It’s rare for Jotaro to take a day off. The man works himself to the bone, be it for the Speedwagon Foundation or for the university he does research for, he’s always on the move, always doing something. So you’re surprised when, once you will yourself out of bed hours after Jotaro should have already been at work, you walk into the living room to find him on the couch, still in his pajamas.
“Honey?”
“Morning.”
You round the couch to stand next to him, and your mouth morphs into a frown. The tip of his nose is red, his are lips dry, and the space beneath his eyes is purple with a lack of sleep. He even has his glasses perched on his nose, a rare sight when he’s at home. Pushing the dark waves from his forehead, you find it’s hot to the touch and the skin there is damp with sweat. “Baby,” you coo, “why didn’t you tell me you weren’t feeling well?”
“’s not a big deal.” With his stuffed nose, it sounds like he’s balancing marbles in his mouth, cute, rounded sounds softening his usually harsh tone.
“Not a big deal? Jotaro, you never miss work.”
He sniffles. “’m fine.”
You ignore him, moving into the kitchen to get the kettle going and to pull a mug from the cabinet. Jotaro follows close behind, lingering in the doorway like a shadow, watching your every move. When you turn, you finally get a good look at him. Jotaro never got sick, and he never stayed in comfy clothes for too long, always getting up early to get ready and only changing into pajamas right before bed; so seeing him now just makes you want to swaddle him. His sweatpants are slung low and lazy on his hips like he’d pulled them on in a rush. A well-worn gray hoodie disguises his giant form, muscles hidden beneath the oversized fabric. And as you drag your eyes down, you notice the sleeves have crept down and over his hands. Cute.
You click your tongue when your gaze meets his, and with diligent hands you pull his hood up and tug a bit on the drawstrings, watching as it just barely squishes his face. You pinch the warm apple of his cheek for good measure. “Go rest. I’ll make you some tea, okay?”
Jotaro takes a long, lingering look at you before he finally sighs, eyes rolling. “But, I don’t need-”
I don’t need your help. I don’t need all this fuss. You don’t even allow him to finish the thought before you’re gripping his shoulders and spinning him around, pushing him out of the kitchen. “Go.”
If he really wanted to, Jotaro could easily fight back, could throw his weight or his height around to stand firm and watch you prep his tea. Instead, he shuffles over to the couch and sprawls out, legs spreading to take up the entire length of it. You prop him up with some pillows for good measure before leaving him with the TV on.
The kettle whistles before you know it, and with a little glob of honey, you’re dropping the warm mug in his open palm. He blinks up at you languidly, fighting off sleep right before your eyes. “Thank you.”
“Need anything else?”
Jotaro hesitates for a moment, taking a sip of tea. His cheeks turn pink, but you don’t think it’s from the illness. “Will you sit with me?”
You take in the scene — Jotaro’s giant legs taking up the whole couch, mug in hand. And, as if sensing your hesitation, he widens his legs a bit and pats the space between them. It’s astounding, really, how someone like him can even fit on the couch in the first place. Shrugging, and risking getting sick to satisfy the one time Jotaro asks you for something, you crawl between his legs and cuddle up to him, wrapping your arms around his waist and squishing your cheek against his chest. The hand not holding the mug comes to rest on the back of your head, keeping you close.
“I’m making your mom’s soup for lunch, and don’t you even think about stopping me.” You nuzzle a little closer, offering his midsection a gentle squeeze.
“Mhm,” you watch his mug come into view as he places it on the table, Jotaro’s other hand moving to rest on your back. “’kay.”
The sounds of shitty daytime TV are punctuated by quiet sniffles and mumbled conversations as you and Jotaro rest on the couch, wasting the morning away together. It doesn’t take long for your weight on his chest to lull Jotaro to sleep, body going slack and heartbeat evening out beneath you. And although Jotaro isn’t feeling well, you can’t help the warmth that spreads through your chest at the idea of being able to take care of him for once. He deserves it, you think as soft snores rumble through his chest. He deserves to be babied.

Out of Touch by Hall & Oates
part 1, part 2, part 3
Jotaro Kujo x Ex-wife!Reader
You and Jotaro meet for the first time in six years. When you try to dodge the encounter, he convinces you to sit and drink, and have a nice talk.
warnings: alcoholic consumption
Spring of 2003, Tampa, Florida
“Mom~”
You turned on your side, hoping for another five minutes of sleep.
“Mom~”
You ignored Jolyne for another second or two. The girl quieted down for a second and you thought your prayers had been answered and she had retreated from your room. Just as you approached the edge of unconsciousness, a heavy form jumped onto your stomach and woke you.
“There you are mom!” Jolyne, your strong willed eleven-year-old said.
“Hi, Jojo,” you smiled weakly, a bit winded from her jumping on top of you.
“I’m hungry,” she declared.
You looked over at your bedside table where the clock laid. 7:14 am. So much for sleeping in on a Sunday.
“Okay,” you took a second to rub the sleep out of your eyes. “I’m up, I’m up.”
You shooed her off you so you could climb out of bed and make your way to the kitchen, her quickly running past you.
“Can we have pancakes? Ooo what about waffles though! Can we have both?!”
You laughed at her indecisiveness. “How about something a little healthier?”
“But mom,” she groaned.
“Hey! We gotta keep those muscles strong! You can’t do your best if you don’t eat well,” you reminded her.
When she was eight, Jolyne had come home from elementary school whining about how all the other girls in her class played softball and she wanted to too. You were hesitant at first, telling her that just because everyone else is doing something, doesn’t mean she has to do it. After a few weeks insisting she should be allowed to play, you finally agreed. Jolyne had always been a rambunctious and active kid, so you reasoned that sports would be a good outlet for her to let out that energy. After she had a few recurring disciplinary incidents, softball was sounding even better.
To your satisfaction though, after most of the girls quit, Jolyne kept going. After one season, you became a full fledged softball mom, wanting to constantly show up to support Jolyne. She was currently in her third season on her travel team.
The only gripe you had about softball was that it never dwindled her energy, in fact, she seemed more lively. Considering she was up this early the day after she had an all day tournament, you could only sigh. At least she wasn’t getting into as much trouble.
A knock pulled you from your thoughts. “Jojo, can you go get the door?”
“On it mom!” she yelled over her shoulder. A few seconds later and you heard the familiar squeal Jolyne let out whenever your current boyfriend, Anthony, arrived. He liked to stop by in the mornings often.
“Oh shit,” you muttered, hurrying to grab the leftover wine bottle and glass you left out from last night. You did a quick breath test and attempted to fix your flyaways as Anthony came into the kitchen.
“Hey pretty lady,” he said, swooping in to steal a kiss.
“Gross!”
You laughed at Jolyne’s antics. “I was just getting ready to start breakfast, you hungry?”
“I would love to but I’ve got to get to the firehouse, lots of paperwork to do. I just wanted to stop by and say hi.”
You hummed as Anthony turned around to start play fighting with Jolyne. You turned back to contemplate what to cook. The longer you looked at the contents of the fridge and pantry, the better pancakes sounded. Looking over at Jolyne’s bright smile, you gave in and reached for the pancake mix. While you prepared the batter, you sent Jolyne and Anthony to run outside and retrieve yesterday’s mail. Anthony carried her outside on his back.
Alone, your thoughts wandered over your two year relationship. Anthony was a very attractive man: tall, dark, and extremely handsome. He worked as a fireman, which matched his heart of gold he seemed to have. You two had met when you and Jolyne moved from northern Florida to Tampa, him introducing himself at the bar your new neighbors had offered to take you to. After just sitting around and getting to know the local gossip, you had gotten up to order a drink from the bar. When some asshole bumped into you and spilled your drink all over the counter, Anthony, who had been friends with the culprit, offered to buy you a new one.
Although back then it had been four years since you and Jolyne’s father, Jotaro, divorced, you were hesitant to accept Anthony’s invite to go out for coffee. After your close neighbor had incessantly annoyed you about it, she eventually convinced you to go out with him and the rest was history. Completely ignorant to the world of stands and evil, he was a nice place to take sanctuary in.
“Mom! You got an important letter from your job!”
“Hm?”
You turned back from pouring the batter into the pan to see Jolyne handing you a letter while still hanging from Anthony’s back. The letter was addressed to Y/n L/n from the Speedwagon Foundation. Worried about the contents, you tore it open and began reading.
“Well, what does it say?” Anthony asked.
You sighed a breath of relief. “They’re giving me an award for my recent research publication.”
“Woah, no way! Congrats babe!”
Anthony kissed your temple while you let the growing anxiety fade away. You honestly had been expecting it to be a letter detailing a new stand user issue. While you did work in the Speedwagon Foundation’s research sector, they also had you hunt down concerning stand users. Having been doing so since you were seventeen and went on the 50 day journey to Egypt.
“When are they giving it to you?”
“This Saturday, 7pm.”
“It’s a date then!”
**********
“Thank you so much for watching her. It’s not often I get invited to 21+ venues.”
“It’s no problem, y/n, really! We love Jolyne like one of our own.”
Your neighbors, the Williams’, bless their hearts, were about the only family that you had ever trusted to watch Jolyne. Being a stand user as well as working in a dangerous research field, you had a penchant for attracting all sorts of evil. When you gave birth to Jolyne, there had been complications with the delivery and you ended up having to be rushed to a nearby emergency room instead of going to the Speedwagon Foundation like you planned. Everything was going well until Jotaro ended up facing off with a stand user impersonating a night shift nurse. He ended up nearly beating the woman to death, and ever since that day, you had been living life constantly looking over your shoulder for Jolyne’s sake.
After divorcing and moving to a new area, you were hesitant to let then five year old Jolyne play with other children or go to their houses. After thoroughly observing and testing your neighbors by running background checks and consistently bringing out your stand at random intervals to see who would look, you concluded that the Williams’ were not stand users and that their daughter did just want to be friends with Jolyne. It worked out in your case because you soon had friends to rely on, and could find a babysitter with ease.
Now getting ready for the banquet tonight, you stood in front of the mirror doing your makeup just how you liked it. While adding finishing touches, your cell started ringing and Anthony’s contact ID popped up.
“Hey babe.”
“Hey, y/n! How are you beautiful?”
“I’m good, just getting ready for the ceremony.”
“That’s great… Hey listen babe, I don’t have much time to talk but I can’t come tonight. I’m sorry for the late notice but one of the guys’ wife is having their kid and he needed someone to take his shift. It’s gonna be overnight so I won’t get off until about 8am.”
You frowned as you looked down at your nails. You already didn’t want to be heading out anyway for a silly award, but now that Anthony wasn’t coming, the desire to stay home was sounding really appealing.
“Y/n?”
“Hey sorry, spaced out.”
“Are you mad?”
“No, no. Don’t even worry about it. I’m just gonna go, get the award, and come home. I’m not feeling staying out tonight.”
“Alright, well stay safe. Have fun and call a cab if you drink anything.”
“Okay, dad,” you teased him.
He laughed. “I love you.”
“Love you too.”
The phone beeped when you hung up.
**********
“Right here is fine, thank you.”
You handed the cab driver some money before shouldering your purse. The foundation had rented a banquet hall for the ceremony. Along with you and your research team, a few other people were also receiving awards tonight. Consequently, the crowd was extremely large as people from all over the company (lots non-affiliated with the stand research division) were gathered for the big event. Dinner would be served at commencement, then some words from the current CEO, awards next, and finally happy hour. You planned to slink away immediately after you got your award.
“Y/n!”
You turned to look for the source of the voice and found a few of your colleagues from your research team standing around a table right up front and center waving at you. It seems like you all were the big honorees of the evening.
“Hello, congratulations everyone.”
Lucas, a fellow from the team, came up with a waiter following him with a tray of champagne flutes. The drinks were quickly dished out.
“Congratulations to you, our fearless leader, who without you, we would have never got the funding.”
You snorted. “Well it’s easy to bust balls when I know all the higher ups. That’s one thanks I can give to my ex-husband.”
A few chuckles could be heard before the emcee asked people to take their seats. You turned around to quickly down the champagne before sending a silent plea to the waiter for another. The drinks could at least help with your nervousness.
**********
“Wow, no one told me I’d have to speak!” you nervously chuckled.
“Um, I’d like to thank my team. Everyone here did so much investigation, tests, wrote up reports. They seriously put in the overtime.”
Your eyes scanned over the large crowd watching you. Your team was the last to be awarded, so everyone was patiently waiting for you to wrap up so cocktail hour could start.
“I’d also like to thank my daughter, Jolyne. I can’t tell you how many times she made me coffee in the dead of night while I stayed up working.” That remark earned you a chuckle from the audience. You felt a little looser knowing you made them laugh. As you looked around, your eyes landed on a familiar pair of blue ones way in the back of the hall leaned against the wall, staring you down intently. You swallowed thickly, not believing it to be the last person you’d ever see here.
“Uh, thank you for the award.”
You briskly walked off stage and back to your table, already grabbing your purse and other belongings. The emcee got back up to announce the bar was once again open, and cocktail hour had begun.
“Y/n, wait!”
Lucas reached out a hand to stop you from rushing off. With a small amount of shame, you turned back to see your team staring at you rather quizzically.
“Why don’t you enjoy a couple drinks with us?”
You silently prayed for whatever entity resides above to strike you down right there. While you really wanted a drink right now, you’d rather do it alone in your house where you could wallow in the silence between sips.
“I really need to-”
“Come on, one won’t hurt!”
Lucas and the rest of the team flagged down the waiter for a round of a stronger drink this time. By some sick and twisted fate, your evening was just beginning.
**********
“You’ve got to be kidding me! You’re not even drunk yet?”
You smiled at Melina, another girl from the team, as you nursed your beer. A few rounds of shots had been dealt and the rest of the team was pretty drunk. You on the other hand, better at pacing yourself than them, were just beginning to feel the buzz. The alcohol had done well to soothe your anxiety, but the nagging feeling of being watched remained.
“I’m going to grab another drink,” you announced.
Making your way through the throngs of people, you arrived at the bar and flagged the bartender down.
“I’ll take a shot of tequila, thanks.”
“Wanna start a tab?”
“I’m paying for her,” a booming voice said as a debit card was slapped down.
The bartender quickly disappeared to run the card, and you contemplated running when you realized who was standing beside you.
Swallowing your anxiety, you refused to make eye contact with him. “You didn’t need to do that.”
“Call it a gift for your award.”
“The only gift I want from you is to leave me alone.”
Jotaro sighed next to you, leaning on the bar so he could stare down at you. You still refused to look at him.
“Don’t make this difficult, y/n.”
You snorted. “Where have I heard that line before?”
Distantly, you recalled the night he placed the divorce papers on the table and announced he would be staying at a hotel while things finalized. He had told you the exact same phrase while you ugly cried and interrogated him. The whole night was underscored by Jolyne sobbing away in her room.
The bartender arrived with the shot and set it down. You quickly picked it up and slammed it, setting the glass back down.
“Thanks. See you around.”
You set off to leave, but a strong arm pulled you back.
“Jotaro,” you warned.
Jotaro dropped your arm before sighing. He took off his signature hat to run his hand through his hair. “Can we just talk?”
You stared at him in surprise. On the outside, he looked like the exact same Jotaro you once knew. Donned in his signature flashy style with a face that could kill. But his eyes held an emotion that wasn’t the normal fire in his soul. For a second, when he asked you to talk, he almost looked mournful, like he was trying to save something. In all the years you had known Jotaro, he was never once concerned with matters of the heart. If anything, he would rather get pummeled over and over again than admit he had feelings. You glared at him before sitting down on the barstool.
“One drink. You have the time it takes me to drink one drink.”
**********
“What’s that supposed to be?”
“Tch. Don’t play dumb y/n.”
You looked down at the small black box Jotaro had placed in your hands. Never one for lots of words, Jotaro had just explained he had a gift for you before putting the case in your hands, a small engagement ring looking back at you.
“I’m asking you to marry me?” he said, his hands shoved in his pockets and eyes casted to the side.
“Why?” you blurted out.
Jotaro sighed and took his hat off. In a rare moment of vulnerability, he kneeled down in front of you while you sat on the bench in the park you two were at.
“Because you’re the only person in this fucked up world I could ever love; I could ever trust. I don’t know what I’d do without you.”
“Jojo…” you started as you teared up.
He caught you as you practically fell into his arms while repeating yes.
**********
What was supposed to be one drink, quickly turned into one drink and a shot. Then Jotaro ordered another shot for the two of you, then one more for good measure. You weren’t stupid, it was easy to tell when someone was building up liquid courage.
The conversation first began with him asking how you and Jolyne had been. You rolled your eyes and told him ‘fine,’ stating that she was making friends and a star on her softball team. Jotaro remained amicable in spite of your passive-aggressiveness. The more he got you talking about your daughter, the more you began to open up to him. It was nice to know he still wanted to know about her, even if it was the bare minimum. As the night went on, he somehow convinced you to show him a few pictures of her from your phone and you two quickly began reminiscing on the days when she was just a toddler and barely walking around. Eventually the conversation shifted to his life and search for the stand arrows. He told you about his uncle he discovered and you gasped at the revelation that Mr. Joestar had cheated on Suzi Q, the woman who became like another grandmother to you when you and Jotaro were married. When you two came home from your first semester away at college and announced you had gotten eloped, Suzi Q and Jotaro’s mother were the only people to support you initially. It hurt to know she had been emotionally backstabbed.
“He’s lucky he’s an old man now, or else I’d seriously kick his ass for doing that to her.”
For the first time in a long time, most definitely due to the fact that he had been drinking all night with you, Jotaro laughed. And when he laughed, the whole room shook with him. It was the first time you had heard it in years and it put a loopy smile on your face while you laughed with him. When he realized how loud he was, catching the eyes of a few others, he quickly quieted down, a twinge of embarrassment and anger easily seen on his face. Upset he stopped laughing and worried he might cause an uproar (being the hothead he is), you reached over and placed a hand on his. He looked at you with surprise, before turning up his hand and offering you his palm. He smiled as you giggled at the action.
As the conversation progressed, it was clear that you were both exuberantly drunk, but it didn’t stop you from ordering one last drink.
“You sure can put them away now. You used to puke after two shots back in college.”
You snorted. “I’m well practiced now.”
You looked down at the time on your phone, not realizing it was soon approaching 11:45pm. Looking up and around, you noticed how the hall had seriously cleared out, most of the initial crowd gone.
“Shit, it’s late.”
You stood up and looked at him, a bit sad this night was coming to an end. The alcohol had opened up all the scars on your heart and reminded you of how much you missed him, but the small-voiced rational part of your brain was reminding you that things couldn’t stay like this.
“I’ve got to go. It was nice catching up, Jojo.”
Wanting to leave on a positive note, the drunken devil on your shoulder convinced you to lean in and give him a chaste kiss on the cheek. Completely normal, right?
“Y/n, wait.”
Jotaro grabbed your waist and pulled you further into him, your chests colliding. He was still sat on the barstool, so you were somewhat even in height for once, meaning your breaths mixed in the air. It was a familiar position that had both of your hearts pounding rapidly.
“I’ve missed you calling me that.”
His hand was heavy on your waist. Not wanting to lose balance in your stupor, your arm landed on his shoulder.
“You used to tell me you hated being called Jojo,” you whispered teasingly.
He huffed and looked down. “I was lying.”
He looked back up to you with eyes as deep as oceans. “I don’t want to be anything except your Jojo.”
You softly gasped and he took it as his chance to pull you in for a soft kiss. Your lips barely moved against each other, just savoring the fact that they were once again reunited.
Once upon a time, Jotaro would have handed you the world on a silver platter. It wasn’t by coincidence that you got married so young. You two were passionate, devoted, in love, but seasons change and people do as well, and Jotaro could no longer fill the superman-esque job he had been born into. At this point, it had been six years since you two divorced. Both twenty-six then and thirty-two now, he felt more like a stranger than someone you used to love. After having had so long to contemplate your relationship, you wondered how much of it would have happened if you two had never went on that journey. Seeing so much horror at seventeen scarred you two, and you definitely had a relationship built upon a trauma bond. You questioned often if it was ever love, or just comfort in shared pain.
Now though, so many years later, with your lips pressed together, there was no mistaking the spark between you two. All the misery you’d experienced in the world of stand users was flushed away at his hot touch. Even if it was just momentary, you knew he could love you the same way again.
“Let me take you home,” he breathed over your lips.
One look into his pleading blue eyes and you knew without a doubt there was no coming back from this.

Is I have a bunch of other stuff to finish, but the Stone Ocean Brainrot Is Strong and I need to get this out now.
not technically an AU, but since canon never went into detail I’m including it on the list, AU covering Post Stone Ocean and Emporio adjusting to Normal LifeTM
Not too many fully thought out bits  because I came up with it. Literally an hour ago but I do have some fragments I want to work with so oNTO THE BULLET LIST >:D
Emporio accidentally making it storm HARD with Weather Report during that car ride so they have to pull over and wait it out because driving was too dangerous. This accidentally ends up forcing some bonding between the group and leads to them all becoming friends
The group gets very mixed vibes about Emporio, particularly about how he’s both incredibly smart but also knows very little about the world and is an emotional wreck
Emporio is both incredibly shy and awkward but also desperate for positive affection and proof they’re actually alive and here. Ends up being given One(1) head pat from Wes and bursts into tears right then and there
Then when they all try to comfort him it just makes him cry worse, and eventually this leads to him spilling some of his situation. Not the Universe Resetting Stuff, but how he was born in the prison, his mom hid him, how she was killed by a priest and he's been living in the walls ever since, terrified about said priest finding him, and how he was only able to get out thanks to his older sister, her friends and dad who were.... falsely?(not sure how to describe it, most of their situations are weird) imprisoned, but the priest killed them all too before Emporio could kill him back, so now while he’s technically safe he’s now completely alone
As one can image, They Were Not Expecting All That and collectively decide “yeah we’re keeping this kid safe,” leading to them sticking together for a bit when they get to their destination in the city so they can figure out what to do from here
If I’m remembering correctly, I believe that out of the four of them only Anasui would have his Stand so some chaos there when he learns this kid has two, one of which is pretty sentient and makes itself very clear that if any harm comes to Emporio There Will Be Consequences
Also speaking of Weather Report The Stand, it just kinda. Stares at Wes for a bit when nobody's looking. Things are definitely going to be awkward if the rest of the Gang ever get their Stands again
Emporio also talks to the Stand often, and it becomes a piece of comfort for him, however unfortunately it also has a habit of messing with the weather in response to Emporio’s emotions and wants. Florida can expect a lot of flash storms in the coming days
A few days into the five of them being friends and hanging out, they decide to go on a shopping trip and Emporio has stars in his eyes. He’d never been to a store before, let alone a mall. In the end Emporio easily gets the most stuff despite his reservations at the insistence of everyone else, and it ranges from stuffed animals to a new baseball and glove to new clothes(Emporio is positively giddy at the prospect of non-Green Dolphin clothes, and it both depresses the hell out of everyone but also his joy is infections and makes them all laugh)
At some point they end up meeting Foo Fighters, but not as a plankton. Instead they meet Foo’s old User before Pucci had stolen them and made them sentient. Funnily enough, their User’s personality is almost exactly the same as the Stand when they were sentient which is both another knife in Emporio’s heart but also a comfort because Foo gets to still exist in a sense
Jotaro being a good grandpa and recognizing the signs of Emporio’s trauma and helping him work through it. When the Stand aspect of Emporio’s trauma is revealed, he ends up contacting the SWF to get him a Stand Therapist so he won't have to hide it
Let This Boy Be Happy Damnit

Usagi Yojimbo
Fake Marriage AU:
Tomoe Ame x Usagi x Mariko x Kenichi
LISTEN LISTEN HEAR ME OUT OKAY
You know how that one advisor/vassal bastard whatever-his-name-is that convinced Noriyuki to marry off Mariko(lords could pick out spouses for their samurai)
What if...some staff in the court heard this plot and alerted Tomoe Ame before the fucker could bring it up to Noriyuki
And she's like fuck the only way I can think to get out of any arranged marriage is by being married but who can I...
Like always our boy Miya popping up at either the worst or best times possible
Now I don't know what logical loops Tomoe Ame goes through for asking Usagi plus his childhood friends to marry her but even though I don't know the why I know the what and how so let's get this AU rolling
She asks Usagi to take her with to visit his hometown for...reasons, yeah... And when they get there she goes dogeza(because girl is desperate and knows that lil shit gunning for her position will not only do a shit job as Noriyuki's right hand but definitely has the vibes of turncoat for self-preservation and so she needs this marriage) asking them to marry her
And they're like um, who are you asking????
Because the way they're positioned it looks like she's proposing to Kenichi, who is y'know married to Mariko(i wanted this to be pre-marriage but then i remembered Jotaro so sacrifices must be made for best boi)
And she doubles down "the three of you, a polyandrous marriage."
"WHAT!?"-childhood friends gang
Then she explains how it's to prevent a plot to weaken her lords court etc etc maybe some other stuff too to convince Kenichi and Mariko(Usagi is always down to help his friends, he's lied to shogunate spies and cops to protect himself or his buddies, ride or die)
A (reluctant) agreement is made and they do the wedding
Now it's basically
Mariko: Bi-crisis ⁄(⁄ ⁄•⁄×⁄•⁄ ⁄)⁄ women...hot?????(living out her teenage fantasy)
Kenichi: Bi-crisis(Demisexual) (‘///◉⌓◉///’) people outside of Mariko... hot?????USAGI HOT????? [Mariko was the only person he had ever had romantic or sexual attraction too so he assumed she was the only one for him, turns out if she hadn't been his first crush and thus birthing a rivalry with Usagi he would've developed a crush on him too, his type is strong sense of duty and good with a sword]
Usagi: Outwardly= worried about Tomoe's situation and how long this good thing will last before it's snatched away like all the things he's ever loved. (・–・;) Inwardly=YEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHH!!! every secret desire and teenage fantasy is coming alive. \(≧▽≦)/ (huh, so I did have a crush on Kenichi back then...)
Tomoe: ya girl is STRESSED. Having to deal with political scheming, making sure her charade isn't found out, making sure that box she locked up her feelings for Usagi with stays buried deep, AND whatever blossoming feelings she has for his childhood friends because Oh No They're Hot (what is in the water for them all to turn out like this)
Jotaro is out here living his best life, finally getting the two dads he wanted PLUS a cool new mom?? SIGN HIM THE FUCK UP!!!
In summation: Tomoe Ame is living in drama/action/romance anime while everyone else is in a romance/comedy/slice of life anime
Endgame is polycule and Tomoe Ame being confused over how things ended up like this
Tomoe Ame tops them
EDIT: Tomoe's type is cringefail losers, the boys are for obvious reasons but you better believe I'm counting Mariko as one, look at the whole Jotaro reveal situation and say she made no cringefail moves
It's fine now tho, Jotaro gets his two cakes in the end with bonus free desert (does this metaphor even work)
Deberían decir gracias a @ranarenee por la inspiración indirecta para esto
Specifically this Art

this girl lives paycheck to paycheck. due to the debt looming over her head, she’s hyper aware of how much she spends, and consequently, she’s picked up some unique habits. she knows what day of the week certain foods are on sale and has what she refers to as ‘an underground network’. this supposed underground network is actually just a few nice older ladies who grow veggies as a hobby and share the fresh produce with her. she can’t remember the last time she had to buy a tomato. budgeting queen.
her dynamic with her stand, scarlet ribbons, is like those first few episodes of pokémon where pikachu doesn’t want to get in the poké ball. scarlet ribbons just kinda… hangs out. hovers around whatever vicinity SR reader is occupying. bruno once likened their relationship to that of sisters, although he can’t decide which acts as the older or younger sibling between the two. scarlet ribbons enjoys doting on her user and arranging her hair in a variety of cute styles. they vibe together. fugo didn’t know what to make of it at first. he’s having this intense inner dilemma over the unsightly nature of his stand, not wanting to call on it unless absolutely necessary. meanwhile, SR reader is cooking with scarlet ribbons and they’re acting as if it’s the most normal thing ever. a true symbiotic relationship.
a facet of scarlet ribbons’ potential that isn’t discovered until much later is her ability to create clothes. the clothes can only be made in warm color tones, however. the stand was simply delighted at this revelation and frequently uses SR reader as a model for elaborate outfits. the only down side is that she enjoys it a little too much. SR reader has to plead her case that she doesn’t need to be dressed up as sailor venus to go run some errands.
SR reader is the most flexible member of the bucci gang. she also has the best overall stamina. she might not be able to beat the boys in an arm wrestling match but she has the best endurance and can keep jogging along while the others are wheezing for air. ballet legs are crazy.
makes special cards for everyone's birthday, every year, without fail. abbacchio always acts like it's corny but he secretly frames the cute creation. SR reader writes the main contents and scarlet ribbons adds the doodles. bruno and fugo keep the cards they have received in their wallet.
more 'misc' type details:
her personal motto is "well, it could be worse."
if she hadn't pursued ballet before joining passione, she would've been an elementary school teacher.
it is extremely obvious when she doesn't like someone. she's bad at hiding it.
out of everyone in the bucci gang, she has seen the most movies.
in giorno's route, she meets jotaro at some point. SR reader reminds jotaro of his mom, holly.
if pucci had the opportunity to meet SR reader, he'd be surprised that one of dio's sons fell for someone like her. he'd wonder what dio would think of giorno's choice.

Little Casey for Time Difference uwu
Tumblr media
Casey JR have a rol in the future timeline and in the present
I think my vision for the character is pretty /fanon accepted/ like he is basically family for the Hamato's, they are his teachers and beloveds uncles and with Raph being more of /the father/ of this child until he died.
My reason of Raph being the honorary father of Casey is cuz I ship him with Cass and they have a relationship in the AU-
Cassandra and Raph die together in the same event I called "Leo being reckless and falling into a Krang trap" where he have to grow up and take full reponsability of the Rebelion cuz Raph was the one in charge like 60% of the time and Leo was still kinda inmature and take not so good decisions.
At this point the Krang Invasion has been going on for about 5 years, Usagi has been with them for like 2 years and have a really good relationship with toddler Casey. Usagi loves him cuz he likes kids in general, but he is also likes him because he can't be with his own son Jotaro like he wants to...
When Raph and Cass die, Casey was 4 years old, he knew about the death, but this was so personal and so shocking to him, he just stopped talking… the kid was grieving like the adults and no one could make him talk.
Usagi helps Casey with his grieving proceses by making an altar for the dead, he and Leo talk to him even if he don't respond...
The altar helps everyone, even Leo who try to push this own grief to be the leader people needs him to be and with that him and Usagi become more close.
Casey goes no verbal for months, Donatello have teach him sign language just to express his needs like food, play or sleep but in that time Casey just use signs for really basic things.
But one day Jotaro came from Usagi's dimension and the turtles with Usagi let him stay...
Jotaro was there because he wanted to be with his father, Jotaro couldn't just let him go off to a war somewhere else without knowing he's his father, but also Jotaro just didn't say it at first because he's also scared he'd be rejected for it.
(Mariko let his son go just for a little time)
With Jotaro there Casey now have more company, they share a room and they train together... Jotaro is not aware of Casey's lost but he tries to be his friend and work.
Tumblr media
Casey still don't talk but with Jotaro's personality the boy stared to be more open again until the first aniversary of his parents dead. Casey was obviously sad, but he couldn't cry. He couldn't cry the day his parents died and he couldn't cry that day until Jotaro hug him in front of the memorial...
Something in his body just move and he cries... Casey miss his mom and miss his dad and Jotaro was there, holding him.
When Usagi and they saw that they felt so relieved, Casey just needed time, patience and a friend…
At the end Casey spoke again, they were all having breakfast and he asked Leo a candy because he had seen him eat one the night before-
The Hamatos basically threw a party when that happened, they gave Casey a lot of love and little by little he started talking to them more often.
Casey continues to use signs when he is very stressed or when he doesn't feel like talking-
In the end Casey and Jotaro grew up together, Usagi say they are his children in private and Leo feels the same jsj
Tumblr media
But even if Leo and Usagi say that Jotaro and Casey are their children- the children don't see eachother as siblings in anyway (?
When they are reaching adolescence they realize that they have started to have feelings for each other- romantic feelings and they are quite conficted by the relationship their parents have-
They are aware of the relationship that is expected of them and it is basically:
X: The sons of the leader Leonardo!! Casey and Jotaro: Kinda- yes (? X: They are brothers! Casey and Jotaro: oh no--
After all the drama with Leo and Usagi separating, consequently Jotaro also leaves and everything that happens in the movie happens
Casey and Jotaro end up separated for almost two years until magical things (Mikey) meet again and start a more "formal" relationship.

Impossible question: who do you think has the saddest backstory in Vento Aureo?
Ok I've thought about it and I'm gonna rank the backstories by degree of tragedy, with methodology, hold on to your butts:
9. Diavolo - His backstory is fucked up, like it sucks his mom was in jail or whatever, but I have zero pity for Mr. Arson McSmashNDash
8. Trish - She breaks Narancia's arm and demands Chanel and Evian when we meet her. Trish's present may suck but she came up ok.
7. Leone Abbacchio - We've all hit that moment of disillusionment when you grow up and realise the institutions that are designed to support our society are in fact irreparably corrupt, yet managed not to collude with pimps and murderers. Abbacchio's personal pity party is sad but he brought it on himself.
6. Guido Mista - Up until like a year before the part starts he was living an easy breezy life, chasing skirts and picking fights he couldn't win. The failure of the justice system is unfair and unfortunate, but Bucciarati bails him out too soon for me to feel too bad for him.
5. Giorno Giovanna - Not that I want a bunch of Giorno kinnies coming after me (again), but while his early life sucked, Giorno gets a full fledged deus ex machina when he's only 4 or 5 that improves his life practically overnight. That's something that goes completely overlooked when people talk about his story, particularly in comparison to the next ones on this list. It got better for him, in part because of his own gut sense of justice, and he's able to come clear-eyed into the gang, unlike everyone else.
4. Pannacotta Fugo - I've moved Fugo around on this list a little. I don't feel any particular sadness when I think about Fugo's backstory; it sucks but it's complicated. I am not a manga purist by any stretch of the imagination, but I tend to defer to the original IP for authorial intent. And in this case, Fugo wasn't designed to have as tragic of a backstory as the other guys (presumably to make it easier to accept his eventual departure)...so I kind of disagree with the anime adaptation making it sadder? I think Fugo could have been a unique character among the group, one whose own personality flaws (i.e. murderous temper) rather than systemic injustice were the reason for his social ostracism. But the anime made him a victim, which idk seems too easy. That said, there's no question his anime backstory is fucked up.
3. Narancia Ghirga - His mom dies of a slow and painful disease, his father neglects him, he runs off and lives on the streets, gets screwed by the people he's come to trust and also the justice system, and nearly dies from a similar condition to what he'd seen his mom suffer thru. People who are supposed to care for Narancia let him down at every step of his life, taking advantage of his good and trusting nature. That breaks my heart.
2. Bruno Bucciarati - My thoughts on Bucciarati's past are well known at this point lol. This man's whole life is a tragedy.
1. Jean-Pierre Polnareff I ran out of colors idk - surprise right lol. We know the tragedy Pol suffered before Part 3 that led him onto that devastating journey, which ended with even more pain and regret. I imagine Polnareff and Jotaro just sorta..floating thru their 20s, conscripted by the Speedwagon Foundation to keep revisiting the circumstances around that traumatic stardust crusade without any real aim or hope of closure. Then Diavolo nearly kills him, which effectively forces him into hiding. He just lives for so long plagued by the problem of the stand arrows, it dictates his whole life, and that really fucks me up man.

"Yes... Dio has been in Speedwagon custody for two years now, and Giorno and his mom are in Italy now. We've visited the foundation a few times and he seems to be doing better. He's slowly becoming less blood thirsty, and he and Jotaro have stopped trading blows on sight-"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rose's update on Dio goes interrupted as a guest approaches her twin sister and speaks this to her, before hurriedly walking away, giving her a worried glance before leaving the building.
"A shadow huh...? Rose stay here, if something is still there I don't want you getting hurt."
Rose huffs at the very idea of her leaving her sister to investigate alone. "As if. I'm coming with you."
"...Stay close then."
Tumblr media
The shadowy figure is gone by the time Shanna reaches the corner, but there's a lock of hair at the bottom of the staircase. The older twin picks it up, eyeing it, then feeling it up with her fingers.
"This color...it's similar to your pink dyed segments, Rose. I guess you were the culprit we were looking for all along! Hahaha!" "Hilarious." As Shanna felt up the hair, she could tell that this was real hair, not fake. "It's not from a wig, this is from someone's hair. But this is a lock, not just some strands. So it must of been ripped out in a struggle or something. Maybe if we go upstairs we can catch the culprit?"
Tumblr media
Hurriedly heading up the stairs, the twins come across a clock just sitting there against the wall. It should be up on the wall, that much is obvious enough, but there was something else off.
"Hey hey Rose, I checked behind this thing... it's a battery operated clock. So it should be still running."
"How strange for someone to just take it off the wall then... it's as if the culprit didn't know this was battery operated. Because to be less suspicious, they would of simply removed the batteries and placed it back on the wall before anyone could of caught them."
"Yeah, and not just that." The one in red exclaimed. "The clock isn't running anymore, which means the batteries WERE taken out after it was taken down. ...That means for whatever reason, the culprit doesn't want us to know what time it is... perhaps to fool us into staying here longer?"
"That makes sense, but why would anyone want to do that? Are we being picked off one by one or something?"
Tumblr media
Suddenly, a feminine, more higher pitched voice speaks up. It sounds familiar. "Heyyyy! You guys are here too? Since when did you two become supernatural investigators~?"
"Sakura!" The two yelled in surprise. "What are you doing here? You're not even in college! You're finishing your last year at the Magiks Academy! ....Right?" Rose questions the witch, which earns a chuckle from the blonde. "Yeah, I am. But my parents happen to be good friends with Nanami's parents, and I got invited to this party because of that. I guess they want Nanami and I to be friends?"
Tumblr media
Raising an eyebrow, Shanna speaks once more.
"...Why are you dressed like a witch when you're already a witch?"
Tumblr media
"Why are you dressed like a dog when you're already a bitch?"
Tumblr media
"AYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
"We're at a party, in a neighborhood where many men and women have gone missing, where the suspect seems highly likely to be supernatural! STOP FOOLING AROUND!!" Rose yells, but these two are childhood friends, the likelihood of them listening to her is slim.

any hazamada headcanons?
I really really need to crane my sights onto more characters outside of part three because part four is so good specifically because there are so many reaccuring characters. Like, I remember seeing Hazamada and thinking, ‘Oh, he’s a little funky, I like him.’ And then not expecting to ever see him again and then I remembered this was part four we’re talking about here— there’s so many little side quests and I love it. So, yes!! I do have some Hazamada headcannons!! Let me know how you like them, I’d love to hear!
He gets ideas from other people. What I mean by that is you know when you see someone buy something and you passed the thing already and didn’t even think about buying it, but now you’ve seen someone else buy it and it’s like, ‘Awe shucks, I should’ve bought that’ ?
Hazamada. Hazamada does that. Except he has no shame about it. Like Josuke and Okuyasu are talking about going to a bakery to get that limited addition cake for this upcoming festival and it wiggles into Hazamada’s mind who’s sitting a bench over. He saw the ads already; could not have given less of a shit. But now he’s already half way to this stupid bakery to buy this stupid cake.
He gained consciousness like two months ago and still hasn’t gotten used to it. He looked out the window in math class and was like, ‘I’m gonna die one day.’ And has been off kilter ever since. Koichi found him trying to transfer his working mind into his stand like some sort of freak immortality glitch by pressing his forehead really hard against it and holding his breath. His lips were turning blue. Koichi had to call Jotaro. Jotaro told him if he ever became immortal from that he would lock him in a metal box and throw him in the ocean. Hazamada believed him.
Hazamada fucking hates cheese. Can’t stand it. When he was a kid his mom wouldn’t tell him there was cheese in something but he knew. It was like a sixth sense. He also knew if she used the same knife to make him a peanut butter and jam sandwich. On that note, he was also the kid who wouldn’t eat a sandwich if you didn’t cut it right.
His favourite idol had a buzz cut so he got one as a tribute to them but found out he had a weird shaped head so he worn a hat until it grew out. Now his hair is super layered because he didn’t leave the tuft of hair at the top of his head so it would grow back even. His hair is so dark and fine nobody can tell.
He tried to make his stand look like his childhood dog but it couldn’t make the right shape so it just turned into a really fucked up realistic furry and it scared him so bad that he still has to sleep with his blankets pulled over his face.
Hazamada doesn’t actually have insomnia but he likes the look of ‘crusty no sleep’ so he obsessively researched special effects in movies (movies are his long time, recurring hyperfixation btw) and found out how to make himself look as sleep deprived as possible. When people ask him why he looks so tired he gets super proud and hides it so badly. He makes a killing on Halloween though. I headcannon he has some American cousins and him and his family visited around that time when he was a kid so he’s uber invested in Halloween and takes it way too seriously back in Japan.

any 5 that youd like for the fan kid asks! -@hearts-and-stars
ahh!! thank you for sending these! they're great prompts.
Tumblr media
📄 - What's their name? If you and your f/o picked it, how did you pick it? Or if they picked their name, how did they pick it?
Alright, so, Jotaro and Eileen could not agree on what to name Jouta. Eileen was on a star-themed kick: Nova, Sirius, Rigel, Astrophel...on and on. Jotaro nearly caved on Astrophel, not gonna lie. Eileen knew, of course, before Jolyne that all Joestars have the star-shaped birthmark but-- like wow. She did not want to pass up the opportunity! Jotaro, on the other hand is stuck on Seitaro (the taro was. A. Coincidence), he would like a calm child...please.
Then Joseph suggests Shīzā. The context behind the name, the filtered stories Joseph told Jotaro as a kid, what Jotaro learned from his Grandma Suzie. It feels like Joseph is gifting Jotaro and Eileen something precious. That's their second baby's name.
But when Eileen holds her son for the first time? Oh, he's a Jouta. Jotaro looks at her like she's crazy. Shīzā becomes a middle name.
🙂 - What was their first word? How old where they when they said it? How surprised were you and their other parent(s) if they have any?
Jouta's first word was a very perky "bye!" Jotaro was leaning down to give his son a goodnight kiss when Jouta squished his little hands on his dad's face.
"Bye!" he chirped.
Jotaro was so confused? Does Jouta not want any goodnight kisses? Jouta giggles and then grabs Jotaro's ears. Ah, he was playing!
Then Eileen comes into Jouta's room for a goodnight kiss and gets the same treatment!
How rude!! He's about a year and three months old when he pulls this.
🚼 - When did they start crawling? Likewise, where did they start walking? Were you prepared for it or did it catch you off guard?
Jouta starts crawling at 8 months. Jolyne is a very good big sister, because she sets a fantastic example.
"Do this!"
Jouta squints at his older sister crawling around.
"Is easy! Go!"
***
Jouta learns to walk in an airport. Eileen was not prepared for this. One minute, she's letting Jouta down so he can play with the tags on the suitcase. Next thing he's half-way to the gift shop! Up until this point he'd been using Eileen's leg as an anchor, so it's a surprise to see Jouta just -- going!!
🤝 - Do they have any friends, real or imaginary? Do they make friends easily or are they shy?
🥄 - What was the first solid food that they tried? How did they like it? What's their favorite? What's their least favorite?
Mashed carrots - big nope! He didn't even close his mouth, Jouta just let the goop drip down his chin. The first try was a bust. They try cheerios and he's much happier. Pieces of cherry were his favourite.
Well, see, Jouta does have a friend. He looks a lot like his Daddy's friend, but Jouta-sized. He's green. His mom and dad can see his friend, but nobody else seems to. Not even Jolyne...

uhh fanfiction preview to hopefully motivate me to actually finish this dang thing
(Whole fic working title: "Upside Down")
(Excerpt name: "It is happening again.")
(Spoilers: Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6)
(Dio is a woman in this, and is named Dea)
(CW: Eating disorder implied, child abuse implied.)
~
[Vanessa and Jotaro are visiting Holly in Japan with baby Jolyne]
"Mom... Are you okay...?"
She wiped her tears. "It's just... I haven't seen you so happy since you were a little boy!"
My god...
I really was happy.
And then...
...it happened.
Him. The devil himself. That fucking nightmare, Sadao Kujo, showed up in the fucking doorway.
Fuck.
If only I had been seeing things. But if he had been a hallucination, he'd look a hell of a lot scarier. The way I pictured him. Who he really was; what Mom didn't have the slightest knowledge of, thank god.
"Mom... I thought you said dad would be away on tour for the whole month."
Even she looked annoyed, rising to her feet to Sadao's direction. "He didn't call me or anything..."
"No, I'll handle this," I told her. "Just stay inside."
Mom looked confused, obviously.
"We'll be right back, we just need to stop by the store..." I lied, holding Jolyne in one arm, and weaving my fingers tightly in Vanessa's hand.
Once we were outside and the door was shut behind us, I told Vanessa, "We need to get to the car. Fast."
"Hey." My dad called after us, "My next show is in Tokyo, so I thought I'd stop by to meet my grandchild!"
As soon as I got Jolyne set up in the car and closed the door, I went in with my teeth bared.
"Don't you fucking touch her!!" I roared. He jumped. "Stay the fuck away from her!!"
I had moved to the U.S. to get away from him.
Yes, it was mainly for Florida's marine biology program, but...
Of all the countries I could move to for school and where I knew the language, the states were the furthest from Japan.
And. Had I not moved there, I wouldn't have met Vanessa.
I told Noriaki before I moved that I had to get away from my father. He was upset, as I was his only friend in the whole country, but he understood.
He knew, just as well as I did, what my dad really was.
~
[jolyne is six]
[phone rings]
I was spending time with my family; what could be more important than that? I let it ring.
But then they called again.
Maybe it was an emergency?
Already fearing the worst, I stood up, crossed the room, and answered, "This is Jotaro Cantillo."
"This is Yorick, I'm an agent from the Speedwagon Foundation."
My heart sank. Nausea overtaking me.
It had to be bad news.
I turned towards the kitchen and watched Vanessa play with Jolyne.
"...Yes, what is it." I said flatly.
"We need your help. Even after Dea's defeat... It's happening again. We may have found more hostile Stand users. It may be that Dea's curse didn't die with her. We're afraid it's not over yet."
It is happening again.
It sunk in. What those words meant.
What they meant for my family.
My mind immediately flickered a scenario where, like what nearly happened in Egypt, I would see the ones I love slaughtered before my eyes.
My child daughter. My beloved wife. My dearest mother. Grandpa Joseph. Grandma Suzy. Jean. Mohammed. Noriaki.
The phone call meant... it was gone. All of it. The joy and the peace.
I would either watch them die, my wife and daughter... or I would abandon them to keep them safe.
Their happiness. Gone. Ripped away. And they wouldn't even know why.
The phone slipped out of my hand and clattered to the floor. But I couldn't move.
"...Jotaro...?" Vanessa called to me.
I couldn't speak.
"Jotaro??"
~
[driving away from home to the airport to japan]
Vanessa was calling me.
It had to be urgent. She knew I was on the road.
"Nessa...?" I answered.
"Jolyne is in handcuffs..." her voice shook.
Jolyne... is in handcuffs...?
"I didn't know what to do or who else to call. They said she tried to steal a car. But she's just a kid! And they put her in handcuffs!"
Fucking pigs. Fucking slimy, power-hungry pigs. Putting their hands on my fucking child.
"...Vanessa... Vanessa, you know this is life or death on my end..."
God, those weren't the words I wanted to say.
"Yes, I know! But... But I don't--... Please, just tell me; tell me it'll all be okay. I don't think I can do this..."
No. She couldn't. Her and Jolyne; they didn't deserve that. To be hunted by pigs and then abandoned.
I nearly crashed my damn car, I was so angry and desperate.
All I could fucking do was two words.
"...I'm sorry."
And I hung up.
It took me a while to start. But I could feel it swelling in me. The agony.
And then, two streets away, a horrible screech ripped out of my throat as the crying forced its way out.
I pulled over to the shoulder of the road.
I tapped my hands helplessly against the steering wheel as my mouth was open in a silent scream.
I brought my shaking hands up to my face, as if attempting to push the pain back in.
My sobbing broke through in a roar.
I cried harder than I ever had in my life.
Would I ever see them again!?
When I could... When I had the breath, I called her.
"Jotaro...?" Mom's voice came through. She already knew something was wrong.
"Mom..." I whimpered.
Would I ever see her again? Was that even safe for her?
~
Nothing will ever be as challenging as having a child.
Trying to make sure you're doing everything right and not harming them in any way. Trying to protect them from the world while also preparing them for it.
But nothing will ever be as rewarding.
Seeing her smile, hearing her laugh. Feeling her breath slow down when I hold her to comfort her when she cries. Every curious look at something new. Every time she makes a choice; what she wants to wear or what animal she wants to learn about first. Even seeing her eat, the simplest sign of life, is somehow the most wonderful thing I've ever seen.
Often, these things are enough to make me want to cry.
And the thing is... Nothing else is more important. Nothing matters to me more than her.
But the universe has decided that that's not allowed.
I wonder...
If I had let my mom die...
If I had made the family curse not my problem, and had let it end with her...
Would I have been able to stay?
Or would fate come for Jolyne next?
Was there ever a choice?
The thing is, it was supposed to be over.
I killed the problem.
But it had already left its mark around the Earth.
The curse's name was Dea.
She had limitless influence. Supposedly, because she had an electric personality. Like a cult leader. She could merely speak to someone and earn their devotion.
To the point where, years after her death, her followers would continue to kill for her and spread her influence, hypnotized.
Furthermore, nearly fifteen years after her downfall, I would learn she'd had children.
Only one of the four I heard about would end up being an arguably redeemable human being.
~
"How are you feeling right now...?" Mohammed asked.
"...Me...?" I shivered from the cold air snaking through my clothes and weaving through my bare bones. "...I've never felt better, actually..."
Mohammed was the only person who knew that was bullshit. The only person there who could see. Most people don't think I have a soul. Because of the way my emotions look.
I wonder what my soul looked like to Mohammed at that moment. Limp, emaciated, dying.
"...Because I got rid of it all..." I murmured. My mind was so loud that I couldn't tell which of my thoughts were actually spoken.
Jean finally looked at me like he knew I wasn't okay. So I guess I did actually say something.
"...Got rid of what...?" He pried.
Of the parts of me that my dad had touched. The flesh with his hands permanently burned into it. It had finally rotted off of me. And now wind and water could weave through my ribcage, purifying me.
Later that day, I saw Star Platinum. I hadn't brought him out consciously.
Scared the hell out of me. He looked nothing like his usual self.
Kneeling in a slumped pile on the floor, head hanging way down, long black hair stringy and thin and lifeless covering his face. Skeletal limbs. No glow around him whatsoever. I'd never seen him in the dark before; he usually had an aura of brilliant silvery light.

part one | part two
Just getting some Jotileen and Holiday Fluff out of my system :)
Oh! There's some suggestive-ness by the way!
In 1992, Father's Day was on June 21st. This was 10 days before Jolyne was born.
Of course, Jotaro and Eileen didn't exactly know exactly when Jolyne would arrive, but Eileen thought that the holiday was too close to her due date to not celebrate it!
Jotaro gave a big huff about it since he "wasn't a dad yet" but Eileen countered with how spectacular he's been to her (and by extension their baby) throughout the pregnancy! There for the appointments, the cravings, the crying, the grosser stuff and so forth! The amount of consideration, tenderness, patience and love Jotaro has given Eileen when she's felt so... So all over the place! Overwhelmed? Happy but scared? She couldn't have imagined a better boyfriend. Especially since Jotaro has been attending university on top of it (two full terms of research papers, readings, lectures, it's a lot even without a baby on the way). Somebody else would've surely buried themselves in the course work and not done much else. So, why not celebrate?
Granted, they couldn't do too much. Eileen was pretty heavily pregnant, and although her due date was on July 3rd... Yeah, she's exhausted.
A week before Father's Day, Eileen proposes that they can spend the afternoon at a nearby beach.
"You can nerd out about the local fauna while I chill with the biddy bug under an umbrella," she suggests.
"... I would like to see more Comet Stars..."
"And maybe you could find me another seashell?"
"...Maybe."
"You know I know that's a yes!"
The night before Father's Day Eileen found herself wide awake. Not unusual, since the little bug liked to roll and kick when Eileen's finally ready to hit the hay. The doctor said as her due date gets closer the baby should've been slowing down a little, but little Jolyne seemed to say otherwise. Eileen tapped out a little pattern where she could feel her little baby kick her stomach. The little bug really enjoyed it.
Jotaro's conked out beside Eileen, his nose pressed against her collar and his arm stretched across her shoulder. His breath is a nice warm puff against her skin. It was cute seeing Jotaro sprawled partially on her, and nice to feel his sleeping body against hers. Usually he climbed into bed long after Eileen.
She enjoyed it for as long as she could, but sooner rather than later Eileen had to pee. She slipped out of Jotaro's grasp carefully. He was a pretty light sleeper.
It's when she's washing her hands Eileen started to think about lunch the next day. The morning would be havoc, getting the towels, bathing suits, sunscreen, medication, go bag (just in case). It would be nice if lunch was already packed.
That's how she found herself in their kitchen at 2 in the morning, making a couple of recipes Holly taught her. Eileen didn't typically like to cook, but when it was for someone - it felt special. Soon enough, everything was tupperwared, and refrigerated if need be. Eileen felt more at peace. When she slipped into bed with as much grace as a heavily pregnant woman could muster, it was with a satisfied smile.
***
"--And give your mom an easy day, alright? She's been working hard for you," Jotaro's morning voice was the first thing Eileen heard.
She kept her eyes closed for a couple more moments, trying to keep her breathing even. It was always a treat to hear Jotaro talk to Jolyne when he thought nobody else could hear.
"I... We're really excited to meet you, and I just," he laughed a little, "I know you're going to be wonderful." He traced a warm finger over Eileen's belly. "Just like your sneaky mother."
Okay, so he knew she was awake, Eileen never claimed to be a great actor. Jotaro's stupidly handsome face smirked at her when she opened her eyes. Smug bastard.
"What time is it?" she asked through a yawn and a stretch.
"We have plenty of time, don't worry."
"Mhmm," she hummed. "B'eakfast?"
Jotaro ruffled her bed head, "I got it."
"Aw you really do care!"
Eileen could see the roll of Jotaro's eyes as he clambered out of bed, "Pfft. Whatever."
"'Whatever' whatever," Eileen stuck her tongue out at his retreating back.
Damn, his ass looked great in those dolphin boxers.
***
Eileen's late night lunching paid off, they made it to the beach by 11:45 with the glorious Sunday sun blazing down on them. The little grains of sand that made its way between Eileen's sandals and feet were scorching, but thankfully not too much of a problem.
It took a couple of trips from the car to their spot to unload everything (given that Jotaro refused to let Eileen carry anything other than their cheap beach ball), but in no time the couple were sprawled on their towels, taking a little break from all the movement.
The umbrella Jotaro had struggled with shaded both of their bodies, but Eileen knew something truly awful was on the horizon. The damn sunscreen.
"I can just stay here, in the shade, no catching rays, no problem? Eh?" Eileen offered, eyes on the dreaded bottle in her boyfriend's hands.
"If that isn't the biggest lie I've ever heard," Jotaro popped open the cap.
"Oh, what about this one?" Eileen challenged. "'Only the tip, I promise?'"
Jotaro turned beet red. "That's completely unfair!"

so we've made the jojos were...creatures...vampires, what else? I think the next logical step is making them mermaids when they get water on them. the merstars
B E T
for extra fun, what if they're like. The mildly eldritch Giant mermaids. Like, the ones that could hold a human in the palm of their hand
just. The Joestar family are essentially literal legends. Jonathan used to be Dio's friend and companion, protecting his ship and crew by swimming alongside them until one day he was betrayed and his skeleton was then hung up like a skeleton and ever since the family has distanced themselves from humans, save for Speedwagon and Erina since they were Jonathan's close friends
now the whole series has been shoved to the water. Maybe George II was a half-human who just kept growing until he had to be moved to he water permanently, but fell in love with his childhood friend Elizabeth who would visit him and even bought a home on the seaside. Maybe one day she was followed and George was slaughtered, and while she was able to get revenge she was forced on the run to escape legal repercussions
now thanks to Erina and Speedwagon she lives on an island far by the coast and almost an hour away from anyone else where she does her best to teach and raise her son in peace. Being only 1/4 mer Joseph could probably pass as a human, albeit a pretty large one, but there are some traits he struggles to hide should any person try to get too close, like having slightly strange eyes and patches of scales and gills
Suzie was a mer who'd pass through at regular times in the year and she and Joseph slowly fell in love with each other. They'd go on long swims into the sunset and stare at all kinds of plant life. Joseph would bring Susie all kinds of Land Foods to share and he learns how to cook specifically so he can share it with her. Susie tells him all about her travels around the world and deep in the ocean and brings back souvenirs. It didn't surprise anyone when they announced their marriage and Joseph purchased a boat so he and Susie could travel together
Holly grew up in the ocean and on a boat. She would swim alongside her mother and father as they travelled, going where she pleases. Susie and Joseph weren't surprised when she fell in love with the musician who would always play his songs by the sea. When Jotaro is born, he has a sort of a split custody of sorts. For the school year he lives with his father on land and attends human classes, and then during the summer break and any other long breaks he travels the ocean with his mom and interacts with other mers

[ Just a Dude and his Stand ]
@standswap-september oh worms in a can Standswap brainrot hit so hard that i made this fanfic.
Standswap AU where things are swapped from the get-go instead of caused by a Stand (or mayhaps, a look into another in preparation for the other).
Note 1 : that this takes place roughly before the events of the Yellow Temperance & Rubber Soul/Michelle and 「 I’m Looking Through You 」 encounter.
Note 2 : a small warning but y’know how Jotaro threw himself into jail for beating the shit out of people? Yeah that’s here but not in graphic detail.
///🌊🌟🌊///
1988, Singapore, a Hotel at Night
After Thomas got his ass beat and thrown into jail for the apparent murder of a man in a bathroom (he was told that he was a Stand user but murder is still murder) the night fell still and quiet aside from the occasional street noise.
Midoro slept peacefully on the other bed provided while his grandpa and Mr. Mahir were in another room to themselves which makes sense since they’re both the smartest people in this little revenge tour group.
But alas sleep could not come easy to Josei as he continuously shifted and turned in bed and the blanket came on and off him but nothing seemed to put him at sleeping comfort. His eyes even started to sting a little whenever he kept them open for like what? More than 10 seconds?
The normally sky lit sky didn’t show much as light pollution and the dreaded sky halo blocked any good view much to his chagrin so star seeing wasn’t a go to sleep option at the moment.
So there Josei laid in bed with a tight but strained grip on his pillow with his thoughts, at first they were mainly annoyances at the lack of a good sky and the stupid light pollution then to that Joestar legacy and his mom getting sick because of some blonde asshole which made his blood boil and his spine tingle with rage.
Because what’d his mom do to get something that could potentially kill her? How’d Grandpa be able to stay fit and yet his mother had to be bedridden because of hers?
Sighing to himself he sluggishly turned in bed once again, now wasn’t exactly the best time to wish ills upon his grandpa as there would be little direction if his gramps wasn’t around (besides, it’s Grandpa why would he wish the worst of serious ills on him?).
However his mind drifted to another, he had his own Stand.
One that made him put himself in jail because of it.
One that broke through steel like paper.
He brings his hands up to face to see the bruises and scars he’d endured from the trip to Singapore and honestly it felt really weird to have a moment of calm like this, Josei remembered why his knuckles were so battered.
The force [ Wayward Son ] brings upon his enemies was nothing short of terrifying if it had been able to tear through bars and keep a shark up in the air with it’s fists alone and by god the barrages it was able to pull off with speed and strength that broke bones, that scared him if he were being honest.
Four men from what he assumed to be some street gang lay on the ground, genitals ripped off and teeth scattered across the ground and streaks and of crimson all over the pavement.
Yet his fists weren’t the ones bloody, he looked on in horror as the screamed and soon after he put himself in a jail cell in fear of it’s abilities.
There were times that the Stand had acted on it’s own, the fist that flew to his grandfather’s gut the few moments where the two had locked eyes and he could identify that there was something else behind those gold ringed eyes and even the periods where it wouldn’t even respond to him.
If Stands are the manifestation of one’s soul, then what was 「Wayward Son」 ?
The soft sounds of the crashing waves enter earshot for brief seconds and his heart sinks, it was as if the Stand had heard his thoughts. Of course it (or was it a he?) heard him, it’s technically him so it would make sense if he heard them too.
He could feel the hardened stare of the Stand from behind. At first he simply wanted to ignore 「Wayward Son」, he really wanted to drift into the comforting darkness of sleep but the gaze presses on and he wasn’t sure if he found that frightening or not.
Josei finally relents and looks back to see 「Wayward Son」, its gold brows seemed to have softened a bit but that black sclerad eyes still held that glare and its weird brim wasn’t in a way that made that glare seem ever darker.
The boy takes a deep breath in as he runs twirls a lock of hair with a finger.
“So maybe i was struggling to sleep and maybe i ended up thinking a bit too much.” Josei groaned as quietly as he possibly do.
Though the thick gold brows stayed in that resting angry face the eyes themselves seem to soften a bit, fists weren’t as clenched as they were on the usual.
“This whole thing y’know is just new to me y’know.” Josei settles himself in a cross seated position, a finger then points towards the Stand. “You especially since i put myself in the slammer cause of you.”
Eyes momentarily go towards the finger that went at its chest, it’s eyes now narrow and gave him a look back which meant he somehow offended it. He wondered if Mr. Mahir would’ve at least told him about this but he assumed that the constant battles prevented him from exactly getting an answer.
“How are you me?” Josei questions almost accusingly.
He wondered if it was weird to ask his soul given form a question like that, because obviously it was according to Mahir and yet it felt so oddly different from him, from the cold gaze to it’s dark silhouette if it weren’t highlighted with the blue and gold (it actually kind of looked like batman).
「Wayward Son」 plopped a hand to his shoulder, grip tight and while it’s dark eyes still narrow they radiated a different sort of anger.
Okay yeah maybe he shouldn’t exactly overthink it but how was 「Wayward Son」 him in a sense? But how could he not? When you’re told that you have a ghost and that ghost was basically you how else should one take that information?
How much of himself did he really know now that 「Wayward Son」 exists and almost looks like the exact antithesis of him?
Another ghostly (but weighted) hand goes to his other shoulder, prompting Josei to look eye to eye with his Stand.
First it points a thumb it’s own chest, then jabs a finger into Josei’s.
Josei took it as a way of it saying ‘You are Me, I am You we are the same being’ which might possibly be exactly what it meant, some things still felt like they added up despite Mahir, Midoro’s, or his stupid grandfather’s words.
「Wayward Son」then proceeded to violently pushed him back into a lay, shoved the pillow in between his arm and threw the covers back over his body before its form dispersed into a beautiful purple coloured sea of stars that he wanted in the sky when he first attempted to sleep.
The young Joestar let out a yawn, 「Wayward Son」 probably had the right idea. His nerves seemed to calm down when the Stand showed those stars, his lids began to get heavy and his head fell back onto the pillow as he finally drifted off to sleep.
///🌟🌟🌟///
The Morning routine was mostly quiet between him and Midoro, as the two got dressed the teen with yellow spectacles then piped up.
“So what were you talking to Wayward about?” Midoro asked.
Josei froze at the question, “Your concern is?” he raises a brow.
“I heard you summon him last night.” Midoro stated. “You seemed to be conversing with him on something yes?”
He guessed that it counted as a conversation, not exactly a long one but one nonetheless. Josei hummed in confirmation as he slipped the purple sleeveless varsity over his shoulders.
“Couldn’t get to bed as quickly as i’d thought.” he affirmed.
“Hard time sleeping? Yeah i get where your coming from, guess the two boat journeys and the plane crash tired me out caused me to get to sleep faster.” Midoro joked, putting on his silver cap.
How a plane crash and two boat sinkings didn’t tire him out was a mystery, perhaps the adrenaline kept his nerves at a constant tenseness?
“Anyways are you up for ice cream, really need a calmer if i wanna get through this intact.” Midoro offers. “Mr. Joestar gave us a couple dollars so we can at least buy something cheap.”
Ice cream did sound nice and after these hectic few days and what he assumed is going to be the days after now, he also most certainly needed it. Though there was almost the beckoning force of another that practically and silently screamed that yes, ice cream sounds like the best thing today could offer.
“Chocolate ice cream will do.” Josei sighed with a smile.
He found it strange that this was the one way that told him that he and it weren’t too different as he had originally thought.

Kiss Me Stupid
Jotaro x Kakyoin | No Stands AU | American Highschool AU
CW: Internalized and Period-Appropriate Homophobia (mild)
Kakyoin and Jotaro's first proper encounter doesn't go quite as planned.
Also, a little bit of context:  Holly managed to get Sadao to move to America instead of her going to Japan. Jotaro still got named by his dad as a compromise and Kakyoin is a new transfer student. Hence the situation
“How much money have we made so far?”
Kakyoin put a hand up to gesture for quiet as he finished painstakingly counting out the last of the pile of change before him. “Nearly thirty dollars,” he said, sounding somewhat surprised. “Honestly more than I expected.”
Maria laughed and gave him a playful shove, “Kakyoin Noriaki, are you calling me ugly?”
“Of course not,” Kakyoin said quickly and smoothly, “Both your appearance and your personality are lovely, and clearly I’m not the only one who thinks so.” He shook the lockbox of cash to illustrate his point and laughed, “I just don’t think I quite realized how desperate American teens were. Whatever happened to romance?”
“Oh come on,” Maria giggled and rolled her eyes at Kakyoin’s cheesy compliments. “You’ve lived here for how long now? It’s just how things are.” She sighed and checked her reflection in her compact mirror, smoothing out a nonexistent flaw in her hair. “Might as well take advantage of it for a good cause, right?”
The two were currently taking a quick lunch break from the attraction they were managing at their school’s fundraising fair. More precisely, Maria had been talked into running the kissing booth this year and she’d dragged Kakyoin along to keep her company and act as a cashier.
Kakyoin wasn’t sure when he’d earned a reputation as the one guy the girls could trust. But he supposed it was an accurate enough description and he couldn’t say he minded much. There weren’t very many guys at the school that he was too interested in hanging out with anyway. The girls tended to be much kinder. And besides, the guys he was interested in were also the guys who’d never spare him a second thought. Better to be somewhat patronized by the girls than getting beat up by a boy who decided he’d been staring for too long. Kakyoin sighed inwardly, he sure knew how to pick ‘em.
---
“Hey, are you even listening?”
Jotaro blinked in surprise, pulled abruptly back to the present from his daydreaming by the grating voice of one of his friends. Truth be told, friend was a rather generous term to describe his current entourage. But at least they were less annoying than the air-headed girls that tended to flock to him. Chirping like birds and driving him out of his mind. If nothing else, these guys didn’t flirt and weren’t liable to start crying if he was too much of a jerk. Sometimes he swears they were just as desperate for his approval though. But when that happened, all he had to do was call them out and they’d back off for fear of seeming “gay”. Jotaro bit back a gag, assholes.
“Yo, where’s your head at, man?” one of them asked, sidling up way too close for comfort.
“Must have left it at home,” Jotaro deadpanned, leaning away from him. “And I’m starting to think joining it would be more fun than hanging out with you jackasses.”
The guys laughed and hollered at his comment, squabbling amongst themselves and Jotaro took the chance to withdraw from the conversation once more. Truth be told he wouldn’t even be here today if it wasn’t for his mom. She’d insisted he get out of the house and have some fun. Mistaking his peacocking fanclub for actual friends, even if she didn’t really approve of him gaining such a delinquent reputation. He didn’t have the heart to tell her that most of them only hung around him in hopes of getting attention from the girls he rejected.
“Jotaro, what do you think?” he made a halfhearted grunt to show he was listening which the speaker took as a prompt to keep talking. “Ms Parker is pretty hot, isn’t she?”
“Yeah, that’s why you’re flunking math, isn’t it? You keep staring at her ass instead of your paper.”
More obnoxious laughter erupted as the one who’d spoken clapped Jotaro on the back with a wild grin, “Come on dude, you know that’s not an insult to me.”
Jotaro tugged his hat further down over his eyes and hid a scowl. Of course it wasn’t, “Good grief.” He swore he lost more brain cells talking to these guys than the lot of them put together had to spare. His gaze drifted distractedly, as it had been doing all morning, over to the kissing booth. Though his attention was turned not on the girl running it, but rather the pretty redhead next to her.
He was pretty sure his name was Kakyoin. And if it weren’t for the benefits that came with having a scary reputation, he seemed like the kind of guy Jotaro could see himself getting along with. Quiet and kind, but self assured. For a moment he let himself imagine going over, introducing himself, and finally having someone he could just relax with. A friend who didn’t need him for self serving reasons. A friend, and maybe somewhere down the line…
“Hey, what do you keep looking at?” One of the guys asked, throwing an arm around his shoulder and leaning in to follow his gaze.
“Jotaro’s distracted by the kissing booth,” another crowed, sending laughter rippling through the group.
“Hey you should go get a kiss,” someone snickered.
“Nah man, that’s too easy,” came the rebuttal before Jotaro could even think to reply. “Any bitch would kiss him for free. He should try to get a kiss from the dude.”
More laughter.
“Yeah yeah,” cheered the guy who’d spoken first. Maybe? Jotaro was losing track. He didn’t particularly care either, not at the moment. Not when he was too busy reeling from the suggestion that he go and kiss Kakyoin. That seemed… wrong. Right? So why was he so intrigued by the idea? “Just look at the guy, and his dumbass hairdo. Did he dye it pink? What a loser.”
“Not to mention the way he dresses, he’s practically a girl anyway, ain’t he?”
All eyes turned to Jotaro, malicious grins on each of their faces that made Jotaro’s stomach turn. He put on a face and scoffed, “Yeah, right. What’s in it for me if I do, huh? I have better things to do than play along with your stupid dares.”
“Oh come on, did we finally find the one thing Jotaro’s too chicken to do?”
“I’ll pay for your lunch if you can manage it.”
“There’s no way he’ll do it.”
“Seriously? But it’ll be funny.”
Jotaro mentally kicked himself for what he was about to say. Truth be told, he didn’t actually need convincing, just had to protest enough for the guys not to suspect anything. The last thing he needed was for more rumors to start flying over a single kiss. That was definitely not worth it. But he couldn’t deny the fact that he was curious. And Kakyoin was really cute. Not that these idiots needed to know that. “Alright alright, fine,” he said, putting his hands up. “Who’s scared, right? But I’m holding you to that lunch money.”
Cheers sounded off as the one who’d offered the bet jokingly tried to weasel his way out of the deal. “You’ll have to convince him to actually kiss you first, Jotaro,” he whined. “And if you fail, you buy me lunch, fair?”
“You’ve got a deal,” Jotaro said, already distracted as he began to walk towards the booth. His gang trying and failing miserably to watch him with any sort of discretion.
Just as he walked out of earshot, he heard one of them snicker to another. “Get ready to pay up dude, that guy’s always hanging around with chicks yet he’s still single. I’ll bet anything that he won’t even need convincing. What a freak.”
Well that was something he hadn’t been aware of.
---
"Dollar for a kiss right?"
Kakyoin glanced over at the latest customer without really turning away from sorting the latest handful of cash. His hand faltered when he registered what he was looking at. The tall imposing figure of someone he recognized as one of the delinquents.
Jotaro Kujo.
Kakyoin tried to tell himself he only remembered his name because he was the one other Japanese student at the school. Or rather, the one other student with a Japanese name. If he had to guess, Kakyoin would say Jotaro was probably mixed. Not that it mattered, because what reason did he have to care about Jotaro? Tall, dark, brooding, and the object of obsession for most of the girls he hung out with. If Kakyoin was the “boy next door” then Jotaro was the “bad boy” who stood untouchable above the average crowd. Honestly, Kakyoin could see the appeal. Not that he’d ever admit that out loud.
"Absolutely," Maria said with a big grin, startling Kakyoin back to the present and he blushed slightly, realizing that he’d been staring. She reached out eagerly to take his money but he snatched it away before she could. Maria couldn’t help but do a slight double take at the gesture but regained her composure quickly enough. She knew all about him of course, what girl at this school didn’t? Everybody wanted to know more about the mysterious Jotaro Kujo, and she was no exception. But something about the situation felt… off.
"Not you," Jotaro said stiffly, tugging down his hat with his free hand and refusing to make eye contact. "Good grief," he mumbled before speaking up again. "With him." He jabbed an accusatory finger at Kakyoin, still not quite looking at him.
Kakyoin sat up straighter with a panicked expression as Jotaro gestured towards him. He felt his whole face heat up as he stammered out a reply. "Oh I'm just the cashier," he managed, sounding strangled.
Feeling more than a little snubbed, Maria put her hands on her hips and was about to snap back with a snarky reply when movement in the background caught her eye. Curiously, she looked past Jotaro’s shoulder and she couldn’t quite hide the shift in her expression when she caught a group of guys giggling with each other and pointing blatantly at Jotaro. Guys she recognized as members of Jotaro’s little entourage. She frowned a little, feeling a rush of pity for Kakyoin. And Jotaro as well, to some extent. He clearly didn’t feel entirely comfortable participating in this prank, if nothing else.
With a little difficulty, she managed to catch Jotaro’s eye and gave him a knowing nod before turning her attention back on Kakyoin, who had seemingly forgotten how to breathe. While Maria struggled for how to proceed, Kakyoin had turned stiff as a board and was unable to look anywhere but at Jotaro.
As gently as possible without raising his suspicion, Maria forced a laugh and smiled teasingly at Kakyoin. “Well you heard the boy, what do you say?”
Kakyoin tore his eyes away from Jotaro and rubbed awkwardly at the back of his neck. “I don’t know about that, Maria,” he stammered, “This is your job. And I don’t. I mean, what if people…”
Maria bit back a scream and silently pleaded for Kakyoin to just play along. The sooner they got this over with the better, and it seemed like Jotaro had something on the line. Even if she didn’t know what. “Come on Kakyoin, it’s for charity.”
Jotaro grimaced, “You don’t have to,” he said slowly, “Sorry, this was a stupid-”
“Oh come on!” Maria interrupted. Don’t hurt his pride, she thought at Jotaro, hoping he’d pick up. If you let on that he’s being made fun of he’ll be crushed. “Here, I’ll introduce the two of you. Kakyoin, meet Jotaro. Jotaro, meet Kakyoin. There, now it’s not so bad.”
Kakyoin let out a painfully awkward laugh. “Thanks, Maria.” He held out his hand and Jotaro accepted the handshake a little stiffly. “Well, I can’t argue with that. I’m game,” he said, sounding more confident than he felt. “It’ll be funny right? Two guys kissing. Comedy.”
“Hilarious,” Jotaro agreed gruffly.
Nervously, Kakyoin leaned, closed his eyes, and braced himself for rejection up until the last second when he felt Jotaro’s mouth against his. It wasn’t his first kiss but it might have been his weirdest, he thought. It was certainly his most nerve wracking. And though it was over as quickly as it started, Kakyoin felt like he must have been there for an eternity. He braced himself just in time to not fall face first over the booth when Jotaro pulled away and he noticed that he’d been gripping the edge of the table so hard that his knuckles were starting to turn white. He cleared his throat awkwardly, his mouth felt impossibly dry, and his face was so hot that he must be redder than his hair.
Curiously though, and he might have been imagining it, but he could have sworn Jotaro was shaking worse than him. But in an instant it was gone and Jotaro regained his tough as nails confidence. “See you around,” he said with a nod and tapped Kakyoin on the shoulder, nearly knocking him over. And with that he was gone.
“Pinch me, Maria,” Kakyoin breathed as he watched Jotaro leave. “Did that just happen?”
Maria grimaced, “Nope?” She shook her head and added under her breath, “Though I wish it hadn’t.”
Kakyoin let out a shaky breath, his eyes still not leaving Jotaro. “I wonder why he did that,” he said quietly, “What in the world-” he cut off abruptly and Maria winced next to him. Together, the two of them watched Jotaro rejoin a group of cackling delinquents who immediately swarmed him with mocking laughter. Someone clapped him on the back, another groaned dramatically and handed over a handful of cash. Jotaro ignored them all, drawing his hat down further over his face and stalked away. “Oh.”
“Kakyoin,” Maria started softly but Kakyoin had already gotten stiffly to his feet.
“I’m going to the bathroom,” he said, his voice sounding strained.
Maria frowned and made an attempt to grab Kakyoin by the sleeve but her fingers closed on empty air. “Kakyoin, wait!” she called after him, “Hey come back! Those guys are assholes, who cares what they think? We know you’re not-” But he was already out of earshot. She hesitated for a moment, debating whether she should go after him. But people unaware of the situation were already starting to drift towards the booth again.
He can take care of himself, Maria thought decidedly and turned to put on her best smile.
---
Jotaro couldn’t get his mind off the encounter. Of all the uncomfortable interactions, that one had to take the cake. Mostly because he’d pictured his first kiss a million times before and never had he imagined it would go like that. His soured mood seeped out of him so toxic until even his entourage made excuses to leave him alone for the day.
He could have just gone home. Probably should have, really. There was no way Kakyoin would ever want to talk to him again. He probably thought Jotaro incredibly creepy at this point. But he could not quite bring himself to leave. Not that he went back to stealing glances at Kakyoin either. In fact, he quite pointedly avoided that entire side of the fair for the rest of the day. Until at last he felt like he had to go tell the truth.
Kakyoin deserved to know what the deal was with that damned kiss. And things were starting to wrap up for the night anyway so it was now or never. But when he finally dragged himself back to the kissing booth, he was surprised to find Maria cleaning up alone. “Hey,” he said, uncharacteristically softly.
Maria looked up with a tired expression, “Oh, it’s you again. Hi Jotaro.”
Jotaro swallowed nervously, “Is Kakyoin still here?”
“I don’t know,” Maria frowned, “And no thanks to you. He ran off after he realized you were making fun of him and never came back.” She gathered her things up in her arms and sighed, “I was supposed to be his ride home so I can only assume that he never left. But who can be sure?”
“I’m sorry,” Jotaro winced, “The whole thing was stupid. I just wanted to get the others off my back. And he wasn’t supposed to find out like that.” He frowned and shook his head, tugging nervously at his hat, “I guess he saw them talking to me afterwards, right?”
Maria nodded, “Yeah, he did. But it’s not me you should be apologizing to.” She walked around the booth to Jotaro’s side and gestured towards the school. “I feel bad too, you know. I pushed him into accepting the kiss. I noticed your friends before that and encouraged him anyway. I also hoped he would simply just not realize. He headed in the direction of the school. Let’s go look for him.”
“They’re not my friends,” Jotaro said by reflex, “But yeah, you’re right. I should apologize to him directly.” He squared his shoulders and fixed his hat one last time, “Let’s go.”
The two of them headed towards the school and split up once they reached the building. “Check the boys bathroom,” Maria instructed, “That’s where he said he was going. Even if it was a lie it’s a place to start. I’ll check his classrooms.”
Jotaro just nodded in silence and followed her instructions. But he stopped just one step outside the bathroom and paused. What would he even say if he did find Kakyoin? Repeat the things he’d told Maria? That had felt so much easier. He selfishly hoped he wouldn’t find him. But then he entered, and heard a soft sobbing coming from the furthest stall. “Kakyoin?”
The crying stopped instantly. There was a long moment of silence, and then finally a sniffle. "Not you again."
"Maria's looking for you,” Jotaro said awkwardly, “The fair's almost over."
“Okay.” Kakyoin said rather stiffly. “Go let her know I’m fine then, I’ll be out in a second.”
Jotaro almost did as he was told. Almost. But he never was good at following instructions. “How are you feeling?”
“Peachy.”
“For what it’s worth, I didn’t mean to upset you,” Jotaro said as he took a step closer to the source of Kakyoin’s voice.
Kakyoin sighed loudly and kicked the door of the stall but didn’t open the door. “What did you mean then? In fact, why are you even here right now? What do you want from me?”
“I’m here to apologize,” Jotaro frowned. That much should have been obvious. But that’s probably not really what he meant. “I mean, Maria was worried about you. And I felt bad.”
“Whatever,” Kakyoin snapped, “I told you already, I’m fine. So just leave me alone.”
Jotaro reached the stall and paused a moment before squatting down on the floor with his back to the neighboring door. It felt a little too bold even for him to lean against the door that Kakyoin had closed. “Anything I can do to make it up to you?”
Another heavy sigh. “What is this about for you? Cause if it’s just to soothe your own guilty conscience then you can leave now and not waste your breath. Don’t you think you’ve done enough already?” Then, just to throw salt on the wound he added, “I hope the money was worth it.”
“You even saw that?” Jotaro winced.
“Of course. Your friends weren’t exactly subtle.”
“They’re not my friends,” Jotaro insisted before he could even think to stop himself. Really not the time. “And no, it wasn’t worth it. But well, I told Maria this already, I only did it so they’d leave me alone.” He tilted his head back until it thudded against the stall door. “I guess that doesn’t help much. Sorry, it was stupid.”
Kakyoin kicked his door again, but it seemed less pointed than last time. More like he’d flinched and hit the door involuntarily. “Yeah, so stupid,” he agreed, sounding annoyed. “Why did I even think for a second that I was meant to be anything more than a punchline? You tough guys are all the same.”
“That’s not what I meant,” Jotaro said quickly. “You weren’t stupid. The kiss wasn’t even stupid. I was for agreeing to it. And for letting them catch me staring in the first place.”
“Staring at what?”
“The kissing booth.”
“Right.” Kakyoin bit the inside of his cheek and wondered if he’d sounded too eager when he asked. He cursed the flutter in his chest he’d felt for a brief moment. Berated himself that even after what had happened he couldn’t quite bring himself to hate Jotaro. “Sorry that they took your chance to kiss Maria then. I’m sure she would have loved it.” He fought back a new wave of tears. Why was he the one apologizing? He hadn’t done anything wrong.
Jotaro drummed his fingers on the ground and considered it for a moment before inadvertently validating Kakyoin’s optimism. “I was actually staring at you.”
Kakyoin scoffed, “Don’t make fun of me. I know what people say.”
“I’m not,” Jotaro insisted, “And don’t you call me a liar.” His heart was pounding. Why did he care so much that Kakyoin believed him? Why did he want his forgiveness so bad? “Good grief.”
Almost involuntarily, he carried on rambling. “I was looking at you but I couldn’t get away to talk to you. And even if I had, what would I say? So I just kept on looking and then they came up with that stupid dare and I guess in the moment I just didn’t see how I could back out.” His hand twitched and he wished he had a cigarette on him. “I have a reputation to maintain, you know.”
Dammit, he never let his guts spill like this. What was Kakyoin’s deal, even? Being so damn pitiful that Jotaro couldn’t help but try anything to patch up the situation. “You ever get yourself so deep into something that you feel like you can’t get out? Except that thing is your life. That’s what it is with the guys who hang around me. Nothing more.”
“So…” Kakyoin spoke his next words slowly. So painfully slowly and carefully, like pulling teeth. “Were you staring because you wanted to talk to me? Or because… I mean. Like, the kiss itself… Wasn’t… Bad? For me-”
“Yes,” Jotaro interrupted, “Yes I wanted to talk to you and also I don’t know. I think… You seem nice. And you’re pretty? I don’t know.” He clenched his fist anxiously, “I’ve never done this before. That was my first kiss.”
“Shit,” Kakyoin said dumbly.
“Yeah.”
There was a long pause before either of them spoke up again. “If you could have done it over,” Kakyoin asked at last, “How would you have liked to meet me?”
“If I was less of an idiot?” Jotaro asked. “I would have told those guys to piss off and then walked up to you. I could have introduced myself like a normal human being and asked if you wanted to do something together sometime. After the fair or maybe over a weekend. I should have done more to earn the kiss.”
Kakyoin opened the stall and looked down at Jotaro. “Do it then.”
Jotaro got to his feet, a little startled to no longer be talking through closed doors. Almost on instinct he wanted to shut down and push away. This was honestly more than he’d bargained for and he didn’t exactly make a habit of opening up to people. But Kakyoin was giving him a chance to make things right and he’d be a fool to squander it.
Meanwhile, Kakyoin was almost starting to regret his own boldness. He’d forgotten how Jotaro towered over him. Not even necessarily through height alone. But something about his very presence just seemed to take up space. Cutting quite the imposing figure, even in the largely unflattering setting of a highschool boy’s bathroom.
“Hey,” Jotaro said gruffly, his hands shoved deep into his pockets and a piercing stare directed at Kakyoin. The kind that seemed to pierce his very soul. “Kakyoin, right? I’m Jotaro, nice to meet you. I think we have some classes together.”
Kakyoin tried his best not to gawk at how ridiculous the situation was. And at how intimidating Jotaro was, even whilst acting more or less friendly. This was his own idea after all. “Yeah, that’s me. Nice to meet you too.”
“Didn’t mean to bother you,” Jotaro said casually. As if they were actually meeting for the first time. “But I gotta ask. How do you put up with all those girls around you all the time? Doesn’t it annoy you to have them fawning over you?”
Now that caught Kakyoin off guard and he let out an awkward laugh. “Oh, no. They don’t flirt with me. They just happen to be nicer to me than the guys are.”
Jotaro raised an eyebrow, “Handsome dude like you? I find it hard to believe you have no one chasing after you. Better you than me anyway, I really don’t get why they bother.”
Kakyoin could feel himself blushing and squared himself up to match Jotaro’s energy in an attempt to regain some footing. “Weird way to brag about how popular you are,” he joked.
“More like a roundabout way to say I’m not interested in their attention.” He stared pointedly at Kakyoin. “If you catch my drift.”
“Oh,” Kakyoin could feel himself shaking again but once again, Jotaro looked almost just as nervous as he was. “Yeah, I guess I do. And I’m inclined to agree. It would be nice to have a little more… attention? From guys. I guess.”
“Guys like me?” Jotaro said tentatively.
“Perhaps,” Kakyoin shrugged. He brushed his bangs out of his face and took a shaky breath. “Do you want to test that?”
Jotaro took a step closer and leaned down until they were face to face. Mere inches apart. “May I? No one’s watching this time. I promise.”
Kakyoin closed his eyes and nodded.
---
“Hi Maria.”
“Oh there you are!” Maria exclaimed with a sigh of relief as she rushed over to Kakyoin and threw her arms around him in a hug. “Are you okay? I was starting to get so worried. What happened in there?”
Kakyoin chuckled and returned the hug, “Yes, I’m fine now. Thank you for worrying about me. And, not much happened really.” He glanced towards Jotaro, less subtly than he probably thought and shrugged. “Jotaro apologized and explained the situation. I decided to forgive him. We’re all still young and careless, aren’t we? It didn’t seem worth it to hold a grudge.”
Maria looked between the two of them. “So what? Are you two friends now?”
“You could say that.” Jotaro shrugged.
“Right,” Maria said slowly. Before throwing her hands up, “Well. I’m just glad it all worked out. I’m going to go wait by the car. Do what you gotta do and then let’s finally head home, okay? It’s pretty late.” She pulled out her car keys and pointed at Jotaro, “Do you need a ride?”
He shook his head, “I’ll be fine. Thanks.”
They waited until Maria had left well out of earshot before turning to each other. One last goodbye for the night. “So what do you want to do now?” Kakyoin asked, “About us, I mean. What happens next?”
“A date might be nice?” Jotaro suggested tentatively. “But, you know, you don’t have to call it that if you don’t want to. And I get it if you want to keep things on the down low. But if you’re ever feeling brave. “ He flashed a slight smirk, “I’m pretty sure most people would think twice before messing with me. And if they don’t then I’ll make sure they do next time.”
Kakyoin chuckled and patted Jotaro on the arm. “I’ll think about it. But a date does sound nice. Come find me after school tomorrow and we’ll settle on something.”
