What's the thing in your banner photo?
That's not a thing. His name is Gudmundr. He's my apprentice, and he's exceptionally talented at weaving. He recently made a bolt of material that's a 50/50 mix of a black hole and a dying star. I'm planning on using it in a bias-cut sheath dress.

Apparently because i work fast, i was encouraged to make a series so I'm doing two paintings based on Norse mythology. Helheim and Muspelheim. Helheim is finished but i still have work to do on Muspelheim. I'm going to add Surtr and his anvil.

[Location] Yggdrasil Realms
These "Yggdrasil Realms" are a mixture of actual realms, and locations in larger dimensions
These are not entirely accurate to the original myths
Although in Norse mythology there are Nine, there are seven here
Niflhiem
This totally cold location is the phantom plane people go to when they die. Includes predominantly the Duat (Egyptian) and also Hel (Norse).
Muspelhiem
Also called The Forge of Creation, it is a dimension made entirely of primevality, which appears as totally hot fire to most species. Notable inhabitants include Surtr.
Nidavellir
This is the home of the svartfalfar, commonly referred to as "dwarves", "elven dwarves", "nidavellins", "Yggdrasilin dwarves", or "Norse dwarves", these creatures are descendents of the Dokkafar (dark elves) and misir (people of Midgard).
Notable created artefacts include: the Geat Artefacts of the Nine Realms(mjolnir, draupmir, gungnir, skinbladnir) and the Great Artefacts of Toriris (Vorpal Sword, Excalibur).
Misiria (Midgard)
This is a planet that orbits the star Fen-Ra, and is the habitat of the Misir, a humanlike race descended from the ancient Alfar (ancestors of ljosalfar and dokkafar). Only planet in Ordinary Space be connected to Yggdrasil. Jormungandr the Midgard Serpent acts as a Saturn-esque belt
Elfame
This "realm" is in fact a vast continent in the dimension Toriris, and includes Alfhiemr (ljosalfar and dokkafar) and Asgard as a grand city to the north-west.
Ljosgard (land of light, mid east) is the capital of the Light Elves Nation/People, and Dokkagard can refers to one of two things: a future where the dokkafar are not oppressed, or to a nonexistent city where the dokkafar plot to overthrow the ljosalfar.
Jotunheim
This realm of the Jotnar - a species the Aesir hate immensely - is actually just icy caps surrounding Elfame. Many storms on Misiria can also transport one here.
Vanahiem
This is a realm (read: finite dimension) situated "above and beyond Asgard". The dominant race of this realm are the Vanir, including Njoror, Njorun, Freyr, Freyja, Mimir (not myth accurate) and presumably many more.
