So I may have been slightly obsessing over “To sir with love”, as one does, and a thing that has been circling in my head for the last few days is the way Tian's confrontation with his mother at the start of episode 13 and his talk with Yang at the end of the same episode echo and oppose each other.

Madame Li comes to Tian when he is in love, hopeful, begging for a chance at happiness, and how does she respond? She crushes it, with the revelation about Jiu and Mr. Ma yes, but mostly with everything else. You will never know love, she says, except mine. That stifling love who wants him to be someone else, that chips at who he is again and again and again.

Then Yang finds his brother (heart)broken, and Tian holds him back to confess his love, again, now in despair and shame and self loathing. And Yang response to that is as it has always been, that his brother is wonderful just as he is. You deserve love he promises, and I love you I love you I love you. A love with no reservation and for all that Tian is, a love always there.

And they both love Tian, they are both afraid and worried for him, both are going to great lengths to protect him, at this point both believe that Jiu has lied to Tian and played him. And. Yet. His mother again puts the blame on him, on who he is, makes him guilty of his own betrayal. His brother reminds him that it's not true, that the betrayer is to blame, and that the fault never laid with him.

And so it's no surprise that Tian pushes away his mother and the prison her love has built around him, but seeks the comfort of his brother's love who has always celebrated who he is.

#the contrast between the ways Madame Li and Yang love Tian was fascinating to me during the whole series #the way his mother keeps pushing him down into shame and his brother keeps lifting him up and celebrating all of who he is #also I was already pretty weepy halfway through the discussion at the temple #but when Mme Li said 'no one will ever love someone like you' I straight up sobbed #the violence of those words??? mein gott I had to stop the video a moment #and after seeing him smile like that at being loved?? believing he's being deceived is NOT an excuse putain #(anyway there is a lots of shared blame for the way Tian views himself (hi Mr Song) but she's done a big part of the work ngl) #on the other hand Yang get the Best Brother Award - leaving the rest of the competition far far behind #and don't get me started on Tian's crying face #it got to me every fucking time like excellent job here but also I ended up on the verge of dehydration too many times #Khun Chai #To sir with love #thai drama #lakorn #asianlgbtqdrama #Tian x Jiu #TianJiu #One31 #thai bl #mine #gifs #ragongif

i have a bad stomachache again today

#…anxiety? #it doesn’t really feel like my period anymore it feels like im just scared #being mentally ill feels so stupid especially when there’s so many layers like this because it’s like #idk. when i get just regular anxious i always feel like. man. of all the things my brain could be worrying about #like i could be having a bpd spiral right now and the most interesting thing my mind wants to do is give me an unexplained stomachache???? #i’ve been fully tangled in delusions multiple times this week and my brain is like. hey have a tummyache?? #and it’s like. i don’t count it as real mental illness but dang if it’s not contributing to my bad mental health. so i should shut up #and deal with the fact that some of my brain problems are harder to reckon with than others #it’s probably silly and strange that i feel like delusions are more reasonable than regular dread but like. this just feels so dumb #okay so um #nothing to do first hour. second hour work on project. third hour sew my jacket. fourth hour movie worksheet. fifth hour movie worksheet #and i have three and a half cards to give. one of them i’ll give today #the thing is im literally giving my chem teacher a two page letter about how awesome he is but im still nervous about him #like there’s a lot of things to be thankful for but im still just a little off put by him being so friendly? #and so i kind of just feel weird giving him a card. idk. but i don’t want to not recognize how helpful and understanding he’s been so i will #the other cards are less of anything it’s just around three sentences per teacher of: listen i know i don’t turn in enough assignments but #i think you’re rad. love how you do [a] and [b] in your class #mme peterson’s is going to be a little longer and also en français but otherwise still a little boring #but mr hidaka’s is two pages long thanks him for everything says there’s no way it’s a full goodbye and that he makes me feel safe #which is true when im around him just not when i get home and THINK about him and so idk. but idk. he’s a nice guy. whatever #im giving him his card today the other people are getting theirs on the last day. but also his isn’t really a card it’s more of a letter #they’re all letters actually. just some of them are very short letters. but none of them are really cards #anyway i have to do my dumb PROJECTS and not fail my CLASSES and there’s not that much left but it still feels like so much #also i had to fall asleep last night with the fake sounds of a fireplace to drown out screaming parents. so. not doing the best at home #but. i should start getting ready for school. im just kind of here #me. my post. mine. #delete later

Charles with reader that speaks italian and french fluently, but they're not her first languages. and he didn't know that. So he's Very pleasantly surprised when he hears her talking with the ferrari people in italian. And then with his mom in french and he's all heart eyes for her😌

Summary- you learn French in order to make a great first impression on Charles family and Charles is over the moon about it

It was a sunny evening in Monaco you and Charles where on your way over to his mums house for a family dinner. You were quite nervous was you had never met his mum before, you had met his brothers around the paddock and at races but you had yet to meet his mum and your really wanted to make a good impression. You ha doit your nicest dress on and tried to look as classy as possible not wanting to look tacky around the mother of the love of your life. You also had another little trick up your sleeve you had been learning a little bit of French so you could interact with the family in their native language, Charles hadn’t known you had been learning the language and you couldn’t wait to see his face when he found out , you just hoped tou wouldn’t miss pronounce anything cause that would ruin your prefect first impression.

“ here we are “ Charles spoke up

“ it’s really nice, this where you grew up” you inquired

“ yep this is where little Charles lived” 

“ aww it’s so cute”

Charles came around and grabbed your hand as you walked up to the door. He could obviously feel your sweaty palms and he turned to face you before ringing the bell.

“ it’s gonna be ok Cherie, she’s gonna love you, how could she not”

“ yeah it’s just meeting your mum is a big deal I just want to make a good impression”

“ and you will “ he says pulling you into him kissing your temple before ringing the doorbell.

After a few minutes the door finally opened. “Bonjour”

“ bonjour mama” Charles spoke leaning in to kiss his mum on both of her cheeks.

“ et vous devez être o/n” ( and you must be y/n) she spoke turning to you

“Oh mum y/n dosent speak French “ Charles spoke this was your moment 

“ c'est un plaisir de vous rencontrer Mme Leclerc”  ( it’s so nice to meet you Mrs Leclerc ) 

Charles turned to you stunned at the fact you had just spoken such fluent French, he didn’t know you knew how to speak any other language other then English and he wasn’t gonna lie this made him fall in love with you even more. 

“ oh tu parles français “ ( oh you do speak French ) she looked humorously at Charles.

“ juste quelques petites choses alors peut-être ne comptez pas sur mon français pour toute la nuit” ( just a few things so maybe don’t rely on my French for the whole night ) you laughed

“ well anyone nice to meet you dear, come in come let’s go settle inside and get to know each-other.

you and Charles followed her inside. Charles stopped you by grabbing your arm . You turned around to face him.

“ since when could speak French” he looked at you

“ since a couple weeks ago, I learnt some specially for today although I only know a few things I thought I might need to say “ you laughed rocking back on your heels

“ marry me “ he stared at you

You burst out laughing 

“ what”

“ I mean I’m just so in love with you right now , you went to all that just for my family”

“ I mena i love you and I will do whatever for your family to love me”

He pulled you in to kiss your lips

“ your perfect for me” he looked lovingly in your eyes still holding your cheek.

“ you guys ok” Pascale shouted 

“ coming mama” Charles linked his hand with yours as you walked further into the house. It’s safe to say the rest of your French knowledge paid of that night
