Sebastian’s Wand
Tumblr media
My personal headcanon: aspen wood, dragon heartstring core, 12-13 inches, unbending flexibility
Starting with the wood, I’m fairly certain that Sebastian’s wand is made from aspen. The description for aspen wood wands scream Sebastian, and given how prominent dueling is for his character (and being one of the first things we learn about him), it seems like such an intentional choice on the developers behalf to have chosen this while designing his wand. Like “Ah, this one’s all about dueling, it’s perfect for Sebastian!”The color of aspen wood is described as “pale light yellow to nearly white” which matches the color of Sebastian’s wand perfectly.
“Wand-quality aspen wood is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by all wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its usually outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is one of those particularly suited to martial magic. An infamous and secretive eighteenth-century duelling club, which called itself The Silver Spears, was reputed to admit only those who owned aspen wands. In my experience, aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders; this is a wand for revolutionaries.” – Mr. Ollivander
Tumblr media
Now, let’s move on to the core! I’m more conflicted about this one. All I know for sure is that I highly doubt his wand has a unicorn hair core because we know those don’t mix well with dark magic, and Sebastian wouldn’t have been able to cast all three of the unforgivable curses so easily if he had a unicorn core. It’s possible yeah, but they seemed to come so naturally to him which makes me highly doubt it.
Side note: Draco had a unicorn hair core wand, and even if he did end up attempting to use AK on Dumbledore, I believe it would have failed due to this. His intent would have needed to be foolproof to overcome the core, and he was hesitating to begin with. It would take a very dark wizard like Voldemort to turn a unicorn core wand dark, and that’s not Sebastian.
That leaves either a dragon heartstring or a phoenix feather core.
Dragon: As a rule, dragon heartstrings produce wands with the most power, and which are capable of the most flamboyant spells. Dragon wands tend to learn more quickly than other types. While they can change allegiance if won from their original master, they always bond strongly with the current owner. The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord. It is also the most prone of the three cores to accidents, being somewhat temperamental.
Phoenix: This is the rarest core type. Phoenix feathers are capable of the greatest range of magic, though they may take longer than either unicorn or dragon cores to reveal this. They show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike. Phoenix feather wands are always the pickiest when it comes to potential owners, for the creature from which they are taken is one of the most independent and detached in the world. These wands are the hardest to tame and to personalise, and their allegiance is usually hard won.
Tumblr media
I’m leaning towards dragon because “The dragon wand tends to be easiest to turn to the Dark Arts, though it will not incline that way of its own accord.” While this certainly doesn’t narrow out the phoenix feather (Tom Riddle had one), it does make me think about just how easily Sebastian was able to cast the unforgivables. Dragon wands are also “capable of the most flamboyant spells” and flamboyance does describe Sebastian well, along with “somewhat temperamental.” These traits are supposed to be about the wand itself though, not necessarily the owner.
The only thing with phoenix feathers that seems Sebastian-like to me is that the wands “show the most initiative, sometimes acting of their own accord, a quality that many witches and wizards dislike.” We know Sebastian acts this way, but this is supposed to be about the wand itself, and I don’t think Sebastian would be happy with a wand like that. Phoenix cores are also so rare that Harry and Voldemort are the only people in original series confirmed to have had one. It’s a very MC-esque core.
We should also keep in mind that, according to HP Wiki, certain wand woods can react with certain cores in unique ways, affecting the wand's personality and/or magical abilities. Based on what we know, dragon cores do seem like they’d be more suited for an aspen wood wand because I’m sure the power of the core goes along well with a wood suited for dueling. Phoenix feathers are even more powerful though, they just take time for their power to show. I’m still kind of conflicted so POLL TIME!!
Tumblr media
Next up is wand length! According to Ollivander, “longer wands tend to be drawn to bigger personalities, and those of a more spacious and dramatic style of magic.” Longer wands also work well with taller witches and wizards and are best suited to bold personalities. This is 100% Sebastian! He has such a big personality, so I think his wand would be on the longer side.
Obviously we will never know the exact length, but based on those descriptions, it’s safe to say Sebastian has a long wand. I’m estimating 12-13 inches because his wand appears to be about the same size as his forearm, and I measured my own forearm and got a little bigger than 10 inches (as a 5’6 woman) so I added 2 inches since he’s a guy, and maybe another inch because his wand does seem a little bigger than his forearm. Very scientific, yes.
Tumblr media
Lastly, we have wand flexibility. Wand flexibility denotes the degree of adaptability and willingness to change possessed by the wand-and-owner pair. Based on this and what we know about Sebastian, his wand would be somewhere on the unbending scale because he’s stubborn as fuck. If we want specifics, I found some descriptions here and if they are canon, I think either “hard” or “unyielding” fits him the best.
Hard: A wand of this flexibility is very difficult to work with and its loyalty is not won easily. Hard wands are great for complex and advanced levels of magic, so beginning wizards and witches may find extra difficulty with this wand when it doesn't perform well for simple magic. As such, this type of wand is best suited for wizards and witches who are gifted, stubborn, and never give up. Owners of this wand also have a tendency to view things in absolutes; black or white. Some people may find them intimidating or difficult to approach.
Unyielding: A wand of this flexibility finely tunes itself to its original owner's preferences and doesn't stray from those preferences, even in the hands of a new owner; the new owner will just have to get used to it. It is particularly good for combative and healing magic. Unyielding wand owners tend to be very confident in themselves and/or in the things they believe in. They tend to be intelligent, somewhat cynical, and usually have well-defined principles that they will not stray from ever. Sometimes, this combination can lead to arrogance because of them insisting on how right they are without considering other points of view or whether or not they might be wrong.

more than they can say
pairing: mephistopheles / gn!mc
established relationship (with mephisto), implied poly!mc, mostly fluff [+ slightly suggestive themes (nothing explicit nor descriptive), with a touch of angst at the end]
seeing your skin decorated with the sigils of seven of the most powerful demons in the Devildom instills a bubbling array of emotions within him, and he finally gives in to fully showing his commitment for you.
[set in the OG timeline, pre-nightbringer]
a/n: a part of this mentions how many years it has been since the start of the exchange program, it's a rough estimate, so if you think i'm wrong pls just ignore it lol
btw, my requests are still open!
--
Mephistopheles' office in the newspaper club room is a quiet respite from the chaotic hallways of RAD, and usually he'd keep the peace for himself, too engrossed in his own work to care about Levi's yelling at Mammon to return his wallet, or the shriek of terror when Raphael rains down spears when he gets pissed. You hold a special exception, however, and use that privilege as often as you can, casually barging in during lunchtime - to annoy him again, as he would accuse - but never with any bite as to actually deter you from coming.
Despite stepping down from being club president some time ago, he's still very much active in the club, as shown by the multiple drafts and article proposals strewn across his desk. You'll often read some of them for him, and most of the time he'll roll his eyes, take the proposal from your hands, and crumple it before tossing it to the bin - his standards are high, as always.
It wasn't always like this though; you and Mephisto had a rough start on your... friendship, and it really wasn't until you became a member of the student council that he started warming up to you, before inevitably falling for your human charms, as Asmo would call it. Initially he took that phrase literally and seriously thought you cursed him with some infatuation spell, and it took Diavolo laughing at his face to realize that yeah, he was kinda stupid for thinking that - Satan's words, not his. You followed him when he stormed off the student council room that day, and you remember the flush of his cheeks when you confronted him at the gardens, how you implanted in your memory the very first time you felt his lips on yours, his hands desperately holding onto you as if the moment he'd let go, you'd run off elsewhere.
Mephisto is a prideful demon - proud of his status, his strength, his influence, his family; he takes great care in cultivating and maintaining his public image, only acting beyond what is needed during pressing matters. It's why he thinks the concept of pacts goes directly against his values, and for that reason, deems it sacrilege; maybe it's the thought of someone having complete dominion over you should they choose to act as such, or the thought of being bound to another until their souls gets harvested by the reapers - either way, he's never given it a passing thought, even when some high level witch or sorcerer called upon his name using some rudimentary summoning circle.
You asked him about it once, from before you established a relationship with him.
"Pacts? Let me tell you this ahead, human. Those brothers may have willingly given themselves to you, but do not view me the same way you do them."
You've never brought it up again, respecting his feelings on the matter.
"Hey," your thoughts come back to the present with sound of his voice. Turning to him, you cast a questioning glance.
"Yeah? Did something come up?"
"No, nothing like that," he rises from his table, piece of paper in hand. He hands it over to you, signalling you to read it. You eyes quickly scan through the paper, an article proposal of some sort.
"Hm?" you raise your brows in interest. "An interview about having pacts with the demon brothers?"
"Initially, I wanted to toss it aside, but considering that ever since the exchange program, more and more demons have been interested with pacts and such," he explains, although you sense hesitancy in his voice.
"So I assume this interview would be about me?" you inquire.
"Well, yes. Solomon does have a pact with one of the brothers, but I think the student body is more interested about the human who has pacts with all seven of them."
You pause, giving the idea some thought. On one hand, it could prove to be helpful in helping other students understand how pacts function, at least in your case. On the other hand, pacts in general seem to be a very touchy subject for some demons, having polarizing opinions across the board.
"Of course, you are in no obligation to accept. Don't feel like you have to do it," he assures, giving your head a little pat.
You shake your head, a decision already formed. "No, no. I'll do it. I think the pros outweigh the cons enough."
He quirks an eyebrow up, intrigued. "Well, if you're sure about it, then..." he pauses for a while, hesitant. "...I'll have your interview scheduled. I'll text you the details tonight."
--
It isn't long after you return home to the House of Lamentation that your D.D.D. lights up with Mephisto's name on the screen, a detailed text sent about the interview.
Friday, after class, newspaper club room. Interviewer: Mephistopheles
You send back a quick reply, thanking him for the information, although you have to wonder if he pulled some strings to be the one interviewing you. It'll be a more personal confrontation, so you wouldn't be surprised if the noble demon insisted he be the one to record everything, despite the proposal not being his in the first place. Regardless, you don't dwell on the thought for long, and go on with the rest of your day.
When Friday comes, Mephisto shoots you another text, reminding you about the interview. You assure him that you'll be there, although a bit later than expected as Lord Diavolo asked you to help you sort through some files in the student council room. He puts up no complaints and urges you to finish as fast as you can, to get this over with, as he says in the text.
--
"I've heard from Mephisto that you'll be interviewed today regarding your pacts?" Diavolo inquires while the two of you go through some documents. Barbatos is somewhere in the corner, arranging some more files for Lucifer to go through at a later time.
"Yeah, I thought it wouldn't hurt to do," you answer. "Plus, there's been a lot of interest lately regarding my relationship with the brothers lately, so I thought it'd be better to go for it now rather than have some random rumor go around."
"Hm, you do have a point," he takes a sip of tea from a cup right next to him, thoughts elsewhere rather than the stack of papers in front of him. "I must admit, even I'm curious about how you went through with it. I only know of Lucifer's since I asked."
"Nothing special, for the most part, really. Although funnily enough, Lucifer helped me out with Mammon's," you laughed, recalling the entire Goldie-in-the-freezer debacle.
"Hah, it sounds like a good story. I'll be looking forward to reading the interview!"
--
The newspaper club room is empty, save for a lone demon steeping a select brew of tea. The smell indicates that it's your favorite, and a smile graces your lips as you approach the demon from behind, careful not to alert him of your arrival. You feel him freeze for a second the moment you wrap your arms around him from his back, but he immediately relaxes once he realizes who the perpetrator is.
"You're late," he chastises, but there's no bite to his voice. You release him from your hug and approach his side, eager for the tea he's brewing. He catches on fairly quick.
"Go take a seat, I'll bring the tea over once it's done, then we can start the interview."
You hum in acknowledgment, shuffling your way to one of the room's lounge couches. It's rare that the club's main room is this quiet, as usually there's always someone else typing away at their keyboard, or cursing at the printer for not working. Mephisto follows not long after, placing the tea set at the table, pouring you a cup before he does for himself, and takes his seat on a chair in front of you. He stations a recorder in the middle, taking a notebook and flipping through its pages, landing on what you assume to be the pre-prepared questions.
"Whenever you're ready," you signal to him. Nodding his head, he clicks the record button on the recorder, clearing his throat to start.
The start of the interview goes without a hitch - Mephisto introduces himself and you, and he asks fairly simple questions to start. You answer all of them in stride as he jots down any important details in his notes. A little while later is when the heavier questions come in.
"Since you've joined the transfer program roughly three years ago, you've made your own mark on the Devildom. Among such achievements was gaining pacts with all seven avatars of sin. Can you tell us how you went about it?"
"Well," you pause, in thought. "My very first pact was with Mammon, who was assigned to take care of me when I first arrived. Truthfully, I gained his pact in more or less a bargain involving a credit card. It's a long story," you take another pause to laugh at the memory. "Next was Leviathan, who made a pact with me after I beat him in a TSL trivia contest."
You then recount how you made pacts with all the brothers as accurately as you could, refraining from going off topic, as much as you wanted to tell the story of how Satan and Lucifer switched bodies.
"Finally, Lucifer made a pact with me on the last day of the exchange program," you end with the eldest, softly reminiscing that night in his study. "It was... a night I would never forget."
"I see..." Mephisto doesn't miss the tone change of your voice when you say that, and it took all of his willpower to prevent his emotions from showing on his face - keep it professional, he chastises himself in his head, but the more stories you recount of how you got your pacts, each one just as significant as the last, the more emotions start to bubble in his gut. He swallows it all down, pretending to be unaffected, and proceeds with the interview.
"How very... insightful," you notice the slightest bit of bitterness in his voice, although you chalk it up to your hearing, unaware of the mental turmoil going through Mephisto's head. He breathes in, clearing his throat to compose himself.
"Was there any particular reason why you wanted to have pacts with them?"
"Hm..." another pause. You're aware you have to be careful on how you answer this, as the incident with Belphegor has never left the walls of the house.
"I was... trying to help a friend out, initially," you construct a reason while also trying to be truthful. "But eventually it went from that to my pacts being a symbol of who I am to them, and them to me."
"Could you elaborate further?" he presses.
"The brothers are important to me, and I to them. Having pacts with them means that even if we're realms apart, we are always connected. At least, that's how I view it," you smile softly. "I can't control how other humans use their pacts, but to me, it transcends having a demon on your beck and call. It's a two-way street grounded in communication and mutual understanding."
"I... I see."
The air is silent for a moment, the quiet ticking of the recorder being the only backdrop. You glance questioningly at Mephisto, who seemed to be deep in a daze.
"Mephisto?"
"Ah- Sorry," he composes himself, fixing his posture. "I got lost in thought for a second, I apologize."
"It's okay," you assure him. "Do you have anymore questions?"
"Y-Yes," he drifts his eyes back to his notebook. "Your... uh, pact marks, do you keep them visible?"
"Some of them are pretty easy to hide," you start pointing at different areas of your body. "But they're pretty easy to hide with magic. Solomon taught me how to."
"Is there... a specific reasoning for the placements?"
"For the most part, yes. Although... when I made my pact with Mammon, it was a bit haphazard, so we didn't really get to think it through."
The demon across you nods, his eyes fixed on yours. As if in a trance, you hold the gaze along.
"Last question."
He inhales.
"If... If another demon were to ask for a pact with you, how would you respond?"
"Well..." you start, formulating a thought. It's an odd question, and you can't help but think there was some underlying meaning to it. "...It depends. Unlike Solomon, I'd rather only have pacts with demons I... hold with personal importance."
He nods silently, although you don't miss the way his shoulders release from tension, almost in relief. He reaches over and clicks stop on the recorder, signifying the end of the interview.
"Thank you for your time. It was... an insightful interview," he stands up, patting his school coat down.
"Is there... something else you wanted, Mephisto?" you inquire, noticing the way he keeps glancing and looking away from you, sensing hesitancy in his person. He responds with a sharp inhale, walking over to stand in front of you, kneeling down to your level.
"Mephisto...?" flustered and confused, you allow him to take your hand, his temperature chilly. You can tell he's nervous about something.
"May I... May I see your pact marks?"
You didn't expect the question, and for a moment you stare at him in surprise. His eyes though, are transfixed to yours, sincere in his request.
"I... I don't mind, but may I ask why...?"
"It's simply... out of curiosity. I won't push you if you're uncomfortable with it."
"No, no, it's fine," you assure him again. Slowly, you start unbuttoning your school coat before he assists you in taking it off, folding it neatly to the side, all still while kneeling in front of you. You roll the sleeves of your inner shirt, unbuttoning the first few buttons, unsure if you should continue. You look at him, his face flustered, as he mumbles a soft "you don't need to take it all off." Laughing lightly, you take his hand, chanting the spell to undo the concealment of your pacts. One by one, they appear across your skin, as he glances upon each one as they show.
The marks span scattered across your entire body, from your arms, to your chest, to your back. Mephisto takes his finger and traces around them, being particular about not touching them. He furrows his brows when he comes across a prominent mark - Lucifer's, easy to tell with its commanding presence on your skin. You shudder when he encircles its perimeter, still careful not to actually touch any of it. He stops when he reaches your wrist, grasping it lightly with both of his hands, before bringing it to his face as he plants a kiss where your pulse is. If your face wasn't already red - your entire body is now, too.
"Mephisto...?" you whisper, yet his eyes still linger on the space where he planted a kiss.
"Would you... would you laugh at me if I asked you to make a pact with me?" his voice quivers, hesitant, yet clear. He raises his head to meet your eyes, and you chalk it up to your imagination when his looks fiercely verdant, even more so than usual.
You take your free hand, cupping his cheek. He leans into your touch, but his eyes don't waver, anticipating an answer.
"Why would I laugh?" you finally respond.
"I've told you before why I deemed pacts unnecessary... Yet, when you speak about yours, I can't help but long for a stronger connection with you. I fear it's... quite unbecoming of me to feel this way," he breathes out, as if he's been holding it in his entire life. Leaning forward, you kiss the space between his eyes, and he hums in gratuity.
"Mephisto..." his eyes return to you, as the grip on your hand becomes firmer.
"Would you like to make a pact with me?"
His response is wordless, taking your wrist he's been holding this entire time. Bringing it close to his face once again, he closes his eyes, as you feel the familiar surge of magic seep into you when a pact is formed.
"From now, until the end of our days," he whispers, setting your hand down. A new sigil on the wrist pulse where he kissed makes itself known to you, his fingers mindlessly tracing it like a familiar memory.
"I am yours," he finishes.
When you lean down to meet his lips in a desperate kiss, you feel him smile, and he tastes the tears that run down your face from his bold profession.
--
Mephisto is, as usual, at his desk in the newspaper club room. It's one of those nights that demanded his full attention, deadlines fast approaching, so he works overtime, going through and proofreading every article before gaining his final stamp of approval.
He stands up stretching, eager to take a break from his workload. Noticing the empty teapot on his table, he takes it to brew another batch of tea. He scans his options until he lands on a familiar brew - your favorite. Smiling to himself, he takes said brew, preparing to steep it to accompany him on the final leg of his work.
That is, until a sharp jolt passes through his chest, prompting him to drop the pot into countless pieces as he keels over in searing pain. It's unlike anything he's experienced before, almost as if something is being ripped off of him.
It's then that he finally notices.
Initially thinking of it as a trick of light, he hurriedly rips off his gloves, to where his pact mark with you was etched - on his wrist, the same space where he gave you his mark.
It's gone.
It's gone, and he can't feel you.
Scrambling to his feet, he races back to his desk, uncaring of the mess he's making, throwing the documents across the room to finally, finally get to his D.D.D.
Before he can even open the thing and dial for your contact, the screen lights up.
Lucifer's calling.
He's thankful that the hallways of RAD are completely empty at this hour, as the moment he hangs up on his call with the demon of pride, he lets out the most anguished, distressed scream the academy's walls will ever know, your name buried in echoes.
--
a/n: after rereading i realize the ending might imply you died, but no i promise it's just a cheeky little way to connect to your disappearance in nightbringer help

infodump time!
this is for my TOH au, some basic information for the big three of the cast and what their roles are! aaaand maybe also a sketch dump since I have too many pencil drawings of this au...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dr. Henry Jekyll
Leader of the Secret Society for Wild Magic. Also a part-time potions seller.
After graduation from Hexside, his initial aspiration was to join the Emperor’s Coven. As such, he began trying to test out his magical prowess and became a curse researcher, collecting rare curses (akin to Eda’s) and began looking for cures. While some of his methods proved effective, during this time Jekyll was deeply absorbed into his work and started neglecting his own health, leading Lanyon and Rachel to become very worried for him.
One night, while researching a particularly gruesome curse, Jekyll believed he finally worked out a cure. With no other subjects, he could only test it on himself. Thus, potion in hand, he decided it was a great idea to go curse himself with a cure that he believed was mostly effective.
Lo and behold, that was the first transformation. The curse lashed out in black ribbons, enveloping Jekyll before diving straight into his heart, issuing several screams from the brunette until all that was left was a bundle of loose clothes, shattered glass, scraps of paper leftover from the curse and research, and one tiny blonde gremlin among said loose clothes. Thus, that very night, Hyde was born. A curse that should’ve killed Jekyll, torn his very body apart, taken control over the leftover scraps, now resides in his body as half of himself, shares his memories and would become the mask Jekyll uses to indulge in activities he finds unacceptable for himself to engage in. The potion that failed to cure the curse is now the key to transforming into each other.
With Hyde, Jekyll quickly realised that joining the Emperor’s Coven is no longer a feasible choice for himself and instead, with Lanyon’s help (due to his family being super wealthy and influential) was able to pull some strings and fake a Potions coven sigil, thus taking suspicion off of him while keeping his status as a wild witch.
His palisman is a crow named Crowley. His staff also never initially had the red gem lmao, he stuffed it in himself to try and give it a more sophisticated look. He also has ear piercings! First made just to get Hyde to stop whining, he later decided he may as well wear something, namely tiny black diamond studs.
Mr Edward Hyde
bithc.
Jekyll’s personal “assistant”. A trader and scammer at the Night Market. He often enjoys committing petty crimes and also trades his potions for rare ingredients required for more powerful spells. Sometimes he’d even bring a few of the Lodgers to sell their inventions too, to make sure the Society still has snails to spare for basic necessities. Most of what Hyde earns in the Night Market goes to his nighttime adventures, but whatever’s left by the time he transforms back will be used by Jekyll to keep the lights on in the secret Society. Besides the Night Market, he likes to go drinking at the sketchier parts of Bonesborough, often getting into skirmishes and bar fights. He relies on Jekyll’s magic and rarely ever uses his palisman to avoid divulging his identity. For transportation, he prefers teleportation spells or magic some wings to make a quick escape. No, he’s not a bird beast. I’ve long decided he is not some crow beast or something, he’s just an amalgamation of Jekyll’s worst traits.
He has about the same relationship with Jekyll as in TGS, perhaps even more tense as Jekyll is very concerned about ensuring that Hyde keeps a low profile and does not reveal the fact he’s a wild witch. Hyde hides it about as well as you’d expect, and eventually the information that he doesn’t have a sigil is picked up by the Emperor’s Coven. He’s never gotten caught before though, oh, and he also idolizes Eda the Owl Lady very much, but never goes to find her, since he’s terrified of Hooty.
The oopsy-doopsy arson will still happen, which I will cover eventually but bottom line is it’ll make Belos strengthen efforts into finding and tracing Hyde’s roots. Through the following disagreements and punishment from Jekyll, Hyde learns he can block Jekyll from using his magic for short bursts of time, and eventually with practice, longer periods spanning from hours to days.
He also has silver ring earrings. Every time he transforms he takes the time to take off Jekyll’s plain black diamond studs to replace it with them and I find that funny.
Dr. Robert Lanyon
A master illusionist, one of Jekyll’s closest friends and co-runner of the Society. Also helps around Jekyll’s potions business.
He’s the reason Jekyll was able to stay a wild witch in the first place. He was able to use his Illusion magic to fake a sigil for Jekyll and using his position of power, pulled some strings to prevent the scouts from investigating further. His father is a prosperous Constructions witch who helps Belos strengthen the castle and fortify bases for scouts throughout Bonesborough, earning him a position of high rank in the Isles. Lanyon despises it though, and took Illusions to spite his father, who wanted him to take a more “useful” track in school such as Abominations or Constructions so he would have more job opportunities. Outside attending dinner parties or finishing errands for his father, he does whatever he wants, usually sneaking off to parts of Bonesborough or to the Society to see Jekyll. He doesn’t even necessarily attend dinner parties, often preferring to have an illusion of himself attending. Lanyon Sr pretends not to notice this.
Unaware of Jekyll’s curse, he hated the idea of Hyde being affiliated with him and yet always so dangerously on the brink of exposing his identity as a wild witch, but so long as Hyde continues helping the Society stay afloat and doesn’t get caught, Lanyon keeps his thoughts to himself. That is, until the arson changes everything. While he helps sort out the paperwork and aids Jekyll in keeping the Society hidden, he is not close to any of the Lodgers and prefers to pretend he isn’t associated with them, mostly out of concern and to keep suspicion off him and by extension, his dear friend.
He has the most insane piercings too, with large gold spheres resembling Eda’s, along with two more piercings further up his ears.
also, minor thing but I've finally given this au a proper name lol, it's now called The Crow House after Jekyll's palisman, which is a crow! I've also updated the tag for it in my pinned post so not to worry!

When do you think Klaus first realized he was in love with Hayley?
That's a tough question, really cause I think there were several moments through all seasons where you can tell that he was clearly and irrevicably in love with her but then they both go back to hostility so it's impossible to maintain consistency of it but only when we look at the words. The action, each and everyone is the greatest proof that he loved her since the first season.
He had initial attraction towards her when they had a one night stand. But they deepen their bonding, especially when he finds out she's like him, a cast away who learned to fight . And the intimacy blooms until Elijah Mikaelson yours truly, ruins everything and makes Klaus reserved and cold again but by the nothing true scene Klaus's feelings have definitely deepened to what we call love and it's most clearly visible after the witches kill Hayley and kidnap Hope but Klaus stays there holding Hayley's lifeless body with the most pained expression anyone can ever have instead of chasing after the witches. (So yeah he loves her for sure by then)
In season 2, we see his love less openly and frequently as the number of obstacles have multiplied in the form of previously Elijah, now Jackson. But it's visible when he threatens to deposit Jackson's head on a pike if he betrays Hayley, also when he has the most resigned and defeated look possible on his face during Jackson and Hayley's wedding and lastly when he curses her pack into wolf forms instead of slaughtering them even though in Klaus's eyes taking Hope away is like the highest of crimes simply because no matter how much he loathes the action, he can't bear to see Hayley dead.
Season 3 though? Klaus might as well be yelling I LOVE YOU HAYLEY every five minutes. Verbally humiliates him, physically hits him, Klaus's can't even hit back. Sees Hayley hug hope after so long and is literally oozing guilt, like hello since when does Klaus feel guilty for punishing someone. Apologizes to her, saying he was wrong, tell her he trusts her for the second time(HAS NEVER SAID IT EVEN ONCE TO ANY OTHER CHARACTER) , literally thanks her for not abandoning him even though he gave her a thousand reasons and now the chefs kiss KNEELS FOR HER, to save her , and we are talking about the most proud being in entire tvdu.
Counts on her to save his family and him and raise Hope and fully relinquishes his life, the lives of his siblings to her when they are all on the verge of death.
I could talk about this for ages but here's the gist, Klaus began to love her when she stood up against Mikael for him, his father who made Hayley hear every horrible profanity he could attach to Klaus and yet she looks him in the eye and says Mikael said nothing true with so much sincerety that Klaus is at a loss of words. And he spends the next episodes and season trying to stifle the feeling but by season 3 it was basically a public declaration. Sorry for not giving you one specific moment cause they all kind of contribute invaluably. (Thanks a ton for asking this question, one of the best ones)

@rake-rake
It wasn't often Mortem woke up feeling annoyed but then again, she often didn't wake up from a century long slumber impaled within an iron maiden. But it was time for a long overdue spell to finish its cast and release the witch back into the world.
The havoc left in her wake was surprisingly minimal, a handful of corpses and an overturned truck that they had been escorting her in. And in the time between then and now she had found a river to scream beneath the waters of before changing into a dress that wasn't full of blood and holes.
The sun was warm and bright, lovely to a point. A new day, a new era. She felt behind on the times without even being certain of just what that time was. Out on a rural road she walked, brows furrowed in contemplation until she felt something breach her wide perceptive net. Swiftly she dipped behind the nearest tree, though the presence was further back... where she initially came from. The witch's gaze narrowed; the energy in that direction was unusual, even by cursed energy standards. She had already deduced the country she was in by the abundance alone but this-- if she was to put down a pursuer, it best be now. She possessed more than enough to eviscerate someone strong, if need be.
Tumblr media
The witch backtracked, dipping off the road and shallowly into the forest until she came to the site once more and witnessed a lone man standing there. Yet another tree she kept behind, void eyes staring ahead as she tried to discern the strangeness of his soul. This wasn't her hunters, this was something different that arrived within such a short time. A sorcerer, no doubt, but why?
She was quiet as could be down to hardly taking a breath, her own soul masked to humanize herself as much as possible. A disgusting but necessary thing at this time as she observed him; caught between deciding on whether to confront the unaware stranger or if leaving him be was wiser.

Devouring Debt
Necromancy [curse] [evil] Antipaladin 4, Bard 6, Occultist 6, Oracle 7, Shaman 7, Witch 6
Casting time: 4 hours Components: V, S, M (a lengthy letter of debt collection handwritten in expensive inks worth at least 2,000gp), F (an elaborate stamp of an unholy symbol of a fiendish divinity worth at least 2,000gp)
Effect: One cursed letter Duration: 1 week/Permanent; see text Saving throw: Will negates; Spell Resistance: No
Initially created by fiendish worshipers of Braismois, the Silent Quill, this terrifying and unnecessarily cruel curse has since spread outwards into other cults of various fiends of greed, terrible bargains, baseless spite, unending hunger, and relentless punishment. Even casters with no faith in a particular fiend can use this spell simply to damn another unsuspecting victim’s possessions to a lower plane, and some especially vile users of this spell have been known to carry multiple stamps to vary up their ‘donations’ to the demons, devils, and daemons.
At the end of this spell’s casting time, with one final stamp the caster creates a letter that imparts a terrible curse on whoever is foolish enough to touch it. Any creature that touches the letter, except the caster, must succeed a Will save or the become cursed, and then the letter becomes mundane. If that creature succeeds their saving throw, the curse remains dormant within the letter until a creature touches it and fails their saving throw. The caster cannot touch a creature with the letter to curse them, but they may hand the letter to that creature or compel them to take it with skills (such as Diplomacy) or with spells (such as Beguiling Gift), or leave it where a creature may pick it up or touch it unwittingly. If 7 days pass without the curse successfully triggering, the letter dissolves into ash.
Only creatures with an Int of 3 or higher with some measure of physical property and a grasp of material wealth can be affected by Devouring Debt. A creature that becomes cursed immediately becomes aware of the spell’s effects, the money they supposedly owe (always a titanic, demoralizing amount), the fiend to which the money is owed, and the consequences of failing to pay, regardless of their relative intelligence, understanding of property, or language barriers. A collection period begins immediately.
The frequency of future collection periods depends on the HD of the affected creature; a creature with 1-5 HD is affected 1/week, a creature with 6-10 HD is affected 1/three days, and a creature with 11+ HD is affected 1/day.
Each time a collection period begins, roll 1d100+100 for each collection period that has occurred. This amount, which the victim becomes aware of, is the amount in gold pieces that they must forfeit to the spell’s effects to consider their debt payed for the moment. The victim ‘pays’ by offering coins, gems, art objects, or other material goods they own which have a total combined value equal to or exceeding the rolled number. Distance between the victim and the offered items does not matter, so long as they own the items; thus they may sell off distant properties or stored belongings/money if they wish. These offered objects disappear, reappearing in the vaults or treasure pile of the fiend to which the debt has been assigned (Braismois and Mammon have specific vaults set aside for belongings received via this spell). The victim must have some measure of ownership of the items in question or they cannot be offered as payment, though they may steal items, sell them, and use the resulting money to pay off the curse. The curse imparts two additional, though Evil, ways to satisfy the debt, both of which the victim becomes aware of: if the victim slays the owner of an item, they can claim ownership and use the item to satisfy the curse. In addition, the corpses of other creatures that the victim has slain themselves may be used as objects of payment: for the purposes of this curse, the corpse of a Small or larger creature with 2 or less Int is worth 50gp times its HD, while the corpse of a creature with 3 or greater Int is worth 200gp times its HD.
The curse will not take Artifacts, intelligent items, or cursed items as payment; at the DMs discretion, it may also reject other specific items based on the preferences of the fiend to which the spell is aligned.  Paying an amount exceeding the amount assigned by the current collection period has no effect on future collection periods; i.e. even if the victim pays 1,000 gold (or offers an item worth that amount) to cover a 300 gold debt, the next collection period will still occur and they will still have to pay whatever debt is assigned.
If the victim does not or cannot pay the full debt by the time the next collection period begins, their belongings are stolen from them at random directly by the spell’s effects until the current debt is paid. If they have no belongings valuable enough to satisfy the curse, they instead take 1 point of Constitution damage per collection periods that have already occurred as their flesh, blood, bone, and organs are shorn from them as if by starving, toothed maws. This damage does not heal naturally while the curse is in effect. A creature slain by the Con damage of the curse leaves behind only a puddle of blood and viscera. The curse resists being dispelled while money is still owed to it; the check to dispel it is raised by +10 until the current collection period is satisfied. Ending the curse does not restore any lost property or flesh, though Limited Wish, Wish or Miracle, or physically going to the vaults of the assigned fiend allows a creature to retrieve lost items. Obviously, in the latter case, this carries dangers of its own.

love and trust au headcanons bc they’re lowkey slowburn and i do NOT feel like going chronological b4 talking abt them kissing
-it takes nancy a couple of weeks of testing the waters before transforming into her human form and when she does robin is literally floored bc “oh my god she’s so small….” and also like exactly her type😭
-nancy has varying degrees of human form, with the natural form being with the fluffy cat ears and tail and slit pupils, but if she tries she can make the cat features go away
-i didn’t get to go into as far into detail as i wanted regarding robin and her magic. robin’s magic is elemental and chaos based, it’s VERY powerful and in typical robin fashion leaves a mess when she gets out of hand. its destructive as hell, so her specialty IS combat even if that’s not where her interests lie. robin’s method of channeling is actually pretty unique, preferring to use an intricate dagger her mother gave her to cast spells.
-even though nancy eventually trusts and opens up to robin, she has a very clear dislike for other witches, especially those that she’s just met. when robin goes out to buy supplies and nancy accompanies her, many other store patrons are forced to endure her icy glare from her perch on robin’s shoulders
-a few people comment on this, verbally expressing their sympathy to robin for having such a hostile familiar, and robin is surprisingly pretty pissed every time someone brings this up, swiftly coming to nancy’s defense every time
-nancy purrs
-like they’ll be kissing and robin will be like “r u purring🤨” “NO”
-nancy sleeps in robin’s bed only a few weeks after joining her, but as a cat. it’s when things get romantic that she shares robin’s bed as herself
-when they get into petty arguments nancy sleeps in her cat bed as a form of protest and is always scratching at robin’s door an hour later lol
-robin wasn’t really a fan of cats before nancy, mainly because most of them hissed whenever she walked by, but she sees their charm in nancy’s little tendencies
-robin always has cat hair on her clothes, she is never free
-nancy is, naturally, very protective of robin. now whenever people sneer at robin for messing something up or just existing they live in fear of either a little demon with claws or a little woman with a gun
-robin likes to boast that she can pick nancy up in both forms
-steve is still robin’s best friend in this au (he’s a witch and eddie is his familiar) and nancy HATES him like sitcom cat level hatred but she gets along REALLY well with eddie (a massive crow)
-steve: “robin ur familiar is looking at me with murderous intent again”
robin: “her name is nancy”
-robin buys nancy both regular outfits and cat outfits (the latter of which she refuses to wear) (except for on robin’s birthday where she agrees to a cat vest)
-robin and nancy balance each other out really well, with nancy being a careful eye that keeps robin from making small mistakes and robin who lets nancy have more magical freedom than most familiars do (nancy is a big fan of curses)
-after awhile, robin never goes anywhere without nancy. if for any reason she has to she always finds herself turning to see how nancy feels about something before realizing she isn’t there.
-nancy, by extension, never feels stronger than when she’s with robin. robin is her reminder that she’s a person, not a battery or a servant, she feels way more confident pursuing what she wants when she knows robin is at her side.
-nancy initiates the first kiss after robin wins a tense witch duel with her help, its heated and clearly an impulse move. robin doesn’t immediately respond, which makes nancy pull back and run off without letting robin explain anything, a tiny blur of fur disappearing into the trees
-robin is worried out of her mind until nancy comes home much later that night. she seems set on trying to apologize when robin confesses her feelings, explains that she needed to do that first, before kissing her. nancy melts into it and quickly affirms that she feels the same, apologizing for freaking out on robin as well
-nancy’s jewelry that ties her to robin is a fine gold choker that curls close to her throat and sports tiny white crystals throughout. robin, after almost falling over bc she’s so smitten, jokes that its almost like a collar and nancy pounces on her (violence)
lmk if y’all r still interested :)

Any ideas on what the Empires SMP Season 2 characters’ worst fears are?
You know that fun trope where some demon or whatever brings the main cast’s worst fears to life? I wanna write a fanfiction where that happens to the ESMP season 2 characters, but there are very few that I’m actually sure what to do with. Even some of the content creators I do watch I’m not 100% sure about.
I’m going to go ahead and put what ideas I do have under the cut, but I’d appreciate suggestions for any of ‘em!
Pixlriffs - I always forget he exists. That alone should say how much I know about him. I’ll probably watch some of his videos before writing this fic so that if nothing else, I can at least get a feel for his personality and the way he talks and stuff.
Joey - I remember seeing a Tumblr post saying he was afraid of skeletons, but that might’ve been a joke.
fWhip - I’ll be honest, I’ve got next to nothing on this one. Maybe a cacophony blaring in his ears?
Gem - I’ve only seen her first episode so far, but I’ve heard people point out that she sleeps more than anyone else on the server. So, maybe she’s afraid of the dark. I was thinking this can manifest with her vision getting darker and darker until everywhere she looks is pitch-black.
Lizzie - Everyone finding out she’s a cat.
Jimmy - Becoming a toy that can barely even move on his own. So, kind of crossing the whole “toy” thing over with helplessness/loss of control.
Joel - Uhhhh... make him short? Weak? I don’t know.
Oli - Put him in a cage, maybe?
False - People being mad at her (and maybe attention in general). I initially thought of the demon making everyone’s tempers flare up every time they interact with her, but I’m not sure if I want it to be able to directly interfere with people’s minds. Instead, maybe it can shoot arrows at the group or something and try to frame her for it.
The thing is, though, I’m not sure if I genuinely wanted that limitation on the demon’s powers or if I just thought of it because people being magically compelled to yell at her every time they notice her makes me uncomfortable. Chickening out is for the characters, not the author! /hj
Scott - I was thinking the demon could pluck out both his eyes, but then the idea of blindness went to Gem, so unless Gem actually fears something more than the dark, I’ve got literally nothing. I want to avoid repeats if at all possible to keep things interesting.
But then, I really like this idea still because a lot of the changes I’ve thought of happen gradually (for example, Jimmy turning into a toy, assuming it’s the wooden dummy kind, is foreshadowed by his jaw aching slightly, while Gem starts off merely squinting), and Scott might be able to see the magic at work, so I like the idea of the demon plucking out his eyes to prevent any spoilers from him.
Sausage - The assassins from his kingdom of origin finding him.
Shubble - The witch academy finding her? Like I said, I want to avoid repeats, so if we’re going with something like that, I will give it to either Sausage or Shubble rather than both. I think Shubble is more likely to have more variety in what I can choose - for example, maybe she can fear her magic either not working at all or getting waaay out of control, and I can give the “scary people from their past finding them” thing to Sausage?
Katherine - The idea that maybe she is, in fact, cursed? Don’t know how this would manifest, though, since as far as I’m aware, her curse pretty much only affects her own kingdom.

Witch: A Beginner’s Guide (Some Terms to Know and Advice)
Know the risks.
Witchcraft isn’t just fun and games; perks like hexes and love spells can come with a price.
Choose your path.
There’s no shortage of types of witchcraft, meaning there’s also no shortage of choices for an aspiring witch. Rather than get overwhelmed, get your bearings by having at least a basic understanding of the terms below.
Paganism: An umbrella term for religions other than the Abrahamic faiths of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam that typically places emphasis on the earth and nature. Its modern-day practitioners are known as neo-pagans.
Wicca: A religion that’s perhaps the popularized form neo-paganism, thanks in large part to the so-called Father of Wicca, Gerald Gardner, who cultivated his specific ideology, now known as Gardnerian Wicca, in the mid-1900s. Whereas witches are typically thought of as women, many Wiccans are men and worship both a god and a goddess. What was initially thought of as an anti-monotheistic gesture, though, has more recently been criticized for espousing heterosexuality and the idea of a gender binary, which was, in part, what led to the emergence of Dianic Wicca, in the 1970s, for those who chose to only worship the goddess and to do so only in the presence of women—a policy that’s since proven to be problematic, as many of its covens prohibit transgender women.
Ceremonial: The by-the-book practice of placing the highest value in—not to mention expertly executing—ceremonies and rituals.
Solitary: This group is made up of those who choose not to find a coven, but instead operate on their own with the type (or mix) of witchcraft that they choose.
Eclecticism: A more social route for those who choose not to stick to a particular category but instead mix traditions as they please.
*note: the above is by no means an extensive or complete list, but does provide several examples of existing paths.
Learn the terminology. Before that deep dive, though, any beginner should have at least cursory knowledge of the terms listed below.
Initiation: The rites that put a budding witch on the path to making things official, by joining a coven after studying its practice, traditionally for a year and a day. The initiations that follow eventually allow the initiate the opportunity to become a high priest or high priestess; those with enough knowledge, experience, and dedication can become the leader of a Wiccan coven.
Coven: A gathering or community of initiated witches, usually led by a high priest and/or high priestess. If a coven is Wiccan, their meetings often involve sabbats, which are celebrations of the annual cycle of seasonal festivals known as the Wheel of the Year. (Non-sabbat meetings, such as the observation of a full moon, are known as esbats.)
Familiar: An animal-shaped spirit that serves as a witch’s spy, assistant, companion, and protector—the classic example of which is Sabrina’s black cat, Salem.
Altar: A surface that a Wiccan uses solely for activities such as casting spells, chanting, and worshipping the god and/or goddess. Typically, the altar is covered in a symbol-adorned cloth, which protects it from ash, liquids, and candle wax, as well as religious and ritual items like incense, wands, chalices of water, and cauldrons.
Pentacle: A magical tool such as an amulet or talisman that often appears on an altar, and is also often confused with a pentagram—a symbol popular in Wicca and, confusingly enough, the Church of Satan, which has pretty successfully taken ownership of its inverted version. (Inverted pentacles aren’t necessarily satanic, though Wiccans have recently largely strayed from using them to avoid that association.)
Baneful Magic: A form of magic used with dark, malevolent, and harmful intentions, commonly associated with Satanism. Spells have been used for a variety of purposes but those that are specifically used for negative and/or harmful purposes are known as jinxes, hexes, and curses. ( has a history rooted in racism as well)
Séance: A ceremony used to contact spirits, including the dead, usually with the help of a medium.
Grimoire: The umbrella term for a magic text, ranging from diaries to textbooks.
Book of Shadows: A Wiccan’s personal grimoire, used to store information they need, such as thoughts, recipes, and instructions for spells, rituals, and hexes.
Study up.
Even if you think you’re sure you want to proceed, it’s best to find out what exactly you’re signing up for. Before paging through your spell books, it’s wise to do your research—particularly since the modern-day idea of witchcraft has been pieced together by a mix of legends and existing translated historical documents, leading each of the pros to have a slightly different take on the subject.
Going back to the first step of knowing the risks.

'Tis The Season to be Spooky
So, seeing as Halloween is coming up, I had a fun little idea to properly celebrate the season beyond the usual quote.
That being: what would the Shantae cast's costumes be?
This is going to be a long one, so be ready!
Heroes
One note before we get into specifics - for the most part, the costumes here would be handled by Canonical Cosplay Connoisseur™ Rottytops! Who is not only 110% up for doing that, but by the time Shantae comes around to be like "hey you want to do our costumes?", Rottytops already has costumes for everyone. She's just that enthusiastic about the whole thing.
Shantae: A pirate captain! After all, she already has a bit of experience with the role - even if a certain actual pirate would disagree - so what could be better? While Rottytops handles most of the costume here, Shantae does contribute the bandana she swiped from Risky's wardrobe back during Pirate's Curse.
Sky: Vampire...but not the traditional kind! The idea Rottytops went for is a vampire that turns into a crow rather than a bat, and adjusted the classical vampire look to fit that concept. She has the classic suit and fangs, sure, but she also has a cape of black feathers instead of simple fabric, and has birdlike talons at the end of her gloves. Sky honestly loves the whole thing.
Bolo: A knight! Rottytops didn't have to do much work for this one, because Hypno Baron had a bunch of armor sets lying around his lair for aesthetic purposes - so, she just had to go to where her brothers moved them, grab one, do a bit of refitting via magic, and voila! For his part, Bolo appreciates it...but does think the armor is a bit heavy. Doesn't stop him from wearing it, though.
Rottytops: Werewolf! Sure, she COULD go as herself, considering she's already well-suited to the season, but Rottytops decided that would be boring, and so went with a classic werewolf. A werewolf in green, sure, but still classic. Plus, she figured she and Sky could do some fun shenanigans with their costumes, going off the traditional "vampire vs. werewolf" rivalry, and Sky is perfectly willing to play along and do some friendly banter.
Uncle Mimic: Mummy! He actually did his costume himself initially, and then Rottytops took one look at it and went "hang on I can do you one better" and presented him with a High Quality mummy costume. He was very flattered about the gift.
The other half-genies also happen to be visiting via Lobster Siren's teleportation powers, and as such, they get costumes as well, starting with...
Harmony: Scarecrow! Which was actually Harmony's idea, leaning into the idea of her role as a town guardian. Going out as a group is a bit new to her - in her town, she's usually helping run the Halloween celebration, not being an active participant in it - but she manages well enough.
Zapple: Frankenstein's Monster! Perhaps a bit predictable, given her electricity powers, but it's a classic for a reason.
Plink: Witch! Also a bit predictable, but she still enjoys the look, and really leans into her costume to set the proper mood.
Vera: Mermaid! A costume she actually handled herself; since she lives right next to a bunch of mermaids, she was able to get some tips and pointers to make sure the costume was accurate. It's so good, in fact, that Rottytops immediately approved upon seeing it.
Lobster Siren: Ghost! This is her first Halloween, period, since the sirens never really celebrated it in the depths beneath Siren Island. Rottytops offered to handle her costume, but Lobster Siren thought it'd be fun to do it herself, and ended up with...the classic bedsheet look, which doesn't quite fit what she was going for, but everyone else thought it was fine.
Villains
Risky Boots: If you were to ask Risky, she'd deny participating at all...but come Halloween proper, if you were to happen to spot her ship, you'd see a lively party between the Tinkerbats, with Risky as the host. She goes for a more casual wear during said party instead of a proper costume, but that's effectively the closest she'll get to it.
Ammo Baron: Wears a duo costume designed by Techno Baron, that being the Headless Horseman, with Techno Baron as the head! As for the horse? Well...
Armor Baron: Rather than make a robot horse or something similar, Techno Baron tricked Armor Baron into wearing a horse costume. He absolutely hates every second of it.
Twitch and Vinegar: Another duo costume, this time being a pair of mobsters! They actually join in the festivities at Scuttle Town with Ammo Baron's permission.
Barracuda Joe: Igor. He certainly feels like a madman's assistant, so he thinks it fits rather nicely.
Hypno Baron: Doesn't have a costume, but does set up half a dozen haunted mansions and spends the night running between them to scare the hell out of anyone who goes in!
Squid Baron: Shantae! His costume is more just a wig than anything, really, considering how his body doesn't lend itself to wearing anything, but that's good enough for him.
Empress Siren: Doesn't give a shit what holiday it is, and in fact actively tries to attack Scuttle Town once she realizes it's vulnerable...only for Risky to cut her off before she reaches shore and fight her off herself, under the pretense that she's "not letting her get a shot at the genie brat that easily." The ensuing scuffle ends up drawing the attention of the local heroes, letting them arrive just in time to see Risky win...and then promptly drag her into the festivities as thanks, whether she wants to be there or not.

it's the last race of the day, and most of the gathered crowds of the tutshill derby are more subdued now than they've ever been. it doesn't matter if they're exhausted from screaming their support for their chosen hippogriffs or from having over indulged in the perks of their tier ; the end of day fatigue feels all the same.
the circle remains one of the most packed areas of the entire course, even as guests from tier two and three begin to filter out of the main gate, content with what they've already seen. everyone who bought tickets for the one place where they could lounge beneath an unrelenting sun on checkered picnic blankets ( or ignore the race altogether in favor of the chaotic carnival, still loud and drawing attention ) is intent on enjoying their day to the max, which has seemingly lead to an unspoken refusal to call it quits too early.
raceday goers in delicate heels they're over wearing still stand next to their friends in full suits at the inner railing, though top hats have been abandoned and ties loosened and or discarded. the jockeys urge their hippogriffs into the starting stalls one by one, showing no signs of being affected by the crowd-wide weariness. one by one, the gates at their back close and they tighten their grip on their reins.
one hippogriff - a dapple gray with a brilliant streak of platinum white running through their mane - bucks wildly, inside their stall. their jockey tries to regain control of them, in vain, even as the witch on their far right raises her wand to the sky and begins to count down, her voice magically magnified. "3, 2, 1…" and the hundreds of wix still gathered and watching with ever eager eyes let out a cheer as an explosion of red sparks marks the start of the last race, and the hippogriffs begin to run.
the first group of hooded figures that apparate directly into the center of the carnival goes unnoticed, in the initial excitement. the second, third and fourth - popping into existence between food stalls and game stands and, in the case of one unlucky group, behind the porta potties - pass just as easily beneath the radar as wix exchange galleons for game credits and enjoy their last drink of the day while the final race unfolds. the fifth set of individuals who appear at the edge of the large expanse of green where parasols and picnics have been set up is noticed by a little girl who tugs on her fathers sleeve and is hushed when her rising voice interferes with the commentary.
no one is given the luxury of remaining clueless to what is happening for very long. one of the first to have materialized from thin air throws back his hood to reveal the silver mask of his kind to the immediate crowd, and as realization dawns on them that something is amiss and they begin to scatter in the death eaters paths, he raises his wand to the sky and shouts, "morsmordre."
TRIGGER WARNINGS for death, injury, drowning, assault, fire imagery.
true chaos erupts at the appearance of a writing snake and skull over the circle, and as the cheering turns to screams of terror, the dementors join the fray.
some, like CHARLIE & ISADORA ( her daughter held tightly in her arms ) have enough of their wits about them to disappear with a crack as the light begins to dim and the heavy chill sets in. few others, KEIRA in their number, are frozen with fear. more, still, panic. when the crowd begins to stampede, everyone pushing over each other to get away, there is no thought as to where they're running to beyond anywhere but there.
the first killing curse thrown lands true. an attendant at one of the bean bag throwing stalls slumps over the front as her most recent customer, MATTIE, screams and ducks out of the way, a protego cast just in time sparing her from the brilliant red of a stunner that comes, not from the death eaters now marching on the derby, but someone in the crowd whose aim goes wild. they manage to crawl beneath the counter of the stall, pulling all their limbs in close and trying their best to disappear.
ANDIE loses MARCO in the crowd as it converges and abandons any thought of immediate escape to fight against the wix moving in the opposite direction, trying desperately to find her son.
the searing orange of a careless bombarda hits the huge fish tank behind one of the carnival stalls and the sharp edges of uneven glass shards rain down on DUDLEY & DIANA. the latter of the two manages to throw up a physical barrier between herself and the onslaught of glass, rushing water and dozens of goldfish, though her ignorance of his muggle status means that DUDLEY is on his own, his only protection his own arms, thrown over his face.
"ex- expecto-... expecto-" PERCY mutters, his wand arm shaking something fierce as he tries to crawl backwards from the dementor that has already made a meal of what happy energy he had managed to conjure. the creature swoops low and feasts again, paling him all the more and causing him to slump, defeated, against the ground. it's only when it returns for the final kiss that ARTHUR'S weasel puts itself in between them, and the last thing that PERCY feels before he passes out is the warm relief of safety that really has no place here.
a death eater knocks RHEA clean off her feet with a lucky leg lock curse and she topples with a cry that turns swiftly to a scream as she's placed beneath crucio. she writhes and gasps for air and thinks this has to be the very worst pain of all, and she's never going to escape it, when HENRI hits her assailant with an incarcerous to the back. black robes conjured from thin air move like snakes and bind the death eaters arms at their side, and when they lose their balance and topple at RHEA'S side, HENRI gives them a heavy kick to the face for good measure. they don't, however, remember the counter spell for the leg lock curse; after a moment of frozen thought, they do the next best thing and drag RHEA by her arms into the imagined safety of an empty stall.
LAVENDER & PARVATI end up back to back ; neither knows how they managed it, but the two are forced to work in tandem, clumsily, against the death eaters that seem to come from all sides. when one of them manages to hit LAVENDER in the face with a well timed stupefy, the other targets the death eater with a hissed oscausi, causing their mouth to disappear as if it were never there in the first place.
high above, a dementor unseats one of the few jockeys who remains completely unaware as to the chaos unfolding down below. he hurtles towards the ground at a truly alarming speed, destined to collide at full force if it weren’t for the interference of LUNA, who seems to be the only one witnessing his fall. a cry of arresto momentum slows him down so that when he lands, it’s gently and onto untrampled grass. she gets only a moment to enjoy the wave of relief that rushes over her before she’s hit by friendly fire, in this case, a red stunner to the back.
ISMENE'S hands are bloodied by a fall that has her vaguely dazed and shaken beyond belief when someone grabs her roughly by the arm. she screams and almost hexes ARTURO directly in the face before she realizes that her assumed assailant is actually tugging her out of the crowd and into the gap between two stalls. no sooner are they under cover does he push a sobbing THESEUS into her arms, forced to break a vice like grip that she's had around his neck since the death eaters descended. "apparate her out," he demands, and ISMENE opens her mouth to protest, but nothing sensical comes out, "now, ismene. and if you find polyneices, tell him we need aurors." she forces herself to suck in a lungful of air and nods, disappearing with her niece before his eyes. he grips his wand a little tighter and then he throws himself back into the stampede.
JULIUS is hit directly in the chest by a powerful wingardium leviosa and sent flying through the plywood back wall of one of the stalls, landing in a mess of stuffed animals and assorted debris.
in tier two, pandemonium that is not unlike the scene unfolding in the circle, though entirely self made. the crowd here screams and runs and knocks each other over in much the same uncoordinated way, but what many don't seem to realize is that the death eaters are focusing their attack on the inner ticker holders. dementors may not know such distinction, but the first of them to break away from the mass that swoops overhead is banished with a patronus from MEERA.
AJAY is beneath a hook a duck stall with AUGUSTINE when a killing curse goes wide and hits the roof, causing an uncontained explosion of sickly green. the wooden support beams collapse in on them along with the flaming tarp, crushing them both beneath their weight, but luckily enough, ASTORIA & ANTIGONE see all and rush to their aid. a death eater takes aim for ASTORIA as they douse the flame, but ANTIGONE is quick on the draw with a petrificus totalus, and together, the two are able to levitate the debris and grab the two beneath.
confused by what's happening around them and acting on very little thought at all, TEMPEST directs their patronus towards a little boy lost in the crowd and about to get devoured in the worst of ways. the glowing falcon swoops low and drives away the threat against MARCO, and ANDIE grabs for him without thanks to spare, twisting on the spot and getting them both out of there post haste.
panicked wix push and shove their way towards perceived safety, not caring who they stamp on in their desperate bid to get away. ADORA is not the only one to trip over abandoned belongings and fall painfully to the ground, nor are they the only wix unable to find their footing again in the mayhem. half crawling, half pushing upwards with all their might, a knee collides with their forehead, dazing them on impact. they lose what little height they've gained as screaming wix trample over them, throwing their arms over their head and curling their knees up to their chest in an effort to minimize the amount of their body able to be reached.
GINNY attempts to counter a barrage of curses being thrown her way by one overzealous death eater with a bat bogey hex that goes wide and hits a stuffed bear instead when her arm is jostled. she’s hard pressed to do much more than deflect curse after curse when every attempt she makes at firing back or disarming them is skillfully dodged or fails to hit the intended target thanks to the panicked crowd, so naturally, she does the only thing she can do when she’s backed into a food cart. briefly using it as cover ( the brilliant red of crucio sailing over her head as she ducks behind it, the wicked yellow of a ribboning curse slashing across her arm when she reaches up to take hold of the handles ), she unlocks the wheel with near malicious intent and runs them down with it before they have a chance to puzzle her next move.
the death eaters are the least of JUSTIN'S problem when one of the dementors breaks from the fold and targets him directly, pulling any of the happiness he had felt over the course of the day from him with gaping maw. OTTO attempts to hit it with a stupefy to little success, and another dementor joins the group, choosing to latch onto OTTO. the two are forced to their knees by the weight of their despair, but just when hope seems lost, the bright blue of an otter commanded by HERMIONE - her other hand held over a gash across her upper arm - sends it packing, right away. "go," she tells them both, and neither thinks twice about gripping the others hand and apparating out.
in tier three, ANTON'S vips are pushed all the way up to the wall of windows, watching the scene below unfold with abject horror. the aurors amongst them - some working security that day and others invited personally by the minister - apparate out one by one and into the crowd while one lone wix, a member of the raceday organization board, shouts for everyone to remain calm.
OLIVER, LAVINIA and KEIRA ( finally unfrozen ) are three of the many who decide to take their chances out on the course, ducking beneath the barrier and running full pelt across the stretch of sand, hoping to find safety in the grandstand. the security charged with ensuring that this didn't happen over the course of the day have abandoned their posts to try and gain control over the situation, so there's nothing to stop them slipping through. when OLIVER'S ankle twists, the two strangers exchange a wide eyed look and weigh their options before they turn on their heel and come back to him, using their combined strength to half carry, half drag him the rest of the way. when a dementor bores down upon them at the final leg, it's physically beaten back by a jockey atop a dappled gray hippogriff who chooses not to head to safety.
a death eater roughly the size and shape of AMYCUS has WREN'S hair knotted in one hand and SEAMUS held under crucio by the wand in his other. as WREN struggles against his grip and kicks at him, again - which just so happens to be the very move that got them into this mess - he grits his teeth behind his mask and pushes their head under the water of one of the surviving dunk tanks.
GRACIE ( limping, now, and sporting a nasty cut over her lip ) finally locates them after a desperate search and tries to hit the death eater with a stunner, but AMYCUS is too fast ; he drops the crucio on SEAMUS, who's left harmless and gasping for air, firing a killing curse at the blonde that she only narrowly dodges. the battle is unfair, with GRACIE using every schoolyard hex and auror standard curse in the book that comes to mind in quick succession while AMYCUS deflects and fires back with vicious intent, her sisters head still held under water. desperate and aware of how little time she truly has, she throws a final petrificus totalus at him and is amazed when his grip slackens and he falls to the floor ; it's only when he lies stunned and prone that GRACIE sees her father, MATTIAS, stood behind him, wand still raised. the two rush as one to grab WREN and get out of the heart of the attack.
at the exact center of the circle is the ferris wheel, a huge, wooden contraption with psychedelic string lights that are still pulsing amidst the chaos and twenty passenger cars in varying, sickly fluorescent colors. it's already been hit by a number of wayward spells by the time a small group of death eaters break free from the majority and take aim. the combination of the spells they shout ( confringo, screams one, while bombarda maxima is shouted by a coordinated duo ) causes immediate and catastrophic damage to its structural integrity, and that's before they pull back their arms and go at it a second time, and then a third, and then as many as they need to take huge chunks from the supporting stands and inner beams. one of the passenger cars breaks free and crashes into a stall, drawing a terrified scream from MATTIE, still hidden beneath its counter. more, still, hang loose by little more than a thread.
the whole thing sways, dangerously, in the cool summer breeze.
one of the death eaters one final bombarda.
and then, with the sound of snapping wires and one deafening creak, what's left comes down in one.
PHOEBE, huddled on the floor of a nearby food truck and desperately trying to control shaking fingers enough to scribble her firsthand experience on the back of a discarded receipt, feels the crash as it reverberates through her shelter and loses her stubby pencil as she tries to find steady purchase. ORIANA does their best to leap out of the way of one of the supportive stands. they manage to clear its path but land on their arm with a sickening crunch. NIKO ( having made every effort to stay out of the path of death eaters who proved themselves content with throwing curses in his direction in the moments after they apparated in ) puts himself into its path without meaning to and is engulfed by dust & assorted rubble from the collapsing structure. MOLLY, having gotten separated from her husband in the initial stampede and having taken shelter in one of the other empty stalls, doesn't have a hope of doing anything to stop these events unfolding as they do. the roof of the stall caves in with the weight of ferris wheel debris, and splintered wood becomes a dangerous weapon all of its own.
the nearest death eaters don't even wait for the dust to settle before they let out a triumphant cheer, one of them even going so far as to send a celebratory incendio towards the most flammable pile of rubble and watching as it goes up in flames. this show of victory is their mistake, and the mass arrival of the ministry's elite - with none other than MINISTER KARKAROFF at their forefront - couldn't come a moment too soon.
ANTON is a terrifying sight in his own right, but there is something doubly sinister about the addition of his patronus - a sleek vulture that he conjures without ever seeming to utter a word and commands high into the sky, instructing it to swoop and soar and dive at the dementors still gathered overhead. with the bird of prey now in their midst, they can't seem to work out what to do, and amazingly, they begin to scatter even before the minister's patronus is joined by ones conjured by the aurors. he turns his focus to the three ringleaders, the three individuals responsible for the fall of the ferris wheel; he parries their assorted curses with little effort and cuts them down, one by one, with near clinical precision.
the AURORS that apparate in begin to turn the tide on the death eaters immediately. across the circle, masked figures begin to disapparate in terror, but the ones that don’t are swiftly apprehended with spells designed to take them in alive, and take them in quietly. among them, TONKS & KINGSLEY are a well oiled machine that needs little introduction and uses their disarray against them; while one takes careful aim and hits any death eater they come across, the other is forever watching their back. ARTURO has never been happier to see POLYNEICES, who gets the death eater responsible for taking him down with a leg binding curse with the full body variety and casts the counter charm with practiced skill, helping him to his feet with a grim, “better late than never, right?”
and by merlin, it is. it truly is. the expulsion of the dementors lifts the fog of fear that had fallen over the circle at large, and the realization that the death eaters are on the ropes and scattering in a panic of their own renews the fight of those still standing. lead by the minister and alongside the aurors, the gathered crowd pushes them back. and even after everything they’ve faced, there still manages to be a bleak sense of triumph when the snake & skull is banished from the sky.
ROUNDUP OF DAMAGES, INJURIES & FATALITIES :
most of the food trucks, carnival stalls and picnic set ups are entirely destroyed ; anyone who didn’t have the forethought to grab their things when they were apparating or running will likely find them crushed underfoot or burned beyond recognition, as many of the death eaters that moved through the circle set fires as they went ( which aurors struggle to get control of, in the immediate aftermath ). a few wayward spells took chunks out of the wall and shattered windows of the distant ministers box building, and a few more flew into the grandstand crowd and added to the panic, but the other areas of the tutshill derby racecourse are nothing compared to the devastation on the inner circle.
the death toll climbs heavily throughout the evening until the aurors announce the final total as twenty four, which grows to twenty seven as a small number of raceday goers succumb to their injuries over the course of the next few days. only a handful of these victims were actually killed by the painless killing curse.

ginny weasley suffered some minor injury in one vicious dual but is more badly shaken than anything else.

mattie fortescue is seriously shaken up by their ordeal and will need to spend a night in st mungo’s where healers can administer copious amounts of calming draught.
molly weasley suffered serious and life threatening injury in the collapse of the ferris wheel, in part impaled by a splintered beam from the stall she took cover in. her life hangd in the balance at st mungo’s.
niko karkaroff suffered serious injury in the collapse of the ferris wheel and had to be dug out of the rubble; he was taken to st mungo’s from the scene before he regained consciousness.
oliver wood has sprained his ankle in the chaos, but should be able to have it tended to without having to visit st mungo’s.
oriana trelawney broke their arm when the ferris wheel came down and should spend at least the night in st mungo’s, where qualified healers can administer copious amounts of skele-gro before they head home.

this marks the end of our tutshill derby event ! no new event based starters should be posted from here on out, but you can feel free to continue any derby threads you began over the last two weeks and are now welcome to transition into the aftermath, if you'd so prefer ! as mentioned a few times over the last few days, our next event will be kicking off in one weeks time but is not actually an event at all - i can confirm that it'll be isolated to the writing discord, which will give you plenty of time to enjoy the chaos this plot drop has provided on dash !

CHARACTER ROLES
First and foremost, I think it’s important to share the roles of every character. (Note that this was originally-and still-written to be meloghia centric, though the larger story does not heavily involve them..)
GHIACCIO
A prince. He lives in the southern woods fully intending to be alone. He is hiding there from his parents, since he has difficulties following the lifestyle he is supposed to and has never met someone he doesn’t get into a conflict with. He has a bad reputation among his territory and among people in general- he is taken as a joke, or as someone people’d say “yikes” about on the street. But don’t get mixed up- He loves his solitude and has become self sufficient, not wanting anyone to get in his way. His goal is to stay away from people and live a free life.
MELONE
Another prince. Manipulative asshole. He is currently reported missing in his own territory, as he was cursed and temporarily turned into a frog by southern woods witch Risotto Nero. This was a punishment for “disrupting the peace of the forest” (he went around and slept with the wrong people and created relationship drama.)
Melone was engaged as a prince but ran off with no intent of getting married, especially in an arranged marriage. He is different to Ghiaccio, though. He is more than competent in all his princely duties, even being considered talented by the kingdom. Even so he often gets into trouble or disobeys his parents, which he is not ashamed of. He has a very good reputation for his looks and performance, even with his known shady behavior (things like his affairs and his drug use.) He has little concern for other people. His goal is to have fun and live a free life.
FORMAGGIO
Formaggio is a hunter in the southern woods. He was born to a human family, but for reasons he can’t remember lives in a cabin alone. He is uncivilized, not afraid to eat raw meat or relieve himself when he feels. He is not ashamed and has no intention to change how he lives. His goals are unknown. He is not just a dumb man he is feral and will run on all fours he is seriously strange
ILLUSO
Illuso is a frog that Melone befriended while under his curse. He is, strangely, much smarter and decent than the other frogs. He was perfectly capable of keeping up with Melone’s human self. Once Melone was transformed back, he took Illuso with him. Illuso is always disappearing and reappearing out of nowhere, and often eavesdrops. His goal is to learn.
PROSCIUTTO
Prosciutto is an elf, and a worker at “The House of Broken Hearts.” He thinks the name is corny, but Risotto Nero, the owner, does not. Prosciutto simply works there and follows Risotto’s orders. He wants to support him in any way he can, and does so by taking orders and giving customers nasty looks. His goals are unknown.
PESCI
Pesci lives at The House under the care of Prosciutto. He is a half human half bird creature brought to life by Risotto. One rainy night, there was a shriveled bird on their doorstep. Risotto cast a spell on it to make it into something Prosciutto could take care of (rather than working for him^1) Now, he lives there with Prosciutto and has developed a passion for piano. He entertains the guests. He hopes to become an even stronger pianist, but also hopes to have a family.
RISOTTO NERO
Risotto is the only creature of his kind. He has gray skin, white hair, red eyes and ears that point out. He is a witch, and is extremely talented with magic. He runs a bar, which also offers certain magic services. In the forest community it’s known that you go there when you are not at peace, or when you find yourself “broken hearted.” Then he will perform magic based on your situation-and while this magic may not make sense initially, it always achieves it’s goal in the end. His goals are unknown.
SORBET AND GELATO
Sorbet and Gelato are two kooks in the woods. They are proficient fortune tellers, and if brought materials and a fee can give you your future or some advice. They have a history with Risotto. Their goals are only to live together and be crazy. And to make money.

Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall
It is the year 1814 and life for a young lady of good breeding has many difficulties. There are balls to attend, fashions to follow, marriages to consider and, of course, the tiny complication of existing in a world swarming with fairy spirits, interfering deities, and actual straight-up sorcerers. Miss Maelys Mitchelmore finds her entry into high society hindered by an irritating curse. It begins innocuously enough with her dress slowly unmaking itself over the course of an evening at a high-profile ball, a scandal she narrowly manages to escape.
However, as the curse progresses to more fatal proportions, Miss Mitchelmore must seek out aid, even if it means mixing with undesirable company. And there are few less desirable than Lady Georgianna Landrake—a brooding, alluring young woman sardonically nicknamed “the Duke of Annadale”—who may or may not have murdered her own father and brothers to inherit their fortune. If one is to believe the gossip, she might be some kind of malign enchantress. Then again, a malign enchantress might be exactly what Miss Mitchelmore needs.
With the Duke’s help, Miss Mitchelmore delves into a world of angry gods and vindictive magic, keen to unmask the perpetrator of these otherworldly attacks. But Miss Mitchelmore’s reputation is not the only thing at risk in spending time with her new ally. For the rumoured witch has her own secrets that may prove dangerous to Miss Mitchelmore’s heart—not to mention her life. -Storygraph
Not afraid to be shameless and admit that the sole reason I picked up this book was because Robin Goodfellow was the narrator. I have a chaotic brand to maintain and having a vested interest in troublemakers is definitely going to make me a bit biased. Of course, this isn't Robin's story, they're not in the business of telling us their own adventures, but rather others'. There are moments where they influence the story, but they're never the main focus. Instead that goes to Miss Maelys Mitchelmore and Lady Georgianna Landrake, who, I'm sorry to admit, aren't exactly interesting enough to completely distract me from wanting more of the trickster's presence.
The first half had enough going for it, a mysterious curse, sapphic temptations, and a cast of characters that were endearing. Miss. Bickle's eccentricities were a constant delight and Mr. Caesar's role as the straight man made for a well balanced core cast. Unfortunately, once the main conflict wrapped up about halfway through, I wondered what could possibly fill up the remaining page length. Hall devotes the rest of the story to Mitchelmore and Landrake's budding relationship, something I think would have been better developed through the initial conflict, and confusingly adds another curse into the mix. It made the first one seem somewhat superfluous, especially since it never really adds anything to the story once that plot point wraps up.
On a more positive note, I enjoyed the worldbuilding of the story, where gods/goddesses, faeries, and all manner of supernatural beings are known to this Regency society and play a moderately active role in it. It made a nice change of pace to see them regarded as accepted elements of the world, though still posing a great deal of danger. If Hall continues with this series, whether it will follow another character Robin finds suitable to fit into a story, I would love to see it take place in another part of the world with different supernatural creatures and how they incorporate themselves into their environments.
The romance aspect didn't really do much for me. I thought the chemistry was lacking, that there was more of a sensual focus on their relationship, which is fine given the genre, but is entirely lost on me. Georgianna never really broke out of the "broody lady with a dangerous, mysterious past" trope, though Miss Mitchelmore was capable of breaking out of the "naive youth" mold, which made her characterization less tedious. Love the fact that we're seeing the rise of more LGBTQ romances set in the Regency era, a time period I have a bit of fondness for, even if I'm not able to relate to all of them. This will definitely tickle the fancy of anyone looking for one with a historical and fantastical slant to it.

Just got caught up on owl house and for spoiler reasons I'm going to talk about my thoughts under the cut
I just love how they show the power of the collector. Just casually splating the seemingly unbeatable Bellos, a guy we have only seen inconvenienced but never truly beaten, with the most casual tag. Or breaking the draining spell, not with some counter spell or disrupting the spell itself but instead by removing a requirement for it to work, by casually moving the entire moon with a simple slide of his finger. Most of the videos talking about him refer to him as being a god with the mentality of a child and... yeah.
Also I totally called King's sigil being a tool against the collector, though admittedly I thought it was more a warding thing as apposed to simply obscuring.
Also the golden guard grave pit. Ok. that's alot of bodies
Also it is honestly impressive that this show was even made given what we know of Disney's standards and what Hirsh had to fight for in gravity falls. "We don't want any thing even close to demonic" the owl house is set in the demon realm where some of the population is literally called demons the rest are witches. "Can't let there be to much gay" Amity and Luz having crushes on each other was established in season 1 and started dating in season 2. "Even implying kissing is forbidden" these two girlfriends give each other kisses all the time. Just, it is so good to see we've progressed so much, enough to make Disney realize deny it outright would be less profitable at least (sorry for drawing the optimistic sentence into cynicism at the end)
Also no offense to Gus, but he put King, a being with a clear powerful ability and acted like he couldn't help in the fight. Gus, how much impact did your illusions play in bring down Bellos? Meanwhile the show acted like King only could contribute by getting the Collector. He's been shown to be able to do some serious damage when he needs to when using his power. But I guess we needed to get the Collector in play somehow and you need Titan blood to do it(I totally thought his blood was going to play into getting a door open, I admit I was wrong on that). I just wish they stopped acting like King was totally helpless.
Maybe instead King helps in the initial fight but nothing they do even phases Bellos for long(like in the original). Then King gets swatted away during the fight and lands next to Kikimora and when Kikimora makes her claim, and King sees that they can't really even beat Bellos anyway, atleast not in time, it then plays out like it did in the original only instead of King helping the only way he was allowed, team Hexside is buying him time to go down and deal with the Collector.
Ok theory time. We got 3 longer episodes coming before the end(remember how I mentioned Disney realizing that stuff could be profitable? There's a few asterisks) so nothing too too ambitious.
Edda has been getting death flags the whole series (she was literally decapitated in the first episode). But she's also been avoiding actually succumbing to them this whole time. So she may or may not die, however if she dies it will probably be as an act of sacrifice during the finale protecting her family(for simplicity Raine is included in family) and if she lives she still will be dealing with the owl curse because it would be pretty cheap to cure their chronic illness allegory(they arguably get close with harpy Edda but I give harpy Edda a pass because rule of cool).
King survives. The owl house is constantly having characters trying to murder straight up children. But as loose as Disney has been with its previous standards, Actually killing children(as apposed to implied) is still off the table and king is a child. Plus I can already see the epilogue scene where king has hit a growth spurt and is taller than the other characters of the main caste(I picture an appearance/physique not to different from "dad trapper"). Also maybe my King being used for a new door theory might be true? He also will obviously be central to retraping the Collector
Lilith I can see trying to sacrifice herself for Edda (she cursed her sister, I don't know if she still carries some guilt about that around not to mention everything else up to the petrification ceremony) though whether she succeeds or has a "you aren't allowed to sacrifice yourself for me" moment *shrug*
Sorry to cut this short but it's late I got to get up early tomorrow (ugh) so I should get off now
