I wanted to draw some scenes of the totally awesome Fanfiction “The Way You Used To Do” by @edema--ruh. I’ve read it now twice over (which takes some time considering the length) and have again been flashed away by the depictions of the characters and their inner emotional ups and downs and analysis...ah, I loved the character growth. And the angst. There’s a bit of  angst, too.

Jirou, the poor girl, you really had to suffer under all the pining.

The funny thing about fandoms is that there are always very specific fanfics that EVERYONE knows 💀 and its different for every tag/ship/fandom. Like the vigilante deku tag has Viridian the green guide, Bakudeku stans have The Way you used to Do and From The Sidelines, and the Marauders fandom has All the young dudes. AND ALSO EACH FANFIC HAS ITS OWN FANDOM! I love this but also am completely baffled by it

@theyfuckinggay-goodforthem you asked and I delivered. One thing before I start: remember to check the ao3 tags! I'm going to give my opinion on a few fics, but I won't be talking explicitly about their content. So beware!

First off, the Bakudeku HOLY BIBLE: The Way You Used To Do (Multi-chapter)

It's 670k words long, but don't let that number scare you. It's been the best 670k words of bakudeku I've read in my entire life. It's so in-canon, that it feels like reading the manga.

It's the slowest of slow-burns. Enemies to rivals to friends to lovers. However, it's a beauty. It's worth every single minute of your life.

Even though it's "old" it has LITERALLY predicted many things that have occurred in the manga. That's why it feels so realistic. And the author writes Bakugo beautifully. So if you also love Bakugo, this one is for you.

And if you've already read TWYUTD, then "When The Chips Are Down" could also be your liking. (Multi-chapter, but ONGOING)

It's the sequel, however, it's unfinished. But I recommend it because it's the perfect dose of established bakudeku you'll need after reading TWYUTD. I guess it could be read as a standalone, but I would not recommend that.

The author has also written a few bkdk prompts, that are also very in canon but may not have endgame bkdk. Still, they're great. A few of them are angsty too. Check em out because not all of them are bkdk. I remember Chapters 5 and 7 being heartbreaking but amazing if u like angst:

While I'm at it, if you love angst, you should really take a look at edema_ruh's fanfiction. I'd rec you all of them. She's the author of TWYUTD and every piece of her work is fantastic. Plus, she really understands Bakugo and Midoriya so if you like in-canon content, her fics WILL be of your liking. You should be up to date with the manga to read it, I guess. It was the perfect dose of what could have happened after ch.322 came out. It feels really canon. I remember this fic being the ONE THING I DESPERATELY needed after reading ch.322. So, it's DEFFO WORTH IT.

This one's cute. If you like fast fluff, this one is for you. It's not my favorite out there but it's also a post ch.322 that could soothe any kind of pain.

I read the first part and it's awesome. It's another kind of fic: they're just messages Bakugo sent to Deku post ch.306. Really in canon. Would totally expect Bakugo to react like that.

"New collagen fibers": (ONE SHOT)

Post ch. 285. It's hurt/comfort. Fluffy. AHHHHHHH. TW: scars after the first war. and intimate.

I am, for the second time now, reading “The Way You Used To Do” by @edema--ruh and wanted to leave a small note of appreciation and love for that fic! I’m rushing through the chapters and it feels like downing 3 complete Tad Williams books in a row, leaving my head in some kind of daze with the whole emotional stuff that’s happening in the story. I really want to show my love for this fic by drawing something when I’m done, I hope I’ll find the time for that :)

(I really love the thourough analysis of Katsuki’s character, and I love Dr Matsuo. Maybe I could draw one of their scenes in their therapy sessions)

One of my favorite bkdk concepts is them being a constant in each others' lives. They've been together all their lives, and so many important milestones and developments involve each other. They wouldn't be the people or the heroes they are today without each other. Whether it's in a good way or bad way, their presence is just there. Like the world's spinning the wrong way around if they weren't there. There's a huge Deku-shaped or Kacchan-shaped hole in their lives when they're gone, and they didn't even realize 'till then how much space in their life they took up
