🏖Muy buenas, ratones de biblioteca🏖 Me apetecía leer algo de fantasía así que he decidido empezar Las Crónicas de Narnia de C.S. Lewis, y lo he hecho por el sexto libro publicado, el primero en orden cronológico de la historia: El Sobrino del Mago. ✨Opinión✨ 😕 No es el mejor inicio de saga, pero no quiero precipitarme 😕 Incluso en las reseñas de los libros que no me han gustado demasiado intento buscarle el lado positivo, e intentaré que esto no sea la excepción. No mentiré, el ritmo de la historia es demasiado lento para mí, y el autor se centra en descripciones demasiado extensas: es verdad que Narnia es un sitio súper bonito y el concepto de su creación es bastante original, pero tenía que saltarme líneas para seguir avanzando en la narrativa. Por otra parte creo que existen escenas con demasiadas explicaciones de cómo se ha llegado a cierto punto, y a partir de la segunda mitad del libro sentí que todo iba demasiado apurado. Por otro lado, pienso que los personajes están desarrollados de una forma tan vaga que no me dio tiempo de empatizar con ellos. La influencia del cristianismo en el autor está muy presente en el libro y no lo veo mal, al contrario, me parece bastante original aplicar conceptos de esa religión en algunos elementos de la historia. En fin, como explicación del origen de Narnia, El Sobrino del Mago está bastante bien y trae conceptos bastante originales, pero en general como libro me pareció un poco flojo. 🌻Book Review🌻 The Magician’s Nephew By C.S. Lewis • This is the origin story of Narnia. Digory’s cowardly Uncle tricks Polly and Digory into using his magic rings. They find themselves in a Wood between the Worlds, a magical forest with endless pools of water, each with leading to another land. They have the unfortunate luck of travelling to a world where they encounter an evil sorceress. She forces them back to London, intending to take over the world. To escape London they end up in a nothing world. A world that will soon become Narnia. We see how everything in Narnia is created and all the magic that comes with it. • This book was written as the sixth book in the Narnia series, but chronologically it comes first. You can read this before the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. • I can’t believe I had never read this! The creation of Narnia is awesome. It’s filled with wonderful descriptions and is where we first meet Aslan in his all his glory as the creator of all things. He is magnificent! The talking animals and magical creatures that emerge are so lovable! They are good-hearted, over-the-top joyful and hilarious. • Polly is a very sensible girl, I liked this about her. She thought about the situations they might walk into and what the consequences might be. It wasn’t just some stupid kids walking into dumb situations, even though Digory sometimes wanted to do things without thinking. I liked their logical approach to everything. • There is a fair bit of biblical allegory. Jadis, the witch is twisted, dark and cruel. She represents temptation and rebellion. We see this when she tries to get Digory to take a bite of the magical apple. • For anyone who loves Narnia and hasn’t read this get onto it now. • “Creatures, I give you yourselves,” said the strong, happy voice of Aslan. “I give you forever this land of Narnia. I give you the woods, the fruits, the rivers. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew book review: For a such a short story, the book contained a lot of wonder, maguc, and adventure. I am kind of surprised that the movies started with the second book. The first book provided well-detailed worlds of Charn and Narnia. The imagery of the story was dark and gruesome, as well as bright and colorful. One of things I really love about this story is its similarities with the Bible, or in this matter, the Christianity religion. Both Polly and Digory, as well as the Cabby and his wife, as Sons and Daughters of Adam. The area where the apples grew was also reference to the Garden of Eden. The Witch tempting Digory to bring the Apple to his mother was also an allegory to the serpent. I had read this entire series before, and I cannot believe I had restarted it. It was truly one of my favorite series, and I am loving this adventure ahead.
