#there's a lot of misinformation out there but hopefully this helps
Text
SO WHAT'S THE REAL DEAL WITH ISRAEL? A history of a nation, a people, and a whole lot of conflict.
There is a LOT of misinformation going around in relations to the history of Israel and Palestine. I’m going to do my best to provide you with a comprehensive overview of this land and what’s going on.
Is it going to be perfect? No. But it’s going to be a lot better than the crap I came across today of an infograph that was filled with wrong information set to fuel the desire that people seem to have to ‘be on the right side’ of a war.
This is going to be LONG. But I’m going to try to make it interesting. I hope that at least one person that enjoys history gets something out of this. And please, feel free to ask questions!
And I do mean questions and not just hate screaming out ‘facts’ that you read once from someone with no sources on a badly photoshopped image of two women talking about how Israel isn’t a real place.
I’m not here to spread hate. I’m here to give you the facts so that hopefully things can be understood a little better and maybe we can start choosing to help and not simply fuel the fire of hate.
I’m going to use a lot of Wiki links because I would like to encourage people to go read the articles and do a little wiki deep dive for themselves. It’s fascinating, and hey, you might learn a few random cool things on the way.  I'd also encourage further reading if you are really interested or have questions. Wiki can only get you so far.
I’m also going to avoid talking about religious history in depth and simply stick to the people.
SO! Let’s get into it! Let's actually LEARN something for once!
We start with 14 tribes in the Bronze age 1175-900 BCE
We get into some sketchy history that dates back to King David. Early records are rough because of all the war and destruction from back then...also that it was 1175-900 BCE and record keeping was often difficult at best when it wasn't being burned down.
Essentially, the 14 tribes did what everyone did back then (and arguably still do) and they fought. A lot.
King David (1005 BCE - 968 BCE) is credited as the one who gathered up a group of people that had been fighting with another group of people and kicking the ever loving shit out of these people with slingshots (a standard weapon used by shepherds to fight off thieves and LIONS) and the use of a nice newly created metal called Iron (welcome to the Iron Age!)
He got mythicised a bit and the whole David vs Goliath became the story. It's where record keeping got a bit off... But there is proof of this man existing.
After the war, he united the split up tribes and became King of Judah and created the capital of Jerusalem ((hey look! They got their name because they were from Judah. They were the Judes. The Jews. The Jewish People. See how language evolves over time?).
The next king, one you may have heard of, was King Solomon (968BCE-928BCE). He is credited as being in charge of the building of the first Temple.
The first temple was an incredibly sacred place and where a lot of the things that defined and made the Jewish culture were kept.
After he died, there was no clear succession line and the kingdom split into two. The Kingdom of Israel in the north and the Kingdom of Judah in the south.
Tumblr media
Let's head on over to Wiki and see what they have to say about this piece of land.
"The earliest known reference to "Israel" as a people or tribal confederation is in the Merneptah Stele, an inscription from ancient Egypt that dates to about 1208 BCE, but the people group may be older."
So yeah, we got Israel mentions that date back to 1208 BCE. Before the splitting of the religions and people.
But WAIT. What's that strip of land to the west called the Philistine states???
It isn't what you think it is.
The Philistines were a group of people who lived in Canaan during the Iron Age, roughly 1175 BCE.
They often had tiffs with their neighbors over land and identity, which often left their relations with Jerusalem not the best.
Now, during this time, many of the settlements throughout what is now Israel was sparsely populated and the original inhabitants (the Canaan people) were dwindling and fading out. It wasn't uncommon during this time to come across completely abandoned settlements and ruins.
Most of the population was centered around Jerusalem.
You see, back in the late Bronze age, Egypt called all the shots. Take a look at the map down below. Look at all that Egypt territory!
Tumblr media
(keep an eye on that purple bit. It’s about to get important).
Egypt had final authority on all land disputes in this area. They considered the whole area to be a part of their domain. Their records were a little....outdated. They still listed everything as being run by the Canaanites! In fact, it wasn't uncommon for the lingering Canaanites to run to Egypt any time they had issues with the other tribes and demand that it be settled in their courts.  When we start to see mention of Israel in Egyptian records, it is referring to a people (think ethnicity) and NOT a state! And the Egyptians were starting to see them as a problem.
So what happened to the Canaanites? They got absorbed by the tribes that were taking over the land: Philistines, Phoenicians (Hey, I know that word from middle school history!), and the Israelites.
In 539 BCE, a little nation called Neo-Assyrian Empire took the northern part of Israel. Then they slowly expanded into the Assyrian Empire.
Tumblr media
Wait a moment. Zoom in. Enhance. Look at Jerusalem hanging out all alone over there as an unconquered little square surrounded by orange.
You see, Jerusalem was built as a fortress. A fully walled in city surrounded by unforgiving hill country, and land that worked in their favor.
And then, Babylon happened. They were having a pretty good run and getting a pretty good reputation as being a HUGE thorn in the side of the rising empires.
You see that bright purple bit on the other map up there? Yeah, it’s about to get a LOT bigger.
Tumblr media
(This is a VERY simplified map. Because this is early Neo-Babylon and it absolutely expanded further than this over time. )
They expanded around 911-505 BCE and wiped the Philistine people out. POOF. GONE. These people most likely were killed off and taken as slaves by Babylon and then assimilated into the Babylonian people.
What's interesting is that the Hebrew Bible (which is a record of the Jewish People, their history, and their story of survival as well as laws) is the primary source of the mention of the Philistines due to the conflict with them. (It’s also mentioned in the Quran.)
So what happened?
In-fighting. Lots and lots of in-fighting. But that's over simplifying it. If you are Jewish, you know what I'm talking about (this is why there is a rule about how "A Jew is a Jew is a Jew". Division is what leads to weakening of a people and leads to what happens next). The fracturing of the kingdom and disputes over rulers and laws caused them to divide their loyalties and left them open to bad things. Very bad things.
Remember Babylon? And how they wiped out the Philistines?
They didn't exactly avoid Israel on their voyage to wipe out the Philistines.
720 BCE, The Kingdom of Israel fell to the newly forming Babylonian Empire.
King Nebuchadnezzar II grew tired of Jewish revolts against the new empire (see the unconquerable city of Jerusalem) and well...
They attacked Jerusalem. This is called "The Fall of the 1st Temple" in Jewish history (589–586 BCE).
Jerusalem fell and the Jewish People were exiled (taken as slaves) to Babylon. This is recorded history!
It was during this that the Israelite religion really started to form and come together.
You see, when the temple was wiped out, it was a blatant attempt to destroy not just a people, but a record of a people and erase them and all mentions of them from the face of the earth (See the Philistine people who pretty much only exist because of a few Jewish records about their disputes).
But the people retained their stories in exile and really got together and formed the corner stone for the way the world's first Monotheistic religion worked: Judaism. (People of Judah. Get it? It's based on a people from a place!)
The exile lasted for a long....long time. Exile not just as slaves, but with strict laws that forbid the Jewish people from setting foot in their old land.
What happened next? King Cyrus! (At this point, Persia existed 550 BCE).
Tumblr media
I'm not going to get into the history of Persia (though it is FASCINATING and I recommend you look at it if you want to know the history of the middle east.)
Now good king Cyrus told the Jews that they were all free to go in 538 BCE. So naturally the Jewish people packed up and made a run for Judah.
This was called "The Return to Zion".
What does that mean?
"Zion is a placename in the Hebrew Bible, often used as a synonym for Jerusalem as well as for the Land of Israel as a whole."
So that’s where that word originated from!
OH. You know what else is called Zion? Mount Zion. A mountain located to the south... It has SIGNIFICANT biblical meaning, as well as the location of strongholds and other things. Look it up.
Tumblr media
So, the Jews were allowed to return to Judah, but it still fell under Persian rule. They were just considered a 'Self-governing Jewish Province".
Some returned. Some stayed. They'd lived in Babylon so long that they figured they had made a home there. I’m also willing to bet that there was reluctance to leave due to 1. The great distance they had to travel (like some sort of…exodus?) and 2. Fear of it being a trick and getting captured again. Hmmmm…. Sounds like a familiar story?
You may be asking yourself about Egypt right about now. What's this exodus and ten commandment thing and the plagues and all that fun business I heard about in the bible/torah/Quran. (Hi Moses! in Hebrew his name is Moshe. In the Quran it's Musa! But in Muslim, it's a different story and not exactly the familiar one against Pharaoh!)
Well, I'm not going to get too deeply into the religious stories for a lot of reasons, but a lot of the original Bible (old testament)/Torah was based off of stories told while the Jewish people were in exile in Babylon! They told these stories as a way to keep their faith, traditions, and cultural identities alive while being forced to assimilate. (The story of Noah and the flood mimics a Babylonian flood myth: Gilgamesh Flood! It's a fascinating read).
But that isn't to say that Judea didn't have complicated and often nasty relations with Egypt.
But, as the Jewish people slowly started to return to Judah, a more distinctive Jewish identity, culture, and religion started to form.
And it was at this time that the Second temple was built.
This is where things are going to start getting complicated.
Second temple period! (520 BCE-70 CE)
Because of what happened in Babylon, it became more important than ever to revise how they did things.
The second temple became a bigger deal and the way the city was run changed.
Hey look, Persia has a new king! And he's not liking what he's seeing in Judea. These guys are starting to get a little too big for their britches.
BUT WAIT! Look over there! It's Alexander the Great! And he's conquered Phoenicia and Gaza!
The Greek Syrian empire is starting to spread out. But there's a small truce with Judea. They’ll protect them from Persia and the Jews can keep doing their thing as long as they aren't a problem.
However, the Seleucid Empire is starting to push into Judea and take control. The Seleucid empire was a Greek power during the Hellenistic period (312 BCE) founded by the Macedonian Empire...Ruled by Alexander the Great. And they are big into worshiping other gods and forcing people to worship their gods and rulers. This is a big no no for the Jewish people and kingdom of Judea.
They start to send envoys to Greek trying to get the rulers there to listen to them. It’s not long before their envoys start coming back with bad news….and then stop coming back.
The Jewish people have seen this before.
And guess what? Jerusalem has become a problem. They aren't liking all the Hellenistic influence happening in Judea or the fact that the empire is starting to put a stranglehold on them.
Alright, all my Jewish people? It's time to revolt with the Maccabees! (167-140 BCE) Jerusalem was under siege and the walls are breached! The city is taken and the temple has been captured by the enemy.
Remember about the hostile countryside I mentioned earlier?
Time for some Guerrilla warfare! The Maccabees retake the city and spend 8 days fixing up the temple after it was desecrated and all they got is just a little oil that stretches out way longer than it should have lasted (Hanukkah cliff note story version).
But, there are other powers that are threatening them. Egypt has fallen and the Seleucid Empire is pretty pissed at them.
We get revolt after revolt. Judea wants the Greeks gone and Rome is the power to do it.
140 BCE - 63 BCE. The Hasmonean dynasty takes control of Judea. They expand outward.
The Hasmonean dynasty was a ruling dynasty of Judea that is WAY more complicated than I'm willing to get into because I barely understand it. But here it is if anyone wants to take a crack at it.
Basically, with the Seleucid Empire falling apart, Judea gained autonomy and expanded into neighboring regions (Perea, Samaria, Idumea, Galilee, and Iturea).
The Roman Republic stepped in at some point and it became a "client state" of Rome.
Tumblr media
Now, those of you that know your Greek/Roman history know that some big power changes are starting to happen.
Enter King Herod (37 BCE) (And all the Christians in the room say BOOO.)
Now SOME of you may be paying attention to the dates. We stopped going down and started going back up.
All the Christian’s here know what that means. A certain Jewish man has been born, caused problems for the Romans, and then was killed by the Romans for causing problems.
We now have the birth of Christianity. At this point it’s just seen as a division of Judaism and not a real separate entity.
We got Julius Caesar and Pompey and Mark Antony and Augustus happening over there in Rome and Judea is doing its best to stay alive and independent. They need protection from the other places that are trying to take them out and they know Rome is the key. So they make deals with one ruler only for that ruler to be killed and replaced by other rulers. It's getting hard for them to keep up.
6 CE Rome is their ally. 44 CE Rome sends someone to preside over them and Judea is considered a "Minor province."
Powers are changing hands so fast that no one knows who is in charge anymore.
The Hasmonean Kingdom eventually falls, but the Jewish desire for independence continues. Only now, they are at war with Rome.
This whole time period is a cluster of problems and it’s honestly hard to keep up with who was allies and in charge and ruling and expanding and fighting. Just know that Caesar wasn’t the only one getting knifed in the back and by the time a face was stamped on a coin there was a new face in charge. It was rough.
The important thing to know is that in the year 70 CE, Rome besieged Jerusalem.
Emperor Titus was done with the Jewish issue.
They held out as long as they could. And then the walls fell.
The city was burned and the temple was looted and burned. The majority of the population that wasn't killed in the fighting was outright massacred and the rest were taken as slaves.
The Jews that managed to make it out of the city ran for the countryside and hillside. Many were hunted down and killed by waiting soldiers. The Jewish population was sold and scattered across the roman empire.
The loot taken from the temple was paraded through Rome with the slaves. They even made a monument for it!
Tumblr media
Arch of Titus, which still stands in Rome today. You can see them carrying the holy Menorah through the streets.
There is plenty of Archeological evidence that supports what happened at the destruction of Jerusalem.
Massive stone collapses from the Temple Mount's walls were discovered laying over the Herodian street that runs along the Western Wall.
It's theorized that 1.1 Million people, the majority of the Jewish people, were killed during the siege.
I can't convey enough just how big this event was.
All Jewish people were forbidden from setting foot in Judea.
We now come to 73 CE, Christianity is considered its own distinct religion.
So what happened to the land?
All the Jews were gone. Banished, enslaved, or dead. So who got the land?
Well... Firstly, the city of Jerusalem was gone. When Rome wanted something gone, they made it gone.
There was rubble and not much else.
Know what else they did? The forest was burned down. The land was razed to a point where even today, it is still struggling to recover.
Jewish areas around Jerusalem were systematically destroyed one by one. There were still uprisings here and there, but they were quickly put down.
The Roman emperor Hadrian decided that he'd had enough of revolts and set out to destroy Judea once and for all. And while he did kick it in the teeth, he never succeeded in destroying the people. (They got real good at surviving and real stubborn about not getting eradicated). Small Jewish areas did survive in various outlier areas and small farming places that were otherwise overlooked. But life was certainly not made easy for them.
Judaea was changed to Syria Palaestina.
Sound familiar? Two empires that were enemies to the Jewish people. Remember when I said the Greek records were really out of date and still listed the Canaanites as in charge of the area? Well… They also still called the area Palestina.   You see, Hadrian got the name "Palaestina" from Herodotus' Histories from nearly 500 years before. But Herodotus only called the strip of land along the coast "Palaistine" after the Philistines. He wasn't referring to all of Judaea. And the reason Herodotus called that strip of coastline "Palaistine" was because the Philistines were Mycenaean Greeks, so he was recognizing a (long since dead) former settlement of Greeks. (When Rome wants you gone, they want you GONE and to suffer).
Rome built a colony on the ruins of Jerusalem, Aelia Capitolina. Eventually, former Judea became a Christian pilgrimage and was settled by Christians. The land became known as Palestine.
Not what you were expecting, huh? Bet you didn’t think the Christians would get involved in this Jewish vs Muslim issue.
So 900 BCE to 70 CE, it belonged to the Jewish people (with the brief exception to the period of exile to Babylon).
Then the Christians took over from Rome when Christianity took over and mass conversions started to sweep the world.
Eventually, the population became a mixed bag of Romans and migrants from nearby provinces.
361-363 CE - The Roman Emperor says the Jewish people can return to Jerusalem to rebuild the temple. In fact, he encourages it! He’s excited about it and starts to fund it and gathers up all the leaders, who are confused but cautiously optimistic.
The Emperor is assassinated before anything gets underway and the Jewish people are banished from the holy land again.
438 CE - Jews are now allowed to visit the Temple site. Note how it's visit, not live. A few times a year they are let into the city to visit where the Temple once stood so they can pray, then they are forced to leave again.
Oops! Back up a it! What’s happening over there during all this? It’s the 7th Century and Islam has now become a major religion! Any Jews hanging out in the Arabian Peninsula? Convert or get out. They’re going to keep their eye on what’s been happening with Rome, the Jews, and the Christians in regards to ‘Palestine’.
After all, Islam is a cousin to Judaism and they do share similarities to the holy sites.
And there have been MANY wars over the holy sites. Sieges, betrayals, false alliances, and an overall repeated attempt to eradicate and massacre people over the land.
Now, we all know the Roman Empire eventually fell. But the Jewish people? Still banished. They became the Diaspora. Attempting to settle in place after place until they are either massacred, converted, or kicked out. They have no home. Just a place to sit for a bit until the next massacre forces them to flee.
That's not even getting into the Crusades of the Christians against Islam in Palestine 1095-1291!!
So... Skipping over a LOT of history and massacres and terrible things....
Oh boy oh boy. I'm going to skip a LOT. Because the crusades are a mess of WTFery and I'm not writing a thesis here (right?).
But... 1917, enter Britain. Because of course Britain has to get involved at some point. You wouldn't be telling a world history tragedy story without Britain somehow getting involved.
They take control of Palestine from the Turks. Basically, WWI just ended and the Ottoman Empire lost big time. Their punishment? Britain now rules their land (I’ll get to that in a bit).
A decree is issued establishing Palestine as a national home for Jewish People, so long as nothing is done to cause prejudice or remove the civil rights or religious rights of the existing people that live there (Non-Jewish communities).
Many Jewish people interpret this to mean that ALL of Palestine is now a Jewish State.
1921: Britain changes their mind. All of Palestine east of the Jordan River is closed to Jewish settlement, but not to Arab settlement.
Oh boy.
1923: Britain says Arabs can immigrate but NOT Jewish people to Syria and Lebanon.
What? What are you doing Britain?
Remember that Western Wall rubble that was found in Jerusalem? The last remains of the Temple? By 1929: Muslims and Jews have been fighting over that wall for ages. Riots break out in Palestine and Jewish people are massacred.
Annnnnnd that takes us to 1933 when Hitler rises to power. Jewish people everywhere attempt to start to emigrate and flee to what they hope are safe countries.
1939: British government limits Jewish immigrants to 10,000 a year. Jewish people are trapped and the Holocaust catches up.
1945-1948: Post Holocaust refugees try to find the only place that they may call home: Palestine. The British government detains them and prevents their entry.
1946-1948: Things start to get violent in Palestine and British rule is unsure if they want Jews there or not.
1947: the UN approves the creation of the Jewish State and an Arab State in British ruled Palestine.
1948: Israel declares independence as a Jewish State and opens up to all Jewish people trying to find a safe place to live after the Holocaust. Essentially, it becomes a refugee state and if you are Jewish in any manner of the word, you are now a citizen and have a country to escape to when the massacres happen.
A Jewish Exodus from Arab and Muslim lands results as they flee or are expelled.
Egypt invades and Israel holds fast, expanding its borders as a result.
Egypt continues to attack and threaten Israel until the Six Day War in 1967 when Israel captured the West Bank
(Pictured here)
Tumblr media
The West Bank is considered the heart of Palestinians. This is known as the Gaza Strip.
Many Israelis see this area as their ancestral Homeland. Many Israeli settlements are starting to push into this area in a ruthless attempt to take it back. I DO say ruthless because they have been using violence against those living there and farming there.
There is international law that states that this area is off limits to Israelis.
"1890: The term "Zionism" is coined by an Austrian Jewish publicist Nathan Birnbaum in his journal "Self Emancipation" and is defined as the National movement for the return of the Jewish people to their homeland and the resumption of Jewish Sovereignty in the Land of Israel. "
Now, the term Zionism has taken on different roles and meanings over the years. I mentioned above what the word means and comes from. But it was later claimed by right wing Israelis who want the Arab nations out of Israel. It was later taken back again to being used as a simple declaration of nationalism for the right for Jews to have a place to call their own.
It's...complicated. I think Zionism can only really be defined by those who claim they are Zionists. Which ideology they follow may vary and much like any notion of nationalism, there are problems and dangers.
Is it wrong to be a Zionist? Depends. But the answer is not a straightforward yes or no.
The Jewish people deserve to exist in a state. But so do the Palestinians.
Let's talk about Palestine!
Historically, you got nothing until Judea is destroyed and the people are taken as slaves and killed in 70 CE.
Then you have a bunch of Christians wandering around it declaring all the historical sites to be theirs. Which, since Christianity comes from Judaism, they happen to share a lot of the same spiritual and historical sites.
But so does Islam.
There are repeated revolts, wars, disputes, and claims to the area by MANY different factions.
Many times the Jewish people attempted to retake the area only to be put down again and again.
In the late 6th Century, Islam was founded. They conquered Palestine in 636. Unlike previous rulers, they allowed Jews and Christians the freedom to practice their religion in peace.... but they had to pay a special tax and be submissive to Muslims. But, they did lift the centuries long ban on Jews being banished from Jerusalem.
Guess who wasn't a fan of all this?
Time for Crusades to 'liberate' Jerusalem from the Muslims.
European Christians campaigned against Muslims to reconquer the 'Holy Land' of Palestine.
Hey look! The Ottomon Empire (1466 CE) decided to show up!
Tumblr media
As I mentioned above, the Ottoman Empire had sided with the Germans and lost. They were driven from Palestine and British rule took over.
Remember how I mentioned that the British government declared Palestine to be a Jewish State in 1916? Well it turns out that just one year earlier, in 1915, it had been declared an Arab State in which the UK agreed to recognize Arab independence. BOTH declarations were seen as giving full control to either the Jewish People or the Arabs.
Good job Britain. Way to do what you always do and cock it up.
Here’s the biggest problem with saying that you side fully with Palestine. Internationally recognized terrorists political movement of: Hamas.
Hamas is an Acronym that translates to 'Islamic Resistance Movement'.
It's a political military movement that governs parts of the Gaza Strip.
They have taken charge and governed the Gaza Strip since 2006 and have periodically attacked Israel. They promote Palestinian Nationalism in a strictly Islamic context.
In fact, they propose that Israel NOT be recognized as a state and that a strictly Palestinian State be formed.
All the truces they offer to Israel over the years? Incredibly Antisemitic. They have carried out numerous terrorist attacks against the citizens of Israel and continue to 'advocate' for the return of Palestine without Jews.
They tend to be the 'dominant political force' in Palestine because of their anti-israel stance. They pretend to want a two state solution, but will repeatedly reject talks and demand "From the River to the Sea". Their end goal is to remove ALL of Israel and return the entire region to Palestine, thus making it an Islamic State.
It’s important to know that this is a radical group that unfortunately has a lot of control and uses its own people to terrorize and hide behind in an effort to bring about fear and hate and death. The actual Palestinian people do not deserve that.
It’s also important to know that the Israeli people do not all support their own government or leaders who have decided to take up an extremist approach to attempting to eradicate the terrorist movement.
MANY Israeli and Palestinian people believe in trying to find a negotiation that will benefit both sides and share a land that in a long lengthy way does represent three major religions.
It is important to know what Charities are supporting. Where the money is going, and who is only furthering violence on both sides.
It’s also important to know your history.
When I was little, If you said someone was Jewish, I imagined a white European man. Why is that the common image of a Jewish person? How is it possible to be a colonizer if your people come from that country in the first place?
So I'm going to ask you a question, and I REALLY want you to think about this.
If someone owns land and comes from a land, they are forcibly removed from the land for a LONG amount of time, someone else comes in and makes a home of this land and lives there for a long time, and then the first people want that land back.... Do they become colonizers? Are they wrong? Do they not deserve their land back?
If you think the answer is yes, you need to go have a conversation with the Native Americans.
BUT, as we all know... What do you do about the people that currently own and live on that land that was stolen from the first people? Maybe you didn't do the stealing, but you acquired stolen property and if you give it back then now you have nowhere else to go.... What sort of conversation needs to happen now? How do you solve this problem?
If you made it to the end, I thank you so much for taking the time to be curious about history and how it impacts current events. If you have questions, please let me know.

Greetings all,
To say that research and study are the backbone of theistic Satanism is probably the biggest understatement of the century, though it can be tricky to know where to start. Most of us in this day and age will start our research online, learning the history of the practice, any active groups, how to avoid cults, and so forth, and while this is a wonderful way to start the sad truth is that it can lead to the spread of a lot of dangerous misinformation regarding practices and rituals. The uneducated leading the uneducated. This is the reason I created this page, to spread actual study and knowledge with those of you who look to walk the cinder laden path to Hell, and to hopefully help you recognize the difference between those who share information for the sake of seeming smart, and those who actually wish to educate like myself.
I have compiled a list of books, all of which are available on amazon, that are a good groundwork for those of us that are actually looking to learn. I would like to add that this list will not include the bible, though it should also be considered even if just for the story of the fall and the first sin. To attempt to distance Satan’s origins from biblical literature is truly incredibly disrespectful, it is to negate the sacrifices that he made to give you the opportunities that you have now. To give you the freewill you have now. I speak not from opinion, or from the nonsensical ramblings of teenagers, but from fact when I say that Satan and Lucifer are one being. It is in the story of the fall and should be recognized if you ever want to be successful on this path.
Admittedly, most of these books are by Reverend Cain (Rev. Cain for short) who is a demonologist and theistic Satanist who has made it his life’s goal to spread the word of Lord Satan and to attempt to right the wrongs that have been done to our community by the uneducated masses. I have great admiration for Reverend Cain and his work, and as far as I am concerned, I believe him to be one of the only writers out there who have any actual qualifications to be spreading knowledge on this subject. Between his religious background, aiming to attend seminary school in the attempt to become an exorcist, and the palpable love and energy that he brings to his writings it is no wonder that his works would be as good as they are.
The first book on my list will forever and always be Rev Cain’s ‘The Infernal Gospel’, Not only is it greatly informative about things like the five Infernal Tenets, but it contains scriptures, information about celebrations and holidays, and so so much more. This should be your first book, if you choose to do your due diligence and study. It can be found here: https://a.co/d/0uFGGVw
The second book on this list, and ideally the second you should consider reading is Rev. Cain’s ‘The Satanic Philosopher’. This book is a deep dive into the five infernal tenets and how they can be applied to life and your practice. It also contains some insight from Reverend Cain detailing his personal experiences. It can be found here: https://a.co/d/8De8HZB
The third book on my list is surprisingly not by Reverend Cain, it is ‘The Lesser Key of Solomon’. The specific copy I will be linking is the one released by Aleister Crowley and S. L. MacGregor Mathers, though they are not the original authors. ‘The Lesser Key of Solomon’ is a grimoire on demonology that was anonymously compiled in the 17th century though the information inside is believed to be a couple centuries older. This one is a difficult read, it is translated from its original text and written as it would have been written then so you can imagine the strain that it has on the modern reader. For this reason I do think that this one, while it should be attempted, can be considered optional, especially when there are easier reads with the same information readily available. If you dare to attempt it, it can be found here: https://a.co/d/bKyv9Gm
The fourth book on this list is actually the “easier read” that I mentioned before, this is Rev. Cain’s ‘Goetia Devils’. The most important information in the ‘Lesser Key of Solomon’ is specifically the ‘Ars Goetia’, a compilation of 72 devils and their abilities, this information is invaluable to any Satanist who wishes to maintain their favor and status among the hierarchy of the Goetia. Reverend Cain takes his iteration one step further, as he also compiles summoning elements for each devil, giving the Satanist a great idea of what they can use for offerings and rituals. It can be found here: https://a.co/d/gLAKZgr
The fifth and final book on this list is another optional one but I thought I would include it for those like me who sometimes struggle to find their words in prayer. Rev. Cain’s ‘The Goetia Hymns’ is a book of prayers and hymns that a Satanist can use to give praise, ask for specific blessings, and otherwise commune with the denizens of Hell. It can be found here: https://a.co/d/8aoB3fF
I hope that this list is useful to all of you who are struggling for information, thankfully, most if not all of these books are available in digital formats for those of you who have to hide yourselves for safety reasons. I am fortunate enough to have been able to distance myself from those who would wish to do me harm over my religious beliefs, and while I hope the same for you I understand that that may not always be the case. I’d also like to look into setting up an outreach program for those of you who want to be able to get these books and continue your study but truly cannot afford to.
May Lord Satan’s light guide you even in the darkest of times.
Ave Satanas!

Something that really angers me is all these (mostly young) TikTokers or those on Twitter (or on here) trying to claim Elvis was a "p*do" or a "groomer" or whatever else because of his relationship to Cilla and some other girls in his life like Dixie Locke (especially since that godawful Coppola movie came out). These are the facts:
While it IS true that he did "date" some teenage girls--Dixie Locke, Sandy Martindale, Arlene Cogan, Frances Forbes, and Reeca Smith to name a few, ALL of them have insisted to this day that nothing sexual happened between him and them at that age; the most they ever did was kiss. They have all maintained he was a perfect gentleman towards them, and was extremely respectful; he never made them feel uncomfortable in any way. Even Priscilla has maintained to this day that there was no sexual activity between her and him until after they married, and there was not even any heavy petting until after she moved to Graceland permanently when she was 18, and thus an adult. (He may have also slept with Wanda Jackson when she was 17 and he was 19 or 20, but even if this did happen, she was a few months away from turning 18, and whatever happened was clearly consensual, so there you go.)
Elvis grew up during the 40s-70s. Simply put, times were different then, and you were expected to grow up fast (especially in the South); it was common for older men to date teen girls and for girls to marry young. Several even dropped out of high school to get married; I knew kids whose grandparents married at 15, 16 or 17. You cannot apply 2024 morals and standards to someone who lived more than 50 years ago. It just doesn't work.
If anything, these teen girls were the outliers; all the serious girlfriends Elvis had (with the exception of Cilla) were in their twenties or older, such as Linda Thompson, Ginger Alden, Anita Wood, and Joyce Bova.
Anyway, sorry for the rant; I just needed to get this off my chest and hopefully set the record straight. It just annoys me when this misinformation and several half-truths keep getting spread around. Let's hope this gets spread around instead. Maybe it'll finally help stop the haters in their tracks.
I'm glad that you're getting it off your chest :)
It's just that a lot of people don't take the time to do research and get the information(the right information) they're just bored, they have nothing better to do.

AHA. Take that tired brain. Have figured out a way to support Palestine despite it all. Email templates. Have not figured out how to email British BBC to stop Eurovision support but did figure out how to email Bailey's
If you also have a wonky brain which doesn't let you do things: here is a document with email templates. Hopefully it helps.
Many ways to support Palestine even if you don't understand. It's okay if you can't understand. You're not useless, and despair does nothing. Saying this because I almost fell into trap of "can't remember can't learn what's the point what can I do?"
It's easy to reblog misinformation though so be careful. You are not obligated to reblog things you don't understand even if they're important. It's alright. Misinformation spreads very quickly because of attitudes like that. You don't have to reblog this if you don't want to and this applies to all other things.
Recommend focusing on tangible ways to help because it's a lot harder to spread misinformation that way. That's what my focus is on currently because I don't think I'll be very good at anything else. E.G:
Esims help people in Gaza communicate and share their situation so they're not ignored. This website has clear instructions on what to do. Have donated three times. Hope the esims were useful.
Another way to help. Daily click on arab.org turns ad revenue into donations for UNWRA, a charity that helps Palestine.
Ask for advice and more details under the cut.
Reblogging on main account because it has more reach. Would appreciate advice helping me figure out how to email local broadcaster. Sorry if this is long/rambling don't know how to fix it.
The link to Bailey's is at the bottom of the email list. It took me a minute to figure out the subject line. I just put Eurovision. Hopefully that's clear enough.
Would greatly appreciated support with the other email parts. It says to contact local broadcaster - does that mean it's a bad idea to message the other places? Can't figure out how to send the UK email.
Wish I could give clearer instructions to actually help people in fellow brainweird situations do things. I hate being tired like this all the time. Could someone please give clear advice on what can be done if you have a brain that doesn't work well or remember much? Both for me and other people. Would be greatly useful and appreciated.
For context: I am too tired to play Minecraft. It is too difficult. Yes even with keepinventory. Please keep advice in mind to that. (As in - please please keep simple and actionable) (struggling to explain other than) (can't understand/comprehend basic videogames at the moment please give advice to that level) (really want to help but won't be able to if the advice isn't to that level) (does that make sense?)

Hi! I've been doing a ton of research on snakes and really want to get one. But today I read an article from PETA basically saying do not get a pet snake under any circumstances for a bunch of different reasons (https://www.peta.org/living/animal-companions/snakes-never-pets/). Thoughts?
Link for everyone to the artcile - be warned that this is PETA, though, so definitely read with caution and your critical thinking glasses. Article contains many images of animal suffering.
So, like with many other things that PETA put out, most of this list is absolute malarkey. I totally get that it sounds really compelling if you're still new to the reptile-keeping scene, though! So I'm going to go through this list point by point, and hopefully that'll help. :)
"The pet trade is abysmal."
Yeah, it is. Fortunately, you can (and should!) avoid contributing to reptile breeding mills by buying a snake from an ethical breeder. I never recommend buying your pet reptile from a chain pet store. Buying from a reputable breeder, though, means you'll be getting a healthy, well-started pet, and supporting a small business to boot! Check out my "buying a snake" tag for tips!
2. "No captive environment can compare to snakes' natural habitats."
This argument really hinges on the assumption that snake owners are tossing their pets into a barren glass box. That is not what good snake owners do. The point of a good snake enclosure is allow room and opportunity for natural behaviors, like climbing, burrowing, and exploring.
3. "Snakes aren't 'starter pets.'"
No, they're not. That's why I always advocate for a great deal of research before buying any reptile.
PETA also brings up a study that "75% of pet reptiles die within one year in captivity" - this study is heavily skewed by counting wild-caught lizards, which are notoriously fragile. If you buy a reptile from a reputable breeder and your husbandry is good, the chances of your pet dying within the first year are very small.
4. "Snakes have specific needs that are nearly impossible to meet in captivity."
Frankly, if you don't know that your snake will have highly specific temperature, humidity, and enrichment needs, you shouldn't be buying a snake. We know that it's possible to meet the needs of snakes because their captive lifespans average literal lifetimes over wild lifespans, and minimalist keeping isn't okay.
5. "Buying small animals to feed a snake supports the cruel pet trade, even if you adopt a snake."
I never recommend feeding your snake live rodents. Instead, feed your snake frozen/thawed rodents - they're bred for the purpose from non-pet lines, and are humanely euthanized before being sold.
6. "Having a snake doesn’t make you look edgy—just foolish."
This one kinda baffles me, to be honest. The people who buy a pet snake just to look "edgy" should not be buying snakes.
7. " Not only can snakes make you sick, you can also make them sick."
This point hinges on the risk of reptiles transmitting salmonella to humans, which you can easily avoid by taking common sense precautions. The snake health issues mentioned, like respiratory illness, are all associated with poor husbandry and are not an innate risk to captive snakes.
8. "Snakes have feelings."
We can't be sure how snakes experience the world. That said, though, when PETA argues here that minimalist keeping causes snakes pain, they're right. No snake should ever be kept in a barren enclosure - and, once again, people who keep them that way shouldn't have snakes.
9. " Snakes have rights."
I'm a strong believer in animal welfare, and that means animals should always be free from poor treatment. I don't believe that captive-bred pet snakes are suffering, though. There is just no evidence to support that.
Like a lot of PETA's stuff, this article heavily relies on misinformation and presenting bad situations from the chain store pet trade as the norm.
There can be many good reasons not to get a pet snake - maybe you aren't in a situation where you can find or afford necessities like a large enclosure, f/t food, or veterinary care. Maybe a snake just isn't the right pet for you! But snakes in captivity are most often perfectly ethical pets, and if you do your research before buying, you can ensure a pet snake will live a long, happy life.

Hazbin Hotel 1st Season Review
Ok so I've been sitting on this ask I got back when the series started airing for some time now.
Tumblr media
And I was struggling with how to answer it because as much as I personally love the show and had a lot of fun with it I understand that it isn't really for everyone.
But now that the series' first season has concluded I feel like it'd just be easier to give a review of all the negatives and positives that I saw in the series for anyone who is wondering if its worth getting into. I'd like to give a fair and honest overview of all the show's quirks as there is a lot of misinformation, bad faith criticism, and blind praise of this show going around. It can be overwhelming with so many strong opinions and I'd like to give people a more balanced and down to earth look at the show for what it is.
I'll start with spoiler free stuff and put all spoilery stuff below a cut in a reblog. Be warned, this is still gonna be very much based on my own opinions and very long, I just hope its less...intense than most reviews.
Overview
Tumblr media
For anyone who doesn't know, Hazbin Hotel is a new animated series on Amazon Prime Video created by Vivienne Medrano and A24 Studios. It's basic premise is that every year, sinners in Hell are killed by angels from Heaven in order to keep the population low. This devastates our main character, Charlie Morningstar, the daughter of Lilith and Lucifer and Princess of Hell.
So she decides to start a rehabilitation center called the Hazbin Hotel in hopes to allow sinners to redeem themselves, keeping the population in Hell low whilst allowing people to continue existing, and hopefully putting an end to the exterminations for good and saving her people. She does this with the help of her girlfriend Vaggie, a famous pornstar named Angel Dust who agrees to be her first guest, a very shady demon named Alastor, and more.
The show's pilot episode was first released on youtube in 2019 and has a sister-show called Helluva Boss that takes place in the same universe and began airing episodes on youtube while Hazbin was being shopped around to be picked up by a bigger studio.
I personally do not recommend this show at all to anyone under 18 due to its subject matter and depictions. However, the show is listed as 16+ for all but one episode which is 18+. Make of this what you will.
Now, onto the discussion.
Positive 1: Design
So a lot of people look at this show and are put off by its character designs and general look. But frankly I think it's very well designed and cohesive for what it is. Its designs are complex and gaudy but they're earnest in their presentation. It very much draws from Vivziepop's roots as a youtube animator who got big in the 2010's
All the designs are very out there and edgy and almost sparkle-dog-esque. And I think it's commitment to that style in favor of something that would draw in wider appeal makes the series feel more artistically genuine. Just look at Angel Dust and Alastor's designs for example. They ooze 2010's deviantart and I find it very charming.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also enjoy the balance and uniqueness of many of the designs, they're so fun to look at. And their level of detail makes them super fun to pick apart. The range of body types could definitely be improved (an unfortunate remnant of that 2010s style I was just praising) but there is still plenty of diversity in silhouette to differentiate the characters at a distance.
I also often see the criticism that there is far too much red used in the designs and frankly this criticism is so unfair. Within the context of the show its pretty obvious that red is just part of the design motif of hell.
I can see the issue ringing true in the pilot that the characters bleed into the backgrounds often because of this design choice but in the official show the background style is a lot more distinct from the characters and they don't really have this issue at all.
Here's a screengrab from the pilot that I find to be a particularly bad offender vs a screengrab from the official show including acvery red character on a very red background that I think highlights the difference a bit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's nothing wrong with a show having a very cohesive visual motif to tie all of its characters to one location. The heavenly characters in the show have their own color motif of bright pastels for instance. I think the designs are a highlight of this show and people should stop being so harsh and unfair in their assessment of them. They're so fun! Enjoy them!
Negative 1: Pacing
You've probably heard people mentioning this one and unfortunately I 100% agree with this criticism. The show is INCREDIBLY fast paced and it seriously impacts character development.
Now, I don't think the way people criticize this aspect of the show is very fair. Most people push the blame for it onto the creators and writers when in all actuality they're just doing the best they can with what they were given. 8 episodes is a very short runtime for a show of a this scale.
A story with this much worldbuilding, this many plot threads, and this number of important characters could NEVER be told properly in this amount of time. Even if they'd properly paced it it would've ended up awkwardly truncated with an unsatisfying finale. Frankly I think the writers did a very good job stretching what they had, but unfortunately the issues are still very present and impact the viewing experience.
This show desperately needed filler. They NEEDED low stakes plots and episodes. As is the story is very complete and I'm glad the short runtime didn't create any agregious plot holes but its still...lacking. The first season is meant to take place over six months of time and it really doesn't feel like it.
The lack of episodes means we don't get to see the natural progression of these characters and their relationships. Many characters have seemingly out of nowhere changes of heart. Even the best done plot lines still feel pretty cramped and rushed.
It's very sad and unfortunately is becoming increasingly commonplace for shows to have such short runtimes that they feel like extra long movies rather than feeling like a tv show. Hazbin Hotel feels like a very long musical pace-wise. And if you decide to watch it that way I think you might have a better time honestly. But its still sad to think of what could've been.
Positive 2: Music
Oh my fucking god the songs are so good. None of them are bad in my opinion. I have my favorites and least favorites of course but none of them sound bad or annoying which I can't say for 90% of musicals especially cartoon musicals.
Almost every song feels like its 100% necessary to express what the characters are thinking and feeling. Every single VA has a fantastic singing voice. Apparently one of the main writers of these songs is half of The Living Tombstone which is pretty apparent from the style of the songs. If you like their music you'll be in for such a treat here.
There are 2 songs per episode and I think its safe to say you'll enjoy the crap out of at least one of them. They make up for a lot of the short runtime with them too, being able to fit a whole lot of character growth and interaction into a shorter period. This show is definitely carried by its stellar soundtrack. I think it's its best trait for sure.
If you like musicals, you have something to gain from watching this show, I can guarantee that.
In the spoiler section I'm gonna rank all 16 songs and explain my reasons btw so look forward to that.
Negative 2: Editing
The editing of this show can be...questionable at times. Sometimes there will be very harsh unnecessary cuts and sometimes the camera moves all over the place when it really doesn't need to. It really feels like the editors got the raw animation files and were trying to clock in overtime by making unnecessary and bizarre editing choices all over the place.
It wasn't very jarring to me personally and I feel like most people will get used to it within a single episode but if you're unsure of how to feel about it I'd go watch the song Happy Day in Hell on youtube because it's probably the worst offender in the show and about as bad as the editing will get.
Positive 3: Characters
As sad as I am that the show has so little time to explore the characters they are VERY well established regardless. These characters have a lot of charisma and almost all of them have a completed arc within this season.
I've heard a lot of people claim that Charlie, the main character, doesn't get enough screentime or doesn't feel like a protagonist and I'm sorry but I can't see this as anything but bad faith criticism. Hazbin Hotel is an ensemble show with a very limited episode count, not every episode can have Charlie at the center. But she IS the center of the main plot and she is a very active protagonist with strong relationships to the other members of the ensemble. Her goals are tightly wound in with the central plot and themes and she makes the decisions that drive the story.
She very much fills her protagonist role well and I think this attempt at criticism is just a biproduct of the several years of development where occasionally we'd get bonus content for other characters and Charlie didn't get much. But it's pretty clear that that was cause her character IS the plot and Vivziepop didn't want to spoil the entire show before it even aired.
Beyond that I've seen people claim that all the queer characters are over-sexualized. Which is hilarious because as far as I can find there is only one canon straight character in the main cast and the rest are all queer. There is only one character that has an storyline focused around sex and that's Angel Dust...because he is a sex worker. The other characters occasionally make sex jokes but no other queer characters have sex as a focal point.
Overall, the characters definitely balance each other out in this story and they're a big draw for me. Even minor characters that only appear prominently in one episode are super charismatic and interesting. Hell, my favorite character in this show is one of these minor characters.
One thing I very much enjoy is how none of the characters ever seem to be dumbed down for the sake of the plot. The stakes remain high because all of these problems genuinely feel like there is no easy solution that the characters are just conveniently ignoring. All of the characters' choices feel like theyre in-character which is very impressive given the episode count.
Neutral 1: Dialogue/Jokes
So this is a topic I've seen a lot of people discuss specifically here on tumblr. The characters are very sweary and many of the jokes are very crass and explicit.
Personally I had no issue with this at all the jokes were fine to me and the swearing just felt like Hell's natural dialect to be honest. Plus I swear like a sailor irl so it was barely different to my normal. Very much a non-issue for me.
I could see how it could be off-putting to others though if it's something you're not used to. And I do find it to be a bit much in the sister-show Helluva Boss because it feels a lot less natural. (side-note, if y'all want me to make one of these for Helluva Boss let me know cause I have a LOT to say about that show). So honestly I think this is a matter of personal taste and I'd encourage people to still give the show a whirl if this is your main issue with it as its pretty minor.
Positive 4: World-building
I really enjoy the complex world in this show. A lot of its takes on the lore it's drawing from are actually pretty unique and nuanced, it's obvious the creator did a lot of research. Any lore that is changed was clearly done with the knowledge of its true origins. It really feels like Viv knew the rules well before she broke them with this.
This is one of those worlds where you can't help but imagine yourself in it, especially with it being the afterlife. It's no wonder the fandom is so dense with oc content, its very fun to imagine creative character designs when there's so few limits to what a character can look like.
And the world-building seriously elevates the story so well. This is one of the few times the short episode count actually helps the story I think, because there's still so much to explore and discover here. I like the delayed gratification of getting all the info about how hell and heaven function its nice to chew on theorize about. It's just a very appealing and interesting setting what can I say.
Neutral 2: Handling of Subject Matter
This has got to be one of the most divisive things about this show and I think this is the thing that most comes down to personal opinion.
There are a lot of criticisms against how this show handles incredibly serious subject matter. And frankly, as much as I don't have any issue with its portrayal of these things personally, its incredibly understandable why others take issue with it. I encourage everyone to give the show a fair shot and judge it in its entirety as a lot of these things really need context to be criticized fairly.
However I understand that, even if you agree with the way Hazbin hotel handles these subjects, you may still be incredibly uncomfortable or even triggered by the graphic depictions. So I'm going to take some time and list out every possible trigger that you will encounter in each episode to the best of my ability based on my recollection. Because even though Amazon does give warnings they are too vague for my tastes and I wanna make sure anyone who watches this show on my recommendation is going to be safe (Let me know if I missed anything and I will edit this to include it):
Episode 1: 16+

Episode 8: 16+

Stabbing
I believe that should be everything.
I highly encourage you to be cautious if you have PTSD or C-PTSD regarding sexual or physical abuse in particular for episode 4. The episode is quite graphic and realistic in its depiction. As someone who hasn't been through sexual abuse I cannot speak to the accuracy of its portrayal apart from the fact that it is very clearly not created to be tantalizing or glorifying.
I've been told many different opinions on how this episode portrays sexual abuse and whether it is accurate or respectful and it seems like the answer varies greatly person to person from being extremely comforting and relatable to being offensive and feeling gratuitous. In my opinion I think this means the show did a decent job and had good intentions, but it also means that this show and this episode in particular just aren't for everyone. Make of this what you will and stay safe.
Positive 5: Themes
The themes in this show are baked into its core. It manages to get its message across without feeling too clunky and the focus of the story never strays from that purpose.
Redemption is often a mixed bag in shows especially in cartoons. But I think Vivziepop and the rest of her crew do a good job showing the effort it takes to change and grow as a person in the short time they have.
I think the dedication to themes is a huge part of how genuine the story feels. It's earnest in its message and that gives the plot a soul.
If you want to watch a story about broken people lifting each other up this is the one.
Neutral 3: Vivziepop
So a lot of you have perhaps heard some not-so-great stuff about this show's creator.
From what I've gathered in my research almost all of the serious claims made about her are either proven to be false or big ol nothing-burgers. However, there might be legitimacy to some of her employees and coworkers' complaints about her company, Spindlehorse, which aren't great. And I personally dislike how she conducts herself on social media as the spokesperson for her creation.
In short, she doesn't seem to have much tact.
I think its a little ridiculous and overdramatic to avoid the show over it personally but if this just strikes a particular nerve with you there is always the option to pirate ig. It's fully up to you. Just make sure you do your research and don't go around shaming fans of the show or spreading misinformation about a very real person.
Conclusion
I'd personally give the show an 8/10. Its a fun time and clearly made with a lot of passion. I'd recommend it to everyone who's interested. Now I'lll start working on the spoiler bit of the review.
Let me know what y'all think! If anyone reading this has questions I'm happy to answer as well.

Some interesting differences between Greek and Roman myths (and other things) that I think would've been really cool to explore in HoO and ToA
Disclaimer: I am no scholar, and while I have tried my hardest to check my resources for accuracy, any sort of second-hand account of mythology has a chance of holding misinformation. I sadly do not have access to many primary sources, so this might not all be 100% accurate!! If you see something and you know it's wrong, pls let me know so I can fix it!
Anyways, onto the list! This is REALLY long, but the organization is gonna go like this.
Fact about the difference between Greek and Roman myths or worship.
Reason why I think it would be interesting to explore in the riordanverse.
and so on and so forth. This is really just for me to document ideas I've had, but hopefully y'all get something out of it too, read at your own risk, I suppose.
The Romans believed that after the Titanomachia, Saturn (The roman name for Kronos) fled to Italy and took refuge with it's king. Saturn eventually shared the throne with this king, and their kingdom was known to be joyous and peaceful. Romans actually worshiped Saturn bc of this, and he had a temple at the foot of Capitoline Hill.
Imagine if Percy arrived at Camp Jupiter, and one of the first things he sees is a temple to the titan he just spent 5 years trying to defeat. Like, I know he has no memories at this point, but I'm sure it would make him at least a bit uneasy. I think this would do a lot to sell the greek/roman schism in HoO, bc that whole plot point never really hit with me. We keep being told the Greeks and Romans hate each other almost instinctively, but other than Octavian, we aren't really shown it. Also it always seems like the Romans hate the Greeks and the Greeks are just kind of offended that the Romans hate them. Having actual tangible reasons for our main Greek character to feel uncomfortable around New Rome would a lot to make this actually feel like an equal issue.
2. In Greek mythology, Zeus was thought to be powerful, but not a supreme force. He was still beholden to the strings of fate. On the other hand, Jupiter was seen as the lord of life and death, having complete power and control over the cycle of life. He was more powerful than fate, and never came down from Olympus, as Zeus was known to do often.
Again, a HUGE discrepancy that I wish the books explored. This just kind of goes with the underdevelopment of Jason in HoO, but how cool would it be if Jason had this understanding of Jupiter. Like, yeah, in canon Jason points out that Jupiter is stern and distant, but it never gets to all-powerful controller of life levels. Having Jason see his father's distance as right and just would make him an incredible contrast to Percy, who just spent the last 5 books trying to get gods to be more open with their kids. It would add so much to Jason's arc about being torn between Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood. As a Roman and Praetor, Jason understands why his father never speaks with him, but as a kid, he wishes he could know the humanity of the Greek side of his father. (ofc in pjo Zeus sucks either way but Jason doesn't know that)
3.Juno was actually seen as much nicer and more matronly than Hera, and was said to watch over every woman from her birth until her death.
I just think this would do wonders for Hera's characterization in the riordanverse. Imagine if we got to see her actually help one of the girls on the Argo II as Juno, especially since she basically put EVERY SINGLE MALE CHARACTER on the Argo II personally, yet had nothing to do with he female characters??? Seriously, Hera was behind Leo, Frank, Jason, and Percy being a part of this quest, but as far as I can remember, she had nothing to do with Annabeth, Piper, or Hazel being there. What is up with that? It would've been so cool to see Juno watch over Hazel, or help Annabeth (Could lead to some awesome character development for both Hera and Annabeth), or even just give some advice to Piper. Seriously we were robbed.
4. This isn't really a difference, but there is actually a period in Rome where Apollo does not seem to have been worshiped at all, or at least not in any major capacity. One temple is noted to have been built for Apollo in 430 B.C.E., but we don't really see him again in any sort of public way until Augustus takes power hundreds of years later. Seeing as Apollo was one of, if not the most popular Greek deity, this is a rather large change. Of course, once Augustus brings him back to the limelight, worship of Apollo becomes hugely popular, with many emperors claiming his moniker to show their own divinity.
This could actually fill a big plot hole in the riordanverse. It makes no sense that Apollo has 6-7 Greek children as of the end of ToA, yet he has no roman kids at all? However, in this light we see Apollo as a god who never really connected with Rome, and was a bit of a late runner when it comes to Roman worship. If you look at it from a character standpoint, instead of a strictly historical or mythological view, it almost seems like Apollo was holding onto Greece. The Romans started taking Greek colonies in the 200's B.C.E, and have fully taken the area by 146 B.C.E.. In this time, and even before it, almost every Greek deity was co-opted into Roman worship. Apollo, however, stayed steadfastly Greek, until Augustus started to pray to him for victory in battle. (Fun fact: Augustus actually credited Apollo with his victory over Marc Anthony and Cleopatra in Actium) This whole thing makes it look like Apollo just didn't want to be Roman, or at least he didn't want to let go of Greece like the other gods were. And it seems like he didn't let go of Greece at all in the end, as there are very few notable differences between his Greek and Roman depictions. From this, I take two things. One, Apollo was probably never Roman, at least not in the way HoO depicts a god being Roman. This creates some interesting implications for how Apollo lived during Roman times, but that's a whole other thing. Two, because of this, Apollo might not be able to have a Roman demigod child. After all, the demigods at Camp Jupiter are classed as such for being born to specifically roman counterparts of gods. If Apollo has no such counterpart, he can't have the kids. Of course, this begs the question of Octavian, but I'll expand on that later.
5. When you look into it, the Roman god Diana is actually much closer to many characteristics of Hecate than she is the Greek portrayal of Artemis (though this is mainly because Artemis and Hecate were mixed together often, even in Greek times.) It is said that Diana has three forms: In the heavens she was Luna, the moon; on earth she was Diana, the goddess of the hunt; and in the underworld, she was Proserpine, a malevolent master of witchcraft.
Ok, ok I know this actually makes no sense in the context of HoO, but wouldn't it be so cool if Hazel worked with Diana instead of Hecate. I just think it would really expand the arc!! Seeing a different side of Artemis, one of the godesses we've probably saw the most of in the original series, would be so neat. Also, Diana as Proserpine having connections to both witchcraft and the underworld makes her a perfect fit. IDK IDK I just think it would be really cool. PLUS it would give Hazel and Frank a fun little parallel bc Frank would be inspired by Apollo while Hazel was trained by DIana. Vague sun and moon parallels my beloved.
6. The job of an Augur is actually much closer to the Greek's soothsayers than it is their oracles. While oracles are said to interpret the god's will, soothsayers and augurs see the future simply through simple acts of nature. The way in which augurs tell the future actually has a lot less to do with the gods than one might assume.
I just wish this fact was mentioned in HoO bc honestly it clears up so much for me. Also when it comes to Octavian, I think it makes more sense for him to be blessed by Apollo instead of descended from him (I know he says he's both in the book but shhh wait let me keep going for a sec) Soothsayers and Augurs were priests, directly picked by the gods to divine the future on their own. While oracles were basically the gods mouthpieces, Augurs would be allowed to divine their own interpretation of the future from what they saw in nature, all condoned by whatever god blessed them (probably Apollo). In this way, the whole "Apollo is turned mortal bc he supported Octavian" thing makes a lot more sense. In canon, we only get told through a throwaway line that Apollo was "totally swayed by Octavian's promises of power guys, trust me." It always just seemed so out of left field to me. If I were to take it in a new direction, I would lean much more into the fact that Octavian was an appointed priest of Apollo, who abused his supposed ability for prophecy to cause war. Apollo is now directly stated to be Octavian's willful benefactor, so of course he'd take the fall this. It would show Apollo's callousness. He doesn't care for Camp Jupiter as much he does Camp half-blood (see point 4) so he let the position of Augur become corrupt with little complaint. Also, if Octavian isn't Apollo's descendant, my whole "Apollo can't have a roman kid" theory is FOOLPROOF HAHAHAHAAHAHAHA
7. While both cultures had large religious festivals, Rome's were much more centralized and documented. This is mainly due to Rome being ruled by a single republic or emperor, as opposed to Greece's city-states.
This isn't changing anything in canon as much as wishing there was more of it. Man, I wish we could've seen more of the Roman festivals. We're always just told they happen, but I wanna know the specifics! These are huge religious events! Are the New Romans actually fully worshiping the gods these festivals celebrate? How do the Roman characters we have feel about the festivals? Does Jason miss them while on the Argo II? Do Hazel, Frank, and Jason try to put on a small celebration for the festivals that pass while they're sailing to Rome? Let these things be important dangit.
8. When the Greeks sculpted, they focused on the ideal form, with emphasis put on the athletic male figure. Because of this, the face of the figure was not specific to any individual, as it was not the focus. In contrast, the Romans put a heavy emphasis on the face. In Rome, you wanted your lineage to be known, so you had your face sculpted with intense detail. That way, sculptures of your face could be compared with sculptures of your forefathers, or your children.
Again, I wish we were shown more of a difference between Greeks and Romans than "Romans are strict and organized, Greeks like to have fun" They're two entirely different cultures!!! Imagine if we showed the Roman emphasis on lineage in someone other than Octavian. Have Jason be genuinely proud of the affluence being a son of Jupiter gives him, let that be a flaw of his, a point of contention on the Argo II. Show how family pride can be important in arcs like Frank's, where he learns how to accept the fact that he is Mars' son, and grow into that role. Put the emphasis of these arcs on the fact that they're struggling with the ROMAN idea of family lineage. Let being from New Rome be an real identity. I feel like the synopsis of this whole thing is that I wish the Romans had whole beliefs that were wildly different from the Greeks. They could value different things, interact with the gods in distinctly different ways. We always see the conflict of swords between the Greeks and Romans, but never the conflict of beliefs, and I think that kind of sucks. Also it makes NO SENSE THAT THE ROMANS HATE THE GREEKS ANYWAY! Ancient Romans fucking loved Ancient Greeks! They saw the Greeks as their ancestors, adapting all of their religion and art out of a genuine appreciation for the culture. If anyone should hate anyone, it should be the Greeks, bc the Greeks were the ones who GOT CONQUERED. But in HoO, all of the Greeks just seem mildly disgruntled by the idea of Romans. idk it doesn't make much sense to me.
If you got to the end, I hope you got something out of my rambles. I honestly still feel like I have more to say about this stuff, so if anyone has any questions or wants me to expand on anything lmk! If not tho, thank you for reading!

Today, I saw a tweet by a Thai Krist fan named June in which she thanked interfans for supporting Krist in spite of the language barrier and all the misinformation that surrounds him. June has been fan of Krist for a long time, and she's even shared a bunch of firsthand accounts in English of her experiences with Krist from early in his career. (They're very cute.)
Tumblr media
Dear all inter fans who love Krist, thanks for loving him although you might not be able to clearly understand what he said or fully convey your feelings to him due to the language barrier. Although with this big barrier, you are still with him, don't give up on him, don't believe in any fake rumors and be his strength. Thanks so much 💕💕 –@qu_upqn_np
A minor incident prompted her to tweet this out, but because of the language barrier, I didn't fully follow it. From what I understand (and please don't cite me as a source if you carry this information forward) a fan tweeted a customer complaint to Krist directly about a peeling graphic on a concert T-shirt she bought. Krist replied to her and asked her to write to the official merch account, presumably because neither he nor The General Public can help her with her problem and that kind of thing can make the quality of his merch look shoddy. According to a few Thai fans, some interfans used the auto-translate feature on his tweet, decided that the auto-translated English looked rude, and started attacking him for being rude to his fan. It got to the point where Thai fans and fan translators had to explain that he was, in fact, very polite to her. He used "khab" and "phi" to refer to her, but English doesn't use those parts of speech, so auto-translate omitted them.
This was before my fellow interfan friend messaged me to ask why she was seeing interfans say that Boun's fans were calling him a drunkard (???).
A couple of days ago, Boun happily took a selfie with an interfan after an event where he drank a bit, and now this is somehow something people want to crucify him for because fan benefits and selfie rules etc. etc. etc. (There's context to this but it's frankly such a non-issue I'm astonished we're even talking about it.) One person did call Boun a drunkard, but they're an anti account (I know, even Boun has antis, the world's surprises never cease). The only other references to drinking were interfans saying, "He was just drunk and happy (and that's why he was happy to take the selfie)."
The way nuanced information is often squished into bite-sized pieces is both wild and worrying.
And it must be maddening for Thai fans to share a space with people who click auto-translate on Thai tweets, draw completely off-the-mark conclusions from a rough approximation or completely false mistranslation of what was actually said, and then use that as justification to attack the actors they love in foreign languages. There's a rampant Attack First, Ask Questions Never culture online these days, and we've got to collectively agree to chill before throwing on-fire furniture at each other.
These are both obviously ridiculous incidents, but they both garnered a lot of conversation among Thai fans.
I figured I'd share them here because I think Tumblr sometimes gets secondhand information from Twitter, and I wanted to demonstrate how some of this stuff gets misinterpreted before it even leaves the platform. It's interesting to investigate how these things happen, and hopefully it helps prevent similar misunderstandings from happening in the future.
(Also, for what it's worth, I have a concert shirt made by Krist's fan club and it's very comfy and has survived numerous washes completely intact.)

stray kids with a dyslexic s/o
a/n: praying my research was enough for this, please let me know if any of these descriptions are harmful/rude/inaccurate :,)
warnings/genre: reader can be insecure about capabilities, fluff w angst if you squint, g/n reader, hopefully somewhat accurate portrayals of dyslexia, but please let me know if any of these are disrespectful in any way <3
Tumblr media
chan
-most accommodating towards your dyslexia, but like not in a patronizing way
-it’s just because most of what can be helpful is just second nature to him, like breaking down information into smaller pieces or writing large, reading things out loud like a dad at a grocery store, etc etc
-if you’re speech habits are affected by your dyslexia, he’ll always help you talk through your thoughts
-and if u ever feel insecure he’ll always reassure you and help you through it!! proofreading ur essays/emails, promising you’re never a bother or stupid, and he will literally never make fun of you for misreading/misspelling/missaying something
-it’s not really a massive deal to him, it just comes w the territory yknow?? he loves you for who you are, so he doesn’t really care to make it a major thing!!
-rather than seeing u as a dyslexic person, he just sees you as a person who has dyslexia ?? I hope that makes sense,, he just constantly reminds you on your strengths and what truly defines your capabilities
-but sometimes he does giggle a little if you make your phone font really large, but ONLY because it looks silly he swears <333
lee know
-I think at first he might struggle with it, especially if you two live together or are around each other a lot
-gets over it pretty quickly though, but I think he can be a little insensitive to the more emotional side of dyslexia?? like, he’ll forget you can feel insecure at times or you might have difficulties expressing something, so he’ll just be like “what”
-not in a cold way, just he sometimes forgets how to react
-doesn’t coddle you that much, if you need help he trusts you’ll seek him out of your own volition because the last thing he wants to do is make you feel incapable of being independent
-I think sends voice memos over texting already anyways, just finds it more convenient, but if you have auditory/processing issues he’ll literally transcribe his voice message to u
-it’s just about communication between you two, he doesn’t want to assume you need to be accommodated and it can make him seem kinda cold/avoidant about your dyslexia, esp if ur more sensitive??
-just reach out to him or he like “hey can you…” and he’ll immediately help you out in any way he can
changbin
-he doesn’t want to make you feel like you can’t be independent, but he’s very observant and attentive if you ever struggle/need something (he’s definitely mistaken you zoning out as being unable to process something a few too many times, but he’s trying)
-he uses google a lot for resources so sometimes he can be a little bit uninformed such as the time he asked if there’s “dyslexia glasses” he can get for you
-apologizes x100 if he ever asks you a disrespectful question, it’s not that he does it on purpose, but sometimes he’s just very curious but also very misinformed LMAO
-more emotionally accommodating, always encourages you and makes you feel better if any of your colleagues/peers look down on you
-puts a lot of effort in seeing your perspective and understanding your feelings, he thinks the way you feel because of your dyslexia is a lot more important than you being able to read a grocery list
-but if you tell him otherwise, he won’t hesitate to go and research into being more physically accommodating!! he never wants you to feel badly, especially if it’s from him doting on you just a touch too much
hyunjin
-very neutral on it?? not because he doesn’t care but more because he thinks it’s a bit strange to coddle you and baby you over dyslexia
-finds it uncomfortable when people give backhanded comments, even if unintentional, so he doesn’t want to patronize you or make you feel that way either
-but he’ll definitely look into helping a partner with dyslexia, or writing out a schedule for you in his neatest handwriting to help you organize your day (he makes the words pretty colors), or even just how to comfort you if your dyslexia ever gets in the way of anything
-would never tease you though unless he knew with 100% confidence you’d be okay with it, wouldn’t want even a sliver of insecurity to be caused by him
-similarly to changbin, he won’t go out of his way unless he notices you struggling, but this applies emotionally as well
-sometimes he can just know if you’re getting frustrated or struggling, so he’ll walk over and look at what you’re trying to write or read and help the best he can while reassuring you on your abilities :>
-it’s v nice especially if one of your symptoms is struggling with expression of feelings, as somehow he always just knows <3 but if he ever gets it wrong or makes you feel bad, he made you pinky promise to tell him so he can be a better boyfriend for u!!
han
-he probably accidentally patronized you a lot early on, because he didn’t really know how else to help you
-it was a bit overbearing, so once you told him that “yes I can read my texts on my own” he tones it down x90000, because ur a grown adult who just has dyslexia
-will always go out of his way to ask you if you ever need help with anything though, he doesn’t want to make you wait to reach out, or wait for him to notice
-also he because he might fail to notice if you’re having problems, especially in public or maybe at dinner with friends when ur fighting with a menu
-so he doesn’t want you to suffer in silence!! so he tries his best to help you in a respectful manner, and does a lot of research and reading into dyslexia
-likes to show off fun facts he learned, like naming off 12 recognized categories of dyslexia and ur just like ???
-“very cool babe!” -you after he somehow remembered an entire neurohealth article but didn’t notice you struggling with the grocery list he wrote out
felix
-he’s so patient and loving with you, and very empathetic
-he’s somehow a really good balance of knowing how to treat you or help you, or when you just need some time to think things through
-always reminds you of your intellectual capabilities or strengths, especially if he notices you getting nervous in situations where dyslexia might get in the way
-holds your hand but very loosely, like the others he really doesn’t want you to feel babied or a lack of independence
-but he’s so understanding if you sorta need that reassurance and accommodations, and he’s so incredibly patient and understanding about it as well
-but he’s still felix so if you’re 100% comfortable with him poking a bit of fun at you, just know he’ll recite that one Bella Thorn anti-bullying dyslexia ad LMAO
seungmin
-looks a lot into it to know what to do, but doesn’t go out of his way to make accommodations/alter lifestyle choices for you unless needed
-true neutral
-ur his s/o and you have dyslexia, cool, it doesn’t bother him unless it bothers you
-he can be kinda mean when it comes to your feelings though, might make a joke that’s a bit too far, but just let him know
-and if you struggle with expressing yourself, let him know and he’ll shut down any behaviors that might make you feel insecure
-sends you reminders to help you organize your schedule, makes sure to speak clearly and never gets annoyed if you need him to repeat/rewrite/read something out for you
-but other than that, it’s just another aspect to your relationship. he’ll never see it as a downside, and he loves you always <3 if you tell him he’s not doing enough, he’ll change, if you complain about a colleague clowning on you, he’ll go hire a hitman
jeongin
-“lol bella thorn”
-if you’re comfortable with it, he has a very playful approach to your dyslexia, making light jokes while you do the same
-if he asks you to wash the dishes or like go grab something, you’ll always respond with “is it because I have dyslexia 😞”
-honestly he does sometimes go a bit far with helping you out, exaggerating his writing to a point it seems ridiculous or speaking slowly like you’re a baby
-he’ll take it so seriously though if you ever express your discomfort with his actions, and he’ll always remember how you feel about certain things or if you struggled with anything in particular
-his search history,,,is a bit funny. ur not really sure how helpful a wikihow article from 2013 will be in regards to “reading to your dyslexic lover in dim lighting”, but you’re very impressed with not only the length of the article but also how jeongin practically has one for almost every single situation in which dyslexia might hinder you
-will still occasionally clown you for writing “if life gives you melons” one time though

Hey its the Nigerian anon from earlier, and I haven't read events yet I'm going to wait for more reliable translators to bring it out. For now I've only seen twst Zazu, the other version of the outfits and 'catch the tail'?
Catch the tail sorta reminds me of the annual wrestling festival my community holds as well as the masquerades (these aren't as fun, much more traumatising than it sounds). So it's a good reminder at least
Twst Zazu who I've only seen the design of reminds me of Ambrose the third in a Appearance, I showed my fellow Nigerian parents his design but their first response was 'why was he white' ' and reminded them of the dancing guy in African attire.
The outfits I'm a bit more skeptical on, on one hand they seem to implement traditional fabrics, on the other it seems to be a more sexualised version of it. And frankly I'm not a fan of the fan service.
Thoughts?
[Referencing this post!]
Hello, and welcome back!! ^^ It’s good to know that you’re patiently waiting for quality translations for the ongoing event. Sometimes quick translations can result in misinformation spreading (which I’m sure you’re aware of!).
Only 2 parts of the story are out at the moment, but we’ve already seen some exciting things! A new character, a new environment, and lots of new lore…!! ✨
Wrestling isn’t too big of a thing in my part of the world, but it’s cool to see that it is in other places! These kinds of events bring people out and help a community feel more tightly knit~ I wonder if Catch the Tail took inspiration from similar kinds of wrestling festivals in real life?? Side note: hopefully those masquerades aren’t that bad 😅
I believe our twisted!Zazu is named Kifaji!! He seems to serve a similar role as Zazu did in The Lion King, giving morning reports and overseeing the royal household. He has a sort of angular disposition, I think much less “soft” than Ambrose. I’m glad that TWST isn’t afraid to introduce more elderly characters like Kifaji, Ambrose, and Marja (Epel’s granny); it really helps the world feel more “real” than if they just kept throwing young attractive men at us. Funnily enough, Leona actually has a line in the event where he’s all like, “yeah, as if you common tourists would be allowed to meet the king” (Farena/Falena). It feels like the devs are teasing us with that 😂 They knew how hyped we were for his design to be dropped bdkwbzjNvwjwvwjs
I understand why Kifaji’s skin color may be a little odd to your parents seeing as they don’t have the full context for TWST or the event 😅 The Sunset Savanna does seem to boast a light skinned portion of the population as well (Rook, Ruggie, Sebek’s grandfather before he moved to the Briar Valley)! I believe this is also true of Africa, no?
By the outfits, you mean the alternate versions of the Catch the Tail attire, correct? As I said in my original post, I’m not familiar with African fashion so I’m not really at liberty to speak at length about it. I don’t think my opinion should have a lot of weight on this matter, and I don’t want to step on the toes of anyone that does have something substantial to say about this, so I’ll only be giving very precursory thoughts.
I was giving the originals the benefit of the doubt since it would be virtually impossible to “accurately” represent all of Africa in a single outfit without taking some creative liberties and incorporating elements from various parts of the continent. I feel like the bold colors and patterns have a lot of rich history and culture behind them! However 💦 I’m a little less forgiving with the alts??
I’m fine with the arms being exposed because it serves a practical purpose (the goal of Catch the Tail is to grab the opponent’s mask thing off their head snd that’s probably easier to do without the fabric and jewelry in the way). I don’t know about the exposed midriff though? Maybe I’m just misinformed or misunderstanding something (again, I’m not that educated on African fashion), but it resembles a skintight crop top to me and kind of gives the vibes it was only presented this way to be “hot”. I sort of get it from a business perspective; it’s a gacha game and the companies behind TWST want to make money so some degree of fan service is to be expected. However, I can definitely see why this could read as perhaps insensitive fan service 😔
That being said, I’d like to take this opportunity to say 💦 while I’m flattered that some people want to know my opinions, I would prefer it if I wasn’t asked to give my thoughts on these kinds of very specific cultural things. I don’t feel right talking about it in detail since my own knowledge is limited, and again, I don’t want to misspeak or to talk over those who know better than I do.

So I thought that thedasincolor would be my way of carving my place into this world but it turns out that is just the first step. My good friend in the server @marhikit is helping me build a filipino centric discord server for people. We are making rules and drafting up a vision for what we'd like to accomplish with our server.
This space is first and foremost a place to educate people on precolonial filipino customs, history, and current events but also a place to uplift filipino media. But since this is a place of education we feel that it would be wrong to not address the problems in our culture, such as antiblackness, colorism, queerphobia, white worship, and christianity supremacy just to name a few.
I also would like to change the dynamic between mainlanders and filipinos who immigrated to other countries. With Jo Koy, american filipinos tend to dominate the talking space, and there's this idea that we'll save the mainland. But we'd like mainlanders to also be respected to as authorities of the filipino experience as they are the one living in the fascist landscape and while they can use help they are not helpless and passive objects of oppression and their voices need to be listened to.
We want this a place for filipinos to get to know the names of the Gods that were taken from them but this isn't a conversion camp. Christians are welcome and we are not Christian so we are not going to convert our people back by force.
This is also not a place for censorship. There is a lot of misinformation in filipino media but it is my opinion that is important to engage with things you disagree with to know why you disagree with them.
We are currently looking for mods, specifically black filipinos as Marh and I are not black and though that won't stop us from trying to unpack antiblackness neither of us are equipped to handle the subject and my intent is not to make this another space where we drive black filipinos away. However black or not feel free to apply as this is a huge undertaking.
If you made it this far thank you. I'd appreciate a reblog so hopefully I can find my mods.

Readalong For Palestine 2: This Arab Is Queer
Tumblr media
Introduction
We are all horrified and enraged about the vicious slaughter happening in Gaza especially in Rafah at the moment. No food, no hospitals something that breaks my heart into a million pieces over and over again. I unfortunately don't have the money but have decided instead to set up some readalongs to try combat censorship and help educate those when the media and news has become biased and unreliable. I've been reposting fund raisers but have still felt like this isn't enough so I knew I had to try set up something else. All books used in the Readalongs apart from this novel will be donated to my local library so that hopefully a few more people will be able to pick it up. I know it may seem small but I truly believe one small action can make a difference.
Censorship is becoming a rife problem with what's happening and a ton of people are getting misinformation so I believe the best way to combat that is by reading books from Palestinian Authors and fighting back against Censorship to get Palestinian Voices heard. It might not seem enough but I hope to make a little difference. There's also the issue of pink washing where tons of people are saying Palestinians deserve to be mistreated because it's not Lgtbq+ friendly, I shamefully once fell for this myself. Everyone deserves freedom and in fact that place is not as Lgtbq+ friendly as it claims. So due to this my second Readalong For Palestine will be This Arab Is Queer and Anthology edited by Elias Jahshan a Palestinian author.
This readalong will go through all the way to the beginning of May and I have several discussion boards open. I know that this Anthology is not solely by a Palestinian Author but I still found it important to include as unfortunately there is a stigma that comes from being ARAB. Most ARAB people don't feel safe with their own community but they also don't feel safe with the queer community as we like to strongly assume you can't be both queer and muslim. I believe this will be a key read for those that need to work on their internal racism and biases. I promise you this will a hundred percent be worth reading.
My Aims
My aims for doing these readalongs are pure and not for any malicious reasons. I was one of the people brainwashed by the deadly and brutal narrative that the media is pushing. So because of this I want to fight back and help educate people as there's no justification for Genocide. I also as a queer person want to fight back against the deadly narrative of Pink Washing as I'm sorry nothing justifies taking away life.
So here's all my aims and hopes with these readalongs.
1: Get more books from palestian authors out there.
2: Getting people to talk about what's happening through reading and discussing palestinian content.
3: Fight back against censorship and allow people to access to palestinian media that they want to silence.
Please be assured that these are my own intentions. I hope that for those that want to take part it's there intention as well.
Other Readalongs
Tumblr media
This is not the only readalong I will be doing. Minor Detail has come and gone but I will also be doing Readalongs for On Palestine By Noam Chamsky Ilan Pappé and In My Mother's Footsteps By Mona Hajjar Halaby. I picked On Palestine as I've seen the book recommended a lot especially when it comes to educating those who are completely unaware of the severity of what's happening. Its a quick read but also a super important one. I then chose In My Mother's Footsteps as I realised the important of hearing from the child of a Palestinian Refuge and fully learning what it's like. If this goes well I might host some more next year doing a sort of similar thing to the Trans Rights Readathon. It'll depend how uni's going for me though.
Unfortunately I'm not out of the closet yet so this one is being kept quiet on some of my socials but I still hope to get some people involved with each readalong.
Conclusion
The dates for the other two readalongs will be posted in a separate post once confirmed but for now This Arab Is Queer is the next one on the list. I would especially recommend joining this one if you've accidentally been part of the pink washing crowd. Once I've got my hands on this one I'm definitely keeping it as it's a super important book to have as it shows queernesss from a none western lens.

So I’m ace and I think that affected my views on some things regarding reproductive health (basically I’m neutral, leaning towards pro choice) and so I went on YouTube and found someone whose views don’t align with the ones I was raised with. I am not here to be comfortable, I am here to LEARN and CHANGE because stupid previous bias and judgement can DIE
Yeah, challenging old biases and figuring out what a good position is to take on controversial issues can be hard. Personally I know what I do is try and be informed, so instead of seeking out both sides, I try and research the thing itself. (So in the case of reproductive health I might look up history, like the history of abortion, history of abortion bans/restrictions, history of contraception, etc, and also things like common myths around abortion/contraception, how abortion/contraceptives work if I didn't know already, etc.) And then at the very least whatever my opinion is it will be an informed opinion.
It's also a good idea to spend some time looking up how to avoid misinformation. There's a lot of good online guides from this, two things I personally use is pay attention to sources (someone saying something on social media is not a reliable source, I also search out websites I haven't heard of to see if they're legitimate publications with real journalistic standards or not.) And fact checking. Non-reliable sources can be right sometimes, but this is how you make sure. Wikipedia and Snopes are great websites to use to fact check claims. And they both list their own sources.
I also try and be aware of emotional arguments. Emotional arguments aren't always wrong or bad, but they can be manipulative. I once saw the advice for avoiding misinformation that if something makes you emotional, especially angry or scared, that's information you want to double and triple check is accurate and I've always tried to keep that in mind.
Checking our own biases is probably the hardest part of informing ourselves, if we were aware of them they wouldn't be biases. But being more informed and avoiding misinformation is a really good way of challenging those biases. I also just in general encourage people to try and be thoughtful. Sometimes we can get riled up about something and then we kind of forget about it or move on or get riled up by the next thing. It's a good idea to go for a walk sometimes or journal or other similar things and just process things and think about things.
So hopefully that's all helpful, Anon. I definitely have my own strong opinions on reproductive rights, and I come down on the pro-choice, strong belief in bodily autonomy side of things. But I really encourage people to be informed themselves and try and give their own critical thought to big issues like this.
All the best!

I’ve had a lot of time to let this stew in my brain so might as well spill my thoughts to get them out of my head. If you have no idea what’s going on (hi mutuals) or aren’t in the mood for reading this kinda thing, scroll past and have a good day i guess
Worst part about all this is probably all the misinformation. I see lots of points cycled as fact despite being dubious at best and “source: dude trust me” at worst (even by those with good intentions). I encourage everyone to do extensive research before committing to an opinion!
As for Veilmori, I doubt they’re coming back. Even if PM extends an offer, they might not even take it at this point. Regardless, I wish them the best!
As for the “firing”? All that’s certain is that the contract isn’t being renewed or something like that. Not quite as extreme as firing, but not illegal afaik and there’s still a safety net for Veilmori. I’m unfortunately not well aware of the contract’s terms. All I know is that it’s somewhat common for Korean contracts to have a clause for the kind of situation that sparked the termination. (EDIT: Apparently the “firing over the phone” was a legit thing - very illegal - and Veilmori was a regular, not an outsourced contract or anything. Doesn’t help that PM is being vague about her employment status atm.)
Also I find it funny that this is the second time a “person fired over feminist social media” thing happened in PM. First time was a lot more clear-cut in comparison (very radical feminist group) but still, deja vu.
Honestly my biggest concern is the treatment of employees if the firsthand statements are to be believed. Hopefully this situation creates some major changes for the better in PM.
I doubt that PM being late on putting out a statement is a sign of something bad. A bit messy, perhaps, but legal red tape can get finicky. The statement we got doesn’t really say much, and it’s still unclear why exactly the termination took place. Honestly, I would be fine with everything if they just outright said the reason. Again, not sure if this is legal red tape or not. Anything’s better than a vague “it wasn’t because of her views” because even that could still relate to the social media stuff (i.e. not because of having views, but because of expressing them on an account publically and clearly connected to the individual). (EDIT: Altho I’ve been told firing employees over social media stuff is a big no-no, I’m sure there’s exceptions and it, sadly, has happened before. This situation’s case against Veilmori is flimsy at best though, and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was illegal outside of loopholes.)
Last thing to note is that this whole situation is a messy cocktail of social problems and long-held frustrations. Nobody wins in this scenario. PM was between a rock and a hard place and are still chipping away at the rock they are being crushed by. I’m not even gonna pretend I’m an expert on the gender war and whatnot. It’s definitely helpful to not view the situation through an ethnocentric lens though. That’s not to say you can’t maintain opinions based on your own views on feminism, but be sure to not ignore the context either.
Hopefully, like last time, everything can be cleared up and PM can get back on its feet. Currently my view is “not angry, just disappointed” for now. For now, though, wait for new developments and take care of yourself. Your feelings, good or bad, are absolutely valid and whether you continue to support PM or not is entirely up to you! You’re not a bad person for choosing either option.

Hi, sorry to bother you. I felt the need to point out a bit of misinformation in one of your reblogs. The Satanic Temple is NOT an alt-right organization. They're one of the most well-known and outspoken advocates for reproductive rights, queer rights, social and racial justice, religious freedom, and separation of church and state. They have fought and won lawsuits against government institutions imposing christofascist law on Americans. They are anti-fascist in every sense of the word and OP lumping them in with ACTUAL neo-nazi groups is incredibly misinformed and misguided.
Hey @captain-crackship! I appreciate you spending the time to send this to me. I was also under the impression that The Satanic Temple was a "good" organization, up until a year or two ago. When reproductive rights were under fire here in Texas, I was fully convinced that they could help me get an abortion - I personally even went so far as to get myself a "membership card" - since then, there has been a LOT of info to come about about them - you can read more about it here. This blog post (and the entire site itself) is also a great resource for queer Satanists and even has several articles on The Satanic Temple and its problematic practices.
Unfortunately, because of the organization's title and reputation, I think a lot of pagans/witches will jump to defend The Satanic Temple whenever possible, in an attempt to avoid agreeing with Christians and other organized religions (I mean, come on, they've all been fighting against The Satanic Temple for God knows how long). However, this has much less to do with religion itself and more about human rights and organized religions.
That being said, I obviously need to throw in that Satanism itself is not bad or harmful, the church is just corrupt. I just don't think they need anyone's money.
Also! Here's a link to an updated post from the OP of that reblog you mentioned. The OP did mention that the organization itself isn't far-right, but higher-ups involved in the church have some problematic history of being nazi apologists, white supremacists, far-right learning, etc. Hopefully this clarifies things!

Harry Styles X Reader
(Christmas) 2019
After Harry had proposed to Y/N, they stayed in London for a while. Harry had his tour coming up in April of 2020. They had wanted to spend more time with family and together. Christmas was great, they felt whole again, and they were surrounded by their loved ones, they needed nothing more.
They had Christmas dinner at their house this year. Usually, they would spend Christmas Eve with Y/N’s family. Y/N would help her mom in the kitchen, they still do their American tradition, making potato roast, roast turkey, stuffing, and many veggies carrots, peas, and brussels sprouts. We can never forget mashed potatoes and gravy! At night Y/N’s family would pass around the gifts they got for Y/N and Harry, and Harry and Y/N would give the gifts they got their family.
On Christmas Day they would spend it with Harry’s family. It would consist of Y/N, Gemma, Anne, and Harry, in the kitchen cooking with the music playing out loud. Gemma and Harry would take care of the dessert, Y/N and Anne would do the cooking. Anna would invite all family friends and family for the dinner. The dinner was filled with bringing up childhood memories, happy moments, and much laughter. They would always end the night with games, the young kids would be passed out on couches and the adults would be the ones acting like children. They always had a blast, being surrounded by their loved ones.
This year Y/N wanted to spend it all together so they invited Y/N’s and Harry’s family over to their house. On Christmas day both Y/N’s mom and Anne came early to help prepare in the kitchen. There was a lot to do because both families will be coming, Y/N’s family does an American tradition, and Harry’s family does an English tradition. Y/N had told Harry to pick out the games they’ll be playing after the family dinner.
This so happens to be both of their favorite holidays so they go all out, their house was decorated beautifully. The outside house was decorated with yellow lights all over the edge of the house, around the ground, bushes, and driveway doors. There was a long green garland on the edge, with red ornaments, of the first door and a green wreath with a red bow on the door.
The inside of the house had two black doors before entering, both opened as a sign of welcome. On each side, there was one medium size white snow-like tree with white lights, gold glass, and plastic ornaments. On each side of the house, there were curved stairs cases, they had tinsel and garlands intertwined within the railing. In the center of the house, there was a big long dining table with a white-covered table cloth, white plates with gold rims, gold utensils, glass cups, white candles with gold holders, white flowers, small tiny white and gold Christmas trees and deers, it was gold and white theme.
The living room had cream couches with beige throw pillows and covers. A big flat-screen TV was hung in the center with a fireplace and two beige Christmas stockings under the TV. In between the two couches, there was a square glass coffee table sitting in the middle with everything that is needed for entertainment. There were board games from heads up, uno, twister name any type of game there was. There were also gram creakers, marshmallow fluff, M&M, skittles, licorice, and white icing for the kids to make some houses.
When both families came together god was messy but a good type of messy. By dinner time the adults were eating and talking loudly, the kids were going in and out, upstairs and downstairs, food was on the floor, drinks were spilled, and being stepped on, it was messy and loud. By then it came to them to move on to the living room it was more relaxed because the kids settled to make their house, it was still loud but a good loud because it was all laughter coming from playing the games. It was a night but a night they loved, enjoyed, and wouldn’t want it any other way.
Harry and Y/N had spent New Year’s and Harry’s birthday in London with their family, after that they had traveled to LA to get things going for the tour. Y/N wanted to get some wedding planning done because the tour is going to start soon, in April and he always gets busy before confirming everything, checking if everything was good to go for the tour.
On March 13th LA had gone on lockdown before Harry could even finish confirming everything for the tour. They were devastated, his fans were devastated, but also the world is in chaos, doctors didn’t know what was going on, and loved ones dying left and right from this virus. Y/N and Harry obviously had to quarantine together because again they did live together in LA or London home are where both of them are.
The country called it an emergency, and the whole world declared it a lockdown emergency, where no one but essential workers was out and working. As quarantine went by Y/N and Harry had to preoccupy themself. They had called all their loved ones to check up on them, every other day they’d call their parents, one day Harry’s parents and the next Y/N’s parents. This also gave them the perfect time to start or get a picture of what they wanted for their wedding. They honestly just wanted their friends and family. They didn't want the public to know when and where it will be, the fewer people they invite the more of a secret it’ll be.
In June, Harry and Y/N were able to go back home to London. When they finally made it to London all they were thinking about is their own loved ones, they wanted to see them, hug them, and see how they were doing. Y/N had already lost her grandfather due to the pandemic so seeing her family is something she’s been waiting for. Ever since the loss of her grandfather she feared that another loved one won’t see her in white walking down the aisle. She didn’t want to wait another year or so, a person doesn’t know what will happen by that time.
“Harry?” She questioned looking up at him as they were cuddled up one night on their couch. He looked back down at her as a sign for her to continue.
“I know we said we’d wait to get married but I don’t think I want to wait so long to get married,” she said softly, scared of what his response would be.
“Why the change in mind, Lovie” he asked back sitting up and giving her his full attention
“It’s just…what if..” she started with her voice shaky, she was scared to continue, she was scared of what he’d think.
“What if what?” Harry was looking at her confusingly.
“What… if one of our parents doesn’t make it until then, I want them all to be there.” She finally confessed to him what she was scared of, she felt as if a weight had shifted from her shoulders, and she felt relief that she left out her worry.
“When were you thinking?” He asked curiously furrowing his eyebrows.
“I don’t even know really, maybe by October or November? I don’t want a big wedding, we can even have it here. I saw actually people doing their wedding in backyards and they had just the people that were necessary, we can have it in our backyard.” She rambled on, overthinking.
“We can do whatever you want, dove if that’s what you really want.” He caressed her cheek, a sign of reassuring her, and she slightly leaned into his touch.
And that’s what they did when they told their family the type of wedding they wanted, they didn’t care, they didn’t care it was so soon, they didn’t care how small it’ll be, as long as they’re happy.
November 1st, 2020 was their day and they couldn’t be happier. They had everything set up in their backyard a beautiful white flowered arch, white chairs for the guests, and white petals all over the grass going along the aisle. In the end, they just had their parents, siblings, Tom, Tyler, and Jeff, they even had Jeff marry them off. It was beautiful Y/N’s sister was a photographer so they did have all the memories of the night. After the wedding ceremony, Y/N and Harry had a slow dance, Harry had actually written and recorded a song for this moment and they are the only ones to hear it. Y/N had become Mrs. Styles at the end of the night, It was all they ever wanted and they couldn’t be any happier.
