I was asked to post a series on how to deal with flashbacks and painful memories. These videos are short and each of them can be used on their own. Together, though, they tell a story that helps many of my clients move out of feeling frozen and overwhelmed and into a place where they feel calm and empowered.🧡 Flashbacks often happen to us when we're feeling very stressed. If you grew up in a traumatic or stressful household you may have difficulty recognizing stress when it happens to you, until it gets so overwhelming that you feel like you're about to break down. Flashbacks are a signal that there's a lot going on underneath the surface and that you need to reduce your stress and add more joy. You can manage in the moment by using grounding techniques that I teach you in some of these videos and your breath to anchor you back into now. Try to identify a few people in your life who can invite you into their calm when you're feeling overwhelmed by chaos. The last two steps are to train yourself to ground using your breath and to master your imagination through creative outlets. This really works. I'm here for you if you want to learn more.
