Sudden realization that we now have a Smol Cloud Quintet of kids on the Luofu.

Warning: contains minor spoilers for version 1.5 content.

After Huohuo's debut and the recent Trailblaze Continuance + Event, I've noticed that a few recurring faces seem to parallel the good ol' High Cloud Quintet of the Luofu, be it by accident or on purpose. And if you know me, then you may have noticed I really like to connect the dots (or in some cases, make up headcanon dots for funsies), so I had to put these thoughts into words.

Going clockwise from the center, we have:

1) The High Elder of the vidyadhara, well-known for proficiency in healing arts, designated mother hen, and.... significantly shorter than everyone else in the group. Poor Bailu. At least she gets to be a short gremlin, and that's neat! Go cause mischief, queen!

2) A talented swordsman who aspires to be the Sword Champion and has an affinity for ice. And for throwing sharp objects as an attack. Kinda funny how Jing Yuan is the only one of Jingliu's disciples that doesn't do that, and yet his own apprentice picks up the habit anyway.

3) A newbie Cloud Knight of somewhat traditional upbringing, who happens to be really impressed by their superior and gets noticed by them in turn at some point (see Sushang's About Yanqing line, and the latter calling for assembly when he joins a team with her specifically).

4) A foxian who's known to be very good at her job, but gets into a lot of trouble and earns a nickname for exactly that (Cursed One for Huohuo, Starskiff Killer for Baiheng), and still miraculously scrapes by every unfortunate encounter.

5) A crafty, short-lived outlander whose home planet was destroyed in their childhood, with them being taken to the Xianzhou as a result, and then rising to fame thanks to their creativity and fiery spirit. They also befriend the aforementioned newbie Cloud Knight, except there's lots of squabbles and teasing involved.

Personally I think they should all be friends. A silly lil group that circumvents the law and gets up to shenanigans. Half of them are already besties in canon too, so it's not particularly farfetched, and the potential interactions between the rest are fun to think about!

He knows the type of snacks that you like, and the kind of clothes you like so whenever whenever you guys are out shopping, he’ll see some things while he’s walking around bring them back to you and hold them up for your judgment

He’s a big-time cuddler it’s add onto the golden retriever energy. Yes, he does lay on top of you. You groaned as you sprawled yourself across a couch. For the last week you had to put up with Kafka and Silver Wolf’s shenanigans, your boyfriend, Blade, having left for a mission. You glanced over at the balcony, seeing Kafka and Silver Wolf talking. Recently Silver Wolf had hacked into Herta Space Station for some kind of cartridge. You didn’t care though, you were just so bored.

After Kafka rescued Blade from the Xianzhou the Stellaron Hunters had been playing it safe, just biding their time until the right moment. But you didn’t know when that right moment was going to be! You groaned, throwing your arm over your face. You missed Silver Wolf leaving, Kafka asking about Elio, and Blade returning.

Wait…

You sat up when you felt a tug on your arm, seeing Blade hovering over you. He tugged your arm again and forced you to stand up, dragging you to your shared room. You were confused, not even a hello? You just obediently followed him, not saying a word. Once you two were alone he wrapped his arms around you, pressing his face into the crook of your neck. “I missed you to, Bladie.” You laughed, stepping back and pulling him onto your bed. Blade sighed at the nickname, Kafka had called him that once and now everyone was doing it.

You hummed, combing your fingers through his hair. “How’d the mission go?” Blade shifted so he was resting his chin on your chest, red eyes staring back at you. “Well,” He mumbled out, “I don’t want to talk.” He brought a hand to your face, he wasn’t usually this cuddly, but you didn’t complain. “Just wanna lay here?” Blade nodded, closing his eyes. You continued to comb your fingers through his hair, slowly getting any knots out. When you reached his bangs you pressed a hand to his cheek, smiling when he leaned into it.

You pushed Blade’s bangs away from his face, admiring your boyfriend. “I love you.” You muttered, placing a kiss on Blade’s forehead. He just hummed in response, arms wrapping around your neck. Eventually he returned the statement, moving up to press his face into your neck. You felt him place small kisses on your neck and jaw, laughing softly when his breath tickled you.

At some point Blade had dozed off in your arms, you didn’t know when but you didn’t mind. You rubbed circles in his back, letting him sleep as you knew he almost never did when on missions.

Head canons ~

✦ I personally don’t see Blade as a big fan of PDA, probably hates it if I’m being entirely honest.

✦ But he’s glued to your side if possible, just wanting to be near you. He says it’s to protect you if needed but we both know that’s not true.

✦ When in private he will flop over and just lay on you, pressing his face into your chest or neck.

✦ Loves giving soft kisses favorite places are your neck and temple. Will kiss your hand if you offer it.

✦ Poor boy can not give you a normal smile, always looks a bit deranged when he smiles. If you seem spooked by it he’ll feel bad, please tell him you don’t mind it.

✦ Loves it when you touch and play with his hair, just melts when you comb your fingers through it.

✦ Doesn’t seem like a big fan of verbal “I love you”s to me. I think he’d show his love through touch and spending time with you.

Everyone: Hey Cal, why don’t you just cut open doors with your lightsaber?

Cal: Once I saw some clones try to open a door with a laser torch. There was fuel leak on the other side. The explosion took out the entire port engine.

Cal: Prauf and I found a door cut open with a lightsaber, about a four foot diameter hole. We’d spent a week stripping sensor banks, the big ones. They didn’t fit through the hole, and the door was welded shut, so we had to move them by mag-cart. Half our cut for the salvage went to the cart rental because of that broken door. That was a hungry month.

Cal: Heard about a Jedi who got sucked into space cause he cut holes in all the bulkheads, then a vulture droid punctured the hull. Bad way to go if you ask me.

Cal: My Master would tell me there’s always another path; the foolish force their way through while the wise walk around. He also said it was a good way to get shot in the back. Can’t block blaster fire if your saber is stuck in the door.

Ok so. This is less concrete thoughts and more scattered ideas but.

Dathomirian Zabrak biology speculations/thoughts!

While at first glance it looks like males are the only ones who have different skin colors and the females are all pale, we do see at least one Nightsister with darker skin (the one whose facial markings are white and resemble a skull), meaning skin pigmentation is present in both but manifests differently in males vs females!

(This is much like birds where the females are the neutral-colored ones while the males have more vibrant colorations and are expected to impress the females to be picked as a mate)

And it's very curious to me that iridonians have very human-like skin tones, while dathomirians ended up having two extremes, either having very vibrant skin ranging from yellow to red, or very pale skin ranging from white to dark gray, both outside the human (and iridonian) range

I think if a transgender dathomirian had HRT their skin color would gradually change with it (much like how birds can change coloration depending on their hormones)

The fact that males have no hair and females have no horns seems very random to me and I will not be thinking about the hair thing but I will say:

Have you looked at Mother Talzin's head shape. Have you seen how strangely tall it looks. What if. What if females "lack" horns because instead of growing at just a few specific points their entire skulls grow and elongate over their lifetimes.

This makes sense if you consider that they live in a "dense jungle" type environment where things (fruits, branches, predators..) can fall on their heads all the time. Having a thicker skull would probably help avoid a cracked skull from constantly getting hit in the head by falling stuff

(No idea what about the hair thing though. Maybe it's something to do with gene interactions. Like whatever gene makes their skin so saturated also deactivates the "have hair" genes. or maybe nightsisters are all wearing wigs and none of them actually grow hair)

Speaking of the geography of the planet, I think it's pretty sad that we never really get a good look of what the Nightbrothers' region looks like outside the village and some mountain terrain around it. Is it more sunny than the Nightsisters' side and that's why their skin adapted to have more color while the females' adapted to lose color? Or is it a seasonal thing and we just never got to see another season in the shows? Or is the village just built in a place that's so high the mist doesn't reach it? We get the sense that it's cold, at least at night, so why are they dressed in such light clothes? In fact, is it hot where the Nightsisters live, or is the entire species more adapted to colder temperatures and that's why they all wear so little?

What would happen if you crossed a dathomirian zabrak with a species that also has non-human skin tones but not linked to sexual dimorphism. Like what if you had a pantoran-zabrak cross, since pantorans are on the opposite side of the color wheel. Do you think they'd be an extremely vibrant blue or yellow-orange-red, or a middle ground, like green? Or perhaps an extreme outside both species' range, like purple? Do you think the "no saturation" gene would take over and make them gray no matter the gender?
