Talk Too Much
Tumblr media
Pairing: Remus Lupin x loud but shy!reader
Cw: college!au, fluff, kind of friends to lovers, obliviousness by Remus for a while, drinking (mentioned), smoking (cigarettes), I think that’s it
Wc: 2.2k
Tumblr media
You’re a loudmouth. Through and through. Of all your friends, you honestly think you and James would be the ones to never shut up or run out of words.
That is until Remus transfers into the school and infiltrates your friend group and suddenly you find the words can run out.
It’s not on purpose.
It seems to take you over purely by coincidence- the way your throat gets dry and your tongue seems too heavy to form the words you want to get out when Remus seems to be paying attention to only you. His gaze isn’t unwelcome- that’s the entire problem.
You like the feeling of being what he looks at, but it feels too good, too natural.
His honey eyes that are just lightly flecked with green, and his sharp jawline that’s adorned with silvery scar tissue that somehow makes him even more handsome.
He’s also always got a cigarette to fiddle with.
You’ve only seen him smoke twice, and had been mesmerised by the way his cheeks hollow and how he blows the smoke out and it seems to curl around him like it’s unable to obey his exhales in the opposite direction.
He reminds you in a way of Charlie Dalton and Stephen Meeks.
Fctional characters who Remus seems to emulate in his confidence (from Charlie) and a sort of confidence that’s self-assured yet mild at the same time (a mix of the two) and that in itself makes you fall a little more for him.
It’s overwhelming- this attraction to him. It confuses you and has you tripping over words in your head, far less for if you voiced them and all that was heard were clunky excuses for sentences.
What makes your sudden bouts of silence obvious is the fact that your friends have caught onto you.
It’s not like it’s exceptionally hard to decipher either- you’re not really good at being subtle.
You suspect James and Sirius are taking bets on when it’ll all be too obvious for everyone to walk around it and you desperately hope that it takes months while simultaneously hoping it takes only weeks.
Remus notices the way your body freezes when you realise you’ve caught his attention in your storytelling. In his mind, it’s because you don’t like him.
The way you shrink down and suddenly go silent the moment his eyes set upon you, the way you remain quiet even though he sees the way the corners of your mouth twitch with something to say.
He thinks he’s put you off somehow, especially when the second he’s gone a little ways away to get a drink or get his lunch, you seem to perk right back up and dive into storytelling once more.
It bothers him so much he asks Sirius about it- a mistake in itself, because Sirius only pokes fun at his friend.
“If you can’t realise why she goes silent the moment you stare at her Lupin, I can’t help you.” Sirius walks off leaving Remus even more perplexed, moreso when he hears Sirius says, “How’s he so thick for someone doing so many higher classes?”
It bewilders Remus for weeks, your always sudden vows of silence and then your equally sudden broken vows.
You’re all at a house party when it comes to an almost end.
You’re dressed pretty like always, a skirt that hugs all the places Remus longs to touch and a top that shows a sliver of your stomach and Remus catches a glimpse of jewellery hanging in your navel.
Your ears have a pair of hanging bat earrings, and your necklace is your standard one- he’s sure he’s never seen you without it.
You’re smiling and laughing with Marlene and Mary as you walk in. Remus wants to figure out why you dislike him so, he desperately wants to change your sour opinion of him. He’s going to at least try to do so tonight, if you can stomach looking at him.
“C’mon losers,” James’ loud voice is unmistakable, “We’re playing seven minutes in heaven.”
Remus is only approaching when he hears your teasing,
“Are we taking a blast back to Year 9 Jamie?”
James nods, “Yeah we are, and would you look at that you and Lupin are up first.” You’re sure there’s an evil little grin on James’ face when you look up and find Remus standing there in his soft brown sweater and jeans.
You can smell a little of the cigarette he’d smoked before coming in, but mostly you smell his citrus, pepper and amber cologne.
It’s heady and you swear your brain gets a little drunk on it.
“Get going you two,” Sirius teases and you sigh standing.
Remus’ mind is reeling, wondering how he’s going to get back at Sirius and James and the rest of your friends that he knows are in on this too.
Out of ear shot of your friends as you both go to the nearest room, Remus says lowly, “You don’t have to come in. I’ll just tell them we talked.”
You look up at him, eyes wide and Remus takes your surprise as a moment to admire you up close. He counts three beauty marks near your right eye, another on your neck just under your chin, and one on your nose. He’s distracted by you for a good long while that he doesn’t register you’ve spoken till he sees you walk into the room and gesture for him to follow.
It’s tense, a silence neither of you are sure how to break.
You think Remus is the most gorgeous man to be placed on the Earth, and Remus thinks you find him repulsive.
You watch Remus climb onto the bed, his long legs crossed at the ankles as his back presses against the headboard.
His casualness makes him look even more attractive and while you’re aware that you’re staring at him, you can’t make yourself stop.
‘Now or never,’ he thinks to himself before asking, “Have I offended you somehow?”
There it is, laid open and bare. The question hangs in the air, like the most tantalising yet foreign fruit you’ve ever seen.
“No?” It comes out like a question. One Remus takes as a chance to explain.
“It’s just that you’re always talking or telling a story with the others, and as soon as I’m near earshot you go silent and you can’t meet my eyes. So I’ve been thinking that maybe I’ve offended you, and I just wanted to say sorry for if I did- directly or indirectly.”
Remus’ attractiveness has been upped by a thousand- you’re sure all the love deities are having a laugh at your hopelessness.
You can’t meet his eyes now, even as you sit on the bed, so close to him that your biceps brush each other’s. “You haven’t offended me.”
Your voice is much softer than he’s ever heard it. Remus thinks this must be the softest you’ve ever spoken in your whole life.
“I haven’t?” he asks and you shake your head. Hazarding a glance at him, you find Remus leaning his shoulder down, his chin tucked as his eyes roam your frame.
“N-no,” your stutter gives you away slowly. “You’re just different from the others.” It’s not a clearer explanation, but the gears are turning in Remus’ head all the same and you can tell.
“Different how?” Remus doesn’t want to assume anything and that’s what causes the gears to come to a screeching halt.
You sigh, fiddling with the hem of your skirt. Remus has never seen you this unsure. Everything you do is with confidence and ease, like you were just made to walk, talk and move the way that you do. Like it was as easy as breathing.
Maybe it’s the way you take your time to consider your words, or the way you fiddle with your clothes or even the way your breathing changes as he leans just a bit closer that makes Remus smile a little.
“Will you look at me for a second, darling gwerthfawr?” The softness of his tone and the way his accent changes to something a little more melodic makes you more jelly-like than you usually are in his presence.
“Hm?” you hum and Remus smirks. Silvery slithers of scar tissue moving with his mouth and making him look wicked in a way that has you falling a little more in love with him.
“Why don’t you like looking or speaking to me?”
Remus doesn’t let you turn away, doesn’t let you tuck your cheek to your shoulder as you deliberate what you want to say. No, instead, the menace holds your chin and stares at you, holding your gaze and making your brain cloud even more as his cologne and attention wash over you.
“I like looking at you,” you admit shyly, the confession coming from your lips with hesitation. Like Remus will be repulsed by the fact that you like looking at him. “But you make me nervous.”
The words are suspended in the quiet of the room. All there is the muffled sounds of the party going on in the living room, and then yours and Remus’ breathing.
“I make you nervous?”
Sirius and James burst through the door, wide smiles that turn into shocked smirks at your positions.
“Well love birds, sorry but your seven minutes are up.” Remus staggers in letting your chin go, but when his fingers slacken, you leave the room, belly in knots in the almost wordy confession.
“So, how’d that go?” James asks him as you bend the corner- he’s sure that Lily and the other girls will be doing the same with you.
Remus flops on the bed, “Nothing that concerns you two gits.” His mind is racing with possibilities of finishing this conversation.
Sirius boos, “After all that planning to get you two in here and snogging each other’s faces off, that’s the thanks we get?” Walking out with James who’s shaking his head.
-
“But you make me nervous,” repeats in his head for days. He’s not dense by a mile, but Remus has a hard time figuring out what about him makes you nervous.
Sure he’s tall and a little serious, but he’s not as intimidating as he’d first thought Sirius was. Remus doesn’t want to turn to his friends, sure they’d tease him endlessly for being ‘thick,’ and then more than likely tell you and that would just make you even more nervous to look or speak to him at the very least.
What Remus does do, is consult the best person he knows that will give him impartial advice; books.
There’s always a book for any occasion, so he delves deep. Behavioural analysis books, books on people with social anxiety (which he doesn’t think you have because it’s just him that gets the selective mutism) and even at the end of it, he turns to romance novels. Something must stand out.
It comes to a head when Remus comes to the library when you’re busy typing away at your essay. You feel the presence, the warmth of his pepper and amber cologne as he pulls the seat out beside you.
Remus doesn’t say a word as he sits down. Instead, he pulls out his laptop and begins typing at the same essay prompt you’re working on.
You’re hyper aware of everything he’s doing- every breath, every sigh, every harsh backspace and enter.
Remus doesn’t seem to be half as affected as you are and it has you whispering, “What are you doing here, Remus?”
He hums, tapping his forefinger near the touchpad. He finishes his sentence and then turns to you. “Working on that essay due tomorrow.”
You frown, lips pulled downwards as you think of your next words. “You know what I mean, why are you sitting beside me?”
Remus sighs, head hanging off the back of the chair. “I want you to not be nervous around me anymore. I also want to know why I make you nervous.”
You swallow, mouth suddenly dry.
Remus turns to look at you and the amber lighting of the library makes his skin look sunkissed and supple. His honey and sage eyes blink owlishly at you, no sign of rushing you along for an answer.
That was something you had learnt while silently watching Remus. He’s always actually listening- not just listening to respond.
“Because,” you start, eyes darting all over his face in search of any insecurity in it. “You always seem so hyper focused on what it is I’m going to say next and it flusters me.”
Remus’ face morphs into a smile, his lazy expression from before melting away as his eyes warm to your embarrassed whisper.
“So it’s not dislike?” He asks, hands itching to tip your chin up like he had the other night.
“Are you going to make me say it out loud?”
“Poor girl,” he feels much more confident now. Now that he knows for sure that you don’t hate him and that you might actually like him as much as he likes you, he can be a little more flirty.
His hand reaches for your wrist, thumb running back and forth around your pulse.
You scowl, more than a little bashful to have exposed your feelings to Remus. He doesn’t mind.
No, Remus feels over the moon. Enough so that his hand moves from your wrist and his forefinger hooks under your chin so you’re making eye contact again.
“I like you too. Just as much,” it’s his turn for a whispered confession and you hope to all hell that he can’t feel the thundering of your pulse. “Maybe more.”
You feel your body buzz under his attention. Remus leans in closer, “Let me take you out after this? We can go somewhere quiet and have a proper ‘first’ conversation.”

James and Sirius and Remus and Lily and *takes a dramatic breath* you?
this one's for you @enamoredwithbella, thanks for sorting this idea out with me @unstablereader
poly!Marauders + Lily x shy!reader who is so smitten with them
CW: fem!reader, reader has hair long enough to be played with, reader is in Hufflepuff, swearing, consent because it's sexy AF
This was obviously a bad idea.
You’re not even sure how your friends managed to convince you to attend the Gryffindor party, but you swore to every deity it would never happen again.
There were too many people (most of whom you’d never spoken to before), it was too loud (songs you didn’t particularly care for), and the fifteenth time someone bumped into you nearly sent you over the edge.
“Whoa there, sweetheart.” A low voice commented as an arm quickly righted you from your nearly horizontal position. “Y’alright?”
You looked up to see the face of none other than Gryffindor quidditch captain James Potter beaming down at you.
You were ashamed of yourself for the way that smile made you feel.
“Erm, yup! Thanks.” You squeaked, quickly freeing yourself from James’ grasp so fast that you nearly knocked someone else over in your attempt at creating distance between you and the Headboy.
It wasn’t that you didn’t like James. On the contrary; you were rather smitten with him.
Him and his partners - which was nothing short of dense in simple terms.
But you couldn’t help the way you blushed when he held the doors open for you as you walked into classes, or the friendly smile and wave he’d shoot at you when he saw you on Prefect rounds.
You sort of wished he’d stop being so bloody nice to you; maybe then you’d be able to get over this crush that was never going to amount to anything.
But James was taken; three times over.
And what a sodding group they were.
Heart Throb of Hogwarts™ Sirius Black in his effortless style, his devil may care attitude, and his insatiable flirting. Being noticed by Sirius felt like your favourite rockstar singing a song written just for you.
And don’t even get you started on the enigma that is Remus Lupin; the Cassanova of Gryffindor tower. Everyone in your year (and likely the years below you) had at some point or another crushed hard on the quiet Marauder; but it really couldn’t be helped. He was tall, he was handsome, he was kind, and though he was far more quiet than his counterparts, the quips he shared with you never ceased to reduce you to a fit of laughter.
And gods, was Lily Evans ever beautiful. She was the total package; she was funny, outgoing, smart, and stunning. Looking at her even now with her long auburn hair as she threw her head back in laughter; so open and care free in her actions. You weren’t sure if you wanted to be her or being underneath-
No.
No. That was not a nice thing to think about someone who was in a committed relationship.
You let out a sigh as you zoned back into the fact that James still had one of his hands on your elbow and was smiling curiously at you.
“Thanks for the save! I really owe you one.” You chuckled awkwardly and nearly took out one of the Prewett twins in your haste to leave Potter’s vicinity.
Unfortunately, trouble seemed to be following you.
And by trouble, you meant Sirius Black.
“Damn, Hufflepuff!” He cheered as he moved a sultry gaze up and down your body appreciatively. “Give us a spin, dollface.”
You felt all the blood in your body migrate to your cheeks as you fought to keep your mouth from falling open.
Lily, the beautiful angel (or the evil temptress, depending on how you looked at it), swatted at Sirius from her perch on the arm of the chair her boyfriend was currently occupying.
“Down boy; you’re going to scare her away.” She teased with a smirk as she winked at you.
You felt momentarily grateful for her.
And then she spoke again.
“Then none of us will get to look at her.”
Fucking Helga, was it hot in here? They needed to open more windows; preferably one you could launch yourself out of right now, thank you very much.
“That’d be such a shame, really. Sorry doll, you don’t gotta spin - no one else here deserves to appreciate such a view.”
“Okay.” You squeaked and turned in search of your friends.
You know what? Fuck your friends; you were leaving with or without them.
They weren’t….flirting with you, were they?
Surely not.
Of course not.
What a ridiculous thing to think.
But…it certainly felt like they were flirting with you.
Maybe one more glance?
Just as you were about to approach the portrait hole, you turned for one more look at the objects of your affection and your current tormentors and - yup, sure enough - Sirius, Lily, and now James were all standing there smiling at you.
They were watching you leave?!
Okay time to go, that is enough nonsense for one day.
You spun and collided with something tall and solid which thankfully caught your arms as you all but ricocheted off of them.
“Hey there, dove. Where’re you headed in such a hurry?”
Please for the love of gods, don’t tell me…
But of course, you looked up to see the face of one Remus Fucking Lupin smirking down at you.
“You lot are everywhere.” You whispered in awe. The bastard only chuckled in response.
“Come on you guys! We’re going to start a game of truth or dare!” Lily called over to…you (?) and Remus.
“Well, we wouldn’t want to miss that, would we?” Remus murmured lowly into your ear as he steered you towards the growing circle congregating around the various chairs and sofas littering the common room.
And listen, you’re not particularly proud that you were so placid in Remus’ man handling you.
But in your defence…
In your defence, Remus was man handling you.
And to your absolute horror, he plopped you down beside Lily on a large chair that was not quite large enough for two people.
You tried to swallow your heart back down which was attempting to escape via your mouth as you became hyper focused on the fact that Lily sodding Evans was pushed up against you none too casually and- Merlin’s tits, was she playing with your hair!?
You pretended to pay attention as a few rounds passed by; your friend being dared to give you a lap dance being the most brazen thing to have taken place.
Until it got to the Marauders.
Marlene dared Sirius to strip down to his boxers for a whole round which he was all but too eager to do, apparently. Meaning he got to ask the next person.
“Moony!”
Remus smiled down at his lap before he looked over at one of his boyfriend’s mischievously.
“I dare you to kiss the prettiest girl here.”
You’re not necessarily proud of the way your heart plummeted at that; this is what you had been telling yourself all night. They were taken.
No matter if they complimented you.
No matter if they caught you as you fell.
No matter if they snuggled up to you on a chair designed for one.
No matter if one of them made you feel like you leaving the party early would have been truly devastating.
No matter.
“That’s impossible; there’s two of them.” Remus said quickly, causing your heart to ache for Lily.
Who even says that when their girlfriend is sitting right here!?
You kept your head down as the party all ooooh’ed and aawwwweee’d.
James let out a funny high pitched laugh as if he were an over excited kid on Christmas morning. “Guess you’ll have to kiss them both then.”
You really should have left when you had the chance; you weren’t sure you could watch.
It was their business if they wanted to include another, but that didn’t mean you had to like it.
“Or they can kiss each other; I think I’d enjoy that just as much.”
“Sounds good to me.” Lily said as she stood; the space she once inhabited felt cold and vacant without her.
“Well? Come on then?” She said as she grabbed your arm.
“What?”
“Come with me.” She said again, wiggling your arm within your grasp, and who were you to deny her, really?
Like a well trained dog you followed her obediently over to where Remus sat before she all but shoved you into his lap.
“You seem like the fidgety type; maybe Rem can help with that, hm?” She said as she shot a wink at Remus over your shoulder.
His arms wrapped possessively around your waist as he rested his chin on the junction between your neck and shoulder.
“Is it okay if she kisses you, pretty girl?”
You had no time to be absolutely horrified at the pathetic little keening sound that escaped your lips as you looked up at the red-head now towering over you.
“What do you say, gorgeous?” And though her emerald eyes did shine with some mischief, you could see she was earnest; this was your choice.
“Okay.” You whispered barely loud enough for you to hear yourself over the hammering of your heart.
“Yeah?” She whispered as she knelt in front of you.
“Yeah.” You agreed.
And you only got to see the soft, hopeful smile that adorned her lips for but a moment before her hands were on either side of your face and she was pressing her soft lips to yours.
It could have been hours or centuries but it was also all too soon before she was pulling away from you; a proud smile on her lips though her cheeks were a similar colour to her hair.
You became aware of the hooting and hollering going on around you as Remus’ chest began to vibrate in laughter.
“Beautiful.” He murmured - likely more to himself than to you, but you heard it all the same.
“Do I get a turn?!” James shouted before Sirius roughly grabbed him by the waist and planted him down on his lap.
“Not before me, Jamie.” He snickered as he shot you a wink.
The audacity of a man to still be so confident sitting in nothing but his boxers.
You tried to hide behind your hands though it was all for naught as Remus made a theatrical cooing sound and pulled you further into his lap until you were all but cradled in his arms.
“Maybe without an audience next time, hm?” He asked you as he brushed some hairs away from your forehead.
Not trusting yourself to speak (or to even make direct eye contact with the bloke currently cuddling you in your lap), you nodded with your face still hidden.
“Way to go babe.” James said as Lily went to join the two boys on their loveseat. “You were so good, we’ll even get a next time!”

reader falling asleep against remus?? maybe they aren’t dating yet but are oblivious idiots in love with each other and he freaks out !!
pillow
summary you fall asleep on remus at a party.
content remus lupin x fem!reader, she/her
"Mate, you've gotta be the worst pillow ever. Relax a bit," Sirius says to Remus who's gone stiff underneath you.
"I should wake her up, right? Like, it was an accident. She's gonna think I'm weird for not waking her up," Remus panics, trying to stay as still as possible.
"Hey, woah," Sirius puts his hands out to calm his friend like he's a spooked animal, "She wouldn't have fallen asleep on you if she didn't trust you, right?"
He takes a breath and looks down at you. He remembers how much he stupidly likes you and relaxes a bit. "Right," he says under his breath.
"Good," Sirius sighs.
He's not entirely sure how you've done it. It's loud at this party and the two seater isn't the most comfortable place to be. He then thinks about how if it were him in your position, he'd do the exact same thing. He trusts you enough to fall alseep on, despite the circumstances. He's sure his are different to yours, though.
He let's you get comfortable where you've got your cheek smooshed against his shoulder and hopes his sweater isn't too scratchy. Your lips are parted in the slightest and your nose keeps twitching. He remembers how tired you'd told him you were and hopes this moment of rest is enough to help until you have to go home.
He really wanted to talk to you tonight, maybe, if he'd found enough courage, he would've asked you on a date. But he's just as content with letting you use him to sleep comfortably. He envies it really, because he could also use a power nap.
He tries his best to keep you alseep, a hand around your shoulder to keep you shielded from rowdy partygoers but knows it's inevitable that you'll wake. The room starts to fill more as the sun falls behind the horizon and he feels you start to stir.
You lift yourself from his side and blink yourself awake. You look around the room confused, the cutest pout on your lips, before you catch Remus to your side. Then, you startle.
"Oh my god," you say, and hold your hands to your cheeks, "Remus, I'm so sorry!" You start to come into yourself and can't stop smiling. You duck your face into your shoulder and try to act unaffected, though you fail.
"It's okay," he says, and because while you were asleep, he'd swelled with courage, he wraps an arm back around your shoulders and encourages you back into his side. He's not forceful with it but you snuggle back into him like it's second nature and he melts. "I kind of liked it."
"Oh," you say under your breath, but because you're so close he can hear you. He treasures this position dearly, because most of the time you're too shy to speak as loudly as you should.
"You're cute when you sleep," he says, pushing it really, he expects to run out of confidence soon. "It's too loud in here, but I think you were snoring."
You groan and cover your face with your hands, bubbling with embarrassed giggles. "Stop it," you say, flustered and airy, "Was I really?"
"No, I'm kidding, sweetheart," he laughs, nudging your shoulder with his own, "It's okay, you were fine."
"Good," you say, looking at him through the parts in your fingers. "At least I didn't drool, I do that at home sometimes." You take your hands from your face but you still seemed flustered.
"Really?" he laughs.
"Yeah."
He doesn't stop himself from saying, "Well, I'll have to see that one day." He doesn't regret it when you start to roar with laughter.
"Are you inviting yourself back to my bed, Lupin?" you ask through pretty giggles.
"Is that okay?"
You tuck your head back into his side and try to hold back your laughter. He thinks you're trying to hide your flustered face. "Of course, it is."

heyy :)) would you maybe write something for remus with a reader that sometimes goes nonverbal?? i would really appreciate it, no pressure tho<33
Hi! I had to read up on this a bit, so I apologize for any inaccuracies. Thanks for requesting lovely!
cw: reader gets overstimulated
Remus Lupin x fem!reader ♡ 767 words
Shamefully, Remus doesn’t notice until you’re asked a question. Sirius has been on a rant about the injustice of him being expected to work while there’s a concert he wants to go to next week (he’s used up all his personal days, and his manager has finally caught on to his strategy of pretending to have diarrhea anytime he wants out of a shift) for the past twenty minutes, and James, sweetheart that he is, has tried to bring you into the conversation by asking if you’ve been to any shows you liked.
Remus looks to you for your answer, thinking you might say something about the small concert in the park he’d taken you to before you’d started dating (or started dating officially, that is. Remus had been flirting with you for weeks before you caught on), but you only smile with one side of your mouth and nod. James takes it for shyness and moves on.
Remus feels for your hand under the table intertwining your fingers with his as he ducks towards your ear. “You alright, dove?”
You nod again, neglecting to talk as you rest the side of your head against his shoulder. Remus sweeps his thumb across the back of your hand pensively. You usually don’t have much trouble with his friends, but they are particularly loud tonight. All overeager, talking over each other and making noisy, boisterous sounds whenever one of them makes a joke or a baiting remark. The tables around you aren’t much tamer, everyone in the restaurant almost needing to shout to be heard. He supposes he should have guessed earlier that it could be overwhelming for you.
“Do you want to go?” he murmurs.
You tilt your head back to look at him, your eyes searching. Uncertain.
“I’m ready to leave if you are,” Remus amends. Then you rub your lips together, nodding. “Yeah? Let’s go, lovely girl.”
He stands, moving so you can slip out of the booth. Your table wails and jeers about you leaving so early, and Remus sets a hand on your back as he fields the complaints, leading you away. He’s not entirely ungrateful for the refreshing quiet as you step outside, either.
Your eyes are on him as you walk to the car. Remus raises an eyebrow at you.
“Do you have your pad with you?”
You look hesitant, but nod.
“Is there something you want to tell me?”
You frown, digging the small notepad out of your back pocket. Remus passes you a pen. He unlocks his car and opens the door for you, going around to his own seat while you scribble on the page. Once he starts the engine to get the heat going, you nudge the notepad against his leg.
He takes it, reading silently. Are you upset that I made us leave? We can go back if you want.
He suspects his incredulity shows on his face before he schools his expression into gentleness, looking up at you. “Of course I’m not upset,” he says, making sure to hold your gaze when you shy a bit, self-conscious. “I was ready to leave too, but besides that I wouldn’t want to stay if you weren’t having a good time. It’s never a bother.” He sets the notepad back in your lap, taking your hand in his. “Understand?”
You nod, and the bashful little smile you give him makes Remus’ heart feel too big for his chest.
“Good.” He imbues his voice with exaggerated sternness, rewarded when your cheek dimples. “Glad we’re clear on that. Is there anything else you need? You hardly touched your dinner, do you wanna get something before we go home?”
You stick your tongue in your cheek. Remus recognizes the hesitance and releases your hand, pushing the pen back into it.
“Write it down, sweetheart.”
You sigh as though defeated. Your eyes squint a bit as you write, stopping for a second before finishing and passing the notepad back.
Can we drive through somewhere? I don’t want to have to talk to anyone.
“Yeah, easy.” Remus slides it back to you, shifting the car into reverse and backing out of his parking spot. “Do you feel like a milkshake? We could go by the place just down our street, or whatever you—” You nod eagerly, and he smiles. “Yeah? Alright, just write down your order, okay? I’ll read it out when we get there.” You laugh your ass off when Remus unthinkingly reads your whole order aloud to the drive-thru worker, including the note at the end that says Thanks handsome, love you.

sad beginnings,
Tumblr media
summary - everyone sees you as this weird and crazy ravenclaw. everyone except remus and sirius.
pairing - ravenclaw!reader x wolfstar
word count - ~2.5k
tw: angst | no happy ending (yet) | bullies | blood | fight | self deprecation | she pronouns used
You thought breakfast would be better than a bowl of porridge, but that’s what you get for waking up late.
You’d overslept on your alarm clock by 45 minutes and were now paying the consequences by eating disgusting gruel for breakfast. There wasn’t even any honey to drizzle on top, thanks to some older Ravenclaws hogging it for their pancakes.
Half the tables were empty, as people started to head off for their first lessons of the day.
You had potions in half an hour.
Potions was one of your favourite lessons of the day, not because you liked the subject - in fact you despised it - but because you got to secretly crush on two of the prettiest boys in school.
Remus Lupin and Sirius Black.
They were currently the only group of Gryffindors still at their table, making a rather loud ruckus as they stood up from the table to leave.
James was teasing Lily about something and Sirius and Remus couldn’t stop laughing over it. Lily pretended to be offended and fake punched Sirius for laughing at her, only to have Remus lean down only slightly and kiss Sirius’ clothed arm all better.
It didn’t help that the two boys you would of course have a heavy crush on would already be in a well established relationship.
I mean, they were the prettiest boys in the school and they were opposites to each other so their relationship made perfect sense.
You just wished you had gotten there with one of them first. But who? You admired them both the same.
Both of them had—
“Oi, Y/N!” A Ravenclaw in your year, named Philip, shouted from down the table, making your porridge slide off your spoon and splat against the table.
You looked towards where Philip and his band of quite mean friends sat.
“Daydreaming about boys you could never get, again?!” Philip laughed, causing others around him to as well.
You didn’t reply. You knew better than to reply. Just keep your head down and trouble should go away.
Your eyes drifted from Philip over to where the Gryffindors had nearly exited the Hall, only Sirius and Remus had stopped just shy of leaving.
They were stood talking to each other.
“Who is it this time Y/N? Hm?” Darcy, one of Philip’s friends teased.
“Remember when Y/N tried to date Isaac? As if she could ever date him.” Someone else joked.
You looked back down at your porridge, still listening to them but trying your best to block them out.
Looking at your breakfast made you think about Isaac. He was just as bland and boring. Until he wanted to have sex with you and you really didn’t want that, well then he became an absolute prick. Started spreading horrible rumours about you, showing his true colours.
Isaac started spreading stories about how you tried to come onto him, only to deny him. How you had been weird and crazy the entire night, when in fact it was the opposite.
Now everyone thinks you’re weird, a prude and a bitch.
One of the reasons you have no friends.
Isaac had managed to isolate you and Philip and his cronies had taken advantage of that.
“Think she was looking at Remus and Sirius.” Someone snickered, making you love uncomfortably.
“No way! Y/N has hots for the dogs,” They thought they were funny, “Is that true, Y/N? You want Remus and Sirius to be your little boyfriends?”
They all laughed, until they went silent.
“You alright, Phil? Can I call you Phil?”
Your head shot up to see Sirius leaning down over the bench next to Philip, resting his palms on the table and glaring him down. Remus stood right behind him.
Your heart rate increased at the sight of them magically appearing.
Did they hear? Did they know? Were they in on the sad and pathetic joke?
“It’s just Philip.” Philip gulped.
“Great, Phil.” Sirius smiled, but it definitely wasn’t genuine. “We heard your filthy mouth speak our names and, well, I for one don’t like pricks speaking about me or my boyfriend behind me back. So keep your goddamn mouth shut or I’ll hex you back to Year 1. Okay?”
“Uhhh…”
“I said, okay?” Sirius asked again.
“Yes, yes!” Philip stuttered.
“Good.” Sirius moved back to stand up.
It was lovely that Sirius had come over here to defend his boyfriend like that. You craved someone having the kindness, and definitely the courage, to stand up for you like that.
You watched as Sirius took Remus’ hand and you wondered what that felt like.
You could imagine Sirius’ hands being quite rough and Remus’ hands being calloused, but both still having a sense of softness to them. They’d both be very grounding and warm to hold on to.
Then they both walked your way.
You quickly started to eat your porridge again, keeping your head down. You don’t think either of them would make a scene with you, but maybe they’d caught on to your gazes and blushing and they’d had enough.
You thought you were subtle but maybe you’d been far more obvious than you intended. You cursed yourself, but only knew it was a matter of time before you made a fool of yourself.
Maybe they weren’t even walking towards you. Why would they? They didn’t know you, except for your name maybe.
But then you saw them stop in front of the bench on the other side of you.
You looked up to find them both smiling warmly down at you. You gulped, thinking the worst.
“You have potions next right, Y/N?” Remus asked kindly.
He did know your name…
And he knew your timetable…
“Yes?” You asked, cautiously.
“You want to walk over with us? We’re heading there now.” Remus asked.
You were a little gobsmacked that they were asking you to do something with them.
No one has asked you to do anything in a very long time, even something as simple as being asked to walk to class with them. So this was a huge deal to you.
“Really? I mean, sorry, I wouldn’t want to intrude.”
“Intrude?” Sirius laughed, “Never. C’mon.” He kindly smiled and you nervously got up from the table.
You picked up your robe and wand.
“Are you sure?” You asked to make sure a second time.
“Y/N, if you don’t hurry up then Sirius is probably going to pick you up and carry you there himself and then I’m going to have to deal with him moaning about crippling back ache later on… Oh my God… That want be implying anything about your weight… Um… Should I just stop?” Remus rambled and looked to Sirius for help.
“You really should.”
And you smiled.
Genuinely smiled, for what felt like the first time in a long time.

The hallways were starting to become busy.
People moving from morning time to lesson time, especially the first years with their overpacked bags and reckless running through the corridors to get to their lessons on time.
One darted past you, causing you to wobble. Luckily Remus was behind you and he put his hand on the lower part of your back to balance you carefully.
“Thank you.” You said, whilst trying really hard not to blush.
You failed to notice Remus blushing too as you turned back around. You definitely didn’t fail to notice the way Remus kept his hand on your lower back, helping you weave through the halls.
With two of the most popular guys in school, you didn’t realise how easy it was to actually manoeuvre through the corridors.
You’d spent too much time being infatuated with the time that Remus and Sirius were giving you, though, that you’d forgotten your potions book.
You stopped short, feeling the boys bump into the back of you abruptly.
“Bloody… Are you alright Y/N?” Sirius asked.
“I’ve forgotten my potions book. I’ll catch up with you, I just need to run to get it.” You turned to say to them, feeling slightly small underneath both their pretty eyes looking at you.
“Here, just take mine.” Sirius offered.
“No.” Remus swatted his hands, “Another “forgotten” book and you are going to get detention.”
“Oh screw that.” Sirius rolled his eyes.
“Y/N, take mine instead.” Remus insisted.
“What?” This time Sirius hit Remus’ hands away, “And mess with your perfect record? I don’t think so. Y/N…”
“Hey, listen.” You chuckled at the sight of them arguing… over you. It felt like the most surreal situation. “I’m just going to get my book, okay? Then none of us will be in trouble. I’ll see you in a few minutes.”
You smiled at them in thanks, before darting around and away from them.
After you’r turned the corner, Remus hit Sirius over the head with his textbook.
“Ow! What the…” Sirius rubbed the back of his head.
“Really? You were about to give yourself a detention?” Remus chuckled, knowing exactly that was what Sirius was about to do and why.
“For Y/N? Absolutely.” Sirius smirked.
Remus shook his head and kissed Sirius’ cheek in admiration, before taking his hand and leading him off to potions.

As you rooted through your belongings in your dorm, you hummed to yourself with content.
You felt ten times lighter than you ever had felt before and all because the two pretty boys you’ve been admiring for so long had looked right back at you. They’d even gone as far as walk with you to potions.
Sirius was willing to get a detention for you and Remus was willing to break his golden reputation. That was flattery of their highest form.
You finally found your book, before pivoting to leave your dorm.
Only to find Darcy standing there with a cat in her arms, looking malicious as ever.
“O-oh Darcy. Hello.” You said, losing your hum and your smile with one look at her.
“Cut the pleasantries. You made us look like fools at breakfast in front of Sirius and Remus, you foul witch.” Darcy spat at you.
“I’m sorry, I never meant for that to happen.”
You felt yourself caving in on yourself, becoming that shelter of a shy person that these horrible people made you.
“And you think an apology will make it all better?”
“I don’t know.” You lowered your head.
“Well it doesn’t.” She moved towards you and you gulped in fear of her. She’d pulled at your hair and enchanted curses on you before, so you were terrified of what she might do now. Especially when it was just you two here.
“I’m sorry.” You looked up at her, hating that she could probably see the fear in your eyes.
“Show us up like that again and you’ll leave with more than just a scratch.”
“A scratch?” You asked, but maybe you shouldn’t have.
Before you knew what was happening Darcy’s cat attacked your face, clawing at your cheek with one powerful hit. The cat screamed what sounded like a war cry and you screamed in pain.
Your head turned to the side, leaving the cat’s claws to drag slightly down your cheek before letting go. You didn’t reveal your face again until you heard the door slam shut.
It only took a minute for you to delicately touch your cheek and see the blood for the pain to come flying in. You cried as you sat on your bed, cupping your cheek from dripping blood everywhere with one hand and the other hand resting on your forehead as you came to terms with what just happened.
You’d just been attacked for trying to apologise for something you hadn’t been in control of.
Your tears ran down your cheek and stung as they ran into the cuts on your cheek.
Walking to the little mirror hanging up on the wall, you looked in to see yourself. There were three lines scraped down your once bare cheek, running from just under your eye to resting on your jawline.
You cried some more, completely getting lost in the self loathing, before rushing around the dorm to find some healing lotion and tissues.
It took you ten minutes to clean up the mess on your face, and another five for the bleeding to calm down. It was an angry red mess, but you had to get to potions before the class ended.
You breathed out through your mouth a shaky breath, dabbing under your eyes with the sleeve of your jumper to wipe away the tears.
“You’re okay.” You said to yourself in the mirror. “You’re okay.”
You found that talking moved the cuts on your face and they stung even worse. So no talking it was. Brilliant.
“You’re okay.” You reminded yourself one last time.
But your words felt far from convincing.

can I request “tucking a strand of hair behind your partner's ear” with remus lupin? maybe him and shy!reader’s very first kiss?
thank you for requesting <3 so sorry it's taken me such a hefty chunk of time to get this written, hope you like it!
remus lupin x shy!reader, 2.7k
You were never really sure how to act around Remus. You were comfortable around him, of course. But it was hard for you to figure it out because you liked him. You liked him so much it scared you a little bit, because you’d never fancied anyone as much as you did him.
He was kind and funny and smart, loyal to a fault and protective over those he cared for. And sure, sometimes he could be a bit grumpy and rough around the edges, but that was what made him Remus.
Remus, who enjoyed your personal space as much as you did, it seemed, with the way he was always close to you.
Whether it was his long fingers intertwined with yours as you made your way through town, or one of his arms over your shoulders to whisper a snarky remark reserved only for your ears about how the overly dramatic story Sirius was in the middle of telling was a boldfaced lie the long haired boy had concocted to impress one of Lily’s mates whilst you were out with everyone.
Remus, who bought you flowers because they were pretty and thought you would like them even though the pollen sent him into sneezing fits that required him to sit across the room from them at all times.
You said you’d rather him not get them at all if his allergies were that bad, but he always shook his head instantly, claiming that sneezing and sniffling was nothing compared to how brightly you beamed when you spotted the bundle in his hand.
Remus, who wasn’t perfect by any means, but he was perfect for you.
You still hadn’t quite grasped the concept that he liked you the same way yet. It seemed like a dream that you never dared question because you didn’t want to wake up from it. Who would want to wake up from the bliss that was being the one person Remus fancied?
Maybe that’s why you hadn’t quite mustered up the courage to kiss him yet. There were a few times you’d come close, forgetting everything and letting his lips get within an inch of your own before chickening out and turning away at the last second. You were worried he’d find your reasoning for it silly.
It wasn’t that you didn’t want to kiss him. You really wanted to, but your inner voice won out every time, that stupid little voice in the back of your mind telling you he’d surely lose interest in you once he figured out you had no idea how to kiss someone. He’d know you’d never kissed anyone immediately, and he’d come to his senses and move along when he still could.
Part of you thought Remus was far too fond of you to be that harsh, but there was no beating that voice in your head. You didn’t want to jeopardize the good thing you had going with him.
He never questioned why you always seemed to pull away from him at the last minute. If anything he took it in stride, shifting his focus to anything else so you wouldn’t feel like you were putting him out.
You should’ve known his curiosity and even his frustration would come to head at some point. One day, he’d try again and finally voice his confusion.
You’d fallen asleep in his lap on this quite nice spring afternoon, after spending the morning out on a walk in one of the nearby gardens, not on purpose but rather a result of the warmth emanating from his body and the worn sofa you’d both collapsed on upon returning to your flat.
Truly, you didn’t know you’d drifted asleep until Remus coughed. It was quiet, but loud enough to stir you from your slumber, blinking awake slowly until you realized your cheek was pressed against his thigh.
Stifling a rather large yawn, you shifted onto your back, stretching your limbs out until your joints popped and your vision cleared. When it did, you zeroed in on Remus above you, waiting for you to notice him.
“You snore a little bit, did you know that?” He said coolly, cocking his head.
You pushed his head away from you playfully, fighting the grin threatening to overtake your lips at the sight of him peering down at you. “You were watching me sleep?”
“Very hard to read when I’ve got a foghorn in my lap.” He tutted, but the sticky sweet smile gracing his handsome face told you he was anything but annoyed.
His scar stretched when he smiled like that, the jagged white marring his face rounding out the apple of his cheek as it raised. Remus tended to be self conscious about it, but less so when your fingers came up to trace along it. Not intended to bring attention to it in any way, but to reinforce that it wasn't something that deterred you from him. He felt better about it after.
“Sorry.” You said sheepishly. In your scramble to an upright position, you completely missed the way Remus deflated as you moved away. “Good book?”
“Fine, I suppose. Good sleep?”
“Fine, I suppose.” You teased, bumping his shoulder with yours.
“Cheeky.”
“Been spending too much time with you.”
“Is that it?” He huffed out an amused chuckle, letting his hand fall onto your knee. You didn’t dare react, fighting the urge to allow your leg to bounce even when Remus’ fingers began to circle lightly. “What else about me is rubbing off on you?”
“Dunno. What do you think?”
“What do I think? I think…you don’t need any of my bad habits mucking you up, because you’re perfect the way you are.” Remus murmured. You averted your gaze from his, avoiding the softness in his expression in favor of focusing hard on a loose thread from your sock. He was being nice, like he always was, and you didn’t know how to react, like you always did. “Though an overthinker, maybe. Don’t dwell on it too long, love, you’ll only end up hurting yourself.”
“I don’t overthink.” You protested rather meekly, pouting. Remus made a disbelieving sound in response, lilting and a little bit teasing, but soft and fond nonetheless. He reached out, bumping his knuckles against your chin affectionately, letting his fingers travel a little further to push the hair away from your face.
Your skin felt like it was on fire when he brushed against your ear, even more so when his hand came back to settle at the curve of your jaw, thumb sweeping along the apple of your cheek tenderly. Almost too tenderly, with the way he was looking at you too.
Part of you wanted to steer the conversation in another direction, but you managed to push the feeling aside, wanting to see maybe, just maybe, if he moved to kiss you this time, you wouldn’t shy away.
Remus moved slowly like he didn’t want to spook you, getting closer and closer still.
Five inches. Four, three, two—no, you couldn’t do it. You shifted abruptly, teetering back on your palms under the guise of losing your balance.
Remus frowned, blinking slowly. His hand dropped from where it had been against your cheek, falling against his knee almost dejectedly. “Do you not like me?”
“Of course I like you,” You insisted. Obviously he wouldn’t believe you. Even you wouldn’t have believed you. Not at all to your surprise, he looked thoroughly unconvinced, so you tried again. “I do.”
“Right.” He said. His brows drew together in the middle, one hand coming up to scratch at the back of his neck. “Right, you say that, but every time I get close to you, or I try to kiss you, or god forbid I try to pay you a compliment, you always pull away. I haven’t said anything before, because I figured you’d clue me in when you were ready, but you haven’t.”
“Rem…” You sighed, drawing your knees towards your chest. His shoulders lifted up by his ears, dropping into a resigned shrug as he searched your face for any semblance of an explanation.
“Is it me? Am I misreading this whole thing? I don’t—I don’t know what’s happening.” He was frustrated, you could tell. Frustrated, confused, maybe even a little disappointed, and with good reason. “I know you don’t like opening up, but it’s me, love. You can talk to me, right?”
You twisted your lips to the side, suddenly feeling all kinds of embarrassed. Remus thought you didn’t like him because of the way you acted around him. You wouldn’t lose him because of what you were doing; you’d more likely lose him because of what you weren’t doing.
Things needed to change, now, and you were the only one who could change them.
“I don’t know what I’m doing, Remus.”
“Does anyone really know what they’re doing?”
“No I mean, like, I’ve never been in a relationship before. I don’t know what to do around you, how to act. So I just…”
“Shut down?” He offered, not malicious in any way, but understanding. Remus was always just that. Understanding. You nodded wordlessly. “That’s the thing about relationships. There’s no single right way to be in one. You’ve just got to figure out what works best for the both of you. We need to figure things out, but we can’t do that if we don’t communicate.”
You sighed, letting your chin dip towards your chest. “I’m sorry, Remus.”
“Oh, you.” He said fondly, maybe even a little bit sadly. “You’ve not got anything to be sorry about at all. Now we know where to start.” His palm skated over your knee, up, up, up until he was met with soft skin against the rougher pads of his fingers. Goosebumps raised at his touch and he smiled softly again, not-so-secretly pleased he could elicit that kind of reaction from you. “You’re doing fine, love. Thank you for telling me.”
“There’s something else too. Why I haven’t let you kiss me yet.”
“Why?”
“I’ve never kissed anyone before.” You mumbled, voice muffled by the sleeve of your jumper.
He squinted at you, leaning in closer, as if somehow heard you wrong. “Come again?”
“I’ve never kissed anyone before.” You repeated, as loud as you could muster. “I was afraid you’d leave me when you found out. That you’d think it was weird and off putting and you wouldn’t like me anymore.”
Remus blinked at you, long and slow. It sure was something to process, you knew that.
It’s not like you were expecting him to understand or come to terms with your reasons right away. You’d been battling with these thoughts every time you were with him, even more when you weren’t. This was brand new information for him.
What you definitely weren’t expecting him to do was snort. Your nose wrinkled in immediate offense, even more so he cracked a smile.
“You really thought I’d leave you because you’ve never kissed anyone?”
You scowled, cheeks burning hot with embarrassment as you folded your arms over your chest stiffly. “Well now that you’re the one saying it out loud, it sounds stupid.”
“It is!”
“Don’t be mean, Remus!!” You huffed. You angled yourself away from him to stare angrily out the window, brows furrowed tightly, shoulders hunched.
Before you could brood too much, his large hands spun you right back around to face him again. He wasn’t smiling at you the way he was before, but you could still see the leftover twinkle in his eyes and it definitely didn’t make you feel better.
“You’re being silly, love. You really thought I’d leave you because you haven’t kissed anyone before?” He repeated, ducking to catch your gaze with your every attempt to avoid his. You turned away from him, he chased after you, like some weird game of cat and mouse.
Eventually you grew tired of it and you looked him square in the eye, jaw set. “Yes I did, and I’d appreciate it if you stopped saying it like that.” The corners of Remus’ mouth quirked up into a tiny smile. “Don’t you dare laugh at me, Lupin.”
“Oh, now we’re on a last name basis?” He replied, brows raised in amusement. “I’m not going to laugh at you. I think you’re being ridiculous, but I like it.”
“Ridiculous is even worse than silly!” You spluttered, losing your nerve from before at the risk of sounding whiny. You’d stomp your foot to bring your point across even more, but that seemed a little too dramatic for the situation. Settling for a deep frown, you scowled at your boyfriend, moving to rise off the couch.
“No, wait—I’m sorry, I’ll be serious now, I promise.” He insisted, holding his hands up palm out in front of him. “No more poking fun, you have my word.”
“Fine.”
“Look, I don’t care that you’ve never snogged anyone before. In fact, that’s good news for me—means you won’t be able to tell if I’m absolutely shit at it.”
“I thought you were being serious now.” You grumbled.
“I am! I am. Y/N, I…” Remus hesitated, raking a hand back through his hair. “I’ve never felt the way I do for you with anyone else before. And I haven’t really, erm, been with a lot of people, so this, with you, it's special to me.”
“Me too.”
“I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’m sorry if it feels like I’m going too fast, or pushing you into something you’re not comfortable with. You can always tell me to fuck off and I’ll understand.”
“It doesn’t.” You said quickly, shaking your head. Still, he looked skeptical, bordering on guilty. “You don’t. You’ve never made me feel uncomfortable. It’s actually the opposite. I…I feel more like myself when I’m around you. You make me feel safe, Remus. To be who I am, to say what I want. I just—I’m still trying to figure out what that means, and sometimes it makes me unsure of myself.”
You weren’t even sure where all the words were coming from, but as soon as they left your mouth you knew they were true.
“I know the feeling.” He murmured, letting you take his hand in yours. His thumb rubbed along your knuckles absentmindedly. “For what it’s worth, I reckon you’re bloody great. And I’m glad you feel safe with me. That you feel like you can be yourself. Means I’ve done something right.”
“You’ve done everything right, Remus. I’m the one who can’t get over myself and be who you deserve.”
“Hey, hey, stop that.” He chided, giving a firm shake of his head. “You’re already everything I deserve and more.”
“You’re too sweet to me.” You frowned, leaning into him. His arm swept across your back, fingers curling around your shoulder to bring you even closer, a swift move punctuated with a kiss to the top of your head. You angled yourself so you were looking up at him, ready to gauge his reaction to your next question. “Can you…kiss me now?”
Remus’ brows flew high. “Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
“We don’t have to if you don’t want to. I can wait, I promise. I—”
“Will you shut up and kiss me, Remus?”
Remus lifted your chin with two fingers, rich coffee eyes searching your own for any ounce of hesitation and coming up empty, before closing the gap between you swiftly, but not rushed. Firm, but not aggressive. He kissed you much like the way he acted around you.
Even though you were more or less just following his lead, kissing Remus came to you easier than you thought it would. His hand slid up to the back of your neck. Yours bunched into the front of his jumper like you’d done it before, subconsciously tugging him closer until he’d backed you up against the opposite armrest of the couch, one arm braced on either side of you to hold himself up.
His body blanketed yours, lips leading to the edge of something more before he pulled away. He studied you again, reveling in the dazed look in your eyes as you both caught your breath. “How was that for your first kiss?”
“Mm, good,” You hummed, still a bit taken aback (in the best possible way).
“Top marks?”
“Absolutely.”
“Alright if I go for extra credit?”
“Please.”
Now that you’d finally managed to kiss Remus, you didn’t want to stop. You honestly didn’t think he’d mind if you never stopped. You certainly wouldn’t.

It wasn’t uncommon for you and Lily to be gossiping late at night in your dorm, however, it was uncommon for Remus to be stopping by to borrow a book this late at night. Usually he would wait until the morning, but something pulled him towards your dorm.
Your dorm room door was slightly ajar and he could hear the soft whispers and giggles coming from yours and Lily’s side of the room. He knew he should’ve knocked, but he couldn’t help himself from overhearing your conversation.
“Lily stop!” A string of giggles followed your comment. He listened in closer at the sudden remark from you.
“Okay, okay! But I know you have a thing for him!!” Remus’s heart sunk to his feet, of course you’d like someone else.
“Of course I do! You know I do! He’s just *so* perfect, Lily, not to mention gorgeous,” he just barely heard the last part, but if Remus’s heart could sink any further than it had, then it would. Even though he’d hoped that you would have any kind of romantic feelings for him, he didn’t count on it.
Now here he was, standing outside of your dorm like a creep, just trying to get some kind of contact with you.
He did not end up seeing you, in fact he doesn’t really want to see you right now.
He turned around to leave when he heard another shrill giggle.
“You think his pranks are funny?!”
“As much as I hate to admit it, I do. But how can you not??”
“It’s so childish!!”
Pranks. It’s James. You’re in love with James. Why wouldn’t you be? Captain of the quidditch team, prefect, gorgeous, and apparently show stopping hilarious.
Remus knew coming to your dorm was a bad idea in the first place and now he really regrets doing so.
His book can wait until tomorrow or quite literally never. How is he honestly going to talk to you ever again? He walked back to his dorm with his head sunken and his heart even more.
He walks slowly to his bed, now in a pissed mood.
“D’you get your book, mate?” Peter asks innocently from his side of the room, while arranging his blankets, however he seemed to have caught Remus in a funk, because Remus sends a pillow flying, hitting him in the head.
Remus lays down and covers his head with a blanket, not speaking another word to anyone.
Back in your dorm, only seconds after Remus booked it out of there, you and Lily are still gossiping, “Lily, I know he doesn’t feel the same way,”
“Remus is just shy, that’s all, I’m not sure he would be too confident to tell you about he feels, that’s why you need to say something.”
You huffed at her, “But I don’t want to, he’s just so amazing and perfect, I don’t know, just talking about this makes me want to die of embarrassment.”
“Stop, it’s not embarrassing,”
Marlene, from across the room, chips in to the conversation, “It is embarrassing how loud you lot are being right now, shut up and go to sleep.”
You and Lily rolled your eyes and shrugged her off before beginning to get ready for bed.
As you slipped under the covers, Lily whispered one more thing to you, “Tell him!”
It’s safe to say you would be overthinking until you fell asleep.
The next morning you knew something was up. Remus wouldn’t look at you or even stay near you anytime you came up to him.
He knows. He has to know. And now you’ve ruined your friendship with him because of a silly crush.
At dinner later that night, you walked into the Great Hall to where you normally sit. Remus was sitting across from James and Sirius and next to Peter. You sat down next to Remus, trying to rekindle your relationship with him.
Unfortunately this was also a spot across from James.
“Hey, I haven’t seen you all day,” James said through a mouthful of food.
“Yeah, I was running around school trying to figure out this potions project,”
Remus stands abruptly and storms out of the Great Hall.
James, Sirius, and Peter all share a confused look.
“What was all that about?” Peter looks at you.
“I don’t know, I think he’s upset with me, he’s been like this all day,” you shrug your shoulders and hang your head a little.
“Oh don’t I believe it, I’ve been caught on the wrong end of his attitude. ‘Bout chopped my head off over me asking to borrow a quill,” Sirius rolls his eyes.
James thinks, “Are we missing a full moon?”
“No, it was only 2 weeks ago,”
“I think he knows, you know, about my thing for him, why else would he be avoiding me?”
“I promise you he doesn’t know,” Peter comforts you, “He’s too oblivious to know, you could have your tongue down his throat and he would still think you lot are just friends.”
“I’m so embarrassed,” you put your head in your hands.
“You’re fine, he doesn’t know,”
“I don’t know, I should go after him. Should I go after him?”
“Maybe we should just let him be for a minute.”
A minute turned to hours, hours turned to days, days turned into a week, and any of you barely had any contact with Remus.
Until Friday night before the quidditch match, Remus hadn’t spoken a word to anyone and avoided you at all costs.
Before the game he stopped James as he headed into the team’s tent.
“James,”
“Hey, mate, see you’ve finally come to your senses and came to talk to me,” James said with a tinge of sass. To say James was upset at Remus was an understatement, James hated to be shut out by his friends.
“Just shut up and listen. She has this huge thing for you and you should know that, just in case she tries something tonight at the party, just be gentle with her,” Remus shoots out quickly, talking about you.
James looks at him like he’s batshit crazy.
“…What?”
“James I know you’re smarter than you look, you know who I’m talking about,”
“Yeah, I do, but there’s no way,”
“Yes there is, I heard her and Lily talking about you when I went to borrow that book,”
“Okay… are you sure?”
“As sure as the day is long.”
James pulled a face at him, “Okay, mate, yeah. Whatever you say.” He patted Remus on the shoulder as he walked into the tent.
Why was James being so sarcastic with him? Remus would do anything for your attention and affection. Remus brushed off James’ attitude and went to find a seat in the stands
He watched as the Gryffindor team came out of the tunnel and began the match against Hufflepuff.
Both you and James were chasers, Remus sat slumped in between Lily and Mary as he watched you and James fly close together.
In the air, far from the stands, James absolutely unloaded to you about what Remus had said to him before the match.
“I’m serious, I think he’s actually dense,”
“James be nice, he’s probably just not thinking straight,”
“I’m serious, he held me at the tent, telling me how much you are in love with me and how he overheard you and Lily,”
“Oh? What?”
“Yes when he came to borrow that book or whatever,”
“When? I haven’t even seen him all week?”
“It was Sunday night I think.”
Sunday? Sunday. You were talking about Remus. Not James. Merlin, he really is dense.
Neither of your attentions were really on the game anymore and the two of you had just been circling around the pitch passing around the quaffle.
You had Remus stressed. Why were you and James just talking? What are you talking about? This is the worst match he’s ever been to, he should’ve just stayed in his dorm.
Marlene circled around you and took the quaffle, “If you’re going to fly circles around the Hufflepuff players, at least score us some points. Talk about your gossip shit on the ground,” she shouted out.
Finally snapped back into it, you centered your focus on the game around you. How are you going to make this right?
The game ran longer than normal because of the close score, but Gryffindor had ended up catching the snitch, abruptly ending the match.
You and the rest of the team showered and headed to the Gryffindor common room, just ready to conk out on the couches, but alas, the Gryffindor common room never sleeps.
When you arrived, there was a bustling party. James, Sirius, and Marlene jumped right in, some of the other players went up to their dorms, but what could it hurt if you stayed down a bit longer?
You scanned the party for your close friends, mostly Lily. When you had found her, you dragged her off to a quieter part of the room and told her everything James had said on the pitch.
“I agree with James, he’s actually dense,” Lily rolled her eyes.
“Why would he think I have a thing for James? That’s outrageous!!”
“I don’t know, maybe you should talk to him,” she pointed over to where Remus was sitting on the stairs alone, only observing the party, swirling a cup of who knows what.
You approach him, but he didn’t seem to register it; he was lost in his own world.
“I heard you’ve been spying on me,” you say gently, but loud enough he could hear you over the music. He looks up at you and then down at his cup, his cheeks flushed.
“May I?” you point to the spot next to him and he nods.
“You know I think you really are dense,” he snaps his head at you.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me. How could you possibly think I like James?”
“You said- you said he was gorgeous and perfect and his pranks-“
“Yeah, I did say he was, but I didn’t say James was,”
“So it’s Sirius or Peter then?” He thought hard next to you, everything you said applies to all his friends.
“Merlin, you really are stupid.”
You roll your eyes at him and grab his shirt pulling him in closer to you. Your lips collide with his softly and he’s shocked, but gives in.
You pull away and he looks at you dumbfounded, “So you said all those things about me?”
“Do I need to make myself clear again?”
“Actually, I do think so,” he says with a smug grin.
You pull him in for another kiss, it’s safe to say he doesn’t think you like James anymore.

hi lovelyyy,, thanks for requesting !! yes ofc i could :) i hope you like this !! ☁️🪽🫧🫧
one spoon for two
(remus lupin x reader)
contents : fluffy, shy reader, mentions of twoz book series bcs my ozian ass is obsessed with them😭🙏, not proofread
  . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
it wasn't a secret that you were shy.
you don't talk much. you usually let the others do the talking and you listen. despite your lack of voice, your ears are fully open. which is not so much of a convenience really.
sometimes you worried that your friends get bored of you because you have nothing to say. it's not like you don't care, you do. you just don't quite know the right words to express what you think.
you only talk when it's necessary. when people talk to you first. that's why you've been getting frustrated lately.
sitting on the grass with a book open on your lap, you were focused on the neatly printed pages and illustrations on your book along with the sound of soft winds and dried leaves. well- that was until you saw the infamous marauder, james and sirius trotting on the ground while throwing a snitch at each other to catch.
you don't want to look at them. although every part of you wanted to steal a glance towards the kindhearted marauder, remus lupin.
he's the perfect combination of every good things in the world.
he is smart, funny, witty, caring, and so much more.
it takes everything in you to keep your little pupils away from his face. if you look at him, you were sure you'd blush and that would be embarrassing.
you got up slowly, escaping whatever you're feeling right now.
there he goes, averting his eyes to your moving figure. he frowns a little, knowing that you were quite shy in front of people and prefer being in the company of your own.
"whatcha looking there moony? your girl?" sirius quipped.
"she wouldn't even look at me," he shook his head. he wondered if you knew his feelings and were terrified.
"she's just shy, moony," james said, almost missing the snitch sirius threw.
the next time you were in the same room with him was in potions. you noticed how his hair flops in the prettiest way possible with the perfect shade of golden.
then the next second, he turned his head so you reluctantly look away immediately. thankful that he was turning to look at james and not you.
and god does the universe loves seeing you nervous!
your were partnered up with remus and james to brew a potion together.
the two boys walked towards your table. james skipping like a child while remus tried to keep his cool.
"hey darlin' i will be getting the ingredients yeah, and you and remus can set up the table," james grinned a friendly grin.
you nodded, whispering a 'yeah'. it wasn't loud, but remus heard it just as clear.
as you set up the table, remus tried talking to you, to hopefully get you comfortable and to show that he is a good person.
you didn't need him to do things just to prove he is a good person. you already knew that of course. he is nice to everyone. he's selfless and caring.
"hey, you alright?" he noticed your timid movements.
"yeah, m'fine," you said to him in such a quiet voice. you couldn't look at him, you're too shy to do so.
it was the middle of brewing when your hand brushed his while you were crushing pearls. "sorry," you mumbled.
"no need to apologise..." he frowned, confused as to why you were so... away from here yet you were in the same room. "you sure you're alright?" he continued, reaching for your palms.
he was shocked at himself. he just touched your hand? he's never done that to anyone except his marauders. but he didn't regret it though, your skin was so much softer than his. he felt like he's holding a ball of cotton.
your cheeks turned red when his hand grasped yours. your heart beating twice as fast. "remus, i'm promise im okay...," you answered.
remus squeezed your knuckles, sending a confused look to james in which he returned with a teasing grin that made remus rolled his eyes.
maybe he liked you. well- who's he kidding, of course he does! he saw you almost everyday, and you look so enchanting the entire time.
he thinks your hair is perfect. you styled it in the way that makes your pretty face prettier. your energy (or lack of energy) is cute too. you fumble with your words when people talk to you. and he thinks it's adorable and attractive at the same time.
the way you pushed your hair away from your eyes as you crushed those pearls. it was absolutely angelic.
"i think y/n likes you moons," james said when they were all sprawled on their dorm at the end of the day.
"i think so too" sirius agreed, chuckling as he threw a piece of crumpled up paper.
"me too." he said.
everyone stayed silent after that. mouth wide open. they never thought remus would be so confident saying that someone likes him (although it's not a bad thing, just out of remus' usual self deprecation).
"wha- no!" remus shook his head in disbelief. "i mean i like her too," he corrected shyly, his cheeks flushing.
"we know," the three of them said at the same time and bursted into laughter the next moment.
"it's quite obvious moony!" james said, "especially this morning when you held her hand. you never do that! let alone let us touch your little shoulder."
"it's different!"
"oh we know! you never look at me like you want to kiss my face off but you do look at y/n that way," james said.
"she always steals a millisecond to look at you y'know?" sirius snickered. enjoying the embarrassment his best friend is experiencing currently.
"don't lie, pads. she didn't even look at me the whole potions class," remus sighed.
"she's just shy, moony," sirius rolled his eyes. "if you really really and i mean really feel like you two can work out together, my advice is that you should reach out and talk to her. slowly but surely she'll be less nervous with you!"
and remus took sirius' advice. usually his advices are absurd and obnoxious but sirius has girls and boys falling for him left and right. surely he knows how to treat a girl right?
he saw you sitting at the library one evening. nose buried in your book. the only features he can see are your hair, forehead, and eyebrows.
and they all look pretty. your brows would furrow when you read something weird in the book.
it's hard to compose himself when you were there. just sitting peacefully with no care about the things surrounding you. you weren't even doing anything and he is smitten.
you heard shuffling besides you and you look up almost instantly, meeting a pair of honey green eyes in the colour like a comet in the sky.
you look away immediately, focusing on your book, growing nervous under his stare.
he smiled, "is it okay f'me to sit here?"
"yeah," you replied. you cringed at how short it was. you don't want to come off as rude or cold or anything but it's hard to speak a sentence.
"what're you reading there?" he asked, his voice sweet like candy.
"uh," you flipped your book around, to read off the title. "the road to emerald city of oz," you replied, tilting your chin towards him as you smile gently but still keeping your eyes firmly on the page.
"is it like a series? i heard about the wonderful wizard of oz somewhere," remus replied.
"it is," you nodded. it's hard to read when he's beside you like this. when you're the only thing in his view right now. when you're the only one in his head.
"do you have all the books?" he asked, just wanting to hear voice.
"i do," you finally flickered your eyes at him for a good two seconds before returning them back to your book. you blushed when you look at him. he was radiating comfort and care but you were too much in your feelings. eye contact is your weakness.
"can i borrow them?"
"you want to read them?" you looked at him again, this time a little longer and a little more confused. confused as to why anyone would be interested in what you like.
"why not? don't you like it?" he asked.
"i do," you replied. "i'm on the seventh book," you looked down again.
remus let out a soft chuckle, gazing at you like you're the most precious human being ever.
"huh?" you furrowed your brows. looking at his sweater instead of his face.
"you're so dear you know," he smiled.
your cheeks flushed red at his compliment. you didn't reply. didn't know how to.
"i'll get the book for you," you scrambled out of the library, heading to your dorm to give remus the first book in the series.
while being away from him, you collected yourself, taking deep breaths because he's so breathtaking that close. you've never been this close to him. he smells so good.
you were back in a jiffy, only to find out that remus has scooted more in the middle, making your legs touch when you sit down.
"oh yeah! just like what i heard "the wonderful wizard of oz," he nodded.
"sorry, it's a children's book," you replied in embarrassment, just realising that you were reading a book for children!
"oh i don't mind! i read cringy werewolf romance books and that makes you so much better than me," he laughed, seeing the small smile that appeared on your pretty lips.
the next time he was talking to you this close again was when he finished the first copy of your book. he had finished it in just two days, leaving you in surprise.
he read it so fast so he can find an excuse to spend time with you again. the story was quite alright, but he would not tell that to you.
"hi," he plopped down next to you in the library. same exact spot as last time. "i finished it!" he held up the book.
"oh that's great," you replied, surprised he was sitting here again next to you "did you like it?"
"i loved it! i can't believe the wizard of oz is just an old basic man! not even magic," he huffed childishly, making you giggle.
the sound is simply spa music to his ears.
"what's your favourite character?" remus asked.
"glinda."
"oh the witch... from the south?"
"yeah," you replied.
"next book?" he questioned.
you had it in your bag, ready to give it to him anytime. "i've got it here," you pulled it out.
remus smiled as your fingertips brushed past his in a quick incandescent touch.
this routine continued so and so until he noticed a few changes within yourself. you weren't that shy nor timid anymore. you still couldn't hold eye contact with him for more than five seconds but that's alright for him.
during those five seconds he is sure he has fallen in love. he couldn't help it. you're his crush since forever, it's bound to happen.
"hey, i finished glinda of oz!" remus cheered, putting down the book on his lap as he took in your appearance.
this was not at the dark library that shadows off your features. you were sitting on grass in the afternoon, making your skin glow under the golden rays of sunshine. he can see your pretty face clear now.
you smiled at him as he took a seat beside you, you actually feels secure enough around him to look at his face.
"that means you finished the whole series, rem," you let out a soft and proud but light chuckle.
"i now know why you love it so much!" remus smiled. he realised he always smiles when he's with you. you must have super powers.
"do you like glinda?" you asked.
"my favourite character is the tin wood man. he's funny, but yeah. since you like glinda so much then i guess she can be a favourite of mine too!" remus replied, rubbing circles in your knuckles.
just that little gesture he did made you shy all over again, unable to look at him like the first time you two were talking.
remus smiled again, gently taking your other hand with his other. "i want to ask you something, lovie," remus looked into your beautiful eyes.
your head is fuzzy. he called you 'lovie'. a nickname. you're sure you were warm in the face.
remus brushed his fingers on your left cheek with the softest touch known to men. "love..."
"yes...?"
"the next hogsmeade trip is this saturday.... do you want to er- like share the trip together- i mean as a date?" he looked at you with such fondness in his eyes.
"me?"
"yes you, lovie, look at me yeah?" remus gently cupped your cheeks.
you two were so close to the point that you can feel remus warmth radiating off of him.
"what do you say?"
"yeah," you nodded. embarrassment washing you again when all you said was just a 'yeah'.
"yeah yes or yeah no?" remus asked, a smile playing on his lips.
"yes i'll go with you," you were a blushing mess, trying to look away from his eyes but his soft hands kept tugging you back.
remus felt the heat from your cheeks in his palm. it was absolutely a fuzzy feeling knowing that you were showing likeness towards him.
he wanted to kiss you. doesn't have to be on the lips. he'd love to plant small kisses on your red cheeks. but he didn't of course. boundaries.
"settled then yeah? i'll be waiting at our common room, darling," he smiled.

Pairings: Shy!Reader x James Potter

Tumblr media Tumblr media
Y/N glanced towards the door one last time before the Advanced Ancient Runes lecture began. The seat beside her remained vacant, to her surprise. She'd become friends with Remus Lupin at the beginning of the year when they'd been assigned to sit at the same table.
Remus had become a steady constant in her life and he rarely missed Advanced Runes. It was a class full of studious-type people, those who genuinely enjoyed research and writing long essays on the history or application of Runes. Most people didn't take Ancient Runes and even less took Advanced Runes. As such, it was an unspoken rule that if anyone had issues with another person in the class it was to be left out in the hallway. The Advanced Runes classroom was a sanctuary to those who entered it.
Y/N was quiet and shy. She'd always been that way. Remus was one of very few people that she would count as a friend, though she knew that the same couldn't be said for him - a Marauder.
Y/N had assumed that Remus would be like his 3 best friends but to her relief, he proved to be cut from a similar cloth as hers. Remus had been the one to lead the first few of their conversations, mostly about assignments, but as time went on she found herself opening up to him. He was a good laugh and had an easy presence to be around.
It was why she was so disappointed that he wasn't in class today. They'd been talking about this particular section all year and she knew that Remus had been more excited about it than anything else. Y/N sighed and bit her bottom lip. She reached down into her bag and pulled out two pieces of parchment and two quills.
She enchanted one of the quills to copy the other and began to write down notes from the lecture. She made a conscious effort to take more detailed notes than she needed, hoping that it would be enough.
By the time the lecture was over she'd filled 3 pieces of parchment that she carefully rolled and put in her bag.
The walk to Potions was relatively short. Y/N normally liked to get there early so that she could get settled at her station before it filled up. The loud noise after an hour of quiet normally left her with a headache.
"Black, while I appreciate the effort, you and Mr. Potter are not going to be partners," Professor Slughorn was saying as she walked in.
A cursory glance to his desk revealed a sulking Sirius Black who despite the initial answer, kept trying to be partnered with his friend. The friend in question was hunched over his station and was scribbling on parchment. It was likely the homework that they were supposed to have already done.
Y/N felt the blood rush quickly through her body and her stomach turn. She knew that the two boys would be the best chance at getting Remus the notes, but that meant that she had to talk to people that she didn't know.
Her hands shook as she put her bag down next to her chair. She bent down and pulled out the scroll, twisting it in her hands as she debated her two choices.
Sirius Black. He was a notorious flirt and very, very outgoing. He liked to tease and had a loud laugh. He was heard before he was seen and he always made sure that he was seen. But, he was very kind and was known to help out lost first years.
James Potter. He was also outgoing but let Sirius take the lead most of the time. He had an easy confidence that came from being good at almost anything that he tried. He liked to pull pranks, but Y/N had never seen him tease anyone about something he knew that they were nervous about.
Considering her current state, she was really aiming for someone who wouldn't bring up her tight fists around the scroll and her inability to hold eye contact. James it was.
She took a deep breath and walked over to his desk before she lost her nerve.
"Excuse me," she said to get his attention.
Chocolate brown eyes snapped up to her and she felt her heart beat faster at the feeling of such an intense focus. He'd stopped writing and his head tilted to the side as if surprised she was talking to him or maybe, just that she was there in the first place.
"Yes?" He asked.
"Umm, sorry. You're Remus Lupin's friend, right?" She hoped that he couldn't hear the way her voice wobbled as she apologized. Her eyes were focused on the scroll in her hands.
He placed his quill down, "No need to apologize, Love. I do, in fact, happen to be a friend of Lupin. It's one of my favorite titles."
She let out a small laugh at the way he said it, as if he was a king of old choosing a title from his favorite adventure.
He sat a little straighter in his chair as she brought her eyes back to his, "What can a humble, friend of Lupin's do for you?"
She bit her lip and held out her shaking hand with the scroll.
" I noticed that he wasn't in Advanced Runes today. These are the notes from the lecture and I was hoping that you could give them to him for me?"
His mouth fell open a little but he recovered quickly. James took the scroll from her gently, moving slowly as if not to startle her, which was observant on his part.
"I'll make sure it gets to him," he said with a curious expression on his face.
She nodded her thanks and walked away quickly. She'd just made it back to the safety of her seat when Sirius Black announced his presence to James.
"Mate, tell me that is not today's assignment."
-
"It came from Y/N?" Remus was asking him. His voice was hoarse, but he looked much better that he had when James had left him this morning.
James nodded, "Yeah, poor thing was shaking like a leaf the whole time."
Remus adjusted to sit up in his bed. He had poured over the notes for at least a few minutes in disbelief.
"That sounds like her. She's incredibly shy, it took her almost a full week to even form a full sentence to me. I was hoping that she saw me as a friend," Remus told him. "I'm surprised you didn't know her name."
"I am too, I thought that I knew everyone. I had to ask Alice and she had to ask Mary," James was speaking with his hands. It was something that he did when something was puzzling him.
"Merlin," Remus shook his head, "It took a lot for her to give you the notes."
Sirius flopped down next to Remus, "You're sure she's not a transfer?"
"Positive. She's been in transfigurations and runes with me since first year," Remus explained. He leaned his head into the feeling of Sirius' hands as he brushed his hair with his fingers.
"I can't believe I haven't seen her before," James said, looking extremely upset with himself.
"He certainly tried to make up for that today. The man didn't take his eyes off of her for the entirety of potions," Sirius muttered.
James rested his head in his hands, a familiar wistful expression taking over his face.
"She's beautiful," he whispered.
"Oh absolutely not," Remus said.
James whipped his head toward's him.
"She's my friend, you're not allowed to go full "Lily-Mode" on her. It'll freak her out and she'll stop talking to me," Remus said.
James looked extremely put-out, "What's that supposed to mean?"
Sirius rolled his eyes, "Don't be stupid, Prongs."
Remus let out a loud laugh at that grew louder after James shoved Sirius off the bed.
James groaned, "What do I do then?"
Sirius pushed himself up off the floor, "Why don't you go to Lily and ask her. Learn from your failed attempt."
Ultimately, James thought this was the best idea he'd ever heard. It made perfect sense. He and Lily had become great friends after he'd realized that she'd been right about them to begin with. They were better friends than they would ever be as a couple, they argued way too much. As a couple that made them difficult but as friends it allowed them to better themselves.
"Lily?" He asked, sitting down across from her in the great hall.
She looked over at him, eyebrows raised. "What do you want?" She asked after seeing the look on his face.
"I need you to tell me how I could've flirted with you better," James said trying to give her his most angelic expression.
Lily's face grew panicked, "James, we've talked about this."
"What?" He asked, "Oh Merlin, not for you! Not that you're not great, but I definitely don't feel that way about you."
"Oh," Lily breathed out in relief.
James nodded, "Yeah, there's this girl and I really want things to go well."
His eyes were genuine and Lily felt her defenses fall. If he was willing to go out on a limb to ask her what he did wrong and potentially damage his ego, she was willing to help him.
-
Y/N was relieved to see Remus in the library the next day. He'd explained that he had a horrible cold and didn't feel well enough to go to class. He thanked her for her notes and they settled into an easy silence.
"Remus, have you figured out the historical context behind this rune?" She asked, pointing out the rune in question.
"Yeah, here," he said, sliding a book over to her. She'd just begun to write down the information when a familiar voice cut through the air.
"Hey, do you mind if I join you both?" James asked.
He seemed more hesitant than he had the last time that she'd seen him. He had his school bag hung over his left shoulder and was clutching on to the strap with both hands. A quick glance over his shoulder showed Sirius Black leaving the library with his hands curiously empty.
Remus chuckled, "What do you think Y/N?"
Her cheeks flushed at having to make the choice. She twisted her quill in between her thumb and pointer finger, swallowing down the lump of nerves that had gotten caught in her throat.
"Yeah, of course you can," She told him.
James nodded and gave her a small smile. He sat across from her and diagonally from Remus. She had thought that he might try to hold a conversation or distract them, but he proved to be almost as good of a study partner as Remus.
He was quiet and focused on the work in front of him. He only spoke to ask or answer a question and he didn't judge the mountain of books that she had grabbed to help write her essay. For the first time, Y/N could understand how he had become one of the best students in their year.
When he asked if it would be alright for him to join them again, Y/N agreed without hesitation.
She began to see him a lot more outside of her growing study group. In the hallways, he would always wave or nod his head if he was in the middle of a conversation with someone. He normally held the door open when he was walking into class, but now he seemed to wait for her outside of their shared classes to open it just for her.
During meal times, the marauders had shifted from their regular spot so that they were much closer to Y/N. It was nice because it allowed her to speak with Remus, but she was surprised to find out that James was nice to talk to as well. She still allowed him to be the one that started their conversations though.
Y/N was sitting by the Black Lake one afternoon, reading, when she heard James call out her name. She looked up to find a sweaty James in his quidditch practice uniform. She hadn't realized how muscular he was until they were on prominent display. It wasn't like she didn't know how attractive he was, she did have eyes but it was different looking at James, her friend.
The James in front of her was gaspingly hot. She quickly averted her eyes from his but that caused her to be looking openly at his biceps which caused her to blush, furiously.
"Hey Y/N," James said as he plopped down on the grass next to her. His scent of vanilla and musk swirled in the air around her with the breeze. He leaned back on his arms with one just slightly behind her back.
"Hey," she said back, mentally shaking her head at her lack of creativity.
"I have a very serious question for you," he said. His brown eyes were trying to peak into her own that were trained very purposefully on the ground.
She giggled, "If Sirius put you up to it then I'm not sure you should ask it."
His face erupted in a surprised smile, "Quite right. Umm, I was wondering if you were planning ong going to the Gryffindor Party after the match tomorrow?"
Y/N hugged her knees to her chest and used them to rest her head on.
"It's not really my scene," she told him.
He nodded, "Yeah, but I figured that because this one is supposed to be smaller, just 5th years and above, that you might consider it. Plus, myself and Remus will be there."
Her lips were pursed to the side in thought and she met his eyes for the first time since he sat down. She felt her resolve fade away at the hopefulness that was swimming around in them.
She sighed, "Ok."
James' eyebrows shot up his forehead in excitement, "Really?"
"Yeah, anything for you I guess," she whispered into her knees.
-
Y/N was rethinking her devotion to a certain gryffindor brunette as she stood outside of the portrait. She'd completely forgotten to ask when they were getting there and the thought of walking into a party alone required more confidence than she currently had.
She spun on her heel to walk as far away as she could when she ran into a head of flaming red hair.
"Oh Y/N!" Lily said in excitement. "I didn't realize that you were coming, here come with me."
Y/N wasn't left with any room to do otherwise as Lily looped her arm in her's and led her into the common room. James had been right. It was much less a party as it was a social event. There was light music in the background and groups of people were clustered together in various stages of conversation.
Lily led her over to the drinks and was about to hand her a glass of butterbeer when a blonde girl pulled her away loudly proclaiming that she needed help getting more snacks from the kitchens.
"Stay right there! I'll be right back," Lily shouted as she was pulled away.
Y/N settled herself so that she was leaning against the wall, partially hidden by a rather large oak bookshelf. She ran a hand through her hair nervously as she watched people she didn't know interact with other people that she didn't know.
She paused from taking a sip from her butterbeer when she heard her name coming from a group of girls on her left.
"Did you see that James has joined in on Remus' pity project?" The girl with raven hair asked.
"You mean, Y/N? Yeah, it's odd."
"I mean don't get me wrong, James has always been outgoing but Y/N is like the opposite of his type."
"I know! Have you seen the way that she's latched onto him? It's pathetic, she's got to realize that she doesn't have a chance with him. Honestly, I think she must be a way for James to make Lily jealous."
"No way! He's way over her. Besides, I'm hoping that I get a chance with him tonight."
The group of girls giggled and began to talk about the new uniform regulation, but Y/N didn't hear any of it as a block of ice settled in her veins.
Her mouth was parted slightly and her breaths came out broken. She should've known better. Why would two marauders want to hang out with her? Remus would've made sense because he's nice to everyone, but James would never look at her. They were too opposite, the girls were right. She had to get out of there before she put either of them or herself in a bad situation.
She put her glass down on the floor and stayed so close the the wall that her left shoulder was touching it the whole way to the portrait. She stumbled out of it and bumped directly into James.
"Woah, where's the fire? You alright?" He asked after seeing her panicked form.
"I-I um, I've got to go," Y/N muttered before pulling away and running down the hall.
"Y/N!" James called from behind her.
She didn't turn, just kept running until she stood by the shoreline of the Black Lake. She leaned over with her hands on her knees, gulping down as much of the cold air as she could. She straightened up at the sound of footfalls coming from behind her.
"James?" She asked, turning to see him coming to a stop behind her. He was just as winded and his face held a handsome flush. He was panting but was determined.
"Why- Did- You- Run Away- From- the Party?" He asked, trying to control his breathing.
She looked out over the lake, "Because they're right. We're too different and I don't know why I thought that this could work."
He squinted at her, "Who? Wait, what do you mean too different?"
Y/N sighed and turned to face him fully. "What I mean is that those girls in there were right. You're James Potter and I'm Me. I don't know why I ever let myself entertain the idea of a relationship between us. You're just going to get bored of me once you're done chasing me. You live a life full of excitement with all of your thousand friends and I live a quiet life with a few."
James clenched his jaw and shook his head angrily, "That's the most fucked up thing I've ever heard you say."
Y/N stared at him.
"How could you even think that," he continued, "when you are one of the most incredible and interesting people that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting? I could never get bored of you, that's completely ridiculous. If anything you'll tire of me and my stupidity."
James voice rose as he grew more passionate, " And you know what? I am James Bloody Potter and that means that the only person who gets to tell me that I don't get to be in a relationship with you is you. I wouldn't give a shite if Merlin himself came down and forbid me. I literally live to break ridiculous rules. You are Y/N, but you're wrong to think that means that you are less than. You're intelligent, witty, and so beautiful I swear that every time that I look at you my heart falls out of my arse."
Y/N let out a loud laugh at that, swiping at the tears that were beginning to form in her eyes.
"I don't think you realize how much you influence every thing that I do. Hell, I asked Lily Evans on advice for how to flirt with you so that I wouldn't fail miserably! I even-" James was cut off mid-sentence.
Y/N reached up and kissed him square on the mouth, knocking his glasses askew. He arms wrapped around her quickly and held her up against his chest. Y/N let her hands travel into his soft hair and pull slightly on the curls.
She pulled away from him before it got to heated, both of them red-cheeked and winded.
"Did you really ask Lily Evans for advice about me?"
James nodded, looking down shyly in a very uncharacteristic way. His eyes captured hers, "Did you mean it when you said that you'd thought about a relationship with me?"
Y/N bit her lip and nodded. James reached up and pulled her lip from her teeth with his thumb. His eyes were focused on her mouth when he asked, "Will you let me take you on a proper date? One that doesn't involve the common room or the bloody lake?"
"Yeah, I think I'd like that a lot," Y/N whispered.
James response was a toe curling kiss that Y/N was sure she'd feel the memory of tomorrow.

You stared dolefully at the fat lady's portrait. Rocking on the balls of your feet as you tried to gather the courage to ask the next passing Gryffindor if Remus or Sirius was in there. Waiting, you took a quick glanced at one of the nearby paintings which conveniently displayed a clock ticking in real time
08:21…22
You had less than half an hour until detention started, though realistically you only had ten since you would need to take the long way due to someone’s breakfast not sitting quite right. You didn’t really like Filch, but if it was that bad he had to close the entire corridor? Yeah, you definitely pitied him a fair bit in that moment
Looking up you notice the portrait shutting behind a boy you don’t recognise. You wait for him to come down the stairs before attempting to ask him…attempting being the main word
“Hi, can you help…” you start but it’s more of a whisper causing you to shrink into yourself as the boy clearly doesn’t hear you nor even registers your existence “…me” you finish a little sadly to yourself as you hopelessly watch him walk off down the corridor
You would love to say that was your first attempt at gaining someone’s attention but alas that was simply not true. Lily Evans had passed you by mere minutes ago, and after a meek ‘hi’ which she miraculously heard, Marlene McKinnon showed up, winked at you, called you sweetheart and you shied away so much you almost fell down the stairs. Something you were sure the girl was more than flattered by but didn’t help you in your goal of talking to one of the boys, and was also why you were now standing at the bottom of the stairs
Chewing on your lip your eyes flicked to the time again
08:26…27
“Crap” you mutter lowly, dejected that you weren’t going to see either of them at this rate
It was strange, you had seen and spoken to them every day this week yet the thought of not seeing them at all today made your heart hurt unimaginably. The last two days had been a little less eventful, and by less eventful you made lots of progress on the project but none with Remus.
While Sirius though took every opportunity during your sessions to flirt, Remus hardly ever, if he did at all and you were way too shy to initiate. You chalked it up to him being shy in light of Sirius’ abundant flirting yet you still couldn’t help but fear the worst.
Peter!
You spot the boy approaching down the corridor, arms filled with a bunch of blankets…of vastly varying sizes? Weird. Though Peter was wonderfully so.
Stepping to the side so he could hopefully spot you in his peripherals, you fix your hair and cardigan quickly, in case somehow somewhere, Remus suddenly appeared to help the boy
“Hi” you greet when he gets close enough
He looks a little startled, although the word ‘caught’ comes to mind as his eyes grow wide and nerves take over for the seconds it takes him to realise it was only you. Luckily none of blankets fall in his shock, and his anxious look melts into a kind smile
“Hi y/n” he welcomes, shoulders relaxed once more and you feel yourself doing the same “What brings you here?” He asks, head tilting with a gentle insinuation you hear it loud and clear, which you become a little bashful under
“Well…” you take a breath “…I have detention this morning…” Peter’s smile widens at that, recalling the great hall incident “…I actually need to be there soon…actually now” you let out a nervous chuckle “Anyway. I was wondering if I could talk to Remus at some point today?”
The moment you say ‘Remus’ Peter freezes a little, his face flashing with something you can’t quite discern. Concern and worry? Yes. But it soon fades into intrigue
“Or Sirius” you add, feeling heat creeping up your neck, more so as his intrigue grows
Peter wears a slightly charmed expression as he attempts to adjust his grip on the blankets, one however falls off the top in the process, landing between you both. His nose crunches, clearly trying to figure out how he was going to pick it up, but his worry fades as you bend down instantly and pick it up for him.
You fiddle with the supple plushie material, recognising them as the famously soft blankets from Slytherin, however these were now blue instead of green…although you had a funny feeling they would soon be red
“Cosy right?” your attention is pulled back to the boy who wears a glee filled smile
“Yeah” you nod, thumbs rubbing into the fabric and watching the wave of shine “Where did you get these?” you ask even though you already know
Peter looks around, checking no one was about “Promise you won’t tell?” he shuffles a little closer to you
“Your secrets safe with me” you assure him
He smiles “Me and James had a good feeling about you” he notes earning a shy giggle from yourself, joy filling your heart at the approval from your crushes friend, even if you had barely had a conversation with one, and this being your first with the other
Peter notices your reaction, now he knows his feeling was right
“I stole them from Ravenclaw tower…although technically they were Slytherins and the Ravenclaw stole them” he chuckles and you join him, whilst also being rather impressed that Ravenclaw managed to pull off the same heist you, Alex and Amos did a few years back “And now I’ve stolen them” he says blushing a little, yet there is a sense of pride about him
Peter had always seemed, on the outside at least, like the puppy of the group, although you would later find this to be a rather ironic statement. He was the one who followed the others about, did as he was told and was always just…there. Yet seeing him now, you didn’t see a minion or a follower, you saw someone who was just as smart as the other three. Someone that used his mischief and talents for his own quests, but unlike his counterparts he embarked on cute quests for blankets instead of waging war on those with green ties
“Wow, that’s amazing” you say, a large smile on your face which he copies, a look of gratitude painting it as well
“Thanks” he nods “Say what you want about Slytherins but they have the best blankets”
You giggle, bobbing your head “I can see” you agree, placing the smaller one back on his pile carefully “Say, can I ask you something?”
“Anything” he shrugs happily
“Why do you need the different sizes, some of them are rather…small?” you inquire, referring to the one you had picked up
The question had been on your mind the moment you saw them. The larger ones you knew could cover a double sized bed, those were the ones you stole. But the smaller ones? They were for first years and could barely wrap around your shoulders, in fact they were often used for those with pets that weren’t owls
“Oh” he looks away, trying to form an answer or some kind of reasonable explanation “Well, my weight…fluctuates” he explains with a cringe “Plus me and the boys can used them for our pets” he adds for extra measure although even the boy knows it’s not the best lie
You know for the first time he isn’t being entirely truthful yet you don’t find it in you to mind, it didn’t seem like a bad secret, and, if anything, you got the sense it wasn’t his he was keeping
“Cool” you smile and he relaxes even if he has a small incline you don’t fully ‘buy’ it, he’s still grateful you don’t push the subject “So. About your friends?” You circle back, knowing you were going to be late now but you didn’t want to be ridiculously so
“Butterscotch” he tells you, to which earns him a confused head tilt “That’s the password” he expands and your mouth forms on ‘o’ “I’d take you in myself but…” he glances at the paintings clock “…I don’t think you have the time. Besides I’m only here to drop these off then I’m going to help James with recon”
“Recon?” you eye him amused
“On Lily…” he sees your face “…I promise it’s not as weird or stalker-y…okay maybe a little bit starker-esk…but it isn’t as bad as you think. I just don’t think either of us have the time for me to explain why it’s not…bad…or creepy” he says a little rushed looking down at the end as his cheeks grow red, like he knows he slipped up and now must hope you don’t think him nor his friend a weirdo
“I believe you”
His head shoots up “Thank you” he says, a smile gracing his face, the kind of smile that tells you he doesn’t hear that enough
“So Butterscotch will get me into the common room?” you double check
“Yes” he nods quickly “For this month at least. I can give you the next one when we get it” he offers and you can’t help but find him sweet
“Thank you Peter or should I say…wormtail?” You try it out, knowing you made the right call when his eyes light up
“You can call me Wormy” he smiles, gifting you the nickname Lily and Marlene calls him, solidifying that you were not only trusted but now a friend in his eyes
“Wormy. Got it” you nod, smiling away
Peter looks up towards the portrait then back to you “We should get going. It was really nice to officially meet you though”
“Likewise” you nod “Bye wormy” you begin to walk away, looking back and waving
“Bye y/n” he does the same
Tumblr media
You pressed your hand to the wall, panting as you caught your breath. After a few deep breaths you compose and push yourself off of the wall. Opening the door to the classroom, you find Alex and Amos at opposite ends of the room, paper in front of them with an empty place in the centre for yourself
“Miss y/l/n” the professor greets as you gently shut the door behind you “Just in time. Take a seat dear”
You return the smile she gives you and sit down. As you do your eyes flick to Alex, who waves happily at you like he didn’t see you less than an hour ago for a quick breakfast. You giggle quietly at him, waving back before you turn to Amos. It’s harder to hold your giggles this time as he looks one second away from head planting the desk
“Now everyone is here…oh y/n dear can I get your wand before I forget” she moves towards your desk
You nod, hand dipping into your cardigan's inner pocket, well a small stitch you added to most of your wear as it proved useful and was rather cool, like the wizard version of a holster as Alex would describe it, hence you, he and Amos all had them. Grasping your wand, you hand it over, pointed side facing yourself. She smiles, accepting it and walking over to her desk, placing it in one of the drawers before locking it
“So” she clasps her hands together “I have some errands to run and since you didn’t do anything exceptionally wrong, your punishment is to sit here the whole day bored while the sun is out” she says, to which you all smile, no cleaning jars or rearranging books for you today “Now I’m going to lock the door while I’m away, if there is an emergency…” she points towards the window “…please hang as safely as you can out of that window and call on Madam Hooch, she shall be out there all morning”
You all giggle at that one, even she seems to be holding her own as well. It was funny, much like the marauders McGonagall was soft with a few other students outside Gryffindor, your little trio being one such group
“Do we get lunch?” Amos squints at the professor, of course he only has energy to think about his stomach
She gives him a charmed look “I’m a professor not a monster Mr Diggory of course you will all have half an hour for lunch…not enough time to run to Hogsmeade…unless you know a passage of course” she gives you a wink before walking towards the door “Any other questions?” you all shake your heads “Good good. I’ll see you lot in a couple of hours”
With a small smile she leaves, closing the door while you, Alex and Amos turn towards it, waiting for the small click signifying the door is locked before you sigh, relaxing in your seats
Alex drums on his desk “What we gonna do then?” he says way too excited for 8:45 on Saturday morning
“Sleep” Amos grumbles, chair screeching as he puts his satchel on the desk, opening it and bring out three pillows and three blankets
“Amos did you seriously bring an extendable bag to detention?” you cross yours arms, false annoyance on your face
“And not tell us!” Alex mimics your movements “Not cool man”
“Not cool at all” you say with a small laugh
Amos just stares at the two of you “Girls it’s before 9am on a weekend day…a weekday end…fuck it a Saturday” he finally gets there “I need my beauty sleep” he points at you both “You can call me uncool or silly all you want…or whatever muggle-y phrases y’all got going…”
“Dunderhead”
“Bampot”
“…” Amos blinks a few times “Was that even English?” he whispers to himself before shaking his head and continuing “Anyway if I had told you” he points at Alex “You would have brought something that would have us dangling out that window and you…” he points at you “…well you’re a sweetheart that would have brought goodies but you were off with your boyfriends” throws his hands in the air
“They aren’t my boyfriends!” you whine, feeling your face get hot
“Are a bit though” Alex has to agree, leaning backwards on the table, hands clutching the sides looking amused to the point you want the table to slide and him to fall “Study dates in the library…meeting them early on the weekends…coming to us for gossips sessions about them…them giving you pet names”
“Love, darling, puppy” Amos mocks as he pushes two desks together in order to make himself a bed
Your face heats faster to the point your whole body feels hot “It’s not like that” you press your lips together, shaking your head so much you’re like a broken bobblehead
“Then explain to us what it’s like” Alex shrugs
“Yes…” Amos hops on the desk, fluffing his pillow “…explain” he gestures his hands like a plater
You and Alex share a look
“Don’t judge me like you two aren’t thinking I’m a genius” he gestures to the cosy blanket “Now explain doll” he says getting himself comfy, laying down on the table like he’s some kind of goddess
“There’s nothing to explain, I’ve hardly had alone time with either since the library incident” you shrug, heart a little heavy yet there is a flutter as you remember the cupboard
“All right, you can keep your secret for the present” Alex says with a smirk
“Yes, I think we will move on now” you giggle at him, moving over to Amos’ satchel to grab a pillow and blanket for yourself “You’re such a Pippin” you state as he joins your side
Alex chuckles “That make you Merry then?” he asks, grabbing his own before copying Amos and pushing desks together
“Nope” you pop the ‘p’ “I’m more of a Sam, without him they never would have made it and without me, you two would probably have gotten yourselves expelled by now” you say earning a ‘true’ from Alex as he pats his pillow
Amos’ upper face scrunches “Pippin…Merry…Sam?” he looks completely lost
You grin, glancing at Amos “If I’m Sam and your Pippin that makes Amos…” you extend the syllables “Should we be sweet or mean?”
“You know where I stand sunshine” he winks while Amos just watches a little scared
“I’m feeling nice. Hi Merry” you wave sweetly at your friend
Alex scoffs “You’ve clearly never seen him with those little wizard cards of his…my precious” he mocks, making his fingers crawl and his eyes wide
“That’s disturbing” Amos notes sitting up, a look of disgust on his face before he looks at you “I will admit I’ve said that but I don’t look like that…also” he holds up a finger “What exactly are we talking about? I know it’s a muggle thing but is it like muggle lore or one of those fancy dancy films of yours like wars of the stars”
“One it’s star wars and two, I wish it was a movie…aww sunshine imagine if they made a movie…” his hands go out in front of him gasping “or movies!” Alex’s exclaims positively beaming
You join him in his excitement, smiling widely as you clear some things from the window sill and lay the blanket over it so you had a soft seat “That would be so cool, they definitely have the tech of it now” you perch yourself on your own bed turning back to Amos “Oh sorry Ams, we’re talking about a book. Lord of the Rings specifically but some of the characters including the creepy one is in the Hobbit as well”
“He’s not creepy, he’s just…misunderstood” Alex defends as he climbs up on the desk
“Weirdly accurate” you giggle quietly, seeing his point
“A book…how long?” Amos asks interested “A-actually, what is it about before I commit?” he eyes the two of you
“Long” you nod, nose scrunching as you remember the length “Both are trilogies but really are just one big story. Anyway, they follow these halflings, more commonly known as Hobbits. The Hobbit follows Bilbo Baggins and the Lord of the rings follows Frodo Baggins, although there are accounts from different people the two books are meant to be written by them. They both go on epic adventures, but you should lord of the rings first even though it takes place after Bilbo’s journey and is technically the sequel, there’s just a lot more background lore it in…right Alex? Been a year since I read it all the way through”
“Yeah read that first because you’ll know more about the creepy one when we give you the hobbit and everything makes a little more sense” he agrees “Plus Lord of the rings is fucking brilliant” he nods, smiling like a big kid
“I’m assuming you both have a copy here?” Amos looks between the two of you
“Yeah I’ll give you mine later tonight if you want? Then we can watch you lose Lord of the rings virginity together” Alex says with a grin
“Eww. Alex!” you whine
“Mate, I love you but why’d you have to say it like that” Amos joins you, looking at your friend in a light disgust “Weirdo”
“Seconded” you nod
“Thrid-ed but still it’s magic, like actual magic, you’ll love it” Alex strangely agrees before assuring his friend
“He’s right, complete idiot, but he’s right” you lightly tease earning a small ‘hey’ from Alex
“Okay, now that’s settled and although I have something to ask you to do later, Amos needs his beauty sleep before Minerva comes back” Amos says to which you and Alex hold up your hands
Alex proceeds to lay down, facing upwards on his makeshift bed while you swivel your legs to sit on the window, back against the wall but it’s softened by the pillow. Leaning your head against the glass you stare out aimlessly, eyes flicking from the mountains to the forest to the lake, eventually making their way down to the pitch outside.
You held back giggles as you watched training, there was a bunch of first years who failed their tests trying again but they weren’t the cause of your laughter. No, it was a girl, you didn’t know her name but you knew she loved pink, in fact she was adorned in it now shouting a bunch of weird rules that were over a hundred years old at the professor. You had to commend Madame Hooch for her patience, you weren’t a violent person but you sure would have shouted or…maybe accidently released a bludger in the girls’ direction by now
“Minerva sounds funny” you let out a giggle at Alex, commenting on Amos’ use of the name more than ten minutes later “Like Minnie better…Minerva sounds way too formal…oh what about Minnie bo’ binnie that’s…”
“Alex go to sleep or I will throw you out the window”
Tumblr media
“Be back by one!” you hear McGonnell call out as you exit and you all send a series of ‘okays’ her way before the door closes
“What’s the plan?” Alex asks after you take a few paces down the corridor
“I need to go visit Rem…a-and Sirius about the project” you clarify as smirks appear on their faces
Amos nods, taking off his bag “You take this then” he holds it out but Alex grips his wrist
“What? Why does she get it?” he complains, huffing like a little kid
“She has a name” you say teasingly
“Sorry” he kisses your forehead “Why does sunshine get it?” he corrects before looking at you “…better?”
“Much”
“Because” Amos tugs his arm out of Alex’s grip “She…sorry…doll over here won’t convince me to bring a bunch of useless stuff that will get us caught, I mean if it wasn’t for her we would have been found snoozing”
“He’s right. I’m surprised she didn’t hear your snores echoing throughout the castle” you say, accepting the bag and placing it over your shoulder, hugging the strap as you listen to them bicker
“I’m not that loud” Alex maintains
“And I have great self-control” Amos bites back, voice laced with sarcasm
“I swear you two are like an old married couple” you shake your head, giggles escaping your lips at Amos’ gasp
“You’ll find Amos’ taste runs more towards the blonde end of the spectrum” Alex ruffles his friends’ hair, earning nudge and slap to his hand
“Fuck off, at least I have a type, yours is like spinning the wheel of mystery” Amos taunts
“I like diversity” Alex shrugs
“And I’m going to go” You bow out, stepping back from them and beginning to walk away
“Oh, bye doll”
“Bye sunshine”
“Bye chaotic husbands” you wave behind you, giggling to yourself as you hear Alex and Amos continuing to bicker, not about being husbands but, about who would be the better one
Tumblr media
You quickly made your way to Gryffindor tower, slowing down as you reached the portrait of the fat lady, she eyes you for a second before speaking “You aren’t one of mine…pretty though” she comments and you look down shying away
“Butterscotch” you say timidly, biting your lip as you peer up at her
She tilts her head, gaze on you unrelenting “What was that dearie?”
“B-butterscotch?” you almost ask, nervous Peter got the password wrong or maybe they changed it…or…
“Who told you the password?” she questions
“Am I allowed in?” you avoid it, you weren’t going to tell on Peter, not when he’d been so sweet to you
“Yes” she smiles, her firm expression softening in an instant
“Wait…what?” you look at her in complete confusion “You’re letting me in?”
“Yes, only because you didn’t blab on your source. If you had I would have made you watch me practice then fall asleep without ever letting you in” she says simply before opening the portrait “Have fun dearie” she shouts as you climb through and you smile, even the portrait was a true Gryffindor
Walking into the common room you couldn’t help but notice how different it was to Hufflepuff. Your entrance was hidden, in fact ironically dingy compared to the interior while Gryffindor’s was rather grand only to lead into a quaint, yet cosy room
“Oh hello!”
You jump at the sound, head whipping over to see Marlene McKinnon and Lily Evans by the fire, various makeup and beauty products surrounding them
You give them a bashful look “Hi”
Lily smiles, green eyes illuminated by the fire, it was no wonder James fell for her she really was something “Y/n right?” she asks sweetly
You nod, stepping towards them
Marlene smirks, hair held up by what looks like chopsticks as she looks you up and down “So you’re the one that’s captured our boy’s attention” she wiggles her eyebrows
Lily nudges her “Don’t mind Marls, she’s just jealous they got to you first”
You let out a nervous giggle “Do you know where Remus is?” you wonder, seeing a flash of something in their eyes, the same thing you saw in Peters
“He’s in his dorm I think, Sirius might be there too or he’s off with Peter and Jami….P-potter…” she corrects before sighing “…doing merlin knows what” her cheeks begin to tint “We’re hiding from them in here. Ironically this is the last place they’ll look” she confesses
You nod, sharing a small look with Marlene at the girls slip up. You would never tell anyone but your friends as the saga of James and Lily was like a real life tv drama and you were all shipping Jilly till the end
“Thank you” you look around the room “How do I get there? This place is so different to mine”
“Up those stairs, along and then down…I know makes no sense but we Gryffindor’s we aren’t meant to be” Marlene grins
“What are the differences between ours and yours?” Lily wonders, blowing on her freshly painted nails
“Mine has lots of plants, and ironically light for being underground. It’s kinda like being in a tree trunk? I don’t know if that makes any sense” your close your eyes, feeling a tad embarrassed for no real reason other than talking to strangers
“That sounds cute. You’ll have to sneak us in sometime sweetheart” Marlene throws a wink your way
Your eyes widen, pressing your lips together and glad there’s no stairs this time
“She’s kidding” Lily assures you “Unless you want to do so of course” she adds and you laugh, the playfulness in her tone surprising you but it’s a welcome one, perhaps her and James aren’t so different
You look towards the dorm stairs “It’s been nice chatting but I need to go back to detention soon so…” you gesture, pointing awkwardly
Lily nods while Marlene rummages to pick up a few products before standing up and walking over to you
“What are you doing?” you mumble as she holds up the what you think are the bottles lip gloss to your lips
She just smiles, finally choosing one “Part your lips for me sweetheart” she asks and you find yourself doing as she says, letting her swipe the gloss over your bottom lip “Do this” she pops her lips
You do it, rubbing your lips together gently
“Perfect now on your way sweetheart” she winks
You feel your face heat as you nod and turn away, quickly heading up the stairs and leaving the two girls somewhat amused
“She’s utterly adorable” Marlene notes sitting back down
Lily hums “She is…you clock she asked for…” she starts, beginning to paint her toenails
“Remus?” Marlene finishes and Lily nods “Yeah I noticed that too…oh and you remember Remus saying she was pretty in charms the other day?” Lily hums in agreement about to say something when Marlene spots someone “Oi Peter!” she shouts scaring the living daylights out of the poor boy
“Merlin Marls don’t do that!” he clutches his chest, breathing heavy
Lily stands helping the boy over to sit with them “You okay Wormy?” she asks softly, rubbing his back to help calm him
He nods “Yeah I’m doing alright now” he eyes Marlene who shrugs innocently before blowing him a kiss “Did you need me for something?” he looks between the two
The girls grin
Tumblr media
You walk along the hall, reading the names on each of the doors “Longbottom, Jordon and…I can’t even read that one” you mumble to yourself continuing on to the next door “Brown…Vane…nope” you sigh walking up to the final door, hoping that this is them or you’re in the wrong place “The marauders stay out or risk our wrath” you read, giggling at the sign especially with the ‘just kidding’ written below it followed by a messy ‘or are we?’
Knocking on the door you could hear the sound of running water, and you felt yourself grow a little hot at the thought of Remus in the shower. You knock again, but this time hear a muffled ‘come in’ and you slowly open the door, wincing at the creak caused from how tentatively you were opening it
“Wormtail did you get the…y/n!” Remus’ eyes widen the moment he spots you and your eyes copy at the sight of him shirtless in bed
Turning around quickly you hit your elbow off of the door “I’m…oww…I’m so sorry!” you cringe, panting from your shock and embarrassment…as well as trying to get the pretty sight of his bare chest out of your mind
Remus on the other hand was dead still, looking down at his chest then to you and closing his eyes. He hated his body, if people though his face was scarred and ugly, his chest was much worse, covered in old gashes, scratches and of course the peaking of his original bite marks by his upper hip which he was thankful for his book covering
“It-it’s o-okay” he stutters out placing the book on his nightstand, still processing the why and how you got here “Let me grab a…” he withholds a groan, the aches in his bones from the impending moon not doing him any favours as he leans over his bed to pick up his jumper from the chair
You hear his quiet whines of pain though “A-are you okay?” you ask, not daring to turn around in case he wasn’t just shirtless but completely nude under those covers
“Yes…ahh” he whines, breaths staggering as he feels a sharp pang up his arms and chest
You turn around at that, rushing over to him “Are you okay? What’s wrong?” you kneel down beside the bed, hands finding one of his
Remus’ eye flutter at the contact while his free hand moves to pull the sheets up and cover his bite marks “Yeah, just not having a good day” he admits
You nod, looking at the chair “Were you trying to reach this?” one of your hands leave his to grip the material
He nods timidly and you catch his nervous flicks down do his chest. You don’t say anything, not wishing to draw attention to something he was clearly insecure about, even if you found it rather beautiful in its own way
You hand him the jumper “Thank you” he removes his hands from yours, wincing as he tries to put it on
“Let me” you move up to perch yourself on the edge of his bed “Hands up if you can” you say sweetly with a smile Remus could watch forever
He raises his arms as high as he can, allowing you to slip the jumper on smoothly and much softer than he could himself. He found he loved the slight babying of your actions, the singular attention, the lack of judgement on features he deemed flawless, the dare he say love in your actions, and the blissful feeling of your knuckles running down his sides as you pulled down the jumper’s hem
Yet he can’t stop himself from apologising
“Sorry”
“Why?” you ask so innocently he could cry on the spot
Although he adored the assistance, adored you, he couldn’t help but remember that if you chose him you very well may be caring for him the rest of your life
“Inconvenience” he whispers, not bothering to mask his vulnerability as he pulls at the end of his sleeves
You take his hands again, unsure of what you were doing or if this was a cross in some boundary, only thing you knew was your heart told you this was the right thing to do
“Don’t say that. You never need to apologise for being unwell” you tell him, wearing that smile again
Unwell
You just assumed it was chronic, that this was just a bad day and that he wasn’t really a monster. A monster that wouldn’t care if he loved you and kill you just the same. A monster who lay in the bed ill while an innocent puff of a red riding hood looked after him…the big bad wolf
“Rem” you squeeze his rougher hand with yours while the other cups his cheek
For once he was thankful for his heighten scenes as he could hear the sweet rhythm of your heart, the electric touch of skin of his and your scent which was near intoxicating, like a drug specifically made to comfort him.
His nerves begin to dissipate and instead he savours each second of your touch, your presence, your scent…
“Yeah?” he whispers, eyes flicking across your face, resisting the urge of your lips, so shiny and alluring, and instead lets his heart ache at how much care is in your soft gaze
“You spaced out” you inform him with a smile on your face, silently thanking Marlene in the back of your mind
“Oh” he chuckles, head subconsciously tilting into your hand briefly before his eyebrow furrow “Why are you here?” he asks softly but your hand still slips from his cheek, coldness spreading across it at the loss of contact but little did he know your fingers felt the same
“I came earlier before detention…but it took a while to find someone and I was going to be a little late so Peter gave me the password” your eyes drift down to the blanket covering him on the way “I see the…” you make bunny ears “…’borrowed’ blankets are being put to good use” you note, smiling at the red fuzzy material
When Remus first watched your gaze fall he panicked, self-conscious that you would ask about his scars but then he chuckled, realising of course you, beautiful, big hearted you wouldn’t do such a thing, nor be so intrusive. His heart warmed at the playfulness in your voice, as well as the fact Peter must trust you if he confessed what he was really up to this morning
“You ever had borrowed blankets?” he wonders yet your little smile already tells him the answer “You stole blankets?” he asks, adoring your bashful look at the softest accusation known to wizard
You nod and he smiles, the pain of the moon still there yet was duller in your presence, as you distracted him from it and made him feel normal, just like a certain deer, rat and dog did
“I’d love to say it was Alex and Amos’ idea” you confess and his smile turns prideful
“You what to know something?” you nod “Remember last year when all those bully’s hair turned pink?”
“That was your idea?” your eyes widen in the best way, the practically shine
“Prongs…sorry James, and Sirius wanted to make them bald but I thought that was a bit far” he tells you with a small wink
“There hair is still pinkish” you giggle
“Better than bald…besides pinks pretty” he defends his actions softly
“Pretty in pink” he chuckles “You know they bullied me and Alex too so technically you’re my hero”
Now his eyes widen “Should have gone with bald then” he jokes yet hopes you hear the underlying, I’ll be your hero anytime my love
Your giggles warm his heart and your hand hold his a little tighter, merlin he could swear you’ve also shuffled closer on the bed
As the laughs die down you smile sadly “I can’t stay long” you inform him, blues evident in your voice and Remus’ heart flutters and aches at that, gloomy you’re leaving yet glad you’ll miss him
“You never did tell me why you dropped by? Like my company that much puppy?” he asks coyly, a smirk appearing as he can hear your heart stutter like your breath at the petname
“Maybe” you whisper so quietly it’s almost a thought, of course unbeknownst to you he hears it and has to hold in the biggest smile “I…came to ask if you and Sirius got the yarn…and if I could maybe grab it?”
His eyes widen, nodding right away but as he tries to get up he groans, pink spreading across his cheeks and feeling embarrassed he can’t even get up properly with the pre-moon ache in his bones
“Hey” your hand slips from his and you gently push him back down by the shoulders “Tell me where it is and I’ll get it”
Your touch and voice are as kind as you, so kind he settles just a little “It’s in the top drawer of that cabinet over there” he points, cheek now more of a light red
You smile, moving off the bed and walking over while Remus watches fondly, finally getting a look at your outfit, and how cute you look it in, almost certain it’s the same cardigan from your first meeting.
You gently pull the drawer open, eyes searching inside before you pull out a bunch of rusty red yarn, your eyes linger in the drawer though, hand reaching in once more and pulling out some yellow, almost muster coloured yarn
“Could you not decide?” you jest just a little, heart fluttering at the thought of them buying your house colour
The knuckle of his finger comes up to wipe his cheek, almost to try and wipe away the blush before it settles below his ear “We drew up a concept in red but then we saw the yellow…and thought of you” he admits, sending your heart into overdrive
Remus can not only hear it too but see your appreciative smile, fingers fiddling with the yellow, eyes fixated on it with a hinting of an idea in them when you turn back to him
“Can I take both?” you ask
Again, he nods right away “Of course”
You smile brightly, moving back around to your previous position and taking a seat “It’s pretty” you tell him, meeting his eyes
“It is” he replies looking right at you
Your breath hitches, eyes flicking down and around, feeling a little silly such a simple thing made you flustered while Remus reveals in it
“I’m going to start working on it tonight” you start and he feels himself freeze, hoping you aren’t going to ask him to join, his heart couldn’t bear to tell you no, nor see your disappointment “I was going to ask you to work on it after detention but I think Amos has this thing planned” he relaxes, thank you Amos “You okay?”
His eyes widen, realising his sigh of relief was a little too loud “Yeah, just achy” he gestures to his arms
Your hands act before your brain can think, sliding up the sleeve if his jumper and softly rubbing his skin. Remus’ stares at you in a happy shock until you freeze, mouth like a fish opening and closing
“Sorry” you pull your hands away, but Remus grabs them
“Sorry” he lets go this time, cringing just like you and he closes his eyes, feeling embarrassed before he hears it
A giggle
Not one of mocking but more of you laughing at how equally awkward and shy you are, and when he opens his eyes he starts chuckling too. Laughing with you came so naturally, so much when his hand brushes with yours a little he takes it, interlinking them with no hesitation
His fingers fiddle with yours as the laughter dies down “Rem?” you gain his attention
“Yeah love?” the name slips out easily and the smile you wear after is his world
“Is there anything that does help the aching?” you wonder, a little crinkle between your eyebrows
He thinks for a moment, feeling a little sick about the idea of lying completely so he tells you the truth with one minorly big detail left out “There are charms for it, they soothe the pain but I don’t have the strength to continually cast them and potions are…a little expensive” he admits, the last part lower
You nod “Well, I was going to ask if you wanted to work on charming the yarn tomorrow, I wish I had time right now but maybe you could teach me some of them?” you ask
His heart warms, so much he almost feels breathless “Yeah, need to be in the afternoon or evening” he tells you, hoping to merlin the moon will be kind and he’ll be okay
“Of course, I’m going to Hogsmeade tomorrow morning with my friends…and merlin knows what Alex and Amos have planned for me once I get…” you head turns towards the clock, your smile dropping to a sad one as you turn back
“You need to go” he says with a similar expression
“Yeah…” you nod yet your hand lingers in his “…you mentioned earlier you made a concept?”
He nods, never letting go of your hand as he leans forward to grab it from the little pile of papers nested on his bed beside him
“Here” he hands it to you and you notice the red paint on his hand “I’m sorry about the scribbles Sirius and I worked on its last thing in class yesterday” he explains
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“You can tell Sirius hi from me too” you giggle reading the note
“Will do” he nods with a chuckle “We would have shown you but I wanted to colour it first” he adds, cheeks tinting ever so slightly
“It’s pretty” you say looking right at him, just like he did earlier before looking down at the parchement “It’s very well done” your fingers glaze over it
Remus wanted nothing more in that moment than to kiss you, grab your face and kiss you…maybe even more than kiss you…but could you blame him? Your slightly parted lips holding the smallest quirk of a smile, they were a little chapped from when he would see you chewing on them in concentration, yet they shined, and he knew they would feel so soft if he could just reach out and run his rougher fingers along them…press his lips to yours.
“Rem?” you tilt your head but he continues to stare into nowhere although nowhere looked awfully like your lips “Rem?” you prompt
Your hand moves to cup his and the moment your skin meet his you’ve brought him back to reality “Sorry” he shakes his head, cheeks tinting quickly like he was caught in the act and he was…he so was “Getting a little spacy. Must be tired” he waves it off, hoping you understand
And you do “I’ll leave you to sleep then” you give his hand a squeeze before you let go and stand up
His heart aches at your leaving but he knows you have to…yet, you aren’t leaving?
His breath hitches as your lips meet his forehead, a tender hand placed in the back on his head for a mere moment before it’s all gone
“Take care of yourself” you tell him before turning, but he clocks your bashful expression before you almost rush towards the door with the yarn and paper
“Bye love” he manages to get out, it’s short, brief and breathless and he’s scared you don’t clock it as the door begins to close
But the door stops at just a crack “Bye Rem” your voice similar, slipping through softly like a wisp in the wind then the door clicks closed
The moment it does Remus wears the giddiest, biggest smile, flopping back on the bed and letting his head hit the pillow. His fingers coming up and grazing the skin. It felt like his first kiss all over again and yet you had only kissed his forehead, he could only imagine what it feels like to really kiss you. His head fell to the side, not clocking the shower stopping as he grasps your book, pulling it to his chest and holds it tightly, like he’s holding a part of you when his chin tucks over it
He doesn’t hear the bathroom door open either, revealing Sirius in just a towel, crunching his curls with the shirt James specifically told him not to use.
Sirius eyes his friend, smiling yet there’s a dull ache in his chest as he feels like he’s been thrown back in time
That dumb smile…that dumb beautiful smile that he could describe as lovesick
The smile he wore when Sirius kissed him for the first time, the same smile he himself wore time and time again until that horrid night. The one where he threw away it all in an instant, knowing he’d never be the reason for that smile again
Although maybe there was a chance for him to find it again, or at least let himself be open to it. If Remus could heal, let that girl from the bookshop into his heart like something from a fairy tale, then he could too. He knew you were special, he still wasn’t sure in what way but his heart was ready if it was love once more
“That must be some book” he comments amused and chuckling as his friend jumps out of his skin
Remus’ breaths are heavy as he sits up, a small well of guilt in his stomach forming “You’re an arsehole” he huffs, finally looking at his friend, eyes lingering on his glistening chest as he clocks the tattoo on his upper hip
Sirius smirks at that “Eyes up here Moons” he pokes his cheek with his tongue
Remus lets out a laugh, cheeks a fame for the, hell, he didn’t know what time this afternoon “I’m surprised you didn’t get it redone” he nods to the ink
Sirius’ eyes drift down to the very shoddily done stick n’ poke, his first tattoo and done by the boy in front of him “Your fault it’s shit” he laughs, moving to sit on the bed next to Remus’ facing him
“My fault!?” Remus laughs “You’re the one that squealing the entire time”
“Was not” Sirius defends himself, his own cheeks brushing with colour
“Were too” Remus moves around to face him, book still firmly on his now crossed lap “It took us the whole night to finish it. You were such a baby”
“I was not a baby!”
“Yes you were” Sirius huffs at that like a child so Remus teases him further “Least I didn’t cry”
The boy scoffs “Yeah but you’ll find you have a certain genetic advantage”
“Nah. I think you’re just a baby”
“Prick”
“Wank” Remus rebuts before they burst out laughing
The laughter is familiar for them both, and for a moment Remus forgets about the triangle only he knew he was in. While for Sirius things finally felt normal for the first time since they got back as he had been worried Remus was angry at him this week, acting a little weird and not just moon is due weird
As the laughter dies down Sirius looks at the door then back to Remus “Did someone come in? I could swear I heard muffled sounds in the shower…just hope it wasn’t next door again” he wiggles his shoulders remembering
“Not next door thank merlin” Remus copies him, never would the look at them the same again “Y/n dropped by” he confesses, not missing the way Sirius’ eyes light up
“And I missed her?” Remus nods causing Sirius to sigh “If I’d known she was dropping by I wouldn’t have bothered doing my whole routine” he sulks, groaning as he flops backwards, legs parting ever so slightly
Remus’ guilt was put on hold as he raises his hand laughing “Pads mate…”
Sirius props himself up on his elbows, realising soon enough what his friend was referring too and closing his legs “Not like you haven’t seen it before” he winks
Remus’ feels his cheeks grow hot “The context was very different back then” he says, a smile grazing his face
“Wait” Sirius finally fully registers that you, a Hufflepuff, were in his dorm “How did y/n get up here?” he smirks, more than impressed
“Wormtail gave her the password this morning” Remus tells him
Sirius lets an ‘ah’ before asking “Did she just leave?” he gestures to the door, and if Remus knows Sirius which he’s sure he does he’s thinking of running after her
“Yeah but she’s heading back to detention now. She grabbed the yarn and our sketch before she left though”
“Oh yeah…forgot the puffs had detention today…sunshine classic” he chuckles to himself before seeing Remus wince “You alright?” he asks, tone shifting drastically
“Yeah could you…” he starts but Sirius is already on it “Thank you” he sighs in relief the moment the spell is cast
“Anything for you moony” Sirius gives him a smile, now sitting beside him on the bed “Did she like the yellow yarn?” he wonders
There is it was again, anything for him…merlin was Remus conflicted
“Yeah she loved it” Remus nods, as does Sirius who wears a delighted smile at the knowledge “She says hi by the way” he adds and watches as Sirius’ smile widens, weirdly as nervous as it made Remus he didn’t regret it, he would never regret making Sirius Black smile
“Y/n mention or say anything else?” he asks, placing his wand in his mouth while he bunches up his hair and twists it before taking his wand and twirling it around into a messy bun
Remus watches him in awe, he’s seen it hundreds of times but still found the simple act impressive, especially since he watched Lily try to do the same thing for two hours straight in the library once before throwing her wand...and yes, it was proceeded by him sneaking her to Hogsmeade to get it fixed
“She’s going to start on the knitting tonight” Sirius’ head snaps up “Don’t worry she, Alex and Amos have something planned” his shoulders relax
“Good, she say anything about…” Sirius waves his hand in front of him
Remus lets out a chuckle, swatting his hand “Only if I was okay” he can’t stop the smile on his face so he looks down at the book, fingers lining the covers edge “She’s going to come tomorrow afternoon or evening though”
“That’s good, give us and you time to rest in the morning” Sirius nods, eyes drawn to the book as well “You really like that book don’t ya?” he notes, eyes flicking up to meet Remus’
Out of everyone Remus hadn’t talked about it to Sirius one on one, he explained the plot to James, and Peter…although Peter was a rat and enjoying cheese at the time so who knows if he was listening, but not Sirius. If anything, he’d avoided until now a one on one with him in general…what a shitty friend I am
“I do” he nods firmly “It’s a good book, good plot, characters” his eyes return to the book
“And the girl who sold it to you was really something” Sirius adds, earning another nod and funny smile from Remus “You should go home at Christmas and meet her again…maybe ask for her address to write or those muggle phone numbers” he suggests and the guilt in Remus’ stomach returns
If we were going to tell him now’s the time
“Sirius…” he starts but loses his words the moment he looks into those grey eyes
“Yeah Moons?” he smiles, though it soon morphs to concern “What’s wrong?”
“Y-Sh-ugh” he can’t do it “Can you cast the spell again?” he asks, eyes a little glossy as Sirius nods right away, pulling the wand out of his hair and begins to cast the spell with care
“I got you Moons”
I am a horrible person
Tumblr media
You smiled all the way back to McGonagall’s class room, hugging the strap to Amos’ bag which held the yarn and concept design as you had your own idea. You were going to make Remus his own jumper, one which would soothe his pain, help him…a gift you would make with love and without the knitting charm. Actually, you would have to thank Mrs Jamison next time you saw her for all those lessons she gave you…
What the hell are they doing?
“Hey sunshine!” Alex greets waddling sideways with Amos holding what you realise is a rather large and fancy telescope
“Hi?” you shake your head “Didn’t you give me the bag for this exact eventuality?” you wonder with a giggle
They place it down “Yes doll but we always planned to bring this” Amos explains patting it
“A telescope?” you confirm
“Yes”
“A telescope” you say again
“Yeah” Amos shrugs alongside Alex
“Can I ask why?”
“Yes, but we have five minutes to get this thing in that bag before we need to get back in there so we’ll answer it after sunshine” Alex says, pointing at the telescope and then the bag
You eye the bag, taking it off your shoulders and trying to do the math “I know it’s extendable but I think even that has limits” you state, the muggle part of your brain exploding
“She has a point actually” Alex scratches the back of his head “I don’t think you’ve thought this all the way through Ams” he says to the boy who scoffs
“Me?” he places a hand to his chest “You’re a part of this plan too”
“Yes, but he never thinks things through” you cut in
“Cheeky” Alex eyes you before turning back to Amos “But she’s right…me not thinking before acting is the reason we have this detention”
“Okay whatever” Amos puts his hands up “Just trust me…please” he pleads when you and Alex give him a look “Take one end of the bag each and open it up”
You and Alex do as he says, taking one end of the satchel each and moving apart, lips parting and looking down at it in awe as the opening grows
“Place it on the floor” Amos instructs “Alex help me lift and doll you guide us”
After almost dropping the telescope along with Alex in, the boys finally line it up properly and slide it into place
“That is what you call a convenient side pocket” you note looking down into the bag while Alex and Amos take an end each closing up the bag until it looked like a regular one again
“You can thank my dad for that” Amos says “Won it in a card game against some wizard with a…what’s those things called again…nifflers?”
You and Alex freeze for a moment ‘no?…no!’ you mouth, both of your faces morphing into awe before needing to hold your chuckles
“What?” Amos asks, wrapping the bag around him, looking a little confused
“Nothing mate, we’ll tell you later. Can’t keep Minnie bo binny…oh hello Min-a-bin-a-McGonagall” Alex says, correcting himself terribly and just nodding at the end, accepting that it was in fact terrible
“Please come in” is all she says, rolling her eyes at your friends but when you pass she gives you a quick smile
“Miss?” you call as you take your seat
“Yes Miss Y/l/n?” she tilts her head
“Can I work on my charms project?”
She looks surprised but agrees “I don’t see why not” she glances at Alex and Amos “You boys take charms as well correct?” they nod “You may work as a group, quietly”
Alex and Amos stand, moving to join your table. As the sit on either side, Alex reaches into his satchel, grabbing some parchment and quills for you all while you silently ask Amos for his bag to get the plans Remus gave you earlier
There’s only the occasional whisper passed between the three of you. Amos was busy sketching or writing something, something being the word as he was hunched over in complete concertation and his arm blocking whatever it was from view. Alex, surprisingly, did some work, even if he did purposely bother you and write on your page a few times…and got pinched when he spilt his ink in what he whispered was an artistic technique for his own project
“What do you think?” you whisper, gaining both Amos and Alex’s attention leaning back on the stool so they could see your sketch, heavily inspired by Sirius and Remus’ but still, you deemed this one more remus-y compared the original that screamed Sirius
“Love it sunshine” Alex gives your leg a quick squeeze
You and he turn to Amos for his thoughts but find him digging in his bag. Your eyebrows furrow, glancing up to check the professor wasn’t looking…although if the telescope fell out you all would be in bigger trouble than a simple detention
“Ams” Alex hisses as quietly as he can
“One…moment” Amos says quietly yet casually “Ah-ha” he pulls out a tin, a paintbrush and a small strand of yarn that had frayed off the end “Looks great doll but you should colour it to get the real effect” he places them all down
You heart warms “Thanks Amos” you kiss his cheek
His nose scrunches, waving his hand modestly “No problem doll”
“He gives you paints along with a shitty old brush and gets a kiss, while I have a healing book for your boyfriend and I get nah da?” Alex whisper shouts, although if any of you were paying attention you would see the look of amusement on your professor’s face as she graded papers
“I can give you one now?” you offer
“Meaning…less” you kiss his cheek as he huffs
“Forgiven?” you ask, fluttering your eyelashes at him
“For now…” he smiles and you nudge him
Around half an hour later detention was coming to a close and you were finished with the painting, but sadly you didn’t have any time to ask their opinions when the professor stands up
“Congratulations you made it through” she comments earning giggles from the three of you “I’ll see you, Miss y/l/n and Mr McConnell on Monday and I’ll see you Mr Diggory same time next Saturday” she smiles
You, Alex and Amos all nod, quickly gathering your stuff but you keep the sketch in your hand
“Bye miss” you give her a smile as you leave
“Bye” Amos waves backwards as he follows you
“Bye Min-a-miss” Alex says, stopping and looking at the professor at the door, cringing quite a bit “You don’t know whether to hate me or love me, do you?”
“After 7 years and knowing someone terrifying similar you would be right, but the answer is both…always both” she replies and with that Alex joins you and Amos out in the hall
“We ready to go?” Alex clasps his hands but then clocks your drawing “Aww that looks so great!”
You smile “You were right Amos, it looks so much better with colour” you look at your friend, giving him a little hug
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“He’s going to love it” he tells you giving your hair a quick kiss
“No no no…” Alex pulls you into him “Remmys gonna love it” Alex teases earning a light smack in the stomach
“Stop” you whine with a slight laugh “So are you two going to tell me why we need the telescope now?”
They grin
“Well doll do you know what astro event is happening tonight?” Amos poses looking awfully proud next to Alex who wears an equal if now more smug expression
You look at them a little sceptically “You mean the full moon?” you say, letting out a tiny laugh
“Walked right into that one, didn’t we?” Alex looks towards Amos
“Little bit yeah” he agrees both looking at each other for one second longer than necessary before the turn back to you at the same time resuming their earlier demeanour “There are two astro related event tonight…”
“…and we happen to have charmed telescope to see the cooler one” Alex finishes
You look at them for a moment, eyes flicking between them “Charmed telescope?” you ask but then you figure it out “Ohhh” you press your hand to your head “That was the bribe?” they nod “I thought you were planning to steal a diamond or commit murder” you start laughing and they laugh with you
“Well technically this telescope is illegal in Britain” Alex informs you amidst chuckles before his head tilts “Although…” oh no you know that although “We should do a big heist again maybe not murder…although that cun…” he stops himself and takes a breath “…Lastrange would deserve it”
“Yeah we haven’t done one in ages” Amos agrees “Alright we’ll put it on the list of things to do but for now the hideout”
You giggle at your friends “Ooo we can finally use the little enchanted terrace on the roof!” you grow excited
“That’s a great idea” Alex taps his nose then points to you “And a greater idea is we should head to the kitchens first and nick a bunch of goodies”
“That is a greater idea” you nod as does Amos and with that you all head off towards the kitchens
“Hideout on a full moon looking at the stars and planets…”
“Plus knitting” you butt in softly
Alex points to the sky “…looking at the stars and planets whilst y/n knits like a little granny…ouch…what could go wrong” he shrugs with a smile
You and Amos stop walking and look at one another while Alex continues walking knowing full well he’s messing with the two of you because what could go wrong…right?
“Well that was ominous as all fuck”

“Please, Professor! You’ve promised us that you’ll have a guess!” Hannah Abbott whined, nudging the small vial towards Hesperia with her chubby finger. She cleared her throat and smirked at the excited giggles that filled the shabby classroom. The bundle of girls that stayed behind after class whispered something among each other, she tried her best not to listen. Looking around, she let out a loud, heavy sigh, rolling her eyes.
“Merlin’s beard, I swear, if it’s just a transfigured Dungbomb I’ll turn all of you into Puffskeins.“ she threatened them with her cherry wand and a tuft of pink sparkles emerged from its tip with a loud crack. She stiffled a laugh when the girls jumped at the sudden noise.
She tucked her wand into the eyelet sown on the inside of her tweed vest, carefully grabbed the vial and twisted it open with a muffled pop. It puffed out a small cloud of iridescent mist, twinkling as it evaporated around her nostrils. The scent hit her senses like a stunning jinx and she immediately recognized the substance, quickly holding it away from her face, her nose scrunched.
“Come on, that’s a low blow, ladies.” she shook her head at their giggles, masking her grin with a frown.
“I remember when Professor Slughorn made us brew Amorentia in fifth year, the smell of mine made him vomit, though. I nearly failed my Potions O.W.L.s, but that’s just between us.” she shrugged as the students erupted in another wave of giggles. She was just about to cork it again when Parvati gasped.
“Professor, please, please tell us what you smell!”
“Yes, say it!”
“We won’t tell anyone, promise!”
The girls babbled over each other until Hesperia sighed and put it to her nose again, making them squeal in excitement.
“Fine, let’s see…” she whispered and closed her eyes. She carefully smelled the glass edge of the vial, trying her best not to accidentaly dip the tip of her nose in it. Her hand softly shook when the cloud swirled around her again.
“…forest soil…cold wind…”
The girls silently chortled and she playfully shushed them, opening one eye to peek at the group.
“…hm, interesting. My sixth-year Transfiguration schoolbook...” she closed her eye again with a dramatic solemn expression and the girls’ laughter ricocheted off the stone walls, clearly oblivious to the fact that it wasn’t a joke. She suddenly felt overpowered by the thought and all mischief dissapeared from her features. Faint annoyed voices filled her ears.
‘Come on, you know how it goes, Moony! You’ve read the chapter.’
‘I can’t do it if you keep staring at me! What kind of tutoring is that?’
‘Merlin, where the hell am I supposed to look, then? I need to see your wand movement.’
‘You’re insufferable sometimes.’
‘Well, so are you! Maybe you should take your own advice for once and eat the damn…’
“…chocolate.”
There was a few seconds of silence after her shivering sigh before she blinked again and swiftly corked the vial, carefully laying it on the table. The memory floated further and further away from her mind. When Hesperia finally looked up, she was met with wide smiles and pink cheeks as the girls uncontrolably giggled.
“Well, I’m certain that you shouldn’t carry such a dangerous substance around the castle. Five points from Hufflepuff, Hannah, I’m sorry.”
The giggles turned into groans and she continued. “Who brewed it? Come on, don’t get all shy now!”
Susan Bones reluctantly raised her hand, rolling her eyes in the process. She started to open her mouth to protest but Hesperia spoke first.
“I might be very bad at Potions, but even I can recognize such a correct and potent brew. Ten points to Hufflepuff for your impressive skills.” she added in a whisper and winked, making the group sigh in relief and break into chortles again.
“Come on, now, off you go. Shoo. If you miss Charms, professor Flitwick will give me detention.” she waved them off and they thanked her, quickly saying goodbye over their shoulders before they errupted into whispers she could no longer hear.
She stared at the simple vial and walked backwards until she hit the uneven wall, resting her back against it. She turned her gaze to the ceiling, mindlessly scanning the dainty frescoes that peppered it. Her chest was flooded by a familiar scorching pain.
She suddenly heard footsteps accompanied by the sound of wood clicking against wood - a cane - as Remus opened the door with a loud creak and walked out of their office above the classroom. He leaned against the chipped wooden doorframe.
“Pomona was right about the Shrivelfig jam, I even managed to fall asleep for a bit. How did it go?” he softly smiled at her and straightened up, slowly limping down the stairs. She caught a glimpse of his worn-out brown sweater but didn’t respond. She just took a deep breath.
Forest soil. Cold wind. Old schoolbooks.
Chocolate.

Casual dom Remus is just him tilting your chin up and making you look at him while you talk about your day. Or side eying someone who was a little too friendly with you in public before sliding your legs into his lap and rubbing your thighs, keeping you there until you leave wherever you are.
Kinda from this au
Parties are inevitable with friends like Sirius and James, and you like going to them, but now that you and Remus are actually together it makes your belly tingle.
Sure you’re still yourself, but his attention is glued to you even more and it hasn’t stopped making you shy yet.
When you get to the party it’s in full swing, you spot James taking shots with Lily on his arm, Sirius behind the bar (which can’t be good for whoever he’s making a drink for), and then you spot your girls.
Turning to Remus you say, “I’ll be right back,” he nods and kisses your lips swiftly, smiling when your body seems to go a little slack.
“That’s fine, darling. I’m just over by James and Siri.”
You don’t meet back up with Remus until you’re all sitting on the sofa with a couple others.
You’re next to Remus, his hand around your shoulder as you lean into him and half pay attention to James’ story.
Remus suspects the three Long Island iced teas and the four shots of just straight tequila you’d had was making a little hard to pay full attention.
You can’t feel the eyes of one of the guys on you, but Remus does and he scowls.
It’s not the first time people have stared at you like this, Remus suspects it wouldn’t be the last either, but it still annoys him.
Slyly, he pulls your thighs across his lap your chest presses into his at the shift in position. “Remmy,” you whine and he smiles.
“Sorry dove,” he stamps a kiss to your forehead, helping you lay comfortably against him again. One of Remus hands holds your hip and the other trails up and down the expanse of your thighs.
“Everyone will see,” you whisper to Remus and he leans down, lips beside your ear.
“Want me to stop?” Because as possessive as he’s feeling now, he wouldn’t dream of making you uncomfortable.
You deliberate quietly, and Remus pauses his ministrations. “No,” you shake your head. “Feels nice.”
You sneak a kiss to his lips and tuck yourself back into his side before he can try to sneak another one that you know would end up being far more charged than the first one.
When Remus looks up the guy who’d been staring at you is nowhere to be found.

I keep seeing Remus lupin x quiet and shy reader and I find it funny bc his canon and fanon ships are with two of the most annoyingly obnoxious loud mouthed people to ever exist. This man is the quiet one in the relationship, he attracts the very loud and crude.

The Short-Lived Happiness of (Y/N) Riddle:
The boys had been debating on new nicknames. They couldn’t call you Princess anymore. They vowed to never do it again, never put you back in that position again. But calling you by just your name was starting to get old to them. They didn’t like any that they were coming up with but also didn’t feel like you would respond to the ones they thought were good.
“Well, I like Sunshine. Goes with her little nails,” Remus said.
“She won’t respond. Probably won’t even know what it’s about,” James said.
“Yes she will.”
“Okay, Moony, just because you snuggle her the most doesn’t mean you know her better than we do.”
“Yeah,” Peter echoed. “She only cuddles with you the most because you’re warmer than us three.”
“Alright,” Remus shrugged as he opened the door to their dorm. “Sunshine!”
“Yes?” you asked, poking your head out from your blanket.
The boys had snuck out to map more of Hogwarts and you slept in Peter’s bed, telling them to show you what they plotted when they got back.
Remus smirked. “I told you she’d respond to it.”
He sat down on his bed and you immediately moved to be in his arms. Sirius and Peter scoffed while James just pulled a confused face. They started laughing when you looked up and frowned at Remus.
“Why are you cold?” You looked at the others. “Why is he cold?”
“Moony’s the only one who can swim to the bottom of the lake and come back up,” Sirius said.
“The only one? Or you made him?”
Remus was a bit surprised when you cuddled into him even more and got underneath the duvet.
“I still like you the best, you’re forgiven for being freezing.”
Sirius came over and poked your cheek, James and Peter soon followed suit. You ignored it at first until Remus joined in and all four boys were poking your cheek. You popped open an eye.
“Can I help you?”
“Why do you like him the best?” Peter asked.
“Remmy’s a—”
“Remmy? Since when did you— why does he get the second nickname?”
You sighed. “Siri, Jamesie, Petey, Remmy. Are you happy?”
“Yes,” the three of them said.
“Alright, well, Remmy is the tallest. I like feeling surrounded when we cuddle.”
“Sunshine, we’re all taller than you.”
“Boys, if muggle books have taught me anything, werewolves win every time. Don’t ask questions.”
Remus chuckled and pulled you into him a bit more. He swatted at the other three’s hands so they wouldn’t bother you again.
~~
You seemed like an all new person. The Marauders had begged McGonagall if they could stay over the summer. When she said no, they sat in her office for four days straight until she got Dumbledore who approved them to stay because it would be nice if you had company. Without any other students around, they saw how absolutely carefree you could be. They all smiled as they helped you do your work around the school. The four of them chuckled as they cleaned the Hogwarts’ trophy case while you skated by on a mop that was cleaning the outer corridor, hollering at the top of your lungs. Sirius scratched at his hair that he had put up in a bun.
“We were all awful for ever messing with her, she really is Sunshine, also loud as hell. Moony… Moony?!”
The other boy snapped back to their attention. Sirius eyed him up and down.
“You’re drooling,” he said nonchalantly. “Don’t tell me a certain someone has something to do with that.”
Remus went back to cleaning trophies. The other boys did the same, occasionally cracking a few jokes. Eventually, after you came back around with the mop before disappearing again, he set down his cleaning rag.
“I like (Y/N). Like I want to be with her, I fancy her a whole lot.”
The other boys looked at their friend. It made sense. You and Remus moved a bit different than you and everyone else. With you, Remus was careful but also completely relaxed. However they felt about you paled in comparison to the boy in front of them. Peter nodded.
“Okay. Do you want us to back off a bit with the snuggles?”
“What? No, no you’re fine. We’re her friends, what am I getting jealous for… I told you guys because I was hoping someone would know how to stop.”
Sirius blinked. “You want to stop liking Sunspot?”
“Sunspot?” James asked.
“I don’t know, if Moony likes her I thought he should get Sunshine for himself. Trying to keep with the sun theme.”
“Hmm, nice. Yeah, Padfoot’s right though. You want to stop liking her?”
“Guys, why would she like me? She has no reason to, not after everything that’s happened.”
They thought Remus was potentially wrong but couldn’t convince him otherwise. Even when you came into the room, none of their facial expressions or gestures seemed to get through to him. You immediately went to Sirius and played with the rings on his fingers. Subtly, he pushed you towards Remus who gave him a look.
~~
The boys followed you through the castle. They looked at each other when they reached the girls’ lavatory. They knew about this one. No one ever went in because of that one ghost Moaning Myrtle. You stood at the sinks, bouncing on the balls of your feet.
“Sunny? This is a bathroom.”
James had taken to calling you Sunny. They all really ran with the sun theme but picked different names. Peter liked Sunray which was close to Sirius’ Sunspot. But Remus’ Sunshine might have been your favorite. You just turned around and ignored the boys as you faced the sinks. A chill ran down the Marauders’ spines as you started whispering in a language they never heard you speak before. You turned back to face them as the sinks began to separate.
“Sunshine?”
“Welcome to the Chamber of Secrets.”
The four of them looked at each other with wicked smiles before following you in. You held up an arm and if it wasn’t for the giant shed snake skin, Sirius would have laughed at the smallest in their group attempting to protect the rest of them.
“You aren’t allowed to look at them until I say it’s okay. You will not kill them.”
“Yes, Mistress.”
Peter jumped at the large body of a snake slither past. You ushered them forward. The boys watched your hand trail over the snake and they couldn’t decide if it was cool or if they were mortified. Remus went to grab you when you suddenly bent down and looked the creature in the eye. He paused in his tracks when they noticed you were fine.
“Doesn’t a basilisk’s stare kill you instantly?” James whispered.
Remus nodded. Sirius pulled at his jumper.
“What if she did hurt people? Sunspot could’ve killed this entire school if she had wanted to…”
They all just stared as his words sunk in. It was mad how you were giggling at the literal monster in front of you. You stuck out a hand and they watched a clear, thick substance drip into your palm. You came skipping back over.
“We can leave if you want, I just wanted to show you.”
“There’s more to this place?”
You nodded. “But you need protection, the basilisk is going to roam. I said not to kill you but if you accidentally catch her eye, I can’t help that and neither can she.”
They nodded with confused faces. You went to James and dipped your thumb in the clear substance, rubbing it under his eyes and on the bottom of his glasses. Peter and Sirius shuddered under the feel of the substance— it was cooler than they expected. Remus looked down at you.
“Sunshine?”
“Yes?”
“What is this?”
“Venom… we can’t come here after your moon nights. If it seeps into a cut, that could be deadly.”
Sirius cringed. “Did you just wipe snake spit on us?”
“Venom, Siri. It’s for your own good, basilisks can’t kill each other just by looking one another in the eye. We have tears that keep our eyes wet, they have their venom. It repels the other killing power. And now you have it.”
“Okay, you’re free to roam. No leaving the Chamber.”
The snake slithered off to wherever. You went back to looking at the boys.
“She’s in hibernation usually but any time the Chamber opens, just wakes her right up. I used to hide here a lot but she started going on about killing muggleborns in third year and I thought it was better to not wake her up so much.”
“What the fuck?” Peter voiced what they were all thinking.
“Are we supposed to ignore the speaking parseltongue and looking a murder snake that shouldn’t still be alive if it’s from the founding of our school in the eye and not dying?” James asked.
You rolled your eyes. “How did four idiots create such an intricate map? A basilisk’s master, if it has one, is automatically immune. It’s a process in connecting bloodlines or something. Hi, (Y/N) Riddle, heir of Slytherin, nice to meet you.”
“Hei— he— you’re one of Slytherin’s descendants?”
You nodded and moved to wash your hand off in the water. You started leading them around the place. The boys thought the Chamber was wicked. A bit disgusting in some of the off paths that were mildewy but overall wicked. Without the dangers of the basilisk killing students because it was summer, the five of you went down there often. The boys even stopped jumping whenever the snake passed by.
~~
The last month of summer was spent at Potter Manor. Remus and Peter went home to their parents for a week but were coming back for the last few weeks before everyone headed back to Hogwarts. Mr. and Mrs. Potter said alright when the five of you insisted that you weren’t dating. They didn’t really believe it when they found you asleep on the couch in a James and Sirius sandwich. You three had spent all of midmorning playing quidditch that you were exhausted. The Potters were positive that at least one of you was going to wake up with a crick in your neck or a limb that had fallen asleep. But you looked so comfortable.
Peter was the first to show up after visiting his parents. Instead of waking you up nicely, he just dropped his stuff and took a nap as he added his limbs to the tangle. Remus came a little later. He tutted as he shook his head before running full speed at the couch and jumping onto all of you. You four awoke with shouts and protests— James shoved Remus to the floor.
James took you all to the stores around the area for the weekend instead of staying at the house the whole time. At some point, you briefly stopped to pet a puppy and when you looked up the boys were far ahead. They stopped when they heard your mumble of complaints that they took too big steps.
“It’s just how we walk, Sunray. Big people, big strides.” Peter shrugged.
“Then get shorter,” you complained to all of them. “Especially Moony.”
Remus just laughed as the four boys slowed down their stride a bit. You caught up, grabbing Remus’ arm to throw over your shoulder. He smiled down at you. You and Remus were ditched in the bookstore with only a call to meet at the pub. You both were in your element. You had taken to getting books for each other to try lately. Either you would read a book and then swap or you would just buy new ones for each other.
Remus kept looking over when he thought you weren’t paying attention. He watched you reach up and struggle to grab a book on the top shelf. You sighed, frustrated that you couldn’t get your wand out in the muggle store to get the thing down. He came up behind you to grab the book. One hand rested on your waist so he wouldn’t topple over and the other grabbed the book with no problem. You turned and Remus could hold his breath at the proximity. You seemed even more kissable today as you smiled at him.
“Okay, maybe don’t get shorter.” You took the book from him.
~~
You looked up from your reading to see your boys in front of you. They had been in the kitchen while you were under a tree outside. You had finished your first book and started reading the one that Remus picked out for you. The boys shoved the map over your book. You tilted your head.
“Hello?”
“Hi, do the thing and read it,” Sirius said as he pointed to the blank map.
You pulled out your wand. “I solemnly swear that I am up to no good.”
You watched the same fancy ink scroll across the parchment.
“Messrs Moony, Wormatil, Padfoot, and Prongs, along with Miss Sun—”
“Sunshine are proud to present the Marauder’s Map,” Sirius finished.
Peter opened it up and lifted a new flap. “Chamber of Secrets was brilliant. It’s actually plottable, Salazar didn’t put any enchantment on it like the Room of Requirement. We’re wondering if there’s more stuff like this. Only to find out is when we get back to school.”
“Guys,” you whispered, trying not to cry.
“You’re one of us,” James stated. “Fifth Marauder.”
“Arguably the best.”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “Alright, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.”
“No, I meant it. I’m the best one.”
~~
You were sitting with your back against Remus’ chest as he leaned against the headboard. Everyone was just inside. It was a rainy summer day so you all were in the attic. It was time to go back to school in only a couple of days. Remus used your head as a little reading stand for his book while you played with the fingers of his hand wrapped around your middle. Everyone was relatively quiet as if the rain put a mild silencing spell on you. James had been throwing and catching a snitch for at least half an hour now with his head in Sirius’ lap as the other boy read through his fat stack of comics. Peter was eating something sticky and trying to decide if he wanted to read or take a nap. Remus turned the page.
“He doesn’t even give her a kiss?” He asked.
You chuckled. “He’s too scared to.”
“But now she thinks he doesn’t like her. He’s openly inviting another man to steal her away without kissing her. Not even on the cheek.”
“Moons, don’t tell me you like the first man better?”
“He’s more gentle with her.”
“But he’s only really doing anything out of obligation. It’s in like two or three chapters, you’ll see it when they share a proper kiss.”
Remus set down his book and turned you in his arms. “You’ve never been properly kissed.”
You snorted. “Remmy, all four of y—”
“It was all rough and to be in control when we were your doms. You’ve never been properly kissed, not the way you should be.”
One hand gently pressed on your back while the other cupped your face. Remus was centimeters from your lips. Peter pretended to need to go brush his teeth. James and Sirius suddenly became very invested in the muggle comic that Sirius had brought. Even though they were seemingly distracted, the room was dead quiet as they listened in on Remus’ little speech.
“Everything about you is so overwhelming in a good way. I always want you around and I’m always thinking about you. Don’t know when I stopped being able to see you as a friend but I fancy you, (Y/N). I don’t deserve you after everything that’s happened, Merlin, I don’t deserve you but I want to be with you. I want you to call me yours… I don’t just fancy you. I love you. We already know the best and worst parts of each other so I can say that and not be lying. I love you. Can I kiss you, Sunshine?”
You nodded. Remus pressed his lips to yours. It was softer than you had ever been kissed. You thought you knew what Remus’ lips were like but this was different. It was sweet and loving. You could taste the chocolate he had just finished eating. Remus’ hand that was on your face slowly dropped down to wrap around you as the two of you pulled apart. You buried your head in the crook of his neck.
“Will you kiss me like that again, some time?”
Remus chuckled. “Of course I will. I’ll give you all the sweet kisses in the world.”
“Remmy… I love you, too.”
“And you were worried she’d say no,” Sirius said from behind the comic.
You lifted your head as Remus told his friend to shut up. He wrapped his arms around you a little tighter.
“After all we did, I just thought you wouldn’t want me.”
“I wouldn’t even be friends with you four if I didn’t forgive you.”
~~
The last time you took the Hogwarts Express was when you were eleven. It felt different with friends instead of bodyguards. James by some miracle had gotten Head Boy which was shocking because Remus was the only prefect out of the Marauders last year. You all changed into robes and waited for the train to pull in. Your bright yellow looked so out of place but also so right amongst the red around it. Your feet were in James’ lap while your head was in Remus’. Every now and then, your boyfriend would bend down to peck your lips.
Nothing really changed between the five of you as you and Remus became closer. The only difference was you kissed him a lot and when it came to sleeping, you were in his bed. But naps might find you curled up against one of the other Marauders and you were always hugging on the others. They knew what boundaries were there and not to cross. Remus trusted you and his friends wholeheartedly.
The boys felt weird eating anything that Voldemort sent. You told them that it never changed, that weird feeling. But all five of you sat in the train compartment and ate the snacks sent. They were amazed at your ability to compartmentalize your father.
~~
“Evans, go out with me.”
You all rolled your eyes as you sat under a tree. It was a nice day so the five of you were outside. The boys had finished the map, finally. There weren’t many more secret rooms after the Chamber but you enjoyed the map nonetheless.
“Alright, James.”
You all did a double take.
“Really?”
“It’s our last year, why not?”
You pushed James to stand up and walk her to her next class. Both you and Sirius caught each other’s eyes and huffed out a laugh. Lily turning down James had become the running joke and she just killed it. But at least your friend got a date. The real question was if he could score a second one.
~~
It was a no-brainer that the Marauders would join the Order after graduating. A bunch of you did. Your father had grown considerably stronger and returned to the UK with his following. You were all gathered around a table. Plans to stop Voldemort needed to be concrete. This wasn’t a game of little battles anymore. There were only big battles and trying to end a war. Marlene set her quill down.
“Why aren’t we using (Y/N)?”
Everyone looked at her, including you.
“Your father doesn’t know you’re with us, does he?”
“No, he thinks I’m overseas.”
“And the posse? I guess, they’re actual Death Eaters now.”
“I haven’t ran into a single one.”
Marlene nodded. “Then we should use (Y/N) as a spy. We’d know it all. It might actually let us stop him before everyone around us dies.”
The Order looked at you. You shrugged.
“I’ll try, but he’s never talked to me much about plans. His whole point was to keep me out of war.”
“But you can freely roam around?”
“Of course I can, he sent me a letter yesterday asking if I was doing well. Now that Hogwarts is done, he wants me away and safe until the war ends.”
Moody clapped. “This is brilliant.”
And that’s how you became arguably the most valuable member of the Order of the Phoenix. They made a point to act like they didn’t know you in public. You never went back home right after visiting your father. You went in public with Bellatrix and Regulus until all Death Eaters started becoming more secretive. Nagini followed you like a puppy when your father wasn’t around. He shared intimate details of his plans now that you were no longer a child. He still didn’t want you in the war. He made a point that you were told about missions— that you would then report to the Order if you could— but never allowed to go on them.
Voldemort didn’t want a hair out of place on his heir’s head. He had dropped his marriage list. After the war started becoming serious, you both agreed it was best to wait and see who was still alive after everything was done.
Order missions were organized according to information you gave and which members weren’t in hiding. Groups were arranged to track down people that Voldemort looked for or his forsaken horcruxs that your father told you about and recommended you one day create to protect yourself. He never suspected you once. He didn’t even suspect a spy amongst them. Voldemort was simply angered that he had to stay away for so long because it gave wizards beneath him a chance to improve their magical abilities. He simply complained that he gave them precious time to be great but they would never be as great as him.
~~
You were in between Remus’ legs as you both relaxed on your couch. It had been three months since you last saw him. James and Lily had announced they had to step back from active Order missions because she was pregnant. That made you more active than ever as a spy. But you finally got time with your boyfriend. Remus rested his chin on your head.
“If I asked you to marry me, would you say yes?”
You looked at him.
“Is this you proposing?”
“If I asked you to marry me, would you say yes?”
“Yeah, Remmy, I would.”
He leaned over and searched the endtable drawer for the box. It wasn’t the most expensive ring. Sirius wanted to help but Remus refused considering the two of you were already staying with him after his uncle gave him a large chunk of inheritance since Walburga refused to.
“This war is getting crazier and I want something normal with you. I don’t want to wait either. In case we don’t make it, I want to be able to call you my wife at least once. Will you marry me?”
“We’re not having kids now, we’ve barely reached twenty.”
Remus laughed and nodded as he slipped the ring on your finger. “I promise to be better than Prongs about contraception.”
“Always thought Padfoot would accidentally do it first.”
“I heard that!” Sirius yelled from downstairs.
~~
It was the last time that any remaining Order members were going to see the Potters for a while. Dumbledore only told a few of you about the prophecy but everyone knew that they were going into hiding. Lily was due any moment, now. Only a few of you would ever know where that hiding place was. It was goodbye and a baby shower all at once. It was also the reception of your wedding that only the Marauders, Mr. Lupin, Marlene, Dorcas, and Lily attended. You and Remus wanted it small.
The wedding was just so you could call each other husband and wife at least once because dying seemed like a real possibility every single day. You only went to the courthouse, registered at the Ministry, and ate cake. When the war was over, you’d have a big wedding. You couldn’t afford more people either when you were supposed to be still spying for your father. You always wore your ring on the wrong finger, making it a little loose, so he couldn’t even question if it was an engagement ring.
Sirius choked on his drink when Lily and James asked him about being Harry’s godfather.
“I don’t do children, Prongs, we’ve talked about this. Fun Uncle Sirius, that was my only job description. This sounds like responsibility.”
Lily looked at James with an ‘I told you so’ written all over her face. She laughed a bit as she held her stomach.
“I wanted (Y/N) anyway as a responsible godmother which meant naturally Remus was godfather.”
Sirius nodded his head along with Peter and Marlene. “That sounds much better.”
~~
You held the baby. James and Lily needed sleep so you and Remus came over. Godric’s Hollow was nice. The two of you thought that it would be nice to move there but it was expensive. Remus had to work jobs beneath him because he was a werewolf and they didn’t exactly pay. You had to be a spy so you couldn’t exactly get a job. Your father didn’t even know where you actually lived, believing the lie you told about performing the Imperius Curse on some muggles to let you stay in their house. He told you he was proud of you for that.
Remus watched you rock Harry in your arms. His soft smile frowned a bit. You really liked the baby. It was a conversation you two had had after Frank and Alice, Molly and Arthur, and James and Lily got pregnant. You said you didn’t want them right now especially during a war and when you had to see your father but you wanted them.
Remus was afraid of passing on the werewolf part of him and told you he couldn’t do it. He expected a screaming match, he secretly hoped for one because it would make him feel less bad than if you just accepted it. But you did just that. He watched as you tried to smile and just said okay, family could always just be the two of you and maybe you could adopt. He could see now how much you enjoyed little Harry. He constantly wondered how you were with him when he seemed to not be able to give you the world.
~~
You started to pace. Your father should have been back by now or someone from the Order should have contacted you by now. But neither had happened. It was a risk to go but you would lie to your father. You could tell him that you wanted to help him track down the Potters— then you could really make sure he never found out. Of course, you knew where James and Lily now lived. All the Marauders did. The only difference was you told James to make Peter the Secret Keeper.
You were worried that some of the Death Eaters might think that you were affiliated with the Marauders past school, that you still speak to them. If that was true then potentially even your father might turn on you. James didn’t hesitate to agree with you. You both thought not to tell anyone else, not after finding out there was a spy in the Order. You didn’t trust most of the others. You guys didn’t know them as well as you knew each other. Peter always had a knack for evading everyone— he had gotten the least detentions out of the four boys in all your years at Hogwarts. He could navigate the muggle world so well that if he needed to hide he could. And who could ever find a rat? For so many reasons, Peter was a better choice than you and less obvious than Sirius, less busy than Remus.
Your feet gave out from under you as you apparated into Godric’s Hollow. The house that you saw just days ago was destroyed. Part of the roof was blocking the door from where it caved in, signs of wand blasts were evident. You ran in, screaming for someone to respond. James lay dead at the foot of the stairs. You backed up when you saw him. If it wasn’t for the sudden crying coming from upstairs, you would’ve left the house. Holding down bile, you stepped over James’ body and took the stairs two at a time. Poor Harry was a mess of tears and when you looked down at what he was staring at, you saw Lily. You raced to scoop up Harry, rocking him to try and provide some comfort.
“It’s okay, Harry, you’re alright. You’re okay, darling.”
You looked in confusion at the wand by Lily. You had seen it enough times to know what your father’s wand looked like. But he left Harry? His whole prophecy was about Harry but he left the baby. You pulled the baby away from your shoulder— there was a scar. He had a new scar on his forehead, looking just like a bolt of lightning. So this was your father’s doing. Something stopped him but you weren’t sure what. You cooed at Harry, transferring him to one arm as you quickly packed a baby bag.
The others were going to be devastated when you told them. You and Remus always joked with the Potters about having joint custody over Harry, or just kidnapping him one day. You didn’t think that you would ever become his guardian. Sirius was going to lose his mind and Peter— you clutched Harry a little tighter as you began to walk to the nearest public Floo Network. No one could tell where the Potters were but him. No one knew but the Marauders about the location and the rest of you couldn’t reveal its location, only go to it. There was a small possibility that Remus or Sirius could have taken Voldemort or a Death Eater to the Potter house but you knew your friend and husband. Plus, they hadn’t left the house the entire day before your father summoned you.
You ran out the public Floo Network and towards your house. Somewhere along the way, Harry had fallen asleep. Probably before you even got to the nearest Floo by Godric’s Hollow. Sirius and Remus stood up immediately when you came into the dining room where they were waiting until you came home. You shoved the baby bag into Sirius’ arms and the bundle that was Harry into Remus’ arms. They watched your face harden as you pulled out your wand.
“I’ll be back when I get back. Unfinished business.”
That was the last word you spoke to them that night before starting your hunt for Peter. He wouldn’t be far from the crime scene. You knew him. Even as a traitor, he was predictable.
“Pettigrew!” Your voice echoed into the night sky. “Come out here and die like a real man!”
You saw the blur of a man go past and started to run. You needed him to run to the main road, not wanting to let a loose spell into someone’s house. You dodged a spell that he threw behind him. Teeth gritting, you chased him into the main road.
“Stupefy, Avada Kedavra… I’m gonna kill you, Pettigrew!”
Peter stopped and faced you. At least he had enough nerve to duel properly, not that you would go easy. For once, you were going to allow yourself to slip into darkness. Every Dark Art that you learned since four, you’d use it. He was going to suffer for what he did. Peter adjusted the grip on his wand.
“She killed them! She betrayed the Potters!” Peter began to yell.
The spells, running, and shouting had attracted some people to leave their homes and see what was going on. Your eyes widened. A dry laugh rang out. Was he really doing this? You lifted your wand to cast a spell when you were blown back. You coughed as you got up. Looking around, you couldn’t find him. Your eyes focused on the street in front of you that was stained with a lot of red. Your mouth dropped open. He killed people. He killed people to escape. And then you looked closer. There wasn’t a wand in sight, the Potters lived in a place with lots of muggles.
You raced to each of the bodies, trying to see if at least one was breathing. Twelve were completely still. Shaking, you tried to help the injured muggles but couldn’t seem to do much from shock. Your head whipped around as you saw a bright light from the corner of your eyes. Fudge, Barty Crouch Sr., and some Aurors from the Department of Magical Law Enforcement were there. You pointed behind you and babbled out something about people hurt. The Aurors immediately stormed past you to the scene to try and help. You dropped to the street, a mix between laughing and crying escaped your throat. It was your fault. Your fault for trusting a damn traitor. When did Peter even turn against you all? Fudge and Barty looked down at you and then up when an Auror stood right behind you.
“They say there was an explosion. Another man was here. Three muggles said they heard her yell Pettigrew and something else before the blast. Says he said she killed the Potters.”
Your wand was suddenly snatched, making you snap to attention. They checked it as another Auror came up, holding something in her hand.
“Last spell was the killing curse.”
“This is Pettigrew’s finger, all we could find.”
You went to stand up to explain when someone cast a body-binding curse. Your mind immediately went to sixth year when they carried you to the lake. You felt like you couldn’t breathe. It was impossible to even thrash around. All you could see was that wet pier and the lake.
“Remus!” You called out for the first person to always come defend you. “No, Remus! Remus, please! Let me see him, he’ll tell you. I didn’t kill them! I didn’t!”
They casted a silencing charm. Tears streamed harder as the people around you decided that you were guilty. They ignored your pleas of no. They were creating evidence and you couldn’t seem to convince them otherwise. You heard them say Azkaban.
“There’s twelve counts of murder of muggles, Pettigrew is dead. We can see the killing curse,” Barty told Fudge. “Her maiden name is Riddle. How do we know she wasn’t playing us as a spy the entire time? We don’t need a trial, she needs Azkaban while we still have her in our clutches.”
Shaking your head, a bunch of Aurors surrounded you. Each grabbed a part of your arm and you tried to thrash harder when you felt your ring slip from your finger. You felt the familiar pull and tug of apparating. The place felt void of all happiness. Your clothes were stripped from you and you were given a plain prison gown. The Aurors gave a welcome to Azkaban speech as they took your mugshot, which was echoed in your head by the Dementor’s gravelly inhuman voice.
“Welcome to Azkaban. There is only one rule. Ask. You ask to eat breakfast, ask to go to the bathroom, ask to eat dinner. You want to leave your cell for a shower, ask. You even ask to go to sleep. You don’t get to move unless we say so. We control everything. Ask and no dementors. That’s our deal. You ask and you might not get dementors. So ask for everything, you don’t move until we say yes or no. Do you understand?”
You just blinked, not sure how everything was moving so fast. You shook your head and started to say you were being framed when a cold hand grabbed your throat. You felt freezing as a dementor stared down at you. Scared turned to sadness as the dementor sucked out the feelings from you and Remus’ wedding reception. You were dropped back to the floor.
“Let’s try again. Do you understand?”
“Yes,” you whispered.
The Aurors nodded and left. The dementor’s cold hand returned as you were guided past shared cells and taken to solitary all the way to the corner of the prison. Azkaban was cold. There wasn’t a single blanket or a bed. Everything was just cold— colder than the Black Lake had ever been.
The Order was called to the Ministry headquarters the next day after the scene at Godric’s Hollow had been cleaned and the muggles had been taken care of. Remus had to hand Harry to Hagrid because he and Sirius were too busy pacing the length of the room. He wouldn’t sit down until Barty brought out your wand and Peter’s finger. Both men plopped into their chairs. Remus fiddled with his ring. This wasn’t you. It had to be because of what they showed him. It had to be because of whatever the Ministry’s jury decided yesterday after the scene. But it couldn’t have been you, not the ray of light that he knew you to be.
“You do understand,” Fudge said. “That we can’t allow you to take care of Harry, Mr. Lupin.”
“What?”
“You are effectively attached to (Y/N). It would be recklessly irresponsible. We’re sorry. We understand that you are more than likely innocent, we’ve reviewed everything but it is still irresponsible.”
“Where will he go? Harry is my godson!”
Dumbledore put a hand on his shoulder. “Lily has family. The boy will be taken care of, it is probably best.”
“How?”
“He might be normal. Not a soul in the world won’t know his name, let him have a chance at life… may the Order have a moment, Cornelius?”
Fudge and non-Order members left the room. Dumbledore silenced the room.
“We can assume that if Riddle gave her father the Potter’s origins, she only told us what he wanted us to know. The horcruxs, there are probably more. He will probably return. Harry will at least be safe away from the wizarding world where no one knows him.”
Remus and Sirius reluctantly let Hagrid take Harry away. Their house was silent when they got back. You weren’t there. You were in Azkaban after killing their best friends.
“She had dropped off the baby,” Sirius muttered. “It doesn’t make sense?”
“She always liked Harry, maybe she bargained for his life?”
“She killed Peter… and twelve muggles.” Sirius sat on the couch.
“No. That’s not her.”
“Ministry says it is, evidence says so, too. She probably said something at trial. I don’t want to think about it anymore… goodnight, Moony.”
Sirius pulled himself off of the couch with little life to him and went to his room.
~~
Harry recognized the letters on the trunk of the sleeping figure. But what was his Uncle Remus doing at Hogwarts? He never said in any letters that he would be coming. He and Uncle Sirius never mentioned much actually about the wizarding world before he started coming to Hogwarts. They just asked how he was and apologized for not being able to take care of him but trusted the Dursleys were doing a good job. For the longest, Harry thought that they weren’t living in the UK. He finally got the truth about wizards when Hagrid showed up to take him to Hogwarts.
~~
Lupin gave his godson a smirk as he took the map from Snape. Just like James. Harry followed him to his office, knowing that he wasn’t getting in any trouble. Remus gave him back the map and went to pull a piece of chocolate from his desk.
“Uncle Remus?”
“Yes, Harry?”
“I saw a name on the map but there was no one there. Even when it said I was standing right in front of them. I thought the map doesn’t lie.”
“It doesn’t.”
“But then why couldn’t I see the person? It showed Peter Pettigrew but I just ran into Professor Snape.”
Remus halted. “Who?”
“Peter Pettigrew?”
“Harry, give me the map. Go to bed before someone else bust you for being past curfew.”
Harry nodded and left without another word, eating on his piece of chocolate. Remus opened the entire map until his eyes found the two words he was looking for. Peter Pettigrew. The name of a dead man. The name of a man that his wife was responsible for killing yet seemed to be very much alive.

i've had no love like your love
Sirius Black x reader x Remus Lupin
Sirius is your boyfriend, Remus is his best friend. You guys invite him into your bed one night. It's just a good old fashioned spit-roasting sesh tbh (w a little more feelings involved).
wc: 4.4k
warning/contains: NSFW smut: threesome, Remus is shy - what else do you expect from me mwahahaha, Sirius is bossy, oral male and female receiving, spit-roasting, unprotected sex, a tad bit of angst (maybe more? guess it depends on how much you read lol)

Sirius has always been adventurous. And when he met you, someone who was equally as unabashed and as brazen as he, he finally felt like he was whole. He wasn’t embarrassed to spring the question on you - mostly because it wasn’t like it was being sprung per say - the two of you have talked about different things you’d like to try in bed, and adding another person just happened to be an option.
It took some back and forth on who would be the lucky plus one, the possibility of it being a stranger was quickly cut out of the equation - while an anonymous person would be a great way to not worry about feelings and all the other insecurities that come with this situation, it’s just that, neither you nor Sirius were particularly worried about the other catching feelings. You were both secure in your relationship, that’s why you both were ready for this step.
Some close friends started being brought up in your conversations - Sirius was adamant that the plus one be another man - and you had a very lengthy conversation about the possibility of inviting James into your bedroom. The reason it had ultimately ended up being a no-go on James was because he’s too loud; too similar to the two of you that Sirius worried there would be a power-dynamic he couldn’t control. So alas, the Potter boy was rejected, and the late night conversations started over again.
Remus was first brought up by Sirius. He’s shy, much more malleable and submissive than James, Sirius pointed out. You agreed; Remus seemed the type to follow orders in the bedroom rather than the other way around. He was someone you’ve both known since you were kids and he’s always been the same - a sweet, perfect, people pleaser.
When Sirius first brought it up to him he was taken aback - A-Are you serious?
Of course I’m Sirius, the raven-haired man smirked.
Once Sirius explained the logistics, that the two of you were looking for one night of something different, that you wanted it to be someone you trusted, that you wanted it to be Remus, the taller man finally agreed.
He’d be lying if he said it didn’t interest him - he’s been close to the two of you for ages - and obviously you’re both very attractive. And as quiet and shy as Remus is, he’s also adventurous in his own ways. It also warmed his heart that the two of you decided that out of all of your friends it should be him to share a bed with you.
But now, as he made his way to your door, as he lifted his gloved hand to knock against the old wood, his heart skips a beat. He remembers Sirius mentioning safewords - a stoplight system where if he wasn’t enjoying himself all he had to do was say the word red and it was over. You both valued your friendship with the lycanthrope too much to be lost over something like this. It’s supposed to be fun, Sirius told him. Don’t think of it as a chore.
So as Remus waits for Sirius to answer the door he’s not worried anymore. He breathes in through his nose and out through his mouth, watching as the cloud of his breath is carried away with the raging wind. The ground is illuminated by the streetlamps, a yellow wash of color over the snow-covered earth and Remus looks up to the sky to see if he can find the stars. He’s met by blackness; met by the clouds responsible for the blanket of snow covering the sidewalk, for the built up pile at the tip of his shoe. He kicks it off, looking back up to the sky to see the moon peeking through the gaps as the clouds make their way south. Half moon, Remus’ subconscious tells him. He breathes in deeper.
He’s brought out of his daze when Sirius answers the door, the warmth from his fireplace enveloping Remus as he steps inside. He can tell you’ve been cooking, can smell the cinnamon from some type of sweets you’ve been making. He nods to Sirius as he passes him, looking around the living room. It’s cleaned, you’re nowhere to be seen and Remus turns back to his friend.
“Alright?” Sirius asks as he turns the lock. He’s forgone a shirt, black tattoos creating a stark contrast compared to his pale skin. Long, black hair flows messily over his shoulders. He’s wearing jeans, the first button undone and Remus flinches when he hears Sirius’ chuckle.
“C’mon.” Sirius waves him in the direction of your bedroom, taking the lead while Remus shrugs off his jacket. The smell of cinnamon gets stronger as Remus nears the farthest door down the hall and when he steps inside he realizes it’s from candles. Many candles, set in various places around the room.
Cinnamon is Remus’ spice of choice.
“Sorry about all of the candles,” Sirius apologizes, “you know how she is.”
Remus laughs at that, shakes his head as he toes off his boots, sets his jacket, scarf, and gloves down on the desk.
“Heyyyy.” You come out of the connecting bathroom, pout set on your lips as you approach your boyfriend. His hands are up in surrender, looking back at Remus as if to say See?
“Sorry baby,” your boyfriend tells you, grabbing your waist and leaning down to give you a kiss on your pout.
And a kiss it is. Remus nearly forgot why he was there, caught up in conversation with the two of you like normal. He almost didn’t notice what you were wearing until Sirius’ hands traveled to your ass, grabbing the flesh and squeezing as he devoured your mouth. Your legs are bare, ass only being covered by the hem of a large t-shirt - covered until Sirius’ hands found it, that is. He sees your underwear as Sirius plays with you, as he sticks his tongue into your open mouth and gropes either side of your ass, pulling apart and spreading the globes as he kneads the flesh. You squeal against your boyfriend's lips, hands in his unkempt hair, and you moan against his mouth as he gives a quick slap to your bottom.
Sirius breaks the kiss, leans his head back to look at his friend across the room. Remus’ eyes are wide, his throat is dry and he’s glued to the spot. Sirius turns you around so you’re facing the brunette, slides his hands to your waist as he presses a kiss against your jugular.
Remus can’t take his eyes off of you, focused on the way your eyes flutter shut as your boyfriend takes the skin of your neck between his teeth, and the gasp you let out when he does it, the way your brows furrow and the way your mouth drops open makes Remus shift on his feet, growing erection beginning to strain against his pants.
He’s too focused on you that he doesn’t realize Sirius is looking at him until he speaks. “Come give her a kiss.”
Remus gulps, feet desperate to move but his mind is hesitating. His eyes shift to you to see that you’re looking back at him with wide eyes, chest rising and falling quickly. He moves slowly, floorboards underneath his large feet creaking with each step. It brings him out of his thoughts, pushes him into the moment.
“C’mon, baby,” Sirius encourages, speaking to you now, placing one more kiss on the side of your neck. “Give him a little kiss.”
You smile and walk forward to the taller boy until you’re toe-to-toe. Your hand lifts to brush against his jaw and you see his Adam's apple bob as he gulps.
“You nervous, Moony?” Sirius taunts from behind you and you roll your eyes as your other hand settles on the anxious boy’s face. You pull it down to meet your gaze as you tell him, “Don’t listen to him, Remus.”
Remus’ eyes don’t leave yours as he nods, Sirius scoffing behind you before he makes his way to your bed. He sits at the head of it, back propped against the headboard with his legs spread. He sighs loudly before he quips, “I said to give him a kiss.”
“I heard you,” you say without looking at him. You know he likes to be a little mean in these situations but you’re scared it’ll frighten Remus if he’s too intense. So you lean on the tips of your toes to press your lips against a frigid Remus’, hands still caressing the rough feel of his jaw where stubble is beginning to grow. It makes you shiver, and you hear Sirius hum from across the room.
He adjusts his pants - he didn’t think seeing you kiss his friend would make him hard this fast. He had sneaking suspicions that he’d be into voyeurism, but he never quite grasped how he would be able to scratch that itch. It’s a perversion he hasn’t been able to understand before, but now - as your lips dance with his best friend’s - he thinks he gets it.
He watches as your tongue slips into the brunette's mouth, watches as Remus’ hands grab your waist and squeezes the flesh. He wonders if it hurts because he can see Remus’ knuckles turning white.
“Take her shirt off,” Sirius instructs with a gruff voice, the low hum sending chills down your spine. You break off from Remus’ mouth to turn your head to the man on the bed, mouth dropping at the intensity at which he watches the two of you.
With hesitant hands Remus pulls at the hem of your shirt, tugging it over your head and dropping it to the floor. It leaves you in only your panties and his eyes zone in on your breasts; pretty mounds of flesh and Remus almost feels embarrassed that he’s staring.
“Touch her tits,” Sirius orders, hands twitching with the need to reach into his pants.
Remus absentmindedly nods as his hands encase your breasts, letting them fill his hands. He gives them a firm squeeze and his cock gives a twitch at the breathy sigh that leaves your lips; pretty and airy and he squeezes them to hear it again.
“Yeah, like that,” Sirius praises, head knocking against the headboard.
You grab Remus’ face to bring it back to yours, a needy kiss where you’re whining against his lips because now he’s pressing his thumbs against your nipples, digging into the stiff nubs, scratching his fingernails against them. You tug on Remus’ shirt, waiting until he releases your tits to raise his arms for you to remove it. You kiss him harder when his hands come back to play with your nipples, now pushing his body back until he’s seated on the edge of your bed, close to Sirius so he can see the way you slide to your knees on the hardwood floor.
Remus’ eyes widen when you reach for his zipper and he takes a deep breath as you slide his pants and underwear down his legs. You don’t hesitate to grab his cock, pumping him from base to tip and back down again, watching as the vein on the underside gives a twitch as you swipe your thumb over his slit.
“Oh shit,” Sirius whispers to himself, the sight of his best friend's cock being stroked by his girlfriend making his own length throb. He hears Remus’ shaky sigh, the man’s hands settled firmly into the mattress beside him, hesitant to touch you. Sirius would laugh if he wasn’t so incredibly turned on.
Your mouth comes down to lick at the head, tongue curling around the tip and lowering your mouth to take as much as you can. You hear a loud moan so you look up to Remus but notice his head is turned, and then you realize that the sound came from your boyfriend.
You smirk around Remus’ cock and decide that if Sirius wants a show you’ll give him a show - you’ll indulge his desires and maybe a few of your own. Your head makes its way back down again, you hollow your cheeks, hum around his length before reaching a hand up to stroke under your mouth, twisting in a way that your lips can’t, squeezing harder than you can suction.
Sirius watches as his girlfriend sucks his best friend’s cock and fuck - it’s one of the hottest things he’s ever seen. The way your head bobs up and down on Remus’ length; the way Remus’ head is thrown back and his hands fisting the sheets as if he’s scared to touch you. Sirius is so hard it hurts.
“You like when my girlfriend sucks your cock, Moony?” Sirius rasps, hand starting to palm himself through his jeans. He wanted to wait - but the way drool seeps out of the corner of your mouth; the wet squelching as Remus’ tip hits the back of your throat; the tiny moans that are muffled from your mouth - Sirius has to give himself some relief.
Remus’ face is scrunched up and Sirius wants to laugh - he’s never seen Remus like this before - and he roughly pushes Remus on the back to get his attention. Remus grunts and opens his eyes, turning his head to look at the raven-haired boy. “What?”
And his voice is so hoarse and sexy you have to clench your thighs together, have to rock forward to sedate the ache in your clit. So far, Remus seems to be a quiet lover and you don’t like that, so you work harder against him, suck on his head as you tongue his slit, jerk your hand faster. Remus’ hips jump at the combined sensations, a loud gasp followed by a choked moan when he looks down at you.
“I said,” Sirius licks his lips, watching the way you grind on your heels, “do you like when my girl has your cock down her throat?”
You moan as Remus twitches on your tongue, and moan again when he whimpers. You don’t see it but he nods at Sirius’ question, head dropping back on his shoulders as your tongue twirls around the tip of his cock. His hips twitch and Sirius warns him, “Don’t cum yet.”
You pop off, the back of your hand wiping the drool from your chin. You’ve been sitting so obediently at Remus’ feet and now you’re ready for some attention. You look at Sirius, his eyes are dark and you can see the tent in his pants. He licks his lips once more and tips his chin at you.
“Come up here, baby.” He leans back against the headboard and spreads his legs, patting the empty space between them. You oblige, lifting yourself to your feet and crawling towards your boyfriend to sit your back against his chest.
“She was so good for you, wasn’t she, Moony?” Sirius asks, kissing the space below your ear as his hands run along your sides.
Remus swallows hard before nodding, holding his cock tightly at the base so he doesn’t cum as he watches Sirius peel your panties down your legs. He nearly gasps as he sees your naked cunt - he can see how wet you are - and he watches as your hole flutters as you spread your legs, hooking them over Sirius’.
“I think he should get a taste of this pretty pussy now, don’t you?” This question is directed to you - Sirius’ fingers swipe through your slit as he speaks, picking up the wetness from your weeping hole to drag up to your clit to give slow, firm strokes.
You nod, mhm, and gasp as Sirius continues his movements on your cunt. You can tell Remus hasn’t done this many times before, he’s slow to make his place between your thighs, and his breaths are shaky as they fan out against your core.
“Make her cum, Moony,” Sirius taunts, fingers flicking your nipples as he fondles your tits in his hands, “and maybe I’ll let you fuck her.”
Remus needed no further instructions after that, diving mouth first into your pussy, nose bumping against your clit and his tongue dipping into your hole. Sirius senses your moves and holds your hips down against his, tutting, “Ah ah, sit still, baby.”
You whine as Remus’ tongue finds its way to your clit, flicking the nub clumsily - maybe he hasn’t done this before. Either way, it has your body buzzing, tingles running along your spine and through your limbs. “Fuck.”
“Is he making you feel good?” Sirius rasps, fingers pinching and pulling your sensitive nipples. You can feel his dick against your back through his jeans as he slowly rocks against you. He probably doesn’t even realize he’s doing it, eyes too focused on the way that Remus sucks your clit between his lips, hallowing his cheeks and groaning at the lewd moan you let out, hands returning to your hips to hold you down.
“Yes it’s good.” You cry, hands clawing the fabric of Sirius jeans. “So good,” You breathe.
“You gonna cum?” Sirius asks as you throw your head back onto his shoulder, nodding against his throat.
Sirius slides his hands from your hips to Remus’ head. He pushes him down against your cunt, grabbing Remus’ hair between his fingers hard enough it stings Remus’ scalp. “Don’t fucking stop,” He snaps. He shakes Remus’ head around for good measure. “Make my girl cum.”
The statement has both you and Remus moaning, the vibrations from Remus’ mouth setting off sparks in your core, the orgasm that had been building reaches its peak - piling up and pushing you over as Remus feasts on your cunt like he’s starving.
You don’t know how long it takes you to come down, chest heaving as Remus continues to lap at your pussy, drinking the last of your essence that slips from you. Sirius is whispering against your ear, kissing along your neck as he tells you how good you are.
“Alright, up,” Sirius directs to Remus, pulling on his hair. The brunette sits back on his calves and waits. Sirius grabs your chin with his thumb and forefinger and turns your head to meet his lips. He kisses you hard, tongue licking at your lips until you open your mouth, sucking on your tongue as if to show Remus that you’re his.
Sirius hums against your lips before he leans back to look at you. “He’s been so good, hasn’t he, baby?”
“Yeah, he has.” Your head turns to the brunette to give him a coy grin. Remus gives a shy smile in return, cock bobbing between his legs at the praise.
Sirius sees and smirks, turns his head back to you to say, “Turn around, baby, he’s gonna take you from behind while you suck my cock.”
You provide your assent by turning over, mirroring the position Remus was in seconds ago. You wiggle your hips and giggle at the gasp you hear from behind you.
Your cunt is on full display, high in the air and ready for Remus to take. The taste of you is still fresh on his lips and he wants to dive back in but Sirius clears his throat, raising a brow when their gazes meet. “Well?” He questions. “You gonna stare all day or are you gonna fuck her?”
“Right,” Remus mutters, lifting to his knees to situate behind you. He grabs your hips with one hand and his cock in the other, running it through your slit to collect your slick that’s there - there’s still so much, even after Remus devoured you.
Meanwhile, you work Sirius’ pants off as he removes his shirt, grabbing his cock and pumping, mouthing at the head and letting your spit leak down his shaft.
“Fuck yeah,” Sirius groans, hand helping your head along his cock. His body is buzzing from finally getting attention along his aching length, one hand of yours following under your mouth and the other cupping his balls, massaging them between your fingers as you suck.
Remus can’t look away from how your head moves up and down in Sirius’ lap and the raven haired man snorts, meeting Remus’ gaze once again, erupting goosebumps along his skin. His observance gives Remus the encouragement he needs to cant his hips forward, sliding his cock through your tight ring of muscle. His eyes stay on Sirius’ until his cock is fully sheathed within your cunt, pulsing along with your fluttering walls.
“How’s he feel, baby?” Sirius inquires to you, although his gaze is still locked on Remus.
Remus didn’t notice before but now he hears you moaning, head resting on Sirius’ thigh as your mouth is dropped open and your eyes are squeezed shut.
“He’s so big,” you gasp, pussy giving another contraction around Remus’ shaft. Sirius’ hands pet your head lovingly, corners of his mouth caught up in a slight smile.
“Move,” Sirius orders to the other man, smile gone and stern eyes locked on Remus’. “Don’t cum inside of her,” is the last instruction he gives.
Remus’ reply is in the form of his hips pulling back to bring his cock halfway out of you, keen ears locking in on the sound of your sharp inhale. He feels your walls convulse around his tip, practically begging to swallow his length again. He pulls his bottom lip between his teeth and pushes back in, eyes swooping shut when you cry out.
Remus just seems to know exactly where your sweet spot is, hitting the spongy spot in your walls on every buck of his hips. You’re trying your hardest to give your boyfriend some pleasure but it’s so hard, and he can’t blame you - you’ve never had to suck a cock while being fucked simultaneously before.
And fucked hard, at that. Remus is merciless; has no care for how well you pay attention to your boyfriend's needs as he takes what he wants from you. His hips slam repeatedly into your backside - the sound reverberating around the tiny room along with the wet smack of your lips as you try your hardest to breathe with Sirius’ cock down your throat.
Sirius has mostly given up on your help; has taken to stroking his own cock as he watches the way your ass jiggles whenever Remus thrusts into you. He looks at his friend's face, sees how Remus’ eyes are focused on where he’s pounding in and out of you, and Sirius can see the slick coating Remus’ cock each time he pulls out.
“You like that?” Sirius asks, hand steady on his cock, eyes fixed on Remus. Your head is back to resting against Sirius’ thigh, bumping against his cock every time Remus rams back into you. Your mouth is stuck in a perpetual ‘O’ shape, drool hitting Sirius' skin as your mind becomes void of anything except the growing pressure in your core.
Remus nods his head, wiping his hand across his forehead to flick away the hair sticking to his skin. “Yeah, she’s tight.”
Sirius laughs, “Yeah, she is.” He gives your head three little taps. “A nice, pretty, little pussy.”
You whimper against Sirius’ thigh at the praise, hips fucking back onto Remus’ cock. You want to warn them that you’re close, that the ball of pressure in your core is expanding for the second time tonight, but all you’re able to do is wail, turning your face into Sirius’ thigh to cry against the skin, taking some between your teeth. You don’t feel Sirius pushing against your head as you bite him, his cock giving an undeniable twitch of pleasure.
“She’s cumming. Fuckkk she’s cumming.” Remus breathes in disbelief, hips going even faster against you. You’re trying to milk him and it’s working, hips stuttering back and out of you just in time as he hears Sirius repeat his warning from earlier.
He paints your back white, gasping as the last of his seed is pulled from his body as he tugs his cock harshly. You’ve long since collapsed on the bed before Remus is done cumming, his own body falling back to sit down beside you.
Sirius is still going; almost there. The sight of his friend making his girlfriend scream is enough to get him there - he’s grabbing your head and muttering a “open up f’me, baby.”
He lets you swallow his load, grunting as you lazily bob your head until he pulls you off. You’re all breathing heavy, reduced to nothing but sacks of bones as you lie against each other catching your breath.
You both ask Remus to spend the night but he says no, he knows he has about a week until the full moon so he needs to prepare. Sirius gives him a knowing look at the rejection, kissing you on your head as you pout, telling you to go start the shower, he’ll be there in a moment.
You give Remus one last kiss on the cheek goodbye before you're walking to the bathroom, shutting the door behind you and starting the shower.
“Thanks for this, Moony,” Sirius says as he pulls on his boxers.
Remus has long-since been dressed, wrapping his scarf around his neck as he replies, “No problem.” He waits for Sirius to lead him to the door before he speaks again. “I enjoyed it.”
Sirius laughs, “Yeah, me too. And so did she.” He unlocks the door, turns to look back at the brunette before he opens it.
Remus nods, “Good.”
They stand there for a moment, listening to your voice as you sing in the shower. It’s some song Remus can’t quite make out through the walls but the two of them laugh about it anyway.
Sirius shakes his head as he pulls open the door, cold air punching him in the gut as he’s greeted by the winter weather. “You sure you’re good to walk home in this?”
Remus sighs, “Yeah, it’s not that far.” He walks past the threshold and into the night, turning back to Sirius as he hears him clear his throat.
“Okay, well, thanks again.” He gives Remus a small smile, arms wrapping around himself as he shivers.
“Of course,” Remus smiles back, laughing at Sirius as he curses from the cold. “Goodnight, Pads.”
“Night, Moony.” Sirius closes the door when Remus turns away, still shaking as he makes his way to the warm shower.
Remus tightens his scarf, looks back up to the sky to see the moon hanging there, clouds gone as the snow has ceased for the night. Fuck you, he says to it, stuffing his hands into his coat pockets as he makes his way home.

Honestly Remus was a little embarrassed, walking through the train in search of an empty seat, his face was probably as red as a tomato, hair messy. He felt awful. The teenager slowly ran his hand through his caramel locks to make it at least somewhat presentable to others. This morning was rough. Not only did he sleep in, exactly why his hair is in such distress right now, but he also tripped while running to the train station, so now his favorite black trousers ( a gift from his mom) were ripped just above his knee. Oh well.. that couldn't be too bad, right? He recalls James telling him something about muggles thinking it is "trendy" so maybe no one will pay too much attention to him. But really.. Who is he trying to fool he looks just like Padfoot after a long bath in the muddy puddle during a very very rainy night. As the thoughts ramble around Remus' mind his gaze runs towards an empty compartment at the very end of the car he is currently walking through. He slowly makes his way closer and slides the door open letting out a huge sigh of exhaustion... That's when his eyes fall upon a girl, sitting in the very corner of the compartment, wearing the most comfortable sweater he has ever seen. She is looking out of the window, from where he's standing he can't exactly see her eyes but something tells him they are filled with melancholy. Blurry just like the landscape outside of the window, passing by as the Hogwarts express makes his way through the lands of England.
"Good evening, can I join you?" he whispers softly. Partially because he didn't want to startle her but mostly because he was afraid his voice would sound strange given that he didn’t even have time to say anything today. Unfortunately his plan doesn't really work out as the girl is pulled out of her thoughts with his apparently not soft enough words. "Yh good evening yes please um feel free" the girl stumbles to her feet to collect her things that previously were spread on the other seats as Remus takes the one furthest from the unfamiliar face. " I'm Remus. Are you... a new student ?" He asks while searching through his backpack for a book, purposefully avoiding eye contact. "I know"  she says quickly immediately looking embarrassed "I mean I know who you are I know your friend... Peter. We have a few extracurricular classes together"  Her speech is a bit muffled, not necessarily shy just a bit uncertain. " I'm [Y/N] ".
They fall silent after that. No one says anything, both in their own tiny worlds, struggling to find some common ground without worrying whether the other would mind. The entire train ride passes just like that, only the sounds of their breaths filling the air as the silence surrounds them and the space between them fills with fog from the warmth of their exhales colliding with the cold winter air.

The end of the school year came faster than anyone has anticipated, everyone exhausted, some more than others, now they were making their way to the train station to head home and officially start the summer break. " Come onn Moony hurry up! We need to find an empty compartment before the Slytherin arses take up all the free seats!" Remus wasn't probably the only one who heard Sirius given how loud he is but who is he to argue with his best friend. Instead he speeds up his steps. Yet he stops sooner than he expected ramming into James' back after he rammed into Sirius' back when he opened one of the doors and stopped suddenly, now looking at something... Thanks to his long legs he could easily peek over his friends' heads to see whatever they were looking at. And there he saw her. Now a recognizable face sitting in the same exact position she was in when they first met. Same piercing gaze but the air seemed warmer, so did the atmosphere, no more fog around them. Now he could see her. Clearly. "Hi! Would you mind if-" "It's fine I will go find a seat somewhere else" [Y/N] cuts Sirius off before he can finish, looking right into Remus' eyes while saying every  word as if they were meant only for his ears to hear. And while She was passing by the three boys [Y/N]’s hand brushed against Moony’s, sending thousands of sparks along his spine.
That was the last time Remus has seen [Y/N]. He tried asking Peter about her, but he wasn’t very helpful, only giving him a “Yea I know her” as an answer. The days were passing like always, filled with laughter, pranks, Sirius and James’ otter stupidity. Nothing extraordinary. But every now and then when loneliness showed up, the laughters died down and after came the silence, his thoughts always wandered to that same place. The foggy compartment at the very end of  car number 4, their belongings scattered on the floor and her blurry gaze piercing through the droplets of water hanging in the air. Reaching his eyes every now and then, making everything stop for the longest second of his life. Just for the time to run again after it ends. Quicker than it ever did before...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Remus didn't know what he was feeling, it was all new and strange but he was longing for more. He was getting greedier withe everyday that passed. Frankly he didn't know what was going on but he was certain about one thing. He wanted  her to touch him.. even if her hand always were that cold. He wanted to look at her... even if it was just through a steamed up window.
Everything was as usual. Boys took turns spending time at each other's houses, always bringing joy and laughter along, Time flied the faster the more they hanged out withe each other, never tired nor bored. But there were evenings when the Marauders weren't around, silence filled his parents's backyard, as Remus sat on the swing, hanging from one of the blooming trees. Slowly rocking back and forth. And as the hot air flowed around him filling his nostrils with a pleasant smell of grass and flowers, all he could think of were her freezing hands that sent shivers down his body but those same hands filled his chest with warmth like he never felt before.
