GUY MONTAG - Fahrenheit 451
Tumblr media
PROPAGANDA:
HE'S SO GREAT ACTUALLY. it's not his fault he's in a dystopian world that has conditioned him to hate any and all books or that he had to commit crimes against humanity :( honestly fahrenheit is one of my favourite books and he's one of the most interesting protagonists of anything i've read, but that may just be me :)

okay saur remember how my neverafter oc was the youngest brother from the seven swans? WELL. this episode has made this fantastic for me because like. his next life is the youngest brother from the twelve ravens. the youngest brother from the twelve wild ducks. the youngest brother from the wild swans. obsessed now w conceptually like. he is the youngest brother. he will always be the youngest brother. he is ancient, eternal. he is the only one who remembers. but his parents will always wish for a daughter. he and his brothers will always be turned. and when it comes down to it, his transformation will always be the one that comes last, that is deemed least important. his brothers return to normal lives. his sister becomes queen. but he is left, freakish and alone, always. he is the youngest brother. he cannot not be the youngest brother.

oh my god i finally caught a file number joke!
Pasha's file number is 451, as in 451°F, supposedly the burning temperature of books! Referencing both Ray Bradbury's novel Fahrenheit 451 about censorship and the repression of knowledge/culture, when Pasha is a representation of passion being shut in a basement with a boring desk job — and also she's a bookish type made of fire! I'm obsessed.

alectopause diary entry: day 451
i made a post about palamedes’s blatant lactose intolerance vibes last night. the community agrees with me, it seems. it’s been a nice distraction, but already i find my attention waning. each day that passes without news, i feel the flame of hope within me sputter a little more.
the fandom grows restless - grew restless long ago, really. already i fear what topics will drive our conversations in a week, a month, or god forbid further in the future than that. i don’t want to wake up one day and realize i am earnestly posting about whether john gaius is the type of guy to clip his toenails in the common area and just brush them into the carpet. i don’t want to have an opinion on what scenes ianthe was and wasn’t wearing underwear during. at this rate we’ll be arguing about whether coronas tits are real or necromantically augmented by new years.
i keep reminding myself to stay strong. alecto is coming, it really is. we just have to be patient, and only talk about whether mercymorns pubes are also pink a little.
really, i suppose i ought to embrace the chaos. it would certainly be more fun. maybe i’ll go make a post about gideons shoe size or something. goodnight, dear diary, i’ll write more tomorrow.

idol!wooyoung x non idol!reader fluff <3
summary: you show up to surprise wooyoung after a long day of dance practice
wc: 451
˄·͈༝·͈˄*◞ * .ෆ𓂋 ★ 。゚
you stood in the doorway of the kq practice room, watching your boyfriend take a picture in the huge mirror with his two best friends. it was late and he had just finished one of the longest days of practice he’s had in a while. san and yeosang waved to you as they packed up their bags to finally go back to the dorms, but wooyoung was oblivious to you as he was still sitting on the floor typing something on his phone.
you knocked on the doorframe but was just met with a “mm” from wooyoung as his eyes were still glued to his phone. you walked over to him as san and yeosang walked passed you to leave, giggling as they looked at wooyoung.
as you walked up behind him you noticed he was typing out a text to you saying he’ll be home soon, along with the picture he just took. you smiled and bent down to him as you gripped his face from behind.
“hiiiii,” you said and kissed his cheek gently.
he looked up at you, a big smile forming on his face, as well as a look of surprise.
“oh my god, hi, i’m sorry, i didn’t know you were here!!” he said, reaching his arms up at you, motioning for you to sit down with him.
you walked around to face him and placed yourself between his legs. wrapping your legs around his torso, you buried your face in his neck, bringing you two close together. he put his arms around you and squeezed. you both laughed and you lifted your head to look into his eyes.
“tough day?” you asked, running your fingers through his long black hair and cupping his cheeks in your hands.
“yeah, but seeing you has made it all better,” he answered, touching your foreheads together.
you could feel his warm nose on yours and his hands moving down your sides, his fingers gripping at the hem your hoodie. you got chills as you felt his hands on your bare back and you both leaned in. his lips felt so soft on yours, kissing him was your favorite thing in the world.
you moved your face back to look at him. he looked exhausted and you knew he would be much happier at home in his bed. you gave him a kiss on each cheek and then started to stand up.
“we should go, it’s already so late. we can continue this at home,” you smiled at him, grabbing his hand to pull him up.
“okayyy,” he whined, stealing one more kiss when he finally stood up.
you dragged him out of the practice room and headed home, your fingers interlocked.

You weren't the jealous type, you knew you weren't. It never occured to you that you could love someone so passionately and be so possesive of them. When you were jealous though you felt like a hungry fox trying to steal away a chicken from the coop. That's what you were feeling now.
"Chéri?" He mused not quite paying attention to you. "I need to go to meet up with a client." He smiled when you put up an eyebrow questioningly. "What? I'm a full time lawyer, all hours of the day are office time." You chuckled lightly pecking him on the cheek and bidding him goodbye.
He came back around 11, quicker than you were expecting, a woman under his arm entering your house. You went out into the corridor looking confused at hearing a her voice. "Hello?" Vincent looked at you, his face contorting into something you couldn't quite name. "Oh sorry, didn't you get my message?"
You were sitting around the table in your kitchen. Sandra and Vincent chatting away while you were sitting with your arms crossed clearly uncomfortable with her presence. There's nothing to be jealous of, you thought. You were chalking up your envy to how beautiful Sandra was. How her ocean blue eyes complimented her dark blonde hair. How she moved so effortlessly through the room, how she gestured as if to impress but not overwhelm.
She existed purely to be adored and Vincent seemed to be adoring her too much. "And how about you?" Sandra asked with a smile on her face. "Hm?" You hummed, flustered as your own jealousy just overshadowed any connection you could've formed with her.
When Sandra left around midnight she hugged you. She hugged you real tight, a hug cementing the fact that she would be showing up more often in your life. You hugged her back not wanting to seem off.
When she got out of your space Vincent came up to you and hugged you from behind.
"Sorry for taking so long chéri. I know you don't like unexpected guests." You relaxed into his touch, putting your head on his shoulder and letting him kiss you on the neck. "Honey..." you started. "Sandra and you... you're not..." you trailed off.
He spun you around and looked at you concerned. "No. Absolutely not." He got closer to your face as if to amplify his point. "I wouldn't do this to you. Ever. Don't think that of me mon cœur." He kissed you as delicately as he could, bringing you closer to yourself.
"I love you." You said after you broke the kiss. Tears already welling up in your eyes. "Et je t'aime aussi." He said wiping them.

Conflict Narrative
Conflict narrative is the type of plot a story follows. Describing and writing for a type of conflict narrative is the driving force for the plot. Any show, movie, book, play - everything follows a type of conflict narrative or several conflict narratives.
This post will be explaining the several categories and then how to write for them.
Internal vs. External Conflicts
Internal : this is a conflict that happens within a character. It relates deeply to statc vs. dynamic characters, referring to my former post. It often leads to character development or the lack thereof, because the character(s) are actively fighting their own desires and beliefs.
External : this is set against the character(s). It’s a physical manifestation often, and the external forces stand in the way of a character(s)’s goals and dreams, creating tension and opposition.
Often, these come together and a story SHOULD include both to create an interesting and realitistic narrative. After all, real life always includes both internal and external conflicts.
Six types of Literary Conflicts
*side note : man refers to the human race (or whatever species the protagonist happens to be) and not the gender.
Man vs. Self : It’s self-explanatory. This is an internal conflict where Man may be trying to decide what is morally correct in a situation or how to improve their mental health. (ex. Les Miserables or The Handmaid’s Tale.)
Man vs. Man : It’s a direct competition between two characters. One Man’s wants is conflicting with another Man. This conflict can take the form as something small, such as a fist fight, or can encompass the entire plot as a fight for power. (ex. The Secret Garden or The Hunger Games.)
Man vs. Nature : It’s also self-explanatory. It can be a survival situation where Man is striving to survive a tsunami, or it can be a Planet of the Apes situation. (ex. Moby Dick or Into the Wild.)
Man vs. Supernatural : Man is fighting against something that is not manifested into out reality. This is usually used in horror and fantasy and science fiction. Man could be fighting ghosts to a big, murderous lizard. (ex. Scooby-Doo or It.)
Man vs. Technology : In another form, it can be worded as tradition vs. progress, depending on the defition of ‘progress’ in the novel in question. It can be something science fiction-y such as fighting robots to a tell-tale about the importance of tradition. (ex. Farenheit 451 or A Wrinkle In Time.)
Man vs. Society : This is where Man is going against a large, driving force that controls society. An example is the government, social norms, or traditions. They either are attempting to survive or fight against the external conflict. (ex. Lord of the Flies or 1984.)
How do you write and create conflicts?
It is good to note what type of genre it is and what the general plot will be. Usually, just from the gist, it is obvious what at least one conflict is. However, most books include at least two or three. when trying to conjure up the conflict, ask these questions :
What is the protagonist(s)’s main desire?
What is their unconcious desire?
What is the worst thing that can happen to this character?
What characters, institutions, or forces can bring this antagonism into relaity (if it isn’t already)?
What is/are the character(s) like and how do they create friction in the conflict?
These genral questions will reveal a lot when it comes to the nature of the plot. you can read any book, watch any movie or show, play any video game, and ALL of them will exhibit at least two of the conflicts above and flesh it out (at least, if it’s a good form of entertainment).

Lalo stalking the girl he has a crush on with his binoculars 🎥 👀
Tumblr media
notes: reader is female?? idk, creepy behaviour (I can't fix him🥺) words: 451.
Tumblr media
Lalo usually didn't used to obsess over people who weren't interfering with his plans.
He wasn't the type of man who would only obsess on a whim, or so he thought until he saw you.
He considered himself a reasonable man, the kind who would never do anything for personal pleasure. Normally, his obsessions were linked to plans he devised in his head, ways to improve the business and the most effective way to eliminate competition. But this time was different, he allowed himself to be selfish and obsessed with something of his own.
The ease with which he found your address was ridiculous, a nice house in a not-so-dangerous area, but far from Albuquerque, few houses around and a good hill distance to observe, to observe you.
The first time he saw you was when you had certain interactions with that guy named Mike, and although at first he thought you would be a good way to get closer and use you to obtain information from him, his obsession quickly shifted to a more personal level.
There was something about you that managed to trigger that macabre switch in his head, probably because his encounters with women had decreased significantly upon arriving in Albuquerque. Normally, American women didn't catch Lalo's attention and he was here for work, but this had been different.
He took the time to find the best area where he couldn't be seen from a considerable distance and sat down to observe you, as if he were an animal stalking its prey. He mentally noted your routine, how you walked barefoot around your house and moved from one side to the other. He imagined you were restless, perhaps a little active, and that only made his imagination fly. He also noticed that you liked to have background music while you seemed to be tidying things up on your own, and Lalo imagined what kind of music someone like you might enjoy, whether you liked to dance or if you were too shy to do it. He also noticed how you didn't handle the heat very well and preferred to wear more comfortable and certainly revealing clothes, something that made him swallow hard and maintain his composure.
Seeing you so vulnerable in the comfort of your own home made him feel overwhelmed with his own feelings. In some way, he longed for that, the simplicity of everyday life and how you could seem so calm in your own home. Lalo wondered if you slept well at night unlike him. If you had a peaceful job and if your friendships weren't problematic.
In some way, he loved seeing you like that, living something very different from his own life.

DE ARTE MAGICA art: yec ✸ yourz @yec_yourz
Of magical art : the secrets of sexual magic
Eroto-comatose lucidity is a technique of sex magic known best by its formulation by English author and occultist Aleister Crowley in 1912, but which has several variations and is used in a number of ways by different spiritual communities.
LIBER CDLI (451) Class B
(The 15th Chapter of Liber CDXIV)
XV Of Eroto-comatose Lucidity
The Candidate is made ready for the Ordeal by general athletic training, and by feasting. On the appointed day he is attended by one or more chosen and experienced attendants whose duty is (a) to exhaust him sexually by every known means (b) to rouse him sexually by every known means. Every device and artifice of the courtesan is to be employed, and every stimulant known to the physician. Nor should the attendants reck of danger, but hunt down ruthlessly their appointed prey.
Finally the Candidate will enter into a sleep of utter exhaustion, resembling coma, and it is now that delicacy and skill must be exquisite. Let him be roused from this sleep by stimulation of a definitely and exclusively sexual type. Yet if convenient, music wisely regulated will assist.
The attendants will watch with assiduity for signs of waking; and the moment these occur, all stimulation must cease instantly, and the Candidate be allowed to fall again into sleep; but no sooner has this happened than the former practice is resumed. This alteration is to continue indefinitely until the Candidate is in a state which is neither sleep nor waking, and in which his Spirit, set free by perfect exhaustion of the body, and yet prevented from entering the City of Sleep, communes with the Most High and the Most Holy Lord God of its being, maker of heaven and earth.
The Ordeal terminates by failure---the occurence of sleep invincible--- or by success, in which ultimate waking is followed by a final performance of the sexual act. The Initiate may then be allowed to sleep, or the practice may be renewed and persisted in until death ends all. The most favourable death is that occurring during the orgasm, and is called Mors Justi.
As it is written: Let me die the death of the Righteous, and let my last end be like his!

ttrpgs in the classroom (part 3)
back with another ttrpg class update!! this post has been Delayed for a while due to grad school craziness but finally sitting down to type it. another one we DID NOT PLAY (my students were so upset) but read as a piece of art and had a discussion on in class
the game:
for our discussion we read what little the flames leave us by @sprintingowl
it's a game about loss and sacrifice where you embark on a doomed quest and lose parts of yourself along the way. the way this is represented in the game? whenever you push the narrative in the way that you want to, you have to set your character sheet on fire, burning away things like bonds with allies and what you're most proud of
the goal:
introducing multiplayer games, continuing our discussion of genre expectations, pushing the assumptions of the medium's restrictions, generating story ideas within a predesigned framework
the methods:
the students all read the game before class, then wrote a short discussion board post, and then came in ready for a class discussion
the discussion board post asked students to write 200-300 words while considering these questions:
How did it make you feel reading through the game?
How did this game challenge your concept of what a game is?
What do you think the experience of playing this would be like?
How do you think the game's mechanics would affect the tone of gameplay and the story?
What sort of stories do you imagine would work best with the mechanics of this system?
How did your opinion of the game grow or change when you looked at the character sheet?
What do you think the game must feel like from the characters' perspectives?
the results:
the discussion went well after i got the students to stop arguing with me about getting to take a field trip off campus to go play!! next time i'm gonna have to be Really specific that we Aren't playing this game before i assign it as a reading
everyone had very interesting things to say about how this challenged their ideas of a game and why. most of the students werent familiar with ttrpgs at all at the beginning of this class, so some of them were really interested in the rules-lite collaborative narrative aspect of it, and others were really interested in fire as a mechanic, and how that represents loss in game
most of the students thought that in-game, it would feel very tragic and high stakes to the characters, though i did have one who thought the characters may be very apathetic and checked out if they were willing to risk all of this for the goal in the first place
we talked about what stories the students would tell with this system, and we had a good mix of answers! the two that stood out to me the most were "murder house", where the goal youre willing to lose everything for is to merely survive the house, and the second which was "a princess leaving the castle", which we discussed was still very much about loss, but in a different way than the other answers of "bank robbery" and "wild west" that we got from a lot of other students
the first header of "it was a pleasure to burn" was also pointed out by a student, and we discussed the parallels with fahrenheit 451, and how the characters in the book lost more and more when they tried to grasp at autonomy and freedom from the ruling power of the story
overall super successful discussion day and i would absolutely assign this game again!! (with a huge disclaimer that we ARENT PLAYING IN CLASS SO I DONT GET SUED)
our first big essay is due on friday so i should hopefully be back with more soon!

Loki desperately needs an MRI for us to figure out what is going on inside his brain, and it will help us with getting him the right treatment for his almost-daily seizures. Unfortunately, this will cost $3,000. @evilwriter37 is calling tomorrow to schedule his MRI. We are going ahead with this. I have already paid $1200 and $451 for his treatment and appointments, making the number we actually need help with out to be $4,651. I’m not asking people to cover the whole cost, but if you could donate even a dollar that’d be helpful. If you want you can also buy Loki Love Squad merch. My bro and I are currently trying to come up with a new design. If that’s something you want we’ll work harder on it.
The top link is to my venmo (which might have problems receiving payments, so if there are, please let me know and I’ll try to work it out). (I’m also going to pretend it doesn’t have my name attached to it.)
Second link is to Loki’s merch. I have a hoodie and I can tell you it is very, very soft.
The third link is to my paypal.
Again, not asking someone to pay the whole price, but if even a bunch of you could donate $2, that would be a huge help. Thank you.
UPDATE: New merch is available!

“It is a distinctive feature of Greek eschatology that Hades rarely, if at all, assumes the role of tormentor of the wicked dead. Aeschylus alone assigns him a judicial role when the Chorus in the Eumenidês describe him as 'a great chastiser (euthynos) of mortals below the earth' who 'overlooks everything with his recording mind' (273ff.).
Even in Aeschylus, however, his role is ambivalent: in the Suppliants (157ff.) he is identified as 'the most hospitable Zeus of the dead' to whom the Danaids promise to present themselves, having duly committed suicide, if the Olympian gods do not honour their appeal for protection in the world above. Neither Sophokles nor Euripides suggest that Hades performs the function of judging the dead, though in Sophokles' Antigone (451) it is stated that Dike (Justice) shares residence with the gods below. This essential neutrality of Hades is reflected in the type of epithets which are applied to the god in tragedy. He is 'common to many' and 'where all must sleep'.”

Healed Promises - Pt 1
! By Xizara i mean Evil Xisuma, that’s the name I have him !
! These phone numbers are purely randomly typed into the keyboard, please do not try calling them !
Xisuma prided himself on the fact that he kept his promises. He was a man of honor - whatever he told someone he’d do (or implied that he’d do it), he would do it. No one would be let down under his watch, least of all his hermits.
He didn’t see Wels all that often, but he liked to think of their pride as a bonding connection.
Maybe there was a reason for that. Maybe it was the guilt that consumed his soul every single day since he was eighteen. The guilt that ate away at him, constantly reminding him of a fateful portal he’d opened.
He’d let them down by leaving.
He always kept promises after that though. Ones he could keep, ones that were iffy. He always kept them. A promise was like a little trinket, something small that meant something big to someone else. They’d entrusted him to keep it and so he honored that wish.
Which was why he was initially so hesitant to send a reply letter back. By no means was it a huge commitment. But… did he really want to see him again?
Xizara had never, ever done anything wrong. He had always been the one to wrap Xia in blankets and whisper soothing words to her, all while he himself was the one who invoked arguments with his parents as a last-ditch effort to try to help. Maybe if he’d been more emotionally available for his siblings they wouldn’t resent him so much. Xizara had probably asked to meet him just to tell him off after gathering the courage to see him after fifteen years.
He picked up the letter to read it again, parchment clearly ripped out of an empty notebook, the paper softened from the times he’d crumpled it up and instantly regretted it.
Xisuma -
I write to you after a while to tentatively ask to meet. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you, and as everyone knows, twins always stick together.
Void if only they could have stuck together, like False and her twin did.
I know you’re busy - you always are, precious Admin child.
Was he being made fun of? Was that some form of anger being expressed in the note of always being overlooked?
So if you could please write back that would be great. We can arrange a time or something?
My new comm number is 682-720-8165 if you want to save it. If you’re mad at me just say that.
Inanis’ blessings,
Xizara Void
Dammit this was difficult. Was he annoyed or not? Surely if he was annoyed the letter would be worded differently? But he could be trying to hide it.
He pulled out a piece of paper and a fancy pen from his stationery drawer.
Hey Xizara,
Yeah I’d be down to meet! I’m pretty busy lately but as the admin of the server I’m sure I can delegate or something, haha.
Do you want me to come back home or do you want to visit me here? I can make accommodations for the air and stuff, but it’d be helpful if you still have the helmet or mask I gave you.
I don’t have much of a preference but I get the feeling I’m not really welcomed at home anymore…
You can contact me as well if you like by personal comm at 451-269-0157. If that’s the wrong number just let me know, I get my work and personal numbers mixed up sometimes.
Regards,
Xisuma Void, Ad.M
He sighed, setting down the pen. The promise was inked and he was now obligated to send it.
If this was a trap waiting for him he’d rather be prepared, but if it wasn’t he didn’t want to estrange his siblings even more.
To the interdimensional post office.
