Katakuri x Fem Reader: Your the One I’ve Been Looking For SFW
warning : none
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He didn’t expect to fall in love in this lifetime. He just couldn’t get close to anyone a lot of it had to do with the way he looked, covering up his main insecurity his mouth. You caught him off guard, the sweets commander was known for his fearsome personality the cold stare he would give to people that would make people , run in the opposite direction. Showing him the compassion and love he was really never used to, he would describe it as taking a bite out of a freshly made donut.
Looking down at his wedding his thumb rubbing the bottom of the ring, he let a small smile come out. On the other side of him, placing your hand above his. Catching his attention seeing your hand with the pretty pink diamond that sparkled brightly. As any form of light hit it. Turning his head to see the sweet smile on your face. Dressed in a beautiful gown with small accents of soft pink on the dress. “How does it feeling being a married man?”
Picking up your hand bringing it to close to his lips “I can’t describe how I feel right now because it feels all so surreal in this moment.” Pressing a gentle kiss on your hand. No matter how loud the reception was the music blasting in the background the happy chatting and laughs from the family and friends, it was tuned out when you both talked nothing to interrupt the moments you spent with one another. “You do make me a very lucky man to be alive right now _____.”
“I was thinking the same thing. You have made me feel like the luckiest girl in the world.” You did feel the same way. To get to know Katakuri for who he truly was, was all you could have asked for. He made you feel safe, protected and loved. For years chipping down his guard so you could get to know him. When he knew you were the one he let you see the real him even without the scarf. He at times called himself a monster but he was not close to being a monster. You didn’t see him as a monster you saw something more than he couldn’t see.
Katakuri looking at the party guest, wishing he would take you to the private merienda for some alone time. You were thinking the same thing as you were going to ask him her already respond “I would like that a lot.” Using his observation haki as he seen you were going to ask him. Swiftly stepping away as you seen the crowd observe big mom devouring the wedding cake. “Well we gotta thank big mom for the distraction so we could leave.” You chuckled. Entering the private merienda. Seeing the table set up, Katakuri had this planned out placing all your sweet treats on the table you both enjoys, matching tea set.
“I wanted this to be something special for just us.” Katakuri looked down towards you. In a swift motion Katakuri picked you up in his arms, your eyes meeting with his crimson red ones. “47 years of being on this earth you were worth the wait _______, We will share many more years together as husband and wife.”
“I look forward to it as long as your by my side.” Your fingers placed on his jawline. Both of you leaning forward for a sweet kiss. Both of you knowing the true meaning of being loved was all you both ever asked for.

Kujou Tenn: Birthday 2020 RabbitTV Part 2
TRIGGER: ………….
TRIGGER: Rock, paper, scissors! Gaku: Shit, I lost..!
Tenn: I want an iced cocoa.
Ryuunosuke: Sorry, Gaku..! So then, I’ll go with a cold tea.
G: Even though I was planning to win a drink from Rock, Paper, Scissors today and ask for a soda with a nicely chilled cup…!
T: Gaku’s bad at Rock, Paper, Scissors huh.
R: No, I think Tenn’s just strong.
T: Is that so? Gaku is likely to throw rock the first time so he’s easy to read.
G: Seriously?! I wasn’t aware of that…!
R: Wh-What about me?!
T: Ryuu doesn’t really play scissors.
R: I-I didn’t know that...
G: I’ll win tomorrow...
G: Uuumm… Cocoa and tea huh.
T: Please mix the cocoa well into the milk so it won’t be lumpy.
G: Th-That’s a lot of requests...
R: It’s almost the RabbiTube huh! I wonder if Riku-kun and the others are also waiting in front of the computer.
T: Fufuh, right.
T: … I really didn’t think that Riku would be celebrated by a lot of people on his birthday.
R: He chased Tenn and now he’s standing on the same stage huh.
T: ….He really is.
G: Hey, I got it. What were you talking about?
T: It’s a secret.
G: Huh?
R: We were talking about looking forward to the RabbiTube!
G: That conversation huh…. Hey, Ryuu, do you think Tenn would be successful at both challenges?
R: Hmmm….! I wonder! Tenn doesn’t really get scared huh.
T: Well, that’s true though.
G: You should get scared like how people with your age do, Tenn.
T: That Gaku’s pretty cowardly huh.
R: I’m really curious about what was in the box!
G: There were no living things so far huh.
T: ...That was amazing.
G&R: Eh…?
T: The inside of the box. Amazing.
G: Wh-What is it…. You are trying to scare me aren’t you.
T: Gaku is after me huh. I think it would be good to prepare yourself.
R: A-Are there such bad things in there….?!
R: Hey it’s almost time! Gaku, hey, let’s watch!
G: Because he said something weird, I’ve become nervous...
T: Fufuh.
TRIGGER: ……..
G: You two, can I say something?
T&R: What?
G: The insides of the box are too crazy right…!
T: So that’s what I said right.
G: But, I never get requested to play the conch!!
R: It was a huge conch! Can Gaku play that?
T: I’m looking forward to it.
G: … Seriously, I’ll remember that...
R: But, like Tenn, it was going smoothly! Time flies so fast.
T: I thought I should make more funny moments but… I did it more honestly.
T: Because I thought they wanted to see the natural side of us.
G: Isn’t it fine? You don’t need to act weird.
G: Look, the comments are hyped. They said they could watch it safely.
T: It’s true.
R: The donut silhouette quiz was really calming too!
R: It was really quick at one point…!
T: Even I was confused. I mean, from the beginning to the end of RabbiTube, it’s always been confusing.
R: I-I see… ...What should we do, Gaku? I’ve become nervous too.
G: You idiot. Why are you more nervous than me, who has to play a conch.
R: Right… L-Let’s work hard, Gaku!
G: Yeah! At this point, we have to be determined! Let’s do it, Ryuu!
G&R: Yeah….!
G: Tenn succeeded at both challenges so we can’t fail either.
T: I gave TRIGGER a good head start.
R: Even though it would’ve been funnier to drink that tea!
G: Guys, don’t say that in front of Anesagi. She’ll get mad.
R: Ahahah. That might be true!
T: I’m feeling really good right now thinking that I just have to enjoy you twos’ videos.
R: Oh! Then I think we want to give that Tenn a cake as a present!
T: Eh… When did you?
G: I made it together with Ryuu. Taste it and eat it.
R: Tada! It’s a strawberry cake!
T: Amazing… The top of the cake is filled up with strawberries.
G: It is right. I put them.
T: Just because Gaku wants to eat them right?
G: That too!
R: I’m super happy that we can celebrate the special day when Tenn was born, together as the three of us.
G: We are all in the same boat no matter what. From now on too, let’s face forward together.
G&R: 3, 2, 1...
G&R: Happy birthday!
T: ...Thanks. I love you guys.

Between the Odds
Part One: Happy Birthday
After another six hours of mostly peaceful sleep, Judy got dressed and arrived at the Zootopia Police Department, pretty early as usual. She didn't like being late to anything, nor did she want to cut it close. She always had to be at work at least ten minutes before she was supposed to be there. Surprisingly she was able to get her partner to adjust to that schedule as well. So the second she walked through the main doors, so did Nick.
Judy didn't notice at first, up until she felt someone nudging her from behind. She didn't need to turn around to know it was Nick, since that was usually how he tried to get her attention. It was either that or "sneaking" up behind her. "Sup, slick?" She greeted with a smile, noticing he was holding two cups from a coffee shop.
"Sup." He chuckled, handing her one of the cups. "Here, it's the first of many surprises today."
"But I don't drink coffee." She said, but took the cup from him regardless.
"Exactly why I got you hot chocolate." He winked.
Judy was surprised, but was admittedly glad that he knew what she would've wanted from a coffee place so she wouldn't have to pretend to enjoy the drink for his sake. "Oh, well thank you." She grinned, taking a small sip since the beverage was still warm. "So, first of many surprises, hm? What else do you have in store today?"
"You'll see." Nick said, putting his paw in his pocket. "Just trust me, Carrots. You'll love it."
The two began walking toward the front desk as they continued their conversation. "You seem pretty confident." Judy raised a brow at him, "Let's hope you're right about this."
Nick chuckled at her 'suspicion', since he knew she would be eating her words later. "Of course I'm right. I know you better than anyone. Sometimes more than you know yourself."
"Oh really?" She scoffed, "Okay what's my favorite seafood dish?"
He pointed at her, "Trick question. You don't eat seafood, you're vegan."
"Damn. Okay, I'll give you that one." She said, "But only because everyone knows that."
Nick sneered at her as they walked up to the front desk, to be greeted by Benjamin Clawhauser, their co-worker and close acquaintance. He dawned a bright, sprinkle-filled smile upon seeing them. It had basically became routine for the three of them to have a quick chat before work, and it was one of the best parts of his day. "Hey guys!" He said, finishing off the last of his donut. "Oh Hopps, isn't it your birthday today?"
"Yeah, it is." She nodded, surprised that he brought it up. "Thanks for remembering."
"Oh, I remember everyone's birthday. Although ironically no one remembers mine..." He said, staring off to the side. But he quickly shook the thought away and changed the subject before the conversation could go downhill. "Anyway uh, how old are you turning? If it's okay that I ask."
"25." She answered.
Nick wrapped his arm around her, "Yep, she's gettin' pretty old."
Judy scoffed and rolled her eyes at him. "Big talk from someone in his 30's." She retorted.
"Hush." He rubbed her head playfully, "You're on your way there."
Judy laughed and lightly pushed him away from her. While the two had their moment of banter, Clawhauser observed their playful behavior curiously. This was usually what they did when joking around with each other, but something about it seemed different today, almost flirtatious...
But they were just friends, Clawhauser knew this. They were partners, it would be unprofessional to fraternize in the workplace. And they took their jobs very seriously, especially Judy, so the chances of them actually becoming a couple were unlikely. Besides, she was a bunny and Nick was a fox. It just wouldn't be right.
"Alright, we better get to roll call." Judy said once they calmed down.
"Okay. Oh, wait!" Clawhauser said, briefly stopping them from leaving just yet. He reached over to the donut box on the other side of his desk, picking out a chocolate sprinkled one and handing it down to the rabbit officer. "Here! Happy birthday!"
"Aw, thanks!" She said, taking the donut from him before joining Nick at his side as they walked down the hall. Clawhauser watched them leave with a softer smile, admiring how close the two were. Sometimes he envied their friendship and wished he had a partner. Or at least he wished someone would remember his damn birthday.
The day went by relatively slow, possibly because Judy was eager to know what her birthday surprise was and she grew more impatient as the hours passed. She loved work, but she enjoyed quality time with Nick even more (even though everyday at work was also considered quality time with him).
After their shift was over, it was nearing the evening, but they knew her birthday was just getting started now. They made a quick stop at Judy's apartment to change out of their uniforms and into more casual clothes. Nick had a few spare shirts and pants kept at her place, and vise versa. It was easier for them to have sleepovers and carpool to work now that she moved into a building that was close to Nick's (and it was ten times nicer than her previous junky apartment).
Once they were changed, Nick led her downtown and eventually made her cover her eyes to add to the effect of the "surprise". Judy found it kinda cliche but she obliged nonetheless, letting him guide her to wherever he intended to take her. He held her arm to prevent her from falling or bumping into anything and led her inside somewhere. Judy tried to guess based on the sounds she heard upon entering, which was mostly kids and teens laughing.
"Okay, you can look now." He said, pushing her paws away from her face.
Judy opened her eyes and immediately smiled, spotting several arcade machines such as pinball, Pac-Man, air hockey, motor racing games, etc. And Judy's personal favorite, Dance Dance Revolution. Out of all the places she expected to be taken to, she didn't think it would be an arcade. But she wasn't complaining at all. She was turning 25, so it would be refreshing to spend time doing "childish" activities.
"Wow! Nick, this is awesome!" She smiled up at her friend, clenching her paws excitedly. "How'd you know this is what I wanted?"
"Well, I remember you saying how you used to play at the arcade in Bunnyburrow all the time when you were a kid." He said, "Now I know this is no Bunnyburrow, but I think it's pretty decent."
"It's perfect! And I know exactly what game we're playing first." She grabbed his paw, leading him in a certain direction.
Of course she chose Dance Dance Revolution, but Nick couldn't complain. Even though he wasn't much of a dancer, he enjoyed seeing her so happy and energetic. And when she played, she played to win, so she was really into it and followed every move carefully. Meanwhile Nick somewhat half-assed it, but he knew she would've won regardless since she told him tales of her glorious winnings in the past. Apparently in Bunnyburrow, she was the DDR queen.
They decided to take turns choosing what games to play, but the entire time they mostly played air hockey since that was Judy's second favorite, and Nick could actually beat her at it. But he let her win sometimes since it was her birthday, and his ego was too big to admit that she was actually capable of winning on her own.
After a couple hours, they had played mostly every game in the arcade and won quite a lot of tickets. But Nick didn't really want a prize, so he let her use his to get whatever she wanted, 'cause once again he reminded her it was her special day. Judy had to admit she enjoyed being spoiled by him, but she couldn't explain why exactly. She got a few cute little accessories and a stuffed animal from the prize counter, then decided they could leave so they could move onto Nick's next surprise.
He didn't make her cover her eyes this time, since he wanted her to recognize this place from the outside specially. Thankfully it was just a short walk away from the arcade. Once it was in view, Nick stopped them in their tracks so he could ask her, "Look familiar, Carrots?"
Judy gave him a small look of confusion, taking a glance around the area to try to remember anything specific. But then she saw him give a subtle gesture forward, and once her eyes landed on the ice cream shop ahead of them, she was instantly struck with realization.
"Ohh, it's where we first met." She chuckled, "Look at you being a sentimental softie."
"I'm only doing this for you, ya know." He nudged her shoulder as they continued walking. "I do still owe you for the jumbo pop."
"Damn right you do." She scoffed, skipping ahead of him to cross the street. "Come along now, slick."
Nick rolled his eyes and quickly caught up to her. They entered the shop and quickly scanned the menu while waiting in line, though it was a little hard to read since they were the smallest ones in there and they had to step aside to be able to see their options.
Once they ordered an ice cream to share, they carried it to sit at a table close to the window. Even the smallest size they could get was still too big for them to eat, but they were willing to try.
"So what made you decide to do all of this for me?" She asked curiously, taking much smaller spoonfuls than him.
Nick shrugged nonchalantly, "It's your birthday. Why wouldn't we do something special?"
"I dunno. This is just the first time we've done something like this." She glanced out the window. "This is actually the first time I've celebrated my birthday in a while."
"Really?" He asked, genuinely shocked by this bit of information. "Why's that?"
Judy sighed, taking another spoonful of the sprinkly ice cream. "Eh, in my family after you turn 18, birthdays sorta just become another day. A little cupcake with a candle is all ya get."
Nick frowned sympathetically, since he could understand what it felt like spending birthdays alone with not even a real cake to enjoy. But he didn't expect that from Judy, since she came from a loving and caring family. But they were also a huge family, so it made sense that they couldn't always celebrate every single birthday.
But now that made him feel even better that he went all out to make this day special for her. She deserved nothing but the best, especially after all she did for him. "Well Carrots, when you're with me," He playfully tapped her nose with his spoon, "you won't ever have anything less than this."
Judy giggled and wiped away the small bit of ice cream from her nose. "Thanks, Nick."
After they eventually (halfway) finished their frozen dessert, they decided they were full and made their way to Nick's apartment to finish off the night with movies and snacks of her choice. She decided to take full advantage of this opportunity and selected her two favorite cheesy romance movies, Love Actually and Mamma Mia.
But before starting their little movie night, Nick had one more surprise left for her. As she put the popcorn bag in the microwave, he walked up to her holding his paw behind his back. "Alright Carrots, close your eyes and hold out your paw."
Judy realized what he was up to, and though she wasn't shocked, she was still reluctant. "Another surprise?" She giggled, "I can't take much more of these."
"It's the last one, I swear." He told her. "Now close your eyes."
She gave him a look before closing her eyes as instructed, hesitantly holding her paw out for him. He waited a moment for dramatic affect, then placed the small velvet box in her palm, having it already opened for her. "Okay, you can open them."
Judy felt a small blush appear on her cheeks as she saw the beautiful little carrot-shaped pendant in the box. If she had anticipated jewelry from him, she hoped it would be something this meaningful. "Aww Nick! It's beautiful!" She chirped, taking it out of the box. "Put it on me!"
Nick smiled at her excitement and undid the chain, bringing it up to her neck while she move her ears up and out of the way. Once it was clipped and secure, she turned around to face him again, playing with the charm. "How much did this cost?" She asked, hoping that it wasn't much. She would never want Nick to spend more than he could afford on her, even if she did appreciate it.
"Not too much." He said, "Besides, any price is worth seeing your smile."
Judy once again blushed, a bit surprised by his compliment. Well, sure he's complimented her before, but usually it was for jokes or was thrown in between playful insults. "You're such a kiss-up." She laughed, still admiring the pendant and how it shimmered in the light.
And while she was in awe at the gift, Nick was more focused on the bunny wearing it. Seeing her so happy today made him feel quite warm inside, and not just because it was him that made her feel the way (although that was a huge bonus). She was just so beautiful when she was happy like this. The way her amethyst eyes twinkled like jewels, how her bright smile occupied her adorable face, when her feet would bounce and her tail would twitch. Oh, Nick would give anything to see her like that all the time.
Even when Judy looked up to see him staring at her, his small smile of admiration didn't fade. If anything it added to the warmth in his stomach, for reasons he didn't want to admit. "What?" She asked, a little confused as to what he was doing. But she didn't really mind.
"Nothing." He shook his head, "Just lookin' at you."
"Softie." She smirked knowingly.
Nick scoffed and extended his arms, "Just get in here."
Judy laughed quietly and immediately made her way into his embrace, holding him snug and tight. "This is definitely the best birthday I've ever had." She said, nuzzling her head against his chest. "I love you."
He smiled and gently rubbed the back of her head, trying to keep her close to him. "I love you, too, Carrot cake."

Clear The Area - Chapter Five
Previous chapter HERE
Warning: Language
Summary: Sarah gears up to explain her choice to meet with her birth mother and finds Chris to be a bigger comfort than he realises.
Note: Bit of a shorter one, sort of a bridge into the next few situations...
Chapter Five
It was an unusually cold afternoon in Concord. Sarah had opted for a run for the first time that week and took a scenic route through Emerson Park to view the new sculpture exhibition the Mayor had opened back in March. it was rare she this time to herself and she had found her anxiety spiking pretty badly of late. Running always seemed to help with that.
She circled back around through the local town centre but soon regretted decision when she had to take shelter in a shop doorway during a sudden downpour. Thankfully, it didn’t last long but the strangest thing happened on her way home: she would up buying cream cakes in Bryson’s Bakery a couple of blocks away from their apartment. Hell, she’d put in the effort. she deserved a sugary treat.
Walking into her apartment, she was greeted by an obscene number of shopping bags, suit bags, and what looked like a hat box. There was almost every designer brand she had ever heard of or at least had recognised from the episode of America’s Next Top Model Shan had made her watch that one time. Speaking of which, she could hear the enthusiastic chatter between Shanna, Carly and Lisa coming from Shan’s bedroom and managed to climb over the bags to find her kitchen as she’d left it, complete with movie star hiding out with a newspaper and a beer. Chris looked so chilled out, she was almost jealous. She looked down at her jogging clothes and the few extra pounds clinging to her thighs and then back at him dressed casually in a black tee and jeans, as toned as he ever was. Fucking effortless. Jerk. He hadn’t been to the gym in weeks - something he would proudly broadcast to anyone within earshot - yet still managed to avoid putting on a single pound. He was eating and drinking whatever he wanted. He was just lucky with his metabolism, he explained. It was a goddamn deal with the devil, thought Sarah.
Chris looked up from his paper in time to see Sarah walk in and clock the bags on the floor. It took him all of .4 of a second to eye the box in her hands. He loved Bryson’s. Often, one of the first things he would do when back in town, after seeing his family of course, was to buy whatever they had left in store. He figured at this point he was one of their most valuable customers, probably more so than the unnamed NFL player Chris was certain was Julian Edelman. He hoped more than anything else that Sarah might have a strawberry cream donut in there especially for him but kept this thought to himself until he could ascertain just how annoyed she was with the mess taking up space in her home.
“Sorry, it’s for my birthday party next week. Some designers sent some things over and Mom’s evidently lost her shit. Hey, have you heard of a designer called Migos?” Chris asked as Sarah planted the box down on the kitchen island. “There is a neon yellow jumpsuit by him that I think Shanna has chosen and honestly, it’s the worst.”
“Migos? No clue I’m afraid. Why are they all sending stuff over for your party?” She opened the box and handed him his donut. Chris could have kissed her.
“The production company thinks it would be a good idea for me to have some pictures taken for social media. Show I’m an average guy or something, so they sent some outfits for the girls to wear.” Chris shrugged, too wrapped up in the donut to overthink it. Sarah could have sworn she blinked once and it was gone.
“And you’re OK with that? I thought it was just going to be a small thing? Family and close friends?”
“Yeh, I’m OK with it, I guess. As soon as Mom found out, they all got really excited about it. Didn’t have the heart to say no.” He gestured to his family currently laughing in unison down the hall. “It’s OK. It’ll get Matt off my back for a while, too.”
It wasn’t often that Sarah felt sorry for him, all tall and handsome and wealthy as he was, but she knew he prided his privacy above all things where his career was concerned, and he tried hard to keep his loved ones out of the limelight as much as he could. This couldn’t have been a decision he took lightly. As casual as he was trying to come across now, she could tell her was nervous about it, about what would be said and where the pictures would end up.
“You know I could hook you up if you like?” he offered. “There’s a lot of stuff coming in apparently. I’d bet you look great in Chanel. It’s not neon, I promise.”
“What and spill something on it? I don’t think I could live with myself.” she scoffed, mouth half full of cheesecake.
Chris look a little wistful for a moment as a comfortable quietness fell on them while she enjoyed her cheesecake. Soon, the only sound filling the apartment came from two doors away as someone had clearly made a great choice, the distinctive sound of expensive heels clicking on the wooden floor. Sarah contemplated hiding the other cakes from them and keeping them for herself but knew she couldn’t go through with it.
“Do you think I’m boring?” She asked after a couple of minutes.
“Define boring.”
“How many different ways are there to define boring?”
“Well, there’s...” he looked up from his paper for a moment, trying to think. “No, you’re not boring.”
“OK. That took a while. Appreciate it.” she threw her fork into the sink.
“Who said you were boring?”
“No one, really. Just the other day Greg said I was unassuming.” She made air quotations with her fingers.
“Unassuming isn’t the same as boring.” he reasoned. “Unassuming just means you’re quiet, y’know? What you see is what you get type of thing.”
“And that’s not boring to you?”
“No. It’s nice. It’s....comforting.” He smiled trying to reassure her but saw the concern etched across her face. “Sarah, you’re not boring. I wouldn’t be here as much as I am if you were boring.”
“But I’m no exciting, am I? Like, you wouldn’t call me a risk-taker.” Sarah wasn’t sure if she was asking him a question much less wanting to hear an answer. Compared to some of the people Chris hun out with, she was practically Mother Theresa.
Chris couldn’t work out if she was laying a trap for him here. Her had flashbacks to conversations he’d experienced relationships, times when he tripped up. Do I suit this Givenchy? Do you think your co-star is pretty? Were those sex scenes easy to shoot? Often, he found, there was no right answer. Difference her was that Sarah wasn’t like that.
“Sarah, you wouldn’t suit being a risk-taker. Trust me. It doesn’t get you anywhere fast.” He sounded serious. “You don’t need that shit in your life.”
She was grateful, of course she was, but nothing could stop the niggling doubts in the back of her mind that maybe she played things a little too safe at times. Why did she feel awkward accepting a date with Greg? He was nice and clearly into her. Maybe she was a little too quiet and careful. Maybe she could afford to be a little rash with her decisions every once in a while. What harm could be done? Audrey was right. She could learn to have a little more fun without worrying about the consequences.
“Sarah! We thought we’d missed you!” Carly came bouncing into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around Sarah’s shoulders from behind where she was sat. “Chris, you should see some of the clothes and shoes. I don’t know how you could ever get tired of this.”
Chris flicked his gaze to Sarah who looked a little apologetic, before he turned back to Carly. “Well, I’m glad you guys are having a lot of fun. Figured it out yet?”
Carly nodded. “Oh my god, yes! You’re gonna be so proud of us baby bro! Hey, Sarah? Have you figured out your plans with your folks? They should be arriving soon, right?”
“Um, yeh, that’s a good point actually. I should probably check in to see where they’re at. I’m not actually sure they remember when I live.” She grabbed her phone from her pocket and headed to her bedroom where it was quieter and she could focus on something different. She closed her door and took a breath. This wasn’t what she needed to be worrying about right now, whether a guy she was - at best - half interested in seeing thought she was a “safe” option. Her folks would be arriving at some point that day and she could look forward to spending some much needed time with them. That was all that mattered.
She located Jocelyn’s number in her iPhone and hovered her thumb over the dial, psyching herself up to call. Just as she was about to do it, Chris appeared in her bedroom holding up a garment bah with the unmistakable Chanel logo emblazoned across it.
“i grabbed this for you. Seriously, take a look. It’s pretty cute and it might make you feel better.” he laid the bag carefully on your bed, stroking down the front to remove any creases. Sarah was grateful. The only other time she’d worn a designer brand was at her graduation ceremony and she kept the label attached inside so she could return it afterwards.
“Thanks Chris. That’s really kind.” she smiled at him. Chris paused a second before backing out of her door, aware that she was gearing up to call her folks.
“Hey, just for the record?” he stopped and leaned back into her bedroom, arm leaning on the door frame. “I think you’re great just the way you are.”

Tumblr media
It’s about 30 minutes before you’re planning to close the shop up, counting some money in the cash register when a man comes in with bruises and a bloody face.
“Oh my god are you okay?” You gasp rushing out from behind the counter to the man, lightly grazing a finger over his cheek. “Your poor face, do you need a towel, or I have a bathroom in the back if you want to clean up. Do you need to contact the police?” You look at him with worries and sad eyes
“The police?” He chuckles, “What are you talking about?” he says before it clicks with him. “Oh my goodness love I’m so sorry! I should’ve taken this off before I came in but I have one more scene to film after my break, and then thankfully not another until the afternoon tomorrow. It’s just makeup, I’m so sorry for scaring you. I work next door, on the set of the show.” He informs you which is a big relief
“Oh thank god” you place and hand over heart. “I was really worried about you, especially with it being dark out and everything. I thought someone really hurt you” you caringly say
“I really am so sorry. I’d never mean to scare someone like that, I’m sorry I upset you. I’m also sorry if you were currently closing and I was that annoying last minute customer ” He frowns at first but then lightly laughs. “No it’s okay, I’m just glad you’re okay, and don’t worry, you’re not annoying at all. I wasn’t closing for at least 20 more minutes. Well now that we got that all figured out, how can I help you today?”
You smile a sweet smile, a smile that Richard realizes he would like to see more of. From the moment he saw you he thought you were gorgeous, and then meeting you made him realize not only were you pretty, but you were kind. Most strangers nowadays would stay away from a man with a bloodied face, not wanting to get involved, but you, you ran up to him to take care of him as soon as you saw him. It seemed like a total stranger cared more about him for one minute than some friends of his did his whole life. After that moment, Richard knew he had to see more of you.
“Uh, I’m not really sure actually. I’ve walked past this bakery many days now and I’ve been wanting something sweet lately so I decided to finally pop in. What do you think is good?” He asks looking at the glass full of different pastries and desserts. “Well personally, I think they are all good but I may be slightly biased because I baked them all” you giggle as his eyes widen. “You did this all by yourself?”
“Yep just me, I own it, run it, and bake everything” you smile. “So you’re cute, sweet, and talented?” He says with a big smile as your face turns a shade of pink and you just smile and nod. “I see you have trouble taking a compliment?” He states, still smiling. “I’m just a little shy, and not really used to it” You lightly giggle with your head down looking at the ground. “Well I mean it, you’re beautiful and you shouldn’t let anyone tell you otherwise, okay?”
“Okay” You smile and nod, now looking up at him. “Now if you don’t mind, I think I’ll take one of those peanut butter brownies to go please” he kindly asks taking out his wallet as you get a box for his brownie.
“Oh please, it’s on me. Don’t worry about it.” You tell him as you put it in the box and hand it to him, as he tries to hand you a $20 bill. “Are you kidding?! I gave you a heart attack tonight, I should be paying you millions for scaring a sweet girl like you, take it.” He places the bill on the counter, taking the box.
“A brownie doesn’t even cost $20! Here let me get your change” you giggle. “Nope, not happening” he says as he starts to back away from the counter. “It’s all yours, have an amazing rest of your night, it was great meeting you-“ he cuts himself off realizing he hasn’t learned your name yet. “Y/N” you say. “Y/N” he repeats. “Lovely name. I’m Richard”
“Richard. I like it” You smile. “It was nice meeting you too”
“I’ll be back soon!” He grins at you and opens the door to exit. “Just maybe without the blood next time!” You call out, giggling as he laughs and exits the bakery.
And he did just that, he was back soon. A lot sooner than you expected actually. Soon like 5 minutes after you opened the shop up the next morning at 7 am.
“Well aren’t you here early, good morning sunshine” you giggle and smile at him. “Well I had to pop into my favorite bakery to get a breakfast treat before filming starts. I have to admit, that was the best brownie I’ve ever eaten” he tells you.
“Well thank you, I try. I thought you don’t film until the afternoon though, it’s 7 am”
“Huh?” He asks, caught off guard
“That’s what you said yesterday, ‘thank god I don’t film until the afternoon’” you repeat his words
“Oh- yeah, that is right, you are correct. Well maybe I just wanted to try one of these good looking donuts before they get picked over when the morning crowd comes in” he smiles at you
“Cute, sweet, talented, and listens when I talk? This is the girl of my dreams” Richard thinks to himself
“Whatever you say Rich” you giggle. “Next time give the bakery a call, I’ll put whatever you want aside for you” you inform him. “You’d do that for me?” He asks. “Of course I would, here let me put my number in your phone, it’s easier to reach me that way”
You put your hand out to take his phone as he pulls it out of his pocket and hands it to you. You enter your number and call your phone so you have his as well, then handing the phone back to him.
You let him choose his donut, convincing him this time to not pay, considering he gave you $20 yesterday, which was totally unnecessary.
“Fine” he rolls his eyes and chuckles. “But you best believe I’m paying you double next time” to which you squint your eyes and smile, “we’ll see about that”
Richard leaves to go back home and catch up on his sleep after waking up early to which he claims to try a donut, which we both know that’s not true.
Your day goes on serving your customers and making custom birthday cakes and other treats that people ordered, texting Richard a few times along the way. It wasn’t anything incredible but it meant a lot to you.
Richard: “just thought I’d let you know that donut was worth getting up at 7 am for!”
Y/N: “I’m so glad you liked it! It means a lot:)”
Richard: “Liked it? I loved it! You’re definitely the best baker I ever met”
Y/N: “Seriously thank you, so so much. It means more than you’ll ever know”
Richard: “You’re so so welcome, you’ll be seeing a lot more of me. There’s so much more to try!”
Y/N: “I’ll be looking forward to it! :)”
Even though you just met, you liked him a lot. He was kind and caring, and the two of you just seemed to hit it off, even if it’s just as friends. Over the past day you’ve seen so much of him and got to talk that it just seems as you’ve known each other for a while now.
It’s getting near closing time and the customers are down to almost nothing, as you do what do every night, just the regular cleaning and checking over things. You’re wiping the few tables you have on the side of the bakery when you hear the door open, sitting the rag on the table and walking over to see who it is.
“I’m beginning to think, maybe you are that last minute annoying customer” you giggle at him and he shakes his head and smiles. “I told you that you’d be seeing a lot more of me, like I said before, there’s so much to try!” His face lights up as he speaks
“Oh! That reminds me, I have something for you” you say going behind the counter and grabbing a box that’s labeled “Richard” with a heart and a smiley face. “I was going to give you it in the morning because I didn’t expect to see you again but I’m glad you came in”
“What is this?” He smiles and looks at the box you’re holding confusedly. “Just a little something I made for you, open it” you hand him the box
He opens the box and smiles down at what’s inside. A custom made cookie in the shape of a movie camera, decorated in different colored icing to match and make it look as close to a real camera as you could.
“I really hope you don’t find it cheesy, I just thought because you were filming next door it’d be a cute idea” you tell him
“It’s not cheesy at all” he shakes his head. “You made this just for me?” He asks to which you nod. “Yep, all for you, I’m sorry if that’s weird, considering we just met, maybe I should have waited long-“ you begin blushing profusely as he cuts off your rambling
“It’s not weird at all, and I’ve honestly forgotten we’ve just recently met. I feel like I’ve known you for a lifetime. Don’t ever think it’s weird, I love it so much. No ones ever made me something, or thought about me enough to do something like this. No ones made me feel as special as you do. Thank you” he looks up at you with a big grin
“You are special to me, and I think about you a lot. All the time actually, hope that’s not weird either” you giggle. “I do too, I mean yeah your desserts are incredible, but why do you think I’ve been in here 3 times in 24 hours!?” He laughs
“I had a pretty good idea why after you told me you woke up at 7am just craving a donut” you nod your head informing him. “Did you now?” he cocks an eyebrow and sits the box on the counter, walking over to you and wrapping his arms around you. “Okay, maybe I wasn’t exactly craving a donut. I think what I was actually craving was you” his whispers close to your face as you both lean in, attaching your lips and kissing each other.
You break away from the kiss, “I don’t care what you’re craving, as long as it means I get to see you” you cup his cheek. “Does this also mean you’ll be my girlfriend?” He raises his eyebrows at you. “I think it does” you giggle at him
Days go by of him coming into see you multiple times a day, in the mornings, on his breaks, and every night before you close, even driving you there and home from time to time. Not to mention you were given an inside tour of the set of the new film he’s working on. He helps you clean the bakery when you need it, he always offers to buy things just so you can finish work early, he’s just perfect.
You’re wiping the counter one night before closing when Richard comes up from behind and wraps his arms around your waist, placing a kiss on your neck.
“I got so lucky” he whispers to you. “How so?” You ask, turning around and looking at him with a smile. “The sweetest thing in this whole bakery is mine” he winks at you before placing a big kiss to your cheek. “You really are something sweet”

Kurtbastian one-shot “Coming of Age” (Rated PG13)
Summary: An unfortunate accident while teaching his son to ride a skateboard does more than knock the wind out of Sebastian's sails. (1741 words)
Part 53 of Daddies
Read on AO3.
“Exercise bike … dragon fruit cuttings … barbells … another exercise bike … golf clubs … ooo, questionable Japanese print of three naked guys doing it. That’s definitely going in the save pile …”
Kurt peeks out the kitchen door into the living room when he hears his husband mumbling, finally awake after his three hour, painkiller-induced coma on the sofa. Kurt looks his exhausted husband over – the mess of hair on his head, his five o’clock shadow, his wrinkled white t-shirt. With cell phone in hand, peering at the screen through squinty eyes, he looks less like Sebastian Smythe and more like a stereotypical, rough-around-the-edges love interest from some cheesy rom-com.
And it makes Kurt smile.
It’s been a long time since he’s seen his husband so adorably rumpled. It makes him want to cuddle up next to him with a mug of apple cider and waste a whole day doing nothing but being quiet in one another’s company.
With everything going on in their lives, it’s been so long since they’ve been able to find the time.
Well, we have the time now, Kurt thinks as his eyes fall on the cast on Sebastian’s right arm – a souvenir from a recent attempt to teach their son to ride a skateboard.
Thomas took to it like a fish to water. But Sebastian - more like a fish trying to make a three tier Belgian chocolate cake with sour cream frosting.
To be fair, Sebastian used to be an incredible skateboarder back in the day. It was one of the things that attracted the hell out of Kurt when they first tried their hands at being friends. Watching him grind on the railings all over campus made up for a good third of the crap Sebastian had said to him in high school.
But working full time, traveling, getting married, and adopting a kid – especially a kid with special needs - left little time for Sebastian to sharpen his skills. He did fine going forward and stopping. He even popped a decent Ollie. But his attempt to do a kick flip ended with his feet twisted underneath him. He flew head over heels, then landed on his back with his arm twisted beneath him.
Kurt stayed by his side the entire trip to the hospital. He tried to joke with him, take his mind off it the same way Sebastian did with Kurt when he accidentally mixed Ambien and Dayquil with a booze filled donut and had to get his stomach pumped.
Sebastian cracked a smile, but that’s all Kurt could get out of him.
He didn’t make a single sarcastic comment the entire time they sat in the exam room, didn’t make a single off-colored joke when the nurse came to take his temperature. In fact, he was a model patient, which is odd for Sebastian.
And ever since, he’s been uncharacteristically quiet.
The more Kurt watches his husband sulk on the sofa, the more he suspects it’s not the painkillers keeping him sedated.
“Whatcha doin’?”
“Scrolling through Facebook marketplace.”
Kurt makes a face. “Why in the hell would you do that?”
Sebastian shrugs, making an I don’t know noise.
“Did you find anything interesting?”
“A-ha.” Sebastian turns his phone so Kurt can see. “Look at all these used CPR dummies! And just $40? That’s a steal!” Sebastian shakes his head, returning to the screen. “Why are the kid ones anatomically correct? That’s just nasty!”
“Uh … I feel there’s a story behind this,” Kurt says, sitting beside his husband. “And after our Elf on a Shelf battle, I’m not sure I want to hear it.”
“Wes has an irrational fear of CPR dummies.”
“But … he’s a doctor.”
“Yup. It made for an interesting four years during his Red Cross internship.”
“You’re not going to buy those CPR dummies, are you?”
“Why not?”
“Because there’s no need to have half a dozen used CPR dummies in the house.”
“They’re not going to be in our house.” Sebastian chuckles. “I’m gonna send them to Wes.”
“Why would you want to do that?”
“Because pulling pranks on your loved ones can be fun.”
“Or mean.”
“You should talk.”
“Bas …” Kurt puts a hand on his husband’s knee, hoping to pull his focus, but Sebastian doesn’t look away from his phone “… what’s going on with you?”
“What do you mean?”
“You’ve been a stick in the mud ever since you broke your arm.”
“Probably because I broke my arm.”
“Yeah, but the old Sebastian Smythe wouldn’t have let that keep him down. He would have seen the silver lining.”
“What silver lining?”
“For one thing, he would have jumped at the chance at getting a five hour bj whilest high on powerful, hallucinogenic painkillers. But you haven’t propositioned me. Not even once.”
“Maybe that’s because I’m not the old Sebastian Smythe,” he grumbles. “I’m just an old Sebastian Smythe.”
“Ah ...” Kurt nudges his way underneath his husband’s left arm, wedging himself between Sebastian and his phone, but Sebastian raises his arm higher to see over his head. “I think I see what’s going on. Sebastian, falling off a skateboard once does not make you old.”
“It doesn’t make me young,” Sebastian counters, swiping vindictively at his cell phone screen with his thumb.
“You haven’t stepped on a skateboard in over a decade. You can’t expect to just get on it and go. It’s not a bicycle.”
“Nothing says I wouldn’t have fallen off a bicycle, either.”
“I thought you were the one who didn’t care about growing old.”
“Yeah, well, maybe that’s because, stupidly, I didn’t think it was going to happen to me.”
Kurt is about to remind him that growing old happens to everyone, but he knows what his husband means. Even as a realist, knowing that old age happens to everyone, it scared the hell out of Kurt when it happened to his dad.
And when it started happening to him - his first grey hair heralding the beginning of the end as far as he was concerned.
But sitting beside his husband, curling into his side and laying his head on his chest, he recognizes that he also never believed Sebastian would grow old. Being a responsible adult human isn’t how he sees his husband, even though he’s been that for a while now. Sebastian has a certain boyish charm that seems to withstand the test of time. Nothing fazes him, he takes nothing seriously, and even at his most infuriating, he always finds a way to make life fun.
Listening to Sebastian talk about growing old is like watching Peter Pan hang up his pixie dust and his pointy hat to become a lawyer. It’s inconceivable.
“Breaking your arm doesn’t mean you’re old. It just means you’re not that good on a skateboard anymore.”
“Harsh.”
“But that’s not a bad thing. I know that we want to teach our children, be everything for them. I know you want to be Thomas’s hero, but you already are, and you didn’t need to get on a skateboard to do that. The most important thing is that you’re willing to try and willing to do. And willing to fail.”
Sebastian sighs, dropping his hand with the phone in it to his side and his head back on the couch.
“But I shouldn’t have failed. That’s the thing. I should have been able to get right back on that skateboard and ride it as if a day hadn’t gone by since the last time. And for a good few seconds, it felt exactly like that. I was riding again, and nothing had changed. But then I tried to do that flip, and I felt … heavier than I remember. Clumsier. My brain was telling my feet what to do, and my feet said Sorry! New phone, who dis? And then I hit the ground, and the whole world stopped. Thomas was so worried about me and you were calling 9-1-1 because I couldn’t get my ass up and do it myself. It was just so … humiliating.”
“I get that,” Kurt says, wrapping his arms around his husband’s torso and giving him a hug. “But I think you’re being a little too hard on yourself.”
“That comment is begging for a NC17 rated comeback, but I just can’t come up with one right now.” Sebastian sighs. “See? I told you. I’m old. I’m losing my touch.”
“I don’t see how you can honestly believe that. You’re in excellent shape! You exercise constantly - you run, you play handball, basketball, tennis. So, you couldn’t land one kick flip. To be honest, with the amount of stuff you can do, I would say you were due for one tiny failure. And aside from that …” Kurt snuggles closer, letting his hands roam, careful to avoid certain bruised areas in search for the ones that turn Sebastian on with the mere suggestion of a touch “… do you really think an old man would be having the amount of sex that you do? And not just regular, boring, vanilla sex … inventive sex.”
“Inventive, huh?”
“Yup. And you call me flexible.”
Sebastian grins and Kurt knows he’s got him. “Yeah, well, if there ever comes a day when I can’t fuck, please do the humane thing and shoot me.”
“It’s a deal. And look, if you want to take up skateboarding again, it’s not too late. Tony Hawk is 51 and he still boards. You’re nowhere near that old. With a little time and effort, you can get your old mojo back.” Kurt bites his lower lip in an attempt not to laugh. “I’m sure Thomas would love to teach you.”
“Ha-ha.” Sebastian glares at Kurt, but his grin doesn’t only stay, it grows. “I guess you’re right. I’ll take stock of how many more limbs I’m willing to fracture and get back to you guys.” He raises his left arm and goes back to fiddling with his phone. It makes a cheerful dinging noise and Kurt sighs.
“You just bought those CPR dummies, didn’t you?”
“Maybe …” Sebastian giggles. “Can’t help it. Facebook makes it too easy.”
“Sebastian, I love you, but you are a man with way too much money and way way too much time on your hands.”
Sebastian scrolls back to the questionable Japanese print, his thumb hovering dangerously close to the ‘checkout’ button. “You’re not wrong.”

The Surprise Party
Preparations
Marie frowned at her reflection in the mirror, wondering if she had really gained as much weight as Patricia claimed she had. After a few more moments of close scrutiny, Marie grew weary of the task. Sighing, she sat back down on her bed, staring straight ahead at the blank, white wall. It was the middle of summer yet there was nothing for her to do in the house.
Sure, she had plenty of friends, but it was too early in the morning. And unlike her, some of them were working summer jobs to save up for college. For her and her friends, college was a year away yet Hannah and Lauren already started worrying about how they’d make ends meet. Luckily for Marie, her parents saved a decent-sized college fund for her, which she was very thankful for.
Except for this moment because she was very bored.
“Tonight, we are young So let's set the world on fire We can burn brighter than the sun!”
Holding her phone in her hand, Marie happily listened to her ringtone, waiting for it to near the end before she answered the phone. She would’ve picked it up right away, but that would’ve made her seem desperate for attention or something. Once she had waited a sufficient amount of time, she slid her finger across the screen to answer the call before placing the phone to her ear.
“Marie, it’s Gavin. You’ve got to help me. Are you free right now?”
The small smile on her face broke out into a huge grin at that instant, but Marie did her best to keep her voice calm. “I mean, I was sleeping, but now that I’m awake, I guess I’m free. What’s up? Did something happen with Tracy?”
“No, no. Tracy and I are fine. It would be easier if you just came over to my house, though. Please be quick about it.” Hiding the amusement from her voice, Marie replied with annoyance, “Geez, Gavin, the things I do for you… I’ll be there in 20 minutes. If you’re making coffee for yourself, make me a cup, too. I think I’m still half asleep. Anyways, see you soon.”
✖ ✖ ✖
Sitting comfortably on Gavin’s couch, Marie took a small sip of her coffee. “Okay, so what’s the situation? Why did you invite me at—” she paused to glance at her cell phone. “9:37 in the morning? Need I remind you how early that is in teenager time?”
On the couch directly across from her, Gavin sat with Tracy leaning on his shoulder, still half-asleep. Looking down at his girlfriend’s sleepy face, he smiled before turning his attention back to Marie. “Well, it’s not that early. Did I really wake you up?”
She rolled her eyes. “Of course, idiot. Why would you even ask that? I never wake up before noon in the summer.” Hidden deep inside the pocket of her light pink hoodie, Marie’s right hand slightly shook while she spoke, revealing her answer as a lie.
Luckily for her, Gavin was none the wiser this time, because he went straight to business. “Okay. So, I invited you here because we’ve got a dilemma. Remember Hannah? Well, it’s her 17th birthday tomorrow. But don’t worry. I remembered just in—”
Tracy stirred and began laughing, cutting off her boyfriend from speaking. Once she stopped laughing enough to speak, she glanced over towards Marie and explained, “Total bullshit. The only reason he remembered is because of Facebook.”
Gavin cleared his throat. “It doesn’t matter how I found out, okay? All it matters is that I know now, and I’m telling Marie. Anywho, before I was so kindly interrupted, I was going to say… what do we do, Marie? We’re such bad friends. I swear—”
Marie interrupted, “Stop, Gavin. I’m sure we’ll come up with something brilliant in no time, okay? Besides, her birthday is tomorrow. We’ve got plenty of time. Do you know if Lauren is working today? If not, we should invite her over, too.”
Tracy carefully rose from the couch, stretching out her arms as she stood. "I'll call her. That bitch has some explaining to do. It’s been two weeks since I last stopped by the donut shop during her shift. She’s been so busy lately. I miss her annoying voice.”
A sick feeling spread through Marie’s stomach. There was something so wrong about what her best friend just said yet… how does one even confront the person they enjoy hanging around the most? Deciding to keep her mouth shut, she nodded quietly.
After that, time seemed to speed up for the trio. Lauren picked up but she claimed to be too busy to come over, but once Tracy told her about the birthday planning, she agreed to take a day off work to make it to the party. By lunchtime, Gavin had to leave for his shift at the bookstore, leaving just Lauren and Marie alone to talk out the finishing touches for the surprise party.
It was around 3pm when the pizza arrived. It was also around 3pm when the two girls had finally finished talking out every single detail, from where the party would be located—at Gavin’s house, of course—to what kind of cake they’d order: red velvet, which was a favorite amongst every person in the small group of friends. They even invited a ton of people from school to come, too.
All that was left was to make sure that Hannah actually showed up at the right time. Placing her pizza down momentarily, Marie looked over to Tracy expectantly. “Which one of us should stop by Hannah’s apartment? I think she might have the day off tomorrow, but I’m not really sure. I don’t mind going to check, though. Unless you want to, which is totally okay, too.”
“I think you should go, Marie.” Tracy stared off into the distance, almost as if she were remembering a painful memory. “Things didn’t go so well between me and Hannah the last time we spoke in private. That was five weeks ago and I feel so... lost.”
Marie shrugged. “It’s not your fault, Tracy. Seriously. I’ve been having issues with Hannah, too. I just hope this birthday party will be enough to help all of us heal and move forward with our friendships. I really miss what we all had before.”
“It was so great, huh?” A light smile graced Tracy’s lips. “Just me, you, Hannah, and Lauren against the world. But ever since summer started, Hannah and Lauren have been growing more distant. Hannah’s been more distant than Lauren, though. I just hope I didn’t break up the group when I started going out with Gavin towards the end of junior year. I’d feel so bad if I did.”
Shaking her head quickly, Marie replied, “Tracy, of course not! On the bright side, Lauren still texts in the group chat. Hannah has been giving me the cold shoulder for at least six weeks now. If she’s doing this on purpose, I will personally hurt her myself.”
“Don’t say that.” Tracy stifled laughter. “The line would be way too long of all the people that want to hurt Hannah. But forget that. We’re going to try to find our old best friend again. This birthday party will be the perfect thing we need to fix it all.”
Marie sighed. “I hope so, Tracy. I… really hope so.”
The Big Day
Marie took a deep breath to mentally prepare herself, and then, with the phone still to her ear, she said, “Okay, Tracy. I’m right outside Hannah’s apartment building. Are you sure you’re ready? Is everything set up? And did everyone show up?”
“Relax, Marie. Everything is completely under control here. Just play it cool like we practiced. You’ll do fine.”
“Thanks for the vote of confidence. I’ll see you soon, then.” Quickly, she hung up and pocketed her phone. Then, without another moment of hesitation, Marie walked forward and rang the doorbell of the apartment, waiting for a familiar brunette to appear.
Except after a few seconds, there was nothing. No movement. No muffling. No shouts of “I’ll be there.” from Hannah like she did every other time that Marie came to visit. And unlike other times, the air was still and quieter than usual.
Seeing no other option, Marie tried to ring the doorbell again.
Just like the first time, nothing happened.
Now, Marie was really starting to panic. If it wasn’t for Hannah’s red Toyota parked right in front of the apartment complex, then Marie would’ve assumed that her best friend was busy working. Except she wasn’t working. She had to be home. Right now.
When she lifted up her hand to start knocking on the door, the door seemed to open by itself. That was when the second red flag went off in her head. Hannah had never been stupid enough to leave her door unlocked before. In fact, she was the one in the group who would always preach about safety to Marie, Tracy, and Lauren. Out of all of them, Hannah was the most mature.
As anxiety gnawed away at her nerves, Marie took a tentative step into the apartment. The minimalistic decor looked exactly as she remembered it. Nothing in the apartment seemed out of place. Everything had its own place. In fact, the whole apartment was so immaculately cleaned and organized. Just like Hannah. It even smelled like her, too. The faint smell of lavender sat in the air.
Yet even as Marie walked through the apartment, she couldn’t hear anything. The air was unbelievably still. Almost as if the entire apartment was empty. But if the apartment was empty, then where would Hannah be? Why would she just leave her car parked in front of the apartment complex? Where else could she have gone and how? Things just weren’t adding up here.
The hallway finally ended, leaving Marie facing the family room. Her jaw dropped when she noticed that Hannah’s phone was resting on the coffee table. It was the new iPhone 8. Hannah waited all day and night in line to get that phone. It was her first phone, too, and because of that, she never left the house without it. To see it just lay around now was absolutely worrying.
Still, though, Marie held onto the small amount of hope that she had in her best friend. Maybe she’s just sleeping, Marie thought. If I go into her room now, I can wake her up and this whole nightmare will be over. Trying to keep herself calm, she began tip-toeing in the direction of Hannah’s bedroom, a place she had visited so many times that she knew it like the back of her hand.
When she opened the door, Marie let out a heart-wrenching scream.
Instead of finding Hannah sleeping peacefully on her bed, she found Hannah’s dead body hanging limply from the ceiling fan.

TIP LIFE
My First 5 Months in T.I.P
Hi I'm Ma. Elizabeth Therese N. Doronela, 16 years old from Antipolo City. Taking Up HUMSS (Humanities and Social Science) in T.I.P. I take up HUMSS strand because I want to be a lawyer someday. I decided to study at T.I.P because of the good feedbacks. My school is far from my home but it's alright because I really want a high quality education to get that "Atty." before my name.
JUNE
First day of school. I arrived at school at exactly 12:35 P. M. I know that I am kinda late but its fine because our Teacher was not already in the room. As I enter the room its a bit awkward because we are all total strangers, I do not know anyone and nobody
knows me. Finally after several minutes our General Mathematics teacher Mr. Jehrist John Uy came inside our classroom and greeted us. He first discuss his house rules and the grading system in Genmath after that we introduce our self. Name - Age - Address - Something Unique About Yourself, that is what we need to tell when we introduce our self. That moment I get to know my classmates a little bit and I was shy telling what's unique about me because I have nothing to tell. My first impression to our Genmath teacher and adviser is that he is cool and a great teacher. Sir Jehrist amazes me because aside from being funny, he is also a good and smart Teacher.
My First Month in T.I.P was great, of course as I expected I will be having more adjustments because of the new people, new environment and new system here but I am more thinking about the good side.
As I walk upon the hallway I just can't stop my self from over thinking and worrying how my Senior Highschool life would be. I am now stepping out of my comfort zone and
I am stepping in to the next chapter of my life. I just can't imagine how was my life in T.I.P wherein I don't have any clue if I will be having a good friends or teachers, to be honest among all the schools that I was thinking about T.I.P is the least school that I was expecting that I will go to. I have so many thoughts about how will my life in T.I.P goes. Days passed, I get to know some of my classmates. I make friends with them talk to them and open some topics or story to some of them. I had a good time with some of my classmates for the first week of the school year and I'm looking forward to be in touched also with my other classmates. So far, so good. I get to know many things on my first weeks in T.I.P. "what?! really", "myghash", "seriously?" these words are the words that always came out from my mouth because some of my teachers amazes us with some facts and trivias. I am admitting it, my first month in my school was a bit hard because of so many adjustments but it was really fun meeting new people and learning something from them.
My favorite place here in T.I.P is the Chapel. This is the most beautiful place in the school for me because this place always brighten my day. I cant say that I always go there everyday but as much as I can I always go there whatever I am going through. Happy? Sad? Excited? Frustrated? Nervous?, chapel was always my go to place in school. Now I will share some story about my unforgettable experience in the chapel. So there's a guy who is praying in the chapel and after a minute he ask me "ate is life fair or unfair?" and I was shock because I was to exit the chapel, the guy look so sad and frustrated I think he is a college student. The next thing is I answered him, honestly It took a seconds before I answered him because I was really shocked of what he ask. "I think yes kuya because some of us is happy and some are not" I answered him, and he just nod his head. I have no idea why that guy ask me that, but I really saw the sadness in his face, that time I really want to spoke up to him and say "kuya you can get up to this, God is good". but I don't have enough time so I just go out of the chapel and start thinking and realizing what that guy is going through. I don't know what he is sad or whatever but I just wish that he can go through that situation.

JULY
This month I focused more on my studies. Nutrition Month is the main event for July, Its fun because a Doctor have some talk about healty living and taught the students about proper diet. The Month of July is full of school works and performance tasks, it makes the whole class more and more. Reportings, Role Play, Written works, Hang Outs, Milktea dates and Home Works that is what my Month goes.
I have this new discovery about T.I.P and that is the garden along with T.I.P anniversary hall. The garden is so beautiful especially at night, Its fun to watch the trees that are dancing and waving. This month makes me realize that I really need to work hard because before I go to my classroom for my first subject I saw a big board that has all the names of Dean's Listers in T.I.P QC and it makes me inspired every time I walk there and saw their names.
Aside from our classroom and lobby in building 9 , one of the place in T.I.P that I often go to is the Canteen. It's kinda noisy, messy and crowded but it is the best place to make "chika" and rant with your friend. I think the canteen has a big part on knowing my close friends because we always go there and share food and stories together. I always eat waffle and maccaroni. I will tell story about my favorite encounter at the canteen. So its our free time and me and my classmate go down to buy some food in canteen, I am craving for donuts that time and exactly I have 17 pesos in my pocket so I buy the cake butternut in happy house donut and then I pay for the donut and suddenly the seller said that the cake butternut donut is 18 pesos and my money is 17 pesos only and I left my wallet in the classroom that time and I was like worried because my room is in 4th floor and I don't know what to do, a seconds ago there's a girl who gives me a 1 peso and I was so thankful because of her. She just save me, I really appreciated it because she doesn't know me but she efforted to give me 1 peso. I said thank you for several times because I was just so happy that she helped me even if she didn't know me well. That time I realize that kindness is truely every where.

AUGUST
August is what they called a ghost month because of many suspensions and holidays
but it also a good month because it is the celebration of Buwan ng Wika. The activities are so exciting. Festival Dance, "Sabayang Pagbigkas", "Tagisan sa Pag-Awit", "Batuhang Bola", "Karerang Sako", "Patintero" and many more indigenous games are the activities in Buwan ng Wika. It's so fun because we are able to meet new people aside from our classmates because we're shuffled with Grade 12 students. "Pintados-Kadyaan" is our group name. I joined the Sabayang Pagbigkas together with my other classmates and Grade 12 students. We train and train until we memorized the piece and the the choreography, becaus of many suspensions we are able to make practice and we also rehearse the whole performance every after class. Days passed and the presentation is coming. August 29, 2019 is the day that we are going to perform it. We are all nervous and excited at the same time, after a half an hour we are all done performing our piece, we feel relieve because we really worked hard for it. We are
all confident that we can get the award.
One day after and It is the awarding day and the host announces that we are 2nd placer, we are all happy because our hard work pays off, not the first place but sill grateful. The thing that I really wanna treasure this month is the friendship that we build while practicing for the Sabayang Pagbigkas, I may not always see them or be with all of them but the friendship will be always be there.

SEPTEMBER
September is the start of the ber months, it's kinda exciting. September is also the month where marks start of 2nd grading. New grading, new life and a chance to bounce back. I admit it i do not put my full effort on the first grading cause I felt that I am having a hard time to cope with the system of T.I.P in terms of academics. I said that I will make "bawi" for the second grading. This month is very stressful one because of too many school works. This is also the month where I always go home late because me and my classmates used to hang out every after class. Here's my fun story, one afternoon I am walking in the hallway because I'm going to the comfort room then I was singing the song "Imahe" and a group of college students saw and hear me singing and they all sing with me and I laughed so hard they are all funny. We are all laughing like we know each other.
I putted more effort on learning and getting a high scores in tests this month. Oral Communication is one of my favorite subject not only the subject but also the teacher which is Ms. Aivy, she is such a good teacher she's my favorite teacher. I am always looking forward to see and have discussion with her. I learned a lot from Ms. Aivy academically and she also from her life experiences. I remember this line from Ms. Aivy "You will learn If you are willing to" and I think that is beautiful. Nothing is more beautiful than a Teacher who believes in his/her students. She is one of the kindest person I know, she is a very inspiring woman. Ms. Aivy is one of the best people I know in T.I.P.

October
October is the month of intramurals, the theme is The Hunger Games (Rise of the Districts) and my section which is 11HUMSSB2 are in the District 4 Fishing. Of course before the Main event which is the sports, The advisers make a try out for all the fishing team members. Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton and many more and I try out for the sport which is Volleyball and I passed the tryout, I was playing volleyball since 2013 so I have a much skills to play. There's also Street Dance Competition, Battle of the Bands and Mobile Legends.
All the students were so excited because of too much activties we are going to do in the latter part of the month. Before the intramurals we train and make some meeting with the whole fishing team and its so fun meeting other people once again. We are all from different sections and strands but we are united as one, as Team Fishing.
Days passed and the Intramurals 2019 is held. October 21. 2019 Early in the morning I woke up at 5 A.M. because the players needs to come to school at early as 6:00 A.M. The Opening Ceremony of the Intrams 2k19 was blast there's the presentation of the escorts and muses of each districts and also the performance of drum and lyre by the Quirino Elementary School students. After an hour all the sports are starting. 12:00 the Volleyball game started and we are all excited to play. The first game is Fishing vs. Textile (Women's Volleyball). The game was started and Its so fun, the game is exciting because of the strength of each team. Our first game was a win and we are all happy and were looking forward in the next game. After the game I ate at the food bazaar and take some rest. The event in the afternoon is the battle of the bands and it was lit, it was so fun hearing the talents of those singers.
The second day of the Intramurals is also a big day for us because it is our semi finals for Volleyball. Our opponent is the Team Lumber. The game started at 12:00 P. M
the summary of the game is in the first set the Lumber won and in the second set the Team Fishing won and at the tie breaker which is up to 15 only the Lumber won. We might not get the final spot but we are happy because we are in the third place. I'm kinda sad because of that but at the same time I feel relieve because I can rest after the game. The third and last day of Intramurals was a blast because of the performance of Street Dancers, they are really good dancers and after that the final games for Volleyball and Basketball and also the awarding. Finally the Intramurals 2019 was done, too much fun and too much memories that I will treasure forever. The friendship and team we've made will be forever in my heart.
I learned a lot. Sportmanship, Friendship, Hardwork is the really essence of that Event. It's not the sports and games that I really had fun but the people who I met and all the learnings.
Hardwork Beats Talent When Talent Fails To Work Hard.

In summary my first five months in T.I.P is like a rollercoaster ride. There is ups and downs but I am still grateful because I know that God has a plan. Looking forward for the next 5 months in T.I.P. I learned a lot and that's what matters.
It is fun being a certified TIPIAN, I am proud that I am a student of Technological Institute of the Philippines.

you’re absolutely right and gonta deserves to be one of the wonders of the world (he makes an appearance in oumas one here~)
Tumblr media
another really long one! under the cut we go
AMAMI
On one of your trips to the arcade, the contents of a certain machine caught your eye, making you gasp in enticement. Pressed up against the glass, your eyes glittered seeing the collection of cute plushies packed into it.
“Amami-chan, wait, I have to win like, every one of those.” You said seriously, pulling out your wallet. Rantaro chuckled-- while he knew how rigged these machines were he couldn’t bring himself to say no, knowing your weakness for cute things. It’d also be fun for him to see you try.
You rolled the coin in the slot enthusiastically and began to operate it. However, this enthusiasm slowly dwindled after every failed attempt, and as you got down to your last few coins, your patience was wearing thin. Rantaro, who was looking on in amusement, stepped forward.
“Wait,” He said, moving you over gently. “Let me.”
“Oh?” You challenged. “You seem confident. I’ve never seen you play one of these before.”
“Hey, I’ve plenty experience.” He said playfully. “This was how I budgeted buying gifts for all my sisters.” Truthfully he was exaggerating as he bragged-- he had only frequented arcades with one of his sisters and been successful at a claw machine once or twice.
“Okay,” You hummed, taking his words with a grain of salt. Your eyes followed the path of the crane he was now controlling.
“Now,” He said, bluffing. “Witness me.”
So you did. And watched as his crane lowered, grabbed a plush toy shaped like a fox ...And landed straight into the chute.
You gasped, not expecting for the machine to actually play in your favour. “Oh!? You did it!”
Trying to internalise his excitement, he held it up coolly with a smile and handed it to you.
“Sorry __-chan.” He laughed. “I couldn’t get you all of them, but this ones all yours.”
You shook your head, smiling. “Don’t worry about that!” You held it close and wrapped your arm around his.
“It’s perfect.”
KIIBO
You were walking past a patisserie on the street when the display caught your eye. With a gasp you ran over to the shop window, pulling him with you. “Kiibo, look! These are so, so cute!” You pointed at the sweets in question.
He tilted his head, processing what you were showing him.
“What are they?”
“They’re donuts! But they’re shaped like animals, see?” You said without giving him a chance to reply, rushing into the shop. He quickly followed suit, with an indignant cry to wait for him.
Awaiting inside were much more assortments of desserts, and you immediately swooned over each of the cute pastries— some of them breads shaped like turtles, cakes with bunny toppers, butterflies iced onto cupcakes… Kiibo had to admit they were cute, even if he disliked the robot made out of fondant glaring at him in the corner.
“Hm~” He heard you say. “I’ll take three of those, a box of donuts, one of each of these… Ooh, and this too!” You excitedly placed an order to the rather overwhelmed cashier.
Kiibo placed a hand on your shoulder. “W-wait, __-chan, do we need to buy so many? I can’t even eat and there’s no way you’ll be able to finish them all by yourself.”
Without hesitation, you turned to him with a grin. “I know what I can handle.”
Kiibo gulped in response and took a step back, letting you do your thing and listen in distress to the steadily rising amount of sweets you were ordering.  You twirled out of the shop leaving with your wallet a little lighter and a very confused Kiibo holding a stack of toppling dessert boxes.
KOREKIYO
You hadn’t felt like getting up from your current position for what felt like hours. You felt content relaxing in the park with your boyfriend Korekiyo, your head leaning against his shoulder.  Amidst your sleepiness, you perked up as you saw something across from you.
“Oh! How adorable!” You exclaimed, nudging Korekiyo next to you. He jolted, eyes darting around to see what you were talking about.
His eyes fell upon a bunch of preschoolers holding hands as they all crossed the road together in matching uniforms and tulip name tags.
“Aren’t they so cute and innocent? I just wanna take them all home~”
“Hm…” He mused. “I do think our careers as Ultimates would provide a steady enough income for us and a few children. Though I cannot picture a whole nursery, the thought is amusing.”
“Although…” He was completely lost in thought now, and you knew when he was in this state it was difficult to stop him. “A house or even a fairly sizeable apartment would be nice-- I’d like some space to display my artefacts. And I wouldn’t mind the companionship of a cat or dog; some reptiles or such to observe even.”
You stared at him as he rambles on, face flushing red at his implications. He was really describing you two living the perfect domestic life with a straight face.
Korekiyo looked back at you and smiled, confusion still written on your face as you tried to process the tangent he just went on. He pressed a kiss to your cheek.
“You say the most wonderful things that make me look forward to the future. Now, let’s go home.”
With that, he promptly got up and started walking. You remained motionless on the bench, still blinking at his words. Suddenly you snapped out of it, and quickly rushed to catch up with your boyfriend.
“I-I didn’t say anything!”
GONTA
He was showing you his bug collection in his Ultimate Lab, describing each of them to you when your eyes landed on a shiny ladybug.
“Oh!” You dropped to eye level to look at it closer. “This one's really cute!”
“__-chan can hold it, if __-chan wants!”
“Really!?” You gasped. He nodded, and opened the bug catcher box it was residing in. It flew out immediately, and you stared after it in awe.
“Ladybug for making wishes. Good luck if it lands on you.” Gonta smiled.
Your eyes followed it as it flew around his lab, and giggled when it landed on Gonta’s forehead. He exclaimed in surprise, crossing his eyes to try and look at it so he could make a wish.
“Bug-san, Gonta wish luck on __-chan.” He announced, transferring it from his forehead to his hand. Then he turned to you, and gently held yours as he let it walk across to your palm.
“Here.” He said softly.
You let out a soft gasp of amazement. “It’s adorable! Isn’t this the cutest thing you’ve ever seen!?” You squealed. You cupped the ladybug into your hands, and showed Gonta with a wide smile on your face. He returned the smile— he loved seeing his two favourite things together; you, and bugs.
At your question, however, Gonta looked puzzled for a moment, staring as you continued to shove it closer to his face.
He gently took hold of your hand and lowered it so he could clearly see you.
“Gonta think you the cutest thing Gonta ever see.”
KAITO
When you were walking one day, excitedly chatting to each other, Kaito suddenly stopped mid-conversation. “Woah, wait— babe, slow down.” He said seriously, putting out an arm in front of you suddenly. “Look.”
You focused your attention ahead; sure enough, a trail of ducklings following their mother was crossing the road. It was highly amusing seeing someone like him become so protective over tiny ducklings, but it was endearing. Behind him, you clasped your hands and smiled.
“How cuuuuute! Let’s keep them, Kaito, I want 50!” You exclaimed, eyes sparkling as you approached them.
He grabbed your wrist from behind. “Y-You can’t! As much as I want to, too, you really can’t!”
You squirmed in his grasp, trying to break free. “Then I’m just— I’m just going to pet it!” You said. He knew that was a lie on your part, if he let you pet it you’d soon scoop it up and hide it in your coat.
“No, __-chan, they’ve got a mother!” He argued, struggling with your determination. “You’re gonna break up a family!”
When enough time had passed and he was sure you wouldn’t try to disturb them anymore, he released you.
You frowned in displeasure as you stared at their leaving forms.
“Kaito, let’s go to a pet shop later.”
RYOMA - cross referenced from an earlier ask!
“I’m not falling for that again.”
The two of you were in a cat cafe and playing with the cats when you asked to take them home. You were particularly attached to the one curled up on your lap, and didn’t want to say goodbye. It wasn’t a surprise to you that he shut down the idea, but you frowned anyway.
“Just this one, then?”
“None.”
“But they’re so cute, and they’re all up for adoption! Just one more won’t be too bad, right?” You pouted.
“Don’t do this to me, __.” Ryoma sighed, but there was a sternness in his voice. “That Kaede just dropped off a box of them, too. We’ve got way more cats than we can handle. Every time we adopt ‘just one more’, it adds to our problems.”
“Our catastrophe, you mean!”
“No cat puns, either.”
“I’m just kitten around~”
At that, he gave you a piercing stare. “...We can take it home if you promise not to make another pun.”
“Yes!” You cheered, as he sighed in defeat again. You always knew how to wear him down.
SHUICHI
On a casual stroll with your boyfriend through the park, you noticed something was rapidly running towards you. It was unmistakably animal, and its speed alarmed you.
Shuichi squinted. “What’s that getting closer--” He began, but didn’t get to finish his sentence when the wind was knocked out of him suddenly. “W-Woah!?” Shuichi yelled, stumbling backwards. You spun around, looking at what just attacked him. You blinked, realising it was just a dog. The dog, a golden retriever, had jumped on him suddenly and tackled him to the ground, tail now wagging and licking his face.
You laughed at the sight, even snapping a photo of it on your phone as you gushed over it.
At this, the dog perked up and bounded its way over to you.
“Really?” Shuichi complained. “It’s so much nicer to you…”
“Don’t you know animals are only nice to the pure of heart?” You teased back, smiling as you patted the dog and even got it to sit and give you a handshake.
Soon enough, someone rushed over-- you assumed it to be the dog’s owner, who was bowing and apologising for the trouble.  You shook your head with a smile much to a certain detectives dismay. “No, it’s okay! He was very well behaved.”
The owner apologised again before walking away with their dog, leaving you to help up a very rattled Shuichi. When he looked back into your eyes and saw them glittering with excitement, he gulped, knowing what you were going to suggest next.
“We should adopt a dog, Shuichi! They’re so cute, and honestly, I’d want like 50 pets.” You chirped, as you looked back at the dog in the distance, tail still wagging. When you looked back to your boyfriend, he was shaking his head profusely.
“Please, no...” He let out, breath ragged. “Let’s just get a fish, or something…”
OUMA
He didn’t expect this to go as poorly as it did.
Ouma was introducing you to his friend Gonta, and much to Ouma’s dismay, your eyes lit up as soon as you laid eyes on the taller boy.
“Oh my, you’re so cute!” You exclaimed, not letting Ouma finish what was going to be his half-assed introduction of Gonta. “I love your glasses— where did you get them!? Gosh, can’t I just take you home!? You’re adoooorable!”
Gonta was noticeably blushing at this, laughing as he scratched the back of his neck and answered your questions awkwardly.
Ouma was standing idly by, narrowing his eyes. His pout went unnoticed by you as you fawned over Gonta’s soft hair. Ouma grew irritated as more and more attention was placed onto Gonta and not on him.
“Okay, okay, cut it out!” He said, annoyed, and began to pull you away from him. “Let’s go have lunch already, __-san.”
You turned your head around to wave at your new friend as you were dragged away, Gonta waving back albeit his confusion. When he let go of you, he slumped into his chair, appearing to be very concentrated on his bento in an attempt to avoid eye contact with you.
“Aww. Were you jealous, Ouma-chan?” You tease, ruffling his hair.
“I-I wasn’t!” Ouma said indignantly, choking on a bite of his rice. “He’s just an idiot, is all.” He grumbled, batting your arm away.
You raised your eyebrows. He was totally jealous.
You let his comment hang in the air for a while, knowing his neediness for affection would show itself. Soon enough, he suddenly grabbed your hand and placed it on his head again, prompting you to continue.
“Okay, so I lied! Whatever. Maybe a little.”

Chapter 9
Chapter 1 . Chapter 2 . Chapter 3 . Chapter 4 . Chapter 5 . Chapter 6 . Chapter 7 . Chapter 8
You follow Lauren, Pierce's assistant, as she leads you to the door. She motions for you to go in, and leaves you to stand there alone.
You take a deep breath, and slowly open the door. Pierce is sitting behind his desk looking over various papers. He doesn't look up, but motions for you to take a seat.
You notice there's a second seat today, one is occupied with a middle-aged looking man. You take the other seat, and exchange a slight nod to the other man.
"This is Agent Coulson." Pierce looks up at the two of you and folds his hands on the desk in front of him. "I'm assigning you to him for a few days. Anything he says, you do it." He stares at you for a moment before returning his attention back to the documents on his desk. "That is all, you may both leave."
You both stand and exit, Coulson jogging forward to open the door for you. You smile in appreciation and wait as he walks out behind you.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." He smiles and offers you a hand, you shake it and note that he seems much more energetic outside of Pierce's office. Understandable. "I hear you're on Rumlow's Strike team. That's some badass stuff..like...working with the Captain all the time." His smile widens and he almost seems like a giddy school girl.
You can't help but laugh and smile, his enthusiasm is extremely contagious. "It's definitely exciting, to be honest I was always a huge fan of Steve's. It's almost surreal to know him personally."
Coulson's jaw drops. "You mean...you know know the Captain? You don't just work together, you actually...hangout?"
"Yes?..." You chuckle again at his disbelief. "Maybe I can introduce you to him sometime?"
His eyes go wide. "A-are you s-serious?" He squeals excitedly like a little girl, and you look around to ensure no one is watching.
"Yeah...but you gotta promise not to do that." You laugh, and he nods enthusiastically.
Two days later:
"So I'm sure you're excited to be getting back to normal, I'm sure playing body guard the last few days hasn't exactly been cupcakes and pumpkin lattes." You laugh at Coulson's choice of words, you had gotten rather used to his child-like sense of humor during your time together.
It's kinda nice actually. You frown to yourself as you realize you're going to miss him.
"Oh don't look so sad, Pierce will be glad you passed his little test. Maybe you can go on some real missions now, huh?" He looks excited for a moment, then covers his hand with his mouth as he realizes he said something he shouldn't. "I mean...um...What? Did you hear someone call me?" He turns to flea but you grab his arm.
"Wait...what did you say?" You stand in front of him to block his path.
He fidgets for a moment before glancing around, and waits as someone walks by with a cart of office supplies before pulling you closer to whisper. "I'm not supposed to say anything. Pierce wanted to put you with someone he trusted to sort of test you out, make sure you were really ready. Rumlow vouched for your physical abilities, but he wanted to make sure that in a tough spot you'd be able to think your way out too." He pauses for a moment to glance around again. "But hey, bright side, you passed! So we can forget this conversation ever happened." He stands up straighter and casually fixes his jacket as he changed the subject. "Do you smell donuts? I want donuts. Do you want a donut?" He grabs your arm and tugs you along with him. "Let's go get donuts."
You go to the cafeteria, and as Coulson orders himself donuts you decide on a breakfast burrito.
As you sit, you look up to see Coulson has already devoured two donuts.
"Impressive." You laugh, and he looks at you with glaze flakes stuck around his mouth, making you laugh harder.
"What's so funny?" He asks, reaching up to touch his face before he starts laughing too.
"Thanks for telling me earlier." You whisper to him, leaning across the table slightly. He looks at you with a slightly bewildered expression. "I'm no idiot Coulson, I know you let it slip on purpose."
He smiles and gives you a slight nod.
"You know..." You start, leaning back in your chair with a wicked grin. "Steve is coming over tonight to sort of welcome me back. Maybe you could come by?"
Almost choking on a bite of donut, he nods furiously until he can talk. "Yes!! That would be great. Yes yes yes. Please. Yes."
That evening:
You go to unlock your door, but it's already unlocked. You turn to Coulson, who has tagged along excitedly. "Looks like someone's already here."
He can't hold back the giddy smile any longer, he's practically bouncing in his excitement.
You laugh as you open the door. Steve, members from your team, and various others are standing in your apartment yelling surprise.
You turn to Coulson and narrow your eyes at him.
He take a step back and puts his hands up defensively. "Hey, it wasn't me."
"It was my idea." Steve comes up to you and gives you a hug. "Pierce said you passed his last little test, so I thought-" He motions around at the Congratulations sign and various balloons, then shrugs as he starts to blush.
"Thanks Steve." You hug him again. "I love it. Oh! And there's someone I'd like you to meet." You motion to Coulson, who looks like he might faint from pure joy.
"Hi! I'm Phil Coulson, huge fan." They shake hands, but Coulson doesn't let go. "I can't believe I'm finally meeting you. I have all your playing cards." Still shaking his hand. "I can't believe this is real. I'm rambling aren't I? You would tell me if I was randomly wouldn't you? Oh god, I can't shut up." He looks down at his hand still shaking Steve's. "I'm still shaking your hand. I can't quit. Seriously, someone help."
You laugh as Steve drops his hand.
"Always good to meet a fan." Steve smiles at him. "Would you like for me to autograph those cards?"
Coulson just stares at him for a moment in disbelief before shaking himself and digging around in his jacket pockets.
You shake your head, chuckling as Steve signs various things Coulson hands to him. You move to your kitchen and grab a drink as you watch everyone visit amongst themselves. A few guys from your team are hitting on a few girls from the lab, and failing horribly.
You spend the next few hours mingling and receiving various congratulations from everyone before they pile out of your apartment. Coulson thanks you repeatedly for 'completing his life', which makes Steve blush every time.
Steve stays behind to help you clean up, but has to leave soon after.
You find yourself alone in your apartment, staring out your balcony window as you enjoy the light breeze.
You're interrupted by a knocking at your door. Maybe Steve forgot something?
You open the door and see Rumlow. What's even more confusing is he's not wearing combats. You've never actually seen him wear regular clothes, but he's wearing dark jeans and a white t-shirt.
"I missed the party didn't I." He frowns as he looks behind you to your empty apartment.
You smile slightly, torn between being happy to see him and knowing he's just your commander. You stand aside. "Come on in, there's still cake."
He flashes you a small smile as he steps inside your apartment.
You close the door and turn to find him facing you.
"I um.." He scratches the back of his head, then reaches into his back pocket. "I'm not really good at this, so..here." He pulls out a rectangular black box, and holds it out to you.
You look at the box, then glance up to him.
"It's not just a box you know, there's something inside." He holds the box out further for you to take it.
You wrap your fingers around it. Wow. "It's heavy?" You say, slightly confused, but he just grins at you and nods for you to open it.
You slowly remove the lid, and feel your breath catch as you see what's inside. You run your fingertips along the cool metal. First tracing the beautiful swirls and patterns on the hilt, then the length of the blade itself. When closed it was the length of your palm, but the blade was razor sharp and serrated to be deadly.
You look up at Rumlow, and he nods towards the knife. "Flip it over."
You're confused, but you flip it over to see your initials engraved in intricate lettering on the blade.
"You didn't have to." You breathe.
He shrugs and scratches the back of his head.
You tuck the blade in your pocket and wrap your arms around his neck, tightly hugging him. You must have surprised him because it takes him a moment to embrace you in return.
His cologne smells of leather with a hint of pine, it's intoxicating. You reluctantly pull away and attempt to distract yourself. "So how about some cake?"
He nods and follows you to the kitchen. You hand him a plate with a rather large slice and he looks up at you.
You shrug and pout as you point to the three remaining cakes. "There's SO much left. I can't eat it all by myself." You get a second piece, equally large, for yourself and glance at him. "Well...I could, but then I'd get sick."
He laughs and follows you to the balcony.
"How did you score the view?" He asks through a mouth of cake.
You shrug. "All I did was ask if any rooms had a view."
He shakes his head and takes another large bite. You laugh and he smiles back at you, shrugging. "I like cake, alright?"
He helps you tidy up the kitchen, then asks where the restroom is. You point him in the right direction before heading out on the balcony yourself. You lean against the rails and look out towards the water, letting out a breath and smiling to yourself.
You let your hair down and close your eyes to enjoy the breeze. You feel someone watching, and turn to see Rumlow leaned against the door frame. He looks away and scratches the stubble on his jaw.
"I uh..I had better get going." He glances out at the darkening sky. "It's getting pretty late."
You nod and follow to lock the door after him.
He opens the door and turns to face you. "Thanks for the cake." He smiles wraps an arm around your waist to give you a side hug.
You wrap both your arms around his neck, forcing him to fully embrace you. "Thank you for the blade." You squeeze him tight and kiss his cheek before pulling away.
He blushes slightly. Then tries to play it off by clearing his throat and brushing his fingers back through his hair.
"Goodnight Rumlow." You smile, he nods and returns the smile before leaving.
You lock up and sit on your couch, holding the blade he gave you. It really is gorgeous. even if I'm not entirely sure why he gave it to me. You bite your lip and think of how he watched you at the balcony, and of the time you almost kissed. Then you frown. He's my commander. You sigh and lean your head back, closing your eyes. An extremely handsome one though...

Nuestra Familia (RCD MC: Astrid)
Book: Red Carpet Diaries
Rating: G
Pairing: Astrid-centric, minor Seth x Astrid
Summary: Astrid realises she doesn't know her family as well she had thought. Minor crossover with The Freshman/The Sophomore/The Junior.
Author's Note: This is a bit late for MC Appreciation Week, but I figured I'd put it out there anyway. This is my origin story for Astrid Ortega, my second RCD MC, who is involved with Seth. There's a cameo of one character from TF/TS/TJ in the end and I have a feeling you folks have already figured out who it is 😅 I used (of course) the "crossover" prompt from this list for my fic. I'm tagging @choices-mc-rules, in case they would still like to reblog this.
Translations:
Nuestra familia - "our family" in Spanish.
Chanclas - slippers/flip-flops
Tres leches cake - Typically a very moist chiffon cake soaked in a mixture of evaporated milk, condensed milk and heavy cream. Tres leches literally means "three milks".
Abuela - one of the terms used for ‘grandmother’ in Spanish.
Ita - Short for Abuelita, also used for grandmothers. Astrid calls her grandmother the former, her mom Teresa calls her grandmother the latter.
Manda Huevos - Can mean a lot of things according to context, but generally used to express a range of emotions, such as annoyance, disappointment, contempt or disbelief. In this context, Teresa means “it's not fair”.
If I've gotten anything wrong in terms of references, please do tell me, and I'll definitely fix it in the fic.
Tumblr media
“One more foot inside my kitchen and it'll be my chanclas for you later.”
Teresa Ortega said these words to her daughter Astrid, in the same tone one would use to offer a guest some tea.
It wasn't that her mom didn't allow her kids to help with the cooking. She did. Salome was too young to do much but set the table yet but Astrid (and her big sister Letitia, whenever she was home) often pitched in to help with the meal.
But heaven help anyone who tried to help Mom with her tres leches cake.
This recipe was from Mom's Ita’s faded little diary, passed down to her by her mother on the condition that she would learn its recipes off by heart. It was her pride and joy, Mom would often say. Her baby before her actual babies came along.
And today it was even more essential Mom get this cake right. Astrid's abuela was visiting, and ever since Astrid's mother insisted on naming her Astrid (“She’s already named my first and last - at least leave the middle one to me!”) she could do nothing right.
Perhaps it would've been easier to handle if Dad wasn't Abuela's only son, if Mom had someone she could jointly ignore Abuela with, if they had cousins they could play with while the adults sorted out their issues. Or perhaps not. Still, it would have been nice to know.
“Easy, mom, I'm not going to touch your precious cake,” Astrid said, grinning, “Lemme demolish it at lunch instead.”
She'd be lying if she said she wasn't tempted, though. She could get the scent of baked cake wafting in all the way from her bedroom, and her mother was already starting to combine Carnation milk, condensed milk and 1/4th of a cup of heavy cream into a thin, but somewhat creamy, mixture.
Mom raised her eyebrows. “Why are you here, then?”
Astrid felt the muscles around her neck tense up, but schooled her face to a look of injured innocence. “What, can't I just want to talk to my mom once in a while?”
She craned her neck a little further behind Astrid, a tiny frown beginning to form between her brows. “What's that you're holding behind your back?”
Ding! The cake was ready now, just in time for soaking. Astrid let out a sigh of relief. She wanted Mom to see this wedding card, yes - it was why she came to the kitchen in the first place - but now was probably not the time for questions. Questions about family or about secrets. Not when she knew how important it was for her mother to get her weekend cakes right.
“Family” was always a big deal around the Ortega table. Dad was his mother's only child, and Mom’s parents passed on long before any of them were ever born. Her father was as annoyed by Abuela's antics as her mother was, but it never stopped him from having her visit every Sunday because “she's the only family we have left”.
It was as if he needed her to keep himself rooted, as if without her he would be floating aimlessly, no aim or identity, taking his wife and children down that path with him. Abuela knew this. By God, did she know this.
Or so I thought, Astrid said to herself, gripping the wedding card tightly and creating new creases where the word Ortega was written.
Mom was gritting her teeth now, carefully pouring the three-milk mixture over the cake and muttering to herself. “One more word about dry cake this time and I'll give her soggy toast, I swear I will.”
Astrid would have stood up last week and said something to Abuela, if only Mom would let her. It was probably a good thing Leticia wasn't around, she'd fire shots at Abuela for less. She was protective over all of them and often in the heat of the moment she'd forget she’d be landing them all in further trouble.
She was still muttering. “Wants chiffon cake. Screams bloody murder if I use box mix. What, Teresa, looking for shortcuts again?” Mom's voice was raised in an accurately nasal imitation of Abuela's voice. It was almost like she'd forgotten Astrid was there. “Then I make it from scratch like she wants. Then it's Oh Teresa this is so dry oh Teresa it tastes like sawdust. Why else do you think I use box mix, eh? You want it from scratch and you want moist. ¡Manda Huevos!”
The diatribe kept Mom occupied while she finished pouring, so Astrid kept silent. Mom needed this. This wasn't something she can say in front of Letitia (resulting in another Sunday screaming match) or Dad (what would he do?) or Salome (no way would the kid ever take Salome, language! seriously again). Mom needed someone to have her back, no matter how silently or secretly. And that someone had better be her.
“If only Linda had stayed…”
Astrid froze. “What did you say?”
Mom looked up, blinked twice, then stiffened. “Nothing. Nothing.”
Silently, Astrid handed over the card she'd been holding, all this time. She found it while searching for her dad's treasured García Lorca poetry collection, hidden between a page that exalted love and a page that mourned loss.
Mom took it from her, her eyes widening as she read the words.
LINDA ORTEGA
and
DOMINIC SANDOVAL
request the honour of your company at their wedding.
“Dad always told us he was all Abuela has, right,” Astrid said, “The only Ortega for miles around."
Mom answered by busying herself with more activity than ever. Keeping the soaked cake in the fridge. Pouring the remaining milk mixture into two glasses. Washing her hands. Washing the dishes.
“I'll do that for you,” Astrid took a plate from Mom's hands, “Just talk to me.” She grabbed a sponge and dish washing soap, cleaning vigorously. “All this time, Dad's been telling us Abuela's the only family he has, Mom. Like, he has no one else. Like, we have no sisters or brothers besides the three of us. Was he lying?”
“You're wrong,” Mom said, her voice suddenly sounding sharper, harder, “Abuela's the only family he has left. Your father didn't lie.”
“Just omitted the truth, yeah,” Astrid wished she knew how she felt about this. Right now there was so much she was feeling that she didn't exactly know where to begin. “There's no “together with our parents” above their names either. Not like yours’.”
Mom sighed, picked the card up, then held up two glasses of milk-mixture in front of her. “Take one and give the other to your sister. I have a lot of work to do.”
On any other day, Astrid would have grabbed that glass and relished its creaminess, wiping the milk-moustache off her mouth with a flourish. But today no amount of sweetness was going to take away that weird metallic taste in the roof of her mouth.
“I'm not done asking about this,” Astrid said, scowling, “to you or to Dad. If I have aunts and cousins out there, that's something I wanna know.”
Astrid did try in the weeks to come. But she never saw the wedding card again, and neither Mom or Dad ever responded when she raised the topic again. Still. It felt nice to dream.
Every time Abuela made a snide remark at lunch, she imagined her cousins there. A snarky younger girl who’d make smartass comments. A strong boy her age who’d shut Abuela up with just a glare. A nice aunt who’d take Mom's mind off all this nonsense. It didn't help much, but it felt nice.
It felt nice knowing she had company out there. Somewhere.

6 years later.
“Donuts, Iowa?” Seth’s eyes were gleaming at the prospect. He was more a bag-of-chips kinda guy most days, but he also liked having massive sugar rushes before a comedy gig.
“As long as the insides of six of those are practically spilling over with fruit jam, I'm game,” she said, standing on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek. It felt exhilarating, freeing. She hadn't felt this normal in a while - normal enough to kiss her boyfriend without worrying about paparazzo jumping out from a bush. There was a guy in a leather jacket she didn't recognize - three blocks across - looking at her like he wanted to talk, but not in a way that made her feel unsafe.
That was the nice thing about Northbridge. People looked, sure, but they were less likely to make you feel like an exhibit from a zoo.
“Wait here, yeah?” Seth said, planting a kiss on the lips instead, “I'll be back before you can finish spelling “OHIO” with your arms.”
Astrid laughed. Seth said the most Ohio things sometimes. Neither of them had had this much fun since she was offered a lead role in Tender Nothings, which was why Seth always jumped at a chance to take up gigs in Northbridge, and why he always offered to take Astrid along when she was free.
The guy from before stepped forward a few minutes after Seth entered the donut shop. The summer heat must have been too much for him - his leather jacket was now slung over his shoulders. “Um, hello. Astrid Ortega?”
He stood with his hands in his pockets, mouth pursed into a thin line, a tiny curl slipping carelessly from his hair and resting on his forehead. She caught a peek at the tail end of a bird tattoo (Owl? The tail looked pointy) on his left arm.
“Yeah,” Astrid said, wondering whether it was her or Seth he wanted to talk to, “but I don't know what your name is.”
“ Zigmund. Zig for short,” he replied, looking behind him from time to time, “My sister Lucy’s a big fan. Asked me to help her get an autograph from you.”
“Is she here?”
“Yeah. But she doesn't want to come out. She's shy.”
Ah. So that was the cherry-red blur barely hidden by that building. She learned long ago that no matter how friendly you appeared, your image would precede you and intimidate people anyway. Autographs were great, but somehow she didn't want to stop at just that.
“Would she come out now if I asked?” she gave him her sunniest smile, “Tell her I won't bite.”
Zig hesitated, then nodded. Astrid watched him walk to the other building, move his hands expressively as he tried to convince his sister to join him (from that angle he almost looks like Letitia, Astrid thought), and return with a curly-haired, starry-eyed teenage girl.
“H-hey,” she said, then blushed, clearly embarrassed by her nervousness. Silently, she hands over her autograph book. She keeps her eyes studiously away from Astrid's face. “I, um, I like mystery films, and I really, really liked Tender Nothings.”
A girl after my own heart. “Maybe you'll like Sunset Boulevard, then,” she said, smiling.
Astrid could have just signed and left it at that, but there was something about these two. Something about the way they stood together, or exchanged glances, or something, that reminded her of home. Which was silly. But it didn’t change the fact that she wanted to leave a good impression on them.
“What would you like to be when you grow up, Lucy?”
Lucy didn't miss a beat. “Ballet dancer. Like my brother.”
Astrid smiled, particularly at the look the girl gave Zig. Yes, she could see on second glance that even though some people would say he didn't have the body of a dancer, he held himself with a certain grace, a certain lightness that belied a stronger core. Hit by a sudden rush of inspiration, she quickly scribbled a little note to go with her signature, and asked Lucy to read it.
To Lucy and Zig, future (hopefully!) best ballet dancing duo in America. Be sure to save me a seat when you folks get famous. Love Always, Astrid.
“Wowwww,” Lucy whispered. Zig suppressed his smile, trying not to let how he felt show, and failed. A corner of his mouth lifted upwards, revealing an almost-invisible dimple.
The two left before Seth brought his box of donuts, but they thanked her at least thrice as they walked away.
“Wait till I tell Mom about this,” Astrid overheard Lucy tell her brother as they left, “I told you she'd be really, really nice.”
“You did,” there was a note of indulgence in Zig's voice.
"Ortegas all around the world. Wherever we're from, we're nice.”
Had Seth come out a moment later, Astrid would have probably walked up to them and asked. Perhaps asked them where they were from and their parents’ names.
But Seth was here, with donuts, and there was never a moment she could take her eyes off either.
“Do you know those two?” Seth asked her, passing her a tres leches cake donut that was claimed to be one of their best, “They looked familiar.”
“”No,” Astrid replied, closing her eyes in bliss. Mmmm. The treat was taking her back to Des Moines, back to home, back to her mother's little kitchen. “But I wouldn't mind meeting them again.”

Kujou Tenn: Wonderful Octave Rabbit Chat Part 3
100: Sorry everyone! Momo-chan has revived ☆(>ω・)v
Tsumugi: Thank you for contacting me! Is your phone okay..?
100: It’s fine! It seems it became a little slow because I took too many pictures. I have to get a new one soon huh~!
9: What did you take pictures of?
100: Yuki! He was pretending to give fanservice!
9: Pretending to give fanservice…?
100: Earlier, we were doing requests for Tenn right? So we were playing around with “Do bunny ears” or “Do a wink” and such. lol
100: There were too many moments to take pictures, so I couldn’t stop~!
100: Just Yuki being alive is fanservice!
2: You were taking picture while rabbit chatting? (lol)
8: You are skilled!
7: As expected of Momo-san!
1000: I took a lot of pictures of Momo too.
1000: “Do a staring contest” was the cutest so I’ll send it later.
3: As expected of Re:vale lolololol
Okazaki: I’m really sorry it took so much time…
100: Sorry~ \’’(´∀‵)
T: No, no! The log was also becoming long so I’m glad everyone could take a break!
T: So then, let’s continue with the requests. From Mitsuki-san please!
3: Got it! From me it’s “Tell me your everyday habits”!
3: It’s a little similar to Sougo’s request though. I thought I wanted to hear about your private life!
9: It often gets changed by jobs, but I try to lead a regular life as often as I can.
9: Like waking up at the same time no matter how late I go to bed.
3: Oooh, as expected of Kujou! You are stoic after all huh!
8: Even though you wake up early, you’re a little half-asleep tho (lol)
10: Like you were surprised when you brushed your teeth with face wash before!
9: Aren’t you mixing me up with Gaku?
10: Huh! Was it?!
8: It wasn’t me!
9: [Spoons Pudding Stamp]
1: I wake up before my alarm goes off.
4: Iorin, you smug
7: Iori, you’re always competing with Tenn-nii!
1: What are you talking about?
2: Who even decided we have to get up in the morning. I want to stay in bed forever-.
6: I want to be praised just for waking up.
T: Being able to wake up with only one alarm is an amazing thing..!
T: So then, next is Yamato-san please!
2: From my request, “Please tell me your recommended play if you have”.
2: Sorry, it’s a serious thing. (lol)
9: Heeeh, unexpected. That the request from Nikaido Yamato is the most serious.
3: Because Yamato-san is serious basically.
1000: He’s just twisted
1000: Like a twist donut.
7: What Tenn-nii likes!
7: [Sparkling Kinako Stamp]
2: All outsiders please be quieeeet.
10: Seems like Tenn studied abroad, he could have lots of opportunities to see musicals overseas!
9: So you are interested in plays, not only movies huh?
9: I’ve watched many things from grand musicals to small theatre. Since there are too many good ones, I can’t choose which one’s the best.
2: I don’t mind how many you tell me; it’s more like I’d be grateful if you could teach me a lot.
2: It’s like just my hobby. And I’m also interested in what Kujou likes.
9: What I like?
2: Yeah yeah. I like Kujo’s acting. When you are standing onstage, it’s showy.
9: You’re really straight-forward today huh.
2: I’m always honest tho?
9: I also like your acting. I respect you.
9: I’ll think about what stage Nikaido Yamato would like. I have to be a little serious about this.
T: I definitely want Kujou-san to tell me his seriously recommended play too!
T: Next is the request from Yaotome-san please!
8: From me it’s “How do you want your birthday to be celebrated.”
8: Because it’s almost Tenn’s birthday.
8: Even if I say we should do something because it’s only once a year, he won’t join in.
10: I’m also looking forward to celebrating Tenn’s birthday!
9: What do you think my radio is...
9: First of all, I’m not of an age for being happy about my birthday.
7: Eh! I’m super happy tho?!
4: I’m also suuuuuuuuuper hyped!
100: Me too! (δ≧∀≦)δ
Okazaki: Actually, I’m also a little happy.
10000: I’ll buy cake and such for it.
Anesagi: Should I give you my birthday?
9: Gaku is pushy.
9: But I’ll accept those feelings of wanting to go that far to celebrate me.
8: It’s fine with anything you want to try or what you want to eat.
10: I want to celebrate Tenn’s birthday with all our might! Like what we did before, “KJO main month”...
8: Thoroughly spoiling him huh. It’s been a long time huh.
10: Even if Tenn doesn’t give us a request, we’ll still make it the best birthday! lol
9: You’re really too pushy.
9: TRIGGER isn’t a group to have a cozy relationship right.
3: What are you saying now! TRIGGER is super friendly together tho lol
6: We love our members. Everyone is HAPPY!
T: It seems Kujou-san’s birthday will become a wonderful day!
T: So then, next is Tsunashi-san please!
10: From me it’s “Please tell us the parts you like about TRIGGER”!
10: I thought a lot about what I wanted to ask Tenn or what I wanted Tenn to do but… I thought a simple request would be the best.
10: I totally know that Tenn treasures TRIGGER though!
10: So then, I wanted to hear in words what kinds of things you like about us.
9: That’s a nice request where we can tell the fans about our group’s bond. I can answer with countless things.
10: Thanks! I’m looking forward to it!
1000: TRIGGER really is friendly huh.
100: Both Gaku and Ryuu’s request are straightforward; they love Tenn~!
9: Those words are what Re:vale-san says huh.
8: I think it’s true that our requests are straightforward.
10: I wonder if the members of the group think the same things like a family does! lol
9: It’s not the same tho.
8: That’s not the same isn’t it?
4: You answered the same way tho!
1: They are exactly like that.
T: Tsunashi-san, thank you for the wonderful request that we can see their group-love!
T: To continue, how about we hear a request from Momo-san?
100: OKAY!
100: From me it’s, “Can you guess? Tasting donut quiz!” (ノ・∀・)ノ◎◎◎
100: Sorry to change the atmosphere completely! lololol
9: A quiz about taste testing donuts? That’s the first time I’ve heard of that.
100: Because it’s a quiz I thought up!
7: Maybe, like guessing the flavor of some doughnuts like chocolate or red bean?!
5: If it’s a taste, then it seems he could understand even blindfolded tho...
100: NON NON! That’s thinking too easily!
100: Momo-chan’s tasting donut quiz is about guessing “who made” the donuts, not the flavor~!
100: By the way, I’m planning to have Gaku and Ryuu help me as chefs!
10: Is that so?! I’ll have to try hard..!
8: I’m not good at making sweets tho (lol)
100: It’s fine! When I cook occasionally, people comment that I’m wild★
9: I’ll be eating those wild donuts?
100: Look forward to it! I’m not that confident in the appearance but they’ll taste good!
100: Is what it seems like!
1000: It’s just what it seems like huh.
100: (・ω<)
9: [Sitting Pudding Stamp]
100: Actually, I thought it might be bad to ask Gaku and Ryuu to make donuts. Because I don’t know if you’ll pick my request and all.
100: But even if you don’t pick it, it’ll be OK as a birthday present right!
3: Is that okay to enter without being asked?
100: Of course! WELCOME!
3: Yay! Then, I’ll participate too!
4: How ‘bout the person in charge of eating them?
100: That’s for next time lol.
4: [Pouting Kinako Stamp]
3: I’ll make some for Tamaki too. Lol As a representative of IDOLiSH7, I’ll fire myself up to make the doughnuts!
9: I welcome Izumi Mitsuki’s participation.
10: Then, maybe I should make it with Gaku? Let’s do TRIGGER donuts!
8: Now I feel like we can win.
9: Who the hell would you win against..?
T: I’m looking forward to everyone’s masterpiece doughnuts!
T: So then, last is the request from Yuki-san!
1000: Yeah. For me it’s “Please tell me a smell you like.”
1000: Because Tenn-kun always smell nice when you pass by.
1000: I wanted to try asking if there was anything particular.
5: Kujou-san has a natural, fresh scent.
4: He smells like a soap
9: Maybe that’s a musk-scent. I like that it has a natural scent, I use it often.
9: Because I use moisturizing cream after the bath, so maybe that’s the smell.
1000: Heeh. Which one are you using?
9: I’ll send you a URL later.
7: Yes! Yes! Tenn-nii, teach me too!
9: Riku is also interested?
9: But, if Riku uses it, wouldn’t we have the same smell.
9: And on top of that, things with smells are bad for your body.
7: I can’t use the same one?!
9: Not can’t but
8: Really, wouldn’t it be too embarrassing for Nanase to have the same smell? (lol)
3: Ahh… I might understand a little.. It would feel embarrassing if brothers have something that’s the same, you know lol
1: I’m fine with it.
7: I’m fine too! Oppositely, I’m happy!
9: I’ll send you the URL but get something without a smell.
7: [Smiling Kinako Stamp]
T: Many fans would be curious about Kujo-san’s favorite smell!
T: With this, we collected all the requests. Everyone, thank you for your participation!
7: Our requests being over means that next it’s Tenn-nii’s turn!!
7: [Excited Kinako Stamp]
10: If there’s something you want us to do, say anything.
*T: Do you have a request for us?
9: I don’t have one in particular. If I say it, please be careful with heat and caring about your health. Also be careful with dust.
9: I did give some sort of request but, actually, I don’t wish for anything more than this.
9: For being the the strength beside me, I’m grateful from the bottom of my heart. Thank you.
100: Geeeez! Tenn really won’t say anything selfish! つД‵)・゜・。・゜゜・*:.。
2: You could say something you want. Even though I don’t know if I'm gonna give it to you. (lol)
7: Least, let me say happy birthday a lot!
7: Tenn-nii, happy birthday! Let’s work hard on this month’s radio! I love you!
100: (*・艸・)。+:*◯HAPPY BIRTHDAY TENN+:*◯
5: Happy Birthday. I wish Kujo-san andTRIGGER the best of luck.
10000: Happy Birthday!
3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kujou! Expect a lot from the donuts!
4: Tenntenn, HBD----!!!
2: Congrats. Work hard on the radio.
1: Happy Birthday.
1000: Happy birthday. It’ll surely become a good year.
Okazaki: Happy Birthday. Please take care of Re:vale from now on too.
6: HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Please pull my request okay?
Anesagi: Happy birthday. You’re about to become an adult huh. I’m looking forward to the Kujou Tenn from now on.
T: Kujou-san, Happy Birthday!
9: Thank you for the celebration.
9: I received everyone’s requests with gratitude. I’ll make it a fun radio, so please listen to it.
10: From us, let us say congratulations to you on that day okay.
8: Think about what you want to do on your birthday.
9: If I pull your request, I’ll think about it.
V2:
10: If there’s something you want us to do, say anything.
T: Do you have a request for TRIGGER-san?
9: Please stand on the same stage. That’s my only wish.
9: I did give some sort of request but, actually, I don’t wish for anything more than this.
V3:
10: If there’s something you want us to do, say anything.
T: Do you have a request for Re:vale-san?

ASSASSIN'S CREED HIGH SCHOOL - CH2
“Check out that one!” Kadar had been kind enough to show you around the Island, excitedly pointing out all of his favourite places. The two of you currently stood outside a small bakery, perusing the colourful assortments of cakes and breads. The two of you had your faces pressed up against the window, the heavenly scent hanging in the air being enough to create oceans of drool on the pavement beneath your feet. “I remember this place,” you said with a small smile, thinking back to when you had first visited the island. You were a few dollars short of being able to actually buy anything, so you wound up ‘accidentally’ taking a single donut. It tasted delicious, but unfortunately the guilt became too much that said donut ended up as a regurgitated puddle of yuck on the road. Needless to say, you’ve never looked at a donut the same way again. An imprint of Kadar’s face stood out on the polished glass as he peeled his face off the window, eyes glimmering excitedly as he looked at you. “Wait here!” He slipped inside the bakery, not giving you a chance to question his intentions. Your (colour) eyes trailed after his bouncing form, brow raising as he pointed in your direction whilst speaking to the clerk. “Shove that thing in my face once more and I swear, I will smash it!” That statement was said with such vehemence that your head automatically snapped in the direction of where it came from. Two people, male and female, walked side-by-side on the sidewalk, heading in your direction. The females’ freckled nose crinkled in agitation as a phone was waved continuously in her face. “But look at it, Evie!” The male grinned, eyes shining with awe as he tapped the screen of his phone. “When have you ever seen a cat do something like that?!” ‘Evie’ sighed and closed her eyes at his stupidity. “I am so sick and tired of seeing those stupid cat videos! I swear, sometimes I wish you would spend your time looking at porn like normal guys, rather than this rubbish.” The male looked rather offended as he cradled his phone against his chest. “Stupid?! How could you even think of using that word when describing this cat?! It can play the piano! That’s more than you can do.” He smirks, flicking her forehead. Evie looked momentarily stunned at the unexpected attack before swiftly glowering and slapping his hand down. “Keep those vile hands of yours to yourself, Jacob.” “Why? Do they bother you?” Jacob waves a hand in her face, threatening to touch her. The muscles in her jaw tightened, her eyes narrowing. “Everything you do bothers me. Now remove your hand else I’ll remove it for you.” “Ooh, touchy. Not PMS’ing again are we, dear sister?” He taunts, clicking his tongue disapprovingly. “What would old Greenie think of he were here to hear such violent threats spewing from your lips?” A light giggle falls from your lips as you listen to their exchange. There are certainly some interesting people on this Island. As they pass, Jacob catches your eye, an interested smirk growing on his lips as he notices you unabashedly staring. Biting your bottom lip, your eyes trailed after him, twinkling not only embarrassment, but in amusement as he gives you an interested over the shoulder glance, when he should have been keeping his attention focused on the path ahead.  “Look out!” You call to him hurriedly, but at a moment too late.  You flinch, feeling the pain as he collides with an iron lamp post that seems to have miraculously materialised from thin air. The unexpectedness of the collision caused him to fall backwards onto the sidewalk like a middle-aged drunk after a night of pub crawling. There is an awkward pause, the scene taking a moment to register, before Evie bursts into a cascade of unfeminine guffaws. “Smooth Jacob,” she snorts, bending forward and resting her hands atop her knees. “Real smooth.” “Sh—shut your face, Evie!” Jacob stutters out, mentally cursing himself for making a fool of himself. There was nothing you found funny as you rushed to his side, just as he was pulling himself to his feet. “Are you alright?”  He tugs the bottom of his coat, smoothing out any wrinkles, and smiles. “ Of course. I did it on purpose, you know.” Huh? On purpose? “What would make you do something like that?” His head tilted adorably to one side, shoulders raising in nonchalance. “I wanted you to notice me.” If it weren’t for the rolling of Evie’s eyes, you would have sworn he had been joking. “I...you, what?” A nervous chuckle fumbles awkwardly from your lips, not accustomed to having anyone say something as bold as that. Jacob’s smile widened, taking great pleasure at the sight of a lovely shade of pink blooming across your cheeks. Wetting your lips with your tongue, you had to ask Evie, “Is he serious?” The beautiful brunette crossed her arms with a sigh, “Unfortunately, yes. He was dropped on the head as a child, you see, and sadly it has caused his mouth to run faster then that microscopic speck in his head he calls a brain.” A strained, somewhat embarrassed, laugh forced its way past Jacob’s lips while slinging an arm across his twins shoulders, “There she goes again, making those funny jokes of hers. You really crack me up, sister dearest.” “I do try, sweet brother,” Evie responded with smile that could melt butter.  Shifting your weight from one foot to the other, (colour) eyes flicked uneasily between the twins, “I’m (Y/N), by the way.” You told them, breaking the uncomfortable stare down the two currently involved themselves with. “I’m Evie Frye-“ She gestured to herself, then to her twin. “-and this is my brother, Jacob. You’re new to the Island, right?” “Right,” You offer them both the tiniest of smiles, “I only arrived yesterday.” “That explains it then,” Jacob said, the beginnings of a flirtatious smile making an appearance. With the slightest of head tilts, you ask, “Explains, what?” “Why I don’t remember seeing you around. With looks like yours, you’d be impossible to forget.” There were no words. Blushing even more, only stutters seemed to find it easy in escaping your lips. Luckily though, the chiming of a delicate bell broke the awkwardness of the situation, an excited Kadar hopping to your rescue. His childish smile expanded into a grin while bright blue eyes switched between the Frye twins. “Hiya~” Evie offered a polite smile in greeting, unlike Jacob who appeared more interested in the pale pink box held tightly between Kadar’s hands. “What’s in the box, mate?” Kadar pulled the box away with lightening speed once the tips of Jacob’s fingers made the briefest of contact. In a way, Kadar sort of reminded you of Gollum from those Lord of the Rings films; all you were expecting to hear now was a hissed ‘my precious’ to complement the possessive glint in those baby blue eyes. Visibly shaking himself free of an aura of confusion, Jacob turned his attention back to you, smiling. “Can I borrow your phone for a sec?” “Uh...,” Your focus dropped to his outstretched hand, fingers wriggling, urging you to hand over your phone. Evie and Kadar both watched, completely silent, the intensity of their stare only adding to the pressure you were already under. “Sure, I guess,” you said, unaware that it had already been handed over, Jacob currently scrolling through, fingers tapping rapidly on the screen. “There you are, love.” That grin on his face only seemed to transform into an even sexier one as he handed the phone back. Wait, did you just admit to him having a sexy smile? That collision with Kadar earlier must have seriously knocked your brain about. “My number’s in there now, so send me a text sometime.” Was that jealousy flashing across Kadar’s innocent features? Shaking your head, you silently rebuked yourself. Why would he be jealous over someone he only met? “Um, thanks, Jacob.” He simply nods and grins, stuffing both hands back into the pockets of his coat. Why was he wearing a coat in weather like this? Is he not warm? “Well we best be off.” His voice snapped you out of your random thoughts and you blinked, staring up at him. “See you around, Miss (Y/N).” And with that, both twins continued down the sidewalk, resuming their earlier bickering. Kadar stared after them, or more specifically, Jacob, then allowed his gaze to drop to the phone still sitting in your hand. Refocusing your attention back on the adorable Levantine by your side, a smile grazed your lips, making his own smile grow. “I have something for you.” “For me?” With the slightest of head tilts, your (colour) eyes widened a fraction in surprise as the pink box was handed over. “You didn’t need to buy me anything,” You said quietly, feeling rather embarrassed by the intensity of Kadar’s stare as he urged you to open the box. Well, here goes nothing. Flipping the lid back, a quiet ‘oh’ left your lips, a light blush tickling your cheeks at seeing the contents of the box. “I...wow, thanks, Kadar. This is awesome.” Such a positive response had him bouncing happily on the balls of his feet, his dark blush accompanied by a widening grin and sparkling eyes. “I’m glad you like it, (Y/N). When I spotted it in there it just, I dunno, it reminded me of you for some reason.” You smiled brightly, admiring what he had bought you. A delicious looking cupcake sat neatly in the box, with bright pink icing and little flowers made from blue frosting.  If Kadar wasn’t standing there right now, you wouldn’t have had the same level of restraint and the cupcake would now be gone. “I’m meeting a few friends down on the beach. You’re still coming, right?” The hopeful look on his face was simply to much, making it impossible to decline his offer. “Of course.” You smiled, Kadar having already taken your hand in his. “Let’s get going.”

People Are Sharing Small Changes They Made That Helped Them Lose Weight (47 Tips)
Tumblr media
45 million Americans go on a diet every year. Moreover, Americans spend $33 billion each year on weight-loss products. The numbers are staggering, having in mind that two thirds of society are now classified as overweight and obese. So where did it go wrong?
Well, humans tend to overthink and end up trying too much. From counting calories to judging ourselves for a piece of cheesecake, some lose the simple joys of life, while others get fed up with their diet just not working.
But what if weight loss, like any other journey in the world, starts from some simple little steps? What if one or two basic changes in our lifestyle are all it takes to find the balance we crave? To find out, we looked at the little weight loss tips shared by people who genuinely claim they really worked. And no, you don’t need to give up on pizza any time soon.
#1
Make your couch a no-eating zone. I found that when I sat in my overused, sunken-in spot in the couch with food, it turned into a mindless binge-fest. Sitting at a table or kitchen bar with a plate and silverware made me more mindful and present when I ate, which in turn helped me to listen to my satiety cues and stop eating when I was full. Lost over 100 pounds in a little over a year.

Just doing something in the gym everyday is better than nothing.
This advice helped me so much. It really reinforces that this is a lifestyle change by forcing you to just go be active everyday. It also helps just in the sense its objectively true doing 10-15 minutes on the treadmill is better than nothing if you really arent motivated at all. The biggest way it helps though is on the days you are unmotivated, once you start you will often just do your full workout.

Don’t try to ignore your cravings — just find healthier ways to satisfy them. I will never be the girl who says no to pizza or bread. Embracing it and not hating myself for it was the first step. Then I was able to find ways to satisfy those needs in a better way. For example, Cauliflower pizza crust pretty much satisfies my need for pizza. (I know, it doesn’t sound believable but it’s true!)

In the past few years, there has been a surge in what’s called the mindful eating trend, which is all about staying present in the moment and enjoying it. This approach gained popularity because it doesn’t focus on restriction, but instead aims at changing our relationship with food.
Mindful eating is opposed to mindless eating, which is all too common these days. The latter refers to eating past fullness, eating out of boredom, emotional eating, eating and multitasking, and eating to gain comfort and soothe yourself. Conversely, mindful eating refers to eating when your body tells you to, enjoying eating, thinking about where food comes from, listening to your body, and stopping when you feel like it.

Give up delivery and start preparing your own meals instead.

Stop weighing yourself as a means of measuring your progress. For a while I was focused on making my weight number constantly decrease. When I stopped looking at that and just focused on being healthy — eating right, fruits and veggies for snacks, exercising — that was when I started losing weight and feeling better!
Tumblr media
#6
Swap “boredom eating” with other mindless (or productive) tasks. [I stopped] snacking when I was bored, became more aware of what I was doing, and I soon realized I wasn’t actually hungry. I was just restless and wanted something to do while I relaxed. So I replaced snacking with painting my nails. It’s also become kind of a fun thing I do for myself. When I’m at the store and trying to make healthy decisions, I will reward myself with a new color. Essie has become my preferred reward, as opposed to a ‘cheat meal’!
Tumblr media
You can practice being more mindful in the way you eat simply by slowing down and concentrating on your plate. Let yourself be immersed in flavors, textures, tastes, and smells. Think of how the bite melts into your mouth and what kind of nutritional value you get from it.
Also, you need to learn to trust your body. Our bodies are smart mechanisms that can signal both hunger and fullness, except we sometimes prefer not to listen to them. In reality, when the mind tells you to grab another piece of cake, you may ask your body if it really wants one. You may be surprised by the answer.
#7
Skip escalators and elevators. I took the stairs EVERYWHERE! I worked on the sixth floor when I started this endeavor. I had to start getting to work earlier than normal just to make sure I’d make it up in time without being disgustingly sweaty. I lost 40 pounds in the first eight months and now I’m running half marathons multiple times per year!

Cut down on sugar. “Trying to eat healthier foods” is good to do, but it’s also vague. For example, I’ve seen people go on strict low-carb diets and drink insane amounts of Gatorade. There are tons of things you wouldn’t expect to have a lot of sugar in them, too- it’s not always the obvious stuff like cookies.

Ditch the soda, seriously. I decided to give up soda for Lent since I had one almost every day at lunch. After the first two weeks I lost 10 pounds! When it was over I honestly didn’t even crave it all at anymore. That was years ago and now the taste of soda is always too much sweetness in a drink for me.
Tumblr media
#11
There are no bad vs good foods.
Try to eat a balanced diet of fruits and vegetables, but if you want a donut and it fits into your daily caloric intake, eat the fucking donut. Don’t demonize food. Learn about nutrition, drink plenty of water, and exercise.

Ditch friends who sabotage you or try to keep you from progressing on your goal. If you’re 180 pounds of fat and they say you’re getting too skinny they’re not trying to help you.

#13
Buy smaller plates.
I don’t hear this one too often, but it’s basically an aide to the common “Eat smaller portions” advice. Willing yourself to eat smaller portions can be difficult, but a smaller plate can look full with less food on it, and that can have a very real psychological effect. You still get that “I cleaned my whole plate” satisfaction, but you’ve eaten less to get it.

Patience. Losing weight (especially a significant amount of weight) takes a considerable amount of time.
I lost 60 pounds, but it took upwards of 16 months of constant work. It was a shade under a pound a week.

Stop forcing yourself to go to the gym if you hate it, and find an exercise you actually enjoy. I gave up trying to enjoy the gym and found things I actually like doing! What a difference! I’ve lost 30 pounds simply by finding exercise I enjoy, such as hiking, biking, yoga, swimming, snowshoeing, and kayaking, among other things. Now I crave exercise and can’t wait for my next workout session, because nothing feels like a workout anymore!

Start taking your coffee black. Started drinking black coffee instead of having it with cream and sugar or the flavored creamers.

Full disclosure, am still fat (currently 301 pounds), but I have lost 50 pounds since my highest weight and am working on the remainder. Here is what is working for me: 1.) Track everything. Get an app, or a journal. Write down everything that goes in your mouth. You don’t need to track calories at first if you’re not used to it. Just write down what you eat. Be honest, don’t cheat. 2.) Learn your triggers. What makes you eat? Is it normal hunger? Did you have a bad day at work? Did you fight with your SO? Are you “treating” yourself because you accomplished something? 3.) Redirect yourself. Don’t be idle. If you sit in front of the TV and snack, start cross-stitching, knitting, paint-by-number, F**KING SOMETHING that gets you occupied while sitting and watching the latest mind-numbing crime drama. 4.) Make a plan. Meal plan for a week, or be ambitious and do a whole month. Plan what you’re going to eat for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Make a grocery list. ALWAYS GO GROCERY SHOPPING WITH A LIST. Never have to ask yourself “oh what’s for dinner? what do we have anyway? am i going to have to buy x ingredient? f**k it, I’ll just order a pizza”. Include eating out in your meal plan. 5.) Move a little. You don’t have to run a marathon. Just move more. Walk further. Do yoga in the morning. Just something to remind your body that it has a purpose. All I do is yoga in the morning and walk to and from the bus stop. 6.) Start small. Don’t make a goal to lose 100 pounds. Make a goal to lose 5 pounds. That’s a bag of potatoes. Those are huge and heavy! 5 pounds is a huge accomplishment. I never set a goal for myself except to lose 5 pounds at a time. Lose 5 pounds, drop one pants size, walk around the block without stopping, jog for 90 seconds. These are tiny goals that when added to incrementally make a HUGE DIFFERENCE. 7.) Ignore everyone else. Don’t buy some junk your Aunt Marcy promises will cleanse your colon. Don’t let your coworkers tell you “oh you look so good you don’t need to lose weight”. Don’t let your family say “but grandma made this chocolate cake just for you”. THIS STEP DOES NOT APPLY TO MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS SUCH AS A DOCTOR OR CERTIFIED NUTRITIONIST. The world wants to sabotage you. Listen to people that you pay money to to take care of you. 8.) Forgive yourself. This is the most important step. Love yourself as you are now. You are beautiful. You are loved. You are important. You are a human being. You will move forward but you will have bad days. You will struggle and you will hate yourself for making a bad choice. You will fall down sometimes. But life is a series of failures and lessons. Life is a long journey and weight loss is a lifestyle change, a transformation, and those don’t happen quickly. It will take longer than you think it will. And that’s OKAY. You are doing your best and you will reap the rewards SOMEDAY. Don’t be in a hurry. Enjoy the journey.

unless you’re Chris Traeger you’re gonna f**k up. it took me two years of trying to get the momentum I needed to lose 110 pounds. I’ve got 50 to go and I’ve lost that momentum and it’s taken me a few months to get back in the swing of it. [Messing] up is a part of progress and progress isn’t linear.

The 70% rule
Eat 70% of the meal. Take a break and talk for a while drink some water and enjoy the moment for a bit. You’ll find that the majority of the time the food will settle in your stomach and you won’t be hungry anymore.
Edit: many are saying it’s a waste of food but I never said that. Get a to-go box and take it home.

Remove the sugar. Once you do that, it’s stupid easy. It’s not a secret, but it’s rare for people to really do it. We all scramble around trying to find a trick to avoid doing just that. Lost 60lb and kept them off. For the past year and a half I’ve been eating less than 10 grams of added sugar per day, no exceptions. After the first 2 weeks, it gets pretty easy. After about 2 months, the idea of eating sugary [crap] feels pretty repulsive. After a year, it’s a no-brainer.

It’s a lifestyle change. It’s not something you can do for a while and then be done with it. You need to continue to eat mindfully and exercise in order to maintain your weight once you’ve lost the excess.

Walking. It’s so underrated. Anyone can do it, can be done anywhere and it’s free.
What I’ve been doing is leaving early for my bus to work and walking 30 mins along the route before catching my bus. On the way home I’ll get off early and walk 30 mins home again. Adds an hour of walking a day with very little disruption to my daily routine. That plus eating better and I’ve lost a stone in about 5/6 weeks

Meal Prepping. You would be surprised how much control you give yourself over your calories when you plan ahead. It also saves a lot of time and money.

Don’t look in the mirror. This was sophomore year of college and my roommate didn’t have a full-length mirror to hang in our room, and neither did I. Without it, I discovered that I could mark my progress based on how I felt rather than how I looked. This was great because it prevented me from being discouraged when I didn’t see results right away. Looking back on it now, not having the opportunity to constantly glance at my reflection actually played a pretty key role in my success. I ended up losing around 40 pounds total.

Treat yourself really well. Be easy and gentle with your thoughts, then the decision to eat healthful foods will be easier to sustain.
Tumblr media
#28
Make sure you’re actually drinking enough water. I realized I was terrible at it and it’s so stupid. I bought some 32-ounce bottles and put labels on them, so I have to drink 8 ounces by certain time points, fill up the bottle and do it again to get 64 ounces in a day. I feel a lot better and have an easier time exercising now that I’m not chronically dehydrated.
Tumblr media
#29
Quit fad diets for good. I had lost weight before on really restrictive diets like the Dukan diet and then just gained it all back as soon as I was allowed my regular foods again. By deciding to quit the fad diets and eating smaller portions and mostly unprocessed foods, I found it was a whole lot easier to lose weight, I felt much healthier and the weight stayed off!

#30
Replace “I wish” with “I will.” I used to always say, ‘I wish I looked like that.’ Or I would look at people on Instagram who had lost 100 pounds and I would think, I wish I could do that. And then finally it just hit me. Stop wishing for it and just do it. Replacing ‘I wish’ with ‘I will’ has helped me make actual goals that I am on the way to achieving. I have been working out six days a week and watching what I eat for over a month now and I have lost over 20 pounds. I am so excited to see where I WILL be in a year!

Chew flavored gum to keep your mouth busy and overcome eating addiction. It’s so much easier to quit chewing gum I find.

Do simple exercises like push-ups and sit-ups every night. Start out with low numbers and by the end you’ll be able to do 100+ push-ups a day. It’s just involves making it a part of your routine.
#33
Realizing that you CAN actually control your body weight. You are in the driver seat. Eat 2000 calories but burn 2500 calories a day? You WILL lose weight.
There is no secret to losing weight. End of the day it’s Cals in vs Cals out. The control and results are addicting.

#34
Stop buying your go-to unhealthy snacks so you’re not even tempted. The only snack food I keep in the house now is cottage cheese, Triscuit crackers, fruit, hummus, English muffins, and veggies.
#35
I think a lot of people go into dieting with a mentality of “I’m going to diet constantly until I hit my goal weight” and either end up stopping along the way or putting the weight back on within a year or two of reaching their goal. What I have found that helped me was stopping my diet every 3-4 weeks and having a period just trying to maintain that particular weight before I start up again on my diet. It has helped me keep things under control and it’s nice to have a little break from a diet every once in awhile.

Be prepared for the psychological barriers you will face if you are dieting. People will pressure you to eat badly all the time without really realizing it – when you go over to your parents’ for Thanksgiving, when your co-workers go out for drinks and wings after work, when your partner wants to go out to eat and celebrate something, when you go over to a friends’ house for a dinner party.
People think they are being nice to you when they say that one piece of cake or big meal won’t kill you and you should just go for it. In other circumstances, they just won’t realize that are making you feel like a diva or a wet blanket when you don’t eat what they clearly want you to. You have to be prepared for these curveballs or they can undo everything.
Most diets are designed for you to be able to construct your meals basically from scratch at home, or consume something prepackaged. But for many people their lifestyle and social life just can’t accommodate that enough. You need to learn to have backup plans that don’t make you feel like an ass or a killjoy. Plans can involve eating before, deciding what you eat when you get there, and how to talk to other people about it so everyone is comfortable. It takes some effort, but you get the hang of it pretty fast if you work on it.

(Not fat, just had a brief “chubby” phase in my teens, but I cured it fast.)
My tip: don’t snack. it’s easier than you think.
Eat your breakfast, lunch, dinner. In between those, stay the hell out of the kitchen and eliminate snacking as an option at all. Stay busy with life and fun. Don’t wander around your house bored and depressed until you find yourself making peanut butter toast with cookies or chips. Just GTFO of the kitchen and into a life of some sort.
The bulk of the magic is in the diet, not exercise. It’s a hell of a lot easier/quicker to refrain from eating 500 extra calories than it is to eat it then try to burn off 500 extra calories.
So when you’re done a meal, brush your teeth and get on with your day.
#38
My trainer wanted me to run, but I just could not for the absolute life of me get into the habit of running. So I would do this walking / running interval. I still hated it
So I decided to just cycle instead. Yes it burns fewer calories than running but you know what, I actually do cardio when I’m cycling. With running I wouldn’t really do it, I’d be like “meh I can skip it today.”
#39
Cut down on beer.
Drink only water
Burn more calories than I consume
Eat smaller meals
Go hiking as much as possible in preferably challenging terrain.
Pull up bar.
I’ve went from 198-163 since the end of May and I look pretty damn fine now.
Also, mind numbing depression helps with the hunger…
#40
Don’t stop at home before going to the gym after work or class. I cut out the middle step of going home before working out and started going to the gym straight from work. If I set foot in my apartment, all intentions of going to the gym fall by the wayside because my bed and Netflix always sound like better alternatives. Going to the gym straight from work helped me get into a routine, and in just over a year, I’ve lost 45-plus pound

Ditch alcohol

#42
Cut back on foods with added sugar. I got rid of added/extra sugar during Lent one year. This meant no desserts, no soda, no syrup, etc. Fresh fruit was OK and I used yogurt with the least amount of sugar to satisfy my sweet tooth. In 40 days, with minimal exercise outside of gym class in high school, I lost 20 pounds.
#43
Feeling hungry for a bit won’t kill you. Drink water and deal with it.

Soda has to go, period. Sure you could balance it into you calorie counting but why bother when you could fill it with stuff that makes you feel better
#45
If you want to lose weight, start by honestly counting your calories. You dont need to cut back what you eat, just keep track. Keep doing this for 2-3 weeks. By doing this, you are showing yourself just how much you are consuming.
From there, establish a small goal for yourself, e.g. 2100 calories per day. Keep track and measure your calories honestly. It’s okay if you dont meet your goal every day, but aim for most days.
Once you are comfortable at that level, lower it a bit further down, to say 1800. Keep this up and repeat until you reach 1600, 1400, or 1200 calories per day.
Take time to work your way down. Dont deprive yourself of a once in a while treat. The end goal is not to hit a point and then go back to eating how you did when you started, it’s about changing how you eat permanently. Sustainability for how you eat is what it’s all about.
Personally, my goal is 1300/day and after doing this for 2 years, it has become normal. A bad cheat day for me is 1600-1900 calories, which is in line with what my body needs (BMR).
The hardest part of this process is being honest with what you are eating and sticking with your goals.
#46
Treat working out as a social activity. One of my friends got a Groupon deal for a gym, and about five of us signed up. I joined purely to hang out with the boys after work instead of going home and browsing the web. We started going every evening, and within a few weeks I started noticing significant differences (as all beginners can relate).
A month later, I signed up for a gym closer to work and started eating better. Now, four years later, I have lost 100 pounds of fat, and put on over 25 pounds of muscle.”

I accidently fell asleep. Today was really busy and I guess I really needed it. I’m looking forward to going back to bed. I had a lot of allergy problems last night. And with Sweetp being so mean, sleeping was hard. I was able to get a few hours before he started crying and I had to open the walk in closet so he could get out. He stops being a jerk though so that was good. I woke up around 9. I had a donut and cereal for breakfast. Had a shower and got dressed. It barely hit 70 today and it was just so lovely. And I felt real cute. Amanda texted me around 10 last night to see if I could work a mermaid birthday party in the afternoon. So I pushed back lunch with Ashlyn and put some blue eyeshadow on and headed out. Downtown to ballet. It was a good class. I felt strong. I wasn’t as flexible today as I would have liked but it was still good. But there was this older woman who was making a spectacle of herself. Like just being very distracting and moving around the room and appologizing and it just irked me real bad. But I just tried to focus on myself. We went over a few minutes which stressed me out because I needed to be at the birthday party at 1. But I stayed to get those last kicks in and quickly went to change. I put my GPS on and started biking the almost 4 miles to the studio. Thankfully I could take the cedar trail and it’s a beautiful ride. My gps wasn’t talking to me for a bit so I took a few wrong turns and I thought I would be late. I texted Amanda but I ended up being right on time. I was a bit out of breath but I got my apron and started working. Most of the party goers were already there. It was a 6th birthday for a little girl named June. It was mermaid theme which was real cute. One of the little girls, very seriously told me I looked like Ariel. Which is 100 percent not true but made me feel good regardless. We made pretty shell bags and mermaid wands. We painted and took pictures. I ran behind Amanda and made sure we were always ready for the next thing. Cleaned as I went. The kids were really sweet and it was a pleasure to work with them. The mom let me have some cake which was super good. I packed up all the kids gift bags and swept and off they went. I finished helping Amanda and then headed out about 10 minutes after 3. I was meeting with Ashlyn at 330 so I quickly got out of there. And as I locked up my bike there she was. She found a little cafe in st Paul that had crepes, at my request. And it was so good. Even though my sense of taste is really messed up. She got a spinch and goat cheese salad and let me try a little and I really liked the balsamic and goat cheese combination. But it might just be because I can’t taste much and it’s a strong combo. Regardless the place was super cute and I had a great time with Ashlyn. We had some time before she had to go to a yoga so we went online and looked to see if any thrift stores were open nearby. And there was a Turnstyle not to far so off we went. We tried on some silly dresses and I got one that I really love. It is stripped because thats what I needed in my life. Ashlyn always takes a long time in the dressing room debating so while she tried on one more thing I went to pay. The service there wasn’t very good and I was ignored for a while. So I wandered around a bit and ended up finding an amazing blanket scarf that I needed in my life. Finally I paid and Ashlyn was finished and paid as well. And then we were off. She took me home and I went and changed into something more comfortable. Cuddled with my new scarf. I called my dad and we checked in about a moving schedule. And just some stuff about there trip to my new place tomorrow. I wish I could be there, mostly because I want to hear mom’s reaction to the place right away. But they’ll call me I’m sure. I hope they have a nice time in Baltimore. After I got off the phone I watched some YouTube videos and fell asleep somewhere in there. And now I’m just ready to get to bed for real. Tomorrow I am going to go a bunch of laundry and vacuum pack my extra sheets and blankets. I have figure skating tomorrow and I’m really looking forward to it. I hope you all sleep well and be kind to each other. Good night!

Scarves and Rain | Drabble
//It’s definitely canon that Okashi and Kaz (@kaz-sunspot) run into each other like all the time, but have never actually had a conversation. Like, the Panya bakery is Kaz’s favorite, and occasionally Okashi is behind the register. And they both go to UA for hero studies, but they’re in different classes. But they never talk, and don’t really even know each other’s names. But they still know some things about each other just because they see each other so often, if that makes sense?
Anyway, I wanted to write about the two of them, so here:
🍭  It was a slow day at the bakery. Okashi idled lazily behind the counter, watching heavy rain spatter relentlessly against the storefront windows. He hadn’t really expected many people to come in, they usually didn’t on rainy days like this, but he’d been here for several hours now and hadn’t had a single person walk in.
He sighed, leaning against the counter with his head propped up on his arms. If only someone else could have worked while his folks were away, but Amai and Komu, his twin sisters, were busy, and his other siblings were too young to watch the store on their own. So that just left him, tracing circles around donuts in the display case and waiting for no one to walk through the door.
The bell above the door chimed, and Okashi straightened up immediately, throwing on his customer service smile as he turned to the door. “Welcome to the Panya bakery!” He said automatically, but when he actually got a look at who was in the doorway, he was so confused that he forgot to say what pastries were on sale today.
The girl in the doorway looked over at him and nodded silently. That in itself didn’t surprise him, in all the times she’d come in, this particular customer only ever spoke when she was asking for what she wanted or to say ‘thank you.’ No, the thing that had caught his attention was the thick scarf around her neck that was pulled up to cover half her face, soaked in rainwater. Okashi knew it was a little chilly out because of the rain, but certainly it wasn’t that cold.
He watched her browse the store, trying to be as discreet as possible. Maybe if this was just some random person, he wouldn’t be so curious, but she was a regular. And not just that, he knew her from school too. She wasn’t in his class, but she was a hero course student too, so he saw her pretty regularly. But he’d never seen her wear a scarf like that, even on days colder than this one.
As she browsed, Okashi briefly wondered if maybe he should start up a conversation. This was the first person he’d seen all day. Surely, they could find something to talk about. He got the impression that she was kind of shy, but if he just started talking to...
Okashi paused in his train of thought, eyebrows knitting together thoughtfully as he stared down at the counter. Wait, did he even know this girl’s name? He was trying to come up with it, but was drawing a blank. How could he not know her name? She came here all the time!
“Ngxxt!”
The noise, though admittedly very quiet, was loud enough in the silent room to startle him. He looked up, but the girl was still looking through their selection of cookies. Okashi raised an eyebrow at her. He didn’t know why she bothered to browse. She always ended up getting cake. He’d never seen her buy anything else.
After what felt like an eternity, but was probably only a couple minutes, the girl finally wandered over to the selection of cakes near the register. Okashi smiled faintly as he watched her out of the corner of his eye. She was looking between the two types of cake they had on display (there would normally be more, but they’d been expecting a slow day), apparently unable to decide.
He saw her hand move and thought perhaps she’d made a decision, but when he glanced over, she seemed to be looking off into the distance, one hand hovering in front of her scarf. And then her head bobbed forward and she pressed her hand against the thick wool over her mouth. “...Ngxxt!!”
Okashi blinked, suddenly realizing what was going on, and then quickly looked away before she could notice him staring. He was suddenly very glad that she was so indecisive about what to get, because it allowed him to sneak little glances at her while she was so close to the counter, noticing things he hadn’t seen before. The paleness of her face. The dark circles under fever-bright eyes. The flush in her cheeks, mostly hidden beneath the scarf, but peeking out just enough to see.
He frowned, his fingers fiddling with a small box nestled in his pocket. So she was sick, and relatively seriously by the looks of it. But then what was she doing here? Surely, if someone knew, they wouldn’t have let her go walking out there in the rain...
Which of course meant that no one knew. She must have been trying to keep it hidden. That was probably what the scarf was for.
“Um...” Okashi looked over at the quiet voice, even quieter than normal. She was looking at him, one hand pointing towards the chocolate cake on display. “Could I get one piece of the—” She turned away slightly, coughing harshly into her scarf. “S-sorry. The...”
“The chocolate?” Okashi offered, wincing at the hoarseness to her voice. She nodded gratefully. “Sure thing! Coming right up.” He turned, deftly packaging her order into a glossy, white box with a blue and pink label printed on the top. She had the money, in exact change, sitting on the counter by the time he was done. “Here you go,” he slide the money to his side of the counter and pushed the little box towards her.
She picked it up. “Thank you.” As she was turning to go, Okashi put a hand up towards her and pulled the little box out of his pocket.
“Hold on! Here.” He pulled a stick of matcha pocky out of the box and held it out to her. The girl tipped her head at him, her expression dazed and confused. “Sorry, I know this is weird, but it’ll help. I promise.” He couldn’t just let her walk back out into the rain in her condition, not if there was something he could do to help.
She raised an eyebrow at him like she didn’t know what he was talking about, but she did reach out her free hand and let him place the pocky stick in it before turning to leave again.
“W-wait!” Okashi said, reaching over the counter to stop her again. “If you walk outside with that, it’ll get soaked and it won’t taste good. You should just eat it here.” She narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously, then glanced down at the pocky stick. “It’s not going to hurt you, I promise,” he added, quickly pulling another stick from the box and sticking it in his mouth to prove it.
Okashi wasn’t sure he was being very convincing. It was probably only the fact that she knew he was a hero course student that led her to pull down her scarf and stick the candy he’d given her into her mouth. By the time she’d finished eating it, Okashi could already see some improvement. She’d gained a little color back into her face and the glassy shine in her eyes had cleared. She wasn’t back to 100%, not even close, which only confirmed Okashi’s suspicions that she’d been seriously ill.
“What’s all this about?” she asked, blinking in surprise and bringing a hand up to touch the scarf. Her voice sounded significantly less like it had been raked with a cheese grater now. “What did you do?”
Okashi smiled innocently. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” He glanced down at the mostly empty box of pocky in his hand and held it out to her. “Here, why don’t you take the rest of this? I think you need it more than I do.” She stared at him for a long moment, so long that Okashi gave up on her taking the box from him and just placed it on top of her cake box instead. “Seriously, just trust me on this.”
She hesitated, as if she might try to give it back, but then nodded once. “Sure...okay,” she answered slowly, picking up the pocky box and slipping it into her pocket, “...thanks?”
Okashi just smiled and watched her head towards the door. She reached out to push it open, but then paused for a moment to pull her scarf back up over her face. Usually, when the customers leave, whoever’s working the counter is supposed to tell them to ‘Come again soon!’ or ‘Have a nice day!’ but with a small wave and the best cheery voice he could muster, Okashi called out, “Get well soon!”
She spun to face him, her eyes wide with alarm and maybe panic. “How did—?” Her question was quickly cut short as a sneeze caught her off guard, almost making her drop her cake box. “Ktxshhuh!!”
“Gesundheit.” Okashi propped his head up with his elbows, giving her a concerned little smile. “You know we can do deliveries, right? You shouldn’t walk all the way here if you’re sick.” He pointed to the package in her hands. “The number’s on the box. I hope you use it next time.”
Her face had gone beet red, which Okashi assumed was from embarrassment, not fever, and her gaze was glued to the floor. “I...I will. Thank you,” she muttered, nodding once and slipping out the door.
And then the bakery was quiet again. Okashi sighed, stepping out from behind the counter to check if anything needed to be done. He knew the answer was no, since no one else had been in and the display cases had been filled that morning, but it was nice to stretch his legs and walk around for a minute.
He stopped by the window and look out, watching the rain start to lighten up, droplets pattering much more gently against the window. “I hope she’s okay,” he muttered to himself, “I’ll have to check up on her at school tomorrow. Maybe I can ask one of her classmates how she’s doing.”
Okashi stopped, his shoulders dropping suddenly.
“Shoot! I forgot to ask what her name was!”
