A few things Diluc had lost were the bright hopes and future he once had when he was but a teen who's ready to fulfill as many achievements and dreams as he can.
He could still remember how happy he was with the life he had back then, how he dedicated himself to being faithful with his duties as a detective in the Favonius, Mondstadt’s police department, and used to follow his father around, listening to every word he says as he learns the ways of running the business.
He remembers all the lessons Crepus taught. He remembers his first time making a drink with the ingredients his father provided on a long table. He remembers his first time serving drinks to customers in Angel’s Share. He remembers his first time attending a business event with his father.
He remembers his past too much. A price to pay for dwelling too much in the past.
That Diluc is long gone. All that remains is his shell that’s swallowed by guilt, pain, and helplessness.
He does not live for himself, but lives for his family’s business to continue thriving and succeed like what his father wanted him to do. He lives to fulfill his father's wishes written on an old piece of paper. He lives to make sure his land is safe from the corrupted and from harm.
He lives to deal with the burdens that he gained from his birthday. A special, cruel gift from fate.
Wine is something he didn’t like much, which is ironic for someone who specializes in making them. His father actually planned to let him try some of their famous wines that people loved once he’s allowed to, until something happened.
Wine.. reminds him too much of what happened.
Diluc didn’t expect to lose his father so early, especially since his father is a healthy man who still had a life ahead of him and a son to guide. He thought his father would live long until he died of old age, a peaceful way of meeting death’s doorstep.
If only it weren’t for that treacherous car accident…
If only that drunk driver didn’t drink at all with a darn wine.
For one moment, Diluc was sitting right across from his father in their private van. They were just talking about what Adelaide would cook for dinner, they were just discussing about the client they were talking with earlier, they were just talking about what his father was supposed to say–
Then before he knew it, everything was turned upside down. Literally.
He has a hard time breathing, his vision is blurry as he feels lightheaded from being upside down.
Father…
Diluc tries to get his vision clear and come to his senses. He could hear people screaming somewhere, there’s something that tastes like metallic in his mouth, everything’s hot,  he feels like he’s about to puke– but where is his father?
“Fa…Father…” He calls out. Everything aches so bad, what just happened to him?
Once Diluc finally sees more, he realizes the car he’s in is upside down. Is this… a car accident?
The young heir looks ahead when he hears a groan, and his eyes widens at the sight of his father being in the same situation as him – except, his state is way worse than his.
As for the driver… He doesn’t know where on Earth he is.
“Fa-Father!” He calls out, his fingers shakily try to unclasp the seatbelt before falling down to the ground that’s filled with the shattered windows from the van. “Father, are you alright?”
Diluc tries to ignore the pain all over his body as he crawls towards his father and helps him get out of the van. “Hold on, father. I’ll get you out of here!” He says as he reaches out towards his father’s seatbelt to unclasp it.
“Di..luc? Is that you my.. Son?” Crepus asks weakly, letting out a cough as he falls down from his seat. “I’m glad you’re,” He lets out another cough, “alright…”
“Don’t worry about me, father.” Diluc reassures him, helping him crawl out of the van through the broken window nearby. The only thing in his head is that he needs to get his father to the hospital immediately.
As soon as Diluc and Crepus finally manage to get out of the van, the younger man immediately tries to look for his phone in hopes of calling for the ambulance. Thankfully, his phone is still in his pocket and working despite its destroyed state, and he instantly dials the emergency contact.
“H-Hello? We need help, we’re somewhere by…” As he explains the situation to the operator, the young teen didn’t manage to notice how slow his father’s chest is moving up and down nor did he notice the blood on his hands from covering his mouth when coughing.
When Diluc finally looks at where his father is, his eyes are full of hope that they’re going to be okay.
“Father, help is on their way. We’re going to be okay” He says, hoping his father will be alright and be proud of him for what he has done.
Crepus remains silent.
“...Father?” He quietly calls, his heart sinking when he notices how his father’s chest is stilled. “Father, are you… a-alive?”
Diluc slowly leaned down with his ear on top of his father’s chest, his eyes widening in fear when he couldn’t hear any heartbeat at all, as though he’s….
No, let’s not jump into conclusions.. He’s probably asleep..
The heir gently shakes his father in hopes it’d wake him up, only for his shoulders to sink when his father is still motionless. “Father…?”
It took the ambulance to arrive for Diluc to stop trying to wake up his father, the paramedics carried him away as another inspected the young heir’s body for any injuries to take care of.
Whatever the paramedic told Diluc, he did not pay any attention to it. Not when he’s watching the two paramedics looking at each other with hesitant looks on their faces after putting all of their efforts in trying to bring back Crepus, who remains motionless.
The light in Diluc’s eyes fades away when he realizes what just happened.
He thought this was just a horrible nightmare. He thought he’d wake up to the familiar sight of his room and continue living in his life with his father who’s alive. It wasn’t until he realized he’s in the hospital room when his hopes shattered in realization that his father was dead and gone.
“Breaking News! The infamous wine tycoon, Crepus Ragnvindr, has unfortunately passed away due to a car accident. His son, Diluc Ragnvindr, has fortunately survived from the accident. We do not have any updates on the young heir’s condition, but we can only hope that he is well and we give him our condolences for his father’s passing.”
Diluc finds himself staring at the TV helplessly as he continues to stay on his hospital bed. After the paramedics took him and his father to a nearby hospital, he was hospitalized in a VIP room after getting his wounds treated.
Why did this happen?
He looks down at his bandaged-hands, only for him to remember seeing his father’s blood on his hands.
Why not me?
He suddenly hears a knock, to be followed by someone entering the room.
“And here I thought you’d never wake up.” Kaeya spoke as he closed the door behind him, a bouquet of flowers in his hand. “How are you?”
Diluc stays silent, still staring at his hands.
“...Why am I still alive?”
The red head didn’t bother to look at his sworn brother, who was extremely taken back by his question.
“...Why shouldn’t you be?” Kaeya responds, his tone is more serious. “What happened last night is out of your control–”
“I could’ve done something.” He interrupts, he now looks at the blue-haired man with an unfamiliar expression that wasn’t seen before from the usual brightful man.
It’s as if said brightful man has died with his father.
The blue-haired man dared not to say another word, causing the other to continue speaking. “I could’ve… I could’ve dragged him myself until I found a hospital. Or… Or maybe I could’ve noticed the signs more and performed CPR – but I was busy talking to the operator I couldn’t… I could’ve done something instead of watching him die.”
Diluc clenches his fists at the memory of the car accident. If only he watched his father more carefully, if only he insisted that they went to another place, if only–
If only he was the one who died instead of his father.
He can’t imagine running Angel’s Share on his own nor can’t he imagine being able to keep his family’s business together at this age. He thought his father would guide him all the way – he thought he wouldn’t be alone.
He doesn’t even know if he’s ready to become the next head of the Ragnvindr family.
“Whatever you could’ve done, there’s no point in that anymore when it already happened.” Kaeya says, grabbing a chair nearby and placing it beside Diluc’s bed before sitting down on it. “Father wouldn’t want to see you like this. He’d want you to carry yourself and take care of the family business with what he had taught you–”
“He isn’t here and he’ll never be.” He snaps. “I can’t just move on and act as if his death doesn’t phase me. I lost someone special to me.”
“He’s someone special to me too.” Kaeya retorts. “You’re not alone, Diluc. You have me, Adelaide, Elzer, and everyone else in the mansion who are willing to help you and be there for you. I’m not saying you should move on and act as if his death doesn’t phase you, but you should stop thinking of what could’ve been and think of what could be now.”
Diluc looks away from his sworn-brother, knowing he’s right.
It’s true… It’s better for him to think of what he can do now instead of the past.
“Did you find out who was behind the car accident?” Diluc questioned.
The blue-haired man fell silent.
“What would you do if I said yes?” Kaeya asks, leaning back against his chair.
Diluc took a long while to answer, something that made Kaeya guess his answer already. The young heir – well, the young CEO rather – is not one to sit idly by and let justice handle itself, it’s precisely why he’s such an efficient officer who never lets one case go ignored or incompleted.
So when he finally answered, Kaeya did not believe it one bit.
“Nothing.”
Liar. I bet you’ll suddenly disappear from this room the next day. Kaeya thought. Yet then again, regardless of what he’ll say to Diluc, he knows he’ll only get himself out later on to find more answers.
“I better not receive any calls from the hospital about you disappearing,” He said, letting out a defeated sigh. “There was a driver who crashed into your van. He’s currently imprisoned and will face charges as well as imprisonment.”
Diluc was about to open his mouth for another question when Kaeya lifted up his hand to stop him. “I’m not some person of interest being interrogated. Save your questions for later, focus on your health first.” He clarifies. “I can’t disclose too much about the incident to you since Chief Varka instructed me to, but I can reassure you we have everything under control, brother.”
The red-haired looks at him with an unexplainable expression on his face.
“...Fine.”
And so, Diluc trusted Kaeya, knowing fully well all the words his sworn brother told him were all a lie.
Eventually, he found out that the police suspected it was a drunk driver who drove into the car. However, thanks to the security cameras around that area being disabled due to technical problems that have been ongoing for the past weeks before, it took a while to find out who was exactly the drunk driver that managed to get away from the scene of the crime before the authorities arrived.
What made it more strange was how the person who was driving the van is not the same driver who usually brings Diluc and Crepus around the place. The driver was left behind in the building he and his father  visited, meaning that this whole time, the two men were unknowingly in the same car with an unknown person who has unexplained motives.
Diluc could only guess the motives weren’t pleasant given the aftermath.
Unfortunately, the police weren’t able to find the unknown driver and are still looking for him, making all the things worse for Diluc, who feels like his lifespan is draining away the more he stays in the hospital doing nothing but wait and ponder.
Countless time that’s spent inside the hospital room made the red-haired feel suffocated. His patience is getting thin each time he receives no useful information whatsoever about the damn cause of the car accident that drove his father to death, his overwhelming guilt for being the only one to survive is getting bigger each day after spending too much in his thoughts, and his loneliness began to devour him inside out as the sounds of the TV news were just white noise to him.
He hates that he’s doing nothing.
It would’ve been better if he didn’t feel anything, but at this moment, he’s feeling everything.
Eventually, Kaeya and the others manage to find out who was involved in the incident – an FPD officer in his mid-20s who was trying to move on from a heartbreak, only to end up drinking more than he intended and got into a car accident.
He’s relieved that they finally found who was partially the cause of it, but that doesn't mean he feels like he can rest peacefully.
Not when the other driver is still missing.
It took a few more days until there’s finally more news about what FPD (Favonius Police Department) would do to the drunk driver, but it wasn’t what Diluc was hoping for.
“What…?” He asks for Kaeya to repeat what he had just said from the phone. It felt unreal to hear it – he would’ve thought his brother is joking with him again if it weren’t for the remorseful tone in his voice.
Surely… Surely Favonius did not go mad while he was gone, did they?
“I’m sorry you have to hear this, brother.” Kaeya said. “I couldn’t believe it either. When I came back from the hospital, Amber suddenly informed me that Officer Pallad was released with no charges at all.”
Had Diluc not controlled his strength, his phone would’ve been crushed and destroyed from anger.
“Why?”
“...Lieutenant Eroch informed me it was because there was not enough evidence to prove that he’s the one who was involved with the incident. Don’t worry, my team and I are already looking for more evidences–”
“I’ve waited long enough.” Diluc interrupts before ending the phone call, his eyes darted towards his coat that’s hanging near the door.
It wouldn’t hurt to have a chat with Lieutenant Eroch, would it?
“My deepest condolences for your loss, Detective Ragnvindr.” Eroch said, sitting on his chair as Diluc stood across from him. “Alberich informed me that you were still hospitalized, but it appears he isn’t aware that you’re discharged today. How are you?”
“I’ve been feeling better.” He answers, not bothering to give him a polite smile as he usually does with everyone back then. “May I ask something regarding the case of the car accident?”
Eroch hums. “Getting to the topic, huh? Alright, you may.”
“...Why did you release Officer Pallad?”
It took a few moments before the lieutenant let out a sigh, as though he suspected the young detective to ask such a question. “I may have realized that our officers could possibly have arrested the wrong man after the testimony of Officer Pallad during our interrogation. I cannot let our image as the protectors of our city be tarnished for such a possible mistake, especially since he’s a part of the department.”
“But the evidence is all there, is it not?” Diluc clarifies, not caring about the fact that he could get in trouble for questioning a higher up’s motives. “Alberich found that Officer Pallad was in Angel’s Share before he drove through the route that led to the car accident. He’s the only one whose vehicle has a huge dent at the fr–”
“It’s not enough for us to officially conclude it’s him who crashed into your van.” Eroch interrupts.
“Then what will it take for you and the others to consider him being–”
“Never. Unless you have a clear footage of Officer Pallad’s vehicle crashing into yours.”
Diluc tries not to feel hopeless. “...What about the person who was driving the van? Did your team at least find something about them?”
Eroch shakes his head. “Unfortunately we have not. But that’s none of our concerns at the moment, not when there are other important cases we have to look into.”
The red-haired man feels his hands clenched into fists. “None of your concerns? You’re looking for the two people who killed my father–”
“Tell me, Detective Ragnvindr. Are you here to waste my time telling me to do something I can’t do in a blink of an eye? Or are you here to give me something worth my time?”
The other man stays silent, his mind filled with more questions instead of the answers he wanted.
Why?
It didn’t help that the lieutenant looked less guilty and more bored, something that made Diluc start considering if the police department truly serves to protect the people of Mondstadt.
Eroch lets out another sigh before standing up. “I assure you detective that we’ll quickly let you know if we found something about the culprits, but now is not the time unfortunately. It’s best that you should keep this a secret from the public. We wouldn’t want our reputation to be tarnished because of a reckless officer drinking. If we won’t be able to find the culprits, then we have no choice but to consider–“
Eroch stopped talking when he hears something on his table, causing him to glance down and realize it’s a badge,
The badge that belongs to Diluc.
“Forget it.” The detective said in a cold tone before turning around to take his leave.
The lieutenant didn’t bother convincing Diluc to change his mind, and simply watched as the ex-detective left his office with all hope and faith lost in him.
All that remains is the determination in bringing down what brought his father to his death.
When Kaeya found out, he did not find the power to persuade his brother to come back and work for FPD, not when Diluc isn’t the type to retire from his career as a detective so quickly. Instead, he wished him well and made sure to let him know that he will do his best to help his dear brother out in finding out the culprits of the accident, something that the red-haired appreciated.
The news that Diluc has retired from being a detective spread like wildfire the day after. It didn’t matter what the public thinks, all that mattered for Diluc is that his father gets a proper and quiet funeral that he deserves.
The funeral… It’s hard to talk about it.
The ceremony left an empty part in the poor young man’s heart. Had it not been for Kaeya and those who work in the mansion, he would’ve felt alone. There wasn’t an overwhelming number of people who came to his funeral, but just the right amount of people for others to know how much Crepus was cared for and loved by a lot of people. Some were his close acquaintances in the business world, some were his old pals, some were his dear friends, and some were employees from both the mansion and from Angel’s Share who have been loyal for a long time.
Diluc tried to hold it together and not break down in front of everyone, wanting people to know that he can handle Angel’s Share without his father’s guidance anymore. It still feels unreal that he won’t see his father for the rest of his life now.
I promise father, Diluc thought in his mind as he placed a flower on top of Crepus’s coffin. I promise I will find out who caused your death and will make sure justice will come.
Of course, just because he stopped working in FPD, it doesn’t mean he’ll stop helping and protecting everyone in his nation.
Diluc plans to disappear sometime after his father’s burial, wanting to find out who crashed into the van and who was driving the van that he and Crepus were in. The least he can do is to bring justice to those who are responsible for his father’s undeserving death.
Before that, he must hear his father’s wills as well as a paper that’s written by his father that Adelaide managed to find when she was fixing the passed CEO’s bedroom.
His wills are simple. The mansion, the company, the establishment will now be in the hands of Diluc as he is the rightful heir. Kaeya got some valuable items of Crepus that’ll be of use to his life and his job in Favonius. The rest of the items will then be handed over to both charity and to Alice, Diluc’s godmother.
As for the paper…
It was a letter for both Diluc and Kaeya that the passed CEO managed to write in case he died. Not only did it contain advice and going through the memory lane, it also contained secret feelings and unsaid words that the man didn’t get to say.
One of them in particular is his wish for Diluc’s future.
“...I fear that I might not make it to watch you grow up into the man who has a life ahead of him, and it breaks my heart to imagine you reading this if I died too soon. My son, your journey will not be easy if I’m no longer here, but I know you can get through this. You have people who care for you as much as I do and I know they’re all happy to help you with the troubles that can come in your way. I wish you nothing but happiness and safety in your life, so please, do not mourn for me forever and move on in a healthy way. Do not burden yourself with what you could’ve done, instead, accept that you can’t change the past and only learn from it.
If fate decides so, I hope that someday, you’ll meet someone who you consider as your equal and the person you want to spend the rest of your life with. Treat them with respect, understanding, and love like I did with your mother and I hope they’ll do the same with you. Don’t concern yourself with what the public thinks and what I would think. Just know that it’ll make your old man happy if you’re going to spend the rest of your life with someone who makes you happy and feel cherished. (the rest of the letter is blank, making it evident that Crepus hasn’t finished it completely for unknown reasons).”
Diluc didn’t know what to think when he read it, he could only close his father’s letter and keep his words to his heart.
Now that the wills have been revealed, Diluc and Kaeya have no choice but to come visit Alice – who’s currently in Liyue for her next book about the region – to transfer some items for her.
“My deepest condolences for your loss.” She said, watching as Diluc sat down on his seat across from hers as someone filled his drink with tea. Unfortunately, Kaeya had a call from work and won’t be able to come inside the room to talk to the woman. “It saddens me that your father has to go so soon. How have you and Kaeya been?”
“Thank you… We’re doing well, Aunt Alice.” Diluc responds.
The woman smiles lightly. “That’s good to hear.. I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t found those who are responsible for the… accident. But you must know, revenge won’t do much for your grievance towards your father.”
The red-haired man tries not to look surprised, but stays silent, causing Alice to continue.
“I know it’s difficult to lose someone who guides you in your life. Partings are the most painful things, but they also encourage us to grow. A bird that has lost the roof over its head will fly further than others of its kind.”
She then lets out a chuckle. “But of course.. I know you wouldn’t be persuaded by my words, so I wish you still have your sense of good and justice on your journey to look for them. It’s not an easy task I bet, but I’m sure you’ll be able to catch them with your capabilities.”
The woman’s eyes gazed towards a bulletin board on one of the walls before looking back at the young man. “Should you be able to find the culprits, then you can try to go out and see the world afterwards. That’s the best course of action I can envision for you. Only by feeling, observing, and listening can your heart be healed. Everything that was your father now finds new life with you, that which you will experience in this world may have been things that your father experienced once upon a time.”
When Diluc looks at the older woman’s eyes, it screams nothing but good things for him and Kaeya.
Something he never thought he needed until now.
“...Thank you for your words.”
“Anything for you. I hope that the wind will bring you all manner of wondrous things in your many journeys to come, Diluc. Should you need a person to talk to or consult with, I’m always willing to lend an ear. I hope you won’t mind if I treat you as if you were my own child.”
It only took two days for Diluc and Kaeya to deal with the rest of the items that once belonged to Crepus while catching up with Alice before they decided to take their leave. Not only did they both have to go back for their jobs, but Diluc also had to go back to start his search in finding the culprits of the accident.
Before the two young men could leave the estate Alice lives in, the woman stops them for a moment.
“One last thing before you two go.” The woman then pulls out two items: a pocket watch and an earring with a blue jewel in it. “These belong to your father who left these with me back then. I think it’s best if you have these instead.”
Diluc hesitantly grabs the pocket watch while Kaeya grabs the earring, letting out a comment about “what a perfect timing this is, I was thinking of a good accessory to buy as a souvenir from Liyue.” causing Alice to laugh.
“Thank you, Aunt Alice. We wish you well on your journey as well as your work.” Diluc said politely.
Alice waves them off. “Have a safe trip, boys. Do tell my darling Klee that I said hi when you get back, alright?”
And so, the two men left.
As they’re on their way to the airport, Diluc stares down at the pocket watch Alice gave him, his mind filled with what’s to come for him once he comes back.
He can’t turn back now, not when the two drivers could potentially hurt someone else.
“You’re planning something, aren’t you?” Kaeya asks suddenly, causing the red-haired man to look up at his sworn brother.
“...What’s it to you?”
The blue-haired man lets out a chuckle. “Oh Diluc, I thought you’ve learned by now that I wouldn’t let you do things on your own, have you?”
He lets out a sigh in response. “I don’t need your help. This should be something I must do on my own–”
“You’re finding the two culprits who are responsible for our father's death, so I too want to take them both down with you because they deserve to go to jail for their crimes. Besides, you’re no longer a detective in FPD, the least thing I can do is to hand out some information that’s given to us, particularly the one that involves the mysterious driver that managed to get his hands on your van.”
His eyes slightly widened from hearing that. “...There’s info on the driver now?”
Kaeya hums. “It’s not much, but it’s worth reading it since I’m sure it’ll help you with your investigation. Feel free to ask more about the case, it’ll definitely take some work off my shoulders if you somehow find that driver. I’ll take care of the aftermath once you do”
Diluc stays quiet for a moment.
“..Fine, you can hand it over to me anytime. Just.. make sure to keep an eye on Eroch and his men.” He says.
The blue-haired crosses his arms. “Who said I don’t? That lieutenant has been suspicious since day one. I’m relieved Deputy Chief Jean is quite determined to investigate him and see if there’s anything suspicious.”
Jean…
“You mean Gunnhildr?” Diluc asks, raising an eyebrow.
“Yes. She recently transferred to the department thanks to Chief Varka. I caught her skimming around the lieutenant's office while he was gone.” Kaeya then smiles. “You should try talking with her. Isn’t she an old friend of yours?”
“We weren’t close.”
“Still. I’m sure she’ll be delighted to see someone who’s just like her in the department – besides the retirement – and is familiar with her personally.”
The red-haired man thinks about it for a while.
“I’ll.. Think about it sometime.”
“Perfect.”
By the time the two men are on their way through the airport, Diluc finds himself immersed in his thoughts about his plan in going around Mondstadt to look for the culprits who are responsible for his father’s death. He was so distracted that he didn’t pay attention to how there are paparazzis lingering around nor did he realize that he was about to bump into someone until it’s too late.
“Sorry.” He mutters to the person he bumped into before continuing his way towards his plane. He failed to notice how a certain item managed to slip out from the pocket of his black and long coat.
Until he hears someone calling him.
“Sir!” The stranger called, causing Diluc to stop his tracks for a moment and turn around to see if the stranger was calling him, only to spot someone walking towards him with a familiar object that he stared at moments ago.
“You dropped this,” you said, showing him the pocket watch, “sorry again for bumping into you, by the way.”
Diluc’s eyes slightly widened, a bit stunned by your kind act. Had it been anyone else, they probably would’ve kept it with them..
He slowly grabs the watch from you. “Thank you.”
You give him a smile and nod in response. “It’s no problem”
Without another word, you immediately ran off from Diluc, as if you didn’t just get the chance to meet Mondstadt’s two most famous men.
“My, I’m surprised they didn’t know about us two, Diluc.” Kaeya spoke in amusement, watching you go away. “You’re lucky they gave you that pocket watch. I’m not sure what would happen to you if you lost your father's watch after he just died.”
Diluc’s expression quickly changes to a glare, looking at Kaeya’s direction. “Watch your mouth before I make sure you’re not going to my private plane on our way back to Mondstadt.”
The other laughed. “I’m rich too, Diluc.”
The red-haired man then turns around. “We should go before we start wasting our time. The sooner we get to Mondstadt, the better.”
“Whatever you say, brother.”
Diluc didn’t hesitate to start his search immediately when he arrived in Mondstadt.
Unfortunately, after Pallad was released from the department cell, the vehicle that had a dent was immediately returned to him, so there’s a chance that it’s gone by now.
Despite being accused of reckless driving and a culprit of a car accident, Pallad still had the audacity to come back to Angel’s Share – not that the CEO is complaining, this definitely made things easier for him.
It’s already an alarming sight to see the officer using a new vehicle.
For the rest of the night, the young CEO listens attentively to Pallad’s conversations with other customers who are familiar with him. There wasn’t any useful information until someone finally asked the officer about his car. Apparently, he got himself a new car because his other one is too old and not functioning well, making him give it up in a car graveyard.
That was all the information he needed.
It took a while when Diluc finally found the graveyard that Pallad owns with the help of some of his connections (one of them being Kaeya, who told him the details of what the car looks like). It wasn’t hard to find the car Pallad used since he only gave it up recently, but it was hard to hold himself back after seeing the officer’s car that clearly has a huge dent despite seeing it for the second time.
He will never forgive that drunkard for killing his father.
Diluc was at the very least relieved when he spotted a dash cam inside the car. The officer must’ve been confident enough to not consider deleting footage of his dash cam, thinking it’ll be destroyed thanks to the graveyard. Unfortunately though, the dash cam was broken from possibly the accident, so it took a while to restore the footage until the ex detective got his hands on the piece of evidence that Eroch will surely not reject.
After the repair, Diluc sent it to Kaeya, who would pass it to Chief Varka and drag Pallad back to prison at last.
All that’s left was the unknown driver.
If it weren’t for Kaeya’s help in giving him information, Diluc wouldn’t know where to start. The only information the Favonious Department found about the culprit is they’re a part of an organization called the Fatui, based on a blurry CCTV that contains footage of someone in a Fatui uniform infiltrating the parking lot where the Ragnvindr’s van is and was never seen coming out.
The Fatui… Just hearing that name made Diluc feel angry.
They’re not an unfamiliar name in the business world. They’re known for being dangerous, powerful, threatening, and not to be underestimated. A woman who owns the company, Tsaritsa, is the most powerful person in all of Snezhnaya. People in the cold region respect her and look up to her for her contributions to the country, particularly the advanced technology that she invented. Those who aren't from Snezhnaya look at her in the opposite way.
Crepus and Diluc are those people.
He’s heard of what they do to those who have wronged the company as well as the things they can do to those who associate with them. It’s a miracle that the Ragnvindr hasn’t interacted with them at all (as far as the young CEO knows at least..), and as the new CEO, he knew he had to keep it that way.
Now that he thinks about it, just what did Crepus do if Fatui is responsible for his death?
Diluc isn’t sure if he wants to know the answer.
But he knows he has to. He has to understand why this happened to his father and where the driver ran off to, even though he’s fully aware that he won’t be able to grasp the full truth of the story.
He then considers Alice’s advice: to travel around Teyvat. The Fatui is everywhere in the world, so he plans to go through every single one of them in each nation until he reaches Snezhnaya, where he’ll try to confront those who hold the higher ground of the Fatui and hopefully learn the truth.
He hands over the Dawn Winery business to Adelaide, Elzer, and Kaeya and informs them that they can always reach him through messages. He trusts them all that his family business won’t sink and will remain as strong as ever, so he isn’t worried that he’ll be contacted to come back to Mondstadt to fix a situation.
“How long will you be away?” Kaeya asks as he watches his brother pack his items in his luggage. “I’m not sure how to tell everyone about your leave, what should I answer if they ask when you’ll come back?”
“Tell them I’ll be back in due time.” He answers, focusing on thinking about what else to bring for his travels. “I can’t… guarantee when I’ll come back. This won’t be an easy trip for me.”
“Of course not, not when you’re taking on the Fatui.” The blue-haired said, his smile begins to fade. “Just… make sure not to die while you’re at it. I can’t attend another funeral again.”
“No promises.”
The two of them then fell silent. The only noise around the room is Diluc placing his necessities in his luggage.
“...Could you at least talk to Miss Jean once before you leave?” Kaeya asks.
Diluc lets out a sigh. “Why are you so insistent on me talking to her?”
His brother lets out a chuckle. “Don’t get me wrong, brother. I’m simply convincing you to talk to her about the FPD. She has more information than anyone else in the department and might be a great help to you, trust me.”
Kaeya wasn’t wrong about that. “Fine, I’ll consider having a chat with her if that’ll keep your mouth shut.” He said with a huff.
Kaeya smirks. “Good. You can thank me by giving me a free drink in your establishment if you end up getting good information out of that hangout.”
“In your dreams.”
–
With the help of Kaeya, Diluc was able to contact Jean and see if she’s willing to spend some time with him, only for her to instantly agree and invite him to a private restaurant where they won’t be disturbed.
“It’s an honor to be able to meet you, Mr. Ragnvindr.” Jean said with a polite smile as she and Diluc sat down on their seats across from one another, the server pouring water on their glasses before handing out two menus and taking his leave. “I hope you didn’t have a hard time finding this place, did you?”
The red-haired man shakes his head. “No worries, I didn’t have any difficulties. How’s your… day?”
“I’m relieved you didn’t have any hard time, and my day has been a breeze, thank you.” She then lifts up her cup towards her lips. “If I may ask, what brings you to spend time with me today?” She asks before taking a sip of her drink.
He lets out a sigh when he remembers his brother. “Ah… You should thank Kaeya for that. He’s been nagging me to come and talk to one of my colleagues before I take my leave.”
Jean’s eyes widened. “Oh, you’re leaving?”
He nodded in response. “I’m planning to… travel to some places. I won’t be back for a long time, so I’m sure a lot of things will change by the time I return.” He explained.
“I see… I understand, you need something to get your mind off of everything.” She says with a sad smile. “I hope you get something out of your trip, and may the wind lead you to the closure you needed.”
He processes her words. “...Thank you.”
Something flashes through Diluc’s eyes, and the atmosphere turns serious. “I hope you don’t mind, but I would like to discuss something regarding… something about a certain PD.” He adds.
Jean stays silent for a moment, also turning serious.
“...Is this related to the reason why you’ve asked for a chat with me?” She asks.
Well, she isn’t wrong about that. Diluc was already considering meeting up with Jean as soon as Kaeya told him about how the woman had her eye on Lieutenant Eroch as soon as she was transferred for reasons unknown. There’s no doubt that there’s something amiss in the police department given how sudden her transfer was, and it’s related to the lieutenant who shrugged off the case of his accident.
Could he be the one behind his father’s death perhaps?
Diluc feels a little guilty for talking to the woman simply because of how she has the information he wanted. “Yes. I understand if you’re not willing to talk about it.”
Jean shakes her head reassuringly. “No it’s alright. I have a feeling I know where this is going now.”
She then looks around cautiously before whispering, “we are talking about Lieutenant Eroch, right?”
He nodded. “Correct. I heard that you’ve been skimming around his office.”
“You must’ve heard it from Mr. Alberich then.” She says with a light chuckle. “He’s the only one outside of the operation who knows, your brother has my deepest gratitude – if anything, I would’ve been easily caught by Lieutenant Eroch and make the situation worse if your brother tells him.”
“What’s your purpose there?” He asks.
Jean taps her fingers on the table, careful of what to say. “Let’s just say the lieutenant has been way too suspicious lately. Too suspicious that it caught the attention of a certain chief.”
“And the certain chief requested you to personally investigate it?”
She hums, looking down at her drink. “I suppose it’s for the better since we’re not sure who’s on our side, hence why I was transferred to the Lion of the South Department (2).”
“You came from the Falcon of the West Department, correct?”
“Yes. I was actually supposed to come to the Lion of the South Department in a year, but it seems Chief Varka has other plans.”
Diluc chuckles. “He’s one unpredictable man, indeed.”
Jean then looks up at the man. “Is there.. Something you want me to do?”
He crosses his arms. “There is. I take it that you haven’t found anything from his office?”
She shakes her head with a sigh, only for Diluc to continue his words. “Then you should look on the rooftop.”
She furrowed her eyebrows, now curious. “May I ask why?”
“The lieutenant’s always up there if he’s not in the conference room and office.” Diluc says. “I’m sure a man like him wouldn’t go to the rooftop for view-watching or some peace and quiet. You should check if there’s something that’s hidden in sight.”
Jean nodded slowly. “I see… Thank you for this, Mr. Ragnvindr.”
“Please, you may call me Diluc.” He says. “I’m sure this won’t be the last time we’ll interact and talk like this.”
It’s safe to say he’s right, this wasn’t the last time he’ll be interacting with Jean.
He’ll admit, she’s good to cooperate with. Not only did she take note of his advice, she also made sure to give a piece of her mind in return.
He feels relieved, knowing that someday, the FPD will have yet another reliable and great chief who’ll lead them once Varka steps down.
As soon as their hangout came to an end, both parties were satisfied with the information they gained. They both agreed to keep in touch with one another through texts so Jean could update him about Eroch (and hopefully something about the Fatui should the Favonius find out about something), thus exchanging each other’s numbers before taking their leave.
Afterwards, he began his journey to travel around Teyvat in search of the truth.
He supposedly wanted to stay in Mondstadt to investigate them, but knowing the possibility that they could be watching him given that he didn’t die from the accident, he instead decided to make it his last resort.
Of course, he kept in touch with Kaeya, Adelaide, and Jean, who all informed him of updates regarding Mondstadt, the wine establishment, and the FPD. There were many good news to hear, such as how Kaeya became even more famous after a particular case where he found many children who were missing, how Angel’s Share is still the most sought-after establishment–
The one news that made him relieved is how Lieutenant Eroch has finally been arrested for many countless crimes committed, but unfortunately, none of the crimes were involved with the car accident.
He also learned how Chief Varka and a couple of officers were sent to a classified mission, which resulted with Jean becoming the current Chief of Police while he was gone. Meanwhile, Kaeya also became the lieutenant of the FPD, claiming he’s now “oh-so busy after my dearest brother left me here to rot with these never ending cases.”
In a blink of an eye, four years have passed.
There was never a moment when his determination wavered, his passion is as strong as an eternal flame that never goes out. He never fails to remember why he’s doing this and why he must finish this journey, reminding himself by remembering all the memories he shared with his father.
Sometimes, he goes back to that time when Crepus died. Trying to remember if there was a single detail he must’ve missed that could help him make more progress with his investigation, only to bring back the pain, helplessness, and guilt he tried to suppress.
He took down most – if not all – that involved the Fatui’s dirty work, brought down those who are as evil as they can be and exposed them in public, and even fought them with either his own hands or with a weapon should the situation resolve in.. an inappropriate manner.
Because of this, he’s now considered a threat who shouldn’t be underestimated.
Throughout his trip, he once helped a few people who have the same motives as him, such as a woman from Liyue’s government – the Qixing – whose against one of the members of the board of directors in the Fatui, a young CEO in Inazuma who disapproves the Fatui, a man who holds an important position in Teyvat’s most prestige academy and also has something against the Fatui for reasons he didn’t disclose, and many more.
However, the most notable person he came to work with is someone who introduced him to a secretive network. If it weren’t for them, he would’ve been killed in Snezhnaya by the Fatui.
Despite how far he has come, Diluc never encountered Tsaritsa – besides some of the board of the directors, who all have anything but good intentions towards him. This doesn’t mean his journey all came to fruitless of course, not when he learned so much from traveling around the world and encountering other people.
He looked past his progress from his journey, and after a lot of thoughts, he decided to join the underground intelligence network, where he put all his dedication in it just as he did in the FPD. Not only did he rise up into the upper ranks of the network, he also gained even more useful information about the Fatui, such as how Officer Pallad’s involvement with the accident has nothing to do with the Fatui, causing the driver to run away from the incident since the van is destroyed.
He also finds out from the network that Fatui can’t touch certain people such as the Tianquan, the Chief of Police, some families, and even certain CEOs of companies who are too valuable in their nations. He also gained new comrades – most of whose pasts are left behind and go on with the future like the wind.
Perhaps he too, should stop looking back with the past and not think about all of what could’ve been anymore.
By the time his journey had ended, he had a conclusion.
The driver is still unknown, but he knew the order came from either the board of the directors, the chairman, or the CEO herself based on certain documents from each branch that mentioned the Ragnvindr name. The possible explanation is that Fatui wanted to  burn down the biggest supplier and the company who has unmatched wines in Mondstadt, whose nation revolves around wine and freedom.
Not to mention how everything will turn out worse should he face the Tsaritsa with ill intentions. Given how the Tsaritsa is one of the most – if not the most – important figures in Snezhnaya, only Celestia can tell what will happen to Diluc.
He also realized that when he comes back to Mondstadt, he is still just as unsafe as he was during his stay in Snezhnaya.
He started thinking: what if he loses everyone he cares for? What if his brother gets taken? What if his dedicated and loyal employees get hurt? What if he somehow falls in love with someone, and they get hurt because of him?
This led Diluc to believe that it’s for the best that he tries not to get too close with anyone anymore – let alone fall in love. Hence why he isn’t usually found with people around him, besides those who work for him or want to work with him in the business world of course.
If he wants to be safe as well as protect those who he cares for, he must protect Mondstadt and become stronger.
When he finally returned to Mondstadt, everyone was too busy talking about the latest mystery of the nation, aka the person responsible for the crime rates suddenly going down and for dragging criminals to the FPD’s doorstep before the sun rises. No one suspected it was the CEO of Angel’s Share – not when he just came back from his journey (in reality he actually arrived back a bit early but went undercover for a couple of days before announcing his comeback).
By day, Diluc stays in his office doing his work by signing and approving documents, inventing new beverages, and sometimes serving in Angel’s Share if the days are quite slow. By night, he strolls around the city when everyone’s asleep, looking out for anyone who’s in possible danger as well as anyone who’s possibly a threat. He makes sure no one was followed or stalked, no shops being stolen, and no houses being invaded – it honestly reminded him of his old days as a detective back then.
To Diluc’s relief, there were no actions from the Fatui towards him ever since he came back to Mondstadt – unless you consider the few Snezhnayan merchants who’d come to the wine tycoon in hopes for a partnership with their business. Of course, that doesn’t mean he’s less cautious and less guarded with his surroundings.
This went on for the next few years. It’s the same cycle as always besides the special occasions and events he attended to: wake up, get ready, do paperwork in his office, check on his vineyard and think of new drinks to make for his establishment, visit Angel’s Share and help Charles if possible, go back home, start his patrols around the city, go back home and repeat.
He didn’t mind how nothing’s changed much. As long as he’s doing what he can, he’s content with his life.
Fast forward, Diluc was recently invited to attend the Grand Goth Hotel for the wedding between Hiiragi Chisato and Kamisato Ayato. Unfortunately he had no one who could be his plus one since everyone is busy, so he thought he’ll just be all alone, something he grew used to and didn’t mind thanks to his four years of exploring around Teyvat.
Then he met you.
He bumped into you due to him being distracted by his call with Kaeya. He realized his mistake for not apologizing quickly, but when he turned around to look at where you are, you’re far from his reach.
He thought that was the end of it, until he saw you again in the souvenir shop hours later. He felt like you looked familiar when he first saw you in the shop, and perhaps you must be feeling the same way as well from how you’ve been staring at him like a hawk. However, when it’s revealed that you’re only staring at him because you remembered him bumping into you, he felt… taken back. That’s the reason why you’ve been staring at him?
He was even more taken back when you were quick to tell him how he was so rude for not apologizing to you. He’ll admit, it’s sort of a refreshing sight to see someone who isn’t so timid or nervous around him and isn’t afraid to scold someone for their errors no matter who they are. Nevertheless, he didn’t hesitate to apologize for his behavior – and when he found out you’re also a guest in the wedding, he was even willing to pay for your wedding gift if you allow him to share, something you reluctantly agreed on after checking its price. In a way, this is his payment for what you’ve done for him back at the airport (though, he wasn’t aware that you’re the same person that gave him his father’s watch at that time).
The next time you meet was in Good Hunter’s, whereas he overhears your conversation with who seems to be your group of friends. He didn’t bother listening to it, until he heard his name being mentioned.
When you explained how you don’t like him because of how rude he is, he felt taken back once again. Were you really that hurt from him bumping into you? Well, his shoulders are broad and must’ve hit you quite harshly if he wasn’t careful at that time, so he can’t blame you for thinking he’s rude for that.
But then again, he thought buying those champagne flutes for you was enough…
Turns out, it is enough.
It was strange how he keeps seeing you these days, especially this particular day. Almost everywhere he goes, you’re also there. It was quite an interesting  situation, he thinks.
However, he knows that he shouldn’t get close to you. He swore to never be close with anyone anymore (with the exception of his loved ones) and you cannot be an exception. That’s why he has to make sure he can’t meet you again, for you and his sake.
Yet despite his oath, he still finds himself getting involved with you – especially during one of those encounters when he sees you in a rather uncomfortable situation.
He recognizes the two men talking to you as being the members of the Kamisato family. He would’ve mind his business if it weren’t for how you seem to be in need of help,
And Diluc is not someone who ignores such a situation.
So he comes over to where you are, acting as if he was looking for you despite a part of him telling him to not go and help you. Fortunately, you caught on to what he was trying to do and played along to his lie, something that the other two men fell for and decided to leave you two alone.
He’s not one to pry into someone’s life, but he wonders what the Kamisato has done to make you so distraught and sad. Instead of asking, he simply kept his mouth shut and offered you his handkerchief, and you reluctantly grabbed it from him.
The gesture made him finally realize why you’re so familiar to him.
The incident was years ago, but he’ll never forget you giving him back something precious to  him. He really can’t imagine what would’ve happened if he lost one of the things that belonged to his father. He isn’t sure if you remembered it, but it didn’t matter, because he finally repaid his gratitude to you.
After comforting you, he eventually found out that you indeed had forgiven him already, causing him to feel a bit embarrassed that he’s been thinking that you still haven’t forgiven him.
As soon as you enter your hotel room after what happened, Diluc realizes that somehow, this wedding no longer seems to be as lonely as he anticipated it to be.
You became a familiar sight for Diluc from then on as much as he didn’t want to.
The next time you meet is in the bachelor party, whereas the two of you started to get to know each other more. You’re pleasant and smooth to talk with, and there was never a moment where the two of you felt off with your conversation despite some differences with opinions and ideas – at least, that’s what he feels – and bonded a lot on how you two have a lot in common.
You’re not afraid to speak your thoughts and even laughed at some words he said that were unintentionally a joke. Even though you now know of his achievements and reputation, you still treated him the same, which is something that made him feel pleasant. Even more so when you praised him for being such “a cool multitasker” as you watch him make drinks and serve them throughout your conversation with each other.
He can’t help but be reminded of his father, and yet for some reason, he didn’t feel remorse from that.
He’d never thought he’d click with someone, let alone having a conversation that could last forever, like he did with you. Interacting with you feels like he doesn’t have to be so uptight and has to keep up with the formalities – especially after convincing him that he doesn’t have to do so – and he’s free to say his thoughts.
When you decide to stop your conversation for a moment and excuse yourself to go to the bathroom, Diluc tries not to show the disappointment in his eyes and words. It’s strange to him, why is he so disappointed? You’ll come back anyway just like you said.
As he waits and waits, he earns himself a new company.
Kamisato Ayato is… One secretive and mysterious man. It’s not something Diluc is suspicious of, really. If anything, the two of them have a few things in common, such as their shared determination in protecting the people they care for, their shared experiences of being the CEO at such a young age, their shared experiences of losing their parents–
As well as messing with the Fatui.
Diluc isn’t so surprised with the fact that the other is aware of his dangerous situation with the organization, but he was surprised that the groom had to send him a warning about being careful with how he spends time with you, who is still in the bathroom doing only Celestia knows what.
His warning alone made the bartender wake up from his daze, and he faced the reality he had always hated.
You can’t be involved with someone like him, a man whose hands have been dirtied and committed things that he dares not to explain.
Once you’re entangled with him, you’ll simply be yet another person he has to protect from the Fatui and the burdens of only simply being his friend. Although he’s more than capable of dealing with the Fatui, he knows that spending time with you will only make things hard for you.
Not to mention how people would react if they see you spending time with Diluc, and only Celestia can tell how drastic the rumors can be once this spreads around, so Ayato is indeed right, he should leave you alone.
He does not acknowledge how such thought aches his chest deeply.
Still, he knows that ignoring you wouldn’t do anything but cause problems, so he tells himself that it’s up to you if you still want to spend time with him.
And it seems you do, especially the next day after that.
The CEO was surprised to see you entering Angel’s Share, especially since the wedding is today. What surprised him more was when he realized just how much he missed you – or talking to you rather.
What a strange feeling…
As he continues doing his job, he can’t help but observe you from afar; a habit that he does at times during his shifts here whenever an unfamiliar customer visits the establishment but unlike everyone he observes, he doesn’t observe you out of suspicion that you have something up your sleeve. You looked like you’re enjoying your time with your few friends, something that made him quite happy to see (even though one of your friends is someone who’s rather a hassle in his establishment when he feels like it).
He feels all the more pleasant when you decide to chat with him for a bit as though you’re old time friends, not realizing that he may or may not have slipped up a few words that he didn’t really mean, making you assume that he’s just there for the wedding to serve his finest drinks.
It’s only a matter of time until Diluc realizes what he was doing, especially when he finds himself looking at your way unintentionally. You just look so out of place in Angel’s Share in such a good way that his eyes are drawn to you, like how a moth can’t help but be captivated by a shining light.
It comforted him to see you being relaxed in his establishment – be it because he’s happy to see his customers satisfied or because you’re happy – and he wanted to let it stay that way, especially when he has a few guesses on why you were saddened whenever the groom of the wedding is around.
When he catches on to the fact that you’re also staring at him, he can’t help but feel conscious about himself, thinking about how he mixes his drinks, how he positions himself by the bar, or how he talks to his fellow customers politely, he wonders what you think about what he’s doing even if it’s the simplest of gestures.
…Is this really something friends think of about each other?
By the time it’s time for you and your two friends to leave in order to get ready for the wedding, Diluc couldn’t help but feel disappointed, wanting to say more to you but couldn’t.
However, when you take one more look at him while he’s staring at you as well, and give him an acknowledged nod with that smile of yours; he knows the two of you will eventually talk again and catch up once more.
For some reason, he’s looking forward to the wedding more than ever.
By the time he makes it to the wedding, he was a bit surprised to see that the ceremony hasn’t commenced yet. His surprise instantly disappears when his eyes land on you, who looks as though you’re looking for someone. Could it be him, he hopes?
Thankfully, luck was on Diluc’s side. Seeing how there’s one more seat that’s empty beside yours, he slowly makes his way over to you to sit on that empty chair. When he sits down, you instantly look at him and your eyes brighten.
Him noticing you being excited from simply seeing him made the wine tycoon feel.. Something. Important? Valued? He isn’t sure anymore, he’s at a loss for words when it comes to you.
Truly, this must be something friends have sometimes.
As he watches the wedding ceremony commence, he can’t help but feel as if someone’s watching him from behind. This caused him to cautiously turn around for a bit, only to find the father of the bride glaring at his direction, but not at him it seems.
He then realizes that the father of the bride was glaring at you.
Diluc couldn’t help but feel protective, internally taking note to watch the current CEO of the Chisato company should he plan to do something to you.
When the wedding went on to the reception, it seems luck is still on Diluc’s side. When he arrives at his assigned table by looking for his name displayed on the seats, he spots your name on the seat that’s next to his once again.
It made him feel relieved, knowing that he won’t be sitting next to those who would most likely talk to him in hopes of gaining opportunity to have the CEO’s attention and support in their businesses and whatnot.
When you find out as well, you’re pleasantly surprised, but nevertheless happy with the arrangement. If anything, it gives you a chance to continue your previous conversation with your friend!
Throughout the party, the two of you bonded more and are closer than ever. Diluc really couldn’t recall when’s the last time he had a conversation like this. It really feels as if he could never get tired of talking with you and won’t run out of topics to talk about.
His highlights of your conversation are the times when you laugh at his words, when you listen to him with an awe look on your face, and when you talk so passionately about the things you love.
Diluc particularly admires how you talk about your beloved nation, Inazuma. You talk as if Inazuma is your child, and you’re a parent who’s proud of it. Not only did you tell him the things that you love about it, but also showed him just how much you missed your home with the longing look on your face. Considering how long you haven’t visited the nation ever since you went to Liyue, he can understand the feeling.
Someday, he’d like to go there with you… Maybe then you’ll be happier than you are now, and he wants to see that in his own eyes.
After you explained all there is to know about Inazuma, Dilic then shares his own words about his nation in return. He talks about the things that he thinks you might like about his land, only to find that you love everything about Mondstadt and explain how much you love the place, telling him how you’ve always wanted to go to Mondstadt because of its carefree nature and kind people. It was something that Diluc isn’t surprised by – he’s used to many foreigners he had talked to telling him about how wonderful Mondstadt is – and yet, he feels his heart warming hearing such compliments about his home from you.
While he was explaining though, he can’t help but notice how you’re somewhat.. distracted, as if your thoughts drifted off to something, causing him to feel a bit concerned. Are you bored from his explanation? Did he say something wrong? Or.. Is it because of Ayato?
When he asked you if you’re alright, you only responded that you’re distracted by the sight of the garden that surrounds the open-air room. He wasn’t convinced obviously, but seeing how you don’t want to admit the real reason, he knows not to push you for it and respect your privacy.
However, asking you somehow got him to spend time with you in the hotel’s garden.
Diluc could see why the garden is one of the hotel’s best spots for guests. It’s as magical and peaceful as what most people described.
And yet, he can’t help but think that this place is all the more magical and special when you’re here with him.
“It’s so beautiful..!” You comment in pure awe. If you at least glance at where Diluc is, you would’ve realized that he isn’t staring at the view of the garden that is indeed beautiful.
“Indeed.” He quietly agrees, his gaze never left you.
Diluc feels his shoulders sinking a bit. Friends don’t think of each other this way, don’t they?
As the two of you stroll around the garden, Diluc covers topics regarding the flowers that surround the two of you and about other things, all the while you listen with great eagerness.
It was only when he started talking about his first drink when he realized something.
How long has it been since he talked to someone about his father? Let alone his past?
Was he really that comfortable talking to you to the point where he’s willing to share the things he never thought he’d talk about with someone?
He was sincerely taken back that he didn’t watch his step and accidentally stumbled from a bump on the pathway.
…How embarrassing!
His thoughts from before instantly fade away, replaced by how embarrassed he is from the situation he put himself in. It was impressive how you managed to pull him back from falling, had it not been for your strength, he would’ve been even more embarrassed from falling down to the ground completely.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the only embarrassing incident that occurred between the two of you. One thing led to one another, and suddenly he finds you hugging his arm out of fear from the sudden appearance of your plus one.
Diluc felt like he was frozen the moment he felt your touch on him. He didn’t know what to do really, especially when you’re holding onto him as if your life depends on it. It was only by the time you let him go when he felt like he could breathe, watching you walk away first to get back to the venue.
Despite letting him go, he still feels the ghost of your touch.
It seems the night is still young for you and Diluc.
After the reception, the two of you proceeded to explore around Mondstadt City together to hang out more. But this particular night brought the man to something more than just a hangout.
The more the both of you continue to spend time together, the more Diluc feels more confused, maybe even worried, about his thoughts and feelings towards you. He doesn’t know who you are to him if not a friend. If you’re indeed just a friend, then why does he feel like it’s more than just? If not a friend, then what?
Deep inside, a small part of him already knows the answer to his worries and thoughts.
So when he sees you talking with someone who interrupted your hangout with him, an unpleasant feeling creeps up on him, especially when it turns out that the stranger is someone you’re familiar with.
He hasn’t felt jealous for a long time until now.
Just the thought of you being with someone else made him feel unpleasant, and he isn’t sure what to do with it. He could only watch as you happily chatted with Heizou, his mind clouded with conflicts and realizations.
Diluc realizes that his feelings towards you are something serious. This isn’t a mere admiration and fondness that will go away in a blink of an eye, but the kind of admiration and fondness that made him want more.
What hurts is that he knows he can’t have that. Not when his life is too complicated to have the happiness he wants to have more with you, not when his life is as dangerous as it can be to have the peacefulness he wants to share with you, and certainly not when he’s sure you don’t feel the same feelings that he feels for you.
Yes, Diluc finally admitted it. He wants you to be more than his friend. He wants you to be more than just someone who he sees on a daily basis, but someone who he sees when he wakes up to another day, someone who he sees when he’s all dressed up with gifts for yet another memorable date night, someone who understands him more than he understands himself, someone who he kisses goodnight before sleeping away next to each other, someone who he will cherish with all his heart without hesitation,
Someone who he loves just as soulmates do.
But he knows that it’s far out of his reach.
What hurts more is how the two of you won’t be able to see each other soon, and none of you are sure when you’ll be able to.
…It’s for the best, he thinks.
The morning after, he received a phone call from Kaeya.
“How was the wedding? Any juicy drama that I should know of?” He asks.
“It was… not bad.” He replies. “I made friends with someone.”
“Wow, there’s actually a person who doesn’t mind Mr. Grumpy? Let me guess, it’s that foreigner you bumped into, isn’t it? ( Name ), right?”
Diluc lets out a sigh, already knowing where this is going. “Yes, it’s them.”
“Ohoho, now I’m curious to know more about them. You better introduce me to that friend of yours when I visit there.”
His eyebrows raised up in surprise. “You’ll visit here today?”
“Yeah, I’ll be able to come to the hotel today to congratulate the couple. Don’t keep your new friend away from me when I get there, yeah?”
Diluc scoffs. “As if they would want to be involved with someone like you.”
“You wounded me! Who wouldn’t want to be involved with the person who grandmothers consider as the top candidate for grandson-in-law?”
“Whatever you say. Don’t try to get lost in the streets.”
“Ugh, that was only one time – and in my defense, I was drunk. See you there, Diluc.”
And just like that, the call ended.
Diluc puts his phone down with a sigh. He prays that Kaeya actually does get lost and won’t be able to see you. Only Barbatos knows what that man is going to do if he ever finds out about his feelings for you.
Unfortunately, that was today’s least of his concerns.
He can’t help but notice how a few Fatui members have been around the hotel lately. Usually he ignores them if it weren’t for how.. often he sees them today. Is it perhaps related to a certain higher up who wants to buy the hotel?
Or.. is it related to a scheme he has yet to know about?
He thinks about it deeply to the point where he even spaced out a bit while talking to you in the garden as you wait for your friend.
He eventually finds out what the Fatui were up to when he decided to contact one of his associates in the underground network.
“The people you’ve been seeing are under the security branch of the Fatui, so it’s evident that someone must’ve hired them for something they’re planning to do that needs to be under wraps. We’ll let you know if we happen to find out who’s their employer and whether or not you should intervene.” His informant tells him through the phone as Diluc continues to stand around the lobby waiting for Kaeya, eyeing on the Fatui guards carefully from afar.
He didn’t have to wait for long on who’s the employer of the Fatui guards.
As soon as he kept his phone away after the phone call, he noticed the father of the bride walking around the lobby with a couple of the Fatui following him. He raises an eyebrow at the sight of the guards walking in a certain formation as though they’re surrounding someone–
Only for his heart to drop when he sees you among said guards.
What are they doing with you?
He then remembers how Shinsuke was glaring at you at the wedding ceremony back then, causing him to conclude that it must’ve been related to whatever’s going on with you and Ayato.
He didn’t hesitate to start following them in hopes of getting you out of there safely, only to lose sight of you when a lot of people suddenly entered the lobby.
He quietly curses at himself in irritation as he tries to walk through the busy crowd, hoping that he’ll still be able to see you once he’s out of there.
When he doesn't see you, he feels like he’s about to burn this place down.
Please be alright, he thinks as he runs around the lobby like a madman, looking at every hallway to see a glimpse of you or your captors who seem to have more than just ill intentions towards you. It feels like he’s back in the incident where his father died as he feels the same thing that his younger self felt. Helplessness and fear of losing his loved one.
Fortunately, it was only a matter of time when he spotted the familiar Fatui guards standing in front of a door, holding what appears to be the very same bag that he saw you carrying at the garden earlier.
He didn’t hesitate to go towards where they were, causing the guards to notice him at last and be alerted.
“Sir, you’re not allowe–”
“I don’t care.”
As minutes passed, not one single person among the busy crowds in the lobby noticed the unconscious guards around the secluded hallway, with a tall man standing in the middle of the aftermath of his anger.
As soon as Diluc finishes dealing with the Fatui guards, he immediately grabs your bag before reaching out to the closed room to open it.
His heart drops at the sight of Shinsuke’s raised hand towards you.
Hold yourself, he orders to himself, not wanting to throw hands towards the man who was planning to hurt you, who seems to be frightened but relieved to see Diluc.
He puts on his calm facade. “Was I interrupting something?”
It wasn’t hard to get Shinsuke out of the room and get you to safety, by the time he did, his heart breaks at the sight of you being all shaken up from whatever the older man did to you before he could arrive.
This is an example of what will happen if they’re with me, Diluc thought as he tries to comfort you. He knows that even though your situation right now has nothing to do with him, you’ll get more situations like this if you’re with him, making him realize that even if he’s not an engaged man, he knows he still can’t have you. Not when it’s a risk to even be with him.
He just wishes you to be safe and happy, but it hurts that it’s not something you’ll get from him.
That’s why when you mentioned the airport, he felt sad from the fact that he won’t be able to see you after a while. By the time this wedding is over, he’ll go back to the same cycle he lived with ever since he came back to Mondstadt. He won’t be able to wonder what’s to come for him tomorrow, what topic you’ll be talking about with him, and he certainly won’t be able to see you at all for only Celestia knows how long.
He then wondered if you two will ever contact each other after this. As much as it sounds selfish of him, he didn’t want that to happen, not when he feels this content with you. There’s no one who could laugh at the jokes he unintentionally makes, who would tease him enough to make him a bit flustered and smile, who could talk with him about anything for hours on end,
There’s no one out there who’s like you.
But he knows that he can’t make you stay, not when you have your own life to live.
Perhaps… Perhaps things can be different if the world is safer. If his life isn’t as dangerous as it can be thanks to the Fatui, who dared to lay their hands on you for the sake of a greedy man such as Shinsuke.
Maybe… If fate allows so, maybe in the future, when things possibly change for the better, then perhaps you and Diluc could be something more than friends.
It’s just wishful thinking though.
He didn’t hesitate to take the opportunity to come with you to the airport so he could personally bid you farewell. To his relief, you were happy to have him coming with you as well as reaching out to him once you come back home.
He wishes this week could last forever.
Hours later, he finds himself staring at the ceiling while lying down on his bed. Meanwhile, Kaeya is on his own bed that’s next to his while applying skincare on his face as he rants on and on about whatever’s going on around the FPD.
He wonders what could’ve been if his life wasn’t so complicated and dangerous. He wonders what could’ve been if it were you who he gets to call his spouse and the one he gets to consider as his partner and equal. He wonders what could’ve been if he wasn’t such a coward.
He wonders if you think of him the way he thinks of you.
.
.
.
You realize that suppressing your feelings is not the way of moving on.
Love hurts. Thinking of the past hurts. You realize that Diluc is just someone who helped you with your confrontation towards the past you so wanted to forget because of the pain it brings, but he’s not the one who can completely help you heal.
By the end of the day, it’s you alone who can heal yourself.
You knew that you can’t admit your feelings to Diluc just yet, and you know it’s best this way – after all, you still have to take time focusing on yourself first now that you took a big step from your burdens.
You just hope that by the time you’re ready to deal with being in a relationship, you wish that person who you’ll be with is Diluc.
You find yourself lying down on your bed as you scroll through your photo gallery, finally looking back at the memories that you shared with Ayato, with your friends, and with yourself. It’s been so long since you’ve looked at them that you almost forgot some of the moments that made you happy.
It took a while until you finally decided to call it a night, turning off your phone and placing it on the nightstand next to your bed before trying to sleep.
You hope you’ll be able to see Diluc again and spend time with him one last time. Maybe you two could go eat at Good Hunter’s together, take another stroll around the hotel’s garden and talk about Inazuma’s flowers this time, or even–
Ah, you feel so in love.
You let out a quiet dreamy sigh with a smile, excited for what’s to come tomorrow.
Now that you mentioned Inazuma, you couldn’t help but wonder when you’ll be able to visit your homeland again..
You close your eyes. Perhaps Ei won’t mind if I request for a transfer someday.

Ace Info Compilation part 17: Ambition
As a mirror-image to the hardworking Deuce, Ace is constantly trying to get out of tasks or complete them as fast as possible, even deciding to give up on getting a magestone from the mine during the prologue (“I’ll happily take the expulsion if it means never having to fight that things again…You want that stone so bad, go get it yourself. I’m out.”).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
During Book 2 he seems interested in working towards a spot on Heartslabyul’s Spelldrive team (“I feel bad about what happened to Trey, but if there’s an opening on the roster…I’ll take it.”) and expresses interest in getting into the tournament for real, but when working with Jack proves too much of a hassle he says, “I don’t even care about makin’ the stupid team” in a pattern of being quick to give up and change his mind.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
He auditions for the VDC in Book 5 on the basis that, if they get on team, they will “be excused from all the back-breaking work of putting the venue together,” on the assumption that the competition will be the easier option. (Shortly after he changes his mind and announces he has “a powerful urge to drop out.”)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ace has various lines about sleeping in class, ditching class altogether and skipping difficult processes via magic, copying people’s homework and much more.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ace may be particularly impatient with Heartlsabyul’s rules, painting only the fronts of rose trees (“The housewarden won’t be lookin’ at the backs of the trees. All I gotta do is slather the parts he’ll see.”), calling the dorm’s supplemental rules “crazy” and saying that the training camp for the VDC will be easier than life at Heartslabyul.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It seems that Ace was not looking forward to Halloween as much as other students, saying, “I was of the mind that walking on eggshells around a bunch of random for seven days straight would be kind of a pain,” but he appreciates how they get less homework.
Ace says that while he doesn’t hate school, “it woooould be nice if it didn’t exist and I could just kick back.”
Deuce has a voice line about evading his duties and being irresponsible.
Ace tries to tease Deuce about being required to take a remedial alchemy lesson with Crewel and is baffled by Deuce’s excitement for the opportunity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In his birthday vignette Ace explains that he’s never really had any ambitions or goals for the future (he has a voice line of “My dream for the future? Sorry, I got nothin’. I’m just not the kind guy who gets all gung-ho about ‘reaching for his dreams’.”), which ties in to his wish during the Wish Upon a Star event: as he didn’t have a specific goal in mind, he uses it to wish for Grim to stop causing trouble.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ace’s penchant for ditching out on his responsibilities comes back to bite him during Vargas Camp when he decides to leave the task of foraging to Floyd in order to “just find a nice spot to chillax” on the camp’s very first day.
Ace disappears for two days, and while Jamil is suspicious, Vargas is not worried.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jamil observes, “I have a hard time believing that shame is preventing Ace from coming back. Since when does he even have any?,” but no one seems particularly concerned after Vargas dismisses the possibility that he is in danger.
At the end of the event it is revealed that Vargas caught Ace skipping out on his assignment and had had him doing nonstop squats in a cabin the entire time.
Floyd is not pleased.

being in love with MJF headcanons:
Tumblr media
✨friends to lovers✨ dynamic - may you be aware of it or completely oblivious just as Max is, this thing would be going on from and for forever. slow burning, pining and bittersweet. you'd possibly be childhood friends. the kind of friends that met by chance, maybe during a class assignment or at a b-day party, and just stuck together. but you might as well have met recently, the bond between the two of you would be the same.
you'd be the kind of friends that finish each other sentences as you speak.
you'd order each other food just because you know exactly each other taste.
one of you would message or call at the same time as the other is checking their phone only because you tend to think about the other, or miss them, at the same time.
no one ever wants to play the mr & mrs game with you because you two are annoyingly unbeatable. and you always team up. like always. even when you are with someone else.
you rock at giving each other the best presents. birthdays, christmas/hanukkah, random events, they are perfect every time. there's no competition. if you had been involved with someone else at the time, this particular event had caused problems in the relationship. no partner likes to be outshined by the person who is supposed to be "just a friend".
on this note, in his private life, Max is absolutely terrible at remembering dates, events or even appointments. unless it involves you. not that he had been involved much, but when he had been, something like this would never be easily forgotten or ignored by his partners.
you spend so much time together. like an impossible amount of time. you are so used to it that you move around each other's houses like it's your own. not only that, in each other house you've got a spare toothbrush, phone charger, some clothes and your favourite pillow - just in case. you've got each other spare key and the freedom to drop unattended.
you are so used to spending time together being apart for more than a few days is painful.
and with Maxwell's job happens often.
but you get invited to follow him as often as possible.
you are his number one supporter, of course, always. and you must enjoy wrestling just as much as Max does. you have to be careful saying you've got other favourite wrestlers though, especially if they are Max's colleagues in AEW because he can be jealous.
he is jealous regardless.
never once he liked one of your partners and every time it wouldn't work out he would arrogantly say "I told you so", offering one of his cocky smiles, never realising no relationship ever worked for either of you because you were basically involved with each other.
see the thing is, Max is completely emotionally unavailable. He is totally terrified of getting attached to people, which makes him a prime example of the avoidant type - which makes him a walking red flag.
he stuck with you though.
your friends don't like him. they know your relationship with the guy isn't healthy but trying to get you away from Max is impossible.
his friends, instead, adore you just cause they can tell what you mean to him. but getting him to realise as well is impossible - he's just dumb and blind.
and it goes without saying you are basically part of each other's families.
it's tradition for you to spend the holidays with Max's family and more often than not, whenever there's a family gathering, you are also invited.
he has definitely brought you as his plus one at more than one wedding or bar mitzvah.
ever since you danced to fallingforyou, by the 1975, that has become your song. you both listen to it thinking about each other. but you're just friends.
everyone knows you are completely and desperately in love with each other, but you got so good at pretending you were only friends you had no ears for any of it. both of you.
you'd be the kind of friends that are actually a couple in everything but the sexual aspect of things.
he is that kind of guy. he likes to fuck around without getting involved. that's the way he likes it. every relationship he had has been brief and without strings.
that's the way he feels safe and in control.
you know well about all of his conquests and are extremely good at hiding how much it hurts that his choice, in the end, is never you. you are only friends after all.
he doesn't consider the possibility of being attracted to you. not because he is totally unaware of the fact that deep down he is, but because getting there with you would possibly mean ruining what you have.
as already noted, he is big, dumb and blind.
he'd never admit what he feels for you because the fear of being rejected petrifies him.
and you wouldn't do anything to change it either because of a similar fear. to lose him would mean to lose your sun.
you are the kind of friends that hold hands and cuddles, even in public. Max often has his arm around your shoulders and you, naturally, have your hand in the back pocket of his pants. in crowded places, where sits run low, you sit on his lap with ease and zero embarrassments.
you are even used to kissing each other on the lips. not so regularly to be something you are used to, but it is not uncommon either.
you had never fully made out though, that falls into sexual stuff.
you don't do it often. it's generally more of a goodbye thing you do when you know you won't see each other for a long time - just in case.
it all started as a bet someone had thrown and both of you were so stubborn to prove to be just friends you did, in fact, kiss.
And then you kept doing it. softly though, like keeping a secret.
deep down you both know it means something. it leaves behind an undertone of guilt and desire that you both can't shake.
but you are just friends.
a/n1: these headcanons are g/n and can suit anyone. it is absolutely compatible with mjfxadam cole if you like. because it's so totally canon you can't tell me otherwise but i've decided to focus on mjfxyou in general.
a/n2: i've dreamed about mjf and this dynamic last night and couldn't take it out my fucking mind all day. had to write it down. I can't afford to fall into another fanfic - even when this could totally be one and I am cheeky and I've left out all the best parts - but I also do not have time to throw myself into another project and I'm notorious for struggling finishing fics :')
a/n3: don't ask me what this brainrot is. I do not know. don't hold me accountable. sorry about the typos. as I said my brain is rotting away. bye ✨
a/n4: i've fallen into another fic - this is now happening, find it here

Y'know, I didn't talk about it that much when it first came out, but it is so sweet to see some more content of Yoosung enjoying his life as a vet.
Tumblr media
I think it's kind of understandable that it's often overlooked, since it wasn't as much of a focus on his route. By comparison, we do know a whole lot about hia love for cooking, and he actually shares this passion with us many times during the game. Therefore, seeing him suddenly become a vet can feel a bit out of pocket for the player. I wish we had a bit more content on that particular aspect of his. To expand on it a bit more than what we already have in canon. Even his previous birthday events and CG's didn't really mention it. The only content we do have is his Valentines dlc and his after ending. Which isn't all that much. Yoosung's image is probably one of a student, gamer, or adorable cook when you think of him. It'll be nice if his career choice as a vet fit into that category, too.
That said, I looove to think about all the potential details of this time in his life. It's also very sweet to see MC helping him out with some of his duties. After the events of his route, I always see his dynamic with his MC as very supportive and reliant on one another in things big and small. Like MC bringing him lunch to work, or Yoosung picking them up from their place of work/study in return. You're a team, and you work as a unit. So it is very cute to see it in action!
I like to think that Yoosung is the type of vet who tends to spoil his patients, sometimes to the extreme. Deciding to arrange a spa day for them was probably his idea too. Just because one of them just happened to need a bath on that say. So he figured, why not treat them all to new shiny coats and relaxing massages!? Participating in this chaos was only agreed upon by MC, of course. It's impossible to tell me otherwise - these two are a well-known power couple in the clinic.
Or, it's possible that this is their idea of a date on the weekend. It's easy for me to see that, particularly if his MC is a huge animal lover!
Being a vet can be a very stressful and demanding job. Yoosung has to deal with many unfortunate losses and pains caused to innocent animals who didn't do anything wrong and their loving owners. So it's probably such a huge source of positivity and motivation for him to just relax for a few hours and have fun with a bunch of furry patients. Focus on the lighthearted sound of laughter between him and his lover and happy noises of mischief from some rowdy pets. The sight of their wagging tails and slow blinks is a significant reminder of the reason behind his actions. And to have his partner there with him... Well, that's just a cherry on top of the cake!
They better not take any selfies after that, though, because with this many furry participants, they'd be covered in fur for sure. It won't make Zen and Jaehee very happy to see it in the chatroom.
Of course, they still do so anyways.

AND FINALLY HERE IS A SMALL MASTERPOST FOR THE HELLSPAWN WALKER SIBLINGS!!
I present to you, Jenna and Ethan :DD
(also since you asked to be tagged, @alizibtheterrible)
(pssst, here are the ref sheets for these kiddos)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
-
before I get into anything, here are my timelines in this AU:
2 years between moto and season 11, atleast 5 months between s11 and s12, 5 more months between s12 and s13, 4 months between s13 and the island, a month between the island and s15, canonically a year between s15 and crystallized, 2 years between crystallized and the merge, 5 years between the merge and the events of DR
and jenna and ethan's ages during these times:
jenna: a year old during s11, almost two years old during s13, turned three a while after nya left, four during crystallized, six when the merge happened, and 11 in current time
ethan: a year old when the merge happened, and 6 in current time
I..know it's probably confusing, but I can attempt to explain more if you don't understand!
my fic for these two is currently being rewritten!!
and now, time to ramble abt the kids!! (warning, VERY long)
their full names are: Jenna Edna Lilly Walker and Ethan Ed Raymond Walker (you can guess who was named after who)
jenna was born just a year after moto, and ethan was born also a year after crystallized!
and from that, the age difference between them is 5 years
jenna inherits jay's powers, and ethan inherits nya's
ethan has ADHD and lacks good social skills due to being surrounded by only 2 people for most of his childhood, while jenna has anxiety, trust issues and some slight ptsd
oh and I can't forget to sprinkle the t r a u m a on them both
they have a good dynamic and bicker normally like siblings always do, but jenna sometimes needs to have her alone time and hates when anyone bothers her so she can snap at any time
while ethan is sensitive and cant control himself, especially if he sees someone distressed, but if he himself is the distressed one either no one should even come near him or he needs a genuiene hug or encouraging words from someone
I'm not sure when jenna will get her powers and will get her true potential, but until I figure it out, she gets her potential when she saw a certain someone in danger (kinda placeholder!!)
she didnt have control of her powers much at first, but would soon learn its abilities
and when ethan gets his powers, it doesn't go smoothly at all due to nya having been turned into the sea, so all the sudden power is..quite a painful experience without control
his true potential? realizing his worth and saving his sister from danger
I don't have exact birthdays for them yet, but the placeholders for now are may 23rd (jenna) and october 8th (ethan)
when they got a bit older, jenna decided to dye some streaks of her hair blue (and one time had a pixie cut), ethan didn't take any creative liberties with his hair but would sometimes style it when he's bored
jenna was named by jay, and while nya had wanted lilly she didnt mind and just she told him ''as long as you don't name her nya junior I won't throw you off a building"
lilly in the end was just given as a middle name
want a fun fact? jenna was the one that named ethan, the moment she saw him in his little blanket she just kept shouting "ethan! ethan!"
jenna always had a love for mechanism, while ethan would break a tv just by staring at it
tbf he does kind of have an intrest, but he finds it boring and just likes how it looks, but he is fairly good at it and just needs help
and jenna has a HUGE obsession for drawing and painting, while ethan likes cooking and is declared 'the gordon ramsey of the walkers* by jenna lmao
Jenna: dude please just open your own restuarant at this point Ethan: for the love of the fucking fsm Jenna-
jenna's special nickname is JJ! long story short, it was at first a shortened version of 'jay junior' that was actually a joke but then it became her actual nickname lmao
jenna is aroace and will go by she/they in the future, while ethan goes by he/him and will come out as bi!
jenna was attached to both her parents but felt closer to nya, especially after seabound
she'd watch her and jay in the sam x cave for ages
never remembering nya nor jay, ethan was wary of nya at first and tried to stay close to jenna but the moment she hugged him? he felt safe and knew it was right (shoot I'm kinda spoiling the reunion uhh)
jenna says she has no favourite uncle, but it's secretly cole and only he knows that
and she bullies kai, even when she's not ordered to do so by jay 👌
she does have a good bond with all of them tho!
jenna, in dragons rising, is 5'0 and will stay that height for a while until she hits a sudden growth spurt at 13 and is literally 5'6
and she'd be 5'9 at 16
happens with ethan aswell, he's only 6 so he's about 3'8 which is average for his age, but he'll keep growing taller and taller and he stops growing once he reached 5'8
The Forest Of Walkers(tm) as a moot of mine once quoted (we both hc jay to be very tall, finn I am looking at you)
and yes, that small part of the drawing of them walking is them in the future, I have no exact design yet and just wanted to throw that in bc of the free space lmao (I will post their future designs tho trust)
fun fact: when me and my friend were still planning what jenna and ethan would be doing after the merge, instead of staying with lloyd they had ended up with sora and arin
in this au, maya and ray are a tad closer to nya than they are in the actual show, they visit regularly to check on her, jay and jenna (soon ethan aswell)
both them and ed and edna SPOIL HER TO DEATH. they'd gladly take jenna any day
..which actually happened, seabound stuff :")
from the way all the ninja grieved, it was extremely lonely for a 3 almost 4 year old kid, especially with how everything happened so suddenly and how she can't yet process grief well, she only had cole who'd stay with her alot when she wasn't at her grandparents
even at their places it felt gloomy, but she loved to distract herself when she'd be in the junkyard by helping ed collect scraps and build with him (when her love of mechanism began)
and she loved to take walks with maya or ray at ignacia, or watch ray blacksmithing
it calmed her down a bit, but she knew something was still missing
edit: jay was also not in the best place after nya left, and wasn't able to spend time with jenna because she reminded him so much of nya, so he went to the lighthouse before he got too far
crystallized was..not the best experience either
because of spoilers and still planning out some more stuff, time to jump to post-crystallized

The Card | Carlos Sainz Jr x Reader | Part 2
Summary: Aftermath of part 1, you and Carlos are finally together.
a/n: helloooo, i saw a few people ask for this and i was in the mood of writing something light so here it is!! Also painful to know carlos lost his pole to russell but it is what it is 🥲
tags: just fun vibes really, a bit of sexual tension, swearing and jealous carlos but wholesome all around apart from that <3 [charles also makes a quick appearance]
as always enjoy <3<3
link to part 1 here
summary of part 1: Carlos has been pining for ages and he realizes you’ve been pining for him too (only with Lando’s help of course).
------------------------------------------------------------
Tumblr media
Carlos wants to kick himself for waiting so long to say anything to you, he’s laying on the bed, eyes tracing over your figure as you slowly fix the skirt of the red dress you were wearing to the event. Memories from last night are still fresh in his mind. To think he could have been with you like this for longer always baffled him. It had been six months since he had asked you on a date but the moment was still carved in his memory.
“Oh,” You had answered and Carlos absolutely wanted to shit himself. Had he made the worst mistake in his life? You take your moment to think on what you want to say and he’s terrified. Was this it? Were you going to turn around and leave and never see him ever again? What if you couldn’t be friends anymore after this?
“I mean-” He stuttered, brain scattering for an excuse or a cover-up. He just couldn’t lose you. His mind was looking for something- whatever really, that would help you both move on like nothing had happened.
“Can I kiss you then?” You ask point blank, your face is serious as you look at him and it’s Carlos’ turn to feel a bit thrown off. Because,
“What?” Carlos asks this time and he’s confused. He feels you lace your fingers with his and you’re suddenly stepping closer. His heart suddenly beats even faster (to a point where he doesn’t think it’s possible.
“Can I kiss you?” You ask again and you’re so close he can practically count the lashes on your eyes. He’s breathless, looking over your eyes and he swears he can see specs of gold. He can’t even muster up the words so he settles on nodding and before he knows it he’s leaning down to capture your lips in his.
You both had gone to his hotel room that night, with soft giggles and touches. Nothing had happened really, but you cuddled up to him that evening and fell asleep with his arms wrapped around you.
The next morning Carlos had woken you up with gentle kisses and a whole itinerary planned for the day. Carlos had asked you on one date but you were pretty sure you went on five that day. He had taken you to brunch in one of his favorite cafés in town (as recommended by Lando of course) and then had taken you for mini golf (since you both knew you were horrible at golf and Carlos did not want any of you to have an injury on your first date). Then it was lunch, which included a quick cooking class for authentic italian dishes and finally you both decided to take it easy and have a nice movie night in the hotel.
You were surprised that he had planned so much in such little time but you also did remember that he was a well known driver and he probably did have connections here and there. Especially in Italy.
The best part of the day though? It didn’t feel like a date really, or none of you felt pressured. Sure, you both were sneaking more touches, glances, kisses but it just felt like both of you were with your best friend. Which is why you both really just transitioned into it. There was never an ‘oh we’re dating’ conversation. You were just together (but were you ever really not?).
“You have that face again,” You interrupt, which snaps Carlos out of the memory. He looks over at you and smiles when he realizes you’re holding out the necklace he had given you for your birthday this year. He gently takes it out of your hands and gets up, watching you turn as you lift your hair up.
“What face?” He asks despite already knowing what you’re going to say. His eyes are glued to your bare neck, and he can’t help but lean down to give the crook of your neck a gentle kiss. You shiver a bit, feeling his stubble tickle you gently.
“The one you have when you zone out and smile stupidly.” You say fondly, letting out a soft sigh when he settles for another kiss. “We need to leave soon,” You murmur, although you’re leaning your head a bit to let him pepper more kisses.
“I know mi amor but you look so good.” He says, fingers already toying with one of the straps on your dress. You bite the inside of your cheek this time, knowing you had to stand your ground. Carlos had been late to the last two Ferrari events and you definitely didn’t want to be late to your first one.
“Carlos,” You say more firmly and you swear you can almost hear your boyfriend roll his eyes before he pulls away and loops the necklace around your neck. “Gracias,” You say softly before turning and giving his lips another peck.
You both make it to the event on time (no thanks to Carlos) since you had to get the driver to stop messing with your dress every time he got the chance when you both were finishing up getting ready. His hands are on your lower back as you both go to the bar of the event.
“Wine please, need it to make these heels bearable.” You tell him with a smile after he asks you what drink you wanted. You trust him to pick which wine for you since he practically knew you like the back of his hand.
“Why do you look so nervous?” Carlos asks once he’s back. He’s carefully handing you your wine, giving your cheek a gentle kiss, not too sure if it would help with your nerves but in his eyes it was worth the try.
“My first Ferrari event,” You remind him with a gentle nudge. He lets out a scoff before taking a sip of his drink.
“Come on, it’s not your first one,” He remembers you had been to one or two before and had met some of the stakeholders and investors but you roll your eyes at that.
“Fair- but it’s my first one as your, you know.” You say and this time you both blush and let an awkward chuckle. Even though you guys had been together for more than half a year now you both still danced around calling each other girlfriend or boyfriend. It’s not like you weren’t- everyone knew and saw the shift in the relationship but it was more amusing for everyone else to not say anything and watch you both awkwardly laugh and blush at the mention of the word girlfriend and boyfriend.
“Disgusting,” Charles tsks, soon smiling to you and approaching you first to give you a hug and then going to give Carlos a quick fist bump. “What are you both blushing and smiling about?” He asks.
“Nothing,” You both answer in unison and Charles needs to take a sip of his drink. “You’re both the same I swear.” He says with an amused smile before looking at Carlos. “Mattia wants us to go talk to some of the big guys.” He says before looking over at you. “Is it okay if I steal him for a bit?”
“Of course, take him.” You smile before watching him head off, Carlos is already giving you big puppy eyes as he walks away and you stick your tongue out to him discreetly before deciding to sit to the side to wait for a bit.
You were a bit nervous to be there if you were being honest. It’s not like it was your first time appearing as Carlos’ girlfriend but it kind of was? You had shown up to the paddock quite a few times since you guys had properly gotten together but you both refrained from too much PDA and honestly- it hadn’t changed much from when you were just friends. You were nervous about what the media would say- especially since you had been close with Carlos for years and even from before he had dated Chelsea.
You’re tracing the rim of your wine glass as you watch Carlos shake one of the men’s hands before you feel a shift next to you.
“Hey,” You look over and meet eyes with a blonde man. He looks around yours and Carlos’ age and you smile at him politely, shifting and greeting him back. Soon you’re shaking hands and you learn that his name is Caleb.
“Y/N,” You introduce yourself with a smile, letting go of his hand. You both entertain each other for a bit and you learn that Caleb’s fathers company was looking to sponsor Ferrari and he had tagged along because he had always been into the F1 world. You think the conversation is casual really and you both mainly talk about Carlos, but all of the sudden he laughs at one of your jokes a bit too loud and his hand gently rests on your leg and oh. You don’t even have time to react because you both hear Carlos clearing his throat which makes you both look up from your seat.
Carlos and Charles are standing by you both now and Charles is wearing and amused smile on his lips whilst Carlos is wearing a tight lipped smile on his face. And was Carlos jealous?
Caleb doesn’t seem to pick this up because he gets up with a grin, you also slowly get up, giving Charles a look. “Ah the two men of the hour.” He says, extending his hand to shake Charles’ and then Carlos’ hand. You feel for Caleb really, because Carlos really knew how to keep his composure but if anyone knew Carlos they would know he was less than happy to be shaking his hand.
“I was just telling y/n that you and Charles are my favorite drivers on the grid. It is amazing what you’re doing really-”
Carlos takes this time to interrupt, “yeah my girlfriend,” He says. Caleb furrows his brows for a second, suddenly noticing the shift in mood.
“Sorry?" Caleb asks and he looks over to Charles who is clearly unbothered, and more like amused. By the way Charles looked he was clearly enjoying what was unfolding in front of him. You’re about to butt in when Carlos clears his throat.
“Sorry, you were just saying that you were telling y/n, my girlfriend, about?” He asks and this time you’re burning red but Charles can’t help but let out a snort.
“Oh- your,” Caleb says slowly before he becomes flustered. “Sorry mate, I didn’t know.” He says and it is so sincere that you feel bad for him. Carlos though doesn’t and he takes this moment to shift next to you and wrap his arm around your waist and plant a kiss on your lips.
“No worries,” He promises. “So I heard about you telling my girlfriend about your company wanting to sponsor Ferrari? What’s your company about?”
The rest of the night progresses smoothly and Caleb and Carlos end up clicking quite well. You stay glued to Carlos’ side except the few times Charles and you had snuck to get more drinks. It’s almost funny how Carlos takes you around the event once him and Caleb finish up their talk. He makes sure he introduces you to almost everyone, and the word girlfriend is dripping off his tongue. You don’t mention anything until you’re both in the car.
“Are you okay?” You ask, and as much as you want to scold him for making a fuss you’re grinning from ear to ear as you take off your heels.
“What?“ He asks, looking at you with his brow raised. You shake your head letting out a sigh before leaning into his side. “I’m fine. why?”
“Nothing,” You say softly before taking his hand in yours and intertwining your fingers together. He gently lifts your hands and gives your knuckles a few kisses.
You rest your head on his shoulder as you watch the street pass by. It’s silent for a bit, the only music playing being the radio channel the driver randomly picked. Its when Coldplay starts playing that Carlos finally interrupts the silence.
“I didn’t like the way he was looking at you,” He confesses and you gently run your thumb over his knuckles before looking over him.
“Really? I had no idea,” You tease him, making Carlos groan and cover his face with his hand.
“Was it that obvious?” He asks and you roll your eyes before coming closer to him and pecking his lips. He slowly peeks between his fingers before speaking up. “Can I have another one? I think I deserve one more no?” He asks and you can’t help but comply.
“I’ve never seen you jealous before,” You say softly humming. “It was kind of hot.” You say with a light laugh, surprised yourself. You never liked it when your exes were jealous- but it was also different, and completely endearing. Your exes were more of the psychotic cut-off your friends jealous type.
“He was trying to hit on you, I had to stand my ground no?” He tries to defend himself. “Someone needed to tell him you’re my girlfriend.” The word feels normal for him to say now, easy on the tongue.
“So should I introduce myself as your girlfriend then?” The question comes with a bit of a prideful smile and Carlos furrows his brows,
“How have you been introducing yourself?” Carlos asks, brows furrowed and you shrug.
“Like how I always did- your best friend.” You explain before looking at him. “What? It wasn’t really clear when we did that switch. How do you introduce yourself?” You question,
Carlos thinks for a bit before wearing a sheepish smile. “I guess I also say you’re my best friend,” He says, scratching the back of his head in deep thought.
“So should I introduce myself as your girlfriend?” You ask this time, eyes shifting to your fingers as you feel him gently play with them.
“I mean you are no?” He asks with a playful tone and you can’t help but laugh.
“I mean, I don’t know,” You say, dragging your words. “Am I?"
“Eres tonta?” Are you stupid? He asks sweetly and you laugh. “I’d like you to introduce yourself as my girlfriend. I’d be happy, elated even.” He says, pecking your lips between every sentence. “I want the whole world to know you’re mine mi amor.”
"Perfect." You say.
"Perfect." He replies.

What is and what could never be
Summary: After the events of Dark Phoenix, Peter wakes up to a world that he doesn’t recognize anymore. After reaching his limit and some impulsive thinking, Peter wakes up in a new world. One where everything he’d ever wanted is his reality. While this world is perfect for him, he soon realizes that it’s not the case for everybody.
Next parts: Chapter 1, Chapter 2, Chapter 3,
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: The birthday
Pain.
All Peter could remember was horrible, crushing pain. He then floated endlessly through a void until he woke up in the mansion’s medical aisle. Hank was sitting at his desk, his back turned to him.
“H- Hank,” he croaked out, feeling as if he’d swallowed sandpaper.
The scientist dropped what he was doing at turned to him in shock. “You’re awake.”
After a series of countless tests, his questions were finally answered. Jean had died, but not before injuring him to a point that there was very little hope of him ever waking up. Raven was dead too, killed just moments after he’d blacked out. Hank told him he’d been in a coma for nearly two months now, that’d he’d been hanging on by a thread the whole time.
“The probability of you waking up were small, and of those scenarios, even fewer had you come out intact. It’s a one in a million probability.”
The scientist didn’t understand it, but Peter could. His twin sister had always looked over him, even in death. Or at least, that’s what he liked to believe. One in a million were easy for her.
The world he came back to wasn’t the one he left. Hank was the dean now; Charles has taken off to Paris with Erik to grieve properly. The X-men were no more, since half of their team was gone. There were also a lot fewer students, Jean’s attack had apparently scared the world and mutants were once again the enemy. Parents were less likely to send their children to a place that might get attacked.
Peter started teaching again when Hank had deemed him well enough. His fingers were a little rusty on the guitar strings, but his feet were still as eager to run. The questions didn’t bother him, at first. Children were curious by nature, and they seemed to want to know every detail about what had happened to him. But then, they started asking about Jean, if he thought of her as a villain for killing Raven and hurting him. He did his best to give vague answers, how someone being so overwhelmed by their mutation that they accidentally hurt people didn’t make them the enemy. Some older student disagreed with him, blaming his naiveness on spending too much time with Charles.
That was another thing, the telepath was gone. And he didn’t mind at first, but the mood of the mansion was so depressing, and his half-hearted jokes didn’t really do much for anyone and honestly, he didn’t feel like joking around.
Fewer students meant that they weren’t always teaching, so Peter spent those quiet moments training to get his body used to superspeed again or wandering through the many hallways of the mansion. The absence of two of his close friends definitely weighted on him. His nights were filled with nightmares and flashbacks, awakened by Jean’s attack. The way she died was so similar to his own sister’s death, that he often saw her in his nightmares instead of the fiery redhead. Or it would be Jean, dying in his arms as her powers ripped her apart. She would be begging him to get away and he would refuse, until she eventually blasted him away to then burn up into nothingness. Then another night, he would be back in Cairo, failing to tell his father who he was and getting caught by En Sabah Nur again. But this time, Raven wouldn’t be there to save him, so the blade would find its target and he would bleed out in the sand, and Erik’s uncaring eyes would be the last thing he’d see before waking up.
The nightmares were getting more and more frequent, coinciding with that time of the year. The most dreaded event of all.
February 11th.
Their- his birthday.
Only days from now, he’d have to pretend that starting a new decade of his life would be exciting. He’d asked the team to not celebrate his birthday in the past, but Ororo had been adamant that he would at least celebrate his 30th. There had been no room for negotiations, so he’d agreed. Frankly, he didn’t really believe that he’d still be there. But three years later and two close calls with death, there he was, trying not to notice how Kurt and Ororo were just the slightest bit of; how his name was mentioned in hushed conversations.
Sure enough, on the dreaded day, he had been awakened by the pair opening his door and singing happy birthday. A handful of confetti was thrown on him by an unenthusiastic Scott and Peter sympathized with the younger man. He was still deep in grief from losing Jean and celebrating wasn’t something he was in the mood for.
The rest of the day was... a blur. Many students wished him a happy birthday, most of them happy to focus on something else than everyone they had lost. Then it was time for the cake and while he was impressed by the dessert (who knew Kurt could bake so well?) , he couldn’t focus on anything else than the big numbers on the cake. The age Wendy would never reach, another year of growing apart from who he was. Another year where he would be painfully reminded of their broken connection. Back when they were starting their teenage years, he’d complained about feeling everything his twin felt, her and her constant spiral downward towards depression and self-wallowing. Once he finally got his head around to what was truly happening, he had tried to help her, but of course he’d been too late. And now? Well, he had to blow out his candles of an age he never thought he’d reach alone. Everyone was eagerly waiting so they could then cut and eat the cake.
Peter closed his eyes and took a deep breath, blowing out his candles as he made his wish.
‘I wish I could have helped you, so we would still be together.’
He stared at the smoke from the extinguished candles and sighed at yet another moment he wouldn’t share with his sister. The increasing sound of cheers and clapping made him go back to normal time and grin widely, hoping it looked real. Ororo took over the pastry and cut everyone a slice, and he ate his piece quickly before excusing himself.
The woman put a hand on his shoulder with a concerned look in her eyes. “Are you alright?”
He smiled at her. “You know me, of course I am.” His explanation didn’t seem to satisfy his friend, so he continued. “I just need to go see my mom. It’s kinda important to see your parents on your birthday, ya know?”
That excuse worked better, and she let him go, telling him to be careful. He promised and started running. His calves still burned a little when he approached his top speed, so he stayed at a comfortable pace. Soon enough, his childhood home came into view, and he pressed the doorbell.
It didn’t take long for his mom to answer, her usual glass of whisky in hand. She stared at him for a moment, probably wondering if he was really there.
She gestured at him to enter. “I was wondering if you would come.”
Peter crossed the door, and his eyes were instantly drawn to the many photo albums on the floor. Amongst them were gifts and drawing Wendy had done over the years, little messages she had written, everything that was left of her was taken out of its usual stored place.
“Mom...” he started.
Magda took a sip of her glass as she walked to his side. “I can’t help it. It hurts but at least I feel something.”
The speedster glanced at the phone. “Lorna didn’t call?”
His mom shrugged. “You know her, she’s focused on other stuff. No time to spare on her family.”
They then stayed silent, the ticking of the clock and the clicking of the ice cubes in Magda’s drink being the only thing breaking it.
She eventually spoke up. “I got you your usual cupcake, it’s not as pretty as it was this morning, but it’s not like it’ll make any difference; she won’t eat it.”
Peter turned to his mom, shocked at her words. Magda’s eyes opened wide and quickly filled with tears as she realized what she had said. She ran to her room and slammed it shut, it didn’t take long for Peter to hear her sobs.
He approached her door, listening for a moment before speaking up. “I love you, mom.”
There was nothing to be done when she started crying, so Peter grabbed the cupcake and ran to his sister’s final resting place. The ground was frozen, but he knelt down, nonetheless. He put the dessert in front of him and stared at his sister’s name engraved in the stone.
“Happy birthday, Wends, can you believe we’re 30 now?” He chuckled sadly to himself. “So much happened in the last year, I wish you were with me, everything would have been easier. I didn’t tell Erik yet, and I know you didn’t want him to know about you, but I’m sure you would have told him yourself by now. It’s been years that I’ve been trying to tell him, and now that he’s taken off with Charles to Paris, the last thing he needs is a useless son.” He perked his head up to the sky. “Do you think it’s worth it anymore?”
The cold wind was his only answer, and the tears gathered in his eyes before flowing down his cheeks.
“I can’t do it, not without you. I thought I was better, but lately, I can’t sleep, I can’t live without suffering. I just- I just want a break.”
After his one-sided conversation, he stayed there, his head hung low as sadness and grief burned him from the inside. He’d need someone to take his pain away, even just briefly. Suddenly, he remembered someone Raven mentioned to him years ago, the one who had told her that Erik was back. The one who was able to find anyone. Maybe he’d be able to help.

So like, I know some demon lore involves them kinda just poofing into existence as an adult but to follow the games thing of childhood friends hear me out
10-13 year old MC summoning demon Cove from a weird book they found and making him enter a deal/pact to be their friend (8 feels kinda too young to make any sense so that’s why they’re older)
Like the MC is just really lonely and when they find the book they do the summoning because they’re a child that’s that desperate for a friend and doesn’t know any better expecting it to be a dud and for nothing to happen but oops- they just actually summoned an actual demon into their room and the only way he can leave is if he makes a pact with them so with some definitely smart and quick thinking the MC declares that the demon—who they find out is named Cove—has to be their friend. And the rest is history
(Don’t summon demons kids-)
mmm and what if offering an to the demon is what's needed to complete the ritual, the higher the request the bigger the payment.
so in turn for life long friendship, you gotta give cove your soul in the end.
and all the other demons make fun of cove for accepting that as his first pact, but cove just lets it roll off his back and he comes every day to play with you and hang out and do human things that friends do
imagine he's outside of your classes and making funny faces at you thru the window and stuff and you're trying not to laugh or be obvious since no one can see him rn with the spell he's using
BRINGING DEMON!COVE TO PROM
cove: do mortals always have balls like these? mc: it's not a ball, it's prom. but yeah, sometimes for birthdays, weddings and stuff...
finds it weird since usually royalty only throws big things like this. but thats besides the point bc he's so glad you invited him bc between the lighting and your outfit and the way you look at him, his stomach stirs with butterflies and he's never loved anything more until you.
he'll do all your mortal events and rituals- sorry, activities..
he loves and laughs with you until the end, he even ages with you even though he actually hasn't aged much since you met. but he holds your hand and soothes you and takes away your pain.. he shushes your final words, not wanting to waste your last moments with rambling that you may never finish and he just says he loves you and lets your lips tangle together and your soul warms up his empty stomach...
now he could take your soul and eat it, he's nourished you for many years and many demons throw an uproar when he breathes your soul into a demonic being, it's simply unheard of even if its possible, but when you blink your eyes open and mumble his name. he doesn't mind if making a pact with you to stay by his side too is selfish

Notes for The Melancholy Of Yuuou
What a gift.
He stands so straight and baby boy get a belt it looks like you need it
They really are just nice siblings. Yeah some aren’t the brightest bulbs and still likely hold a bit of a grudge because of Yuo’s plan but it’s stil so sweet that they’re doing all this for him
Damn they really just pushed him out. At least Yuro waved
I DON’T LIKE FIRST POV STOP IT STOP okay thanks.
Tumblr media
Tiny.
NO IT’S COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE I DON’T HAVE WORK TO DO, BREAKS AND OFF DAYS AREN’T EVEN IN MY CONTRACT!
Nicely animated swing? Also we’ve seen this park before right
*Shaking Konami by the shoulders* WHAT EVEN WAS YUO’S PLOT? WAS IT JUST RECORDIBG YUGA SAYING “yeah sure why not lol” BECAUSE THAT’S STUPID. I KNOW YUO’S SMARTER THAN THINKING THAT WOULD WORK WITHOUT THE DUEL MAKER
Sliding down sound affects. while in heels like a madman. We love to see Romin have a flair for the dramatics.
Sorry, this is my one single off day since I was five and I’d rather contemplate my siblings and current situation while alone on the kiddie swings than be in a magical girl anime
Gakuto came out of the dog house because he’s a bitch
get him a nap he looks like he needs one
Not me simultaneously gasping with Yuo at the threat “curry.”
YO I CAN COOK UP YUO AND ROMIN PARALLELS LIKE ROMIN COOKS UP CURRY as in insane
LET HER COOK
that was such a genuine scream for a wave of curry
Romin really woke up and called Gakuto like “Hey remember our sick ass cosplays? Well what if you do that again but as therapists. No I don’t have anyone in mind but it’s still cool. Met me and the kiddie park in full cosplay I’ll work this acting like it deserves an oscar”
He’s sad and lonely and covers it up and never lets himself be truly vulnerable and like he’s 11 he should be playing with Barbie dolls and having friends not being alone at your job thinking about how much you’re siblings must hate you
Romin is so bad at comforting I love that for her
Roa stop being Cunty
Anyways while recaps happens *thinks back to the Yuo is just like me post* AHAHA OH
These guitars go hard man
WE LOVE A LIAR YASSSSS
HE’S HIS PUPPET.
Kill Roa thank you Luke
THEY’RE BOTH POWER HUNGRY AND PUT THAT OVER THEIR LOVED ONES *Shaking you up and down over Yuo and Luke parallels over and over*
WACK HIM WITH THE MAGICAL GIRL STICK. BONK HIM. DESTROY HIM.
it’s now just 10 minutes I talk too much
Damn he didn’t even get ice cream for himself never mind lol
Yuo’s VA is so good at screaming no wonder he’s Izuku. Also why is that the default reactions to anything happening he dislikes/didn’t predict
Anyways now that it’s been revealed it’s a birthday time to get cake for meee <3
Oh Luke hired Mimi back? That’s actually really nice good job Luke
HELL YEAH FIRST FLASHBACK TO SWIRLY LET’S GOOO
Also yeah the Reborn event probably happened on Yuo’s birthday. Poor guy
Small hands.
NO NO NO HE DOESN’T THINK HE’S WORTH CELEBRATING MMMMMNOOOOO
am. am I going to cry to Yuo knowing how much he caused and how he almost fucked over peoples lives and how he’s dealing with that
Welcome to the part of the notes with more projecting
Yuo is such a fascinating character. Like, yeah, in his very business and logical heavy mind, how could he repay the pain he must have given. He doesn’t expect forgiveness, he doesn’t expect people to like him, that’s his business side. That compares to his puppeteering side, a side of him begging to see his puppets beg for even implying a chance of winning after being beaten, a side knowing he’ll be the star of the show with his Ashurastar. But he’s still human, still an eleven year old that has human wants like love. This is a huge ass rant oopies
He wants to be a good sibling so bad that he’s now just going with the nonsense
“Just what kind of life have you led Yuuou-kun“ is the nice way of saying “what the fuck is wrong with you”
ROMIN A DOLL IS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS TO PRACTICE WITH HE VIEWS THEM AS SERVANTS TO HIS POWER
“Thannnn…anmmisszamm…THANKS FOR NOTHING!” Proceeds to sigh in self disappointment
USE THE POWER OF RACISM GAKUTO. OKAY
What a mood man
Mmmmmm I have too many words to say about the party and Yuo’s reaction
AAACHDDGGSSHIYCDJHFGJMMMMMMM
It’s so sweet and nice and Yuo looks so so happy and everyone is having a good time and I feel like I’m going to cry
After all this…he gets to bonk. Also Gakuto in drag fits weirdly well
EE THEY’RE PLAY FIGHTING THEY’RE PLAY FIGHTING THEY’RE LIKE LITTLE KIDS WITHOUT ANY RESPONSIBILITIES
Obsessed.
Ooooooo that’s a great ending. Everyone is having a great time and then just the sudden flashbacks and reassurging memories. Yuo can still have fun but at the back of his mind it’s still there. Great

Encanto OC Event Week 3: Efecto Mariposa. One Life
Tumblr media
(TW for pregnancy loss. No Alma bashing here either. She hasn't learned her lessons yet.) Decided to edit this. ☺️
Onto the first years! Mercedes eagerly joins the family routines. Bruno's a little more at peace with his gift since something good happened. They're both in marital bliss. Julieta, Pepa and Alma are cheerful. It's a great change in their lives. Then Mercedes starts noticing cracks in her new family. She witnesses more sides to her husband and in-law's bustling lives. She's worried about their health since they overwork. They should have time for themselves. She also hopes to have her art studio and make her hobby a job. Having stood up to her mother she gains confidence and discusses her concerns to Alma. It's brushed off.
Alma explains that Mercedes is now a Madrigal; she has a role and duty. She must be involved in the Madrigal's status and lifestyle. She has to partake with earning the Miracle that found them. She knows it's hard, but Mercedes will have to sacrifice her goals for this busy life.
That's not the only thing Mercedes needs to adjust. She's viewed as Bad Luck Bruno's wife than regular Mercedes as if she's not an individual. Anyone she knew before is avoiding her. There's gossip that Alma married her son off to his friend because nobody would court him. A sad shock is when Maria forces her family to leave the Encanto. Mercedes never sees them again and just when she was getting closer to her stepdad!
It's hard, but Mercedes doesn't regret marrying Bruno and he's her biggest supporter. He gets into debates with Alma about letting Mercedes do her own things than just help the Miracle all the time. Pepa and Julieta do as well. Though Alma loves Mercedes, she feels like she's steering her children, especially Bruno, down a different path than what's designed for them. She and her daughters are upset when Bruno suggests maybe they should have their own place instead of living in Casita full time. Scratch the cottage off their dream list! With these changes, Mercedes grows uneasy about sharing a big house with the family. She and Bruno are more content being alone. She wishes they had their own little house like some couples. It's tradition to live with the family, but they feel boxed up. Casita has their back by adding updates to Bruno's room so it's more like a tiny house. They already had a bathroom, but soon they have a kitchenette, reading nook, hammocks, and art studio. Casita also lets them get out more often when the family sleeps so they can have more alone time.
The couple still share hobbies and activities like before, but it feels closer. Some new things come up. Mercedes takes up back/neck massages for Bruno and it helps his stress. She pretty much convinces him to not shave his facial scruff because she adores the feel when they kiss.
After their 1st year, the worst happens: Mercedes has a miscarriage. It's very early, but that's sadly how she discovered she was pregnant. She thought it was menstruation pains only worse. Only Julieta and Bruno know. Mercedes blames herself while Bruno's hating himself for not seeing. What if he saw this coming and could've saved their child? Of course, there's nothing they could've done. It just happens. (This is the baby girl in that vision Bruno shows Alejandra and Francisca in the story canon. He doesn't realize it here yet.) Mercedes names their lost child Esmeralda. They grieve and hope they have another chance. After the grief, they're baby obsessed and try whatever possible to get pregnant. Nothing. Whenever Mercedes witnesses a family with a new baby Bruno clasps her hand reassuringly. It's not until October, right before they're 20th birthdays, they have a blessing.
Bruno feels an involuntary vision and Mercedes sits with him. The vision shows Mercedes on Casita's balcony and holding a baby! They're stunned, but overjoyed. Then Mercedes realizes she's missed her menstrual by a couple weeks! She already is! The two decide to wait another week or two because this was around the time of the miscarriage. After waiting and Mercedes develops a baby bump, they announce to a thrilled family. It's another short weeks later when Alma comments Mercedes is growing fast like she did with the triplets. 👀
Trying the vision again. It's completed with Bruno appearing with another baby. Twins! A miracle in pairs! 📿♟️

Total Drama Changes: Island and TDI Special/Between Island and Action
Since at least one person was interested, I decided to do a little list of things I’m planning to/will change in “my version” of Total Drama, going from Island to All-Stars (Pahkitew is going to be an...interesting case). Keep in mind that this isn’t going to necessarily cover everything in detail, just stuff that I remember really feeling like a turn-off for me as a viewer, or just things I feel would be an interesting enough change. I’ll also include stuff that happens between seasons, since my eventual stories would cover that stuff, at least somewhat. This will also likely be a fairly long post, and I’m going to split it into a post per season, plus the specials when applicable and transition period.
To start with Island
All of the contestants are aged up by 2 years, so the average age for all of them is about 18, though some are just shy of their birthdays when they come to the Island (though in those cases, they have their birthdays shortly after arriving) and DJ had actually just turned 19 when the first season begins.
“Who Can You Trust?” takes place between “Phobia Factor” and “Up the Creek”, with Gwen and Trent reconciling there instead of in “No Pain, No Game”. Sadie is still eliminated in this episode, since she basically did nothing after Katie left, and I can’t deny not being able to think of anything for her to do.
Duncan and Courtney’s elimination order is switched, with Harold still rigging the votes, but this time to get rid of Duncan since he was the actual person Harold had issues with.
As I’ve mentioned before, Gwen is more...consistent with whether she thinks certain people are “okay” or not, and in her ending speech, she does include Geoff and Trent as among the “sane” campers, though she does admit that she took time to start seeing Geoff as a friend.
During the events of “Search and Do Not Destroy”, Trent does try to confront Gwen about what Heather told him, but Heather and her alliance (somewhat unintentionally on Izzy’s part) keep them apart until after the votes had been cast, so even though Gwen and Trent make up and solidify their relationship before the ceremony, Trent still ends up eliminated because the votes couldn’t be changed and nobody knew the truth until too late.
In the finale, both Trent and LeShawna help Gwen, not because either of them has anything to prove to her, but just because neither thought it was fair that so many people were helping Owen simply because they wanted to go to his party (especially when Gwen had already said she was going to split the winnings if she won, and Owen still could have thrown a big party with 50K) and they wanted to help even the odds.
Now for the changes regarding the special and some stuff between the events of Island and Action:
First off, Owen doesn’t actually give up his 100K to compete in the “challenge” for the special. If World Tour can still happen despite Beth/Duncan being implied to have gotten their million and used it, Action can still happen with Owen (or Gwen if she wins) keeping the 100K won from Island
Harold and LeShawna don’t break up here, though they do agree to try and take the relationship slower now that they can actually spend more time together
Courtney isn’t quite as “ruthless” about winning the million here, since in this version of Island, she was voted off not only fair and square, but much later into the competition
Most of the people who make it onto Island are the same, but Tyler and Cody also get pulled in, since they were still attached to Owen and DJ when they fell into the water. Courtney is also in the next season from the start.
The time between the end of Island and the start of Action is about 2 months, with Owen’s party taking place a week after the events of the “special”.
Not too much happens during that time besides the campers going home to prepare for the next season, and keeping in touch with their friends from the show (and handling various degrees of long distance relationships in the case of the couples).
The biggest thing that happens that relates to the next season is that, while they’re spending time together, Trent actually tells Gwen the story about how the number nine is his “lucky number” and how when he was stressed, he’d sometimes do little actions that many times or just count to nine to help himself calm down. So, when Action starts, Gwen already knows about why the number is important to Trent.

The Stars May Rise and Fall: The Annotated Re-read (Chapter 29)
Welcome back to Chapter 29, where the nicest thing I can say about Rei’s shitty attempts to (not really) take care of himself is “at least he doesn’t live in a sewer and sleep in a literal coffin”!
…seriously, I created this disaster boy and even I’m frustrated with him here. Arrrgh!
As always, spoilers (including spoilers for chapters beyond this one) under the cut!
We open this chapter with what will be the final screw in the coffin of Bara’s revenge, mwa ha ha! when Teru’s band shows up to an event to promote their album to find a line reaching around the block and a poster (designed by Rei) much larger than the one for the omnibus CD Bara’s band was selected for. This will be the last passing mention of that CD OR Bara’s band in the book, by the way. They’re just not a threat anymore. 😁
The event itself features a bunch of stupid questions that used to honestly drive me crazy back in the day. Who cares what the band’s favorite clothing brands are? I want to know about the underlying angst beneath their lyrics, dammit! LOL But there is one person who has apparently gotten wind that SOMETHING is up regarding the bands future… good for her for asking the hard-hitting questions?
And then we move on to December 23, the former Emperor’s birthday. *sigh* I miss the former Emperor, not only because he was a peace-loving, grandfatherly figure, but because his birthday was on December 23, which was a much more conveniently placed national holiday than the current Emperor’s birthday.
As mentioned in the book, when neither December 24 or 25 fell on a weekend, a lot of people would celebrate a Japanese-style (I.e. couple-centric) Christmas on the 23rd. In 2000, the 23rd was a Saturday and the 24th a Sunday… so fairly easy for people to celebrate. That also makes the 23rd a great date for an in-store event to celebrate the launch of Teru’s album!
This was completely coincidental, by the way… I’d already decided that Teru was going to take Rei out of town for Christmas Eve, so I Googled the relevant calendar and… boom. Hello, plot point!
So, it’s vaguely mentioned in passing that Rei is also getting ready to go out as Teru is preparing for the event. This isn’t SUPER unusual; Rei does go out, maybe not quite as often since he’s been working on the album having a lot of bad pain days recently, but the album is finished, and if anything Teru would be happy that he’s feeling good enough to have plans of his own.
As always, anything that’s not explicitly on the page is not canon, and each reader is free to fill in the blanks on their own, but I think he’s going out here to buy or to pick up the pendant he’s eventually going to give to Teru on New Year’s Eve. He doesn’t intend it to be a goodbye present at this point—maybe just a Christmas present or a “good luck with the record deal, I support you” present… but of course that all changes, and what happens here is definitely what pushes Rei over the edge.
A couple of reviewers complained about the way Rei didn’t take very good care of himself, but honestly I don’t really know what they expected from a Phantom retelling. At least he doesn’t live in a sewer and sleep in a literal coffin? IDK. But I did try to show that not taking care of yourself has consequences. I don’t think it’s anything super dramatic that happens to him here: he’s just pushing himself too hard, not using the right mobility aids in the right way, and he falls badly on the ankle that’s not in great shape to begin with. Someone gets concerned and calls an ambulance, and I imagine Rei protests but he literally can’t get up so… he ends up in the hospital and they call Chizuru to come and get him.
I don’t think it’s particularly significant that Chizuru is still listed as his emergency contact instead of Teru… probably just not something you think to update without a specific reason. As to why Chizuru isn’t available… well, it’s the Emperor’s birthday/Christmas Eve weekend, she says she’s not in Tokyo, and Teru hears a man’s voice with her on the other end of the line… I think she finally IS moving on (which honestly makes it pretty shitty what Rei sort of indirectly does to her too… she’s totally going to feel guilty and go back to taking care of him full time, but I also think her partner is understanding and she eventually gets a happy ending, too.)
So she calls Teru, and Teru thinks he can take care of it before his event, but he has trouble finding the hospital and then it takes longer than he expects and he ends up being late.
I’ve written before about my loathing and fear of hospitals, particularly Japanese hospitals… things have gotten much better as younger generations of doctors and nurses have come in, and as younger generations of patients have started to demand more in the way of things like informed consent, second opinions, and mental health considerations, but ESPECIALLY at the time, being hospitalized felt like being in prison… and for Rei, of course, hospitals are also going to be associated with a lot of trauma.
So, the asshole doctor here is probably the single worst human being in the book. There are definitely a few things that could be considered microaggressions or unconscious bias… no one considering the possibility that Teru might be queer, Kiyomi and Seika being awkward around Rei, Teru thinking it weird that Seika chooses to live in Koreatown. But none of those are **consciously** discriminatory… this doctor most definitely is. He doesn’t speak directly to Rei—i.e. the actual patient—the entire time, assumes Teru is a “caregiver” and even when he says he’s not keeps talking to him like he is, etc. etc. Needless to say, he was based on many, many shitty doctors I’ve seen here, and was actually pretty cathartic to write.
Don’t actually put too much weight on this guy’s medical advice, by the way. I did as much research as I could, but it was all internet-based. Unlike with the music stuff, I didn’t have any firsthand sources to ask about medical details. Also, he’s a jerk.
So, once Teru sees that Rei is not badly injured, some of his concern sort of turns to annoyance. The person he loves is hurt, and Teru himself is late for the album launch event, and all of this was PERFECTLY PREVENTABLE… or maybe not. But if Rei had been using a crutch and wearing an ankle brace and had STILL gotten hurt, I think Teru would’ve been a little more sympathetic.
Now, I do understand what Rei was thinking. He was having a good day, and there haven’t been many of those lately. He’s worried that he IS going to need more help and more support as time goes by (which, he is… I mean, that’s partly just aging and partly what happens when some parts of your body have to overcompensate for others, but it’s understandable that he struggles to accept that). And so when a day comes when he feels like he’s gotten a little bit “better” again, he wants to go back to the way things were “before”… but of course he wasn’t really taking the right measures to keep himself safe in the first place, so that kind of backfires.
And this is when I think Rei decides that he has to leave Teru… because what he’s feared has now actually happened. His disability has DIRECTLY hurt Teru’s career. Of course, that’s not really true. It wasn’t (only) his disability, but his failure to take care of himself that led to the fall. Rei doesn’t really see that, though… that yes, he did cause Teru to be late for his event, but it was his STUBBORNNESS that caused it more than anything else.
So after the event, Teru comes home and decides to spoil the surprise of his little romantic getaway a day early, because he doesn’t know whether Rei will want to go, or be able to go. He offers to take the wheelchair that’s been in Rei’s bedroom forever but Teru has never seen used… and that would probably be a really smart choice at this point (aside from Teru’s passing concern that he wasn’t expecting this and hasn’t booked accessible train tickets or hotel room, but accommodations could probably be made) but of course Rei refuses… sigh. Even though I wrote this, it’s kind of frustrating to see him blatantly refuse to learn, even when the universe pretty much slapped him in the face with a lesson a few hours earlier.
He does want to go, though… maybe he’s not 100% sure yet, but definitely starting to think that this will be their first and last trip together. 😭

Eternal Love - Episode 33
Tumblr media
I know, from already having watched the series and read the book that some very unpleasant events are coming. Don’t worry, nothing as painful as when Bai Qian was a poor human stuck in her palace, waiting to give birth to her baby. But still, it makes my blood boil just to think about it. So I’ll try to remain nice, but I don’t make any promises that I will.
Bai Qian fell asleep and when she wakes up, Ali is nowhere to be found. Fortunately, she had the bronze mirror and could see where Ali was... which was in a brothel. He followed a girl in there because a guy forced her in and he wanted to save her. Bai Qian tells him that he has to keep this adventure a secret between the two of them, not let his dad know. Yehua comes just back in time to save Bai Qian that is being harassed by a man. She brushes the incident as something unimportant, he just touched her a little. So he kisses her just a little, that’s fine then right? Then he goes back for the Emperor’s birthday while Bai Qian takes Ali back to Qing Qiu.
Even though I knew what was coming, I’m still so disgusted by Sujin. So her plan was to trick Yuanzhen, the second prince’s son, to her room. There she makes him unconscious and forces him to drink a whole lot of alcohol. She sends her maid asking for help because she’s going to pretend hang herself following being sexually abused by Yuanzhen. Who’s like a teenager, barely. I know I know, they are old and all in terms of years, but he’s still a kid. Like how could you do this to a child? People selfish like Sujin should be banned from existing seriously. I can’t fathom how can one destroy anybody’s life for their own little games. That’s not working hard to earn what you want. You don’t deserve anything. Ugly wench!
Yehua and his uncles are going to his palace where the Emperor is already dealing with the situation. I love how Yehua is just rolling his eyes at Sujin. He’s definitely like: I know you’re full of shit. Why do I still have to deal with you? She’s like please, let me die, please. I wish Yehua could just say alright, go hang yourself, good riddance. Unfortunately, the Emperor won’t let that happen, he likes Sujin too much and trusts her too much. That old dude is always in the way. Poor Yuanzhen, he tries to state the truth, but the Emperor won’t believe him. Of course. He doesn’t know to what lengths Sujin may go to “get” what she wants. So he gets sent to the mortal world to go through a 60 year long trial. The logic of the Emperor “You, his father, left with a woman and I never thought you would do something like that! No wonder your son did something so bad!” That guy... How did he even become the Emperor to begin with? So dumb.
Yehua warns her that next time she does shit like this, he won’t let it slide. The only reason she’s still alive right now is because she has Susu’s eyes in her eye orbits. When she dies, Susu’s eyes die with her. You see how worthless she is to him? And she made herself even more worthless. There you go, your stupid plan worked to perfection, right?
Since as Susu she never had any good memory in the palace, Yehua wants to start over with Bai Qian and have her fall for him. It’s alright she forgot.
More of Donghua and Fengjiu’s love story in the mortal realm. Very boring.
And that is all for today. I’m sorry if I offended any Sujin fan here, but she has no excuse for her behaviour except selfishness unlike other dislikable characters (for example Meng Yao in the Untamed who was an awful person, but I could still pity him for his sad sad sad life). Sujin’s only life problem is that her parents died. She was raised like a princess, sister of the Crown Prince. We can’t say she really has anything to be bitter about. I’m not trying to say that losing your parents is nothing, it’s hard at whatever age you are. But she had a happy life and only her own desires are guiding her.

ik this is probably too much to ask for but can I please have a little story of Henry and Carrie White being besties ^^? I barely see any content of their connection character wise and that makes me sad -Lammy/Carrie
You are so right so let’s change that :)
Summary: AU where Carrie and Henry had known each other in their childhood but the beginning of their true friendship wouldn’t start until they meet again in unexpecting circumstances. In this story, Carrie ends up running away after the events of the prom. (As always I ended up writing more than I thought lol) Thank u the request and hope you like it <3
God’s Plan
Carrie wanted to go home.
The small girl stood outside of the church, wrinkling the fabric of her brown plaid dress between her small fingers. (Carrie was never allowed to wear anything red; it was the color of sin, her mother always told her.)
Mass was over, and Carrie listened to Mama chatting with another woman who she had just met outside the church. She was pretty with her blonde-styled hair and pearls that looked quite expensive. Although her mother was chatting politely to her now, back at home Carrie would later get a lesson about the sin of the day: vanity.
“We always attend mass at least four days of the week,” Mama was bragging to the woman. “ It's one of the few things I will miss from this town. Of course, God will follow us wherever we go.”
“Very true, Ms. White.” The woman nods with a polite grin, showing off her pearly white teeth. She reminded Carrie of one of the dolls that she wanted to get for her birthday, but her mother preferred to get her miniature angel figurines.
“My family and I attend church whenever we can as well.” The woman turns to someone hiding behind her. With her hands on his shoulders, the woman brings up a boy to join them. “This is my son, Henry. His sister must have gone somewhere with her friends. He is the shy one.”
Henry was just as neatly dressed as his mother, but not as chirpy. He says nothing, keeping his hands in front of him.
“Oh, but solitude is a good trait to have, Mrs. Creel,” Mama nods encouragingly. “Makes kids stay out of trouble so that they can spend more time learning about the Lord. Just like my daughter.”
The mother smiled a little and looked down at Henry. “Yes, that's what we are hoping for. Aren’t we?” The boy did not reply, maintaining eye contact on the ground.
The woman’s face faltered at Henry for a second before looking up at them again with her same bright expression and comments, “What a shame that you and your daughter are moving away so soon. Perhaps these two would have gotten more time to become friends.”
Carrie’s mother pursed her lips together before putting on a tight smile. Carrie knew that no matter which boy it was, Mama wanted them all to stir far away from Carrie. “I suppose so, but everything goes according to God’s plan, Mrs. Creel, and we must abide by it.” Mama holds her cross around her neck as she assures her. “If He wants something to occur, it will happen however we least expect it.”
After both mothers gave their final goodbyes. Henry leaves with his mother, never uttering a single word.
X
Carrie opens her eyes, meeting the blue sky above her. She is walking in the middle of an empty road. Carrie rubs her eyes until she feels the blood that is still smeared on her hand. She blinks rapidly, her senses coming back to her. Carrie’s feet sting from pain as her high heels step on the hard concrete. She has been walking without any sort of direction since last night, dozing off every couple of minutes, but only had one particular dream.
Carrie has no idea why she remembered the church boy now after all these years. Perhaps it is her mind wanting to escape the reality of her life, the part of Carrie wishing to be a little girl again like her mother always wanted her to be.
A tickle in her throat makes Carrie cough. Her drenched dress is making her feel colder. Shortly after Carrie sees a pile of trash bags piled on the side of the road. They must have fallen off someone’s truck. It was like, dare she say, a work of a miracle. Carrie stops to search through the bags until she finds an old blanket. She uses it to wipe the blood off her face and hair before wrapping it around her waist. She shivers as she continues to walk.
The road is still far ahead of her. Everything is quiet. The only thing Carrie can hear is her growling stomach with one demand.
Apple pie. Last time she had told Mama she didn’t want any because it flared up her pimples. But Carrie could really go for some right now.
Carrie continues walking, her eyes closing every few seconds. Her hunger and sleepiness were weighing her down, but she somehow still has the strength to keep going. She thought she would walk forever until a few minutes later, the gray clouds moved just enough for the sun's rays to peek down and brighten her path. Carrie stops in front of the familiar sign that reads “Welcome to Hawkins.”
Carrie’s heart jumps. This was far too much of a coincidence. She somehow made it back to her childhood town without even knowing, just when she had just dreamed it. Was this perhaps a literal sign from heaven?
Carrie continues walking down the road, wondering if Hawkins still looks the same as it used to before. However, she knew better than to go out into the main streets looking like this. So instead Carrie steps out of the road and goes towards a crowd of trees, leading her into the forest.
The sound of a crow croaking echoes down the path. Not being able to take the pain in her feet anymore, Carrie takes off her high heels, tossing them aside and walks barefoot on the grass. She needs to find somewhere to rest. Her legs felt like they were going to fall off.
A few feet away in the middle of the grass is a pile of firewood. Another miracle! She thinks. Carrie quickly goes over, kneeling next to it as she puts her blanket aside. The wood hasn’t been used yet. Carrie had never made a fire before. She rubs the pieces of wood together several times, but not a single spark appears. She continues getting more aggravated with every failed attempt, wishing that her powers could have included the fire element.
“Hey! What are you doing to our wood?”
Two men surround Carrie. She jumps to her feet, quickly grabbing onto the blanket to cover her bloody dress. Carrie’s heart hammers when she notices the shotgun that one of them carried.
This isn’t a miracle, it was a trap.
“I-I’m sorry, I didn’t know this was yours.” Carrie’s voice quivers as she steps back.
As the men got closer, they scan her up and down with disgusted looks.
“Holy shit. What slaughterhouse did you come from?” One of them snickered.
“I'm warning you.” Her voice was quiet but losing the gentleness from before. “Leave me alone.”
“Calm down, girl.” The man holds the shotgun close to his side. “All we wanna know is how you got here.”
His friend whispers next to him, “Isn’t that the crazy bitch in the newspaper? The one who set a high school on fire?
Carrie keeps backing away and looks behind her. Seeing that there is no other way of escape, she takes a deep breath as she lets the blanket drop from her hand. Carrie swore she wouldn’t do this again, but she is growing tired of these men. They were making her stomach curl and her head buzz, just like how she felt at prom.
Carrie remembers that she also swore to herself that she would never let anyone humiliate her ever again.
Her hand was about to move when suddenly, one of the men yelled as he was lifted into the air, dropping his shotgun to the ground.
“W-what the hell?!” The other man backs away as he stares up in horror. His friend was frozen in the air with his arms stuck to his sides, struggling to scream. From the trees on their left, Carrie sees a young, blonde boy approach with his hand stretched in front of him. He sternly stares at the man in the air who gasps and wheezes, like he was being choked.
Carrie’s mind is still struggling to understand what was happening. It wasn’t until the other man got behind the boy, the gun now in his hands, his hands shaking as he pointed that Carrie finally felt the pressure on her body force her to act.
“No!”
With that, the gun‘s direction is pointed up at the sky, and with a bang, the man’s friend lands on the floor with the bullet through his chest.
The boy turns towards the remaining man. Before he could react, the man is thrown against the tree. When he attempts to run away, Carrie makes his neck simply snap, making him fall on his knees before sprawling onto the grass.
Carrie breathes heavily, still feeling adrenaline of her powers burning through her body.
The boy turned to her, looking a lot calmer than she was. “I assume you must be Carrie White?”
Carrie whips out her hand again as a warning. “Who are you?”
Henry blinks. “You really don’t remember me?”
Carrie thinks her suspicion was impossible, but she whispers, “Henry?”
The boy from her church, the one who she had just dreamed about, stood there a lot taller than before, but it was his same neatly kept blonde hair and the monotonous expression shadowing his blue eyes that confirmed it.
Henry nods. “I’m sure it was my mother who made the biggest impression on you that day. She tends to do that to everyone. Yours did as well, I’m sure. ” Henry talks like they were having a normal conversation that wasn’t happening next to two dead men.
Not letting her guard down, Carrie circles around him, her hand still up. “What are you doing here? And how did you . . .” her voice trails off as she struggles to sort out her jumbled-up brain. The only coherent thought that comes across is when Carrie notices blood running down Henry’s nose.
“You’re bleeding.”
For the first time, Henry smiles a little before wiping his nose. “I think I’m not the one whose bloody appearance is concerning.”
Carrie mumbles, “It’s not my blood.”
Giving a short nod, Henry looks down at her dress. “I figured. It must have been quite a party.”
Carrie narrows her eyes at him. “I’m not in the mood for jokes,” She finally drops her arm and starts walking away from him, but Henry gets in front of her. “What do you want?” She barks.
“I heard about what happened. Our towns aren’t so far away from each other.” Henry explains, paying no mind to Carrie’s glare. “I wanted to help a friend.”
“Friends? We never even talked.”
Henry shrugs. “Whatever you want to call it. Either way, we both murdered these men, and I think that makes us something. Accomplices, at best.
“I didn't need your help.” Carrie huffs. She runs her hands through her hair, feeling the anxiety and anger still knotted in her chest. It wasn’t until she got overwhelmed that she sits under a tree. “I don’t know what’s going on,” she mutters, rubbing her head. “Everything is out of control.”
Henry stands next to her as he looks around the forest. “I would say this situation got under control a lot better than it would have.“
“No, you don’t get it,” Carrie digs her fingernails in the dirt. “I’ve done terrible things, Henry. Awful things.” The sobs that Carrie had buried are now swelling in her throat. “My mother was right. I-I’m the devil. So many people are gone, all because of my sins!” She buries her head into her hands. “All because I disobeyed-“
“Hey, stop.” Henry puts his hand on her shoulder. When she doesn’t listen, he kneels in front of her, grabbing her arms and forcing Carrie to look at him.
“Stop. Crying.” Henry’s voice is firm but gentle. “It’s not going to get us anywhere. Take a deep breath.”
Carrie closes her eyes and inhales deeply before exhaling a couple of times. After a minute, Carrie feels calm enough to acknowledge the reality of who this boy was.
“You’re like me. “
“Yes.” Henry lets go of her and sit down. “I’m guessing your powers developed as a child too.”
Carrie looks at the grass. “Not until later. It just happened one day in school and. . .” She brings her knees up to her chin, not being able to say anything more without feeling the burning shame of the day when she first got her period, humiliated in front of everyone.
“My mama said I was born from sin,” she adds quietly. “That is the reason why I am like this.”
“And do you believe that?” Henry stares at Carrie.
“I don’t know . . . I don’t know what to believe in anymore,” Carrie turns over her red hands as she looks at them. She thought she had all the answers when she first got her powers, but now Carrie is just as lost as before.
“My mother used to tell me that too.” Henry picks up a small spider that is crawling on the bark of the tree. “She was a hypocrite, calling herself a Christian, yet she kept hiding away from her own sins.” Henry settles the spider on the grass. “What a surprise it was for her,” he says with a dry smile, “for a child to destroy the lie she’s been living in.”
Carrie stares at the spider crawl away as she remembers how her mother has raised her. The way she made Carrie recite the several passages worth of prayers, hitting her every time she wanted to do something that she wanted for once, and locking her inside the closet for hours until Carrie was begging for forgiveness, and it was all done in the name of being good for God only for all of it to be destroyed in a high school dance.
Suddenly, an odd feeling starts to rise from Carrie’s chest. It was something that Carrie didn’t think she would ever do again until everything that has occurred clicked together.
Carrie bursts out laughing.
Henry actually looks startled as Carrie falls to the grass and cackles loudly, making herself be heard everywhere in the forest. The tree seems to shake from the vibration.
“What’s so funny?”
Carrie’s cheeks are bright red as she tries to catch her breath. “It’s just hilarious don’t you think?” she sputters as she gets up. “How hard our mothers tried to do everything to keep us down the “good” and “holy” yet everything still went straight to hell!” Carrie’s fist hits the tree, her strength causing a large tree branch to almost fall over them, and she wheezes more laughter.
Henry watches as Carrie gets to the center of the forest, spreading her arms out dramatically. “Of course, none of it works. People like them are the devil. That’s why none of it mattered!” Breathing deeply, Carrie’s eyes lowered to the ground. “None of it mattered,” she states, quieter. “We were damned from the beginning.”
With that, Carrie slowly goes back to where Henry is. She sits down under the tree, turning away from him as she leans her head back against the tree. Carrie’s stomach aches from the intensity of her laughter. She becomes quiet again as she regains her composure, the familiar emotional numbness settling on her once more.
“You’re looking at it wrong.” Henry finally says. “This isn’t damnation, it’s redemption.” Carrie can hear him lean forward. “We both have a gift, and if we work together, we can be our own saviors. You’ve already proven it.
Carrie slightly snorts. “I don’t think there’s anything heroic about destroying my high school prom.”
“It’s a start.” She knew Henry was smiling. “We both can learn from each other. I can even learn to teach you more about how to keep your abilities more stable.”
Henry leans away when Carrie sits up and sighs through her nose. “How do I know if I can trust you?”
Henry shrugs. “You don’t. But your options are limited, and you don’t really have anything more left to lose.”
Carrie’s eyes meet Henry’s again, and she sees a childlike determination in him that Carrie finds comforting. She barely knew Henry, yet Carrie felt closer to him than anyone she’s been with. They both were the only people in the world who understood each other. Carrie needs that the most.
Henry gets up to his feet. “But we’ll have to get you cleaned up first.” He points across the forest. “There’s a lake close by here. I can bring you some clothes and from there we can find a place to stay. “
Henry offers his hand down at her. When she still hasn't moved, Henry looks away, his face falling slightly as it seems the answer was no.
Instead, Carrie says. “Only on one condition.” Henry looks at her again, slightly raising his eyebrow.
“Can we get some apple pie afterward? I’m starving.”
Henry smiles. “Sure.”
As a new sense of hope grows for her, Carrie grins and takes Henry’s hand.
Perhaps it was all part of God’s plan after all.

I was saving all of my wishes for the Scaramouche/The Wanderer this month originally, and I’ve spent so much time this month doing as much as I could and going on every day (I’ve waited since he as a character got thrust upon us on Inazuma) fr but they just got a friggin award like my baby I’ve beeen here since then begins when everyone was like wtf u talkin about so i stopped rambling about it all the time BUT ANYWAY I spent oneONE wish just as a treat today and I got Heizou?!!?!?????!!!!? I am DEAD I REALLY WANTED HIM I DONT CARE HE IS ROSARIAS SECRET LOVE CHILD ANYWAY faaaaaaa. I wished twice more and was like NO STOP.
All the rest is being saved for the Scaramouche drop that is my birthday present to myself n I’ve worked hard for it as I don’t spent on this game like others can I sometimes treat myself to Welkin Moon but I like to know most most what I’ve done work wise was game graft not money plus I’m not rich so I can’t just drop money on it all the time like some can but this has to be the best luck, I hope it hasn’t jinxed me getting Scara but I have so many wishes stores HOPEFULLY it’ll work or tbh I’ll probably just “passed away” lmfao, bring back scara aueeee his bloody bio story is so relatable it’s unnerving and I’ve been waiting 2 years for this precious honcho since joining the game deep in its early days rinsing it when no one else wanted to I’m that fan. But it’s not just that. This game is a lot it was there on days I literally cannot get up to make my own food to eat nor drink, the game got released around the time a horrific life changing event happened to me so it’s a Big Deal for me which is why I’m rambling, and it’s kept me healthy in times of distress, pain, or instead of seeking others methods that would be bad for me so I’m so glad this game is a thing and accessible like it is as I can’t go sit at a computer like everyone else always not could I of until I savers up for one for a few years to get one. Idk I’m so happy to be on this journey and being able to be which is a lot to say about literally most games not being accessible to mobile or disabled people as easier to our access! Or poorer people who can only afford a phone and not a laptop and Xbox etc or whatever for the privilege of a decent accessible game.
