I'm an amature writer and artist, but can I paint a picture for you? You don't even have to say anything about it, all I ask is that you

don't look away.

There's a woman holding two children's hands. One is standing next to her, crying and whimering quietly. She's looking directly at you, with a not quite accusing glare and a face covered in dirt and dust and her own blood. The other is hidden away on a hospital bed under a sheet. The woman holding the children's hands is their mother and she is screaming, begging in a language I don't understand, but then, agony has never needed words, has it?

Ah, my apologies, that's a rather cruel image, isn't it. Here, let me try again then, just

don't look away.

There is fifteen people in the front of a picture, and many more in the back. Of the fifteen people, five are children. One is a small child strapped to an older man's chest with a baby carrier. A second stands near the same man's legs holding a sign in a language I cannot read. A third and forth stand together wearing matching outfit's and standing together holding another sign in that same language. The fifth stands to the left of the fourth and third. He looks younger than those two, but still older than the second and the first. There's an older woman holding a boquet of flowers and there's several younger women in the photo too. In total, there's six women. There's four men in the picture with them. The caption of the photo is in a language I do know, announcing that they are the Hattab family. In that same caption, it also says that every one of them are dead.

There's a beautiful young woman, with curly hair and nice skin and and makeup on. She's sitting in a well lit library, with her face leaning on her manicured hand. She has long white painted nails. The library in the background is clean and organized, and the woman is also sitting by a window that lets more light into the room. The woman looks a bit annoyed, as if she just had to deal with an especially loud gnat or another equally small thing that she didn't like. There's a caption on the image, it reads "111 days. Impossible to go back to normal." She does not look at all alarmed or scared, or hungry or thirsty, and she does not look hurt. There's another caption on the same image that was written by another person. It reads, "This is how you know that it is a genocide and not a war. One side is being murdered and enduring unimaginable suffering 24/7. The other side is relaxing in cafes complaining about being scared of an undefined threat, in between living their lives as normal. This is not war. It is genocide."

If you haven't guessed by this point, I am not talking about something false. This is written descriptions of images and videos of the current genocide of palestine. I write this as a person who is not of either country, and nor am I in any way related to any person on either side of this war.

I cannot look aside. I refuse to look aside from this. All I ask is that you do the same. Let the world watch, let the world see, and

don't look away.

I saw in a few posts you mentioned wanting to know how to help Palestine. I don't have much, others have compiled better resources, but I hope this helps:

1) Educate yourself:

- Watch documentaries and movies by Palestinians about Palestine ("Jenin, Jenin", "Palestine in the Eye", "Children of Shatilla", etc)

- Read books by Palestinians about Palestine ("The Question of Palestine" by Edward Said, etc)

- Go to the website "decolonizepalestine.com" and read their overview on Palestinian history

- Learn about important historical events in Palestinian history and specific massacres, such as the 1948 nakba, the deir yassin massacre, the sabra and chatilla massacre, and so on

2) Protest:

- Attend protests in your region, if there are any. Look into any that are calling for a ceasefire, an end to the genocide, and end to the apartheid regime, and so on

- Boycott companies which support and fund Israel and the IDF. Specifically, look into the BDS movement and which companies they want boycotted

3) Show support:

- Speak out online against the genocide

- Share posts made by Palestinians that speak out against the genocide, to uplift their voices

- Learn about and appreciate Palestinian culture, history and art

Again, there's a lot more to do and learn about, but these are good first steps I think. Please avoid donating to funds that go to Gaza as the money is not coming in, if you'd like to donate, it's best to donate to organisations that are helping displaced Palestinians in other countries or that advocate for Palestine

You know, when I see the same blogs who were so quick to condemn a Jewish woman now going out of their way to defend a Nazi-loving, anti-Semite, it makes me wonder if they were genuinely offended by what Jenny said or they just hold the same views at the new Mrs Evans. I know I said that I wasn’t going to post anymore about football but something was telling me that I should say something about what happened yesterday and I’m just tired of hearing about happy events get ruined by gun violence. It’s gotten so bad people aren’t even surprised by this violence happening because it’s something that happens everyday and anywhere here in America. What hurts me the most about this gun violence is that these are children that are getting shot or the ones that are shooting. There is way too much hate and anger in this world and the ones that feel those the most are kids. People who are against gun control need to wake the hell up! There are kids and teens too scared to go to school because they are scared they will get hurt. There are parents that are scared to send their kids anywhere because they are scared their child won’t come back. Stranger Things season 4 filmed several scenes — particularly the ones where Jim Hopper is in a Russian Prison — at a concentration camp in Lithuania. The camp in question is Lukiškės Prison, which was turned into a concentration camp by the N***s during the Holocaust and used to hold Jews from the Vilna Ghetto on their way to execution. It’s estimated that at least 75,000 Jews were brutally shot and murdered there.

As if filming in a place where thousands of Jews were executed (which is wrong in the first place) wasn’t bad enough, Netflix and Airbnb have decided to turn those grounds into a fun, spooky experience. They’ve even given the venue a cute and cozy 80’s theme to make sure you forget the actual history of the place you’re staying.

It’s honestly unclear how this idea got okayed by anyone. How do people not understand that mass grave sites are not the place for you to live out your fun fantasies?

To use a concentration camp for fun, spooky pictures is abhorrent. You can’t ignore the very ethics of the fact that you are standing on the graves of people that didn’t even get the decency of having a proper burial.

The idea that Netflix is now turning the trauma of Jewish people into a cute background for your fun weekend getaway is But these concentration camps still hold an intergenerational trauma for those that survived and their children. The camps hold a very real, very painful history that will never go away.

It’s clear how heavily influenced Stranger Things is by the Holocaust, particularly in season 4. In the show, children are taken away from their families, stripped of any and all identifications, have their heads shaven, and are abused and tattooed.

These incidents may seem small if you’re a casual viewer, or not Jewish, but the more you look at it, and the more you look at it through a lens of a Jewish person, or even an ally, these are coincidences that you would be remiss to overlook.

When you consume media, it’s incredibly important to consume it responsibly. There are so many people trying to rewrite history or just simply ignore it so they can monetize it. It’s important to recognize the rising anti-Semitism that Stranger Things season 4 is building on.

Netflix and Airbnb most likely know that they are contributing to the disrespect of the near genocide of an entire people. But it’s our responsibility as consumers to make sure that Netflix knows that we are not okay with this and demand a stop to this disgusting Airbnb venture.

I'm not at all hating on the show. just this matter. Stranger things is an amazing show and has helped you me through so much.

But this has to stop.
