Could you do a seperate piers and raihan x reader but enemies to lovers type of headcanons or just being enemies with them in general? Nothing too explicit?

Sure thing. Sorry for the long wait. I wrote Raihan where the reader uses a Pokémon type that’s weak against his teams types. For Piers I wrote where the reader uses a Pokémon type that’s strong against his teams types.

Enemies to Lovers

Raihan

People could see that you and Raihan were enemies because he would constantly beat your team in every fight

Your friends and family suggested switching the type of Pokémon you use, but you wanted to prove that Fire Pokémon were better than Dragon Pokémon

Your partner Pokémon is Cinderace. Your team includes Scovillain, Blaziken, Pyroar, Arcanine, and Ninetales

You love your team and you don’t want to give up on them and you know that they are strong

You interned for Kabu to learn more from the best of the best and you ended up working for him after your internship ended

Kabu said that you had a lot of potential

Kabu and Raihan were talking in the Motostoke gym and you tried to not be seen by either of them

Kabu saw you and called you over and you obliged because he is your boss

He said that he was telling Raihan that he planned on passing the Fire gym to you when he officially retires

Raihan said that he is shocked with Kabu’s decision because your team can be easily defeated

Kabu quickly reminded Raihan that this gym is one of the first three gyms that challengers face and that the gyms were supposed easier compared to his gym

Before Kabu left you and Raihan he said that you were the best Fire Pokémon trainer he has ever interned and worked with and that Raihan should at least show you some respect

It was three years after that conversation that Kabu retired and you took over the gym

Everyone else was welcoming and excited that you were finally the Motostoke gym leader and they had two cakes for you and Kabu since you both combined the two parties together

One cake said “Welcome to Gym Leader Family, Y/N” the other said “Have a Fantastic Retirement, Kabu”

Raihan gave Kabu his retirement gift and everyone held their breath when he approached you

He said “Congratulations on finally achieving your dream. I hope that you can finally prove that Fire Pokémon are stronger and better than Dragon Pokémon.” and he gave you his gift

Raihans gift was a plushie of Reshiram the legendary Pokémon that has the typing of Dragon and Fire

But there was a second plushie in the bag and it was a plushie of Turtonator which has the typing of Fire and Dragon

Before the party ended Raihan said “I gave you those two plushies because they prove that a Pokémon can be a stronger Fire type with a Dragon sub type or a stronger Dragon type with a Fire sub type.”

After he said that he kissed your cheek and left

Kabu and Melony saw kiss and they will not let you live that down

Piers

You knew you and Piers were destined to be enemies ever since you two were kids

You loved Flying Pokémon and your team just happened to have typings that are strong against his team

You hated it because you wanted to be friends with Piers, but he has made it clear that he hates you

Your partner Pokémon is Butterfree. The rest of your team includes Togekiss, Gliscor, Hawlucha, Flamigo, and Beautifly.

Your gym ended up replacing Opals gym, but you kept the same concept of how challengers battle at your gym as Opals gym. You wanted to keep it the same so that Opal can still have her legacy. So the gym now has pink and pastel blue to incorporate Flying and Fairy Pokémon.

Piers refused to visit your gym because he says the colors give him migraines

When Victor, Gloria, Bede, and Marnie were doing their gym challenges and Marnie happened to beat your gym in one go by luck. Victor, Gloria, and Bede completed your gym in two tries.

When word of Marnie completing your gym in one try got back to Piers he stormed into your office asking if you went easy on her

You told him that you didn’t go easy on Marnie and that she was a strong opponent and that he should believe in her more

After you said that he smashed his lips against yours and after he pulls away he tells you that you shouldn’t tell him how to feel

Let’s just say that after that interaction you and Piers relationship started to become more lovely

Blide! Bede X Reader

Triple H Love story

For the couple of fellow trainers who can't remember who bede is: it's this guy hier

Now for some Background: Me and a friend were just Casually writing an RP (Role play) on WhatsApp wen she decided to completey blind Bede. Thx Maria! I hate you to 🥺😭😂

Let's start at the start shall we?:

How you meet:

You were Running through the Cole mine wen you meet him for the first time. He was struggling with finding his way after Victor beat his Hatenna in battle. After all his Pokemon see for him.

Just because he can't see, it doesn't mean he doesn't hears you. I fact his ears are so good that he heard you from the entrance of the mine already. Looking you way, your eyes meet. His white eyes scared you for a second, but you quickly realised his setuaion. So you grabt his arm putting it on you shoulder and got him out of there. You got him through the rest of route 4 to Turffield, into the Pokémon Center.

He thank you and you talk until his Pokémon we're back at full health. Wen you wanted to go he asked you if you would accompany him on his journey. So you did.

How he started catching feelings:

You and Bede were resting in Circhester wen you asked him if he wanted to go to the hot springs. So you both did. In the hot spring you both rested and played with you Pokémon. Even though Bede couldn't see you, his Pokémon did so for him. So wen you started brushing Bede's Hatterene, it send a message to Bade of what you are doing. His Heart melted at the thought of you doing this to his hair. And at that moment he realised: fuck. I have feelings for them! Now my acting makes sense!

How he confessed:

It was after You finally beat Victor AND Leon in the Champions League. He meet you outside in his Gym- Leader clothes, Smileing at you. You hug'd him and he patted you head. After a while he let you go: "congratulations on winning the League." He putt an envelope in you hand: "only open it after we go separate ways okey?" You ensured him that you won't opent it I'll then. After you hade a little party he got back to his Gym.

It was 2 week after this meeting wen you found the envelope in you Pocket. You opened it and Bede Beautifully handwritten caught your eye.

/Please meet me at my Gym once you have some time. I have something to tell you. But I would prefer it in private. Bede/

And so you did. You travelled to Ballonlea and entered the gym. The gym-guy escorted you to Bede. He was sitting in one of his couches and playing with his Hatterene. You called out his name, hugging him. You talked about nonsense for a while. And then he said it: "Y/N. I think I like you. You are so kind and gentle. You handel you Pokemon so well and you are friendly to everyone. I noticed that I fell for you back in Circhester wenn we we're in the hot springs. I-"

You caught him of by pressing you lipps against his. He flinched because he hadn't he this coming. But he immediately Kiss't you back, cussing at his blindness, and pulling you on the lap. The Camp of Galar and the last gym- leader of the region cuddeling on the Couch the the fairy type gym.

Here are my notes from the next page of this booklet! It contains brief descriptions of SWSH characters who placed 6th-10th in a reader popularity poll, a summary paragraph of the types of characters participants voted for, and a small amount of participant demographic information. Thank you for reading if you do!

DISCLAIMER: I’m not a professional translator and my Japanese is honestly not that good (I’m like N3-ish I guess, never took the JLPT tbh). I only lived in Japan for around 2 years before moving back to the US. I’m definitely going to be missing a lot of nuance in my translations & there’s a good chance I may translate some things incorrectly. I’ll do my best tho. ^^;

(TN: The word ギャップ/gap (aka gap moe) comes up a lot on this page. If you're not familiar with this term, it’s like the concept of a character being endearing because they have two drastically and often surprisingly different sides to themselves. The word “gap” is used explicitly on the previous page for Raihan (who has both an easygoing and fierce side), and on this page for Marnie (who has both a cool and cute side). In concept it can arguably also apply to Piers (who has both a scary and brotherly side) and Kabu (who has both a serious and playful side). I generally translate “gap” as “contrast” or “contrasting personality” here because it was the closest thing I could think of lmao)

6th place: Protagonist (approval rating: 12.8%)

The player’s self-insert—a young trainer who undergoes the gym challenge and travels all around Galar. There are a variety of stylish possibilities in Gen 8, so the protagonist can show off the player’s individuality as clearly as possible.

7th place: Marnie (approval rating: 11.6%)

She’s one of the protagonist’s rivals and fervently supported by Team Yell. Many people submitted comments along the lines of “She’s got a cool demeanor, but I love the contrast she shows when she occasionally expresses herself in her face and way of talking.”

8th place: Sonia (approval rating 10.1%)

She supports the protagonist in various ways when they go on their journey. She was formerly a gym challenger, but she’s since retired from battling and is now on her way to being a researcher. After that, she’s going to be the successor to her grandmother as Pokémon professor.

9th place: Bede (approval rating: 10.0%)

He’s introduced as a rival who holds a lot of power and pride, yet is also somewhat embittered. He has a complete change of heart and shows tremendous growth by the story’s end.

10th place: Avery (approval rating: 9.8%)

A psychic type user that the player encounters on the Isle of Armor in Pokémon Shield. He produces a great number of peculiar and perplexing lines of dialogue, yet he also harbors a complicated past. He has a hardworking side to himself.

Questionnaire Results Summary

When looking at the comments collected in the poll, words such as “personality contrast” and “growth” were often given as reasons for why participants chose a particular character. Characters who you can’t fully understand from your first encounter with them, characters who undergo development over the course of the story, or even characters who yield* to those who have finished their growth… When you think about it, it’s not just the poll results—Pokemon Sword and Shield itself has an extremely large number of characters with notable personality contrast and growth. Diversity** and multi-generationality also seem to be the important key words for the story of Pokemon Sword and Shield.

(*TN: The word here is 譲る・ゆずる; my dictionary says it means “to turn over, to hand over, to yield, to surrender”… tbh I’m not really familiar with this word or what it means in this context. This was just a really weird sentence for me grammatically too so idk it might be totally wrong lmao;;)

(**TN: The word here is 多様性・たようせい. I think it can have a similar connotation to the word “diversity” in English regarding things like social inclusion (race, LGBT+, etc) judging from the wiki page for the word, but I’m not sure how strong of a connotation it is.)

Additionally, participant comments (such as reasons for why participants voted for their favorite characters) can be found on p. 7, p. 9, and p. 12, as well as in this month’s issue of Nintendo Dream on p. 10-11.

(TN: Unfortunately, I think I got rid of the main Nintendo Dream magazine when I moved back to America… It was the March 2021 issue for anyone interested.)

The glitter incident – Bede x reader

Going to the mall during the holiday season had always been something Bede despised. There was just something about the joyful Christmas songs that blared out of every speaker and the annoyingly happy people everywhere that made him angry, even though he never understood why. Maybe it was because he had spent the holidays on his own for most of his life. Maybe, deep down, a part of him had envied them for their families, their friends… and their happiness.

But even now, several years later, he still found himself rolling his eyes at the fairy lights everywhere and the tacky Christmas decorations that adorned every shop window, despite not having any reason to loathe the festive atmosphere. He didn’t have to spend the holidays alone anymore. This year, he would have you by his side.

He darted a quick glance at you, a barely noticeable smile flashing over his face as he noticed your shining eyes while you looked around the mall. Somehow, you reminded him of himself when he saw the Christmas lights for the first time when he was younger but he quickly shoved the thought aside. Today, he didn’t want to think about his childhood, at least not while he was here with you. He didn’t want to spoil the mood, no matter how much he hated being in overcrowded places. But you had asked him to accompany you while you bought the last few presents, and while he would have preferred to stay at home he really couldn’t say No to you – not when you pouted at him and fluttered your eyelashes.

“These lights are so pretty, aren’t they?” you asked and linked arms with him. Bede let his eyes wander, taking in the festively decorated mall and the lights that were arranged in various shapes and sizes. There were some that formed a crescent moon and stars while others were shaped like Christmas trees and snowflakes. Even he couldn’t deny that it looked beautiful. “Yeah.”

“Thank you for coming here with me,” you said, and Bede shrugged. “No big deal.”

You gave him a soft smile. “But thank you anyway.”

When he didn’t reply you dragged him over to a booth that sold Christmas decorations and other little trinkets like candle holders that were dusted with glitter and cookie boxes with Christmas motifs. As you started to inspect one of the candle holders, he raised his eyebrows. “Really, (Y/N)?”

“What?” you asked. “I want to decorate my apartment and I don’t have any Christmas decorations. I’m allowed to buy something.”

“At least pick something that isn’t as tacky as this thing.”

You playfully slapped across his chest. “You don’t like glitter, do you?”

“I hate glitter,” he corrected you but quickly realized that you weren’t listening to him at all. Instead, you continued to pick out random decorations and handed them to the booth’s employee who carefully wrapped them in brown paper to protect them from shattering. You also bought a pouch of glitter, a mischievous smile on your face.

Bede frowned. “Do I want to know what you’re planning to do with this?”

In a split second, you had opened the pouch and threw it at him. For a moment, neither of you moved or said anything.

Then, Bede’s eyes widened in shock. “You did not just throw that at me!” he exclaimed, staring down at his jacket that was completely covered in golden glitter. “I swear, (Y/N), you will pay for that. You won’t see it coming but when it happens you will know exactly what it’s for.”

“Shut up and look at the mistletoe,” you said, already puckering your lips while you pointed upwards. Bede glanced up. There was indeed a mistletoe, hanging right above you in an archway, and your boyfriend rolled his eyes but you knew him well enough to notice that he tried his best to stifle a laugh. You winked at him. “Come on, don’t be shy,” you teased him. “Kiss me.”

“You threw a ton of glitter at me! I’m not going to reward you for that.”

When you leaned in to kiss him, Bede turned his head away, now barely able to hold back his laughter. You pouted. “It’s tradition, Bede! And it brings good luck to lovers… well, at least that’s what my grandmother always told me.”

Finally, Bede burst out into laughter. “Oh well, in that case,” he said and pecked your lips, “after throwing glitter at me you definitely need all the luck you can get.”

Gym dates are a common thing with you two, but not his own. He prefers going to other gym leaders' matches and yelling as loud as he can to cheer, your volume always matching his own.

You two never have genuine arguments, even if you tried to, it would only be filled with jokes and end with, "Do you wanna go get something to eat?"

If you're a trainer, he helps train your Pokemon.

Or attempts to give you some he trained himself.

Polar opposites, Piers is a rather blunt person and thinks everything he does through.

You were most likely the person who taught him to loosen up, how to be kinder and more patient with people.

Compared to Piers, you can be really spontaneous but there's never a time he doesn't go along.

"You.. Wanna go to the Lake of Outrage? With absolutely no Pokemon? You're sure?"

Piers more than likely brings his Pokemon secretly, to make sure you're protected while you try to befriend some of the Pokemon.

"Kitty- Careful, that Golurk is comin' our way." "I'm sure it doesn't mean harm-"

An exact conversation you two had before Golurk attempted to attack you, only for Piers to have to battle it.

There were no more dates with "No Pokemon" to Lake of Outrage after that.

He's really overprotective while you two are in Spikemuth together, he thinks you might get scammed or worse.

"Don't go anywhere alone, okay? If you lose me, find a Team Yell member. I'll come get ya afterwards."

"And kitty, I know its tempting to go to the shady stands with bright pretty lights and Mr.Mime's dancing but don't-" "But they really do look pretty-" "Don't."

Bede (Sfw)

Unlike his attitude towards most people, his patience never falters with you.

So if you're trying to learn something new and don't get it, he helps.

"No, like this- let me show you how. And don't worry too much about this. After this, we can go out shopping, dearest."

Bede usually shops for you, your wardrobe is mostly what he picks out. When it comes to fashion and trends, he knows exactly what to wear.

"You'll look great in this, darling. Try it on for me, please."

He'll 'accidentally' match outfits with you. Often.

"I completely forgot I chose those colors for your outfit today, forgive me. But oh, how good together we'll look. Won't we?"

When he takes you to meet Opal, she immediately loves you.

"Finally you come around here. Bede has said so much about you- all nice things of course- but never do you make an appearance in my gym. Has Bede kept you from me? Why, we are selfish with the things we love most, aren't we?" "Ms. Opal!"

He's polite and well mannered, but he doesn't hesitate when it comes to your wellbeing, Bede is extremely defensive.

"Leave him alone. Do you really not have anything better to do with your life? Unless you'd like to see what my Hatterene can really do."

The Harmacist Gym Leader

Raihan x Fem! S/O Reader

When Raihan heard that Kabu was retiring from being a gym he was sad but supported his friend’s decision

He heard that a new gym leader was already chosen by Kabu himself and said that it was friend of his who he constantly trained with on his days off

So naturally Raihan go curious and headed to Motostoke to check out the new gym leader. He assumed the Milo and Nessa already introduced themselves to the newbie

He got there and was to see that the gym leader was Y/N L/N

He had heard about you through Kabu, but assumed you were from a different region

Which was correct since you moved to Galar from Kanto region based on the fact he saw a Pokémon he didn’t recognize

He introduced himself to you trying to be confident, but that didn’t work out since you just rolled your eyes

“I’ve heard all about you, Raihan.” You said coldly, but he could feel the poison coming out of your mouth (not literally)

“Oh. I’m guessing Kabu told you about all of the Galar gym leaders?” He asked a little scared of you

“Oh yeah. I know that you are very overly competitive and that you don’t go easy on anyone. Especially Leon.”

He nods “Uh. Yeah. I kinda eased up on him after The Darkest Day happened. So, what kind of gym will you be running? Still fire types?”

“Poison.”

“Huh?”

“Poi-son. If you’re just going to ask stupid questions please leave. I have to refine my team.”

He leaves you with a quick goodbye

You decided that your team will start with Arbok, Skuntank, Salazzle, and finally ending with Venusaur

After a year of being the Poison Type Gym Leader you let down your walls around Raihan when you realized that you have so much in common with him

Like you both are intimidating to on lookers, take battles very seriously, and take pride in your Pokémon

He also learns that you are trying to figure out how to counteract the poison that Pokémon create if a human gets poisoned by said Pokémon

It took another 3 years for him to ask you out because he didn’t want to ruin your friendship (he asked you out via Applin)

You said yes

After dating for 4 years he asked you to marry him

The public calls you two the Galar Power Couple

Trainers try to hit on you constantly, but you quickly shut that down by giving them a death glare and telling them that you will have your Skuntank spray them causing them to have to bathe in tomato juice for a month or that you are married to Galar’s Dragon Tamer

He loves you for that and he thinks it’s hot

During the time between dating and getting married you finally made the medication to counteract Pokémon poison in the human body

Everyone celebrated and hospitals all over Galar started using it after a few more tests

Allister is the one who came up with calling you “The Harmacist Gym Leader”

And that’s what everyone ended up calling you

The only people who were scared of you besides him were Nessa, Leon, Hop, Bede, and Gordie

But they ended platonically loving you when you and Raihan started dating

Nessa ended up being your Maid of Honor and Kabu was Raihan’s Best Man

And at the end of everyday you and Raihan cuddle but won’t tell anyone that you two do so because you two like to keep up the intimidating looks that you two have going

You teach him about all the Pokémon from Kanto and he teaches you about all the Pokémon in Galar

Finally, your medical creation is being used worldwide and saved countless lives

for the first time, I’m writing a new ship. Blame SwSh, and twitter, and the fact that I think Bede/Gloria would be really cute.

Lowkey spoilers so read at your own discretion.

Bede hated this.

Hyper-focusing on the cookies and biscuits crumbling, on how metal spoons were clanging on the porcelain. He takes a deep breath, eyes flickering to the boy across him. The tension between them was as thick as ever.

And it had been three years.

He clears his throat, noticing how Hop pauses in his actions, almost as if he had been waiting for Bede to speak up. To explain why he was in Ballonlea of all places instead of the lab with Professor Sonia.

“You may be wondering why I asked you to join me today.”

Golden eyes meet his coldly. An expected reaction. A much louder placement of his tea cup back on the saucer.

“You want to ask Gloria out and you figured you could ask me, her best mate, how?” Cheeky, knowing grin slowly etching its way onto his features. Bede was never one to fear anything or anyone, for that matter. But he’s never seen a look so menacing, so conniving, on someone’s face.

And he’s seen Chairman Rose’s.

But all of that was long behind them.

Or at least it should’ve been.

Bede finds his own eyes narrowing as Hop fails to back down. They were amicable at best—all for the sake of Gloria if anything. She swore Hop never held grudges, but yet here he was, dangling his friendship with the current Champion in front of him like the sword in Zacian’s mouth. Teasingly. Annoyingly. Bede’s hands grasp at the table cloth, feeling the warmth hit his cheeks, his eyes struggling to hold.

Frustration pooling.

Overcoming.

Luckily his Hatterene tucked safely in its pokeball.

“I’m right, aren’t I?”

Arceus, Bede hated this.

“I should’ve asked Marnie,” the gym leader mumbles under his breath, looking away from Hop with a prominent scowl. But then he hears shifting. Hop pushing the tea and snacks in front of him to give him ample room to lean forward. Amused chuckle leaving Hop as he eyes Bede carefully.

“Marnie doesn’t know the first thing about asking someone out, but I on the other hand,” Hop’s boisterous voice rising with his body as he lifts off the chair. Showmanship had to run in their family. He’s just as proud, as vibrant, as on top of the world like the ex-Champion until he drops the bomb.

“I at least have Lee to give me advice.”

Bede should’ve expected as much, rolling his eyes, scoffing in the process. Arms crossing angrily.

“So you’re saying you’re as useless as the rest of us.”

Hop doesn’t take offense to it like he expected, shrugging with a laugh before shaking his head.

“Yeah, well…I’m not the one who’s been crushing on Gloria for years.”

Smug. That’s all he is. Smug.

Bede could feel the heat in his cheeks spread, his brow furrowing, his quick “I do not” leaving his lips like a defense mechanism he knew he needed to stop using. But Hop doesn’t seem to believe him, a sarcastic “uh huh” clear as day as he’s quick to sit back down. The tension instead being replaced with dread. Dread that he now had to deal with Hop’s energetic energy instead of secret harbored hatred.

Hatred almost seemed better.

“Oh hey Gloria!”

Bede freezes, looking over his shoulder in record time. Hop laughing almost manically as Bede stares at empty air. The flush on his cheeks was all but evident now, but even as Hop laughed it felt like he wasn’t so much laughing at him, or his emotions, and more like he was laughing at--

“I really don’t understand how she likes a posh jerk like you.”

The circumstances.

Bede opens his mouth. To jab back. To question his word choice. But Hop seemingly decided his time was up, stretching with an over exaggerated yawn, hand covering the smile Bede knew he was hiding.

“Listen. Wooloo,” the horrendous nickname he heard too often from him. “You don’t have to do much, trust me . Just be honest with yourself for once.” A condescending pat on his shoulder declaring an almost truce-like statement. A quick, “oh hey Opal. Champion,” following that made Bede’s annoyance resurge.

So he’s quick to scream, “I’m not falling for your tricks aga--” when his head turns to glare at the exit only to very much find Opal and Gloria standing in the entrance way.

A tsk escapes his guardian. “That’s no way to greet a visitor,” Opal scolds, but his eyes are glued onto Gloria’s sheepish wave.

“You didn’t show up so I came to find you,” and as she smiles in her down-to-earth fashion, seemingly relaxing now that she knew he was safe, he feels his traitorous heart skipping. A reasonable punishment for forgetting that Gloria had asked to meet him in Glimwood Tangle, only to catch him having tea with her best friend of all people.

He opens his mouth to explain, only to realize he very much couldn’t explain. Tea was incriminating enough. How could he tell her the topic at hand was her.

And then he sees Opal eyeing both of them; watching as if this was some cliche romance trying to unfold.

(Which it wasn’t.)

He hastily grabs his jacket, nudges Gloria to walk, mumbles a goodbye to Opal, and finds themselves hit by the humid mossy air of the town.

Just the two of them. Alone. Minutes after Bede maybe, kinda, almost, admitted there was something he felt for her.

“We don’t have to go you know?,” Gloria says sweetly as she glances up at him. The blues from the nearby mushrooms reflecting off her round eyes, the pink hue only enhancing her pale features.

Why was it that any time he was around her he could only react in two ways? Pour everything out? Or lose the ability to form coherent sentence?

Today, thankfully was the latter. Deciding to not embarrass himself any further by trudging forward without a word; Gloria’s own footsteps scurrying along the grassy floor to keep up with him with no complaint.

And as much as he wanted to say he hated...whatever this was. He knew he couldn’t.

He appreciated her calming presence. In how she was more contemplative than shy--quiet only to encourage more out of him. The complete opposite of almost everyone that surrounded her.

He enjoyed her small comments; in how she asked him about the gym, about Opal, about him .

“Are you, the Champion, trying to gain insight on the new Gym Challengers through me?” (So far none have gotten by him, anyways). But she blinks, looking at him with honesty he could only expect out of her.

“There’s rumors you’ve been training into late hours again,” she pauses, lips pursing, eyes continuing to hold his gaze. “So I’m not so much worried about them as I am about you.”

And in the end he knew he admired her.

Not just now, in the moment as he stares at her in disbelief and small lights dance between them in Ballonlea fashion. But in general. And this admiration made him stare, all too often, today no different. Purple eyes noticing how her slouchy cardigan was missing when she simply walked down a path to begin her training. She sported a much paler pink dress than usual, her hair lightly curled, bouncing as she slowly walks through the grass. Occasionally he could pick up how genuine her smile was when she caught a new Pokemon. This time a Sinistea--as if the Champion didn’t already have a set team.

The very team that continued to beat him over and over again.

But even after every loss. Every close call. Every year she was named Champion again.

He knew he just liked everything that Gloria exuded.

Even that frumpy cardigan she always wore.

And now as a cold breeze passes through the forest and he sees her shivering he knew the reasonable thing was to head back into town, for it made no sense to try to get his longtime rival sick.

It seemed she thought the same thing.

“Should we go back, Bede?” Her voice sounding louder in the quiet lull of the forest. Arms gripping around one another to keep warmth in.

Realization settling in.

He was too late to act. To ask. To confess.

He simply nods. Letting her lead the way. Paying too much attention to how her arms frantically ran up and down her exposed skin.

It’s when she lets out a quiet, uncharacteristic squeak, that he realizes what he’s done. His magenta jacket slung over her head, her hands frantically pulling it off so she could look at him.

A blush he’s never seen touching her cheeks.

“What was that for?”

He tsks, pulling his gaze away before continuing to march on.

“You’re a fool for not bringing a sweater to a forest. Put it on.”

It’s haughty. Once again defensive. But Gloria never held it against him. Noticing from the corner of his eye at how she puts it on gingerly. It’s far too large, nearly swallowed by their height difference, but she looks cute nonetheless.

Cute.

Bede shakes his head to remove the dreaded thoughts. The conceived notion that he actually had feelings for Gloria. And as they walk in comfortable silence it’s Gloria that breaks it once they enter Ballonlea.

“You’re actually nice you know.”

It’s a simple comment, one that nearly has him tripping on a stray root as they continue towards the gym. But she’s beaming at him with the warmest expression he had to force himself to look away.

To not expose himself or his heart or his own flustered cheeks.

“I’ve known for a while, but today settles it,” she hums they stop in front of the gym, turning to face him as unsaid words float around them. Her arms attempting to slide out of his jacket until he calls out her name a little too loudly.

She jumps ever so slightly. Wide, curious gaze waiting for him to continue.

“Keep it...you...you have to get home anyways.”

And before he can register her smile once again he feels her body pressed into his. Her arms cushioned by his clothing wrapping around him as best she could.

A hug that ends far too quickly.

“I’ll return it next time I visit.”

And this time it’s Bede whose left stunned by a sudden act. Stomach flipping. Heart racing. Waving almost in a trance-like state as he feels the remnant of her warmth still surrounding him.

Next time he'll pour his heart out to her.

Again, just like all those years ago.
