there is just something so beautiful about songs about the joy you get from such mundane things.

like singing about how the weather's sunny or the weather's rainy but in a way so heartfelt and uplifting the song stays with you, close to your heart for years to come even if you don't know its name

like singing about how much you love your best friends. not because they recently did something that particularly amazes you but just appreciating them being there for you and just generally genuinely making you happy

the most mundane everyday things can become the most meaningful and heartfelt and it's probably just because I'm aroace but I feel that they're so much more genuine than songs about how happy you are because you and your romantic partner got back together or something

i remember seeing a youtube comment a short while back that was along the lines of "I know that usually it's only love songs that are meaningful but this song is the exception" and just thinking dear god how sad must this person's life be if they can't find beauty in anything other than something to do with love. Have you never just stared at a bird perched in a tree singing? Never seen a painting so full of colours that compliment each other in such a way that they each make the others look brighter but it never becomes a clashing over-the-top mess but a harmony of rainbows? Never just eaten a really good meal?

I would trade a thousand shallow, boring, generic songs about romance or heartbreak in exchange for one song about the beauty in the mundane things we take for granted.

#em draws stuff #hornblower #william bush #horatio hornblower #first and foremost! sorry for melting bush's face off in this image #but for a bit more context this is because I had the idea that a hornblower story based in 'the steadfast tin soldier' would be interesting #so here we've got pewter-cast model bush and paper theatre guy hornblower (and things are not going well for them!) #this one was an interesting challenge since I wanted bush to look like the metal was sort of melting out from under his paint #and then hornblower's paper hasn't quite caught alight yet but is starting to char at the very edges of him and where he's touching bush #both of them are much more complex designs than I'd originally been planning for (bush has got ball-and-socket joints and all...) #(the original original plan was that I would learn pewter casting and make him Real. as you can see I did not do that.) #but hey I'm pleased with how they turned out in the end! this took me three sharpe episodes to draw :| #(eleven episodes in and I think it made me weird in the head so I think I will slow down for the time being! too much riflery!) #aaaaaanyway. thinking about troy and abed in epidemiology again. how troy spent the entire episode running away from the idea of being a "nerd" and essentially abed as well - only for them to run away from the zombies together and abed basically "sacrificing" himself just for troy to not get zombified. and troy initiating the "i love you" / "i know" scene (from star wars) as he's about to get away... like idc if im reaching but that is not only a proper confession of love in my opinion but also the moment where troy realises that if abed can literally sacrifice for him then he can at the very least embrace his nerdiness and not try to be so tough all the time, for himself and for abed!!! plus right after that scene u get the whole mamma mia sequence where troy decides to just be a nerd and ditch the sexy dracula costume to get the college back to normal.... but in the end it's abed who ends up zombifying him after troy punches and breaks his way away from everyone and him saying "abed, we're friends" in the saddest most betrayed voice ever aaaaaaaa fatal mistake sonething something romantic tragedy etc etc u get it
