Warnings: Reader scared of fireworks, yelling Velevet
A/N: I really appreciate all the love my page has been getting. I really didnât expect to get this far but you guys really helped a lot so thank you!
âCRIMP!â Velvetâs shriek sent a shiver through your body, âWhy do you always have to do everything wrong!â Sometimes you felt bad for the little thing. She was always under stress, and sometimes Crimp was a little annoying.
You were under the most stress however. Tonight Velvet and Veneer were holding a New Yearâs (Eve) live performance. It was more of a mini performance with only 1,000 seats because the twins (*ahem* Velvet) decided they didnât want a big concert tonight. There was also going to be a party held after the concert with close friends (surprisingly you got invited *ahem* Veneer) and they didnât want to wait on thousands of people to leave.
Still the concert was to be perfect. The plan was for it start at 11:00pm on the dot, and the last song to end on 12:00am on the dot. It was stupid crazy but you couldnât say that to Velvet, and no one else could either so it was settled. And after 3 hours of editing, scheduling, and moving things around, you and the crew were able to pull it off.
âLights?â You shouted as a bright spot light beamed down on you. âToo bright, try again!â You felt the settings of the light dim a bit. â(____!)â someone called your name and you searched around the empty stage. In came Veneer out of the wings. âOh hey VeneerâŚready for your performance tonight?â You asked him, youâve gotten a lot better at not stuttering when heâs around. âYou bet I am. Iâm ready for the fireworks at the end, everyoneâs gonna go crazy!â Veneer said getting excited. Your face dropped a bit, the thought of fireworks didnât thrill you too much. You hated fireworks actually. They were so terrifying and loud. You had actually gotten one of the other crew members to be in charge of the fireworks.
âWhatâs wrong?â Veneer asked basically frowning too. Itâs crazy that it almost seemed like Veneer could read you like a book, usually unintentionally. âOh itâs nothing Veneer.â You replied. He stared at you blankly as if waiting for a better response, âIâmâŚVeneerâŚIâm fine! Donât you have rehearsal in like five minutes? You know youâre sisters gonna be mad at both of us if youâre late.â
âOh sheâs fine.â He replied trying to convince himself.
âAre you sure about that?â
âUmâŚno. I should go back .â You chuckled at his response. âBut just know if you wanna talk Iâm always here! Besides right now!â He said waving off as you waved back.
You watched the twins perform from the wings of the stage. You stood their with your clipboard as everything had been checked off, and the show was going accordingly. All a thousand people bought tickets and the chaos was crazy. Some people unfortunately took the media about not being able to buy tickets, some meaner than others and bashing the twins for it.
Fortunately for them they had the best assistant ever (no not Crimp). You made sure to thank those that wernât so harsh about it, and gracefully bash those who were more ruthless.
The show was going excellent and you and the fans were enjoying every minute of it. Velvet as usual hit the hard vocals but Veneer stepped up and showed out a bit too. As if it wasnât obvious to the other stage members why. Clearly he was trying to show out for you according to them. You denied it but couldnât help feeling a little special when you caught Veneer looking back at you with a smile after hitting a note.
Suddenly as Velvet hit the last note from âSweet Dreamsâ, fireworks went off in the distance not too far from the stadium. Stage sparkles also went up high without a hitch. So lost in song you had forgotten about the horrid explosions. You gasped and backed up further frop the stage, hiding your lower face with the clipboard.
Veneer cheered and waved to his fans in the audience. He was all smiles which couldâve been enough to reassure you, but the fireworks just kept going. Veneer did a little dance move and glanced back at you, his smiling dropping quickly when he saw the worry in your face. âAre you ok?â he mouthed. You shook your head a little before a even louder âBOOMâ went off and you took off running.
Veneer had almost followed you off the stage but had forgot about being mid performance.
âIâm starting to think something is wrong.â Venee chuckled climbing up the grassy hill outside the stadium. You had ran as far as from the stadium as possible and made yourself comfortable in the grass.
âYeah,â Veneer sat down next you, staring at you with big eyes as if waiting for you continue, âI may or may not be a little afraid of fireworks-â You were almost cut off by the distant booms of fireworks. Squealing a bit, you flinched and jumped back a bit into Veneers arms. âA little?â Veneer smirked cocking his eye brow, looking down at you.
âOh my gosh,â you muttered realizing what you did trying to get up, âI am so sorry Veneer-â âDonât.â He said tightening his grip around you. You didnât want to be found laying on your client but you didnât want to move.
âWhy didnât you say anything? I couldâve asked Velvet to cut most of the fireworks.â Veneer frowned. âI didnât think it was that serious Veener.â You looked up at him as his frown stretched even further. âBesides, do you really think Velvet was gonna do that for you, let alone me?â You snickered, lightning up Veneerâs face just a bit.
âDo you wanna talk about it? Why it makes you so scared orâŚ?â Veneer started again. âNah I think we should just enjoy the moment.â âYeah that sounds good.â You could practically see his smile by the way he spoke.
Veneer held you tight under the stars, holding you even closer by every firework going off in the distance. Heâd even manage to calm you down so your jumping came to a slow. He hummed a few of his songs to drown out the sound of the fireworks which left you mesmerized.
After about a little less than a hour the fireworks had begun to come to an end. You both knew Velvet would be looking for the both of you sooner and later, and it would make it no better if she find you two together. You decided to wrap it up and head back.
âThanks for the help Veneer, you didnât have to. Iâm pretty sure you missed the after concert party.â You said walking downhill with him, his hand in yours. âEh itâs fine, as long as thereâs some leftover pizza.â Veneer said as you laughed. âAnd if thereâs not, we can order some. They donât close for another 2 hours.â You added as he nodded.
You were silent for a minute before being hit with a thought, âHey how did you even find me out here?â You questioned as Veneerâs face reddened a bit. âYou get a lot done when you run around yelling, whereâd he go? Whereâs he at? Tell me now!â Veneer said motioning his arms in a dramatic manner. You laughed but blushed a bit when you thought about what lengths Veneer would go to to find you.
I feel like being extra today, so have some California gothic(SoCal edition):
There is no rain. There is never rain. If it comes, it comes when everyone is inside or asleep. Roads flood and swimming pools spill over and there is half a foot of water on every corner. Then it dries and its gone forever. There is no rain.
There is something in the ocean. You can't see it, because you aren't far out enough for the water to be clear, but it doesn't matter; anytime you do go far out enough, it's too deep to see the bottom. There's a ledge where the sandy floor drops into a steep cliff; young kids who are brave enough to swim out the ten feet to reach it dare their friends to jump. You see fishermen on the pier and the beach, and even though you've never seen as much as a piece of bait on the shore, you keep your distance to avoid a hook in your foot. The water glitters with flecks of gold; when the waves crash, the sand is stirred up enough to reveal the precious metal. You've heard stories about people jumping off the pier, but you never see it happen. You love the ocean. Maybe you'll come again when there's less people. There's something in the ocean; maybe one day you'll actually see it.
The air around LA is dirty. Its orange and gray and disgusting. Breathing it in makes you feel nauseous, dirty, depressed. When it rains(it never rains), you can see all the skyscrapers, and the mountains! The mountains are so clear. It only lasts a few days, and the smog is back. Time slows down on the freeway leading into downtown. You sit in traffic, staring at the license plate ahead of you. Its been ten minutes since everyone stopped moving. You look up at the skyline; has it always been that orange? Someone honks behind you, and you turn your attention to the road. Its been five minutes. No one's moved.
There's a fire somewhere. It makes sense; you got a lot of rain that winter, and the summer was predictably hot. You wake up at three in the morning; on the coast, because you smell burning, in the hill, because a neighbor is pounding on your door. The sky turns red, and when high schoolers leave their third period, they can't see. Nothing gets canceled except for sports. There is ash in the pool; it will stay for weeks until the first home meet.
"Coyotes are back" the sign says. You think of your dog, a good sized dog that can protect itself. You think of your neighbors dog, a scrawny thing that would get snatched in an instant if it were left out at night. You think of your friend's cat, and how the only dead cats you've ever seen are mauled on the side of the road. Coyotes are back. You don't think they ever really left.
The lights went out last night. You know this because your alarm went off at two am instead of six, and because of the blinking 12:01 on your clock. Your fan is still going at least; without it, you would be smothered to death by heat, heat that builds and builds and builds until its cooler outside than in. The pools are open for the summer, but unless you know friends or family with one, you'll have to pay. You think that's kind of cruel, but say nothing. You're too hot to think.
There is a June bug in your house. Its July. There is a June bug in your house.
A gun shot goes off. No, wait, that was a firework. You wonder how your neighbors got those fireworks, the kind that bang instead of whistle and shriek instead of scream. You hope they don't go to the hill to set them off. There have been enough fires in recent years. You hear the bang again. You count the weeks to the fourth of July; three weeks to go. You'll get some sleep in a month.
There is nothing in the dark. Absolutely nothing. You know this because the night makes you feel safe, because it is cool and refreshing. There is nothing in the dark. You walk faster anyway.
A tourist from the Midwest complains about sunburn. You laugh; you don't get sunburn. You can't remember the last time you had sunburn. Sunburn is what happens to outsiders, or those with less melanin. You stare at the strawberry blonde whose face is as red as her hair. Even your white friends aren't so pale; living here, you've absorbed the sun into your skin and the golden warmth into your smile. Outsiders say you are beautiful. Insiders know why.
Disneyland is too expensive. You can't afford it, you don't want to go. You still think fondly of your past trips. Knott's is smaller, more local, but a yearly pass is a fraction of a Disney day ticket. You go to Knott's with friends. You don't regret anything. You say you should go again. You still want to go to Disneyland.
Southern California is its own state. Outsidrrs say "NorCal" and "Frisco" and wonder why locals stare. See's Candies are everywhere, every city has at least one. SoCal is dry and arid and has such a different climate from up north. There are forests in the north. You have never seen them.
There are abandoned train tracks everywhere. You want to walk along them. Your parents and friends say no. You ask why. They say its dangerous, they say there are coyotes on the tracks. They never say you might find a homeless camp. They don't need to; you already know. The homeless aren't dangerous. You stay away from them anyway.
You are chatting with an online friend. They say the snow is bad. They say their parents hate them for coming out. They say they don't feel safe at night because of the things outside. You are shocked. You know thses things can happen, but you never really believed they could before now. You tell them you are sorry. You try to understand what their life is like. You can't; you don't understand how their life is so different, yet they live in the same country as you.
LA to San Diego is 3 hours. LA to San Francisco is 8 hours. You have been to San Diego before. Its very nice. You've passed through it on your way to Mexico. You don't like coming back from Mexico; border patrol is scarier on that side. You worry that you will answer a question wrong and you will be kept on the wrong side of the border. You are a US citizen. You think about San Francisco. You've never been. It sounds lovely.
Your friend has a green card. You don't care; your friend is the same age as you, you met in elementary school. You hear a person in power talking about deportation. You are nervous for your friend. Your friend is a good person, their family is nice. Your friend wonders if they should take the citizenship test. You say nothing.
As a child, the police scared you. No one told you to be afraid of them, you just were. Now, you are still scared. At least this time, you know why.
You keep a bottle of baby powder in your car, right next to the beach towels and a scrubbie brush. "To get the sand off." You say to the questioning looks from the out of towner. You think they are visiting family. Most of your family lives here, and you don't remember who the outsider is related to. They gawk at the ocean. Its just the ocean.
Big Bear is pretty. Its always pretty. In the summer there's camps and in the winter there's snow. You go up for the day, once a year; its why you have a sled you never use.
Fourth of July is pretty cool. You get fireworks from the local high-school or local church, and you spend two hours setting them off. The pictures and video don't come out right, but it doesn't matter. You know this is a holiday celebrating America. You only care about the colors, and in the back of your mind, if someone might accidentally start a fire.
Summary: You plan a special night out for Bucky and it turns out to be more than you could have hoped for.Â

Your eyes search his, the sadness you see making your heart hurt. Running your fingers along his jaw you brush your nose to his, âweâll figure this out, Bucky. Donât worry.â He crushes you to his chest and buries his face in your neck, his deep inhales shaking your whole body. You rub up and down his back, squeezing him back as tight as you can.
When he finally pulls away his eyes are misty but there is slightly less pain. âThank you. Iâm sorry to drop that bomb on you. Iâve been so happily distracted lately that it just hasnât seemed real. Grandma kinda dragged it all up again at dinner, though.â You give him a small smile, âitâs ok, Iâm glad you felt you could talk to me. Why donât you tell me whatâs been going on so we can figure this out together?â
Bucky throws his arm around your shoulder and starts to walk, resting his head on top of yours. âIt just seems like we are getting fewer and fewer customers. People arenât looking for actual books anymore. They use e-readers and listen to audio books and all that nonsense.â You giggle at this last words. âYou know baby, itâs not nonsense, some of it is good. I mean I always prefer an actual book myself. We need to think of a way to get more people into the shop!â
As you continue to walk back to Buckyâs apartment the conversation takes a turn toward your mutual love for books and youâre reminded of Bettyâs story of meeting James. âHey Buck, do you think you should talk to your grandma about this? Maybe she can offer help since she has been a part of it for so long.â Bucky looks down at his shoes, kicking a rock away before his eyes meet yours again, âIâm afraid. She already lost grandpa; I canât stand to see her in more pain.â
You rest your head against his chest and wrap your arms around his waist, âI know. Weâll think of something.â The two of you walk back to Buckyâs apartment slowly, mostly chatting about his grandparents. When you learn he hasnât been to Coney Island since he was in his teens, youâre shocked but a plan forms in your head, one that gets you overly excited.
The next work week comes and goes with only one thing different than the last. You finally admit to yourself that you are totally and completely falling in love with Bucky. âAnd now Iâm telling you because I had to tell someone, and I canât tell him! Itâs only be like two months!â You give Nat an exasperated look and sink to the floor in the kitchen, cookie in hand.
âWow,â Nat says through a mouthful, âthese are amazing! What kind did you say they were?â You pin her with a glare before yelling, âI just told you Iâm in love with Bucky and youâre asking me about the cookies!!!â She laughs! A real loud and boisterous laugh that causes her to snort some cookie and start to choke. âJeez, Nat, be careful,â you chide, standing and rubbing her back.
When she finally calms down and catches her breath, she pins you with a look, âI could have told you that you were in love with him after the first week. I was just waiting for you to admit it. Now. What kind of cookies are these? You have to add them to your book!â With a loud sigh you say, âdouble chocolate peanut butter.â
Nat rests her forearm on your shoulder, licking her fingers clean of crumbs, âlisten y/n, he feels the same way. Itâs written all over him. Just give it more time.â You grab another cookie from the plate, taking a bite and nodding your head in agreement. âIâm really excited about surprising him with a trip to Coney Island. I hope it makes him happy.â Nat takes the cookie from your hand, finishing it in one bite. âHeâs gonna love it! And Iâm gonna be sure Sam gives him the night off,â she winks through her mouth full.
Saturday arrives and you canât control your excitement, bouncing around on your feet while making breakfast. âDoll, what is with you? Did you eat cupcakes or something while I was in the bathroom?â Bucky asks, grabbing your waist to hold you still. You turn in his arms and say, ânope,â popping the p. âJust happy itâs Saturday is all.â He reaches around you and grabs the eggs, smiling before walking to the table.
Just as he sits his phone dings with a message. âItâs early for anyone to be up and texting me other than you. And youâre here,â he says, confusion etched on his face. âItâs Sam.â You try to act surprised and maybe even a little worried, rushing over to wait for him to explain. âOh wow!â Bucky exclaims, his smile wide, âSam gave me the night off! He said Peter wanted to pick up an extra shift just for this week.â
You do a little happy dance, âthatâs great! Now we have the whole evening free!â Bucky looks up at you, unable to stop smiling with how happy you are. But just as quickly as it comes his smile disappears and his lips turn down into a small frown. âWhat babe, whatâs wrong?â you ask quickly, sitting next to him. âMaybe I shouldnât take the night off, I kinda need all the money I can get right now.â
His eyes search yours and your stomach turns, cursing yourself for not thinking that he might feel this way. âI understand completely. If you feel you need to work, then you should. Definitely do what youâre most comfortable with.â His smile returns and he leans over to kiss you before saying, âyou know what, fuck it. I havenât had a Saturday off since the bar opened and I wanna take my best girl out on the town!â
You instantly feel better and give him a sly smile. âI have the perfect idea if youâre up for a surprise?â you ask, batting your lashes. He pulls you into his lap, whispering against your lips, âIâll do whatever you want tonight, baby, Iâm all yours.â You wiggle in his lap, your excitement infectious as he laughs along with you. Suddenly he still your hips, letting out a low growl, âlisten beautiful, if youâre gonna continue hopping around in my lap like this, Iâm gonna be late for the bookshop.â Raising your eyebrows, you slowly turn to face the table, grabbing the fork and eating a mouthful of eggs. âSorry,â you mumble, but not before one more good wiggle.
You meet Bucky at the bookshop at closing. Heâs in the back when you walk in, so you sit yourself on the counter and wait. He walks out in a tight blue tee shirt and jeans, your eyes wandering from his head to his toes. âIs this ok for where weâre going? I didnât know if I needed to be more dressed up, so I brought a button down.â Sliding off the counter you walk around it and say, âitâs perfect.â He grabs your hand and gives you a twirl, your light cotton dress skirt floating up and around your legs as you giggle. âYou look amazing as always.â
You had an uber ready and waiting for you outside the shop and Bucky gives you a surprised smile. âRiding in style tonight, huh?â You giggle, sliding inside the backseat while Bucky holds the door. The whole ride over you keep him engaged in conversation, hoping to divert his attention from where you are going. You make as far as the tunnel before Bucky says anything, his face lit up by the overhead lights.
âAre we in the battery tunnel?â he asks, his tone laced with excited surprise. âMayyyybbbeee,â you say, shrugging, âjust shush and enjoy the ride.â Raising a brow, he puts his hands up and replies, âok, I promise to just go with it. I wonât ask questions.â You scoot over so he can wrap his arm around you. âSo, tell me more about how you met Steve and Sam?â
Bucky tries so hard to keep his eyes on you for the entire ride but as you take the exit to Ocean Parkway, he canât help but look out the window, his whole face lighting up as he spins around in his seat. âYouâre taking me to Coney Island?!!?â he shouts, whipping back around to smush you to his chest. âDoes that mean youâre happy?â you ask, your voice muffled in his shirt. Â âYes,â he whispers, lifting your face to his, âso happy.â He kisses you before you can reply and you melt against him, forgetting all about your surroundings.
The uber pulls to a stop on Surf Ave, the cool ocean breeze hitting you as soon as you open the car door. You inhale deeply, the salty air filling your lungs and bringing you peace. You sneak a look at Bucky, his eyes wide and bright as he takes it all in. Before you can ask where he wants to go first, he grabs hold of your hand and starts walking toward the Wonder Wheel.
âWill ya go on with me doll?â You couldnât say no to him even if you wanted to, nodding your head vigorously as you get closer. âI havenât been on here inâŚshit, probably over 12 years!â After getting your tickets you get on the line, Buckyâs arm draped over your shoulder as he tells you about his Coney Island memories.
He helps you onto the car, sitting next you and pulling you close. âOh man, I canât believe it,â he says, looking out over the park. You watch as the bright and colorful lights dance in the reflection of his eyes, your mouth opening to speak as the wheel starts to turn. âY/n! Look!â he shouts, pointing out toward the water just as the fireworks start. You pull yourself away, looking out over the ocean as the sky explodes into a rainbow of colors.
As you stare at the bursts of light your mind races over the words youâve been harboring for weeks. The words about to explode off your tongue louder than the fireworks. His name comes out as a whisper as you turn your head toward him, finding that his eyes are settled on your face. âI love you.â He says the words and they ring out over the booms; louder and clearer than any others youâve heard before.
You can feel your whole face light up and your heart swell before you repeat the words back. âI love you, Bucky.â His smile matches yours as he dips his head, kissing your lips and pouring everything into it, the bright lights and loud sounds fading away.
This is by far the craziest thing youâve ever done, and at the last minute.
Work was getting more stressful as you had many submissions and it was taking a toll on you. You knew you needed a break and hell, your body deserved it after spending late nights in the office.
So, you checked when you were able to take leave after your datelines were due and tried to match it with wherever Connor was in Asia at that time. Shawn is scheduled for his concert in Tokyo on the 16th October and after confirming with Brian, they would be there on the 14th.
Next thing you knew, you were searching up air tickets from Los Angeles to Tokyo and was set to leave on the 13th morning. Brian gave you all their flight details and coincidentally, there was a flight that would arrive at the airport as the same time as them.
Connor knows how extremely busy work has been for you and he knew not to disturb you in this period so, you didnât have to worry much about lying to him of your whereabouts.
On the 13th, you were set to leave for the airport after dropping of your puppy with Connorâs parents. You were nervous to be flying alone but if it means being in Connorâs arms again in less than 24 hours, you were definitely willing to do it.
xxx
You havenât been on a flight in ages so traveling alone for 12 hours was probably a scary feeling. You managed to watch some good movies, caught up on your sleep that you were desperately needing and did some reading.
Stepping out of the plane, you felt fresh and energetic; probably from the excitement that you were feeling to surprise Connor. After a month of being away from each other, you just couldnât wait to be reunited with him.
After clearing through the customs, you shot a quick text to Brian asking where they were and he responded quickly that they were heading out to the baggage claim area.
You quickly went to the carousel to pick up your bag and went to sit at the row of chairs in the corner while you waited for Connor to appear on sight.
An idea ran through your head and you smirked to yourself; thinking of how you could let Connor know that you werenât home in Los Angeles but instead, with him in the same city.
You took out your passport, held it up in front of your phone so you could snap a picture of it with the signboard writing âBaggage Areaâ written in English and Japanese in the background.
You typed out a caption for the picture âall it takes is one flight and weâd be in the same time zone @connorbrashier â¤ď¸â, pinned the location of the airport at the bottom of the picture then uploaded it to your story.
On the other end of the baggage area, Connor stood in front of the carousel while waiting to claim his bags. He was scrolling through Twitter when the Instagram notification popped up on the top.
[connorbrashier] @y/n has mentioned you in their story
He didnât really think much when he tapped on the notification while waiting for the story to load. You probably tagged him to a photo of your 6-month old puppy, like you always did from time to time.
But when he reads the caption and his brain processed everything, he nearly dropped his phone.
The location of the airport clearly says Narita Airport.
Narita Airport.
He was in Narita Airport.
You were in Narita Airport?
Was he actually dreaming?
Brian notices the shock look on his friendâs face and taps on his shoulder, grinning âYou found out, huh?â
Connor, who was still stunned, turn his head towards his best friend âWhat the fuck? You knew?â He asked in disbelief.
He laughs in return, nodding âShe wanted to surprise you real good, bro. Go find her and Iâll take care of your bagsâ
Connor wasted no time as he walked away from Brian and straight away called you up.
He didnât even let you speak up when you answered his call as he rushed out to ask âWhere are you? Are you really here?â
You giggled in respond, seeing his person from afar as he frantically searches through the small crowd of people in the area âYeah I am, bubs. Keep walking straight to the other end and youâll find meâ
Connor kept walking forward, his heart beating faster with every step he was taking and that was when he finally found you sitting down; one of your hands pressed against your ear as you held your phone, a shit-eating grin plastered on your face when you lock gazes with your boyfriend.
He wasted no time to pick up his pace; running towards you.
âBaby!â Connor exclaimed once he was near to you, wrapping his arms around you as he lifts you up, twirling you around âOh my God! I canât believe youâre actually here!â
âBubs, put me down!â You laugh, tightening your grip around his neck for support âPeople are staring at us!â
âI donât careâ Connor pouted but did as you instructed. He finally sets you on your feet but not letting go of his grip around your waist. He pulls you close to him, burying his head in the crook of your neck âIâve missed you so fucking muchâ
âIâve missed you too, babyâ You muttered, pressing a quick kiss to the side of his head âI just flew 12 hours across the ocean because I had to see you, bubsâ
âWhat about work?â He pushed away to look at your face and you can see the worry filling his eyes âI thought your submission isnât due till next week? Does your boss even know youâre here?â
âShe doesâ You nodded, smiling âI told you that just because I really wanted this surprise to work. I submitted everything a few days ago and I took the week off, bubsâ
âIâm so glad youâre hereâ He sighs happily as he reached for your hand to intertwine your fingers together âSeriously. My day is so much better now that youâre hereâ
âI donât mean to interrupt this lovely reunionâŚâ A new voice spoke up and over Connorâs shoulder, you saw Brian standing there with crossed arms. Youâve seen his new haircuts in the many photos that Connor sent to you but you were still amazed by how it looks up-close âBut thereâs way too many fans here and weâve got to leave quicklyâ
xxx
âShut upâ You stared at Connor dumbfoundedly âAre you serious?â
He looks up from his phone screen, smirking as if it wasnât a big deal âI will not shut up, babe. Iâm being seriousâ
After a few hours of exploring around Tokyo, Connor thought it was finally time to call it a day since he knew how exhausted you were from the flight (even though you tried to hide it because you loved spending time with the rest of the team). So, when you were in the shower, Connor took his laptop out and spontaneously booked 2 tickets to go to Disneyland tomorrow.
âOh my God!â You shrieked âWe are not going to Disneyland! Youâre kidding, right?â
Connor rolled his eyes âOkay, so am I supposed to burn these tickets then? Or maybe Iâll ask Brian to go with me since youâre not up for it?â
âNo! I wanna go!â You exclaim, jumping on the bed to join him as you wrapped your arms around him; pressing kisses on his cheeks âThis is so sweet, babe! I love youâ
âYou wanna talk about sweet? You flew to Tokyo for me, honeyâ He laughs âYouâre amazing, you know that? And youâve always talked about how you wanted to go to Disneyland and youâve been working so hard lately so I wanted to do something nice for you, loveâ
âYeah but I didnât mean Disneyland in Tokyo!â You blushed âWe donât even know how to get there neither do we speak Japanese, bubsâ
âWell, think of it as a fun experience!â Connor grinned âI donât mind getting lost as long as Iâm with you, honeyâ
xxx
âConnor, no!â You whined as he ignored you, walking up to the counter as he held the plushie in his arm âI donât need it!â
âHoney, youâve been staring at this ever since we entered the storeâ Connor laughs âJust let me buy this for you? Please?â
âYeah but itâs expensive and youâve already bought the ticketsâ You frowned and although you didnât know the exact amount, stuff sold in Disneyland were never cheap âYou really donât have to buy it for me, Conâ
âI donât have to but I want toâ He shrugged âCome on, itâs just one small plushie babeeeâ
You saw the look he was giving and finally gave in, sighing in defeat âFine, but this is the only thing youâre buying for me. Deal?â
âDealâ
After paying for it, you continued walking through the walkway and from afar, you could already see the giant castle that youâve seen everywhere on the internet.
âOh my God, itâs so beautifulâ You said astonishingly when you stood nearer to the castle âI canât get over how pretty it looksâ
You were too engrossed in the structure of the building that you hadnât realize Connor looking at you instead, smiling to himself as he agreed âYeah, she really isâ
The entire time you were walking around and going on rides, Connor had his little camera out; filming little moments here and there that he wanted to put together later tonight. He could see the excitement and happiness radiating on your face of being here for the first time and heâs glad heâs the reason for it.
As you watched the fireworks later that night displayed at the castle and wrapped up in Connorâs arms, you leaned back in his touch and pressed a soft kiss to his chin âHey, thank you for today. I really had a good timeâ
Connor smiles down at you, nodding âThatâs alright, sweets. Iâm glad you enjoyed itâ
âIt was amazingâ You said, sighing happily âYouâre amazing. I love you and I cannot wait till this tour is over and youâll be homeâ
âMe too, honeyâ He muttered softly, pressing a quick kiss to your head âI love youâ
Hours later when you were already fast asleep, Connor finally put together the little clips that he took from today and turned it into a mini vlog. Never would he expected to have you here with him and he knows the goodbyes are going to be hard when you have to go home, but he didnât care. He got to spend his free day with his girl and that is what heâs grateful for.
@connorbrashier: took my girl to Disneyland for the first time đ
Was it a boy or a girl to text you last ? It was my husband. He was responding to a meme I sent him about Napoleons penis.
Name something you are doing tomorrow? Feeding the baby.
Do you sleep on your stomach? I used to. I wish I still could. Like my body wants to roll on my stomach, but it hurts my back and pelvis when I do it. Iâm hoping that will change eventually. Â
Where are you going to be at 4pm tomorrow? No idea. Probably hanging out on the couch.
Last time you saw fireworks, with whom & where? All the 4th of July celebrations were canceled around here this year, so people just bought fireworks and lit them off at their houses. For months, ha ha. Â
Are you missing someone? Nah. Â
Do you like horror or comedy? Both.
Who did you last share a taxi with? The first time I went to New York was before Uber existed, so we used taxis. It was my roommate, Lori
Dogs or cats? Both are pretty cool.Â
What were you doing at 12 this afternoon? Sleeping. I sleep from 8a to 1pm these days. Completely normal, I know.
Do you think you will be in a relationship 3 months from now? Yep.
Whatâs your favorite season? Fall. Although the fall is getting less and less fally here every year. Â
Whenâs the last time you did something you knew was wrong? Iâve been taking what I assume are hospital bills and just putting them in a pile to be dealt with later. Dealing with all of that is just insane. I actually got a phone call the other day and the lady ledt me a voicemail saying I needed to call and make a payment plan to pay my $105,000 balance and I just donât know how someone could even leave a voicemail like that.Â
Do you hate being alone? Nah. Iâm actually pretty good with whatever circumstances. I have a limit to maybe being too alone, but mostly Iâm good.
Is there a girl that knows everything or mostly everything about you? Close-ish. Iâve had the same best friend for like 20 years.
What about a guy? The husband.
What color shirt are you wearing? Plain black. Second shirt of the day, first one was vomited on.Â
What are you listening to right now? Spotify Daily Mix 1. Husband banging things around in the kitchen trying to cook, ha. Â
If you won a lot of money on the lottery, what would you buy first? Hmmm, no idea. Maybe bedroom furniture? We painted and pulled up the carpet to reveal the hardwoods and got a new ceiling fan, but I still have the same dressers and nightstands that I had when I was 15 and Iâm, just, tired of them. Theyâre in great shape but man, 21 years is a long time to look at the same dresser ha ha.
What was the last thing you bought? Target order online. The baby is on special preemie formula and we can only reliably get it at Target.Â
Whatâs your greatest fear in life? Death.
Who was the last person to see you cry? Husband. The aftermath of having a baby and then just coping with life caused a lot of tears. Also, lack of sleep.Â
Who was the last person you hugged? My husband. Hugging other people is still frowned upon due to the pandemic.Â
Do you think you would be a good parent? Ha ha, hopefully, its a little too late to go back now.Â
When was the last time you cried? I need one of those workplace accident style signs for this. 3 days since the last sobbing.Â
Who was driving the last time you were in a car? I was. I dropped off some paperwork to a mailbox to get out of the house the other day.Â
Does any part of your body hurt right now? My tailbone hurts when Iâm sitting like all the time these days and I donât know why or what to do about it.Â
Who was the last person that text you and what did it say? I was chatting with a friend about one of my house plants earlier. A bunch of them were neglected when the baby and I were in the hospital for two months and Iâm trying to nurse one back to life.Â
What was the first thing you thought this morning? When my husbands alarm went off at 8, I thought oh good, I can finally sleep.Â
How many times do you talk on the phone a day on average? Zed.Â
Do you like your bed? No. I fucking hate it. The blankets and whatnot are great and we got one of those adjustible bases so we can sit up and read and stuff but our mattress is just so awful. My husband for some reason convinced himself he wanted a firm mattress- spoiler alert, he didnât- and we ended up with this compromise memory foam thing that is so hot and uncomfortable. If it wasnât so exensive I wouldâve set it on fire by now.
Hey, thatâs what Iâll do with my lottery winnings from above- new mattress.
Do you like your life? Zoomed out, yes. Day to day, questionable. Â
When did you last talk to your brother or sister? I have neither. But I do have two friends that might as well be sisters and Iâve talked to one today and the other last night.
Do you ever wanna know who you are going to marry? I do know. Why did we have to spoil the surprise? Ha ha. Â
How much cash do you have on you? Zed. There are some dollar coins in my wallet from having to put a $20 in a vending machine a couple of months ago.
Who are the 3rd and 7th texts in your phone from? One is some automated system thing from the vet I take the dog to that I never even opted in on, and the other is me sending my husband a door code that our contractor gave him over the phone so he wouldnât forget.Â
Are you tanned? Nope. Rarely am. This summer it was over 90 degrees and I was pregnant, so I didnât spend a lot of time outside.Â
Are you upset with anyone? Nah.
Did you get any compliments today? Ha ha, no. I only saw my husband and the baby. Â
Have you ever gone to court? Once, because I got 3 speeding tickets within 6 months when I was 19.
Do you get jealous easily? Iâm like low level jealous sometimes, but not like seething with it.
How good is your eyesight? I can see perfectly for about 14 inches.Â
Would you ever want to swim with the sharks? Sure. I did this snorkel/scuba thing in St. Kitts and there were wild Manta Rays swimming around/below us and it was amazing.
What time did you wake up this morning? I was up pretty much all night and then went to sleep at like 9am and got up around 1pm.Â
What are you doing Saturday? Same thing I do everyday. Being pregnant/having a newborn in quarantine is even more isolating than I thought it would be. We canât have any one over to even give us a half hour to be human again. Â
What is in your back pocket? I am wearing fuzzy penguin pj pants and they have no pockets unfortunately.Â
What were you doing at 3am this morning? Reading. Iâm on my 4th book this week. I finished two and got halfway through the third and just decided it was awful and to call it. Â
If people see this- book recommendations please! Iâve been reading a lot of non-fiction, but like most everything but smutty romance and fantasy. Iâm also not reading scary stuff right now because Iâm doing all my reading at like 4am and I donât need to spook myself, ha.
What do you usually do first in the morning? Hope for more time to sleep.
What color is your room? Darkish green.
Are you any good at math? I am. I donât particularaly like it but I can do a really good amount of math in my head easily. Â
Any plans for Friday night? Pretending that weekends have any meaning to me whatsoever any more.
What did you do last weekend? Fed the baby. Ate some food. Didnât really sleep. I think last weekend is when I finished putting most of the nursery together. Â
Do you have a little crush on someone? Nope. Â
How old is the last person you kissed? 35.Â
Why did you last cry? Exhaustion. Change. Feeling like my body isnât my own.Â
Why did you kiss the person you last kissed? Unsure, other than like, we love each other and stuff. Â
[I wanted to write something but I didn't know what so I pressed shuffle on my Spotify and Misbehavin' was the first song that came on so here we go. Loosely based off of Misbehavin' by Pentatonix. Enjoy!
Here is it on AO3]
âCome on, Black. Lighten up!â A voice hollered before a hand clamped down on his shoulder. âThe night is young, the birdâs are fit, the booze is flowing and everyone if having a great time! Except for you.â He tutted.
Sirius glanced over his shoulder to look at his intoxicated friend with a raised brow, shrugging the large hand off of his shoulder. âJust checking on Remus, is all.â He said innocently, as if he had only been out here for a few seconds to check his phone. When, in reality, he had been stood outside in the smoking area for almost 40 minutes now.
âHeâs not even texting you back, leave the poor lad alone! And get in here, some blokes been asking about you.â Gideon winked, clearly too drunk to realise that Sirius wasnât really up for cheating on his boyfriend.
âCome on, mate. Itâs your round.â He was thankful for the interruption as James managed to steer Gideon away from him, sending Sirius a look that said that he wouldnât help him out again so he was on his own. If anyone else wanted to harass him about how boring he was being, James wouldnât stop them and then Sirius would actually have to join in and have a good time.
He had gone out there to send Remus a quick text to see how his night was going but had ended up scrolling through pictures on his phone whilst he waited for a response. Pictures of him and Remus together, some of just Remus and others that Remus had taken of Sirius, that Sirius had asked Remus to send him.
There was pictures of the two of them curled up in bed together, their kitten, a silver tabby named Minnie, curled up on Remusâ chest. Minnie had been affectionately named after their old headmistress, a name which James had chosen, since Lily refused to let him call their future children by the name. As a kitten, Minnie had stolen their hearts the minute they had seen her and had paid a lot extra to get her, the only female of the litter but she certainly turned out to be a handful, despite her innocent looks. They had learnt the hard way that they shouldnât leave mugs or anything that broke if it werenât pushed off of the side within her reach. They now mostly used plastic cutlery and plates.
Then there was pictures of them on Halloween a few months before. Remus had dressed as a werewolf, as he did every year and Sirius had dressed up as Ronnie Kray. James had, of course, dressed as Reggie. People had expected James and Siriusâ matching costumes to stop when Sirius and Remus had gotten together almost three years beforehand but they had only gotten better, now that they had Remus to help them with ideas. Whilst James and Sirius had looked cool together and Sirius and Remus looked strange together, that hadnât stopped them from being found in a dark corner doing dirty deeds that had made Lily blush. It hadnât stopped the redhead from taking pictures of them though and Sirius had grinned upon seeing the pictures of their flushed and guilty faces.
Next he found pictures that he had taken of Remus in the hospital during the summer, which had caused him to chuckle to himself. The two of them had rented a Tandem bike and had crashed it after they left the rental shop. Remus had broken his wrist as he had been behind Sirius so therefore, had less control. Sirius had been worried sick at the time but now it proved to be a great story to tell when entertaining guests or at dinner parties. It also had Remus flushing in that adorable way that Sirius loved. In the pictures, Remus appeared high on pain killers as he grinned dopily at the camera.
The pictures went on and on, some of them spending Christmas together with the Potterâs and with the Lupinâs. As well as their New Years Eveâs together. They had spent last year in Scotland, staying in a small cabin with Lily and James in the middle of nowhere, a few miles away from their older school. When the clock struck 12, the four of them had snuck onto the grounds of Hogwarts and shared a kiss by the Whomping Willow, where they had spent hours together when they were at school. They had stayed there for five minutes before being chased off of the grounds by Filch, the old caretaker. Just like old times.
But now, it was 10pm only a few hours until midnight and Sirius was in Paris with James and the old Gryffindor football team. They had arranged a reunion of sorts and booked rooms in a fancy 5 star hotel with a large pool and an all-inclusive deal that included alcohol. At first, Sirius had thought that it was a great idea but now it just seemed sad. Didnât the others have more important things to be doing than having a piss-up with people from school? He knew that James would rather be at home with Lily. And whilst he had been having a good time, he would rather be at home with Remus.
Doing nothing with Remus was better than being at a party. He knew that Remus missed him as well, although he wouldnât say it out of fear of making Sirius feel guilty. But the pictures that Remus had sent of Minnie sadly curled up on Siriusâ pillow had sealed the deal for him. He wanted to go home.
Had this happened at the beginning of their relationship, Sirius knew that Remus would have been suspicious and untrusting. They had always been fantastic friends but to trust someone as a friend and to trust someone as a boyfriend were completely different things. Sirius had always had a reputation as being a âman whoreâ as James had always so affectionately labelled him but Sirius had changed. For Remus. Remus was worth it and always had been. There was not a single regret in Siriusâ mind.
The only regret was coming on this damn holiday in the first place, he realised as they all stumbled through the doors of the hotel and into the lobby. James was half carrying a very drunk Giddeon whilst Fabian appeared to be attempting to eat some poor girlâs face. He could see other members of the team, most of which appeared to be with strangers and all having a good time. Except for Sirius.
We Found Love by Rihanna could be heard beginning to play at the back of the hotel, where the pool was, and Sirius was unsurprised when his mates followed the sound happily, dancing and just being generally loud. After spending all of his free time with Remus, Sirius found that he was no longer used to rowdy boys and loud music. He could feel himself grow irritated as he got closer.
âMate, you clearly arenât having fun anymore.â He heard a voice from behind him say. Sirius looked up from his phone, now stopped on a picture of Remus asleep, his sunkissed from the day that they had spent at Brighton beach, and looked up at James.
âItâs not that.â Sirius offered sheepishly, not wanting James to be offended by him admitting that he was bored and didnât want to be there.
âYou just have better places to be. I know.â James spoke, surprisingly wise despite the alcohol in his system as he nodded towards Siriusâ phone, showing that he understood what he meant. James most likely would have been in a similar situation as him if he didnât know that Lily was having a girls night out in London with her friends, most likely having more fun than they were. But Sirius knew that Remus would just be home alone. âYou know, midnight is in just over an hour.â
Sirius glanced at his phone and saw that it was nearly 11pm. In Paris. It wouldnât be New Years for over another two hours for Remus.
âThereâs a flight that leaves for London in 20 minutes. A car is outside right now⌠Iâll bring your bags back with me⌠Just go.â James tutted affectionately. At Siriusâ confused look, James rolled his eyes and typed something out on his phone. A few seconds later, Siriusâ phone vibrated in his hand. Looking down at it once again, he frowned when he saw that it was an email from James. He raised a questioning brow at him but opened it.
James had bought him a ticket on the next flight to London. âMy moping annoying you that much?â Sirius guessed, in what was supposed to be a casual manner but he was grinning too widely to play it cool. If there was tears in his eyes, James said nothing at it and grinned fondly, pulling him in for a tight hug.
âGo get your man. You know what to do.â James spoke, pushing a little black box into Siriusâ hand. Sirius realised that James must have gotten it from Siriusâ bag at some point. He wasnât even angry. After another tight hug, Sirius was sprinting from the room, still wearing the suit that he had worn out, the little black box clutched tightly in his hand.
A series of rapid knocks at the door had startled Remus from where he had been asleep on the sofa, startling him so much that he had also disturbed Minnie, who gave him a long scratch on his arm as a thank you. Hissing in pain, Remus sat up, looking around in confusion and frowning at the door. He couldnât figure out why anyone would be at his door at this time. Everyone that he knew was out partying. Unless it was a neighbour, coming to ask to borrow something or make a noise complaint. Not that they ever had wild parties but this had been Siriusâ flat before it was theirs so sometimes parties were mistaken for being theirs.
âIâm coming.â Remus grunted, knowing that the person on the other side of the door wouldnât hear him over the sound of their own knocking. He rubbed his eyes and opened the door, feeling his breath catch in his throat as he saw his boyfriend on the other side. On one knee. Holding a small box open to show him the gorgeous ring inside. Although not as gorgeous as the man holding it. But close.
He heard thousands of fireworks go off outside as the people in the flat above him, the source of the loud music and the cheering that Remus hadnât realised in his sleepy state was a countdown, began yelling and cheering.
âHappy new year, Remus.â Sirius breathed softly as he stared up at him.

I feels like writing something, since I rarely write things these days and I feels like my English will go down the drain soon, if Iâm not writing.
Since I impulsively bought a plane ticket again, itâs time for me to summarize my other two trips I had this year as like a build-up for my upcoming new adventure the Taiwan trip in November.Â
This first post is about my side trip from business trip...I guess
I donât know how I usually start my traveling post, I guess I start with a disclaimer that this post is not informative at all, just me writing about my trip for future me to reminisce about it.
It has been 2 years since I last visit Mikawa Anjo, the last time was for internship purpose, (which I happened to not write about the experience :/) I was greeted by the familiar feelings, I missed this place. I finally semi-ly made it back. I worked hard in this company for the past 1 year and I feels like it paid off a little.
This trip was my 6th time in Japan and took 14 days (Aug, 18th- Sep, 1st). Since this is a business trip, Iâm able to ride Thai Airways, finally something that not low-cost and Iâm able to load my luggage lol. The flight is TG644, I arrived at Japan around 8am, I decided to stop by my hotel for luggage storage, then go on an adventure to Okazaki Castle. Â
Before Okazaki Castle, I visited about 6 Japanese castles, so I know what I should expected from the castle. And spoiler alert, it was disappointing for me, I donât know why, maybe because Iâm burned out from visiting castle, or maybe because I saw a greater castle? Or maybe because I expected something from the castle that said to be the birthplace of Tokugawa Ieyasu? The Evangelion exhibition saved this castle from a total disappointment, at least there are something interesting. Â
After the castle I went back to my hotel and then meet up with my boss and some Japanese co-workers for a little nomikai. Alcohol intake, not that much.
The second day, which is Monday, itâs the old atmosphere everybody was as welcoming as ever. I only spent half day there because I had to visit other supplier factory in Gifu, Iâm still cursing myself for not taken any photos in my phone (for the location purpose), then that night another nomikai, and this time I drunk so much sake that actually made me drunk and made me worry for tomorrow. Iâm not the kind of person to have hangover, so I didnât worried about that, I was more worry about how much alcohol I will have left in my blood, since Tuesday, I will have to attend welcome party.
Tuesday, another nomikai, thank god my body can handle another round. That day, I was not drunk whatsoever, but I did drink Calpis sawla for at least 5 glasses, and other other things...overall probaby 15-20 glasses of alcohol. Those are nothing to sake I previously drunk on Monday though.
Wednesday, nothing worth mentioning ohh except I walked 2 km for Matsumoto Kiyoshi to get the stuffs ppl asked me to buy for them.
Thursday, yakiniku with my co-workers.
Friday, actually nothing?
So one week has passed, most the weekdays activity either
hung outâ with my co-workers or went to grocery shopping, my co-workers (in Thailand) asked me to buy kimono for them, and they keep called it yukata. It was a short kimono that you wear with hakama, these people want to wear them as âfashionâ, these really culture appropriation *sigh*
Saturday, Saturday, where did I go on Saturday...oh Meiji Mura...again. I actually went there two years ago to dress in Hakama while this year is to see very small fireworks with actual same age people. Because I already went there once, not many pictures were takenÂ
Sunday, the manager in charge of me took me to Iga, MIe to see some ninja. Iga Ueno castle is actually in the list of castle I want to visit. If you talking about Iga ninja, Hattori Hanzo, probably the famous ninja from that âschoolâ?
The ninja demonstration was interesting, idk what I expected, I guess I did low-key expected movie stunts ninjutsu, but it turned out to be just ninja technique.
I do loves Iga Ueno Castle since I could see both the life of ninja and samurai in one place. The ninja village is really fun place and touristy.
So far the day went very well and pretty much free since the manager paid for everything, but my dumbass has to be extra and went to Nishio to see lantern festival (alone). And you know what, the taxi cost 6000 yen round-trip just for the station to the festival ground. And this is what 6000 yen gave me...
It only 8pm and the festival already over. I learned something new every time I went to Japan. Apparently, 8pm is late for the festival. I live in the city, 8pm is still early for me. Â
Monday, kaiten sushi with the same age people
Tuesday, in the afternoon I went to Toyohashi to see printing factory and the person asked me what is the food that I want to eat but have not eaten yet, and I replied âunagiâ, which is something very expensive. Â
I think this was about 5000 yen for a set. In the evening, he treated me tempura like in actually tempura shop, where the chef actually fried tempura in front of us.
As a nekojita, I was suffering but it was so delicious.
Wednesday, I got stood up by the manager that took care of me 2 years ago. No biggie.
Thursday & Friday, spent my last day in Anjo as lonely as ever. (and spent 2 hours try to figure how to pack everything in my suitcase because of what people asked me to buy)
Saturday, I bought a day tour from Klook to Takayama and Shirakawago, the thing about tour is it convenience and probably cheaper than finding the transportation myself, but the downfall always, the time. There are not enough time!! I guess that is something I have to accept when it a day trip. In the bus, I was the only non-Chinese speaking person there.
Takayama...I was eating, so I didnât had much time to explore, but you know what I feels like if you went to Kyoto, you donât need to go to Takayama. It has it own charmed, I just didnât had enough time to enjoy its charm.
The raw beef is the best out of the 3, this Hida beef made visiting Takayama worth it.
Next stop, Shirakawago, the highlight of the trip. The sunlight and everything made the pictures look colorful and amazing. The photos taken there was one of my favorite set of photos of all my trips.Â
Shirakawago, a place I would loved to visit again during winter and spent more time there. Due to the lack of time, I can only take pictures of here and there instead of absorb myself. I wanted to visit more museum, more historical stuff, but the time is limited :/
After the day tour, I went to Hikone and stay at the hotel there.
Sunday, the last day letâs make it count. I first planned to go see Tonbokiri in western shiga (which I forgot the name of the place), but because it was so far away and I donât want to wake up early and my main goal was HIkone castle. I ended up with visited Nagahama Castle in the morning. That Sunday probably the day I cursed google map the most because the train schedule in there just not right! I didnât missed the train, but like the map told me it departs at 9, I arrived at 8:50, the trained in the google map is the train that not stop in this station like whatâs going on. And that happened a lot that day, I probably spent like almost 2 hour in (different) train station because the time in google map was earlier than the actual train.Â
Anyway, back to Nagahama castle, a castle built by Totoyomi Hideyoshi
In my opinion, definitely better than Okazaki, the overall atmosphere made it âfeelsâ more significant than Okazaki castle. The view from the tenshuu is very pretty, in which you can actually see Biwa lake.
I just loves this kind of scenery.
After Nagahama, I went to Omi-Hachiman for some unknown reason. Iâm like that awkward person that wouldnât push the stop button because nobody seem to get off at this stop, and just kept riding the bus until many ppl get off. I mean they are Japanese people, they know whatâs good right? Turned out, the popular spot Japanese people are going is like a âdessert parkâ called La Collina, I called it dessert park because they mainly sell dessert there, and âparkâ because they have large greenery area.
Their most famous dessert is Baumkuchen, I personally not that big fan of it, so I bought the small size along with macaron.
Then, I followed google map to Omihachiman canal area to find the bus to get back to the station.
The canal area is what I intended to go.
Iâm glad I was awkward and decided to follow Japanese people because I got have variety of scenic photos.
Next stop, the highlight of this trip Hikone Castle, 1 of the 12 original castles yayyy.
I love Japanese garden, so first visited the garden in the castle area and just like other garden I visited (except Kokura Castle garden), i was not disappointed.
The Hikone Castle, I loved the castle that I have to work my way to see the tenshu. I love climbing, just to see castle.
The view from the tenshu also amazing.
After HIkone, I went back to Nagoya to see my same age co-workers? friends? comrades? again for the last time, and we ate âTaiwanese Ramenâ which just spicy ramen
And then I got back at the airport, which seem very empty at night.
Good bye, Aichi. I hope they will send me there for business trip again next year. Â
If you read this far, stay tuned for another Japan trip, which is like 2 weeks later from this Japan trip.
Summary: Shawn falls for a Valencian girl who's an enormous bookworm.
A/N: as today (well, it's past 12, so technically it was yesterday) is Sant Jordi (a festivity in Spain, specially in AragĂłn and Catalonia), a day commemorating the World Book Day (because of the anniversary of the death of Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes and Garcilaso de la Vega), I thought of this little idea. I'm from Valencia (where the girl is from), so it's just almost 2k of publicity for my city and my language (Catalan). So, if anybody is going to visit or would like to visit the city, I'll be happy to answer any questions. Also, I'm a big bookworm, which is why it's about books and St. Jordi. Anyway, hope you enjoy it!
Word count: 1795 words
One of the first things Shawn learned about Anna was her unending love for books. She didnât mind when it happened, where she was or in whose company, she always had a book between her hands. She couldnât leave the house without something to read, and Shawn had learned that the hard way. During Christmas he had flown out to Valencia, her hometown, to spend some time with her, as he would be starting tour soon, so he wouldnât have the time to see his girl, who was busy with her classes. One night, between Christmas and New Year, he took her out to have dinner and watch a movie. They arrived late to the restaurant, because she realised she didn't have her book with her when they were on their way for 10 minutes.
It isn't surprising, though, considering where he met her. She spent the summer in Toronto, studying English, and she went to a little book shop next to Shawn's building two or three times a week. Shawn saw her one day, roaming the aisles full of shelves and talking to Leonard, the owner, as if she were an old friend, and was intrigued immediately. He noticed she usually was there between 18 and 20, so he went outside around those hours, hoping to see her.
He looked at her black hair, her dark-brown eyes hidden behind considerably thick glasses and her tanned skin. He knew her features so well that he saw her when he closed his eyes. At one point, he started feeling like a stalker, but he couldn't stop thinking about her. He noticed that she wasn't Canadian three weeks after he saw her for the first time, when she left the shop one day talking on her phone. He didn't recognize the language, though he was sure it wasn't French (he surely would've recognized some words). All he knew was that it was beautiful and melodic, so it had to be something between French, Italian and Spanish. He realised that she would be leaving soon (he asked Brian when college started generally, as she was giving off some big nerdy college girl vibes), so he decided he had to talk to her before she did. One day, after he checked she was inside, he entered and talked to her, pretending to be looking for a gift for Aaliyah. He asked for her advice, which she gave very excitedly, and, after 30 minutes, he found the courage to ask her out to have a drink.
If Shawn loved the idea of her, after âstalkingâ her for three weeks, he fell for her the moment she talked to him. He was surprised when she admitted she knew his music, because she was completely cool with the fact that Shawn Mendes himself asked her out. She talked about her dream to become a writer, or, at least, an editor, and he talked about how much he loved writing music. They kept on seeing each other every night after her classes for the last 10 days she spent in the city.
By the time she had to go back to Valencia, the both of them were deeply in love with each other. The only thing stopping him from buying a ticket to go see her were the multiple commitments he had for the next months. The first time he could go see her was end-October, for her birthday. When he got to Valencia and she showed the city to him, he understood her personality. She mirrored the beauty of her city perfectly. He quickly noticed the duality of it: it's got the characteristics of a big city as well as of a small provincial town. It combines century-old history in the centre with a modern and vibrant side more outside. Just like he expected (just by knowing her) the people were nice and welcoming. For the first time in ages, he could enjoy some time without being âthe Rockstarâ all the time, as people seemed to be very chill about him being there.
As tour started in Amsterdam in March (she didn't have so much work around that time), he made sure she was there for the two first shows. She didn't have any classes for a whole week afterwards, but as she quickly explained to him, âIt's Fallas, I can't miss that. Plus, I've already said yes to a billion plans, I won't even be free.â Â So, from the 15th till the 20th of March, he would find after every single show pictures of his bookworm girlfriend at parties, in front of statues that, according to her, were âa form of art, and satireâ (he would have to see them with his own eyes, and maybe actually understand her language to conceive that very deep meaning she was trying to explain). She sent him awfully long videos of fireworks displays, every night longer than the previous one. Through her camera and his screen he was dragged into the festivities of Fallas, something he definitely needed to experience by himself.
His favourite moment of March, though, was the show in Barcelona. She didn't answer the phone for hours, making him anxious, but she appeared out of thin air backstage, sharing a mischievous smile with Brian. Later, he found out that they had been plotting against his sanity for the past hours. That day he saw her really get into the show and the atmosphere. She was fluent in both French and English, but in Barcelona she could speak her native languages, Spanish and Catalan. She surely didn't notice, but he did: she opened up, she chatted with fans and won them over with her charming personality. After all, she was talking to her people. She freaked out when Aitana came backstage and asked for a picture with her âplease, please, pleaseâ . That day, he knew that the love for her culture would always be enormous.
She couldn't make it to the final show in London, because she had an exam on Thursday and the combination of trains, flights and busses was simply impossible, so she just watched it from a video call with Brian. She saw her boy be sick and told him to stay hydrated, she told him how proud she was, but she couldn't help but feel awful because she wasn't there, with all his family and loved ones. When he announced, after the show, that he was going back to Toronto in the morning, she couldn't help but feel slightly disappointed. One part of her understood him completely. He had been away for such a long time that he needed to be in his own bed to recharge. He had studio sessions and SNL coming up, so she shouldn't be surprised that he wasn't coming. He still called her every single day and night, he asked about her classes (didn't she tell him they had 2 weeks of Easter Holiday?) and about the city (the weather was awful, so she didn't leave the house).
The one subject he seemed to avoid was the most pressing one considering the time of the year. To Anna, the most important festivity (even though it wasn't a national holiday, it should be, in her opinion) was St. Jordi. She remembered with a smile the story she heard every year at school. And, even though there were two official days to celebrate love in Valencia (the historical one, Sant DionĂs, on October 9th, and the globalised one, Saint Valentine, on February 14th), she considered Sant Jordi, on April 23rd, the one true lover's day. The traditional gifting of a rose and a book was, in her opinion, the most romantic gesture in a relationship. Well, she didn't really care about the rose (although she couldn't deny the fact that she was a hopeless romantic and she loved to get a rose), she was always eager to know what the book would be. It was also the first Sant Jordi since she started dating Shawn, so she was terrified. Hadn't she made it clear how important the day was to her? He didn't have to fly over, he could just ship a book, or even send her a gift card so she could buy the books herself.
When midday passed on the 23rd, she decided she wouldn't be waiting for him to call alone sitting on her couch. Even though it was raining (surprise, âEn abril, aiges milâ (in April, it rains a lot)), she took her umbrella and raincoat and walked to the book fair. All the stress she had been building for the past weeks vanished when she saw the thousands of books in front of her. She quickly started to look (not buy, that's her strategy: first looking and then deciding on the purchase), and she almost forgot about her boyfriend who'd forgotten about this special day.
But, the same way she kept quiet for the entire day when she went to see him in Barcelona, he didn't talk to her while he was getting to Valencia. Even though he didn't think she'd be at home, he tried, and his suspicions were confirmed by her sister. So, he immediately left for the book fair. With the help of her sister, he found her without attracting too much attention to himself. She was reading the first chapter of a book she seemed to be considering, a second one in her hand to check up on later. He slightly chuckled, because she's the only person who would stop to read the first chapter of a book before deciding on buying or not. He immediately froze, but relaxed rapidly, as his chuckle didn't give away his presence. When she finally was done, she returned one of the books to its place and turned to take her wallet. That moment, she was met with the view of Shawn Mendes with a red rose, her favourite, and a copy of her favourite author's new book. At first, she couldn't believe it, until he walked up to her and whispered in her ear, âit's not that funny to be kept in the dark for so long, isn't it?â She laughed, knowing he was talking about her's and Brian's stunt in Barcelona, promising herself she would never do it again. âIt's not. I thought you didn't remember.â She confessed. âThat was my whole idea.â She couldn't help but glare at him, but he quickly pressed his lips onto hers, smiling in the kiss. âFeliç dia del Llibre, amorâ. (Happy Book Day, love) Shawn said, proud of himself for remembering the phrase completely. She chuckled (he didn't understand why, though, his pronunciation had been excellent), and answered. âFeliç dia de Sant Jordi, amor.â (Happy St. George day, love).
Anyways, I bought my ticket for Day 1 from a friend in Instagram, and she got A Stand in 3rd Base side. They started letting us in at 12 in the afternoon, and it was unexpectedly fast. When we entered the Dome, they were playing MVs, and yes, MVs from 2009! Feels! Watching their MVs on a big screen! I also couldn't contain my excitement since they were showing PVs of their recent released albums and will be releasing, and guess what, they showed VERSUS!!!!! Namidai, Yocchin, and Kakki were so cool! It was a short PV, like 10 seconds? Or 15? But the hype was there! When there were lots of people inside, you could really hear the cheering!
Okay, so I wrote everything I could remember from Day 1! Honestly, I couldn't remember much since Day 2 really had a big impact to me! And yes, Day 1 was really different from Day 2!! I cried lots during Day 1!
We headed to our seat, and actually at first we sat at the wrong row. We thought our seats were at the very top of A Stand, but turned out much closer to the stage! I mean, to the small side stage! I also had a chance to meet with my friend from Twitter, who is from Singapore!
[A-chan, N-chan, and me! When we were still sitting at the top of A stand, we were even getting excited that what if they used cart and go around?! We would be able to see them (well it didn't happen, and we moved closer to the stage]
[International Fans! From Singapore and Canada! Their seat was really close to the stage hahaha!]
~
Five minutes before 3:00 PM, we thought they would start the Reminders for Rules and Regulations, but nah, they played one more MV, and it was Namidai's. After his MV, black screen then Ever Dream played, and after the 2nd chorus, the Rules and Regulations were showed, courtesy by chibi Kiramune Members. And after that, they played Ever Dream again, then finally it's show time!
The intro video really made me cry! Hahahaha! They were all clips from 2009! And the member introduction started with the latest members SparQlew, Yocchin, Trignal, Nobu, Kakki, Namidai, Hiroshi, Miyu, and then special guest! CONNECT! Seriously the cheer was really loud!!
I had no idea what colour should I choose next. I had three, so one of them was Purple for Hiroshi's, but the other two, I kept on changing them.
Then, first song was Bokura no Egaku Mirai, gosh! I stayed with purple, red and white for my blades {Hiroshi, Miyu/Ryouhei, Nobu}. Their entrance was so grand! (Here's a correction here, sorry, I just remembered their entrance, the stage split into half was when CONNECT entered, their entrance was the big moving stage lifted up along with the members, and they moved towards the end stage.) They were all wearing a very flashy clothes of blue, with mostly blue and I think there were shapes on it and the colour of each members were there!
SparQlew's got a part for Bokura no Egaku Mirai, on the first chorus, they got the KAmiYU's part, it was really divided into five of them. And the second chorus, they got the Uncle Bomb part.
Things really get wild on the next one! It's their special medley! The first one was Miyu, and he sang "doko ma demo", and I would be honest, I couldn't concentrate to where should I look, since they just spread! And all I could remember were SparQlew went to the main stage, and the others spread at the long centre stage. So I just searched for Kamiya-san, and he was smiling so bright coming towards to our side! Me and my two friends just lost it, since the three of us Like Kamiya-san! It was special song medley, after Miyu, Hiroshi sang "shirikagiri" at the very end of the middle long stage, yes near us, and I was shouting again!! And sorry, but my eyes just followed him, but when he went to the other side, my eyes just went towards SparQlew members, ChibaSho and Hozumin went down the stage, and made all the fans on our side went crazy. The other three were on the other side. Since yes they went to the smalllll side stage, I could clearly, clearly saw their faces! I am into SparQlew, especially Hozumin! So I really got excited seeing him there!
Lol! Anyways, after Hiroshi, the order was on how they entered Kiramune. Namidai sang UTAO, Kakki sang Endless journey, Nobu sang Hello, Ms. Sunshine, Trignal sang Gentei Kaigi Ready Set Go!, Yocchin sang Wasshoi, and SparQlew sang Hajimari no Sora.
After SparQlew, Miyu finally introduced our nii-sans! The return of CONNECT and the whole dome went wild! The first song was Say Hello! And I was shouting on top of my lung with "Hello! Hello!" While crying! Too much feels when they showed up on top of the small moving stage. The other members were still there, and the dome was really hype-up! CONNECT stayed at the moving stage, and by the end of Say Hello, the members gathered around the small moving stage at the centre of the middle long stage. After Say Hello, CONNECT's next song was cone sen followed by Pride reamer!
After CONNECT, the order of the performers were on how they entered Kiramune. So from CONNECT up to SparQlew.
Again, I would just write all I could remember. And all of them except SparQlew sang 3 songs, and Miyu had a medley song, and the songs were from his early albums.
There was a video playing behind Miyu, his early performance of ă¨ăźăŤ in Kirafes. I couldn't help but cry again, since it was his debut song, and first Kirafes performance. After that, he had a song medley, five songs from his early albums.
Hiroshi also sang 3 songs from his early albums, it was really nostalgic! My tears really didn't want to stop! The butterflies at the background were so beautiful!ďźçŹďź
Namidai sang Yellow Man from his new single release, and my tears just stopped, yes, literally stopped! So Namidai started from the end of the middle long runway stage, and at the very main stage there was a tall yellow ranger came out, and he danced 'gui gui (do it)' the dance step from Yocchin's song, idk if you watched the Kirafes2015 one, the encore part. Because of that Namidai asked him "aren't you Egu?!" Though he denied, we all knew who it was. I think Yellow ranger was there for only 15 seconds.
Kakki was up next, and we were looking for him, we could hear his voice, but nowhere to be found, but then on the other side of the dome, people start cheering. He was on a big cart! A cart with Kiramune logo star on it! ăŞăˇăŁăŹ!
Next was Nobu! Oh, I could remember very well when he sang Sai Saikou, he used both the small stages on each side. I couldn't help but fangirl too much since I could clearly see Nobu's face while singing Sai Saikou! I really love this song! He sang it with KAmiYU last Kirafes, then he sang it this year again, and I was able to see it closer!Â
I apologize for Yocchin but during his part, I went to the washroom! But I could hear his voice, and there was fireworks. I returned exactly at the end of his 3rd song. He was playing guitar for Dramatic Surf Coaster!!!!!! Actually, I regret missing this part!!!
Trignal was up next, and I never thought that they would sing Message From Live first! My memory here was a bit hazy. Because their entrance on 2nd day had a big impact, I couldn't remember at all! But I could remember that they were on cart, not the same with Kakki, but the usual small ones.
SparQlew was next, and they performed two songs from their new album, Bokutachi no Horizon and Abracadabra! They were so cute! So cute! The dance step levelled up! To why I said that, I apologize but when I watched KF2018 Bluray, you could still see that they werenât in synch still, but this year, man they nailed it!
After SparQlew, it was talk corner. First day, SparQlew with CONNECT, Miyu, and Kakki. I would try to remember what they talked about here. But, they talked about the weather. They were somehow blaming Iwata-san since he is an Ame-otoko, but thankful since Suzu-san was there, and he is hare-otoko. There was one time that it became so bright on our part, and they were worried on the other side since we could feel the warm, but the other side was freezing. I could remember they were saying how CONNECT were really ojiisan since SparQlew members were with them. I couldn't remember if it was during the MC talk, but they talked about SparQlew's hair. Since Hozumin, ChibaSho and Takuto had their hairs dyed, and they didn't want their hairs to be the same. Also, they talked about their Kirafes experienced, since last year they were only guests, and their real first Kirafes was in MetLife Dome. Also, Kakki and Takuto already had planned to have a drink once Takuto become 20 years old! Also Miyu pronounced SparQlew with perfect English!
1. What big corporation(s) do you support, particularly because you like what they stand for (many vegan items, donate large amount of money to charities, pay their workers a living wage, etc)?
I donât think thereâs any I support just for that reason to be honest. If Iâm being even more honest, I donât really look into what they stand for. Well, except for when it comes to makeup and I see the âcruelty freeâ logo then I buy those. Thatâs all that immediately comes to mind.Â
2. For those who menstruate or have in the past, is it worse to deal with a period in the summer or winter time? Why do you feel that way over the other season?
For me it was horrible all year round because I had really bad PMS/PMDD. Summer certainly didnât help; though, because that makes me miserable enough already.
3. If you wear foundation or have in the past, what type of applicator do you use (beauty sponge, foundation brush, fingers, etc)? Is there a type of applicator that doesnât work for you?
I use a sponge.Â
4. For those of you that do listen/watch ASMR videos, what are your favorite âtriggersâ? If you donât watch ASMR, what are your thoughts on the whole phenomenon that seemed to happen the past couple years over it?
I love ASMR. If you read my surveys and the question is, âWhat are you listening toâ or something along those lines, my answer is almost always âAn ASMR videoâ lol. Itâs been a thing on YouTube for several years, but it started off with a small community and then really grew over the past few years. The past couple of years it has gained recognition in the news and there was even a Superbowl beer commercial with Zoe Gravitz. Thereâs also those videos where various celebrities try ASMR. Iâm glad itâs getting talked about more and people are learning about it because it has a stigma to it and people who donât understand think itâs weird or sexual. Itâs not inherently sexual, but like other things it can be made that way. Anyway, ASMR is a sensation Iâve experienced since I was a kid, but I only just learned there was a name for it about 4 years ago. I remember feeling it as a kid when someone would brush or play with my hair, and when someone was reading a book or magazine and like the sounds of the pages turning. Those things are definitely some of my triggers. My favorite types of videos are hairstylist role plays, applying makeup, receptionist with typing and writing sounds videos, and stuff like that. I prefer the role play style ones over just straight tapping on items videos. I also like ones where theyâre not talking as well, I donât care for the no talking videos.Â
5. Are there any true crime cases that bothers you immensely because of the story or verdict of the court case (ex. OJ Simpson)?
Plenty. Particularly ones that involve the murder of children. I can never understand that. Also, I donât understand how Casey Anthony got away with it.Â
6. When looking for discounted events or activities, where are you most likely to look for these deals (besides Google or other big search engines)?
Google is really all I would use, though.
7. What is your favorite type of lip balm (brand, scent, what ingredients are in it, etc)? What about sunscreen or other sun protecting products?
I like EOS. As for sunscreen, I like to use ones with the highest SPF.Â
8. What store(s) do you have the worst time finding clothing/accessories in because they donât cater to your body type (disregard price and other factors when considering)? If this isnât something you struggle with, what store(s) do you think people might struggle finding clothing options in if they were the opposite body type as you?
I hear people talk about stores like H&M, Forever 21, and Victoriaâs Secret because their sizes are too small.
9. Do you use store loyalty programs? If you donât use them, what is your reasoning behind that? What store loyalty programs do you feel offer the best incentives, regardless if you arenât a member of them?
Like the rewards programs? If itâs something for free and I get points or coupons or whatever for what I spend then sure. If I have to pay for something then nah.
10. When it comes to skincare, what product could you not go without over the other ones? Where are you most likely to shop for your skincare needs?
I honestly donât use any except for water and a moisturizer sometimes. It works for me. I should use the moisturizer more, though.
11. Regardless if you arenât someone who hoards or keeps stuff for a long time, what is one (type of) item that you have a hard time getting rid of?
I am that type of person. I have a hard time getting rid of anything. Like, I used to even keep receipts and shoe boxes for the longest, but I got better about that. I do still keep birthday cards, brochures, ticket stubs, things like that. OH I used to hoard homework assignments, binders, and notes and not even just for the current school year, Iâd have stuff from years prior lol. I eventually got rid of that stuff as well. Now my biggest issue is clothes. I have way too many. Itâs to the point where I have a dresser, a hamper full of clean clothes, and a mountain of clothes on my bed. I know I could get rid of a lot of it, but I have a really hard time with doing so for some reason. A lot of it I havenât worn in a long time and probably never will again. I really, really need to go through it all again and try to get rid of some, though. :/Â
12. If you eat meat, what is at least one vegan item (not necessarily a banana) that you like or would like trying (such as a trying a soy ham substitute)? If you donât eat meat, what is one meat item that you like and understand why people eat it?
I donât know. Iâm so picky, so I donât know if Iâd like vegan âchickenâ tenders or burgers or anything like that, really.
13. What is a food that is always better homemade? How about a food that is always better at a restaurant?
I like the homemade meals my family makes, but I like a lot of takeout foods, too. I like both versions of foods, it just depends what Iâm in the mood for. I definitely prefer getting pizza, chicken tenders, and french fries from restaurants/fast food places, though. The frozen stuff you put in the oven or microwave at home just doesnât cut it. Basically all the fried stuff.Â
14. If you watched teen dramas growing up (such as 90210 or One Tree Hill), which one was your favorite or you liked the best? If you watched family sitcoms growing up (such as Full House or The Fresh Prince), which one was your favorite or liked the best?
I like The OC, Degrassi, and Boy Meets World (does that count?) for teen dramas. As for family sitcoms, I liked Full House, Step by Step, Family Matters, and Roseanne. There were others, but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.
15. What is a tradition either within your country or family that you feel is not needed or could in fact even be bad (ex. using paper plates for every party, eating hot dogs every weekend during the summer, etc)?
Ew, some people eat hot dogs every weekend during the summer? I canât judge the paper plates thing because we use them a lot. Theyâre very convenient for me. The person before me said 4th of July traditions, which I could understand because of the fireworks. Theyâre obviously dangerous. And LOUD. Theyâre pretty to look at, but yeah I can see how theyâre problematic.Â
youâre probably rolling your eyes rn, but itâs true because iâve already had all my reputation shows. this is a thank you post to @taylorswiftâ.  to thank her for the out of body experience that happened on 5-12-18. above is a picture of me. iâm sam!! and i would do anything for taylor allison swift!!
iâve been a swiftie since 2014, but i wish i could go back in time and have become a swiftie earlier in my life! but donât you dare doubt me when i say that i know every word to every song, from iâd lie to maryâs song, from sweeter than fiction to come in with the rain, from shake it off to you belong with me! my room is plastered in posters of @taylorswiftâ and i finally decided to start a tumblr.Â
i remember watching the new romantics tour video and thinking âi canât even imagine seeing her in real lifeâ because for the past 4 years iâve just been watching her life in pictures, dreaming impossible dreams. but then...
reputation dropped. the blackout happened. i didnât know what was going on, i was excited and scared. but i knew that taylor swift was not over. look what you made me do dropped. i remember crying on my floor and asking my cat if it was real. if it was real that taylor was back. i played look what you made me do on repeat until gorgeous dropped, then call it what you want. and then reputation dropped. and i just about died. itâs still the best album iâv ever heard from anybody, and iâm just so happy that iâm able to be a swiftie in this era. but one thing that stood out was that there would be a freaking tour. i had a chance. i looked at the tour dates. santa clara is 4 hours away, easy, and the tickets were pricey, but i wished and wished and wished. Â
it happened. it was new years eve, my 13th birthday. (coincidence??? i think not) my family was driving home from going out to lunch and my mom said, âyou know what, why donât you open some presents a little earlyâ and i was like âheck yesâ and she handed me this giant bag. everything was tied with a ribbon, so i had to pull everything out one by one. first, it was mt 5th copy of reputation, then it was the reputation t shirt, and then it was another target magazine, and then... lyrics written on cards. i was already crying from the merch, but then... there was a little envelope at the end. i opened it, and i started sobbing. i screamed so loud, because there in my hands, were two reputation tour tickets. i kept screaming âiâm going to breath the same air as her?? be in the same stadium as her???â Â
i got to work. i had 5 months till tour, and i spent those five months counting down the days, fantasizing about costumes and the set list, watching that new romantics video but with more positive thoughts in mind. i made me costume, i made me sign. i was ready for it. Â
spoiler alert: i was NOT ready for it
my mom and i drove the 4 hours, listening to @taylorswift the whole way. funny story: our car got broken into, so we stopped at my aunt and uncleâs house, and i thought it was literally the sweetest thing that when i walked in, they were playing shake it off in their kitchen. for me. so thatâs why the window is taped up. but we didnât let it affect our concert, we shook it off. Â
we got to the stadium, safe and sound. my heart was pounding, i was shaking and breathing heavily when i got there. i had to throw my sign away, but i was good with it.Â
i got my very own snake ring at the merch trucks, and a tour t shirt that is probably my most prized possesion. again, words cannot describe how freaked out i was. i was saying âyou mean... taylor allison swift is less than a mile away from me right now???â Â
i painted my nails to say âi heart tsâ and i drew a 13 on my hand. Â
my mom was sick but she still came to the concert with me, so we were getting an iced coffee for her. but while we were in line... the lights turned off. the stadium went black. i screamed, my mom and i ran to our seats. we stumbled through people rushing to their seats, but we made it. i was sobbing. the iconic âBABY LET THE GAMES BEGINâ began after the iconic opening video and by then i was hyperventilating. @taylorswift came on and i was screaming and i kept saying to my mom âsheâs right there!! taylor swift is right there!!!â and i was a mess but i think i was the mess she wanted. Â
my mom took a ton of pictures of me screaming the lyrics, i think this was during ready for it. Â
idsb was probably my favorite part of the show. i was shook and wigless from the vocal shows and the insane fireworks. at this point i was screaming âTHIS IS THE BEST PART MOM THIS IS THE BEST SONGâ Â
and then at the end of idsb she smiled that smile of hers and looked out at that endless ocean of crowd and i realized i was part of that endless ocean of crowd so i just kept screaming at the top of my lungs âI LOVE YOU TAYLORâ and âI WOULD DIE FOR YOUâ Â
taylor did a speech before gorgeous and called me gorgeous and that really does a lot for your self esteem so
love story and style and you belong with me were amazing, the holy trinity honestly. Â
she played look what you made me do and I SAW KARYN BUT I DIDNâT KNOW HER NAME YET and i was probably the only one singing the background vocals in end game and it felt a m a z i n g
she did her little delicate speech and i was like âPREACH GURLâ because she started talking about her break and how feeling lonely is different than feeling alone and i really felt that yaâ know? literally anything that comes out of her mouth is gold. Â
and then this queen pulled the best day out of her little pocket full of sunshine and surprise songs from 2009??? and it was really emotional for me and my mom because thatâs our song and we both were singing it together and hugging and i started crying again. Â
SHE SANG BLANK SPACE AND I DID THE SANTA CLARA BACKGROUD VOCAL THING OFC AND I LOOK AT HER HITTING THAT HIGH NOTE IâM SO PROUD OF HER VOCAL SKILLS
also i witnessed @taylorswift take off her dress but itâs cool itâs chill nobody freaking out over there i was completely calm and composed you know how i feel about taylor swift, i just think sheâs alright and everything she does is nothing specialÂ
and then the bad blood and SHOULDâVE SAID NO mashup came on and i died and rose up from the dead to take this picture my mom was like âletâs take a pictureâ and i was like âiâm too busy dancingâ but then i let her take a picture of me...
the humming. the humming in donât blame me. could it be... my STAN SONG??? THE BEST SONG TAYLOR ALLISON SWIFT HAS EVER RELEASED?? HUH?? ALL THE VOCALS AND THE BRIDGE AND THE CHORUS AND EVERY SINGLE LYRIC MY HEART WAS POUNDING I WAS THE LOUDEST ONE IN THE STADIUM AND I DIED DEAD DONT BLAME MEEEEE
also LONG LIVE AND NEW YEARS DAY um excuse me while i drown in my tears
POEMS WERE READ TEA WAS SPILLED and then i heard âno nothin good starts in a getaway carâ and I L O S T I T
here i am in hysterics again, screaming âWE NEVER HAD A SHOTGUN SHOT IN THE DARKâÂ
(iâm skipping around bc i donât have that many pictures)
the âoooOOOOooOOOOhâ in WANEGBT started playing and once again, i lost my composure. Â
in conclusion, it was the best night of my entire life. and iâm serious about that. i saw @taylorswift with my own eyes. i saw her in real life, her hot glue gun scar and her hella good hair, and it was unforgettable. i saw her play the album that i love so dearly. she taught me lessons in that stadium, lessons about loneliness and love and disappearance. no, i didnât meet her in reproom. obviously i wanted to (i would give anything to) but it wasnât about meeting her. Â
it was about being with her. being too busy dancing to get knocked off our feet with her. in that stadium, i felt free of judgement and i was able to dance and sing and have the time of my life. and for that, i want to thank @taylorswift. for putting on a show that iâll look back on and smile and possibly cry. i want to thank the dancers and the band and the background singers for making it even better, and i want to thank the people who clean up the glitter after the party. thank you @taylorswift. ever since may 12th, iâve been doinâ better than i ever was.
scenes from a post-series space war epic that i will probably never actually write - anyway this is what happens when i read too much star trek au lol - rated mature
In the mess Lance grimaced at his dinner tray. With one hand he flicked the edge of the dinged metal, watching it rattle. Something gelatinous and vaguely green-colored jiggled in protest.
âI thought I left behind space goo,â he muttered. âGod, I would actually kill for some macânâcheese.â
âHomemade or Kraft?â asked Matt.
Lance wrinkled his nose, looking up at the man diagonally across him, holo-displays arrayed about his own half-eaten dinner as he scrolled through cramped lines of glowing text. A lens in his glasses was cracked. The left, and Matt kept reaching his hand up to rub against his eyebrow, probably not even registering the pain of eye-strain, let alone the gesture itself.
âEither,â Lance admitted. âHell, Iâd toss you out of an airlock if it got me a single packet of string cheese, Holt. Whatâre you looking at?â
Ignoring the threat, Matt shrugged with an awkward, bird-like hunch of his shoulders. With the hand not pressing into his eye socket he grasped blindly for his spoon and scooped a bit of processed nutrients onto it. Lance watched it slip off the side with a grimace and roll of his stomach.
âNot sure yet. Let you know when I find out, though, if you havenât killed me yet.â
âDeal,â Lance grinned.
Sharp, quick footsteps sounded out behind him. Lance felt his spine tense at the sound; only a soldier on a mission could sound quite like that, after all. He was entirely unsurprised when he found an Ensign hovering at this elbow, hesitant to interrupt.
âHeâll fuss if you donât finish your dinner,â Matt said, voice mild with distraction.
Lance ignored him and the truth of that statement. Turning, he propped his cheek on a fist, elbow sliding onto the table and butting his tray away from him. He smiled crooked at the young woman standing in front of him, uniform neat. New recruit, probably; not yet worn down by the reality of her new station.
âWhy, hello there. What can I do for you?â
She blinked, startled. âAh. Your husband --â
Matt choked down a snort, badly. Lanceâs eyebrows rose toward his hairline, grin growing. He watched as a mortified, mottled blush flooded her face. âYour -- I mean! The Captain requests your presence in his ready room,â she gasped, horrified.
It was always awkward when gossip got mixed into official business. Well, for others. Not for Lance. Lance ate that shit up like a five-star meal.
âMm,â he hummed. âMy husband wants to see me, does he? And in the ready room? Goodness, goodness.â
âLieutenant Commander McClain,â the Ensign croaked out, nearly quivering. âI apologize. I didnât mean --â
âItâs fine,â Lance said, flapping his free hand at her. âWhat was your name, Ensign?â
âAdams,â she squeaked.
âThank you, Ensign Adams. Back to your post, then. Iâll go and see whatâs bothering sweet cheeks.â
The Ensign made a strangled noise, swaying where she stood.
âYouâll get used to him,â Matt offered. Then he hesitated before admitting, âMaybe. Hopefully? Okay, probably not. Heâs a mess. But hey, if youâre hungry, heâs not going to finish his food, you know. Youâre, hmm. Very pretty for an Ensign, miss. What was your first name, again?â
Lance dropped his fist, turning to stare incredulously at his lead scientist who was gazing with open admiration at a woman nearly half his age and no where near his ranking. âYou are forty years old, old man.â
âBut Iâm not dead,â Matt said, voice plaintive. Jesus, Lance hoped he hadnât been that -- no, he had definitely been that bad. Ugh.
Lance said, voice clipped and professional, but deliberately warm, âDismissed, Enisgn Adams. And if this grandpa tries to bother you come straight to me and Iâll toss his ass out of the airlock, understood?â
She nodded frantically and -- smart woman -- escaped before they could say anything else. Matt made a displeased noise. âMarriage has changed you, McClain.â
Lance snorted. âSure, it wouldnât have anything to do with age, and the passing of time, and the appearance of maturity. Or, you know, a war weâve been fighting for --â
âShut uuup,â Matt said, letting his spoon fall into his goo with a splat.
â-- what, a decade? An eternity? Ugh, yes, blame it all on monogamy, thatâs the ticket.â Lance sniffed, and rose from his chair. âHave fun with your reports, Commander. I am going to go and see my husband. And possibly get some. If Iâm very lucky and very, very naughty.â
âSure, sure,â Lance muttered as he ambled away. He heard the scrape of his tray against the table as Matt commandeered it. âDoesnât even blink at the death threats -- but the mention that Iâve got a real sex life? Suddenly itâs all business, no fun.â
He grinned, and hurried through the halls to the Captainâs ready room.

âIâm getting too old for this,â Shiro sighs, unzipping a boot and letting it fall to the floor with a hollow thunk. âWhatâs the official age of being Too Old For This Shit, anyway? Forty-five? Fifty? Seventy-three and a half?â
âOddly specific,â Lance calls back, squinting at the dark shadows beneath his eyes beneath the clouded mirror. âHow about -- when weâre dead?â
âOddly morbid.â
Lance listens to the thunk of the other boot, and then hears the small clink of Shiro unbuckling his belt. He purses his lips and angles his chin, examining the texture of his skin and despairing at what he finds. But there wonât be another shipment from Earth for a month, at least, and it is unlikely that even when the supplies arrived -- if they arrived; Lance tried not to deal in absolutes anymore -- his preferred facial cream wouldnât be amongst them.
âShiro,â he said, stepping back from the sink and tilting his head back to stare at the rusted rivets in the ceiling. Theyâre probably smoother than his skin at this point. âShiro. I... am officially ugly.â
A loud snort comes from the bedroom.
âI mean it, Shirogane! My skin is -- ugh, I canât go on like this. How can you love me with a face this hideous? My skin is so dry, I think I might already be dead. A mummy! Just bits of me flaking off, now, all my early glory lost to the annals of time, and -- SHUT UP, SHIRO, IâM BEING DRAMATIC.â
âYouâre being absurd,â Shiro corrects, voice much closer, now. Lance tips his head back far enough that he can make Shiro out. He is standing just inside the door to the bathroom, broad shoulders taking up the space. Heâs grinning. Heâs also shirtless and pantsless and covered in scars and space-pale and beautiful.
âYouâre space-crazy,â Lance says, still staring at him upside down. âThis post has made you nuts, bud, or youâve gone blind. Itâs the only reasonable explanation.â
âOr,â says Shiro, nearly patient; the fuzzy edge of his voice betrays his amusement, however, âyouâre being overly dramatic, because you are still the most beautiful being Iâve ever laid eyes on, Lance.â
âHnn.â
Shiro comes closer, kissing Lanceâs hairline. âCome to bed,â he murmurs. âLet me prove it.â
The position is making him dizzy, his heart pounds; that, and the promise in Shiroâs voice, the warmth of his lips against Lanceâs skin. He lets his eyes close in a soft sigh, and surrenders.

âRaptor-7 locked on to target, go for engagement.â
âCopy that, Raptor-7,â said Lance, fingers rolling against the controls of his B-Ray, gloves crinkling with the motion. His vid-screen showed a vista of stars and darkness lit up with tightly furled clouds of red-orange-yellow fire; the blurred, twin yellow lights of other B-Rays cut through the dwindling ranks of Yâks Hex Fighters, leaving hazy streaks that faded and dwindled as they assumed positions.
âRaptor-3 locked on target! Go for engagement!â
âRaptor-12 is locked and loaded, squad leader! Go for engagement.â
âAcknowledged, Raptor-3, Raptor-12. Whatâs your status Raptor-4? And -- Oi! Watch your flank, Raptor-11, shake that Hex before --â
A new explosion bloomed like a silent firework on the edge of his vid-screen. The monitor to his left, near his elbow, that kept track of all the ships in his squadron beeped, alerting him to the destruction of one of his own. Lance could feel the way the skin of his face tightened, but he hadnât the time to flinch, or even to curse.
âHold your positions, kiddos,â he barked into his com, seeing the way two Hex Fighters were trying to cut Raptor-6 from the pack. With an almost insolent tilt of his controls, Lance felt his B-Ray curve into motion, picking up speed. âAnd kill any bastard that comes near, you hear me? Raptor-6, evasive maneuver Alpha-Gold!â
âCopy that, Raptor-Daddy!â
Lance squawked, coming up beneath the two engaged Hex Fighters just as Raptor-6 did an impressive corkscrew back the way sheâd come. Lance fired as the enemy attempted to engage, slowing as they pulled up and reversed course, blue energy trails going fat and sluggish against the black.
âThat is definitely not appropriate,â Lance said, breathless as the two ships exploded and Raptor-6 soared free. â...I like it, keep calling me that. Best designation, ever!â
A crackle in the cockpit announced a private line from command; Lance grinned, heart pounding. Sweat was pooling down his spine, his neck felt tight, tense at the base of his skull. But he had no time for fear or worry or admittance of the two. âUh oh,â he told his squad. âLooks like Daddyâs in trouble.â
âMcClain,â barked Iversonâs voice, stern. âIs now really the time for this foolishness? Havenât you a job to be doing? Do you want to die? Youâve already lost --â
âOh, no!â Lance yelped, lifting a leg to aim for the comm control with his knee. âI think Iâm having interference! Talk to you later, Admiral, so sorry, you know how much I love these little chats of ours!â
âMCCLAIN,â roared Iverson, before Lance had the outside comm cut off.
It was just him and his squad, now, in the black of space far from home. He said, âListen up, kiddos. That is a Yâks Model Signa Cruiser, fully combat-ready. You all know its weaknesses. We canât let that fucker past Saturn, you hear?â
A chorus of grim but heartfelt acknowledges reached him.
Lance grinned, feeling his pulse race just as he reclaimed his position. Beyond the few straggling Hex Fighters loomed the massive, bulbous bulk of a ship armed with enough explosives to rip apart a planet. From its side streamed more Hex Fighters. They had to take it down before the enemy was able to replenish its ranks sufficiently.
Sorry, he thought, sparing a moment to press a gloved thumb against the picture tucked into his console, but refusing to look at it. Instead, he kept his eyes on the prize.
âGo time, my darlings,â he murmured into the comm. As he gunned the engine, streaking forward with his fellow pilots trying to match his pace as they rushed the enemy line, Lance couldnât help but grin.
7 Things They Donât Tell You About the Disney College Program
Itâs important to be realistic about the program. Everyone says that Disney World is the Happiest Place on Earth, but any Cast Member will tell you that it can be filled with the MOST unhappy people. The pedestal Disney sits on really makes it hard for Cast Members to please guests, because they expect perfection. But we are human, and we can often be looked upon as the villains of Disney World, but #VilliansArePeopleToo.
Before my program started, I had So. Many. Questions. But once training began, I quickly found out that this experience was going to be a lot different than I expected. Here are a few of the surprises I have received in the 5 months Iâve been Making Magic.
Your Hours
Nothing is guaranteed. Depending on your job (merhandise, custodial, seater (đđźââď¸), quick service food and beverage (đđźââď¸), water craft, bus greeter, character attendant, photopass photographer, attractions) you may work 30 hours a week, you may work 50. There are so many factors that go into how often you work. A lot of people donât have time to spend in the parks like you think they would. Sometimes even on your day off, youâve spent the week working until 1 or 2 am and you just donât have the energy to go play in the parks. Just be prepared for crazy shifts. Sometimes I work until 12:30/1:00 and have to wake up and be at work by 7:30/8:30 in the morning. It all depends on your leaders, your location, and your job.
Your Paycheck
In correlation with your hours, your paychecks will often be disappointing. In the 5 months Iâve worked here, Iâve hit $200 twice. After taxes and rent (which they take out $122 a week for your living) thereâs not much left. So a lot of people still get help from family or work part time jobs on their off days (which sounds exhausting..) But again, it depends on your hours and location! Some people make pretty good money.
Your Job(s)
Yes. Thatâs plural. I came into the DCP as a seater (hostess) at The Wave...Of American Flavors. Within three months, I was cross trained in 4 other locations. Being honest, I absolutely hate a few of them, and I didnât sign up to work in Quick Service Food and Beverage. College Program kids (AKA CPâs) ALWAYS get the short end of the stick, and are almost always crosstrained in other areas. So no matter what you sign up for, be open minded to other locations. Donât be surprised to get a phone call an hour before your shift to let you know to pick up a different costume before you come in. Or moved to a Disney Vacation Club Lounge half way through your shift in a restaurant... Disney đđť is đđť alwaysđđť shortđđť staffed đđť Which is why CPâs are so valuable. We work for less pay, and we are On Site temporary employees. So they use us up as much as possible. Itâs not perfect, but we get into the parks for free so đ¤ˇââď¸ depends on how you look at it.
Your Perks
Honestly, they never get old. I still cry during The Happily Ever After Firework Show every single time even though I have it memorized. The Magic never gets old, even when you learn the Back Stage happenings.
Holidays are the best times to work at Disney. Other than the insane crowds of people, we get so many discounts. From Thanksgiving to Valentineâs Day, all merchandise for Cast Members (AKA CMâs) is 40% off. And itâs fantastic. As a Spring CP I only got a month and a half of this amazing perk, so I envy the Fall CPâs who got this for the majority of their program.
Discounts vary for CMâs. We do receive a consistent 20% off all merchandise but itâs not on Alcohol. Restaurant and food discounts change from month to month and are updated in a newsletter. They are often only for breakfast and lunch, or the percentages change with the time of day. We donât get ANY discounts on food during most holidays. Ticket Discounts vary with the time of year as well, discounts on tickets are the best during non peak season. Discounted Tickets are purchased at Disney Univeristy (yes itâs a real place).
The best perk of all is daily, all access, free admission to the parks. The only time this is not a thing is during block out dates for newer attractions (such as Pandora and Toy Story Land). We do receive guest tickets, but we have to work for them. All Disney Interns are required to work 350 hours to receive 3 free Guest Park Hopper Tickets, and you receive one free Glue Guest Ticket after youâve completed the infamous Disney training, Traditions.
Your People
Everyone can confidently say that Disney only hires certain kinds of employees to better guarantee the best possibly customer service to guests. And that is completely the truth. Iâve never met more people in my life that I get along with. Going through training was insane and everyone was so nice. I havenât had one bad experience with a Cast Member interaction.
There is an extensive personality test that every CP has to take before being accepted into the program. And a lot of people get rejection letters after this part, but honestly itâs really cool. Iâve never been surrounded by other Disney-loving, movie-sing-along, so-in-touch-with-their-inner-child, nerds in my entire life and itâs amazing. My coworkers and my roommates have become some of the best friends I will probably ever have. As someone who missed out on the close knit friend group in college, this was one of the best decisions I couldâve ever made.
Your Apartment
Apartment is a nice word, I prefer the term âGlorified Dorm Room.â Itâs not great, but itâs not bad either. You can live with up to 8 people in an apartment and there are 4 Disney owned Apartment Complexes: Patterson Court, Vista Way, The Commons, and Chatham Square. Theyâre all pretty much the same, except Vista Way is the Oldest and the rooms are smaller, and The Commons is the only one that has washer and dryers in every apartment. You do share a room with one or two other people and sleep in a twin bed. Each bedroom has their own bathroom so at least itâs nice not to have 8 people to one bathroom.
There are rules. Thereâs a 2 am curfew for all guests. Overnight guests are not allowed. You must show yours Cast Member ID at the gate EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. you come home.... And there are two types of apartments, Wellness and non-Wellness; basically, alcoholic or non-alcoholic. Therefore underage CPâs must all live together, or if you are 21 and donât drink, you can definitely live with younger CPâs if you want to. All housing roommates must have the SAME arrival and departure dates. You can link up with other CPâs during the registration process and request your roommates, but itâs never guaranteed.
With such a tight living situation, your roommates are your outlet. Literally no one else in your life is going to fully understand what you do on a daily basis. And if youâre the type of person who doesnât want to come home to a ton of people, itâs ok. Your roommates are all going to be on completely different schedules. In my apartment there were only 3 of us, out of 6, home at one time.
Your Time
Like College and most other things in life, the College Program is what you make of it. There are so many Pros and Cons that you might not expect from something that sounds like the most perfect job on earth. Everyone has bad days. But then you go to Magic Kingdom and watch the fireworks, and you remember why you did this in the first place. Iâve heard almost every CP say at least once, âScrew this, Iâm self-terming in the morning...â but then you make a little girlâs day just by giving her a Minnie Mouse sticker. When you watch her run back to her parents and shove her new treasures in their faces, you remember why you wanted to work here. To Make Magic.
