Playing Cupid (chapter 10)
New chapter out now! There are only 2-3 left before the end of this fic. The edited version will be out tomorrow on ao3. Also keep your eyes open for a little simbar in this chapter. Luna and Matteo have been building their lives together slowly. Fresh out of college, they’re planning their future. But by planning this, they have an underlying plan no one knows of. Bringing their best friends together after 4 years of not being happy without the other. How well will their plan of playing Cupid work?
Prologue | chapter 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 | find my other fics here
"So nothing happened?" Luna insisted as she and Nina were walking to the bridal shop for the last dress fitting before the wedding.
"Well, I wouldn't say nothing," Nina answered as she looked down at her feet to hide her blush.
Suddenly, out of excitement, Luna took Nina's arm and pulled it to make her stop. She asked excitedly: "What? What happened? Tell me!"
"You remember the day we went scouting for locations?", Nina said carefully.
"Right, the location you found was even better than the one we initially had," she said, already imagining her and Matteo standing there on front of all their friends.
"When we started talking about you two loving the location, I started imagining the romance that comes with marriage on that venue and there was this moment, where it was just the two of us and we were this close to kissing," Nina gestured with her thumb and pointer finger close to one another to indicate the distance there was between them.
Luna jumped up and down at the news and said: "That's great! That must mean he feels the same way about you."
"I don't want to get too excited. It was just the spur of the moment. It meant nothing," she tried to deny, not wanting to get her hopes up.
"Don't say that, you have to keep hoping," she rested her hand on her best friend's arm in support.
"Let's just get going," Nina said, not wanting to think about it.
Luna understood and together, they started walking again to go to the bridal shop.
***
"I'm talling you, she likes you," Matteo said to Gastón, also on their way to the bridal shop.
Every bridesmaid and groomsman had to come to the fitting today. The suits were also tailored in the bridal shop.
"I just think she got swept up in the heat of the moment. There was a romantic side to it all," Gastón said airily, not wanting to show how much that moment meant to him.
"And I always thought me and Luna were bad at communication," Matteo shook his head in disbelief.
"What are you on about?" he took a look at Matteo to see him roll his eyes.
"We all see they way you look at each other and it's still the same look you had when you were both so in love in senior year at Blake," Matteo explained, "It hasn't changed in six years."
"Really? I haven't noticed," Gastón frowned, trying to picture what his best friend is saying.
"Of course you haven't. You know, this all reminds me of the time I was so dumb to see how Luna truly felt about me when that guy Michel appeared," he said with a fond smile, he did frown when he said the name Michel. He would never like that guy.
"Oh, I remember you complaining a lot about that guy. I would have loved to be there to witness your idiocy and to talk some sense into you," Gastón chuckled at the many phone calls with Matteo during that time. He really was hopeless when it came to Luna.
"Well, now it's my job to do that," Matteo became serious and continued, "What you need is one clear conversation with Nina and everything will be cleared up."
"You make it sound so simple," he sighed, not believing a word.
"That's because it is," he just answered, "And I'll make sure I'll prove you right. I'll just have to convince Luna, Ámbar and Simón to leave you two alone in a way where you can't do anything but talk."
Matteo held his chin in thought, already trying to come up with dozens of ways to make this happen.
Gastón's eyes widened and said: "You're going to do this now?"
"The sooner the better, weddings are all about happiness and romance so I'd love to see you and Nina being happy and together at our wedding," he said.
"You really want us to be together?" Gastón said in surprise.
"Of course, I want you to be happy and you've never been as happy as you were with Nina. I know that wouldn't have changed a bit," Matteo said as if it was the world's most known fact.
"Thank you for being such a good friend," Gastón smiled and gave him a quick hug, "Now, let's get this fitting over with."
***
"I see you've already started on the champagne," Matteo said with a smile as he entered the bridal shop with his best friend.
"You were just taking too long," Ámbar said with a smirk.
"Is Luna here yet?" Simón asked as he appeared and stood next to his fiancée.
"She was coming with Nina, she's probably running a little late," Matteo answered, "While we wait for the other girls to appear, we can already try the suits for me and the groomsmen."
"Oh, Simón in a suit, I can't wait to see that," Ámbar said as she sat down on the sofa in front of the fitting rooms with her glass in her hands.
"I'm sure you would look radiating in your bridesmaid's dress as well," he flirted and pecked her on the cheek. Getting into the fitting room.
The other guys followed but not before he sent a text to Luna that they needed to talk as soon as she came in.
"Hey, sorry we're late. We ran into some issues on the way," Luna apologized as soon as she came in the shop.
"It's fine, we already got started," Matteo greeted her as he walked out of the fitting room and taking Luna in his arms as he gave her a peck on the cheek.
"Don't you look handsome," Luna said as she looked him up and down.
"I always look handsome," he answered her with a fond smile.
"Let's look at the other before your ego grows too big," Ámbar interrupted their sweet moment.
"Here we are," Simón said as he appeared in front of the four people in the room.
"I'm definitely not disappointed to have come here," Ámbar said as she looked at the guy she loves so much.
"I'm sure I can't compare with you by my side at the wedding," Simón said while he gave her a big smile.
"Alright guys, let the girls put on their dresses and wait with the flirting when you have a room on your own," Matteo said as he put a hand on Simón's shoulder, showing them he's just teasing.
"Let's go Nina, the bride will put on her dress after Matteo left," Ámbar said and took Nina by the arm to lead her to the fitting room.
"Hold on, Ámbar, I'd like to ask you something first," Matteo stopped her before she was gone, Nina already disappeared.
"What's going on?" she frowned, having no clue why she was pulled apart.
"Yeah, your text sounded urgent," Luna interrupted.
"It's time we do some more matchmaking with the two lovebirds that aren't together but really want to be," Matteo said with an excited smile.
Simón turned to Gastón to confirm who they were talking about, Gastón just rolled his eyes and shook his head in exasperation.
"Is that why you two have been so secretive lately? Because you were playing matchmakers?" Ámbar raised an eyebrow.
"Sadly, yes," Gastón sighed.
"Come on, you agreed," Matteo said with a frown.
"I did and I think I'm starting to regret it," he answered.
"You don't," Matteo said without blinking.
Gastón answered: "You're right."
"Okay, what's the plan?" Luna interrupted, wanting to get back on track.
"We need to get them to talk alone without interruptions," Mattteo started to explain.
"Easy, just lock them in the fitting room, it locks from the outside," Ámbar simply said.
The four others look at her with a frown.
"What? I might not pull that stuff anymore but that doesn't mean I don't notice things," she said in a flat tone.
"You're brilliant, bonita," Simón said and gave her a kiss on her crown.
"Okay, now we just got to figure out how we get Gastón in that fitting room," Luna said, thinking out loud.
"That's easy. He just walks in," Matteo said.
They all start to think for a moment and couldn't find a better alternative. They ended up nodding and agreeing with his plan. It was the best they could do.
"Alright, let's get this crazy plan started," Gastón sighed and gave in. Getting ready to finally have the conversation he and Nina had to have.

What I like the most about your writing / my favorite fic of yours for a ask game from a bit ago.
I love how well planned your writing is, it’s so thoughtful and in character, but on top of that there is always intricate plot, and I love it. I love how you write Luna (my favorite girl) and I love your writing of the core six. I always love reading your works!
Soy Sol is amazing. It’s my favorite of your fics, and I am always so impressed by it! You tied up all the lose ends of s3, and I loved the Lutteo plot line. Lutteo is a complicated pair but they have grown so much throughout their time together and your writing expresses that so well. I really enjoyed the Yam pursing her dreams plotline and loved seeing the Roller team together and tie lose ends. I love how you’re write Luna so much. I love how you wrote their dynamics (the dynamic of the cast are my favorite thing ever) and ahhhh!!!!
Love it so much!!! Ahhhhh!!!!
Ink, you are absolutely the sweetest!!!! It makes me so happy reading this. You are the greatest and have always supported me and my writing journey.
Whenever I write a piece, especially a long one my favorite thing to do is write the outline first. It helps me figure out how the story is going to be entirely and makes the writing process a little easier knowing what happens beginning, middle, and end.
Soy Luna is one of my favorite shows and it will forever have a special place in my heart. So when writing Soy Sol, I wanted it to feel like a story meant for the show, where each character has their own story and purpose. I wanted each one to be seen since I love them all.
It makes me really happy as well hearing that you love the way I wrote the dynamics. For me, that was kind of the trickiest part since I wanted there to be a story that flowed while also having the characters be themselves, with their developed and developing relationships.
Luna has a special place in my heart so I definitely wanted her to be herself while also growing and maturing. Thats why I gave it the title Soy Sol, it’s like a rebirth where she accepts every part of herself, her past and her present while being hopeful for the future. Understanding that relationships can be tough to tender but are always worth it for the ones you love in the end.
Also, so sorry for not answering these two days ago. I ended up getting really busy and wanted to give my deepest appreciation in the answer to this ask. Thank you Ink, always reading the sweet compliments you give about my writing will forever be motivating and you already know I’m your number one fan of A Pair of Stars. I will forever say it was what season two NEEDED, you gave it the spark it was missing. 💗💗

behold. me coping with session 9 SL!shinyduo
— — —
The crackle of a lightning strike hits at the exact same moment Pearl hears a resounding crack from her neck. After she had been shot by Scar, the impact of the arrow led her to stumble down the ravine beside Scar’s base, leaving her at the bottom of the pit.
Well, at least it was quick.
She finds herself lying on the stone ground, a view of a clear blue sky above her.
The only thing she could do was let herself breathe. (Do ghosts even need to breathe? Eh, who knows.)
Her eyes close as she builds a steady rhythm with the rise and fall of her chest, willing for the aching and exhaustion riddled all throughout her body to somehow dissipate.
Aside from the sound of her breaths, she can pick up Scar’s voice off in the distance. It doesn’t sound much like a cheer, or a cry, or anything— but then again, Pearl’s not in a fit state to focus on whatever he’s saying.
Instead, she tries to think back on everything that just unfolded, all the deaths, the hunts…the duel. The zombie that had been creeping towards Scar before Pearl warned him.
She sighs, “I swear, if he dies to a zombie, after all that…”
Now, she wasn’t really expecting a reply.
Especially not a reply from a voice that’s so familiar.
“I know, right? It’d be embarrassing for both of us.”
Pearl’s eyes snap open in an instant, as though the answer gave her a surge of energy, overpowering the waves of numbing pain.
“…Gem?”
She looks…just like she used to, when they were red…together.
Pearl blinks, trying to focus on the figure looming over her. It’s only then, that she notices Gem’s body is slightly translucent, allowing rays of sunlight to pass through.
“Hey, Pearl.” Gem extends a greeting they both know far too well. She crouches down, tilting her head. “Are you going to keep lying on the ground, or…?”
“I might.” Pearl chuckles. “It’s pretty comfy down here, actually.”
“I can imagine.” Gem shifts to sitting cross-legged next to Pearl, which prompts her to try and actually sit upright as well.
Pearl grunts when she finally manages to move, scooting over to Gem. Sitting underneath the shades of a bit of overhang of the earth above, they find themselves situated in a corner of the ravine, now further ruined with scorch marks and splatters of blood on the walls.
Despite the destruction, sunlight casts shadows of sunflowers into the chasm. It must be the ones Scar has around his base.
Silence follows. Pearl tries her best to stare only at the walls around, but she ends up glancing at Gem a few too many times. She hopes Gem is too preoccupied to notice. (Pretty slim chance of that happening, considering the fact that there’s nothing of interest nearby but them.)
Eventually, though, something in Pearl pushes her to speak.
“So,” Pearl starts, “what’s got you wanting to give me a visit? I thought you’d be with Scott and Impulse.”
Gem jerks up at the sudden question, then turns away from Pearl. “I— I dunno, I just… We died pretty close to each other, you’re the first one I saw.”
If Pearl’s head had been a bit more clearer, maybe she would’ve questioned why Gem was so insistent on not facing Pearl when she answered. Instead, she accepts the answer with a nonchalant “Ah, I see.”
“Well, I appreciate the company. And…” Pearl adds, pausing as the following words get caught in her throat for a brief second:
“I’m sorry.”
That seemingly got Gem’s attention, causing her to look at Pearl once again.
Just today, Pearl was met with those same pair of eyes on multiple occasions. For some, they sparkled with a sense of joy. For others, they held a flurry of panic behind them.
At this moment, they were glazed with a whirlwind of emotions Pearl couldn’t even begin to decipher.
Pearl can see Gem obviously struggling to find something to say, or to piece together the thoughts in her head. Either way, Pearl waits.
“When you— when Scar was coming for me, you asked me if I wanted to duel it out with you, with swords.”
Pearl nods.
“Why?”
It’s such a simple question, really. Pearl knows exactly why she did it. Just as she knows why she went into the End earlier in the game to fight the dragon, why she rode a camel with the same person who’s killed her twice, why she couldn’t get a successful ambush when she’d been in the siege against Gem and the Scotts.
What leaves her lips is not the answer. Not a clear one, at least.
(It’s never easy, is it? When Scar and Gem had begun fighting, all Pearl wanted was a moment to think. She didn’t know what to do, she didn’t know why she began shooting, she just didn’t know. She couldn’t decide.)
“You said you didn’t want a bow fight.”
“But a sword fight, Pearl?” Gem pushes on in an instant. “I know you, Pearl, I know you prefer using an axe.”
“I do, yeah.” Pearl doesn’t give away any more than that, choosing to give Gem a noncommittal response.
“So— If Scar hadn’t— If I agreed, you—”
“You probably would’ve kicked my butt.” Pearl admits with a smile.
Gem takes a deep breath. Then, in the quietest voice Pearl has heard all day, Gem asks, “And you would’ve been fine with that?”
(I would’ve been more than fine with it.)
“You would’ve beat me fair and square, I don’t see anything wrong with that.”
“But you—” Gem cuts herself off with a groan, growing more and more frustrated with Pearl’s vague replies. It’s no use when they’re both dancing around the topic, even though all Gem wants is to ask: would you have let me kill you? Could we have stayed friends? What went wrong?
Gem recalls Pearl backing away after one swing of her sword, when she was fighting Scar, she caught a glimpse of Pearl leaving the fight to them. She remembers how Pearl could’ve pulled out her bow, could’ve ended her right there.
(Do I forgive you?)
A breeze blows past the Sunflower Valley, leading the flowers above, along with their shadows, into a gentle dance.
Nearly every question Gem has dies on the tip of her tongue, leaving only one:
“What now?”
Pearl gives it some quick pondering, before stretching her legs out and bracing herself to stand. “I wanna check on Mailbox and Matchbox.”
“Then,” She helps herself up by leaning on a wall. “I wanna see if I can find my Mounders anywhere.”
Lastly, she extends a hand out to Gem. “After that… I think I remember Scott saying something about a spare camel around Etho’s?”
Gem returns the smirk on Pearl’s face with one of her own. “Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
“The Murder Camel rides once more!” Pearl cheers as she pulls Gem up with her.

Tumblr media
OHHH THE FIRST ONE FOR FUNTIME FREDDY!!! THANK YOU, DARLING!
~Enjoy~
★★★★
𝓕𝓾𝓷𝓽𝓲𝓶𝓮 𝓕𝓻𝓮𝓭𝓭𝔂
★★★★
~HE'S A BIG SWEETHEART!!!
~And don't forget to give BonBon some love, too!! Pat his lil' head!!
~Funtime Freddy LIVES for your hugs. He puts his heart and soul into it! A lot of excited laughing when he hugs you, too.
~His voice gets all glitchy and laggy when he sees you even just walking by, even if he's not even out of order. He's just so excited that you're there! Freddy literally always has to greet you everytime he sees you just existing.
~He likes to call you: Cupcake, Toots, Pudding, Sunshine, Doll, Muffin, Pookie, Snookums, ect. He's really annoying with nicknames. You swear to God he doesn't even know your real name.
~This unfortunately won't stop if you tell him it's annoying. He'll do it more.
~Gets offended if you don't greet BonBon (but I mean who wouldn't greet BonBon), and holds him up to you so you can say hi.
~"HE-E-EY! YOU DIDN'T SA-AY HI TO BONBON!"
~Both Freddy and BonBon's nose make a squeaky sound when you boop it.
~Freddy's very cheerful and happy! All the time! Like- Literally! Every second of every day! So if you're feeling down, being around a big happy bear and a little bunny might be able to help out!
~He likes to tell jokes (sometime he messes up but somehow saves it and makes it even funnier in result) and asks you what you think.
~He and the Funtimes go absolutely wild when it's your birthday. You'll definitely feel like a five year old having a big birthday bash.
~Freddy always wants to know what's going on in your life. Just hearing you talk makes him happy, so if you're talking about something you like, he's very keen on listening in.
~He always has something to say or a reaction in response to what you're telling him. He doesn't shut his mouth 🤡 But he also tries not to interrupt you by asking MORE questions about what you're already talking about!

Old drawing of my fnaf AU! This AU is a fanfic on AO3 that’s currently at around 78,000 words. It focuses mostly on interpersonal relationships, especially between these three, but also between Mike and Henry.
Michael: The Au focuses on Michael when he is 18 and living with Henry after his father surrendered custody after the Bite of ‘83. He was is foster care for 4 years prior to going to live with Henry after turning 18. He takes a job at the FNAF 2 location to find out more about the animatronics, and the otherworldly… pull he feels to be there. I decided pretty early on that I wanted his style to be kind of 1990s grunge, even though that style hasn’t risen onto the scene yet during the year the story begins (1987). Those nasty chuck tennis shoes he’s wearing probably went all through foster care with him. I also ended up softening how much he looks like William—most of the similarities would be in facial structure and expressions, and they share the same eyes, but their coloring is very different (I made Mike’s mom Latina in this).
Fritz: Fritz is his own character in this AU! During the beginning of the story, he works as a mechanic during the dayshift at Freddy’s (hence the grease rag. He also enjoys working on vehicles!). He develops fast friendships with both new employees (Michael and Jeremy), but has been noticing strange phenomenon around the restaurant for weeks. He also shares overlapping work hours with the daytime security guard, a man called “Dave”, who is starting to look oddly familiar…
Jeremy: Jeremy doesn’t believe in ghosts. He’s a highschool graduate from out of town, who came to the area for college, and took the night shift security position to get some money before term starts in the fall. He may be the most different from most other fanon depictions (other than Fritz, who rarely exists at all), as I started making this AU and long, long time ago, before the blueycapsules craze, and the jeremike rush that has followed ever since. He’s the most sporty of the three, which I tried to reflect in this choice of clothing. When he takes the job at Freddy’s, the abnormal animatronic behavior and overly-relaxed management staff set off alarm bells practically immediately—but something stops him from quitting, despite the physical danger. He isn’t sure if it’s begrudging worry for his new friends, or the weird pull he feels to the place, like something trying to speak.
If you’ve got time, please go read it! I put a lot of care into the story, and if you have questions, my asks are open :}

“Oh, hello.
The newcomer blinks. One ear twitches. Ren turns towards her, eyes wide, startled.
“Lizzie?”
“It’s good to see you again,” says Lizzie, and she’s only a little facetious, only a little bitter.
“Where… are we?” Ren looks around. It’s dark. The void stretches on and on forever, flecked with specks of light.
“Dead,” says Lizzie dully.
“Oh.” He blinks, rubbing at his head. “I don’t know what happened, I was—I was Tango, for a bit, I think? And now—oh. Oh, I feel sick.”
“Yeah, it’ll do that to you,” she says, flicking a nail. “How’ve you been, Ren? I haven’t seen you in a while.” She stares at him through narrow eyes.
“I haven’t seen you either, my Queen,” he says with a bow. “It’s been far too long.”
She snorts. Hugs her knees to her chest. “Don’t make me laugh.”
“What did I do?”
“My Queen,” she echoes, mocking.
“Well.” Ren hesitates. “You were.”
“Not anymore.” She reaches up, swipes her wrist across her eye. She’s not crying anymore, though. There are no tears to wipe away. It just burns. “Now I’m dead!”
“Are you okay?” Ren asks.
She laughs. “I died. It wasn’t even for my task! It wasn’t even cool! I just—I looked at an enderman—why wasn’t I wearing a bloody pumpkin?! I spent so long trying to convince Cleo to wear a pumpkin, and then I—agh. It was embarrassing. I’m an embarrassment.” She buries her face in her knees. “Don’t look at me.”
Ren is quiet. She thinks, for a moment, that he’s moved away, but then there’s a hand in her hair, and a voice saying, “I don’t think you’re an embarrassment, my Queen.”
She snorts. “Everyone else does,” she says lowly. “I died before Jimmy. Do you know how embarrassing it is to die before Jimmy? Everyone says he’s cursed! I’m just—I’m just—incompetent. And nobody even cared.”
“I care,” Ren says softly.
“You’re dead too.” She scowls into her skirt. “You weren’t even really alive.”
“...That doesn’t mean I don’t care.”
“You didn’t.”
“What?”
“Last time—Last Life—you—you didn’t want me anymore. And then I died. And this time—I was alone again. I thought I worked better alone. Certainly worked better than all that nonsense with the Fairy Fort. But—here I am again! Dead!” She laughs. “Stupid game. I shouldn’t have played.”
“I know the feeling, my friend.” He settles down, sitting beside her with a sigh. “It’s okay. You don’t have to play again if you don’t want to. God knows I don’t.”
She steals a sideways glance at him. “How come?”
He grimaces. “Do you know how I died last time?”
“No.”
“Grian dropped dripstone on my head. I didn’t even see it coming. It was—it was a one in a million chance, my dude, the luckiest shot in the world, and he made it. Everyone thought it was so cool. Nobody thought that it was sad that I was dead. Well, except for Grian, who thought it was sad that BigB died because of me.”
Lizzie tilts her head to the side. Peers up at him. “That must be pretty embarrassing for you, huh,” she says.
His ears flick back against his head as he sags. “So embarrassing.”
“Well…” She straightens up a little. Rubs at her eyes again. Says, “I suppose if someone must see me in such a state, it should be someone who’s just as pathetic as me.” Offers him a small smile.
“Aye, my Lady,” he says with a laugh. “What a pathetic pair we make.”

Playing Cupid (chapter 9)
And finally a new unedited chapter. I'm sorry it took so long. The edited version of this one will be posted on ao3 tomorrow. I'm determined to finally finish this so expect updates every 2 weeks from now on. I don't know how many chapters are left but things are finally happening with gastina in this chapter. Also, at the end I was inspired by a certain creddie scene in the icarly revival so if you've seen the last episode of the show, you might recognize it. Luna and Matteo have been building their lives together slowly. Fresh out of college, they’re planning their future. But by planning this, they have an underlying plan no one knows of. Bringing their best friends together after 4 years of not being happy without the other. How well will their plan of playing Cupid work?

Chapter 9: A Bump in the Road
This was a bad idea, Nina knew it but she had to go through with it. She promised Luna to spend the day finishing up the details for the wedding. Gastón would help and that's the part that made her the most nervous.
They decided to meet at the Jam & Roller. Being in a public place might make this meeting less nerve-wracking. Plus, Luna was closeby, training for the next skating competition with the team. If they needed help with anything, she could be here soon.
"Hey, sorry, I'm late. I was discussing some details with Matteo about the duet we're doing," Gastón said in a way of greeting.
"I heard about that, Luna said Matteo was very excited about this," Nina answered, "He's really happy you're back."
"Me too, I have to admit that I missed Buenos Aires. England isn't quite the same," Gastón said quietly.
Nina smiled and answered: "I imagine so."
Gastón felt the awkwardness and changed the subject even though he wanted to say so much more.
"So what do we have to do today?" he asked.
"Well, Luna and Matteo have everything booked and sorted out. We just need to check that the things they ordered will be delivered on time," she said as she looked through all the papers with all the orders on them, "We have to make some phone calls then."
Gastón nodded in answer and said: "Sounds easy enough. What's their wedding date again? I want to make sure I get it right."
"It's exactly 4 weeks from now," Nina looked down at the date.
"Then we better hope everything is okay because arranging anything on such short notice would be impossible."
"Let's get started then."
That's what they did, for the next few hours, they make phone call after phone call. Nina was relieved to know that everything was going smoothly so far. With something else to focus on, there wasn't any awkwardness between them. But sooner or later, they'll have to have a serious talk.
***
"Are you sure this is true?," Gastón asked the lady on the phone.
"I'm afraid so, the venue was destroyed by a heavy storm. We can't repair it in time," the owner of the venue answered patiently.
"Is there any alternative?" he asked a little panicked and turned around to look at Nina to show how he felt.
"If there is, I'm afraid you need to find it yourself. We have to put all our resources in the repair of the venue."
"Alright, we'll have to find something then, thank you," he answered, disappointed.
"What's wrong?" Nina asked, clearly in panic.
"We have to find a new venue," he sighed. Feeling hopeless this problem will be solved.
***
"Finding a new venue on such short notice is going to be impossible. We're never going to find the perfect place again. How on earth will we pull this off when we don't even have time to breathe until the wedding?" Luna said exasperated, pacing back and forth in the locker room.
Nina and Gastón stood near the counter, looking worriedly at their friend while Matteo is rubbing his neck. He clearly didn't like seeing his fiancée in distress.
He gently took her hand when she waved with them and pulled her in for a hug.
"I know this wedding is stressfull, chica delivery. It doesn't help the skating competition is close but just take a breath. We can solve this, I just need you to calm down," Matteo said while rubbing her back in soothing circles.
Her shoulder fell at his words and she started to relax.
"Okay, we can do this. No worries, it's going to be fine," Luna said to no one in particular.
"Listen, you don't have to worry, okay? Gastón and I will take care of this. We'll find the perfect venue for you. We're your best friends, we know you two well enough to know where you'd like to get married. Leave it up to us to find a better location," Nina interrupted. Wanting to help her friends as much as possible.
"We will do this?" Gastón said surprised.
"Yes, we will. We can definitely do this," she answered confidently.
Luna leaves Matteo's arms to give Nina a bone crushing hug and said: "Thank you so much, Nina. That means the world to us."
When they pull apart, Matteo lays a hand around her waist and said: "Yes, thank you. I know we made the right choice when we chose you to be in the wedding."
"I don't want you to regret it," Nina just said with a shy smile.
Gastón didn't answer, he just stood there frozen. Looking for a venue for a wedding could imply so much. It could bring his feelings to the surface due to all the romance that comes with wedding shopping. This day isn't going to be as easy as he thought.
"We should get started as soon as possible, I'll go get my computer to check out some locations," Nina said, "Gastón, are you coming?"
She looked up at him and he just nodded. She was waiting for him to come.
"Do you mind if I talk to Gastón first?" Matteo interrupted and put a hand on his best friend's shoulder.
"Sure, I'll get started without you then," Nina answered and left the room.
"I should meet up with the team to discuss some things," Luna excused herself and left the room as well.
"Are you sure you're okay with doing this? You'll be spending a lot of time with Nina this way," Matteo asked.
"I am. Of course I'm nervous about this, I know my feelings will surface but that just might be the push I need to really talk to Nina," Gastón said, confident.
"If you're sure, I trust you know what you're doing," Matteo said with a smile, "I should get back to Luna, make sure she's okay."
***
"Okay, so we have a few location sightings lined up for today. It wasn't easy to find many locations available that day but I think we managed just fine," Nina said, looking down at the list of venues they made together.
"It's mostly because of you. We wouldn't have found so many without you," Gastón smiled at her.
Nina looked down, trying to hide her blush.
"We should get started right away," it was all she said.
So they did, they planned to visit 5 locations today and they couldn't find a good one until they arrived to the last one. It was next to the Japanese garden that Luna and Matteo knew all too well.
"This was one became available at the last minute," Gastón said while looking around.
They had a great view of the stream with the red bridge over it.
Nina looked around in awe and said: "This looks beautiful."
"Yeah, it's magical," he said while looking at Nina.
"I can already see it. Right here," she said as she stepped near the edge of the grass the place where the best view of the stream is, "Matteo and Luna should say 'I do' right here. It's a perfect place. I can already see it. It would complete the circle."
"Yeah, it couldn't be more perfect," he smiled at her enthusiasm.
"Imagine this...," she said and took his hand so he could stand right in front of her.
He was surprised by her sudden touch and felt the warmth radiating of off her. He reluctantly let go and put both his hands in his pockets to avoid giving in to his want to touch her again.
"The bride and groom standing here, face to face. Both radiating with happiness. It would be so romantic. They'll start their life together right here. Matteo saying I never expected to fall for you, you came out of nowhere. Then Luna would say she can't wait to spend the rest of her life with him," she said with a faraway look on her face.
Gastón could do nothing but stare at her. While saying all of this, he was imagining them standing here. Her walking down the aisle.
When Nina opened her eyes, she saw him staring right at her and she said breathless: "Isn't that romantic?"
"It truly is," he said quietly and looked down at her lips.
She noticed where his eyes landed and started leaning in.

ANOTHER THING I LOvE IS ALL THE TAYLOr SWIFT SONG REFErENCES!!!!! I am always so happy when I notice one and I’m sure I haven’t found them all yet!!!!
Awwww I’m so glad you love noticing them!!!
I love combining some of my favorite things into writing, whether it’s my favorite snack like popcorn or my favorite artist, Taylor Swift. But yeah usually I always include something Taylor related in my writing, like mentioning her or the song titles/lines as the chapter names in my fanfics. It’s fun and it’s like having a little piece of me in my writing. I just love her music and her lyrical storytelling, I can’t help it. It makes me extremely happy though knowing you love it too 💗💗
Thank you for the sweet asks Ink!

Tess and post shadowlands Sylvanas
thank you so much!! fic below the cut :D ngl i haven't written tess in a long time and i've never written post SL sylv before so pls be nice to me!
She’s been struggling with her memories since the soul fusion.
Some of the faces she guides out of the Maw are familiar, their names or their deaths hovering on the tip of her tongue, just out of reach; their consciousnesses brush hers, screaming wordless obscenities at her, stabbing her with cold, condemning anger as she sends them on their way. Not once does she flinch. Not once does she fight back. She keeps her eyes down, and her focus on her penance.
One soul, brimming with youth and broken optimism, breaks ranks and rushes at her in a swirl of Thalassian tulips, a smiling mouth open and calling her name-
But she flings them up before they can. Insults in Darnassian she takes in stoic silence. To hear herself condemned in her own tongue would… hurt.
There are no days in the Maw, and Sylvanas rarely allows herself rest. She stumbles from one lost soul to another, worn down like a cog in the Azerite machines she can’t quite remember the blueprints for anymore (were there three levers or four? One goblin operator or two?) On occasion she cleans her leathers. When her boots go into holes, she hunts Maw-touched beasts to replace the soles.
There are no hours in the Maw, no sunrises or sunsets, nothing familiar, nothing she can cling to. But no matter the circumstances, no Windrunner would be too tired or disorientated to recognise she was being followed.
Followed by the living, no less.
They’re good, she’ll give them that. Their footsteps are too soft even for her hearing. They cling to the shadows like a child to a blanket. But they are still human, and so she guides one more soul upwards, flinching at the psychic bellow of IHATEYOUIHATEYOUMURDERERBUTCHER it jabs her with as it’s pulled away.
Then she turns to the rock beside her, and folds her arms.
“Princess Greymane. An unexpected- surprise.” She has to pause to cough mid-sentence. She’s had no need for words since her sentence began; her throat feels dry and clogged. “What brings you- ahem- to the Maw?”
“Oh, bollocks to it,” comes from behind the rock, and Tess Greymane emerges, brushing her own breeches off. “I should have known the Banshee Queen would sniff me out. What gave me away? Did I leave a footprint?”
“To your credit, no. I did indeed sniff you out.” Sylvanas shifts her weight onto one leg. “You had roasted Gilnean boar for lunch, with a seasoning mixture from the Gilnean royal family’s cookbook. My spies were nothing if not thorough.” And, when Tess only blinks in response: “Though the recipe originated in Quel’Thalas. The Dawnstrider family. No. No, the Dawntreader- no- why are you here?”
“Well, make your mind up!” Tess’ fists are clenched above the pommels of her daggers. “I want you to lead me to Liam. The Arbiter says he hasn’t passed through yet. He’s still down here somewhere and… well, I… you’re uniquely placed to…” She pauses. Her mouth works silently. “Erm, locate him,” she finishes, uncertainly.
  “… And who is Liam?”
The screech that rips itself from Tess’ throat has Sylvanas stepping backwards sharply. “I beg your- how dare- what do you mean, who is Liam?” She lunges for Sylvanas, eyes wild. “My BROTHER! You MURDERED him!”
“You must understand-” There are so many I killed here, how could I possibly know where one is, which one was he-
“You fucking murdered my brother and you don’t even REMEMBER!” One flailing fist grabs Sylvanas by the collar; she jolts forwards with a grunt. “Let me enlighten you, you rotting bitch, you conquered my homeland and you slew my brother, yeah? Sound familiar?”
  “I-”
“Don’t give me that shit! Nobody fucking forgets something like that! I don’t care if your fucking Scourge brains are turning to fucking liquid between those knife-ears, I want you to find Liam so he can be at peace, so that my family has justice, and so that my father will finally fucking accept he’s gone!”
  “What did he look like?”
  “Like me!”
Of course. But long red hair in a ponytail, where hers is raven-black (like Minn’da’s). Steely faced- it was obviously his first battle. He was on horseback. A blade in one hand, a blade with gleaming runes, the dewdrops froze on her skin as he charged her down no he held a torch he was another human prince it impaled her and it stole the air from her lungs, it cut her so deep, cut her soul
“-Windrunner! Fucking snap out of it!”
She jerks back to reality as Tess Greymane slaps her in the face.
“Ow,” she says, on nothing but instinct.
And Tess- actually rolls her eyes, like a gossiping maid-servant. “Oh, come on. That didn’t hurt.”
“No. No, it didn’t. Though if you want to tell everyone on Azeroth that you hurt me, I’m sure they would be delighted to know.”
One hand still gripping her collar, Tess tilts her head, staring at Sylvanas. “You know,” she says, and wets her lips with the tip of her tongue, “I always thought of you as this malevolence. This wordless evil in the dark. A brooding, ruthless assassin who stole my brother away. And you’re just a-”
“You’re not the first to call me a monster, and you won’t be the last.” Tess’ brows furrow. “For what it is worth,” Sylvanas continues, and gently untangles Tess’ fist from her shirt, “I had no quarrel with your brother, nor your country. Garrosh- whom I did have a quarrel with- he gave me the “choice” of staying together and risking my people’s annihilation in a hopeless, pointless war with Gilneas, or watching my people be carved up into regiments and thrown at the Alliance until none of us remained.” She shrugs. “Obviously, I chose the former. I cannot apologise for acting in my people’s interests.”
“Well,” Tess snaps, “I won’t apologise for acting in my people’s interests.”
And she slaps Sylvanas hard enough to send her stumbling backwards.
There’s a pause, as Sylvanas silently prods at her teeth one by one with her tongue.
  “No ‘ow’ this time?”
  “My apologies. Ow.”
  “Huh.”
  The silence falls again.
“I… fuck’s sake. I thought this would give me closure too. But I knew it was Garrosh. He admitted it all at the trial. I-” Tess’ shoulders slump. “He… he was really going to do that to the Forsaken? Deliberately send you to your deaths?”
  “Yes.”
“Why didn’t you tell us or something? Pretend to invade? We could have-”
“You would have slaughtered us on sight, like every other human nation.”
Tess opens her mouth, the beginning of a protest on her lips-
And promptly closes it. Sighs, heavily, and plops down on the rock beside her. “Yes,” she admits. “Yes. We would have.”
  “And Garrosh knew that too.”
  “Fuck him.”
“That,” Sylvanas says, and prods her face to check for any blood, “we can agree on.”
  “Yes.”
Finding nothing but dry, cold, lifeless skin, Sylvanas straightens herself up, hands folding behind her back. “If you are willing to help guide me to him, I am willing to find your brother. It may take some time. The Maw is a hostile environment to living creatures.” Even now, a presence is creeping nearer, and she readies herself for another psychic bombardment from a night elven soul. “Many adventurers died here in their attempts to stop Zovaal, and many condemned entities remain even after his demise. Entities that will slaughter anything living they come across.” Is that a soul? Do you need guidance?
No, comes the guttural answer. Sylvanas stiffens.
Tess stares at her, oblivious to the shadow materialising behind her. “But our reports said there was nothing-”
“MAWSWORN!” Sylvanas shouts, and dives at Tess to throw her away from the dagger that lodges in her stomach instead.
The Mawsworn rears back with a screech, dragging a second blade from its holster and Sylvanas yanks the dagger from her belly just in time to parry the killing blow with it. “He’s gone,” she cries. “Zovaal is gone!”
“BETRAYER!” Their blades clash so hard it sets Sylvanas’ ears ringing. Her feet scrabble desperately for purchase in the dust. “THE WORLD MUST BE BROKEN!”
“He,” she pants, feinting this way and that way for some sort of opening, “is-”
There THERE her blade flashes in to puncture its heart just as Tess’ buries itself in its back and the Mawsworn screams in agony, flailing at her wailing at her and they jump back from its death throes.
“Dead,” she finishes as it dissolves.
The cloud dissipates to reveal Tess, one shirt sleeve bloodied, staring dumbly at her.
“You… you saved me.” A hand comes up to point at Sylvanas’ belly. “You- you actually took a dagger for me. You did.”
Sylvanas looks down at herself. At the black blood oozing lazily from the stab wound to her belly. The sluggish, half-forgotten ache of her cold body going through the motions of mending.
She looks back up at Tess.
  “Oh, right,” she says. “Ow.”
