— when he almost gets caught
Tumblr media
Masterlist.
Bakugou is a bit of a creep in this one, but I promise it’s just because he’s so obsessed with reader okay?
Warnings: 18+, dubconish, pervy photographs, male masturbation.
Pairing: Bakugou Katsuki x f!reader.
Word Count: 1.5k.
Tumblr media
One of the first things Bakugou did once he started to like you was search for your social media profiles. He knew he shouldn’t have done it, that it was wrong. As your boss he should’ve granted you the privacy that you deserve in your personal life, a side of you that he really had no right to see. But this is what you do to him, he just can’t seem to help himself around you. And your internet footprint wasn’t exactly Fort Knox.
With a few clicks Bakugou could easily access your entire social media footprint, no passwords or accounts required to satiate the itch of missing you when he’s in his large studio apartment late at night, painfully alone. After discovering your extremely public Instagram (he’d have to talk to you about internet security, any pervert could find them!) he’d spent hours scrolling through and admiring each photograph of you. Trying to ignore the ache in his chest whenever he’d see you a little too close to one of your friends, clicking into their profiles to ensure you weren’t actually dating them.
Bakugou had given himself a heart attack on more than one occassion when he thought he’d accidentally double clicked one of your photos to like it, or followed you by mistake. Something he’d foolishly done before, and something he did not want to repeat. One morning he’d been so tired after a grueling night patrol, collapsing into his bed at four in the morning he’d accidentally done the unthinkable and liked his favourite photograph of you. Feeling so lethargic, his fingers had double tapped the screen instead of pinched to enlarge it. Quickly unliking it as he tried to reason with himself that you wouldn’t see it. Not wanting to seem like the shameless creep he was acting like, stalking his employees like this.
But it did leave him wondering sometimes whether you’d mind if he followed you on your social media. You didn’t seem to mind his company, and you’d given him your personal phone number to talk to him about work matters so you couldn’t have been that adverse to it… But there was no way he’d be asking you, instead he was content to scroll through and get these little insights to your life, enjoying the aesthetic food photographs or the scenic ones he probably would have made fun of anyone else for posting— but it was different when it was you, because he loves everything about you.
Bakugou had an entire album in his cellphone dedicated to you now, screenshots of his favourite photographs from your social media so he could shamelessly admire you without the fear of an accidental follow. Pictures that he would be ashamed to admit to anyone that he’d spent many nights fucking his fist to the sight of. It didn’t matter that the pictures were sweet and innocent, it didn’t make him want you any less. The thought of what lay beneath the cosy sweaters and tight jeans had his mind reeling, the curiosity sending a rush of blood direct to his throbbing cock.
But these photographs weren’t enough, not when there are plenty of other eyes that get to admire them whenever and wherever they want. There’s something personal about having photographs of the people you love that are for your eyes only, photos that no one else gets to see.
Oh, Bakugou definitely knew it was wrong. But is it really his fault when you’re so damn beautiful?
It was early one afternoon when he took the chance to get his own candid photograph of you, the office floor deserted for lunch besides the both of you as you stood facing the copier. Bakugou was about to tell you that he was heading out on his patrol and that he probably wouldn’t be back in the office tonight. But that’s the exact moment that the printer decided to jam, a frustrated groan spilled from your lips as you hit the side of the machine roughly.
Bakugou couldn’t help but smirk at your reaction, sending your frustration a mile away as he took a step closer to come to your aid— but that’s when it happened.
You bent over to pull the small drawer out of the side of the machine, peering into the drawer as the fabric of your skirt began to stretch around your ass. Revealing more of your gorgeous thighs as he stopped dead in his tracks to revel at the sight of you.
“Stupid fucking report,” You growled as you began to tug at the papers that were stuck inside the machine, only causing your ass to shake as Bakugou had to bite back a groan.
Bakugou’s cock began to throb beneath his hero suit as he took the opportunity, ignoring the little voice at the back of his head that told him not to do it— aiming his phone camera towards you as he snapped a few photographs of your ass in quick succession.
He should’ve walked over to help you after that, but he couldn’t bring himself to approach you when his cock was painfully hard beneath his pants. Instead turning on booted heels as he made his way back towards his office, his phone clutched tight to his chest.
He was no better than Denki, no better than Mineta as he unlocked the phone to take a look at his bounty. Turning his screens brightness up as high as it would go as he zoomed in on the perfect curve of your ass. Groaning at the way the slit at the back of your pencil skirt rode up so he could see your bare thighs where your stockings ended, trying to see whether there was the print of a panty line against the material as he tried to guess what underwear lay beneath. But the fact that Bakugou couldn’t even see a line only had him speculating even more, wondering exactly what style of panties you were wearing, if you were even wearing any at all.
And god, now the thought of you completely bare inside his office, working so innocently beside him, had his head racing and his cock begging for attention. Palming himself with a soft groan as he pictured sliding the fabric of your skirt up your thighs himself to find out, calloused fingers warm against your skin as you spread those gorgeous thighs for him.
Bakugou couldn’t help it, forgetting about his patrol as he unbuckled his utility belt. Sitting himself down in his plush desk chair as he tugged his pants down just enough to free his aching cock. The head already an angry pink colour as pre oozed from the slit, his thumb smoothing over it to smear the moisture along his length as he hissed sharply through his teeth. Picturing you bent over in the same position as in the photograph across the width of his desk. Giving him the perfect position to slide his throbbing cock inside your tight, wet cunt as he wrapped his fist around his girth tightly. A feeble attempt at mimicking how you’d feel wrapped around him as he began to lazily stroke his cock, sitting back in his chair as half-lidded eyes gazed down at the photograph on his phone.
The photograph that was all for him, for his eyes only.
Gnawing on his lower lip to bite back a groan as he swiped his thumb across his leaky slit, his chest heaving as he continued to think of the most debauched positions with you. Feeling himself edging closer and closer to his release before there was a swift knock on the door.
Bakugou scrambled to fix himself, his phone now laying flat on his desk as he tugged his pants back up over his hips, sliding forward in his chair to hide his throbbing cock beneath the desk as you stepped inside the office. The sultry scent of your perfume immediately wafting into the air and making it difficult to think, his length twitched in response as you continued closer. Laying the hundred page report down onto his desk with a bright smile.
“‘m sorry it took so long, Dynamight.” You murmured sheepishly, “I had some problems with the copier.”
I know, Bakugou was already thinking of a hundred new ways to jam the copier just to have you like that again all for himself.
“S’fine.” Bakugou muttered, trying to push his depraved thoughts to the side, all too aware of his problem beneath the desk.
“Oh, are you heading out on your patrol now?” You surmised as you noticed his outfit, “I’m not keeping you, am I?”
“Nah,” He shook his head, trying to play it cool as though he wasn’t touching himself to an illicit picture of you seconds earlier, “Gonna head out now.”
“Well stay safe, and wrap up warm. I heard there might be snow tonight.”
“I’ll be fine,” Bakugou scoffed, but inside his heart was performing somersaults at the idea that you cared about him.
“I know, I just know you hate the cold.” You smiled as you turned to leave the room, and of course you had to sway that perfect fucking ass again. Bakugou tried to look anywhere else, but his eyes were completely transfixed, biting back a moan of pleasure as you finally shut the door. Leaving him completely alone in his office, late for patrol, with a raging hard on.
Tumblr media
If you hadn’t of been so quick to dismiss your Instagram notifications one drunken night after work, as you’d climbed into your bed at four in the morning. Fighting with your charger as you tried to jab it into the port at the base of your phone, you would’ve noticed one of the banners that showed up said “DynamightOfficial liked your photo.”

RWRB hcs probably pt. 1-
•After they get married everyone (mostly June and Nora) started calling Alex princess. Like, "shut up, princess"
•Henry has read MANY fanfics and written several of his own. This includes a secret five chapter story about him and Alex that stays hidden in the depths of his computer
•I know Taylor Swift is a controversial topic in this fandom, but you cannot tell me Henry "queer historian, writer, and dramatic gay boy" would not jam out to and cry over ts songs alone in his room
•David loves cuddling with Alex, and Henry calls him a traitor, but really he finds it adorable
•Alex has definitely brought some feral animal home that he found on the street hoping to save it and raise it as a pet, and then Henry made him give it to the shelter and he cried all night
•June and Nora get a cat. That's it. They're just cat moms
•When Pez, June, and Nora are all in the same place, they are most likely gonna sleep together
•Phillip gets better and he and Henry are able to work on mending their relationship after Mary dies and neither of them have to deal with her manipulation and abuse
•Alex posts lots of thirst traps, and Henry dies every time
•Alex calls Henry lots of pet names I'm Spanish, and also just in general talks to him a lot in Spanish. Henry has very low understanding of what Alex is saying for the first couple years, but he still melts
•Henry eventually tries to learn Spanish and after a while he can carry a conversation. Oscar often makes fun of his pronunciation though
•Alex is an apple user Henry is an android user. They argue about it often
•Alex's shit got rocked when Hamilton came out. He saw it 10 times
•They continue to have a New Year's party for several years after Ellen leaves office.
•They have a daughter and a son, the son is Henry and June's biologically, and the daughter's Alex and Bea's biologically. Both are referred to as aunt though. Also they used IVF not sex, just to be clear.
•When Alex turns 35, a petition is spread around social media trying to get him to run for president. It gets double the needed signatures, but he doesn't end up running.
•Alex usually tops, but not always. Henry is usually more dominant though.
•I know in cannon Bea gets married to someone (presumably a man) but I hc that she's also gay and meets a girl whose picking her friend up from and na meeting. (Idk, I have a whole story set out for Bea's love life)
•Not really a hc, but Henry has def ridden Alex while wearing a cowboy hat
•Pez always buys the children of the super six super lavish and expensive gifts when ever he visits, and becomes the favorite of the aunts and uncles
•After their first fight once married, Alex has a huge panic attack thinking they won't make it together, but Henry calms him down and it doesn't happen again
•Zhara and Shaan have a daughter who is the scariest little girl in the world. Alex is legitimately scared to get on her bad side.
•David has his own insta account and he has many photos in little outfits
•Henry and Alex write letters to each other every time one of them has to go somewhere for work, just for old times sake
•Henry's first novel absolutely kills all the queer teens, and is basically that universe's RWRB
•Alex often steals Henry's Jaffa cakes and won't ever admit it. Henry knows, and he finds it adorable
•Ever so often Alex will get super into some new topic and do loads of research, and write essays or make presentations on it and then share it with Henry so he can teach him everything he now knows.
•Lowkey canon, but Henry's a Maurauders era fan
•He's also a Tumblr girly and has had a secret blog for years
•The super six do slideshow nights, here's an example of one of those nights: Henry: People from History You Didn't Know Where Queer, Nora: The Statistical Likelihood of Each of Us Releasing a Rap Album, Pez: Rating Everyone's Exes, Bea: The Most Embarrassing Stories About Henry I Can Think of, Alex: Hottest Politicians Around the World, June: The Most Embarrassing Stories About Alex I Can Think of (Her and Bea worked together)
•Occasionally Henry will use an American term (like saying chips when he meant crisps) and Alex will use a British term (like jumper instead of sweater), and both get very upset when it happens (whoever didn't slip up finds it hilarious)
•They joke around whenever a gossip site releases an article about their relationship, like, "oh look, I've apparently left you and headed back to England after you cheated on me" "oh, good for you, that was a rude thing for me to do"

I saw that you are writing about Roderick Heffley.
Can I make a request about Rodrick Heffley/reader (punk grunge girl)?
The reader has been friends with Rodrick for a year, she has her own band and she often hangs out with Rodrick. The reader writes songs for the band and when I realized that I fell in love with Rodrick, I wrote an entire album in his honor.(but since the reader replaced male pronouns with female pronouns in the songs, Rodrik did not understand about falling in love.)
You can make an awkward but sweet confession at the end.(like Roderick only got it when his friend told him directly about it, or when the reader was leaving town...)
I apologize if this is too specific and detailed. And I also ask you to forgive me if something is unclear, English is not my native language.
My Muse (Rodrick Heffley X Songwriter!Reader)
Masterlist
Request Something!
Summary: Inspiration for new songs strike you when you realize you’ve fallen in love with your friend Rodrick Heffley. But when you get the guts to play him a song as a way of confessing and he doesn’t understand, you figure it’s a lost cause.
A/N: reader is more of a pop-punk artist, and she wrote the only exception by paramore bc i said so. Idk much about instruments/terminology and also writing a character singing feels so awkward to me so sorry if it’s bad. Reader’s band is named after the one in metal lords (such a good movie ugh)
***
You and Rodrick had been friends for years, bonding over a shared love of music. As the two of you got older, you ventured into this interest by forming your own bands. Rodrick’s band, Löded Diper, was more rock, while yours, SkullFlower, followed more of a pop-punk genre. But that didn’t stop you and Rodrick from jamming and writing together during your free time.
With all the time you spend with Rodrick, you soon realized that your feelings for him grew beyond platonic, as cliche as it sounded. You obviously didn’t want to say anything and risk ruining what you had with him.
But you couldn’t help but have hope that Rodrick returned your feelings. No matter how many crushes he had, how distracted he became with his band’s latest business venture, or how often he got grounded to the point of not being allowed to leave the house for anything besides school, he always found his way to you. Sure, your heart ached a bit to see him so hung up over a girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day. But it was always made better when he’d sneak through your window just to sit with you when he should’ve been at home.
You didn’t want to bottle up your feelings forever, so you decided to write it all down in the form of lyrics. What started as a verse and half of a chorus soon became a complete song. And then one song turned into a handful. When you showed your bandmates, they immediately wanted to get to work on the instrumentals.
After a few long rehearsals and some convincing from the rest of the band, you decided to let Rodrick hear what you had been working on—half for his opinion and half as a love confession to your best friend.
“So…” As you walked to class with Rodrick, you kept having to tell yourself not to feel so anxious. Just think of it as just another band practice, and not you telling your best friend that you’re in love with him. “SkullFlower’s having a little rehearsal tonight. I think we’ve gotten a new song down pretty good. Did you wanna come?”
“Hell yeah!” Rodrick responded, seeming more pumped up than before you had asked. “What time were you thinking?”
“Probably around five. It’ll be at Steph’s place, since she has the best set up.”
The two of you stopped in front of your class, standing a bit to the side of the door to not block anyone’s path.
“I’ll be there,” Rodrick said with a grin, patting your shoulder and giving it a squeeze. “See you then.” Then he turned around and left to go to his own class, leaving you to walk in alone. As you sat down in your seat, the only thing on your mind was how you hoped everything would go right tonight.
***
It was a pretty common occurrence for you and Rodrick to be at each other’s band rehearsals. So, none of your friends were surprised to see him pull up in his somewhat busted van while you tuned instruments and set up equipment. He jogged up the driveway with a grin and two slushies, one for him and one for you. Another common thing between you two was showing up with some kind of sweet treat just for the two of you.
“Hey guys!” Rodrick greeted everyone in Steph’s garage before handing you a large slushie cup filled with your favorite flavors. “Hey, rockstar.”
“Hi, Roddy.” You said, blushing at the little nickname before sipping your drink. You averted your gaze to somewhere else in the room, so you missed the slight pink on Rodrick’s cheeks from the nickname only you were allowed to use.
After a few minutes of mingling, you and the band got ready to play while Rodrick settled in a lawn chair. He sat directly in front of you, so you felt you had no choice but to look at him while fiddling with the microphone stand.
“This one took, like, a day to write,” you warned, taking a final sip of your slushie before setting it on the floor next to you. “It’s a little softer than the stuff we usually play, but I think it’s pretty good. But I wrote it, so I’m a bit biased.”
“Everything you write is good, Y/n.” Rodrick tipped his slushie cup towards you. “Lemme hear it.”
You nodded and turned to Hailey. She started strumming on her guitar as Steph accompanied her on the keyboard. You swayed along to the music with closed eyes, internally counting down to your cue.
Rodrick had probably heard you sing a million times, you’d probably sung more around him than you did alone. But your nerves made it feel like you were performing in front of a sold-out stadium for the first time, instead of in your friend’s practically empty garage.
“I’d never sing of love if it does not exist.” You plucked up the courage to finally look at Rodrick, who was already watching you with a smile so small you almost couldn’t see it. “But darling, you are the only exception.”
You didn’t know if it was the fear of knowing you were confessing your feelings to Rodrick or the bravery from opening your eyes and looking at him in the first place. But for the rest of the song, you and Rodrick maintained eye contact, making it feel like you were the only ones in the room. You wondered if he knew that the words were written just for him.
As Hailey played the final chord of the song, letting it ring out, you gripped the microphone a bit nervously. At first, you thought the hard part was finally over. But then you remembered that Rodrick’s reaction was to follow.
“So… what’d you think?” Everyone eagerly awaited Rodrick’s response. Your friends knew about how deep your feelings went for him. And although they’d sometimes make fun of you for it, they were truly rooting for the two of you.
“That was awesome!” Rodrick said, throwing his arms out wide to emphasize his statement. You grinned, bouncing slightly on the balls of your feet in excitement. “Whoever you wrote that for is lucky, dude.”
And in an instant, all that excitement and hope diminished.
“Oh.” You let out a small sigh before clearing your throat. “Oh, yeah, they are. They are lucky.” You could practically feel the pitiful stares of your bandmates. That, accompanied by Rodrick’s now slightly perplexed expression, made you feel uneasy. “Um, I’ll be right back.”
You were out in a flash, running into the house and to the bathroom to hide. Your band watched you disappear before looking back at Rodrick, whose eyes were stuck on the door you had gone through.
“Wow.” Dylan was the first to speak, looking at Rodrick with a raised brow and crossed arms. “I know you’re kinda dumb, Heffley, but this might be a new low.”
“Excuse me?” Rodrick quickly rose from his seat, looking at Dylan, offended and confused.
“Oh, come on, Rodrick. Don’t play stupid.” Hailey said as she set down her guitar. “Who do you think Y/n wrote that song about?”
Rodrick thought about the question for a moment, wracking his brain for an answer but coming up with nothing. He shrugged, hoping that one of your friends would just tell him outright what was going on.
“I’ll give you a hint,” Dylan said. “She only invited one person to this band practice, and she only wanted to play that specific song.”
The look on Rodrick’s face was starting to make your friends wonder if you were better off without him knowing about your feelings. But suddenly, he gasped in realization, looking at each of your friends for confirmation of what he was thinking. When they all nodded, relieved that he was finally starting to understand, he grabbed your slushie from the floor, muttering something about being back in a minute.
In the bathroom, you were trying not to have a total freak out. You wondered how you could play this off. Although Rodrick wasn’t the brightest, he could be observant and stubborn when he wanted to be. He’d probably ask what was wrong, and if you could convince him that everything was fine, he would probably start asking who you wrote that love song about.
After splashing some water on your face to calm yourself down, you opened the door, only to see Rodrick standing on the other side.
“Jesus!” You jumped in surprise.
“Sorry.” Rodrick laughed nervously. “You, um, you forgot your slushie.”
“Oh, thanks.”
You fell into an awkward silence, standing in the threshold of your friend’s bathroom and slurping down your drink so you wouldn’t have to speak. Eventually, both of you were out of slushies.
“Was that song about me?” Rodrick blurted out, tilting his head in curiosity. You blinked, not expecting that to be the question he would ask. It seemed like he already knew it was.
“That depends,” you said, toying with your straw as you looked down at the ground to avoid eye contact. “Would you still like it if it was?”
Your attention was pulled from your shoes by a hand lifting your head, forcing you to look up at Rodrick. He leaned in to kiss you, just for a quick second, as if he was scared of you freaking out. But you were left in a daze as he pulled back.
“I’d like it a lot more if it was.”
Overwhelmed by what had just happened, you flung your arms around Rodrick and kissed him again. He stumbled back a step but caught you by the waist, kissing back eagerly. The world around you seemed to disappear.
“Ahem.” Slowly and reluctantly, you and Rodrick pulled away from each other to see Steph looking at you amused, Hailey and Dylan standing behind her. “Mom made us all a snack, unless you guys are too busy sucking face.”
“Oh, shut up, Steph.” You said with an embarrassed laugh. Your friends headed to the kitchen, but you and Rodrick slowly trailed behind to sneak a few more kisses to each other.

hcs of poly relationship with abby and ellie please ilysm 🙌🙌
abby anderson x reader x ellie williams headcanons
suggestive content below the cut
╭ thank you anon for the idea, i hope you enjoy !
╰╮the absolute best dance partners, on adult night at the bar they’ll have you in daze from how much they want to be seen with you. twirling you into the others arms until your legs are sore and the entire bar as their eyes on the three of you.
╰╮abby hates cooking but ellie loves it. So most days ellie will take on the responsibility of cooking and abby will happily oblige to every desire she has as long as it’s not having anything to do with the stove. On that topic, neither of them can bake- but you can. So most days in the kitchen are filled with ellie instructing abby on what she needs and the three of you bumping into each other as you tackle different tasks. Hoping from dinner, to dishes, to baking- but you all somehow make it work (with tons of kisses in between traffic jams)
╰╮clothes troubles? always. between massive loads of laundry to abby’s shirts getting snatched by you and ellie alike- there is always a fuss about clothes. Whilst abby doesn’t mind her girls stealing her shirts, it becomes a tad problematic when the only shirts left in the closet are ones that would look like compression T’s on her. Secretly, though she gives the two of you shit, she loves it.
╰╮ellie loves taking photos. It’s something she’s very adamant about, every birthday or anniversary, she has the polaroid camera out snapping multiple pictures to frame or stick into an album. You’d become very fond of it after she’d gone through her collection- showing off every sweet photo she had of the three of you. Including more than a couple of joel and jerry hanging out. (they weren’t aware of their picture being taken, but that made it all the better.)
╰╮you’d never patrol alone again; constantly having the two women at your side to face weather was beyond the wall- not trusting anyone else with the job of protecting you. You could argue and even attempt to sneak out alone, but they somehow always knew and swooped in at the last minute to accompany you.
╰╮joel and jerry become the father figures you never got to have, taking great pride in the fact that their daughters could manage to snag a prize like you (jerry’s words, quote me on it.) they loved you unconditionally and though the idea at first was a little weird to them, once they saw how much love the three of you carried for one another- they knew it was something meant to be.
╰╮so many records. ellie prefers jazz and bluegrass (getting most of her preferences from joel), while abby is a complete opposite listening to 90’s rock and college rock (which had grown to be one of her favorite genres). anytime you all went on a run, you’d pick up all the music you could to bring home and listen to together. It had become a ritual.
╰╮an affinity for children to randomly be running around your shared house. Some days it was yara and lev sitting on the couch chatting about who knows what, others it was half a dozen tiny children running from ellie and dina as they chased them through the house and out into the garden where they’d indulge them with the patch of strawberries that had just started to ripen. It never bothered you, not one bit.
╰╮abby is the big spoon, ellie is the little spoon, and you are the littlest spoon. like a little conga train, you three melted together like this most nights. other times, it was just a massive pile of limbs and sheets tangled into something joel had a-likened to the rat king. He thought he was very funny for that, giving abby a playful nudge as he recalled her horror story.
╰╮kissies galore ! ! neither abby or ellie knew how to not kiss you (or each other) so at the worst moments they’ll press a quick kiss to your lips before moving along to whatever it was they were doing. It always warmed your heart but caught whoever you were with off guard (especially if they didn’t know your situation).
╰╮long, long, long sessions. sex was an all night affair to the three of you, that way you all had a chance to give each other the love you’d set aside for them. luckily for you, abby and ellie learned how to share when it came to you so it was no longer a fight for dominance but a shared experience. give and take. It took them awhile to figure out a way to combine forces but once they did it was game over for you (and your poor legs the next day.)
╰╮constant talk of starting a family. abby and ellie loved the idea of having little mini versions of themselves running around, not to mention how willing you were to carry babies for them if they weren’t comfortable with it. when the baby fever got too bad, the three of you would take a trip to the school to volunteer your time- helping the girls become more comfortable with children before you all made the jump to actually having your own.

Full article from Metal Hammer 12/2022 that I posted an excerpt from in the previous post. BTW, Impera landed #1 on Metal Hammer’s list of best albums of 2022!
--
Tumblr media
It was January 2022, and we found ourselves sitting in the empty lobby of a snug Seattle hotel, overlooking the sunset over Puget Sound while soft rock wafted through the PA system. Across from us was Ghost frontman and mastermind Tobias Forge, and we spent nearly two hours talking about music, family, dogs and the steady ascension of Ghost from spooky Swedish underground band to arena filling titans. But mostly we were there to talk about Impera – their fifth album, then still two months away from release.
In the run-up to an album coming out – particularly one with a highly acclaimed predecessor, like 2018’s Prequelle – artists tend to convey palpable anxiety as they prepare to relinquish control of their work to the world. Not so with Tobias, who radiated ease and comfort. Impera had not yet seen the light of day, but he had already moved on. Looking back at that period today, he explains, “As soon as I am done making a record, I’m pretty much fed up with it. I don’t want to hear it, I don’t want to know about it, I just want to forget about it. Once it hits the ears of people, depending on how it’s being received, that’s where you start from scratch again.”
Following Ghost’s North American tour with Volbeat and Twin Temple, Impera was released on March 11. It seamlessly blended pop-savvy songwriting with elaborate arrangements and steady torrents of anthemic pop metal riffage that created a wormhole back to the lighter-raising, arena-rock majesty of the 80s. From the glass-shattering scream that opened Kaisarion to the synth-rock squall of Watcher In The Sky, it delivered one guitar-powered banger after another.
It was enough to land Ghost their first No.1 position on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart – their fourth Top 10 overall. Even bigger, in terms of vinyl and CD sales, Impera scored 2022’s biggest first-week sales for any album, of any genre. With more than 62,000 copies sold in the US alone, it easily bested The Weeknd’s February CD release of Dawn FM. In fact, Impera claimed the biggest first sales week for hard rock vinyl since Pearl Jam’s Vitalogy in 1994.
Critics united in swift and lusty praise. It might have felt heretical at the time, but many early reviews rated Impera as besting Prequelle on all fronts. Our very own Dave Everley wrote: ‘Impera wins on bolshiness, bravado and skyscraping songs alone. Ghost have turned in a modern metal classic with an arena rock heart. It turns out the Devil doesn’t have all the best tunes. Tobias Forge does.’ It’s safe to say any plans of “starting from scratch” were shoved to the back burner.
Ghost’s official Imperatour headlining run took them back across North America and then to Europe. Despite the lingering ravages of Covid across the live music industry, they thrived. “I am very happy that we managed to orchestrate a somewhat functioning but very successful album launch”, says Tobias. “We managed to nail 70 shows with just one cancellation. I think in this day and age in this year, that’s fucking great!”
Across the globe, stages were filling up with shows that had been booked many years prior. “We had to cut and paste a little with our touring schedule, because this past summer was basically filled with 2020’s line-ups,” says Tobias. “That made our scheduling a little… I wouldn’t say sparse, but we had breaks that were longer than normal. There are so many bands that are doing these weird dances. The last year of releasing an album into the void, with no touring and cancelling here and there and everywhere, and people having to rethink their lives, basically… We’ve been blessed not to have done too much of that.”
Logistics aside, somewhere along the line, that cultish little band from Sweden – the one with the creepy frontman singing about Satan and plagues and empires – went mainstream. Propelled by Impera’s momentum, the band tapped into new levels of cultural saturation thanks to appearances on mainstays such as Jimmy Kimmel Live.
“TV always brings you in front of new people”, says Tobias. “We did [The Late Show With Stephen] Colbert a few years ago, and every time you do something like that, you obviously expose yourself to a new scene of viewers. And that’s always great, unless you completely shit the bed on the air. Ha ha ha! I think we did do a few things this year that brought in a whole slew of new people into our fanbase.”
But ever the realist, he adds, “You might have a spike of people checking you out… but you don’t really notice if things like that had any effect. It’s not like the day after, all of your shows are now sold out and there’s a double night booked into every show you’re doing. It’s such a slow process that you don’t notice until a half year later when new fans come in and say, ‘I saw you on Kimmel’ or ‘I saw you with my dad.’ I wouldn’t say that being on Kimmel changed everything. It’s been slow, step-by-step, but it builds new branches onto the same tree and you keep growing higher.”
And higher they grew. In July, Mary On A Cross – originally released on the 2019 EP, Seven Inches Of Satanic Panic – was used in a Tiktok tribute to the show Stranger Things. The ripple effect was staggering. The song landed in the Top 10 of Spotify’s Viral 50 Global chart. As of this issue, the hashtag #Maryonacross has notched up well over one billion views. Ghost eventually released an official, slowed-down version of the song and the two versions combined now claim more than 180 million Spotify streams and counting. “For us, the Tiktok thing was or is just a giant bonus”, he explains. “That was never something that we planned.”
Surely the unplanned waves of publicity will ferry over legions of new fans, for whom an embarrassment of riches awaits. “One thing that I felt proud over, was the fact that we’ve been around for 12 years,” says Tobias. “We’ve made five records, a bunch of EPS, and I am glad that there seems to be a song that has a way to suck people in. And if they go into our world and like it, there is plenty to find. If you like Mary On A Cross, you can just jump on the train and go where we already are heading.”
It’s been an uncommonly good year for heavy music, but for Ghost it’s been more than a success – it’s been a coronation. Despite their demoniacal appearance and transgressive lyrical themes, they have negotiated the near-impossible task of attracting mainstream audiences while holding fast to the diehards in metal who have been there from the start. It creates the enviable problem of facing a new year with new pressures and heightened expectations. But Tobias has a plan.
“We’re doing a lot of touring again”, he explains. “On previous album cycles we’ve done four legs in America and two or three in Europe and repeated. We’re going to go into every territory next year, but there’s going to be one European tour, one American tour. We are going to do a little bit of everywhere. There’ll be a little bit of something up in upper Asia, on the far end there – a very well-established country with a lot of pop cultural fascination, and the home of videogames. And there’s going to be something in the Oceania world, and there might be something south of Panama, and there might be something slightly north of Panama. It feels pretty solid.”
He cryptically adds, “We’re going to come out with a little bit of change before that – good change. We’re not going to go silent. Some things are public, other things not in public view, but there are a lot of things brewing.”
We are journalistically bound to inquire about the next album and, unsurprisingly, Tobias remains mum. In January, he told us, “Everything I’m doing now is for the next record. I have a vague idea what that will be like and a vague idea of the title and the colour scheme.”
For now, that will have to do, but rest assured that as we all continue to enjoy the masterpiece that is Impera, Tobias is already hard at work, figuring out dramatic new ways to blow our minds. But he still allows himself the odd moment to stop and take it all in.
“To be able to make all of the shows that we’ve done, and to have a record that did fairly well, I think the sum of it is pretty fucking awesome,” he smiles. “I’m very thankful. It was a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck.”

my official ranking of (basically) every song by hozier
(ignoring some collabs/songs from soundtracks etc)
(this is just my opinion no one shout at me)
(he has no Bad songs, only Less Brilliant ones)
52) To Noise Making (Sing) (the sing chorus at the end goes on just *that* bit too long
51) Sunlight (slightly repetitive)
50) Nobody (maybe this is controversial? does however contain one of my favourite lyrics “it’s suicide Tuesday back in LA”)
49) Sedated (the lowest ranked song of his self titled album and it’s not because it’s not good it’s because his discography is fucking insane)
48) Someone New (only ranked this low because it was very overplayed in Ireland when it came out)
47) Almost (Sweet Music) (this was never my favourite song but who can resist “i laugh like me again she laughs like you”)
46) Son of Nyx (hozier made the best study music song of all time)
45) Wasteland, Baby! (sounds exactly like the album feels, if that makes sense?)
44) Swan Upon Leda (would be higher but i keep accidentally forgetting to add it to my playlist because it’s not on an album. also Free Palestine)
43) Better Love (hozier’s voice is so beautiful)
42) Dinner & Diatribes (ever since someone said he sounds like Count von Count in this song i can’t un-hear it)
41) It Will Come Back (so sexy. one of the sexiest songs in his oeuvre)
40) NFWMB (an under appreciated classic. i remember playing this in the car when my dad was dropping our friend’s kid to school and getting in trouble for the cursing)
39) The Parting Glass - Live from The Late Late Show (not only a beautiful rendition, but it was also performed during covid when everyone was feeling very hopeless and he just captivated ireland for a few short moments. gorgeous)
38) Anything But (we are reaching the territory of songs that are so goddamned good that it feels a crime they are so low down. he has dozens of such songs)
37) In the Woods Somewhere (eerie vibes which are beautiful and exacerbated when you find out he based this on a dream he had)
36) To Be Alone (again, CRIMINAL that this is so low down. blame hozier having so many good songs. don’t blame me)
35) Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene (a bop AND a banger AND a jam. triple threat)
34) Damage Gets Done (their voices are soooo beautiful together)
33) Be (“When Atlas acts the maggot” is one of Hozier’s best Irish culture lines)
32) The Jackboot Jump - Live (BUT THE JACKBOOT ONLY JUMPS DOWN ON PEOPLE STANDING UP!!!)
31) Shrike (this song made me cry when i first heard it and i am Not one to cry)
30) To Someone From a Warm Climate (Uiscefhuaraithe) (GAEILGE MENTION!!!!)
29) Jackie and Wilson (one of my first ever favourite hozier songs)
28) Talk (i love the myth of orpheus and eurydice and i ALSO imagine being loved by hozier)
27) Moment’s Silence (Common Tongue) (blowjobs)
26) Eat Your Young (hozier wrote this for all first year trinity students who had to read Swift for their intro to irish writing lectures)
25) All Things End (don’t be sad. we begin again :). hozier said so)
24) I, Carrion (Icarian) (soft, sad, beautiful. like hozier)
23) Nina Cried Power (feat. Mavis Staples) (also very overplayed in Ireland but this time it really deserved it!!)
22) Cherry Wine - Live (one of the most beautiful and recognisable guitar bits of all time. yes i said guitar bits i don’t know anything about guitars)
21) As It Was (the drug the dark the light the flame…)
20) First Time (“anyway”)
19) Who We Are (makes me feel like my chest is being lifted to god)
18) No Plan (“As Mack explained, there will be darkness again” is one of the all-time great Hozier lyrics actually)
17) Would That I (it’s illegal for anyone to dislike this song)
16) De Selby (Part 2) (he wants to run against the world that’s turning!! he moves so fast that he’d outpace the dawn!!)
15) De Selby (Part 1) (AN ENTIRE VERSE AS GAEILGE)
14) Like Real People Do (once again, how is this so low? hozier is too good. “we should just kiss like real people do” lyrics of all time)
13) Butchered Tongue (i wrote an entire essay post about this song. with citations)
12) From Eden (time has maybe made us forget just how fucking insanely good this song is. IDEALISM SITS IN PRISON CHIVALRY FELL ON HIS SWORD INNOCENCE DIED SCREAMING. also reminds me of verse 2 of Human by The Killers)
11) Work Song (WHEN MY TIME COMES AROUND LAY ME GENTLY IN THE COLD DARK EARTH. NO GRAVE CAN HOLD MY BODY DOWN. I’LL CRAWL HOME TO HER. also special mention for: “in the low lamp light i was free” aka the name of one of my criminal minds fanfics. moving on)
10) Run (SOOOOO underrated. literally rare is this love keep it covered! run to me run to me lover! run until you feel your lungs bleeding!)
9) Movement (i played this song every day on repeat for 2 months when i was 17)
8) Arsonist’s Lullabye (wario of better love. don’t ask me how or why)
7) In a Week (feat. Karen Cowley) (the most gorgeous beautiful song of all time their voices are perfect for each other - I’D BE HOME WITH YOU)
6) First Light (BUT AFTER THIS IM NEVER GONNA BE THE SAME!!! AND I AM NEVER GOING BACK AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!)
5) Francesca (AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. URGAAAHHHHHHHH. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I’D TELL THEM PUT ME BACK IN IT!!!!!! DARLING I WOULD DO IT AGAIN!!!!!! IF I COULD HOLD YOU FOR A MINUTE!!!!! DARLING I’D GO THROUGH IT AGAIN!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH)
4) Unknown / Nth (DO YOU KNOWWWWW I COULD BREAK BENEATH THE WEIGHT OF THE GOODNESS LOVE I STILL CARRY FOR YOU!!!! he had no right to sing this. and as beautifully as he does. makes me cry. sha-la-la)
3) Abstract (Psychopomp) (this wasn’t originally my favourite when i first listened to Unreal Unearth has grown on my heart and will not let go. did you know the memory hurts but does me no harm. and did you SEE HOW IT SHINESSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
2) Take Me To Church (this being his debut single. DEBUT. SINGLE. no one else was doing it like him. the vocals the lyrics god the beautiful lyrics the MUSIC VIDEO!!!! ireland’s best living artist.)
1) Foreigner’s God (my favourite song of all time. no notes. utterly perfect in every way.)

Tomorrow X Together And Jonas Brothers Announce Joint Single ‘Do It Like That’
Tumblr media
Tomorrow X Together has some very exciting news for their fans. The South Korean vocal troupe has announced their comeback single, and this time they aren’t doing so alone.
The beloved K-pop outfit is teaming up with none other than the Jonas Brothers in a major first. The two all-male groups are joining forces to release the joint track titled "Do It Like That." Fans can mark their calendars for Friday, July 7, as the eagerly anticipated tune is set to arrive.
Behind the scenes, the mastermind behind "Do It Like That" is none other than Ryan Tedder, the talented OneRepublic frontman and renowned songwriter and producer. Tedder's impressive resume includes working with music industry heavyweights such as Adele, Beyoncé, and Maroon 5, among many others. Now, he has set his sights on collaborating with two of the most famous bands in the world—Tomorrow X Together and the Jonas Brothers.
As of now, it remains uncertain whether "Do It Like That" will be released as a standalone single or if it will be featured on a larger project. It’s possible that it might be included on a deluxe edition of the Jonas Brothers' latest full-length The Album, which hit the shelves in May and peaked at an impressive No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Meanwhile, Tomorrow X Together is experiencing their most successful year in America. Their 2023 EP The Name Chapter: Temptation soared to the top of the Billboard 200, securing the band's first No. 1 position on the prestigious chart. This achievement also places them among the select few South Korean musical acts to reach such heights. Although they could potentially re-release their EP with additional tracks, the band may choose to forge ahead with new projects instead.
Tomorrow X Together has a jam-packed summer ahead of them. In addition to releasing "Do It Like That," they are also set to drop a Japanese album titled Sweet just days before the highly anticipated joint single arrives.

svt: how they try to take care of u ?
(sorry I'm on my period and therefore, sad. i'll just take anything i can get) i'll come back if i think of more
seventeen taking care of you / making you feel better
TW: chronic pain, anxiety/OCD, parental loss
♡you never buy anything for yourself that can’t be eaten or used as a basic necessity, so he started buying everything else. your one sweater is adorable but a few more will be nice when the temperature drops. a pair of jeans so old the tag’s faded is fine, but he knows how much you love the wide-legged cut, and they’re thrifted so even better. your favorite artist is going on tour, and you never once entertained the thought of going. then two tickets are set on the kitchen table instead of jam for your toast. “i bought two because i was hoping we could go together, but you can take someone else if you want. i know seungkwan’s the girl group lover, but i’m… yours so… could be a fun date night.” you let him take you shopping for an outfit. maybe you even ask to go, and he lights up at the question because yes baby, it’s ok to treat yourself
♡anxiety keeps you inside sometimes. the intrusive thoughts grow loud and wield weapons, so you stay beneath your sheets and hope someone else’s voice will be louder than the ones in your head. for so long, it was only ever yours fighting the battle, with no one else to rely on. now, it’s his too. and he knows when it’s needed. not just his voice but his body. his hands. his warmth. his gentle coaxing. his ability to exist in this space with you when the shame is so thick you’ve forgotten your name. he reminds you. sometimes a touch is all you need. sometimes more, and that’s ok
♡he knows how important your environment is to you, so he makes sure the space feels alive and vibrant and warm. fresh bouquets. linen scented candles. curtains open.
♡he walks with you while it rains. he bought matching boots. they’re red and obnoxious, but your whole demeanor changes at the thought of wearing them alone. and, he always finds out a secret. he wonders how many you have, and why it takes the sky pouring for you to open up too
♡you started looking through old photo albums together, and he didn’t miss the beamed excitement as you shared stories behind captured moments. he revisited the ones connected to meals and decided to start cooking them for you. the very first night it happens, he’s home first, and the nostalgic aroma recreates a happy slice of life you had never dreamed of stepping back into
♡you lay on the living room carpet. you lay on the cement. you lay in the grass. sometimes, all you need is the feeling of sturdiness beneath you. he never asks why, but he’ll lay beside you. he doesn’t say anything. he doesn’t touch you first. he just joins you. you take his hand every time, lay it on your chest, and kiss his fingertips
♡whenever you leave to go out with friends or even around the corner to the stationary store you love, he reminds you you can call him if something comes up… if you need him… he’ll be there
♡lays on top of you. braids your hair to keep it off your face. applies chapstick and then kisses you so he can have some too. grabs an extra spoon when he’s making a bowl of cereal. asks you to shower with him when you’ve been in bed all day. dries your hair. dresses you in his clothes because sweater paws always make you laugh
♡it’s not easy to hide parts of yourself from him, including your chronic pain. he acquired so much knowledge in a short period of time that you asked where he came from. all he did was smile and adjust your heating pad. but it’s not just that. there are so many details… if one thing doesn’t work, he knows what to try next. he keeps track of the hours passed since you last took medicine. he carries you to the bathroom at 4am as you apologize for waking him
♡he drives you to the house you grew up in. the picket fence is still the same despite some chipped paint. you painted one panel yellow, and it’s stayed all these years. there are still plant holders beneath the kitchen window. your older sister put them up while you plucked dandelions. the flowers trail and sway subtlety in the breeze. tears rush your eyes at the memory of roasting marshmallows on the front lawn. if you close them, you can imagine your mother’s voice. it’s been too long without hearing it beside your ear, over your shoulder, from a room away. the thought alone raises goosebumps, so you reach for the man beside you to break apart the heavy emotions. he had a hard time bringing you back for a while, but something shifts during the drive home. you exhale. you’ve released. the missing doesn’t feel so suffocating
♡you’ve yet to realize the way he always asks for your help when you’re feeling especially existential. maybe all he wants is someone to cross items off the grocery list. maybe it’s unloading the dishwasher or running down to the mail room with him. it doesn’t matter the task, the sudden change is all you need. it’s so subtle, but the heaviness lightens
♡before you go anywhere to eat, he makes sure the menu has options that work for you. you used to feel so badly about your food sensitivities and allergies, but he’s made you feel the furthest thing from burdensome
♡he tells you about his childhood when you can’t sleep or don’t want to because he’ll be leaving soon, and these late nights and early mornings in your living room create the sweetest memories. he feels so real. his chest vibrates against your shoulder every time he laughs. he twirls your hair when he shares painful experiences, so he can focus on you instead of his words. he kisses you and hums afterward, smiling with eyes still closed. says he wants to marry you as the sun comes up. tells you about this picture his dad took when his parents were newlyweds, standing in their first home. his mom wore a long dress with a turtleneck and her hair down. his dad keeps it in his wallet. he wants that with you. it’s silly, he whispers, but i’ve always wanted to love the idea of keeping leather in my back pocket because there’s a piece of love inside. my whole love in a 3 x 2
♡he tells you to slow down, and the words mixed with love make them feel brand new. you rest your head against his chest. you let your breathing match his heartbeat. this close, it’s so loud. your eyelids fall, and he holds you until the tension leaves your shoulders and a thank you spills from parted lips
♡he wasn’t supposed to come over today, but he brought groceries, and you sat in the hallway, against the wall, while he unpacked the cloth bags. “you know where everything goes.” “it would be weird if i didn’t, right?” he smiles and closes your fridge, brushing his toes against the sole of your foot. “your knowing makes me feel balanced, and it’s sort of funny to admit because it’s just groceries.” “but it’s not just groceries.” he sinks to the floor, guiding you to fill the space between his legs. his lips meet your forehead. he smiles against your skin, and you hum at the feeling. “it’s that… all the love. there’s love all over you unpacking my groceries, all over you knowing what i need without texting first.” “when it comes to you, the love is everywhere, on everything, in every act i do.”

BSD Music Hcs - Armed Detective Agency 🫶
(Made using American music as a basis because I'm not familiar with the Japanese music scene. More based around general tastes rather than specific genres and songs)
Atsushi, Dazai, Kunikida, Kenji, Kyouka, Ranpo, Yosano, and Fukuzawa below
Atsushi
• He's obviously not going to have the most... well rounded taste in music due to his strict upbringing
• in fact, many people would likely make fun of him for having "basic" taste in music
• while I don't think he'd have gone his whole childhood without hearing anything, I think it'd be heavily restricted to radio hits and maybe classical music.
• So, Atsushi would likely have a lot of more popular, recent songs in his playlists.
• I think he'd be very open to new music, though. The songs on his playlist he hasn't heard listening to the radio are ones recommended by the agency members!
• He's always glad to listen to something that his friend likes, and he generally enjoys it too.
• However, I think he'd lean towards hip-hop (maybe rap. depends on his mood) in terms of favorites. I think he'd like the Weeknd but I don't know why
• I think he'd also enjoy indie music. since he didn't grow up hearing music as much as other people, he's more open to new sounds and experimental genres
• I don't think he'd like radiohead, though.
• He won't pay for spotify premium.
Dazai
• Probably pirates his music.
• Dazai is very hard for me to understand, so please excuse how short this may be.
• nobody really knows what he listens to, he'll tell different people he enjoys different artists.
• i think if he was alone, he'd listen to slower music.
• it doesn't necessarily have to be sad, but he'll be fine if it is.
• He listens to music with softer singing/lyrics to sort of slow down and process his day. It calms him and helps him focus on what's happened. Think Cigarettes after sex type beat.
• At work though? He listens to very upbeat music• His personal favorite is "Pump up The Jam" by Technotronic. It gets on kunikida's nerves. Dazai will sing it, hum it, blast it on the agency computer.
• Leave him alone!!! he's pumping up the jam!!
• He also takes recommendations from the agency, but they're never listened to or acknowledged publicly
• He's heard every song Atsushi recommends him, but indulges atsushi anyways
• Dazai would listen to their recs in secret though. and hold each one very dear to him.
Kunikida
• The one who's supposed to be in charge of the agency's background music.
• While he'd play clean music for the agency, I think his music taste would consist of very vulgar language
• Not intentionally, of course. The songs that fit his ideals for music will have their strange aspects and that's okay
• Any songs with themes against his ideals (Glorifying murder, probably whatever the fuck is going on in Mr. Brightside) he prefers not to listen to.
• I think he'd like romantic songs, but he'd keep to himself about it. He seems like a romantic at heart
• He also enjoys upbeat music to get himself into a working mood (if he isn't already)
• I think he'd enjoy the Red hot chili peppers. this came to me while writing and I'll die by it now
• When people recommend him music, he doesn't listen to it immediately, but once he gets free time he'll focus solely on the song he's listening to
• He'll tell a person their music is good no matter what, but if it's not to his taste he'll express that very politely
• Unless it's Dazai. Dazai will be cursed out very harshly if he plays "Pump up the jam" again
• doesn't pay for premium music services, but complains about ads regardless
• he has a playlist for every. single. mood. his music is meticulously organized
Kenji
• If anyone told you "they love all types of music," they didn't love as many as Kenji. He'll listen to anything
• i think his favorite music, though, is local music.
• He'll save any song made by someone from his hometown, no matter what it is.
• Local garage punk band? He'll buy the album. Recording from a town festival? He'll find an upload of it and save it.
• Super, super open about what he listens to. you can ask him about one song and be bombarded with favorites of his
• While he has very diverse taste, I think he leans slightly towards more upbeat country music.
• He grew up with early Taylor swift (please forgive me this is the only country artist I know and she's not even country) and the likes
• He has a habit of humming a different song while working every day.
• i think he'd have a playlist for everything, but he always forgets to add his new songs to them.
• He has a playlist for sleeping, mostly calm music with rain sounds. It's not something he necessarily needs but it's a small comfort
• You can't just "recommend a song" to Kenji. If someone tells him about a song they think he'd like, he'd pull out his ear buds right then and there and offer them one to listen together
• Very cheerful about recs, always enjoys them no matter what they are.
• doesn't pay for premium music, and doesn't mind ads at all
Kyouka
• I think, like atsushi, she doesn't really have the most diverse music taste but she's also a teenage girl so.
• I think the mafia influenced her taste a bit, but she's largely built her own playlist through trying new things.
• She likes popular music that's currently trending, but leans more towards softer/cuter music.
• I feel like she enjoys vocaloid, but isn't obsessed with it.
• the same goes for K-pop, Kyouka wouldn't religiously listen to it but she would have a few favorite idols that she follows
• She gets very (invisibly) excited to show atsushi new songs she found, and sharing song discoveries is a favorite pasttime of theirs.
• Kyouka is 13. She's going through a phase where she needs angsty music in her life.
• I think one of her favorites would be "Sleep to Dream" by Fiona Apple. this is just the vibe
• She actually is allowed the aux at the agency! She's much too insecure about her music taste to put any songs on, though.
• Kyouka regularly asks her fellow agency members for recs, but never really gets back to them about the songs.
• It's best to assume she wouldn't ask them for more recommendations if she didn't enjoy the previous ones, though.
Ranpo
• Always understands the theme behind a song but doesn't really care. Ranpo really just likes funky beats.
• I think he'd listen to a lot of electronic music, or things that are electronic-adjacent, or things that I mistake for electronic music. Things like Major Tom by Peter Schilling
• He also listens to a lot of older and more familiar classic rock songs. This is Fukuzawa's doing.
• He doesn't really care to check the artist of a song, so his playlists are very erratic. He's got a bunch of the same songs by a couple artists, then the rest is Russian roulette.
• Only one playlist. Of everything he likes.
• He shares an account with Fukuzawa and Yosano.
• He could probably read a person's entire personality through their music, but he wouldn't
• In fact, if you want Ranpo to listen to something, you'll have to beg him and remind him constantly to listen to your song
• It's not that he doesn't care, necessarily, it's that he just doesn't consider trying new music very often
• Ranpo is someone who would be very comfortable with their taste and not seek much change from what's familiar.
• I don't think he'd enjoy higher pitched voices that cut over the music.
• That being said, Ranpo also has very strong authority over the agency's background music. He doesn't add much, though
• He completely supports the Pump up the jam agenda. He'll even sing it with Dazai, occasionally
Yosano
• I think she'd listen to primarily female artists, and keep up with what her favorite artists are doing
• One of her favorite songs has been Poker Face by Lady Gaga ever since she was young.
• I think she'd be very into having soundtracks from her favorite movies! She knows a lot of artists and songs through this
• outside of movie soundtracks, she'll listen to a lot of pop, but not present day pop
• I think Yosano would enjoy popular songs of an era well past their time
• this isn't because she's out of touch with trends, she'd just enjoy songs from around the 2010s more.
• Yosano also knows plenty of classic rock, but doesn't listen to it all that often. This is Fukuzawa's doing.
• However, she keeps up with Riot grrrl music almost religiously. It's one of her favorite genres.
• She has a separate playlist to play as background music in her office.
• Kunikida has no reign over this section of the agency.
• The doctor's office is a lawless land.
• He doesn't mind though, because she doesn't play it all that loud while she's working. In fact, if she doesn't have patients, she'll often just use her ear buds from the computer
• Yosano takes music recommendations, sparingly. If someone gives her consistently bad songs, she'll start lying to them about listening.
• however, she's always up to chat about lyric interpretations and news on artists for songs she does enjoy.
Fukuzawa
• He may be an "old man" to most people, but he's actually only 40-something. I can never put my finger on what year bsd takes place in, but regardless I think he'd enjoy 80's and 90's hits.
• He's not been to many concerts, especially in recent years, but when he was younger and not yet "involved in his career" I think he'd visit plenty of live performances.
• Everyone who works at the agency has heard Bohemian Rhapsody several times.
• He doesn't generally listen to new music because he's comfortable with his current tastes
• however, his "current tastes" consist of so, so many songs• if you asked him what he thought of any artist, he'd probably tell you he'd heard of them.
• While he's a very private man, I think he was also very excited to introduce Ranpo and Yosano to his music
• He didn't look excited to show them his songs, but inside he was genuinely glad to share the music he's loved so dearly for very long• I think all three of them have danced together, at least once. I know it's not in character but please indulge me
• Fukuzawa pays for spotify premium, but shares an account with Ranpo and yosano.
• The profile picture for this account is a cat.
• it took him a bit to get used to the digital music services, so he kept all his cd's. He's got a lot of them, and has even burned a few himself
• I think he'd burn cd's for the agency members as a Christmas gift. most of them don't own a cd player, but they appreciate it!
• He enjoys getting recommendations from other people, and will always give them honest feedback.
• he's a bit confused by more recent songs, but he enjoys the trends and innovations made in the music industry

Shakey Sundays #1:
Neil Young's Neil Young
Tumblr media
My buddy Greg asked me last weekend, very earnestly, why Neil Young? Why is he your favorite artist? Why?
Greg likes Neil. But he doesn't own 38 different Neil records which are what he'd grab, along with his kids and, I guess, the cat, if the house was on fire; nor has he temporarily and blissfully lost all sense of hearing after seeing Neil in concert eight glorious times, once driving 7 hours each way on a work night to do so; nor did he sing each of his safe-from-the-fire kids to psychedelic sleep every night of their childhoods with a steady diet of Powderfinger (my son always insisted the first line was "look out Momma, there's a white bird coming up the river"; if I sang boat instead of bird he'd sit up in bed, his doll Carson cradled in his arms, and howl in indignation), Lost in Space and Little Wing.
(By the way, that fire scenario really happened: long ago, when the kids were still little and there was no room whatsoever left in our tiny home, all my records were stored in a family cabin in the woods; one time I watched the backside of the ridge behind that cabin going up in flames and then rushed home to get everyone, and all of my Neil, into the car so we could get the hell out of there. Everyone/thing made it out just fine.)
In other words, Greg's not me. Plus, he grew up a Pearl Jam guy so we were listening to Mirror Ball as a common ground of sorts when the question, Why Neil Young?, was asked. At that point Neil was hollering about the place called downtown, where the hippies all go, so my first, slightly inebriated, explanation - "dude, I don't know, he's just the best" - didn't really fly. After all, the hippies were dancing the Charleston; they were doing the limbo.
Greg's question is a good one. What attribute can you insert after the statement "Neil Young is the best _____" that adequately describes his odd and supreme genius?
"Poet" doesn't work. Sure, Neil can write about roads stretching out like healthy veins and wild gift horses that strain the reins, but he can also dedicate a ten minute song entirely to describing one person's surplus of mashed potatoes.
Nor can you get away with "he's the best songwriter" when he's released at least 6 different versions of the song Dance, Dance, Dance and much of his oeuvre from the past 10 years spews hot, Promise of the Real sized chunks.
Even Neil's newest robot will probably concur: there isn't any single thing that Young is the stand-alone-best at. (Well, maybe he is the best at screaming into his guitar's pickups...)
And yet, for me, the truth has never been in doubt since I first heard Side 2 of On the Beach over thirty years ago: Neil Young is, and always will be, my favorite musician.
So I think it's about time this blog started wrestling with Neil "Shakey" Young himself. That's why I'm kicking off this weekend with the first of many Shakey Sundays: I'm gonna write about every one of Neil's studio albums, in order.
Those of you who only show up to see if I have more to say about John Darnielle's cooking skills: relax. I'll continue to post Dollar Bin posts on other artists alongside this new project. I promise. But be warned, Young currently has 45 studio albums to his name and I have a ton to say about all of them. So this will take awhile.
I'm not making any promises of the real here: I'll surely take some Sundays off, these posts will often appear, like this one, in truly Shakey fashion, on the wrong day of the week, and I may keel over or get a life before I ever write about Storytone or Fork in the Road. But it's time to give this Neil Young thing a shot, a shot that will ring all around the border, like a venom in the sky. Will we make it? Hey, who knows where or when. But let the Dollar Bin's Shakey Sundays begin.
Here we go:
Neil Young did not yet know how to be NEIL YOUNG in 1968. When putting together his debut solo album he:
Overdubbed instruments and vocals alike instead of leaving everything as live and raw as an octopus that's just been tossed up On The Beach;
Brought in ace session musicians and back up vocalists instead of the wandering cast of reckless, drunken fools who he's been working with ever since;
Boxed up (nearly) every raggedy edge of his sound into tiny, bite-sized morsels instead of pummeling us into submission;
Bounced around from one real studio to the next over three months instead of doing it all in a barn or in front of a crackling fire in the night;
Waffled between, and deferred to, three different producers instead of ordering everyone around like they were his private army of Jawas; and finally,
He recorded while sober.
And yet the end result is a lovely, under-appreciated record, one you're fairly likely to pick up in any Dollar Bin to this day. I suspect a lot of casual collectors have bought Neil Young in the last 55 years based on the twin false assumptions that Joni Mitchell painted the cover (she didn't) and that it'll sound, you know, like Heart of Gold. Lucky for you, those buyers listened to the album once, understood none of it, then chucked it. So go get it already.
I remember picking up my own copy for a buck or two. It was the summer of 1992 and I had a bus ticket to take me from my grandmother's house in North San Diego all the way to my buddy Ned's parent's house in Coronado. I was 16 and had the day off from my summer camp job. Every cent of my huge $46/week salary was in my pocket and I had zero bills to pay nor any responsibilities to speak of. That sounds so awesome.
Anyway, there I was on the bus, feeling groovy. I'm not too spontaneous a guy but I saw a record store along the way and got out; there was yet another shop across the street. Encinitas, CA, was a cool place to be 30+ years ago; today I'm sure those store fronts are both dedicated to the kind of high end vegan yoga wear I'd need to take out a home loan to get into. But oh boy, just imagine how good I'd look...
Neil Young was included in my Dollar Bin haul from that afternoon, as was Time Fades Away. Who knows what else; who knows why I remember any of this.
Then again, I know exactly why I remember this: it was one of the funnest days of my life. I showed up at Ned's a few hours later and showed off my new records to a pretty big swath of 16 year old boys. No one was impressed; at that point Neil's only real claim to fame with grungy white kids was that Sonic Youth had opened for Neil the previous year. No one really cared about Sonic Youth; they only cared that Nirvana had once opened for Sonic Youth.
Poor Kurt was still alive and well at that point; he was the most famous musician on the planet. Everyone wanted to talk about him, not speculate with me about the fact that one single song seemed to take up nearly all of Neil Young's B Side.
So, instead of talking about Shakey, we spent the rest of the day, and night, driving from one 7-11 to another all over San Diego county, hunting for the most mythical of Slurpee flavors: Cinnabomb. That's a quest that I suspect a lot of 16 year old boys could still passionately get behind. Sadly, we never found Cinnabomb, but I did learn how to jump out of Ned's Vanagon with everyone else at red lights and make a lap around the car while screaming.
Good times. No, Great Times.
At that point I liked Neil but was still a year away from lifelong devotion. In a future post about Weld (uh oh, maybe I will need to do all the live records too?) I'll describe what it was like seeing him live for the first time a year earlier; I think it permanently altered the shape of my face. But I was too young to really know it yet.
After 31 years of pretty regular listening to Neil's debut, I'd argue that it demonstrates just how many different paths were open to him as he transitioned away from what was essentially a big deal boy band, Buffalo Springfield.
Neil Young opens with The Emperor of Wyoming, one of the most unique tracks Young's ever produced. As the strings play toss with Neil's slick guitars, opening a comfortable prairie scene to the sun, the wind and to our cheerful gazing eyes, we're given the immediate sense that Young could have wound up becoming a proper musician: scoring films, producing for others, you know, making music for normal people.
youtube
Missing entirely from the track is any sense of underlying menace, and menace is always a hallmark of Young's best work. Rather, it sounds as though the fine people of Wyoming are all holding hands and working together to build their Emperor a lovely barn, a barn no one will ever convert into a recording studio. Rather, everyone will have access; the people's grain will be safe and the Emperor will bestow handfuls of flowers upon every last one.
It's an instrumental track, and how many of those are on all 45 of Neil's albums? There's all of Dead Man, of course, but that's a soundtrack album. Side 2 of Neil Young opens with another instrumental, as well, one that he seemingly had absolutely nothing to do with. And I think that's it! Neil put this great track together, then never made music like this ever again. Wow.
But there's a back story of course: I think The Emperor of Wyoming is a sequel of sorts to a track Young didn't release, in his classic, mercurial fashion, for another 40+ years. Take a listen to Slowly Burning, recorded under the Buffalo Springfield moniker a year earlier. In actuality it's Young in the studio with session musicians, teaching himself how to make beauty.
youtube
Next up on Neil Young is The Loner, and we start to hear the Neil Young we know. There's plenty of that menace I was talking about in the song's titular character: this guy is watching you, probably right now, and if you get off the train at your station alone, he'll know that you are.
youtube
But Neil wasn't ready to unleash such menace sonically: every sense of the chaos he'd tapped into on Mr Soul a year and half earlier is immediately strangled off on The Longer, leaving room for full strings. Young was ready to sing about creeps. But he had not yet decided to sound like one.
The drums suck on this track; the guy responsible would go off and found the band Poco, together with the album's primary bass player, Jim Messina, who is the sole member of Buffalo Springfield that Young welcomed into this project (and Messina was barely a member of the band, only playing on their last record). My famous brother will probably soon tell me that Poco is a a big deal band I ought to get into. He's wrong; I know this even though I have never listened to a Poco record; I simply have intuited that they are un poco terrible.
But back to Buffalo Springfield. I debated starting this entire project with their first record. After all, that's the first thing Neil properly released. That record is great for a lot of reasons. For one thing, it demonstrates that Stephen Stills, at least for a moment, didn't suck. But Neil Young is where we're starting!
The most important hold-over from the Springfield era on this record is producer and pianist Jack Nitzsche, one of Neil Young's three outside producers. Nitzsche is a figure of significant folklore: he's like Phil Spector's mini-me: almost as prolific, almost as genius, almost as nuts. There'll be more to say about Jack on future Shakey Sundays. For now, suffice it to say that he was once arrested for chasing his, and Neil's, former lady friend, Carrie Snodgrass, around her home with a handgun. And then, years later, he and Snodgrass got back together.
Nitzsche seems responsible for much of the greatness within the very best song on Neil Young, The Old Laughing Lady. Every version Neil's ever done of the song is wonderful. He hypnotized himself and every one else present with his coffee house version, busked it incognito on an Amsterdam street corner, rewrote it almost entirely for his 76 acoustic tour, complete with train effects, and laid it down in isolated, after hours perfection during the credits of his otherwise dull concert film Heart of Gold. Next up I hope there's a children's choir involved, singing through his vocoder.
Neil Young's studio take of Old Laughing Lady is a masterpiece. Nitzsche's piano lines are subtle and deft; his production corrects the amateur flourishes that undercut the previous year's Broken Arrow: everything is dense and sparse at once, and the backing vocals, led by the incomparable Merry Clayton a year before she laid down some of the best vocals in any rock song ever on Gimme Shelter, are a surging, moaning pulse that's, once again, unlike anything else Neil would ever put on tape.
But arguably the best thing of all on the song is the bass line. Take a listen.
youtube
That's not Jim Messina. It's Carole Kaye, the only female member of Phil Spector's studio band, later known as The Wrecking Crew. Light years ahead of her time, Kaye is responsible for a bunch of the best notes in all the 60's. She's the bass player on Pet Sounds and Smile; her playing there reset the entire way Paul McCartney played bass. She's on La Bamba, I Hear a Symphony and Love's Forever Changes, plus hundreds of other songs we all know from the late 50's and 60's.
So why don't we talk about her all the time? Sexism people, sexism. The poor woman was abused by her music teacher when she was 13 years old and wound up marrying him and having his child at age 16. Somehow she rose above this all and broke just about every barrier you can imagine in the studio. And good for her: she bailed on the whole hideous scene two years after playing on Neil Young. Now the internet is filled with sweet images of her like this one:
Tumblr media
But why doesn't she play on all of Neil Young? After all, she was in the sessions a year earlier that produced Expecting to Fly and Slowly Burning.
I'm guessing that a) she was too expensive for Neil (she once claimed, without bravado, that she made more as a session musician than she would if she were President of the United States), and b) Neil was already realizing that he's happiest and most successful when surrounded by lesser musicians. No offense Jim Messina, but you didn't freak Neil out with your mad skills. Carole Kaye did.
Much of the rest of the album is filler, stuff Young wrote to flesh out the record and stuff he largely has not returned to since. But most of that filler is great.
Take I've Been Waiting For You. If you set aside Young's uptight, anodyne vocals and the fact that this song is little more than a chorus and a guitar riff, you'll discover that Neil was well on his way to Prince-like studio skills. He stacks up his own organ, piano and guitars atop drums that don't suck. The whole thing, even the unfunny Ha's! in the intro, swings.
youtube
But we've got to end this first Shakey Sunday by taking note of the most important relationship Young began during the record. Indeed he says it was one of the most important relationships in his entire life. Supposedly, Neil was hitchhiking in Topanga Canyon at some point in 68 when a guy even crazier than him, David Briggs, picked him up. I guess we'll buy into that story and wonder if we would have stopped for Neil in 1968. Before you jump to any conclusions, remember what he looked like at that point.
Tumblr media
I don't know about you, but I'd have left his ass on the side of the road.
Briggs had no real qualifications for producing Young or anyone else at the time. But he quickly supplanted both Nitzsche and Ry Cooder in the production booth and helped Neil make more than half of Neil Young. Briggs had exactly what Neil was looking for at the time, and he's still looking for it now: sublime amateurism, both from himself and from his contributors.
Maybe Briggs taught Neil how to run around the car screaming at red lights during their first drive together; maybe not. But either way, he made Neil happy, and he started to get him truly comfortable in front of a microphone for the first time.
Thank God they found one another. Yes, some of what they made on Neil Young is mediocre for Young, and the album's never-ending final track, Last Trip To Tulsa, is one of my least favorite Neil Young songs (except when the Stray Gators are tearing it into wonderful pieces), but most of the best things we'll talk about in these upcoming posts came from the partnership between Young and Briggs.
And so I hope you're out there right now with a similarly sweet partner of any kind, digging your Shakey Sunday.

it is christmas at babusia's house of murderchildren!! what do people get rabbit? what festive treats or traditions does he gravitate towards? (do that many cats make a decorated tree unwise)
Merry christmas in july!!
Baba’s cats are suspiciously well trained because everyone at Baba’s is suspiciously well-trained, so the tree is mostly left alone - Rabbit (tall, good uncle) comes down to help decorate it early in the season with any younger kids in the family. He’s the guy lifting babies up to put the star on top because he’s 100 feet tall. Most of the ornaments have been made by him :) some have been painted by murderchildren :) they are doing the strings of popcorn/dried oranges thing it's all very cute
Rabbit predictably is the worst person to get things for because he actively does not want anything. The shelves in his cabin are for pickled root vegetables and little wooden fish he’s going to paint later, leave him alone you are giving him an inconvenience. you gift-wrapped a burden. What’s he going to do, build another shelf? Please no items.
Traditional Rabbit Burdens are as follows:
—From baba, a sweater/socks/scarf that matches quinn’s christmas gift sweater/socks/scarf. this is tradition. they both act like it’s a delightful coincidence every time :3 matching lads :3 :)
—From Quinn, wood carving tools (risky, but quinn is Gun Specifications Georg he does research he knows what rabbit has and what he needs and what he’s ok with having be bought by someone else etc); books he thinks Rabbit might like; paint sets; a photo album of cool pictures he took that year since you know rabbit you don’t leave the cabin you probably haven’t seen a beach in a decade (shut up) do you remember what buildings look like (shut up)
—From Masha, usually baked goods (she baked them <3 sometimes they are rabbit-shaped <3 sometimes they are weird flavours that only he specifically will enjoy due to he has no tastebuds <3) or really fancy jam that he would never in a million years buy for himself because *rabbit voice* dont fuckin buy jam you can make jam. fruit’s free (he loves the jam)
—From Alina (Nadiya), fancy cigars. Rabbit smokes once every 3.5 months when he hits a wall of “i need a vice or i’m gonna do some ophelia shit in the river outside” and she thinks he should treat himself etc. Also occasionally Very Expensive Alcohol because Rabbit only drinks during family gatherings and, again, treat yourself
(No one else is daring to hand rabbit an item)
Rabbit prefers to sit in the corner of all festivities with a few cats, in his quinn-mandated party hat, not making conversation. however he’s also been a participant in the decades-long annual board game/card game grudge match between quinn and several other cousins, gambling is involved, there is yelling (rabbit is not yelling rabbit is sitting in his chair petting a kitty and enjoying the satisfaction of being a champion at, like, cribbage <3).
Other activities: eating a superhuman amount of food in absolute silence with beloved nephew chattering next to him. Nodding at people who are singing holiday songs and resolutely not participating. Losing to Quinn at darts and pretending to be grumpy about it. He also occasionally joins in on the arm wrestling later in the night if he thinks someone else is getting too cocky and needs to feel bad abt themselves for a minute

Jensen JIB13 Sunday Panel
Before he gets to the questions there is somebody celebrating their birthday so he gets the crowd to sing them happy birthday.
And he shares that he hadn't been able to sleep on the flight on the way to the con because during the flight when everybody was supposed to be sleeping there was one person awake, with the light on and hitting a prayer bowl. So, he only got to sleep for an hour or two before being woken up by the sound of the prayer bowl and he saw the flight attendant go over to the young lady to ask her to stop, and she stopped but then got up and flew running down the aisle, arms up in the air and he doesn't know if that was some sort of physical smudging, but he was so confused. He goes to the bathroom and when he's going back to his seat, he passes past her seat and sure enough there's the prayer bowl and the little mallet, and a notepad that had written in crazy scratch 'don't hurt me' with hurt circled and 'I am woman, I am god, god is woman woman woman woman woman'. He didn't go back to sleep after that worried he'd wake up to her hovering above him like in the House on Haunted Hill, that was in his head the rest of the night.
What new countries would he like to visist, and why?
He mentions Iceland, says he's always wanted to go there and has a friend who lives there who keeps telling him to visit. Also, New Zealand, same thing he hears it's amazing, he's never been there and has friends who live there like Karl Urban tell him to visit. When he mentions Karl the crowd reacts and says they're mad at him for cancelling his appearance and Jensen tells them he's fishing, to leave him alone 😆
But there's a lot of places, he loves to travel, and this world has a lot to offer. The fan is from Russia, and he says he'd love to go see Russia he's heard very good things from M. x
Would he ever consider doing audiobooks?
Yeah, he would definitely consider that; he does enjoy doing the voice over stuff it's probably something he got from his father who does a lot of voice work and has been for many years. He takes the opportunity to wish a happy Father's day, and says they were having a little toast in the green room; he does like the voice over stuff and yeah he'd be interested in audio books he thinks it'd be fun. x
Did he see that Anne Twist, Harry Style's mom, shared the clip where he talks about seeing Harry in concert?
He says, really? hey, Harry Styles mom can I get some tickets? hey Harry Styles mom, gorgeous thing you, how about some tickets to see your son? 😂
Somebody, years ago, gave him Harry's first solo album and they told him he'd like it and he didn't believe them then he listened to it and he secretly liked it for years but he didn't tell anybody, and now he doesn't care he thinks Harry's a talented dude who's got incredible showmanship, and he was not expecting to be as entertained as he was when he went to that concert. Which he'll be honest, it was his daughter and her friends who really wanted to see him but because he takes his kids to school everyday, in the car JJ likes to dj, so he has to listen to a lot of Harry, and Taylor, and knows more of those songs that he ever thought he would, and he doesn't hate them. He briefly tells the story about how Phil Collins In the Air Tonight came on and JJ wanted it to change it but he said no to wait for the drum solo and he ended up hurting his neck jamming along. x
Sort of update to this, Anne saw a clip of this moment and reacted to it on twitter!
On Friday during Drake Rodger's panel he shared the story of his chemistry read and said one time he was caught on camera drinking beer and he asked the fan to ask Jensen what his impression was of that moment
Jensen says that what happened was they were on Zoom, and he, D, Thompson, and the other producers turned their cameras off but Drake's was still on and he's still sitting there while they're on the phone having a discussion, and sure enough he drinks a beer and Jensen noticed and pointed it out and Thompson didn't think so but D also thought he was drinking, and Jensen said "he's hired, that's it he's my guy", that's how he remembers that moment. They all laughed, and then they got back on and he asked Drake if he was drinking and Drake denied it and held up his water bottle saying it's just water and Jensen was like 'yeah, and what about that bottle of Medalla you got right off screen?' and he got all nervous. That's how he remebers that moment and he never lets him forget it either.
He will say Drake picked up the baton very quickly in the messing with any and everyone, including him which he always thinks it's funny when Drake tries to prank him or mess with him. x
How does he feel during certain emotional moments in SPN like when Sam told Dean they were no longer brothers and wouldn't try to save him?
There's very little about the story of SPN that he ever disagreed with most of, he believes, what they did, what they experienced and what the characters said to each other were all part of a bigger story and so he never really got overly hung up on stuff like Sam saying that particular thing because he knew it would come back around in some way, shape, or form to be a positive. He tells- he calls it a fable but it's actually a parable that goes: a man and his son are working the land and the son breaks his leg, and all of the villagers come over and say 'oh im so sorry that your son broke his leg that must be awful' and the man replies 'might be awful, might be good, we'll see' that week the military comes by to recruit all the able bodied young men but his son had a broken leg so he couldn't go and now the villagers are saying 'oh my god it's so great that they didn't take your son' and the man once again says 'maybe, maybe not', and it keeps going and the point is you never know what might be good or what might be bad in any given situation. He just always had faith that it was going to be positive down the road, and he guesses you could be the person that always feels like it's going to be negative down the road but that's no fun so don't be that person. x
He reccomends looking up the parable, for anyone interested in doing so you can look up the parable of the Chinese farmer.
Has he heard Dean's French dubbing, and if not would he like to one day?
He has not heard the French dubbing of Dean but it would be interesting. He has heard a couple of different dubbings but he doesn't think he's heard the French one, he'll look it up. x
The fan shares the fun fact that the actor who dubs him as Dean also dubs him as Soldier Boy but the fan doesn't like him as Soldier Boy because they don't have a deep voice, and I guess it's too happy. Watch the clip it's so funny and Jensen also does Soldier Boy in a Mario voice 😂
He's a little charmer in French 💕
If he had the opportunity of directing a movie, what kind of movie would he direct?
Probably an action-adventure type of movie. Those are the kind of things that he likes doing in general as far as like an actor goes; he likes fast-paced upbeat adventurous type of stuff so something like that. x

4, 18, 21, 27 (for the music ask game)
hi charmy!! thanks for the ask :D
4. what band started it all for you?
GREEN DAY BAYBEE!!! i discovered the band when i was 11 and they genuinely started So Many things. they were the first band i was actually properly into, for one. i never really got That into an artist until i discovered green day. like "knows the most niche fun facts about the band" kind of into them. the band pretty much opened my eyes to a bunch of shit going on in the world, too, i think. especially since i was so into the american idiot album and its concept. that album alone was kind of my gateway into getting really interested (and very angry at) most real world problems. i also got really into music because of the band!! green day definitely has a much more polished sound than most punk bands from their era, but i think the way they work with their instrumentals, and their vocals, and their lyrics is what really got me hooked. they're by no means the best, but i do think their bassist, mike dirnt, is severely underrated. he clearly knows his shit!! and his basslines have a very distinct style to em!! i loved him so much i picked up the bass bc of him actually!!
18. what song in your playlist sounds like this 🖤🩸⛓💣🗡🪨 but the lyrics are 💖❤️🥰🤩💘💕
okay i don't know if this really counts but literally any of billy cobb's covers. the one that first comes to mind though is his cover of dancing queen by ABBA
21. what’s the weirdest song title you can think of right now.
no reason boner by ninja sex party.
27. if you can play any instrument, what’s your favorite song to jam to??
depends on what instrument i'm playing!! recently, whenever i practice playing bass, i looove playing jeremy by pearl jam. a really fun bass line to play, AND jump along to! if it's not that, then it's longview by green day. genuinely, if you've never listened to that song i would so recommend it. the walking bass line is so fun and so heavy and it works so well with the drums, and i really think it's a testament to mike's talent.
if i'm playing the guitar, i love playing heart-shaped box by nirvana. whenever i play guitar, i'll be singing too, and i kinda suck at singing And playing so i like anything that's pretty easy to play but not exactly boring. plus!! heart-shaped box is just a fun song to play no matter what!!!

Hi Kelley ;) I hope you have a good weekend! For the ask game: 8, 1, 15 and 18 with ... puh, I can't decide who to pick😅. I think I will go with Olli and Aleksi (Hope they are okay, if not feel free to pick any other pairing of BC 💕)
Hi Gemma. :) I hope you have a great weekend too! 🖤
Ooh, interesting ship choice! I don’t think I’ve ever written them together before, but I’ll try my best. 😅

8. What do they love most about the other? Why?
Aleksi loves Olli’s patience. Joel has ADHD and gets bored quickly when they’re trying to record an album. Joonas wants to take breaks and goof off. Niko gets grumpy when the vocals he recorded aren’t perfect.
But Olli…Olli is chill. He doesn’t mind spending all day in the studio, recording a bass part fifty times, until his perfectionist producer/boyfriend decides it’s right.
Olli also doesn’t mind when a “date night” is just sitting in the backyard with Rilla, drinking beer and grilling sausages and listening to music. He doesn’t expect Aleksi to impress him with fancy dinners or expensive nights out.
Olli, on the other hand…what he loves most about Aleksi is how hardworking he is. He was the last member to join their band, but he’s thrown his whole soul into making it a success. He knows in his heart that Dark Side would never have made them stars, if not for Aleksi being involved in the production and percussion.
He also loves the mischievous smirk that appears on Aleksi’s face when they’re alone. It’s such a contrast, with his angelic and youthful looking face.
1. Describe their first date.
It was after a long day in the studio. They went to a bar in Helsinki, that they’d been to a million times before. But it was different without the other guys there. It was different, because this time, they weren’t just going “as friends”.
Olli didn’t have to hold back anymore. When he was a few drinks deep, and the urge to crawl across the booth, into Aleksi’s lap, came over him, he didn’t have to resist it.
Aleksi’s pale cheeks turned pink, but he leaned into Olli’s cuddly, drunken embrace, not caring how many people saw them.
15. What songs remind you of their relationship?
Olli knows Aleksi is a huge Bring Me The Horizon fan.
So, imagine him learning “Drown” on acoustic guitar, in order to impress him!

18. How do they care for each other when one of them is wounded/sick?
When Olli heard that Aleksi had the flu, he drove all the way from Oulu to Helsinki to take care of him. His grandmother taught him that bilberries will make a sick person feel better. So he picked a whole basket full, before he left home. He offered to hand-feed them to Aleksi, but the feverish man laughed and refused.
The laugh turned into a cough, and Olli told Aleksi to stay in bed, while he started making jam, in his tiny apartment kitchen.
(Aleksi isn’t as good at domestic things. When Olli gets sick, he has tissues and medicine delivered to Olli’s house by a courier.
Oh, Olli thinks sheepishly. Yeah, using a delivery service makes more sense, than driving for six and a half hours by yourself.)

Chris Forsyth — Solar Motel (Expanded) (Algorithm Free)
Tumblr media
Chris Forsyth marks the ten-year anniversary of his turn from towards rock with this expanded edition of Solar Motel, augmented with two previously unreleased studio tracks and a side-long live WFMU recording of “Paranoid Cat.” The two newly released tracks are a revelation, solidifying and reaffirming Forsyth’s connection to Television (he studied with Richard Lloyd) with cartwheeling guitar riffs and roiling, surging percussion in the epic vein of Marquee Moon.
Forsyth was just off his 2011 release of Paranoid Cat when he made Solar Motel, stillstruggling for a way to incorporate a palette of influences—Television, Takoma-style fingerpicking, psych and drone—into a coherent aesthetic. Our own Bill Meyer saw him as only partly successful at this on the previous album, calling Paranoid Cat, “an album that is full of good ideas lifted from other people’s work, but he makes such good use of them that it’s easy not to care.”
Solar Motel, Forsyth’s first full-band album, was a big step towards the driving, boogie-ing, rock-leaning long grooves that we have since come to associate with the guitarist. In the notes, he says, “Solar Motel is the first record on which I overtly took rock tropes and twisted them into new shapes, incorporating so many of my interests and influences - the twin-guitar elegance of Television, the sprawl of West Coast psych, the boiled down Rock Minimalism of Rhys Chatham, the abstract tangles of free improv, an undercurrent of ecstatic jazz energy, and the studio textures of Eno/Cale/Roxy ‘70s art rock.… Solar Motel basically set the template for much of what I did for the remainder of that decade.”
The band for Solar Motel included Forsyth, drummer Mike Pride, bassist Peter Kerlin and keyboard player Shawn Edward Hansen, all musicians that Forsyth had worked with previously in various roles and configurations. It was recorded mostly live, though Forsyth put in additional guitar after the fact to build up Television-like layers of interplay. The music took shape in four numbered tracks Solar Motel I through IV.  “Part I” opens with tense, staccato guitar, at first alone, then joined by a second guitar and bass. The groove is insistent, cleanly minimal, and over it, Forsyth improvises warm, fluid arcs of solo guitar, and as it goes, the texture becomes less of a drone and more of a warm, living jam. This becomes a pattern over the next three track, as taut, disciplined motifs blossom into full-band free play. Repetition becomes a launching pad for the wildest swirls of improvisatory ornament, with sweet lyrical mid-range guitar vaulting over motorik grooves.
All that is still there, still striking in the way it marries austere experiment to lighter flaring guitar solo. If you haven’t heard it—or haven’t heard it in a while—all four original tracks remain very much worth a listen. However, it’s the new stuff that you’ll want to spin right away, because these two unreleased tracks take the basic experiment and launch them into richer, more exciting directions.
“Harmonious Dance,” at just under nine minutes, is the expanded release’s best tune. A slow chime of guitar notes hitting turbulence early on in Pride’s swelling drum roll. The notes get bigger, more resonant, more sustained as they go, taking on the burnished glow of Lloyd and Verlaine in tandem (though without the trebly yelp of vocals). “Long Warm Afternoon” starts out with warmth and sustained tones, building shimmering textures of guitar over a steady thump and roll. Both cuts feel less restrained, less tightly disciplined than the original Solar Motel cuts. It’s as if Forsyth had a concept for setting down guardrails and eventually swamping them with sensory data, and it took him a while to implement it fully.
The WFMU recording is fine, too, letting the twitchy glamor of “Paranoid Cat” stretch out, catch fire in a truly insane instrumental freakout and somehow stuff all that back into the bottle for a reprise of the original melody. But if you need a reason to check out this ten years after reissue, I’d look at the two unreleased tracks, where Forsyth and his band hit a groove they’ve been riding ever since.
