let me project my 'star wars liker' tendencies onto blaine for a minute

- he begs tina to dress up as leia and he dresses up as luke one halloween because they're the space twins and tina is like a sister to him so he's like!!!! and she agrees but ONLY if she can be goth leia (I kinda wanna draw this wait...)

- he rewatches the star wars special of the muppets show every time he's in a sad mood or has a difficult day because it's both of his comfort media all in one :o

- his fanfic is so well researched and he has the star wars vocab all written up in a dictionary so he doesn't accidentally include real world words; coffee is caf, glass is transparisteel etc etc

- he ships luke x wedge

- he runs a successful star wars fan blog on tumblr; kurt follows it and likes all of his posts bc he's a supportive boyfriend, even though he doesn't really get star wars

- he has a collection of lightsabers and keeps them on display at ALL TIMES!!

- he is the only defender of the sims 4: journey to batuu (I've never played that pack I just think blaine would refuse to hate it)

My Top Ten Barbie Movies

With the movie approaching, I'm dubbing this Barbie Month, and pushing back on the Studying part of the Masterpost for a little longer. July is pink party time!

Today, I’m sharing my Top Ten Barbie movies, which I wonder if they’ll be controversial! Share yours, lets compare!

10: Christmas Carol. She cast herself as the villain, we love that! This is unironically a good adaptation of A Christmas Carol. It doesn’t beat the Muppets, but there are many worse adaptations that get way more praise. Eden Starling is a fantastic Barbie-fied Scrooge, and I love Morwenna Banks.

9: Star Light Adventure. I love Star Wars, I love Star Trek, I love big dumb himbos whose entire motivation in life is Eat Food, Drive Fast, Drink Respect Women Juice. Sometimes Barbie movies should be ranked by their Ken, and Prince Leo is just great. Also, a unique sci-fi plot that could only come from a Barbie movie.

8: Spy Squad. Listen, sometimes I just like dumb, fun movies. This is a stellar spy movie with a fun premise, quirky characters, a spy HQ in the H of the Hollywood sign, and the baddie is just their rival in a wig. Its cute, its colourful, they give Barbie a knock-off lightsaber. No complaints.

7: Big City, Big Dreams. We’re finally back to a good, queer-leaning Barbie movie! I love Malibu and Brookln’s dynamic, I think they’re so cute platonically or romantically, and I had fun with Mermaid Magic and Epic Road Trip too. I don’t love the tragic miscommunication moment, but I guess they had to add conflict in the last ten minutes. I love the songs and their final performance enough that all is forgiven.

6: Video Game Hero. I just think its fun, ok? This is the “there’s more than one way to ___” thing that Pink Shoes tried (and I still love, just not enough to Top Ten it) but went the wrong way about in my opinion. Video Game Hero is not a groundbreaking political commentary, or a classic musical, but it just has a special place in my heart.

5: Three Musketeers. I genuinely do not care for any other version of Three Musketeers. No one will ever beat Barbie. I love the secret society of swordfighters, I love that Prince Louis changes his tune by the power of… well, the Power of Four forevermore, I guess. I love that every version of Three Musketeers features precisely 0 muskets, and the Barbie version took that new heights with one of them fully just having ribbons.

4: The Fairytopia Trilogy. I think they get better and better with each iteration. I love the story of a wingless fairy getting wings, and then giving them up selflessly in 1 and 2, and I love that the ultimate message is that of kindness and courage. It’s also absolutely just me being blinded by childhood nostalgia, but Laverna is a top tier villain too.

3: Magic of Pegasus. I have a lot of positive thoughts about this one, but the main one is Aiden!! I think his story is quite unique and complex and he’s one of the strongest love interests of any of th Barbie movies. I also think this one is so pretty and purple, and Cloud Kingdom is glorious, and the quest plot is fantastic.

2: Princess and the Pauper. Now I know this one will not be controversial, except that it’s nt number one! Annaliese and Erika are both delightful, Julian and Dominic too, and even the characters lower on the roster are fun. Not to mention the best songs that make me want to do a full stage production.

1: Princess Charm School. This probably comes as no surprise if you’ve read my essay. I think that the socioeconomic implications are intense, I think that the murder plot is exciting, I think Hadley and Isla as Gardania Unsolved have to be among my favourite Friend Characters, and I think Blair is actually a great character too. I also love Delancey’s redemption, and how it comes from being faced with real-world consequences.

Day 1 (September 1st): A world you’d want to see for the KH4 challenge!

Okay so there are a few worlds I want to see and I have a lot of thoughts, so this post is gonna be a bit long lol

Firstly, I really want KH4 to fill out the ranks of the new seven princesses of heart. We need three more so I propose:

1: Tiana from Princess and the Frog. They included Tangled and Frozen, they should absolutely include PatF, it makes no sense for them not to. Also if anyone deserves the princess of heart title, it’s Tiana. So for the world I propose: exploring the swamp with Tiana and Naveen. I think it would be really cool to explore a swamp, since it’s not really a place KH has done before. Swamp-themed heartless would be super interesting, and getting to protect our frog friends as they go through the swamp would be fun imo. Also I want to see Sora, Donald, and Goofy as swamp creatures

2: Merida from Brave. Not sure where exactly in Merida’s story for the world to start, I’m kinda thinking after the movie. Brave has a really cool world, and I think getting to know Merida and the world post-Brave would be really neat. Also I want to explore the castle. I know KH already has several worlds with castles but I think castles are really cool to explore so I want more of them. Plus Merida as a party member fighting heartless with us would be fucking epic

3: Okay so I think Moana is definitely an obvious pick for the final princess of heart, and I do think it would be a fun world to explore, but given there’s already speculation about a Star Wars world I think it would be so much funnier if the final princess of heart is Leia. Like, yeah we found the last princess of heart! Also she has a gun. (“Blaster.” It’s a gun.) I have… a lot of thoughts about a potential star wars world.

I think the world icon in gummi space should be like a cluster of planets—maybe even separate enough that you can use your gummiship to land on individual worlds. But I honestly think it would make more sense to have it be a cluster and land on the world as a whole, and then once you’re in the world you can use the millennium falcon to travel between planets. I think a mission or two piloting the millennium falcon, maybe even fighting space heartless would be fucking epic. (This should also unlock a millennium falcon gummiship blueprint.)

Lightsaber keyblade.

I’m not personally that big a fan of KH worlds basically replaying their movie plots, so I think this should take place between A New Hope and Empire Strikes Back. That way we can explore new content, while still worrying about the empire, and the gang is all together with the millennium falcon.

Completely disregarding what I just said, I think the world taking place during A New Hope would be pretty cool if done right. Getting to explore the Death Star and breaking Leia out? Helping take down the Death Star in space? (Potentially even from the gummiship?) I think it’d be fun to start the world by getting arrested by stormtroopers (a la space paranoids) and Sora just. Using his keyblade to break out

Princess Leia as a party member. Like. The other people too, sure. But mainly Leia. If KH villains are still trying to collect the princesses of heart I think it would be so fucking funny if one of them showed up to attack Leia and she just fucking shot them in the face

Sora, Donald, and Goofy would fit right in among aliens

Something about Donald and Goofy interacting with Chewbacca is very compelling

The board game C3PO plays with Chewie on the Millennium Falcon could be a fun minigame

Another world that I REALLY want that’s not related to the Princesses of Heart: a world based on The Muppet Show. I cannot express how much I want this in KH. Getting Kermit or Fozzie or Miss Piggy as a party member. Exploring Muppet Studios. Statler and Waldorf mocking the player (potential fourth wall break?? I think it would be so funny if there was a fourth wall break in the Muppets world of all places). I think there are two ways this could go and I can’t decide which one I want more:

Sora, Donald, and Goofy show up at Muppet Studios to find the crew going crazy because their guest star canceled last minute. Sora offers for three of them to be the guest stars, and someone asks if they can sing. *cue flashbacks to Atlantica KH2* Sora’s like yeah, totally! I think it would be really fun to have Sora and crew be performing and then heartless show up and they have to fight them off in a way that seems theatrical enough to be part of the performance. Mainly want this idea because Kermit saying “with our very special guest stars, Sora, Donald, and Goofy!” in the Muppets intro theme would mean everything to me

Sora, Donald, and Goofy show up in the world as part of the crew. Which of course means. That they are muppets. Muppet Sora. PLAYABLE MUPPET SORA. Seeing Muppet Sora would make my entire goddamn YEAR. Okay that’s it that’s the post I thought of Muppet Sora and will be no longer thinking for the rest of the day :)

What a good day!!

I usually only shout to the void when it’s a bad time but I want to shout from the rooftop that it was a good day!!!

I got enough sleep!! Work was so fun! People gendered me correctly lol which is honestly less common that you’d expect! My entire class today had great energy! My one wild student didn’t injure himself or anyone else(a high bar to clear)! I fanboyed about Star Wars with tons of kids! I had an exhausting Shii-Cho lightsaber workout for two hours after work! I got an inch lower in my front splits!! I’m in the bath with my favorite red wine(which is in a cup, not the bath)!!!!

And after I’m going to play video games and watch muppet treasure island!

4. whatever your plan for the cgi was, cut 10% off the top AT LEAST (a la coco chanel’s “take one accessory off before you leave the house” rule)

5. hand to hand combat and/or real filmed combat is NOTICEABLY better and we don’t talk about it enough. lasers do not impact the same way a fist does. yeah a lightsaber is fucking cool as hell but what if this character just got their shit rocked instead? this isn’t a hard and fast rule, but i’d love to see more people use it. (ex. that scene in bridget jones’ diary where hugh grant gets his ASS KICKED by mr. fucking darcy- incredible)

6. “it’s more expensive to–” just do it. if the money you are about to save is cutting corners by cutting out other artists in a collaborative creative process, just spend the money.

7. any and all rules go out the window for the muppets. goddamn i love those little fuckers and their silly lil ditties.

hi i just finished and I decided to write down my thoughts while watching part one :) It's very sporadic and over the place but here it is

I liked how we could see a bit of the stuff they were exposed to, from a bit of the lesson to the school itself as they ran through it

Its so big, you can only imagine the resources they have in there

Immediately when i saw the clones my heart dropped

The jedi master was so badass with it though i wish we could have seen more of her

The way the director panned the camera made me feel like I was there, running with the kiddos

Like the kids were obviously distressed that their master died

Some sketches of the padawan oc. Just some flat colors. A little bit of shading for face.

Her name is Savri Nam. Her natural force abilities focus on empathy and connection, to the point she created a psychic bond with the temple after a Temple Guard told her it was possible. This is also the reason she is with the Jedi Order.

At seven years old her parents abandon her at the temple, and while they were trying to enroll her in one of the specific schools/foster homes for force sensitive children, she was staying at the temple. The Temple Guard who found her mentioned that temple guards sometimes have a hard time with 'individual identity' due to their very literal connection with the temple that leads to a pseudo-hive mind (uh, force sensitives are kind of eldritch creatures, it's fine). In all the intelligence that a seven-year-old has (which is surprisingly a lot, it just never focuses in an intelligent place) she tries to bond with the temple, and then dose. The Council of Reassignment decided to just keep her after that. She'll probably grow out of it eventually.

She eventually ends up as Master Brosam Gumhutc's padawan (who's life was equally chaotic) , who is a Shadow and part of a crew of theives. This is where this all becomes a Leverage Fusion AU. She never learns the Jedi Mind Trick™ (it was Obi-wan who trademarked it on behalf of the Order) because she learned to be a grifter and a forger and sometimes people question if her Master is even force sensitive, he is, we swear, it's just been a while since he's done anything visibly force manipulate-y.

Her main form is Makashi, because she learned the basics at from Count Dooku during a con when he was trying to be a good little politican and fund public sports for younglings, except they aren't called younglings outside of the order, but there are other people who give their children metal swords instead of super hot light/plasma/somthing swords and call it a sport. So yeah, Count Dooku taught fencing for a bit, and it's a lot like Makashi. He also introduced Savri and historical fencing manuals, and Savri's lightsaber instructors after that will never forgive Dooku.

Durring the Clone Wars she is devestated to find out Dooku is part of CIS, as she belived he was genuinely trying to change the corrupt system when she had last seen him, and to find out he is siding with anti-union conglomerates in this power grab is horrible. And his own apprentice isn't getting a living wage, healthcare, or paid time off. (it takes her a stupid long time to realize Dooku is a sith lord)

She works with the Courant Guard in data analytics/gathering and code breaking. She's only been ropped into a few diplomatic missions, since she once got arrested for assaulting a senator, a police officer (the starwars equivelent), and a private citizen (he was CEO of something). She is also constantly and loudly critical of the senate, all politicans really, but she has to deal with the senate the most.

Her favorite show as a youngling was the Muppets, and once put the theme song on repeat for 40 hours to get Anakin to leave her alone.

This is my 5th edition to my Star Wars content review, meaning I will be reviewing The Empire Strikes Back. ESB (The Empire Strikes Back) is the favorite of many fans, and rightfully so. ESB was interesting for its time, because in this movie, the bad guy wins. Usually in movies, the bad guy always lose and the hero’s prevail, which is not always the case in real life. This movie also introduces Darth Vader in an even scarier form than he was in from a New Hope. ESB does an amazing job of making Darth Vader look like the most evil character in cinema, and also making him extremely intimidating with his theme song, the Imperial March. ESB also was great for its world building, the viewer gets to see just how vast the Star Wars galaxy is. The viewer goes from Hoth to Bespin (Cloud City) to Degobah and even to an asteroid with a big space worm in it. Lightsaber combat evolved immensely from the previous film as well. The meeting of Yoda was also interesting for the viewer, because you get to meet the master of all masters, and Yoda was not what the viewer expected to be- a little green muppet. Just like the previous film, Luke has great character development throughout the film and also deals with lots of adversity at the end. Speaking of the end, the shocking twist that Darth Vader is Luke’s father is appalling to both Luke and the audience. Never would you think that the baddest character in the films is the father of the main protagonist. Best plot twist ever!

What Type of Person Gets to be on the Jedi Council?

There are a lot of thoughts in the fandom on the Jedi Council, many very negative and some a little more positive. There are even more thoughts about individual council members. However, I haven’t really seen people discuss what actually qualifies a Jedi to be on the council. Are there specific qualities that are looked for? If so, what are they? This is the first in a series of posts where I will be looking at who each council member is and what the commonalities are between them. My hope is that this could reveal what the Jedi believe a member of the Jedi Council should be like.

To start off, let’s look at the Grandmaster of the Order himself, Yoda.

In TPM, Yoda says that Anakin should not be trained as a Jedi because he is full of fear and unwilling to let go of people he’s attached to (”afraid to lose her, i think” “what does that got to do with anything?” “everything”). Later in the movie, he argues that Obi-wan should not take Anakin as his apprentice. However, after Obi-wan makes it clear that he will, Yoda tells him that the Council had decided to allow Obi-wan to become Anakin’s master. Yoda never again tells Obi-wan that he shouldn’t have trained him, even after Anakin has helped commit genocide against the Jedi. Yoda never tells Anakin that he shouldn’t have been trained once he’s accepted into the Order, even though he makes it very clear in TPM that he didn’t think Anakin should be trained.

In AOTC, he joyfully teaches a class of younglings, pokes fun at Obi-wan in front of them (”lost a planet, Master Obi-wan has. How embarrassing, how embarrassing”), asks the younglings to solve the problem, and praises the children when one offers an idea. He expresses concern about how many young Jedi are arrogant. He is also the one to sorrowfully point out that battle of Geonosis wasn’t a victory, but the beginning of the clone war.

In the Clone Wars, he spends the entire first episode mentoring the three clones who are with him. He tells them what flaws he sees they have and what he thinks they should do to become better (look to yourself, use your mind, don’t rush in). Right after, he trusts them to do those things, and they don’t let him down. He seems fairly proud when asking them if they’ve learned something. He also tells those clones that he very much does see them as people and individuals, and his actions show that he means it. He also happily allows a butterfly to land on his finger.

We see that Yoda is someone who ultimately respects the choices of others, even if he doesn’t agree with them. We see that he is willing to criticize the Jedi. We see that he loves children. We see that he loves teaching anyone who is willing to learn, whether or not they are Jedi. He especially likes seeing people learn. He treats living beings with respect.

But Yoda is just one Jedi, and the Grandmaster of the Order! He’s an exception!

We’ll see, there are the other Jedi on the Council to cover.

Fandom Ask game: Star Wars. Original Trilogy. Go.

frick. so theres this normal guy named luke who lives on a funky desert planet with his aunt and uncle i think and he ends up going on a quest somehow and does some training for his jedi force powers with a muppet named yoda at some point. he also rides on a spaceship with a guy named han solo who is likely not straight and shoots people and his friend chewbacca who is a furry wookie. there is a giant spaceship that is not a moon it is the death star and it can blow up planets and an evil guy named darth vader which definitely doesn't give anything away if you translate it hangs out there. i forgot to mention the empire and the stormtroopers and all the bad guys but they all have space armor to look ominous and like blowing things up to prove points. their spaceships are shaped like bow ties and have green lasers because green is evil. there are rebels too though!! and their spaceships are shaped like the letter x and have red lasers i think because red is only evil if laser swords lightsabers are that color. that is why blue lightsabers are cool. it turns out that luke's dad is the evil guy and he cuts off his hand because he doesn't want to be evil. also he has evil force powers. i think i had a crush on princess leia even though i thought was straight. at some point they have a treehouse party with a bunch of furries ewoks. there are cool robots but they call them droids. someone sleeps inside a dead animal for warmth i think. this stopped being plot a long time ago. in my defense this is how i process most pieces of media. here's a cool scene here's another cool scene. what order did it happen in who knows. yeah. lasers. oh yeah they blow up the death star so it will stop blowing up planets because that is not good for the trout populations. i have seen all of these movies multiple times but it has been many years. help.
