#that one commenter ALONE drove me to make this how the heck could you think that love songs are automatically the most meaningful like tf??
Text
there is just something so beautiful about songs about the joy you get from such mundane things.
like singing about how the weather's sunny or the weather's rainy but in a way so heartfelt and uplifting the song stays with you, close to your heart for years to come even if you don't know its name
like singing about how much you love your best friends. not because they recently did something that particularly amazes you but just appreciating them being there for you and just generally genuinely making you happy
the most mundane everyday things can become the most meaningful and heartfelt and it's probably just because I'm aroace but I feel that they're so much more genuine than songs about how happy you are because you and your romantic partner got back together or something
i remember seeing a youtube comment a short while back that was along the lines of "I know that usually it's only love songs that are meaningful but this song is the exception" and just thinking dear god how sad must this person's life be if they can't find beauty in anything other than something to do with love. Have you never just stared at a bird perched in a tree singing? Never seen a painting so full of colours that compliment each other in such a way that they each make the others look brighter but it never becomes a clashing over-the-top mess but a harmony of rainbows? Never just eaten a really good meal?
I would trade a thousand shallow, boring, generic songs about romance or heartbreak in exchange for one song about the beauty in the mundane things we take for granted.

Author's Note: hiya peeps! enjoy!
masterlist
---
For her, it started small. It was her first day working. When Y/N had seen him walk into the bar, flanked by two of his closest friends, sure— for a moment, she was stunned, as were the other women working with her, but then as soon as he was out of sight, she returned to her work, ignoring her friends as they talked about the man.
Y/N knew better. She knew the kind of man he was, the way he was with a different woman almost every day and she knew better than to develop any kind of feelings for him. Plus, she was a taken woman herself, thinking about another man while being in a relationship with someone had to be wrong, right?
That's why she wanted an out— to break up with her current boyfriend. And he even made it easier for her by being the worst fucking boyfriend on the planet earth. She had hundreds of reasons as to why she was breaking up with him, the only question was when she could do it. Anyway, back to James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes...
Y/N couldn't help it. She went from ignoring him, to stealing small glances at him, to dreaming about him to thinking about him 24/7 in a matter of months.
Y/N worked as a bartender at one of the bars that the mobster owned. Heck, Bucky Barnes owned half the city, but that bar was one of his favorite places to visit. He went there everyday, most days not having a drink, but keeping a watchful gaze on the events that took place around the bar. There would be fights sometimes, and sometimes, the older men would hit on the young bartenders.
He didn't care, of course he didn't. That is, until he saw her. The moment he laid his eyes on her, her name still unknown to him, he was enamored. He kept looking over at her as she worked, sometimes giggling along with the other bartenders, sometimes cracking jokes that made all of them keel over in laughter.
Every time he saw her laughing, his heart fluttered in his chest and a warmth settled over him. He felt light-headed and giddy, even though he didn't drink. Within a few months, he was sure, he wanted her to be his indefinitely. Y/N, however, was shocked at his behavior, not knowing that she was the one who stole his heart.
His promiscuity stopped within the first week of him noticing Y/N. He no longer had one-night stands, no more dames by his side as he attended lavish parties, and the news had caught on. Who is the woman who won the mobster's affections? Y/N had read in a paper one morning. She felt… kind of relieved that he wasn't a playboy anymore.
It wasn't a good look on him.
---
Y/N was cleaning the counter with a rag when she heard the door opening and closing. Ugh, another customer. She looked up and grimaced as she saw one of the old, pervy bastards sitting in front of her, a smile on his face. "Good evening, sir, what can I get you?" She kept the annoyance from seeping into her voice.
He gave her his order and leaned forward, which caused Y/N to unconsciously lean back. "Change your mind today?" he smirked, picking up the glass just as Y/N set it down in front of him, causing their fingers to brush. She shuddered. "No," she replied politely, glancing around the room, hoping someone would come save her. As if. That's when their eyes met.
Y/N found herself staring at the man of her dreams, who was sitting in the corner of the bar with his friends. And he was staring straight back at her. Y/N gulped and turned away from him, instead focusing on the man in front of her who was shamelessly flirting with the woman who had to be at least 20 years younger than him.
"Stop flirting with my employee and let her do her job."
The entire bar froze the moment James Buchanan Barnes got up from his seat, heading towards Y/N. Y/N's breath caught in her throat at his cool but threatening tone as he stared at the pervert, his eyebrows raised. The bar was silent as the man gulped and backed away from the counter, running out of the door like a chicken. Y/N stared at the floor.
"Hey."
She looked up and audibly gulped again, wincing in embarrassment when she realized that he had to know how scared she was. "Mr Barnes," she greeted, though it came out more like a squeak as her voice cracked. Please, go away, don't stand so close to me, I can't take it, go away, she kept muttering in her head.
"You okay?" he asked gently, not wanting the poor woman to collapse from anxiety. Some sadistic part of him liked it that she was so afraid of him, but mostly, he just wanted to make her feel comfortable. "Yeah." Y/N relaxed a bit at his question when she realized he wasn't going to hurt or fire her.
"Good." Then he walked away like he hadn't just set Y/N's entire body on fire by talking to her. As he sat back down on his seat, he inwardly cursed himself for not asking her her name. I don't even know the name of the woman I have fallen head over heels for, nice going Barnes! Gah! He ran a hand through his hair, glaring at nothing in particular.
He stayed until it was closing time, and found out something so incredible that his heart soared at the information. Y/N was the only employee who stayed until closing time. Y/N groaned loudly in the seemingly empty bar as she swept the place, not noticing the mobster boss sitting in the dark corner, watching her.
"Fuck you, Y/N. Fuck. You. Literally. What was the fucking reason?!" Y/N grumbled to herself, her voice reverberating off the walls in the empty place. "He was just checking up on you. Why the fuck did you treat him like he was the monster?! You dumbass. Ugh, I'm gonna have to make it up to him; what if he fires me?!" Y/N couldn't help the tears.
"He checked up on you and no thank you. What an ungrateful little bitch you are, you… you fucking idiot," Y/N continued speaking through the tears. "Maybe a free drink when he comes back tomorrow? Hah, as if, he owns the fucking bar. What should I do? Sleep with him? As if. Fuck. Shit."
"How about we start by washing your mouth with a soapbar, doll?"
Y/N froze when she heard him. Oh God, he was still here. "M-Mr Barnes?" she stammered, turning towards the voice. Bucky got up from his seat and strode towards her, making sure to keep some distance between them as he stopped in front of her. "Do you always ramble to yourself while you work?" he questioned amusedly.
When she had started rambling, he was confused. Who was she talking about? Then, he connected the dots. At first he was a bit amused but as her speech continued, he couldn't take it. How can someone degrade themselves so much? Y/N couldn't answer him, her vocal cords tied in a knot in her throat.
"I asked you something, and I'm waiting for an answer." At the authoritative tone she looked up at him, her eyes wide. "I— uh, yeah, it's— it's, um, become a habit," she muttered, breathing heavily. What was he going to do to her? "You shouldn't cuss yourself out so much, doll," he frowned, crossing his arms. And without thinking, she replied, "Sorry."
"That man was clearly bothering you, I did what I had to do. I didn't expect anything in return. Sure, a thank you would've been nice," he teased lightly, "But please, never talk to yourself like that ever again, okay?" His gentleness turned something inside of Y/N and suddenly, she felt relaxed. Like she had known him for years.
"Okay. Oh, and, thank you." She gave him a smile so winsome that all he wanted to do was hold her against him and never let go. "Hold on, maybe there is something you can do." The smile disappeared, replaced by a frown. "What is it?" she asked him, blinking. "Can we talk? Maybe you can tell me about yourself, and I can get to know you better."
So she did. Both of them sat at the bar with Bucky's favorite beer poured in mugs, talking. Y/N told him about how she was a university student, and that she had taken the job because she was in need of money. "You aren't scared? A lot of shit happens here, doll," Bucky commented, sipping his beer. "I don't know… it doesn't faze me as much as it should."
"And me! I'm the most dangerous man in the city and yet, you agreed to sit here with me, alone." At that, a smile bloomed on Y/N's face, the beer getting to her head, loosening her up. She looked away from him, almost shyly. "You saved me today, Mr Barnes. How can I not trust the guy who saved me?" Bucky's heart started hammering in his chest.
"Thank you, Y/N, that means a lot," he spoke sincerely. "You're welcome! So, uh, I actually have to go to uni early tomorrow, so… I'd like to go home, please?" He immediately nodded at her words, helping her off the stool. He even helped her finish her chores before she locked the main door and turned around, smiling at Bucky.
"Well, this is it, I guess. Goodbye, Mr Barnes."
"Let me drop you home, please." And he did, pestering her until she agreed to get in his car. She insisted her apartment building was only a 15-minute walk away from the bar, but he wouldn't listen. "A lot can happen in 15 minutes, doll." And Y/N couldn't help but snort. "That's what she said." Her joke made him laugh so hard that he almost swerved the car into the sidewalk.
As Y/N stared at the laughing man, she felt tingly inside. Her feelings rushed to her; butterflies in her stomach. When they reached home, again, he insisted on dropping her off at her apartment, but Y/N declined. And this time, he didn't fight it. "Goodnight, Mr Barnes," she told him with a sweet smile, leaning in to press a kiss to his cheek.
He had been such a gentleman that day, he deserved it. "Bucky will do, my love. Be safe, okay? We'll meet tomorrow." With that, he drove off.
And for the first time in months, Y/N went to sleep happy, giddy and absolutely satisfied.
So did Bucky.
---
After that one incident in the bar, Y/N and Bucky became close. When he was at the bar, Y/N was the center of his attention. He was the one who now sat in front of her, talking to her about his day and asking her about hers. "Tell me about your uni, doll," or, "Do you know what they did to me today? Ugh! Maniacs!"
Soon, everyone in the bar started giving them space. They knew the two were not sleeping together, but Barnes had, at last, found a female friend. How did they know the two were not sleeping together, you ask? Simple. Y/N still had a boyfriend. An abusive one, so she didn't tell Barnes.
After finding out about the events that had taken place at the bar that day between Y/N and Bucky, her boyfriend had reached new heights of jealousy and insecurity, not hesitating to raise a hand on his own girlfriend as he blatantly accused her of cheating on him with the mobster. It wasn't true by a long shot, and it hurt.
Y/N hadn't told Bucky about her boyfriend, because she knew that if she told him, he'd kill her boyfriend. She was about to break up with him anyway, so getting Bucky involved would only create more problems. A peaceful break up, and it was over. Unfortunately, peace was not involved on the day of the inevitable break up...
Bucky was already at the bar, but was grumpy since Y/N wasn't there. He was so desperate that he had asked one of her friends if she knew where the woman was. But the other woman could only shake her head, indicating that she didn't know. Bucky ran a hand through his hair, his eyes trailing to the door the moment he heard it opening. He froze.
Everybody did.
Y/N was standing there, a very noticeable dark red patch on her white t-shirt. When she noticed that everyone was staring at her, especially Bucky, it made her nervous. Should've stayed at home. For a moment, she actually did consider going back out through the door but Bucky spoke up first. "Y/N, come here. Everyone out, bar's closed."
His tone was something she had never heard before. A mixture of annoyance, hurt, worry, but mostly anger. In another scenario, the scene of all the people scrambling out of the tiny door would've been extremely hilarious. But here, no one was laughing. Y/N stood frozen until the door closed behind her.
"I asked you to come here, doll."
Instinctively, she strode towards him, stopping just a few inches away. He stared down at her, jaw clenched. Being a mobster, he was used to seeing blood and could identify it easily. And it was definitely blood that was covering almost a sixth of Y/N's t-shirt. "Lift your shirt. Take it off, right now," he snarled.
Y/N, not wanting him to take his anger out on her, immediately ripped the t-shirt off of her, standing in front of him in her sports bra, a deep gash just under her left breast. Y/N flinched when his fingers came in contact with her wound and Bucky immediately retracted his arm. "What happened?" His tone changed. Now, it was simply full of hurt.
"He stabbed me." Bucky's hands balled into fists at his side. One name, all he needed her to do was give him a name and the bastard was dead, whether she liked it or not. "Who did?" "My boyfriend." Bucky went rigid at her words. All this time, she was taken? "You have a…?" She shook her head, letting her tears fall free. "Not anymore." That reassured him.
"I decided to break up with him today. Decided to do it before my shift here, so my job could distract me. He… he didn't like it. And he…" Y/N choked out through the tears. Bucky's body was boiling with anger. "Tell me his name right now." Y/N started feeling light-headed. "Bucky…" she whispered feebly, swaying on her spot. And he cursed loudly when she fell forward, unconscious.
He carried her out of the bar, put her in his car and drove above the speed limit to his place. He had a private infirmary at his mansion, where he knew Y/N would be the safest. Once he was home, not caring that his expensive suit was getting ruined by blood, he ran to the infirmary, Y/N in his arms. The doctors took her in for an operation and they had to admit—
They had never seen the mobster look so scared.
After he was sure Y/N was in good hands, Bucky went to the sitting room, where his friend, Sam, sat. "Pull out everything you can get on Y/N. Check everything. Social media— I need the name of her ex boyfriend." Sam got to work instantly, not wanting to aggravate the man. Turns out, he didn't have to search for long. "[Name]."
Sam told Bucky everything he could about the man. By the end, Bucky was seething. "Send some men over. Finish him." Again, Sam agreed without argument, rushing out of the room. And so, Bucky waited. He sat in the spacious sitting room all alone, holding his head in his hands, trying his best not to tear up.
---
"Bucky?"
It had been 6 hours since he brought her to his place. He startled and turned around to see Y/N standing at the door, leaning against it for support. This time, he did tear up and not caring about his dignity, he ran forward and pulled her into his arms, burying his face in her neck, sobbing like a little child. "Bucky, I'm fine, I really am," Y/N insisted in vain.
"I almost lost you today," Bucky sniffled, pulling away from her. She wiped his tears off, giving him a small smile. After spending a lot of time with the man, she had come to realize that he was nothing but a big softie, who put on a façade 24/7. He cared about her like no one else. He was so good to her.
And finally, her feelings were justified.
"You didn't lose me, though. I'm right here," she grinned. Her grin made him smile and he took her face in his hands, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead. "Come here." Both of them walked into the room and he pulled her onto his lap, holding her close, thinking if he let go, she would turn to dust right in front of him.
"How bad is the wound?"
"Not that bad, actually, it was a kitchen knife." He moved to trace the wound through her t-shirt when he noticed it. She wasn't in her t-shirt, she was wearing one of his. This time, he didn't fight the urge. "God, I fucking love you so much, doll." Bucky grabbed her chin, pressing his lips to hers. She didn't fight it either.
"I… I love you too, Bucky."
She buried her face in his neck and he held her close, pressing tiny kisses to her cheek and forehead. "You're finally mine, baby girl. Ever since I saw you at the bar, I was smitten. Do you know what a torture it was for me?" he mumbled against her cheek. "Same. I, um…" He chuckled when he felt her skin warming against him.
"I'm going to treat you like the queen you are, baby."
"Aw, so cheesy. But flattering."
"Also, you're fired."
"Great, you ruined it."
"What? I'm the owner, I hire people. And you don't need the job anymore, you have me. I'll pay the university fees. You don't have to work at that horrible bar anymore."
"Bucky, you own the place."
"Still horrible."
"And also what are you, my sugar daddy?"
"Literally fuck off—"
"You know you love me."
"Fortunately, I do."

Bad To You
Tumblr media
Pairing: Arvin Russell x Reader
Warning: angst, fluff, making out, neck kisses (idk if that needs a warning but ok)
Summary: You have a love-hate relationship with a boy at your school. He seems to only act nice to you when you're mad at him. You can't tell if you want to punch or kiss him.
A/N: Sup Shawty! So I have been listening to the Charlie's Angels soundtrack and got inspiration from the song Bad To You. Hope you like it. Enjoy!
--------------------------🦋--------------------------
"Come on darlin you know you love me" he says with a cocky grin on his face. He then placed his arm around the back of your chair.
"No I don't wanna know why?" Before he could answer you cut him off. "Because you aren't cooperating. I'm trying to help you since you asked for me to tutor you." You say folding your arms across your chest. For the past hour he has been messing around while you have been trying to help him with math.
"I'm sorry darlin I'll stop" he says rubbing your shoulder. This was a daily occurrence. Arvin would tease you or play around making you mad which leads to you yelling at him. Then he'll apologize and hug you like he wasn't just being a idiot. Your not gonna lie you started to like him a little bit, but he still annoyed the heck out of you. You just pushed those thoughts out of your head.
"Thank you now lets finish please" you said picking up your pen to finish working.
"You got it" he says getting to work as well.
As you guys started actually working Arvin would constantly look at you. You thought nothing of it. Once you were finished Arvin drove you home. He always did this because he didn't want you walking home alone at night. He made sure to make one final, stupid, comment before you walkies in your house.
The next day you arrive at school and go to your locker. You see someone standing by it. It was Gene Dinwoodie, he was one of the schools most known bullies. He would always try to hit on you and get you to go out with him. Obviously you declined who would wanna go out with that. God what did he want with you now.
"Hey Princess" he says with a smirk as you walk over to your locker.
"Gene I need to get to my locker, so please move" you say trying to sound confident but it came out a little shaky.
"Not until you agree to go out with me" he says walking closer to you.
"Gene I've already said no" you say griping onto your bag tighter.
"Well I think you were just playing, I mean come on you can't say no to me" he says caressing your arm.
"Gene I said-" you were about to finish but then someone cut you off.
"She said no Dinwoodie" Arvin said walking up to Gene. He looked about ready to hit him.
"Arvin just leave it come on" you said trying to pull Arvin away.
"No! Listen don't talk to her again, she doesn't like you and she never will. No one is ever gonna like you." He says balling his hand up into a fist.
"Arvin let's go" you say still trying to pull him away. He looked at you then nodded. He was ok until Gene had to say something.
"Fine Arvin you can have her, I never wanted that slut anyway" he said turning around and walking. Arvin stops in his tracks. He lets go of your hand and starts walking towards Gene.
"Arvin!" You yell trying to stop him.
Arvin made it to Gene and punched the back of his head causing him to fall down. He then gets on top of him and starts punching him. Gene punches back, of course, and gets Arvin on the ground. Now Arvin is getting punched. He stops punching him and stands up.
Gene walks away with a smirk. You walk over to Arvin and help him up.
"I told you to leave it" you say grabbing his hand and pulling him towards the front of the school.
"I was going to, but when he called you a slut I just lost it." He says rolling his eyes
"Well how did that turn out for you" you say turning around to look at him before you start walking again.
You guys get out side and you pull him over to a picnic table by the doors. You sit him down then pull out a cloth from your bag. You cup his chin with your hand forcing him to look up at you. You wipe a little bit of blood off his nose and then grab his hands. His knuckles were a little bloody so you wiped them to. You then softly smack the top of his head.
"Hey! What was that for" he says smiling a little.
"I told you to walk away, but you didn't and look what happened" you say in a serious tone.
"Look I'm sorry Y/N I just didn't want him to treat you like that" he grabs your hips and start rubbing circles with his thumbs.
"Arvin I could have handled it" you say letting your hand fall onto his shoulders.
"Didn't look like it" he says pulling you closer.
"Arvin! I just don't want you to get hurt like you just did! You don't-" you were about to finish when he pulled you into his lap. Your eyes widened a little.
"Is this ok" he says moving his hands to the small of your back, rubbing it up and down.
"Arvin were in front of school" you say seriously. He just smirks and leans closer to your face.
"Don't care" he says coming even closer.
"Arvin-" you were cut off by Arvin's lips on yours. Your lips moved in sync. It was a passionate kiss. When it started to get heated you pulled away. Arvin pouted a little.
"Why is it that you choose to be sweet when I'm yelling at you or mad at you" you say. It was true, Everytime you got mad at him that was his time to act all cute and sweet.
"Cause your really hot when you yell at me" he says going in for another kiss only for your hand to stop him. He pouted again pulling you even closer by your waist.
"You know you can't just do that right?" You try getting up but he has a firm grip on you.
"Fine. Do you wanna be my girlfriend" he asks looking you in the eyes. He was serious you could tell. You did like him but what if he only treats you good when your bad to him?
"Arvin I don't know..." You looked down. He cups your chin with his hand and pulls you in. This kiss was soft, definitely not as heated as the first. It was kinda like his apology for being an idiot.
"I promise I'll stop being an asshole" he says chuckling at the last part.
"First watch your mouth, Second.........I guess I'll be your girlfriend"
"Yay!" He says like a little kid before kissing you again. It was a quick peck, but then he kissed your cheek, nose, jaw, then your neck. You giggle as he does all of this.
"Arvin, stop" you say laughing while he lays kisses all over your neck.
"But. Your. My. Girl. I. Thought. I. Was. Allowed. To. Kiss. You" he says between kisses.
"I am but once again we're in front of a school" he smiles a little into your neck.
He then stops only to pick you up and start walking towards his truck. He puts you in then goes to the other side.
"There now we're not so...." He kisses you on the lips this time. The kiss quickly turns heated but you pull away before anything can happen.
"Uh Arvin....I don't want to.......you know......it's just I want to wait-" he cups your cheek and looks into your eyes.
"It's ok darlin, we don't have to do anything, I don't want to pressure you. I also don't want you to think I'm with you just for sex, cause I'm not." He then kisses your forehead. You smile rubbing his shoulder.
"Thank you Arvin" you smile going up to kiss his cheek.
Arvin then drives you home and you guys hang out for the rest of the day.
--------------------------🦋--------------------------
It's been two days since you and Arvin got together. He has treated you like the only girl in the world. Last night he left your house early because he had to 'take care of something' you didn't question him though.
You were standing at your locker when all of the sudden you feel a pair of arms wrap around your waist.
"Morning Darlin" Arvin says kissing your neck. You turn around to look at your boyfriend. As soon as you turn around you see cuts all on his face.
"Arvin what happened" you say running your fingers along the cuts.
"Ok don't be mad at me but......let's just say I made sure Dinwoodie never bothers you again" he says pulling you closer.
"Arvin!" You hit his chest and he giggles.
"What I can't have anyone touching my girl....other than me" he says going down and kissing you.
"God Arvin you are such an idiot" you say pulling away. He frowns a little but you put your hand on his cheek.
"But you my idiot" he them smiles and kisses your forehead. He lets go of your waist then grabs your hand. You guys walk to the front of the school. He sits down at the picnic table and pulls you onto his lap.
"This again" you say rolling your eyes.
"Yes I like sitting like this" he says kissing your cheek.
"Ok, ok" you say resting your head in his shoulder. He just rubs his hand up and down your back.
Arvin may be and idiot sometimes but you love him for it. He has a soft spot for you and he knows it. From the beginning he knew he liked you, and that's why he was only good to you when you were bad to him, because he wanted your attention.
(A/N: this was kinda bad but I'm still gonna post it cause I haven't posted in a while so 😗✌️)

Smiles with a Christmas Kiss
Merry Christmas @professorerudite
Summary: Dean and Cas are left behind in the bunker on Christmas Eve. A regular movie day is planned but it slowly becomes a lot more.
It’s Christmas Eve and the bunker was quiet. It was just him and his best friend in this big place, their footsteps echoed the halls like no other time before. When it was just him and Sam the place always felt okay. It was home and it was nice but with Cas - finally human and finally staying - the place felt warm. It was a damn home again.
Jack followed Sam and Eileen on a holiday trip to Ireland. Of course, Dean had to refuse. Thinking of the long plane ride alone was making him feel sick. Though he insisted Cas should tag along with them - go see the world and all that jazz - he didn’t budge. Insisting he just wants to stay in the bunker.
Dean didn’t argue. It was nice not to be alone during the holiday season but at the same time, he hoped Cas didn’t stay behind just for him. Dean would have done what he always did for Christmas. Go to a bar full of lonely people and find someone, or someone’s, to have some fun holiday party on a motel bed.
Well, that’s what he would like to think he would have done, heck maybe a long time ago he would have done just that, but now it’s different. He hasn’t gone to a bar looking to hook up with anyone in years and he wasn’t going to start now. After throwing excuse after excuse at himself about why his libido just went into a downward spiral, fighting God and all that shit really wasn’t a good excuse for him apparently, it all came down to one angel. Well, person now.
“Good morning, Dean.” Cas walked into the kitchen, dragging his bunny slippers across the cold floor and towards the coffee machine.
Dean watched as Cas poured himself a big mug full and then sat across from him on the kitchen table to join him. Dean already had the sugar and creamer on the table, prepared for Cas who always gets up a few minutes after him.
As soon as he took a sip he smiled into his mug and Dean rested his chin on the palm of his hand as he watched. Enjoying the way Cas’s eyes crinkle at the side when he smiled with his eyes closed. He even shivered just a little as the hot drink ran down his body, holding the hot mug in between both his hands and close to his face.
“Morning, Sunshine.” Dean finally tells him as Cas placed his mug down on the table to smile back at him.
He could live like this for the rest of his life. As much as Dean wanted more, he was okay with this. Having Cas like this. Seeing him like this. Shaggy hair that curls up at the tips and stubble that was already too long but must feel so good against Dean’s skin. Cas’s baggy sweatpants that fall too low on his hips and Dean’s old band tees that were exclusively worn for sleep cling to his muscled frame.
Cas was just art that he could enjoy looking at but not touch. At least not the way he dreams to touch.
A happy sigh escapes Cas’s lips as he rolls his shoulders back and reaches for the untouched toast on Dean’s plate. “Merry Christmas Eve by the way.” He took a bite of the toast with butter and then made a face before he reached for the jam. Sweet tooth. He took another bite before he started talking with his mouth full. “I know you don’t celebrate but I still hope we can watch that movie you wanted to show me.”
Dean hummed in response as he sat up straighter, reaching for his coffee to have his hands do something. “We can do that.”
“Which reminds me we also need to go grocery shopping. We’re running low on supplies.”
“Cookies?”
“Exactly.” Cas winked at him.
Dean laughed and it always felt like he was floating when it was Cas who made him laugh. Yeah, he can live like this. If he can have these mornings everyday then he can live with Cas as his friend.
Grocery shopping took a while even though the place was mostly empty. Dean had a list and Cas kept ignoring it to add random junk he wanted to taste. Some of the stuff Dean hasn’t even tasted himself, “Then we can experience it together.” Was all Cas said and Dean couldn’t argue with him on that.
“What do people do on Christmas Eve?” Cas asked when they walked back to the car to load the groceries. “That child looked at us with pity when we told him we didn’t have any plans for today.”
“Dude, how am I supposed to know?”
“You know more than me.”
“The last real Christmas I had - I was three, Cas.” Dean opened the trunk of the Impala to start stuffing the bags. “Plus, I’m pretty sure that I imagine all those happy memories I had with my Mom and Dad.”
“I’m sure some were real, Dean.” Cas placed the last of the bags in the trunk as he looked at him with a small smile. Pity smile. “You’re Mother loved you so I’m sure she would have done her best to give you-”
“Cas,” Dean sighed as he closed the trunk with a loud thud. “I just want to watch some movies and sit on the couch with you and a tray full of nachos. I don’t want to psychoanalyze my childhood.”
“Ah.” Cas nodded, another smile. This one was softer and warmer. A smile that felt reserved for just Dean. Cas’s cheeks were even rosy from the cold wind piercing through their many layers. “Understood. I’ll take the cart back and you start the car then.”
Dean watched Cas walk away, scratching the back of his head when he saw him walk back into the grocery store. He was going to go after him but decided to do what he was told and just start the car. Maybe they needed a quick getaway.
Cas returned a few moments later with nothing in his hands.
“Dude, what the hell?”
Cas just shrugged and put his hands up to the heater. “Thank you for waiting for me.”
That was the only response he knew he was going to get from his angel - oh wow! Not his. Not even a damn angel anymore.
Dean drove them home while Cas turned on the radio. Tapping his fingers on his knee to the beat of the music. Dean wondered how Cas would react if he just reached over and twined their hands together but instead he gripped the steering wheel tighter.
It was already late when Dean called Cas over to watch the movie. He was going to go with Die Hard, his childhood Christmas movie he watched with Dad, but Dean had a feeling that Cas wanted a movie where it was actually about Christmas. So he picked his other childhood Christmas movie. A Christmas Story.
Cas walked in, his blanket already in tow, and took a seat on one end of the couch. Dean sat on the other with the nachos tray right in between them. Cas sat with his legs crossed and tucked into a corner, almost facing Dean, while he reached into the food before the movie even began to play.
“So you watched this as a kid?” Cas said, mouth full and head tilted as Dean settled on his side of the couch.
“Yup.” Was all Dean said as he handed Cas a beer and pressed play.
It was only the first few minutes when Ralph walked in with a full cowboy getup that Cas laughed and when he met Dean’s curious eyes, enjoying every second of that rare laugh. Cas pointed at Ralph and then him. “Dean that’s you.” He laughed harder as soon as the words left his mouth and Dean hit him with a pillow.
The nachos were moved to the table in front of them, where Dean had his feet propped up.
Cas continued to make little comments as the movie went on.
“Ah, reminds me of that whoopee cushion prank you did on me.” Cas noted as he took a sip of beer.
“All of that for a damn tongue on a pole?” Cas sounded so annoyed that Dean spits out his beer laughing.
They somehow moved closer on the couch with every little comment Cas made. From the mention of yellow eyes. To ask what was put in Ralph’s mouth after he said fudge. (“Dude he said fuck.” “So? You say it all the time.” “I’m a grown man.” “Oh. Children can’t say it?”)
As soon as Ralph said son of a bitch Cas was somehow already shoulder to shoulder with Dean. He laughed, his shoulders shaking, before turning to look at Dean with that big smile again. Dean never thought anybody could look as beautiful as Cas did when he grinned at him like that.
“Dean, I told you that’s you.” He smiled and Dean didn’t have it in him to argue, even as a joke. Instead, he nodded, smiling back at Cas, while his grinch heart grew three sizes.
This was supposed to be a safe nonromantic movie but Dean hasn’t watched it in a while. He forgot the ending when the parents sat in the dark, just like they were in now, and enjoyed the snow falling. With only the Christmas lights shining.
A few years ago he wouldn’t have thought it was romantic - there was no kissing or grunting in this scene what so ever- but the soft touches is what he craves now. He was already so close to Cas as it is. Feeling the warmth radiate off his best friend while his blanket was now over both their laps, he doesn’t even remember when that happened.
He was already so close. Dean could turn his head and his nose could be buried in Cas’s hair, the smell of nature still follows Cas around, and he could hold him. Hold him like he has always wanted to hold Cas, with no immediate danger or death hanging over them. He just wanted to hold Cas because he wanted to hold him. No reason.
Cas leaned into him a little more, untucking his feet from underneath him so he could lay them flat on the ground. Dean noticed every fidget of Cas’s fingers and he wondered if Cas was uncomfortable with the closeness but then in a sudden move Cas had an arm around Dean’s shoulders. Cas cleared his throat as he squeezed Dean’s shoulder closer to him - trying to act like this was a normal thing for them- while Dean stared at him with wide eyes.
Dean couldn’t find the words. He wanted to say some dumb joke or push Cas off but he stopped himself. Instead, he relaxed under the touch and leaned into it.
“Oh, um, the movie ended.” Cas cleared his throat while he started to pull his hand away.
“I’ll, um, I’ll just - let me pick another one.” Dean reached for the remote and picked a random movie in the Christmas category and pressed play. Then he leaned back into the couch again and Cas’s arm was around him again.
Dean doesn’t remember how many movies they watched that night or how he ended up falling asleep on a couch too small to hold two grown men. But he didn’t care because now he had Cas’s fingers making small circles on his back and the touch was so gentle.
“Merry Christmas, Dean.” Cas must have known he woke up.
So Dean folded his arms over Cas’s chest and looked down at him. He could feel the dumb smile on his mouth. “Merry Christmas, Cas.”
“I know it’s customary to give gifts now.” Cas started reaching for something on the floor while Dean opened his mouth to argue but Cas looked at him with those just-shut-up-Dean raised eyebrows so he listened. “It’s something small I got at the grocery store so I’m sorry it’s not something you may want but I believe you deserve a Christmas gift, Dean.”
They both sat up when Cas pulled out a small shiny gift bag with a Christmas tree right out front. Dean wondered when Cas even had time to get this or sneak it in as he sat crisscross back on the couch while Cas copied him. Handing over the present with a wry smile.
“I didn’t even get you anything, Cas.” Dean started saying, hesitant to get the present.
Cas shrugged. “You can make it up to me later. Now take it.”
Dean took it and it didn’t even have tissue paper to hide what was inside. Dean laughed as he pulled out a few Reese’s shaped like a Christmas tree, some DVD of a movie he hasn’t even heard of so it must be new, and a gift card for Dominos pizza.
“These are great, Cas.” Dean laughed looking down at his gifts. “Looks like you already planned our next date night.”
“I did?” Cas looked down at his presents before looking back at Dean with wide eyes. “Date night?”
“I mean, only if you want to-”
“I want to!” Cas quickly leaned into Dean’s space again and he probably didn’t mean to lean in so close but Dean was also not thinking as he met him halfway to press their lips together. It was just a quick kiss before they pulled apart.
Dean didn’t say anything as they sat back on their seats. Staring at anything but each other.
Cas cleared his throat. “Was that my Christmas gift?”
Dean chuckled. “Yeah, I’m cheap.”
“Can I have another gift then?” Cas asked, leaning his head down so he could catch Dean’s downward gaze. He was blushing -fuck he was blushing- as he smiled at him again and Dean was taken back to that morning. Where he thought that he could live with just having that smile in his life but now he knows how that smile felt against his own.
Dean only nodded once before Cas fell back into him. Their lips smashing together into a grinning kiss, teeth smacking together, as Dean wrapped his arms around Cas’s waist to pull him closer. Then he pulled away just enough to kiss Cas again, slowly as he took everything in. Cas’s weight on his lap. Cas’s fingers on his face while he held the back of his neck. The soft noises Cas kept making at the back of his throat as they moved against each other that was making Dean crazy.
He can have this. Can have Cas and it was a damn Christmas miracle that Cas was dumb enough to want Dean the same way. And fuck his stubble did feel great against his skin.
“Merry Christmas, Cas.” Dean said when they pulled apart to breathe, their foreheads touching.
Cas grinned, a small laugh shook his body and Dean felt every shake that was in his arms. “Merry Christmas, Dean.”

Traditionally Obscure Chapter 3
Bicker. Bicker. Bicker. Good thing Rosa is an Attorney.
Previous Chapter
Tumblr media
Rosa was typing away on her laptop. The tickle on her mind had been about Vyn all day. She had texted him this morning, and his replies were less eloquent than usual. What the heck? It was such a disturbing divergence from their usual. They had a wonderful companionship.
Luke had even blown a flustered comment or two about how close they both had become. Not surprising. Marius shared it in a way, though he was quite a bit more playful on the aspect. Teasing Rosa that a crush on him wasn’t enough? Did she need to flirt with a professor type too? Both of them drove her batty, but the truth was less sordid. Vyn and her had a shared affinity to learn and experience.
Groaning, she sat back on her sofa and puffed while staring at the ceiling. This was frustrating. Her tea was growing cold, but that mattered less than her dilemma. What would she want to be done if she was in a similar predicament?
Pulling out her phone, Rosa traced his text messages.
Fine. Suitable. Working out intricacies before my departure.
All these messages read like someone in anguished isolation. No, she wasn’t going to allow it. She decided and pressed her phone to her ear. It rang twice, and she heard the connection with loud clarity.
“Rosa,” Vyn sighed.
“When are you leaving?” she sat up and clicked at her laptop.
“Tomorrow morning,” Vyn voiced.
Pulling up flights, she hummed. “What flight is it? I'm buying a ticket right now.”
“Rosa, no, you don’t need to do this,” Vyn’s voice grew more abrasive.
She inhaled. When had Rosa ever opposed him? Never, unless her conviction for her beliefs were summoned. One of them was about never leaving those you care about to fight alone in the darkness.
“Yes, Dr. Richter, I do,” She said in a flat tone. “I’m going to come and support you. I was contemplating how to help you last night and this morning. You’re leaving me little choice with the difficulty you must be going through. Loss and sorrow are not battles we can suffer in silence,” Rosa expressed as she eyed the two flights leaving tomorrow.
He was silent. There was so much to it. Vyn finally cleared his throat and hummed. “Svart is different from Stellis, Rosa. There are things I’m not positive would be a necessary experience for you.”
“Dr. Richter, would you allow me to do this alone if I was in your shoes? If you knew what you know about the hardships you’re about to encounter. I don’t have a summary, but I can read the words below the text in the fine print.”
“I’m not trying to offend you, Rosa. It isn’t that I don’t want your support,” Vyn sighed, and she could hear the shuffling of items through the speaker. “I would prefer it if you didn’t have the exposure to tradition more than the culture of Svart.”
“I’ll get a hotel and spend time learning about the culture,” Rosa smiled. “I just think it’s important to be there when you need someone, Dr. Richter. You’ve never asked, so I want to be sure you never have to.”
“Yes, we could,” he sighed. Concession. “I’ll make arrangements to add your ticket, and we’ll have a few outfits sent to your room before arrival tomorrow.”
“Outfits?”
Vyn cleared his throat. “Rosa, there are a few things that we haven’t talked about.”
“What is it, Dr. Richter?” Rosa questioned.
“How about I explain things on the plane tomorrow?” Vyn responded.
Rosa breathed. Baby steps. “Yes, I can live with that.”
“I’m going to make sure your ticket can have a different departure date should you feel overwhelmed and need to go home,” he said in a softer voice.
“Dr. Richter,” Rosa huffed.
“Please, don’t argue with me. I’m relinquishing plenty with this circumstance,” His tone was firm.
“Okay,” she agreed.
“Pack everything you might need to be comfortable. I will send you over a list of items you may not think you need. I may,” he paused and inhaled. “I may need to stay two weeks depending on my uncle’s last wishes. You do not have to be there for that. I honestly would prefer you to disengage your insistence to come help.”
“Dr. Richter, you are walking into this with someone by yourself. I can’t neglect a friend in need. If I can withstand what I have recently, I’m certain I can withstand your family,” she finished with a trying laugh.
He chuckled, but there was an edge of exasperation. “Rosa, you truly are unique. Promise me one thing.”
“Of course.”
“Do try to remain calm despite what you might hear or witness?” Vyn questioned.
“I will and allow you the space to direct with a culture I might misinterpret,” Rosa voiced as she slumped her shoulders.
Vyn hemmed over the phone and breathed. “I have a few emails you will need to skim over in regards to Svart. I also feel it might be best to meet you early enough to take the taxi from your location. It’s before sunrise that we’ll have to be headed to the airport.”
“Then why don’t you come to stay here?” She offered. That actually left her mouth?
It was so hushed. Rosa thought for a moment the call was disconnected. “No, that won’t be necessary. I want you to enjoy your dinner tonight. I’m truly gratuitous, though I wish you wouldn’t take on this burden.”
“You would,” she reminded him.
“Yes, I would,” he admitted. “I will see you tomorrow morning.”
“Bright and early,” she laughed.
“Certainly. Have a wonderful evening, Rosa.”
Tumblr media
Rosa had situated her black dress twice while waiting for Artem outside. She was early, but it gave her time to review what Vyn had sent her. A history of Svart, a small recount of different nobility of the country, and items she may need. It was a little overwhelming to think she was going to up and go.
“You’re lost in thought,” Artem noted.
She jumped and pulled her phone away from her face. “Oh, yes, sorry. I was just going over a few things.”
Artem opened up the passenger door and nodded. “I read your email. Did he give you clarity on his uncle?”
“Nothing concrete. I didn’t want to press in case the situation is delicate,” Rosa admitted as she sat inside the car.
Artem shut the door and wandered around to the driver’s seat. He climbed inside and buckled before shifting the car. They were on the road before he hummed. “I don’t think you should go.”
She scowled over at him. “That’s what Luke said, and I’ll tell you the same thing I told him. I’m going. He’s going to need support.”
“Then let someone else go. Let a man assist in your stead,” Artem declared.
“A man?” Rosa narrowed her gaze at him. “That’s quite misogynistic of you.”
Artem groaned. “I don’t mean that as insulting to your gender, Rosa. There are implications to a woman traveling to a man’s home country. Especially a country like Svart. Things aren’t always what they seem, and others from that country might take measures of it.”
“Hold on, it seems someone else wants to join the objections,” Rosa’s phone rang, and she breathed while rolling her eyes. “Yes, Marius?” she asked when answering.
“You’re not going,” Marius murmured.
“What is this? Why do all of you think I can’t handle myself? I’ve proven clearly I can,” Rosa puffed.
“You have no idea what upper-class aristocrats are like, Rosa. How someone can be so despicable publicly, and no one bats an eyelash,” Marius mused, and the sound of brushes sliding on canvas followed.
“If you’re worried about me sounding off, I won’t. This isn’t about me. I don’t see any of you offering to go,” Rosa growled.
“Oh, I would, but Vyn would tell me no,” Marius chuckled. “It’s interesting that he is allowing this to go this far. I should call him.”
“Don’t be such a brat,” Rosa grumbled.
“He has a point,” Artem mused.
“We are not having this whole team-up thing. I already agreed to go,” Rosa voiced while scrunching her nose.
Marius hummed, and the swishing of more paint flowed through the speaker. “Alright, then I suppose I’ll book a flight to go as well. There’s only a single board meeting I need to reschedule and a few other items I can handle on the phone instead. I’ll go as your support.”
“My support, Marius? You can’t be serious,” she huffed.
“Luke is busy with a case, and Artem has whatever he does best on his plate, so yes. I’ll go, Missy,” he chuckled.
“That isn’t wholly a terrible idea,” Artem replied.
“I knew you’d agree. The last thing she’s going to need is tabloids hunting down her whereabouts,” Marius voiced.
“This is going to be complex already,” Artem exhaled.
“I’m not sure why you say that,” Rosa swayed her head from side to side.
“Because Vyn’s uncle is the King of Svart, Miss Attorney. You’re walking into a lion’s den without a weapon,” Marius snorted.
“The King. Why didn’t he tell me!” Rosa exclaimed.
Artem cleared his throat. “I imagine it isn’t something he prefers to recollect on, Rosa.”
“Yeah, well, I have something in the morning to handle for work, then I will take a flight out to Svart and meet both of you for dinner,” Marius declared.
Rosa pinched the bridge of her nose and breathed. “Fine. You better tell Vyn you’re coming. I’d much rather him not frustrated at your surprising arrival.”
“Already done. I just texted him,” Marius chuckled.
“Well, fine.”
“It’s a little cute that you fall all over him, Missy, but it would be nice if you did the same for me,” Marius teased.
“Goodbye, Marius,” Rosa groaned and hung up the call.
Artem cleared his throat. “Vyn did ask me to convince you not to go. He called before I came to pick you up for dinner. I know no amount of rational arguing is going to stop you, so I won’t attempt it,” he declared.
“I’m glad you understand,” Rosa responded.
“I do, but he has many reasons, most of which I can only estimate, why he wouldn’t desire you to support him. The task you’re taking on is larger than you perceive.”
“Artem, he’s a human being in need of support. I’m not going to allow a friend of mine to march into darkness without a light,” Rosa said with a tight expression.
He chuckled and exhaled. “No, that’s not your way. Would you mind keeping in contact with me? It does cause me concern that you’re going to be several countries away.”
“I promise, I will. Between them both, I doubt I’ll have anything to fear. Marius will likely bring a whole service staff with him. I can’t even imagine the type of chaos that’s going to bring,” she shook her head.
Artem pulled into the parking lot of the restaurant. “At the least, it will be a decent distraction for the gossip papers.”
“True,” Rosa giggled and rolled her neck. “Was Celestine upset I’m leaving?”
“No, she was frustrated I wouldn’t take time off and go with you. The Andros Case is going to trial this week, and I need to prepare.”
“I always understand, Artem,” Rosa giggled and unbuckled when they were parked. “Let’s have a good evening and enjoy simplicity. Everyone seems to think I won’t be having much of that in the coming week.”
“Likely not,” Artem snorted and opened his car door.
“Well, then I’ll enjoy the dinner and prepare for chaos,” Rosa agreed as she stepped out of the vehicle.
Artem stepped around the car, and Rosa followed suit. They walked in step toward the restaurant, but her mind was wheeling. His uncle, the King of Svart, is dying? This was so much larger than Vyn had revealed. She couldn’t even fathom what was waiting for them in Svart. Good thing she was tenacious and witty, or else this might be a daunting and impossible task to support him through.

Late Night Fights (Barba X Reader)
Note: I'm really bad at summaries so bear with me lol
Summary: Barba has fight with reader and regrets it and tries to drown down his regret with drinks.
----------------------------------------------------
Barba didn't know what to do. After his fight with you, he just needed to get away from all of this. As he walked down the street he thought of you. He wasn't sure why he thought of you. Lately, everything he thought was about you. Maybe it was your smile. Or maybe it was the way you laughed. Or the way you had confidence in every case. Your stubbornness in getting what you thought was best. The way you seemed to stand five feet taller when you were serious. It may even be your e/c eyes that said everything without you having to talk. The way they sparkled and glowed when you were happy. He smiled at himself thinking of you. You were beautiful. Barba shook his head. "I don't deserve her," He thought, "And after tonight she'll probably never come back". Sighing at his thoughts he kept walking down 63rd street until he suddenly stopped in front of a bar. He knew he shouldn't go in but something inside him urged him to go in. Finally, he opened the door and let himself in.
------------------------------------------------    "Bullseye!" Barba exclaimed as he took another swig from his scotch. He was playing darts with the men there betting on who would win and the loser would have to pay their stub.    "Impossible! That's the 3rd one in a row!" One of the men, Bill said.     Barba smiled proudly before saying, "Pay up".    Bill, mad that he had lost, reluctantly gave Barba the cash to pay his drinks.    As Barba got up to get another drink he saw it was no longer light outside. He looked at his watch but was too drunk to tell the time so instead pulled out his phone to look at the time. It was 12:30 pm. He had been at the bar for 6 hours. He needed to get home before he ended up spending the night there. He went towards the counter and called over the bartender.     "Here's my pay," He said tiredly. The bartender took the money and went on his way. Barba knew he should take a cab but it would be a bit hard to find at wee hours of the morning. "Y/n", he thought as he pulled out his phone and called you.     "Hullo?" A tired voice asked.     "Hey, could you come and pick me up at that one bar on 63rd street?" He asked her.      "Barba? What the heck are you...," your voice trailed off for a moment before you said," I'll be there in five minutes," And then hung up. Rafael knew you would get mad at him but that didn't concern him at the time. He sat outside the bar on a bench waiting for you to come. Soon enough after about 5 minutes, a silver Nissan Rogue pulled up in front of him. You saw Barba sitting at the bench and helped him walk to the car. He could hardly stand on his own let alone walk. He was more wasted than anything else in the world. As you both continued your walk to the car Barba all of a sudden put a hand over his mouth. You stepped away from him as he vomited over the street. You both then tied again to walk to the car. Once he was in the car you asked him," Where do you live so I can drop you off?"     Barba stared at you for a moment trying to remember this one simple thing but it was useless trying when he was drunk.     "I don't remember," He said with a hiccup," take me with you". You find Barba's comment amusing and laugh."Very funny Barba but you're drunk"     Rafael was quiet for a moment before saying," I really don't remember Y/n".   You, seeing he wasn't lying, sighed before starting the car and drove towards your apartment on Central Boulevard.     When they got there you helped the still dazed but in better conditions Rafael Barba up to the apartment room. After you opened the door Barba "walked" himself to the couch falling on it heavily while you took off your jacket and shoes. Then you joined him on the couch.   "Rafael I know it may not be the time to discuss this with you but..." Your voice trailed off.     "What is it?" Barba asked knowing you only used his first name if it was something serious.    "After you left, the Chicago DA's office contacted me and offered me a job offer."     Barba all of a sudden becoming somewhat sober enough, asked, "To which you said no right?"     You sighed, "Rafael it's a good offer to me I'd be closer to home."     "But you do fine here and giving up your job here in Manhattan and it wouldn't be a wise decision."     "I know but lately we haven't been getting along and I just don't think it healthy for us to be by each other." You stated quietly.     "You know I didn't mean what I said earlier Y/n? I'm sorry I didn't think about what I was saying" Barba said regretting for the 50th time everything he said to you but this time with more desperation.     You nodded,"I know, but I just think this is a good opportunity that might never come back again."     Rafael looked at you analyzing the possibility of you being anywhere that wasn't with him in the Manhattan DA's office. He didn't want you to go. He wanted you to stay. But not because you was one heck of a good ADA but because he felt something towards you that you needed to know more than ever. Rafael Barba was in love with you F/n L/n. He realized it was a now or never moment and he wasn't going to let you go. You made him get up every morning and go to the office. You were the reason he gave all his effort into every case. You were the person who made him smile and forget about anything else in the world. It was all you. He put his hands on your waist and said quietly, “No Y/n you can’t go because I love you” before pressing his lips on yours. The kiss was soft and gentle. Even though Barba was drunk he knew exactly what he was doing. You pulled away looking away from him. He turned you back to face him. Your lips were trembling but it wasn't because you were scared. It was because you loved him. You loved him so much it was taking every ounce of energy not to leave and instead stay with him forever.   “Barba you should go to sleep it’s getting late,” you say your voice breaking halfway.    “Y/n” he said.    “Rafael” she said quietly.    “Please don't go. I love you more than I have loved anyone else and I will do whatever it takes to make you stay,” he said as he brought you in for another kiss. When they pulled away he saw sadness in you eyes but before he could say or do anything you got up and went to a different room and shut the door behind you. Barba’s mind felt fuzzy and light as he layed down on the couch trying to get comfortable knowing that he needed to get some sleep. But each time he tried to drift his mind went to how sad you looked when you kissed. ------------------------------------------------
“Barba,” you said shaking him awake,” Barba! Wake up!”    “Hm?” he asks sounding tired.    “Get up it’s almost ten o'clock!” you exclaimed.    Barba sat up and stretched. “It’s Saturday.”    You looked at him for what seemed forever before he laughed at you. Your cheeks turned cherry red as you walked to the kitchen embarrassed on the matter of fact that you didn’t know what day you were living in. He followed you into the kitchen.   “It happens to everyone,” he tells you and tries to wrap his arms around from behind you but you don't let him.   “Of course it does,” you responded as you reached for the container of coffee.  “Coffee?” she asked him.   “Sure.”   “Dark or light?”   “Dark” Barba said pausing for a moment,” Are you still going to quit?”  “I um..don't know yet,” you told him dropping some off the coffee on the counter. Both you and he reached for the napkins at the same time causing your hands to brush against each other. He took your hand and look straight into your eyes using his other hand to caress your cheek.   “I love you,” he told you with so much sincerity and gentleness. You looked everywhere but at him. But you knew you loved him. He ran his hand from your cheek to your chin.   “Y/n?” he asked you. You finally looked at him knowing that you simply couldn't fight it off anymore.   "I promise I won't hurt you”, he said quietly. Both of you stared at each other’s eyes for a brief moment before he pulled you towards him and kissed you. It was amazing how one simple thing could cause so many emotions to flood. It was full of love and promise. You both kept kissing each other before Rafael lifted you up and looked at you for what seemed like forever before lightly kissing you on the top of your forehead.  “I’m in love with you F/n M/n L/n and I will do anything to keep you even if it means telling the whole office that I love you at the top of my lungs,” he told you.   You giggled at him. “ I love you too Rafael Barba and I will stay because I love you,” you said before pulling his tie making him jerk forward and placing a kiss on his lips then pushed him away. He laughed at you. You yawned showing how tired you were. You moved your head slightly so that you were facing his chest and snuggled against him. He also yawned so he made his way to your bedroom and saw that you were fast asleep in his arms. He lightly placed you on the bed careful not to wake you. Right when he was about to leave the room he heard a delicate voice from behind him   “Raf,” you said quietly, "Stay”.    He smiled at you, “Are you sure?”  “Yeah hurry up before I change my mind,” you said playfully. Rafael chuckled as he made his way to the bed and you scooted over making space for him to lay next to her. He wrapped his arms around your waist as you snuggled beside him. “I don't deserve her or having her with me now,” he thought as both of your breathings steadied at the same pace. He kissed the top of your forehead before falling into a deep sleep.

“Please y/n,” Midoriya asked in a hushed tone, his beaming smile never breaking. “He’ll listen to you, he always does.”
You let out an exasperated sigh and turned toward the green-haired boy buzzing with excitement. “He does not! Why can’t you just ask, Deku?”
“You know Bakugou won’t listen to him,” Uraraka quickly chimed in, defending Midoriya. “But he seems to like you enough to listen to you-.”
“He listens to Kirishima too, y’know,” you spoke a bit too loud as you cut her off. The thought of Bakugou liking you back made your cheeks grow warm. Sure, you’ve spent plenty of time inside and outside of classes with him, but you had convinced yourself he saw you as nothing but a friend. Heck, even the term friend may be a bit of a stretch.
“Who will listen to me?” Kirishima questioned as he slid into the circle, startling you out of your thoughts.
“Bakugou. Midoriya wants Y/n to ask him to join our class bonding activity. He seems to think if she asks he is more likely to agree.” Tenya eagerly broke down the situation, his tone a bit too loud for the quiet conversation the group held.
Kirishima shrugged and nodded nonchalantly, “he’ll definitely come if you ask. Dude kinda has a soft spot for ya.” His eyes lit up with a mischievous glint as he caught a glimpse at who was entering the room over your shoulder. “Now hurry up and ask so we can leave. Trust me you’ll be fine,” he laughed as he shoved you gently.
You stumbled back a bit, yelping a quiet protest before you crashed into a hard surface. A large hand wrapped around your waist to steady you. “Oi, watch where you’re going, idiot.” The group quickly turned away, acting as if they had no idea what was going on. You felt your body tense up, the butterflies in your stomach set ablaze at the sound of his voice. He must’ve just came in from a workout, the veins in his forearms and tiredness in his voice still prominent. You didn’t have to look at him to know he was wearing his signature black tank. The tank that clung to his chest, leaving little about his muscular stature to the imagination.
“Are you goin’ to move sometime today? I kinda have things to do.”
Mustering all the courage you had, you turned to face him. You had to force your eyes away from the tight black tank clinging to his sculpted chest and up to his fiery eyes. “Aw, I thought you liked holding me,” you teased, batting your eyelashes at him only to receive an eye roll. The hand resting on your waist tightened slightly, almost unnoticeably. You had his complete attention. Well almost, it was hard not to notice and keep an eye out for the idiots pretending to be busy behind you. “C-come to the arcade with me, er, I mean us.” You did a mental facepalm at the slip of your tongue. “Everyone from our class will be there. I thought it’d be fun and Uraraka convinced Tenya it’d be a good class bonding outing for us. But it’s cool if you don’t want to come. I just figured you could hang with Kirishima or make fun of Deku. Or-.”
“Geez, you’ve been hangin’ out with damn Deku too much. Blabbering, like an idiot” despite his somewhat harsh words you couldn’t help but notice the playful smirk on his lips. “Almost like you just like hearing your own voice.”
You rolled your eyes, “I’m not the only one who likes it, hothead. We’re meeting outside in an hour and we’re heading to the nearby arcade together. You better be there or I’ll kick your ass the next time I see you.” You sauntered away towards the elevators, ignoring the streaming profanities being shouted behind you.
 ----
You looked around the group, searching for your favorite blond other than All Might. Just as you were about to give up hope something in the doorway caught your attention.
Bakugou begrudgingly walked through the doors, his hands shoved into his pockets. “Oi, if you bozos don’t hurry up we’ll run outta time,” he shouted as if he had been waiting on everyone the whole time. He glanced at you, slyly taking in your outfit change from earlier, before walking past the group. He’d be lying if he said you weren’t the reason he came. He couldn’t give two shits about ‘class bonding’, but getting to hang with you without having to be the one to ask. Now that, that’s what got him to come.
After a quick walk and train ride-- both of which were full of Mina’s comments about this being the time to act on yours and Uraraka’s crushes-- you all had arrived at a small arcade.
“Okay, but hear me out, guys. All you have to do is invite them to play a game with you. Bing bang, done,”  Mina continued in a whisper as you all poured into the small building.
Jiro caught a glimpse of your expression and quickly chimed in. “One game and Mina has to leave you both alone about it for two weeks.”
You looked over at Uraraka contemplating the offer. “It can’t be that bad right, Y/n,” she finally spoke after a moment. “Not like we have to tell them how we feel,” she seemed to be rationing more to herself than you. “It’ll be just like hanging out at school or in the dorms. No biggie.”
“Yeah, sure, whatever.” You turned to Mina with a pointed finger, “but not a peep after okay?” You relaxed slightly as she made a zipping gesture across her lips.
The two of you separated from the group of girls, all of you scattering about the place. Uraraka had decided to invite Deku to a game of Skeeball. You watched the pair make their way over to the line of machines before deciding to focus on your task.
“Is this what you do at arcades,” Bakugou scoffed as he walked up to you. “In case you didn’t know you’re supposed to play games or something.”
“Then why are you here and not playing,” you shot back. You leaned against the table behind you.
“Playing with you is fun enough for me.” You rolled your eyes in hopes of distracting him from the blush forming in your cheeks.
“Is that the only reason you came?” You took a challenging step toward him with a raised eyebrow. “To play with me? I know it’s not ‘cause you wanna bond with our classmates.” You paused, waiting for him to do something other than stare at you with a frown. “Y’know, some of our classmates seem to think you kinda like me.”
“Who the hell said that?!” Bakugou’s eyes darkened as he scanned the room, glaring at the classmates paying no attention to him. “I’ll beat their ass! I bet it was that damned Deku! Buncha damn idiots.” He continued to mutter under his breath, his focus now on looking around the room for the green-haired boy.
You laughed quietly at his avoidance of the exact answer. He’s cute when he’s all worked up, sparks flickering from his hands. Maybe that’s why you always riled him up, pushing his buttons until you could hear his tough kid act. Knowing when it came to you it was all bark. A smirk played with your lips as they landed on a photo booth. “Cool it sparky, come take pictures with me.”
Bakugou’s lips curled up into a sneer as he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. The annoyance from his earlier outburst still simmered inside of him. You always did that. Got him to explode just so you could sit there with that stupid, beautiful, heart-stopping smile. It drove him crazy.  “Like I’d do something so irritating,” he clicked his tongue. “Who goes to an arcade to take pictures?! Why don’t you ask pretty boy icy hot to take dumbass photos with you?”
“Fine,” you shrugged, calling his bluff. Before he could say another word or make a move you made your way over to Todoroki. You leaned against the claw machine he focused on intently, watching the way your best friend’s brows furrowed in concentration. “Todoroki, can you take pictures with me,” you mused once he finished unsuccessfully. “I have pictures with like everyone else in the class but you.” You shot him your best puppy dog face.
Watching you talk to icy hot made Bakugou’s blood boil. The way you leaned in a bit. Or how you took his hand after he agreed. Your angelic smile. That should be him, but his loud mouth spoke before he could think. He didn’t expect you to actually call his bluff, thinking he could get you to ask just one more time. Not to be a dick, but so he could hear those words fall off your lips. So he could relish in you asking him to do something other than train with him or drag him to class movie nights. As much as he hated that you were making the first move and not him, he hated watching you giggle away with Todoroki more. That’s supposed to be him making you giggle. He’d let you press all of his buttons for just a chance to hear your quiet little giggle.
It didn’t take him long after watching you and Todoroki walk out the booth to make his way over to you. He calloused hand wrapped around yours, tugging you into the booth with him as he grumbled, “come in idiot.” His heart fluttered at the feeling of your soft hand in his. It was different compared to when the two of you trained together. He hadn’t realized how soft you were before, even when you’d come over to cuddle him during movie nights.
“Katsuki,” you chuckled as you let him pull you back into the booth you just stepped out of. You were barely able to wave bye to Todoroki before the curtain closed behind you. “I thought taking pictures at an arcade was stupid.”
“It is.” He plopped himself down on the bench, “but if it’ll make you smile, whatever.” He mumbled the second part of his statement, but the close space ensured you heard it. You smiled shyly, doing everything in your power to pretend you didn’t hear that.
“Damn it’s cramped in here.”
You shrugged and sat beside him, “it was fine when Todoroki and I were in here.”
“Yeah, well, I’m bigger than him.” You let out an amused hum at his claim. It was true, Todoroki had a slimmer frame in comparison, but not enough to back Bakugou’s reasoning. “Come ‘ere.” His usually rough hands gently lifted you off the small bench and onto his lap. “See? More room now.” He moved to the middle of the bench, his hands resting on your hips.
You smirked and wiggled ever so slightly to ‘get comfy’. “Definitely. What was I doing thinking we could fit sitting next to each other,” you scoffed and rolled your eyes. You shifted so he could see the knowing smirk on your lips. “Not like you’re just trying to show up Todoroki or anything.”
Steam was practically fuming out of his ears and you couldn’t tell if it was his typical anger or from embarrassment. “Do you want the damn picture or not,” he barked as he jammed coins into the machine. “Annoying ass.” His grip on your hips tightened slightly, pulling you closer to him. His chest was pushed flush against your back, providing you with a comfortable warmth.
Bakugou’s scowl remained pressed into his face as the countdown for the first picture reached zero. Even now you couldn’t help but think of how handsome his features are. The way his fiery eyes tried so desperately to display their normal anger. The small glimpse of his teeth through his lips. You were infatuated by him, to say the least, which spurred your next actions on.
“Can you smile at least once Katsuki?” You turned your head so that your nose brushed against his jawline. You trailed your nose along his smooth skin up to his cheek while keeping in mind the continuing countdown. 5. “As hot as your scowl is I wanna see you smile.” 4. “Pretty please,” you dragged out the two words the best you could. 3.
The close proximity of you two combined with the feeling of your breath against him drove made his mind hazy. All he could do was watch you through the screen and pray you couldn’t feel the growing bulge in his pants. Or even worse, his ramming heart. 2. His eyes sparkled with excitement despite every attempt he made to stop them. That’s when you struck, your soft lips pressing gently against his cheek. 1.
“What the hell you do that for?” You were sure his bark could be heard across the arcade, but you couldn’t care less. The blush gracing his cheeks was absolutely priceless and you managed to catch it on camera. Your sweet laughter only helped spread the blush onto his ears. “Oi, cut it out!” You threw your head back with laughter, the melodious sound ringing through his ears. “What’s so funny, eh?”
“Y- your face,” you attempted to speak through your fit of giggles. “Didn’t look so tough then. Maybe you are a softie Bakugou.” His name sounded like honey dripping from your lips.
Bakugou rolled his eyes and tried to force another scowl onto his features, but it was no use. Watching you laugh with your entire being made him feel warm, at ease even. There wasn’t anyone or anything else in the world that matter to him right now other than making that sound continue. Your smile and laughter were absolutely contagious. Before he knew it he was laughing along with you. Or at least he was before the flash of the photo booth brought him back to reality.
“Yeah, yeah. Real funny.” He desperately was trying to regain his tough composure before the final countdown finished. His only problem was your dying giggles made it unbelievably difficult. That’s when it hit him, “let’s see how you like it.” His calloused fingers caught your chin, gently turning your head to face him once again. He was hesitant, yet somehow confident at the same time. As if he knew exactly what he wanted, but wanted to make sure you wanted the same. His crimson eyes looked down from your own to your lips, desire clouding his vision.
He had fantasized about kissing you from the first time he fought you during training, but he didn’t think he’d ever actually get the chance. You were the typical nice girl, the girl that everyone in the class got along with. Never one to start any trouble. But when he fought against you he saw an entirely different side. You were snarky the entire time, confidently taunting him. You didn’t even flinch at his outburst or threats, you just threw threats right back at him. That’s what he liked most about you, you weren’t soft like people made you out to be.  Since then he took every chance he had to spend time with you. Every after school training, class required team-ups, and free weekends spent with you and Kirishima only made his desire increase. His fantasies began to take over, filling his mind day and night. And yet, here he was.
“If you’re gonna kiss me then get on with it,” your voice came out as a shaky whisper. His hot breath ghosted your lips which made the butterflies in your stomach dance with anticipation. You lifted your head slightly to let him know you wanted this as much as he did.
That was all he needed for him to roughly crash his lips onto yours. He hungrily leaned into you, desperate to get closer. You bunched up his shirt in your hand in an attempt to pull him closer. He had to keep you close. He needed to prove to himself that all of his fantasies were nonsense. Or maybe it was to prove to himself that this was real. That someone like you would give him the time of day.
The roughness quickly dissolved into a soft yet insatiable hunger. Your lips were so much softer than he imagined, it took everything in him not to melt. Your hands rummaged through his blond hair, tugging whenever you tried to get closer. You were flush up against him yet there was still too much space in between. You needed this just as much as he did. Bakugou’s grip on your hip tightened as if to anchor himself. He furrowed his brows as he deepened the kiss, determined to make this moment last as long as possible. You both could barely breathe, but neither had intentions on breaking. As much as he enjoyed pecking your soft lips, he craved more. His tongue brushed against your bottom lip.
The bright flash quickly reminded you of your surroundings causing you to begrudgingly break the kiss. You kept your eyes closed as you waited for the haze in your mind to clear. “Been hopin’ you’d do that for a while now,” you chuckled, ghosting your lips over his before opening your eyes. You were met with his drunken gaze, his crimson irises undeniably intoxicated by you as they took in every curve of your face.
His chuckle spent shivers down your spine, “all you had to do was ask, idiot.” He growled quietly, pressing a quick kiss to your lips then the crook of your neck.
“Didn’t think you’d be that good.” His eyes darkened at your playful tone. “Or that you’d even have the balls to-.” You were cut off by another kiss, rough enough to shut you up but quick enough to leave you wanting more. He took your bottom lip between his teeth and gently tugged.
Just as he opened his mouth to speak a familiar voice cut in, “anyone in there?” You were greeted by Mina pulling back the curtain, her mischievous grin growing wide at the sight of you two. One look at your swollen lips and Bakugou’s messier than usual hair and she knew automatically, but the pictures would confirm it.
“Mina no-,” you begged as she disappeared back behind the curtain. You jumped out of the booth with Bakugou close behind only to hear Mina’s squeal. The role of photos laid in her hand as she scanned each picture. You could feel your cheeks growing warmer by the second. “Hand ‘em over Mina.” You made a failed attempt to grab the role from her.
“Mind your damn business raccoon eyes,” Bakugou hissed as he snatched both roles out of her hand. You sent him a wide-eyed look. “What? She doesn’t need to see the pictures to know you’re mine.” He carefully shoved the roles into his pockets. His strong arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you close to him. Your back pressed against his chest as he buried his face in the crook of your neck, whispering against your skin.  “You are mine right?”
You ignored Mina’s excited gaze as you turned around to face him. “Duh, dumbass. Took you long enough to realize it.”

You stood appalled at what you just heard. What. The. Fuck. You thought to yourself as you saw Jaehyun driving off to who knows where. He really had the nerve to say that huh?
You stomped to your car and drove off back to your place. You just wanted to be alone, process through everything. Haewon wanted to go shopping but the meeting drained you. You came back home, changed into sweats, laid back in bed, and turned the television on.
It stayed like that for the next two weeks, you woke up, went to work, came back to your apartment, and laid in bed while the tv in the background. After you told Haewon the news, she would usually drop by to give you some positive energy, but she knew that whenever you were going through something hard, you needed to be alone.
One weekend, you heard a knock at your door. You weren’t expecting anyone so you wondered who was at your door. You peeked through the peephole and your eyes widened as you shot away from the door.
What? Nooo, why is he here?? Maybe if I don’t say anything, he’ll think that I’m not home and he’ll leave.
“Y/n, open the door, I know you’re home,” Jaehyun knocked again.
Silence.
“My parents told me to come,” He commented.
You paused a bit before opening the door, “what do you want?” you narrowed your eyes as he walked past you into your apartment, welcoming himself.
“My parents told me to help you pack,” he turned towards you, “we’re moving into the apartment soon.”
There wasn’t a way to run away anymore. This was it. You sighed and told him to follow you to your room. You grabbed the boxes that your mom gave you a few days ago and started putting clothes in them. You gave a box to Jaehyun and told him to start boxing up all the small things. He narrowed his eyes at you, he hated being bossed around, but he knew he had to or you’d snitch on him. The last thing he wanted was to deal with his temperamental father.
The two of you went on throughout the day without speaking to each other, there wasn’t anything to say. He still made you angry by the way he spoke to you outside of your house two weeks ago. Jaehyun was also angry, but it was because he blamed you for everything.
“I’m ordering pizza, you gonna eat?” Jaehyun asked from outside your bedroom.
You looked at your clock and realized that it’s suddenly 7:30, “no I’m okay,” you replied, folding your clothes.
“Suit yourself,” Jaehyun mumbled walking away to your living room.
Soon, the pizza delivery guy came and your apartment smelled so good. You walked to see Jaehyun sitting on the floor, eating a slice as he scrolled through his phone. He seemed to notice you looking.
“I asked if you were hungry and you said you weren’t so…” Jaehyun replied.
“Whatever,” you whispered and sat down across him.
He was in your apartment. Jaehyun didn’t have the right to refuse you anything, no matter if he asked if you wanted to eat before or not.
“What do you think you’re d-” Jaehyun spoke, but you interrupted him with your actions.
You took a slice, instantly taking a bite and savoring it. You were so busy packing the entire day, you forgot to eat. Jaehyun kept his gaze on you as you kept eating, you knew he wasn’t admiring you, he was boring his irritation into you. Sensing it, it made you uncomfortable. You immediately felt small under his dark aura, so after one piece you stood up and walked to your bedroom.
“I’m not hungry anymore, have the rest,” you said, not turning back as you shut the door.
Tumblr media
“Y/n, wake up,” you felt the blankets rip off of you.
“What the heck???” You yelled. You scooted back until your back hit the headrest, “what are you doing?”
“I slept here, you fell asleep on the floor last night, so I put you in bed and slept on the couch.” Jaehyun explained pointing behind him.
He put me in bed? He didn’t-you looked down and saw your clothes from yesterday were still on. You sighed in relief.
“Why didn’t you just go home? This is my apartment and I don’t remember telling you that you could stay,” you retorted.
“What if I wanted to spend some time with my lovely wife?” Jaehyun got on top of your bed and started crawling towards you.
“Fiance.” You corrected him, narrowing your eyes. You were scooting back from his proximity.
Soon, he was in front of your folded legs, “w-what are you doing?” you quietly murmured.
“What do you want me to do?” Jaehyun’s face was inches from yours, you could smell his cologne.
You sat still in your place, as much as you wanted to move, you were paralyzed in the position.
Jaehyun’s arms rose above you, gripping the headrest and trapping you, “maybe I’ll just do whatever I want to do then,” he smirked down at you.
“Get off,” you pushed him away, finally snapped out of whatever trance you were in. You ran to the bathroom to shower and get some air.
Jaehyun sat on the edge of your bed and chuckled to himself. He found a little muse in provoking you. Since you were gone, he couldn’t help but look and walk around your room. He stopped at a drawer of pictures of your childhood pictures. He found amusement in the picture of you crying when you were sitting on Santa's lap when you were a toddler. He walked to the box of pictures and the one that caught his eye was the one of your college graduation. You were holding your diploma proudly and your smile shined brighter than the sun. Jaehyun dropped the picture back into the box, not wanting to see anymore of your pictures before he started to feel any different.
“Hey! Be careful with that, that’s my college graduation picture!” You scolded him as you picked up the frame, checking if there were any cracks.
“Relax princess,” Jaehyun side-eyed you.
Jaehyun watched as you checked the picture frame. You had your towel wrapped around yourself and your wet hair fell onto your shoulders. You smelt like clean cotton and coconut. Jaehyun averted his eyes and walked into the living room.
“I’m heading home, meet me at our new apartment in an hour,” Jaehyun said.
You ignored him as he walked out of your apartment. When you heard him shut the door to your apartment, you sighed and slumped onto the rug. It took awhile for you to finally get up and get yourself dressed.
You walked to the kitchen to make yourself something before you had to leave. As you walked past the living room, you groaned in annoyance, “he didn’t even clean up after himself.”
Of course you cleaned up the mess Jaehyun made. You mumbled to yourself how much of a teenage pig he acted like. He annoyed you so much you just wanted to pull out all of his hair. Once you were done, you made your way to your new shared apartment. Jaehyun was already there, one hand in his pocket, and the other holding onto his phone.
“About time,” he mumbled when you walked up to his side.
You ignored him and walked ahead towards the landlord. Your patience with him was running thin and you didn’t know if you could survive this with him.
“Hello, you must be y/n and Jaehyun,” he greeted.
“Hi,” you shortly greeted back.
The landlord showed the two of you the new apartment. There were two bedrooms across from each other and two bathrooms. Both of the bedrooms were upstairs, the master bedroom taking up one bathroom while the other remained as the main one on the main level. Instead of a hallway, there was a platform to walk across to enjoy the view while the staircase sat in the middle.
The windows in the living room and bedrooms stretched from the floor to the ceiling, bringing in natural light. The kitchen and bathrooms were the perfect size for the both of you. As much as you hated to admit it, you were excited to move into the apartment, it was perfect because it met your expectations.
“When is the expected move-in date?” the landlord asked.
“Next weekend,” you replied, checking out the closet.
A while after the landlord left, you stood with your hands shoved in your pockets as you peered out the living room window, admiring the view. Jaehyun walked up beside you in the same stance.
“There’s no way in hell we’re going to be sharing bedrooms. Sharing an apartment with you is already hard enough,” he sighed, not sparing you a glance.
“Glad we could finally agree on something,” you replied.
You no longer wanted to be around him, he drained everything out of you, so you left. When you got to your own place, you fell back onto your bed. As you were going to close your eyes, your mother called.
“Yes, mother?” You greeted.
“Did you go see the apartment with Jaehyun today?” she curiously asked.
“Yeah, I just got back,” you replied.
“Oh great! Did you two like it?”
“Yeah, it’s great mother,” you tiredly replied.
“Take this week off to pack all your things. There’s not a lot to do, so I’ll handle it,” your mother offered.
“Really? No, it’s okay mother I can come in,” you persisted.
“Y/n, don’t worry about it, take care of yourself,” she said caringly.
Tumblr media
You spent the week packing up all your things, Haewon usually came over to help. It was fun when she did, she always brought soju and you two would always look through memory books of you two and laugh. You wouldn’t get any packing done, so you told her to stop bringing soju whenever she came to help. Fortunately for you, Jaehyun never came back to your place.
While you were packing every night, Jaehyun was out partying at Taeyong’s nightclub those nights. It was the same routine, him getting wasted, kissing different girls every night, and Taeyong ending up taking Jaehyun to his home. Since Jaehyun’s place was empty.
“Jae, you can’t keep going on like this, especially when you move in with y/n,” he carried his drunk friend into his place.
“Whatever, I don’t care,” Jaehyun slurred as Taeyong gently laid him down on his bed.
“You really don’t want to move in with her huh?” Taeyong shook his head.
“Nope” Jaehyun responded, popping the last syllable, “I can’t stand her,”
“And why is that?” Taeyong tucked his friend under the covers.
“She bosses me around like she owns the place. I hate those kinds of people. They think the world revolves around them. She probably uses mommy and daddy’s money,” Jaehyun spat.
“And that’s any different from you?” Taeyong laughed at Jaehyun’s unreasonable reasons.
“Yes, I hate my parents and they hate me,” Jaehyun started to cry.
“Okay okay, I think it’s time for you to get to bed,” Taeyong cooed his friend.
“Can you please stay? I might throw up,” Jaehyun wiped the tears that stained his cheek to see his friend nodding.
The next morning, Jaehyun woke up with a throbbing headache. He looked at his phone seeing that he received a text from Taeyong.
[ Tae: I made sure you were okay before I left for work this morning. Take some medicine after you eat something. ]
Jaehyun turned his phone off and stripped down to take a shower. The smell from last night caused him to be nauseous, which resulted in him hurling into the toilet. He flushed the sight in front of him and rubbed his temple, hoping the headache would dissipate. Today was the day the two of you would be moving in together and he wasn’t ready for it. He wasn’t ready to share his space and time, he was going to go insane.
As soon as he got out of the shower, he received an angry voice message from his father, “you fool, where are you? Get over here right now!!”
Jaehyun frustratedly sighed, he held a complicated relationship with him. Sure, his father was respectful in public and to others, but it was all part of a show. His father was ruthless to Jaehyun, he was lucky that his mother was treated somewhat decently. Nights when Jaehyun’s dad came back wasted, were the worst. He would thrash his anger on Jaehyun, leaving physical and mental scars.
Jaehyun knew what his father meant when he called. Jaehyun was supposed to be at the new apartment this morning, but instead, he woke up at noon with a hangover. He locked the door to Taeyong’s apartment and took a cab to his new apartment. From the looks of it, you were already there, your parents were there, and so were his.
You saw him walk through the door with his head hung low, his eyes were puffy and his face was swollen like before when he and his parents were at your parents place.
“Jae, you’re here,” his mother walked up to him.
“Yeah,” Jaehyun softly spoke.
“Well it’s about time,” Mr. Jung looked at his son’s appearance, sighing in what sounded like disappointment , “we were just discussing the rooms.”
“Yes, I think it’s best if you two share the bed,” your mom commented.
“Mother,” your tone signified that you wanted her to stop.
“Just- just hear us out. We want you guys to just get comfortable with each other,” she finished.
You paused for a bit before bluntly replying, “fine.”
Once your parents left along with Jaehyun's, it was now the two of you. You looked out the window of your living room, looking down at little specks of people below you. You would do anything to be them. You would do anything to be out of this position and to be in the apartment stuck with him.
“There’s no way we’re sharing rooms,” Jaehyun said behind you.
“I know, I only said it because I wanted them to stop talking about it,” you said sipping onto the glass of wine you held.
“Movers will be here tomorrow to bring my bed in. You can sleep on the couch,” Jaehyun said. He turned around and headed up to the master bedroom and shut the door behind him.
You narrowed your eyes as you watched him go up to the master bedroom. What a gentleman. You scoffed.
It was 6pm and he still had not come out. As you sat on the couch, watching whatever was playing on the screen, you held your nth glass of wine. You paid no attention to it because you were too busy engulfed in your feelings. The anger you held was engulfing you, angry at yourself, at him, you couldn’t stand him. How were you supposed to marry him?
Your intoxication took over your actions as you saw him finally walk out the master bedroom. You walked up to him and grabbed his arm, turning him around.
“You’re sleeping on the couch tonight, not me,” you bored your gaze into his.
“Not happening,” he shoved you away and continued making his way to the kitchen. You were losing your cool so you followed him into the kitchen. You felt like a hot-headed teenager.
Like a child, you shouted, “suck my dick, Jung Jae-”
Before you could finish your sentence, he swiftly managed to turn around and backed you against the kitchen counter, trapping you underneath him. You immediately regretted your choice of words.
“Why don’t you?” Jaehyun smirked down at you.
What the hell? Enraged with his response, you didn’t notice it when the swing of your hand met his cheek. Your eyes widen in shock, scared of what his reaction would be.
Jaehyun chuckled then narrowed his eyes at you, “don’t you ever...EVER fucking touch me again.” his voice boomed at you.
You twitched when he shouted at you. You could only calm down when he turned around to make his food. That’s when you thought of the perfect idea. He never turned back to face you, so you made a run for it. You quietly ran up to the second level and into the master bedroom and shut the door behind you, locking it.
Jaehyun seemed to have heard you shut the door, so he ran up too.
“Y/n, open the damn door!!” Jaehyun pounded on the door.
You ignored his yelling for the next couple of minutes. His string of sentences were stained with curses and names that would usually tear your sober-self down. Throughout the next hour or two, you stood before the door as you heard him trying to pick the lock. Every time he successfully did, you locked it again.
“Bitch,” you heard Jaehyun mumble before giving up.
“Asshole,” you spat back, his words were hurtful. As immature as it was, you cursed him back.
You hoped that was his last attempt in trying to break in, so you washed yourself up and propped yourself into bed. The sheets smelt like Jaehyun.
How come he smells so good, but his personality is shit? You thought to yourself.
You stared at the ceiling wondering what tomorrow, next week, next month, or the next years would hold for you. At this point, you were crying. You just wanted to be alone, back in your apartment, in your own space of comfort and warmth.
Tumblr media
The next morning, you woke up to the smell of food being made. Curiously, you walked downstairs to see if Jaehyun was cooking. And he was, but you soon found out he only made it for himself once you saw there weren't any leftovers.
“You didn’t think to leave me some?” You whispered, staring at the empty pan.
Jaehyun heard you, he just chose to ignore you. He quickly finished his plate and set it in the sink, walking off.
You knew he was going upstairs, but his movers were coming in with his bed today, so you just shrugged it off, the master bedroom was going to be yours anyways. You managed to make yourself some toast and a side of fruits. You were thankful that both parents bought some food, so you two didn’t have to go out to buy them for the first few days.
You spent the afternoon straightening things up and making minor adjustments to the decoration of the apartment. When you finished, you made your way to the couch to get a headstart on some documents for work. You were so focused that you didn’t even hear the movers coming in.
“I want the master bedroom, can you move the bed that’s already in there to the smaller bedroom? Then set my bed in the master bedroom, I’ll pay you extra,” Jaehyun instructed.
“No, hey!! Leave the bed in the master bedroom, it’ll be easier for them if you just set yours up in the smaller bedroom,” you walked up to Jaehyun.
“No, I’m taking the master bedroom. I already told them I’d pay them extra,” he callously responded.
“Jae-”
“End of discussion,” he interrupted.
“You can’t just shut me up like that! I live here too!” You shouted as he walked away.
Once again, Jaehyun ignored you. You could feel frustration build up inside you. You couldn’t stand being in the same place as him. Everything he said, everything he did infuriated you, so you grabbed your keys and walked out.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Jaehyun voiced behind you.
You were the one to ignore him this time and kept going down the hall, eventually exiting the apartment building. Fuck this. Fuck Jung Jaehyun. Fuck this marriage. You slammed your car door shut and took a deep breath.
You tried calming yourself down, you didn’t want to let him control your emotions. You drove out of the garage and made your way to the pier. You needed to clear your head and that was the one place you could go without anyone bothering you.
The wind took control of your hair as soon as you stepped onto the pier. As you made it to the end, you gazed at the horizon where the sky met the sea. Sighing, you dropped your head into the support of your palms.
“Not the best day, huh?” a voice asked.
“No,” you chuckled.
“This is where I come too,” the voice commented.
You lifted your head and saw a cute boy. He had high cheekbones and big eyes, his black hair danced with the wind as he looked out to the sea.
“Me too,” you responded, “I’m y/n.”
“I know who you are, I’m Mark,” he smiled.
You shot him a curious look.
“You’re the daughter of the CEO who owns Audace,” he smiled, “my dad is the CEO of Lee Technology,” he whispered.
“I’m sorry, I should’ve known,” you apologized, rubbing your forehead.
“No, it’s okay!” he waved his hands in front of his chest, “you looked like you had a lot on your mind.”
“It’s...something like that,”
“Penny for your thoughts?” he carefully asked, “I mean, if you’re okay with it.”
You chuckled at his awkwardness, “I just met you,” you shifted your head to the side.
“That’s okay! We can just watch the sunset from here,” he chuckled before turning his attention back to the horizon.
The two of you sat on the bench and exchanged stories and minor details about yourself. Turns out, you two are the same age. Mark was a little more goofy and usually you would wave it off as immaturity, but for some reason his personality seemed to make you feel a lot better.
Darkness was starting to paint the sky and you figured it was time to probably get back. You exchanged numbers with Mark before getting in your car and driving off. You couldn’t help but laugh when you remembered the things you two talked about.
When you shut the door to your apartment, you walked up to your new room, the smaller bedroom. It was on the other side of the hallway from Jaehyun’s. As you were making your way, you could hear noises coming from Jaehyun’s room. You tiptoed your way closer to his door and stopped when you heard what you heard.
It was his grunts mixed with a woman’s moans. Your breath hitched, wishing you weren’t curious enough to find out.
“Oh shit,” you heard the woman pant.
“You like that? You like that, huh? Like my big cock in your tight pussy, you desperate slut,” he grunted.
You could tell the pace of him pick up when you heard his headboard hit against the wall quickly. You wanted to move, but you couldn’t. You stood your ground until you heard both of them finish.
You could hear the door to his room opening, but you still didn’t move. Jaehyun came out, half dressed, he looked deadpan at you as the woman he just banged yelled after him. You were so shocked at what just happened that you couldn’t comprehend a word she said. Jaehyun walked up to you, drilling his gaze into you. He didn’t say anything, the two of you just stood in front of each other for minutes until he walked past you.
You scoffed in disbelief. It's the second day of moving in and he has already fucked someone. The nerve of this guy. You turned towards your room. Grabbing your pajamas, you made your way to the bathroom. The small bathroom didn’t have a room of its own like the master bedroom, so you had to use the main bathroom. You made sure Jaehyun wasn’t anywhere to be seen before you went.
You quickly showered, letting the hot water trickle down on you, drowning in the heat. You sighed as you quickly dried yourself up and walked back to your room. As you did, Jaehyun and the woman were at round two, or probably round three. You ran into your room, not wanting to hear anything anymore, and slammed it shut.
How can he be so careless? There are probably dozens of people who know him. You two weren’t married, yet, but you were engaged. The media hasn’t published an article yet but as soon as they do, you two will already be married and when women find out that they had hooked up with him, a married man, it’ll reflect horribly on the two of you and your businesses. Especially when you inherit the CEO position of Audace and Jaehyun, Jung Corporation.
No. You thought to yourself. He will ruin this himself. Let him. It’s going to be on him. You had to remind yourself from overthinking. Everything will be fine on your part. You took a deep breath and put on your headphones. You needed to block out the sexual noises somehow.
As you laid in bed, you stared at the ceiling waiting for your body to feel tired. Although, half an hour later, you didn’t feel anything. You picked up your phone and dialed a number. It took two rings before the person on the other line picked up.
“Hello?” his voice was coated with interest, wondering who was calling him this late at night.
“Hey, Mark. It’s me, y/n.”
“Hey, I was wondering when you’d call!” He excitedly said.
You chuckled at his adorable remark. That night, the two of you talked for hours. You two just met earlier today, but you felt like you knew him since you were children.
“It’s getting late, you should go to bed,” Mark yawned.
“Yeah, you’re right. I’ll talk to you later. Night, Mark,” you smiled, hanging up the phone.
Tumblr media
If it wasn’t for Jaehyun’s door shutting, you wouldn’t have woken up. You slipped out of bed to see if it was the woman from last night. As you cracked the door open, you saw her rush out the door with her blond hair falling apart from its bun, her dress halfway zipped, and her heels hanging by her finger.
“You going to stand there all morning?” Jaehyun asked.
“You should’ve kept it down, I heard you two the entire night,” you said.
“We had to block out your laughter last night,” Jaehyun shrugged, making his way downstairs.
You mocked him for his comment. You slammed the door and waited until you heard him go back to his room. You needed to get ready for work, but he was taking his time.
Screw it. You walked out to get yourself ready. As you came downstairs to get breakfast, you could feel him watching you from behind.
“What do you want?” you asked him, without turning around.
“Don’t come back home tonight,” Jaehyun commanded.
“Good luck with that, I live here,” you scoffed at his attempt to boss you around.
“Unless you want to hear-”
“You can’t keep bringing in women every night for pleasure,” you began, “when the media releases the news of us getting married, those women who you’ve screwed will realize that they’ve been banging a married man.”
“Why do you care?” Jaehyun picked at his breakfast.
“Because it reflects badly on us and our businesses could lose millions, Jaehyun,” you replied, you didn’t know how else to respond.
“You sound like my father,” Jaehyun abruptly stood from his chair, “and I hate that you do. So do me a favor, mind your own business and I’ll mind mine.” and with that, he left to go back up to his room.
With your jaw clenched, you slammed the door shut to the shared apartment. Jaehyun made things super hard for you at home, so you hoped that work would be a little easier on you. Turns out, it was going to be a busy week.
“Mother, I thought you said there wasn’t a lot to do,” you dropped your purse. There were so many files piled up on your desk that there wasn’t any room for your hands to type on the computer.
“I’m sorry honey, but those are from this past weekend. We’re launching a new collection and departments solely need your approval,” you mother looked up from the papers in front of you.
You instantly felt bad because she had as many files as you did piled on her desk. There were so many files you didn’t even know where to begin. The Marketing, Finance, Management, Trading, Design Departments all needed the files done as soon as possible.
Throughout the morning, you ended up finishing one pile. You skipped lunch with your mother, so she brought you some sushi when she came back.
“Sweetie, you should take a break,”
“No, the Finance Department team needs the approvals for these accounts, so I have to get it to them as soon as possible,” you huffed, completing the file and opening the next.
Your mother knew how stubborn you were, you got it from her, so she didn’t bother you any longer. You worked and ate simultaneously as you did the files. That’s how the rest of the day went, at the end of your shift you weren’t close to finishing, so you stayed later. You bid your mother goodbye as she told you to give Jaehyun a call to let him know you were going to be late.
“Honestly, he didn’t even want me to come back home tonight,” you said to yourself.
Getting back to work, you knew it was going to be a long night. The Finance Department was demanding, but it was understandable. They were one of the pillars of Audace.
Tumblr media
It was almost 10pm and you weren’t home yet, Jaehyun wondered where you could’ve gone off to, but at the same time he wasn’t that worried because he told you not to come back. Tonight Chaeyoung was coming over again and he wanted to spend more time with her.
He and Chaeyoung went to highschool together. Before Jaehyun started sleeping around in his college years and after, he was loyal and dedicated to his relationship with Chaeyoung. She came from a rich family who owned an automobile enterprise, but that’s not the path she wanted to take. He fell in love with her the way she fell in love with fashion designing. Jaehyun fell in love with her because she was different from all the other girls his parents forced him to meet. She was like the fresh air on a spring day.
Their relationship ended when the two graduated, they both went their separate ways. Jaehyun went to business school, while Chaeyoung moved to the states for fashion design. After years of studying, Chaeyoung finally came back and reached out to Jaehyun. She looked different, but still beautiful in Jaehyun’s eyes. Her hair was dyed blond and her face matured.
That was last night you came back from the pier, Chaeyoung was over while you were just coming back. He cursed himself when he saw you standing out his door, he swore to himself to make sure it never happened again. That’s why he told you not to come back, so he was slightly hoping just this once, you’d listen to him.
Back at your office, you finished with the Finance Department and managed to start on the Marketing’s files. You packed your bags and headed towards the elevators with the Finance Department’s files.
After you dropped off the files, you sat in your car contemplating if you should go to the apartment or listen to Jaehyun and go somewhere else.
“I’m going home, I live there too,” you mumbled to yourself driving off.
You managed to make it back quietly, while Jaehyun and whoever was in there with him were doing their business, you stepped into your room and fell on top of your bed. You were way too tired to get undressed and shower, you figured you could just do that early in the morning before they both wake up.
And that’s how it went throughout the week, you came home late and left early, managing to avoid Jaehyun. You didn’t know if it was the same girl or different ones every night, but either way, you avoided her too.
It was finally Friday and you had one last department to finish. The Designing Department’s files weren’t as heavy loaded as the other departments, so you knew you would finish early and get to go home.
You sat at your desk, looking through the designs of each set of the portfolio. You were so focused that you didn’t even hear your phone go off.
“Hey Haewon,” you supported your phone between your shoulder and head.
“It’s Friday! Let’s go to the club!!” She excitedly yelled through the phone.
“I...I don’t know,” you sighed, you were pretty burnt out.
“But y/n” she whined, “people are talking about the hottest club in town, we have to go!!” she said through the phone.
Haewon was always the party goer. You liked to party too, but most of the time you put your priorities above that. Her personality balanced your friendship, that’s how it’s lasted so long.
“Okay, fine.”
“Great! You can bring that Mark boy you’ve been talking about too!” Haewon laughed as she hung up.
You thought about it for a bit, I guess it has been awhile since I’ve seen or talked to him. You gave him a quick call asking if he was busy tonight and turns out he wasn’t.
With a smile walked to drop off the Designing Department’s files. Mark was coming to the club with you and Haewon, he was going to bring a couple of friends. You felt like a teenager again with a crush on him.
This isn’t wrong though...right? You contemplated. Jaehyun’s hooking up with girls anyways...you brushed off the thought knowing it’d ruin your mood.
“Good afternoon, Ms y/l, what brings you here?” A woman walked up to you.
“I’ve approved the designs on these, so start when you guys can,” you said, handing the girl your files.
You furrowed your eyebrows, you’ve never seen her before so you wondered if she was new. Maybe she’s an intern?
You called yourself off the rest of the day and went to the apartment. You wanted to take a nap, but the moment you stepped in, you saw Jaehyun and wanted to walk out.
Jaehyun was surprised to see you, you’ve avoided him the entire week so he didn’t see you once. He knew you came home after work, he heard you shutting doors and taking showers, but didn’t bother with it. As long as Chaeyoung didn’t see you. Jaehyun saw how worn out you looked and figured it wouldn’t be worth it to pick a fight with you. You two looked at each other without saying anything. You were the first to turn away and walk upstairs.
“I’m not coming home tonight,” you said, not turning your back.
“Me neither,” he replied.
“Where are you going?” curiosity sparked your question.
“None of your business. I didn’t ask you where you were going,” he shrugged.
“Fine,” you whispered and shut the door to your room. You desperately needed to take a nap, you stripped off your clothes before you slipped into bed.
Tumblr media
The sound and vibrations of the club could be felt as Haewon parked the car. There were several people lining up outside of the club and you wondered if this was a newer one. You two walked into the club, VIP because apparently Haewon “had her ways”. You tugged on the tight black dress that hugged your body. Ever since you’ve moved out, you never got a chance to shop so you borrowed whatever Haewon thought looked good on you.
The club was dark, other than the fact that there were blinding colored lights from time to time, and the music pounded through your body. The dance floor was filled with several tipsy individuals who fell into their own lust.
“Hey, isn’t that Mark?” Haewon pointed to a man sitting in one of the booths.
“Yes!” You excitedly walked towards him.
“Hey! You look great!” Mark stood up, offering you to sit, “do you want anything to drink?”
“Um,” you thought for a bit. You did have a long, hard week so you deserved to have fun, “just get me something strong.” you smiled.
Soon, you were tipsy to the point Mark had to slightly support you. You and him were on the dance floor, his arms gripped your waist as your back met his chest. The music moved through Mark’s hands, guiding your hips side to side against him.
“You know, I never told you, but you look really pretty tonight,” Mark whispered closely to your ear.
“Thanks,” you smiled, resting your head back on his shoulder.
Mark could sense that the alcohol was starting to take a toll on you as you shut your eyes, “I’m going to get you some water, meet me at the booth in a bit,” he smiled as he walked away.
“Okay” as soon as you could say that, something caught your attention. Or you could say someone.
“What the hell?”
It was Jaehyun. There was a girl next to him who had her arms wrapped around his, blond, skinny, and tall. From afar, you knew it was the girl from the other night that ran out of your shared place. You didn’t know if you were jealous or it was because you were tipsy, but before you could stop yourself you were already making your way towards him.
Jaehyun could spot you from a mile away, he spotted you on the dance floor and for some reason, he couldn’t rip his gaze from you. He hated to admit it, but you looked beautiful when you weren’t constantly in your work attire. You were the only one who stole his eyes on the dance floor, not because of how you danced, but because of you brightly you smiled. He hasn’t seen you so happy except for when he saw your graduation picture.
That was until you two made eye contact. Jaehyun noticed you coming towards his way, he was in a hurry to walk away, but you were already in front of him before he could. And before he knows it, you were grabbing the collar of his shirt and pressing your lips against his.

Don't You Knock? (Felix Volturi x Reader One-shot)
Summary: Finding out that vampires and soulmates existing in a single day is exhausting, let alone discovering you're the mate of one. The night after the Newborns came to Forks, you get a surprise visitor in the dead of night.
Pairing: Felix x Reader
Word count: 2.8k
A little something I’ve been working on this past week and also to celebrate a wee follower milestone. Come get y’all JUICE, enjoy!
Tumblr media
Slamming the door to your apartment with accidental unnecessary force, you shrug out of your frozen jacket and tossed it to the floor. Today had been eventful, to say the least. It began with helping out your supervisor with paperwork down at the police station and ended with a vampire practically starting a riot over you.
Oh, and vampires exist now. Neat.
You were only a few years older than Chief Swan's daughter and he had asked something rather odd of you a few months back after she returned from disappearing to Italy; "Keep an eye out for her, will ya?"
So, you found a way to insert yourself into Bella's life, like a friend with older sister vibes. She was none the wiser, and so were you in terms of what kind of shit the silly girl had gotten herself into.
Shrugging out of your pants, you let out a content sigh. "Right, relax time," you breathed. No vampires, no pyres of burning bodies. Just me and some pasta.
You were just planning on tailing her and the gaggle of pale friends of hers to see what exactly they were up to. You'd seen them while out on a hike and immediately your suspicion grew when you saw Bella being carried down the hillside by her boyfriend Edward Cullen, accompanied by the largest wolf you'd ever seen.
Following them at a distance, the sight you stumbled across made you let out a very loud "What the fuck is going on here!?"
Bodies burning but with no horrid stench. One of the Cullen boys ripping apart a corpse with his bare hands and tossing it into the pyre. A naked boy on the ground writhing in pain, being lifted and carried off by more shirtless guys and one woman. A teenager curled up into a ball on the ground.
"Y/N what are you doing here?" Bella cried.
"What am I doing here? What the shit are you doing here, what exactly have these people roped you into?" You had snarled the last part, backing away from the two approaching Cullens.
The doctor's wife had whispered a quick explanation to you. They weren't human, but vampires. Vampires existed what the actual heck. Bella was in danger but isn't any more.
And the Volturi, the "vampire police" were arriving soon, and you had no time to leave before they did.
An hour passed and you hummed a song to yourself while you washed up the plates after having a quick dinner. The day had turned to custard and you just wanted to forget about it for a moment and go to bed.
The buzzing of your phone made you jump. Picking it up, you saw the name on the screen and sighed heavily.
Caller ID: Bella
"What now?" You groaned, leaning against the counter. You pressed the answer key and held the phone gingerly up to your ear. "Hello?"
"Y/N, are you home?" came Bella's voice through the speaker. There was a hint of urgency in her tone that had you immediately tense.
"I am, why? Has something happened?"
"Listen to me," she urged, "you need to leave, Alice has a vision that -"
Your brows knitted together in confusion. Bella had given you some information about her boyfriend having some kind of mind reading gift but you didn't realise that extended to the rest of the Cullens being gifted too. "She had a what now?"
A short sigh. "Someone is coming for you! Please just trust me and go!"
Pushing yourself off the counter, you paced in your kitchen. "Who?" you deadpanned, fear growing in your heart.
"Y/N go!"
Suddenly you heard the creak of that one rickety window in your living room shutting. You grabbed the closest thing to you; a pan. "If I don't call you back by tomorrow morning assume the worst," you murmured in a hushed voice before hanging up.
Placing your phone down, you grasped the pan firmly and stalked to the corner leading into the living room. You couldn't hear anything but the sound of a dog barking outside and the steady rain that had begun as you drove home. Taking a deep breath, you rounded the corner and entered the room.
Nothing. No one was in sight.
"You know that pan isn't going to do much," a deep voice commented from behind you.
Yelping in shock and fear, you instinctively turned and swung the pan with just the one hand at whoever it was behind you. An ice-cold hand gripped your wrist, stopping your attack.
The tall intruder raised his eyebrows at your clumsy attack, red eyes boring into your own with intensity. You were caught off guard by how ridiculously handsome, tall and muscular he was, which you knew was probably the last thing you should be thinking about right now. You swung at him with your free hand and he caught that too. Now you were pinned.
"Easy, I mean you no harm," he said firmly, his tone ringing with authority. He began walking forward, still with you firmly in his iron grip making you step backward till your back hit a wall. "If I let you go, will you calm down?"
"You broke into my apartment and you want me to be calm?" you hissed, the last word turning into a screech.
"Please, I -" the man struggled with his words for a moment. "I just want to talk. About what happened today, if you'll give me a chance."
You glared at him for a little. He could end you very quickly if that was what he wanted to do. You knew that after what you saw of him today. He was a killer, through and through.
So, you conceded with a solemn nod.
The man was pleased with your cooperation, releasing your wrists and stepping back away from you. You set your poor choice of a weapon down on a table and leaned against the wall, quickly wiping away a stray tear that began trailing down your cheek before crossing your arms and staring him down with a hard glare.
Red eyes traveled up and down your figure, at first with curiosity that dissolved into something else, something more akin to fleeting lust and you suddenly remembered your lack of pants. "Don't you vampires know how to knock? It would have given me time to make myself more decent."
A low chuckle came from the man. "That would have been a politer choice, but I guess I miscalculated things." With a pause, he added, "not that I'm complaining, it's a nice view."
He winked and you cursed yourself for the impulsive flush of heat to your cheeks. It really should be illegal to be that good looking and that infuriatingly forward.
Padding over to the couch, making sure to have the front of your body facing him and not your rear end, you made yourself at home and placed a blanket over your lower half. Resting your hands in your lap, you sheepishly looked up at him. "I'd feel more comfortable if you sat down."
Moving slowly, you assumed so he wouldn't frighten you, he sat next to you on the couch on the furthest end, giving you some space. "Where would you like me to begin? I'll answer any questions you have if you'll also grant me the same privilege."
You thought for a moment. Many pressing questions came to your mind at once. You weren't sure where to begin. "Okay," you agreed with a heavy exhale. "Well, the first question I have to start with is who are you?"
"Fair," he smiled and again your heart skipped a beat. "My name is Felix, as you know already, I'm a member of the Volturi who are tasked with enforcing the secrecy of our kind."
Your brain took a moment to process the information. "So... you're essentially the vampire police?" you concluded with a raised brow, earning another chuckle from Felix.
"I guess you could say that although we're closer to being a governing force, now let me ask the same of you."
Glancing away briefly, you let your eyes roam around your apartment before meeting his curious red ones again. "My name is Y/N and uh, I work down at the local police station here in Forks - a cadet, got in thanks to my okay-ish GPA." You felt yourself rambling so you quickly shut up before you embarrassed yourself further.
"You don't strike me as a woman who'd aspire to be a cop," he mused, his head cocking to the side.
You shrugged meekly. "Maybe so, but I've always wanted to try making a small difference and I figured why not try and work towards becoming an officer?"
"That's admirable."
Heat flushed to your face. You racked your brain for more questions. "Well, if you're a vampire, how old are you?"
"About 2,000 years old, give or take."
A strangled hysteric laugh caught itself in your throat, making him purse his lips and stare at you like you'd grown another head. "I'm sorry," you said quickly, "it's just... wow that's a... long time to be alive." Taking a moment to compose yourself, you gave him a small smile. "You look amazing for your age, I gotta say."
A grin spread across his handsome face, and again your heart skipped a beat. You couldn't deny he was incredibly handsome - ridiculously so. "Immortality does wonders," he replied with a wink, clearly enjoying making you flustered.
A question popped into your mind at that moment, one that had been plaguing your thoughts since you left that clearing "... What is a mate? Why is it so significant for, your kind?"
You recalled the moment the two of you locked eyes for the first time. You remembered Edward Cullen's hiss of anger and shock and the way this man before you stared at you. It was like he was a deer in headlights and time itself had stopped. The pyre had disappeared, every confusing new thing that had surrounded you in a matter of minutes gone.
In that finite moment, it was just you and this tall strange man who gazed at you like a blind man seeing colour for the first time.
"Straight to the point, aren't you?" He murmured, chuckling to himself. Eyes downcast, he paused to think about how he wanted to answer. "My kind lives for a very long time," he began, lifting his gaze back to you. "Some of us will find another that we connect with so intimately that nothing else compares. A mate is a life partner, someone who feels as if they were made for you."
Resting your chin on your hand, you listened to his explanation earnestly. The idea of soulmates felt like a silly girl's fantasy, but you couldn't help but feel a tug at your heartstrings at his words. "And me?" You asked softly, scooting a little closer to really lock eyes with him. "Edward said I was your mate."
Mate. The term felt so foreign to you, it rolled off your tongue strangely.
With that announcement, the clearing had become chaos. Angry snarls from both Volturi and Cullen alike sounded through the area, you'd been pulled behind a blonde golden-eyed woman.
And many protests.
"Impossible!"
"That's absurd, Felix would never become attached to a human."
The voice of reason had come from Doctor Cullen. "It isn't impossible - look at Edward and Bella. If this is true then it's up to them to decide their fates."
Felix's reaction was the one that stuck out to you the most "You seemed so angry, back in the clearing..."
During the outcry, Felix's face was the one you focused on. After moments of staring at you with thunderstruck wonder in his eyes, he balked and you could have sworn you saw him say "No," to himself, squeezing his eyes shut and pinching the bridge of his nose like he'd suddenly gotten a bad migraine.
He sighed. “It was more shock than anger. Of all the things I had prepared myself for dealing with when we arrived, meeting my mate was not one of them.” Shaking his head, he offered an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry that the way we met wasn’t under better circumstances. Having you see me like that on our first meeting...”
“I wish the circumstances had been better too.”
Another memory flickered in your mind. The young girl on the ground. Her screams as she cried out in pain, Felix stalking toward her with a stoic expression. There was no doubt in your mind that even if this ‘soulmate bond’ thing was true - and a tug at your heartstrings swayed you to believe that maybe it was - the man before you was dangerous.
“You killed that girl,” you stated bluntly.
“I had orders,” he retorted, the stoic mask returning. “I had no choice.”
You were shaking your head before he finished speaking. “That doesn’t mean that what you did was right!” Exasperated, you raised your hands. “Just because someone orders you to do something doesn’t mean that it’s the correct course to take! Don’t you have a mind of your own?”
Felix opened his mouth to say something but quickly closed it, jaw clenched.
Okay, maybe don’t try to aggravate the vampire, Y/N, you cautioned yourself. Hands falling with a slap on your exposed thighs, you sighed. “Shit, I didn’t mean to go off like that.”
Silence followed. You watched him carefully and he watched you, neither making a single move for a while.
“You’re afraid of me.” The words left his lips calmly, not phrased as a question but rather a statement.
Lips parting slightly, you felt your face turn into a grimace. Your emotions were all over the place at this point in time and you didn’t know what to do about it or how to feel. Maybe you were scared of him - he did break into your home after all. And a rational part of your conscious knew that being afraid was probably a good thing. But at the same time? You felt a sense of hope - hope that this whole vampire mate thing may be true and that he really wasn’t here to kill you or worse.
"I guess I can’t blame you for feeling that way,” he sighed. “Do you still want an answer to your original question?”
Biting your tongue for a moment, you nodded. “Yes, tell me.”
“Meeting you was a shock, that is true. It’s just...” A pause for a moment, and in a more gentle voice he spoke once more. “I have been around for a long, long time. Centuries. In that time I thought I wouldn’t ever find my mate as I watched others find theirs - I even became somewhat promiscuous, because if I was never going to find the one, what was the point? Why not fool around with whomever? And then you appear before me and I’m shaken to my core.”
The room was silent save for the frantic beating of your heart, the patter of rainfall and the distant sounds of life around your apartment building.
“I fear I’ve ruined my chances of you accepting me as yours,” Felix confessed.
“I... may be willing to accept you - or at the very least give you, us, a chance. But you must do something for me first if you’re willing?” Is this a bad idea? A great idea? Maybe both, you concluded.
Felix’s eyes narrowed suspiciously. “What do you want me to do?”
You pointed at the door. “Leave my apartment and knock on the door.”
Suspicion turned into amusement. “You want me to leave and then come back in?” he repeated, playful sarcasm in his tone.
You felt your lips twitch up into a smirk. “Yes, that is indeed what I want. If we’re doing this I want to give it a real shot with a proper beginning - no attacking anyone with a pan and preferably with pants on.”
The two of you eyes each other a moment before you broke out into a fit of giggles. Felix shook his head muttering something along the lines of “Strange human” before taking your hand gently in his own, pressing his lips against your knuckles in a feather-light kiss, sending your heart beating overtime. "As you wish."
Letting your hand fall from his grasp he rose to his feet and walked away from you. Opening the door to your apartment wide, Felix faced you and stepped backward with a smirk, closing the door behind him.
When he closed the door, you stood up and rushed to find a pair of pants. Luckily you’d conveniently left some unfolded laundry out in the living room after a late-night trip to the laundromat. Shimmying into some comfy leggings, you murmured to yourself, "Feel free to knock now, big guy."
Not even five seconds later, and there was a short knock at your door. What, they have super hearing too? you chuckled to yourself.
Taking what felt like the millionth deep intake of breath for tonight, you opened the door for your “unexpected” visitor.
Pursing his lips trying not to laugh, Felix nodded in greeting. The man towered over you and for a brief moment, one of his hands running through the dark shaggy locks of hair, you wondered how his head didn’t hit the doorframe. And also how soft his hair was to touch. “Hello, may I come in?”
“Since you’re so polite, of course you may,” you greeted him, stepping back to allow him to enter.
“Does this mean you’ll give this a chance?” he took a hesitant step forward, watching you for any sign of discomfort, “you want to give a future with me a chance?”
You nodded. “It’s not every day a vampire comes to my door asking to be my lover,” you replied teasingly, winking at him as he had done to you earlier in the night. And besides... if you're serious about me being your mate, then I want to give this a go."
An earnest, genuinely happy smile lit up Felix’s face. You’d never seen a more beautiful man in your life. Beaming back at him as he entered your apartment, you knew from this night onward your life would never be the same. Were you ready for that? You weren’t quite sure.
But for now, you were certain in your feelings; if soulmates were real, you’d feel like a fool to pass up your own. Whatever the future held, you’ll face it.
You’ll face it with him.

Of babysitting and (potential) kitchen fires [Chapter two]
Chapter one
Summary: Bow is a great dad and also extremely tired, Catra is officially never getting used to teleporting (and in massive denial about why the cat connected to her feelings is nesting), and Glimmer and Bow have a lot of cuddling to make up for.
[Shameless post season five Adora and Catra both want kids but haven’t talked about it yet-fic that was supposed to be a one shot but isn’t anymore. Starring: the best friend squad, two Glow/Glimbow children, Melog, cuddling, a bit of angst and, of course, the best friend squad teasing each other.]
Disclaimer: This was originally posted on my Ao3, EleenaDume, which I would love to source, but tumblr is driving me insane and apparently one of the reasons why my posts might not show up in the tags could be external links, so I’m trying it again without the link. If you want to check if I’m really the same person, I’ve added this account to my list of other accounts on my Ao3-profile.
Angie was finally asleep, her tiny head of curly brown hair cuddled against her father‘s chest.
Bow was beyond exhausted, but he was happy.
She looked so cute when she was asleep.
...Admittedly, that wasn’t saying much because she was also very cute when she was awake. But he liked seeing her sleeping so peacefully.
His kids were incredible.
He would have been happy just hugging his wife and daughters until the end of time.
Speaking of his wife, he really, really hoped she would be back soon. She’d already been pretty tired before the meeting, and that had started hours ago.
Neither of them had been sleeping much these past weeks, but even though he did his best helping the Queen of Brightmoon with her royal duties, there were things she had to do that he couldn’t – Bow wasn’t a sorcerer, exactly, and Glimmer loved connecting with the people of her kingdom by teaching them magic –, and others that he could have helped her with, but that she didn’t let him do because she was stubborn.
She drove him insane sometimes... but on the other hand, he loved how determined and strong-willed she was, just as much as he loved how giddy with excitement she still got about the simplest of things, even after all this time.
Glimmer was amazing. Sure, she had her flaws – but really, who didn’t. There was nothing Bow would have changed about the woman he loved, even if he could have. And there was nothing better in the galaxy than for your wife to also be your best friend, Bow was certain of that.
He was still contemplating whether or not he should put Angie into her crib because even though he had just spend over an hour trying to get his daughter to sleep, there was a part of him that longed to keep her in his arms just a little longer...
He almost jumped when the entire remaining best friend squad suddenly popped up on the bed behind him completely out of nowhere.
Most of the time, he was used to it and wasn’t startled anymore – Glimmer had been teleporting everywhere from a very early age on, her randomly popping up out of literally nowhere wasn’t exactly new to him –, but he had been so lost in the moment that they had really, really startled him.
“You know, we could have just walked, Sparkles,” Catra groaned.
She had gotten used to a lot of the weirdness since she’d first befriended them, and even learned to enjoy a lot of the weirdness – Melog was amazing and had helped her heal a lot, and the food here was amazing, and she still didn’t know what the heck the waterfall in the room she shared with Adora was for if it wasn’t for showering, but it looked nice, so she wasn’t complaining – but the teleporting was the one thing she would probably never get used to.
It made her dizzy and kind of sick, and she was always completely disoriented after it, even when she knew where they were going and had been there before.
...alright, maybe Adora hugging her and rubbing her back to make her feel better afterwards did make it somewhat bearable, but that was the only thing she liked about it, and it wasn’t like she needed any excuses to touch her wife these days.
She still leaned into the movement, Adora lovingly drawing circles on her back until her queasiness subsided.
“...sorry, I just couldn’t wait to get to bed. It’s been a really long day, and now I just want to get some sleep.“
Glimmer smiled at her sympathetically, then just collapsed backwards onto the mattress.
“Angie is actually asleep for once, so go ahead and sleep, yeah? I can go get her later tonight if she wakes up. You look exhausted.”
Bow sat down next to his wife, gently running his fingers through her hair, still holding their daughter in this other arm.
Glimmer smiled softly, her eyes already halfway closed, then look his hand in hers, squeezing it lovingly.
“You’re incredible, but you need sleep just as much as I do. Luckily for us, Catradora offered to take care of Angie for tonight, so you can just hand her over, and then we can peacefully cuddle for the next five to seven hours, what do you say?”
Catra and Adora both still blushed furiously whenever someone called them that. Scorpia had used it once after seeing them together several years ago, and somehow it had stuck.
“I told you to stop calling us that,” Catra grumbled, head still cradled into Adora’s neck.
Glimmer just grinned.
“Never happening. You two are basically attached by the hip at this point.”
“I think someone is asking for some more of the PDA that annoys her so much the next time we go on a double date,” Adora said, winking, a smug grin spreading all over her face.
“Oh stars I love you so much.”
Catra kissed her wife lovingly, and this time Adora was neither pulling back nor complaining, so either she had decided that the glitter was worth it or the taste was gone. Not that it mattered. Catra was just happy about getting to kiss her again.
“Are you actually going to babysit or are you just going to stay on our bed making out all night? Because if it’s the latter I’d much prefer it if you could just take this back to your own room,” Glimmer commented, giggling wearily as she snuggled into her blanket.
“Yeah, sorry, you’re right, we- we’ll take her and let you two sleep,”
Adora said, once again speaking way too fast.
She gestured at Catra to take the baby, then picked up the crib.
Her wife was sure normal people didn’t just carry around cribs like that, but the child needed to sleep somewhere and it would definitely not be the pillow nest that Melog had built.
Catra kept on telling herself this was just because they missed having a family and wanted one, but at the same time, she knew that wasn’t it.
Of course Melog wanted to have a family, she knew that much from the talks they’d had with each other over the years... but she also knew that Melog knew it was pretty much impossible they ever would.
Which meant Melog nesting actually mirrored something else. Which definitely, definitely meant Catra had been spending too much time with Arrow.
She banned the thought all the way to the back of her head, still not exactly ready to face what she wanted because of all the potential grave mistakes and the memories that came along with it.
...Bow handing her the baby wasn’t exactly helping her forget, though.
He touched his daughter’s face tenderly one more time.
For now, Angie was doing a surprisingly good job at sleeping through their talking. Maybe Catra and Adora would have an easy night with her.
“You’re going to spend the night in your aunts’ room, alright? Your sister loves them, and I’m sure you’ll love them, too. You three haven’t exactly spent a lot of time alone with them yet, but you seem comfortable enough around them to sleep on their room tonight, alright? Mommy and I love you so much, and we‘ll miss you. I hate letting you out of my eyesight, especially now that you’re still so small, but your aunts are great and I would trust them with my life, so there’s no one else in the entire universe that I’d rather leave you with. And if anything goes wrong, mommy and I will be right here, okay?“ He messed up her curls a little when he stroked her head. “See you in the morning, baby girl.”
Glimmer was full on sobbing, damn it, she was too tired to be crying but Bow being so emotional over their kid made her heart melt into a puddle.
Adora had tears in her eyes as well.
Catra was too mesmerized by her niece snuggling into her chest to care about anything else.
“We’ll take good care of her, don’t worry.”
He nodded.
“I know you will. And... thank you.”
Adora smiled.
“Anytime.”
“I can’t believe Adora just kidnapped our bassinet,” Bow chuckled as the door closed behind their two best friends.
“Really? I absolutely can. I mean, this is Adora we’re talking about,” Glimmer commented, giggling.
The lights were off now, a calming dark surrounding them – not that it ever got entirely dark in here with the curtains not fully closed and the light of the moons and the stars shining through the window.
The stars... the thought never failed to amaze Glimmer. The thought that they were the first people on Etheria to see the stars in a thousand years was just... incredible.
“You... might have a point.”
He laughed as he sat down on the bed beside her, the soft mattress immediately giving in under his weight.
“Feels weird, doesn’t it? It’s only been a few weeks, but sleeping without her in the room already feels... off, somehow. It’s so quiet all of a sudden.”
“Yeah.” He laid down beside her, facing her, and took her hands in his. “I miss her.”
“No kidding. Did you have to make me cry?” She cuddled close to him. “I love you. I love you so much.”
“I love you, too.” He smiled at her. “And now I believe we have a couple of weeks worth of sleep and cuddles to make up for.”
“Yeah. And maybe some... other stuff tomorrow, once I’ve slept properly.”
She gave him a quick kiss and smiled at him, clearly moments away from drifting into sleep.
He smiled.
“We’ll do whatever you want, love,“ he whispered, lovingly stroking her hair. “Now let’s get some sleep.”
“Can I be the little spoon tonight?”
“Of course, my Queen.”
He kissed her forehead and pulled her close as she turned her back to him, gently covering both of them with the soft blanket. Glimmer snuggled against him, her head resting against his neck.
She’d always been the most comfortable when she was close to him, although it had taken a while for her to entirely grasp what it was she was feeling.
And just like that, they fell asleep in each other’s arms, and finally got a decent night of sleep for the first time in weeks.

with all my love, summer x
Tumblr media
Jaehyun checks the time on his phone. Eleven twenty-four.
He can’t help but use the remainder of his energy to sigh. Exhausted is an understatement as to how tired he felt. All day he had been working on an assignment one of his professors dumped on his class last minute. And as much as he loves going to university, it’s one of those days where he feels particularly low and ambushed by the universe.
He grudgingly gets himself prepared for bed, dragging his feet along the carpet floor. With another helpless sigh he picks up his toothbrush but immediately halt his slow movements when he hears your distinct ringtone blast from his phone. Jaehyun’s ears perk in attention. He wonders why you were ringing so late in the evening, did something happen? Were you hurt? Where the fuck where you?
His mind urges him to answer quick causing him to drop the toothbrush in the bathroom sink. He couldn’t care about his dirty toothbrush right now. He’s too busy worrying what happened to you.
“Hello?”
“Hey…” you answer hesitantly.
“You okay? What’s up?” he asks in concern.
“Yeah, I’m just-- a little…”
Even without finishing your sentence, he knows exactly how you feel. He is never wrong when it came to his gut instincts. Jaehyun knows that you’re craving  for company tonight but your boyfriend isn’t there to provide it.
“Do you want to go out for a drive?” he interrupts you.
“Hold up-” your voice immediately picking up in tone. “You got your driver's licence and you didn’t tell me!?”
He shyly chuckles. “I’ve been meaning to today, but this bitch of an assignment didn’t let me.”
You laugh loudly on the other side, “I’d love to go on a midnight drive with you Jae.”
He shouldn’t feel butterflies in his stomach when he hears you say that yet he does. His heart is swelling with a good type of emotion for the first time that day. “Get ready, I’ll be at your place in ten.”
“Okay.. See you in a bit.” you say, hanging up the phone.
Jaehyun exhales the breath he didn’t realise is holding. He completely scraps his night routine out the window and proceeds to get dressed for your spontaneous adventure. It would be his first time taking a friend out for a drive since passing the test but since it’s you, it makes a whole difference.
Quickly grabbing his wallet from the top drawer, he quickly makes his way to the car. The winter months were soon approaching with the light winds that blew through his jacket. Being it already past eleven, he takes notice of the amount of cars out. Only a couple every few seconds, unlike during the early hours of the day where they would be bumper to bumper. Once he’s inside the car he connected his phone to the car and blasted some new tunes from Lauv for the short drive to your house.
It’s quite obvious that Jaehyun had only recently got his driver’s license, though he practiced a lot, he’s still unfamiliar with some of the functions the car had. Nonetheless he arrives at your house without a problem. He reaches for his phone by the clutch and calls you. Within three rings, he hears your, “hello?”, his heart rate racing immediately.
“I’m here dummy. Right in front.” he says.
He sees you peek from the living room window to check if he were really there. He chuckles on the mic causing you to laugh lightly.
“Had to make sure, you’ve fooled me too many times Jung.” you reply, strolling to your front door closing it once you’ve stepped outside.
Jaehyun hangs up the phone and watches you walk towards the passenger side of the car. You naturally smile at your friend at the driver’s seat, you couldn’t help but make a comment about how he looked like a grown-up.
“Wow, you really did pass. Congrats friend!”
“Is that all I get? A congrats? No, I’ll treat you to a meal since you’re driving?” he teases.
“Alright fine, since you are driving, I’ll buy us food this once. Where are we going?” you ask curiously.
“Hmm… I’m feeling a little hungry and all I can think of is Mcdonalds at this time. Their chips man, you know how much I love those greasy potato sticks.”
“Oh! Now that you mention it, I’d love to have them too. Go! Go! Go!” you pointed towards the road with a childlike smile.
He couldn’t help it but smile with you. After all the work he’s done for his assignment, you were definitely his happy pill. The highlight of his day- no doubt. You notice the songs he has on in the car and take his phone to play some music that you thought were more suitable for your spontaneous adventure. Though you loved Lauv too, his songs didn’t seem to fit well with the atmosphere at that moment.
“Sure go ahead, take my phone, change the music. It’s not like it’s my car.” he rolled his eyes while he smiles at you.
“Oh shut up, you know I have good taste in music. I love Lauv but listen, there are songs perfect for night drives.” you explain to your friend.
He ponders for a while at your reply, after only a couple of seconds, he begins to nod his head in agreement. “You’re right. But make sure you include that one song of his that’s always good to listen to at night.”
“I know exactly which one, Paris in the Rain?”
“I didn’t even need to give you hints.” he laughs out loud.
“I’ve lost count how many times you’ve said you want to have that song playing in your car while you drive at night. You specifically said night.” emphasising the word to remind him that you know him a little too well.
Jaehyun merely chuckles at your reaction. Any time he’s with you, he becomes soft. His tough exterior is broken down with your presence and he knows exactly why. You have no idea you have his heart in your hands. How could you though? Having a boyfriend erases thoughts that your best friend even has feelings for you.
You both talk about your day like usual, never getting tired of hearing what normal and boring things you did. Jaehyun talks about his frightening driving instructor for his test as well as that last minute assignment his lecturer gave his class a few days ago. You on the other hand couldn’t help but rant about the few small things that bothered you throughout the day, like people walking too slow on the sidewalk or when you notice that people chew with their mouth open.
Jaehyun couldn’t help but laugh loudly at your description of a couple of strangers eating their food at a restaurant you work at. While you on the other hand couldn’t resist laughing along with him. His dimples popped out with his smile and your automatic reaction was to poke it. That caught him off guard causing him to stop but he chuckles instead.
Pulling up to the drive-thru of the Mcdonald’s you googled earlier, he asks you what you’d like to eat.
“Bro, you already know I want nuggets and chips with a whole lot of barbecue sauce.”
“How many nuggets do you want?”
“Maybe… 20?”
“Jeeez 20? Are you sure you can finish that?” he pretends to be surprised.
You hit him on the shoulder, “bitch just get me my nuggets and we won’t have a problem.”
A pleasant chuckle resonates from his mouth and shakes his head accordingly.
Jaehyun orders the food and when its time to pay he looks at you expectantly.
“Oh right, I said I’d treat.” you grin sheepishly.
“Ye-huh,” he nods and takes your debit card from you and handing it to the staff over the window.
You both wait for your food in the following window which comes rather quite quickly and thank the lady as Jaehyun drove off somewhere undetermined. You’re distracted by the food to take notice of where he was driving to, but it didn’t matter because you trusted that he would choose a location you both loved.
There was a viewpoint on top of a hill by the motorway that allowed cars to park and look at the night skyline. It was one of the many places you both talked about driving to years ago and now that one of you finally got their drivers licence, what else is there that could stop you?
As you munch on your third nugget and chips, you look up when he says that you’ve arrived. Your jaw dropped. The nugget you were holding also dropped to the floor of his car and your eyes widened in awe.
“Jae..”
“If I asked you where we should go, you wouldn’t have known so I figured why not here.”
“Damn, this is beautiful.”
Jaehyun was tempted to tell you that you were more beautiful but his heart held him back. You couldn’t peel your eyes away from the view and he couldn’t take his eyes off you. Looking at you and his heart swelling with emotion, it was almost too unbearable. He can’t hold you close. He can’t kiss your forehead and tell you just how much he felt for you.
You turn to him abruptly, making him look at the bags of food he ordered.
“Are we gonna be able to finish all this?” he asks, inspecting each bag.
“Of course we are. If we don’t I can take it home. My boyfriend is getting off work soon and he’s always complaining that he’s hungry after.”
“Right, that’s fine.” in his monotone voice.
You’re unaware of the change in tone but you distract him by shoving a nugget in front of his face, urging him to eat.
His dimple makes another appearance when he smiles and takes the piece from you. You grab his phone once more and play another song that fits the setting.
The night goes on with endless conversations and eventually empty paper bags, once filled with warm treats. You yawn as you look out at the city lights and Jaehyun doesn’t fail to notice your eyelids falling closed slowly.
“Do you want to head back?” he suggests.
“I think that’ll be the best. It’s already-- what? Fuck it’s already four am. I should really head back now. My boyfriend must be wondering where the heck I am.”
“Sure thing. Seatbelt.” he reminds you.
You buckle your seatbelt and he starts the car.
The drive back was quiet and fast. Jaehyun glances at your sleeping figure next to him, fighting the urge to reach out and caress your cheek.
If only he wasn’t driving you back to the apartment you shared with your boyfriend.
If only he can take you back to his house and hold you to sleep.
If only he can kiss you goodnight and wake up next to you.
If only he was able to tell you how much he loves you.

the fall part nine - the truth about magic
basic summary: henrik meets some old friends, a LOT of worldbuilding happens, and the world falls apart
trigger warnings: vomit, kidnapping, violence
tagslist: @synonymsforzombie @spicydanhowell @skyewardlight @dreaming-of-stories-and-stars @cest-mellow
henrik was hurting. his phone was dead. and he had not realized how far away the golf club was.
fuck, maybe he was going to need help.
he wasn't far from one of his coworker's houses, and they were on... decent terms, so henrik figured he'd be able to rest a bit there and maybe ask him for a lift. just the thought spurred him on, giving him the energy to walk just the little bit further to the expensive houses two streets away.
this was one of the much nicer areas of brighton. of course, henrik and his coworker worked as surgeons. that was a high paying job. but henrik lived in a small flat with his brothers (because it was in a safe area to practice magic in, and because staying together had always helped keep anti at bay), and he couldn't help but feel slightly insecure as he limped up to the white doorway surrounded by green shrubs in a well kept garden and rung the bell. christ, even the doorbell sounded posh. henrik winced in pain as he shifted from foot to foot, trying to find a comfortable position to stand in while he waited.
after maybe ten seconds, he heard sounds from the other side. shuffling, footsteps, a loud barking. when the door opened, henrik was immediately greeted by two tiny dogs leaping up his legs, and he cried out, grabbing at the door so his legs wouldn't give out.
"down, bacon, down, hash!" a sharp voice yelled, and henrik's head snapped up from the yipping puppies to the man in the doorway. brown hair shaved at the sides, skin orange from fake tan, wearing plaid pajamas like a cartoon character. nevertheless, he grinned when he saw henrik, bright white teeth practically glowing in his mouth. "schneeplestein!" he boomed, throwing out his arms for a hug that henrik wasn't sure he wanted but felt obliged to accept. "haven't seen you at work in yonks! where've you been, friend? come inside!" he clapped henrik's back, to which he began coughing wildly. the other man didn't appear to notice. "i have another friend inside you may want to see - she also visited unexpectedly, haha! is this a surprise party or something?"
henrik couldn't answer. his head was suddenly spinning, and without warning, he grabbed at the man's shoulder as he collapsed to the floor.
"oh - oh, jeez! schneep, are you alright?" the man asked, yanking him back to his feet. "son of a monkey - what did you do to your leg and your back?"
"parker - don't - i -" henrik ran out of words and simply let parker drag him inside, hardly able to stand up himself. the man rambled on and on as henrik stared, awe struck, at all the intricate decorations and paintings on the walls. "nice place," he managed to say. "it's… changed a bit, since since i was last here."
"it sure has!" parker laughed loudly, guiding him towards what henrik remembered to be the kitchen, if it hadn't been renovated into a ballroom. "me and molly got pay rises, her especially - don't know what i'd do without that woman, by the way - and we redecorated! i like it much better. what do you think, schneep?"
"yeah," henrik agreed weakly. "lovely. also, i've mentioned that i'm not fond of the nickname -"
"and these are our dogs, bacon and hashbrown!" parker interrupted, gesturing towards the fluffy white dogs that were padding behind their owner, tongues hanging out. "very clever names, molly chose them. do you have a cat?"
"my brother has one -"
"ah, so that explains why they're so enthusiastic. they love cat smells. ellie, schneep's here!"
henrik paled as they entered the kitchen and he saw who it was that was sitting at the table.
a woman. long brown hair, a pale, heart shaped face, dark painted lips forming the shape of an "o". henrik didn't blame her; he was doing the same thing. "el - why are you here?"
"i could ask you the same thing," she snapped, scraping her chair back and standing. "nathan, what is henrik doing here?"
parker held up both hands beside his head - not that henrik was looking at him. his eyes were pinned on the furious looking woman at the table, her yellow-brown eyes stormy. she hadn't changed a bit in the six months it had been since he'd last seen her. he wasn't sure what he'd been expecting.
"i didn't invite anyone!" parker cried. "i'm still in my damn nightclothes!"
ellie and henrik simply stared at each other for a long moment, until henrik cried out in sudden pain and grasped one of the kitchen chairs. parker helped him sit, propping his leg up on another chair in front of him.
"what happened?" ellie asked, concern darkening her face despite everything. she shuffled over as parker rolled up his trouser leg, hissing through his teeth in sympathy.
"jeez louise, schneep, these are some bad burns," parker commented. "what the heck did you do? did someone hurt you? should we call a hospital?"
henrik shook his head rapidly. "no, no, no," he babbled desperately. this had so been a bad idea. "i - i need a lift, if that's ok. to the golf club a little ways away. i would have walked, but -"
"oh no, you can't walk like this!" parker exclaimed. "especially not - you could get an infection - what burned you, tell me th-"
he suddenly cut off, eyes glazing over unnaturally. he stood up straight almost robotically before turning and leaving the room. henrik watched him go, confused, before turning to ellie.
"what was that?" he laughed awkwardly, before his face fell. her expression, too, was completely blank for a moment before returning to its previous rage.
"why did you never call?" she asked angrily, as though having forgotten everything they'd just been saying. henrik blinked, wondering how to reply.
"i - well, i…" he trailed off, looking away. "i don't know."
he could feel ellie's eyes on him. the guilt burned underneath his skin.
"six months, henrik," she said softly. "are you that much of a coward? do you always date women then leave them on read for months?"
henrik wanted to argue that he couldn't have left her on read because he'd only ever read her messages from the notification bar, never clicking them, but decided that was maybe a bad thing to bring up at this moment in time. "i didn't mean to," he mumbled. "i got overwhelmed. i'm so sorry, ellie. you deserve better than that."
she paused, staring down. "you're a douchebag," she told her clasped hands.
"i know," henrik agreed miserably. he tapped his fingers on his thighs. "i, uh, hope you have been doing ok. i should have checked up on you. i… haven't exact been very social with anyone recently. things have been happening, which i know is not an excuse for what i did, but… yeah."
she nodded. "i've been doing ok, i guess. nathan's been good to me. he was the only one who kept in touch after i left work."
henrik bobbed his head, guilt eating him up. they sat in awkward silence for a couple minutes until parker came back into the room. "found my keys!" he announced cheerfully, waving them in the air. he had also changed clothes to a pale blue button up and black dress trousers. he looked like he was going to a job interview. "now let's take you…" his blue eyes clouded over again. "where was i taking you?"
"um… hecate golf club." henrik glanced back and forth between parker and ellie, confused. "are you two ok?"
ellie got to her feet suddenly, not looking directly at henrik. "i'll leave too," she said loudly. "i should probably be getting home too. i'll drive myself. thank you, nathan, for your hospitality."
"anytime," he said with a smile. "see you, els. come on, schneeplestein, i gotta get you there before molly gets home. i'm not supposed to leave the dogs home alone for too long."
had they completely forgot about the injuries on his leg and back? henrik stood on shaky legs and limped to the door and outside, where two cars were in the driveway. parker walked over to his car (a mercades benz) and threw open the door casually. "hurry up! i'll get her started, let's just…"
"henrik?" ellie asked quickly, lowering her voice so parker couldn't hear. she turned to face him fully, eyes large. "your whole not talking to me thing… was that because of… the reason i left work? i know people were gossiping, and -"
"mein gott, no!" henrik exclaimed. he shook his head rapidly, rushing to explain. "ellie, i understand - if the whole gossip bullshit is true, then i completely understand. mental health is - it's much more important than work, ok? i get that."
ellie hummed softly, seemingly unconvinced. henrik softened. "perle," he murmured. "did you - did you ever wonder why i took so many breaks from work myself?"
she blinked, but before she could say a word, parker called him over again. "come on, we don't have all day!" he cried, and henrik finally ducked into the car, watching ellie step back.
"i'll call you this time," henrik promised. "i swear."
she said nothing, but the corner of her mouth twitched. henrik sat back in his seat, breathing deeply.
"hecate golf club, here we come," parker told him. henrik craned round to see ellie out the window. she was standing in the driveway still, but she was smiling softly.
-
the drive to hecate was rather awkward, especially given that lucas was their driver.
"are you like, the official chauffeur of hecate?" marvin asked sarcastically from the back seat. chase had called shotgun, and was awkwardly tapping his seat with his nails as lucas drove.
"kinda, actually!" lucas said cheerfully. "my main magic specialty is shields and protection, after all. i make a good chauffer."
"really?" chase said, looking up at lucas with wide eyes. "marvin can do protection spells and stuff, is that what you do?"
"kinda," lucas said again. "marvin here is a very skilled magician - one of the best i've seen. he can probably do the spells better than me, not gonna lie." he laughed, and marvin sunk lower in his seat, glaring out the window and listening to the other two chatter on and on.
he wasn't sure how chase was so calm, given what they'd just heard. everything was falling apart and jackie was partially responsible - marvin refused to believe it. a few people acting odd and a strange magic smell wasn't exactly the end of the world. not only that, but the possibility that henrik could be in danger made marvin feel sick, and anti had fucking drained his phone before he could finish the call. god, he hoped he was ok. "are we nearly there?" marvin interrupted. "i can barely see out the bloody windows, and i'm tired of having anti on my shoulder."
marvin shoved anti off to accentuate his point. anti, half conscious, groaned and weakly batted at marvin's legs before slumping against the car door.
"nearly there, yeah," lucas told him. "miss kamata asked me personally to take you there. it must be big stuff. is it about your brother?"
marvin hesitated. "yeah," he mumbled. "i guess."
when they drove up to the parking lot, chase peered through the window curiously. "so many cars," he noticed. "and people. i thought this wasn't a real golf club?"
"it's not," lucas said, parking the car in an empty space. "a bunch of this is all illusions, to keep up the pretense of this being an active organization. well, it is an active organization, but not… a normal, active golf club. that's it. yeah."
"while do you act as a golf club?" chase asked. "like, out of everything you could choose…"
"because it's easier to hide," lucas said. the car stopped fully, the locks on the doors clicking open. "no one important notices an expensive golfing place. that's why they chose this area to base it in too, i think. not only is this one of the more magical areas of the city, but it's subtle. blends in with all the other rich people shit."
"so some parts of the city are more magical than others?" chase asked. he and lucas stepped out of the car, leaving marvin and anti in the backseat. marvin frowned - chase knew all this stuff, why was he asking?
"yep!" lucas said, flashing chase a grin. "especially in brighton. brighton is one of the more magical places of the world. mostly cause there was a resurgence of magic here in the last few years. no one knows why, but it's good for us. our branch of hecate is pretty powerful, considering."
marvin rolled his eyes. "hey, can someone help with anti, please?" he called. the two men startled, like they'd forgotten he was there.
"oh - oh, shit, sorry!" chase spluttered, turning bright red. he and lucas helped marvin to get anti out the car, and together they dragged him inside.
two magicians were waiting for them at the door. "mcloughlin?" one woman asked, and marvin nodded. anti moaned softly, stirring and attempting to straighten himself.
"miss kamata asked us to take the sick one to our medbay," said a man with purple hair. "she'll speak with him later. you're to come upstairs to her office so she can fill you in on the current situation."
"my brother's coming here," marvin said. "his name is henrik von schneeplestein. looks just like us but - shorter hair than all of us, uh, with a streak of grey. glasses. he's hurt, i think. will you keep a lookout for him?"
the magicians exchanged glances. "we'll see what we can do," the woman told him. she gestured for him to follow. "come on, we'll take you to her."
some other magicians took anti from marvin's arms to help him along to the medbay while they walked through the halls. marvin had seen it all before, but chase was in awe, craning his head back to look. "woah!" he cried, spinning on the spot. "this place is epic!"
"it's under an illusion," the male magician told him. "to all those without magic blood, it's just a normal place. it's a risk to mask it that way, as those with evil intent could theoretically discover us through that, but we have other ways of hiding such things. besides, we help those with magic. do you have magic, young man?"
chase shook his head sadly. "i wish," he said longingly. "i've always wanted to do magic."
"but you can see through our illusions," the woman said, perplexed. "you have magic blood."
"just from my brothers," chase said casually. "marvin does a lot of miscellaneous spells, stuff he discovers, and jackie has photokinesis. henrik can heal minor injuries as well, i'm pretty sure."
"a healer?" the magicians look at each other again. "we don't have many of those. i think your brother could be a useful asset to hecate."
"wait, wait, wait," marvin interrupted. he moved between the magicians and his younger brother, holding his hands up. "you're not here to fucking recruit my brothers, especially not the ones who aren't here." he shot chase a look, and chase shrank under his gaze. "we probably shouldn't talk about that stuff right now anyway."
they continued up the stairs in silence.
"sorry, marvin," chase mumbled to him. "didn't mean to say too much. i'm not used to all this."
marvin just sighed. "don't mention jamie," was all he said in response.
they were taken to kazuki's door and the man went to knock, but the door swung open almost as soon as his knuckles graced the wood. "thank you alana, zack," came kazuki's voice from inside, and the doors quickly shut behind them.
"kazuki," marvin said cooly, standing straight. "explain what's going on, please. what's happening to the people?"
"hello to you too, marvin," kazuki said. she was standing in front of her desk, wearing a red suit with her hair loose around her shoulders. she nodded at the other two men with him. "chase brody. lucas. good to see you two. lucas, thank you for driving them here."
"my pleasure, miss kamata," lucas said with a smile and an awkward hand twirl. "shall i go?"
kazuki considered. "do you wish for him to stay?" she asked. the question was directed at marvin, but chase answered.
"yes, please," he said, giving lucas a smile. lucas smiled back, surprised, and chase turned back to kazuki confidently. "i like this guy."
kazuki's lips upturned, and suddenly the four of them were sitting in an odd circle next to her desk. there were no seats under them, just what felt like solid air. "cool," chase breathed, and he giggled. kazuki tittered softly at his amazed reaction before turning serious again.
"so let's talk about your brother," she started. "we know he stole your magic - the black magic spells you discovered."
"i never performed them," marvin said quickly. "i just found them and never would have -"
"yes, we've been through this," kazuki sighed. she shifted in her invisible air chair, possibly using magic to make it more comfortable. "but here's the thing. we... know of the organization he sold it to."
marvin turned to look at chase and lucas, who both looked surprised. "we do?" lucas said uncertainly.
"let me rephrase that. the higher ups of hecate know," kazuki said. she leaned back onto the desk behind her, blue eyes scrutinizing their reactions. "the leaders of each branch around the world."
"this is a worldwide problem?" marvin said. rage suddenly rose in his chest like boiling water. "why did i never know? i was practically top of hecate when i was with you!"
kazuki raised an eyebrow. "were you?" she said flatly. "even your ex boyfriend was higher ranking than you."
chase piped up while marvin spluttered indignantly. "there are rankings in hecate?"
"in a way," hecate told him. "but that's a conversation for another day. this other organization…" she sighed. "they were once part of hecate."
no one said anything. marvin blinked rapidly, mouth hanging open, but couldn't summon any words. kazuki continued. "hecate was originally a rebel organization founded by british magicians in 1735, when the witchcraft act was passed by parliament. you don't need all the history, though. magic was highly disliked by many back then, is all you need. we named ourselves "restitutio", latin for "restoration." our cause spread. we took in magicians and everyone who did magic and trained them. we hid. but some of us did not want to hide. some of us… turned to darker ways of life."
there was a dramatic pause. chase cleared his throat and opened his mouth, but didn't say anything. lucas sniffed loudly. marvin tapped his foot against the floor.
kazuki twirled her hand absentmindedly. a few trinkets floated off her desk and round her hand. "some of them wanted to fight. didn't want to keep our magic hidden. they… did many horrible things. people died. many of them. this was near the end of the 1700s, and many of the original values of restitutio had been lost." she took a breath, glancing up at her hands. "eventually, we, the hecate side of restitutio, took as much dark magic as we could and the others left. it was more recently that things began to change."
"what was the change?" lucas asked.
"there were a few," kazuki said. "all happening within a few years. first off, we discovered that the darker half of us had been hiding for years, cultivating dark magic by infiltrating our ranks. then, around the same time, magic itself changed. it seemed it learned to hide itself, through a barrier we called the veil."
"i didn't know all this," marvin muttered. then he raised his voice. "is this another thing only higher ups know?"
"you should know about the veil," kazuki said. "it hides our magic from nonmag eyes. it was discovered a few years before the dark organization."
"and.. when were these discovered?" chase said, voice low. he had a strange look on his face, and didn't turn to look at marvin.
"well, the veil was discovered on, i believe, october 10th of 2014," kazuki said, seemingly not noticing how marvin and chase jolted. "and we found the first traces of the black magic on october 31st of 2016. we thought it was a halloween prank of sorts, at first - are you two ok?"
chase shook his head rapidly, bouncing on his air seat and waving his hands, slapping his thighs lightly. "we're fine," he said firmly. "fuck, we're fine - what does jackie have to do with this? where does he tie in?"
kazuki frowned, though didn't comment. "his magic… is unnatural. you say he's a user of photokinesis?" the brothers nodded, and kazuki took a breath. "that's not good. photokinesis is a branch of light magic. whatever magic the organization gave him - i'm sorry for always calling it that, it doesn't have a name that we know of - we don't know what that magic is. it's dark, and it's corrupting him."
"it comes from a necklace," chase said. "does that mean anything?"
kazuki swore under her breath. "it could be… we'll talk about that later. here's the important point."
she leaned forward, eyes cold. "the magic in him is fighting for power. and he clearly has never been trained in controlling either branch of magic. and ever since the explosion in that motel in new romney, the veil has been… breaking."
the silence was deafening. marvin felt like it was crushing him, his breaths coming quicker with the effort of staying upright. "could be a coincidence," he said, but his voice was very small. "it can't be… breaking, what do you mean -"
"the two worlds are trying to collide and for some reason they're physically unable to now," kazuki said. "he's tearing a hole in the veil, in the barrier between magic and… normality, i suppose."
marvin was about to finally say something - he wasn't sure what, just something - when a man burst into the room. zack, the purple haired magician from earlier, was gasping and panting for breath, trying to force out words.
"zack," kazuki said, narrowing her eyes and standing. the air chairs under marvin and the others lifted them up onto their feet and promptly dissolved underneath them. "this better be important."
"it - it is, miss kamata," he wheezed. "we've been breached. one of our own has been taken."
-
it all happened so fast.
parker dropped henrik off at the gates of hecate, not even heading into the car park. "see you soon, schneeplestein! come visit, i'm sure molly would love to see you," he said with a dazed grin, eyes unfocused. henrik stepped out of the car and closed the door, smiling nervously at the doctor's strange expression.
"are you alright, parker?" he asked with a small laugh. "you are acting very strange."
"what? just - just fine!" parker exclaimed. he didn't look at henrik. "go do your… golf. i'll be seeing you."
henrik swallowed, straightening as much as he could with his injured leg. "yes," he mumbled. "i'm sure you will."
parker's grin was far too wide. he turned the car, preparing to drive off down the road, when the car glitched and disappeared.
henrik stood in absolute shook for a moment.
the car glitched. and disappeared. it had glitched in a burst of static and vanished completely, leaving nothing behind. not parker. not anything.
ok, so henrik was hallucinating. the magic aaron had hit him with was making him hallucinate. he blinked and turned away, suddenly aware of his head pounding, feeling slightly sick. there was a strange smell in the air. something wrong. he sniffed, realizing it was a very specific scent. like… smoke. like smoke through an open window.
"henrik?"
he jumped, eyes focusing on the man in front of him. as soon as they did, he soured. "raymond," he said with slight disdain. "fancy seeing you here."
raymond snorted. "i work here, friend," he said, sarcasm in the last word. "what are -" his brown eyes widened as he took in henrik's wounds. "oh, bloody hell!"
henrik grabbed the man's arms for support. "don't feel well," he managed. "ich glaube, ich könnte krank sein…"
he stumbled back and promptly threw up on the concrete. raymond's noises of disgust reached his ears through his retching, and as he wiped his mouth he just managed to decipher "fuck, dude, you got vom on my fuckin' suit!"
"sorry," henrik said weakly. his vision was beginning to blur, blackness creeping into the corners of his eyes. "g'hit… car, it glitch…"
"i am not looking after my ex's sick brother," raymond said disgustedly. he reached up and tapped a device behind his ear. "hey, some guy down here is sick. probably a bad hex or something. i dunno, man, it doesn't look good. physical too. leg, back. should i send him to the medbay?"
the more the man spoke, the dizzier henrik felt. someone else was talking to him. he thought he couldn't hear what they were saying.
" - here, come inside," raymond was saying. "we'll check you over. alana, open the spell for a sec so i can get him in."
henrik passed out then. but later, people filled him in on what had happened.
the spells on the gates to the car park has briefly been lowered to let henrik inside. but the second they were down was all that was needed. two men had burst in, ripping through the air with magic that reeked of smoke and something else, something unplaceable. the attack hadn't even really been an attack; it had lasted maybe a minute. when henrik woke in the medbay, he was informed that raymond had been taken, kidnapped, captured, and that was that.
it all happened so fast. so fast.
not only that, but the magicians didn't know what the magic in henrik's body was. dark stuff, they said. incurable, at least by them, they said. it must have come from the same two men who had broken into hecate, they said. they thought black magic didn't exist anymore, they said.
henrik was numb to it all.
"i'm sorry i wasn't there!" marvin had said when he came to see him, chase and another blonde man in tow. "i tried to contact you, anti drained my phone - henny, i'm so sorry, i shouldn't have left you alone!"
henrik hurt. jackie was truly gone. hecate had been breached. a man had beem captured. henrik didn't say a word.
fuck, it had all happened so fast.
-
"you did it, babe!"
"we did it! fuck, it was far easier than i expected. i can say this now, but i was pretty certain we weren't going to manage it."
jackie laughed at aaron's words, kissing him before drawing back with a grin on his face. "honestly? me neither," he giggled. "but look at what we got! far, far better than i could have hoped - oh, he doesn't like that, does he?"
the man chained to the chair in front of them narrowed his eyes, rage burning in them. jackie bent down in front of him, grinning wide. "been a while since i last saw you, raymond! when was it? god, i can't remember. was it the time that you came round demanding marvin paid back your money? was it the time marvin caught you in bed with some fucking nomag twink and you and him had that screaming match? was it the time we saw you in the street with your new boyfriend and marvin started crying so i nearly hit you?" jackie flicked raymond's nose, still giggling like a child. "god, every day since then i've wished i'd beaten the fucking shit out of you. i used to be disgusted with myself for thinking that kind of stuff too, you know? but now… i think i've embraced it."
he tapped a sleek black dagger on raymond's face, just on top of the gag shoved in his mouth. "you like my knife? my boyfriend got it for me. this is him, by the way. say hi, aaron!"
aaron waved from the corner where he was leaning, resting on a blue baseball bat. raymond's eyes were wild with fear and anger, and he shook his head to try and get the blade away.
"what's that?" jackie said, pretending to listen like a kid playing with a doll. "you want to talk? certainly!" he slashed the knife down the man's face, cutting through the gag but the skin underneath as well. raymond screamed in pain, but cut himself off as quickly as he could, biting down on his lip and panting.
"bitch," raymond spat. "what are you? a demon? what type of magic is this?" blood dribbled down his chin. "and - ha, why did you break in? idiot, i would have left anyway - do you not understand how high security hecate is? you got in, and all you did was, what, knock out your sick brother and kidnap me?"
jackie leaned back, sticking out his lip and looking upset. then his smirk returned like it had never left, and he threw back his head to roar with laughter. aaron giggled from the corner before coming to stand next to his boyfriend.
"oh - oh, raymond, no," jackie giggled, wiping at his eyes. "oh, you think we - you think we just grabbed you and left? nooo, no no no. time is an illusion, my bastard friend!"
"we got so much done!" aaron said joyfully. "all thanks to jackie's wonderful brother -"
"oh, stop it, mo chroí, we couldn't have done anything without your lovely magic!" jackie elbowed aaron and the two dissolved into peals of laughter while raymond watched with a forced neutral expression.
"what do you want with me?" he said, trying to keep his voice flat. "i don't know what information you think i know, but it's nothing good. i'm not as high ranked as you might think, i swear, i -"
"shut up now, ok?" aaron suddenly interrupted. "we were having a moment there and you ruined it. fuck, they're never polite, are they, jackson?"
"i don't know, this is only my second prisoner!" jackie joked. then he rolled his eyes. "and we don't fucking care what rank you are, we just snatched the first guy we saw. it just so happened to be my brother's filthy, cheating whore ex." he leaned forward, right into raymond's face. "you're my ticket to a better life, bitch. look at that. you have a fucking use after all."
jackie turned to aaron, gripping his arm and turning him to face him. "they're really gonna love him, aren't they?" he cooed. "will he be good enough?"
"course he will, babe," aaron said. "he's hecate, he - what does he do, teleport? he teleports. that's interesting, they might like that."
"'they?'" raymond shouted angrily. he struggled against his chains, grunting. "who is 'they?' why can't i teleport? is this - is this about what i did to marvin? i never meant to hurt him!"
without warning, jackie slapped raymond right across the face. "i already fucking told you that it's nothing to do with you," he snapped, dropping the soft tone from before. "i saw you and took you. we kind of had other priorities at that moment. you fucking got it? jesus shit, dude, not everything's about you - although, i know you think it is, huh?" he hit raymond again, sending him reeling. "do you know how many nights i spent holding marvin while he cried, feeling worthless, depressed - you meant so much to him but you are nothing but a repulsive -"
"jackson, calm," aaron soothed, taking his face in hand. "you can't hurt him too bad. they'll get upset, it'll show a lack of control. that's something they look for. do you want to be accepted or not?"
"accepted?" raymond cried, voice high in pitch. "are you selling me to a cult or something?"
"nope," aaron said cheerfully. "much worse."
jackie growled in raymond's direction. "fucking bastard. the organization better see self control from me if it means i can't beat the living daylights outta this guy."
"they will," aaron reassured. "they will. then we can properly be together, and you can't -"
jackie suddenly screamed, a howl of complete agony that made raymond throw his head back like it would save him. jackie clawed at his chest, doubling over as his whole form… his form, his body… raymond cringed. the man's form was flickering, like a glitching computer screen. and as he watched, raymond started to smell something. a stinking, magical smell so thick it almost made him choke. it smelled like smoke. like smoke creeping through an open window.
"jackson, jackson - fuck, let's get out of here," aaron said, pushing jackie out the door of the small room raymond was being kept in. aaron whipped back round to look at him as he left, glaring. "get comfortable," he said. "you might be in here a while."
the door shut behind them, leaving raymond cold with the taste of copper and smoke on his tongue.

To All The Girls I've Loved Before / Percy Jackson AU
based more on the film version than the novel
Percy Jackson is a 16 year-old hopeless romantic with stormy eyes, a mischevious smile, and jet black hair that spills all over his eyes. He falls and hard, usually liking people for a long time. Instead of telling his crushes, though, he instead writes each a letter- letters he never even thinks once about sending. Each letter is addressed to each of his five (5) main crushes, equipped with why, when, and how he fell for each of them
letter #1: annabeth chase. annabeth chase was percy's first kiss back at a party in seventh grade. it was only for a second, due to a game of spin the bottle, but it was as if the world lit up to percy. in the letter, he reveals that even though annabeth was dating his then-bestfriend, Luke Castellan, percy continued to secretly like her for the rest of seventh grade and most of eighth. the one thing percy loved the most about annabeth was also the one he hated the most; everybody liked her, and it was impossible for him not to fall for her. in his eyes and the eyes of most, she was perfect.
letter #2: rachel elizabeth dare. rachel elizabeth dare was the first person percy liked after getting over his crush on annabeth. it all started on a rainy day when they had to put up the PE's gym bats. rachel was the only one who ever called percy PJ, and he secretly loved it. he also wished he had a nickname for her. their time together was short-lived though, because rachel moved away at the start of the summer after eighth grade. after she left, percy wrote the letter admitting that he wished something had happened between them, even saying he wish she never left.
letter #3: thalia grace. thalia grace was percy's date to homecoming in ninth grade. in his letter, he admitted that he fell for thalia due to her grace- no pun intended- and witty comments all while they danced. percy admitted the crush lasted a little while, and grew even bigger from their english class presentations because thalia just seemed so confident. he ended the letter with a question, what kind of boys did thalia like? was he one of them?
letter #4: calypso from camp. calypso and percy went to the same camp the summer after eighth grade. this romance was very short-lived and percy never even learned her last name. he started liking her after she showed him how to make a shell necklace during arts-and-crafts, but when camp ended, he wrote the letter then sort of forgot about her.
letter #5: silena beauregard. percy actually wrote on two different occasions for silena. after silena moved in the neighborhood when percy was going into sixth and she was going into seventh, her, percy, and percy's older brother, Charles "charlie", all became friends very quickly. the first part of the letter was written when charlie and silena started dating when percy was in ninth grade. percy admitted in the letter that he wished that him and silena got more alone time, despite her relationship with his brother. due to respect for his brother, though he never finished the letter. that is, until charlie broke up with silena right before leaving for college. percy finished the letter on another page, stating how the breakup made him realize that he still had unresolved feelings for silena left over. though again, he said nothing could ever happen between them because of charlie.
it was september of percy's high school junior year when the letters get out. charlie's away at college, leaving percy and tyson alone to fight amongst themselves. after a particularly bad fight, tyson sent out all the letters while percy was asleep.
the next monday, percy was running laps outside at pe when was approached by a very confused annabeth clutching her letter. percy, being as graceful as he is, fainted. when he woke up, not only was annabeth staring down at him, still confused, but silena was also walking towards him, her own letter in hand. so, he did the only thing he could think of- he reached for annabeth and kissed her. annabeth seemed surprised but still kissed him back, and the kiss lasted for what seemed like minutes to percy. when they finally broke apart silena is nowhere in sight. almost as quickly as percy kissed annabeth, he runs.
he runs all the way into school where he runs into thalia grace. "percy! thank gosh!" it takes all of percy's willpower to stop himself from fainting when he sees that thalia also is holding her letter. "uh, you know i'm aromantic, right? i mean, you're sweet, and i totally had fun at homecoming, but i don't-" percy's face turns a bright shade of red. "yeah, yeah, of course. it was a long time ago anyway. uh, can we talk later?" as soon as thalia nods, percy heads to his locker and leaves school, running like the devil was chasing him (percy put off taking his driving test due to the fact that his extreme ADHD made it really hard to concentrate on the road, so he mostly ran everywhere)
when he got home, he ran to his closet to see that all the letters had been sent. one good thing- his letter to calypso had been mailed back, as he didn't know her address. bad thing? everybody else's had sent, and he didn't know how to do damage control.
a little after his mother and brother got home, percy still was trying to figure out how the letters had gotten out. he was tearing apart his room for the fifth time when his mom called up to him; "Percy! Silena's here! Looks like she really wants to talk to you!" percy, of course, instead, hopped down the stairs of the fire escape and headed to his favorite diner, the Big House Diner
when he got there, he immediately asked for his regular order and waited. since he was too busy looking out the window, he didn't realize that somebody had sat down next to him. "Hey, Jackson." percy looked over to see annabeth not even three feet away from his spot at the bar. the waitress came over, asked for annabeth's order, and then left. in attempt to make things less awkward, percy asked annabeth what she was doing there. she was quiet for a while before admitting she had asked Tyson where she could find Percy. "Look, I just wanna be super clear." percy realized annabeth was trying to turn him down and quickly spoke up, "Annabeth, I'm not trying to date you."
after annabeth still kept going, percy explained the letters and then admitted he had only kissed annabeth because he saw silena coming. when annabeth just looked at him confused, percy told her how his brother was no longer dating silena but it would be super awkward if silena believed percy still liked her. "Wait, so. I'm not the only girl that got a letter? Damn, Jackson, you're a player"
Annabeth kept asking who percy sent the letters to, and he ended up telling her about all of them. Just as percy was about to leave, annabeth stopped him. "Did you...walk here?" moments later, percy was getting a ride home in annabeth's jeep. annabeth drove him home but neither of them said anything for awhile. finally, annabeth asked percy what he was going to do about silena, to which percy admitted he had no clue, but that he maybe still liked silena.
before percy got into his house, annabeth had gotten out of the car to stop him. "What if you didn't tell her? What if we let people think we were actually together?" annabeth explained how when luke heard about the kiss, he went ballistic, and how he'd want to get back together soon enough if he thought percy and annabeth were a thing. annabeth left him to think about her proposition, and percy was up almost all night thinking about it
the next day during free period, percy and annabeth met up on the outside benches. "first, if we're doing this, we need rules." "seriously, Jackson?" "Lists help me focus my thoughts."
Percy and Annabeth's rules: 'Annabeth will play with Percy's hair' 'Percy has to read at least one of Annabeth's favorite books' Annabeth has to watch Finding Nemo with Percy, because it's a classic' 'Annabeth will write Percy notes everday' Both people can never tell anybody the relationship is fake' 'Percy has to come to Annabeth's lacrosse games. And the parties.' Annabeth has to drive Percy and Tyson to school' 'Annabeth and Percy have to have better nicknames for each other than just their last names'
"You like the beach, right?" "Yeah, why?" "Then I'll call you Seaweed Brain." "I wish you wouldn't....Wise Girl"
And lastly, 'Percy must go on the school ski trip with me' Percy agreed, secretly thinking to himself that since it was three months away, they probably wouldn't still be doing this. but instead of saying that, he said, "Okay. Deal." both signed, then shook on it for extra measure
the next day, october 1st, their contract was put into motion. percy woke up, got ready for school, and sure enough, when he and tyson walked out of their house, there annabeth was, waiting to drive them in her jeep
as soon as they got into the car, annabeth turned to talk to tyson. "hey, little Percy, what's that?" "it's our mom's famous blue breakfast smoothie. and my name- thanks for asking- is Tyson. Ty to my friends. So, you can call me Tyson." Annabeth smiled, turned to Percy and said, "He's got spunk. I like him." tyson pretended not to hear but percy could tell he was pleased based on his small smile. he wasted no time, though, and immediately asked why the heck annabeth was driving them. "Well, I'm your brother's girlfriend." this response from annabeth came so suddenly that percy almost spit out all of his smoothie. "Can I try some of that, Tyson?" 'Sure' "Oh wow, that is really good. If I drive you guys to school again, will you get me another one of those?" "If you keep driving us to school, you can call me Ty."
as soon as percy and annabeth walked into school, percy knew that people knew. for one thing, when annabeth and percy walked to class together, people started saying his name, started noticing him. "Hey, Percy!" was like a chorus all around him- even from the principal, Mr. D- who had only ever called Percy "Peter" before
when percy and annabeth walked into lunch, annabeth threw her head back in a laugh, brought it down in between percy's shoulder and head, then reached up and played with his hair. she reached into her back pocket and pulled out a note. "This is for you." Annabeth reached up to kiss Percy's cheek and whispered in his ear a quiet "Good job" before breaking away from him, giving Percy a good view of Luke Castellan. And by good, Percy meant horrible. Luke managed to look equal parts bored and murderous at the same time, and Percy quickly made his way to the cafeteria for some water
right before he got into the doorway, percy was suddenly pulled back. "This Chase thing is fucking insane, Perc!" it was Grover Underwood, Percy's best friend since the beginning of middle school. grover never really talked to anybody at school, but instead preferred hanging out with college kids. he was probably the last person that percy thought would be excited over this. the rest of the day percy got equal reactions from everybody else, not to mention a lot of comments and compliments from random girls
when he got home, percy realized he hadn't called charlie or answered his calls in almost a week. it took him maybe two hours after getting home to work up the courage to call him. "Finally. I feel like we haven't talked in forever, so... lay everything on me." percy debated on how to start, before finally settling on first talking about literally anything and anybody else besides him, silena, or annabeth. "Mom and I are making her famous blue cookies for Ty's bake sale." "Bro, cookies? Nah, nah, you've got to do brownies. They're easier." percy was about to argue when charlie started on a different topic.
"So have you heard from Silena recently?"
of course, in regular percy fashion, he started rambling. "Silena? who? oh, like our neighbor? her? uh, well, no, we don't....I mean I- I'm going to go make the cookies. See ya!" quicker than charlie could reply bye, percy hung up.
he was in the middle of getting out ingredients when his doorbell rang. it was annabeth. "Did you not read my note? We're going to Clarisse's party tonight." percy opened his mouth just as his mom walked through the door. "Annabeth Chase? Oh, my, you grew up so beautifully! You're so tall now!" Sally Jackson pulled Annabeth into a quick, yet strong hug in welcoming. all it took was annabeth to mention the party for sally to not only tell percy he was going, but that she would bake the cookies for him, and that he couldn't be home before ten but also not after one. "Of course, no drugs! Other than that, please have fun."
before he knew it, percy found him and annabeth standing outside of Clarisse La Rue's house. just as Percy reached to pull his sweatshirt hood over his head, annabeth slapped his hand away. "what're you doing? your hair looks so much better when you don't have that hood over it. give it to me." after taking his sweatshirt, annabeth put it on herself. she took his phone, took a picture of herself, then set it as his lockscreen. for the finishing effect, she looped his arm around her shoulders and let him lead the way inside.
walking into the party was just as school had been; annabeth introduced percy to her friends, people said hi to him, etc. it took only about five minutes for luke to spot him, and when he did, he invited percy to sit. percy sat down on the couch where luke and the Stoll brothers were sitting together. "So, what's going on with you and Annie?" percy didn't even open his mouth before Connor and Travis were bombarding him with questions of how, when, everything. "Shut up, guys. It's not like they're ever gonna do anything. Annabeth has only been with me and...I bet Percy's never even kissed a girl before."
apparently he didn't care about percy's reaction, because luke suddenly left, and his spot was replaced by annabeth, holding a cup for both herself and percy. "Let's take a picture together- for my phone." percy stared at her dumbly for maybe ten seconds trying to figure out what to do. he finally settled on one of the most cliché poses he saw on insta- he kissed her cheek.
annabeth left to go talk to her team and suddenly percy was alone. just as fast as he was alone, he wasn't. suddenly thalia grace was there. "I guess your letter worked, huh? Don't worry, your secret's safe with me"
while percy and thalia talked, annabeth went to the bathroom. in perfect character, luke followed her in, and immediately started talking. "So Jackson, eh? That's cute. Oh! Is this his sweatshirt? Do you mind? It's chilly." Luke took the sweatshirt from where Annabeth had set it on the counter, but instead of wearing it, he tied it around his neck like a polo scarf. of course, annabeth asked for it back. "No, I think I'll keep it for awhile, okay Annie?"
annabeth found percy, and after saying goodbye to thalia, they headed over to the Big House Diner. as soon as they got there, annabeth praised and praised percy for his "excellence performance in making luke jealous." percy shrugged, but he could feel heat rising on his face. to add on to that heat, annabeth started talking about when they were kids. "you've always had better style than Luke, and i think it made him jealous. better hair, too." of course, all through dinner, annabeth's phone was blowing up- with texts from luke. "So you guys still talk, then?" percy knew how he sounded- jealous- but annabeth didn't comment on his tone. "Sometimes. Hey, don't judge!" "Don't call him tonight."
they spent the rest of the night talking about the love letters, why percy hadn't had a girlfriend yet, why annabeth was still hung up on luke, etc. after dinner, annabeth drove percy home, reminding him to be ready the next morning for school. percy got ready for bed after responding to Annabeth's new instagram post of them, but stayed awake for a long time. when he finally did fall asleep, he went to bed with a smile on his face
by november, they had the fake dating thing down pact. percy would eat with annabeth's lacrosse team at lunch and bring them some of his mom's baked goods, percy and annabeth would call each other nicknames, etc. percy had to admit it was a nice change of pace, but he still caught himself feeling a little bit lost sometimes. especially when he started noticing silena staring across the cafeteria at him everyday
it was maybe the fifth week of percy and annabeth's relationship when silena showed up at percy's door wanting to talk. "I can't believe you're dating Annabeth." percy let silena rant about this "unlikely relationship" before cutting her off to ask if there was anything else. "Did you mean everything...in the letter?" "I don't know, okay? It was a long time ago." "So what am I supposed to do? I'm not going to tell Charlie or anything; he doesn't even talk to me anymore. Gosh, are we not even friends anymore Percy?" "I'm sorry, Silena. We can't talk right now."
percy forced himself to stop thinking about silena, and instead put all his effort into his relationship with annabeth. the only problem? percy was worried about the endgame. his mom and tyson were both so attached to annabeth at that point that percy couldn't imagine how they'd react when their thing stopped. it wasn't just his family he was worried about, either. he had had multiple family dinners at the Chase house, and he found that he actually enjoyed them
not only were their families getting closer, percy realized that so were he and annabeth. sometimes when they talked, their relationship seemed so scarily real that he couldn't breathe. they would talk about how percy's dad had passed away, how annabeth had run away from home and had an absent mother, everything.
percy, instead of talking to annabeth, turned to silena instead. he talked about how he felt himself falling for annabeth, for real, and silena listened to everything he had to say without any input. of course, annabeth hated the fact they still talked, maybe just as much as percy hated seeing luke and annabeth talk
Percy became so worried that he was falling for annabeth that all he wanted to do was call the whole thing off. "You know, maybe we should just call it." "Not before the ski trip, Seaweed Brain!" "Fine. I'll go. But only if Grover comes with."
Percy asked Grover, assuming he would say no, then almost killed him when he answered yes. percy spent the weeks leading up to the trip split between packing and worrying. on the way there, he sat with grover and slept the entire time. when they got there, he not so subtlety ignored and evaded annabeth's attempts to hang out together. him and grover ended up rooming together, and when grover went out, percy invited thalia over to their room to talk. he told her all about annabeth, the letters, the fake relationship, the maybe real feelings, everything. of course, thalia told him to do something, anything. "She obviously likes you, you know."
before he could talk himself out of it, percy had put on a jersey over his boxes. he headed down to the hot tub where thalia said annabeth would probably be waiting. sure enough, when percy got there, annabeth was all alone. "Now you want to hang out? I wanted to sit next to you on the bus Percy, and you ignored me, you know." it took percy a solid two minutes to realize what annabeth was trying to get at. before he could second guess it, he was in the hot tub, and then he was only an inch away from annabeth's face. and then they were kissing. and then percy slipped, dragging annabeth under with him. but they were still kissing, and all percy could think was that this had to be the best underwater kiss of all time
after the hot tub, percy walked annabeth back to her room and they kissed goodnight. for the rest of the ski trip, they were like this- affectionate, happy, and real. the morning they were leaving, percy, as always, was late- the very last on the bus. when he finally got on the bus, it erupted in cheers. "Jackson, you dog!" people reached over to slap his back and shoulders as he made his way to sit by annabeth. he thought about asking annabeth about it, but no sooner than he sat down had she started using his shoulder as a pillow, so he decided to forget about it.
when they got back to school, luke stopped percy before he could leave. "It's so cool that you came on the ski trip, you know? Almost as cool as how understanding you are about Annie and I's friendship. Like, a lot of boys would be a little mad that their girlfriend slept in another guy's room, but you're just really mature I guess. Oh! And it's sweet how you're okay with Annie still giving me gifts, like this sweatshirt here. Anyway, have a great break, Jackson."
when Annabeth came over to drive percy home, he told her he'd rather walk instead. he headed home in the fifty degree weather, and had only been walking a minute before he broke into a full sprint. when percy got home, he was so distracted that he didn't see tyson in the living room. as always, tyson tackled him before he could even say hi. then, just as he broke away, suddenly charlie was there, hugging both of them. it was so good to have both his brothers there with him that percy almost forgot about annabeth. almost.
it was an hour before dinner when annabeth showed up, voice loud and eyes watering. "Nothing happened between me and Luke that night, okay? We have history, he was sad, I helped him, but nothing happened Percy."
percy could barely listen and had barely gotten a word in when a third voice stepped in. "Maybe you should leave, Annabeth." Silena stood next to Percy, back straight and protective. "This is why you want to break up? Not because of Luke and I, but her? Are you seriously in love with this...Kardashian wannabe?!" suddenly, there was a fourth voice. "You're in love with Silena?" "Charlie, c'mon man, wait! Both of you need to leave. Now" "You were never second best, Percy. I promise."
just as percy went to go talk to charlie, his phone rang. somebody had sent him a video- of him and annabeth in the hot tub. 'It's always the geeky guys that try to act hard, isn't it?' percy threw his phone and stayed in his room for almost two days straight. when he finally left, he went down the hall to charlie's room.
"I'm so stupid" percy and charlie talked about everything, the letters, the video, silena, annabeth; and by the third hour of talking, percy and charlie were no longer fighting, just catching up
"Let's not have anymore secrets between the Jackson brothers now, okay?" Tyson said as soon as he saw they had made up. "That includes me. I sent the letters, okay? I'm sorry." Percy smiled for only a minute before moving to attack Tyson with Charlie's punching glove. "If I can forgive you for writing Silena a letter, don't you think you can forgive Ty for sending them?" he hated it, but Percy couldn't argue with that logic, and he forgave tyson fast.
fast forward to new year's, and percy still hadn't talked to annabeth. instead, he spent most days at the community indoor pool, all day. it got so bad that one time his mom picked him up an hour earlier than usual. "Come on, let's go for a drive, alright?" after percy got dressed in sweats, his mom took him to the Big House. "Your father and I used to dance here, you know, using the jukebox." percy stayed quiet; his mother never talked about his father anymore, not ever since he was confirmed dead at sea. his mom used this silence to her advantage and continued to talking, but switched to a different topic. "Seeing you with Annabeth was really...good. For all of us, I think. You guys seem to really like each other."
when percy got back to school, the video had been taken down. of course, there was a photo on his locker of them. 'Told her not to trust him. I bet he slipped her something. She would never get into a hottub with him out of her own free-will.' while percy stared at the message, grover ripped it down, and suddenly annabeth was there, screaming. "Hey! It was my choice to get in that hottub. If you want to shame, shame me, but leave Percy out of it, because he didn't do anything wrong to me, okay? He's probably the nicest guy here and you're all just asshats that can't see it"
after her speech, annabeth headed over to percy. "I'm sorry." "I've got to talk to somebody else, first, Annabeth." Percy looked all around school until he found who he was looking for. "Seriously, Luke? What the hell's your problem, man?" "You, Percy. You have been since you kissed my girlfriend in seventh grade. You broke the bro code first, remember?" percy couldn't believe that luke cared about that kiss, maybe more so than percy had when he wrote annabeth her letter. percy suddenly wasn't mad at luke, he was....sorry? for him. he couldn't explain it, but it didn't seem worth fighting over anymore. percy stepped back from luke and let him leave.
after school, percy invited silena over. "You were the first girl I ever truly liked, but I didn't realize until you started dating Charlie. But, over time...that feeling faded away. And, I guess, I'm trying to say...I miss you. But not in a romantic qay, just as a best friend." "Well, duh! I miss my best friend too, Perc. Obviously, I'm not a big fan of your little miss perfect, but I like how she stood up for you. It takes a lot for girls to stand up in that way, especially since that video could wreck a future scholarship for her. maybe you should tell her you miss her" "What if it isn't as real to her as it is to me?"
percy and silena sat in silence for a while before tyson came downstairs with a cookie jar. it was the one percy tried to throw away- the one full of annabeth's notes to him. percy spent the next twenty minutes reading all the letters before he made up his mind.
percy got in his mom's car, drove all the way to school, and rushed across the field. annabeth, fresh off practice, stood in the middle, watching percy come to her. "I drove here." "Really?" "Yep. Okay, bye now." "Wait, Percy, wait. what's in your hand?" percy turned to leave, but annabeth grabbed his wrist. "Read me the letter, Percy."
percy opened the letter and closed it almost immediately, looking into annabeth's eyes instead. "I need you to know that I like you, Annabeth Chase, and not in a fake way." percy held his breath and got ready to hear bad news. instead, annabeth said, "Well, I'm in love with you, Seaweed Brain. Now, are you going to break my heart, or are you going to kiss me?"
"I'm never letting go of you again, you know that, Wise Girl?" "I know."
they kissed, and percy couldn't help but be happy that the letters had gotten out. after all, he knew that him and annabeth probably wouldn't be together without them.

Final Cyperpunk2077 playthrough thoughts
Finished the game finally, general thoughts above spoilers, then a log of actions/reactions below cut
overall the game was #fine  Not even discussing the bugs I had and CDPR’s issues as a studio, the game felt shallow as a puddle outside the main quest and a few side quests. Driving is bad, combat quickly became boring, there isn’t much divergence as promised with your origin, so why replay it from the beginning? But the larger flaws are not just technical issues like how poorly cars handle, but design choices that make a lot of side quests “go here kill enemies loot documents“ boring. Comparing the yellow ! quests, with Witcher 3 monster contracts: they had a deeper story sometime, and you had a to fight enemies with different combat styles. A lot of the skills and perks shown in E3 material that would have made for more interesting builds were either removed from the game, or don’t work.
I took a week off from playing this game, because I got to the point Of no return, and was finishing up side quests and hit a bug. Then i was thinking: is this it? For a game that I took the release week Friday off work to play because I wanted to experience the story with no spoilers; its just indicative of how somehow along the way I became apathetic with both gameplay and story.
the bit where Saul says Panam was right he was wrong, then gives her a hug. Just omaze. Wasn't expecting to pass out, but i love how all the aldacados greet you when you wake up and ask if you are ok.
really enjoy how Takemura hates all the awful food that is present in the future in Night City, and yet will still get pizza for the stake out. Seeing the cat, hearing about his backstory, who am i to just him for his corporate soldier backstory. "there are no clean hands but it is important how they become dirty"
apparently for Pisces quest you get a different ending if you do nonlethal to take down Maiko, so I reloaded a save and did that. Judy is a lot happier. She gave me a KISS, versus being shaken and upset.  I don't see Clouds being independent going well, they probably should join with the Mox
(had to relaunch the game here, since there was a bug that didn't let me hack anything)
After that I made sure to do nonlethal taking down Oda. Quickhacks and jumping away from attacks ftw.
I like how one of the reporters is there and you can repeatedly walk into her shot, and ruin it.
Of course I went back for Takemura in the apartment. I've played Deus Ex, and didn't save Paul the first time, so of course I had to go back for the rescue.
Johnny gave me his dog tags, and said that when the time comes it's his life for mine. I wonder if this dialogue would change any depending on the choice.
the scene where Johnny takes control drives home just how much an asshole he is. I just muted my headphones, and skipped through it b/c it wasn't exactly fun to sit through. I really like Rouge, her line of "I could never confuses the two of you", like I want her to like V for V
I drove out to the dump, because I knew you could find Dexter Deshawn's corpse. Also found the corpse of Bartmoss the guy who destroyed the net in a cooler nearby. It's neat that there are these things you can stumble upon in the world, but like the world is so big I needed to look up a guide to find where in the dump was Dexter's corpse. (update the bartmoss quest was kind of a let down, I just got some quickhacks not much story)
The dump through is good worldbuilding, is massive, and when i was there a dust storm blew in obscuring everything. Absolutely horrifying for their world, it's environmentally fucked.
I had decided to go with the Judy romance a while ago, and finally did that 3rd quest. It's sweet the build up to the date in the phone call and the different convo choices you have leading to sex; even though the 1st person sex cutscenes are still awkward af. Compared to the River one where there's a mood, here they just flash a lot of tit and vaguely suggest oral. Judy then invites you to move in with her, which you can then acknowledge it's literally playing the "lesbians move in with eachother quickly" trope, completely straight (pun intended). But I really like Judy's arc over the game as she gets to know V better, and you asking her to be with you is what stops her from leaving night city (I'm guessing friendship might stop it too, or just have a different ending).
The diving mechanic was cool, though I think this is literally the ONLY swimming mission in the game, so kind of a waste of a mechanic. I kept thinking, wow it sure would be bad if V passed out inside a building deep underwater: then "suprise pickachu face" guess what happens. Also not shocked to learn the tiger claws struck back at Clouds, without support from another gang it was bound to happen.
I like quests with Rogue, she's kind of a snarky ass just like V. I went ahead an executed Greyson I didn't trust him. Nice of Rogue to get me a jacket, but at the same time feels weird, accumulating more of a dead person's outfit piece by piece. Rogue is attractive, female silver fox way, but also i can't tell if its just to give gamers fanservice.
Wow after a few quests going "never again give Johnny control", he sounded so down talking at his non existent grave, and regretting that he was an asshole to everyone he knew, that I agreed to help him finish things with Rogue. (wonder if any choices you make change that dialogue)
Rogue: "is johnny asking me on a date or you" SURE WISH IT WAS BOTH ROGUE. I chose the kiss option but I get why Rogue says it wouldn't have been fair to her. AS V THOUGH, I TOTALLY WOULD HAVE BEEN DOWN.  Though Johnny did behave himself, glad to see trust wasn't betrayed.
Visiting Kerry, sure why not the visit with Rogue went well. It’s weird how friendly johnny is to you zig zags between side quests.
Going to find Nancy, I'm glad Dum Dum and Maelstrom showed up again. Was worried they would never follow up on that plot. Then i of course chose Denny, she had her house wrecked. But I do think its funny, I have all this Silverhand gear and no one but Rogue comments on it.
Here’s hoping male V’s get more from Kerry, you get the questline of reuniting the band, and then after talking at the bar you get repeatable dialogue prompts, and thats it for content.
Nice that you can go talk to Rogue and Judy and they will comment on the parade going poorly.
NOTE:  I went to do a side quest Fortunate Son, and got a persistent bug where I thought quickhack was broken (turns out you just can't quickhack police) and the game wouldn't let me skip time. At this point I put down the game for a week and went to play something else, because it was the final straw. Also, that quest is poorly designed, it makes you fight a bunch of cops you can't just run away. So much for freedom of play.
Apparently I don't get the secret ending because my approval with Johnny is just 60%, and i didn't pick the specific dialogue choices required; so I went with the Rogue ending because feels like it completes her narrative more than attacking with the Aldacados
I looked up the Arasaka ending before I made changes, and wow that ending is depressing af (as to be expected)
Rogue is the best, but i was more tired of playing the game than sad she died, anyway thats what fix-it fanfic is for.
But for fucks sake, the first fight with Adam Smasher, he jumped to the upper platform, and the game bugged out so i couldn't even decide his fate. It's bugs all the way to the end. I think the ending choices were also bugged, V was attacking Johnny talking about the well, no matter what choice was prompted for bridge/well.
Then the ending. I chose for Johnny to go on with Alt.  I get why people have said they were disappointed with the endings. The Johnny ending has everyone wondering why V is now ghosting them, makes sense because this ending proves Johnny is an asshole.
Wow for saving Takemura in the hotel, he calls me and tells me “rot in hell kuso ama“ (rot in hell fucking bitch). So thats great /s. Can see that he’s obviously upset I didn’t take the arasaka offer and now the company is in turmoil. So much for thinking we were friends and guess saving Oda literally doesn’t matter for anything
But the return the body to V: V has presumably very short time left to live, the calls you from friends and acquaintances talk about how she doesn't call or visit them any more, your love interest talks about how you've been distant with them. I guess the delemain dialogue differs based on attack choice and how you resolved the Delemain quest, since it's different in a similar playthroughs on YT. As for endings for other characters it seems people are better off the more you help them, which makes sense.
But I still had this feeling not just that the ending was bittersweet, but that this didn’t in character for the V I had been playing. That Heck the Judy ending with attacking Arasaka alone/with Rogue, has her leaving Night City without you. Which fair, you knew that as you got into a relationship with her. But still feels like a downer. She's a lot happier in the Panam attack ending. I appreciate that you get different options, and options within those options, but I’m just like what narrative arc did V undergo? What personal journey was actually resolved?

in the absence of the light
Tumblr media
taehyung x reader. 2k words. angst.
it started with two strangers sharing a lighter.
x
It was drizzling when the door swung open.
A man probably in his 20′s was covering his head with his hand as though he wouldn’t end up sick with damp clothes and dry hair. But each their own. He’d brought out pack of cigarette and fully intended to light it when he placed it between his lips and patted his body to come up naught.
Otherwise, why would he have asked you.
“Say, you wouldn’t have a lighter, would you?”
It was nice of him to ask as you took a drag of your own cigarette.
He’d mumbled out a thanks when you’d offered to light it up for him - actually, the only exchange that could pass as an offer was the click of the lighter and the fire that you’d shielded away from the wind and droplets.
He was Taehyung by the way. You murmured with your own introduction and a wave your hand. The cigarette tucked between your index and middle finger.
You spoke of many things, like how you were doing two jobs to pay for rent and how he was riding on a full scholarship and was innocently amazed because he never worked a day in his life - his parents wanted him to concentrate on his studies. It was his first year and you were halfway through yours. Architecture was his major but he had always loved music - particularly jazz. He heard they played jazz a lot here so that’s why he came here. You told him you handpicked the songs and would invite the bands for every Friday.
Then his phone rang, it’d been brief but for someone who was already brighter than the sun, he just seemed to glow when he was talking to the person at the other end.
“It’s my girlfriend, she’s here and has a sneaky suspicion I’ve snuck out for a drag or two.”
“You never get past them.” You remarked.

Taehyung became a regular who would sit at the bar and asked you about your day. That was, if he wasn’t with his group of friends or girlfriend. You could be wrong, but you thought you saw him by himself more than you did with company.
There was a wistful smile playing on his lips as the music filled the otherwise solemn pub.
“What are you doing this Thanksgiving?” He asked one day.
“Here.” You absently said while polishing shot glasses.
“You’re not going home?” It was almost innocent how he sounded surprised at your answer. “Spend it with your family?”
“Nah, I got class the next day. Besides, they pay double on holidays.”
You didn’t remember agreeing to it per se, but somehow you ended up at Taehyung’s place after work on Thanksgiving. Hugging Sooyoung, you’d passed her the bottle of - decent - wine you picked up on the way here with your recently received paycheck. When Jungkook, one of Taehyung’s friend that you figured became your friend over the time he patronized the pub, went over with his booming loud voice and bear hug.
“Look who showed up!”
The invitation was strictly no-kids which meant a heck lot of booze and borderline illegal ‘fun’. You were slightly buzzed when you took a drag of your cigarette on the door step of Taehyung’s house.
“I’m thinking of proposing to Sooyoung,” his cheeks had been pink - you weren’t sure whether it was the effect of the alcohol or the thought of marrying his significant other, “I’m gonna go buy the ring tomorrow.”
“You got any idea in mind?” Your voice had been coarse but you blame it on the shouting and laughing when Jungkook was giving Namjoon a lap dance because of some bet he lost. “What her preferences are?”
He ran a hand through his long hair, smiling cheekily and shaking his head, “can you help a friend out?”
You breathed out a half-chuckle, “what would you do without me?”
“I know.” His chuckle was more genuine, freer as he accepted the bud you passed.
x
Taehyung had picked the simple diamond encrusted ring that you pointed out when you went ring-hunting that day after Thanksgiving.
He’d got on one knee in front of his family and friends - of course, you were invited as well - on Christmas eve. You advised him against his idea grand rose petals and candles in the park because for one, it was cold and two, you had gotten to know enough of Sooyoung to know she would hate the extra public attention.
In some ways, you two related to each other when it came to Taehyung and his overzealous escapades.
Sooyoung literally jumped into your arms and engulfed you in a bone-crushing hug when she saw you in front of the door, “thank you.”
“What do you mean?” You pretended you didn’t know.
“We’re both aware Taehyung couldn’t have picked out a cute ring that caters to my preference without a little guidance.” She nudged your arm and winked.
You couldn’t help but laugh.
She saw the pack of cigarette's you didn’t have the time to slip back into your pockets and tsk-ed in a maternal kind of way - though your own mother would bite your head off every time she hugged you and noticed the smell of smoke on you.
She knew Taehyung had already made an escape but she was letting him off the hook tonight.
“I’m quitting.” You had lamented in a puff. “I got a job - a real job at a big shot company.”
“Holy shit. Why didn’t you tell us at dinner?” Taehyung’s eyes had lit up so bright, you almost didn’t understand how someone could be so happy for another person for landing a job you’d seen coming anyway.
“I didn’t want to steal a spotlight.” You shrugged.
“Steal the spotlight? This is the best news I’ve ever heard, you’ve been working your ass off, you deserve the job  - it’s like double good things happening in one night!”
Then the answer hit not much later; that you were his friend, dare you say one of his closest.
x
To your surprise, Taehyung showed up to your graduation. He drove a whooping one hour to get your university. He moved away when he got a lucrative job offer - the only mode of communication you had was Instagram. And you’d only posted a story of the hall where blue caps were mostly visible.
“Oh, you have my blessing.” Your mom cooed when she realized the man with a bouquet of sunflowers and roses were walking up to you.
“Mom, that’s Taehyung.” Your tone is warning - the last thing you need is your mother making it awkward. “He’s engaged.”
“Well, I don’t see a fiancee anywhere.”
Thankfully, your mom had kept her mouth shut, greeting and asking about his background like a mother who was mildly curious about her anti-social child’s friend.
To be fair, you had plenty of friends and went to a bunch of parties in between work and studying. You just didn’t bother to keep in touch with them after you left.
“Where’s Sooyoung? I thought you guys are together twenty-four-seven.”
Taehyung’s smile had turned sour but he quickly shook the question off, saying something about wedding preparations.
But Taehyung being Taehyung eventually spilled the predicament as he took another shot at the bar where you used to work.
“I don’t know if I’m making the right choice, you know? We’re both so young - I just started working and she’s asking why I don’t have as much time as I did for her.” It was like a broken tap, everything just poured out; his anxiousness, his hopes, his dreams, “what if it gets worse? What if work demanded more of my time and she’s left alone at the house? I don’t want to bind her like that.”
You weren’t much of a talker so you hugged him and muttered words you hoped would mean something to him.
“It’s going to work out, Tae.”
It was a minute later that you realized Kim Taehyung, the bright, shining sun out of your - his, then - circle of friends, was so terribly scared that he was breaking down in your arms.
“I’m so fucking scared, ___.”
You kept repeating those words over and over again until he stopped shaking. He’d looked up and you thought he had the prettiest brown eyes you’d seen. Someway, somehow, the lips you thought looked the softest was on yours. He tasted like cheap liquor and salmon from the dinner you had before he drove your parents to their hotel.
“I’m sorry, I don’t know what got into me-”
“Don’t mention it,” you cut him off with a wave, “I need a smoke. You got a lighter and cig? I ditched mine in my drawer when I heard my mom was coming.”
That night, you learned two things that shifted the stars in your world.
“Actually, I quit smoking six months ago.”
1) The sides you’d both revealed to each other was based off everything unhealthy in your lives - namely the packs of cigarette's you couldn’t recall how much off and 2) you realized you were losing the man you never had in the first place.
x
“Rise and shine, sleepy-head.”
There’s a smell of pancakes and something bitter. The two somehow came hand-in-hand. It took you five seconds to stretch body, another five to realize the other side of the bed was cold and empty, the last five was reserved for the realization that someone had waken you up.
A kiss landed on your temple as you rubbed your tired eyes, already sitting up. There’s a tray on your lap that smelled delicious - as were the other things Jungkook had conjured up in the kitchen.
“Look what came in the mail.” He waved his iPad in the air as he slipped into his side of the bed, arm touching yours.
You mumbled a ‘what?’ in between bites of the savory goodness before the answer is shoved in your face. It took you another five seconds to adjust to the light but when you trailed the cursive font, you knew this day was going to come.

Ladies and gentlemen,
You are invited to Kim Taehyung and Park Sooyoung’s wedding.
Please, RSVP at your earliest convenient.

Almost two years passed since that night. You still kept up with each other, commenting on the other’s stories but that was as far as staying in contact went.
You’d met Jungkook when you were transferred to the branch office of the company you’d been working at. As the manager of the project you were transferred to oversee, you couldn’t escape the brains of the company in collaboration with yours.
At first, it was dinner with the whole team. And then, since you were both of a leading position, you’d went to dinner as colleagues to discuss about the project. At one point, you took his invitation to his place in satire reminiscence of your younger self. Next thing you knew, the project was a success and so was your dating life - for once.
“Should we bring two presents?” You look at Jungkook who looked back at you before the both of you broke into laughter.
“Nah.”
For well-off directors, you two were pretty shady.
x
Sooyoung always had the warmest hugs.
“Careful, don’t break my other half.” Jungkook had commented when you were too nice to tell her you needed to breathe and possibly uncracked bones to function.
“I didn’t know you were together!” She squealed like a child who saw her favorite persons finally - as she said - together. “Tell me all about it.”
“It’s a long story.”
“I have all the time in the-” Before she could finish her sentence, one of her bridesmaids were on her side and in a blink of an eye she was whisked away to greet another seemingly important guests.
You’d danced with Namjoon for the first half before Jungkook swept in because he was ‘too bored waiting for my other half to ask me for a dance’.
“To be fair, I was dancing to one of Frozen’s soundtracks which you almost always told me to ‘go away, ___.’” You mimicked his squeaky version of Elsa’s rejection.
“Me? Never!” He had the audacity to sound flabbergasted.
You’d rolled your eyes and rested your head on his shoulder when a slow song came on. In the soft flow of the melody, your eyes met Taehyung’s who was dancing with his bride.
There’s a wistfulness in the way you both smiled at each other that brought you back to the back of the pub on that rainy day.
It’s brighter now.

Ekko x Fem!Reader - The worst time possible.
word count: 2,240
requested: yes! by anon: “ Oh, alright. So for some spicy situation, can you do that with Ekko and his s/o / partner / something (fem) running from a big guy who attack them and they just hide in a reeeeealy thigh gap, like her breasts just squeezed to him, and suddenly Ekko jr. just wake up -insert lenny face- I leave it to you if it turn spicier or just stay embarrassing. Also can you age up him, like 18 or older? (before you ask, yes I was the other Ekko anon -nervously laugh-)”
warnings: NSFW, read at your own risk! + Ekko is aged up, if someone didn’t got it quite directly, he is grown up, don’t worry! if you don’t wish to see this kind of content, block “dirtyhacker” tag, friendly reminder!
A/N: I laughed so hard seeing "Ekko Jr." like, my God. Took me some time, sorry. ^^"
Ekko was running as fast as he never could -  and trust me with that, he'd run for Ajuna's life and he thought it was his limit, but now? Time gave him more strength, longer legs and a girl to protect. So many things he was lacking back then. He's 19 now, almost 20, and as much as he promised his parents he'll get to Piltover's highest college, he always kinda… 'forgets'. Lost children of Zaun weren't kids anymore, and he's genuinely surprised his parents didn't pass out from exhaustion - not like he complains! He loves them as much as they love him, but times had change. Is it for better or worse?  He'd always answer single "yes', since it's not better or worse, it's just how it is
And now what was going on -  you were chased by this hell piece of flesh and metal, wanting to rip off Ekko's head. Reason? Ekko has sticky fingers, he just took bad piece of metal at the wrong place on the wrong time. He said sorry several times - nothing went through this insanely angry fella. He saw you were getting exhausted -  heck, he saw (and felt, he was holding your hand) you tripping, he instantly secured you, not even giving you a chance to fall down. Ekko took a very sharp turn into left, making it look like you both disappeared, but in reality hid in that tight, really uncomfortable gap. Ekko took a sharp breath in when he felt your breasts against his chest, looking down at you with his darkened cheeks. He mouthed you 'I'm so sorry', for what you answered with nervous smile and nod. Meanwhile this monstrous being ran past your hiding place.
Everything was gucci, really? Ekko wanted to move away, but when he made little movement you gasped dramatically, making him stop in his tracks. He felt the reason of gasp too, very clearly.  - What a irony, am I right? I am master of time, but Ekko Jr. picks the worst time possible to rise up. Is it a good place to say you're heeeella sexy and I think of you a lot? And by a lot I mean a lot.  - Jesus Christ, Ekko! I love you and I do too but it indeed is the worst timing possi- did you just named your goddamn penis "Ekko Jr."? -  you asked with disbelief.  - Uhhh… Yeah? I wanted to make the situation less heavy. Plus… it'll produce Ekko Jr. one day. -  he add proudly. - That's lovely sweetie, but… we won't name our future son Ekko Jr.  - Awh man! I was hoping for that since my birthday, don't be like that!
He joked, making both of you laugh. When you both have calm down he just grinned at you, his blush still present.  - But you know, [y/n],  I'm still rock hard. Should I go home and take care of it alone, or…  -  you love how your boyfriend is this honest, but it killed you sometimes. He's so direct with words sometimes it's hilarious, sometimes painful.  - Thank you for asking. If you hid behind your words "would you be comfortable enough to help me with Ekko Jr.", I have to tell you… - you started with this tone which suggested you turning him down. -  That I'll be the worst girlfriend knowing I turn you on so much and leaving you alone after that. Let's go to your house.  - Yes! Yessss - Ekko cheered, letting you get out of this hell of a gap first. When both of you were out, he hugged you and spun around with you. -  I love you, [y/n]! I'm glad you trust me that much!  - I always did, I wasn't just ready for that.  - Roger that! Let's go now, it starts to hurt.
He held your hand while  walking, but you noticed the change in his behavior, he was walking really fast with these long legs of his, and using side paths, so no one sees this sadly built up tent in his pants. He opened the door to his house, letting you in first. He was calm and nice, that lasted as long as door was open. When Ekko closed it, he pinned you to it, kissing you deeply, but not forcefully. Ekko knew you too well and knew what to do. And even if he'd do something unpleasant for you, he still can remind. For now, of course, as long as you both have clothes on. He can't have that intimidating moment with Zero-drive on his back, right? Well, maybe not for the first time. And almost like you could read his mind, you pushed him off gently, holding him by his collar and said softly with a smile.  - Can I have a request for you, Ekko?  - Anytime.  - Please don't go back to this moment? I know you love to rewind important moments in your life, but let this first time be your only first time, does that make sense?  - I was thinking about it too, don't worry!  Your boyfriend is a genius after all.~ With big happiness he got back to kissing your lips, then jaw, neck, collarbone. His tempo was slow, agonizing. He didn't had to do much to excite you too. His kisses and little bites were enough to hurry him up, but you knew Ekko too well, and he knows the best how to use time properly. He'll be "faster"  when he wants to be, and he'll take his time when it's needed. You were getting impatient.  - Ekko- ahn- - you moaned because your chest was played with by surprise. This sneaky bastard. - What’s up, [y/n]?  - No-oh, noo, don’t be like that now, moron-! - I’m just teasing, sorry honey. Soon, wait for me a little bit… - he murmured, continuing what he was doing.
He took you up by your thighs, wrapping your legs around his lips, kissing you shortly. “I love you” he comments, before rising you even higher, you hugging his muscled tummy with legs, while his head made its way under your shirt. All mass of his hair was sticking out or got locked under your shirt’s material. Whole mess, which tickled you too. When he was licking your nip, sometimes teasing it with teeth, you were aroused and giggly mess. You laughed and moaned at the same time, Ekko is a monster sometimes.  - Come- ahahah- on, Ekko, your hair is a bloody mess!  - You’re a bloody mess now. I can feel your hips moving around me, getting impatient aren’t cha?  - O-of course, I told you to hurry up but you never listened. - Alright, alright. Going for it, [y/n]. Promise you’ll make it up to me with bonus round, huh? - Ha! Like you’d know what will happen next. ...You...you don’t, right? - Pfth- Ahahah, of course not, oh my God! Hehehe, [y/n], I love you...
He carried you to “his room”, which meant some material instead of walls, separating whole house from his own space, giving him some privacy. This is the first time Ekko’s glad his parents aren’t home, imagine how awkward would it be by now. He laid you down on his place he usually sleeps, making sure you’re comfortable while lying down.
Ekko sensually undressed you, meanwhile feeling your skin all over with full hands, keeping eye contact with you. He wanted to keep things fair - when he took your shirt off, he started to do the same with himself - only much faster. When he almost tore his own shirt off, you laughed softly, stopping his hands while you sat up. You didn’t even bother to cover yourself, you know you don’t have to be ashamed with him. - Whoa there, pardner. Can I do the same to you? You know, with undressing. - Heh, of course, [y/n]. Like I could say no to your pretty face.
You tried to do it the same way he did it to you, slowly, while feeling his skin, but your hands were shaking. Gosh, your boyfriend was perfect. Smart, funny AND sexy. What more would you want from fate. You kissed his chest on the place where heart is supposed to be. After this little smooch you placed your hot cheek on his sweaty skin. Look, you were running pretty fast earlier, noone should be complainin’.  His heart was beating fast, but in pleasant way. He was tired, he was excited. Excited because of you.  When you were hugging him, he sighed in a pleasant way, slowly moving forward, making you lie on your back again. - Fair warning, I won’t let you do the same with pants. You’ve been warned.  - Very funny, time thief. - Who said I was joking? - he took off your pants too, getting off material of your underwear with his fingers. He wasn’t as slow as with shirt, he was in hurry by now.  - Seems like someone’s got impatient, huh? - Oh shuddup. - he rolled his eyes with big grin, as he stood up to take his own clothes off for good. All did and done.
He teased your womanhood with slightly rubbing his finger against it, to check how wet you already were. To his surprise - pretty wet. Well, pleasant surprise, it only shows that he makes miracles to you too.  - Damn, [y/n]. Remind me next time to eat you off next time, alright? Because you look tasty, but you want to get to things, I want to get to things… - E-Ekko! - you were burning red right now. This man’s really shameless!  - I’m just saying…~
He inserts his pointing finger inside you, making your whole body twitch, moving your knees closer to themselves to block access to your womanhood. Not like you intended to do that, you just got embarrassed. Ekko eased your mind by making reassuring circles on your hip with his second - free - hand, smiling to you. - I need you relaxed, [y/n], ok? - Mh-mhm...okay, I’ll- I’ll try my best. And he did his best too with his second finger inside you. Because he drove you almost to the edge, you relaxed your muscles, taking deep breaths.  You hugged Ekko around his neck, making the most erotic face of tonight. With lustful look you stared into his soul, all blushy with lips slightly opened, giggling lowly, like you were already tired, but were ready for more. - I think I’m ready, go for it. I know you’ve waited for some time… - D-...damn right. - he nod, awestruck.
He didn’t waste any more seconds, he slowly placed his penis between your legs, almost in entrance. He didn’t ask if you were ready, you said so earlier, so he just went for it. He slid himself in slowly, observing your reaction. You gasped shifting in pain. You were relaxed and Ekko tried his best to make it as much painless as he could, but it was impossible, it was yours first time after all. He waited patiently, asking if you’re okay. You only nod in response, shaking and calming yourself down, since you got teary eyes. It didn’t hurt that much that you’d cry your eyes out, it was just by this single moment, it’ll be okay soon, you can feel it. When you relaxed himself, you told Ekko to go on, and he reacted right away, almost like his body responded to your voice, not his genius brain. You held to his shoulders like your life would depend on if you’ll let them go or not. After he leaned down to get more closer, you hug him around waist, diving your nails straight to his back, gasping more and more with every move of his hips. As for first timer, he was amazing, but took him some time to open his mouth. - You’re so amazing, so stunning, oh…[y/n], I’d love to have babies with you in the future, have a family, y-you know? - he smiled slightly, but the realisation hit you. - E...Ekko…? Did you put the condom on? - … - ...N-no shit.  - A-Ack-! Wa-wait, I’ll just rewind and-! - NOT IN THE HELL YOU WILL! We’ll get through this...Maybe it won’t end like that? And even if it does, you’ll get the reason to go to Piltover, right? - you smirked, knowing how Ekko hates Piltover topic. - Shuddup, let’s finish for now and think about babies if you actually get pregnant. - But you want to impregnate me, Ekko! - you whined. - [y/n]!  - I know and you know! - you teased. This boy was your life.
You started whining when you were close, and felt Ekko’s shoulders intense too. You both were on the edge. - I think I’m- you cut him off. - me too, Ekko, me too-
Ekko make an attempt to pull himself out of you, cumming right into your stomach, smiling sheepishly.  - Look, I marked what is mine.~ - I love you too, dumbass. Plus - I marked you too~! - Wha- how-- but as he turned around, he felt pain on his back. Well, that’s so sweet of you, giving him backache for some time. - I’ll get you back for it, [y/n]! - You already got. You sat up, kissing his forehead. You cupped his cheeks into your palms, grinning at him. - I know we told ourselves that today a lot, but...I love you. I’m glad I met you. - I’m glad I met you too. babe. I’m the luckiest man alive. - And I’m his future wife, so I hope luck will get on me too. - It will, [y/n], it will.
