I don't think I have a lot to update today because life got in the way of me reading as much as I wanted, but if I don't note things down, I'm gonna forget, so here we are. so, basically, in order to chase the planet's soul (which they call beast, but I think that's disrespectful), that's where the cavalier comes in

His mandate of heaven is very different from Gojo and Geto. Sukuna is a ruthless tyrant, he enjoys crushing any nation he deems either threatening or undeserving to even exist next to his borders. His palace is a snake pit, full of betrayal and backstabbing. Executions are frequent and he needs no valid reason to sentence someone to death, he enjoys the bloodshed and the sight of lifeless bodies. You can’t survive that place acting kind and humble. Sukuna specifically torments his concubines physically and mentally for the sheer enjoyment of it.

His court is probably the most competitive. You need to be as ruthless as he is, you need to become a schemer. One of his high-ranking consorts takes you under her wing. She lets you spend leisure time with her, and somehow, she ends up telling you way more sensitive information than she should. She once managed to give him a child, but the infant sadly died days after they were born. She complained about how hard that pregnancy was and that she’s afraid of going through it again, even though she’s attached to him. And not long after this conversation, she fell ill. Retching out everything she ate, her stomach burned and ached. She was so weak her cycle was two weeks late. She trusted you enough to have you fetch her a specific herbal tea to ease her pain and grant her some dreamless sleep.

And that’s the moment you decide you’ll use everything you know about her to cast her down and take her place.

You accuse her that she’s pregnant but wants to abort her baby. Your story is so intricately constructed from all the details you knew that his officials are on your side without hesitation. She watches you horrified, desperately telling him that nothing could be so far from the truth. Sukuna decides to believe in your words and orders for the consort to be executed. Finding pure joy in how she wails and begs for forgiveness. At the execution, he studies your face, every little detail and reaction and you were aware of that. It’s time to impress him. Your face is still, you don’t even flinch when her head is severed by the neck. The eunuchs come for you at night.

He loves and loathes this tradition at the same time. The servants want to protect him, so they deliver you stark naked to ensure you won’t carry any weapons. Fools, as if a weak and trembling creature like you could ever hurt him with a mere dagger or a sharpened hairpin. Yet it makes you look like an offering. A sacrificial lamb. Maybe because you are.

Some primal instinct tells you to balance your inner strength and innate fear of him. Pull back your shoulders, straighten your back, don’t even think to conceal your private parts. Let your fingers quiver and the sheer dread in your eyes seep through. He mocks you. Almost laughs at you while sitting comfortably on the intricately carved shelf bed, wearing a loose bright yellow robe, leaving almost nothing to the imagination. There’s no reason for him to not do this though, he’s a god, the son of heaven, therefore, everything about him is perfect.

The first thing he asks you is if you’re satisfied with your pathetic attempt to improve your position. You don’t dare to tell him that you feel the guilt rotting your insides. He confesses that he was poisoning her meals, he wanted to watch her wither away slowly and enjoy her suffering, but you ruined his plans. He might spare you, you’re a stupid little thing, you couldn’t have known. He warns you that you need to do so much more if you want to be on his good side. You need to be absolutely despicable to earn his praise. Though you feel content having reached your goal and getting to spend a night with him, somewhere deep down you hope you can leave his chamber in one piece or, at least, alive.

Leo is, like Donnie, 24 by the time they find Raph's bitties. He goes to college part time b/c he has other things he wants to be doing but also is slowly working towards getting into Mystic medical school. As much as Mama wants him to take over the nexus and hotel at some point, he'd really rather become a doctor like Leatherhead.

By now he's mostly gotten past his fear of medical procedures, though he's still not a fan of being treated by anyone except himself. There are a few things that still set him off (Like Bishop's genetics lab) but usually he's pretty good now.

At this point he's running the Battle Nexus's medical wing (not exactly practicing in it b/c he's not legally allowed, but he does run it.) And is in charge of the human side of the Nexus hotel (with use of a cloaking broach.) (Mikey helps but Leo's the face of it now.)

And Mikey! Mikey's 23. He went head first into art and mystics and just didn't look back. The dude has had art shows in both the hidden city and new york (though he never shows up to the nyc ones in person. It makes him a bit of a local cryptid as far as the art community goes lol.)

He's in college for art and has a nice little following online as well. Mostly for original work, but he does post jupiter jim fanart sometimes that is generally well liked. (he used to post Lou Jitsu fanart too, but the fandom was just too horny for his dad for him to be comfortable continuing doing so.)

His mystics are very powerful at this point. Probably more powerful than his apocalypse self was at that age (or ever) due to having proper access to training and food. His primary eyes glow gold almost constantly as a result of his extra mystic use, which he kind of likes since they used to be an amber color before his mutation.

One thing I haven’t seen much (or maybe at all?) in @ds30below is fanart recs! I get it, it's hard: I’ve tried compiling some themed art rec lists for the fest, but there are just too many wonderful things out there! So I thought I’d list some ways to find dS art at all, old and new, for the History week. Sadly, a lot of our fandom’s earlier art history is scattered all over barely functional old websites, if not lost completely. DeviantArt’s search has gone crazy - I can’t find the old dS stuff there anymore. A lot of the older (and even not that old) works on AO3 have broken image links, because image hosting has always been a big problem for fan artists (but not anymore: now there's https://images.squidge.org/). 

That said, where to find due South fanart?

Those old personal sites - if you can find them AND if the images aren't broken. Here’s an archived one where at least the wallpaper section still works (Nicci's art is F/K and some are NSFW).

Please, if you know other old or archived sites like this where the images still work, post about them!

The media files for the dS zines on Fanlore are a treasure trove, because there's a gallery view - check especially the files for slash zines, that image gallery has two pages.

Of course, the “Art” tag on AO3 has plenty of treasures (direct link below). I confess I haven’t probably looked through all of them myself yet! I recommend starting from the last page so there’s more new-to-you stuff unless you’ve been in the fandom for ten years or more. Don’t be disheartened by the broken image links, there are so many that do actually work.

Check out my sideblog, Due South Fanart Appreciation - there's also some older stuff there if you browse further. If you use Tumblr on a browser, the Archive is a nifty way to get a kind of a gallery view of the blog, though it only shows the first image in each post and does a disservice to artists with multipart works. The browser version also allows you to use the Tag list - it takes a while to load, but if you have a favorite artist/character/ship, you can find the relevant posts easily). 

I hope you enjoy the stuff you find in the above links - and if you find something you love, save the images, they might be gone tomorrow!

These dumb dinos are known for their obnoxious laugh you can hear while they're hunting. Because of this seemingly uncontrollable laughter, a lot of smaller prey animals are startled and run away when Velocidunce tries to hunt them

This might seem just like a clam... And, it is. But it's also a powerful dragon! They store massive amounts of energy in their mouths to blast out, which can sometimes form beautiful crystals in their mouth! The mouth muscle is a famous delicacy!

I really wanted to do a non reptilian dragon today, and for some reason a clam is what kept coming to mind! I think it's pretty neat looking!

Heya everyone!!! This is actually yet another pre-announcement-announcement, meaning that once I have a spare minute tomorrow at a less ungoshly hour, I will do an actual proper announcement. You guys know me though - and yes, it's come down to scheduling issues.

But just for your information... yesterday on the 2nd of September, Partners In Crime celebrated it's SECOND BIRTHDAY!!! September 2nd, 2021, was the day that I started posting PIC Chapter 1; and September 2nd, 2022, was the day that I started posting PIC Chapter 2!!! Unfortunately, since PIC Chapter 2 is still unfinished, Chapter 3 will not be continuing on this tradition. But I will have more news regarding the next chapter... tomorrow.

A LITTLE MORE INFORMATION

Right, I need to clarify what the hell I'm doing here a bit.

This is a blog, belonging to me, just another queer aromantic fangirl. Fanning, fixating and obsessing over Good Omens and nothing but Good Omens at the moment, and I can't promise that that will change. (nor do I want it to)

Mostly I'll be reblogging shit like there's no tomorrow, or airing out some oddly specific opinions.

BUT- every now and then, I might post fanart. Which is, technically speaking, the whole point of this blog.

I'm an artist, and I love to draw and paint, but I HATE drawing people, because I've never taken the time to actually practise it.

So my grand theory is that if I turn all my face/anatomy practise into fanart, I might be more motivated to focus on my weaknesses and work on my art, instead of blithely avoiding drawing anything that is remotely humanoid.

And I'll be posting it here to keep myself accountable (hopefully) and maybe share my art with other people who need encouragement, or who need to see someone else whose art is crap.

Sometimes, occasionally, maybe -if you'd like to see let me know in the ask box- I might post some of my original art as well.

And if you see my art and have tips and criticism for me, PLEASE TELL ME. Bombard my ask box with criticism. Rip my art apart. Leave it in shreds. As long as you give me advice as well.

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?

I mean, apart form the fact that I *usually* default to oneshots anyway... I tend to just start writing and wait for the story to unfold, but I have recently noticed that it does make writing easier to have, like, a general outline of the fic, so I'm currently experimenting with more planning and stuff.

11. Link your three favorite fics right now

Hmmm, I think I'll go with Mondphasen by @pointwhitmark (yes, it's a series, shhh), you're pulling the trigger all wrong by @crazy-walls as always, and anything i haven't got by @wodkapudding. Very much a Momentaufnahme, might be different tomorrow.

12. how does receiving or not receiving feedback/support impact you?

Hm. Not feedback doesn't affect me *that* much tbh, it's always a bit sad, but I *do* mostly write for myself and like. Probably couldn't stop if I tried. But receiving feedback on something does have a good chance of inspiring me to write more - sometimes something similar, sometimes just in general. But if you (general you) want more fic of a certain kind out of me, commenting on existing stuff in the same direction is probably the best way to go.

20. Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

Well, there's A Lot of age difference stuff, quite some sexual-relationship-without-romance, but someone did recently open my eyes to the fact that I also write a fair bit of "sexual relationship where one part is in love/has a crush, but the other holds them at arm's length" and I know exactly why that is and we're not getting into that here. But also, I'm lowkey convinced people could recognise my fic from my beloved "gelinde gesagt" alone xD

24. Worst writing advice anyone ever gave you?

Can't really remember anything specific. Maybe the evergreen "never use said" which is terrible advice really.

40. If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?

I mean. I already got some stunning artworks for out of hell (here & here), which would be my #1. But I think the Noir AU or the snooker fic could also be really fun to have something visual for? Just. Good-looking men in nice suits with very specific vibes xD

I love this song so much, I think it’s just very emblematic of finding someone you click with! Thank you! 😁 And yeah, I'm absolutely gonna keep sharing! The stuff I'm sharing here on tumblr is fun, low-on-spoilers scenes that occur to me as I go or as folks ask me questions, but I'm also working on a full outline for the fic with friends that I'm keeping private.

As soon as I have a free day I can dedicate fully to writing, I plan to pick up where I left off with the first chapter of the fic. (Maybe on Saturday? Tomorrow I need to do a lot of adulting with mail and bills, and Friday I oughta catch up on some limited-time events on a couple of my games, so Saturday might be a good day to dedicate to writing the next chapter! I'm hoping that by typing out this plan where people will see it, I'll be more likely to actually stick to it! Now I'll know people will be expecting the next chapter this weekend! ADHD time management hacks.)

One of my other hyperfixations is releasing a season this summer, so I'm hoping that if I zoom to write this fic super fast, I can get it out and free up my brain before that fandom takes over my life again LMAO. (When I'm adequately inspired & energized I can easily write over 100k in a month or two, so this isn't as unreasonable a goal as you might think!)

HERE ME OUT BEFORE THE ARGUMENTS HAPPEN!

I had a very old poly ship years ago in season 1 grounds with Adrian, Marinette, and Nathaniel as I thought the ship was really cute. Then Luka came around, than Kagami, then Marc and I kind of just lowkey abandoned ship and it honestly broke my heart I started to heavily ship them away but over time after Hero's Day Part 2 I kind of had a random brain bubble of "Wouldn't it be lowkey cute if Nathaniel and Marc join the ship mobile?"

The season 3 happened and I kind of got sidetracked of my actual OT4 happen and in random I drew a bunch of old doodles I will NOT show of this OT6 in-between ships

I really want to flesh this ship out a bit and if you don't like it or the OT4 then by all means you don't have to, but I would really like some asks related to this ship and possibly today and tomorrow I'll draw a bunch more of them with the fanart winner of the poll, maybe some fics and headcanons of my own, and at one point I even will try and plan out how to show off some ideas for my MLB re-write!

In the artist’s redesign, Habit has a gaunt face with protruding furry cheeks, cotton-stuffed ears, then red fur-ruffles under his makeup-applied eyes, then a thin pencil stache with surrounding hair on the chin and neck. He is balding on one side of the head. On the neck is a visible Adams apple. He has a X-like scar near his mouth, and stitches on his neck, scars on his ball-jointed, wrinkled hands. He has on purple eyeshadow and red claws plus lipstick. All his hair is in shades of rose-pink. Habit wears a fur-like blue coat with rougher yet still soft material for teal sleeves. They are colored somewhat roughly with a mixture of colored pencils and sketches. From the front view, Habit has his arms around the other, bending down and touching Kamal's hair. His own hair surrounds the both of them. Kamal rests one hand in the other's, the palm of which is soft, patched cotton. His other hand is held up to one side of his face which bears a weary, pained expression. Eyes closed, tears escape. Habit smiles( he has broken teeth) in a way that's taking strain. He too weeps in much the same way.

BG is a messily painted vivid deep yellow overlaid with many ribbons of red swaying through. Habit and Kamal are below the top of the BG, mostly encircled on the outer lines by encroaching red paint. Lyrics to a mashup of Viva la Vida and Pompeii read, in slightly different fonts and colors( blue pen, black and purple sketches)--

Oh uh talk under the cut!

People, I'll admit, if I haven't before-- and if I have, then I request pardon, because my memory isn't that great-- I worry about posting stuff like this. I worry I'm being too emotional, too attached, too personal, just weird....

But I must be the one to tell my story and share it. Take it or leave it. I'm just another face in this crowd with my own trifles. If you'll listen to my passing songs, all is good and well just the same as when you don't.

Well I guess I can start with how I'm amazed that I've drawn this. This is nearly 10 years of improvement. I'm proud!

And OK, yeah, this was drawn for my birthday. But it has more of a New Years feeling in my head. Something like..." oh my god, we survived ". Something like a beginning but not a wholly new one; the road you have tread so far is still behind you. Strewn with all manners of things. How I think about it. The days were there when I think and think about them and forget to go forward. And sometimes it will all catch up to me and break away the forward path.

It's incredibly painful.

I won't go too much into that but imagine my mind when I heard a soft, sweet acoustic cover of Pompeii by Bastille. It's a song I've previously associated with those bottomless pit-like emotions. So this was like a sign from God himself--not even exaggerating. It felt like a glimpse into when everything could be over.

When Heaven is real, and the angels have said, " Your journey is over, now rest."

But still I am on Earth. The moment is brief and finite, however long. Happiness after pain and then pain to continue.

Here that is. I have painted it for myself.

Words are hard...

It had begun again. You don't mind.
