#statistics posts

It’s been one year since we posted our Warrior Cats Rarepairs Collection, and for its anniversary, @foxstride and I decided to post a meta update. This includes various statistics, including how many fics got posted in the last year, how many rarepair ships currently have canonical tags on Ao3, and which ships have graduated to not being so rare anymore!
The work is two chapters, and in chapter two you can see some of the nittier, grittier statistics.
If you want to check out our spreadsheet you can also take a look at ships that got newly wrangled this year, how many fics each ship has that are wrangled, and more!

another super insulting part of the watcher situation i haven't rly seen ppl addressing much
ryan deadass saying smth like "nobody else on youtube has made tv quality content"
like... i really feel like it's important to highlight that bc not only do they obviously have no respect for their audience, but that statement shows they have no respect for their peers in the industry, either.
not to mention it is a shining example of bleeding arrogance to such a high degree, you will straight up fucking lie bc you're truly convinced you're that special when you're anything but.
there's been NUMEROUS online creators who were recognized by entertainment industry workers BECAUSE they made tv quality content & even full stop blockbuster quality content.
bo burnham started on youtube & is now one of the most wellknown & loved standup comedians of our generation, with numerous netflix specials & even a movie he wrote & directed under his belt.
the try guys, fellow ex-buzzfeed employees, had their own tv specials on food network (based off their youtube shows, btw) & a documentary made about them as well
rosanna pansino has also been on numerous food network shows both as a host & a judge
quinta brunsun, another fellow ex-buzzfeed employee, went on to create her own whole ass sitcom that has been highly praised
matpat cameo'd in the fnaf movie because of his theories & multiple other fnaf creators had small cameos through the employee of the month board easter egg
markiplier made multiple high-quality shows on youtube & is now working on a highly anticipated movie (he was also planned to cameo in the fnaf movie but couldn't due to conflicting schedules with his own movie)
hot ones got their own tv gameshow due to their popularity & they are still one of the most wellknown, beloved & respected internet shows
many short films made on youtube went on to premiere at film festivals & even in theaters
the hit horror film "talk to me" was created by youtubers rackaracka
webseries of actual fucking tv shows have also existed for literal decades
the list goes on.
to seriously think that overproduced bullshit is all you need to make "tv quality content" is not only tone-deaf, but shows they do not even know what they're talking about. many tv shows & huge blockbuster movies are made with absolutely microscopic budgets & small teams, & they still get praised & awarded for the passion, dedication, & creativity that shined brightly under those restrictions.
the blair witch project is probably the most wellknown & highly praised example of this, but it is far from the Only example
it is a whole other slap in the face, again ESPECIALLY when puppet history is one of their most popular shows, to spit in the face of internet history. to see the success of their predecessors, even ppl they fucking worked with at buzzfeed, & deny them of all their success & efforts to get where they ended up.
no, y'all are not the first people to make "tv quality content" on the internet. FAR from it. because your crap isn't even genuine "tv quality".
but you are the first ones to ever disrespect not only your audience, but your own fucking industry & your peers on this level.
& you are the first & i sorely hope the only fuckwads dumb enough to pull a stunt this fucking stupid, out of touch & utterly tone deaf.

That viral video from last month of a giraffe pushing a tortoise was interesting to me because I saw it in French & Spanish corners of the internet and everyone was referring to the animals in the video as 'she' since giraffe & tortoise are feminine words, meanwhile on the English-speaking internet I saw a minority of people referring to them as 'it' or 'they', an overwhelming majority using masculine words, and almost no one use 'she'
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Similarly romance language speakers humanised these animals using women's names while English speakers used men's names:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And of course it would have been different had the giraffe been an elephant (masculine word) but yeah I find it interesting that when it comes to personifying animals and things, speakers of gendered languages will go 50% masculine 50% feminine due to grammatical gender, while speakers of a non-gendered language with a neutral pronoun will go like 80% masculine 18% neutral 2% feminine.
It must feel weird to learn a gendered language and have to accept that a door is 'she', but it also feels weird to learn a non-gendered language like English and then scroll down hundreds of comments under an animal video and all the animals are 'he'. I'm reminded of a cartoon I saw on tumblr once with a speaking lightbulb, and all the comments referred to it as 'he' and a 'guy' (in french & spanish, people would call it she.) I wonder how it affects the way you frame the world in your mind? you ask a French kid to personify a spoon or a mouse or a raindrop, it's going to be a female character by default. I feel like that's something English speakers rarely consider—that compared to languages that are 'visibly', officially gendered in a 50/50 way, English is less neutral, and more masculine-gendered. When anglophones learn about grammatical gender they tend to react like "why is a chair a 'she' that's absurd?", but when the context calls for it they'll call a lightbulb 'he' without thinking about it

Here we go again, more stats of Ethogirls and Etho
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some things to note:
They each have a different numbers of episodes out, so in order to keep this fair I took the total of times they say a Hermits name and then graphed what the distribution is
I have not counted their own names in these graphs because I didn't count how many times Etho said his own name (my bad)
Both Bdubs and Joel say their own names more than any other name (I will include their graphs with the stats that include their own names under this)
Etho and Bdubs mention each other the most, and Joel mentions Gem the most and Gem mentions Grian the most
Etho barely says Joel's name in his videos, which is kinda funny to me, Bdubs says Joel's name more often than Etho, both in raw numbers and when put into percentages
Joel, of all the three Ethogirls, says Etho's name the least in his videos compared to how often he says other Hermit's names
Grian is the only Hermit Gem has mentioned in every single one of her episodes so far
I will reblog this post with the raw data so people can double check my measurements
I give my full permission to post this stuff on twitter as long as you don't tag the creators or anything
So if Joel, Bdubs's or Gem's own names are included in their stats, these are their graphs:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In conclusion, Etho is a Bdubs fan first and foremost Bdubs is the biggest Ethogirl so far Joel is a Gemboy and the least Ethogirl of the Ethogirls Gem is a Grian fan

Yall do realize to be as high rank, rich, and to win even somewhat consistently/be good at gambling, you can't just have great luck-
Youd have to have a *damn good* understanding of statistics, reading people (especially body language), and psychology (yes, including how to abuse it to manipulate people and get what you want)
And to do all that without a formal education? That takes some SERIOUS fucking work/skill
So stop calling aventurine stupid or "low iq"
Theres a damn good reason ratio- mister i cant stand looking at idiots- wasnt wearing his plaster head around aventurine, and it's because he isnt fucking stupid
And if aventurine is playing stupid, you should be fucking worried.

Everyone's afraid of clowns but I think you have to understand what context they're in matters, for your own health and safety, like, for example:
Clowns at a circus/fair/carnival- this is their natural habitat, they are happy and content. As long as you keep a respectful distance you're completely safe
Clowns at a birthday party/rodeo- off leash but highly trained and disciplined, their trainer is nearby for emergencies. They have been bred for close contact and even enjoy interaction with people
Clowns at a store grand opening- this is a concrete zoo for them. For your own safety do not approach too quickly or they might startle and lash out
If you do see a clown in the wild, stop, and back away slowly. If the clown begins making balloon animals be prepared to fight, you cannot run, they are much quicker than you and WILL catch up. A quick strike to the nose should be enough to subdue them. In the event of a clown bite seek medical care immediately, as symptoms will begin setting in quickly.
If you have not sought a medical professional within 24 hours of the bite, the changes will be permanent. In a case like this, trained professionals will escort you to the nearest clown College where you will be accepted into the fold. But this is a worse case scenario, and only about 10% of clown bites have this outcome :)

House of Finwë family tree, based on the later version from HoME. I chose to stop at Elrond & Elros' generation, but later added Arwen as a side note, which is why her brothers are not included.

Y’know before things went to shit a popular topic amongst jewish users on this site was about cultural Christianity, and a large part of that discussion was pointing out that certain ways of talking/acting/thinking were rooted in Christian culture, and were not culturally neutral, and the expectation of Jews (and people from non-culturally-Christian backgrounds in general) to conform to them was an expectation to assimilate and abandon our own cultural ways of talking/acting/thinking.
And this collective conversation has largely been abandoned as Jews on this platform now have much more loud and blatant forms of antisemitism to worry about
But I can’t really stop thinking about how ostracization, public shaming, guilt, conversational shut-downs, harassment, and throwing ad hominem buzzwords at various people to not have to engage directly with opposing ideas enough to form an actual counterargument have all been a serious issue with how people operate in left-leaning online spaces for a long time now, and how those things are also very common methods of group control in a lot of the more… well, controlling and loudly bigoted sects of American Christianity, with roots in American Puritanism.
And I think a lot of people who want to think of themselves as leftists or even activists should really take a step back and more deeply analyze their methods/praxis of realizing their ideals and how they interact with other people, whether or not they’re actually willing to be constructive about things, etc.
Like is burning bridges, shutting down conversations, refusing to engage intellectually with things you don’t like, callouts, etc… actually helpful and useful? Why is this the method so many default to, and where does it come from?
