Halfway through season 1 of the umbrella academy and here are my thoughts on the characters so far:

Luther- could’ve been good if he wasn’t written to be so overwhelmingly uninteresting. Hate how they shoehorned in romance between him and Allison, kinda ruined him for me for now but he could bring it back pretty easily.

Allison- I really like her and thinks she’s a really interesting character except for the romance thing with Luther and how she can’t interact with anyone without it devolving into an argument. (This is true for like half of them but the only person she can have an actual constructive conversation with at this point is Luther and their whole thing just a no for me)

Diego- I like him. Don’t really have much to say except I think he’s neat. Don’t like the whole possessive ex-boyfriend thing but otherwise he’s pretty cool.

Klaus- I did *not* expect the junkie to be my favorite character but he is, by a long shot. He’s also very gender non-conforming and I love that for them. I am he/they-ing them and you cannot stop me. They’re just so cool. He’s far and away the most captivating and he cares so much but hides it under several addictions and now he’s trying to get better and!!! Yeah, they’re my favorite.

Five- he’s up there with Klaus. He’s just fun but also really tragic and is just a very interesting guy. Want him to interact more with the others, but he does have other things on his mind so it’s understandable.

V (don’t wanna deadname him)- he’s who I expected to be my favorite but he’s just kinda boring right now. Like he’s sweet and relatable but just not fun to watch at this point. However he is the single most trans person to exist /pos. Like I look at him and am like “how??? how do y’all she/her this dude?” He’s such a lil guy and him being trans works really well for his character and his story, despite it just being for the actor (I assume)

Can we talk about how the afterlife gets more and more colorful as Klaus becomes more and more in control of his powers? Cause that’s BRILLIANT filmmaking right there
