04/11/2023 (Scarlet Dream/Scarlet Memory)
Poem by: Queennie (sadfragilegirl)
Tumblr media
I was supposed to be sleeping but I have other plans.
I was scrolling to look something when I saw something...
Something that it began to stop moving that the clock has stopped ticking.
That's when my heart stopped...as I saw a new memory.
A new memory that it could cut deep into my heart.
And it's no other than....
...The one that gave me happiness and brought me to a safe haven for all these years that held me so dear.
That's when...
The skies are began to turn into bloody red.
Trapped myself to a world full of nightmares full of dread.
Like I was being a tied up by red threads while I stand up myself and do nothing but seeing my happiness are taken away.
Tears suddenly began to fall.
Heart's pounding with anxiety like there's no tomorrow.
The scenes are turning red--scarlet red that is.
Memories between me and my happiness that held me so dear are flashing my mind.
And that's when...
I let myself to break myself in tears as my heart has began to shatter like glass.
Yes, my imaginary horror has finally come to life.
And that's how...
How I named this dream...
The dream about my happiness that held me so dear has fallen apart.
I call it...
A Scarlet Dream/Scarlet Memory.
No one is safe for me.
Behind The Poetry:
This is based on my real life experience after I heard the news about Ravi's departure from the Kpop boy group VIXX due to Military Service Issue Scandal last April 11, 2023. And that caused me such broken hearted reactions.
Among the news of Kpop members decided to leave group I saw for all these years as a Kpop fan with Autism for all these long years, that one took a toll on me and I was feeling affected big time.
Because why? Among my Kpop ultimate biases that I love, Ravi is the Kpop ultimate bias that held me so dearly into my heart and it brought me a deeper connection to him. Originally, last 2017...Ravi was my bias wreaker of VIXX but thanks to his R.EB1RTH mixtape and knowing that he produced, composed and wrote lyrics in most VIXX songs, I became his ultimate bias of VIXX.
When I listened to VIXX songs and Ravi songs, it made me imagine myself about being the main character in every Anime. He brought me such inspiration.
When he decided to leave VIXX because of his scandal, I was so devastated, just like Hongbin leaving VIXX due to the scandal last 2020 of August. Leaving me heartbroken.
Few months ago, I saw EXO-Ls were hating Ravi because of Kai's absense of Cream Soda MV and I was so angry. And there's STARLIGHTs (VIXX fans) are decided to continue supporting them without Ravi and Hongbin.
Thus, the news about Ravi's departure from the group VIXX has now given to a special name that I come with few months ago. That the unique name will be named as the only one to be only to be called that no one else will be named it in the bad new memories in the future.
And that's Scarlet Dream/Scarlet Memory.
Remember: Ravi's departure from VIXX is the only dream and memory that I can be ONLY be named as a Scarlet Dream/Scarlet Memory and no one else will be named such as that when another heartbreaking and sad Kpop news will be having in the future.

Pairing: Ravi x Reader (G) Prompt: Frankenstein’s Monster Word Count: 2.2K
~Admin V
An uppity woman holding her purse closely to her body approached you at the order counter. “There is a homeless man in your establishment. If you wish to keep your customers, I suggest you get rid of him.” She “hmph”ed and walked out the door.
It amazed you how “religious” people didn’t actually care about others as their religion stated they should. You looked to the man in question. His clothes looked a little worn and his hood was up, but you wouldn’t consider him homeless.
You walked up to him. He was looking down, scribbling in an ancient looking journal.
             “Hey, there,” you smiled.
Startled, the man jumped and quickly shut his journal. He looked up at you, causing you to gasp.
Those were some contacts he was wearing. His pupils were X-shaped and he had no iris.
“Sorry,” you breathed. “I just wanted to check on you.”
“Why?” His voice was deep and quite surprising to you.
“Uh, well I wanted to see if everything was to your liking, but now I’m seeing you haven’t actually ordered anything.”
He looked down. “I don’t have money. I will leave,” he started to get up.
             “No!”
He looked up at you again.
“I mean, you don’t have to leave. Are you thirsty? Or hungry? I could get you something? My treat.”
He looked confused as he brushed his midnight black bangs from his face. “Your treat?”
“Yeah, like I would pay for it.”
His mouth dropped. “You would do that?”
“I mean, sure. A tea bag and muffin won’t exactly break the bank for me,” you smiled again.
He looked shocked, but didn’t say anything.
             “Is that okay with you?”
             He slowly nodded his head.
“Great! Why don’t you come up to the counter to pick out a tea and muffin and I will bring everything to you when it’s ready.”
“Why don’t you just pick for me?”
“Uh, sure if that’s what you want.”
He nodded again and went back to his journal.
You walked back to the counter and pulled out a banana nut muffin and started preparing Indian chai tea.
When you brought them to him, his eyes widened. You introduced yourself and told him if he needed anything else he could call you over.
He still looked shocked and looked from you back to the small meal. He said nothing and stared.
“Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t ask. Are you allergic to nuts? I can get you a different muffin.”
He grabbed the plate and pulled it protectively closer to himself. “I want this one.”
“Oh.” You weren’t sure how else to respond. You were about to walk back to the counter, but he finally spoke.
“I’m sorry. I’m not used to people speaking to me. And when they do, they’re never as kind as you.”
You gave a sympathetic smile. “That’s awful. I’m sorry the human race doesn’t actually know decency.”
             He gave another shocked expression.
Curious. “Well, you enjoy, I should really get back and help my coworker with orders.”
He nodded and you returned to working.
The next day, you saw the man walk in during your shift. “Back again!” you beamed.
             He gave a small nod.
He looked different to you today. His skin seemed healthier, not so pale. And his eyes; the Xs seemed less prominent, more rounded. Was it a set of contacts? “What can I get for you today?”
He looked down for a moment, the handed you a yellowed piece of paper.
           “What’s this?”
           “Payment for yesterday.”
           “You don’t need to . . .”
           “I wanted to.”
You looked at the paper. There was a hand written poem. “You wrote this?”
He nodded once, his gaze still to the floor.
You read over the lines. “Wow. This is beautiful.”
When you looked up he was looking at you. His face seemed warmer. Happier maybe.
           “Thank you.”
He nodded again and turned to leave.
           “Wait!”
           He looked to you.
           “I never got your name.”
           “My name?”
           “Yeah. What’s your name.”
He opened his mouth then closed it.
Didn’t he know his name? Maybe it was part of his shyness. “Would you like me to try to guess it?”
           “O-okay.”
“Hmm,” you playfully tapped on your chin. “Ken?”
           He scrunched his face together.
“So not Ken.” You pretended to look him over. “You don’t look like a Leo.” He seemed nervous. You remembered he said not many people were kind to him. Maybe they teased him and called him horrible names. Maybe he had an unusual name, like after a god.
“You’re not cruel enough to be Zeus. That would mean not Seth either.”
His nervousness changed. He seemed excited to see what name would come from you next. His energy felt warm. Welcoming. Like basking in sunlight.
           “That’s it! I’ve got it.”
           “You do?”
“I do. Your name is Ravi.”
He didn’t deny or confirm your exclamation, but you could see the cogs turning in his head. Then a smile, an actual smile appeared on his face.
           “Yes. Ravi.”
As soon as he said it, something strange started happening to him. Suddenly he seemed to stand straighter. His skin took on an even healthier glow. And his eyes . . . the X shape was almost gone.
           “What the . . .”
Before you could finish your question, Ravi covered his head with his hoodie and sped to the door.
An hour or so after, a female customer came in. You greeted her with the typical company spiel. When you asked for her order, the smile she gave you sent goosebumps down your arms.
“Actually, I was wondering if you could help me with a different matter. I’m looking for someone.”
           “Oh, meeting them for lunch?”
           She pursed her lips.
“Well, not exactly. We’re old . . . friends. I’m visiting town and wanted to catch up with him. I heard he liked to hang out in this area.”
           “What’s his name?”
She smiled wider, but it held no joy. “His name,” she murmured.
Your coworker, Hyuk, stood next to you at the counter. “What does he look like?”
She quirked an eyebrow. “He’s wonderfully tall. Black hair. He might wear a lot of sunglasses.”
The woman was describing Ravi. But something about her screamed “don’t trust her.”
You were about to quickly say no, but Hyuk beat you to it by laughing.
Both you and the woman stared at him.
“You mean Neo?” He laughed more. “Sorry, ma’am. No one from the Matrix has been in here.”
Bless the little idiot for completely missing it.
The woman glared at him then glared at you. She slapped a display so it fell then walked out.
“Jeaz, she didn’t need to be so touchy.” Hyuk went to fix the display.
Abruptly, you were very worried for Ravi.
When your shift was over, you left through the back entrance. Ravi was sitting at a picnic table next to the dumpster.
           “Ravi?”
He quickly got up and came to you.
“I wanted to apologize for my behavior earlier, you see . . .”
           “Ravi, you can’t be here.”
He looked down. He thought you were rejecting him.
You spoke swiftly. “A woman came in after you left. She was looking for you.”
His eyes were on yours, and you saw fear in them. “A woman?”
You nodded and gave her description to him.
           “You’re right, I can’t be here.”
You grabbed his wrist. “My coworker may have thrown her off. Where will you go?”
He shook his head. His gaze was back to the ground. “I’m not sure.”
“Let me take you to my place. I have a futon you can sleep on. At least until we can figure out what’s going on.”
           “I know what’s going on.”
“But you don’t have a plan.”
“Why would you trust me to let me stay at your place? You don’t know me. I could be a bad guy.”
“Are you a bad guy, Ravi?” You looked him in the eye.
He stared for a long moment, then shook his head. “No, I am not.”
You let go of his wrist and held out your hand to him. “Will you trust me and come back to my place with me?”
The strange thing was happening to him again. His skin took on a richer color. His eyes were completely round now.
He took your hand and nodded.
Once at your place, Ravi wasn’t comfortable enough to leave the doorway. Like a cat in a new home, you just left him to his own devices. After changing out of your work clothes, you prepared a cup of tea and handed it to him, and placed a plate of cookies on your coffee table.
You tried to give him an encouraging smile. “Do you want to tell me about what’s happening?”
He shook his head. “I don’t think you’d believe me.”
“What if I promise to try to be accepting of whatever you tell me?”
His eyes were on his feet. “Then I’d only scare you and you’d banish me from your house.” He mumbled something else under his breath. You couldn’t be sure, but you thought it was “like everyone else.”
“What if I promise not to be scared?”
The same humorless grin the woman had earlier appeared on his face. “You cannot promise not to fear something which you don’t even know.”
“You can’t keep giving me obscurities if you’re looking to build trust.”
He sighed. He mumbled a few other things to himself then walked to your seating area. He sat opposite of you and placed his mug down as well.
           “You won’t believe me.”
           “I guess we’ll find out.”
He stared at you for a long moment. He sighed once more. “I’m a voodoo doll.”
           You only stared at him.
“The woman who was asking about me, is probably the woman who created me.”
           “So she’s your mother?”
He scrunched his face like when you suggested names earlier. “I mean, in the sense that she gave me life, sure. But not really, no. We were lovers.”
“But you didn’t want to be her lover anymore?”
“This might go faster if you stop interrupting with questions.”
You made a motion to zip your lips.
“She created me to be a lover, but I didn’t turn out the way she wanted, or I guess expected. I was ugly, repulsive. She kept trying to do things to improve my appearance.” He lifted his hoodie sleeve and revealed rocks of gemstone embedded in his arm; in his skin. “But eventually she decided it would be best just to destroy me. Kill me. So I ran away.
“I’ve been on the run for months. Unfortunately, she was right and almost everyone who saw me had the same reaction as her. But then I saw you one day. You were on your way to work and a stray dog started following you. You tried to pet it but it kept shying away. You went into the café then came back out with some food and left it for the dog. It’s why I went in that day.”
           “May I ask a question?”
He gave a nod of approval.
           “What’s the journal you carry?”
“I’ve been trying to learn the language of the people who are in all the places I go. One night I wound up at a poetry reading. It made me want to write such beautiful things as well. If I’m doomed to be revolting, I at least want to leave something lovely in this world.”
           “You’re not revolting, Ravi.”
“You’re the only one who thinks so.”
You didn’t know what to say, so just gave a small grin.
Ravi’s face went through an array of emotions before he spoke again. “But something strange is happening. I’m different. I’m changing.”
           “I’ve noticed.”
           “But I don’t know why.”
           You chuckled then.
           He looked at you inquisitively.
“It’s kindness. I gave you food yesterday, today you looked healthy. I gave you a name and you stood straighter, your eyes became more human. When I asked you to trust me, there was a warm energy emanating from you. You’re being treated like a human, not a doll, and so you’re becoming one.”
He looked at you with awe. “You might be right. You’re not scared right now?”
“I’m definitely feeling like I just boarded the crazy train, but you don’t scare me, no.”
           “Why not?”
You sat on the edge of your chair and looked into his eyes. “You and the stray dog, you both need the same thing.”
           “Kindness?”
           You shook your head. “Love.”
In that moment warm, chocolate colored irises grew around the pupils of his eyes.
“What do we do?” he picked up a cookie and mindlessly nibbled it.
“I don’t know. You’re the first voodoo doll I’ve met.” You smiled to show him you were joking. “What do you say we try to figure this out together? I bet the more human you become, the more likely your creator won’t recognize you and will have to leave you alone.”
He finished his cookie. His focus was solely on you. “Together,” he repeated.
           “Together.”

When He Apologises To You After A Fight ~ Vixx Reaction
N:
Your eyes widened as you watched Hakyeon walk through the front door, two bags in his hands. He placed them in front of you, allowing you to peek inside both of them.
“My favourites,” you commented, recognising a few of your favourite things.
Hakyeon nodded proudly as he took a seat down beside you, “I thought they might be a good start in trying to say sorry to you for the argument earlier.”
“I guess buying my favourite chocolate does sweeten me up a little bit,” you agreed, reaching in and pulling your favourite bar out to start enjoying.
“You have to listen to me though Y/N, you can’t just eat that now.”
“I can do both,” you retorted, “plus I like the chocolate more than I like you right now.”
“I can’t argue with that,” Hakyeon shrugged back across at you, “but I would like you to at least pay attention enough to know that I’m sorry for what I said to you.”
Your head nodded as you looked up in Hakyeon’s direction. “This apology better be on a par with the chocolate otherwise I won’t be listening.”
“Y/N, shh,” Hakyeon laughed, “I’m trying to be serious, stop messing around with me now.”
“Sorry, I promise I’m listening.”
Leo:
A sigh came from you as you heard the door to your bedroom open, knowing that it was Taekwoon by the clearing of the throat that came from him as he approached you.
“I’m not interested,” you immediately called out, but Taekwoon didn’t listen.
Instead, he perched down on the bed just beside you. “I’m not here to cause another argument Y/N, I’m here because I want to say sorry for what happened.”
“It doesn’t change what you said earlier on,” you stubbornly replied, catching Taekwoon nodding in agreement with you out of the corner of your eye.
“Let me try and make it up to you at least, you shouldn’t be here.”
“I want to be here,” you corrected, “I’d happily be anywhere if it was away from you.”
“Y/N,” Taekwoon whispered, resting his hand against the top of your leg, “I’m trying here. I can’t say sorry enough but you can’t just ignore me forever and not talk to me.”
You shuffled slightly so that you were looking across at Taekwoon, “I’m listening,” you bluntly whispered, not letting him off quite so easily.
“Thank you,” he calmly responded. “I am really sorry for what I said, you know that, don’t you?”
“Yeah, I know you are Taek.”
Ken:
The sound of a knock at the door brought your eyes up, smiling weakly as you saw Jaehwan stood in the doorway, holding up the bag that was in his hand to show you.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, pushing your laptop away.
Jaehwan took that as a sign to walk into your office, hovering beside your desk. “It’s a bit of a peace offering, a guilt lunch for causing the argument earlier.”
“You’ve brought me lunch to say sorry?” You smiled back across at him, unable to stop yourself from being touched by Jaehwan’s sweet gesture.
“I’ve not been able to stop thinking about what happened.”
“Come on,” you spoke, beckoning him over, “I can’t say no to a free lunch anyway.”
“I’ve got a few more things that I thought might make you like me again,” Jaehwan informed you as he took his seat and started to unpack the bag.”
Your eyes rolled as he did so, “no matter how much we fight Jae, it never stops me from liking you. These things just happen in relationships.”
“You’re right,” he mused, “I guess sometimes I worry that I push things a little too far with you.”
“You definitely like to test me.”
Ravi:
Your eyes glanced away as soon as you noticed the front door opening, hearing Wonshik walk through the house and take a seat on the sofa beside you.
“What?” You questioned, feeling his eyes staring across at you firmly.
A sigh came from Wonshik, expecting you to still be annoyed with him. “I just wanted to talk to you Y/N, try and at least explain myself a little bit.”
“What’s there to explain?” You challenged, “you made your opinions quite clear this morning about what you think of me, I’m just stupid to you, aren’t I?”
“That’s not true, I didn’t get my words right at all earlier, that’s all.”
“Is that you explaining yourself?” You groaned back at him, “blaming your words?”
“Can you just let me finish?” Wonshik asked of you, running a hand through his hair. “I’m trying to put things right, even if you’re still mad with me.”
Your head nodded as you took a moment to calm yourself back down again, “I guess I could listen to what you have to say for yourself.”
“Don’t sound too disappointed,” Wonshik joked, “don’t you want to stop arguing with me?”
“Sometimes I’m not so sure.”
Hyuk:
A figure appearing brought a smile to Sanghyuk’s face, watching as Jaehwan peered down and took a look at what it was that he was doing on his phone during their break.
“For Y/N?” Jaehwan asked, watching as Sanghyuk browsed a selection of flowers.
His head nodded as he clicked one of the options, “I messed up pretty bad this morning, sending her a bouquet of flowers feels like the least that I could.”
“Did you really muck up that much?” Jaehwan couldn’t help but laugh, throwing his arm across Sanghyuk’s shoulders. “You don’t think just a sorry will cut it this time?”
“I’m too embarrassed to even tell you what I said to her earlier on.”
A hum of surprise escaped from Jaehwan, “you better find something expensive.”
“Since when were flowers so expensive,” Sanghyuk grumbled as he clicked to check out, “I can’t dig myself that big of a hole again just for the price of the apology.”
Jaehwan’s head shook as he listened to him, “at least hopefully if you send her these you’ll get Y/N talking to you again, isn’t that what’s most important.”
“Of course,” Sanghyuk agreed, “I think it might get me a few points remembering her favourites too.”
“Don’t get too ahead of yourself.”

Royal Counsel (Part 17)
Happy 2023!
Part 16: https://kpopnlockit.tumblr.com/post/691167643968929792/royal-counsel-part-16
Part 18: Coming soon!
Tumblr media
The ceremony would be quick and presided over by a priest. As far as you knew, Vixx was not a very religious country but even they viewed marriage as a union before God. That sentiment apparently extended to engagements as well. The ladies-in-waiting had delivered you straight to the path that divided the rows upon rows of filled seats. At the end of the aisle was a gilded platform that had been specially made for the occasion. It was raised a half-meter above the ground so that the entire audience could see. An arch would frame you as you stood up there, the arch having been draped with purple chiffon and outfitted with white roses to create a picturesque scene. Two artists had been hired to capture the moment on large canvases. Even the weather was cooperating. It was fairly cloudy but there was no threat of rain, and a gentle breeze cooled the rising heat of the day.
You had focused on the stage when you arrived, but it did not take long to hear the tinkle of the guests’ finery as they turned to look at you. The buzz of conversation died hurriedly as they realized that the event was starting. You did not allow yourself time to study them because you knew all you would find was judgment. There would be talk of your dress, of your hair, of your face, of anything and everything that could be critiqued. The gossip would come no matter what you did so there was no point in wasting your energy on witnessing it in real-time.
The sound of violins interrupted your thoughts. You could not see where the music was coming from, but the sound of harps and flutes could be heard adding to the ethereal ambience that was being carefully crafted. To add to the image, the servants of the manor were outfitted uniformly in lavender livery. They stood in neat lines on both ends of each row of seats, making sure that their polished shoes did not touch the royal purple aisle runner that was meant for you and your promised to walk down. The manor had to have hired outside help for the occasion, as there were far more butlers available to attend to the nobles than you had ever seen in the castle. The ladies-in-waiting curtseyed and followed a path around the guests that had been marked with a generous scattering of white rose petals to their designated chairs off to the side of the stage.
King Ravi had been somewhere nearby. As soon as you were deposited, he appeared at your elbow with N, Leo, Hyuk, and another man you did not recognize tailing him. The mystery man was tall, just like the other men and had a very distinguishing nose. All of them were outfitted in Vixx colors of aubergine and gold. However, each suit was different, with Leo’s being of a military bearing and N’s being plainer and befitting of a scholar. It was clear that the choice was deliberate to show pride in Vixx and simultaneously display their positions within the royal court. The man you did not recognize clapped King Ravi on the shoulder before leading the men down another footpath that mirrored the lady’s maids to their chairs on the opposite side of the stage.
You took a long look at your fiancè. He wore a traditional Vixx robe with a plum torso and white sleeves to match his white trousers. A beautiful mulberry and gold embroidered sash across the waist denoted his royal status and a patch over his left shoulder highlighted his military honors. The most surprising piece of his ensemble was a red tie that kept his robe closed. It matched the crimson in your gown. You had expected him to only be in Vixx colors. You would have to overanalyze the meaning of that later. In total, it was a simple but elegant outfit that did not require jewels or additional adornments to display King Ravi’s pride in Vixx and its short history.
King Ravi did not have anything in his body language that showed nervousness. He wore a facade of happy serenity. He turned to you and offered his arm. He smiled as he said, “You are exceptionally beautiful today.”
You did not know if you wanted to roll your eyes or blush. “You are more handsome than usual today as well,” you replied. And it was true.
He always looked regal in his national hue but combined with neatly styled hair and lightly rouged lips, he seemed to glow in the glimpses of sunlight that peeked through the clouds. You took his elbow and straightened. You needed to exude some of his easy confidence, let alone feel it.
Spectators gawked as you took your time walking toward the dais. Like King Ravi, you gazed ahead and refused to let your line of vision wander. It was not only for your peace of mind, but also to remind those who questioned your legitimacy of their own positions. Most would not be able to be in the same room as you once you were queen. Their presence at the engagement was to add to the scale and perceived grandeur of the event. Many of the attendees would usually only be invited to local balls and functions hosted by the nobles of their respective kingdoms. To be invited to a foreign King’s celebration was a show of power and excess. Vixx would be seen as a country that could afford to house and cater to irrelevant earls and counts. Vixx would also be considered humble and hospitable for doing the same.
As you had noted before, the ceremony was quick, taking just over ten minutes. During the proceedings, King Ravi did not once look away from you. Though you could pretend to be as stately as a monarch, having a staring contest with one of the most powerful men in the world while promising matrimony in the near future proved to be difficult. You very much wanted to squirm under his gaze or break eye contact just for a moment of reprieve. That could not be done without repercussion so you both maintained vaguely agreeable smirks. Internally, you wanted to awkwardly giggle at the ridiculousness of the situation. The only reason you did not was because of the seriousness of the situation. And just like that, the whole fiasco was over and King Ravi took your hand and led you back to the castle.
You did not actually go back inside but he instead took you to one of the open tents set up to the right of the rows of chairs. Some of the tents had been set up with food and drink and others had been outfitted with lounging furniture over thick carpeting. The most ornate tent housed two identical white thrones. In that tent, King Ravi ushered you to take a seat before sitting himself.
Once the guests were given leave to roam, they did so. A line of attendees formed, all of them wishing to give you greetings and congratulations. You plastered on a genteel smile and murmured your thanks and shook hands and received curtsies and bows. The line never seemed to end but you continued to nod affably alongside King Ravi. You could not recall a single face you had seen. You were sure that you had greeted at least a few people you had personally known, but through the flood of brightly colored clothes and painted skin, you could not recognize them. The receiving line took an estimated two hours. During which, you charaded as a polite and sweet future royal. Undoubtedly, everyone knew that you were no such thing, but no one dared to slight you.
There were about thirty minutes of reprieve between the end of the cocktail hour and the beginning of the reception. You were able to get through half a glass of lemonade before you were prompted to go to your chambers and change into your second dress. You were glad to go. The volume of social interaction had been overwhelming. Minah and a small entourage of ladies-in-waiting escorted you. The house was startlingly quiet after having been in the ruckus outside. With only the sound of footsteps echoing in your ear, you realized that you had not spoken to King Ravi at all after the ceremony. You likely would not be able to exchange words for the rest of the night. You were not sure if you were disappointed or not.
The second gown was less revealing than the first but was far more striking. It had a proper ball gown silhouette with a touch of scandal in the sleeves, or lack thereof. The bodice was completely strapless. Over the top was a sheer shirt with long sleeves to add the illusion of modesty. Buttons in a straight row went all the way up to the throat of the mesh shirt. A ribbon tied into a small bow separated the waterfall of fabric flowing to the floor from everything above the waist. The thing that set the dress apart from all others was that it was dyed a deep blood red. To contrast with the dark tint, the gauze over your arms and chest was stark white. Your hair was pulled back into an immaculate chignon. This time, large diamonds studded your ears and encircled your wrists. It was so bold that you would command attention by virtue of walking by.
All eyes were on you when you walked into the ballroom. Your entrance was announced which did not help. You kept your chin high and your shoulders rolled back as you made your way through the crowd. No one attempted to approach you. King Ravi was easy to locate as he was a spot of red in a sea of amethyst. Just like in Exo, his clothing was designed to complement yours. He wore a white shirt tucked into white pants and an open cherry-dyed sheer robe over it all. The robe was once again fashioned in the traditional style of Vixx, embroidered with red roses. The collar and sleeves were lined with the same ribbon at your midsection. It was a smart move to transition from Vixx purple to matching completely with you. It sent the message that before the ceremony he was King of Vixx. Now he was a claimed man with a partner that was his equal. The spot of cardinal on his ceremonial robe now made more sense, as it showed that he was including a fleck of you in his attire. A sign of thoughtfulness, of what could be construed as love. You appreciated the powerplay in the small and subliminal undertones to everything. It would help paint the picture you both wanted. Two very different people now united to create a nation more powerful than the world had seen in centuries.
King Ravi motioned to meet him in the middle of the room. Your skin crawled with the attention being directed at you by everyone else. You did not open your mouth to greet him first, which in any other situation would be incredibly rude. However, you had a plan. You had not discussed it with him previously so you did not know if he would play along, but you were banking on it. You paused and made sure to look him in the eye. He quirked an eyebrow before his mouth settled into a small grin as he approached. He understood what you were doing. He did not falter in his prowl towards you. He only stopped when he was within an arm’s distance. He took your hand and pressed a gentle kiss to your knuckles.
Though you had wanted him to greet you first, you had not expected the chivalrous gesture. You could not hide the way your lips parted in surprise. You rapidly overcompensated with a wide smile and commented, “You look quite handsome in red.”
“Not as stunning as you though,” he replied in a tone equal part sultry and teasing.
You beamed though you really wanted to return with a smart quip but that would not be ladylike. He took your hand in his and turned towards the spectators.
He addressed the guests in a voice so loud, it must have come from the depths of his gut, “Friends, thank you for being here today to celebrate this joyous occasion.”
You stood still, the portrait of a happy girl betrothed to Prince Charming.
King Ravi glanced at you, before continuing on, “Please celebrate with us. Enjoy the food, drink, and dancing.”
At that, the miniature orchestra in the corner began to play. A cheery song was chosen, concealing the lack of applause after King Ravi’s speech. There were plenty of people not pleased by your arrangement. There were also many who had not developed an opinion yet. When they approached you one on one, they were on their best behavior. However, there was power in groups. They had conspired not to clap and King Ravi had predicted as much. By not allowing ample time for people to even try to applaud, he had enacted his own countermeasure. Very few would pick up on the silence.
You would have to tread lightly. You were in a den of snakes. You smiled wickedly. It was good to feel at home.

I don't know who said it first but like, there's obviously the chance of the Chim/Hen and Eddie/Buck with Hen trying to save Chim and Buck trying to save Eddie and the possible implications, but someone said something about improbable pairings in the finale and it would actually be interesting to see Chim needing medical assistance but being trapped with Buck, the one with the least medical experience and Eddie being trapped with Hen, needing a physical rescue Hen wouldn't be able to do and Hen trying to talk Buck through helping Chim while Buck tries to help Hen figure out how to get to Eddie over the radio and all the nuances we could get from that.

Theories on the Script Leak
Recently, JLH posted a page of the script on her story. To paraphrase, Maddie and Buck were having a conversation where Buck feels guilty about hurting someone at a basketball court but at the end it implies that he felt like he did it on purpose. We know that the character Buck hurts is male because that was what the script said. Now, I will go through the character (in no particular order) and discuss the probability of them being the ‘hurt’ character. Additionally, I’ll discuss possible plots and questions that could arise from this.
1) Chimney. To be honest I don’t think it’s Chimney because if it was, Buck would feel way too guilty to talk to Maddie about it and I feel like Maddie wouldn’t be as calm if Buck admitted that he felt like he hurt Chimney on purpose. I also don’t think they’ll have a fight this season because it is Madney’s wedding and they already had a major blow-out in season 5. At most, they might have disagreements on the wedding planning but nothing major.
2) Albert. If the actor wasn’t working on other projects, it would have been a more likely option than Chimney. Maybe Buck and Albert had a fight because Buck and Natalia broke up and then Albert started dating Natalia. So Buck feels betrayed and jealous because he couldn’t be happy in a relationship with her but Albert can. Or maybe Albert has a serious, long-term girlfriend that he plans to marry and Buck feels jealous that he’s not at that place yet, even though he is older. Or Albert says something that accidentally provokes Buck. In the script it also implies that there are possibly 2 ‘hims’, the ‘him 1” who got hurt and “him 2” that is mad that Buck hurt “him 1”. So in this case, Chimney could be mad that Buck hurt Albert.
3) Also a likely option. Buck has been aggressive to Ravi before in an attempt to haze him for the job. And I could see Buck being jealous that Ravi is advancing in the job faster than he did.
4)Christopher. No way in hell is it going to be Christopher. First of all, Christopher is a child, if Buck is trying to imply that he may have hurt him on purpose then he is a major asshole. Secondly, there is no conceivable chance that Buck could ever get mad enough at Christopher where he would be extra rough or aggressive with him and if Buck does hurt Christopher, he wouldn’t even think for a second that he may have done it on purpose because that is the last thing he’d ever do.
5) Bobby. I don’t really think it’s likely because I can’t really think of a scenario where Buck would get mad enough at Bobby that he would think that he hurt him on purpose. Even when he got Interim Captain, Buck didn’t hide his disappointment from Bobby and had a asked him why he wasn’t offered the job. Buck and Bobby’s relationship has certainly been fortified last season, so I think if Buck had a problem with Bobby, he will just straight-up tell him. There will be no Lawsuit 2.0.
6) Eddie. I think it’s most probably Eddie. I am trying not to look at this through shipper goggles and keep my expectations low but there are definitely reasons that Buck could get mad enough at Eddie where he would think that he may have hurt him on purpose. Buck could be jealous that Eddie is spending more time with Marisol or whoever he is currently dating. Or Buck could be upset that there’s a new development in Eddie’s life that Eddie didn’t tell him about. Or Buck or Eddie could have both said something hurtful to each other in the heat of the moment and now things are tense between them. Or Buck and Eddie may be hiding their feelings for each other and it’s causing more tension, more aggression and more fights.
I feel like Buck would feel comfortable being rough/aggressive with Eddie because they are close and they are peers unlike him and Bobby and Christopher and I feel like Buck’s emotions are more heightened with Eddie so it would be easier for him to get in that headspace.I also think that ‘him 2’ could be Christopher. Maybe Buck feels like Christopher is mad at him because he hurt his dad.
Now I don’t think Buck actually intended to hurt the person but I think he was definitely more aggressive/rougher than usual with this person. I really hope this plot is good and that the resolution is shown.

Can you please please please do more headcanons? I’m obsessed
Hi! Sorry if you don’t like angst because this is going to be a dump of my angsty PipRavi headcanons!!!
Hope you enjoy it and sorry again for the pain I’m about to cause.
Angsty PipRavi headcanons
TW: depression, implied suicidal thoughts, use of drugs
Ravi cried himself to sleep each night after Pip and him broke up while Pip overworked herself so that she fell asleep the moment she hit the pillow from exhaustion.
On most days, Pip’s strategy doesn’t work and she stays up all night reliving everything that happened.
When Pip hugged Ravi after Stanley’s death, it was the first time Ravi’s presence failed to comfort her -definitely not the last too- and it scared Pip so much.
Ravi almost caved into the urge to fuck up their plan and call Pip many times, but he managed to control himself.
Though Pip had promised Ravi that she would stop taking any drugs/sleeping pills, she still takes some on her hardest times.
Pip often imagines the worst case scenario happening and thinks that if it happens then there’s no point in living anymore. Her life would technically end so why not actually end it.
The first few weeks of their breakup, Ravi could barely leave his room, eat or do anything. He lost so much weight and he looked physically older from how burdened and exhausted he had been.
Cara definitely had to hold and comfort a weeping Ravi countless of times. (And so did Connor and the rest of the squad, but it was mostly Cara.)
Pip and Ravi definitely looked at old pictures and videos of each other when they needed comfort the most.
Ravi never left Pip because she would talk to him every single day in her head. And yeah it wasn’t healthy or normal, but Pip knows she hasn’t been normal for a long long time.
Pip has many different nightmares, but the worst ones are the ones where DT kills her.
Sometimes she wished he had.
Ravi would definitely avoid Pip’s family (to make the plan more sensible) and each time he notices Josh looking at him when they encounter each other in town he turns around and it breaks him every single time.
Pip and Ravi had accidentally called someone else (could be a classmate or a coworker or anyone really) by each other’s name at least once.
Ravi’s parents, at first, always asked about Pip and Ravi would answer vaguely or shrug it off until one time he snapped at them and they stopped asking. (He apologized later of course, but Nisha and Mohan wanted to respect their son’s privacy.)
I have mentioned this before in a different post, but Pip would definitely buy the same perfume Ravi uses and wear it or use it to feel like he’s there with her.
Even after they get back together, Pip still struggles with morality and understanding the gray area which makes her feel unworthy of love and happiness, leading to many self-sabotage caused fights.
That night will always haunts Ravi, especially the fact that he had come so close to losing Pip forever.
Pip would silently watch Ravi’s and her friends’ social media updates and mourn all the time she lost and all the happiness she missed.
Even when she gets a therapist, Pip still at times feels like she’ll never be put back together.
“I will always be a shell of who I used to be, Ravi. Never the Pip you love. Just an illusion of who she is.”
“Then let me love this new Pip. The one you call a shell. Let me love her. You should’ve realized it by now, but I won’t let you go ever again.”

Work was absolutely exhausting.
Mind draining. Everyone was complaining about the smallest of things to you and today just wasn’t the day to deal with it.
You had some customers yell in your face due to a small mistake made by one of your coworkers, and honestly it’s just draining you by completely. It makes you wanna break down in tears due to how exhausted you are.
The drive home was no help. If anything it made it worse due to the traffic to get to your shared apartment with your boyfriend. You just wanted to see him and feel comforted by his touch and words.
The moment you got home, opened the door you felt the tears starting to prick at your eyes causing the stinging sensation to build up.
Doyoung, hearing you come home, gets off of the couch and makes his way towards you. Happy to see that you’re home from work. He stops midway on his way towards you. Seeing the exhausted look on your face told him everything he needed to know.
Quickly making his way towards you, he wrapped his arms around you and squeezed you tightly. Assuring you that he is here right now. Just for you.
His scent and the feeling of his arms around you caused you to break down in tears in his arms, as you held him just as tightly.
Doyoung lets you release everything that was building up inside of you as he runs his arms up and down your back.
Once you felt yourself come down, you whipped the stray tears away with the back of your hand, and let out a sadden chuckle. “I’m sorry, I don’t know why I’m being like this.” You said with a smile that didn’t reach your eyes while more tears fall down your eyes. “How was your day Doi?”
Doyoung shakes his head towards you as he placed his hands gently on your face and rubbed at your wet cheeks. “This isn’t about me right now. It’s about you.” He said as he gave you a heart warming smile, that you swore was about to make you cry again. “We’re going to forget everything that happened today and let this moment be a calm, and better moment.” He said as he softly took hold of your hand and guided you towards your shared bathroom.
“I’m going to run you a bath.” He says but frowns his eyebrows slightly at the look on your face. “I’m not taking no for an answer y/n. You deserve this moment after the day you just had. Okay?” He said as he gently took hold of your face once again.
“Okay…” you said below a whisper as the lump in your throat wouldn’t let you speak any higher without wanting to cry in relief.
“Good. This is your moment to stay still and just be you baby.” Doyoung said as he turned around and started to run warm water for you. “I love you, okay? I want the absolute best for you and this relationship. Especially when you’re feeling like this.” He says as he placed a tender kiss on the top of your head.
“Thank you so much Doi, and I love you too.” You said with a small smile on your face.
A wide, gummy smile takes hold of Doyoung’s face as he stands by the door. Giving you, your much needed space for right now.
“While you’re taking your bath, I’m going to order your favorite takeout. Then when you’re out we’ll eat and find something to watch. Does that sound good?” Doyoung said.
“Sounds perfect. Thank you.” You said with a delighted sigh when your hand touched the warm, awaiting water.
“Great! I’ll see you soon baby. Take your time.” Doyoung says as he closes the bathroom door slightly to give you your privacy.
You couldn’t more than grateful for having someone like Doyoung in your life. Nothing could change the fact that he knows you better than anyone else could ever.
You thank your lucky stars for Doyoung, as you leaned your back against the tub’s wall and just let everything that happened sink into the warm water and wash away. This is your calm and still moment, and nothing was going to take away from it.

When They Take Care Of Their Pregnant Partner ~ Vixx Reaction
N:
Your head shook as Haknyeon walked across to you with another cushion in his hand. “I don’t need any more you know.”
He placed the cushion down beside you anyway, tucking it into your side. “It’s better to have it here just in case you start getting uncomfortable with the bump through the night.”
“I can’t move for cushions all around me Haknyeon.”
He looked around your frame, nodding in agreement with you. “Maybe I might have grabbed a couple too many cushions for you to make you cosy.”
“You think,” you chuckled, “there’s hardly any room for you too.”
“I just want to make sure that you don’t get disturbed,” Haknyeon sighed softly, dropping down beside you. “I know what you’re like, you don’t like to say when you’re struggling.”
“How about we leave them just beside the bed?” You suggested, “that way if I need one, I can just reach for it?”
“If you want one, wake me to get it,” Haknyeon corrected, “other than that, I agree with you.”
“I reckon I can work with that offer.”
Leo:
Your eyes glanced back, sighing to yourself as you noticed Taekwoon just behind you. “Are you following me around?”
His head shook, although as you came face to face with Taekwoon, your head shook too. “I’m not following you, I guess I’m just making sure that you’re alright instead.”
“I’m pregnant, I can walk around just fine.”
A sigh came from Taekwoon too as he studied you closely. “I know now that you can, I just always feel better being with you, just in case anything happens.”
“Nothing will happen,” you smiled, “I’m being careful too.”
“You can never be one hundred percent certain though,” Taekwoon couldn’t help but reply, unable to shut the part of his brain down that was constantly worrying about you.
“Take a breath,” you instructed Taekwoon, “you know that if I feel like I need your help, then I’ll ask you for it too.”
“I guess I just want to be around,” he shrugged, “I always feel like I can be helpful for you.”
“And you already are too Taekwoon.”
Ken:
As another groan came from you, Jaehwan stopped what he was doing and looked at you. “I’m alright,” you told him.
His head shook as he walked across to where you were laid out on the bed. “You’re obviously not alright if you’re making that noise, what’s going on? What’s wrong?”
“The baby is just a bit restless right now.”
Straight away, Jaehwan laid down beside you, wrapping his arm around your waist. “I’ll try and get them to calm down and let you rest for a while.”
“You’re busy,” you told him. “You don’t need to do this.”
“I do if it helps you out Y/N,” Jaehwan quickly corrected, “what I’m doing isn’t really that important anyway, definitely not as important as the two of you are to me anyway.”
“Thank you,” you whispered back to Jaehwan as his hand moved around your tummy in circles to ease the pain.
“Anything,” he hummed in response, “you know that you can always count on me, don’t you?”
“Of course, you’re the best Jae.”
Ravi:
Your smile was wide as Wonsik got out of the bed and walked across to you. “Thank you,” you chuckled across to him.
His hands reached out and intertwined in with yours, “you’re lucky you’re pregnant otherwise I’d be so mad about you waking me up right now just to help you up.”
“It’s a hard job to do with a huge baby bump you know.”
“I know,” Wonsik agreed, counting down from three before pulling you up onto your feet so that you could get out of bed and head over to use the bathroom.
“Thank you,” you told him again, “I really appreciate it.”
“Do you need anymore help?” Wonsik asked you as you began to walk around the bedroom. “Do I need to wait in case you need some help getting back into the bed as well?”
“Getting back into bed is the fun bit,” you joked, “I can just drop down and roll onto my side and I’m tucked back in.”
“You’re impossible,” Wonsik grinned, “you’ve still got to be careful just dropping down Y/N.”
“Don’t worry, it’s all under control.”
Hyuk:
You couldn’t help but allow your smile to grow as an arm moved around your waist. “Are you alright?” You looked to Sanghyuk.
His head nodded in reply to you as the two of you walked, “I’m just holding onto your bump, it’s a bit busy around here and I don’t want for anyone to end up knocking you.”
“I’m pretty good at moving out of the way.”
Sanghyuk carried on nodding in agreement with you, “even if you can move, it’s better to be safe than sorry and have me holding onto your bump.”
“You’re cute,” you grinned, “you care so much about us.”
“Of course,” Sanghyuk smiled in reply to you, “you’re heavily pregnant, and you’ve got our baby in there too, there’s no way that I could just leave you to fend for yourself Y/N.”
“I appreciate it,” you mused back to Sanghyuk, “even though I probably like to be a bit stubborn sometimes.”
“It’s hard,” he agreed, “having to struggle and accept the help of others all of a sudden, right?”
“Exactly, it’s all so different.”

Projects
❧ Adore you | Multi | Ongoing
tags: polyamory, complicated relationships
Jaehwan had always been a bit theatrical. It was the Aries fire in him that craved first place in everything, to consume and be consumed at the same moment, to act first and think later. It was the fire in his eyes that kept him in trouble. The one where Jaehwan kind of fucks everything up and has to learn how to be honest with the people he loves.
❧ Bloom | Multi | Ongoing
tags: safe sane and consensual, mutual pining
The unknown excites him, even now. Hongbin has never been in a relationship. There was never enough time and he hated the idea, but he finally feels ready to grow and explore alongside someone. He convinces himself that he only has to find his partner and everything else will work out. Love is a little more complicated than that.
❧ Celestial | Hyuken | Complete
tags: rough sex, asphyxiation
Celestial (Latin): a divine or mythical being. Jaehwan had encountered thousands of creatures—angels, demons and more—during his existence, and not a single one could compare to Sanghyuk. He was so breathtaking, so entrancing without even trying that it made his heart hurt sometimes, even though they belonged to each other. Sanghyuk was mortal, but he put the moon itself to shame.
❧ Delicate | Chasangbin | Complete
tags: fluff and humor, open relationships
They could get used to this. Sanghyuk invites Hongbin to dinner at Hakyeon's apartment. The night takes an unexpected turn.
❧ Jamais Vu/Luna | Wontaek | Complete
tags: worldbuilding, human/monster romance
Taekwoon has been here before. Once upon a time, Taekwoon believed he and Wonshik were the only creature and human in a relationship. Hakyeon and Hongbin prove him wrong tenfold, and the weight of his past and reality begin to catch up with him.
❧ Makeup Drawer | Chaken | Inactive
tags: tooth-rotting fluff, secret crush
Hakyeon wondered if Jaehwan would hate him for it, for wanting to kiss him until their lips were bruised, for being unable to control himself as if he were a teenager, for having urges towards him in the first place. They were so close and yet... Hakyeon has a crush on Jaehwan. He doesn't know how to tell him because he's a little busy attempting to deny it.
❧ Moonlight Sunrise | Chabin | Complete
tags: succubi & incubi, developing relationship
Hongbin held his breath as the demon approached him, and his heart danced wildly behind his ribcage as the distance between them disappeared. His lover grabbed his waist, pulled him close, and bent down slightly to press their lips together, and Hongbin felt himself explode into a million little pieces of stardust. This was what he wanted. This was what he had been waiting all day for: an opportunity to get close to him, to stare into his moonlit eyes, to feel the rush of desire that frequently accompanied his touch, to kiss him back harder, harder, harder until he understood how much he wanted him, how much he would always want him, no matter what.
❧ Naked | Leohyuk | Complete
tags: emotional porn, established relationship
"You don’t need to apologize for your body. Anyone who cares for you will love and respect however it looks and feels." Taekwoon and Sanghyuk finally get the time alone they deserve.
❧ New Year's Day | Chasangbin | Complete
tags: holidays, fluff and smut
Hongbin feels like they have found a family where they belong, and they couldn’t be happier. The one where the holidays are better than everyone expected.
❧ Nocturne | Chabin | Complete
tags: demon & human interactions, monster fucker lee hongbin
Nocturne (Latin): a person, concept, or artwork that embodies the energy of the night, shadows, and dreams.
Hongbin didn’t know or care how many other creatures Hakyeon had brought home—he just wanted to be the one that he remembered.
❧ Strawberry | Hyuken | Complete
tags: summer romance, semi-public sex
There was one thing Jaehwan loved more than strawberries, and that was Sanghyuk. Jaehwan plans a sweet surprise for his boyfriend.
❧ Stardust | Kenbin| Ongoing
tags: fae & fairies, soulmates
"None of this is a coincidence. Since the creation of the universe, this was our destiny." Hongbin makes a wish that changes his world forever.
❧ the place i've been searching for is you | Hyuk-centric | Ongoing
tags: inspired by shangri-la (vixx), promiscuity
"the empty space inside me fills the color of you is faint and dazzling beautiful, warm, mysterious" Sanghyuk x everyone because it's what the doctor ordered!

Tumblr media
The day of reckoning came sooner than expected. The palace was buzzing with activity. Even Minah could not contain herself. She and one of the Princess’ lady’s maids had come to your room shortly after the sun had risen bearing hot water for washing. You were promptly plucked from your bed and dropped into a beauty routine that could have only ascended from the depths of hell. You asked for breakfast at some point and were allowed a cup of tea and a single biscuit. Anything more and there would be fear of your corset not being able to be tightened to the risk of breaking a rib. As such, your stomach grumbled loudly as your hair was lathered with something oily and floral smelling.
It was a trying time, but you made it out alive. You did not immediately don the gown. Firstly, you did not want to damage the dress in the hours still left until the ceremony. Secondly, no one was to see the frock until right before you were presented to King Ravi. With so many people everywhere, the chance of someone accidentally catching a glimpse was too high. Instead, you wore a simple day gown. It was Vixx purple and fashioned in the popular style of a fitted bodice with loose sleeves and skirts. The plan was to allow the corset to squeeze your internal organs until they were pushed up into your ribcage and periodically tighten it further throughout the day, leaving you with a waist a fraction of the normal size.
There was no day that you cursed women’s fashion more. Where were the eras where a well-fed lady was prized? It did not matter too much though. Once you caught sight of the numerous guests milling about in their finery, you lost your appetite. People were everywhere and the usual quiet of the mansion could not be found at all, not even in your chambers. Voices could be heard in the hallways and through the glass of the windows.
Entertainment had also been set up for the guests. Horses had been borrowed from local merchants and lesser nobles for carriage and saddle rides. A field about two kilometers away had been fitted with archery targets and the throne room had been converted into a theater with puppet shows and a theater troupe performing short plays. The music and art room had been stocked with an abundance of supplies. Food and drink could be found all over on small tables around almost every corner. A luncheon would be held in the garden just after midday for anyone that wanted a larger meal and to socialize. You would not be in attendance and nor would King Ravi. It would show that you were occupied with more pressing matters. As to what those were, the guests could imagine and theorize to their heart's content. The Princess would be there to extend noble politeness and pomp.
You did not mind missing out. You knew that you would not get a reprieve from people later on in the day. You would have to enjoy your solitude while it lasted. No doubt everyone and anyone would be seeking to introduce themselves and get in the good graces of Vixx’s future queen. You could already hear the false flattery ringing in your ears. You would have to smile and nod and bite your tongue. There was also the high likelihood that there would be plenty of women coveting your position and thinking that they still had a chance at stealing it from you. Little did they know that they had no chance at all. At least, that would be the case if King Ravi had anything to do with it.
In the meantime, you tried to make up for the lost time and crawled back into bed. The maids had gone to prepare something or another, so you had some time to truly be alone with your thoughts. You quickly discovered that laying down made it harder to breathe. How women wore waist cinchers daily was beyond your understanding. You did your best to get some rest. You closed your eyes and tried not to think about what was to come.
You had resolved yourself to becoming Vixx’s Queen but it was one thing to say it and another to feel yourself getting closer to that goal step by step. You still had a lot to learn about the country and you could not say that you had the people’s best interest at heart. However, you  could. You could learn and grow to love the citizens. You could earn your place at the top. You could deserve it. You could make the most of this life you had been given. You could make decisions and enact real change. You would not have to claw your way into being heard. You would not have to worry about being condescended to because you were a woman.
King Leeteuk’s lifeless eyes flashed through your mind. It had not been an opportunity of chance. If your homeland was going to be wiped off the map, you supposed there were worse fates to have succumbed to. The coast you had grown up on was left untouched. Most of Suju was. Only the capitol had been razed. You were grateful for that. Your parents were probably okay but you had not checked. They could be used as leverage. You did not want to put them at risk and you absolutely did not want anyone to use them as a way to threaten you.
However, you could have really used your mother at a time like this. You could imagine her with a hibiscus tucker behind her ear, the picture of soft feminine grace. You had never been like her though. Your father tried his best to make you into her likeness, but he could never get it quite right. She did not push you like your father did. When you came home with bruised knees and hid candles so you could read the thick ancient tomes that the bookseller at the market could not get rid of so you just gave them to you for free, she pretended not to notice. When your father pressured you to wear skirts and learn to cook, she looked the other way and let you sleep late when you had stayed up reading. She would sew up hand-me-down dresses into shorts so you could rough and tumble as much as you desired.
You imagined your parents never expected you to actually get married. You, yourself, had never thought it possible. Your intent was to work until a ripe old age and then live the last of your days back on the coast you were raised on. The sea breeze and slow lifestyle would send you to the afterlife peacefully. Now, that had become a distant dream. You would not have your father walk you down the aisle. There would be no mother of the bride to fuss over inconsequential details. You were starkly aware of just how alone you were.
Your father had wanted you to make a good housewife. Not even matrimony could work miracles such as that. This union would not be easy as long as you made fresh meals and maintained a clean home. No, this marriage would be forged in and maintained by blood. There would be international conflicts to incite and then resolve. There would be many sleepless nights and difficult mornings. There would likely be attempts on your life. Nothing would be easy. However, that was something you had grown accustomed to. You would simply need to adapt to it as you always did. You would thrive in the face of adversity and smile while doing it. You exhaled loudly. Your life would never be easy.
You must have dozed off at some point because the next thing you knew, Minah was waking you. Several ladies were hovering near the bed, awaiting you. They appeared like an army in their lavender livery. It was time for the true grooming to begin. Your hair was combed over and over again until it fell in a smooth glossy sheet down your back. From there, it was twisted and knotted into a thick pile on the top of your head. Pins bejeweled with rubies and  scarlet ribbons were weaved into the tangle and you wondered how many people it would take to remove them all. Pastes and powders were mixed and dabbed and brushed across your face artfully. You could tell that the women working on you were skilled as they only required a single stroke to lay down the cosmetics to their satisfaction. You assumed that a child’s doll felt something like you did just then.
After about two hours, your army of maidens allowed you to stand and observe their work in the mirror. Your legs and back were stiff from sitting as still as possible, so you appeared like a drunkard meandering towards the corner of the room. When you finally got there, you did not recognize yourself in the looking glass. The girl staring back at you was pretty, a word never used to describe you. Your eyelashes and eyebrows were darkened and your lips and cheeks were reddened. Garnets as large as robin eggs hung from your throat and ears. You looked like a woman, something you were very unfamiliar with.
“It is time for the dress,” Minah announced.
You looked back at her and saw that she was pushing a dress form across the rug. On it was the completed gown. Though you had tried on the mock dress and the actual garment when it was only half done, the sight of it had you awestruck. It was a simple design with a bolt of white fabric flowing each shoulder and the crimson waist sash securing the whole thing. The shoulder panels were connected to your gold necklace, gravity doing the work of holding them to your body. It looked like a costume from ancient times and was quite the statement. The colors said enough on their own, but the style told the world that despite Vixx being a young country, they were to be seen as one of the greats.
Regardless of the message though, you had to admit it suited you. It only took Minah to help you get it on. It was very comfortable and lighter than you imagined an engagement gown to be. The neckline and back were daring, which you minded a bit but it was too late to do anything about it now. You would have to put on your bravest face and pretend to have the confidence befitting a queen-consort. You sighed quietly to yourself as you slid on your silk slippers. The soles of the shoes were thin pieces of leather and you suspected that was intentional to deter you from trying to run.
“You are beautiful,” Minah breathed, taking in the whole image of her handiwork.
You could not help the flush that darkened your cheeks even further. You supposed that you would have to grow accustomed to compliments about your appearance. “Thank you,” you replied.
Minah beamed, happy that you accepted the appreciation instead of fighting her on it as usual. “Are you ready?” she asked.
You were not. You were not sure you would ever be. Yet, you heard yourself say, “Yes.”
Ready or not, here you came.
