i had Shelley's ode to the west wind in my semester 3 poetry paper and gawd it was a rollercoaster ride reading about his life because this guy was a fucking womanizer i absolutely hated it, especially being a woman, I was disgusted to read about the life he led (read: wasted) in disguise of "unconventional ideals." Wannabe unique. I'm giving this context because today I watched the movie Mary Shelley and oh my god I cannot just praise the makers enough for the way they created this masterpiece. Absolute cinematic banger. Dark academia aesthetic? ✅ Gut wrenching psychological and empathetical experience? ✅ Brilliant cast with brilliant acting? ✅ The warm embrace of the transformation of a girl into womanhood? ✅ Doctrine of feminism in an age where bad boy (manwhore) and innocent girl wasn't a trope but an actuality of a society? ✅ The making of Frankenstein? ✅ The journey of blooming individuality of a young female writer of 18th century society, in a quest for an originality that appeals to her and makes the world accept her works, giving duly credit to her name and her name alone and not assuming it as a work of the already infamous companion (Shelley) she's been living with? ✅Details about other writers/poets of the age without getting the focus off of the main character i.e. Mary? ✅ A two hour run-time with raw, unabridged and autobiographical narrative? ✅ Mother Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin being proud? ✅

To all the writers, poets, especially my women, all the literature lovers and suckers and even the ones who have nothing to do with it, or absolutely hate it, this movie is for you. GO. WATCH. IT. RIGHT. NOW.
