IVE BEEN MEANING TO MAKE A POST ABOUT THIS ANON !!!! u read my mind ….. so the reason why i dont consider komahina to be true and real toxic yaoi is because theyre intended to be mutually healing for each other.

their main, striking similarity is their upholding of danganronpa’s harmful societal values on talent. a theme throughout their interactions is komaeda explicitly stating a subconscious belief hajime has and then hajime denying that there’s any similarities in their belief system — everything komaeda says about the inferiority of the talentless is something hajime has always believed, just in a less self aware way. they both end up essentially killing themselves (komaeda in a more literal manner, hajime with the kamukura project) to become something bigger, something worth being called the ultimate hope, because they believe their talent status gives their life no meaning and they feel they have to “make up” for it. theyve always been similar; one sees the other in the things he hates about himself.

this is why, when they fall in love, it’s so groundbreaking for their respective arcs. in realizing the similarities in their belief system, hajime becomes more self aware about how stupid his insecurities are. hajime is able to break komaedas worldview by being talentless and inspiring hope/being an equal to his talented peers from 77b, and this makes komaeda realize that, because they are so similar, HE can do that too (side note makoto does this first when he kills junko, but komaeda knows hajime personally/saw hajimes development play out firsthand so its more effective). they feed into each other’s development and are able to grow from it.

they’re not really framed with much toxicity, and you can especially see this with allllll the visual parallels theyre given by the end of the anime. the juxtaposition of hajime grabbing komaedas junko arm to help him out of the pod and hajime grabbing komaedas prosthetic arm to help him onto the boat (paired with the line “let’s set off, in the name of hope”) symbolizes how interconnected hajime is to komaeda’s arc — his journey from old arm to new arm, from despair to hope to future. (and then theres the scene where hajime ditches ghost chiaki for komaeda too. and u see them eating with each other in the credits.) if they were intended to be toxic, they wouldnt have ended on that note.

and THENNNN theres also the fact that hajime’s really the only person capable of loving komaeda, in the beginning. hajime cant get struck down by komaedas luck, because hajimes the only one with ult luck powerful enough to counter komaedas. their lucks cancelling each other out is a concept stressed by the anime with the kamukoma gun scene. he’s also the only person with the guts to put in the effort to UNDERSTAND komaeda, a concept stressed in komaedas FTEs. hes the first person that physically can, and the first person thats made the effort. this is groundbreaking for komaeda.

theyre not toxic, they just go through a little angst period that ends up being resolved in the end. hajimes confusion towards komaeda and komaedas confusion towards hajime was necessary, they HAD to figure each other out because in doing that they learn something about THEMSELVES. that process comes with some angsting that is often mistaken for toxicity. of course they cant start dating mid killing game, THAT would have be pretty toxic, because a killing game is not a breeding ground for romance. this is why komahina never canonically starts dating - the time frame doesnt cover enough time for that. but they get two love confessions and the whole first fte is explicitly romantic.

likewise, i am fairly fucking slow writing-wise and alot of that is because of offsite issues chipping into me but also because most, if not all, of the things i DO have in the inbox or drafts are from my affiliates at this time ( tho i do have some more from the archive i need to move over from a couple people ). alot of my spoons and drive to write and post is because of the dynamics and plotting built between our muses. im not a blog centered on plotting but, it does help to have a better idea on how to navigate between muses c: esp for those technically outside of my kiddos' texas canon obviously. that being said, anyone is welcome to like any inbox calls i put out there. and my inbox is always open and accepting, even if i havent reblogged prompts in a while -- i have my tag linked on my pinned and its available always & for whomever. it just comes with the understanding that i may take a while to respond to them & they may not get as expansive as some of my posts can get with my affiliates; which again, is just simply from how much we've been building together that helps with that!

on that note. my connections with my texas pals are very dear to me. both ic & ooc. as i noted in my overview post, i talk about the dynamics we've built openly and freely here because theyre so integral to my portrayals. they & their kiddos have my entire heart and i unapologetically love having fun with them and going on tangents with them and bouncing thoughts off of each others posts on the dash.

my experiences in other corners of tumby rp have not been particularly kind. and its been a long time since ive felt comfortable especially ooc with writing partners. and i understand if i may come across closed off or intimidating or unapproachable. i understand if i also come across partial to them / play favorites because frankly... i am. i do. thats because they've built bonds not just between characters but also with me. ill be very transparent and say that i am very particular in who i get close with and that translates into here too. but thats also just something that easily can also happen with literally anyone. again i do understand if i come across closed off in any sense but genuinely? im not scary and i have options open for continuing to grow more connections with people c: theyre open always. what im not going to do, however, purely out of personal experience is chase after interactions. the last fandoms i wrote in i did so and it wore me down into my last hiatus. i will show equal enthusiasm to whats given. but i wont fish for it, either. its just not my cup of tea.

i like to think im fairly patient and understanding in a lot, probably moreso than i should in some cases -- sincerely though if theres issues know that im fine with it being brought up. but im also not going to be welcoming nor tolerate my boundaries being disregarded or disrespected, im already dealing with that with an offsite friend. not dealing with it here. i do not like feeling so uncomfortable existing on my own blog or in my own disc. and i get that already with my personal disc & this offsite friend in particular. im not dealing with it here too.

which on that note, i also wont be receptive with issues regarding what i post, what i talk about, who i write with, who i choose as affiliates or mains or w/e. my blog & my dash are my safe & comfort zones and these muses often help me alot with navigating when my headspace is at a fucked up level. if any of that is a concern yes youre welcome to come to me and talk it over but end of the day? my comfort & mental state is a priority to me. if thats ever an issue i truly would just recommend you do what you feel is best for you. everyone existing on this hell-plane are entitled on curating their space in whatever manner they see fit.

havent decided much about it yet besides the fact that its a bigger house but very old, so lots of repairs are needed. Bryn is very uncomfortable around hello/goodbye at first so june/hello/goodbye stay on the other side of the house. Wibble and Cammie have their own shared room & yes they do help around the house! Cammie has found she enjoys folding laundry (warm, kitty tendencies) and Wibble likes sweeping (witch with her broom teehee)!

I imagine its a lot more fluid now than it was before, with both of them able to take control of one part of the body to do things. ie) Hello is in control, and goodbye uses an arm to wave to someone passing by or grab something he wants to look at. If they get into an argument, June got them to start doing rock paper scissors to see who gets a turn. Goodbye tends to win more often (hello just wont stop picking scissors)

Oh absolutely. June was an only child and he is so excited to have a big family all under one roof. He and bryn are def the ones organizing a lot of that kind of stuff

June is the one interacting with customers, since matt isnt much of a people person. the shop struggled at first until they got enough good reviews that people started coming to them more often, now its doing fine! Not super super well, but livable! Bryn is a dentist so her income is def helping, and june does odd jobs on the side as well. Hello keeps begging to open a daycare (with june also begging) but its a firm no from matt. too risky.

Matt is allergic to pollen, and Piper has a bad peanut allergy

He does! While all 3 of them are a bit clingy, june is trying very hard to not spend all of his time at home. He takes trips to the nearby other towns to go to the mall, grab lunch, just hang out etc. Sometimes he'll take one of the animatronics, but only ever in the winter when theyre able to hide them easier. Other times if the animatronics are getting antsy june will facetime them while hes out so they can see. Cammie especially though is very bitter about needing to remain hidden, same with hello (though hello is more whiny about it rather than mad) - bonus: June really likes taking piper on "field trips" to the park, and piper brings the robots the little presents she finds (rocks, leaves etc. Goodbye has a collection of everything shes ever given him) - astro cadet is Piper's BEST friend

Mine is food obsessive and can’t pace herself so she’s on a very strict schedule. OC (other cat) is a grazer and we had to get a microchip feeder for him because she kept stealing all of his food. They’re on timed feeding at 7 AM, 12 PM, 6 PM, and 11 PM. He’s a little older by 2/3 yrs but is only 4, and he gets really mad when she plays with anything. He’ll bully her off of a toy or try to harass her in the litter box. We have 3 so they’re not short on them. He’s fully kept out of my room so she has space to herself since he has free reign on the rest of the apartment space. We’re on the second story and there are some birds that nest nearby, but nothing else particularly disruptive unless someone is loud in the hall; neither of them like that. I know it can take a while for them to settle in but I’m just hoping I can get the violence to tone down because I’m tired of breaking up fights :(

but it sounds like he's definitely defending 'his' territory from an interloper. so I would suggest establishing your roommates (if theyre amenable to it) room as 'his' safe space and the rest of the apartment as shared space. you can do this by moving his feeder in there and his favorite toys, as well as quiet time in there. when you are gone they should both get equal treatment of being put in their respective rooms. does she have her own toys or have they all previously been his? if she has some to call 'hers' then he may not take as much offense

it would take consistent effort but some general positive reinforcement and aversion training could go a long way. if he initiates a fight you can separate them by putting him in your roommates room for a calm break for 3~5 min with no people. this would teach him "ok... I pick a fight I get time out." same for her if she initiates. for the positive reinforcement, when they are harmoniously sharing space or having positive interactions its good to give high value rewards (special treats) so they associate that shared space with tolerance

for high value rewards they need to be something rarely given but VERY tasty. regular treats are good but dont quite have that impact. those licky packets or squeeze tubes are what I would use since they take a bit to go through

ALSO ASK YOUR VET FIRST but if your cats energy levels are effecting your sleep you can see about some cat melatonin treats to promote quiet nights

there’s something really engaging about the story of season 1 sao but so much of it wasn’t fleshed out enough or given enough attention

asuna and kirito’s dynamic and their dedication to each other is really nice to see but the impact of it is hurt by the fact that every female character(+the one guy in s3) who interacts with kirito becomes a simp. either it’s a harem, or kirito and asuna have healthy, unshakeable romance. pick one man

the way the players in sao created their own governments and armies and charities and a whole economy is cool! it’s genuinely a super cool concept! but you don’t really see the extent of it, or get to see the players create it. there’s a little bit of development you can see in what, episode 2? but then it’s a big timeskip after and watchers don’t get to see the creation of the massive guilds, or whoever made their uniforms or banners. you go from an unorganized mmo to everyone struggling and then bam, its like, a whole unique nation now

or the way no matter how old players were when they put on the nervgear, they were all forced into basically adulthood. kirito and asuna are what, 15? but after that timeskip they dont feel 15 at all, they feel like generic ambiguously aged anime characters anywhere from 15-25. that wouldve been a cool sideplot to add in, the forced maturing of these kids who love video games forced to mature because one misstep with a random animal could kill them. like yellowjackets or lord of the flies or fullmetal alchemist.

instead we get...nothing. no one ever really acknowledges that kirito and asuna are high schoolers who are just very, very good at playing video games. agil and klein are obviously 21+ but treat both of them like they’re complete equals, never batting an eye at these teens being major players in every floor clear. it really has that anime thing where the age of the main character is completely meaningless because theyre just going to be treated as adults by the narrative (15 yr old ichigo kurosaki, looking at you....)

there’s even an orphanage later on in the season!! where players have dedicated their lives to taking care of literal children who have been trapped in this death game. 6-10 year olds who were given the cool new game to play by their parents but are now stuck there. even this detail is only mentioned in one episode.

AND the end is stupid. they meet up with the crazy guy who locked everyone in the game and kirito asks him point blank hey man why’d you do it and the guy looks out at the sunset, smiles, and says idk dude i totally forgot but these two years have been crazy tho right lmao i can’t believe we all lived here and then promptly kills himself

#idk its just got such a cool premise at first but drops the ball by being sort of mediocre every episode #and only gets more mid every successive season #they got out of the game that kills you in real life and just ran out of stakes 😔 #im on the grimlock murder part and every rewatch i cant stop thinking about how cool this show could have been #maybe ill rewrite it lmao maybe

Hi! I had a few questions on what aplatonic actually means and some other things. So do people who identify as aplatonic not love their friends (if they choose to have them)? I don't ask this in a condescending way, more just for clarification. Is it accruate to say that apls don't totally enjoy friendship? I understand that attraction does not equal to action but I'm a bit confused about what that entails in this context. Also, how would a demiplatonic make friends? Because in order to feel a close bond, wouldn't you need to be around that person? But in order to be motivated to be around that person, wouldn't you need to enjoy their company? I hope none of my questions comes off as offensive. I'm not doubting or invalidating apls labels but just trying to understand them more.

for the most part, aplatonic people do not love their friends, however, different people define love differently! for some its a deep emotional bond, for others its an action, it can be many things depending on who you ask aplatonic is a lack of platonic attraction, but connections can be built upon other emotions, or none at all and simply logical reason, and for some they may choose to title that as love! i personally do not love at all, so i dont know much of the complexities of it, but just know that everyone defines love differently and, while many dont, i wouldnt say that all aplatonic people dont love their friends but again, i dont know that much about the different experiences, this is just what sounds most reasonable to me but yes, many aplatonic people dont love their friends, but thats not a bad thing. love is not inherently positive, and lack of love is not inherently negative. theyre both neutral traits, what makes it good or bad is your actions and how you go about it. love or lack thereof can often influence ones actions in one way or another, but the capacity for love itself doesnt have any inherent goodness or badness to it

some aplatonic people do enjoy friendships, some dont. for me personally, i enjoy them because of the benefit i get from them outside of love. i enjoy talking to others, i enjoy listening to them talk, i enjoy the support i get, i enjoy playing games with them, ect. but as there is no 'emotional connection' benefit i get, it can be incredibly draining to keep friendships and interact with others (introversion doesnt help either) and it can be very difficult. but despite that, i feel motivated to have those connections because of the other benefits i get there is many things to be enjoyed from friendship, the emotional connection, the support circle, the enrichment, ect. and thus, there are many reasons one could like (or dislike) friendships, whether they feel platonic attraction or not

i am not demiplatonic, and i dont actually know that much about what its like, so im not the best to talk on this. but what i do know is that there are many things that can motivate one to be around another, and many things that can be enjoyable from being around another, and many different ways and reasons to form a close bond

there are many things to give and gain in every kind of relationship. love, support, care, companionship, and so many things, be they big or small. if you dont feel the draw to one aspect that can come with a relationship, that doesnt inherently mean you dont like the relationship, just that you want something different from it. this is true for platonic, familial, romantic, sexual, and every other kind of relationship and its also fine to not want or need some or any kinds of relationships in your life. everyone is different, and their wants and needs are different too. it can be hard to understand often times, but its also okay if you dont or will never get it, what matters more is respect. its always helpful to understand, but respect should be given regardless of personal understanding

theres a lot of people who seem to think that c!beeduo will have some sort of giant argument abt ranboos or quackity will take tubbos last life or something and im just like. no i just want them to talk LMAO can we get a tubbo talking about his problems and have an arc of tubbo realizing that he shouldnt just accept mistreatment and that repressing his emotions is not the same as healthily moving on from trauma. i want him and quackity to be equals with mutual respect (which is where their relationship had already left off), i know realistically theres going to be conflict but like.

ranboo and tubbo both already know theyre keeping secrets, tubbo wouldnt be mad about enderwalk because its not dangerous, ranboo wouldnt be mad because tubbo didnt tell him about his past, at most ranboo would be upset *for* tubbo because like. theres no good reason for ranboo to get mad that tubbo didnt tell him about something incredibly traumatizing, and theres. no reason for tubbo to be pissed about sleepwalking, even *if* ew!ranboo has conmections with dream, tubbo has already expressed that he wouldnt blame ranboo for anything he couldnt control, and tubbo himself knows how easy it is for dream to get under peoples skin

also i feel like some people seem to lean wayyy too far into quackity being a villain to remember what *kind* of villain he is. he isnt like schlatt, who used political and perceived power to get his way. he isnt like dream, who slowly wittled down peoples defenses and convinced others that it was deserved and that he was in the right (to the point where people *still* believe what he said about tommy). he uses similar tactics, yes, but he's still his own kind of villain, and i truly do not believe quackity is going to kill tubbo when theres. not a very big benefit to doing so? at the least he gets the ire of ranboo and tommy. but its very likely that hes going to piss off a *ton* of people, because tubbo is like. very loved among the community, even most of the las nevadas citizens genuinely like tubbo (slime and quackity only being exceptions because we dont know exactly what their opinions are, but its unlikely that they dislike tubbo)

its unlikely for tubbo to permadie, and i think unlikely for beeduo and las nevadas' conflict to be much more than a moral conflict. hell, i think its more likely for ranboos focus on this conflict to cause an issue within the syndicate (ranboo and phil both focusing on tubbo and growing close with him, and weve been waiting for the ball to drop on technos response to it all, and it may come to a head with them all being apart of the las nevadas plot), or to even just tie up a lot of loose ends with various relationships (cough cough fundy and ranboo cough cough)

i also just dont think it works for the characters to have beeduo have a big fallout (or even really a big argument in general) or for quackity to cause such large harm to tubbo. like ive been trying to collect my thoughts on how beeduos relationship will develop for a while and i want to make a post about it but just as a general tubbo is canonically very loved and cared about on the smp, its very risky to cause harm to him and i feel like quackity would know that. also tubbo has never had a problem with people protecting him LMAO him and tommys entire relationship has been based around protecting each other, tubbo himself is very protective, i doubt tubbo would feel much more than annoyance at ranboos meddling and ultimately if he disagreed with ranboos morals i think he'd at least speak up about that (also tubbo honestly follows the "people not sides" thing in his own way, after all he and punz were always friendly, and hes friends with phil, literally married to ranboo, friends with sam, etc etc)

generally just like, i think tubbos story arc would be best if this led into a healing arc, like its very likely that someone will bring up him being a spy before and how it ended badly and tubbo wont be able to avoid it anymore, and with proper pressuring, yeah, i think he'd snap. but itd be cathartic, and also i do not think anyone around tubbo has the heart to just like, watch him break or even truly get satisfaction out of it. tubbo dying would only further his belief that his life doesnt matter, dream wouldnt revive tubbo, thats kind of just a given. canon wise, it makes sense for tubbo to survive (cough cough parallels to how tommy got out of exile, being the only president to live, also like he has a fucking son), and it makes sense for him to be able to genuinely get those around him to question their morals and how theyve treated him and others. i really do think tubbos arc is heading in a direction where hes gonna heal, and i think its absolutely going to be an emotional/moral struggle rather than a physical one

the people around tubbo have already encouraged him to be emotionally open before, just a bit more pushing and i think theres a chance. is tubbo going to break before he gets better? yeah, but i dont think its going to come in the form of him dying or even an argument with ranboo- which i just do not think will happen in the way most seem to think it will. they are genuinely good partners that love and care for each other, they consistently interact and work together on almost everything. yes they need better communication, but ultimately "i went/am going through a traumatizing experience and i didnt want to worry you by telling" is not a relationship breaker, neither of them are dangerous or harmful to each other. i understand the want to have a lot of action but thats likely going to come with the prison plotline, and tubbos relationships with the prisoners is a much different situation than his relationships with ranboo and quackity (INTENSELY different). hell, dreams in fuckin prison and is still a bigger danger to tubbo than ranboo and quackity could ever be

kirishima: forever and always a supportive bestie and thus leader of the todobaku fanclub. i mean just read my fic yknow. 1000% called it on bakugous side first (and/or bakugou told him) and has been enthusiastically supportive ever since. hes a big ol romantic really and also unironically thinks todobaku is the manliest of pairings (and totally made for each other, bro!!) so hes beyond stoked when they do get together. hes one of their most comfy third wheels bc he and bakugou r very close and he and todoroki r also good friends so no one is like on uncomfortable/uneven footing and hes unfazed by the ups and downs of their relationship bc hes used to both of their antics. the secret-keeper.

i don’t have enough separate intel on the rest of the bakusquad but they’re 1) completely thrown by the revelation that after years of wheedling and trying to set bakugou up into surprise dates he is not in fact ‘work-sexual’, and to top this off is actually into todoroki of all people 2) obnoxiously supportive, as you would expect. secretly they’re all kind of defensive of bakugou’s fragile heart (citation needed) and so nervous about how the whole thing is gonna work out but when it becomes apparent todoroki does not have better sense they relax and just become excessively nosy. like to complain that bakugou and todoroki weren’t content dominating their year academically and professionally they also had to steal out 2 of the country’s most eligible bachelors, the selfish bastards.

camie: second leader of the todobaku fanclub, idc. clocks it ahead of literally anyone else in their friend group bc she just, like, got that vibe, you know? theres a multitude of equally blunt and inappropriate ways in which she addresses this vibe (calling them out in person when theyre years away from it, trying to not especially artfully orchestrate a get-together, etc) and they are all very unsuccessful. shes ‘lowkey mad bakugou stole her potential man’ but ‘finders keepers’ so once they’re past that she’s all for it since she correctly thinks they r freaks best suited to e/o and also honestly probably thinks bl is cute or something. todoroki and bakugou both endure her encouragement very long-sufferingly. big double dater energy.

yaoyorozu: not at all in the first to clock gang, bc honestly the idea she has of todoroki is still a lil idealized/inaccurate and certainly does not involve dating bakugou; the initial reveal is inevitably delivered very casually to her as she scrambles for a polite reaction. she’s kind of wary of the whole thing at face value but close scrutiny leads her to conclude they’re actually not-terrible together. upon reaching this conclusion she begins making earnest overtures towards a very confused bakugou bc she figures she may as well make the effort to get to know him better. i always hc her as having had a crush of some variety on todoroki at some point so theres probs a bit of wistfulness involved and also a far larger ‘nvm dodged that bullet’ energy bc todobaku r romantically a mess and a half. to her despair she is extremely weak to camie’s todobaku gossip.

uraraka: to everyone’s vague bewilderment, a secret todobaku stan from the get-go. you could say this is bc it leaves deku solidly open but honestly she just has similarly odd friendships with todoroki and bakugou and it’s like a persistent guilty thought of hers that they’re kind of well-suited somehow. she often tells todoroki he can do better just to wind bakugou up but would be the first to take bakugou’s side if he actually did. she really enjoys them together bc she finds somehow they’re easier to tease- it humanizes them both further to be weak to dumb emotions. she plays counsellor sometimes but like subtly bc she knows better than to give outright advice.

iida: completely blindsided by the information, also spends several months in the grips of insomnia convinced that both their friend group and japan are doomed given the inevitable dramatic breakup. then he spends a singular day hanging around them at work or something and realises that his imagined version of them as a couple was in fact completely off-base bc they’re just overly intense workaholics who are too single-focused to ever bother splitting up. also top 1 most likely friend to launch into a completely sincere defense of them and their relationship in response to like the laziest off-color paparazzi bait comment.

midoriya: where to begin honestly. he def gets weird vibes from them throughout the whole usual melodrama but 200% does not come to the right conclusions. when he finally gets the news broken to him (never gently) his brain breaks a little. it’s mainly the bakugou element bc kacchan is.. kacchan and like.. not necessarily fundamentally someone midoriya has ever imagined harboring human interest in another living person. also todoroki in a parallel way has always struck him as resoundingly disinterested in relationships mainly bc hes kind of above them. of course once he sets to theorising he can connect some dots to bakugous various jealousies over the years and also todorokis pretty open staring and wow he is not very good at connecting dots actually. anyways once he recovers from the shock i think theres a variety of ways in which he takes it bc honestly it is very weird that his best friend and his .. closest friend (?) who have always primarily interacted through or due to him now have this competing private relationship. regardless obv he is intensely supportive in like, the typical kind of overbearing midoriya way. i sometimes make it so its just one of those things that everyones cool with but also the details will always be something midoriya and bakugou do not want midoriya to know bc Awkward, vs other times i make him super cool w it to the extent that hes just overenthusiastic and todorokis all oh. sure. thanks :) while bakugou loses his shit. he does genuinely think they’re a really good fit upon reflexion, and since he’s best suited to knowing why he’s p much always correct in his assessments. its one of those things where each duo in the trio has the capacity of playing up the subject matter to the third party’s detriment, tho when todoroki is the third party he’s less embarrassed by bakudeku’s todobaku discourse and more enduring their various bizarre friendship rituals + the serious physical damage they usually precede.

also aizawa clocks them first and is like oh god please no this is going to take at least 5 years to implode and will age me 10 years in the process

More comic vs film thoughts: after the film I felt like Andy’s friendships were closest with Booker, then Joe. Nicky was her little brother and yeah she loved him too but ideologically and the like she just has more in common with Book and Joe. Booker shares her depression and exhaustion, she admits to him the two of them are living badly. Meanwhile Joe just touching her back after she says goodbye to Book and then backing her up at Copley’s at the end - it felt like the two of them are more passionate people and understand each other in a way Nicky with his capybara vibes does not get. And of course, Nile is new so that’s developing.

In the comic however I was struck by twice Andy is like ‘Nicky with me’ - she has him come meet Copley with her and during the mission Copley sends them on that’s how they split - and I wondered why. Does she trust him more than the others? Does she take him as her opposite? And in terms of friendships - in the comic I didn’t really see any Joe and Andy (I mean - understandable given plot changes) to get an idea of their friendship, and she’s bonding with Nile so much faster - the differences in the portrayals mean I think Comic!Nile is more vibing with Andy whereas I see film Film!Nile becoming BFFs with Nicky

the change of nicky going with andy -> book going with andy is interesting. if i had to hazard a guess as to why they changed it, it would be

1.) joe and nicky are kept together, establishing them even further as a matched set early in the movie (along with ‘joe and nicky?’ ‘at the hotel’)

2.) andy and book being kept together as much as possible stresses their relationship, which makes the betrayal even more meaningful. booker kind of being andy’s right-hand-man as compared to just The Tech Guy in the comic makes it Hurt More when he leads andy to copley methinks

tho the scene where nile tells andy that Wifi Doesnt Exist In Caves and then booker pops up and interrupts them? unmatched comedy

and i dunno, i guess andy taking nicky with her might have something to do with nicky being good at reading people? ‘we are usually a better judge of character’ and all that, tho on the other hand copley is booker’s guy, so it also makes sense to take booker.

and honestly i think all of the characters were given more development, not only in their personalities but relationships. in the comic, andy and nile are the only ones who we get a strong sense of their bond (plus joe and nicky in the van scene) but the movie develops on all of the relationships so much. nicky and booker’s baklava bet. joe and booker’s argument in the lab. like u mentioned, joe and andy’s little interactions-- i also rlly love the way andy greets nicky in the hotel scene

nicky in the comics is less, er, somfte, (but thats true of all of them) so i dunno, maybe movie andy sees nicky more as the endearing baby of the group (which is funny considering his age) while booker is the right hand man- and then in the comic, its sort of switched, except booker is less of a baby and more of the tech-savy younger cousin (again despite his age)

(and in both the comic and the movie, joe is the guy who tosses himself through windows, so in neither does andy really need him as a right hand man. shes got enough chaotic BDE of her own to deal with)

but yeah comic nile doesnt really get any time to vibe with nicky or joe; and i also kind of noticed how much she and nicky seem to... not bond, but theyre kind of put on the same wavelength a lot in the movie? they have quite a few parallels, whether purposeful or not, and nicky has a couple moments with nile that joe doesnt (bringing her to bed, helping booker pull her out of the car). he gets those more emotional moments with nile that joe doesnt

(and i dunno, i think thats part of the reason i kind of go ‘ehh’ at the fandom interpretation of joe being a boundless socialite and nicky being shy. i mean, joe and nicky get equal amounts of screentime with nile, but we never get a moment of ~emotional connection~ between nile and joe. all of their interactions are [nile asks a question] [joe answers question]. hes so much more emotionally open with the others.)

(and with the villains too! nicky talks to copley, merrick, and kozak, and even if he only speaks to them to freak them out, he does talk to all three. joe only delivers one(1) one-liner to merrick, and in the comic i think he even tries to tell nicky to stop heckling merrick in the lab. nicky’s just more social imo)

fandom is literally my favorite album and i think about the words a lot but like. its comparatively much more honest and direct than any other parx release (ex: imsbalidwda, watch what happens next), so theres not as much that has to be interpreted. normally mr waterpark shrouds 8 layers of messages into unhinged lyrics but this release said what it needed to say.

personally (and i get that this may be an unpopular opinion but) the single most off-putting thing about waterparks to me, and something i disliked immediately when i first started getting into them, is the way that awsten knight talks about fans. hes always complaining about people saying rude stuff online, calling fans little gremlins or other shit that implies that theyre annoying, and taking direct offense to the actions/behaviors of stan twitter as if those fans can be considered a normal example of fan behavior??? the parx fandom already has a bad rap bc of 14 year olds on twitter, but he actively contributes to it with his dismissive words/actions towards the people who are literally paying his bills. and then he turns around and engages heavily with the twitter fandom, reads fanfiction written about himself on his podcast, and gives shoutouts for things like fanart or people putting up parx flyers around their hometown. like dude make up your mind, you cant hate the people tweeting weird shit about you but love the kids who send you pretty drawings bc guess what!!! theyre the same people!!!!! and they literally pay for your apartment and give you the endless attention that you feed off of all the time.

all of this to say: an album like fandom would be more groundbreaking and cool if it came from a band besides waterparks. once again, this is literally my favorite album, i love every single song. but fans and media outlets wanna give awsten a big pat on the back for saying something so controversial yet so brave, ignoring the fact that he says pretty much the same things in every single interview, theyre just set to music now. he was openly shitting on equal vision records before watch what happens next came out, he was criticizing fans for crossing boundaries before imhsbalidwda, and he was complaining about unrealistic expectations before dream boy. he gets praised a lot for his honesty, and thats cool, but at times he comes off as disrespectful or ungrateful. and in a recent rocksound interview, he said fandom didnt really change anything. all those twitter stans pointing fingers at each other saying “this is why he wrote [song], to call out people like you!!!” only to completely overlook their own behaviors. fandom didnt accomplish anything. its full of absolute bangers, but it wasnt revolutionary with its takes.

initially, fandom gives people a lot to think about bc its all edgy and witty and clever, but once you wade into the actual shitstorm of parx fandom, you realize its exactly on brand and on par with things that have been said a million times. and even then, its hard to fully validate awstens perspective in these songs bc he often encourages certain behaviors from fans by inviting himself into their spaces and just generally showing that he sees everything they say about him. he exacerbates the “problem” by complaining about it so much, and at some point we all can recognize that he thrives off of obsessive attention and knowing that people are dying to hear him talk or sing or watch him cut his hair or leak demos.

tldr; fandom makes some points. however, those points would be better said by anyone but awsten knight, given his willingness to feed into obsessive fan behaviors and then openly complain about them later. also i hate waterparks, and i say that as sincerely as someone with 14 pictures of them on her wall can say it. im staring at them all right now and theyre staring back at me. i would fight mr waterpark unprompted.

actually i had genuinely never realized just how little story riku has in the worlds during dream drop distance like. yes all the worlds are short in this game but all of them are slightly longer on sora's side, except for the grid, where riku's is longer, and traverse town (both visits), where theyre about equal, and even the world that never was is only longer on riku's side after the drops are disabled because sora fell into the darkness

like. i can't believe it's taken me this long to realize it, but they really were pushing at the whole "riku is a dream eater saving sora behind the scenes" in nearly every world in the game, and the only world where the main plot is front and center on riku's side is the grid, where sora is too caught up in trying to restore rinzler to tron to take down clu, and it's up to riku to defeat him and commantis, and so, by having the story on riku's side, he once again saves sora

it's just. i had never noticed this before because the only time ive ever completed the game, i played every world as sora first, and by complete accident really, this time around i finished each world with riku first. and it was around country of the musketeers, where everything literally takes place backstage on riku's side that i went "wow this really makes no fucking sense not having played sora's side first huh" so it's almost like. the game wants you to play as sora in the worlds first, i mean. why wouldn't you? hes the main protagonist of the series after all. because if you play as riku first you start to realize that riku's entire story in this game hinges on sora - his actions and his dreams, quite literally, are what drives almost the entirety of the plot of riku's side of the game, and it's less obvious when you come at it having already gotten the context from sora's side

traverse town is really the only world where you can play it (the second visit especially) in either order and it still makes sense, but honestly i feel that has more to do with joshua's general fuckery than anything else lmfao

either way, traverse town revisited is really the only world where sora and riku are explicitly working together instead of separately, oddly enough given the reveal that theyre two distinct worlds. it's the only world where the interactions between the two go back and forth more than once as they both work on funneling spellican to the third district

even in symphony of sorcery, it's less of a "we're working together" and more of an "oh shit we just so happened to be doing the same thing", because in traverse town they have the shithead (affectionate) and his portals to act as a sort of go-between, and so it's also the only world where each of them are absolutely certain the other is there the whole time that they're there - again, because of josh

and of course, it all comes to a head in the world that never was, where sora falls to the darkness and riku, having fought his own again and won, again, has to bring him back, bringing with it the dream eater reveal and the reveal that despite what the game wanted you to believe, despite the fact that most of the tangible, movie-given plotlines were on sora's side, the main protagonist of 3d is not sora.

it's riku, the one who has spent, not just the whole game, but the whole series behind the scenes, saving our dumbass protagonist whenever his ditziness or large heart got in the way of himself

idk man 3d was just. very strange in a lot of ways, yes but. it's still deep if you scratch the surface, and i just. really fuckin love riku and i love how the end of 3d turns everything on its head to really give him a moment in the limelight

- rhys popping up during the wedding scene was *chef’s kiss* and i noticed that he didn’t “claim” her as he said he would for like three months after everything. i suspect he was being a good person and literally letting her live her life. also for loving someone, tamlin was super chill and just kind of let her go??? idk i thought there would be more of a fight??? when feyre was literally like why are your claws retracting man?? fight for me??? hello??? but then again rhys is definitely more powerful than tamlin and probs some unspoken laws and such between high lords i guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ anyways tamlin aint shit

- page 296-298! fucken shook me to my core. that self awareness, that confrontation, she identified the core of everything and it was such a turning point and im just so proud of her!!! She's recognizing her traumas and is healing!!!!!!!!!!

- yeah i immediately ship cassian and nesta; i hope she fucks shit up in the next book  😀 😀 😀 😀

- rhys is such a strong leader and im just -- baby deserves all the love. He's really good at plotting. He really made feyre learn all these things so they can nurture their love but also be a strategic advantage its interesting that even tho theres love there he still treats her like a weapon

- the joy in his rhys eyes when they winnowed into his regular ass town house that feels super lived in. and his friends banging on the door like he isn’t the feared night court high lord that he is. that was so refreshing to see that hes a regular person and not that high lord man who lives in a near empty mansion. he puts on a mask for everyone but he himself is just a regular fae.  

- reading about the peace that velaris was able to live through was beautiful. i imagined a city like san francisco with the hills and views of the ocean but kind of like the peace found in super small towns or cities in asia; maybe even some european cities (which is prob where this location is inspired by but i haven’t visited many euro cities). the scenes of ppl dining out, making art and music and just chilling is so lovely esp given our current pandemic. art is so treasured there and im like thats the epitome of a great society isn’t it? being able to do things because you just can without the pain of financial insecurity, civil unrest, etc. i definitely would love and die and for a society like that. its just so wonderful. i was filled w happiness while reading those scenes. :)

- rhys and his inner circle taking feyre out into the town and just being casual. nobody treats them like theyre royalty or anything special. theyre just a regular group of friends who enjoy hanging out. its super nice and nostalgia inducing esp during this pandemic when friends are so far away and not like it used to be.

- when rhys immediately saw how under weight and dead freye looked when she was in spring court -- AND IT WAS THE FIRST THING HE SAID TO HER WHEN HE SAW HER THROUGH THE DOOR WHILE TAMLIN DIDNT FUCKEN NOTICE

- i also take back my frustrations in book 1 when freye always wondering around the grounds in spring court esp during calanmai. i thought it was because the author needed to move the story forward but its just freye. she doesnt sit still and now that shes w rhys, we are seeing soooooo many things about prythian and thats beautiful. tamlin was truly a hinderance huh

- rhys sent her music when she was in the cell in Under The Mountain which was found in velaris. maybe he wasnt risking a lot but he just showed her a glimpse of the forbidden world right under aramantha’s nose holy shit he saved her from destruction!

- when rhys had his nightmare and feyre came to comfort him and kissed him on the cheeks and gave him such tenderness made my heart sing~

- rhys is literally opposite of tamlin is soooo many ways. RHYS DID THINGS OUT OF LOVE, WHILE TAMLIN DID THINGS FOR LOVE. everything from how rhys made sure feyre can grow into who she is meant to be, to how he introduces her to his friends and how he interacts w everyone in his court, how he handles pain, everything is so different than tamlin. tamlin feels pain and just bulldoze over things, doesn’t think about how his actions are hurting others even as he is hurting. he doesn’t talk, he doesn’t share, he doesn’t try to get himself or feyre out of this misery and just sees threats everywhere and hits them. he was also supper passive honestly. no doubt hes riddled w guilt and grief but can’t figure out how to handle it so he uses feyre as his crutch where if he can “save” her he will be free smh

- rhys PAYS feyre!! HE GAVE HER FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE AND RESPECT FOR HER WORK!! THE INDEPENDENCE THAT TAMLIN DIDNT FUCKEN GIVE.

- the throne room scene was steamy af this time its fine because there was ~consent~ and also because we see the dynamic and growth between the two and how they work together. this was great although I was kind of like pls get a room tho

- LUCIEN AND ELAINE HOLY FUCK WHAT A LEFT FIELDER i hope this is the push that will propel lucien to defy tamlin. going back to the contrast between how tamlin vs his court and rhys vs his court, rhys has a group of unwavering loyal friends and are treated equally esp letting them joke around so much and it feels like a casual group of friends hanging out. tamlin has just as much loyalty from lucien but theres still a power structure that tamlin maintains. luciens words doesn’t have much weight whereas rhys’s friends do. both tamlin and rhys have so much power and sway and similarity in traumas and tragedy but both execute things completely differently. tamlin only wants to upload what he is familiar with, maybe what he thinks his father wants whereas rhys actively tries to think of something better, to change the system regardless of how hard it is.

- how about we let az and cassian live in peace. Those boys had to deal w the blunt of literally everything. from being the only shield in valeris to poison/hurt wings against the king, just beat up all the time 🥺

I read all 600 damn pages in like 2.5 days and I was loving it the entire time! My heart sored when feyre and Rhys were getting close and starting to break down their walls and really connect. This was a truly good enemies to lovers, slow burn tale and the drama is so great. There were good stakes that changes a character and their behavior and a good balance of action and excitement but at the same time so many little moments that let u see the character and how they interact w each other and the world. a lot of big plot moments, slice of life moments, a bit of romance and comedy. overall, an amazing book but super long. thus far this is my favorite book and im hoping the rest of the books can be just as charming and lovely but not too heart breaking. i hope rhys and feyre makes it. i cannot predict what to expect in the other books in the series (isn’t there gonna be 8 books total???)

Can you tell me more about gawain and lancelot in the arthurian myths? I really ship then in FGO and I heard that they are bestfriends

ok this is straight up going to be an essay without the revisions so just a stream of consciousness on my thoughts of how their relationship is handled in both fate and then the legends themselves since fate pulls a lot yet changes some key aspects that really makes their relationship what it is. it kinda goes from a one sided pinning for an idiot who doesnt comprehend love to a more. theyre just bros. which kinda makes me upset anyways. under the cut. im so sorry for hwo long this is gonna be i have a lot to say about gawain and lancelot. 

ok honestly i think fgo handles their relationship pretty well from what ive seen. they genuinely are just bros too stupid to realize the other is flirting with them in their own ways which is fucking hilarious. i think the only thing that bugs me about how fate actually likes. has them interact is they remove like. the greatest bit of their friendship and i think make it just about the war between them at the end. i cant say for certain but from what i can figure out i think they reduce gawain and lancelots conflict at the end of the main story to just completely them fighting and gawain dying via lancelots wound? but i dont know for certain dont quote me on this. this both a) removes all the REAL tragedy of this situation of both of them just being really fucked up over grief and regrets stirred by arthur in the first place and b) completely ignores one of the best bit of gawain characterization in le morte, gawain forgiving his literal best friend on his death bed and pleading for his return, to come back and mourn for him, to try to save whats left of the world they both helped build and protect. in an adaptation of le morte (which fate lore mostly is) i think gawains final letter is NEEDED to complete his arc and his like. entire character since malory (and then thus fate) spends more time focused on lancelot. 

like just pulling from their dialog w each other in the My Room things, gawain talks about his regret and immaturity over... not forgiving lancelot? what . and lancelot just offers to play chess which is extremely funny. (on another note hwy does fate gawain hate bors. i ltierally can not figure this out at all why is he so mean to his best friends cousin theyre bros.... theyre bros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

anyways now onto the legends because this isnt about fate. fuck fate i hate fate all of my homies hate fate. im gonna focus MOSTLY on le morte since that connects to fates version more and pull some quotes from other legends i have memorized but there is absolutely more, and the vulgate delves into it a bit more but i havent ... gotten that far im so sorry the prose merlin is kicking my ass. 

the thing to note is gawain (excluding guenevere) was kinda the first person to show lancelot respect when he came to court. gawain kinda took him under his wing for a bit, and they end up VERY close. they have a relationship built off of respect and understanding for each other and it ends up being one of lancelots only Real friendships throughout most legends since he has issues w communication and understanding intention that i could (and will) rant about for hours so i wont delve too into it rn. but like. theyre arthurs best knights basically. troyes will say otherwise and say eric and yvaine are better than lancelot but troyes is fucking stupid and a whore, and most sources will tell you its gawain and lancelot (most sources favor lancelot over gawain due to the french influence on some later literature, and le morte is on the lancelot side due to being pulled a lot from the post vulgate, which pulls from the vulgate, aslo called the lancelot-graal cycle. its a whole thing)

but basically for a lot of the main legends you have two Absolute Best Bros who would literally do anything for the other, one being extremely horny and the other being so hopelessly inept when it comes to communication he doesnt understand how love works. theyre a wonderful pair :-) im kidding theyre so fukcing stupid watching them interact is like watching a car crash. its fucking disastrous and you want to yell at them to just beat the shit out of each other homoerotically and understand their feelings (which they do! wow! shout out to le morte!) anyways to keep this from getting too long lets go over some fun gawain quotes about his Best Friend. Who he thinks about a lot. but like... in a no homo way. he swears.

anyways: tldr lancelot and gawain are in love even if both of them are too stupid to realize it. thats basically their entire relationship. everything goes to shit after lancelot accidently kills gareth and gaheris because lancelot too thinks of them as his brothers and is so torn up about it he lets everything happen. gawain starts a war with him because he would rather die than face the music. like its insane.... they should kiss. fate kinda gets this ok, but i think they should have had them just more homoerotic at every given moment because they Are. thanks for listening to my ted talk. im sorry im like this.
