✦。— Watching as the darkened red seep into the whites of her coat, eyebrows furrowed at the lengths she dedicated herself to save every person on the field. Her devotion reminded him of the past him that was buried along with his parents, the him who tried to save everyone but ended up with no one by his side.

Lifting his gloved hand, digits combed through his hair as crimson irises came to meet determined fuchsia ones. Signs of exhaustion were present everywhere except for her gaze, they were shining with an unyielding purpose.

What she said loitered within his mind, the questions about his purpose made him ponder. What exactly was his purpose as a soldier, if not to protect? The answer was clear to him and yet, so muddy. For the past consumed him when he drew his weapon against those monsters, his eyes were clouded with judgement in that moment— with an emotion akin to anguish and regret.

Lips parted as a sigh of resignation erupted from him. Lashes fluttered shut, the man took a deep breath to reset his mind before red hues were visible once more. Muyang knelt down beside her, his focus shifted to the fallen guard that she was inspecting.
