Rick Riordan releasing a new original trio Percy Jackson book is the best news I've heard all year.
You guys have no idea. I didn't read the series until high school, shortly after my ADHD diagnosis.
You. Guys.
This was the first fandom I ever wrote fanfiction for! It was called "A Whole New Kind Of War" and it was awful. Dreadful really. It was one of those "demigods go to high school" fics. And it was posted on FFN.
I only ever posted 3 chapters, then an update that said I wasn't abandoning...I lied. I kept it public on my account until I started college and my roommate (currest best friend) asked for my account name...I deleted things real quick.
I honestly regret deleting it man. I kinda wanna remember when I was the one writing those cringe fics...Like. I wrote out their schedules and everything. And I had that one Ancient Greek class. And the 7 were all there, plus I think like...3 OCs. One was named Cara. Nico was there too...this was in like...2014.
My account name at the tike was even Kyra Jackson. She was my OC Percebeth Child who I never wrote stories about. And at some point I gave Percy a sister named Sienna...and he was for sure a quadruplet once too...this I never posted or even wrote down...it's probably for the best.
Point is. I'm currently reading Percabeth fanfiction for the first time since I was in high school. I. Am. A. College. Graduate. I regret nothing. Especially since I'm reading on AO3 this time...much better.
But seriously, it is my life's mission to find this fic somewhere on the internet. Like. It must exist somewhere. This is my own personal lost media. I hate everything about it. But I must find it.

BEST LONG-TIME PINING SHIPS: ROUND 3 MATCH 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The blupjeans art was made by @herbgerblin !!)
Reasons to vote for each ship underneath the cut!
Blupjeans: fantasy nasa astronauts stuck in a functional time loop together spend 47 years slowly falling in love which culminates in them playing a beautiful duet with stunning narration about learning how to care for each other and be cared for (and then a couple more decades after that they rip their souls ouf of their still-living bodies to become terrifyingly powerful undead abominations together for eternity and it fucking rules) >:) Also Lup is canon trans so that rules too Percabeth: They meet as 11 year olds and don't really get along but within a couple weeks they end up best friends and Annabeth canonically had a crush on him by the end of the first book. They both liked each other (though Percy was oblivious to his feelings until they were 16). They fought side by side door years, kept nearly dying for each other, she was literally Percy's anchor to the mortal world when he went in the river Styx, and they both have up immortality (and in Percy's case, godhood) for each other all before actually admitting they had a crush on each other. Also, An additional year can be added for when he was kidnapped and his MEMORY WAS ERASED! and all he could remember was HER NAME 😭 and she searched for him that whole year.

There are many things that frustrate me with the writing of Annabeth in the PJO TV Show, but I think one thing that I haven’t seen people talk much about is the mini-arc of Percy needing to help Annabeth with her sense of fun/humanity.
Just so we’re clear, I absolutely hate this arc.
Prior to the show’s premiere, I believe there was a quote from Rick discussing new-ish things that we’d see in the show, and one of those things was Percy helping Annabeth “tap into her humanity”. I can’t find the exact quote, but it should be on the series update Twitter account if you search it.
When I first read this quote, I wasn’t exactly sure what it meant, but I thought maybe we’d get an expansion of the theme of forgiveness that we got in the original books, or maybe we’d get an arc about Annabeth’s pride and how that gets in the way of her relationships with others. Or maybe they’d try and break down the ways in which Annabeth helps to uphold the gods’ ways of doing things, and align her more with the mortal point of view (which they essentially did, but not the overall point).
What I certainly wasn’t expecting was for them to strip Annabeth of most, if not, all of her smaller/softer traits, and give her this unusually stoic and stiff personality, where she suddenly has no familiarity with casual aspects of the mortal world (movies, Disney world, common idioms), and needs Percy to introduce these concepts to her in an effort to “unlock” her humanity.
What.
The.
Fuck.
Words cannot emphasize enough how much I despise this arc. Not only is it entirely nonsensical for Annabeth not to be familiar with these things (she was with her dad at least until the age of 7 and she goes to a camp full of other children who are regularly in contact with the mortal world; do you seriously expect me to believe that at no point in her 12 years of life, she never saw a single film, heard of Disneyworld, or heard common idioms and slang terms from her camp-mates? Seriously???)
But ALSO!
Book!Annabeth had PLENTY of humanity to go around! Even with her pride and initial coldness towards Percy, she plays hackeysack with him and Grover on the first day of their quest! She has a cute silly crush/admiration/infatuation on Luke. She nerds out big time over the St. Louis Arch! She’s the first to steal clothing from Waterland! She screams and cries when she encounters the mechanical spiders! She has an expression of sadness when she shares her backstory about Thalia and Luke! She gets lost in her little construction game at the Lotus, so much so that Percy has to use her phobia to pull her out of the trance! She grabs Percy’s hand when they first enter the Underworld because she’s scared! She tears up when it’s time to leave Cerberus!
And you stripped her of all these things, because you’re so desperate to overemphasize the Percabeth romance, and you felt that it was absolutely necessary to have Percy educate Annabeth on “unlocking humanity”??? Why!!!!
Not only did Book!Percy help Annabeth discuss things about bad parents and approaching forgiveness, but Book!Percy already had something important to offer Annabeth: loyalty, trustworthiness, and reliability. You didn’t need to take away her already-present traits and wits to convince us that Percy was the type of person she needed in her life, because we can already see what he offers her in the books. So why oh why did you feel the need to give us the silly “tap into your humanity” arc? Why did you turn her personality into something that it wasn’t? Why did you take away her depth just so her character could better serve Percabeth?
I don’t even necessarily agree with the criticism that this version of Annabeth feels like it prioritizes Percabeth more, but I can see why people made that complaint. Y’all took away so much of what made this character endearing, because you felt like it was a much bigger priority to have Percy help her unlock humanity than to let her be human prior to meeting him and outside of him. Not only does her personality get shafted, but her relationships with other people get shafted too! Her interactions with Luke are affection-less, she sent Grover off on his own in the Lotus so she could go off with Percy, and I don’t even think that she and Chiron interacted once this season; I don’t even think she mentioned the part about her calling him to come pick her up after she attempted living at home again!
But don’t worry; we’ll get plenty of scenes doubling down and tripling down on how Percy is the center of her world now! Yay!

I was thinking about the Percy Jackson TV show and it just occurred to me that a few of the changes they made in season one, even though didn’t exactly please me, will allow the following seasons to be more book-accurate and in depth.
One example is the fact that we already have Luke’s background. We know why he left home, so now the show can actually SHOW us Luke and Thalia’s life on the road by flashbacks, instead of Annabeth telling the short version (how it is in the books). They can actually dive into Luke’s character and make him more three-dimensional, something that the series lacked up until the very last book when Rick had a “oh my gods I’m about to kill this character and I didn’t even give him a last name” sort of moment.
By fleshing out Luke’s character so thoroughly they can also give Thalia a greater importance than she had in the books. I was never particularly sold to her and Annabeth’s relationship because Annabeth never actually TALKS about her except for very few and brief moments during SoM. They now have the perfect excuse to show more of her (again, in those flashbacks about their time on the road) to build up her character so people will actually like her and understand why she is the way she is during book three. I’ve known plenty of people, including myself, that didn’t vibe with her during TTC for this exact reason: we were never given context about her. We don’t even know what made HER leave home until Heroes of Olympus.
Sally’s relationship with Poseidon being explored will make Paul even more important than he already is. For Sally to finally open up to a man again, to finally be able to love and trust someone other than Percy, is a HUGE deal now. Because we know she carried those unresolved feelings for Poseidon for the longest time and meeting Paul is what finally makes her let go of him.
I also think the show is building up the gods little by little. At first it would seem like they’re all bastards that hate mortals and should be guillotined, but then we get Hephaestus helping them because he wants to be different. Then we have Poseidon helping out Percy even though he wasn’t asked (in the books, Percy prayed before jumping from the arch) AND even helping out Sally by giving him an extra pearl. We will probably have, through flashbacks, Athena guiding Annabeth when she left home, and Hermes wanting to help Luke escape his fate is already a big deal. Instead of first seeing the gods as perfect creatures and later finding out they’re just as flawed as mortals, we’re doing the opposite: at first we think they’re trash and understand Luke, but little by little we are shown that, flawed as they are, most of the gods still try to do their best for their children. Except Ares, the little fucker.
All this long ass post to say: maybe we shouldn’t criticize the show so harshly before being able to see the bigger picture. Maybe we should give them some grace and time to cook.
Also: I know some people think they're being too forward with Percabeth, and to those I say: reread the books and use your critical thinking skills. But that's a subject for another post.

Okay, so I watched the Percy Jackson series, sadly didn't get to watch the eps after ep 5 due to no longer having the subscription and had to look for the scenes of Ep 6 and 7, and there's one thing I don't think anyone pointed out yet, which I think was made clear in Ep 7.
Poseidon in the books called Sally "a goddess amongst women", he said that he hasn't met someone like her for a thousand years. The TV series makes this very clear about Sally. She challenges the way of the Gods, and was even open about it with Poseidon.
THIS is the woman that Poseidon fell in love with.
I cannot make this any more clear, Poseidon fell in love with Sally the same way Annabeth would fall for Percy.
Because Sally changed him. Poseidon had to live with the ways of his family for a very, very long time. But when he met Sally, his perpective changes. She showed him another way. That there could be better. Just like how Annabeth, who used to live for glory, once held the same views like everyone else, was changed by Percy's kindness, and strong beliefs that it isn't right. That there has to be more than just this.
Poseidon fell in love with Sally because she was better than him. She was better than those his family.
I think some part of Poseidon was already kind of unhappy with it. We know what happens when mortals challenges the Gods in the myths. But Poseidon fell in love. Hard. Despite all the risks.
It makes the whole thing more painful for Poseidon, because as a God, he still has to abide the strict rules that his family has. No matter how wrong it is now. When he meets Sally he acknowledges that Percy will always be Sally's son. And because he is Sally's son, he will be better than the gods, just like his mother.
Now, just imagine Poseidon secretly hardcore shipping Percabeth because of how they remind him of his summer love with Sally. IMAGINE. Athena just angry and Poseidon just being all giddy about Percy's girlfriend lmao (I mean, if you think abt it, he was fine with them kissing in his domain-)
Hits different when Annabeth says "I trust your father", lol

Hey there, I saw your requests were open and just wanted to ask if you’d be willing to do a yandere Percy Jackson x a male or gender neutral reader who happens to be an actor— I myself am male, but I also think it’s annoying to look for a fic about your favorite character, only to find out it’s written for the opposite gender. The reader can either be a demigod (probably a child of Apollo or Dionysus since those two are closely related to acting & whatnot) or just some mortal that can see through the mist like Rachel or something. Either way, would you mind writing about Percy seeing the reader & a co-Star share a stage/film kiss? It could even be Percy & Annabeth since both are pretty cool and I like them both as a couple; plus, poly yandere situations are fun. You can also decide whether or not the reader and Percy/Percy and Annabeth are dating or not; thanks for taking the time to read this, and have a great day :)
-🪑 (I am now chair anon)
Stage Lovers
A/n sorry if this isn’t what you wanted, I took a small guess in a few things. Not sure if everything I wrote was canon but whatever. I wasn’t sure if you meant the show of book so if the books image their older and the same goes for the show. Also I used the Little Shop of Horrors play in this. Hope you enjoy.
Warnings: Yandere behaviors, possessive behaviors, slightly(a bit more then slightly) himbo reader, mention of killing someone later.

All Characters are aged up to 18 plus
Percabeth x Male! Reader
Camp half-blood was a buzz with people. Apollo’s cabin was preparing the annul musical/play to celebrate their father’s birthday. Percy and Annabeth hovered around the scene as they watched their boyfriend practice his lines with some daughter of Aphrodite. The girl was too close, too touchy, to smiley for the pairs taste. Their sweet and kind boyfriend Y/n just helped her with a smile in his face. Percy kept an arm around the visibly seething Annabeth as they watched. Everyone at camp knew that Y/n was there. They all got the message but this stupid girl.
Open distain was on Annabeth face as Y/n walked over to them. His script loosely in his hands and a bright smile. He’d been working for weeks on this play, but he wouldn’t say a word about it. Y/n being the sweet boyfriend he is, wanted his lovers to be surprised when they watched him.
Y/n kissed Annabeth’s forehead first, hoping to soothe the anger visible on her face, then he moved to Percy. When he pulled away Percy held his hand.
“Who was that?”
Y/n turned his head at Annabeth’s tone. It’s irritated and annoyed.
“Who?” Y/n questioned unsure. Percy traced the back of Y/n’s hand.
“The girl over there, you were reading with her a moment ago Sunni.” Y/n blushed at Percy’s nickname for him. Looking back quickly Y/n missed the look of hatred his partners gave the girl.
“Oh, Vanessa, she’s my stage partner for the play.” The pair stilted. His partner?
“What play are you doing again?” Annabeth pondered twisting a lock of her hair. Y/n’s face lit up and he chuckled softly. The pair basked in awe of his voice. They could listen to him all day.
“Little Shop of Horror… Wait! No! I’ve spoiled it now! It was meant to be a surprise!” Y/n groaned softly. Percy laughed at his silly little Sunni. Annabeth raised a brow intrigued.
“Who do you play?”
“I’m Seymour!”
“And she is?” A moment of silence filled the air after Annabeth’s words. Percy brought Y/n closer and sent him a look.
“Who is she?” Percy demanded not liking that Y/n wouldn’t answer.
“You can’t get mad.” They pair furrowed there brows.
“Why would we be mad lovely?” Annabeth muttered softly moving some of Y/n hair. Y/n didn’t meet either of his partners gazes.
“She’s Audrey.”
Silence echoes through there conversation. Y/n had shown his partners the movie of Little Shop of Horrors once. In that one time they knew who Audrey was. Y/n took a nervous gulp and his partners shared a look.
“Are you mad?”
“No, lovely we’re not mad.”
Y/n breathed out a sigh of relief. One of his other siblings motioned for him to go back. Y/n kissed his partner goodbye quickly and dashed back to the stage.
“I’ll grab her after the show.” Annabeth voiced softly.
“Why can’t we grab her now?” Percy snapped. No one other than them was going to touch Y/n. They could allow that.
“We’re nothing going to mess up Y/n’s play, he’s been working so hard. We’ll throw her in the lake afterwards, then celebrate with Y/n.”
With Annabeth’s words said the pair returned there gaze to Y/n who was singing with one of his siblings who was playing Audrey two.

An Analysis of Percy's Request for the gods
People like to claim that Percy gave up godhood for Annabeth. Like no??? She had nothing to do with it. If Percy even considered her, he would've realized that Annabeth would've loved to be immortal? She was considering becoming a hunter of artemis in ttc (but couldn't join because she was in love/had a crush on 2 boys) and was offered it by CC in SoM (but rejected it to continue the quest to save chb).
Her whole aspiration is to make something that will exist for the ages so she will be remembered. What better way to remain relevant and eternal than to become a god? If anything he would've turned around and asked Zeus if he could make his significant other a god/immortal like Dionysus did.
Now let's look at the actual reason for Percy turning down godhood.
Percy never wanted to be a god. He never wanted to be a demigod. He actually tries to avoid being the hero (giving Clarisse the fleece in SoM, letting Artemis fight the bad guy Atlas in TTC, and giving Luke the dagger in TLO. There's more but those are the big ones). He actively chooses the mortal world over the greek myth one: every year he spends a mere 2 months at camp and 10 months in the mortal world. There's no way Percy would've said yes to godhood, and none of his reasons for rejecting it involve Annabeth.
Moreover, let's look at his actual request to Zeus. None of it currently benefits Annabeth.
"No more undetermined children. I want you to promise to claim your children - all your demigod children - by the time they turn 13. They won't be left out in the world on their own at the mercy of monsters. I want them claimed and brought to camp so they can be trained right and survive."
Annabeth is already claimed. This request has more to do with Luke's dying request, to help the unclaimed demigods.
What's interesting, however is the wording. We've seen something similar to the statement, "left... at the mercy of monsters," before in TTC. Nico runs away, and after Percy spends all night looking for him without success he tells Chiron. Chiron's response? "Alas, I hope he was eaten by monsters." Percy then spends the rest of the year all the way until BotL worrying and looking for Nico. To this point in canon, Nico doesn't have a home in the above ground world.
This request had more to do with Nico and Luke than anything else.
"And the minor gods Nemesis, Hecate, Morpheus, Janus, Hebe - they all deserve a general amnesty and a place at camp half blood. Their children shouldn't be ignored."
This is similar to the previous request in that it's fulfilling Luke's dying request. Although it is interesting that Percy asked the Olympians to forgive the minor gods. As far as PJO goes, he never meets any of them (until HoO and afterward). However, he does meet some of their children, like Ethan Nakamura. So it's not a stretch to say that this request was made in Ethan's memory; Ethan who was neglected by the gods but was a good enough person to realize what needed to happen and tried to change sides at the final battle.
"Calypso and the other peaceful Titan-kind should be pardoned too."
Remember during botl Percy spent weeks recovering with Calypso? Remember how she saved his life, and fell in love with him and how he was tempted to stay with her? Didn't Percy call Calypso his biggest what-if? Percabeth stans must be rolling in their graves at the realization that Percy's request was more for Calypso than Annabeth. (And don't come at me or Percy for Calypso not being freed immediately, that was on the gods; not Percy. He did his part).
"And Hades [...] Your children should not be left out. They should have a cabin at camp. Nico has proven that."
Remember in bolt when Percy asked Nico to stay at camp with him? And Nico asks Percy if Percy really thinks Nico will be welcomed? And Percy couldn't answer because camp treated him harshly in tlt and SoM - and Percy wonders how much worse it would be for the son of the lord of the dead? It took 2-3 quests for camp as a whole to respect and welcome Percy, and Poseidon's domains are much less scary than Hades'. Yeah. Percy is literally using his one gift from the gods to give Nico a home, a safe space at camp half blood.
Also, it's interesting that Percy is the only demigod that Percy calls out by name, even though what he's doing primarily benefits all demigods.
"No more pact of the big three. That didn't work anyway. You've got to stop trying to get rid of powerful demigods. We're going to train them and accept them instead."
This is the only part of Percy's request that he really benefits from. Since the summer than Percy learned of his heritage, he's been told over and over that he's too powerful/dangerous to exist, that Zeus and Athena and the others are considering killing him. Remember in TTC where its hinted at that the gods were considering voting whether or not to kill Percy? Yeah. This is Percy asking the gods to let him be, to stop lobbying for his death.
Not to mention, in scene after that council meeting in TTC Percy learns that Nico is a child of Hades, another child of the big three. He's immediately adamant about keeping it a secret, against the wishes of both Annabeth and Grover. Percy (unlike Nico) knows that the only reason why he isn't dead is because Poseidon vouched for him. Nico, who's father doesn't have a seat on the council, doesn't have that luxury. This request is as much about Percy as it is about Nico.
So in summary, why did Percy turn down godhood? Because: he wants to live a mortal life, he wants to honor Luke's dying request (better life for demigods), he wants to protect Nico and because he wants the gods to stop having reason for wanting him dead.
Thank you for listening to my TED talk lol.

Ultimately the reason Percabeth is such horrifically bad ship yet gets praised so much is that while Percy and Annabeth canonically love eachother, they also canonically don't like eachother LMAO.Percy's constantly wishing Annabeth was extremely different than who she actually is because he finds her unbearable and hard to be around and finds escapism in being around people who're unlike her with the biggest example being him having been in love with Rachel before they settled into still close exes
Tumblr media
There's also his friendships with the Grace Sibs,Thalia had infinitely better progress with him in TTC than Annabeth has in the entire saga and he admires her a lot more too and it's a running theme that Jason is Annabeth's opposite and Percy became instant best friends with him upon first meeting and all three of their first meetings are more charming and unique than Percy saying his type is princess-y girls in his narration but Annabeth hating being seen as one because she's gnc and 'You drool when you sleep'.I also think if anybody is Percy's cosmically intertwined soulmate it's not any s/os but Nico and Hazel and by that i mean in a found siblings with him also being their pseudo-parent way.All their dynamics are interesting and richen their characters and they're from different time periods which only adds to how special their bond is
And on Annabeth's end.......She kinda straight up hates his existense. She's always talking about how stupid he is and that he's useless without her and i get that Rick tried to sell it as affectionate teasing but she's angered by it so often it's obvious it's just Rick being a cishet nt white old man.She gets angered by finding him attractive too?????This trope can be good but Percy never actually does anything,he's literally just existing and that includes not actively pursuing her back since he dosen't want her even half as much as she thinks she wants him. It's rare compared to her mean-spirited comments he explicitly never consented to and finds unnecessary and one of the many thing's he wishes she wasn't and he never returns her physical assaults so 'they're demigods and it's normal!' excuse dosen't add up
Yeah, they're dating in canon and gonna get married.Percy's also gonna not only go to college but a demigod college when again and again and AGAIN he says he dosen't want to be a half-blood and he's only going so he can live out a traditional lifestyle with Annabeth so so much for 'his thether to his mortal side' i guess.Annabeth never got any shit from Poseidon like Percy did Athena or terrorizing like Aphrodite does everybody else she talks to and Percy was forced to narratively forgive Luke, again, only because of Annabeth when he groomed him for a bit and abused him tons too and it's so vile to gaslight us into thinking Luke was anything but a serial pedophile and beyond far right to Percy's lifelong outcasthood and anarchy and Annabeth as a direct victim of his sick sexual 'interests' in plausible deniability font due to being a pg series.Percabeth is the peak cishet romance norms taken up to 12 like the Olympians and it's embarrasingly obvious nobody saying they're t4t has ever been in a transmasc4transfem relathionship
Tumblr media
That's why this moment is so fucking depressing. She knows him and she dosen't like any of what he is and he dosen't say it outloud because he's scared of the truth, that he ended up with the wrong person, that he fucked up again and she's hollower whenever she's around him because she exists FOR him and for almost nothing else. They weren't eachother's choice, they were eachother's destiny decided by everyone but themselves. This fucks up my autistic ass so much man,no wonder i only ever liked that lesbian!Percabeth au with transfemme Percy and butch Annabeth that was popular when i was a kid, that's deadass the only way you can make it work, they'd need an entire rehaul but at this point i don't care to try because the shippers don't deserve it after how demonic they've been since the 2000s.Percabeth was never a good ship, you were just a tween

The entire Fandom needs to listen to this:
Percy having a thing for Rachel was so absolutely deserved like he should have been head over heels for her. Here's why?
First meeting? Runs her through with Riptide, and where anyone would have spent the whole time yelling and arguing, Rachel quickly gauged the situation, helped Percy hide, deviated the skeletons from their orignal path all at the same time.
Percy is so awed and he should be and Rick Riordan doesn't do justice to the whole thing.
It ends on Percy saying he owes her one, almost an indication that they would meet again.
Yet Percy is terrified of running into Rachel again because he isn't sure if he could answer all her questions, most definitely because he doesn't want to drag her into the whole thing. So much so that when he sees her at Goode, he calls her "my redheaded nightmare " .
Not only has he thought of her since they last met, but he may or may not have dreamed about her, not to mention he remembered her full name after listening just once.
When he does meet her again she yet again warns him about monsters hence saving both of them.
The most important thing is Percy, who all his life has been judged blamed ridiculed, and mocked is for the very first time understood so instantaneously by Rachel. She who has been put in mortal danger every single time she meets him doesn't blame him, doesn't judge him for it, and openly takes the blame for the burning school. Even Annabeth's first response to seeing the smoke is blaming Percy despite being around him and knowing well enough for 3 years; she chooses to blame him as if she doesn't know that it's never Percy's fault. Yet Rachel, someone who he has met only twice and that too for meager few minutes, understands him and his situation so well.
All the people in the Fandom ask yourself this: Will Percy Jackson not for all that he is be absolutely head over heels and in awe of someone like that?
He can barely give her any answers at the moment, but she agrees to a death quest to help him save the world.
Throws a literal hairbrush at the Titan King and stands her ground.
Stays by him and comforts him through his depressive thoughts about dying due to the prophecy.
Falls in love with him despite knowing he has little time left.
Does her best to help him while still keeping his mind off from spiraling into dark thoughts.
Rides a literal helicopter mid-apocalypse to get to him just to warn him of the dangers?
Percy would be so absolutely over the moon in love with Rachel, were Uncle Rick not so fixated on Percabeth agenda.
The last bit is for toxic Annabeth stans:
Rachel is a genius too.
She is ambidextrous and can draw with both hands and legs; probably has exceptional memory, and her composure and quick thinking are on par with Percy himself.
I hate bringing this to looks, but I will if I get to shut up toxic fans. Annabeth is certainly beautiful, and her grey eyes are quite unique, but Rachel is the most underrated and definitely the most beautiful out of all Percy Jackson females.
The woman literally won genetic lottery with red hair and green eyes, and the only reason Uncle Rick doesn't rave about her beauty is to not make Annabeth insecure.
Also, for those overly concerned about the Oracle celibacy thing, I will address that in my next post and how it's not a problem at all.
Expect more Pjo-centric posts along with Perachel headcanons and more.

post-tartarus percabeth headcanons!
i am so abnormal about percabeth rn. tw for post-tartarus trauma exploration, unhealthy attachment. just some of my angsty character exploration. read with caution
after tartarus percy doesn't know what to do with himself, because by necessity his world has been finetuned to annabeth and what her survival means to the world. to him. he goes each day with shaking hands that only still when he is able to hold her, to touch her.
percy doesn't know how to talk to his mom anymore. sally does her best and bakes him endless blue cookies and homecooked warm meals and sits with him in the rain but he can't meet her eyes. how can he? how can he look his mother in the eye when he blames himself for causing so much pain?
percy doesn't care about college. he doesn't care about his life. the monsters are always there, and the paranoia settles into his skin like his organs have forgotten what clean, safe air feels like. he sleeps every night with annabeth shaking in his arms, one hand threaded through her hair and the other clutching riptide like his second lifeline. he almost lost his first, once. and he will never let that happen again.
annabeth knows this is unhealthy. somewhere in her head she knows athena is frowning down on them with disapproval, or maybe she understands. annabeth can't let percy out of her sight. she sees gorgons, fates, giants, titans, evil everywhere, and the shadow of it all clenches around her and all she has is percy. maybe athena understands, or maybe she is scared, too, of what annabeth has become. of what they have made each other.
they would each destroy worlds for the other, kill without a second thought at any mortal, monster, or god who dares step in between them. and they are terrified, but they know nothing else.

percabeth study abroad au // ~20k // excerpt below
She shoots a quick text to Silena, letting her know she’s ready so they can meet up to go to the beach together. They’d booked a jet skiing tour for their first day in Greece, which in hindsight seemed like a poorly thought-out plan, considering sleep felt like the more tempting option.
The university-provided housing isn’t far from Sally’s home, thankfully. Annabeth is grateful for a familiar face to help her navigate through this.
She spots the raven-haired girl making her way towards her, red sunglasses resting atop her hair, bag slung one shoulder, cool refresher in the other hand.
“Hey, babe,” she greets, and Annabeth falls into pace beside her as they make their way out of the cluster of homes towards a busier street with yellow taxis.
“Hey, Lena. Is that a new suit? You look pretty,” Annabeth compliments.
Silena, being the friend that she is, recognizes Annabeth’s ulterior motive immediately. She rolls her eyes, offering her drink to Annabeth. “You could just ask for a sip, you know.”
Annabeth greedily takes more than a sip, feeling the cold slide down her throat and settle into her stomach. “I know,” she says cheerfully. “You really do look good.”
“Well, what else is new? How are things with,” Silena pauses, “uh, what was her name, Sarah? Sammy?”
“Sally,” Annabeth corrects.
“Yeah, her. Sally…Jackson, right?”
“Yup,” Annabeth confirms, settling down on a rocky overlook on the cobblestone path, feet a little worn from all the walking she’d done today. “She’s…nice. Like, really nice.” Annabeth picks at a loose thread on her coverup. “Kind, I mean.”
“That’s good.” Silena replies lightly.
“Yeah, she’s great,” Annabeth smiles wistfully. “Fed me a whole family-sized meal the moment I stepped through the door. God, you would not believe how good those cookies were, too. I’ll try to sneak you a couple sometime.”
“I knew I picked you for a reason,” Silena smirks for a second, then she sobers up. “But?”
“But?” Annabeth asks, brows furrowing.
“But?” Silena repeats, prodding. “What’s on your mind?”
Annabeth stares at the other girl for a long moment, admiring the way her hair catches the sunlight and her lips seem especially shiny today, ignoring the knowing eyes seeing right through her.
Annabeth sighs, relenting. “I don’t know. She’s lovely and inviting and generous. Hell, she even offered to pay for the cab fare to the beach. I got lucky.” Annabeth tucks her knees to her chest as close as she can hold them, forehead coming to rest on her thighs. She sighs again, admitting, “It’s a lot. I don’t—” Annabeth pauses to discreetly wipe a lingering tear that had sprung out of thin air against the fabric of her coverup.
She feels Silena’s palm on her lower back, the contact radiating warmth that cocoons her entire body. Annabeth knows she understands.
“I don’t know what to do with that. I don’t know how to act,” Annabeth confesses.
Her father, if he could even be called that, was never the most affectionate or doting. She could get on her knees in front of him and plead for his attention like a stray dog begging for scraps and she knows he wouldn’t look up from his war models and research papers. She haunted her own house like a disgraced, uninvited apparition, slipping in and out without so much as a glance. It’s why she ran away. She’d gotten more than used to living out one corner of that Virginia brownstone, speaking only when spoken to, taking up as little space as possible, her entire life ready to be packed into a single trunk with room to spare. She wasn’t okay with it, but it was her life and she’d long ago accepted it. But it didn’t feel like much of a life, a stranger in her own house, intruding on a family that wasn’t hers.
One conversation with her best friend at the time later, she’d taken his joking advice too seriously and evacuated the brownstone with $500 in cash stolen from her dad’s wallet and a backpack with enough water and clothes to last a few days. She’d left in the dead of night, but she hadn’t bothered being quiet—what difference would it make if her father wouldn’t have noticed either way. It was the best decision she’d ever made. Her father had reached out to her intermittently, too much to let the hurt ebb away over the years, not enough to show he cared that she’d packed up her life and started anew to escape him and his wife.
Her mother…she doesn’t know much about her mother. Annabeth’s a lot like her, she’s been told. With wistfulness. With disdain. She wonders if Frederick ever looked at Athena the same way he looks at her stepmother. His current marriage is all she’s ever really known. Not wanting to spend her formative years feeling like her soul belonged somewhere else, she’d filed for emancipation and moved to New York and made a home out of a ninety square foot cell in one of the only boarding schools they had in the city. So, really, Frederick isn't her father. She doesn’t think it makes a difference.
Silena pulls her from her thoughts. “Hey, it’s okay. You just need to get acclimated with your environment. Everything’s a little awkward the first time.”
“Yeah.”
“Have you met her kids yet?”
“Nope, not yet. Her daughter’s at swim practice and her son is out doing god knows what.”
“I think the part that terrifies me most about home stays is being the awkward outsider in the middle of a family argument. Like I would not know what to do with myself if she and her son got into a screaming match or something.”
“Thanks, I didn’t have enough to worry about.”
“No problem.” Silena grabs Annabeth’s arm and places it into her lap, fiddling with her palm. “But from what you said, that shouldn’t be an issue.”
“Yeah…she has, like, the most warm, nurturing energy. She fusses over you like a grandma but she honestly isn’t old at all. Pushing forty at the most.”
“Or she just has a flawless skincare routine.”
“Or being a good person means you don’t get wrinkles.”
“You should save money for Botox then.” Silena quips, already leaning away in defense of the incoming shove.
“Oh my god, wait, you know what?” Annabeth stops in her movement. “She had an American accent. I don’t know why that’s only now just registering but I guess I’m so used to hearing them, I didn’t notice.”
“So you think she’s from the states then?”
“I mean, probably. Maybe she moved here not too long ago.”
“Well, there you go. Maybe she’ll understand you more than you realize.”
“Maybe.”
Silena gives her hand a final pat and stands up, offering a hand to help her up. Annabeth takes it, stretching out her limbs and rolling her shoulders.
“So,” Silena starts, a devious smile playing at her lips. “Ready to ogle some sexy Greeks on the beach?”
“Not unless they look like Giannis.”
“That’s a tall ask.”
Annabeth shoots a deadpan stare and Silena’s cheeky expression. “One more pun and I’ll ram my jet ski into yours.”
Silena winces, “Ooh, babe, you don’t have the bank account to cover those damages. Or my funeral costs.”
“What if the break mysteriously stopped working?”
“Let’s be real, what would you do without me here? You wouldn’t last one week.”
“You think very highly of yourself.”
“How can I not? Look at me,” she says, flipping her hair.
“Your bikini bottoms are inside out.”
“What?” Silena scrambles to feel for the tag. “No they’re not, you cunt.”
Annabeth grins, hailing a taxi. They arrive on the beach and it’s fairly crowded, as expected, families gathered along the shoreline, paragliders riding the waves. The girls make their way towards the watersports booth where two guys are conversing over a sheet of paper. One is taller and stockier, built like a football player, his smile disarmingly charming. He probably wouldn’t hurt a fly. Not her type. The other guy standing next to him, black hair tousled from the salty breeze, is also tall, but on the leaner side. Annabeth tries not to stare too hard at the way his sunkissed biceps look as his elbows rest on the chipping wood of the booth, his head held in his palms.
Annabeth pointedly ignores the very sharp, very unnecessary elbow in the ribs from Silena.
“You seeing what I’m seeing?” Silena murmurs under her breath.
“I’m not seeing Giannis so….”
Silena rolls her eyes. “You’re impossible. Learn to appreciate the eye candy when it comes your way.”
“I don’t know, it kind of feels like we’re objectifying them,” Annabeth protests.
“We are.”
“Ok.”

BEST LONG-TIME PINING SHIPS: ROUND 2 MATCH 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why you should vote for each ship underneath the cut!
MSR: The og shit. YEARS of pining. Ambiguous canonical evidence as of when they got together, how and when their relationship changed, in what capacity. Was is casual? Was is platonic? Was it romantic?? Literally no one knows. They literally have a kissy kiss and showrunners still claim they're just friends?!?! But they got together, finally 😊 Then canonically broke up, too?!! But they are back together as of now and it's all smooth riding for them from now on Percabeth: They meet as 11 year olds and don't really get along but within a couple weeks they end up best friends and Annabeth canonically had a crush on him by the end of the first book.

For all my HHr shippers!!
An incredibly popular Percabeth trope is them meeting mortals who are often jealous. They're incredibly cliche, and often incredibly fun. Would anyone be interested in a Muggles Meet Harmione fic? The idea has been bouncing around in my head for awhile.

Fun Facts from Camp Half-Blood Confidential
• Back when Camp Half-Blood was still in Greece, a little girl looked at the camp's meeting house and said "that's a BIG HOUSE." The nickname stuck, and the house at the heart of Camp Half-Blood has been called "The Big House" ever since. (p 19) • The list of known Historical Demigods includes: Arthur, Merlin, Guinevere, Charlemagne, Joan of Arc, Napoleon, George Washington, Harriet Tubman, Madame Curie, Frank Lloyd Wright, Amelia Earhart, (p22) and James Dean (p112) • Further information on that last one: James Dean, famous actor from the fifties, was a demigod child of Aphrodite. He was killed in a car crash that, according to this book, was the result of a Hephaestus girl he'd cheated on getting even with him. • Annabeth designed a centaur sized bathroom for the Big House. (p33) • Even after The Last Olympian, Annabeth was still making fun of Clarisse for when she got drenched by the toilets in The Lightning Thief (p34) • While Rachel was becoming the oracle, Connor and Travis snuck into the attic to steal stuff. While there, Connor ended up taking the tongs he would later use to grab the napkin Annabeth sent him from Tartarus. (p43-46) • Sometime after Heroes of Olympus, Mythomagic made a "Duel Deity Dual" expansion pack, featuring holographic cards that switched from the featured god's Greek persona to their Roman one, and vice versa. (p51) • There's a Camp Half-Blood legend that a mortal pizza guy once made it through the camp's magical border (p73) • The reason the climbing wall has lava on it was because a centaur once threw a jar of greek fire at it, and it inspired Chiron to make the climbing wall even more dangerous (p76) • Canoe Lake itself was talking for days with the other water spirits about the percabeth underwater kiss. (p132)

"...Percy?"
She didn't loosen her grip on her dagger. Not that she'd ever hurt him, but he still might.
"Hey," Annabeth said, to get his attention. "You with me?"
Percy had his back to her. He was still and silent save for his breathing. Then his shoulders sagged. The fight drained out of him; he turned a soft cheek towards her, blinking rapidly.
That was enough—Annabeth sheathed her dagger and stepped closer.
"I was just thinking," he told her, then tried to offer a smile. "Sorry."
He hadn't let go of Riptide yet, still holding tight with white knuckles and those callused palms that came with years of holding a sword. They only took a month to form. Annabeth, at seven, had found her skin peeling where she'd gripped her hammer, then her new dagger, hard.
She slipped her hand in his blazer pocket and found the pen cap, then took his wrist to guide him. The sword winked out and back until Percy was left with just the pen.
They'd been on a date. He'd dug through the back of his closet to find a slightly-too-small suit to squeeze into, and had given up on a tie, but he looked handsome when he opened the door to meet her. Not anywhere upscale by any means, but a little nicer than pizza on the sidewalk or diner burgers, to celebrate the new job.
"I'm sorry," Percy muttered. "I just got mad. It's supposed to be over."
She tugged on his hand; reflexively, he finally put Riptide away, and laced his fingers with hers.
"It's over."
The remains of the two dracanae stuck to their shoes. Annabeth stepped over the dust.
"Not this fight, the—" he struggled wordlessly for a second, then, "the fighting."
Two wars, countless prophecies, and quests, and monsters. Annabeth hungered for that kind of adventure at twelve; at twenty-two she knew why Percy was angry, because she felt tired, too. There were internships, and the semester, and dates to worry about now.
Ordinary things. Mortal things.
"Yeah," she said, and squeezed his hand. The calluses might still fade. "Let's go. You got room for dessert?"
