An Education in Attraction, Chapter 8
Pairing: Reader x Gojo
Summary: It's spring when you start your Master's degree. As the flowers and leaves unfold, so too do your feeling for Gojo
Warnings: None
Previous Chapters: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
Ao3: PlaidSparrow
Early Tuesday morning you receive an email from your Learning Theories professor informing the class that he’s ill and class is canceled, leaving your afternoon free. The notification on your phone wakes you up bright and early, so you eat a filling breakfast at the cafeteria and try to wake up for the rest of your day. Since Gojo isn’t in the Learning Theories course, you send him a quick text asking if he’d like to work on the project after your Curriculum class.
He’s generally quick to respond the other times you’ve messaged him, but you haven’t gotten an answer by the time you’re ready to head to your Curriculum class. It’s possible that he’s not on campus, though it seems his attendance in class lately has been much more regular than it was at the beginning of the term. You conclude he’s probably busy, but any free time this late in the term is a godsend. You can build out the research section in the meantime, finding and citing sources has been extremely time consuming.
Campus is in the full swing of summer. It’s bustling with more undergraduates and foreign students than usual- here for short term or study abroad programs. The sun beats down as you take the familiar walk to the Graduate School of Education, the humidity makes the air thick and your shirt stick to your back. It’s a relief when you make it to your building, savoring the blast of air conditioning as you push in the door.
You set up for class and begin talking to Kuzume about when she’s free this week when you feel your phone buzz in your pocket. You excuse yourself from the conversation and check- Gojo is free after class today, and he wants to continue to knock out some of the fine tuning of your project.
It would have been nice if he had responded before you left your room this morning, you huff internally. You’d forgone bringing your research notes for an additional text in your field, which won’t be very useful for working together. Maybe you can just run back to your dorm and meet him in the library afterwards.
You’re about to send a response when the man himself enters the room. You catch his attention and he gives you a quick nod of acknowledgement. You’ll just tell him your plan after class, no need to keep your phone out when the lesson will start any moment. One thing that hasn’t changed is Gojo’s near tardiness to class.
Class passes quickly in a rapid paced lecture from your professor. You’re busy taking notes and absorbing the new information about evaluating effective curricula. This framework could affect the project you’re working on, but more importantly, these skills can help you better assess if your students are learning and what they’re retaining. While high school students have mastered the basics in each subject, it’s imperative that they can build deeper understanding before moving on to higher education or the workforce.
After the lecture has wrapped up, Saito walks over to you and Kuzume.
“A free afternoon! Want to grab lunch?” She asks. You’re not the only one excited for an unexpected bit of free time.
“I’ve actually already got plans,” you say, motioning to Gojo where he’s still seated across the room. “We’re so close to finishing the project, I don’t want to stress about it any more.”
“No problem at all, we’ll catch up over dinner later?” She links her arm through Saito’s arm and starts pulling her away. You’d updated the two women about your more successful partner work, and Kuzume’s eyes sparkle as she replies. She’s clearly looking forward to an update later.
You nod and promise to hang out soon, then head over to Gojo.
“Hey, sorry for not replying earlier.”
“No worries, I figured we’d walk over to the cafe or library and get started?” He’s casual, seemingly to a fault.
“I actually have to run back to my dorm and grab the correct notes, but I can meet you at whichever is easier.”
“You live on campus?” You nod. “Let’s just walk together.”
It’s a little forward of him to invite himself over, but it should just be a quick stop. Plus, you reason to yourself, it’ll be the fastest way to dive right into the paper.
“Alright.”
The walk back to your dorm is mostly quiet, and though it’s not uncomfortable, you can’t blame the sweat or your anxiety completely on the humid weather. You unlock the door to your apartment and open it wide.
“Come on in,” you say. “It should just take a minute to find them.”
You’re not quite sure where you left the research notes, you have piles of texts on your desk and on the side table next to your Western style bed. Gojo slips his shoes off and comes into the room. He’s quiet as he surveys your space.
While you sift through the loose pages of notes on your desk, Gojo steps closer to the wall, hands in his pockets, and looks at the photos you’ve put up on the wall- your family, friends from undergrad, your home abroad. Above your desk there are smaller pictures and keepsakes from your travels around Japan.
The pages on your desk are mostly notes from your other class, and won’t help with the project.
The right notes must be in the stack of books on the floor. You grab them and sit on the bed, quickly paging through your handwritten notes. Gojo turns to look where you’re sitting and you look up at him. His head is tilted just slightly as he looks down at you, and it suddenly feels very intimate to have him in your space. Even though you’ve warmed up to each other, your conversations with Gojo have centered around academics, you know hardly anything about his personal life. Now he’s seeing yours on display.
Looking around the dorm, you try to imagine what he might see in his first time viewing it. Light from the window pours across the room, painting the natural wood furniture in warm brown tones. Besides the piles of books, you’re mostly tidy. You’ve kept decorations simple- just a couple of small plants and the photos of your favorite memories. Surely seeing your dorm won’t change his opinion of you, but it’s almost unnerving that Gojo hasn’t said anything at all about your space.
You look back at the stack of papers in your hands, the notes have got to be in this last group. After swiftly shuffling through the pile, you finally have what you need. Gojo is still absorbed in looking at your stuff, you can just see a quarter of his face from the angle, but you take the moment of peace to absorb him.
Your eyes trace the slant of his jaw and the back of his neck. For the first time since he was rude to you, you feel your face warm and your stomach flutter. He really is handsome, and since you had puzzled out his dedication to his future students, your heart had irrevocably softened towards him. While he’s distracted, you allow yourself a moment to fantasize- perhaps he’d like to stay friends or colleagues after you finish working on this project. You can imagine meeting him for coffee or having him over to study, maybe even growing closer.
“I found them,” is what you force from your lips. You don’t want to spend the whole afternoon with Gojo surveying your room.
He finally tears his attention from your personal items and turns to face you. His expression and posture are totally neutral and comfortable, as if he’s visited a thousand times.
“It looked like the library was pretty quiet today. Want to work there?”
“Yea, sure.” You respond.
Gojo leads the way back to the library, where the two of you settle in the annex. The good weather must have drawn most of the student body outside, because the usually busy space is emptier than normal. You settle at one of the smaller tables and begin to review the data points to support your curricula plan.
Since your working relationship with Gojo has improved, the two of you have made excellent progress on the body of your paper- nailing down learning objectives and discussing where your fields might have some commonalities. If you continue working at this pace, there should be plenty of time for edits and adjustments before it’s due.
Conversation is moving quickly and you’re rapidly typing some notes as conversation lulls for a moment.
“Soo.” Gojo interrupts your note taking flow. “You didn’t go to school here?”
You look up at him and pause your typing.
“Yeah. Actually all my school before this program was abroad.”
He flips the pen over his fingers again. And again. His fingers are slender and graceful, and the bones of his knuckles are delicate in his large hands. He’s dexterous and purposeful in his movements. He’s staring down at the pen and you can’t read his face through the sunglasses.
He stays quiet and you suppose that’s the end of it and turn back to your computer, trying to remember what you were typing.
“Did you like it? The summers?”
Automatically, your eyes flick back up to him. His expression hasn’t changed, he’s acting like his attention is entirely consumed by the pen.
Apparently, the trip to your dorm has piqued his curiosity. While your upbringing outside of Japan is usually an eccentric fact when you introduce yourself, it’s never really come up in conversations with your partner. It’s a bit touching that he’s opening up and asking you.
The immediate answer to Gojo’s question is yes. But because it’s the first time he’s really asked you about yourself, you take a moment to think about what the summers were like. When the words do come, they’re slow and sweet with nostalgia, like the maple syrup on pancakes you once ate. You take your time when you do reply.
“Yeah. I liked it a lot. My parents both worked during the day so I kind of got to do whatever I wanted. My friends and I would ride bikes through the neighborhood or hang out at the park. While I enjoy school now, it was really nice to have the time off.”
You pause, not sure if you want to ask the question on your lips. He hadn’t reacted poorly the last time you pushed a little, so you commit to speaking before you can change your mind.
“Did you enjoy your summers? When you were younger?”
You keep your eyes on the computer screen, casual just like he had been, but you can feel his attention switch to you.
Gojo seems to take a moment to consider the question. His expression doesn’t change and you wonder if he might just change the subject like the last time you met.
"They were busy."
You nod. That seems to be the consensus from the students you've taught and the other pupils in your Master's program. You’re pleasantly surprised that he answered at all, and you don’t expect any more than that. Though you’re on good terms with Gojo now, his answers are generally still clipped and to the point.
"I spent most of my summers studying. Not a lot of free time."
When you look up at him, there’s a hint of a furrow on his brow.
But his expression shifts to an easy grin in the time it takes you to blink and then he’s back to his normal genial disposition.
“At least that’s paying off now. I get to miss class and travel just cuz I’ve already written papers.”
A huff that might be able to pass for a laugh escapes you. “If only we were all so lucky.”
Gojo leans back in the chair and rests his hands behind his head. “It is nice being able to cite myself in the research section. I bet no one else in the program can do that.” His smile is a little conceited, and you’d be less charmed if it was worn by anyone else.
You make a point of looking back down at your computer, but internally you’re intrigued. Gojo’s never been quite so open with you, and you find yourself eager to learn more. The two of you work well together, and you wouldn’t mind getting to know Gojo better outside the context of your project.
A month ago, you wouldn’t have dared to follow up with a question, but something’s shifted in your time writing together. After his last answer, you’re nearly positive that he won’t react negatively if you do push for a little more info now.
“You still seem pretty busy. I don’t know if anyone else in the program has missed as many classes as you either.”
Your voice is light, and you’re pleased to tease him back after he had caught you off-guard in the cafe last weekend.
“Special case, remember?” He taps the side of his head. “If I want to be able to cite my articles, gotta write ‘em first.”
So he’s still working in academia while enrolled in the program. You’d thought teaching on the side was bad enough, you can’t imagine keeping up with assigned readings and assignments plus outside research and writing. Evidently Kuzume and Saito were right.
If anything Gojo seems to be invigorated by the good natured ribbing. His smile is as wide as it was in the cafe and the two of you have done some of your best work these last couple sessions. Perhaps all along you just needed some banter to grease the wheels of your relationship.
“Truly, the world is deprived of Gojo et al.”
He beams at you, “Not for long. The program’s only two years long.”
You can’t help a good natured eye roll at that.
You settle back into actually working after that, and the last thirty minutes in the cafe prove fruitful. Gojo is engaging and is insightful on where to insert citations, and your own thoughts are met with genuine consideration. Your fingers are nearly sore from typing and he’s written several pages of notes too.
You’re almost regretful to cut things off, but morning is turning into afternoon and there’s still reading you’ve got to finish before class tomorrow. So you finish typing one last sentence and then flex your hands. Summer vacation, with free time and a break for your hands, hangs deliciously just a month out of reach.
“I think that’s a good place to stop for today. I’ve got to head out and do some more reading. If we have a couple more days like this, we’ll finally be done.”
Gojo is busy scribbling onto his pile of notes, but you’d like to think he feels as accomplished as you do. There’s another month before the due date, but it’s worth having time to revise and proofread on an assignment this big.
“If it’s for Curriculum, watch out. The next chapter’s a pain. Took me over an hour and the author still didn’t get to the point.”
He must be talking about the flowery author you’d been reading last week. You smile back at him and start to pack up your things. Maybe you do have more in common than you thought.

-.-. .... .- .--. - . .-. / .----
December 22, 1985
“That’s awesome… ‘cause now I’ll finally be able to radio and talk to you whenever I want—no more fighting Nancy for the phone.”
“Yeah…” then Will slips a pair of brown gloves onto his hands, and as he stares down at them trying to think of what else to say, only one thing pops into his head—how he went along with Lucas’s lie about the roll and how much it was actually bothering him. It bothered him because Mike didn’t deserve that—he didn’t deserve to be lied to. And he’d probably be mad if he found out. He always works so hard on his campaigns and lying about the roll just made Will feel like he was a cheater and a bad friend—especially when Mike was standing right in front of him, all smiles and excited at the opportunity to talk to him endlessly on a ham radio—so of course the very next thing to come out of his mouth ends up being; “It was a seven, by the way…”
“Huh?”
“The roll... I found the d20… it was a seven.”
December 22, 1995
Every year Mike dreads his inevitable return to his hometown for the holidays—if it wasn’t for his parents and sisters, he’d never set foot in Hawkins ever again. But he especially hated coming back for Christmas because this particular time of year was forever laced with horrible memories that had a way of cutting into his heart like a sword. Of course, he’d never hear the end of it if he avoided his family’s holiday gatherings. Nancy would pester him, Holly would beg, his mother would cry—his father was perhaps the only one who wouldn’t care either way, he was always the apathetic type, yet he would likely still remind him how much it would break his mother’s heart. So every year, he’d wrap duct tape around his own just to prevent hers from breaking—he’d force himself to make the trip.

Dazai truly has become Oda in every way imaginable now. :’ ) the final words he gives to Sigma are the exact same words Oda gives to Dazai in the original scene Asagiri wrote for the end of the Dark Era stage play, 後は頼んだよ, “I will leave the rest to you.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I really love the progression of the way his eyes look in this chapter, and how Sigma is allowed to have this moment of questioning and rebelling against all the faith Dazai had naturally been leading him to place in him up to this point, which is what I hoped would happen. He’s been confused ever since Dazai first chose him, and everything he’s ever known about how everyone sees/treats him turned upside down by Dazai’s words and actions, and just when he’s finally started to feel like he’s found some hope and lowered his guard, Dazai pulls him back underwater, instantly reinforcing all of Sigma’s trust issues and reinforcing that he should never believe in anyone, because (he thinks) everyone lives to manipulate other people. Dazai’s dark eyes here reinforce that, too, and the other panels around this point where they look white and hollow and demonic, all like Fyodor’s. He appears like an evil, looming force pulling him back under, trying to kill him, when Sigma is so close to the freedom of the air he desperately wants (aka free from pain, which is what he’s been seeking his whole life).
Tumblr media
But then Dazai makes this face, and the first one I posted above, and Sigma understands, even without words, that Dazai doesn’t have evil intent: on the contrary, he actually is bound and determined to save his life -- and the light in his eyes comes out through this determination and kindness, arguably the most light we’ve ever seen his eyes have in the entire manga (in the “I leave the rest to you” panel too). The “No” could be Dazai wordlessly telling him to not leave the water, but my first assumption was that it was Sigma telling himself no, stopping his own train of thought about Dazai being the same as Fyodor and someone he shouldn’t have trusted -- he soon realizes why Dazai stopped him, and that he’s still going to try to save him, that he wasn’t wrong about him, and it’s all because Dazai’s earnest expressions get through to him.
Tumblr media
And it’s just so heartwarming to see how far Dazai has come. :’ ) He tried so hard to save Sigma (doing the most physical action we’ve ever seen him do, really), did his best to be reassuring and comforting to him afterwards, and then reaffirmed his promise to ensure he escaped Meursault alive, his final words to Sigma echoing Oda’s and his last action being to save an orphan, just like Oda did in his last moments. Obviously Dazai isn’t actually going to die, he’ll be saved somehow, but I do think as of right now he really does think this is the end for him, and that he didn’t foresee the elevator dropping -- he was examining the wires a few chapters ago because he thought he might need to know how to open the doors in case Fyodor pulled an uno reverse, hence why he looks more annoyed than shocked when the water starts, but here, when the drop collision sequence is initiated, he looks genuinely shook in comparison. There’d be no reason for him to give the thumbs up if he knew more danger was on the way, either; that’d just be cruel. No, I don’t think he saw this coming, and it’s important that that turns out to be the case: it’s important that he spent what he believes to have been his last moments saving someone like Oda wanted for him, and doing what Oda would have done in the same situation. That doesn’t mean that it’s okay that Dazai throws his life away so easily, and cares so little for his own safety; he still has a long way to go in that regard. But it’s still so beautiful to see how much he’s changed, and how much he’s truly begun to embody Oda and his legacy; the fact that he messed up and miscalculated, because Dazai isn’t infallible, but in turn didn’t hesitate to use his last moments to save Sigma. Oda would be so proud for everything he did here. :’ ) 💖
There are a lot of options for how Dazai will be saved, and by who, but personally I hope (and I kind of expect) that Sigma chooses to not give up on him and ultimately plays a role in saving his life, to return the favor and repay him for his kindness. Not only would it be a beautiful way to initiate Sigma’s ADA entrance exam as people have said, but it would bring the Dazai > Atsushi > Sigma chain full circle: Dazai saved Atsushi at the start of the series, allowing him to (spiritually) save Sigma at sky casino thanks to the growth fostered in him by Dazai, and now finally, Sigma could potentially save Dazai thanks to Atsushi kickstarting his own growth (and Dazai continuing it). Fyodor is overly cocky right now and so tunnel-visioned on killing Dazai, it’s possible that he has no idea that Sigma managed to escape the elevator and is now a wild card; even if Sigma doesn’t go as far as killing Fyodor himself (which I don’t want, tbh; that’s endgame stuff arcs down the line and imo Nikolai and Dazai should be the ones involved with that), he could throw a wrench in the jailbreak duel, and help Dazai and Chuuya get out alive. It would be poetic, and only fitting, for Fyodor to underestimate and be outdone by the kind of person Dazai told him is the strongest in chapter 77 -- a self-proclaimed “ordinary man” -- who could only have the strength to take such action thanks to the chain of kindness that Oda originally started. 💖
#bungou stray dogs#bsd 106.5#meta#this chapter was literally everything i could have wanted i am SO EMOTIONAL#I WILL NEVER BE OVER IT#ASAGIRI GIVING ME LITERALLY EVERYTHING I EVER COULD HAVE WANTED#DAZAI HAS GROWN SOOOO MUCH HE'S BECOME SO MUCH LIKE ODA I COULDN'T BE MORE PROUD 😭😭😭💖💖💖#as soon as i saw that big panel of his face i was like........ he looks like oda......... ASAGIRI I SEE YOUUUUUU#AND THE FINAL WORDS#I SEE YOUUUUUUUUUU#ISTG IF DAZAI THINKS ABOUT ODA WHEN HE THINKS HE'S GONNA DIE BEFORE HE GETS SAVED I WILL SPONTANEOUSLY COMBUST#ASAGIRI PLEASE THIS IS THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY I WILL CRYYYYYYY 😭🥺🥹💖#Dazai was so much like Oda here and Sigma looked just like Atsushi in that one panel DONT TOUCH MEEEE#THIS WHOLE CHAPTER WAS SO PERFECT#I NEED SIGMA TO SAVE HIM NOW#the longest chapter we've gotten in AGES and it was a banger god bless#tbh i really needed this after season 4 lmao i needed a reminder of why i love this series so much :''''') something to soothe my rage#asagiri saw my bitterness at anime sigma and was like 'here u go babe i got your sigma and dazai and oda feast'#probably means next month will be short again and a pov change lmao 🥲💔#gonna enjoy this while it lasts#anyway i was really happy to see that moment of Sigma getting mad even if it didn't last long (and for a beautiful reason)#because he Deserved that#(because that's what i wrote in my fic and i feel vindicated now even if that wasn't the main focus of this chapter looool oops-)

2023 reads // twitter thread
To Shape A Dragon’s Breath
YA fantasy
a young Indigenous girl finds & bonds with a dragon hatchling - the first time in many generations for her people - and is required to go to the coloniser’s dragon academy in their mainland city, to learn how to raise her dragon and the science of its magic
historical inspired setting on the cusp of industrial revolution with steampunk vibes
bi polyamorous MC, Black lesbian SC, nonverbal autistic SC
#To Shape A Dragon’s Breath#aroaessidhe 2023 reads#this is really really good i loved it!#the chapter titles are all like snippets of a story. or like sentence fragments that match up. which is cool#it is definitely more about being indigenous in a coloniser institution than Dragon School - not Super dragon heavy if you want that#I suspect the subsequent books will get into that when she gets big enough to ride and stuff#t’s also def YA! i’ve seen a few ppl assume it’s adult and be like its very young :( but like. I mean its perfectly reasonable for a 15yo m#definitely a Lot of racism and colonialism which is not fun to read! though it's still through a YA lens. there was def a part of me that#was imagining consequences of the narrative as if it were an adult novel#on that line of thought - at the end a lot of it is kind of solved by them going to the king and he's is like. oh no racism is happening?#that's bad i'll deal with those people! which felt like. a little simplistic. but maybe the easiest way to end the narrative for book 1 -#I don't think the author ACTUALLY is going to portray the king as a Good Guy throughout the series - it just felt conveniently like -#a simple YA solution to some very big and complex elements? if that makes sense? (but again - it is YA so it's allowed I suppose!)#some of the worldbuilding (like all the science learning) is probably setup for next books - we don’t really see any practical application#the romances are also subtle and not Overbearing In Book One which i like - leave some space for the series!#also her getting fanmail from a 10yo mixed race girl who looks up to her 🥺#anyway. i really loved it!#oh also it reminded me a little of leviathan. i guess just the steampunk/time period/european culture....#To Shape A Dragon's Breath

more you're where I wanna go (prev snippets here) Buck and Lucy are now real married and greeting "their" guests (also I'm still worried about some of their interactions so maybe tell me if you like it?) 😘
Relief washes over Buck when Bobby, Athena, and Ravi come into view, temporarily clearing away the tension in his shoulders. He and Lucy have one more couple to talk to first. The faces have all blurred together by now. Buck couldn’t begin to say who the silver haired woman and balding man standing in front of them are.   “Tell me, where are you planning to honeymoon this time of year?” The woman asks.  It’s a fair question, being November and all, even if Buck and Lucy have both refused to call it that. They look at the trip as more of an opportunity to travel, and have made that known to anyone in on their secret. Ravi has pushed his luck a bit by taunting Lucy, but otherwise respected their choice.
Buck risks a glance at Lucy. “I’ve done my fair share of traveling and Lucy here has a number of destinations on her list. I told her she could choose.” “Oh, is that right?” The man inquires, looking down at his wife. “How very… modern.” “Yes,” Lucy answers with a mischievous smirk. “It is, isn’t it? Evan is just full of interesting ideas. Aren’t you, darling?”  She reaches around to pinch his side and it takes everything in him not to squirm or yelp.  “Only the best for you, dearest,” he teases back.  The man and woman exchange a glance between them before she motions to move them along. Behind them, Ravi shakes and his cheeks turn bright red while he does his best not to burst out laughing.  “Yes, well, lovely to see you again, Evan. Congratulations.”  The couple hurry to get away. As soon as they’re out of sight Buck and Lucy immediately drop their hands from each other.  “Are you going to be alright?” Lucy playfully shoves at Ravi. “I thought you were going to pass out for a moment.”  “Shut up,” he says, pulling her into a hug. “I am happy for you.”  “Good thing because I can still take you in cards.” Ravi creates some space between them, but keeps his hands on her arms. His teasing expression turns somber. “Just remember what I said, okay?” Buck has to turn away, feeling like the conversation between the two friends is too intimate to witness. It doesn’t stop him from wondering what Ravi means even though it’s none of his business. Buck has plenty of his own secrets, he figures Lucy is more than entitled to hers.

Listen at this rate I would be SHOCKED if we still had time to see that reunion in the chapters we have left. That feels like a whole arc full of potential content and we’re currently Full Steam Ahead on rescuing Sakura.
Unless the specific time we need to wait for isn’t for quite a while still? So we still have time for other worlds first?
I don’t know if I want that, exactly.

I mean she’s right.
For example, my desire to not see Kyle Rondart constantly gives me happiness right up until he appears on stage and then it is just the Agonies all over again.

happy sunday! it’s time for another preview of…
on the same frequency!
PS: the reason i’m doing these this way is because i kept making all these chapter moodboards but i didn’t know what to do with them because the fic is being released all at once, BUT since i planned to share some wips of each chapter anyway, i just decided to make them extra fancy! oh and sunday because the fic releases on a sunday… and seven in total because it was a seven (there’s seven chapters lol) 😈

“And what’s that?” Holly points to a gray box with numerous dials and switches.
“That’s a transceiver. It’s part of my old ham radio.”
“What’s a ham radio?”
“Well, uh, it’s kinda like any radio—only you connect to specific radio frequencies used for non-commercial broadcasting… like it’s meant for personal communication and you can even communicate with people across the globe, although unlike a walkie-talkie, you need a license in order to transmit anything—I still have my license too—actually renewed it last year even though I haven’t touched a ham radio in years…”

Will checks his watch again, it was 10:23 am—What’s taking him so damn long?
Another three and a half minutes go by and then Dustin’s mother’s car comes into view and he watches him exit the vehicle and quickly hurry up the driveway. But before Dustin even has a chance to knock, Will opens the door and huffs, “You’re late.”
“Yeah, sorry. My mom kept arguing with me about not wanting me to go anywhere by myself anymore because of Jennifer Hayes—apparently she’s been missing since Friday—”
“Jennifer’s missing?”

I can't express well enough how loving and excited I am about the mask reveal from the recent chapter !!
It's just the best and shocking part of the recent chapter for me !
Natori clan being relevant again just prove to me what I was saying back in Natori's cousin arc ..
It was clear there's something more about the Natori than Shuuichi himself is aware of yet ..
Natori said he feel there's another reason why people hate the Natori and treat him badly, but he just doesn't know why and only feel they once had some kind of fearful power so that's why no one was glad about the Natori's return by Shuuichi ..
There's also the fact someone destroyed the barriers that Shuuichi put around his family houses .. was that done out of wanting to kill them without lefting a fingre or was it out of someone searching into their houses ??
The Natori do collect the masks of those they exorcise to show off so hmmmm
But is the one hanging in his uncle house a fake one while the real one hidden or ... ??
Also was Clara's searching for this mask too hmmmm
ANYWAY ... I'm really excited and wanna more info .. this mask might be the missing link I've been searching for about the Natori ..

What Happened Upstairs? (Pt. 1)
Two posts in two days baby!!!
Part of Fifty-Eight Days. Follow up from THIS CHAPTER.
Longer continuation coming soon to a screen near you.
WARNINGS: Therapy, early recovery, aftermath of captivity
“You haven’t spoken about that before.”
Grayson blinked, coming back to himself a few seconds too late. He looked up at his therapist, with his pen hovered over his notepad and his eyes boring into his from across the room with interest.
Grayson had been talking, rambling—something he didn’t normally do well in these sessions—but he was so tired, so fucking sleep deprived, it just... slipped out.
Of course Dr. Collins wasn’t letting it go.
“You went upstairs with Myles? In Elijah’s place?”
He hated the way it sounded in his tone; like Grayson had done something noble, something brave.
A beat passed. Grayson wondered how long he would have to wait him out in silence before he would give up and move on. He sighed. “Once,” he relented. “Elijah was sick.”
There was a brief pause like Collins might have been waiting on further elaboration, then he blinked, pushing the bridge of his glasses up with his pen. “Sick how?”
Grayson shrugged; a decidedly petulant gesture. “I don’t know. Sick. Throwing up, fever. He slept for so long, I…” When he could only shake his head, Dr. Collins met him with an understanding nod.
“That must have been scary for you.”
Grayson shrugged again. He didn’t feel compelled to tell him he was right. That those days had been some of the most terrifying moments in the whole two months they spent in that basement. Watching Elijah deteriorate before his eyes. Being forced to reckon with the probability of his death if the sickness continued to get worse. The idea of being left behind without him. Being helpless to do anything about any of it.
“What happened?”
Grayson had started to drift again. When he came back to himself, he could feel the adrenalin spike in his chest, in his fingertips. “What?” he asked numbly.
Dr. Collins’s gaze was centered on his, pen abandoned on his lap. “When your captor took you upstairs that night, instead of Elijah,” he said softly. “What happened?”
“Does it matter?”
“Does it?” Collins echoed in that infuriating way he had about him. “Is it intentional that you’ve avoided talking about this particular night so far?”
“It wasn’t intentional.” Grayson was pretty sure that was true. He tried to avoid as many specifics as he could, this was no different.
There was a certain look he had come to recognize as Dr. Collins calculating Grayson’s own thoughts against him. He was looking at it now.
There were several beats of silence before he said, carefully, “We’ve talked about how you knew what was happening to Elijah when they took him upstairs. What they were doing to him.”
It wasn’t a question, so Grayson didn’t respond. Dr. Collins kept pushing.
“You knew that when you told them you’d go in his place.”
Angry pinpricks of heat rose in his cheeks, but he wasn’t exactly sure why. “What are you saying?”
“Not saying anything. I’m asking. And you can tell me if you really don’t want to talk about it today. I will let it go,” Dr. Collins said. “What happened upstairs, Grayson?”
Pt. 2 coming soon...
