You love it, we love it. And quite understandably, too, as there is a lot to like. Enough of it to go around, you might say. An endless supply. Total abundance. The lion's share, but for everyone. Because each and every day it's still there, a little different each time: sometimes grey and bland, sometimes fiery orange, sometimes deep navy, sometimes salmon and swirling, something rainy and drab. It has one job, very simple, and it does it very well. Very reliably. Like a big clockwork blanket. Let's give it up for #the color of the sky.
i like to sit outside at night when it's nice. i like to look up at the stars while i'm writing.
lately the stars have been brighter. i can't pinpoint exactly when it changed, but i can see so many more stars in the sky. i can see the milky way from my backyard. i never could before. it's not super obvious. if you weren't looking, you wouldn't notice it at all, and even if you were, it's hard to tell what you're seeing. it would have to be a perfectly clear night, or you wouldn't even consider that it might be anything other than the slightest wisp of cloud. but it's there. consistently. it wasn't a year ago.
i'm not really a proper stargazer. i don't bother with a telescope or really thinking about constellations other than vaguely knowing a handful. i just... like to look up and feel small. but there are constellations in the sky i haven’t been able to find in years that are clearly visible now. there are constellations i'm used to being very obvious that i'm having a hard time picking out among all the other stars i'd lost.
i live in a... smallish town? medium? i don't know, a fairly standard new england town, it's touristy so population varies by season. not a big city, but also not a teeny tiny town in the middle of nowhere. we're on the coast, which i'm sure helps, but the nearest dark sky site is still hours away from me.
The stars are very pretty, aren't they? It’s funny to think that millions of people all across the world might be looking at the very same star as you, perhaps they are making a wish, perhaps they are cursing to the sky, maybe they are just watching the sky. So many people, watching the very same star as you, all for completely different reasons. Some people may have the exact same issues as you, and are looking at the stars for hope, and confidence. Whilst others hate the stars as they are a painful reminder of the day to come. Or maybe they are looking at the stars trying to find their loved ones in the sky.
Stars are very pretty, I hope that one day I’ll be a star in the sky, and people will look at me as well.
