So I thought I’d throw together a bit of a timeline theory I’ve been thinking about since the last episode surrounding Fizzerolli, how he started working for Mammon, when and how he may have gotten together with Ozzie, who exactly kept him and Blitzo apart after the accident, and also an idea for some rather appropriate karmic irony.
Tumblr media
See, we hear in Mammon’s Midseason Special that Fizz has won Mammon’s Clown Pageant the last ten years in a row. But nothing about that indicates that ten years ago was the first time Fizz won.
Tumblr media
Instead, I think the actual first time Fizz won Mammon’s Clown Pageant was fifteen years ago. As in, shortly before the accident. For one this really adds some additional weight to the flashbacks we get in Oops. The big celebration we see wasn’t just for Fizz’s birthday, it was celebrating Fizz getting his big break. Winning this competition and getting the chance to work with Mammon, the Sin of Greed himself.
Tumblr media
As well as adding even greater weight to Blitzo trying to give Fizz a love letter. Blitzo likely thought this would be the last chance he would get.
Tumblr media
Additionally, this would also neatly explain Mammon’s involvement in Fizz’s recovery after the accident. It’s clear that Mammon bankrolled Fizzerolli’s recovery and cyberization, so that begs the question of what would prompt Mammon to invest so much time and effort into helping seemingly some random imp circus kid? Well, what if said kid not only just won his Clown Pageant, but did SO good that Mammon decided pretty much immediately that he wanted THIS kid as his new brand mascot? And then just a few weeks or even days later, that kid was horrifically maimed in a terrible accident at his home? Yeah, I think that gives Mammon ALL the reason to stick his neck out for Fizz. And if you’re going to ask ‘Why didn’t Mammon just drop Fizz after he was basically crippled?’ Because Mammon is the embodiment of GREED. He WANTED Fizzerolli and he was going to HAVE him.
Tumblr media
Plus, I think we can assume that this is where Asmodeus entered the picture, with Mammon calling him in to do Fizzerolli’s cybernetics. In turn, I think it’s easy to guess that Ozzie being so closely involved in Fizz’s recovery is when the two started falling in love.
In short, Fizzerolli spends the next few years recovering before making his big debut as Mammon’s new hot brand mascot, winning his next Clown Pageant, and goes on to win every pageant for the next ten years up to present.
Tumblr media
Now the other angle here is the big ‘Who conspired to keep Blitzo and Fizz apart after the accident?’ And I’m going to be honest; it is DEFINITELY Cash Buckzo. Like I know some people have theorized that it was Mammon, but frankly that theory just doesn’t make sense anymore. Mammon simply doesn’t have much motive or means to have done this, and if nothing else, he straight up doesn’t recognize Blitzo in the newest episode.
Tumblr media
Cash on the other has both motive AND means in abundance. He was certainly one of the people most closely looking after Fizzerolli after the fire and he had every reason to want to cut Blitzo out of Fizzerolli’s life. Likely a combination of petty spite against his son for causing the accident which burned down their circus, likely injured dozens and even killed his wife, and also wanting to isolate and ‘protect’ Fizzerolli, his big cash cow. Especially now that he’d gotten the attention of Mammon, with Cash likely hoping to get/mooch as much as he could out of this new arrangement.
Tumblr media
Now that last bit in particular get’s interesting because it’s clear that if Cash was hoping to continue profiting off Fizzerolli, it clearly didn’t work. What with how we have seen neither hide nor hair of Cash around Fizz, who in turn has not brought him up once.
So what happened?
Tumblr media
Well, in a bit of delicious karmic irony, I think Cash was the one to cut Blitzo out of Fizz’s life, only to later get cut out of Fizz’s life himself by MAMMON.

On An Island Alone
It’s been 3 weeks since Chenford’s breakup and I feel like I’m on an island… alone.  The day after 6x06 aired, I made the decision to walk away from The Rookie. Well, at least until after the finale. I’ll decide if I'm walking away permanently once I check online and see how the season ended.  And before I go any further, to anyone who wants to say I'm not a true Rookie and (most importantly) Chenford fan: I have just as much right to stop watching the show as you do to keep watching it.
So why am I choosing to no longer watch the show?
The main reason I started watching the show in the first place is/was Chenford and I can’t sit there and watch them redo Seasons 4 and 5A and I won’t. Especially considering the fact we already know from Eric’s comments to TVLine they’re not getting back together by the end of the season finale.  I do not see them getting back together until at least the midseason finale next season.  Actually, if I’m being completely honest, I’m not sure they will get back together or if they even should.  I know me saying that will make a lot of people mad, but after reading Melissa and Eric’s post-episode interviews, I got a sense of finality when they were talking about Tim and Lucy’s relationship as a couple and the breakup.  Plus, I honestly don’t see how they can come back from what they did, which leads into the other reason why I’m not watching anymore.
Tim’s whole storyline rubs me the wrong way in so many ways.  They could’ve brought in his military past in so many other ways and still had him struggle without destroying his character in the process.  As it is, the storyline feels extremely forced just to cause drama for the sake of drama and, for me, irredeemably destroyed Tim’s character.  They completely erased 5 ½ seasons of character growth in the matter of only 1 ½ episodes.  And I'll never be able to see Tim the same way again, even if he goes to therapy.  I personally would never be able to trust him again and I honestly don’t see how Lucy could either.  That’s also why part of me feels like they should not get back together. Yes, I know it’s a short season and everything is condensed, but Alexi and the writers should not have done the storyline this late in the season, knowing they would not be able to do it justice with only 4 episodes left and not knowing the show’s fate by the time they finished filming the finale.  Since they were planning to break them up, I feel like they should’ve done it at the end of the premiere or by 6x03. That way there would’ve been time for Tim and Lucy to work through their struggles individually then work them as a couple by the end of the season.
Why do I feel like I’m on an island alone?
After the episode aired, a lot of the fandom was angry and a good number said they were done to show.  However, over the last few weeks, I’ve noticed that number dwindling and a lot fans are now justifying the breakup who weren’t before and they have absolutely every right to.  I can see where they’re coming from, to a certain extent.  Tim and Lucy both were hiding things from each other since they started dating and would just gloss over things that needed deep and meaningful conversations to work them out.  That said, I personally will never agree with the breakup or the whole (Tim’s) storyline and will always maintain the breakup was completely unnecessary and they could’ve (and should’ve) stayed together and worked through their struggles as a couple.  So yeah, I’m on an island alone… and that’s okay.

if the tyre test goes well (and i think it will) daniel getting that seat is a WHEN not an if anymore, i really believe that
(post summer break if checo keeps missing q3?👀)
i agree but i've said it once, i'll say it a million times: i REALLY don't think a midseason swap is in the cards here. it's a pain in the ass for the team, it's difficult on the driver coming in, and i think after everything that's been made about daniel's homecoming, they would really want to do everything possible to set him up for success. plus he's said how many times now that he really wants the full year off so....if they offered, obviously there's no way he'd refuse, but i think knowing where he stands and knowing what a pr nightmare headache it would be for them, they probably wouldn't offer in the first place unless it gets to a point where checo's like....not even managing q2s or points at all anymore 😭

some various thoughts (read: complaints) about tiger and bunny season 2 part 2, under the cut for spoilers and just general bitching
So first and most obvious, is this meant to be the last season or not. None of the overarching stuff with Ouroboros has actually been dealt with, with Gregory Sunshine mentioning the three leaders of it, and then him being killed by the orders of them. But then on the other hand, Kotetsu retiring with Barnaby going off by himself with the two of them in the museum in the post-credits also gives off real ending vibes? Having their plaque list the years of them together as a team, implying it’s over for real. But on the OTHER other hand, there was no epilogue like there was in season 1. The last we see of everyone is them wandering off in their respective teams. If this was really the end wouldn’t we get like a timeskip to Kotetsu having a different job or something like that?
Besides that, in general I feel like the writers didn’t know what to do with Kotetsu and Barnaby’s relationship this season. They clearly don’t want to make them canon lovers, which fine whatever I didn’t expect them to anyway, but it also seems like without that they can’t find a way to progress their friendship any more than they already have. They’ve got nothing to do or work on. The ending should at least imply that they’re still going to be friends right? But they never even got to go get a drink together like had been built up the whole season! What’s the point of that if there’s no payoff?
Speaking of which, they seemed to just forget about Mattia. They’ve built him up as being more shipbait for Barnaby, but then don’t even go the distance with that like they did with Kotetsu in season 1. The last six episodes Mattia has absolutely nothing to do, and Barnaby doesn’t even mention him or go to see him at the end. So??
The sudden decline of Kotetsu’s power came on too suddenly. It’s been consistently 1 whole minute since the end of season 1 but now it just suddenly stopped for good with no buildup save for Yuri mentioning it once. Plus it happens like offscreen lol. I thought for sure this would be a role reversal of season 1, with Barnaby having to break Kotetsu out of it using the power of gay friendship or whatever. But nope. And also the whole buildup with Barnaby’s leg being an issue is just??? Suddenly not a problem anymore?? Because he uses Kotetsu’s suit???
There’s already a lot of good posts talking about how badly the writers treated Yuri so I’ll skip over him for now lol.
After being built up and foreshadowed SO much for all of season 2, Little Aurora was just a macguffin. She doesn’t do anything except almost get killed. Her power is never used for anything interesting, or to help the plot. She’s just. There.
This part of the season didn’t have as much focus on the other hero teams either. Subaru and Thomas were the only ones to get any real development, though Karina and Ryan did continue to be the best just like the first part of the season. There was much more plot-focus this part as opposed to character development, so it’s a shame that the plot didn’t end up leading up to much.
Also Kaede might as well have just not existed for these last 12 episodes lol. I kept thinking she was going to do something, especially after she remembered the things Kotetsu had said to her, but nope! Just stands there and does nothing.
Lastly, the villains of this arc are just a lot less compelling than all the previous villains. Gregory Sunshine is obnoxious, which I guess is fine bc that’s the point of him, but the other lady who I don’t even know the name of is just boring. You don’t find out her backstory until right before her death, and it doesn’t really make sense with her previous behavior anyway. Fugan and Mugan were a lot more sympathetic, and you genuinely felt for them. And Maverick had a direct connection to a main character, so he was much more threatening. Even Jake as the midseason boss of season 1 was a lot more entertaining to watch.
If we do get a season 3, then a lot of these complaints will be moot, and I’ll be happy for it. The fact that the ending of this season felt rushed won’t be as big of an issue. But if we DONT get a season 3, then honestly I feel like this is a downgrade as a finale compared to season 2 or the rising movie.

SaL anon here friend, sorry for the long absence, family holiday time has kept me busy. But i saw that plot of 911 AO3 data and wanted to add that there's probably no strictly scientific way to analyze it (too many variables) but it would be VERY interesting to see the same data plotted for last year and compare. One could argue if it's the same, the holiday season is to blame, BUT if it's different, since last midseason ended with Eddie leaving, it makes the shitty storylines pretty suspect!
Hi bestie! Samesies with family holiday time, though I'm now back home, with a few days still off to recuperate before I have to return to the office.
As for that post, I'm also curious about the data from other seasons during this time but I KNOW last year was buzzing with "Eddie leaving the 118" fics, and s4-5 hiatus was full of shooting and recovery fics with no mid-season break in s4. My initial assumption would be that s3 didn't have *huge* cliffhangers, especially not for Buddie, but both the mid and season finales had some really domestic Buddie moments which probably fueled some speculation and fics and with everything that went on with the tsunami, blood clots, law suit, street fighting, Eddie Begins, and the train crash and what happened with Abby (and Eddie being A Bitch about her), there was enough fodder to keep fans and writers busy. So much so that we're STILL getting fics about those events. Though I would argue some of that has to do with a) the show not giving enough crumbs to keep people busy currently so they're revisiting the past and b) the past being so easily revisit-able because of the show not fully addressing these events wrt Buddie and how they felt about the other person being in those difficult situations plus all the NEW situations that have happened that Buck and Eddie aren't being allowed to talk about to ANYONE, much less each other.
No matter what, the fandom certainly seems to have a lot of *crickets* right now, and whooo boy are the SM teams not helping matters by posting scenes with L as if anyone needed that reminder, continuing to bring up Buck's awful sperm donor storyline at every opportunity, and even misspelling Jee-Yun's name in a video post. I think the hiatus was desperately needed when it happened but also with as much as people just didn't find the season interesting or engaging, the news about Buck's storyline, and the constant 2 week breaks, the early hiatus (after only 9 episodes too), and the late return (most other shows are back from mid-season this week), unless they get in gear and start promoting early like they've been doing with Lone Star, the viewers who even bother to return from the break might be pretty telling. I hope the show is taking this longer break time to maybe reassess some things but I'm not holding my breath for change before the end of the season.
It was good to hear from you, even if I was a little late getting to the reply, and I've got your other ask on my list to do tomorrow now that I'm home and have a keyboard and larger screen to work off of. Here's hoping the new year brings better things for our wee-woo show.

[ad_1] NFL Nation, ESPNNov 7, 2023, 07:00 AM ETWelcome to Week 10 of the 2023 NFL season. It's finally midseason! There were three games over the weekend featuring six teams that ranked in the top 11 of last week's NFL Power Rankings. The results of those games heavily impacted our top 10 this week -- and one team was kicked out.Plus, since it's midseason, our NFL Nation reporters name a non-QB MVP on every team. Whether it's the receivers who are on pace to break the receiving record, the No. 1 defender on the NFL's No. 1 defense, a running back who has scored a touchdown in 17 straight games or a reliable center on a struggling team who is just really polite -- we list an MVP who is not the quarterback for every team. Here are the updated rankings, starting with last week's (and this week's) No. 1 -- the Philadelphia Eagles. Our power panel of more than 80 writers, editors and TV personalities evaluates how NFL teams stack up against one another, ranking them from 1 to 32.Previous rankings: Preseason | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5 | Week 6 | Week 7 | Week 8 | Week 9Jump to a team:ARI | ATL | BAL | BUF | CAR | CHI | CINCLE | DAL | DEN | DET | GB | HOU | INDJAX | KC | LAC | LAR | LV | MIA | MINNE | NO | NYG | NYJ | PHI | PIT | SFSEA | TB | TEN | WSHWeek 9 ranking: 1Non-QB MVP: WR A.J. BrownBrown has been one of the league's most impactful players over the first half. He made history by becoming the first to go for 125-plus receiving yards in six consecutive games. He also set a new team mark for quickest player to 1,000 yards receiving (nine games). "He's on an unbelievable historic tear right now," said offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, "and it's a testament to him, who he is as a person, to how serious he is about perfecting his craft and making the most of his opportunities." -- Tim McManusWeek 9 ranking: 3Non-QB MVP: TE Travis KelceThe Chiefs have several defenders playing well, but Kelce to a large extent has carried the passing game with the other receivers struggling. He has 25% of the Chiefs' catches (57) and 24% of their receiving yards (597). He returned from an ankle injury to be a key player in a Week 5 win over the Vikings. -- Adam Teicherplay0:44Spears: Chiefs have a real problem on offenseMarcus Spears expresses his concern over the Chiefs' offensive struggles so far this season.Week 9 ranking: 4Non-QB MVP: MLB Roquan SmithHe's the quarterback and leading tackler on a defense that has allowed the fewest points in the NFL this season at 13.8 -- an average of two points less per game than any other team. Smith is all over the field, recording 87 tackles, 1.5 sacks and 5 passes defensed. What can't be measured is his impact as a vocal and emotional leader. Just like Ray Lewis years ago, Smith talks to the team in the final pregame huddle on the field. He's the unquestioned tone-setter for the team. "His energy is infectious," Ravens safety Kyle Hamilton said. "You don't want to be the guy that isn't matching his energy when you're out there. We go as he goes." -- Jamison HensleyWeek 9 ranking: 2Non-QB MVP: WR Tyreek HillHill could be the MVP of the entire league, regardless of position. The league's leading receiver is on pace to break 2,000 receiving yards for the first time in NFL history and remains its premier downfield threat. While he has commanded a higher target share in 2023 than his previous season with the Dolphins, he has shown that he can handle the extra workload. The Dolphins' offense has slowed a bit from its pace to start the season, but Hill remains on track for yet another first-team All-Pro nomination. -- Marcel Louis-JacquesEditor's Picks2 RelatedWeek 9 ranking: 8Non-QB MVP: WR Amon-Ra St. BrownThe Pro Bowl receiver was named one of six team captains for the 2023 season and has continued to build on a great start to his NFL career. St. Brown might not be the most vocal person in the locker room, but his work ethic and production speaks for itself. He has five 100-yard receiving games this season, helping Detroit to a 6-2 start for the first time since 2014. He pushed through an illness to help the Lions beat the Raiders on "Monday Night Football" on Oct. 30 -- finishing with six receptions for 108 yards. Performances like that one have inspired his teammates and the coaching staff. "That was not the best he's felt, but like a true warrior he just sucked it up and he went," coach Dan Campbell said after the game. -- Eric WoodyardWeek 9 ranking: 6Non-QB MVP: OLB Josh AllenRunning back Travis Etienne Jr. (583 yards rushing, 8 total TDs) might deserve it, too, but Allen gets the nod because the defense has surprisingly carried an offense that hasn't operated at a consistently high level in the first half. Allen is having the best year of his career (9 sacks) and has pretty much been the Jaguars' entire pass rush. His 48 QB pressures are more than twice the number of the next-closest teammate (Travon Walker with 22), according to NFL Next Gen Stats. He also has helped the run defense rank third in the NFL (79.3 yards per game). -- Michael DiRoccoWeek 9 ranking: 11Non-QB MVP: DE Trey HendricksonHendrickson is one of the league's most disruptive defensive linemen. He ranks 11th in pass rush win rate as an edge rusher (ESPN/NFL Next Gen Stats). According to ESPN tracking data, Hendrickson has created 9 sacks (fifth most among defenders), 19 incompletions (third most) and 2 interceptions this season. When he gets a first pressure, opponents are completing just 18.2% of their pass attempts. -- Ben Babyplay1:58McAfee: The Bengals are all the way backPat McAfee and Darius Butler discuss how much of a threat the Bengals are in the AFC after their win over the Bills.Week 9 ranking: 7Non-QB MVP: RB Christian McCaffreyMcCaffrey staked an early spot in the league MVP race, but an oblique injury in Week 6 has slowed that momentum a bit. Still, McCaffrey ranks in the top three in the league in scrimmage yards per game (118), total touchdowns (13) and rushing yards (652). He also has scored a touchdown in 17 straight games (including playoffs), tying him with Lenny Moore for the longest streak in NFL history. -- Nick WagonerWeek 9 ranking: 5Non-QB MVP: WR CeeDee LambLamb is on pace to set Cowboys records for catches (121) and yards (1,751) in a single season, surpassing Hall of Famer Michael Irvin. He has put up back-to-back 150-receiving-yard games, the first Dallas receiver to do that since Miles Austin in 2009. He has 14 100-yard receiving games in his career, trailing only Hall of Famer Bob Hayes (15). Despite the extra attention from defenses, Lamb is still making a ton of plays whether lining up outside or in the slot. -- Todd ArcherWeek 9 ranking: 12Non-QB MVP: DE Myles GarrettGarrett has gone from perennial All-Pro to front-runner for NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He is tied for second in the league with 9.5 sacks, spearheading one of the NFL's top defenses. Last month, Garrett became the first player this millennium to finish a game with two sacks, two forced fumbles and a blocked field goal, as he almost single-handedly carried the Browns to a win over the Colts. Despite several injuries to its offense, Cleveland is in the thick of the playoff picture. Garrett is the biggest reason. -- Jake TrotterWeek 9 ranking: 9Non-QB MVP: WR Stefon DiggsFor all of the inconsistencies that have plagued the Bills' offense this season, it's hard to imagine where the unit would be without Diggs. He is consistently making splash plays, such as a 34-yard gain on the opening drive against the Bengals that got the Bills moving downfield, and is arguably the most reliable performer on an offense that is dealing with its share of issues. Diggs leads the team in almost every receiving category (70 receptions for 834 yards and seven touchdowns), and getting Diggs the ball is a recipe for success. -- Alaina Getzenbergplay2:16Has the Bills' Super Bowl window closed?Ryan Clark and Rex Ryan explain why the Bills are no longer Super Bowl contenders.Week 9 ranking: 10Non-QB MVP: OLB Boye MafeMafe would be the choice even if quarterbacks were included. He has taken the biggest second-year leap of anyone from the Seahawks' stellar 2022 draft class, recording a full sack in six straight games to tie the longest streak in franchise history. In seven games, he already has doubled his sack total from his rookie season. Mafe's sack Sunday against Baltimore forced a fumble that Seattle recovered. He ranks third in PRWR among edge players this season, behind only Micah Parsons and Myles Garrett, according to ESPN Analytics/NFL Next Gen Stats. -- Brady HendersonWeek 9 ranking: 14Non-QB MVP: EDGE T.J. WattThis is a no-brainer. No one is having a bigger game-changing impact for the Steelers than Watt. Through eight games, Watt has 9.5 sacks -- tied for second most in the NFL with Garrett and Maxx Crosby -- 2 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries and 1 interception. And one of those fumble recoveries was a game-winning scoop-and-score in the fourth quarter of Pittsburgh's Week 2 win against the Browns. Without Watt, the Steelers aren't 5-3 or in the thick of the AFC playoff hunt. -- Brooke PryorCeeDee Lamb, Travis Kelce & Myles Garrett ESPNWeek 9 ranking: 15Non-QB MVP: WR Keenan AllenNearly every player on the Chargers has fluctuated from bad to good this year, but Allen, in his 11th season, has been one of the team's most consistent players. He is on pace for 1,530 yards this season, which would be the most in his career. He currently has 62 receptions, 720 yards and 4 touchdowns. In a win over the Vikings, Allen threw a 49-yard touchdown pass and caught 18 passes for 215 yards. Coach Brandon Staley said Allen plays the position "as an art form." "He has some stuff that's intangible," Staley said, "that's hard to find." -- Kris RhimWeek 9 ranking: 16Non-QB MVP: TE/QB Taysom HillHill started the season listed as a TE, and is a quarterback sometimes -- but not enough for him to be disqualified here. He has been the best thing going the past three games as the Saints have started to come together on offense. Hill has helped fix the Saints' red zone issues with three rushing touchdowns, a receiving touchdown and a passing touchdown in the past three games. -- Katherine TerrellWeek 9 ranking: 17Non-QB MVP: RT Brian O'NeillThis is difficult given the Vikings' injury-based roster churn on offense and their weekly personnel shifts on defense. But after spending training camp in the final stages of recovery from an Achilles injury he suffered Jan. 1, O'Neill returned to the lineup in Week 1, has played every offensive snap and leads the NFL in pass block win rate at 94.7% (ESPN/NFL Next Gen Stats). His presence has been especially valuable given injuries that have forced left tackle Christian Darrisaw to miss a pair of games. It's always tough to predict voting for postseason awards among offensive linemen, but O'Neill deserves strong consideration for All-Pro honors. -- Kevin Seifertplay1:43What does Joshua Dobbs' strong debut mean for Vikings pass catchers?Field Yates analyzes what Josh Dobbs' terrific debut means for Jordan Addison and T.J. Hockenson.Week 9 ranking: 23Non-QB MVP: LT Laremy TunsilTunsil continues to show the world he deserves to be in the conversation for the best left tackle in the NFL. He's third among tackles in PBWR (94.1%) and is one of the biggest reasons rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud has performed so well. Tunsil has anchored the protection around Stroud, who has been sacked only seven times in the past six games. -- DJ Bien-AimeWeek 9 ranking: 13Non-QB MVP: RB Breece HallIt's simple math: The Jets are 4-0 when Hall scores a touchdown. Going back to last season, it's 8-0. Running as if last year's ACL surgery never happened, Hall was leading the NFL in yards per carry (5.7) at the start of Week 9. The Jets' offense is out of balance because of a subpar passing game, causing opponents to overplay the run, but that hasn't stopped Hall from being the home run threat they haven't had in more than a decade. -- Rich CiminiWeek 9 ranking: 24Non-QB MVP: WR Terry McLaurinThis was not an easy one to pick -- no one is having a Pro Bowl season -- but McLaurin has been one of the most consistent Commanders, with 47 catches for 568 yards and 2 touchdowns. In the past six games he has topped 70 yards receiving four times; he has averaged 73.7 yards per game in that stretch compared to 42 in the first three. McLaurin remains the heartbeat of the offense. When he's involved early, the offense benefits. He's on pace for 88 catches and 1,072 yards and would become the first player in franchise history to top 1,000 yards in four consecutive seasons. -- John KeimFollow the NFL all season long • Full schedule » | Standings »• Depth charts for every team »• Transactions » | Injuries »• Football Power Index »More NFL coverage » Week 9 ranking: 18Non-QB MVP: S Jessie Bates IIIAtlanta's biggest splash free agent signing, Bates provides stability in the back end and leadership off the field. He's leading the team in interceptions (3) and forced fumbles (2) and tied for third on the team in tackles (60). He has been a big part of an improved Falcons defense that has kept the team in games while the offense sorts things out week after week. -- Michael RothsteinWeek 9 ranking: 21Non-QB MVP: DT DeForest BucknerYou can portray Buckner's impact with numbers -- 5 sacks, 6 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles -- but that doesn't really reflect the true value of his presence. A better representation is the reality that Buckner easily commands more attention from offenses than any player on the Colts' defense. He is among the most frequently double-teamed players in the NFL this season in run and passing situations. And his ability to collapse the quarterback pocket as a pass-rusher has fueled the production of players around him like Kwity Paye and Samson Ebukam. -- Stephen HolderWeek 9 ranking: 25Non-QB MVP: DE Maxx CrosbyThe two-time Pro Bowler and burgeoning All-Pro is making snap count almost as attractive a statistic as sacks. Almost. Crosby rarely comes off the field -- he has missed only two defensive snaps in the Raiders' past six games -- and he is coming off his third career three-sack game. In fact, he has 9.5 of the Raiders' 24 sacks, and no one else on Las Vegas' roster has more than two sacks. But Gary came back from a torn ACL he suffered last season and has 4.5 sacks and a team-high 18 pressures despite being on a limited snap count early in the season. He has the eighth-best pressure percentage (13.1% according to ESPN Stats & Information) among all NFL defenders. And he recently signed a four-year extension. -- Rob DemovskyWeek 9 ranking: 22Non-QB MVP: RB Derrick HenryHenry's snaps this season (56.4% of all offensive snaps) are slightly down from last year (66.8%). But he remains the most important player on the Titans' offense. Every week defenses dedicate most of their resources to slowing Henry down. The Titan's winning formula remains the same: Give Henry touches and good things happen. Henry has 20 or more carries in three games this season. He gained at least 100 rushing yards in two of those instances and Tennessee won all three games. It's not just the stats, though. The play-action passing game is more effective when Henry is running effectively. Henry leads the Titans in touchdowns scored (4) and has a passing touchdown on his résumé this season. -- Turron DavenportWeek 9 ranking: 19Non-QB MVP: DT Aaron DonaldThe Rams have had to rely on their defense this season, and the young group has played better than expected. With a lot of new faces after the departures of veterans, including cornerback Jalen Ramsey and linebacker Bobby Wagner, the unit has been led by Donald. And the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year has shown up on the stat sheet, too. Entering Week 10, he ranked third in the NFL in pass rush win rate for defensive tackles. Other than a rare lapse when Surtain allowed the Jets' Robbie Chosen to get behind him for a 68-yard touchdown in Week 5, he has been every bit the All-Pro he's expected to be. He is third on the team in offensive snaps (92.6%), has a team-high 735 receiving yards (15.6 yards per catch) and is tied for the lead with five touchdowns. There have been games where Moore hasn't been targeted nearly enough, but he still manages to produce and give quarterbacks Justin Fields and Tyson Bagent a trusty deep-ball threat. -- Courtney CroninBest of NFL Nation• Jets' playoff hopes fueled by '22 rookies• Why Chargers traded J.C. He leads Carolina in tackles with 62, having to play inside and outside because of injuries and an overall lack of a speed rusher opposite Brian Burns. He has a team-best 7 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks to rank second to Burns. Luvu is playing well enough to make his first Pro Bowl, although getting attention on a 1-7 team will make that tough. -- David NewtonWeek 9 ranking: 32Non-QB MVP: WR Marquise BrownArizona is on its third quarterback and has had injuries to starters at tight end and running back, but Brown has been consistent. He leads the Cardinals with 42 receptions, 440 yards and 4 touchdowns while averaging 10.5 yards per catch. In the final year of his contract, Brown has also been responsible for 27 of Arizona's 85 passing first downs this season, which comes to about 32%. -- Josh Weinfuss [ad_2] Source link

don’t mind me but I keep speculating about how the whole gang is gonna spend a few episodes traveling back to Corona and reconnecting and trying to heal after everything they went through
only to get back and find out the Separatists of Saporia launched a full-scale invasion

I know some people prefer consistent content but I like to take it as it comes and sometimes life happens and other projects need to take priority.
So right now, I consider this to be a mid season break. Techno going into the prison was like the midseason finale for the Dream Prison Arc and Wilbur and Ranboo’s stuff was like their midseason finale and the Red Banquet where the egg was contained, was a midseason finale and alllllllll the mini episodes we’ve had since there are like specials etc.
You know, like how in Dr Who you can go a few years without a solid season but get a special at Christmas and New Year? You know like that.
So like all other programs, stories, videos I watch, I am coming up with ways in which the next bit could go. Some are a bit out there and definitely not happening, others I could see happening.
This is long and pointless and full or errors both grammatically and spelling wise but I had fun thinking of what could happen next. Read if you want.
Dream escapes prison with Technoblades help. A server wide man hunt comes for Dream but unlike his videos he had stolen the spare armour in the prison and so is pretty OP making it easier for him to put distance between his enemies and himself.
Technoblade returns to the artic and him, Phil and Will come to an in pass, a slight disagreement. Philza whilst having sided with Dream before, knows he’s not a good guy. Only used him to help destroy lmanburg for his own morals. It was not because he agreed with Dream. In his eyes, he was using Dream for his own goals. Plus, now he’s seen the aftermath of Dream’s terror on the citizens he realises the man perhaps shouldn’t be set to run entirely free. This slightly goes against Techno’s beliefs but the main issue of tension between them is Technoblade willingly placing himself in danger when he didn’t need too and helping release the man who tortured Tommy and clearly has something going on with Ranboo thats bad.
Wilbur is angry because Techno won’t say where Dream has gone due to an agreement between the two and Technoblade is a man of his word. Wilbur wishes to thank and meet the man who saved him. This also worries Philza because he’s worried he’ll revert back to the man he saw the day he blew up L’Manburg. Over all tension between the three
Niki and Wilbur finally meet and it is as heartbreaking as it is beautifully tragic. Wilbur apologises but misses the mark, misses what hurt her which hurts her more. There’s an explosion with their argument that leaves a stunned silence. Niki asks Wilbur to leave. He does so.
This leads to a Wilbur and Ranboo conversation where Ranboo tries to reason with Wilbur about Niki’s side. Wilbur brushes it off because much like the blue counterpart we all miss, he’s not a fan of the negative emotion. He tries to focus on the business etc and let’s slip that Dream has escaped somehow. Ranboo leaves. Wilbur is confused but distracted by a confrontation with Quackity.
Ranboo then starts his stream and he’s in the fucking panic room and he’s panicking because there are signs so many signs and they don’t make sense. Theres lesson rules, asking about the missing journal and it’s like every issue he’s ever faced is staring right back at him because Ranboo has never really resolved any issue, just pushed and moved on. He’s tried but that usually failed and for a while he’s ignored all the issues and here they are in front of him, all at one. A big volcanic eruption of anxiety and stress, and it ain’t sitting with him.
Dream appears. But is it really him? We never know because after a conflict and a back and fourth about everyone in Ranboo’s life eventually landing on a threat about Michael and Tubbo, he blacks out and the stream ends.
Quackity is livid with everything thats happening, the careful empire he’s building is falling apart and he’s shifting the blame around from person to person. He manipulates everyone around them into believing this is somehow their own fault and that they must make it up to him because he has been nothing but kind and loving to them. He gave them a place, a roof on their head when they had nothing. He misses out the parts where he insulted and or destroyed their homes, but it works and his employee “family” become the main bounty hunters for Dream, with Bad and Ant tagging along since they’re guards.
Now the streams relating to the manhunt displays everyones wants. They’re all doing this wanting something, and whilst it’s to gain Quackity’s favour back they’re all doing that for different reasons. Their motivations are somewhat different even if on the surface they are the same and so on the man hunts, because there will be many, this is slowly picked apart and through that the manipulation of Quackity is revealed and then we see a parrallel between Quackity and previous people in power where they start to get desperate to keep control over the thing they’ve created. Because that’s been one of (not the only) issues with every leader on the server, the control and their feeling of lack of, even if thats not truly the case. But you get these moments between all the characters where they’re trying to outwit one another, trying to figure it out without blatantly saying it. Maybe Foolish does. He’s a bit of a himbo.
Ponk always said he’d leave the door open for Sam and I truly think something happens, whether it be a look in the mirror with one of his guards going too far with someone or a conversation with Quackity where Quackity holds the mirror up to Sam maliciously, that causes him to hit the rock bottom and just break and I want that breakdown in front of Ponk. And I want Ponk not necessarily to give him the second chance off the bat but give him that peace offering, give him that hand to pull him up. I want him to take Sam to Niki and explain to Niki we’ve done bad things in the past, this is a safe haven and I believe Sam needs help and a place he can truly feel safe and for a moment Sam does and this begins his raid to redemption in gaining back the trust of the people in his lives. He becomes Tubbo 2.0 spying on Quackity like Tubbo did for Wilbur, but maybe less... bad.
But what of the Fiances? Wellllll,. With Dream escaping him and George meet in secret. George confesses he doesn’t believe it’s real and for a long time has been struggling with reality. He misses the early days, misses when they’d just have fun. Dream says he was having fun and George says I wasn’t. Dream shows true regret for George but says its too late now, can’t change the past. George agrees. Dream asks him what he’s going to do and he simply replies with “Sleep” Ending stream.
Sapanps stream is a lot more WE ARE GOING ON A DREAM HUNT WE’RE GOING TO CATCH A BIG ONE, I’M NOT SCARED. vibes. He’s gearing up, he’s suiting up and he’s saluting pets on the way. He made a promise and with everything else going on in his life, he’s ready to throw himself into a distraction. He tries to convince George to help him but he waves him off saying, what’s the point? and mumbles something about divine powers and dreams which Sapnap just shakes off. He tries to find Karl in Kinoko but instead comes across Quackity. They have a blow up about how They abandoned each other, both did wrong but neither see the other side of things and eventually he tells him to leave. Quackity says okay, and the place blows up. Foolish cries in the corner. All that heard work but the boss said so. Sapnap ends the whole thing saying at least he’s there for Karl and Quackity pauses and is like why? And Sapnap is all like you care. Just go, you’ve done enough damage, I can’t have you damaging him too. And after a little more but but but between the two, Quackity goes. Sapnap leaves the place to burn, going to find Dream and hopefully Karl on the way.
Karls in space. That’s where his latest travels have taken him and where the other side decided was his time to visit. Here I see a Wizard in Oz scenario where solutions to some issues will be revealed for Karl in relation to the other side. When it comes to his Dream SMP stuff, he starts confusing names and people more and Sapnap is worried about him, considering keeping him in a safe place. The only place that survived was the library with Karls books. Karl says he’ll stay there. Thats where the answers are anyway. Sapnap is unsure and gets bad vibes but is distracted by a lead on Dream and agrees, he tells him he’ll be back soon.
They don’t see each other for a long ass time
I’m not sure on the egg stuff but I do feel Niki and Puffy should have a conversation about all the shit thats happened and Puffy trying to help Niki and vice versa. I feel like Puffy should reach out to Foolish and try and comprehend what the fuck is he doing with Quackity. They have a little argument but it comes to a point where Puffy realises she cannot shield Foolish from harm and that her son ,just make his own decisions. All she can do is guide him where she can and hope that when it comes down to it he will make the right choice. She hopes she didn’t fail this dependant like she did with Dream her duckling. Though only she sees it as failure.
Jack and Niki finally talk. She goes searching for some things and comes to his new place, he tells her to fuck off and that he doesn’t need anyone. They all abandon him. Niki pretty much does the verbal equivalent of slap some sense into him as she and him discuss how he is not the centre of everything, how he is not the sun. She was hurting, and he didn’t bother, no instead they just fed off each others anger and once he couldn’t feed of her or anyone else he isolated himself. She tries to convince him there are better things in life, there are better ways to place your energy etc. A lot of healing talk with Jack being stubborn. Eventually Jack finds himself at the door of Quackity after sticking to stubbornness, not quite ready to heal and he becomes the next member of Las Nevadas. A big blow to Wilbur too.
They finally destroy the egg with magic. I dunno how but either destroy or hatch. Either or would be great. Red comes out the thing and I want a gay ass villain please. Bring it Red. Let’s go. Invite him to the server, bring the fire, bring the plant power Red. He can be the villain that unites everyone in a begrudging way. Like they all hate each other but fine i guess we’ll team to stop Red and Ant.
Skeppy’s dead.
Tubbo and Ranboo have a fight but Ranboo says “Weren’t we enough?” and it’s in relation to him and Michael (this happens before panic room). Thats when Tubbo realises where the wires got crossed and he immediately rectifies it but explaining he’s happy with the two of them but he wanted a job, something to work towards. Family wise he’s got it all, he’s content with it all but he wanted a project and one that didn’t incite violence. Fun rivalry sure, but he’s done with violence, he’s doesn’t want to add to the nightmares he already has. He wants competition but not one that will put all he loves in danger. So they talk it out and Ranboo feels more confident and Tubbo asks him to tell him if he ever takes anything too far because he can get a little carried away sometimes. Ranboo agrees and then they have a cute playdate with Michael. Then Ranboo does the thing with Wilbur and ends up in panic room.
Tommy and Tubbo discuss everything and lay it all out on the table because Tommy doesn’t want to be on the other side again with Tubbo. Tubbo doesn’t understand why everyone is making such a big deal about his burger business and Tommy tries to explain the issues with Quackity and the level of intensity he’s seen with Wilbur but Tubbo just laughs it off. They eventually talk about Ranboo and Tommy relents saying he likes Ranboo although he does sometimes get jealous of how Tubbo seems to have it all. Tubbo tells Tommy of his nightmares and so does Tommy to Tubbo. They come to an understanding with each other and understand that no matter how long they go apart, there is always a space shaped to fit them perfectly in their lives for them. Tubbo and Tommy then go play some pranks.
Wilbur is unhappy with the pranks and gives a lecture and they get into a fight. This leads to Wilbur talking man to man to Quackity. Theres some weird sexual tension. Once again they’re trying to outwit one another. That when we get to the crazy stuff.
And here’s where I get crazy with my stuff.
Ponk is digging in his lil cave when he accidentally breaks through to a random room buried deep underground. Tommy’s there trying to scam him out of something he has. Tubbo and Ranboo too. When they get to this room Ranboo thinking it’s the panic one and freaks out, but the others calm him down. Ponk thinking theres diamonds in the room storms ahead setting off some traps but surviving. Tubbo opens one of the chests and just says theres a bucket in there. Ponk pulls it out and says it has a named fish in it.
You see where I’m going.
They empty the bucket whilst asking what the fish is called. They are interrupted by a voice. It’s Sally.
Dream had captured her and bound her to a bucket and put her in the chest and hid her from Wilbur.
She has been released. She freaks out over how much time has past because for her nothing has changed at all. She thought it might have been a couple of hours or something since Dream pulled that prank on her but clearly not.
They all catch up and the season ends with Sally and Wilbur meeting in front of Quackity, Dream in the shadows and Sally and Wilbur turning to see Fundy who just freaks the fuck out.
Oh and just a side, Callahan is the last member of the syndicate and God of the server and is having fun playing with the mortals.
And then I have the next season planned out and how I’d end the whole thing but like until then. This is it. Mid Season to finale. How I picture things happening.
None of this will happen but isn’t it fun to imagine?

Since I'm lovin' Holy Live right now, how would the other Riders react to this incredible final form? (Yes, there is confirmation of that last bit)
...Where was that confirmed? Most 2nd Riders these days have 3 forms at minimum (base form -> midseason upgrade -> final form), usually getting the final form right before the Main Rider gets his at around the episode 38-40 mark.
We’re nowhere near the end of the show so Daiji still has a lot of time to grow as a Rider. Plus, this is only Live’s second form. I don’t see why he would be the one breaking the trend.
Aside from that, it looks pretty cool though I think most of Daiji’s peers (ie the Second Riders) would hold back their criticism until they face up against him themselves in a spar or something. They’re very competitive that way...

Since the show is listed as part of NBC fall lineup, do you think they will start filming in mid/late July like “normal” and start airing late September, or they will delay slightly since they have gone longer at the end of this season, and maybe premiere later in the fall? If you don’t have any answers feel free to skip this ask!
The show actually hasn't premiered in late September since it started airing on Fridays. S6 was midseason (January) and the S7 premiere was October 4, a week or so after the rest of the NBC fall lineup premiered. In seasons 1 & 7 they aired 10 episodes in the fall, but in seasons 2-5 they only aired 8 before going to the midseason break.
This year, they are filming about five weeks later than normal into the spring (usually filming ends around April 30) but I would not expect them to start S9 production much later than normal (if they delay at all) because they still have to fit in a certain number of episodes for fall airing and I'm sure they'd like to avoid having the extremely tight post-production schedule they faced at certain points this year and be able to take their normal break around the holidays etc. Even if they start "on time," in July the cast is still getting about 7 weeks off. Plus, there are other schedules (writers, post-production etc.) that have to be factored in so even if they do give them some extra time, I wouldn't expect it to be delayed by much.

When do u think dean n cas wouldve become canon if the spn writers weren't like that
assuming all other storylines up to that point had stayed the same, i really do think human!cas in season 9 would have been the perfect time for them to go canon. even though i don’t like season 7 i think dean grieving cas was vital to taking their relationship from its early seasons “friendship with massive sexual tension” vibes to a full-blown romance. dean had to lose cas for a long time, then kind of get him back but not really, then actually get him back in order to realize how much cas meant to him. plus purgatory, as a place of pure id, is the perfect environment for dean “repression boy” winchester to admit to himself that his feelings for cas are romantic.
so then season 8 is just dean pining but thinking he can never have cas because cas is an angel and can’t feel that way for him, which leads perfectly into the finale twist of the angels falling from heaven and cas becoming human.
next season cas is human and experiencing the intensity of human emotion for the first time while also realizing that some of these feelings that he’s only now able to put a name to aren’t actually new, namely the way he feels for dean, who (in this universe where the spn writers are normal about gay people) does not kick him out of the bunker and is having an internal crisis about the fact that his whole dilemma/excuse for not being with cas has gone out the window. in this au cas stays human for much longer so the writers can draw out the will-they-or-won’t-they, and then in the penultimate episode of the season they finally get together but immediately afterwards they learn of a way for cas to get his grace back. it’s probably risky and/or would necessitate him returning to heaven for a while because they need to up the drama and emotional stakes heading into the season finale. idk whether or not cas ends up actually getting his grace back in this alternate s9 finale but either way things ultimately work out for him and dean—either he stays human and they get to spent season 10 navigating their new relationship+the fact that cas chose dean over his grace, or he gets his grace back but he and dean promise to return to each other as soon as the coma/heaven trip/whatever is done, which probably happens in like the midseason finale of season 10.
that being said, even though i know it only worked out this way because this show wanted to queerbait to the bitter end, i do really like dean and cas going canon at the very end of the series, coinciding with the defeat of chuck/them breaking free from the writers who refused to let them be together for so long. love conquers all including the line between fiction and reality. also i wouldn’t trade the shrieking hysterical joy of november 5th for anything in the world.
i’ve only seen up to about halfway through season 9 so it’s possible i would have a different answer if i’d actually seen the entire show lmao

Ranking Every SPN Midseason Finale
Tumblr media
15) 10.09 The Things We Left Behind. Claire’s reintroduction isn’t as bad as some of her later appearances, mostly because she’s still hostile towards Cas and the Winchesters, but it’s still not great. There’s Rowena and Crowley drama I don’t care about, and Dean kills a bunch of people, which is kinda fun, but would be more interesting if it had any consequences.
14) 14.09 The Spear. Michael’s monsters plan is pretty dumb. I’m still not clear on why Michael stopped possessing Dean at any point. Michael and Jack have a good conversation, and I suppose an assassination is the only viable plan for the Winchesters to go for, but most of this episode is just a series of “why” moments one after another.
13) 1.10 Asylum. This is a perfectly acceptable MOTW episode, and a ghost-addled Sam yelling at and punching Dean is fun, but it’s simply not up to snuff with the kind of plot or character development that the other midseason finales put on the table.
12) 13.09 The Bad Place. I really like Kaia and Jack here. The moment with the angels pounding on the ground to break the wards is genuinely pretty cool.  The stakes get upped with the reveal that Mary’s being tortured in Apocaland, and Dean reacts by threatening Kaia at gunpoint, nice. It’s not a bad episode, and it’s not incredible either.
11) 12.08 LOTUS. Is this episode silly? Oh yes. Am I thoroughly entertained when watching it? Resoundingly yes. Every dumb terrible campy detail--like Lucifer turning crosses upside down—combined with the sheer balls-to-the-wall wtf-ery of the President being possessed, and the interspersed moments of genuine drama—as when Sam banishes Lucifer—creates a combination that I can’t help but enjoy. I also like the likely somewhat unintentional implications as to how the political landscape of the SPN world was changed by the sheer volume of apocalyptic events it’s experienced. Seems fair to conclude that God is angry.
10) 8.09 Citizen Fang. Dean sends Sam after Amelia with a fake text, as their s8 conflict comes to a head. This is far from the shadiest thing Dean’s ever done, but it’s so fascinatingly, unapologetically a Relationship Red Flag that I really enjoy it. Plus, I find Sam’s conflict with Benny pretty interesting here.
9) 6.11 Appointment in Samara. Dean’s deal with Death is a cool concept, and it’s set up well, but it falls a bit flat. Dean fails the test in a way that’s very predictable, and that has no consequences, because Death likes Sam enough to retrieve him anyway. The better part of this episode is Soulless’ desperate, last ditch attempt to save his life at the cost of Bobby’s—he screams and begs as his soul is returned, and I love the moral dilemma here.
8) 9.09 Holy Terror. Kevin!! His death was viscerally shocking and heartbreaking. This episode is consigned to mid B tier because of the angel drama I don’t care about, and because I am still torn on if I really like Kevin’s death thematically speaking. For one thing, I miss him to this day—I miss having a cynical, informed perspective on the Winchesters in the room. For another, it muddies the waters of Dean’s crime in having Gadreel possess Sam, in ways that are sometimes interesting but sometimes miss the point.
7) 15.08 Our Father, Who Aren’t in Heaven. *chanting* New Cage canon! New Cage canon! Jake Abel steals the show with his insane chemistry with himself, and makes the s15 conflict much more interesting just by existing. I love how goddamn uncomfortable Sam is this entire episode, I love Adam and Michael’s weird compelling dynamic, I love Dean’s awkwardness, and I love the four of them all together. I just want them to sit in a room and talk foreeeever.
6) 7.10 Death’s Door. I don’t even like Bobby that much, but even I have to admit that this is a great emotional episode. Sam and Dean deal with their grief, and it’s done well enough to make me grieve for Bobby too.
5) 2.09 Croatoan. Good episode is good. It’s a zombie episode with a real sense of fear and isolation—and then Sam gets infected. Dean’s violent refusal to kill Sam, the subsequent reveal that Sam is somehow immune, and then a demon revealing that this town died just for an experiment on Sam? Creepy and emotional and intriguing!
4) 4.10 Heaven and Hell. Demon and angel battle! Some very fun additions to what we know about the angels and their motivations: Anna’s commitment to fleeing and defying Heaven, coupled with what appears to be Ruby doing the same with Hell, is cool. I also love how Sam ends up successfully playing both sides off each other. Plus, it ends with Dean’s emotional reveal about his time in Hell.
3) 3.08 A Very Supernatural Christmas. Iconic. Three separate things to love: fantastic pre-series content, including amulet backstory and the reveal of little Sam finding out about monsters; a truly wonderful MOTW that involves Christmas tree stabbing and fingernail pulling; and the looming emotional juggernaut of  a final celebration before Dean’s deal comes due.
2) 5.10 Abandon All Hope. Crowley’s delightful introduction as a smarmy survivalist, Ellen and Jo’s tearjerking deaths, Cas captive and mouthing off to both Lucifer and Meg, Dean’s unsuccessful shot, and of course Sam and Lucifer’s first meeting in person. Action packed and spooky and thrilling and simply beautifully executed.
1) 11.09 O Brother Where Art Thou? In Hell, is where, and I couldn’t be happier!! Lucifer’s reintroduction coupled with Sam’s distress and brittle scared determination is atmospheric and terrifying. Rowena’s betrayal and Amara’s pitch to Dean are compelling. Most importantly, though, I had to wait a MONTH for 11.10 with Sam’s CRYING FACE in my head: best worst cliffhanger of the series by miles and miles. Bury me in this episode.

SaL anon here bestie and, well, THAT happened. And as much as the "it's what needed to happen" and "it's not forever" arguments may be true, it's a shitty note to end on before the hiatus when people really could have used a win this season (sorry, this will be a negativity rant). Between this and, with everything I find out about RNM me being inclined to watch S4 through Malex gif sets instead of live, my tv obsessions are bringing me down, but I have a song for this episode if your up for it?
So I was really hoping to get to this last night, and I'm SO glad I wasn't able to because today has had some...interesting developments. Plus an extra night of sleep and a little distance from the episode always helps! I'm sorry you're shows are letting you down! My brain has said "nothing but 911" so I'm way behind on any RNM news but I can't imagine it's anything good 🙄 so imma save that for another day.
I'm actually really excited for what is going to happen with Eddie in 5b (which I may change my tune when we start seeing the episodes, but for right now, it's exciting), because we have been literally begging for this man to address his trauma and now he's really getting that push he needs to start. The scenes with Eddie and Chris in this last episode were sooo good and the actors did a phenomenal job. It was such a gut-punch to hear Chris yell that his dad could be dead next year. Like, what a heavy burden for a kid to carry! But trying to remove himself from the situation and pretend like the danger doesn't exist I think is going to backfire on Eddie. Because Shannon died in an accident crossing the street. Chris and Buck nearly died in a natural disaster. Buck and Eddie were both injured as part of revenge plots that are not indicative of the normal perils of the job. The only time Eddie himself has had a really close call at work was the well incident, and possibly the house explosion. And in both those cases, he was saving kids. Specifically, young boys. Young boys who likely wouldn't be alive right now if it weren't for Eddie. This job is what he is meant to do, and I think when he's able to talk about allllll the trauma and start addressing it, he will be coming back and he will be better than ever before. And Eddie with a pep in his step looking 1000lbs lighter? Eddie who is no longer repressing everything and is ready to start making choices that make him happy because he's learned that he can't make his son happy if HE isn't happy as well? I can't WAIT to see him and I have a feeling Buck is only going to get more smitten.
Speaking of, as good as I think this is eventually going to be for Eddie, I am concerned about how bad this is going to be for Buck at first. However, Oliver Stark, my absolutely fucking beloved, really came through for us with those interviews. My main thing I'm most excited to hear, is that "fun Buck" will be back. 5a has been so heavy and while in previous seasons we always got some good firefam hijinks, the team is so fractured that even those aren't quite hitting like usual. And I think that, while Eddie is still working his way back to the 118, Maddie and Chim coming back is going to be a huge weight off Buck's shoulders. And if that "huge wrench" comment is anything to go by, Buck will also be losing the weight of an emotionally draining relationship where he can't open up or get the support he needs. I mean, it's not going to make suffering through it until it ends any more bearable, but it's nice to know Oliver has been suffering with us and also is ready to move on. Fingers crossed with more main plotlines going on, there won't be too much of a focus on bt (one of those instances I'm more than okay with "telling" and not "showing") and knowing the big conflict is in 5x11 already, just 2 episodes after Buck thought she was breaking up with him? With a more brief time jump in universe than usual for midseason? I for one, cannot wait.
I know it was a little disappointing because 911 is usually pretty good about heading into their hiatuses on a relatively high note and this was...not that. But at least they didn't tease us with not knowing if Eddie/Ryan would be back, and in fact made sure we went into the episode knowing Ryan was already filming for 5b! Hopefully I was able to ease your mind and negativity a tad (at least for 911. I don't even know what's going on with the woo wee woo show and at this point, I'm a little afraid to ask), and hopefully the low numbers and continual backlash will mean a quick exit for tay kay and Buck setting himself free.
I AM a little bummed we aren't going to get to have the hopeful January White talk yet (maybe next Christmas when Buddie get together? The episode is called Cold December Night and the Michael Buble song lyrics are utilized to their fullest potential. 911 writers room, you can use this idea, I wont' tell), but I would LOVE to hear whatever song you've got for me! Even a sad one, because I'm still riding high off all the Eddie "Huge Wrench" Diaz memes, so I'm prepared for whatever you've got for me! (Famous last words?)
