So we all know that Awdry originally had James as a GSWR Class 403 since it fit the description of an inside-cylinder mogul, but later changed James to be an English design. This post stems off the thought of "What If Awdry kept James Scottish?"
This whole thing was also brought on by @mean-scarlet-deceiver's Tales of the G&SW excerpts.
Tumblr media
Beware, my writing of a Scottish accent is terrible, try not to cringe.
What If Scottish James
Written By: SparkArrester
1929
James was in a foul mood. Henry, like usual, failed. Now he was stuck with his coal train. That he had to arrange himself. Apparently the new shunter was busy with something that wasn’t shunting.
“Stupid Trucks, stupid coal, stupid everythingggg”, He moaned as he marshalled his train, “All that time being cleaned was a waste!”
The trucks, sensing an opportunity for mischief, made it their mission to give James the worst morning possible. They jammed their brakes, ran hot axles boxes, and some even derailed in the yard. The breaking point was when an old tippler’s front hatch flew open. Coal poured out onto the rails, and onto James, coating his front end. The trucks all burst out laughing, but they were soon cut off.
“Yee wretched little INGRATES!”, Burst out James in a perfect scottish dialect, “Ye all oor jus’ little devious muckle nuisances that are no fit ta scrape ta scale oof me boiler, ye little wee gobshites!”
This continued for some time, until James heard a familiar whistle, and immediately blanched. Percy rolled in looking gobsmacked.
“Err, uhh, hey James?”
“Wha arr ye -ahem- what are, uh, you doing here Percy?”
“Coming to take over the shunting.”
“Ah, right.”
“...”
“... Percy.”
“Yes?”
“Please don’t tell anyone…”
“James, I’m pretty sure everyone on this side of the island heard you.”
“... Dang it.”
1951
James sat there, covered in tar. His crew had already gone to the station to phone for help, and one of the old Suddery Tanks brought a crane to assist. He was hoping for an engine like Edward or Henry to take him to the works. In the meantime, quietly grumbling to himself was good enough. In fact, he was so absorbed with himself that he forgot his surroundings.
“Stupid wee muckle nuisances…”, he muttered, “Stupid Toby. If ‘e wasnae a huge prat my red coat wouldnae be in ruins. Honestly, those wee branchline engines are nothing but great big pieces ‘o-”
A ring of a bell broke him out of his thoughts. He jumped back as he realized Toby and Percy were right beside him. He prayed they hadn’t heard him. They did.
“Ark ay Percy!”, Chortled Toby in a terrible Scottish accent, “Whatever isnae that dirty object!”
“That isn’t even how you use isnae…”, muttered James, but of course they took no notice.
They continued speaking in terrible accents all the way to the sheds. James didn’t know if he should be angry at their teasing, or their complete butchering of his old dialect (one he had tried his hardest to shake), so he settled for both.
1959
The Fat Controller had brought a new goods engine to help out. James was glad at first, now someone else could work the pick-up goods while he got more passengers. He had heard that there was something up with the new engine when it had arrived, but he didn’t put much stock into it. Later in the day, he was backing down on what would hopefully be his last pick-up goods in a while when he heard a whistle. A deep-toned whistle that he had not heard in years. James grimaced as a Caledonian steam engine pulled up on the adjacent line, giving him the stink eye.
“Well Well Well…” The Caledonian spat, “A Sou’-West engine. And one of Pee-Wee Drummond’s oven-boxes! Ah hoped we saw the last ‘o ye back ‘ome!”
“The feeling is most certainly mutual!” He replied with vitriol that wasn’t really there. He hoped to leave everything pre-sodor behind. But of course it had found him. At least he still had a slight bad opinion towards the Caledonian, it did him good in this confrontation.
“Ark aye!”, Exclaimed the Caledonian, “Why do ye soond like tha?”
James was taken aback, “Like what?”
“There it is again! Aye Douggie!”
The question of who “Douggie” was got itself answered quickly, when an identical Caledonian  engine pulled up besides the first.
“Aye Donnie. What’s up!”
“Wait wait, just let that Sou’-West engine speak!”
James defiantly shut his mouth, but then his crew chose that exact time to ask him something. He replied as quietly as possible. But not quiet enough.
“O Aye!” Exclaimed “Douggie”, “He soonds like a wee sassenach!”
James went red in the face, “Well! I-I-I-”
“Tha accent is ass!” Chortled “Donnie”, and soon “Dougie” joined in.
They continued until James left, his face matching his paintwork. He put a good few months practicing his accent, and it was hard. He now figured out what exactly was up with the new engine: there were two of them, and they both sucked.

wait, I don't understand why fanon Masky is so hated?? /genq (I was never really that interested in him tbh so I only know shit about him.)
OKAY, I can answer this one!
I'm happy that the whole fandom turned around on Fanon Masky recently (at least, I believe it must have been recently considering Cheesecake Masky was a thing before I 'left' the fandom), since that version of him is a bit problematic lol
If you've watched Marble Hornets, then you'll know that Masky and Hoody are REALLY scary (seriously, I had nightmares about Masky for absolute weeks), and work against the Operator. However 'fanon' Masky is a loyal employee of Slenderman/The Operator (I'm gonna make a post addressing the differences one day), and isn't really all that scary?? From what I remember, he was mainly joked about as being the 'Sensible one' of the Proxy trio (Him, Hoody and Toby), who was basically the dude always tired of their bullshit. Not only is this the complete opposite of how Masky is, as he would NEVER work FOR his enemy, who literally ruined his life from childhood, but it also sort of flanderised him and no longer made him scary, which is something the Creepypasta fandom tends to do a lot lmao
Another thing is his sudden change of character design. A lot of old Creepypasta fanart depicting him from 2013-2017 show him with lighter brown hair and a yellow jacket, which isn't what he looks like at all?? Actual Masky has much darker hair and I don't think he's ever seen with that ugly ass highlighter coloured jacket.
There's also the complete change in his body type, definitely one of the most controversial things about Fanon Masky. Let me first say that I do not believe that Tim Sutton (Masky's original actor) is fat, I'm not sure WHERE the old Creepypasta fandom got that idea from. Fandom in general, especially the Creepypasta fandom, is quite 'fatphobic' from my experience. What this basically means is that if you're not a skinny twink you will be body shamed in every way possible. The Creepypasta character market has always been oversaturated with men who basically were twinks, with slim and pale bodies, such as Jeff the Killer.
I believe that making Masky so thin came from the fact that when the Creepypasta fandom really took off around 2013-ish, a lot of Creepypasta fans looked for content and eventually I believe that a lot of them must have stumbled across Marble Hornets. Upon seeing Masky and Hoody, two characters that could have passed off as Creepypasta characters (as most of the other characters in Marble Hornets looked like ordinary people), the fandom probably adopted them and adapted them to 'their tastes', no matter how good they were or not. It might have also been a game of telephone too, as maybe a Creepypasta fan's friend of a friend told them some info about Masky and they misunderstood and instead of who Masky actually was, saw him more as the silly goofy masked guy. And to be honest, I don't think the Creepypasta fandom has ever really been known for actually doing their research, so that misconstrued version of him just became canon in everyones minds.
Not that it was always that innocent though...
One titular thing about fanon Masky was his strange love of Cheesecake. I myself saw a lot of it in 2016 sewed into every bit of content for his character, and was confused on where it came from. Then, I found out that it was meant to be a joke SHAMING him for 'being fat'. I originally stumbled across this for the first time in a satire comic, where one of the panels is Hoody chastising Masky for eating cheesecake, stating that Masky will become fat. The cheesecake joke is one I've seen in some fandoms before, albeit in different ways and with different foods. For the life of me I cannot figure out why everyone decided to associate him with Cheesecake, but everyone just did.
Fanon Masky is a perfect example on how fandoms can flanderise characters to the point where they're unrecognisable; pull up a picture of Masky in the Marble Hornets and then a Masky fanart from 2015. The difference is STAGGERING. The Creepypasta fandom is very much infamous for flanderising characters, such as making Jeff a misunderstood bad boy, Toby a waffles-obsessed manchild, and Masky a Slenderman-loving, Crayons and Paper-having, Toby-hating, Cheesecake-eating twink.
TL;DR: Fanon Masky was made as a shitty misconstrued fat joke.

Remember the 10 likes and dislikes you did for sheriff!joel?, would you consider doing it for Pornstar!joel? <33
Ok YES I love this and it was such a great mental exercise for myself because as I was thinking about my answers I came up with a few ideas for future chapters so thank you very much for the inspo!
Let's dive in, shall we?
Likes:
Tumblr media
1. The rain: he loves it when it rains. He's not sure why. Maybe it's the smell, maybe it's the sound, but he just loves it.
2. His family/mom: as we discovered in chapter two, Joel cares very much for Mama Miller. Both he and Tommy are mama's boys, through and through, and even if he brushes off her advice at the time, he definitely takes it to heart.
3. Weddings: he may not be a marriage guy himself, but he loves going to weddings. He loves a good party and just simply loves love. It makes him happy to see other people happy.
4. Pool: he's gotten pretty good at it over the years, especially since Tommy became a bartender. He's been hanging out and all sorts of bars, waiting for his brother to get off work, and he's gotten a taste for pool. He's even won a few bucks off some drunks when they try to test his skill.
5. Sundresses: at the end of the day, Joel is still a man. And if he sees a pretty girl in a sundress, he's going to look twice. He can't help himself. Something about the ease of access and the air of innocence really gets him going.
6. Board games: Joel is competitive. Blame it on Tommy, but he loves a good board game and he really really loves to win. Doesn't matter what it is, Monopoly or Candy Land, he will give it his all and he will get super pissed off if he loses.
7. Sleeping in: Alright, he usually works late hours sometimes and he likes to sleep in. There's nothing like waking up naturally, letting the sun seep through his curtains and slowly rouse him from his slumber, and even better if he has a warm body next to him in bed.
8. Driving: He loves driving. He's not really into cars, per se, but he likes the act of driving. The open road, windows down, radio up... perfection.
9. Breakfast: He might like to sleep in but he will eat breakfast any hour of the day. Pancakes and bacon are his weakness.
10. Classic rock: Anything from the 70s will make him happy. He knows just about every hit and every band. Doesn't really care too much about current music, his radio is always tuned to classic rock.
Dislikes:
Tumblr media
1. Leather sofas: Ok, the leather sticks to his skin and he doesn't like it. It gets hot in Texas and he hates the feeling of his skin unpeeling from a leather couch when he gets up. It's especially terrible when trying to hook up with a girl - the sound, the feel... it just kills the mood.
2. Snobs: People who think they're better than him or his friends/family can go to hell. He really dislikes snobby people, rich people, people who treat others differently, people who think their shit doesn't stink - can't stand it.
3. Drugs: Unfortunately in his line of work, he's seen a lot of his coworkers get sucked into drugs. He doesn't mind weed, but the harder stuff he can't stand. He's been in a handful of situations where it was obvious to him the girl he was working with got way too high before filming and it completely ruined the vibe for him. He doesn't like the idea of girls feeling like they need to get messed up to fuck him, but that's a whole other situation.
4. Cooking: He's terrible at it. He typically orders food in, gets something from work or heats something up from the freezer. If you're helping him, however, that changes things...
5. Sage: He can't stand the scent. It's too overpowering and it reminds him of his aunt's house when he was younger. A house that was most definitely not designed for children and more like a museum, where his mother would constantly scold him and Tommy, making sure they didn't touch anything breakable.
6. Olives: They are slimy and taste awful, and he will not be fielding any more questions on the matter.
7. Fake nails: He doesn't care if girls have their nails done professionally but the really really long, sharp ones freak him out. Especially when a scene partner has them and they are wrapped around his dick. He's always afraid one is going to accidentally stab him somewhere way too sensitive.
8. Blood: Joel gets woozy at the sight of blood. He doesn't know why, it's always been that way and Tommy has teased him about it for years.
9. Ties: Absolutely despises dressing up and wearing ties. It feels like someone's lightly choking him all day when he has to wear one. If he absolutely must, he always tries to make it as loose as possible without looking sloppy.
10. Golf: Because all my Joels hate golf. For no particular reason at all.

ok episode 6 thoughts
decent episode, doesn't top episodes 4 or 5 for me but it was good
kronos being portrayed by his headmaster is an interesting choice
the iris message is so much blurrier than I always imagined i'm crying
144p iris message you would think it would be clearer but nope that's so funny to me
with how involved rick is with the show that means that's always what he imagined iris messaging looking like I can't iris messaging is ruined for me
we didn’t get percy talking to the zebra T-T it’s fine tho i forgot that even happened in the book until i checked after watching
their whole conversation while watching the animals escape i love them
their chemistry is perfect in this episode
THE LOTUS CASINO HAS A ROLLER COASTER WHAT
i get people wanted poker face, but the dua lipa song is perfect, it’s like a slightly more modern version
i don’t know fashion throughout the centuries so i can’t really say anything about the costume designs, but i kinda wish there were more obviously out of place outfits in the lotus
is augustus mentioned at all in the books? i don’t remember a satyr named augustus so i guess he was made just for the tv series?
luring grover in with pan is a cool change
grover slowly losing his memory was played pretty well
i keep getting impressed by how good these kids are as actors
i honestly don’t know why people hate on lin manuel miranda so much, i think he made for a pretty good hermes this episode
but also the way they’re portraying hermes feels a little bit off?? i don’t really know how but something didn’t feel right about his character
i do feel like he’s the most “human” out of the gods introduced so far, and i think that came through pretty well
“to be so close to someone you love, knowing neither of you has any choice but to keep hurting each other?” that line is just-
as someone with a really complicated relationship with my dad that line just hurt goddamn
the flashback percy had??? i feel like that line doesn’t 100% relate to percy and sally’s relationship, but i see how that’d be how percy would feel
unless i’m dumb and that was referencing his relationship with poseidon lol
ok the end of their talk with hermes i wanna talk about that a bit
parenting sometimes being watching your kid struggle and being powerless to stop it: completely true
“we’re all just doing the best we can” now that’s some godly bullshit
the difference between that first quote and gods being parents is that they’re literally capable of doing anything
they could be more present in their kids lives, they just CHOOSE not to, that’s how it works in the books
sure it’s coming from a place where he thinks interacting will only make things worse but???
i can’t articulate my thoughts, i liked this scene tho, my thoughts on hermes are mixed as they should be
ANNABETH STEALING HERMES’S KEYS
“i’m multi-talented” I LOVE HER
percy forgetting grover felt so unsettling to me
hermes driving a taxi so real
percy trying to drive, i’m not gonna lie, that scene went on a little too long for me, but i was laughing the whole time so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
ok percy getting 4 pearls instead of 3??? idk why but that change pissed me off
i paused to get out the book, and i guess it makes more sense then hades just deciding to return her
but at the same time there’s the line in the prophecy, he’s supposed to leave her in the underworld for that part of the prophecy
are they just going to end up accidentally breaking one of the pearls or trading it or something? that’s the only way i can see that still working out
i feel like these episode reviews always turn out sounding more negative than positive, but i swear i’m enjoying the hell out of this series, i just have trouble articulating joy lol

Hiii 🌼 spring fic for Carol Danvers, I don't have a plot idea really just anything you want xo
hi! i hope you enjoy this :)

carol danvers masterlist
A Little Competition
Whenever you were cuddling with your girlfriend, you cat decided that it was now the perfect time to ruin the moment.
It had to have been some kind of specially developed skill that Apple Pie was gifted immediately before she was born, because the timing of every single interruption was nothing less than impeccable. She was normally a fairly independent animal, and other than the times she was hungry or thirsty, tended to leave you alone, usually content to just hang out in the same room as you and do her thing while you rested or relaxed.
Unless Carol was visiting.
The first few times it happened, you thought it was a fluke. It was simply a coincidence that she had run out of water or that Carol had come over right at the time when it was time for Apple Pie’s nightly meal. Your girlfriend had jokingly suggested that your cat didn’t like her, and at first you waved her off, until it didn’t really seem like just a joke anymore.
“I don’t know what it is!” you had complained one day, laying face down on the couch as you spoke to Carol on the phone. “Does she hate you for some reason I don’t understand?”
“Babe, your guess is as good as mine,” Carol responded, and you could hear the smile she wore over the phone. “I still think it’s just a coincidence.”
You sighed. “If it is a coincidence, the universe really likes to torture me.”
At that moment, Apple Pie was laying on the floor across the room, minding her own business as you wracked your brain to come up with potential reasons why she despised Carol and apparently had made it her life’s mission to never let you two cuddle.
The next time Carol came over for dinner, you had a few meetings that were keeping you late at work, so you just sent her a text to let herself in and that you would be home in a little bit. She texted you back saying that she would put in an order at your favorite pizza place (and of course you were going to agree to that, she was an angel).
By the time that you actually made it back to your home, there was nothing you wanted to do more than curl up with Carol and sleep. Absolutely nothing had gone right today, and even the traffic on the way home from work seemed like it was designed specifically to make you angrier. When you finally arrived home and stepped inside, you expected to see your girlfriend come out and greet you, or at least to hear the sound of the TV playing as she waited for you to get home, but the apartment was completely quiet.
“Carol?” you gently called out, wondering if she had been called away on Avengers business and simply not had the time to let you know. You could smell the pizza that she said she was going to order, so you guessed that if she did have to leave, at least you still had something for dinner tonight. But as soon as you set foot in the living room, you almost laughed out loud at the sight.
Carol was fast asleep on the couch, her mouth hanging open as she slept, and sitting comfortably on her lap (and also fast asleep) was Apple Pie. Your cat was flopped over on her back and also had her mouth slightly open as she slept, and the two of them looked so similar you could feel the tears of laughter start to form in your eyes. It was quite possibly the cutest thing you’ve ever gotten a chance to see, and you made sure to snap a few photos on your phone before you walked over and gently tapped Carol’s shoulder.
“Hey,” she said sleepily. “You’re home. Sorry I fell asleep.”
“Don’t worry about it,” you said, keeping your voice low so neither of you woke Apple Pie. “Honestly, I’m tired too.”
“Then why don’t you come here?” Carol asked, patting the spot next to her on the couch. “We can all cuddle together.”
You didn’t need to be asked twice, and after a quick stop to change out of your work clothes and into your pajamas, you were settling in on the couch. “You know what I think?” you said to Carol right before you drifted off. “I don’t think Apple Pie hates you, I think she wanted to be included in the cuddling.”
Carol laughed as she leaned in and placed a kiss on your cheek. “I think you might be right about that.”

my re4r analysis  (spoilers for gameplay, story/plot, characters, aeon)
analysis here is without information about separate ways for re4r so please keep that in mind as my opinion may (and will mostly likely) change slightly
(for my separate ways analysis read here)
gameplay
It very much falls in line with a newer modern interpretation of the series. There’s gameplay that caters to new and old audiences. If you’ve already played re4, you’ll still find re4r enjoyable as well.
the dark and moody look to the game is so well done and overall the visual designs are beautiful and devastating stunning.
there is still a considerable amount of things cut that I don’t think was detrimental to the overall gameplay style.
the lack of QTEs was a good thing, and the parry system was the perfect way to allow players a new way of playing resident evil games.
each chapter felt like the right amount of time, and has an amazing amount of replayability.
Because of the open world nature of the game, there are many possibilities to miss things and I’ve seen many people accidentally miss things because they rushed their first playthrough or didn’t bother to check every single little thing.
og re4 players can play on standard or hardcore and still have an INCREDIBLY difficult time finishing the game with a good rank
there’s still a bit of adaptive difficult, if you’re on hardcore and continue dying, it will help you out and switch to assisted if it’s continual deaths.
story/plot
pacing was very well done, but again, some scenes were removed for a lot of characters and i wish they were still included in some way
the changing of luis was JUST the right about of lore that was needed to flesh out a more cohesive story. why we want to know more about him and why he’s doing what he’s doing. (this also leads to why we need separate ways and how he works with Ada)
a lot of people tend to not read the notes but you are missing a lot of the story that way.
It does feel like a few things are missing, (again maybe it will be better with separate ways) but particularly with krauser I feel like a lot is missing)
I also laughed too hard at the “fight”-xposition (exposition + fight)
there were a few retcons with how the scenarios worked out but i either liked them or felt indifferent about it
characters
leon
I actually initially disliked the attitude change they gave for Leon. He seemed so rude and distant, even from Ashley. Og re4 he was incredibly sweet to ashley, his voice getting higher and more gentle sounding. Whereas in re4r, Leon just ignores Ashley a lot of the time. He’s cold and it may be a facade he plays to get over the trauma he had gone through.
(Although I do like the scene where Leon comforts Ashley because she’s upset after she “changed” and attacked him. It was the right amount of comfort needed with a bit of humor as well.)
He doesn’t want to feel anything good, maybe he thinks he doesn’t deserve it. It’s a much colder interpretation of Leon (think Vendetta Leon) In the end, I don’t really hate it, but I wish we got to see some sweetness with him. He was nice to Ashley one time, Luis only when he was dying, and Ada when he lets her go after their initial meeting. (It’s the first time he smiles in the game- when he sees Ada.)
I kinda miss the canonical cheek scar Leon has from og re4 that is still there in re6. I guess this cut is retconned for the newer timeline.
I’m still a fan of Nick for Leon’s voice but I will say that I much enjoy him as re2r Leon as opposed to re4r. It’s still obviously familiar to me, and although I still think he did decent work, I am still a fan of Matt Mercer for Leon as he was the one I fell in love with first.
His design is good as well, and I don’t mind the slight alterations.
Ada
Now a lot of people think that her character has been completely changed and or “ruined,” but I really think that capcom had decided to work on Ada’s “redemption arc” as soon as humanly possible in the canon.
I do like that she seemed more like a person in this interpretation. She’s not constantly putting on the “Sexy spy lady,” facade. And since a LARGE majority of RE fans outside of aeon stans, still to this day think of Ada as an “evil” woman. I think it’s fine that capcom decided to get her to show more of an emotional side, that she does pine over Leon. And that despite her job, she still tries to help Leon. (but people who play Separate Ways or her re6 campaign, would KNOW that Ada continually and consistently tries to help Leon and save him.)
Even though she had “more screen time” in re4r than in og re4, I do miss the few scenes that were removed with her.
Lily’s expressions for Ada are SO incredibly heartbreaking and oh boy did they push up the angst.
Lily’s voice for Ada grew on me more and more, she she has a coldness that makes sense for her character’s growth and development. The fact that men were thinking she’s not sexy enough is more of a them problem than anything.
Because Ada’s re4r design is incredibly hot and sexy and I 100% think capcom decided to keep her almost entirely covered with clothing to keep her from being overly sexualized. (And her old outfit didn’t make sense for the cold weather but... I digress.)
Ashley
I don’t know how they managed to do it but they made her an extremely likeable person. She’s ambitious but scared. Terrified but excited. She’s the perfect self insert :P BUT yes, I do enjoy how they changed her and allowed to somewhat be able to be more capable.
She does “flirt” with Leon a lot but I barely blame her. But her subtle hints at flirting go on deaf ears lol As Leon continually ignores her or rebuffs her statements. And furthermore calls her a kid/young girl twice when talking about her in third person.
A lot of people still think that Ashley’s just being nice to Leon rather than flirting, which is also fair. We need to have more platonic relationships in games, and the fact that capcom explicitly removed the ability to hold Ashley’s hand because they didn’t want the relationship to be interpreted as romantic says a lot. (I didn’t care much for the removal, but it made the few times that they did hold hands make it seem more friend like rather than romantic, I do agree with that.)
Even towards the end of the game when Ashley asks for Leon for her protective detail, he still turns her down. “You don’t need me.” Rather he encourages her to protect herself.
I think her AI was a bit dodgy at times, it’s so easy to get her killed. Too easy imo. And having her downed all the time was a bit annoying. Even in good playthroughs that I watched, people lost Ashley after she died over something really stupid.
Luis
WE love love love more lore and backstory. The fact Luis helped to make nemesis??? WOW
His banter with Leon and Ada (god I’m hoping for more in separate ways) is SO SO good, and he’s so flirty and unserious at times, which makes his death so much more upsetting. He’s trying so hard to atone for his sins and even from the beginning we can already see he’s very similar to Ada. Wanting to do good despite all the red in his ledger. he wants to make amends in any way possible.
Also Luis has smokes later!! Did Ada remember?? Where did he get the smokes from :’)
The switch from Ada to Luis, saving Leon in that fight made me like Luis more, but also a bit sad that this scene was cut from Ada. Especially since capcom has a habit of favoring their male characters as opposed to their women characters.
Jack Krauser
I initially did not like his voice. It just seemed odd to me, but once I had more information on why the actor decided to go that way. it kind of made sense for his character. That he was “silenced,” in some way so that it actually affected his vocals. His rasp that’s not sexy but damaged sounding.
His design is.. interesting.. I made a point to realize that he looks like a messed up Matt Donovan from TVD, and i can’t unsee that so that’s great LOL
His scenes are a bit lackluster, the only one I really liked was when he showed up after killing Luis.
That man is not straight.
Hunnigan
I do not like that she was basically gone for the entire rest of the game after she loses connection with Leon. She doesn’t even get confirmation at the end of the game if Leon and Ashley are even safe. I felt like they really did her dirty imo.
LOVED her redesign though she is gorgeous
it’s wesking time
I WANT EVERYONE TO GET OVER THE FACT HE DOESN’T SOUND LIKE WESKER. We (og fans) know that Ada is talking to Wesker at her second? scene, and it would’ve been way too obvious to viewers that it was Wesker if he was like MMRHRHAAHWWW YESSSSS IM WESKERRRRR IT’S WESKING TIME KITTENWHISKERSMEEYAEAAHSSS That bit of his voice is JUST enough for me to still read it as Wesker. And the banter between Wesker and Ada.
“Don’t come crying to me when you get bit.” “Control your dog.” OH MY GOD. Ada’s, “He’s a good boy, predictable.”
This also removes the whole fight with Ada and Wesker though. “I don’t play by your rules Wesker,” so I don’t really know how I feel about that, but in saying that, this ALSO fleshes out the relationship between Wesker and Ada. The fact that Wesker already knows about Leon and Ada in THAT kind of context makes me WOW.
Did Ada go crying to Wesker about Leon before? OH MY GOD SO GOOD
I also think his redesign is good, tbh most of the redesigns were UP >>>> as opposed to og re4
The Merchant
Every single playthrough I watched, everyone wanted to kill the merchant and found him annoying lol
He kind of grew on me and I do like his voice even though people hated it because it wasn’t a carbon copy from og re4
whatareyabuyin?
The Enemies
I don’t want to go into every single enemy type so
the ones that scared me the most were Armaduras and the Regeneradors
At some point during the game, the enemies are a bit repetitive but at the end it’s not that much of a complaint since you’re still hit with new enemies a lot.
I HATE THE BUG ONES even though those are the easiest to kill they just scared me randomly the most
“IF YOU CAN MELEE A BUG- IT’S TOO DAMN BIG.”
aeon
now ever since the game came out people have been asking me my opinions on aeon “do i think the ship is ruined?” etc.
Absolutely not. If anything, it helped the ship.
OG re series had Leon be this flirtatious, (often times cringe) type of ladies man, where it kind of doesn’t make sense?
“I’m a one lady type of guy.” Is a complete retcon from og Leon. (This is also since his gf in re2 is retconned in re2r, and his flirting with Hunnigan is also retconned. And he’s outright mean to Ashley a lot in re4r tbh or just ignores her. He’s also a bit rude to Ada (which is actually more justified tbh since he’s angry with her, but he doesn’t have a reason to be mean to Ashley.)
We have to remember that between 1998 and 2004 is 6 years of NO CONTACT FOR THEM. Leon thinks Ada is dead. And he’s had 6 years of trauma, mental anguish and survivors guilt. Which heavily affects Leon and how he interacts with the world. He’s just genuinely a lot meaner. He sees the world as broken still. And when she just shows up alive, he’s allowed to be angry. Instead of having re4 Leon just be like
“Your right hand comes off?” “No THANKS BRO.” He still has some one liners here and there, but he’s not as goofy as fuck anymore. He’s more grounded. (And you’re completely allowed to enjoy re4 more than re4r, that’s an okay opinion to have imo.) I firmly believe that both can still be enjoyed.
Now for Ada we have, is what I believe is what capcom intended for her. She was immediately labeled as “an evil woman,” and nothing else. And capcom wanted to get rid of that idea immediately. “Nothing personal Leon,” she is just doing her job. And in that ending she betrays Wesker as soon as she realizes that he’s going to kill billions of people. She may have a questionable moral compass but ultimately she’ll do what she thinks is better. And she KNOWS THIS. She’s very much the lesser of two evils type when it comes to her work.
“Have you changed Ada?” “What do you think?” She wants her actions to be louder than her words. She never has her finger on the trigger when she first sees Leon. (re2, she never had bullets left in her chamber when she threatened him with her gun)
She invites him onto the helicopter knowing that Leon would say no. She even has the back up with the keys and bear (thank you capcom for the bear) Capcom clearly wanted to show that Ada still wants him, even in ways that general audiences couldn’t see. (Where as aeon stans who played separate ways, and her re6 campaign, already know that Ada tries to save him whenever she can. Same with Damnation. She warns him and does what she can to get away.)
I think the whole banter of “you owe me,” is simply a way to continue their relationship, that there’s a promise of seeing each other again.
I’m honestly not the hugest fan of the whole marvel “WE SAID THE THING :D” because true og fans know that separate ways is Ada’s campaign. BUT it serves for the angst. We know that we don’t see aeon on screen till damnation which is another 6 years but the developers have already stated that their lives continued on off screen as well. That’s where we get the re5 off screen “that night.”
When the developers were remaking the games, they knew that the whole re2 “They fell in love immediately,” and then they said, “that’s not right, there needs to be more interaction first.” Which COMPLETELY goes with where capcom is going with a more realistic interaction of the ship.
The fact that they flipped the “she’s like a part of me I can’t let go,” to “HE’S like a part of me I can’t let go,” is a BIG change for how capcom is interpreting their relationship and expressing it WAY MORE CLEARLY that Ada is interested.
A LOT of people still see Ada as someone who doesn’t care about Leon, which is the furthest thing from the truth. The fact that Capcom felt the need to do the reversal really shows that they always intended for the ship to be mutual. That it was merely their lifestyles and jobs that would make it difficult for their relationship to work. Which is what AEON FANS ALWAYS KNEW.
But this is for outsiders, new fans who don’t have all that information. That the slightest bit of a redemption arc, and VISIBLE hurt from Ada from Leon’s “rejection,” is what people needed to see to see that they are still mutually interested in each other.
Even after receiving the bear keychain, Leon still looks longingly at Ada as she flies away. He doesn’t question her, he simply accepts the fact that their jobs make it so that he can not follow her.
And reminder again we have 6 YEARS to flesh out what happens next.
Overall, I still very much enjoyed the game, I feel like a few things were missing but not entirely enough so that I felt like parts were missing, more like beats were missing. But again, with separate ways, we’ll maybe get to see more of the other side of the story.
gameplay 8/10
story/plot 9/10
characters 7/10
aeon 8/10
overall 32/40
and as leon said it,
“take it however you like it.”

SSR Floyd Leech Bloom Birthday Personal Story: Part 3
"Happy Birthday"
(Part 1) (Part 2) Part 3
Tumblr media
[Octavinelle Dorm – Birthday Party Venue]
Ortho: It's finally time for the last question.
Ortho: “What would you like to do in the coming year?”
Floyd: Haah? What I want to do changes day to day based on my mood, so there's no way I can decide that.
Floyd: So, that means I'm done answering~ We can finish the interview now, right?
Ortho: Of course, we can't! Come on, answer it properly, Floyd Leech-san.
Floyd: Eeeeh, what a pain. Fine, then "I want to do whatever I want without people complaining about it."
Ortho: Ack, you just said the first thing that came to mind, didn't you? …Well, fine, as long as I got an answer.
Ortho: Anyway, so if you're saying you want to do that over the course of the next year…
Ortho: Does that mean that you normally get a lot of people complaining about what you do?
Floyd: Yep, 'specially from Azul. Whatever I do, he's just always got something to say.
Floyd: Like, the other day, when I coated his hat in paint, he exploded, saying, "How dare you do such a thing!"
Ortho: Coated his hat… in paint?
Floyd: Yup. He's always wearing such boring hats, so I thought a snazzier one would suit him better, y'know?
Floyd: I sprayed some black and purple paint into a tub of water, and…
Ortho: Paint, water, and spray… Ah, I had a hit on my search function! That's something called hydro dipping.
Floyd: Oh yeah, I think that's what it was called.
Floyd: I saw some really cool sneakers in a magazine that were painted that way, so I wanted to try it too.
Floyd: That's why I just grabbed the closest hat I saw and tried it out.
Ortho: Wait, but that sounds like it has nothing to do with whether it would suit Azul Ashengrotto-san…
Floyd: I thought it was a perfect masterpiece, but the second he saw the painted hat, he just snapped, saying, "You've completely ruined the chic feel!"
Floyd: He returned it to normal using color changing magic without even trying it on.
Floyd: He said he hoped I learned a lesson and that I should behave, but… There's no waaay I'm gonna listen to that.
Floyd: Next time I think of another fun thing to do, I'll make sure to test it on Azul again.
Tumblr media
Ortho: And with this, the interview is over Floyd-san, good job!
Floyd: Thanks, Clione-chan~ Aaaaah, man, now I'm feeling real hungry. I can't wait to eat the grub at the party.
Ortho: But before that, the birthday boy has to fly the Birthday Road. Here you go, your broom!
Ortho: It has a pretty unique and cool design, with a ton of plants with refreshing colors.
Floyd: Hmmm, yeah, I guess it does look like something I've never seen before. Maybe I'm taking a little liking to this broom.
Floyd: 'Kay, then I'll just zoom around and get this over with.
Ortho: Okay! Have a great flight, Floyd Leech-san. Go and show everyone what you're made of!
Tumblr media
Floyd: Ahah, I'm getting pumped up just by jumping on the broomstick! I'm gonna soar through the sky and spook everyone who's watching!

Eyy, the Asmodeus/Fizzarolli episode is here!
Time to review Oops!
The Good:
-Ozzie and Fizz are wholesome, horny couple goals; Moxxie and Millie have been usurped after the disaster of last episode... (and holy shit, Asmodeus is CAKED)
-Some of the background designs of the incubi, succubi, and fish demons are really cool (I think I saw what looked like a triceratops demon Lady during Blitzø and Fizz's fight, and I love her)
-Fizz and Blitzø's interactions throughout the whole episode are fantastic; Fizz is such a mood, and I stan his pettiness towards Blitzø
-I... don't mind Blitzø's apology to Fizz? It's far from perfect and still full of 'pity me' bullshit, but Brandon Rogers' voice acting was phenomenal during the scene, and the whole self-pity even in an apology does seem in character for Blitzø. But he recognizes and owns that, accident or not, he still hurt Fizz and ruined countless lives, and that Fizz has every right to not forgive him. But that Fizz does, also doesn't bother me? It feels less like total forgiveness and more like the path to forgiveness, which seems realistic (and has plenty of chances for Blitzø to fuck up along the way)
-Fizz is phenomenal disability rep. It impacts him, but like he says, he's not broken because of it
-Some of the comedic stuff in this episode actually got a laugh from me; the whole busting out of the cage sequence was hilarious to me
The Bad:
-Stolas felt completely unnecessary in this episode. His appearance is clearly just to push the 'Asmodean crystal' plot point between him and Blitzø further along, but he doesn't really do anything. He says nothing during the ransom message (even though he clearly sees Striker, the guy that nearly killed him a week ago, as working with the guy who kidnapped Fizz; also, it's only been a week since then? And he's already better? And Asmodeus says nothing about that, but still mentions the club?), he doesn't contribute anything to the negotiation that Asmodeus couldn't have done on his own, and just... Leaves at the end. Completely useless this episode
-Oh Striker... Honey, they're butchering your character so much. Once you were a legitimate threat, now you've been reduced to a "we should somewhat improve society -- yet you participate in it, strange, I am very smart!" skit... And you're portrayed as the bad guy for wanting the change
-Asmodeus... you let yourself get insulted by some random Imp from Greed (one of the supposedly lowest races in Hell)... And go along with his ransom? You're the Ruler of Lust; who gives a shit if Fizz is also an Imp? You said the word and every demon in Hell would've been up Crimson's ass to rescue the partner of a Sin; what would Crimson do? Kill him? That would only assure he'd suffer tortures unimaginable before he was killed. You held all the cards, and you still folded so easily, it's unrealistic and pathetic.
-Also, why pair up Striker and Crimson? It's two totally clashing villain styles that don't mesh well and are totally random (also, does Crimson die at the end? That would be a shitty, anticlimactic way to go, but we only see that Striker survived)
-The song was shit. And it's such a shame, because Alex Brightman is just as great an actor as Brandon Rogers, and a fantastic singer
-Asmodeus' protective possessiveness at the end was... Too much, just on the bad side of toxic. But hey, I guess even the healthiest relationships in Hell are always a little toxic
Despite the bad, I was still entertained by this episode? It felt like a season 1 quality episode, where I could enjoy the good in spite of the bad... But this is 6 episodes into the second season, and I don't think we'll be lucky to have another of decent quality.
But at least Asmodeus/Fizzarolli did not disappoint! Keeping my fingers crossed that the Mammon episode will be even half as good as this, so I can finally abandon this series on a high note. Cuz guys, I don't think I can do it anymore...

LO APPRECIATION:
Okay I know I’ve been bullshitting this whole time with this post my bad. But I finally have the motivation to do it so here we go. I’ve been meaning to introduce you all to this dashing devil ever since I decided to start these appreciations, it’s a crime that I’ve taken so long with him but soon my charges will be lifted. Everyone raise your glasses and welcome Hermes to the new year!
Yes, I’ll be doing Hermes this time mostly because I actually really liked his personality and character. Now, do I enjoy the fact that Rachel made him a borderline pervert? Absolutely not, genuinely believe that that was character assassination so Hades can be the only “good guy” in this story which is ass because he’s not even a good guy. If you need to assassinate every male interest in order to make the main love interest look better than maybe he’s not the best one, that’s all I’m saying. I also despise how he became an echo chamber for Persephone with all of the compliments and holier than thou speeches he now gives about her constantly because it ruined his character completely, we haven’t even seen him in a very long time and we don’t even know if he’s okay all because he was only ever meant to be a side character who was obsessed with Persephone. The shit is stupid and redundant and it’s getting on my nerves how this comic butchers and shuns characters in favor for HxP, like I said if you have to do all that to play up how good they are they’re really at the bottom of the barrel.
Anyway, now that I’ve addressed his flaws I can now talk about what I like about him and his character. One thing for sure is that he has to be the only character with a consistent character design for the most part which already makes him very unique from the rest of the cast and I appreciate that cause it gets tiring seeing everything be so off all of the time. It really confuses me when everyone starts changing colors, body types, hairstyles, and even height. But luckily no one has changed him in a drastic way yet so let’s all be glad about still being able to look at Hermes and say that it’s Hermes.
Next is his fashion. You can argue that a lot of times he’s kinda in his underwear or his sleeping clothes but he always manages to make it work. He has such a great sense of fashion that I genuinely appreciate because I think it’s really fun and carefree which really suits him. I wish that Rachel and her team actually cared about the wardrobe in Lore Olympus when drawing the characters and make it in a way that it’s not just from Pinterest because it just feels like they’re just looking for things that they think would be cute and not the wardrobe of the characters that they created. Like for example Persephone, she wears these weird tight dresses and high fashion clothes even though it doesn’t match her character at all, she’s from humble beginnings and she’s supposed to be innocent and shy so why would she wear high fashion clothes like that since it would most likely draw more attention to herself. You’d think she’d like more comfier and minimal clothes, maybe even flower print? Something that actually represents her and not random women you see on the app. But there’s something about Hermes’ way of dressing that does say a lot about him and I feel like it tells readers what kind of person he is, which is why I enjoy it so much.
Next one is his personality. I love how energetic and goofy he is, I know the main cast is “just like that” but they’re like that in an annoying way. Their goofiness doesn’t come naturally like it does with Hermes, it always feels forced which make everything so stale. But with Hermes he has an amazing balance of when and where to be goofy, like it’s the perfect amount to not make you bored of him and not be annoyed with him which is why so many people love him including me. It’s always stuck with me how he acts and I genuinely think he’s got one of the best personalities in the comic, no one else really rivals him (right now of course since it’s late and my brain is half on half off) which is why I adore his personality so much.
Another thing I love about him is definitely the way that his hair is always so flowy and all over the place yet put together at the same time. Like is it just me who gets so amazed at how his hair is drawn? I fucking love it it’s like Rachel put visual drugs in his hair I’ve never loved a characters hair more than Hermes’ hair. It’s more complex than a lot of the main cast really and it’s so pleasing to look at, not only that but it really gives him even more personality and it fits him. There’s so many hints of who he is that lies in the way his hair is drawn that I can’t even begin to cover it and while everyone else’s hair lacks any volume and personality the opposite has to be said about his hair because it would be a lie to say that his hair doesn’t have a personality of it’s own which makes him even more intriguing.
Last thing is his overall character design. I’ve always enjoyed the way that Hermes looked because I thought it was pretty especially with the red that he’s got going on I think it’s really nice, not too bright and not too muted it’s a nice color to give him I’d say. I was scared though with the later seasons because I saw so many characters, many of them being my favorites, being completely changed and altered which really fucked me up because I felt like they lost all uniqueness and originality from that since I truly believe that character design also tells a lot about a character and their identity so to have their designs change it took away from them everything that made them those characters in the first place and replaced them with uncanny clones trying to mimic what they once were. Luckily though Hermes’ character hasn’t changed too much like I said earlier, it really makes me happy to see it since I think his design is one of the best, maybe even godly (get it? please laugh - joke btw).
Bonus: I love his mom too I’ve always thought she was so pretty, mainly because all of her colors and her clothes everything made sense with her and she also has an amazing character design. Also she’s very very pretty, I would like everyone to know that. It’s completely disappointing that we don’t get to see her more I feel like she was a really fun character and loving mom because of the way Hermes turned out in Lore Olympus (minus the perverted stuff) maybe I’ll make a separate post for her… Spoiler I will no doubt about it.
Anyways this is the end of the appreciation post but surely not the end of the appreciation I and his stans will be giving him of course. I’m sorry for making this long I feel like I rambled mostly but I hope everything makes sense, happy new years!

Embarking on watching all the Batman movies pt 9: The Batman (2022):
This move is a bit complicated, in terms of accuracy. As a Batman movie, I really enjoyed it. There’s a very clear separation between Bruce and Batman, to the point where even Alfred comments “is Bruce Wayne actually going to be making an appearance?” It’s a perfect Batman Year Two, complete with the baggy t-shirt, smeared eyeliner, and awkward not-quite-quippy one liners (“you got a lot of cats” said to Catwoman). We see him purposefully interact with kids a lot, especially towards the end, and we have a lot of the classic internal dialogue which is treated exactly as cringy as it is (“the city’s scarred. Angry. Like me.”).
I also think they added just enough hints of not-quite-entirely-created or fleshed out aspects of Batman. Having the Iceberg Lounge was a nice touch, as was having the memory of Thomas Wayne healing Falcone. There were a couple major changes, and most of them worked fairly well. Having Martha be an Arkham was a weird choice, but paired with making Selina be Falcone’s daughter, it added nicely to helping Gotham feel insular.
Catwoman is fantastic, and I greatly enjoyed having her be so involved with the Falcones. I also quite liked Bella Reál’s storyline. Having a background plot of politics is really nice and it helped flesh out Gotham as a city.
There were a few changes that didn’t fit quite so well. Making Penguin be a normal mobster and part of the Falcones made me wonder how he would advance as the Penguin, and it made him a little less weird and out there.
Similar to that, I do have a fair amount of issues with their treatment of Riddler. Firstly, while making him be a type of villain that is feared in modern times (a white fuckboi Reddit mod), it once again brings up the question “why Gotham?”. It doesn’t make Gotham feel particularly singular, or especially messed up. Furthermore, by turning the character himself into a less (for lack of a better word) bright character, by making him not have the Riddler suit and have his outfit be covering and dark, it really makes him feel like he’s not the Riddler. While I could see the changes being made, with the amount of care that gets put into the Batman character and the Falcone family, it feels very out of place. While it seems like a nitpick, making his name be Edward Nashton instead of Ed Nygma is a great example of this. Ed Nygma is designed to be glaringly obvious, kinda cringy, and very campy. Plus, it fits with a lot of the Rogues (like Julian Day being Calender Man). Additionally, giving him reasonable motive (being screwed over by the crime families) sort of ruins the point of him. You have reasonable villains that exist for moral quandaries (Poison Ivy, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze, Babydoll, etc), but Riddler exists fairly in the black and white. He’s not as cut-and-dry evil as the Joker, but he mainly exists to cause chaos, not to raise good points.
Overall, it’s a very good BYT and a suitably fleshed out Falcone, and in terms of the internal machinations of Gotham it’s fairly comic accurate. Plus, a lot of the shots looked very much like comic panels, which is something I greatly enjoy. I deeply hate the Joker hints at the end, largely because I worry that it will fall into the same pitfalls that The Dark Knight did and will either not adjust him to fit the world very well or over-adjust.

Favorite Ben 10 Aliens
Tumblr media
Still in a bit of a Ben 10 mood and felt it would be fun to gush about my favorite aliens.
The Ben 10 series usually does a decent job of showing each alien's strengths and weaknesses, always making sure neither of them feels more important than the other and giving them all a moment to shine, kinda like a parent that manages to equally love all its kids.
But even with that equal spreading of love and focus, we all still have a few ones that we enjoy watching more than others, and these are mine:
Upchuck
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This dude is kinda hard to explain why I like him so much. I think it's because he just gives a strong "things every boy likes" vibe.
An alien whose power is to eat stuff and then burp them out who looks like a frog and can leap around all over the place with ease while also having four giant tongues.
He's just so gross but in a strangely really fun and cool way, I don't know why, I just like him a lot.
Gravattack
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I love gravity powers. I love the idea of being able to manipulate how heavy or how light something can be and use it as a weapon for combat.
It's basically a more limited version of telekinesis but I'm honestly a bigger fan of characters trying to work around their limitations than just being given some almighty power.
Also like the idea that he's some sort of living planet that has its own gravity, very out-of-the-box.
Wildmutt
Tumblr media
This is one of the few aliens from the show that I would call underrated, mostly because as far as I remember, they never gave it an episode where it saved the day in the classic show.
Regardless, I love Wildmutt. I always like characters with claws or characters who tap into a more feral side, kinda like Naruto when he becomes the fox.
And again, I like how they give it limitations and ways to work around its limitations. Wildmutt can't see but it uses some sort of Daredevil-like sonar to be able to scan the field around it. He's basically Toph from Avatar.
I also just find the design and the sound effects on this thing so cool. The noise from its howl feels exactly as it should, some sort of beastly noise while also feeling like an alien noise.
Ultimate Echo Echo
Tumblr media
Kinda cheating on this one, but oh, well...
This is the evolved form of Echo Echo, a tiny alien that has the power to multiply and release sonic attacks, except now, instead of making copies of itself, it actually releases a ton of small discs attached to its body that release the sound for him.
I'm not sure how they came up with that but it worked really well.
He has a sleek design, an evolution that feels like a sensible step forward from its main theme, and manages to feel compact yet strong at the same time.
Feedback
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ben had a surprising ton of electric aliens throughout the course of the show. An electric yeti, a living battery, a floating jellyfish... A Frankenstein monster (because why not?), but my favorite was by far Feedback.
I think what seels him for me is that, more than any alien, he just gives a big "fun" vibe. Something about the way he's always smiling, how he always tanks enemies' attacks by absorbing them and then sending them back, how agile he is during fights making it look like he's playing around...
Feedback just feels like he owns every scene he's in. It's not just that he's badass, it's that he knows he's badass and is loving every second of it.
Big Chill
Tumblr media Tumblr media
God, this is just such a 10/10 design.
A ghost moth that has ice powers and can rest its wings around its body as if it was a cape like one of the characters of Gargoyles... I don't know who thought of this character but they are seriously not getting paid enough.
I don't know what I can say that you can't already tell just by looking at this thing. You either already love him or you're going to love him once you see it in action.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
His design is literally so perfect that any attempt at changing it just ruins it completely (in my opinion). They tried to give him an ultimate form and in Omniverse they tried to make him larger for whatever reason... And I really don't like either of these.
Big Chill is great just the way he is. No need to add or change anything.
XLR8
Tumblr media
It's a freaking velociraptor in rollerskates. It's such a stupid idea but somehow they made it cool.
That just feels like the kind of thing you would see in a 90's show during the time where everything was "EXTREME!!"
But what I like about Ben 10 is that everything still has that sci-fi alien vibe, so instead of looking like some sort of rejected Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles villain, XLR8 just looks less like some sports lizard and more like another alien species.
Tumblr media
(I still like Mondo Gecko though)
XLR8 is probably one of my favorite takes on the idea of a speedster character.
Small note, before I learned English I couldn't for the life of me figure out what his name meant, and because we had another show at the time with a similar name called "Megas XLR" for the longest time I just assumed "XLR" was some kind of code for sci-fi things that move fast.
Upgrade
Tumblr media
First of all, the Brazillian name for this dude? "Ultra T", which was short for "Ultra Technology."
That was a really lame dub name...
But anyway, Upgrade basically represents the essence of what makes Ben 10 so fun. The same way you would get excited wondering what alien Ben would turn into next, you would also get excited wondering what machine Upgrade would take over next and what it would look like and how it would improve.
Best one so far is probably the time he possessed a clock tower and turned into some sort of helicopter. That was so awesome.
Also like how he works as some sort of Venom suit from the Spider-Man comics with how he just spreads his goo all over the place and turns it into his own by fusing with it.
You could make a whole series about this guy alone. He's such a creative concept!
Diamondhead
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I used Diamondhead clips before when talking about character movement and Geokineses, so you can tell I'm a big fan of his.
His scene where he's diamond surfing through the city remains of my favorite forms of movement for any character ever, right up there with Spider-Man's web swing and Tarzan's tree sliding.
But even aside from that, I just love the idea of a character made entirely of diamonds and able to control it to make weapons like a Fullmetal Alchemist character.
Sorry for sounding like a broken record but... It just looks and feels so cool and creative to me.
They could just have made him be some big brute with an unbreakable body that punches things really hard but they went even further and gave him some really inventive use of his powers.
Heatblast
Tumblr media
And my final favorite alien and probably the most boring pick I could have chosen.
Yeah, it's the fire guy. One of the most overused powers in all forms of media, be it movies, shows, comics, or whatever... There is always a fire guy.
But I can't help it, he just looks so cool!!
He has a body made entirely of solid magma and a Ghost Rider head, he surfs on a comet and can breathe fire like a dragon, he can make Spirit Bombs and Kamehamehas with his flames and even fly with them by bursting himself like a rocket, AND he's voiced by Steve Goddamn Blum, the freaking voice of Wolverine.
youtube
Heatblast feels like he was made in a lab with a blackboard that had the words "Just put a bunch of awesome things in it" written in all caps.
No wonder they picked him to be Ben's first alien, they just started with the best possible first impressions ever!
A great alien to sell you on a great show!

Boopy's dumb thoughts on Pokemon Violet
It’s MY blog – and MY birthday – and I get to talk about the latest Pokemon release over a month after it came out because I want to!!!
Feel free to ignore, agree, disagree, leave your own thoughts, tell your friends you love them, eat a nice meal, etc, etc.
Spoilers for the game! Also not bothered to proofread lol
Ok so I’m gonna start off with the stuff I didn’t like very much. Gonna try keep it brief because I otherwise really enjoy the game and a lot of my takes are common in the fandom
I have seen CGI from 2002 power rangers specials that look better than this game
Frame rate is crunchier than gravel sometimes
Honestly,it’s embarrassing that a game from 2022 looks and runs this badly
Especially since PLA released earlier that year, and while not perfect, it ran much better
SV definitely needed an extra year or two in the oven
I hate how most houses can’t be entered and that most shops are menus
Wish you could pet your mons again, not just wash them
WHY IS PUTTING BREAD ON A SANDWICH SO DIFFICULT
In the options at the start of the game where you’re asked by someone (might be Nemona, can’t remember) what dream you have, why can’t you answer with ‘be a trophy spouse for a hot champion’?!
Steven should cameo in this game (I will NOT debate this)
Really miss the catching mechanic from PLA, woulda worked amazing here
I love that Pokemon is going in a more genderfluid direction when it comes to character customization (and NPCs too)
But I wish there was a skirt option for the unifotms (and not just for the f! mc, for everyone!)
Also the uniforms are so ugly… please let us change out of em soon gamegreak!
I actually… don’t like Penny that much
Out of the trio, she’s the least like a friend
She’s also the least interesting member of Team Star
And she’s kinda mean :/
AI Turo (AI Sada in Scarlet) saying the real one actually loved Arven in the end felt like a complete lie to me – I couldn’t believe it not one bit – ruined the story a bit honestly
Ok, now it’s on to the positive stuff
Wish Miraidon would make a funny honk noise like a clown car
also i have mad beef with ed sheeran so his somg being included was NOT appreciated
ARVEN
Man I just love this guy
Hence why you can now request him!
The enemies-to-best-friends arc is amazing!

My biggest thing abt ppl complaining about the new voices for the main cast is.
Do y’all not remember how Brock Baker was the voice of Stolas in the pilot, and then Bryce Pinkham is now Stolas and is DOING A FANTASTIC JOB AT IT 😤😤 way better than what in my opinion, than Bryce could have done for Stolas.
But we barely know these characters beyond a surface area and we have yet to see their true potential. We don’t even know if character traits or ideals from the pilot will be kept in the actual show! Idk it irritates me a lot that so many people won’t even give the new cast a chance. :(
First, I think what you meant was "what Brock could have done for Stolas" and I completely agree. There's so many emotional scenes that I just can't imagine going over as well with Brock's voice. Not to say he isn't a good VA, just maybe not for Stolas. Plus, his voice is just a little too deep. Bryce is perfect.
Second, for the characters' personalities, that's not how that works. Why would they change? Vivzie is very particular and strict about her characters, so it's incredibly confusing as to why she would change their personalities. Judging simply by the character redesign images, the personalities seem pretty well intact to me. I understand designs will often change from the pilot to the actual, but it's not too often that the personalities change. Especially from a pilot that's already "aired".
Also, if their goals/ideals change...that ruins the whole plot of the show. Can't imagine Alastor suddenly wanting to be pure and helpful with the hotel or Charlie changing her mind about redemption as a possibility.

The Reel Reviews #1
Oppenheimer (2023) dir. Christopher Nolan
by Arcadio Miguel Da Silva
Tumblr media
Warning: Spoilers ahead.
As I am watching the culmination of Cillian Murphy and Christopher Nolan’s cinematic partnership—or should we say, mutualism—that spanned for almost two decades, I can’t help but think that this might have been Nolan’s greatest work yet.
Leaving the theater, I was in a rush to go home, to pour my raw thoughts into paper and have it in perpetuity. It would be ages until I find the time to rewatch this masterpiece and single out on details I may have missed on my first watch. Until now, I find myself itching to see it again on the big screen, over and over again, until I become one with Oppenheimer: the destroyer of worlds.
Three words come to mind as I watched this behemoth of a film: madness, morality, martyrdom. Each word, in my own interpretation could embody the acts and descent of this film.
ACT I: MADNESS
Truth be told, I came into the theater grossly underprepared. I knew it had something to do with the bombing of Nagasaki and Hiroshima at the cusp of the second world war, yet I didn’t know who the major players of the film were. At first, this made me severely confused and almost tempted to catch up on the actual history of Oppenheimer’s life. However, what surprised me in this film was that Nolan was able to ease his audience into what was going on, despite the notorious difficulty of presenting a non-linear chronology to the events of the film. For me, the first act of this film centers on Oppenheimer’s ambition. After all, as a genius physicist who wanted to be the pioneer of quantum and theoretical physics in the US, we could see how much he wanted to be the best at his field. He wanted to be different amongst his peers, coupled with his complicated history as a son of German-Jewish immigrants. I could see why Oppenheimer wanted nothing but to succeed in his goals—even at the cost of his morality.
ACT II: MORALITY
As the stories and pressure converges both internally and externally—Murphy provided us with his most phenomenal acting in his career. The way his acting (and Nolan’s directing) showed the increasing inner struggles of Oppenheimer transported us to be right there; as if we were Oppenheimer himself. Halfway into the movie, we are shown the recklessness of Oppenheimer’s actions, alongside the destructive nature that his ambition has become. This is evident in the scene where we see him struggling with his morality the most during his speech after the two bombings. But the acts of morality and martyrdom were murky, I myself do not know where one starts and the other finishes—it was made to simultaneously corrupt and influence each other in a perfect chain reaction that could either ruin Oppenheimer or change him for the better.
ACT III: MARTYRDOM
To Nolan’s credit, he directs conflict really well; you can understand the feelings and motivations of the characters even without the need for words, which some, if not most directors fail to do so. He took that concept and mastered it completely, so much so, that every actor who worked on this film shined. I felt the grief of Oppenheimer and I could feel the blood in his hands, and I understood why—why he wanted to go through hell, because he knows the weight of his actions, the result of his thirst for knowledge and power.
He knew the consequences, and repent he does.
FINALE
In retrospect, what Nolan failed to do with Tenet, he did with such ease and grace with Oppenheimer. This time, he took the time to be there with the audience, to be inviting and to say—here, experience the life of Oppenheimer as if you were him, as if you were there with him as they built the bomb. The shots and dialogues were masterfully done, alongside the signature Nolan sound design: it was anxiety inducing and ripe with tension and it was everything the audience needed to retain their attention during this film. In itself, it is a struggle to capture the audience’s attention, lest make them squirm in their seats for three agonizing hours. Whatever Nolan did, all I can say is that I truly and genuinely enjoyed seeing this film. I can’t wait to see more of his work in the coming years.
Truly, Oppenheimer is a masterclass in showing the complicated layers of humanity: from madness, morality, and lastly, our self-imposed martyrdom.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (Part 9)
Old ideas, throwing 'em to y'all to give 'em new life if you want to. Click here if you want an explanation that actually makes sense.
I never got really far with this story, to the point where it even still has a placeholder name, two actually. The post-apocalyptic, storm-filled ruins of this tales go by "Storm Clouds", or "One-Man Thunderstorm" if you wanna have a little more fun with it.
Story concepts goes as follows:
“Storm Clouds”
Bunch of floating islands with post-apocalyptic ruins everyone, no explanation provided.
Recurring element of the universe having really weird and dangerous weather patterns.
Core conflict of the story is “freedom vs. control”. For example, the primary antagonist’s motivation will be to calm the storms, but that conflicts with the story’s messages of “you can never make a perfectly safe world” and “sometimes you have to let go of control, and let the world be”
Concept, the weird storms are caused by the primary antagonist / antagonist factions trying to completely control the weather with a failing, pre-apocalypse machine. Resolution is willingly turning the machine off, and letting the storms flow freely.
The storms are probably also magic and sentient, so there’s that too.
Port over “dragons are just sentient clouds/thunderstorms” idea from “Until The Stars Bleed”?
I’m remaking some old characters called Aeros, Shui and Dunia, but it’s a heavy rework so almost everything’s different except for the core spirit of the characters.
“Storm Clouds”, this guy’s probably the closest to his original design, except less “clear sky” and more “thunderclouds” when it comes to his aesthetic. Swap generic fantasy hero for post-apocalyptic punk, and you get the idea, everyone loves a cool leather jacket. Possibly a defector from the main antagonistic faction, possibly has a personal relationship with the primary antagonist, probably dabbles in some amnesia at some point. Also, swap the lightning magic for cloud magic. Misty ~
“Harbour Waves”, we’re changing her from a conventionally beautiful young adult to a middle aged-going on -old lady! Because we deserve to have more old people in media! She’s “Storm Clouds” mentor figure, but she’s not just that because the mentorship goes both ways! Definitely loves to travel.
“Magnetic Pulse”, reworked “Dunia”, we’re also changing this character’s age! No more young adults, only unnervingly hypercompetent preteens! Her powers are now more “Magneto” than “Earthbending” but she definitely still gives off Toph vibes. Maybe an arc that addresses the unhappy reasons why “Magnetic Pulse” had to become so hypercompetent, and her learning how to be a child again.
New side character, “Cold Fire”, this guy steals the lightning powers “Aeros” originally had. Old man who’s really grumpy about everything, on a meta level he kinda feels like a high fantasy character who got ported over to a post-apocalypse and is real disappointed by it. Or he could not be, kinda up in the air.
“Sunny Skies” revamped version of “Atahi”, and the primary antagonist of an old story. Themed around control, wants to use the pre-apocalypse machine to end the “storms” completely, does unethical things in order to achieve that goal.
I like the idea of this villain’s primary motivation being fear and obsession. She wants everything to be “orderly” and “safe”, and the idea that she’ll never create a world truly free of risk and danger terrifies her to the point where she refuses to believe it.
Primary antagonist personality trait, I could easily see “Sunny Skies” constantly dancing on the edge of exhaustion, staying awake for days at a time trying to micromanage (and have perfect control of) every aspect of her villainous faction
Possible symbolic parallel, this is still up in the air, “Sunny Skies” could literally or figuratively be “Storm Clouds’” mother, and constantly tries to bring him back after he leaves/escapes. This eventually leads to some symbolism where releasing control over the storms is paralleled to “Sunny Skies” releasing control of “Storm Clouds’ as a parent
“Sunny Skies” as a foil to “Harbour Waves” where they’re both mother figures, but “Harbour Waves” is at peace with “Storm Clouds” becoming who he wants to be, while “Sunny Skies” wants to control him for his own safety?
Plotline, specific scene. “Storm Clouds” and “Harbour Waves” have been spending the initial part of the story in one location that’s assumed to be “Harbour Waves’” residence. “Storm Clouds” decides it’s time for him to go, only for it to turn out that “Harbour Waves” doesn’t live where they are either, they’re also a traveler, and they’re coming along with him!
I have these wisps of an idea that the thing that finally turns off the storm-creating machine involves “Storm Clouds” sacrificing himself, but I don’t know where that would go or if he would even have to fully go through with it, and wouldn’t get rescued at the last second.
