Occult Recipebook
Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn and caldron bubble.
Tumblr media
INTRO
Occult gameplay is up there with one of my favourite ways to play. Food is a part of our Sims lives, and should also be for occults so that they can cook up their preferred foods.
This Occult Recipebook is a collection of custom recipes (food and drink) for Occult Sims in the Sims 4.
Tumblr media
I have started off this occult culinary journey with: ✨SPELLCASTERS✨
I have plans to later create foods for each occult life state, so I will keep adding to the recipe book.
“Spellcasters” as a life state can be played in so many different ways: they can range from gnarly evil witches who practice black magic and eat bird entrails, to happy little fairies who live in cottages surrounded by woods and flowers! I have tried to include a little bit of everything in the recipes I have created. These foods are a mix of fairy, fantasy, green garden witch, apothecary, or black-magic sorcerer etc.
They effect Spellcasters and/or human Sims in many weird and wonderful ways.
E.g. Nettle Tea which helps teenagers suffering with acne, Milk Thistle Biscuits which leave the consumer with prickly thistles in their tongue, and Eye of Newt Soup which most Sims will find disgusting but which Spellcasters will happily slurp up.

"What an astonishing thing a book is. It’s a flat object made from a tree with flexible parts on which are imprinted lots of funny dark squiggles. But one glance at it and you’re inside the mind of another person, maybe somebody dead for thousands of years. Across the millennia, an author is speaking clearly and silently inside your head, directly to you.
Writing is perhaps the greatest of human inventions, binding together people who never knew each other, citizens of distant epochs. Books break the shackles of time. A book is proof that humans are capable of working magic.”
- Carl Sagan, excerpt from the 11th epsidode of Cosmos ("The Persistence of Memory")

Money Bowl & Money / Abundance Mix
Tumblr media
↑ Picture of my first money bowl.
Money bowls are a staple in many different practices, the idea being that you cram a bunch of stuff into a bowl to draw money, prosperity, and abundance to you.
Disclaimer: This information is compiled from my own correspondences and what works for me.

My Money Bowl Contents: (Do not repost)
NOTE: Not all of the contents of the bowl are listed here. These are what I’m comfortable sharing.
The bowl itself is a repurposed WalMart candle glass. I’m not terribly happy with it, and will likely change it up in the future if I find a more suitable / appropriate container. Or I’ll draw or paint or otherwise modify it’s appearance, I dunno.
It holds, in no particular order:
Old money poppet I made years ago from old pj pants. Used to keep him in my purse, but I felt he’d serve me better here.
Green felt & twine spell pouch w/ money mixture in it
3 pieces of green sea glass
An old money protection tealight
Sand dollar
$1 in quarters
3 tiiiiiny pieces of citrine
3 whole allspice
9 whole cloves
2 green spiral seashells
1 white spiral seashell with brown dots
3 roasted & salted sunflower seeds
4 pumpkin seeds
1 acorn
3 cowrie shells
2 cinnamon sticks
1 bayleaf
Typically, I also have petitions, spell bags, and $1-$20 bills in it as well.
Money / Abundance Mixture: (Do not repost)
Originally, this served as the base of the money bowl, which I would set the above mentioned items upon. I disliked that the above items became covered in glitter and ginger powder, so I separated the mixture and put it in a jar. I use it in workings to bring abundance and money.
Listed alphabetically:
Basil
Beans
Catnip
Eucalyptus
Gold Glitter
Ground Cinnamon
Ground Cloves
Ground Ginger
Ground Nutmeg
Quick Oats (Oatmeal)
Pumpkin Pie Spice
Roasted & Salted Sunflower Seeds
Rosemary
Sea Salt
Silver Glitter
Thyme
White Rice
You can add / leave out what you wish. I don’t have exact measurements, sorry! This mixture is not edible and should not be made into anything that will be consumed or ingested.
Do not repost any of my spells, curses, etc. Reblogs are OK.

"hard work pays off" powder
DISCLAIMER: if you are allergic to bee pollen maybe don't do this? substitute with another substance that corresponds to hard work, diligent effort, etc.
materials:
your main ingredient is bee pollen (or substitute). feel the bee pollen (or substitute) amount with your heart.
1 tbsp basil (dried)
1 tbsp rosemary (dried)
like 1/8 tsp powdered ginger root
dried dandelion leaves. also feel this amount with your heart but in my experience a little goes a long way.
i was gonna add eggshell powder for an added layer of protection but i forgor :(
steps:
gather ingredients.
literally just throw it all into a mortar and pestle and do the thing until it's the desired texture. i actually don't currently own a mortar and pestle so i just. mashed it all up. in a glass tupperware. with the blunt end of a sturdy wooden spoon.
you can strain it if you want i guess? but i didn't.
put that shit in a jar. store it in a cool, dry place.
notes
this was originally conceptualized as a sweetening spell, with the primary ingredient having initially been honey. but i was worried about ants. and i just happened to have a fuckton of bee pollen i'd no idea what to do with but didn't want to just get rid of.
while bee pollen does have sweetening qualities, to me it has a stronger association with "hard work."
that said, this recipe could easily be altered to substitute the basil, rosemary and ginger root (prosperity, protection, and luck in a timely manner) for other herbs that amplify the sweetening qualities of the pollen.
this could probably also easily be adapted into an oil instead of a powder, but idk that much about magical oil-making yet.
btw the measurements are really rough estimates. just feel it with your heart, you know? for example i only added a bit of ginger root bc i only wanted a little bit of a "kick," but experiment to find out what feels good! remember, you can always add more.

Oh and before I go to sleep, the next entry in the grimoire is about offering cakes, both the act itself and the best kinds of cakes to offer, and this will be a section written by Scar.
I’d like to include some actual (non-mayonnaise based) recipes for cakes in there so if you have a good cake recipe you’d like to share for the grimoire, please send me an ask with it! <3

Shielding Spritz Recipe
This spritz is something I use almost daily. It can be used to boost shields, to initiate the formation of a shield, and as a shield itself. What’s a shield? Simply a barrier to protect you from ill-intended energy or something to protect your energy reserve throughout the day. It can be highly personalized to your needs, sometimes I shield with the intent that people won’t notice me, like I’m a fly on the wall. Sometimes I shield with the intent of intimidation, coupled with a glamour spell for intimidation and unapproachableness. But most often I use shields to protect my energy reserve from being drained, to keep my mind clear, and to keep my necessary energetic barriers up.
How to use this spritz? I spray down my veils before I use them. I also spritz this in my hair on the days I don’t veil. You may also anoint your forehead with this water, or spritz it into the air and walk through it.
Now, the Recipe!
Components:
spritz bottle
water (distilled, bottled, purified, spring, pH, moon, just use what works for you and suits your intent. i usually used bottled spring water)
dried yarrow
shield essential oil blend (I got mine from Mountain Rose Herbs, but you can make your own from clove, cinnamon, thyme, lemon, and rosemary essential oils)
bergamot essential oil
a protective sigil
optionally, some high proof alcohol to help it last longer on the shelf or in the fridge
Putting it all together!
Cleanse your bottle however you see fit. I like to wash with lemon water or lemon scented soap and water, dry in the sunshine, or i will wash with soap and water, dry it, and smoke cleanse. whatever works!
Add your water of choice. don’t fill it up all the way, you’re going to be adding dry herbs and oils and potentially a capful of high proof alcohol later on.
I will add bergamot for a sense of being in control of myself. it’s an energetic oil, being that bergamot is a citrus, so for me it assists me in being able to control of my energy.
I will add my shielding blend from Mountain Rose Herbs. if you don’t have this blend or all the essential oils to make this blend yourself , you probably have at least some combination of lemon, rosemary, cinnamon, clove, and thyme somewhere in your kitchen! use that. dry herbs work well in lieu of essential oil blends. This concoction is made with the intent of shielding. It’s components are protective, clarifying, and energetic. Nothing is too intense in this blend, and I like that.
I will add dried yarrow. Yarrow is good for setting and upholding boundaries, energetically, emotionally, and physically. It’s also a good herb for promoting restraint, so I can decide when is a good time to pull from my energy reserve and when it’s best to step aside and removing myself from unnecessary conflict or sour situations.
I will draw a protective sigil on my bottle to label it as well as charge the mixture with that protective quality.
Optionally, you can add some high proof alcohol to your mixture to help it last longer on the shelf or in the fridge, as well as help it spray a little nicer. Anything from everclear to brandy would be fine! I’ve used everclear for mental clarity (use a little bit, though) or brandy because of my associations with warmth, energy, healing, and family for me.
Some notes!
I tend to go through this rather quickly, because I use it nearly every day. I also make it in small batches, so I don’t always add the alcohol because it isn’t necessary for shelf life (since I go through it so quickly). Sometimes if I need a little kick to my shieldings, I’ll also add that alcohol in there.
You don’t have to veil to use this, but it can be used as a sort of energetic veil when spritzed in the hair. That’s how I use it when I can’t wear an actual, physical veil on certain days.
That’s all! Hope you enjoyed this page from my grimoire!

Hello!
❤️+🖤 with maybe with ... Violetta and Freya?
"Freya's very resourceful," Violetta says, adjusting her glasses. "I'm amazed at how easily she's taken to this world, even though it's different from her own. She was able to adapt so well, I honestly do respect her for that." She smiles, a little tense. "But she is rather blunt, isn't she? I went to the trouble of making a Basque cheesecake for her, and she told me she'd had better."

As a closeted witch, kitchen magick is useful for covert crafting, unfortunately I'm pretty forgetful so I never really think to do the things I've seen on witchblr such as making a sigil with a sauce or stirring with witchy intentions.
However I do cook with the intention of making something for my family that they love and that makes them happy so I suppose that counts for something right?
Anyways I wanted to share a very loose recipe for curry that I make a lot because it's one of the things my entire family actually agrees on liking
I usually just wing it with whatever is in the house to use lol also this is mostly just to put in my grimoire so don't expect it to look a professional cookbook or something
Also fyi this usually feeds my family of 7 so I'd get a pretty decent size pot or something ig
Ingredients:
a base meat or vegetable of your choice (iv used chicken, ground beef, zucchini and even oxtail once so whatever is good to you)
Tomato paste (can be substituted with a can of diced tomatoes which is more filling and I really like the texture of the tomatoes in the curry, though it does mean the curry will be less thick)
Coconut milk (u can always just use water ofc but again won't be as thick or as tasty IMO)
1 can Chickpeas
1 Onions
 2-4 diced Mushrooms
Like a tablespoon or two of shredded Ginger
Like 5 spoons of Minced Garlic (or however many u can take I just really love garlic lol)
Spices;
Curry powder
Turmeric
Paprika
Cinnamon
Thyme or rosemary
Onion salt (I use trader joes)
And 1-3 chicken/beef/veggie bouillon cubes/2 tablespoons bullion
Chili powder
Note: all of these ingredients are optional, mix and match spices and ingredients to find what it is you like.
Personally I don't use ginger that often because even though I think it's delicious my family doesn't really like it and I also hate cleaning the shredder afterwards, or if you don't wanna use chili powder that's fine.
Anyways so now you wanna chop up all your vegetables and meat into the size you want, I like them pretty small.
Put the base and veggies in a big pot
Then put the can of tomato and can of coconut milk in the pot
Season to taste!
(If you'd like to taste test just add the meat last after you've done it lmao)
Then turn the stove on to a little over medium.
Stir occasionally, with intention (my intentions are usually "this food is gonna taste so freaking good" 😂)
The food is done when the meat is all the way cooked/it's been boiling for over 5 minutes.
Serve with whatever rice you have (I'd recommend basmati or white and if you use white rice cooking it with a bit of butter and cardamom seeds makes it taste pretty close to basmati)
If you'd like to add bacon you can, though bacon can overpower everything so I'd cook it separately and add it after everything else is already done.
Some other ideas I thought of are pouring a bit of spice out on a plate or on my hand, drawing a similar with it and then putting it back into the jar and shaking it a bit or when I can be out taking sigils to the bottom of the jar.

Woodland Cake 🧚🍄
Tumblr media
This year, I wanted to go in a bit of a different direction and delve into the wondrous and magical (rather than the ghoulish and scary!). Here is a manifestation of my longing for a fairy occult to be introduced...
This cake depicts the enchanted diorama of a magical woodland scene.
However... if you look closely, you might see some real fairies flitting about this wonderful little world! Thumbalina in particular likes to sit on the head of toadstools and sew little skirts out of soft dandelion leaves.
No? Well, they are very small! (Vegetarian-Safe)
✨Spellcasters will get a special buff when they eat this cake! ✨

Rue
Rue, also called ruta or the Holy herb, is one I grow in my garden and keep in my witch’s herb cabinet. It’s exorcist and purification powers are strong. Use it in uncrossing work, protection magic, and to ward off evil spirits. Traditionally, it was used in Four Thieves Vinegar to ward off illness including the Black Plague. Be careful when handling, as it can irritate the skin in some people.. Chamomile
Ever had a cup of chamomile tea to help soothe a sore throat or calm your nerves in the evening? Chamomile is known for its medicinal qualities, but it’s also amazing magically! Chamomile is associated with the sun, so I use it often in abundance and health workings. It’s a great one to have in the witch’s herb cabinet.Rosemary
You’ve heard it once. You’ll hear it again. If you don’t have rosemary on-hand, you need to! It’s one of those all-purpose herbs that you can literally use for any kind of magic. I grow rosemary and make it into smudge bundles to cleanse my space. I also use it in herbal baths, magical meals, and natural hair care. Get you some rosemary, witch! Bonus: it’s super easy to grow!3. Bay
Many people have bay leaves right in their kitchen cabinet and don’t realize how powerful they are. In ancient times, they were used to increase psychic abilities and induce visions. Write a wish on a bay leaf and burn it. Add to spell bags and herbal offerings to Greek and Roman gods. I use it in my cooking often to enhance sauces and meat dishes. If you can grow your own bay tree, even better. The fresher the bay leaves the stronger the effect

Cicada Shells in (my personal) Magic
Tumblr media
© Kevin Ambrose
Disclaimer: This information is compiled from my own correspondences and what works for me.
Ever year in summertime, generally in August, I tend to find a lot of cicada shells. Not only are they a cool curio, but they’re also useful for my personal practice. I’d like to share some of what I use them for with you!
Correspondences:
Change
Letting go
Moving on / Leaving things behind
Personal growth
Weight being lifted
Change Powder Recipe: (Do not repost)
Useful for workings relating to change, growth, and motivation.
1-3 Cicada Shells
Ginger
Garlic
Lemon Pepper
Thyme
Combine all in a mortar & pestle and grind until the shells are broken down.
Cicada Shell Change Spell (Do not repost)
1 Cicada Shell
Small Piece of Paper
Pencil
Taglock
Wax
(Opt) Change Powder
(Opt) Herbs / oils / etc. you associate with change NOTE: Some oils might break down the paper and/or the shell, so be careful!
Write down on the paper what you want to change.
Roll or fold the paper small enough to fit into the cicada shell.
Carefully fit the paper and the taglock (& any powders, herbs, etc.) into the shell. Be careful, as the shells are brittle sometimes. If the shell breaks, don’t fret! Set it aside, it can be used to make change powder later. Just get another shell!
Once the paper is in the shell, seal the shell closed with the wax.
Keep where you like: personal altar, shelf, jewelry box, etc. Somewhere out of the way, where it won’t get hurt.
When the change has come to pass, dispose of the shell by burning it into ash.
