*Throws otp into yet another universe from a childhood fave*
Some random info:
Jamie
First time he found out about the museum was when he was left behind on accident during a school trip
Huge dinosaur nerd. Nearly passed out when he saw his first fossil come to life
Annoyed by Jack and Hiccup's Romeo/Juliet shenanigans
Jack
Jamie's ancestor
Plays pranks on staff by appearing every morning in a different spot
Uses slang incorrectly just to mess with Jamie
Hiccup
Lost his leg when he was transferred from another museum. People still wonder where the replacement came from
Learned modern English for fun
"Oh you think my relationship with Jack is cringe? Well I saw you flirt with Marie Antoinette from floor 3 the other day sooo :/"

since @thelemonsnek posted the comic they did for this au I figured now is a good time to post this! AU details under the cut :>
Ingo got eeby deebied still. not to ancient Hisui, just a museum dedicated to Hisui! he still has amnesia
He works night security. Like the movie, the whole place comes to life at night. why does it do this? why was Ingo involved? idk it’s not important this is a silly au first and foremost
his “warden band” is from the gift shop. Lady Sneasler has decided he’s her warden now because she’s the only noble with no warden in the museum. she kept stealing the actual warden band from her display to give to Ingo. Ingo still isn’t sure how she was opening the case with her claws
Akari is there, and she’s Dawn. she snuck in at night on a dare early in her journey, got caught and gave a fake name, and then kept coming back to visit because a) cool haunted(?) museum, b) as the whole Galactic mess went down, it became nice to have someone who didn’t know her for that. she may have reverse adopted Ingo as her uncle
yes, Ingo is unaware of who Akari really is. he’s BAD at keeping up with current events
he doesn’t have his full hisuian team, but he has a Magneton and Kadabra, they’re good for fending off the museum “pokemon” without actually damaging them. he also has Gligar but doesn’t get a chance to battle with it much
Volo is still a villain. he’s causing the “frenzies” that Akari and Ingo work together to fix. he’s trying to meet Arceus to end his “cursed, half-life existence”. He’s the only person in the museum who views their lives like that, literally everyone else is chill with it. He does have actual Giratina under his command
theres a few versions of Ingo and Emmet’s reunion we came up with but my personal favourite is “Emmet breaks in to steal the azure flute to meet Arceus to get Ingo back, gets caught. By Ingo.”

Natm au idea:
Because of some weird magic, everyone is sent back to their times. But they have all the memories of being in the museum. Those who were alive around the same time desperately try to find each other, those alive thousands of years apart have to deal with loosing their best friends/ loves (jedtavius angst alert). Ahk knows that it’s HIS tablet that caused all this so he tries to figure out what happened and a way to get everyone back together again. And because everyone had the memories of the museum and thus, the future, they’re able to change the course of history by avoiding their deaths or inventing things early etc.

This started out as a concept but I'm currently watching the trilogy with my friends for research. I'm open for questions about it!

Guys, I've wanted to make these for so long.
This is an introduction of sorts for the au; poor Lumine isn't finding what she was hoping for, but she's sure finding SOMETHING.

Sketch comic of @curiositykilledtheradiostar's at the museum au :3c
[image id: a digitally drawn comic, all of it just sketches in vague panel-like positions, without lines distinguishing them. Volo points dramatically out at the viewer, yelling "GIRATNA STRIKE THEM DOWN". In the next drawing, Akari and Ingo are standing side by side awkwardly as nothing happens. Akari looks up at Ingo and asks "do we even have a Giratina?" "We do not." Volo is stunned into silence for a moment, thinking 'wh- they're not serious what the FUCK' then quickly gets outraged and, even louder, yells "GIRATINA."
Next, Giratina is sleeping peacefully, then snaps awake as Volo's yell echoes through the distortion world. Written next to it is the text "slept through its alarm". The comic cuts back to our three main characters, with Ingo checking his dead xtrans, Akari humming jeopardy, and Volo fuming silently as he waits.
Finally, a portal pops up and Giratina emerges, looking away very nervously sweating because it was so late. Both Ingo and Akari jump, visibly surprised Giratina actually came. Volo screams at Giratina, gesturing wildly, saying "of all the unprofessional- YOU'RE LATE??? The child started singing the jeopardy theme song - do you know what that is? A MOCK. The child was MOCKING US. She was mean about it too." End id]

the “damn bitch you live like this” one sounds hilarious lol
IT IS HILARIOUS okay so this au doesn't actually have any WIPs but I really wanted to share it because it makes me laugh
General premise is; Night at the Museum AU :P Hiccup is part of a Viking exhibit about himself and the village of Berk, some of the first humans to befriend dragons and domesticate them. Jack is part of an art exhibit that is based on childhood myths.
Jack couldn't even be bothered to hide his disdain. "What're you supposed to be?" the pig-faced Viking spoke, lips etched with a mocking grin. "The circus?" "What're you supposed to be?" Jack shot back, twirling his staff and pelting snow towards him. Ignoring the yelp that followed, it was Jack's turn to grin mischievously. "The idiot exhibit?"
The word-play was exceptionally inspired. Jack was very proud of himself. The pig-faced guy was now steaming red, and Jack would be more concerned about antagonizing him if the other Vikings weren't laughing at one of their owns expense. "Watch your mouth!" he snarled, stalking closer with closed fists. "There's a reason we're the most respected exhi-" "What my friend Snotlout is trying to say," the red haired one stepped in, placing a hand on 'Snotlout's' chest to push him back. When Jack raised a brow, the freckled one gave an apologetic smile. "Is that we haven't had a new exhibit in years. Our... Welcoming skills leave a lot to be desired."
Jack gave the auborn haired one a scrutinizing look. At least he was nice compared to the others. "We don't really know anything about you," the man said, lips tugging up into an unsure grin. He didn't look all too comfortable with himself, gangly limbs all fumbling over each other. "What exhibit are you for?" Jack debated the pros and cons of telling this group, before deciding they'd find out anyway. "Guardians of Childhood," he droned, because he found the title a little ridiculous. "We're an art exhibit about children's myths." "HA!" Snotlout chortled, slapping a hand on his knee. The other Vikings joined in, all guffawing at the absurdity of Jack's existence. "You're not even real!" "None of us are real," the freckled man deadpanned. At least he seemed to be on Jack's side. "Shut up, Hiccup," Snotlout hissed. "We're more real than he is! This guy is just a fairy tale."

Speed-paint!
I got a new book about Capone and I’ve been reading it nonstop so I haven’t had time to draw, so here’s the speed-paints for the three Refs I have up so far!
I started with Napoleon, using @/rivaldii’s drawing of Lannes as a reference. It was my third attempt at drawing Napoleon and I’m very pleased with how he came out. I also used First-hand descriptions of Napoleon.
I used Richard William’s Animator’s Survival Kit’s walk cycle Key’s and Inbetweens as a ref for Étienne and Gustave (once again, they belong to @/lidensword and @/all-yn-oween).
The little doodle in the corner isn’t really a reference to anything, I wanted to show how Napoleon could feel really big emotions and incorporate some of his guys.
I added a telescope because Kah steals Napoleon’s in a deleted scene and (I think) the movie too.
(I can’t put more than one video, so I’m going to have to make separate posts for the other two) Link to drawing!

Wait the night at the museum idea is cute wait no wait I want flustered Bob who fights with his hands each time he sees you from afar-
your exhibits are down the hall from each other, in the wartime section. as soon as night falls and all the exhibits come alive, he’s across the hall admiring you from afar, pining for you. the guys in his exhibit convince him to talk to you and he walks over and introduces himself, all flustered and wringing his hands. you find him sweet and endearing, and a special romance blossoms from there.

I absolutely love your hijack night at the museum, Au!
But the weirdest thing is that just the other night, I was thinking about an au of this, but I was thinking that either Jack or Hiccup would be the night watchman and the other would be a in a display. But I love what you did WAY more!
You are awesome! And I love what you do!💚💙
Weehoo thank you! :D Tbh I didn't even think about making one of them a night watchman, I was focused on being able to make them actual people from the past, but this is also cool!!

Night at the Museum AU Idea
Tumblr media
(Thread fic originally posted here)
Feeling lost and alone in the future, Steve finds himself visiting the Smithsonian Captain America exhibition over and over, watching old footage of him and Bucky and standing before the lifelike waxwork of Bucky dressed in his handsome blue jacket.
The sculptor captured the jut of Bucky's jaw, the pout of his lips, and the steely blue of his eyes just right. It's more lifelike than the black and white photos Steve has and he can't tear himself away.
The Howling Commandos have waxworks too, flanking a glass display case that contains the original leather jacket and USO unfirom Steve wore to rescue the POWs from Kreischberg, complete with bullet holes.
There are video reels of footage taken on the front lines, and interviews with the Howling Commandos in the years after the war. Steve finds himself sitting in the small auditorium listening on repeat.
But when people start to recognise him and ask for autographs in the exhibit, and when Sam, the guy he runs with every morning, comments that perhaps it's becoming an obsession, Steve forces himself to stop visiting.
His resolve lasts about a week, until Steve can't bear the ache in his chest any longer—and he decides to break in after hours.
But to his surprise, he finds not an empty, deserted museum, but a place that's filled noise and light and—Bucky!
Steve knows it's impossible, but he doesn't care. Bucky and the Howling Commandos are sitting in the exhibit room, drinking and playing cards. They deal him in like old times and Steve spends the evening in a daze of happiness.
He goes back the next night, scared to find that he imagined it all, but it's the same again. He steals Bucky away from the others and they kiss in a quiet stairwell, Steve feels alive again for the first time since the ice.
He knows it's not real, knows this Bucky is a waxwork but he has Bucky's memories, he has his charm, his personality. Steve clings to it, going back night after night.
He invites Sam one night to prove to himself that it's not a hallucination. They all spend a fun evening together until dawn. The waxworks solidify and Sam tells Steve he shouldn't visit anymore. He cautions Steve that it's dangerous, that he might lose himself in the fantasy.
Steve ignores Sam's warnings. It might not be real, but those evenings in the museum are the only time that Steve himself feels alive. He wants to lose himself in the fantasy.
Then, to his dismay, he learns that the Egyptian display is relocating back to NY in a matter of weeks. The tablet will go with it and the Howling Commandos will cease to come alive at night anymore. Steve will lose Bucky all over again.
"It's okay, Steve. I'm not real," wax Bucky tries to console Steve.
"You are to me," Steve protests. "You're the realest thing in this century. It's only when I'm with you that I feel alive."
He plans to try and find a way of keeping the tablet in DC, of keeping wax Bucky alive....when he's called away on a mission to rescue hostages from a SHIELD vessel captured by pirates.
He learns about Project Insight. The Helicarriers. The Winter Soldier. Bucky.
Bucky, the real Bucky, pulls Steve from the river and vanishes. Steve is overcome. He feels desperate and guilt ridden and hopeful and despairing all at once. How could he abandon Bucky to Hydra for all those years? How could he fail him like that?
He's also torn. Steve wants desperately to go and search for Bucky and bring him home, even though he's terrified of what he'll find if he does. The dead eyed stare of the winter soldier still haunts his dreams and Steve fears Bucky might not want to be found.
But leaving now means losing the last chance to spend time with the Bucky in the Smithsonian that Steve has grown to love. The tablet will be gone all too soon and Steve will lose him.
And yet if he doesn't go after the Winter Soldier now, the trail will go cold and Steve risks losing him too. The choice seems impossible.
"There's no question," wax Bucky scoffs at Steve. "Go and find him. Don't waste your time here with me."
"But I'll lose you."
"Steve, I'm not real," wax Bucky tells him bluntly. "I'm wax, brought to life by a magical tablet and solidified by your belief and your memories of Bucky. I'm not real. He is and he needs you."
"He might not want me to find him," Steve protests. "Especially after I failed him."
"You didn't fail him and he does want to be found. He'll let you find him when he's ready. Don't give up. Promise me? Don't give up on him. He still loves you, more than you could know."
"How can you be sure?"
"Because I love you."
"I love you too."
"No." Wax Bucky shakes his head and gives Steve a sad smile. "You love him. Now go and find him, and bring him home."
Steve goes.
It takes months but eventually Bucky lets Steve catch up to him in a rundown apartment in Bucharest. He lets Steve take him home.
They move back to Brooklyn and Steve upholds his promise to wax Bucky. He doesn't give up, no matter how impossible Bucky's recovery seems at the outset.
Steve sticks by him and they work through it all together. (Steve soon realises he has a lot of recovery to work through himself).
It's years until things return to any semblance of normal, but when it does, Steve takes Bucky to the museum of natural history. They break in after hours and marvel at the dinosaurs and waxworks that have come to life.
Steve tells Bucky about the statue of him in the smithsonian, how he helped Steve remember himself when he felt lost and alone in the future.
Bucky wants to see him, so the next time they're in DC to visit Sam they stop by and say hello to the unblinking, unmoving waxwork figure. Bucky stares at the display for a long time. He looks concerned.
"There's no statue of you. Why not?" Bucky asks.
"Y'know, I'm not sure."
It's Bucky's idea to commission one.
And it's thanks to Bucky that the next time the Egyptian exhibit tours the Smithsonian and the statues come back to life, that wax Bucky finds himself awakening next to his very own version of wax Steve, with a note tucked into his jacket pocket that simply reads, 'Thank you.'
The End.

Self indulgent AU idea

Still trying to decide what monsters the others would be. I think I’ll make Sacagawea a thunderbird or something similar. Idk what to make Larry, but I figure he’d be the headmaster since night guard = leader kinds thing. Maybe he can be some king of light related monster (bc flashlights??) but here’s what I have so far.
Ahkmenrah is obviously a mummy. He’s 4018 so the equivalent of a senior/year 12. He just transferred from a monster school in England that had a program for newly awoken mummies to learn English. He’s here in New York (boo York haha) to study monster history. He has a mummy specific disorder known as CMS (chronic mummification syndrome) typically found in very ancient mummies who experienced some kind of complication during the mummification process. Hence the cane, his joints are stiff and sore, he experiences brain fog and is always cold with dry skin. This tablet doubles as a case for his organs and it keeps him alive.
Jedediah is a headless horseman, able to remain alive and moving even without a head. A year below Ahk and part of the schools equestrian club, often found in the stables with his horse. He and Octavius had a past rivalry over their clubs funding, but things smoothed over once the school found a solution to the issue and was able to fund both clubs. From there they became friends and eventually, boyfriends. He’s originally from the south, but moved into the city for school.
Octavius is a naiad, a type of minor water deity from Greco Roman myth. Originally from Rome, he’s in the school after winning a scholarship. He’s captain of the swim team (the MH gladiators) and is in the same year group as Jed. He leads the team like an army, strict and hard working but he’s fair about it, understanding people need breaks at times. His leadership has lead the team to absolutely THRASH other schools in competitions, so he’s quite highly respected by the sports department.
Thats all I got atm, but I do want to expand and give the other characters a monster type. I’m just not sure who’d be what yet.
