@ficwip's word this week was Mirror, and rather than reblog it with a single line, I thought I'd do a longer snippet for the word.
~*~
The door cracked open, and messy black hair led into the room as James peaked around the door. Sirius couldn’t help but smile when he saw James. “There he is, man of the hour!” James came in, then stopped with a hand to his chest like he’d been pushed back. “Oh, excuse me, your majesty. Man of the century, and may your reign be long and prosperous.”
Sirius snorted. “Shut it with that bullshit. I’m not king yet.”
“Right, not until next week.” James strode up and stood next to him in the mirror. “Gotta get you wed and bred first.”
Sirius groaned. “That’s not better.”
James smiled at his reflection. “Not untrue, though. Have you met her yet?”
Sirius shook his head. “Mother didn’t want me to see her beforehand. Something about good luck.”
“Mate, I think they did that when they married kings off to the ugly daughters,” James said with a laugh.
Sirius pulled at his sleeves. “I think it’s more the ‘she’s not a he’ aspect of her existence that Mother thinks I’ll most object to.”
“Sure, but you know that without seeing her, right?” James turned to face Sirius directly rather than through the mirror. “She must know that you’re aware you are going to marry a woman.”
“She is, but I think I’m expected to bolt if I know her ahead of time.” He shrugged again, but didn’t turn away from his reflection. “It doesn’t really matter, though. Mother made it clear that she won’t support my marrying a man.”
“I know.” James placed a hand on Sirius’s arm. “I wish it was different.”
Sirius turned to James with a tight smile. “Such is the life of a King.”

The hardest part of writing a Band AU with the Slytherins being the band is figuring out what I want them to sing. Reg is the lead singer and everytime I hear a song that I think he would look hot singing I want to add it. But the genres are so vastly different I- HELP ME

(I know this prompt has come and gone @wolfstarmicrofic, but you know I can't resist Prince Sirius😅)
8th: Royal
Remus wants to get as far away as possible from the man who broke his heart. Sirius will stop at nothing to track down the man who broke his heart.
(Don't worry, happy ending!)
The innkeeper looks vaguely surprised as she takes in the combination of his high quality clothes and dishevelled appearance as he enters the old-fashioned, but well-kept inn. So has the innkeepers in the previous three inns he visited, who had looked even more surprised when he had simply looked around the common room and left again.
He has a good feeling about this one, though.
The innkeeper recognizes him as someone who might have some coin on him, so she lets him pass without any questions. As he enters the common room, he immediately spots what he has been looking for. Or rather, who he has been looking for.
Like a wolf having spotted his prey, he walks across the common room to the man sitting at a table in the back, drinking a mug of ale. He stops when he’s standing right in front of the man’s table.
“You’re a hard man to track down.”
The man puts down his mug and looks up, his eyes the exact shade of amber as the ale. Eyes that he’s used to seeing filled with warmth, but that are now cold and void of any emotion. “Ever considered I did not want to be found?”
He slides the other chair back and sits down.
The man sighs when he realises he isn’t going to escape this confrontation. “What do you want, Black?”
“An explanation,” Sirius replies. “You owe me that much.”
For the first time Sirius sees emotion in Remus’ eyes, as they flare with anger. “I don’t owe you a damn thing!”
Sirius regards him calmly. “So, was that what it was all about then? When the money and the titles were gone, you decided that wasn’t what you signed up for?”
“What I ‘did not sign up for’,” Remus hisses. “Was being your dirty little secret!”
Sirius observes him for a moment as something starts to dawn on him. He takes a piece of parchment out of his pocket and throws it on the table. “I reckon that you’ve seen the proclamation?” He asks calmly.
“How could I have missed it? It was all over town.” Remus purposely doesn’t look at the parchment, where the heading of the proclamation is clearly visible:
Royal Wedding Forthcoming! Crown Prince of the House of Black announces betrothal to Lady Heloise of the House of Lestrange
“And did you read the proclamation?” Sirius asks.
“The title was already entertaining enough,” Remus sneers. “Forgive me for not wanting to learn all details about your future marital bliss.”
Sirius slides the parchment over to Remus. “Read it.” It’s not a question, it’s a command, as only someone who was born and raised a ruler can command.
Remus glares at him, but then his anger makes place for resignation as he takes the parchment, his eyes not leaving Sirius’. “So, I must drink your poisoned chalice to the last drop,” he murmurs, before he starts to read.
“It is with great joy that His Majesty the King Orion, and Her Majesty the Queen Walburga, of the Most Ancient and Noble House of Black announce that their son and heir and successor to the throne has selected a suitable bride. A long-awaited unification of the noble bloodlines of the House of Black and the House of Lestrange shall occur as Lady Heloise Lestrange shall be wed to Your Royal Highness Crown Prince Regulus Arcturus Black-”
Remus’ eyes snap up. “Wait, Regulus?”
“Regulus,” Sirius replies calmly, leaning back in his chair and crossing his arms over his chest.
“But... But... You’re the heir and successor of the House of Black! You’re the crown prince!”
“I was the crown prince,” Sirius corrects. “Those titles were stripped away from me when I told my parents I had fallen in love with a man not of noble descent, and I intended to marry him.”
Remus opens and closes his mouth, unable to find words.
“Can you imagine how foolish I felt,” Sirius continues. “Upon finding out that the man I had just given up my entire life for had left town without a word.”
“I didn’t know!” Remus exclaims. “Honest to god, I didn’t. I saw the proclamation and I assumed...” He shakes his head. “I thought you had been deceiving me.”
“I must say, I had not anticipated this turn of events,” Sirius admits. “I assumed you had heard, realised I no longer had my fortune or my titles, and was not interested in being with me without those, so decided the easiest thing to do was just to get away.”
Remus looks down at the table. “Why did you even bother to track me down?”
“Honestly?” Sirius asks. “I did not want you to get off so easy. I wanted to force you to look me in the eyes and admit it. If you were going to break my heart, you would have to do it to my face.”
“I wish you hadn’t,” Remus whispers. As Sirius arches an eyebrow, he continues. “It was easier when I could focus on how much I hated you, so I wouldn’t have to feel how much I missed you. Yes, I felt like an idiot for getting my hopes up with someone so clearly out of my league, but now I have to come to terms with being an idiot for singlehandedly ruining the best thing that could’ve ever happened to me.”
“You underestimate me.”
“I know, I should never have assumed-”
“No,” Sirius interrupts. “I mean you’re underestimating me now. Remus, I literally renounced an entire kingdom for you! Do you really think I’m going to give up that easily?”
“You... You’ll give me another chance?” Remus stares at Sirius with wide eyes, and a glimmer of hope in those eyes.
Sirius leans forward in his chair and takes Remus’ hand. “I’ve got no money, no status, no titles, no plan. Good lord, I’ve never even learned a proper profession besides being a prince! I’ve got nothing to offer but myself, if you’ll have me?”
“Always,” Remus replies instantly, squeezing Sirius’ hand as tears well up in his eyes. “Forever. You’re enough, you’ll always be enough.”

FIC STUFF — links to ao3
hi :) i write fics on ao3
i'm alright with any pronouns and you can call me whatever you like. you're also welcome to ask any questions, even anonymous, and I'll happily answer.
also, constructive criticism about the fic is very welcome <3 english is not my first language and, although my level is high, sometimes i might make mistakes. if you notice any, please let me know :)
here's the link ig
"the elysium" — royal au, jegulus, wolfstar & nobleflower centered
characters die, but not those with a pov and it has a happy ending. it's a wip and i post about 15k words long chapters every ten days or so
warnings: graphic violence, angst, characters dying — sex scenes won't be explicitly described, just "hinted to" or written in a way that readers know what is happening without it turning into smut
the summary
For as long as he could remember, Regulus knew he was going to marry a prince.
It was sealed in his destiny, embroidered in the fairy tales the maid told him to make him sleep, so neatly sewed into his eyelids that he even dreamed of it at night. In his dreams, he was always glad and so giddy about it, up until the moment he grew up to have wants and needs and Regulus understood that there was no universe in which he could have wanted to do otherwise.
For as long as he could remember, James knew he was going to be king.
It was written in his blood, running through his veins as steely resolve. It was destiny chanted in royal hallways, whispered in his ears as both a promise and a warning. Since he had been able to think for himself, James had been pervaded by an ever present mindfulness of fate, manifesting in the way he talked and walked, rode his horse and wielded his spear. Lords, barons and dukes had called him heir to the throne before knowing his name, kneeled at his feet before he could know what it meant to rule. James looked in the mirror and saw a prince before he could ever recognise himself.
Uneasy lies the head that wears a crown.
when i'll post something else, i'll put it here, so I'll pin the post :)
please lmao be kind, idk how to tumblr my way into this yet

Saturday Snippet
I'm not tagged or anything; I just wanted to share something.
This is from my Wolfstar Royal Arranged Marraige AU. As a reminder, Remus is trans but not out yet, and this is the night of the wedding to Sirius. They are virtual strangers here.
PLEASE NOTE: This is Sirius's POV, and since Remus has not told his new husband he is trans, Sirius calls Remus by his soon-to-be dead name and female pronouns. There's no animosity here, just lack of knowledge.
~~~
Sirius didn’t have to wait long, however. The door between their chambers opened, and Rebecca walked through wearing a long, thin white gown. He could just make out the outline of her body under it, silhouetted through the gauzy material with the light of the fireplace behind her. She was his wife, for better or for worse, and he was going to have to figure out how to make that work.
As he walked closer to her, he also realized that she was trembling. No, trembling was a mild word for the way her body shook as he approached. Her eyes looked set, certain, but Sirius couldn’t stop the uneasy feeling that hit his gut. “Are you alright, Rebecca?”
There was a tightening at the corner of her lips, but it passed quickly. “Yes, your majesty. I’m fine.”
That was wrong too. “You don’t have to call me that.”
Her eyes flicked up to him, then back to the floor. “I’m sorry, sir. I thought that was the proper title. How should I call you?”
“I think it is the proper title, but we don’t have to use titles when we’re alone, do we? Now that we’re married.” He stood in front of her hopefully. He’d never wanted a wife, sure, but he’d hoped that they could at least be friends. This would be horrid if they couldn’t even do that.
She hesitated for a moment. “What should I call you?”
“Well, my friends call me Sirius.” She looked at him again, one eyebrow slightly raised, and it was the most genuine emotion he’d seen on her so far. He let out a breathy chuckle. “Well, when we are alone and not standing on formalities, my closest friends will call me Sirius. I would like for you to call me Sirius when we’re in our room.”
“Alright. I think I can do that,” she said. He didn’t miss that she still didn’t say it, but he hoped she would work on it. Sirius also noticed that the trembling had died down to a faint tremor, and he hoped that this meant he was gaining her trust.
“What should I call you?” he asked.
“I suppose whatever you want.”
“Would it be alright if I called you Rebecca? Or if you don’t think it’s too personal, I could call you something like darling.”
There was the tightening around her lips again, but it passed quickly again. “I would not be opposed to a term of endearment.”
“Excellent.” Sirius offered her his hand. “May I escort you to bed, my dear?”
Okay hear me and my new shifting obsession out (and don’t laugh about it when you haven’t tried it):
Remember the Bring Me The Horizon Concert at the Royal Albert Hall 2016?
I‘m imagining that it’s Sirius‘ band: he is Oly obvi, Marlene is on drums and the Prewett Twins (one of them is Jordan fish) are also there. Dorcas is the lead singer of the choir (can’t find her name sadly).
James, Lily, Mary and Remus are in the crowd in the front. Remus is new in the friend group, hasn’t met Sirius or listend to their music yet and got invited by James.
- that’s the basic construct-
Here a few favourite moments:
- Go To Hell For Heavens Sake being about Sirius‘ struggles to fit in (in his own family) but also about the persona he shows others to protect himself (being loud, prankster etc.) -> „No one wants to see you, no one wants to hear you“
- drown being James‘ song (when oly says „Let me hear you“, James whistles)
- True Friends being about Peter who betrayed the group and the band a few months before
- throne being for Reggie and about their abusive family (Jordan’s vocals on this song are so unappreciated sadly)
- Can You Feel My Heart being about Sirius‘ depression and is therefore very emotional to James (he cried hearing it for the first time -> a way for Sirius to communicate his feelings)
I really recommend listening to the whole concert even when you don’t like/want to imagine this AU. It is one when not the best concerts I’ve ever listend to
“Does the little prince think he is above kneeling in front of the Queen?” wonders Narcissa from where she sits on her throne, towering over them.
Regulus, still keeping his head low and continuing to stare at his boots as if this were his first time seeing them, does dutifully lower to his knees. But before he ever hits the floor his mother grips his arm. Nails dig into his flesh as she hauls him back to his feet.
“An heir to the Black family does not kneel for anyone” she hisses. Always hissing. Her words drenched in poison, as though she was the snake and her words the venom.
“Well, that is one way to declare Sirius as disowned …” Alice chirms in from where she sits on a smaller throne next to her wife.
She winks in their direction and Regulus does not need to see Remus' face behind him, to know it must have turned crimson at the implication.
His mothers might have to. Though for her it is fury, not bashfulness.
