Old WIP

soo I know I havent been active in like forever BUT! I've slowly been getting back into bnha :)) ... I finally watched the latest movie and im almost up to date on the manga

anyways I had this idea for a fic like two years ago and I've decided its time I share it cause I don't think ill ever actually write it lol (mostly cause im just not motivated but also cause I lost the draft I had for it) keep in mind that I thought about this like two years ago tho so all the recent manga/anime developments never happend (also mentions of bad parent Mitsuki ahead)

it was gonna be a kid Katsuki fic where Bakugou got hit by a quirk that basically made him 10 years younger (so he’d be 6). And the ‘rules’ to this quirk were the following:

- whoever gets hit by the quirk instantly turns into themselves from 10 years ago

- but like. exactly themselves from exactly 10 years ago. so they'd have the exact memories and body they had at the exact time of day just 10 years in the past.

- so for example if u got hit with the quirk at 3:23pm on the 10th of august 2022 you’d turn into the version of yourself from 3:23pm on the 10th of august 2012 and if you were hungry or thirsty at that time in 2012 you'd still be hungry or thirsty when you appear in 2022 (this is rlly vague but hopefully it makes some sense lmao)

-also say you were playing outside at that time, you'd suddenly be super confused as to where you were and what was happening etc.

- its kinda like the person hit by the quirk rewinds exactly 10 years. does that make sense(?).

- after exactly 24 hours the person hit with the quirk ‘ages’ (or I guess ‘fasts forward’) exactly a year. so 3:23pm august 10th 2012 kid turns into 3:23pm august 11th 2013 kid. cause its a day later.

- they age by exactly a year every 24 hours until they reach they're actual age again. so it takes exactly 10 days for the quirk to wear off.

- whenever they age up again, they have no memory of the day before

those were the basic rules to the quirk and I can't remember if there was anything else to it but yeah (lmk if it made no sense ill try to explain better)

so in my fic I was gonna have Katsuki get hit by the quirk (obviously). and it was gonna be part of my Bakugou Katsuki is class 1a’s big brother - change my mind series which means that id have Katsuki already adopted by Aizawa and part of the Aizawa-yamada household. (Hitoshi, Shoto and Eri also part of the fam of course) but the adoption process was gonna either not be over yet or at least super recent and the extent of Katsuki’s past and abuse was not gonna be known by anyone. also I like hawks so I think I had Baku as hawks’ intern in this

I believe I had already written the first scene where I was gonna have Miruko, hawks and Bakugou out on patrol fighting some villains and then Bakugou getting hit by the quirk. (I forgot the password I need to get to the draft tho💀, so I can't share it with you guys at the moment)

anyways, I thought the idea had a lot of potential cause I was gonna have everyone see how Katsuki aged from a 6yo to a 16yo over the course of 10 days. and I was gonna make it that his ‘past selves’ that ‘appear’ had just been kidnapped or something or had a lot of buises or hadn't eaten in however long and then all of a sudden they find themselves in a room full of (to them) strangers who he obviously doesn't trust. everyone was gonna see first hand how messed up Katsuki’s childhood was. and in the meantime Katsuki was just gonna be trying to figure out whether he could trust these people or how he could escape them.

it was gonna be a lot of trauma and fun!

oh and I was gonna make it that when he initially got attacked by the quirk, it would've coincidentally be exactly 9 days away from the anniversary of when the sludge villain attacked him. meaning that his 14yo self (that would've showed up on day 9 of the quirk) was gonna happen to be in the middle of being choked by sludge whilst the quirk hit which would make it that (to him) it'd feel like he’d be fighting sludge one second and then he’d suddenly be in front of a whole class of UA students the next.

I had all these ideas for the fic that I can elaborate on if anyones interested! but I mostly just wanted to share this cause I started thinking about my old WIPs recently and thought it'd be fun to talk about them!

Not a lot of people knew this but there was an employee Daycare at U.A, students could get extra credit if they helped out.

"Alright (name) behave and have fun" Aizawa said to his son, holding him close to his face as the little babe just kicked his little feet and grabbed his dad's nose "glad we agree" he said in a nasally voice, handing his son odd to the caretaker before waving him off.

(Name) was used to this, having gone here every day for most of his short life and was gently placed in the baby area where it was all softer and less roudy than the larger space where all the bigger kids were aka the 2+ kids.

No one needed a toddler knocking over a little guy like (name), the eight month old usually distracted with the toys and things around and the few other babies kept him company till lunch.

When lunch came, Aizawa collected his son for half an hour as did most of the parents as he brought him back to the staff lounge so the two could eat together "oh snap! Is that tinyzawa?!" Present Mic said excitedly, making sure to keep his Quirk off lest he wants to deafen a baby "you saw him yesterday calm down" Aizawa scolded as his son rested in his arms as before be grabbed him the babies of the daycare had a good ol'fashioned naptime "I'm his god parent! I can't relax with him!" Was what Aizawa got back from the blond as (name) grumpily stared at his god parent.

"God he really looks like you when he's tired"

"Well he is my son"

Aizawa fed and changed his son, the heroics teacher had been told little (name) had his diaper changed earlier and had a soft snack so it was a good old fashioned bottle for lunch "dang he's hungry" midnight joked as she watched the tiny babe guzzle down his formula "hes just downing it"

Aizawa grunted as he watched his kid eat, when the bottle was pushed away he burped the babe and rubbed his little belly "good job bud"

The staff all loved little (name), the tiny babe having playmates with fellow teachers kids and the occasional playdate, it's proven to be pretty good for (name).

Aizawa ate his lunch fast, not because he had a time frame but because his son kept trying to examine everything he had.

So he had to act fast.

Because his son was very curious and demanded to investigate everything.

Thankfully his god parent distracted him while Aizawa ate.

"You're gonna look just like your dad I can tell" Hisashi said teasingly to the tiny baby who looked at the blond with Aizawas signature expression as he suckled on his pacifier "I wonder if your going to have a quirk like your papa"

At the mention of his papa (name) bounced slightly and turned to look for his dad and when he saw him he began clapping excitedly "yeah yeah, one moment" Aizawa said putting his stuff away before grabbing his son "let's get you back to the daycare"

Aizawa put his son in the infant section, his little boy looking at his wide eyed "alright be good bud, love you"

"Dadadadada" (name) said happily as he gave a little wave, causing Aizawa to pause "....good job bud" he said softly smiling before leaving to go teach his students.

Thankfully he had his capture weapon because the rest of the day he was smiling like a fool.

I don't get the hate all might recieves from this fickle fandom while Aizawa gets praised over the moon.

Yes All might have told izuku to give up first but I don't see anything wrong now or even when I first watched season 1. The man has more experience and has already seen his fair share of cruelty over the years. He knows the difficulty of being a Hero with a quirk and even with all of that power, It took him losing his stomach to beat AFO. All might was being realistic here. He didn't want to be reckless & give false hope or encouragement here. Also he didn't laugh or outright tell him to quit. He told izuku who had no power to try other ways to become a Hero which was being a policeman.

2nd what did izuku do before meeting all might?. Absolutely nothing. On top of being quirkless He didn't have a strong physique to back it up. Sure he wrote analysis on quirks, heroes and villains but that's not gonna help in the longer run. All Might wouldn't know what Izuku would've gone through in life till this point. He doesn't know izuku was suicide baited. I'm not bashing Izuku but trying to see this from AM's side as well. Maybe he could've seen Izuku's behaviour to determine that the kid was abused but then again the man was also in a hurry and probably wasn't in the right frame of mind after displaying his long kept secret to a middle school kid.

Still All Might fckin apologized for his earlier comments and approved Izuku. He helped izuku get in shape, and gave his quirk. Encouraged him time and time again positively.

Wtf did Aizawa do? Ridiculed Midoriya infront of everyone. Never apologized. Never once supported him and always put izuku's abuser on a pedestal. Heck izuku should've been in top 10 in the apprehension test. He had better physical stats than Denki, Jiro, uraraka ( yeah she wasn't OP with her quirk during that time and had a lot of stamina issues), Koji, Mineta, Toru, Ashido to name some. Are we sure Aizawa didn't rig the exam?. Narrative protected that POS. Never once encouraged Izuku, never helped him when he was struggling with his quirk. Never even bothered to train his students in quirkless combat but went out of his way to tutor Shinso. His only good points are being a good hero and a good gaurdian for Eri but that ain't enough for getting this much praise. He knew Iida was going after Stain but didn't do anything.

All Might has flaws being a teacher but he at least tries his best to help Izuku with his problems and always been there for him. He encouraged his students every time. Trains them and has always been there for them unlike a certain someone.

All of All Might's good points outweigh Aizawa's by a higher margin.

End of my rant, i just see this as too unfair how fanfics bash All might for no fuckin reason while it coddles Aizawa. Especially the Dekuverse fics. Heck Hori himself treats All Might like shit in canon. The Izuku solo arc is a good proof.

All Might deserved better both in Canon and in Fanon.

I get it in the sense that the fandom follows suit of what the story itself is doing - AM gets critiqued more than Aizawa by the narrative (since Aizawa is Hori's favoured mouthpiece) and the fandom follows suit.

Dadzawa as a trope is also largely wish fulfilment. The wish to see 1A as a family and the wish to see Aizawa as the 'stern mentor/ father figure with a heart of gold' archetype. When Aizawa is not this - especially not to Izuku.

If anything All Might is Izuku's key mentor / father figure in the story. He made his mistakes in regard to Izuku but made up for them and apologised. AM also does his best to learn how to be a teacher and be supportive to Izuku and take care of him. Aizawa never does and Hori parades all of his actions as logical so the fandom (at large) doesn't critique him for them.

All Might is traumatised but Hori rarely focuses on it (unlike Aizawa's trauma), so it gives him less sympathy and exploration from it by the fans.

All Might fought a battle only his power in OFA could win. It was quirkless Izuku acting to save Bakugou that made All Might aware that Izuku had potential and that he shouldn't have been so hasty to judge him. All Might also didn't know Izuku took to analysis and suggested alternatives to heroics he felt more suited to a quirkless person.

Adding to this, All Might also began Quirkless himself so it's unlikely he would actually hold extreme Quirkist views like I've seen in some bashing fics (actually looking at Canon Aizawa displays more quirkest attitudes than All Might*.)

Yet the majority of the fandom focuses on All Might's intial refusal of Izuku's dreams and scapegoat him for Izuku's lack of self worth. - The narrative does this too, disgustingly through Bakugou's mouth, not acknowledging once that Bakugou and poor Teachers to Izuku (like Aizawa) are the cause of it.

Did Aizawa rig the exam? I think (and a lot of others critical of Aizawa) think he did. As you rightly pointed out Izuku should have been higher in the quirk apprehension test than he did (especially since he trained religiously and followed a training plan made by the Number One hero for months!)

Unironically, Aizawa at the beginning of the story seemed to dislike Midoriya, and consistently he has favoured Bakugou over him (more on this point later.)

He also viewed Bakugou's bullying as a "rivalry."

Why is this?

Other than the actual reason - Aizawa is Hori's Mouthpiece and therefore have him be Bkg's biggest simp to try to make us like him - there are two options.

1) Aizawa is either not as observant as he thinks he is (supported by him falling asleep all the time - so obviously by doing this he would miss things.) 2) OR Aizawa is malicious and thinks Midoriya needs to toughen up and deal with his bully like he did.

Neither of these options make Aizawa look particularly good. But 1) has room for growth and 2) does not.

Where is the logic in the Quirk Apprehension test? It favours those quirks that Aizawa claims he dislikes that the entrance exam favours - those flashy and combattive quirks such as the ones that belong to Bakugou, Todoroki and Yaoyorozo.

Additionally, singling out Izuku like that, on the first day would be realistically massively damaging to a student and to the classes morale overall.

Would you be comfortable with a 'third parent' (as these homeroom teachers are meant to be) or a teacher in general who does that to a classmate or to you the second they show they need some help? I wouldn't be...

Where is the logic in favouring Bakugou (who essentially a worse version of Aizawa's bully at U.A - Sensoji) or Shinsou who didn't work for his dream of Heroism and only attempted to skate in on his powerful quirk? These should both be characters that Aizawa (from what we are narratively told about him) dislike. Yet Hori does not allow this to occur as Aizawa is Hori's favoured mouthpiece and Hori wants him to have a mini me in Shinsou.

*- There appears to be a degree of quirkism ironically at play here. Bakugou is favoured because he is confident and has a quirk that is "perfect for heroics".

Whereas Shinsou is favoured because Aizawa sees someone like himself. The other students - Aizawa isn't shown to care all that much (aside from the additional to the story artworks.)

And as for Eri, Aizawa seems to care for her but honestly we don't see her nearly enough to judge whether he's actually a good guardian. There's also the fact of Aizawa seeming to struggle to take care of himself and how he treats his students so realistically, would he be a good guardian to her?

In universe, in spite of all logic, Aizawa has apparently been teaching as 'hardass ExpellZawa' for years without consequence - against himself or UA as an institution .

And Aizawa has never once reflected on the long term damage that all of his trauma response methods would do on all his students - not just the ones he expelled.

Hori never even had Aizawa question himself at any point - because the fact that he's Hori's mouthpiece means Aizawa is never meant to be wrong so he never believes himself to be. That stunts him as a character.

Even the revelation of Kurogiri as KurOboro didn't make him do this.

Aizawa, as he is in canon, is heavily traumatised, too set in his ways and too much of a mouthpiece for Hori. Hori also either doesn't see the point of or the interest in having Aizawa grow from his mistakes and heal from his trauma - which is a shame.

Whereas All Might, as he is in canon, is also heavily traumatised, has been crapped all over by Hori but is shown to do his best in learning and growing from his mistakes - both as a teacher and mentor to Izuku.

Final thoughts:

Sorry I responded with a rant of my own!

Personally, I find Dadzawa fine in a fic, as long as it has DadMight too OR has Aizawa make up for his mistakes to the class and grow as a mentor.

However, as time has gone on and I've got more into MHA, I find it really irritates me to see a fic bash All Might. Especially using Aizawa to do so, when in canon Aizawa has done much worse as a teacher - especially to Izuku and his past classes.

I stand by the opinion that although Canon!Aizawa may care for Class 1A as he currently acts - he should not be a homeroom teacher or have his trauma responses be praised as 'logical teaching.'

Soo, let's continue with my oc mha kids! Now the Kirishima family~

Natsuki was born after an internal fight, some life-changing decision taking and many following miscarriages. Children were the last Katsuki was aiming for, but bonding with Izuku's son made him feel a certain type of emptiness - both of them got pregnant at the same time but only Haruki was born, because Izuku wasn't after ratings and didn't make becoming number one hero his main life goal. And he also had a very experienced, calm and supportive spouse(Rody), whereas Katsuki made Eijirou as nervous and uncertain as he was and also got very distant at that first time.

Haruki made Katsuki change his mind, but Natsuki was born only around 4,5 years later - and only after Katsuki completely quit hero work for that time. Born one month early, she's gonna live for all those before her - and she's doing it successfully, believe me!

A bit about her quirk: since she's mostly like Katsuki, they thought it's the same explosion. As it +turned out, if she gets really agitated, her skin may harden very insignificantly. Maybe with time and lots of training she might get somewhere with it? For now, she only gets really embarrassed when it goes all over her face (because that's what fifteen year old teens care about, even if she's the daughter of two famous heroes)

LET'S GO ANSWERED ASK TIME BBY

Is she going to stay YN or are you going to give her a name?

I'm going to give her a last name, but I'm really gonna try to write it such that [Y/N] or [Name] isn't explicitly used in abundance. That way everybody can feel like they're part of the story! I know a lot of people find the [YN] jarring as far as flow goes, and so I'm going to try to minimize it's use as much as possible.

There will definitely be some parts I'm sure where I'll need to use it, but for the sake of flow I'm going to try to make it as natural as possible.

As far as their last name...it's Tatsuma. Because that's the Family that Reader chose. <3

2. Can you share fun facts about her?

Reader attended her college program in America on a scholarship (so she's bilingual). She and Ryuko ended up video chatting at all kinds of weird hours thanks to the time difference. I like to imagine there was probably also a group chat that got inundated with all kinds of pictures and updates!

Her official job is in Risk Management with a focus on Pro Hero Liabilities, Damages, and Insurance. Essentially the liaison between agencies, Pro Hero's insurance policies, and she's the adjuster on claims for aforementioned damages (property or otherwise). The clerks can either work for third party insurance agencies or with a Hero Agency directly managing their insurance policies, payouts, and claims. As you can imagine, it's a lot of numbers.

Pro Hero chucks your car through a building? She's the one that manages that on behalf of the Pro Hero's Agency. Large agencies can usually afford to have their own dedicated Clerks and Adjusters, but smaller agencies contract out to 'Companies' that handle that sort of thing.

She got a bunch of vindictive pleasure of seeing All Might being active in America during her program. She was also known on her college campus for her Fiery Distaste of Pro Hero Endeavor when it came to discussing international rankings or Property Damage rates.

General Theory among the Risk Management course was that he blew up her car or something in collateral damages or something, but nobody was ever really sure.

Her Top 5 Favorite Heroes are: Ryukyu, All Might, Wild Wild Pussycats, Godzillo, and Present Mic (she likes his radio show).

3. What inspired you to create her?

There I was, sitting on my ass one snow-day like "Damn I wish Shouto had a better fucking family life--WAIT I CAN GIVE HIM ONE!"

Then I was like "I will also incorporate the Dabi is Touya Todoroki Theory" that was popular before the reveal.

I'm a sucker for family fix-it and Golden Route stories. Also I LIVE for found family and Characters who are now Dads to Gremlins. Dadzawa and Dadmight are my jams

As far as Reader's personality SPECIFICALLY...you'd need to have a pretty big fuckin' backbone to go against the Mountain of Horrible Temperament that is Enji Todoroki, so I started thinking about what may have caused him to be like that. I thought about what it might be like to have to constantly live with somebody with that Holier than Thou attitude, and what that must be like for somebody who wasn't as strong as he was. I admit that a LOT of fanfiction exploring Bakugou's bad attitude kind of steered how I figured Enji was raised. Bakugou was never told 'no' as a kid, and was always told he was going to be great...but lucked out that he ended up catching his mistakes in the Manga (eventually).

Enji Todoroki managed to make it to adulthood without Checking Himself before he Wrecked Himself, so I wrote Reader exploring that kind of childhood.

Also at the time I was a Teacher and I needed SOMETHING to do that wasn't stuffing my face with a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts every night due to stress so I picked up the super unstressful habit of WRITING /s

4. What's her relationship with All Might going to be like?

Until she knows him better/realizes he's her Super Hot Fence Hopping Neighbor, her relationship with All Might is going to be separated in the sense that most Fans are. Maybe with a little bit of personal umph in there because she wants SOMEBODY to keep putting Enji in his place and All Might is the most equipped to do it.

She also agrees with what he stands for, and helping others. It doesn't hurt that Shouto and Izuku are basically in love with the guy, so he's her favorite on principle because anything that makes Her Kids Happy makes her happy too.

It wouldn't matter if those kids were obsessed with Condiment King she'd buy all his merch if that was the case. It does come back to bite her in the ass when Touya smirks and asks for Midnight Merch and she side-eyes the fuck out of him because he's SUCH a little shit and he knows it

After she knows?

"I cannot bELIEVE you let me bad-mouth your Agency's handling of the last villain incident you listened to me BITCH ABOUT YOUR POLICY FOR HOURS--"

"I thought it was cute."

"I told you that you had a nice ass TO YOUR FACE!"

"That was also cute."

5. What's the relationship going to be like with her and her other niece and nephews?

***Natsuo: This boy has been stuck in the Middle for SO LONG. Between Touya having mental breakdowns at him, his parents fighting, and Fuyumi trying to constantly Fix the Family, he has not been allowed to Feel his Feelings for a long time. Co-conductor of the Endeavor Hate Train now that he is allowed to openly express his frustration with the previous family dynamic.

As far as his relationship with the Reader, he's on edge at first and keeps to himself. Definitely the 'Watch and Wait for the other shoe to drop' kind of situation. It takes a while before he's convinced that it's real and not just Endeavor Lite. He's quiet and easy going now that he's not under so much stress, and spends a lot of time being Very Interested in what Reader does for a living. He's interested in the Medical Field or Medical Warefare (according to the wiki), so he's interested in the non-spotlight hero work.

Definitely sits with Reader and popcorn going over old fight documentaries and pointing out the best ways to minimize damage, apply medical knowledge to combat situations, and treat casualties. Izuku fucking lives for these discussions and "Nerd Night" is a regular feature in the household (Fuyumi likes to watch her family be happy, Shouto is happy to discuss Pro Heros, and Touya just scrolls on his phone but he's THERE ok they're HIS nerds)

***Fuyumi: Eldest Daughter Syndrome (more like ONLY daughter syndrome) is going to be SO hard for Reader to break; but she's going to make damn sure that Fuyumi is able to have her own life outside of constantly trying to fix her family's problems! Out of all the siblings (aside from Shouto), Fuyumi is going to be the first one to warm up to Reader.

Reader makes sure to have Girls Night with Fuyumi either one-on-one or with Ryuko in attendance. It's important to have that dedicated time when you're surrounded by testosterone all the time! The fact that she wants to be a Teacher is touching and Reader is There For It and waving the biggest fucking embarrassing banner she can find at Graduation.

Fuyumi also gives The Stinkiest Side Eye whenever Reader just eats an entire box single-pack ramen noodles for dinner on late nights/busy seasons for work.

"Did you eat today?"

"Does 3 packages of Ramen count as eating--"

"AUNTIE I SWEAR--"

***Touya:

The TRAUMA with this one. Touya is going to be the kid that parents think of when they go "I hope you have a kid JUST LIKE YOU" only then Reader will shove her foot up their ass. He was raised just as brutally as Shouto was training wise, but then as soon as his Quirk started to show some drawbacks he was dropped like a sack of hot potatoes in favor of his literal baby brother.

This crushed his self-worth and he took it out on his Siblings (especially Shouto). Of all the siblings, Touya is going to be the one that holds out on Reader the longest. He just doesn't believe her when she tells him that it's ok to hurt, or that he's still worth something. There will be some INTENSE family therapy sessions with just the two of them, along with joint family therapy sessions to work through the trauma and abuse. Honestly that's not even going to cut it...and that's where Papa Yama has to step in and give him an outlet in the form of the Kickboxing Gym.

Sometimes you just have to punch a photo of your shitlord dad that your Aunt tapes to a punching bag for you to address your feelings.

Reader and Ryuko work together and find a quirk therapist to help Touya work through the drawbacks of his high-temperature fire, and one day he comes to Reader and asks if he can be a hero like he is with his flaws and all, and she doesn't even hesitate when she tells him "of fucking course you can, you are perfect just as you are."

He may have ended up dropping his cup and crying but then when it shows up in a display cabinet Kintsugi style...

"Oh shit? Am I the Kintsugi?"

"Yes you idiot you're my Kintsugi and I love you."

5. Does she still do kickboxing or go to her dad's gym?

Yeah, she still shows up from time to time at the gym! She's never NOT going to be there; that was like her second home! Admittedly she's rusty as fuck, but there was No Way that Ryuko and Yama were going to let her just NOT know self defense!

She ended up spending a lot of her free time there growing up, so she's got a decent relationship with the entire gym staff and clientele. Yama has a soft spot for lost causes, so he works a lot with troubled youth programs, giving kids a productive outlet and working through their issues/providing a safe space and positive role model.

As a result most of the reformed thugs in the area and gym patrons are basically like her extended fucking bodyguard network, but she doesn't know it at all. Except when the more vocal ones offer to jump Endeavor, which she knows is a one way ticket to jail so she DOES discourage that.

Yagi thinks it's funny that about 10 high-school aged punks try to corner him one day at the combini after patrol threatening to fight him for Reader's honor. They don't know he's All Might

6. What's her mom like?

Keiko knows what it's like to have people judge you for appearances; girls in her time were supposed to be quiet, small, and demure. Keiko can pick up a fully loaded semi truck and chuck it through the 8th story of a 7-story building. So when Yama shows up, gruff as shit with a soft gooey inside?

She saw that big, burly dragon man and basically screamed "Dibs".

Keiko Tatsuma Does No harm but Takes No Shit. Keiko is the mom that makes homemade pancakes every Sunday, but if you so much as look at her kid wrong she'll break you with her bare hands. She's...a big inspiration to Reader and was the mother she always wanted.

Those are her New Grandkids and they will have UNBRIDLED LOVE AND AFFECTION.

i love dadzawa as a concept but i was very shocked to see people consider this something which is 'based in canon' like. no. this man is an asshole i just liked the idea of what if he was an asshole but not to children wouldnt that be neat. to have this interesting character be a supportive figure in the students lives. hes not but wouldnt it be cool. but it turns out this is not what a lot of other people were thinking. sad!

Don't get me wrong: Aizawa /does/ get better/more parental as the series goes on, and he does legitimately care about these kids and want to help them. It even got retconned that his 'expelling 154 students' was just a 'temporary expulsion to teach them a harsh lesson'(which I still have problems wth but I digress)

But.

He's absolutely an asshole and has some major problems that fandom ignores because they find him hot. And since his problems are minor asshole moves instead of literal war crimes, they don't have to do the 'yeah he's an awful person but he's fictional and hot' thing when they justify their thirst over the LoV members, they just go 'uwu perfect father material!'.

Also gonna be honest: I like 'Dadzawa' as a concept, so I mostly balance this by just having the character development he gets in Canon happen a lot earlier so by the time 1-A gets him he's more in 'tired dad mode' than 'gonna be a dick to children' mode(aka: he still tests Izuku with the 'don't fuck up or you fail' thing, but it was more to see what he'd do and how he'd handle it so Aizawa can help going forward rather than trying to get him expelled. And also the results of the test are accurate where Izuku isn't dead fucking last lmao).

tropes- how do you feel about Trope soup, where a fic has multiple tropes that combine a lot of different stuff into either making a good or bad story?

Like for example, a dead Inko would lead for Izuku to temporarily angst then recover from it with the support of his friends and teachers, forcing the latter to step in and be a responsible authority instead of doing nothing. Conversely, a dead Inko with Izuku experiencing OOC moments, OOCness and bashing from characters who don’t deserve it, unjustified Dadzawa, the Bakusquad are better friends than the Dekusquad etc.

I feel like the moment you start writing to many what ifs, you lose sight of the original idea of what mha is and the scope of the story you’re writing. Your stories are based off of one change of a nail and how it results in butterfly effects that justify stuff like Bakugo receives Consequences(usually this isn’t used enough in general), but you keep the original idea of who these characters are and what they represent. Stories like Suspected Traitor Izuku lose sight of the original idea just for the wangst and add in so much tropes in the form of bashing the characters that Izuku gets along with.

Part of the issue with trope soup in general is writers missing the difference between tropes and themes. You overdose on tropes and it can drag down a work since it's just flat out doing too much. Say if you do do dead Inko! Actually look very in depth on how this would effect Izuku. Don't use it as a lazy means of having someone adopt him. Hell, even if the focus is to be on adoption, look at the why the person decided to do so, how Izuku is handling both that and Inko's death, and how things would ripple from there.

Yes I use specific tropes. Yes I literally have multiple TV Tropes pages. However, after the Nail I generally also am trying to look at themes and the ripple effects. A lot of the Sticks and Stones verse in reality is why, you well, have to think before you speak. Why you *can't* be careless (there's a reason part of the summary of WMH is 'loose lips sink ships and carelessness will drown you') or assume just because you think something, doesn't mean people will agree with you (Tensei, Bakugou, Aizawa). Sticks and Stones is going to look at the value of PR in heroics, and also the idea of breaking and making new legacies. And well, actions have consequences. I think Hori really does drop the ball there in canon. Why if you do all of this, how it'll ripple. Characters may get involved sooner. Groups may get involved sooner (like here with the HPSC; they're arguably the best group to actually look at UA's issues as a school which are very much there).

I will be blunt. Certain major arcs? Gonna be very different as a result of the events of TBYS. We may still see 'In Spite of a Nail' situations (like Shigaraki basically clocking in on Bakugou like he does in canon, but in this case for a much more logical reason), but not as much as you may think.

I really fucking hate it when you do a For Want of a Nail and then closely follow stations of canon. Don't do that. A lot of times it doesn't even make sense. It's honestly just lazy writing. Do I get why authors do it? Yes. Do I think they necessarily should? No.

In Words May Hurt I did still have the LOV attempt to attack at USJ. However the actually USJ incident doesn't happen because as a result of the events of TBYS the class is canceled. Shigaraki does still have an interest in Bakugou, as I've noted, but he doesn't actually know which student he is right now. He just knows one of the heroics students used basically lethal force and views that as a good potential recruit. As is very clear, Stain is still going to attack Tensei, however his *reasoning* is very different (and tbh avoids being whatever weird troll logic he used in canon).

I will confess certain stages of canon aren't avoidable. The Sports Festival literally has to happen, it's part of the scheduled school year events. USJ can be skipped however since class cancellations happen for various reasons including a sick teacher. Training camp can be canceled if UA decides the potential risk is too high. I'd argue Kamino or an equivalent can't be avoided (All Might does need to go out in some form of blaze of glory/we do need AFO out of the way for a while for LOV progression). You don't however need to have the same reason for Kamino to happen.

So. Um. Yeah not terribly fond of trope soup since a lot of time it's more authors wanting to shove as many tropes as they can in a fic and not necessarily thinking it through, or realizing there's a difference between trope and theme.

“Touya, Tou, Dabs, c'mon pleaseeee, please, please.”

Touya rolls his eyes as his best friend clings to his back and tries his best to shake him off balance, “No Kei! How many times do I have to tell you that All Might and Eraser already said we can't?!”

Tenko glares irritably at them over the top of his Switch, “Can you two shut your traps, you're supposed to be training not flirting.”

Touya whips his head around to glare at the other white haired boy and Tenko shrinks in on himself at the withering glare he's receiving. Unfortunately, this is just the opening that Keigo is looking for as he flings all his weight forward and sends the both of them crashing to the floor. Touya groans in pain and shoves Keigo off his back, “Thanks a lot bird brain you crushed my thermometer again. All Might's gonna be pissed.” The last part comes out a little whiny and the other two boys snicker at his distress.

UA students Tenko, Keigo, and Touya decide to sneak out of training to go watch the latest Spider-Man movie.

Announcement: Anniversary

Just me talking about the future of the fic :)

First off, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Wow a whole year (plus extra) WITH (near) constant updates, that's crazy. More than I can say for my other fic... (it haunts me. I still plan to finish it but ouch).

First things first!

I wanted to update sooner (since I've had this written for a month now) but I was also working on a one shot to post at the same time. I was making great progress but then finals came round and I got burned out. They're finished now but I'm still burned out. I'll give a brief hint about it though since I'm a little excited and just wanna talk about it. So its a Dadzawa fic that's actually happy and ends with them as a family (unlike how it was in the last chapter lol). It was supposed to cheer people up and also be practice for writing them as a family and stuff. The Danny is very different from the main fic tho. The fic was also supposed to serve as an anniversary present for all you guys too, to thank you for reading and being here. I really wanted to finish in time but it kept getting bigger as I wrote. I do hope to post it this month tho, so keep an eye out for that!

Next thing!

On AO3 it shows that the fic is now apart of a series and has a chapter count. I talked about this in the notes of a previous chapter, but I had been wanting to do that for a while now. I want to have the next part of the series out by next year. I know I have been updating monthly now, but I'm gonna try to do twice a month if I can. I'm really excited and It want it done soon! I might do 2 chapters this month or will just count the one shot if I get lazy.

I also added the tags "full ghost Danny." Sorry to burst anyone's bubble that held on hope for Danny. Tbh the original plan was that his human half was still hiding inside him, just healing and small, but it was gonna show up in one of the chapters. The longer the fic went on, the more I started to rethink that. The human reveal, while good in the short run, would crumble some of the plot lines I had set up while also not contributing much to the rest of the plot. I am debating maybe doing a short series of "what if" where that is the case tho, just so people can get a taste. If I like it enough I might make it a full thing. Who knows.

That is so huge! Gahhhh! Man, I am always critical of my writing (I've gotten better) but wow to have that kind of support just in my face! Literally speechless. I always had the thought in the back of my mind that once the fic goes on for long enough people will start to see its flaws or get bored. That's true for some, but I keep seeing a lot of the same names again and again and I am grateful to you guys so much. That was also one of the reasons I wanted to do the one shot. I just want to keep giving you guys more content that you'll enjoy.
