hot girl summer prep⋆.ೃ࿔*:･🍉

over the course of the next eight weeks, we should be preparing for our hot girl summer. this post is ofc just to be helpful and just for funsies, to help you feel your most confident and radiant this summer ✨

if i were to break down the most important things to prep for hot girl summer they’d be to work on ur base (skin + body) ur company, and ur wardrobe.

BASE ;

moisturize ur skin after your showers while your skin is still slightly damp, for moisturized and soft skin this summer

if ur not already using sunscreen on your face AND body then what are you even doing? get in the habit of putting sunscreen on ur body to promote a smooth and even skin tone and protect u from the sun ofc

get into a solid workout regimen that u can be consistent with. focus on building ur body to perfection! work out as much as u want, i recommend 3-4 times a week.

my recommendations for soft skin is to use an african net sponge bcuz that always gets me CLEAN. also, use african black soap for glowy skin and use shea butter on ur body while ur skin is still slightly damp.

not only does it smell yummy but it rly REALLY moisturizes you well. i also recommend using it during the summer bcuz the glow that u get from it is REAL.

i’ve elaborated on sunscreen in the bullet points already so let’s go to body building. get into a workout regimen 3-4 times a week. i’ll share some workouts here depending on what u want.

the important thing is that you start NOW so that then by the time it’s summer your gains will be visible and you’ll feel stronger and more confident -> therefore more happy and prepped for ur hot girl summer.

use body scrubs to exfoliate skin and also promote optimal softness bcuz in the summer it’ll be hot and you might wanna show some skin

WARDROBE ;

get onto ur pinterest and start looking for inspo for your summer wardrobe that coincides with ur personal style. use ur fashion binder if u have one to start formulating and thinking of outfits.

create a list of specific pieces that ur looking for (with photos if u can) so that when ur shopping/thrifting u know to get what u want for summer.

the important things for summer from my own fashion binder are bikinis, camisoles and mini skirts + shorts. bcuz i wrote that in my fashion binder i’ll look for and buy those specific clothing pieces for my summer wardrobe. do the same ✨

COMPANY ;

it’s more fun when u spend some parts of ur summer with quality company so make sure to prepare that NOW so that then ur plans go smoothly in the summertime.

now is the time to test the waters and propose ideas with ur friends about what u guys should do together this summer. maybe it’s simply hanging out, or going on a sort of vacation together.

whatever it is, make sure that ur company is not only reliable/responsible but also that they have ur best interest at heart bcuz it’s gonna be hot girl summer and everyone’s gonna be out there 😭 u need someone to have ur back and someone that you can trust.

i don’t wanna get too into the hot girl summer agenda since it’s only april BUT u all can def expect lots of summer content from me. much love 🎀

For the Laicion nation (aka, me and three other people)

I had this illustration commissioned (a big thank you to @lunehowls) for my werewolf AU Laicion fic (still a WIP).

The general pitch is as follows :

AU in which Laios never got to meet his sister again, putting his life on a whole other path, a more desperate one. A military deserter with barely a coin to his name, Laios hitches a ride on a boat to one of the elven continents, where he learns about magical tattoos that binds one’s soul to a wolf’s, effectively making them artificial werewolves. Illegal magic be damned, this feels like the answer to… everything.

In the process, he learns about the existence of an illegal fighting ring in one of the elven cities, where beastmen gladiators gather. Freshly tattooed and without anywhere else to go to, Laios decides to head there, where he meets Lycion, an elf and artificial werewolf gladiator. If they first bond over a simple shared meal, by spending time together (sharing the same room in the barracks, maybe the same bed? gasp) they find that they have a lot in common, notably a shared distaste for the body they were born in, a dysphoria partially remedied by becoming a werewolf.

Character studies if you will #and I still need to fully outline the fic #I know where I'm starting (struggling to choose a POV for that first chapter LOL) and where I'm ending so there's that #and a bunch of disconnected scenes (as we all do ahaha)#anyway. Doing all of this while studying for veterinary school. It's hard. Because I am infected with "loving my D&D characters too much" disease I have decided that my next really big video project is going to be a dramatic retelling of the events of our D&D game (the one Verity comes from).

I'm going to narrate it and I have the other players and DM on board to do voice lines for their characters. I want to storyboard the whole thing. The first video will be the entire first story arc that covers about 6-7 months of the campaign. I've spent most of the weekend turning my rambling campaign recaps into a script and I'm probably about halfway done? The whole thing may end up being close to an hour.

I am so excited.

Having demand avoidance in a medical setting is literally hell. Like, patient autonomy is already absolute ass. It's only made worse when doctors CONSISTENTLY tell you what to do and act like you HAVE to do it instead of consulting with you first like normal fucking people.

#also “”“”medical necessity“”“” is NOT an excuse here.#ive been to plenty of doctors that thoroughly discuss a range/timeline of treatment and explain it IN DETAIL before saying “thats what i-#-recommend“ instead of just going ”okay were gonna do this. im gonna explain the prep to you a mile a minute and if you have any follow up-#-questions im just gonna repeat part of my spiel with no clarification. and if i cant answer your questions too bad :)“#not to mention how many doctors just force you to do things that WILL NEVER WORK #like one therapist tried forcing me to do emdr when i was only IN HER TOWN for the summer and i had no internet access when i was at college #im pretty sure emdr takes several weeks to work and i did not have that kind of time available to me. i couldnt just drop out bc of ptsd.#also the number of times ive had to decline an ESI is stupid. I've already had 2! they didn't work! i had a bad reaction to the meds!#why am i being forced to do it again?#also back surgery. i cant do that because i am a white trash rural kid and our home (which we built ourselves) CANNOT be accessible enough #for spinal surgery recovery. but i went to the surgeon and he was like “thats valid! and also surgery literally wouldnt help you so idk why-#-they sent you here.“ : l It's cool to be right all the time lol #its like. no wonder i developed medical demand avoidance after so much traumatizing and malpracticy bullshit in my life #demand avoidance #medical demand avoidance #chronic illness burnout #chronic illness #chronic pain #medical tw #ptsd #disability #medical neglect #medical trauma #vent #this might be too personal. if i do delete it ill have it rb'd on my boar-deer-whitetrashbutterfly blog first #idk i just havent really been able to find anyone else talking about this specific effect of being chronically ill/disabled.

#kate middleton #sweet kate 😭❤️#without speculating about kate's specific diagnosis BUT as a relative to someone who was struck by this out of the blue last summer:#PLEASE don't let embarrassment get in the way of getting checked for bowel cancer #as someone who works in healthcare talking about bowel movements and feces is SUCH an everyday thing for us #no one will bat an eye if you go see your doctor or the hospital about changes in your stool or pain or bleeding or whatever #no one will think it's funny or embarrassing #instead it can save your life #take it from my granny: the worst thing about a colonoscopy is the laxatives you take for prep ❤️#please see a doctor for: 1. blood in your stool or from the rectum 2. long-lasting changes to your regular pattern of bowel movements #3. unexplained weight-loss 4. unexplained pain in your stomach that doesn't go away 5. any time of lump in your stomach (anywhere really)#6. unexplained tiredness and 7. a feeling that you don't empty your bowels completely #text

feeling Mentally Strong this afternoon so going to brave watching/giffing some of last night's game

#also a little personal update as I've told loads of you about this/moaned about it in tags for a while and you've all been so supportive #v relieved to say after 3 (hellish) years of prep mr sp passed his week long assessment last week and starts his new job soon #very exciting for him career wise. and me sanity wise because even though we still need to move house this summer we don't need to relocate #and because we'll be Considerably Less Poor!!!#only downside is he has to go away for 6 weeks straight may-june to train which is far more time away than usual and I may go mad #esp if we don't make the you know whats and I have no hockey to keep me entertained #but very good news overall and thanks to my lovely friends & mutuals here who have been extremely supportive in my time of monster stress #hilariously he's had to go back to work this weekend even earlier than usual as penance for leaving so it's hockey afternoon for me :)

Since I got a good little handful of asks about it today, I wanted to pop in while I'm waiting on this file to send to my pc and say: I think *most* artists absolutely value comments and support more than they let on. It's a little embarrassing to shout it from the rooftops, or at the very least a slight faux pas, but it's true. In truth, I've been extremely down lately, but logging in to see comments, reblogs, likes, tag comments or getting asks posing fun little questions offer a lot of cheer even when the gloom is hanging a bit heavy. It's like, sure, I'm drawing ultimately for myself-- this comic/these characters are more self-indulgent than the most decadent fondue in existence, but I've also always wanted to work on a project like this when working on various other NDA projects for other people in the past. So the comments and engagement are far from a bother or annoyance, they mean the world to read, instead! So, thank you!

#words #for real when I originally aimed to have chapter 2 ready for launch in the summer and was on track for that #then the shit luck roulette hit every health problem and real life problem seemingly imaginable #I was actually pretty upset over it bc not only did I just want to be doing the thing that made me happy #but I was worried that long of a gap would disappoint everyone #especially when I had a huge stack of pages with finished art already but the letterign and post-prep wasn't done lol #the last little stage and shit-luck roulette went to spinning #so i spent a lot of time drawing in bed waiting on health to sort itself #it sucked but i'm glad to be back in business and grateful for the support

Do you have an opinion on the Great Hunger that took place during Goosefeather's Curse? While I have some issues with the book as a whole despite loving Goosefeather (ex: I didn't like the retroactive vilification of Moonflower when she was just exasperated towards him sometimes during BP. Even as someone who really likes Goosefeather as a character, making his sister much worse to him just for symapthy is :/, especially since he was already forced to become a meddie as a literal small child and immediately ostracized which is sympathetic enough already lol. Not to mention...Stormtail.), I gotta admit seeing the clan resort to eating worms was a interesting and honestly refreshing change of pace compared to the usual "oh no we're all infected with (color)cough!!!!!!!" epidemics.

Oh I love it, I love crises that are more than just colorcough outbreaks. Colorcough outbreaks are so overused they're boring, at LEAST give me some other kinds of infection!

Though this is an odd nitpick but....... I feel like the Great Hunger shouldn't have been in Winter lmao. Humans starve in winter because of failed harvests in the autumn before, or ruined foodstores. They adapted that with Goosefeather's botched refrigeration plan, but, based on the cats being hunters, I think it actually should have been in Summer.

Summer with a heatwave that caused a massive fire, killed the meager prey that managed to breed that spring, and left it so hot that the cats couldn't hunt without heatstroke.

Don't get me wrong, frigid winters with a lot of snowfall would make it hard to hunt and find prey, but it's not like British squirrels hibernate. Neither do rats, mice, blackbirds, robins...

#And they wouldn't be expecting that #They'd do winter prep so they don't have to bust their tails dealing with the snow #Since autumn is so bountiful #But they'd have brief peace with Spring and then get caught by a horrible summer #Warrior Cats Analysis #Summer would NORMALLY be fine #But not with a terrible trio of Bad Spring + Fire + Heatwave #Great Hunger

it's almost officially autumn, which means i have reached the point of my life when i wake up, (try my best to) do things, inter alia refresh the young royals tag for, like, an hour and a half every afternoon to see if there are any updates on the release of the third season, (try my best to) do other things, refresh the young royals tag again full of hope, (make an effort to) sleep. repeat.
