What did Sagewhisker do? All I remember was that she was Yellowfang's mentor, and I used to love YS. (I was a lot younger at the time, though.)

oH Lord, a lot of people who read YS when they were younger kinda don't pick up on how shitty Sagewhisker is. It goes over their heads that she is the one who's actually responsible for Yellowfang being forced to be distant from Brokenkit

From a young age, Sagewhisker is pressuring Yellowpaw to be a medcat, when she doesn't want to

Yellow LIKES the satisfaction of healing itself, but LOVES being a warrior more.

She's a fantastic hunter, has always wanted a family, and is just genuinely filled with a lot of self-satisfaction when she gets to do her warrior duties.

(They also had to retcon the stupidest magic power, super-empathy, into Yellowfang so that she nonsensically wouldn't like fighting. Yellowfang. The cat whose first appearance in TPB is attacking Firepaw and didn't hesitate to blind Brokenstar. THAT Yellowfang.)

In contrast, when she starts healing, she's constantly filled with shame or horror. She also gets bullied viciously by several cats, while others do that Thing that an older family member does when they don't like what you're doing. You know;

"Ohhh that's so good, for you. If it makes you happy it's good!! I mean, but, wouldn't you rather do Other Thing? I mean no, I understand, you like This thing, but Other thing would... no no it's okay, nevermind. I'm happy for you."

This while she's already courting Raggedpelt, and planning a future with him.

So to begin with, she has a lot of negative feelings when Sagewhisker tries to pressure her into this role, especially as Sage insists she "Wants HER" and "It's your destiny." But that's not all;

When Cloudpaw (later Cloudpelt) gets viciously mauled and might not survive, Sagewhisker takes one look and says, "It might be kinder to let StarClan take him now."

Yellowfang is FURIOUS at how quickly Sagewhisker gave up, and Sage just waves this away with "oh I won't stop you but be prepared for heartbreak lol"

Sage continues to tell her shit like "You can't save every cat" after Cloudpaw's mother sees her son all cheese-grated up.

So... either Sagewhisker was going to just leave Cloudpaw there to bleed out or die of infection, OR she was implying euthanasia.

And it's probably euthanasia, because when Yellowfang is pregnant later, she says,

Sooooo... considering how WEIRD WC generally is about abortion, acting like it's not even an option and giving Clear Sky some Angel Fetus Children in DOTC...

Sagewhisker was probably implying that Yellowfang would smother infants. Or do whatever Sagewhisker was planning to do with Cloudpaw.

I don't even know if pressuring Yellowfang into an abortion would have been better... honestly this exchange is uncomfortable no matter how you slice it.

It gets worse ofc. Yellowfang gets this warning from StarClan about how “Only one thing can stop the tide of hatred this birth cursed cat will bring: the courage of a mother to know her destiny.” Silverflame also suggests just being his friend, if she can't be his mother.

Forget that though, because Sagewhisker continues to snap at Yellowfang and remind her that she can't look at him for too long, else people will get suspicious or something.

"It's a woman's responsibility to have children for our glorious war society, Yellowfang, unless they have A RARE GIFT THAT MUST NOT BE WASTED."

In the same conversation she's then like, "Also don't go into the nursery, the child I forced you to give up needs a chance to bond with the abusive foster who hates his little guts."

In general Sagewhisker also prevents Yellowfang from standing up for herself or her position in a way that is absolutely infuriating. Foxheart comes in and starts bellowing about "HOW DARE YOU HAVE APPRENTICES RUN ERRANDS FOR YOU?" and Sage is just like, "Turn the other cheek uwu"

Yellowfang is punished constantly for the sin of being Yellowfang. She is not allowed to be snarky at all. It fucking sucks. This book is MISERABLE

SO basically, Sagewhisker forces her into a role she isn't very happy in, stops her from standing up for herself ever, guilts Yellowfang over "wasting her special gift," gives up on cases that are too hard for her, suggests killing kits, says some wildly misogynistic stuff, prevents Yellowfang from doing anything about Brokenkit, and then dies.

She's the worst and no one ever talks about how fucked up this character is. and I really mean AS A CHARACTER

Because her PURPOSE in the story is to do all of these things and be hailed as a good mentor in the end. But the fandom is REALLY bad at analyzing characters as narrative tools.

She's right to pressure Yellowfang into her role, with the ending comic even trying to have Sagewhisker apologize for pressuring her and Yellow going "d'aww dwai you didn't force me into anything 8) ignore the entire fucking book before this point"

Giving up on a battered teenager is supposed to show Yellowfang's talent and resolve, not reflect poorly on Sagewhisker.

WC fully believes that "wisdom" she espouses about Lizardfang. Lizardfang is a bad woman because she doesn't accept her place as a queen. This kind of guilt and blame is reserved exclusively for mothers in WC, not fathers, note how Mudclaw doesn't help at all but no one gives a shit.

Killing the baby would have been the best option because, again, Brokenkit is BORN. EVIL.

I'm pretty convinced that "Courage of a mother to KNOW HER DESTINY" refers to the fact she is supposed to be a medcat, who kills her child. What FINALLY ends Brokenstar's reign of terror is being poisoned-- not the kindness she was finally able to show him in TPB while he was prisoner.

So Sagewhisker guilt-tripping Yellowfang into a position she doesn't like, keeping her away from her child, suggesting murdering the baby... that's all good, actually. That's something that is framed as correct.

And I think people really sleep on it. Sagewhisker is like this perfect little encapsulation of how shitty clan culture is in WC, an enforcer of the series' misogyny while being a woman herself, someone who makes Yellowfang's wife HELL.

But because she didn't do it violently, no one notices it.

This book is a really difficult read.

Day 14 of @digikaa 's RvBTober: Crossover!! I decided to slap our red bois in Paleo Pines! They're having Donut's Wine and Cheese hour <3 (also I know this is SUPER late but I had to wait so long to actually uploaded this)

And because I spent way longer then necessary thinking about this, here's some info on our bois and thier dinos!!

Grif has an Ankylosaurus named carrot, because she likes carrots and is orange (Simmons def argues with him about his lazy naming skills) Grif also has vitiligo! I'd imagine Grif probably comes from somewhere else that's not in Paleo Pines, but he'd probably like Dapplewood or the Valley

Simmons has a Coelophysis named Ruby! Ruby used to be Sarge's dino but Simmons basically had to take her cause she didn't like Sarge LOL (Simmons also DEFINITELY had a crisis over having his own dino to care for and grif had to convince him it would be FINE) Simmons also has a prosthetic eye! You can't see it much in the drawing cause of his glasses but it's red

Donut has a lovely Utahraptor named Princess! She is always pampered and has the prettiest and shiniest fathers you've ever seen! Donut is a farmer and likes to bake too, I'd imagine he's from the Valley

Sarge has the meanest and reddest Carnotarus you've ever laid your eyes on! And his name is Warthog! He strikes fear into the heart of his enemy's with a single look! (Warthog is the sweetest dino ever, he's always so gentle as to make sure no one gets hurt cause he's a big boi) Sarge is always making some wierd contraption that usually doesn't work, but when they do thier awesome! He mostly makes stuff to help with donuts farm, you probably shouldn't try any of his contraptions tho,,, it may explode

And last but not least, Lopez!! Lopez is a velociraptor who somehow also has a resting bitch face, seriously, how does Lopez always look bored or pissed off!? Anyhow, he (begrudgingly) helps sarge and donut with tasks, like farming or trying to prevent explosions

The team probably lives in Aricotta canyon as it's the most similar to blood gulch, but they always have Donuts wine and cheese hour in the Valley !

I may end up drawing this au again cause I ended up rly liking it teehee :]

Yesterday I asked for clarity that the one end gag from the original Animaniacs was the only mention of Yakko being lactose intolerant. The reason I asked is because I find it funny that we all saw that moment and said “alright! Yakko is lactose intolerant! He said it himself!” Because that isn’t actually what Yakko said. The exact quote is “I’m allergic to anything with lactose in it!” He isn’t lactose intolerant, he’s allergic to lactose—and yes, there is a difference.

The difference is that being intolerant to a food is a digestive issue, it’s your digestive system saying “um…idk what to do with this…good luck!” While allergies are immune issues, basically your immune system saying “THIS FOOD IS TRYING TO KILL US EVERYONE ATTACK!” Intolerances are usually mild, and allergies can range from mild to fatal.

And I really don’t think this was a case of the writers just saying “allergic” so kids would understand or anything like that. Being lactose intolerant is super common and I think most people, kids included, have a basic idea of what it means. Certainly, if I had to wager a guess, I’d say more people know what being “lactose intolerant” means than what being “hypoglycemic” means.

So if we are basing this entire diagnosis solely off of what Yakko said, it’s probably less likely that eating or drinking lactose makes him gassy and more likely that it gives him a rash or something. Hopefully it isn’t something like his throat swells up or anything like that but that’s also a very common symptom of a food allergy.

I’m not necessarily saying we all collectively change our interpretation of Yakko's medical issues or start writing him as having an allergy, I just find it funny that we all jumped on this bandwagon (myself included, which you’d think I’d know better, having food allergies myself lol) without actually thinking about what he was really saying.

One reason I find this funny/interesting is if he had instead said “I’m intolerant to peanuts” (which admittedly I’ve never heard of, but I’m sure it’s an issue for someone somewhere) we would have instead all had this idea that Yakko was deathly allergic to peanuts and required an epipen. Like we, understandably, associate the problems with the food, not the diagnosis. Someone has issues with lactose? They must be lactose intolerant because that’s what most people with lactose issues have. They have an issue with peanuts? They must have a peanut allergy because that’s what most people with issues with peanuts have. It makes sense that we came to the conclusion that we did, it’s just interesting to me.

The other reason I find this interpretation funny is because while the fandom, at least from what I’ve seen, seems to present Yakko’s symptoms as being more of an intolerance, it seems that the presentation of Yakko’s actions because of his lactose issues, line up more with that of an allergy. The best example of this I think is actually when it’s mentioned in the reboot in the “We Could Try to do it, Santa” song. In the song, Wakko sings “And Yakko can’t drink milk at all, the lactose makes him gassy!” In this line, Wakko describes Yakko’s symptoms as that he gets gas, which suggests that Yakko is in fact lactose intolerant. However, Wakko saying that Yakko can’t drink milk at all, to me, makes this sound more like an allergy. Look, I’m sure there are people out there who don’t ever eat lactose because they are lactose intolerant, but from what I’ve read online and witnessed from friends who are lactose intolerant…let me tell you, it doesn’t seem to prevent them from consuming foods with lactose AT ALL. One friend I’ve seen eat ice cream and another I’ve had tell me she wasn’t feeling good because she brought Mac and cheese for lunch. Lactose intolerance doesn’t seem to stop them from eating dairy at all, it only seems to influence how much they eat. Wakko saying that his brother “can’t drink milk at all” sounds like Yakko doesn’t risk it, and I just don’t buy that if Yakko was lactose intolerant that he would avoid consuming anything with lactose ever. I especially don’t buy this for rebooted-Yakko-“some of us are trying to lay in bed quietly, contemplating the brief nature of our existence”-Warner. If Yakko is lactose intolerant you know damn well he’d take a jug of ice cream and say “haha, YOLO!” And eat the whole thing in one sitting. However, if the issue was that it’s an allergy, I could see Yakko avoiding milk and such, just because allergies tend to be more severe. My friend might be willing to eat Mac and cheese for lunch and risk wanting to sit on the toilet all afternoon, but I am not willing to eat a pb&j for lunch and risk spending my afternoon in the ER. I’m not saying if Yakko is allergic to it he’d be needing an epipen and being rushed to the hospital after consuming (although you angst lovers I’m sure will have a field day with that and I respect this) because the issue could totally be something mild as well. Maybe he gets a rash, maybe his lips feel badly chapped, maybe his throat doesn’t swell up but it does feel itchy, etc. Who the heck knows.

Again I’m not saying we all course correct and make Yakko have a lactose allergy, do what you want with this information. I just had this epiphany yesterday and thought it was interesting.

H(a)unted - Weird, angsty little Ghost Hunter Danny AU. Separate Danny and Phantom. ALT ending. I have some ideas percolating to continue off the alternate ending. The Hazards of Being Hot High AF - Shippy Popular Psychology (Jazz/Dash) oneshot I found in my fics folder. Jazz visits Dash in the hospital after a football injury. Elementary, My Dear Fenton - Ecto-Implosion fic. A goofy comedy-mystery where Danny and the trio try to track down who left an anonymous gift in his locker. They get WAY too into it.

WIPs:

Not So Bitter Reunions - AU, canon divergence, badger cereal. The college reunion goes decidedly less off the rails than in canon, leading to some nefarious consequences. I'm just kind of vibing with this one. High School's a Beach - **AGIT SPOILERS** Dan's in high school. This one is so very unserious, but I think I've got a few more chapters left in me. Needs Must (When the Devil Drives) - Canon divergence. AU. Vlad and Harriet reconnect at the college reunion, but since Vlad's technically an evil spirit, he's adversely impacted by things like salt, windchimes, running water, etc. Bad News (Vlad/Harriet) shipfic. I just...I think they're neat. Bearer of Bad News - Post Phantom Planet (not AGIT compliant). Bad News fic because I have an illness and these two live in my head rent free. The GIW enlist Harriet's help in preventing Ghost King Danny from destroying the earth.

Drabbles/Ficlets:

DannyMay 2022 - I don't remember any of these being particularly good, but they do exist. I very much did not last the entire month. Drabble Dump from Tumblr asks - this is just what it sounds like. Though, in general, I'll probably start trying to post oneshots and/or collect the separate, individual Tumblr ask ficlets on this post now instead of just clumping them in a drabble dump on ao3. Monsters Don't Exist - horror vibes. AU. Vlad didn't peace out after the accident and he's keeping his enemies (Maddie and Jack) close. Jazz suspects their babysitter, Uncle Vlad, is more dangerous than everyone else in the family seems to think. Cheese Melt ficlet - Outsider POV. Dani has a parent-teacher interview. Cheese Melt ficlet #2 - Dani doesn't like the toy she got at Nasty Burger. Vlad gets her a new one. Badger cereal ficlet - No one knows AU. Danny works as a cashier and Vlad accidentally outs his supervillain indetity by infodumping to him when Danny makes idle customer-servicey smalltalk.

ok i’m about to go to bed but i’m like halfway thru the main stories of everyone and here’s my octopath 2 thoughts so far:

gameplay:

Hikari go brrrrrrr. this guy hits like a damn truck

also, i learned how concoct works finally and i am now a true concoct beliver. luv u castti <3

a lot of stuff was nerfed for some classes, some of it i like, some of it i miss

-no more 8stack reflect magic damage, RIP. cleric final ability is no longer a double cast but instead allows the target to take an extra turn after everyone else (i like this one, opens a lot of cool stuff you can do, but you also need to manage bp more if you wanna max your damage or casts instead of just getting double. cleric also now has an SP stealing staff move, reflect is replaced with a shielding move that prevents a % of damage based on boost, and also gains a physical and elemental buff. overall really good changes to the class.

scholar no longer has double hit spells. i kinda miss these, i really didn’t get much use out of the new skills scholar has, except for elemental barrage, which can be good for scouting weaknesses or big damage if solo targeting. but it means enemies with primarily magic based weaknesses are more annoying to break.

i think those two classes got the biggest overhauls. everything else of the 8 main classes seems to have its biggest tools intact (leghold, donate bp, etc) so i was pretty familiar with how to setup and beat bosses pretty efficiently. i do miss the generic multi hit wind and dark spells a lot tho….

otherwise, despite overall nerfs to some of the stronger more abusable strategies (i’m told runelord tressa equivalent is still in the game tho) latent power is balancing that out by being also busted as hell and fun to use. all of them are unique and a fun extra management tool that can make or break your turns. (poor castti tho, if you have enough money, hers is kind of irrelevant.)

ok anyways MINOR GAMEPLAY SPOILER TIME. THIS IS A SPOILER WARNING FOR MINOR PARTS OF CASTTI, HIKARI, PARTITIO, AND THRONE’S BOSS FIGHTS IN THEIR CHAPTERS.

SPOILERS START HERE:

ok. don’t really like how casttis chapter 4 boss has basically the same gimmick as alfyns, with max hp reducing poison. i think this fight is harder than alfyns by a little bit tho.

Hikaris final chapter is. super long. there’s 3 whole boss fights in the last chapter, so be ready for a lot of those in a row. i found the second boss harder than the third fight tho.. lol. it’s again also kinda similar to olberics ch4 so i already knew how to cheese it a bit, though it wasn’t as easy to set up on this guy.

partitios ch4 was piss easy, just did not hit very hard lol. and i don’t think the boss has that much health

throne ch4 was also pretty easy, but had a pretty cool unique mechanic. makes you play a bit different with it because of it, so you gotta get creative sometimes or compromise on your damage etc. good stuff even if it wasn’t too bad on me.

OK. THIS IS STORY SPOILER WARNING. IM GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS AT THE END OF THE 4 CHAPTERS I JUST MENTIONED, SO CONSIDER YOURSELF WARNED

SPOILERS NOW:

casttis story was ok. didn’t like it as much as alfyns in ot1 but it wasn’t terrible. i think i’m just usually not that big on amnesia plot lines. i like castti a lot in her travel banters tho, she’s actually pretty funny compared to how serious she always is in her story chapters.

hikari was pretty alright too. i think his evil demon blood is probably tied to galdera in some way, but they never actually explain where it comes from in his route and i was kinda waiting on it the whole time. kinda funny he becomes king and all, gets crowned, and then we’re off to go to partitios silly capitalism project with the new king of ku in tow.

partitio himself is probably my favorite traveler so far, but i think his story falls a little flat at the end. mostly because mr roque gets literally no comeuppance at the end despite literally ruining multiple towns worth’s of peoples lives by putting them in abject poverty and extorting them. partitio just goes i’ll hire you and we’re back to hunky-dory. kinda wish he didn’t accept defeat and suicided or was killed by his own creation or something more fitting, partitio never even confronts him for scamming his family and altering the contract. like come on man.

Throne. i don’t know how i feel about this one, the chapter 4 is. insane. you will never predict how the fuck her story wraps up, so i actually won’t even say even with the spoiler warning. just go fucking play the chapter 4 lol. i like the stuff in her chapter 3s with mother and father tho, even if it’s edgy and whatever. throne also has some fun travel dialogues, i like her well enough. it’s just that the chapter 4 is so bonkers i can’t decide how i feel about it and her lol. idk

looking forward to the other 4! i think all the stories are solid despite if it seems like im saying otherwise here, they’re definitely on par with the first game, which i think had quite a bit simpler plots lol. cant wait to get to the cross character chapters as well!

I actually have a few for this but this one's my favorite: i was like...24? and my mom was driving me to chicago to see my younger sister, because my car was not gonna make it there and back, and it was winter. for once (and luckily) there was a lot of snow on the ground. we're on the interstate just minding our own business, I'm eating panera mac and cheese in the passenger seat, when a semi on our left either merged too soon or wasn't paying attention, because their front end caught the back end of our car and next thing i know i'm getting mom-armed and we're on our way into the ditch at 70 mph. the snow prevented us from flipping, and once we stopped we were facing the opposite direction of where we were going, and - verbatim- events unfolded like this:

mom: are you okay?

me: i didn't spill my food!

creepy gps voice: you are still on the fastest route to [place]

and that's the story of the closest i ever came to dying.

Alright so I'm watching the anime The Way of the Househusband on Netflix and writing my thoughts as I watch. This might be a tad unhinged, but here we go. As always if you liked this content feel free to be me a coffee. Also, yes, I do know that there a multiple episodes in each episode but I'm going to number them by how they're contained and labeled through Netflix as that's how I'm watching it :)

Episode 5

A job outside of the house in a cafe interesting, beans =bullets, the latte art of a cat, aww doing it for extra cash to get his wife a present

He's so loud, Again the food in this series really does deserve its own analysis post, overtime is exhausting,

fire next door, talk about needing proper air ventilation. the cops probably wanted some food, oh its rare eh

I admit nothing, oh nice flowers, oh its not that much and then proceeds to unwrap a dessert feast, rain as a mood killer, they're such a good couple

why would you try hitting a watermelon blindfolded?, the volleyball smacking into them, I love how Miku can be high energy as well, a real man is willing to get wracked protecting his loving wife, her carrying him

Tatsu you're so dramatic ( this is true, he a very dramatic king), oh the housespouse meet up, family gopher, the differing interpretations of what he's describing, is that really what Miku is rally like?, listening in one the one side of the conversation, the support from the housewives is so good

urg the rap battle, so unnecessary, the explanation of what a rap battle is, the punch of silence, well ok

So...this is another prequel for my main event story for THAUC...@dimdiamond if you want to maybe read this lol

Characters: Thorin & Dís (implied past Thorin x Thranduil), Thranduil x Bard

Thorin rubbed a cold hand absent-mindedly over his stiff lips as the angry howling of the wind outside his window rose in a deafening crescendo.

The consistent summer rains – a regular occurrence out here – having overshadowed the last days had escalated into a full-blown thunderstorm, battering against the sturdy glass panes with a thousand furious hands that exploded upon impact with the unyielding shield.

Cheery laughter and desperate exhortations to save the game in progress drifted down the stairs and into his study like ghosts; he welcomed the distraction and smiled to himself.

The boys were evidently having fun, despite dreading that the power might be cut off and that their precious progress in whatever nonsensical game they were engrossed in these days might be lost, and it lightened his morose mood a tad.

It had been a night much like this one, he remembered, when he had stood facing a man he had never expected to lose.

“You have to make up your mind! Right in this moment, Thorin, or I’m going to walk!”

Even now, Thorin could remember the strangled quality of that melodic voice and the reflection of a flash of lightning illuminating those eerily pale eyes, awash with either tears or rain with perfect clarity; oh, how he had loved that creature, even in that very moment, his almost colourless hair plastered against the shapely skull like a helmet of finest silver and white gold, and yet, he had merely shrugged.

“I cannot wait for you anymore. I’m worth more than casual meetings in the rain.”

As he closed his eyes and let the roaring of the wind, ruthlessly whipping sheets of water into a frantic dance, take him back in time, Thorin could envision him standing there again – Thranduil the flawless – soaked to the bone and snarling with barely contained frustration.

He had been right. Thorin knew that and being keenly aware of how shamefully he had deserted the one he had sworn to cherish prevented this wound from ever really scabbing over.

“I should get home,” he had said tonelessly, feeling his words being torn from his very lips and carried away by the icy fingers of the storm, “the children will be nervous in this weather. Dís needs me.”

“So be it then,” Thranduil had replied, every promise of violence and spark of tenderness drowned in the relentless downpour, “you have chosen.”

Thorin had never really felt as if he had been given much choice – neither at that moment when his furtive lover turned his back on him for good nor now – when it came to how he lived his life.

Duty and honour had ever taken precedence over selfish needs and desultory desires; nothing had changed since that night, and it probably never would.

“They are going to drive me insane,” Dís groaned as she entered his study, two tumblers of whiskey and a plate of cold meats and cheese in her hands, “they’ve eaten four pizzas already and another three are in the oven.”

Thorin’s head snapped up as he emerged fitfully from the whirl of memories the falling rain had submerged him in until he could barely breathe.

His sister, of course, remembered that night as well and she saw the echoes of an old hurt flicker in Thorin’s eyes as the sky was cleft by a flash of lightning.

“You could still reach out,” she said softly, setting down one of the glasses beside his right hand and stroking his hair tenderly.

“It’s too late for that,” Thorin smiled wistfully as he looked up at those features that were so similar to his own, “this love was dead before the pavement was dry. The deluge came and washed it all away.”

He took a tentative sip.

“I don’t hurt about it often,” he then mused in a hollow voice, “he’s moved on after I’ve chosen you and the boys, and I truly hope he’s happy. As I said, I don’t think about it…except when it’s raining hard.”

Dís nodded – they all had their heartaches and silent regrets bound to heavy clouds and sunny days – and took a swig of her own drink; she sometimes wished that her brother had prioritised his own happiness, but she was also not naïve enough to ignore the fact that she and her sons would never have made it to the point they were at nowadays without Thorin’s indefatigable support and love.

“Why don’t you go up and watch them play a little?” Dís asked carefully, “They’d be glad to see your face – despite what they say, they still get skittish when the storm is at its worst – and there shall soon be pizza.”

“Which pizza?” Thorin seemed to perk up as he considered sitting in the boys’ room – a sanctuary he had built with his own two hands and in which he was still always a welcome even if rare visitor – and listening to them bully poor Ori into committing a fatal mistake in the game.

“Go up and bide your time, Thorin,” Dís chided with the severe and slightly impatient tone only mothers ever perfected, “and tell them to bring their laundry down.”

As Thorin stomped up the narrow stairs – already hearing the three youngsters screech and hoot – a smile crept onto his face; yes, he hoped that Thranduil was happy now because – for Thorin – there had never been an alternative to this: his sister, his nephews, and their friends.

It had been worth it, he told himself stubbornly, and it still was.

The beaming smiles that faltered as soon as the boys realised that he was not indeed Dís holding pizza made him chuckle out loud; this was where he belonged and that would have to suffice, even on rainy nights when his soul was aching for another kind of love that he, theoretically, had given up on a long time ago.

Thranduil was not happy.

His hands were white-knuckled and cold – gripping the iron railing of the small balcony overlooking the mooring area mercilessly – and his hair was whipped across his face by the shrieking winds.

He barely heeded the rain falling like ephemeral needles onto his bare arms as he screwed his eyes almost shut in hopes to make out that single boat finally coming home on the horizon; the weather had turned so quickly and Bard had been caught in the storm unexpectedly.

Thranduil was worried beyond what was reasonable; Bard was an accomplished professional and – no doubt – had seen worse storms than this before.

Of course, there was no way of getting through to him on the phone and so – like millions of wives of fishers and sailors since the beginning of time – Thranduil stood there like a statue and waited patiently while looking out fixedly on the wind-tossed waters.

He, as well, remembered that long ago night of tempest when his heart had been torn apart by Thorin’s refusal to take a risk like the night sky was cut by the white-hot blade of lightning; ever since that incident, thunderstorms held a bitter-sweet taste of loss for him.

Fear was creeping up his spine like ice-cold vines and he shook his head impatiently to dispel the urge to curl up on the slippery ceramic tiles and crumble under the weight of painful memories and unsurmountable dread.

It was a ridiculous notion, and he would have laughed at it being worded thus, but Thranduil was afraid of violent tempests; oh, it was not the darkness, the surprising flashes of blinding light, or even the eery voices roaring their displeasure in ever thunderclap, no, it was the ghosts that crept in through the pervasive shadow.

Memories – sweet and bitter alike – were dissolved in the looming clouds overhead and poured down his neck and into his heart like fragrant acid until his skin was crawling with that dull ache of reminiscence.

Bard would come back, he reminded himself, unlike Thorin, this sweet, reliable, tender sea captain would return to him – unharmed and smiling – at the end of the day.

And yet…

The ambient chaos seemed to whisper of abandonment and loneliness and the rain streaming down his stubborn, stony expression tasted of salt and regret.

Thranduil shivered, finally letting go of the railing to hug himself, veiled in the relentless cascade of water and shrouded in darkness streaked with pure light.

At long last – after what felt like endless hours – a small vessel pushed through the black-on-grey background and, not bothering to put on a coat or shoes, Thranduil hurried out and onto the mooring deck, slithering and slipping as his bare feet slapped against the slick wood.

“My sweetling,” Bard exclaimed, pulling off his sealskin coat and wrapping it around Thranduil’s trembling form, “what are you doing out here?”

“I…” The other’s teeth clacked so violently with shudders running through him like pulses of pure electricity that he could barely speak, “I was worried about you.”

“It’s less bad out there,” Bard immediately assuaged the wild, feral fear in those beautiful, pale eyes he so loved, “let’s get you inside! I’ll make you a hot chocolate and we can talk about it. I’m here, we’re both fine, let’s go!”

As he was led back into the house, Thranduil smiled weakly; sometimes, he thought dazedly, the storm gave back what it had taken against all odds and despite his bleak despair.

So, that was another small sneak peek on the upcoming event story :D

3. What inspired you to make your OC?

I'm gonna be so totally honest I just felt that. I was missing themes of mystery in my stories and that was weird bc I am in love with mystery. And obvs I first approached Archie's character as "ooohhhh OOOOHHHHHH no one remembers ooohhhhhhhhh weirdcore traumacore bbrrrrr!!!" Which was my cringiest era ever. But now he has a personality and mystery as intended lolz

7. Do they have a motivation for wanting any of the timepieces? How would they find one? What would they do with it?

Depends on when his story and AHiT's overlap. If timepieces happened after his death but before Otto's birth, he'd definitely use them to yknow. Not die. If ghosts can even touch timepieces. But if timepieces happened currently with Otto being 13, Archie's motive would have to maybe be preventing the bunches of stuff that happened to Otto. But it's a very small motive, because he's happy the way things are, even if he's a ghost. He has his bestie Otto yknow. And preventing what happened is really Otto's choice yknow.

11. What are some of your OCs favorite things? (For example, favorite food, drink, type of music, color, things they collect, ect. anything that they are fond of)

Hmmm ok. He has big interests in water and space, though in some timeline water is a weird topic for him. He likes to go exploring by himself and he's always trying to find little hidden hangout spots for himself. He likes collecting rocks, plushies, various little knickknacks. He likes blues, purples, and greens, and his favorite foods are mostly low-maintenance kid foods, like mac n cheese and whatever the bird equivalent of chicken nuggets are.

12. Do they have a very distinctive manner of speech or other way of communicating? (like telepathy, sign language, making small noises, ect.) Do you have an idea of what they might sound like? (For example: an accent, certain common phrases they're likely to say, vocal tics, quirks or habits, ect? Voice claims even!)

OH OK. As a ghost I think he can occasionally have his voice only be heard in someone's head, but he never has any reason to do that, bc the one person he talks to can see n hear him just fine. Archie probably knows some bits of sign language- bc yknow, Otto is mute and frequently uses it. And I might just be projecting here but he occasionally makes little noises when doing anything bc he cannot handle performing any action in complete silence. As for voice claims uhh. It's weird bc obviously he'd be at least a little scottish as a Forbush, but for now let's just say he sounds like Darwin from TAWOG.

19. If your OC was on the Arctic Cruise, what would they likely be found doing? What would they say to Hat Kid/Bow Kid upon interacting with them?

I'm just gonna assume this is in the instance that he's. Alive. He'd definitely be on there just bc Conductor brought him along, so he'd be found by the pool area, just a little astray from where Cond is drinking. I'd imagine bc he's some Little Guy he has different lines depending on when he's interacted with- but he most definitely has a line about the pool and swimming. If there was a task with him for Ship Shape it's probably in the same essence of the grandkids- make sure he stays where he can't get in trouble or in danger, bc he's very hyperactive and he Will Not stay in one place.

Yes and he's always threatening our son this guy is a piece of garbage and we're going through his stuff today and we found all sorts of threats on our son in the form of stuff he's holding and it's meant for us and we know about it and we count them but there's way too much people are going to start going after his antiquities now and his people to see if they have ships and if the antiquities are protecting the ships and our son is going to get his stuff back and we're working on it and beating him to death and is coming out of him there's a whole slew of movies happening it's the precursor for Cool hand Luke and he just does not get killed enough people say it too that's going to get rid of the idiots here I did such a small percentage of the population but they're all over the West Coast and just sit there so my son says if they're out there messing with you you have to come in and prevent them from doing it and Counter-Strike that kind of thing as a suggestion on the trumpsters and they looked at and said it's a good idea it won't prevent it but it's going to pull him the hell out of here I will get stuff real stuff and they need it so they're starting this programs now right now they're offshore and they're at the 50 to 100 believe it or not they're 50% done. And that is a lot more than we anticipated you don't think they're going to drop the bottom out on him if they are we're going to do this with special teams and he says we should insert special teams to figure out if there are any hard spots or opposition and we're going to go ahead and do that and continuously everywhere and we noticing something it's a good idea and we have to have more special teams as a result and we should form them up and we should also form up alpha flight and the X-Men avengers and the Justice League legion of Doom our version on all of it should start getting formed up and to drag them out and we have that and we do know what you're saying we give these groups going out here and we need it and say we will rule the day and they said no we said rue and roo who LOL and they're a bunch of junk and they're saying all sorts of stupid things that are meaningless. And we're going to go ahead and do that too right now they're gearing up and increasing speed on the mining it took them about 3 hours to do half I think 2 hours to do the other half and it'll be 50 they'll be at the 100 to 150 and that will take probably late into the night maybe early morning and they will shift gears because they have to they'll start mining on the land and they're going to be starting to pull ships right now they're at 25% pulling the ships they said they will increase it to 25% and use it as protectionary forces. They have started to fight Tommy f is kind of mild it's in five areas in Florida and he's unable to do anything there's two ships over Florida he says 100 and they've been here forever sucking air out of here and they blow so bad this guy's a cheese dog the sits out there and does nothing cuz he has this here and he says he should probably pull out so he does something. There's other things happening but that's a lot of diamonds real quick the processing them too and upgrading their ships and putting them in some new ones.

imo the best thing about cheese is that theoretically, people who like cheese can have it, because it exists. you know? if cheese disappeared from the face of the earth tomorrow, i wouldn’t miss it. but a lot of other people would, and these people feel very strongly about cheese, in my experience. so i’m sure there would be a lot of despair all around me about something i feel indifferent toward, and THAT would be very annoying. imagine all the sad cheese people, being aggressively sad about cheese all the time. for my own sake i’m glad that’s not happening, and it is cheese that’s doing that for me. so props to it for that i guess.

class 1-a hcs based on science and shit: part 1

u cant tell me any of these characters smell completely normal. or good in a way u can make candles out of them. this is my hc list and i am RUNNING with it. @emogaeness this 1's for u, my dude

Aoyama: one of the only 'normal' smelling ones. he defs uses french parfum but also he probably smells like heated metal and cheese all the time. Energy doesnt really have a smell til it interacts with gas so i think he probably just smells like however he wants to.

Mina: IM SORRY TO SAY BUT MISS MAAM IS STINKY AS HECK. mina is an acid producer and therefore smells acidic--and going by what we know of acid, she smells PUNGENT. dairy-like but also sour. BUT her body is probably evolved to be antacidic and she's a gymnast. after reading like, 2 research papers, gymansts chalk (magnesium carbonate) neutralizes acids (caus its 10.5 ph) and so i think while she does kinda smell, it wouldnt be AS bad even if she's training. its possible for her to wear perfume if she wanted, since usually they're around the 7 pH range.

Tsuyu: Oh. wet grass. and just. damp. she probably smells like marshlands or just nature in general, because thats part of camouflage. she probably also has an underlying sweet scent from venom? idk. on the normal she'd probably just smell neutral if a little musty.

Iida: ok i had to wiki this but i dont think he smells like much? he faintly smells like exhaust--but when he overuses his quirk and inevitably combusts whatever engines he uses, the chemical reaction creates sulfur which would make him smell like rotten eggs. otherwise he smells like orange juice (his choice of 'fuel'), sweat, and cologne.

Uraraka: I think she just smells like mochi lol. gravity doesnt really alter her body so i think ochako's normal--if a bit sweet bc she generally seems to like sweet stuff in canon

Ojiro: OK HES JUST GOT A WEIRD LUMP OF FLESH ON HIS BACK FOR A TAIL THO LIKE?? IDK HE SMELLS NORMAL?? maybe a bit like spray-on shampoo and deodorant, but that's it. does a third limb of pure muscle smell like anything? no? godspeed, mashirao, godspeed.

Kaminari: he smells like ozone. He's probably crazy static since he generates the electricity inside of him constantly and is canonically a terrific electricity conduit, so unlike aoyama he'd definitely smell like frying electricity. also. (minor manga spoilers) he bathes enough to be able to call midoriya stinky, so he definitely has basic hygiene. other than that i think he smells like sweaty leather bc of his hero costume and candy.

Kirishima: not quirk related but he probably just smells like sweat. and like, meat. maybe dirt. i love this boy but i'm also a sheeple bc i believe in the hc that he smells like axe body spray. and really good conditioner bc of how fucked up his hair would be by now if he wasn't taking very good care of it.

Kouda: smells like animals. like. bunnies and hamsters and birds and stuff. its not bad per se, but he definitely smells like he's constantly hanging out with the city's local rodent and avian population. other than that he probably just smells neutral/like nothing, since that's more approachable to the prey animals that he seems to favor.

Satou: baked goods and candy.

Shouji: I think Shouji is probably the most hygiene-conscious of all the kids in 1-A. Because of the amount of open/accessible body parts like eyes, nose, ears on his limbs--he probably takes very good care in showering and all that stuff to prevent random infections or just generally damaging any of his senses. Dude's chill--smells like mild soap and laundry detergent.

Jirou: Ah, not gonna lie she probably smells a bit like burnt electrical wires. She's a bit like Kaminari in terms of smell, except her's have that more 'metallic' and burning sharpness whenever she uses the stunning part of her quirk. Other than that... probably also leather because of her hero costume, or just like the inside of an instrument shop (wood, ivory, brass, etc.)

Sero: Packaging type. you know when you pull like, a large strip of tape and--? yeah? that. smells like tack. other than that, excellent hygiene! bergamot and pine or whatever.

Tokoyami: he smells like bird, but only faintly. dude mostly smells a little musty caus he probably never airs out his room. Dark shadow is described like "dark energy" which, similar to aoyama, kaminari, and jirou, probably makes the air around him smell different bc thats gas interacting with energy. Aside from that, he most likely smells neutral. (... maybe with a bit of leather and metal because thats just how his fashion probably works)

Todoroki: Sweat, but not like, a lot. He definitely doesn't smell bad after battles because steam kills bacteria like, fairly effectively, and would eliminate most foul odors. I think he'd smell like Expensive herbal soap or whatever most of the time. He doesn't seem like the type to be unhygienic.

Hagakure: ????? fuck dude she probably tries her best to smell like nothing, caus if her whole schtick is being invisible then its probably best if she just smelt like nothing. imagine being a villain and then promptly getting kicked in the nuts by a gust of wind that smells like strawberry peach.

Mineta: i cant explain it but just... warm grape juice. his... orbs. have oily/sticky like substances to act as adhesive and ill be damned before u tell me he doesn't smell like anything even remotely artificial-grape-flavoring adjacent. he also smells of like,, axe body spray but stronger.

Yaoyorozu: herbal tea on a normal day. most likely the digestive kind just because i think thats the most practical tea to have with a quirk like hers thats reliant on eating large quantities of food. other than that, i think she smells like basic weaponry-grade materials like iron, polished wood, copper, and gunpowder.

Bakugou: stinky boy. canonically, his hygiene's great but that's likely for a reason. he sweats a lot and excessively, and while his sweat is described as 'nitroglycerine-like' it doesn't mean it smells like caramel. the common description for nitroglycerine according to the brittanica encyclopedia is that it's toxic and has a 'sweet, burning taste'. the sweet scent is described as sharp at best--so while its totally okay if you wanna think of his sweat as caramel-like, i just wanted to clear up the misconception that thats what it factually is. ASSUMING his sweat still has a similar molecular makeup to nitroglycerine and has nitric dioxide, it would smell sickly sweet, if slightly neutral due to the nature of sweat itself being odorless when clean. other than that? bkg is definitely just a smelly, smelly boy. smells like sun and smoke and teenage body odor and burnt plastic.

Midoriya: SMELLY STINKY. deku sweats like, a lot. not only does ofa expend a ridiculous amount of energy and probably strains his muscles like crazy (forcing him to expel all that lactic acid in the form of sweat), but he also spends a lot of time just outside in general. science slightly aside, deku smells a lot like grass and dirt and just,,, the outdoors in general. he, like kaminari, smells very strongly of ozone (clean, chlorine-like) because of the sheer amount of energy output OfA has. Not expounding past the manga, Black Whip is described as a quirk that produces tendrils of pure black energy. This probably creates the same effect/smell as an area struck by lightning.

binge as in emotional eating? no, i dont, luckily.

they dont know but even if they did, i dont think they'd have a problem with it or prevent me from working out and losing weight. but when it comes to eating less, they, especially my mom, will definitely not leave me alone.

unfortunately, i dont workout regularly. i only do it when i feel like i overate, but then also only a little, light workout from youtube.

yeah, many times by nearly everyone. especially my sister as she has an eating disorder along with anger-issues. she always used to attack me for my weight when i was a (chubby) kid (keep in mind she is 12yrs elder than me).

my own blog which got deleted a few days ago lol. it was my fav thinspo blog obviously cause i reblogged everything that i liked the most.

12. what do i normally eat?

i eat whatever i want as long as its below my calorie limit. that includes fast food, anything my mom cooks, proteins, etc

13. am i losing weight in a healthy or an unhealthy way?

healthy i believe. i mean, i allow myself to go up to 1100 calories a day, sometimes even 1200. i dont starve because i know that it has no benefit whatsoever.

14. whats my ugw and when do i expect to reach it?

my ugw is 42kg, thats a total weightloss of 8kg. i wish to lose it by march, basically in about 2⅔ months.

15. am i a vegan/vegetarian and would i consider becoming one?

no, not for weightloss purposes nor moral reasons. meat and milk products contain a lot of vitamins which i wouldnt want to give up!

16. when did i first decided to lose weight?

when i was 12. and i did lose weight succesfully (from 53kg to 46-47kg)

luckily i dont.

easy, cheese cake... i could eat a whole cake on my own.

today, actually. i only ate sweets today.

european sizes: my pants are 36 and my clothes also 36 i believe, not sure.

my lowest was about 47kg 3yrs ago. i gained due to puberty/growth and food, obviously.

i dont think so, atleast not consciously. i barely know any celebrities and all the women i see on the internet are thicc.

24. how do i feel about the term "proana/mia"?

"pro" is definitely disturbing to me. its like saying "pro suicide".

nope.

26. what excites me most about reaching my ugw?

wearing smaller sized clothes, having sticky legs that dont touch, constantly looking delicate, being treated more nicely, being taken care of, no insults on my weight by anyone ever again, jealous looks of other girls, not feeling ashamed to undress in front of somebody else, not being scared to get intimate with somebody, etc etc...

27. how do i deal with being around food?

when im really hungry or have high appetite, i'll probably eat some of it. if i dont, i just ignore the food.

28. do i want a thigh gap and why?

i do, because i find it aesthetically pleasing.

29. my definition of beauty?

a kind, honest, polite and respectful nature.

@tolkien-fantasy dared me to write a self-indulgent piece with one of my favorite characters. So here it is!

@little-miss-raven you’re mentioned in this- I feel like you can confirm that I am indeed a pain in the arse

I’m fairly short compared to Boromir, roughly 5’5. So I just barely brush above his shoulders. I can see him tossing me over his shoulder whenever I start being difficult or just as a playful thing! Spinning around in circles, the two of us just laughing as we get dizzy.

Also best cuddles ever oml, being the little spoon with someone much taller is actually the best feeling ever. I love the whole idea of characters moving to lie straight on top whenever reader(me) try to get up and prevent them from leaving.

I love anything and everything that has to do with being active- except actual real workouts. I love to hike, longboard, horseback ride, swim despite not really knowing how, etc So I feel like Boromir would really like an active s/o. Especially since it’s a great stress reliever after long days of work. I’d see him stressed over some paperwork, and we all know that despite needing to get paperwork done. You can’t do it if you’re stressed to the point pulling your hair.

So What I would do is make some tea for him to drink while packing a small bag of cheeses and breads. Then lead him to the stables so we can go horseback riding and race each other. Just to laugh and be able to relax a bit.

One thing I also love is nighttime “road trips” aka going around town, getting food and exploring. So I would 100% wake him up at 2am (as long as he doesn’t have work that morning lol) to pack a small bag of food and just explore the city while it’s barren and quiet. Find new secret alleyways, maybe even climb up to the highest peak to have breakfast while watching the sunrise. (And do the stereotypical “it’s so beautiful” “yeah she is” and look over and he’s looking atmeandohmygodimsimping)

I’m a really shy person, but once I’m comfortable with someone, there’s no shutting me up. I’ll ramble about random things. Sing (terribly) made up songs about what I’m doing or sing to curse out the table I stubbed my toe on. Boromir would definitely get a kick out of that (heh- heh get it- stubbed toe- and he gets a kick out of it) and cackle before asking if I was okay. He’d also totally join in occasionally, and teasingly ask “so What’s today’s song?” And laugh when I glare at him.

Heaven forbid he comes home injured. I would be silently panicking while stitching/bandaging him up. Quietly asking if he’s okay, and to take it easy for the next few days until he’s healed. Press little kisses to the injured areas.

BUT despite how motherly I be about his well-being. I don’t ever notice or care for mine. In the beginning of the relationship he’d probably panic whenever I randomly go “oh hey where did that cut come from” but after a while- he’ll just deadpan stare like “Hannah no.”

Oh god- me being sick LMAO no matter how sick I am, I pretend im not sick and continue doing my normal routine stuff- sometimes don’t even take medicine cause “meh- im fine. Give it 5 days”

Boromir: What do you think you’re doing?

Hannah: (confused) uhh I’m going to the stables? Raven invited me to go horseback riding

Boromir: (arms crossed) while sick?

Hannah: yes ? I mean I feel fine

Boromir: Hannah- no- you were just throwing up like an hour ago, get back to bed

Hannah: why though ? I literally feel fine, I’m just a bit achy and throw-uppy. Not that big of a deal

This will continue for days
