can we stop the trend of putting traumatized and mentally unstable characters into romantic relationships as their “happy endings”?

Ok, what’s up with the cartoons that I watched as a kid releasing new episodes about dealing with a normal life after an avalanche of trauma that forces the characters to take therapy sessions?

Is anyone else not interested in the love story this season for The Summer I Turned Pretty and instead more emotionally invested in the house being sold, Susannah's death affecting the boys and their brotherhood in addition to their crippled mental health? I feel so bad for them both and really think that they need therapy although I'm sure that's already something most people agree upon. Oh, and I'm living for Taylor's character development. The side characters seem to be serving this time, but I must admit my boy Jeremiah is also slicing through with his own maturity and no one can tell me otherwise. Emotions are slapping hard, and I'm not caring for that terrible love triangle excuse of a storyline.

On this episode of why my bio is my bio:
Reminder that Willy 🤢 is manipulating Scary. She had a net… she most likely thought they were grabbing Taylor.
Anthony did not say anything to Beth.
There’s a reason there’s an AO3 tag called “Willy Stampler is his own warning”!
Okay, end announcement

can we take a moment to talk about how amazing it was that steven starts seeing a therapist in suf? like i've never seen this in children's media. traumatized characters almost never go to therapy. they get good friends and the evil villain is defeated, so their trauma is just kind of pushed aside. some characters get a good arc that allows us to believe that they healed from their trauma. others just brush it under the rug.
but it's so important to let kids know that therapy isn't taboo, it's not this thing that's only reserved for "crazy" people. that's why i hate it when people say that suf "solved everything with a hug" bc they clearly didn't. the hug was there to let steven know that he was not going through this alone, and that he had the support of his loved ones. which is important.
i just appreciate so much that they mention the fact that he's going to therapy in the last episode, and also have him move away from the place that caused him so much trauma, so that he can start anew and start healing. and it upsets me so much that people ignore this to bash on suf for being "unrealistic". this is as realistic and optimistic as you could get.
