JOHN: oh man, i found you just in time! i need you to come back with me, and–

JOHN: wait, how are you already free?

VRISKA: Leaves.

JOHN: weren't you supposed to be in the "clutches" of jane, or something?

VRISKA: John... do you really think I would need YOU to 8ust me out of some rinky dink operation like that?

VRISKA: Escaping some cushy human prison is gru8's play to me. They didn't even try to torture us!

VRISKA: Even my protégé managed to free herself of this sad excuse for a facility.

JOHN: oh.

JOHN: wait, rose's kid was here with you?

VRISKA: That's what I said! Try and keep up, cryptkeeper.

JOHN: ok, well, if you would stop shaking your head and look at me you'd know i am rolling my eyes so hard right now.

JOHN: anyway!!

JOHN: where do i begin! uhh... ok, so roxy has this secret lair that's for some reason hidden underneath our old bed, the world is gonna fall apart... umm what else... oh! there's this thingy called "the Plot Point"--

VRISKA: Yeah, I know.

JOHN: you know?

JOHN: oh.

JOHN: please don't tell me you guys were trying to escape through a tunnel crossing a water pipe and she sacrificed herself by sealing the pipe closed from the outside, giving you the chance to escape?

VRISKA: What the hell are you talking a8out????????

VRISKA: No, you know what, don't answer that.

JOHN: its from a show!

VRISKA: John, she's a Vriska. She can handle herself! I'm sure she can take anything this fake-ass timeline can throw at her!

JOHN: what?

JOHN: i mean

JOHN: i don't really get it either, but i had this long talk with roxy, and that feels relevant to this?

VRISKA: Yuck, don't even want to think a8out that whole mess.

VRISKA: What were you two even thinking with that, 8y the way? What was setting sail on that dingy schooner of a relationship ever going to accomplish?

JOHN: don't call my marriage a dingy schooner! it was a completely reasonably sized ship!

JOHN: we had our reasons!

JOHN: i am pretty sure!

VRISKA: Yeah, you sound super sure a8out all of this.

VRISKA: Making up pro8lems to have pro8lems!

VRISKA: So lame.

JOHN: it does sound... kind of bad.

JOHN: but that doesn't mean it's fake!

VRISKA: Come oooooooon!

VRISKA: Do you honestly think I spent all that time commanding a kickass ghost army to not know a haplessly doomed little world when I see one?

VRISKA: I can practically smell it on you!

JOHN: hey, not this again!

JOHN: i smell completely normal!

JOHN: my odor is well within "real john" standards thank you very much.

VRISKA: This is exactly what I'm talking a8out. No8ody real would say that.

VRISKA: You're like a sadder, less interesting version of a guy I kind of liked talking to. When was the last time you did........ anything?

JOHN: i get around. i've been talking to people. i just talked to a new guy on the way.

VRISKA: Snore!

JOHN: that guy is right here, he's still me!

And then while tav slowly drifts off to sleep while astarion is still reading they start like playing with his hand and massaging it and like kissing his palm gently before cuddling closer to him and falling asleep?

You never really noticed Astarion’s hands before. Well, you noticed them, I mean, they’re nice hands, but you never admired them before.

They were long and nimble, calloused from his weapons despite his efforts to keep them smooth. His nails were always perfectly trimmed and rounded. Sometimes he’d have polish on, but more often than not they were left plain. Prominent veins danced all the way up his arm. They were beautiful. How could you not stop to admire them? Even now, when the moon was high in the sky and you should be fast asleep, you had to push off rest just a little longer to take in their beauty.

Astarion pays you little attention as he flips through his book. It’s propped up easily in one hand, pinky and thumb keeping the pages open while the rest keep the book upright. His thumb tucks under the edge smoothly, as though he’d done this a million times before when in reality this was a rather new skill, and glides the page across to the other side, where his pinky captures it. The movements are so clean, you almost get lost in them.

But your eyes are getting heavy, and you aren’t quite prepared to be lulled to sleep just yet.

You take his hand up in both of yours and feel along each finger with one hand while the other massages a thumb into his palm. The motions are imprecise and inconsistent, but he relaxes into them anyway. He turns his head to watch you.

Next you pull his hand up to your lips. You kiss each finger, starting at the pads and down to each knuckle in turn. It almost tingles. He’s amazed how… reverent your kisses seem to be. Like each one holds a prayer, and by kissing him you are burying it under his skin for safe keeping. Once you’ve kissed all his fingers, you open up his palm and plant a kiss there, too.

You briefly press it to your cheek before you allow it to fall comfortably back between you. You wrap your arms around his in a hug, and trail your hand down until you can lace your fingers with his once more. You bury your face into his shirt, take a deep breath, and almost instantly fall asleep.

He should go right back to reading. He certainly could now that he wasn’t distracted by your odd affections. But he lays his book open-side down beside him, and rolls over to curl around you. You mindlessly rewrap yourself around his torso while he tucks a hand around your back and cradles your neck with the other, effortlessly guiding your head to rest against his neck.

He presses a kiss to your head, a silent prayer of his own, thanking you for being so gentle with him, and closes his eyes. While he does not need sleep, he happily indulges in your warmth until morning.

The holiday break was for students and staff to take a break from studies and spend time with their loved ones. Although, many students didn’t spend the break exactly like that. Some hosted huge parties in their parents’ house while they were on holiday. Others— like yourself— spent the whole two weeks panicking and studying for the upcoming exam season. And, for those like yourself who bit more than they could chew, they had rarely any time to relax.

Which is exactly why you had holed yourself up in your university’s library for a few days. You were strict with yourself while studying, too. Coffee and your textbooks were the only thing you could rely on, it seemed. Though, it was only inevitable that you would come down from your coffee-fueled ambitious high. You just wish you hadn’t crashed so hard while you were reviewing your textbooks for the nth teen time that day.

But, luckily, Dottore had just turned the corner in search of a book to satiate his own curiosity when he saw you, slumped over your textbooks.

Admittedly, he did chuckle at your pathetic state. Half of your face was squished down, adorably so, while you slept on the pages. He did cringe as he saw a small amount of drool leave your parted mouth. And the academic in him stiffened when Dottore noticed how you were wrinkling the paper in this position. So, really, he had no choice but to put you in a more comfortable position. For both you and the book.

Just like he had no choice but to make you lay down, head in his lap. And he certainly had no choice but to put his coat over you once he saw you shiver. Though, Dottore can’t really explain the soft smile that spread across his features when he caught a glimpse at the peaceful look on your face. They’re too cute to resist smiling, he reassured himself, anyone who doesn’t smile at that is ridiculous. Obviously.

Dottore looked over at your notes and sighed wistfully. He examined your handwriting, and smiled at the small details in it that made it uniquely yours. Some of the notes you wrote on the margins of your work earned a chuckle out of Dottore, too. 

“Oh, if only you didn’t have such a bad impression of me,” Dottore murmured, slightly wincing as he recalled your first meeting.

Rumors of his questionable ethics and dubious morals had spread around the university, and you joined everyone else in their superstitions. However, the only thing that separated you from the rest of the sheep was your brilliant mind.

“We could have been friends,” he mumbled. Dottore sucked in a harsh brush as he took in your face fully. “Or maybe something more…?”

Dottore looked at the time on his watch and concluded that maybe— just maybe— he’d need a nap too. 

Even if it is next to his so-called “enemy”.

Campfire Cheer Ups

Pairing: Rafe Cameron x Reader

Summary: Cassie turns towards the fire to help cheer up her heart broken daughter.

A/N: This idea is brought to you by @gillybear17. This takes place probably between part 6 and part 7.

Breaks up are hard, but Cassie Y/L/N doesn’t handle break up’s cheer ups like a normal parent would. Cassie may be better at remembering things than her husband, but Marvin is the more level-headed one in the relationship, after all, he is a lawyer. Cassie, on the other hand, is a writer, which means she is a lot more creative when someone hurts her babies. When her first boyfriend broke up with her for being a book nerd, Cassie and Y/N covered and filled Lewis Andrews’ car with book pages. This time, Cassie had the perfect idea to cheer up her daughter. 

The both of them are now huddled close to the campfire with a can of Vizzy in both of their hands. Probably not the best parenting to let her underage daughter drink around a fire, but Cassie wasn’t a narc. “You know what would make you feel even better? If we burnt this,” she proposes to her daughter, holding up the thick manuscript Wilson gave her. Y/N laughs her head off at her mom’s preposterous offer and takes the book. She leafs through some pages, “God, I can’t believe he thought you could get this publish. I mean listen to this: The green-eyed dame peers into my intelligent blue eyes. ‘Do not go to war, Will. Stay with me,’ she pleads. ‘Okay, I will not. I will work as an accountant instead.’ I just know he wrote Will after himself.” Cassie laughs and takes the book from her daughter’s hands. “Have you read this part yet? ‘I checked each number to see if they are correct. 34. 2. 5. 6. 7. 8.’ And then the numbers just go on for the next three pages. I mean come on. If you are going to make a book about an accountant at least talk about something more interesting than double-checking numbers.”

The duo burst out laughing again at the passage. They go back and forth between reading ridiculous passages. “Okay, I’m ready to burn this thing. This one is for the way he didn’t hold the door for me whenever we went out. Like if I’m walking first, then fine but like if you insist on walking in front of me, it’s just rude to let the door fall in the face of the other person,” Y/N vents, tearing out a few pages and throwing it into the fire. She repeats the process a few more times. “This is for the way he never let me talk.”

“This is for being a condescending douch bag.”

“And finally, this is for trying to make other people feel small with your intelligence because he probably has a tiny penis.”

With that, Y/N throws the last of the pages into the fire and dusts off her hands. Cassie wraps her arm around her daughter’s shoulder, “Feel better?” Y/N leans into her mom’s arm. “So much. Thank you.”

AO3 Year in Review

Saw a bunch of people doing this so thought I would too. Here we go (info based the ao3 stats page):

Words written: 491, 892

New fics: 43

Kudos: 10,904

Comments: 1,012

Hits: 104, 730

Big changes: I archive locked my fics.

I switched to mainly writing One Piece fics.

Across the board all my numbers are down and there are three reasons. One going full time to work and pinching a nerve, this fall I had a month where I didn't post anything at all. Two, anime fandom - anime and video game fandoms are bad for commenting. Three, I archive locked. That is the biggest. For context in 2022 my kudos were 29,626 and my hits were 306,079. By a combination of all these things I lost about 2/3rds of my numbers.

So do I regret any of it that lead to the changes? NOPE. I mean, okay regret the pinched nerve. But anime fandom has smaller response than witcher yeah, but also getting less hate than I did there. I'm writing more variety of ships which I really enjoy doing. Archive locking has also cut down the bit of hate I did get because 9/10 it was on guest (shout out to the person who had 1 eight year old fic posted telling me how juvenile my writing was and as a writer they would want to know why people didn't finish their work - god bless you ao3 block button).

Right now no intentions of un-archive locking my fics. Because there is no reason to not have an ao3 account. Gives me an extra layer of protection that I like.

Plans for the upcoming year. Write. Remind myself it is okay if it isn't a lot writing in even 15 minute bursts makes me happy so do that. Continue writing One Piece, some ATLA, maybe finish that Dragon Age fic. Who knows? No exchanges or bangs. They take a lot of time and energy I don't have to spare.

Katey Might Be Pregnant. Again.

Katey (Nakatsu) Duggar has a public Pinterest profile. It’s definitely hers; her half–sister and Hannah (Wissmann) Duggar follow it. One of her "boards" is also entitled "Esther's shower!," and we know that Katey planned / hosted Esther (Keyes) Bates's baby shower back in September.

Direct your attention to the latest "board" on Katey's account, which is entitled "Christmas photo." Per Pinterest, Katey's latest pin to the "Christmas photo" board was 1 Month Ago. When you click into the board, you see that the most recent pin is... An idea for a Christmas–themed pregnancy announcement.

Now, Duggar Data isn't a Pinterest whiz, by any means. I'm not sure if "1 Month Ago" actually means 30 Days Ago, or possibly if Pinterest treats everything that happens in October as "1 Month Ago" as soon as November rolled around. Regardless, snarkers—Reddit, I believe, was first to find it—discovered the "Christmas photo" Pinterest page yesterday (November 2, 2022). So it's safe to say that Katey pinned the holiday–themed pregnancy announcement in October 2022.

I'm sure you're all eager for the data, so let's get on with it.

When is Duggar–Nakatsu #2 Forecast to Arrive?

As of November 3, 2022, Katey was expected to announce her 2nd Pregnancy on December 27, 2023, and give birth August 22, 2024. That's based on Jed + Katey's Marriage–to–Firstborn Spacing (394 Days), the Duggar 2nd Child Multiplier (1.7949), and a Maternal Age Multiplier for Age 25–29.99 (1.1928). All that works out to an Age–Adjusted Procreative Pace (AAPP) of 843 Days (27.7 Months). The Projected DOB (August 22, 2024) is 843 Days after Truett's DOB of May 2, 2022—so, there you go. Their ESOQ is 8 Children.

(Note—Savvy followers might be objecting at this point, like: "Katey isn't 25! She doesn't turn 25 until July 2023!" That is true; however the Maternal Age Factor kicks in because she will be Age 25–29.99 for her next birth.)

TL;DR—If Katey is pregnant, Jed + Katey are early for Baby 2. How early, you ask. Well, that depends...

If They Found Out In October...

Apparently, she was pinning announcement ideas—so, it seems like maybe she's pregnant. We have no way of knowing when she found out, but let's just assume it was close in time to the pins and go with mid–October (October 16, 2022). In the Pregnancy Announcement for Truett, Katey was shown using an "early detection" test, which is capable of detecting a pregnancy on Day 23 of a 28–Day Cycle. We can estimate that, if Katey used that test and found out on October 16, 2022, her Approximate Due Date (ADD) is June 30, 2023. The Duggar–Nakatsus announced at a mere 41 Days Along last time, so they'd be expected to announce on November 3, 2022. (Hey, that's today! Nifty.)

If Katey is due on June 30th, 2023, her child can't be GrandDuggar #29, since her Due Date is after Joy's and Joy is having #30.

If Katey is due on June 30th, she's 419 Days and 2.34 SDs Early for Baby #2. Her and Jed's Baseline Procreative Pace (PP)—without a Maternal Age Adjustment—would be 424 Days (~14 Months), which is faster than Kelly Jo Bates (456 Days), Kendra Duggar (483 Days), Michelle Duggar (491 Days), and Tori Smith (454 Days). The couples who are faster are Grace + Kord (366 Days) and Nurie + Nathan (414 Days). Factoring Maternal Age in, Jed + Katey's ESOQ would be 13 Children (+5 vs. Current ESOQ).

If They Announce On Christmas...

Okay. Maybe Katey isn't pregnant, yet. She's just planning ahead... Last time, Jed + Katey announced at 41 Days Along. Assuming they announce on Christmas of 2022, again at 41 Days Along, that yields an Approximate Due Date (ADD) of August 21, 2023.

Again, Duggar–Nakatsu #2 can't be GrandDuggar #29, since Joy is due in May and hers is #30.

If Katey is due August 21, 2023, she's 367 Days and 2.05 SDs Early for Baby #2. Her and Jed's Baseline Procreative Pace (PP), prior to Maternal Age Adjustment, would be 476 Days. That's a little slower than Grace Etbauer, Nurie Keller, Tori Smith, and Kelly Jo Bates, but still faster than Kendra or Michelle Duggar. Factoring Maternal Age in, their ESOQ would be 12 Children (+4 vs. Current ESOQ).

Conclusion

If Katey is pregnant again already, Kendra better watch out.
