I am in love with the idea of sugar daddy bakugou, he would have to physically drag me out of bed to class, I set like 5 alarms and then still not go
IT'S ABSURD, like you can't even lie to him abt it either because he has your whole schedule memorized!! You think you've finally gotten away with missing one morning class just to sleep in and cuddle, but NOPE, after one hit of the snooze button he's pulling off your blankets and flickering the lights on and off.
You're like, "can't i just be your housespouse, stay home and do chores???"
And he's frowning, "first you were beggin' me for tuition, now you don't even wanna go???" (i'd immediately get up to argue with him but that's another story)
He is so annoying lmfao. Has an argument for all of your complaints, and will try to slap your butt if you don't get up. And the worst part is that he really does want you to do well !!! and get a degree in case you need to support yourself ever. Good LUCK not feeling guilty and trying to get out of homework, too.....
(and LITERALLY ME THIS MORNING, my alarm rang for an hour and apparently i just did not give enough of a fuck to notice😭😭😭)

I dont know if you're up for it, but I am reading COS again and I am so frustrated by Lockheart! I was wondering if you could do one where y/n asks George (and Fred) to prank him.
Thanks in advance! Have a nice day! X
This was so fun to write! Thank you for requesting it!
Lilac G.W. x GN!Reader
Warnings: one swear word, reader almost vomits because of Lockhart (not graphic and hardly mentioned and they don't actually throw up)
Word Count: 2.5k
Paring: George Weasley x GN!Reader (they are already in a relationship)
Summary: Lockhart is pissing you off so you and the Weasley twins decide to mess with him

As soon as the door to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom opened, the room let out a collective dreamy sigh. In the back of the classroom however, you and the Weasley twins couldn’t help groaning and rolling your eyes. Was he hot? Yeah, he most certainly was. Was he a complete fool that probably didn’t know his left hand from his left foot? Also, yes. It seemed like just about everyone that was attracted to men found his face perfect. You thought he was perfectly punchable.
Lockhart busied himself passing out essays, spending only a few seconds to congratulate some of the students on their fantastic work. However, when he came to the back of the room with yours and the twins' essays, he frowned. “Really I’m quite disappointed in you three. Honestly it’s like you didn’t even bother to read Voyages with Vampires. My book had all the information you needed to write the essay. It’s a shame just how poorly this will affect your grades. After all, you failed your tests on my autobiography.”
He set the essays on your table and went back to the front of the class, giving a dramatic reenactment of a scene from his book. You grabbed your essay and frowned as you saw the bright purple ‘D’ for dreadful. That grade was completely undeserved; you had spent weeks in the library researching vampires to make sure your essay had all the correct information. Apparently you didn’t need to be correct, you just needed to agree with whatever Lockhart said.
Looking to your left and right, you saw Fred and George had matching grades. They had been in the library with you most of the time. They deserved a better grade as well.
“Are we sure he’s qualified to teach?” You mumbled, shoving your essay in your bag.
George and Fred snorted. “Not at all,” they said at the same time.
You sighed and crossed your arms over your chest. “If I had wanted to learn nonsense I would have asked the Giant Squid to teach me about vampires, though I’m sure she’s probably smarter than Lockhart is.”
George took your hand in his, entangling your fingers. “Maybe by the end of the year Dumbledore will realize he hired a buffoon and none of these grades will count.”
You smiled a little at his attempt to comfort you, thankful he cared so much. George had been your boyfriend for the past couple of months and he was the best. He was always trying to help and constantly trying to find a way to touch you such as holding your hand in class. “I appreciate your attempts to make this better George. Maybe you’re right but it doesn’t solve anything right now. He’s just so smug, acting like he’s a gift to the wizarding world when he’s just a scumbag. I want to do something now.”
Fred looked at you with a wild smirk. “Am I hearing this incorrectly or does our lovely Y/N here want to mess with Lockhart?”
George looked down at you, mischief in his eyes. Would messing with Lockhart make up for all the terrible grades he had given you? No, but it would bring you some much needed joy. “Let’s do it. I want to make a grown man cry.”
---
During lunch, you and George met up in the transfiguration classroom. “Alright we need to be fast. We just need 20 minutes to make the potion and then it can sit in the vial until later.” You said as you set up the small potion making kit on one of the desks. McGonagall wouldn’t be gone for too long and you needed enough time to pack up the miniature cauldron as well.
George nodded, kissed your cheek, and started grabbing ingredients out of your bag. “I’ll start crushing the beetles and you can start preparing the flobberworm mucus.”
Taking the thick liquid, you dumped it in the cauldron. With a quick spell, you lit the fire beneath the cauldron and watched it start to bubble. George leaned over to check on the potion and deeming it ready, he added the beetles and began stirring the potion clockwise.
You and George worked perfectly together for the next ten minutes, adding different ingredients until you only had one left. With a wild smirk, George grabbed the lilacs and began grinding them until they started to form a paste. “I can’t wait to see his face once he sees what we’ve done to him.”
Before you could answer, the classroom door opened and McGonagall scowled at you both. “What do you think you’re doing here?”
George glanced at you before looking at the almost complete potion. “Professor, we were just trying to make a potion.”
“And what is the reason for the potion, pray tell?” She said with an exasperated sigh, crossing her arms over her chest.
“We want to screw with Professor Lockhart. He needs to be knocked down a peg and we can do it with the potion.” As soon as you spoke, George looked at you with wide eyes. This could easily be the worst idea you ever had but judging by the way the other teachers looked at Lockhart behind his back (and to his face occasionally), they had to dislike him as much as you did.
She walked over to you and looked at the potion over your shoulder. She narrowed her eyes, clearly judging the ugly brown color it was and the smell rolling off of it. “And you’re finished?”
You shook your head and gestured to the lilac paste in George’s hands. “We just have one last ingredient to add. Please, let us finish and then you can take as many house points as you want.”
“Well,” George mumbled. “Maybe not as many as you want. You still want Gryffindor to win the house cup right?”
The corner of McGonagall’s mouth twitched upward, a smile threatening to break through her stoic expression. “Ten points from each of you for misuse of my classroom. I’ll give you each five back if this potion is as successful as you claim it will be.”
She turned on her heel and walked back toward the door. “Make sure you clean up after yourselves or you’ll lose another ten points. The potion smells horrid.” She spoke over her shoulder before she closed the door behind her.
George looked at you, his mouth hanging open in shock. “I can’t believe that worked.”
“I can.” You laughed, taking the lilacs from George. “McGonagall has always been cool.”
---
That evening before dinner, the three of you were huddled in a small alcove by Lockhart’s bedroom. Students were strictly forbidden from entering the area of the castle dedicated to bedrooms for the staff but of course that wasn’t going to stop the Weasley twins. “So here’s the plan,” you whispered as you held the Marauder’s Map in front of you. Luckily the boys had found this in first year as it was extremely handy. “Lockhart should be coming out soon to go to dinner. When he comes out, I’ll distract him and keep him busy talking as we walk to the Great Hall. Fred,” you turned to the boy on your right, “you stand watch and keep checking the map. If anyone is coming, you give George the signal.”
Fred paled. “Right, the signal.”
“Have you discussed what that was going to be?”
Fred rubbed the back of his neck. “Well, I was thinking I could oink like a pig.”
A moment of silence passed before George spoke. “You idiot. There are no pigs in Hogwarts. You think someone will think it’s normal?”
Fred sighed and looked at his feet in shame. “It was my first idea alright.” He shoved his brother who started to laugh. “Shut up George. I’ll think of a signal alright. Please move on Y/N.”
With less confidence than you had before, you moved on to George. “Fine. George, while you’re in there you’re gonna use the potion and put it in Lockhart’s shampoo. Then get out of there. Don’t hang around because I don’t know how long I can listen to Lockhart talk about himself.”
George nodded and lightly punched your shoulder. “We got this. In and out and if all goes well, tomorrow Lockhart will cry.”
Leaving the twins, you waited for the blonde professor in the hallway. It wasn’t too long before he appeared. “Professor Lockhart! Could I ask you a question please?” You ran over to him, walking in step with him.
“Why of course…” He looked at you, eyebrows furrowing.
“Y/N.” You reminded him of your name, fighting the urge to roll your eyes.
“Yes, of course Y/N. Just testing to make sure my starpower didn’t make you forget your name.” He flashed you a fabulous smile.
Ignoring the bile rising in your throat, you smiled. “I was reading Voyages with Vampires after my poor grade I received and I must say, I am in awe of your abilities.” Lockhart smiled, absolutely beaming at your praise. “What else have you done? I’m sure there’s more you haven’t written about.”
“It’s true. If I wrote every single one of my accomplishments I would have hundreds of books. Let me tell you about the time I saved a town from a dragon.”
Back in the teacher wing, George was in Lockhart’s bathroom. Luckily for everyone, Lockhart was so obsessed with himself, his room was covered in pictures of himself so there was no denying this was his room. The pictures of Lockhart looked at George, absolutely gobsmacked to see him there. George quickly slipped into the bathroom before the paintings and pictures could look at him closely enough to remember what he looked like. He did not need a painting telling Lockhart it was him who was in there.
As soon as he entered the bathroom the overwhelming smell of lilac punched him in the face. The man was not only obsessed with himself but with lilacs as well. He loved the color and it made George chuckle to himself as he looked at the potion in his hand. After sitting for most of the afternoon, the color changed from brown to lilac and it had the smell to match. Lockhart would never know it didn’t belong here.
He added the potion to the shampoo bottle and gave it a good shake, mixing the two liquids. As he was setting the bottle back down, he heard oinking from the hallway. “Ah shit.” He groaned and dashed out of Lockhart’s room, crashing into Fred in the hallway. The twins landed in a pile on the floor, George trapped under his brother. At the end of the hall you were following Lockhart, almost begging him to keep talking about himself but he insisted he had to leave since he forgot something in his room.
George pushed Fred off of him and they ran the opposite way, putting as much distance between them and the room as possible. Seeing the boys leave, you gave up on Lockhart, letting him leave.
When you caught up with the boys during dinner, George assured you that everything was fine and he added the potion just in time. Hearing his confidence, you relaxed a little and the three of you agreed to sneak back to the teacher's wing first thing in the morning.
---
Before the sun had even risen, the three of you sat on the floor in the hallway, watching the map. It was a little creepy to stare at Lockhart’s dot on the map as much as you were but you didn’t want to miss anything. The dot started to move and you and the twins perked up, watching as it moved to the bathroom.
An hour later, a scream came from the direction of Lockhart’s room. Teacher’s quickly emerged from their rooms, searching for the source of the scream. McGonagall came out of her room, her hair down and looking like she just woke up. She quickly spotted you and the twins and raised an eyebrow. You waved a little and turned your attention back to the door, watching as the doorknob turned and out stepped Lockhart, his blonde hair now a delightful lilac color. His hair perfectly matched his lilac robes.
McGonagall covered her mouth, stifling her laughter as Lockhart looked around wildly for the culprit. His gaze landed on the three of you and he scowled, stomping over to you, yelling with tears in his eyes as he did. “What have you done to me? You ruined my hair! You are going to fix this right now you horrid little gremlins!”
“Gilderoy, that is no way to speak to students.” McGonagall stood next to you, glaring at Lockhart. “Especially when you don’t know if they were the ones that did this.”
“My paintings said a redheaded boy came into my room last night! Here we have two redheaded boys at the scene of the crime!”
McGonagall sighed, glancing at George out of the corner of her eye. “Gilderoy, are you aware just how many Weasleys there are? Let alone how many ginger students we have? It is impossible to assume either of these young boys were in your room last night.”
Lockhart crossed his arms over his chest, pouting like a child. “And you can prove they weren’t here last night? You can guarantee they weren’t out here waiting to see the result of their attack on me?”
McGonagall nodded, no longer hiding her smile. “In fact, they were serving detention with me last night and I requested they all meet me here this morning to discuss the rest of their detention. I’m sure Y/N was just dropping them off.” Lockhart opened his mouth to argue more but he was quickly cut off. “I suggest you visit Severus before breakfast, Gilderoy. He would be your best bet at removing this effect on your hair.”
She led the three of you away and down the hall, leaving a flustered and lilac Lockhart standing alone. In the other hallway, McGonagall shook her head, still smiling. “Fantastic job you three. Next time, don’t let the paintings catch you or wait directly outside of the crime scene.”
“Next time?” You all asked at the same time.
“Yes, because I am certain this will not be the last time something like this happens. After all, we are only in November and Lockhart will be here until June. Five points for each of you for bringing me more joy than I’ve had in a long time.” McGonagall gave you all one last smile and headed back to her room.
“I can’t believe how well this worked out.” Fred chuckled. “I’d better go tell Ron to lay low so Lockhart doesn’t try to pin this on him.”
Fred left, leaving you and George alone in the hallway. He turned and smiled, throwing an arm around you and tugging you into his side. “Feel better?”
“Oh yeah. Seeing Lockhart seconds from crying over his hair will bring me happiness for the rest of my life.”
“How long until the potion wears off?”
“By my calculations… three days.” You smirked, causing George to laugh.
“Merlin, I love you.” He smiled and gave you a kiss but was interrupted by his stomach grumbling. “I suppose we should get some breakfast.”
You took his hand in yours and started walking to the Great Hall. “Yes, we don’t want to miss Lockhart’s grand reveal.”

Comfort
summary : what would your boyfriend do if you had a bad day at work/school?
word count : 0.7k
type : headcanons
pairing/s : Modern! Gwaine / Merlin / Arthur (Soldier, Poet, King😂) x Reader
warning/s : asshole bosses / professors lol
here is my masterlist!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Note : Why is life so tiring? Sometimes, I just want to lay down and sleep. Slight NSFW on Gwaine's part .
Gwaine
Gwaine is evidently high-spirited but pouts like a kicked puppy when he sees you sad.
He may be a little unfamiliar with comforting someone but he knows that having fun can revive someone's soul so as a way to comfort you, he will offer a night of distraction and pleasure (I know what you're thinking and yes, you are right 👀).
From here, it depends on what you want to do. Gwaine will enthusiastically go with the flow.
You want to stay at home and play games? He will gladly lose to monopoly, uno, scrabbles, or any board games you want to play.
Gwaine is also a reliable player two in online games and will shout with you when another player is performing poorly.
"How can you miss that shot?!"
"What my love said, you muppet!"
Want to watch a movie? A pillow fort with your favorite movies, snacks, and soda coming right up!
Warning though, if you want to go out and party, don't. As loveable as he is, Gwaine is a party animal who has little self-control. He WILL get drunk before you and you have no choice but to drag his ass back to your home.
Last possible activity? Doing the deed. Might fuck the stress and sadness out of you until all you can remember is how good he made you feel, just saying. Anyways, enjoy! 😚
Tumblr media
Merlin
This sweet baby boy will serve you like a queen, no joke.
Merlin will immediately know you had a bad day as he welcomes you in your shared home, already wrapping his (big and strong🫢) arms around your tired body.
He won't say a word but you'll know that he offers comfort by how tight his hug is, slowly soothing your hair, and gently kissing parts of your face.
"What's wrong, love?"
And boom! Here comes the waterworks. He will let you cry and vent as he leads the two of you on the sofa, lying comfortably there until you are done.
You might even take a short nap. Merlin doesn't care if you covered him with tears, drool, or snot; as long you feel better.
He will wake you up with your favorite home-cooked meal prepared on the table then taking you to the bathroom for a relaxing bath.
There would be scented candles, bath bombs, mellow music, skin care products— the whole nine yards. And no, you don't have to move. Merlin will do everything for you unless you want otherwise.
He will give you a massage on the bed after that, saying words of encouragement and support.
If you ask him to use his magic, he will. He will show you anything you want; from the wonders of the world to the vast beauty of the cosmos.
He hates using his magical abilities on you but as you fall asleep in his arms that night, he whispers a spell that will surely give you good dreams and an even better sleep.
Tumblr media
Arthur
Let's face it, Arthur can be... oblivious at times.
Unlike Merlin and Gwaine, it will take a little longer for him to realize you feel like shit.
The Pendragons are very wealthy, and it sometimes compensates for the other qualities they lack.
He may not be as cheerful as Gwaine or provide you a satisfactory service like Merlin, but he can give you anything you want.
You want to go to another country? The private jet is ready. You don't even have to pack a bag, Arthur will buy new clothes for you.
He will let you choose the hotel you'll be staying in and book all the activities you want to do such as tours in the wildlife, scuba diving, spa days, and many more.
You want comfort food? The best chef in Albion will be brought to your home at once, paid heavily to cook whatever food you fancy.
You want materials things, jewelries and dresses? Even stationery? You got it. Arthur doesn't care how much you spend, he's practically your sugar daddy. 😂
If you just want him by your side, he will let you hug him like a koala bear to a tree and listen to your complains.
However, watch your words or the people you mention. Because Arthur will see to it that they will be dealt with, money comes with influence after all.
"So that's why they are being overly nice to me!"
"No one messes with the love of my life."

Tw: curse words, mentions of allergic reaction and needles
In the Mercedes hospitality, the team and guests were having lunch, trays of food displayed beautifully around a big table as everyone grabbed what they wanted in order to stay fueled for the Qualy afternoon ahead, "Y/N, you have to try these! They're some sort of pastry, you have to try it, they're to die for", Angela said, a tong in hand as you placed your plate forward so she could place the pastry on it. "So Lewis, how are we feeling for today?", you asked, already sat at the table, everyone digging into the food on their plates, "I feel confident we can get in the top 5, the car seemed good yesterday", he said, "that's good, I can't wait to see you! It's been awhile since my last GP", you smiles slightly, things around you turning slightly wobbly, your chest heaving as it got harder and harder to breathe in and out. Lewis noticed it right away, "You okay, Y/N?", earning a shake from your head once you couldn't get your words out, "Angela, grab my bag over there", he said pointing to the back pack on the sofa, "It's okay, I've got your meds here", he said comforting you. As Angela got him his wallet, he pulled out the adrenaline pen you took when this was happening, "There we go, sorry darling", he said, lifting your midi skirt a little bit upwards so he could pin the needle on your skin and inject the liquid in your body. A few minutes passed as you laid against Lewis' chest, eyes closed as you got back to your normal state, breathing back to normal and colour back to your face, "I'm fine, I'm fine, thanks Lew", you said, now appreciating his nagging when he insisted that he was present in the demonstration of how to use your new pen and that he should have one just in case. "Did that have soybeans in it? Because she's allergic to that", Lewis asked, "It's a vegetable pastry, so probably, we'll have to check with the caterer", someone said, "I'm sorry, I didn't know we had people with food allergies today, we're usually careful about it", one of the managers apologised to you. "It's fine, don't worry. I'm good already", you said accepting a glass of a sugary drink as you tried to reassure everyone in the room whose eyes suddenly were on you. After everyone resumed to their meals, you felt okay sitting on your own chair, "You weren't kidding when you said these were to die for", you joked looking at Angela, trying to rid her face of the frown she had, "I'm okay, Angela, there's no way you'd know. Now, please, smile again, will you?", you said holding out your hand so she could grab it, "I'm never recommending food again", she said, letting out a nervous chuckle, "I think Y/N has broken Angela, I've never seen her so quiet", you heard Toto jokingly say. "I'm so sorry Y/N, I really am", she apologised profusely, "I'm fine, honestly! This happens every now and again, it's okay", you said as they resumed their meal. So your best friend carried an epi pen for you, no big deal right? Your heart didn't feel the same, as you felt his worried look on you, checking how you were and making you fall in love with him a little bit more.
"You're sure you're feeling okay? You can go to my room and rest", Lewis said as he fastened his race suit, "I'm fine Lew, I'll sit here if it makes you feel better", you reassured, "yeah, good idea, you sit here", he said as he grabbed a chair for you so you could still watch the screens and have your headphones in. Things were going well for Lewis, qualifying in 4th place and in general feeling hopeful, "Great guys, that was great! I think tomorrow we have a food shot at podium", Lewis heavy breathing was heard through the radio, "thanks guys, thanks team. Also, can anyone tell me how Y/N is?", he asked. One of the engineers flipped you channel in so he could hear you, "I'm fine, already feeling better. I just ate some biscuits too", you told him as everyone smiled at his concern for you, knowing fully well where it all came from.
You were sitting in Lewis' living room, a healthy roast split between the two plates on the coffee table, Roscoe snoozing by your feet and a documentary playing on TV. This was your usual Thursday plan when you both could make it, being a tradition that started at least 4 years ago. "Did I tell you we're doing this showcase for Mercedes on the weekend? It's going to be absolutely insane, they have all these cars to show and interviews too!", Lewis said excitedly, sitting next to you on the sofa and grabbing his plate. "Does it take up the whole weekend?", you asked, wondering wether he had forgotten your new office's launch. You had recently taken a huge step career wise, managing to become and independent worker and essentially your own boss, and the new place you were opening on Friday was having a little celebration with a few friends, family and clients as well as some local press. "I think so, I fly early Friday morning and get back on Sunday night, since we have no race it's easier", Lewis answered.
"So you're not coming to the office launch?", you asked, disappointment clear in your voice as you looked at the TV. You had planned it accordingly to his schedule too so he could attend as well, wanting to have someone you felt so dearly for in this important milestone.
"Ah, shoot. I forgot about it", he said, "I'm sorry, I'll make it up to you, I promise", and you don't know wether it was the insane amount of pressure you were in to succeed on your own or the whole planning, but you burst "do you know how much that meant to me? That you said you were able to come and support me? And you're not gonna be there? I know things get crazy, but you could have told me...". You and Lewis had always been honest with eachother, never letting anything brood over too much and tackling any issues together, talking about them as they came up, and not only did it hurt you because he didn't tell you, but also because he was not going to be there... "Y/N, I'm sorry, I really am. Things at Mercedes are going well now, we can't disappoint sponsors and besides I can pop back in on Monday, I'm sure you'll have a full house on Friday anyway!", he reasoned despite your side, "I go to every race I can, even the ones on the other part of the world and you can't make this arrangement? Don't even bother coming then". And as soon as the words left your mouth, you regretted every single one of them, you were being unfair to him, and mostly, mean without any reason other than wanting him with you. He had his things to do, job demands that couldn't wait and you had always respected them, "Is that how you feel? I have been here day in day out since you started this, every study session, every work proposal, during the signings and this is it? Just because I'm missing one thing? It's not like it's that important", Lewis said, touching a particular subject you both knew too well not to touch. And he knew he had messed up too, knowing how much it meant to you and how other people had failed to support you the way you deserved. "I think this is going too far so I'm going to head home, thanks for dinner", you said getting up and petting Roscoe, heading for the door, a pang on your chest from not hearing a certain voice call your name.
6 am. Lewis and Angela were up and running already, trying to sweat his frustration off, "What's going on wirh you today? Even this is early for us", Angela said trying to catch her breath as the stopped by a park bench, "something you want to share?". Lewis sighed, taking his earbud out, "yesterday I was with Y/N, and I told her about the weekend and she reminded me of her opening and, I don't even know how, but I was so angry with myself when she said that she wanted me there that I just burst out and said awful awful things to her", he said. Angela's jaw could have dropped, she had always known Lewis to be calm and collected, especially when it came to you, "when are you going to tell her? How you truly feel? Have you wondered that maybe you reacted like that because of your feelings for her?", she reasoned. It was no secret to Angela that he had profound feelings for you, and until now he seemed to keep them at bay, "I think it's time you talk to her about it, and apologise to her. She's such a sweet woman and you and I both know she doesn't deserve that", prompting Lewis to think long and hard about how he would take things from then on.
Even though you told Lewis to not bother coming to your opening, you were missing him. Your nerves were needing a pep talk from Lewis saying everything was going to go alright, that there was probably food to feed a whole army and that it all looked lovely, but he wasn't here, making you confirm the idea that your reaction had been a little bit too much. He had never failed you, standing in the crowd when you got your qualifications, holding you when you got negative answers job applications and cheering you on no matter what you did. As you let out a long sigh, you heard your name being called, "Y/N, they're ready for you, it's go time!", your secretary called. Putting on your best face, you remembered your efforts and a rush of pride flooded in, you really had done this, had finally reached where you envisioned yourself all those years ago and you'd be damned if you didn't make 17 year old Y/N proud and enjoy this moment. As you spoke, you ran your eyes through the room, noticing some familiar faces of friends and family, until it landed on a special one. Lewis was here. He came all the way to support you. Smiling as he looked back at you and flashed you one of his smiles. You looked beautiful, the suit he helped you pick looking amazing on your body, your presence in the room and the way you spoke making people hang on to every word, much like he was right now. "I'm here to support my friend in this amazing achievement of hers so if you have any questions about it I'll happily answer but I'm not answering race or car questions today", Lewis said politely as an interviewer questioned him about the latest advances in his car, excusing himself and making his way to grab a bottle of water and look for you after you had finished talking.
"So, you still came", you started, "I didn't thi- thank you for coming, I appreciate it", hugging him, "I missed you so much, I'm sorry I did what I did, it was uncalled for". When Lewis hugged you back, your muscles relaxed, knowing it was all good, "Don't you worry about it angel, I'm sorry too. We both said things we didn't mean", he reasoned, earning a nod from your head that rested on his chest, "we'll talk later about it okay?", you both agreed on.
Everyone had already left, it was just you and Lewis sat in one of the sofas, "Can we talk about it now? I really did not enjoy going to bed knowing we were not talking", you forwarded, "I'm sorry for going about it the way I did, you really didn't deserve this, but why did you say that? I can't lie, it really hurt me. I accept your apologies, you were stressed but was it all from that?", you said looking up. "You really don't see it, do you?", Lewis started, "How I look at you like you hung the stars and the moon just for me, how I get furious everytime some guy comes to you and looks at you like a piece of meat because you're so much more than what's available to the eye, how I always lend you a jacket when you rub your wrists because that's the first thing you do when you start getting cold, how in every room you are in that is where my attention goes, doesn't matter who else is in there", he finished, making you lift your eyes slightly, hoping he was saying what you have been wanting him to say. "You're so kind, selfless, smart and overall amazing, and so beautiful, so gorgeous I can't believe I get to spend my days next to you, damn woman, it's just so hard not to fall in love with you", Lewis sighed, then lifting his head so he could lock your gaze in his. "You fell in love with me?", you braved once your thoughts connected to your voice, earning a chuckle from the driver, "yeah, a long time ago, an I was so mad at myself that I had failed you like some before me, and how I had failed to support you, goodness, I never want to see that disappointment in your face again, let alone caused by me". And your heart jumped truly, no matter how crazy the day had been, all of those years wanting a little bit more from him, refraining from doing so because you didn't want to ruin your friendship.
"I fell for you too. I think I have loved you since I met you almost", you let out, "and I never believed you would reciprocate my feelings. I have watched your from afar getting everyone's attention, talking about failed romances and knowing that I could give you so much more only if you let me".
Grabbing your face with his hands, he nudged your nose in his before you took the chance to press a kiss to his lips, the feeling so much better than any of the times you imagined kissing him, "how about we save this for one of our places, hm? We can catch up on lost time before I go tomorrow, or maybe you can come with me", Lewis said, "was it not cancelled? I thought it was cancelled since you were here", you looked up at him, "I'm only absolutely needed there tomorrow morning apparently, and I needed to make things right with you... so what do you say to a nice first date on the clouds at 6 am?", he cringed slightly. Pressing a final kiss to your lips as the both of you looked at eacother, content with how everything turned out in the end you answered him, "I'll go anywhere at anytime as long as I'm with you".

Prompt: "Every thought I have about you is improper
Thank you so much for the request, I hope you like it!! ❤️❤️
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"(Y/N)." You glanced up at your name being called from Attila's office.
"Coming." You respond, finishing the sentence you were writing before leaving your desk. You approached his desk where he was buried in paperwork like usual.
"I was supposed to be attending a conference with Father Falk this weekend, I'm going to need you to go in my place." He didn't bother to look up from the form he was filling out, a blessing on your end. He wouldn't be able to see your wide eyed, flustered gaze.
"Does, um… Is Father Falk aware of this?" He shook his head. "And the rest of the high clergy?"
"They all already have prior engagements." You nod. You stood there in silence for a moment, searching for any last ditch attempt at escaping. "What are you not telling me?" Now you were in trouble, he had a knack for knowing when you weren't being fully honest with him. Attila set his pen down, giving you his full, undivided attention. "Has Father Falk treated you poorly?"
"Oh, no, it's nothing like that." You should have just accepted his request and left. Attila always had a way of prying your deepest secrets out of you, and now was no different. Your best option was trying to skirt around the root of the problem until you could find a way to slink off. "Father Falk has never been anything but kind towards me. You've known him much longer than I have, I'm sure you're aware that he's a perfect gentleman." You chuckle awkwardly, a memory of Falk holding a door open for you flashed through your mind. His kind eyes, bright smile, and gentle voice. You felt yourself starting to sweat. You swallowed thickly, trying to force a smile into your face. Attila raised an eyebrow at you, noticing your flustered demeanor in an instant.
"I see." He gives you a knowing smirk. Shit. He waves you on, "if you have any questions about your duties this weekend I'm sure Falk will have no issue answering them for you." You nod, politely dismissing yourself. "Oh, and (Y/N)..." You freeze, "try and relax." He chuckles softly as you flit out the door. You made your way down to Falk's office, knuckles tentatively knocking against the door frame.
"Ah, (Y/N), what a pleasant surprise." He studies you for a moment under his kind gaze. You notice him glance at the clock on the wall. "I would like to warn you I do have to leave shortly, but what can I help you with, my dear?"
"Father Attila sent me, I guess I'm going in his place for the conference." You found yourself nervously swaying on your heels, far more focused on the floor than the man sitting in front of you.
"Oh good, I was worried I was going to end up going by myself." He chuckles softly. "Well, I suggest you bring formal attire, we usually get invited to a lot of dinners. We'll leave in about an hour." You hurried back to your room to pack, not wanting to keep him waiting. You sighed as you shrugged on your backpack, dragging your other suitcase behind you. You jumped back slightly as you opened the door, being greeted with the image of Falk standing there preparing to knock on your door.
“Oh God, am I late?” You ask frantically, checking the time.
“Not at all!” He rushes to reassure you, wildly waving his hands as if to brush off any remaining anxiety. “I just wanted to help with your bags, it’s a long walk down to the garage.” He chuckles, you feel your shoulders relax. He moves cautiously, not wanting to startle you any further. He takes your suitcase, the two of you walking in silence down the hallway. "Are you nervous?" He tries to break up the silence with a single question.
"A little." You chuckle. "Every time I've had to go to one of these conferences it's always been as a mediator. I'm sure you're well aware, but Father Attila has a tendency to be a bit abrasive." Falk laughs and nods.
"That's one way to put it." He glances over at you, eyes trailing over your frame for a moment. "I'm glad he asked you to go in his place, I couldn't have asked for better company." You blush, smiling down at the ground to hopefully hide your bashful expression.
"It'll be nice to spend some time with you as well, Father Falk." You loaded your bags into his car and set out on your way. You kept to yourself mostly during the ride there, you and Falk on friendly enough terms to be comfortable around him but you didn't have the slightest idea what to talk to him about. Everyone always marveled over the fact that you spoke with Attila effortlessly, they seem to neglect the fact that you had been his assistant for the better part of a decade in order to reach the level of comfortability the two of you had together. You reached for the radio, wanting at least something to break up the silence in the car. You jumped slightly as Falk's hand collided with yours. Your eyes snapped in his direction, worried he would be upset with you. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-" Your voice trailed off at the sight of his gentle gaze studying your face
"Great minds think alike, huh?" He chuckles, motioning for you to continue. You hesitantly reached out for the radio, taking one final glance up at him to make sure it was really okay before selecting a station. You picked something you felt like you could mutually agree on before allowing yourself to sink back into the warm leather of the car. You noticed a puzzled expression cross his features, "this is what you normally listen to?" You shake your head with a giggle.
"No, but I won't make you suffer through my music." You joke.
"Well then, how am I supposed to learn anything about you?" He asks with a small smirk, the mischievous glint in his eye impossible to miss.
"You could always just ask me." You turned yourself slightly in your seat to face him. "I'm not that scary, am I?"
"Scary? No. Pretty enough to make me forget how to string a proper sentence together? Absolutely." You watched as his eyes widened slightly, the realization that he had just said that out loud rapidly setting in. "Sorry."
"There's no need to apologize, I'm flattered that you think I'm pretty." You both sat in silence for a moment.
Falk cleared his throat, "so, are you more of a dog or a cat person?" You can't help but laugh at the question. You watch a smile creep across his lips, "what?"
"Nothing, I just didn't expect that to be the first question you asked me." You let your head lull to the side to look at him. You don't think you had ever seen him in casual clothes, and it was definitely a sight you could get used to. "I'd say I'm probably more of a dog person." He breathes out a laugh as he nods.
"Good answer." The two of you went back and forth asking questions for pretty much the whole car ride. You were honestly a bit shocked to discover just how much the two of you had in common. You pulled up to the inn you would be staying in, the car filled with the jovial sounds of laughter and excited conversations. "Father, welcome back." The plump old woman at the check in counter greets Falk with a bright smile.
"Happy to be back Esther." He motions to you. "This is Father Attila's assistant, (Y/N), she'll be staying with me this weekend." Esther looks between the two of you.
"Oh goodness. Well, I would just like to let you know that the room you booked for only had one bed." She grimaces slightly as she informs you.
"Are there any rooms available with two beds?" You noticed him pale slightly as she shook her head.
"Unfortunately we're in the height of tourist season right now, we're full up I'm afraid." She ponders over your options for a moment. "It looks like all of our cots are already in use as well… your room has a couch, maybe that's something? I'm incredibly sorry Father, I wish there was more than I could do. I'd be more than happy to give you a refund if you'd like to try booking elsewhere-"
"Nonsense, Esther, we've been coming here for years, we want to give you our business." He smiles warmly at her. "We'll work with the couch, don't worry." He pats the desk, trying his best to reassure her that it was fine. You lug your bags up to the room. It was surprisingly spacious for an inn; fresh white linens matched the curtains that billowed in the breeze of the open balcony door, a small seating area with a couch and two matching chairs occupied one corner of the room. You jumped slightly as Falk rested a hand on your shoulder, "you make yourself comfortable, I'll take the couch."
"Oh, Father, I can take the couch, it's really no problem." You could tell by the expression he was giving you that there was absolutely no changing his mind. "Are you really sure? You should be well rested for the conference."
"I'll be just fine." He gently pats your head with a smile as he walks past you. "And, (Y/N)?" You give him a hum of affirmation. "It's just Falk." He chuckles.
"Right," you grimaced slightly, remembering all the times he had tried to correct you out of using honorifics with him, "sorry." He smirks slightly as he sets up some of his work on the small table. You sit on the couch next to him, letting the warm air wash over you from the outside. "This place is really nice."
"We've been coming here for years, Esther used to attend our church actually. Not to mention, since it is tourist season for them, they set off fireworks on Friday's which we can see from our room." He breathes out a laugh at your excited expression, eyes studying your features for another moment. "Would it be alright if I took you out to dinner tonight?"
You nod, giving him a bashful smile. "I'd like that." After finishing up some paperwork the two of you got ready. Dressed in your finest formal attire Falk brought you to one of the nicest restaurants in town. It was beautiful, but the atmosphere felt stiff compared to what you were used to. You felt like everyone in the room could tell that you didn't come from a lavish background and it honestly made you feel a little self conscious. You set down your menu with a sigh, nervously fidgeting with the edge of the tablecloth. You glanced up only to see Falk peering over his glasses at you. He sets down his menu, stopping your waiter as he passes by. He explains that the two of you had gotten called away to handle an emergency so you would be giving up your table, tipping the man before motioning for you to follow him. You eye him curiously as the two of you leave the restaurant.
"It was a bit stuffy in there, don't you think?" A soft smile creeps its way across your lips as he offers you his arm. "I think I have a better idea." It was obvious that Falk new this town like the back of his hand, weaving through streets and across a park until the overly serious tone of the fancy part of town subsided, giving way to a beachfront paradise that was filled with laughter, pings and whirrs of the boardwalk arcade and the bright flashing lights of the midway that seemed to stretch out endlessly before you. "Come on, let's go have some fun." Your hand slipped into his effortlessly as the two of you darted off into the crowd. Your night was filled with fried food, sweet treats, and excellent company with Falk by your side. You couldn't help but laugh as he handed you over the biggest cloud of cotton candy you had ever seen.
"You know, you really didn't have to do all of this." You were drawn in by his soft gaze, having him look at you the way was, he made you feel like you were the only two people in the universe.
"I never get to do things like this with you, I want to make the most of it." Warm fingers brushed across your cheek, carefully readjusting some stray hair that had wandered into your face. You felt your cheeks grow warm at the sensation of his touch, undoubtedly a blushing mess before him. You continue down the midway, Falk chuckling at the sight of people staring at your vastly overdressed appearance. The two of you strolled to the end of the boardwalk, leaning on the rail to look over the ocean below. The moon skirted just above the horizon, the energetic sounds of the midway fading away to the quiet lapping of the waves against the posts. “I’m glad to see you’ve relaxed a little.” He smiles at you
“You’re very…” you pondered for a moment to think of the right word to use. “Easy to be around.” You shifted slightly, your hand brushing against his. He hooks his pinky with yours, both of you silently staring ahead in hopes the other wouldn’t notice your flustered expression.
“Can I tell you something?” You give him an affirming hum, hand slowly drifting on top of his, you carefully pushing your fingers through his. "Getting to spend today with you was… incredible.” He chuckles nervously, his breath shaky as he lets out. You smile, shifting closer to him.
“Falk?” You say his name softly, eliciting a hum from him. “I’m really happy I get to be here with you.” He gives your hand a gentle squeeze. He glances down at you, a tender fondness in his gaze. His eyes drift down to your lips, warm breath bouncing off your skin. You slowly straighten yourself up, lips barely out of reach of his own. Your eyes meet his once more, an almost expectant expression on your face. You wanted Falk to kiss you more than anything else, all of the small lingering touches and flirtatious comments over your time of knowing him building up an impeccable sense of want for the man that stood before you. He clears his throat, turning back to look out over the water, not wanting to accidentally take things too far. You shivered in the cool ocean breeze, goosebumps forming on your skin. A warm arm wraps itself around your shoulder.
“Come on, before you freeze.” He offers you a chuckle and a kind smile, allowing you to snuggle into his side as the two of you lazily made your way back to his car. The drive back to the inn was mostly silent, a slight sting in your chest as you thought about how you would have liked this night to play out. “I’m sorry if I made things awkward.” He states quietly, eyes focused on the road before him.
“You didn’t.” You tried to reassure him. “I had a really nice time today." You watch him hesitantly reach out, fingers trembling slightly as they ghost over your skin. You take his hand in yours, feeling his muscles relax at your touch.
“I meant what I said back there, I can't remember the last time I've had so much fun.” He swallowed thickly, forcing out a nervous chuckle “I’m sure you don’t remember the first day we met, but I haven’t been able to keep you out of my mind since that day.” You let out a chuckle, you remember that day well. You had just started as Attila’s assistant, a position you were beyond nervous to take on. You had gotten them both drinks while they were having a meeting in his office only for you to spill Falk’s drink all over him. You were too stunned and embarrassed to speak. You felt tears start to prick at your eyes, your mouth moving but no sounds seemed to be coming out. Falk laughed, standing up and giving you a soft pat on the top of your head. “Trust me, a little spilt water isn’t anything to fuss over.” The second your eyes met his, you were lost in them, warm brown irises stared back into yours with a gentleness you had never experienced first hand. He takes your hand, giving it a firm shake. “Falk." It took you a moment to find your voice.
“(Y/N)," you introduce yourself. Snapping yourself from your hypnotized state you started to panic all over again, "I am so sorry about this Father, would you like me to get you a towel?” He waves you off with a grin.
“Don’t trouble yourself, I’ll be alright.” You hadn’t forgotten his smile even years later, the same smile that was ghosting over his lips now. “You walked in wearing that cute little sundress you used to wear all the time, the one with the sunflowers all over it. I don’t know if you noticed but I couldn’t keep my eyes off of you the second you walked in the room.” He chuckles.
“I was so embarrassed.” You hide your face in your hands, both of you struggling to contain your laughter. “I still haven’t lived that down." Your shoulder pressed against his as the two of you turned into the inn's parking lot. He gives your hand a gentle squeeze. You breathe out a laugh, "you were always so kind, even before we got to know each other… it's one of the things I like so much about you." The two of you shared a bashful grin before heading inside. You sat on the edge of the bed, smoothing out the plush comforter under your fingers as you watched Falk set up the couch for the night. "I really don't mind swapping with you." You state bluntly. He turns to you with a smile as he drops a pillow on one end of the couch.
"You know I'm not going to let you do that." He approaches you slowly, kneeling down in front of you so he can meet your eyes. "I'll be just fine, try and get some rest, we have a big day tomorrow." A warm hand cups your cheek, thumb languidly running over your skin. You nodded, giving him a soft smile before the two of you reluctantly part for the night. Your gaze drifted over to Falk, body haphazardly sprawled out, the sound of his quiet snoring filling the room, after hours of tossing and turning you finally noticed the welcomed heavy feeling of sleep settling behind your eyes. You drifted off into a dreamless sleep only to be awoken the next morning by the smell of coffee filling the room. You rolled over with a tired grumble, pushing your bed head haphazardly out of your face, keeping yourself buried in the bed's soft comforter. You rolled over to be met with the sight of Falk studying you, a gentle smile on his lips, reading glasses perched on the bridge of his nose, two cups of coffee sat before him on the table next to his folded up newspaper.
"Mornin'." You mumble, still processing being awake.
"Good morning." Falk can't help but chuckle at your disheveled state. "I brought you some coffee. You looked so peaceful I didn't want to disturb you." He picks up both cups, sitting on the edge of the bed. You take the warm mug in your hands, locking eyes with Falk as you bring it to your lips. Your nose reflexively scrunched up at the taste. "Not enough sugar?" You shake your head, he chuckles. "I'll keep that in mind for next time." He couldn't keep his eyes off you, his gaze held nothing short of pure adoration for the sight before him.
"How'd you sleep?" You set the mug on your nightstand, pulling your knees to your chest as you sit and talk with him.
"I slept just fine, the couch is surprisingly comfortable." He smiles despite the fact you knew he was lying. You could see the stiffness in his movements, the shifting of his position to try and subside the full ache in his body. He gently tilts your chin up with his index finger, "I know that look, I'm fine, I promise." You nod.
"You're staring." You point out with a grin.
"Sorry." He lets out a bashful chuckle. "I just can't get over how beautiful you look right now." You blushed, laughing quietly as your gaze fell to your lap. The two of you sat and drank your coffee, quietly discussing the day ahead events. "I can't even begin to tell you how insufferable this man is, but try to grin and bear it the best you can. We mainly do business with his son, unfortunately this time he has to come in his son's place." He explains about the meeting you were currently getting ready to attend.
"Falk, you know my job is just to sit there and look pretty." You tease, he chuckles.
"If I remember correctly you have quite the sharp tongue, Schatz." You catch his gaze in the reflection of the mirror. A slight smirk on his lips, he definitely wasn't wrong. It was fairly often that you would get chastised by father Attila for your blunt attitude and quick wit.
"I'll be on my best behavior." You smile, causing him to laugh. You hadn't expected that to be such a difficult promise to keep. You sat in the chair next to Falk, smiling through gritted teeth as the man on the opposing side of the desk cut off your train of thought for what must have been the tenth time in the last hour. You saw Falk’s eyes drift down to your hand, your pen about to crack in half you had such a tense grip on it. You hadn’t been able to get a single word in since the two of you arrived. You sat in the chair at Falk’s side, posture absolutely rigid as you struggled to hold your tongue. The three of you stood, Falk placing a hand on the small of your back to guide you towards the door. The second you were out of earshot of the man you began to complain. “I’ll never understand why it’s a necessity that I go to these meetings when I won’t be able to get a word in edgewise.”
“I warned you he was going to be difficult.” Falk reminds you with a chuckle. You fell into the passenger seat with a groan, slumping down in the seat. “You did a great job.”
“I didn’t do anything.” You rebuttal.
“You didn’t need to. You simply needed to gain experience dealing with difficult clients, which you succeeded in doing.” You nodded, he did have a point. “I don’t know about you but I think we earned the rest of the night off.” He offers with a smirk. You found yourselves sitting across from each other on the bed in your room, eating chinese food straight out of the container, an amused expression on Falk’s face as he listened to you ramble on about nothing in particular, he just enjoyed listening to the sound of your voice.
“What’s that look for?” You question him with a smirk.
He shakes his head, “it’s nothing… it’s just nice watching you finally open up.” You look away with a flustered expression. It felt almost effortless to be around Falk, his presence alone enough to put you completely at ease. Before you had a chance to respond you were cut off by the sounds of fireworks going off outside. Falk grabs your hand, tugging you in the direction of the balcony door. An arm slips around your waist as the two of you step out into the night. Bright bursts of blues, greens, and golds popped across the inky black sky. Your eyes widened, childlike amazement taking over your features. “I can’t tell you how happy I am that you’re here with me.” Your body moved before you had a chance to think. Your arms slid over Falk’s shoulders, guiding his lips down to meet yours. His hands rested firmly on your waist, a surprised yet satisfied hum escaping him. Your mind finally caught up with your actions you suddenly pull back, fingers flying up to your lips in pure disbelief that you had just done that
“Falk, I am so sorry.” You desperately scrambled out an apology. “I don’t know what came over me.” Before you had a chance to panic even further his lips were on yours once again. One hand laced its way into your hair, the other securing itself around your back to keep you pressed close to him. Your fingers slid into his soft hair, deepening the kiss as much as you could. Both of you part with a breathless sigh.
“You have no idea how long I’ve wanted to do that.” He says through a quiet chuckle. You wave a sarcastic, chastising finger at him.
“And here I thought you would know better than to give into improper thoughts.” You can’t help but giggle as he looms over your much smaller form.
“Schatz, every thought I have about you is improper.” You’re met with a toothy grin and a devious look in Falk’s eye. You let out a startled squeak as you’re suddenly lifted from the ground, Falk’s arms slipping behind your thighs and guiding your legs around his waist. His lips trapped yours in another mind numbing kiss, both of you laughing as he drops you on the mattress. Hot breath trailed down your neck, goosebumps littering your skin at his slightest touch. His hands slid under your shirt, successfully pushing up the fabric in the process until he was easily able to pull it off over your head. You situated yourself on your knees, hurriedly undoing the buttons of his shirt. His lips ghost over yours, a smirk crossing his features as he keeps himself just out of reach. He sits at your side, wrapping an arm around your waist and guiding you to straddle his lap as you haphazardly push the clothing off of his shoulders, fingers trailing down his exposed chest. You looked at your trembling hand, unsure if there was some sort of unspoken line you shouldn't cross. Falk's hand completely engulfs yours, eyes snapping to his in an instant. "We don't have to keep going if you don't want to." He says in a gentle, reassuring tone.
"It's not that I don't want to, it's just…" he raises a curious eyebrow at you. If you were being completely honest all of this was a bit overwhelming. You'd be lying if you said you hadn't dreamed about what this moment would be like, your late night fantasies were often filled with the thought of Falk. But now that this moment was no longer a figment of your imagination you didn't have the slightest idea where to begin. "I think I might be a little nervous." You let out a flustered giggle. Strong fingers kneaded at your thighs, a patient smile resting on his lips.
"There's nothing wrong with being nervous, Schatz. Just try to relax and let me take care of you, think you can do that for me?" You nod, relinquishing full control over to him. He carefully grabs your wrist, pressing the hand that was barely grazing over his skin flush against his chest. You felt the steady rhythm of his heartbeat thrum under your palm. He lifted your chin slightly with his knuckle, golden brown eyes locked intently on your own. You felt him fumbling with the zipper on your skirt, he breathed out a laugh. "See? You're not the only one that's nervous." He jokes with a chuckle. You felt your body relax at the sight, you felt safe with him. You help him with the zipper, shimmying out of your skirt. You can't help but smirk slightly, noticing his eyes completely glued to the sight of your ass finally being freed from the right confines of your clothing. He reaches out for you, a delighted squeal passing your lips as he playfully pushes you onto the bed. You bite your lip, fully entranced by the sight of him crawling on top of you to give you some much needed attention. You gasp at the feeling of his teeth grazing over your exposed skin before he got to work biting and sucking what you were positive were going to be deep purple bruises come tomorrow morning.
"Fuck." You tossed your head back against the mattress, you could feel him smirk as he relentlessly toyed with a rather sensitive spot of your body. A sinful groan tumbled from his lips as he ground his hips against yours, a noticeable bulge pressed against your already soaked core. A hand slipped between your legs, rubbing slow, languid circles around your clit that had you mewling and shuddering beneath him. Your breath hitched as he effortlessly slipped a finger between your velvety folds, giving your aching cunt a moment of relief. He watched your expression carefully, paying close attention to how you responded to his expert fingers. You felt a knot beginning to form in your stomach, rapidly winding itself tighter, bringing you right to the brink of your climax. You whined as he pulled out of you, growing need pooling endlessly in your core, the feeling only growing stronger as the threat of your orgasm subsided. You watched with wide eyes as he slipped the digit into his mouth, reveling at the taste of your juices on his tongue. You felt your cheeks heat up at the sight, unable to look away as he smirks down at you.
"So wet for me already," he chuckles darkly, "such a good little Maus I have." Whatever was left of the clothing he was wearing was quickly discarded, the feeling of him teasing the tip of his hardened length at your entrance sending a shiver of anticipation through your body. The two of you engaged in a silent conversation, letting Falk know that you were absolutely ready for anything he had in store for you. Your cried out as he slowly pushed himself inside of you, a slight sting from him stretching you out. You felt every inch of him enter you at his agonizing pace. He grabs your jaw, your gaze snapping back to meet his in an instant. "Eyes on me Maus." Your head was already spinning, a smile dominating your lips as you struggled to follow his orders. He gradually began to pick up his pace, every snap of his hips eliciting desperate, feverish moans as you dug your nails into his back. Your voice harmonized with his, low gravelly groans that only made your body hotter the longer you listened to them. "Sheiße." He curses under his breath, a bead of sweat rolled down his forehead, his strokes gradually losing their relentless rhythm. Your lips found his, taking the plump flesh between your teeth in a quick nip that sent a shiver down Falk's spine. He straightened himself up from his position on top of you, grabbing your hips roughly and slamming into you, determined to make you finish before he did.
"Falk… please…" You gasp out breathlessly, your mind numb with pleasure but it still wasn't enough to send your orgasm crashing over the edge. His fingers were back on your clit in an instant, soft spoken words of praise only adding to your dizzying headrush. He leans down, kissing you deeply as the ever tightening knot in your stomach finally snaps. You let out a muffled scream against his lips, your back arching up off the bed, your chest pressed flush against his. His thrusts became sloppy, any semblance of a rhythm gone as he let his own climax wash over him, both of you collapsing in bed next to each other, the sounds of your labored breathing filling the otherwise silent room. You felt a wet sob start to bubble up in your throat, tears pricking at your eyes as you came down from your high, various thoughts and feelings racing through your mind left you entirely overwhelmed. You sucked in a breath in an attempt to steady yourself, but Falk already noticed that something was wrong.
"Schatz? What's wrong? I didn't hurt you, did I?" You shook your head, knowing that if you tried to speak you would just end up crying. He pulls you into his chest, rubbing your back soothingly.
"I'm sorry, just give me a second." You tried to force a laugh.
"Take all the time you need, I'm not going anywhere." He holds you close, skin sticking to his in a tangled mess of limbs.
"You're not going to… stop speaking to me when we get back to the Abbey, are you?" Memories of past situationships blared in your mind, planting a seed of doubt in you. In the past it was always the same. Someone would make you believe they loved you only for them to leave once they got what they wanted.
"Of course not sweetheart." He places a soft kiss on your forehead. "Unfortunately you're stuck with me now." He chuckles. You smile, breathing out a laugh as you place a kiss to his collarbone. He clears his throat, shifting nervously. "I think I might be in love with you." He states quietly, his voice shaking in a way that was impossible to miss.
"Yeah?" You smile up at him, resting your chin on his chest. "How do you know?" The two of you exchange a bashful grin.
"Four years ago…" he starts his story, mulling over the details for a moment before continuing. "You were making some huge spectacle because Attila did something to piss you off." You laughed, that definitely sounded like something you would do. "You left the Abbey, you said you were going to some concert and you were going to stay the night at a friend's place or something. I don't remember all the details." He began playing with your hair, twisting a strand between his fingers. "You called me at one in the morning in hysterics asking if I could come pick you up. The entire way there I wasn't thinking about how tired I was or about the three hours drive ahead of me. The only thing that I could think of was whether or not you were safe, if anything had happened to you there would have been hell to pay when I got there. When I pulled up… and you rushed into my arms… and I just got the chance to hold you. I think that was when I knew." You place a soft kiss to his chest before nuzzling your face against him.
"I felt so bad asking you to drive all that way." You laugh quietly. You trace your fingers over the intricate tattoos on his arms before resting your hand on the side of his face, languidly running your thumb across his cheek. "I love you, Falk."
"I love you too, Schatz." He returns the confession with a smile, pulling you into a lingering kiss before the two of you drifted off in each other's arms.
i can’t have you gone. i need you here. michael!
" i can't have you gone . i need you here . "
-- [ asked by @trapton ] --
"Could've fooled me," Michael couldn't help but scoff. "You've been giving me a real different impression just about my whole life. So what's your excuse this time?"
He didn't pause in his efforts to pack his bag, not turning to look at where his father stood in the doorway with his arms crossed, not giving him the time of day — this guilt trip wasn't working. Wouldn't work. Not if he had any say in it. "Let me guess. You need someone to take over the business when you're gone. Need someone to take care of you when you're old and frail and can't do it yourself. Or are you just scared of being alone? Which one is it?" Couldn't hold his tongue. Never could. A trait both inherited from and despised by his father.
"I'm leaving. End of story. You can't stop me. And you shouldn't try, because that'll just make sure I'm never coming back." He needed out of this house. Needed to clear his head. Being around his father for too long was driving him insane. He needed a break before he did something stupid.
Maybe he'd see if Henry'd take him in for a week or two. Or if one of his classmates could tolerate him enough to let him crash on their couch. Hell, he'd rather risk life on the streets than stay here. Zipping up his bag, he turned to face his father. "Count yourself lucky I'm not skipping town. And that I'm bothering to tell you I'm not. So you won't worry — if you're even capable of it." Brave words, coming from him. He was absolutely boiling over with poorly-contained anger at this point. Could hardly even remember what had prompted this, anymore — probably some stupid-ass argument like they were always having. All he knew was that he had to get out. Had to put distance between himself and William before one of them snapped.
"Just let me go. Don't make this worse than it already is."
Tumblr media
summary: Fred Weasley was definitely good at one thing, and that was pulling people out of their shell, and when he takes a particular liking to you, will he manage to do the same?
category: Fred Weasley X shy!fem!reader
Tumblr media
You were so bloody quiet. Annoyingly so. Endearingly, annoyingly so. It drove Fred insane. He could remember the first time he realised he fancied you. At first, it felt so juvenile. Just a mere third year noticing a quiet girl in his potions class, eyes glued to her textbook as she scribbled down notes like her life depended on it. George had teased him mercilessly that day, but he barely even took notice of his brothers jesting, his ears yearned to hear your voice. But that was the thing, you barely spoke. In nearly every way you were polar opposites. Fred was loud and rowdy, you were reserved and you calculated every single word you did speak, which wasn't very many.
Watching from afar, Fred took a deep breath. You tucked a piece of hair behind your ear, your eyes scanning the book that rested in your palms. He had planned today to try converse with you, or at the very least get you to laugh. He was good at making people laugh, it was one of the things he prided himself on, and he was sure your laugh would top them all.
Taking a deep breath, Fred took big strides towards you. He was a sixth year now this should be a piece of cake. You were currently tucked away in the far corner of the library, clearly trying to get some alone time. Thoughts raced around Fred's head as he got closer and closer, what if you just got up and left? Or worse finally did speak but said something along the lines of piss off Weasley.
Finally standing opposite you, Fred cleared his throat to try and grab your attention. The noise startled you so much, that you literally leapt out of your seat and landed on the floor. His eyes widened as he instantly crouched down muttering several, almost inaudible apologies. If he wasn't so caught up in trying to help you back into your seat, Fred would notice how just by seeing his face your eyes had lit up like the moon.
"Again I'm so sorry... I just um... wondered what you were reading..." he poorly lied, rubbing the back of his neck with a weak nervous grin.
"Lord of the flies..." you quietly muttered. In fact, if Fred wasn't completely devoted to hearing you, he probably wouldn't have even made out the words you whispered.
"Oh, nice... nice..."
An extremely awkward silence followed as you did everything to not look up at his wide brown eyes full of longing.
"You're in my potions class aren't you?" Fred questioned knowing the answer already, but struggling to let go of the conversation made it the first logical thing that fell to his lips.
A small nod and your eyes met. It seemed something shifted then, the nerves that were clear in your furrowed brow seemed to melt away as you retained eye contact and decided to speak. This was unusual.
"Yes... yes, I am... don't you sit beside Adrien pucey?" You asked softly.
"Yes god don't remind me..."
Another awkward silence... but then the most beautiful sound Fred had ever heard. Your laugh. It wasn't just a little giggle, it was hearty and could almost resemble a cackle. It was perfect. Fred sensed embarrassment as you cut yourself off after a few seconds, your brain sending waves of hot shame all down your body.
"Sorry I... sorry I should get going-" you stumbled over your words and grabbed your bag attempting to pack away your things as quickly as possible, your eyes remaining glued to the floor.
"NO...Uh... I mean no please don't apologise... you don't have anything to apologise for..." Fred exclaimed, his pale freckled cheeks staining a nice pink shade.
Yet again you looked up at him and that crease between your eyebrows that made you look permanently worried smoothed out again. Confidence arose in Fred as he realised whenever you'd look at him, like really look into his eyes, all of the anxiety that seemed to trouble you washed away like the black lake’s calm ripples.
"Look y/n I lied to you I didn't come over here to see what you were reading... I actually wanted to ask you if you'd like to hang out sometime..." Fred powered through and finished his admission with a steady breath awaiting your reply.
Your face seemed to soften ever so slightly. And Fred could tell you were thinking about how you were going to form this sentence, it pained him to see somebody so introverted, they didn't just say what they wanted. Fred didn't know many people like that. By extension of his overly loud family, he only knew other loud people. You were so different, it intrigued him thoroughly.
"Alone...?" You finally whispered, "This may come as a surprise but I don't necessarily do well with people..."
Fred coughed out a laugh at your use of sarcasm, which he knew was the right move when your lips curled into the most precious smile he had ever seen "Yes alone... we could do whatever you want... I'd even read a novel if it meant spending an afternoon in your company..."
After the words left his mouth he regretted them instantly, way to come on strong Fred. But his impromptu confession seemed to have worked in his favour as your smile grew wider, he could practically feel the blush radiating from your cheeks.
"Okay... well there's a nice spot by the black lake... I uh... I don't have plans tomorrow..." you implored.
"Tomorrow is perfect... I'll meet you by the courtyard at one?" Fred offered smiling wider as you nodded in reply. This was definitely a start.
Tumblr media
Over the coming weeks, Fred did everything in his power to make you feel as comfortable as possible. At first, it was sort of awkward, but just like before, every time the two of you would share glances, the conversation seemed to pick up.
If Fred wasn't whipped before he sure was now. He learnt quickly that when you got going, you could talk for England. His favourite time of day was listening to you ramble about the most random things, ensuring to reassure you that no apologies were necessary and you were simply making his day brighter with all the knowledge you shared.
Making you laugh became a task he'd try and complete at least once a day. Whether it was dyeing Snape's robes pink or making Flitwick's desk chair extra high so he couldn't reach, Fred would watch in anticipation to see if you were laughing. He noticed how that unreserved cackle didn't make an appearance in public, but seeing you try and stifle it counted as a win in his book.
Although the two of you had grown closer in recent weeks, Fred still hadn't made any attempt at hinting he had romantic feelings for you. Every time he nearly spewed it out, he got distracted and asked something dumb like what's your favourite number? Idiot.
Today however he would tell you how he felt. How? Well, he hadn't thought that far ahead yet, but he knew he had too soon, or it would eat him alive. You had actually suggested meeting at the top of the astronomy tower, which was as always away from everyone else, just how you liked it.
Fred got to the tower just after you and smiled at the view before him. There you sat, book in hand as the breeze blew the hair from your face, you were a vision. Stopping himself gawking, Fred took gentle steps towards you until you finally heard him approaching. Just like always, the interaction started awkwardly, the insecurities that plagued you held you from talking, but after a few jokes were cracked you were rambling just how he liked.
“…And then McGonagall decided she wanted us to do group projects and I had to watch Lee Jordan try and transfigure my tie into a flower… when really he managed to turn it into a bloody-“
Now, as much as Fred wanted to know what lee had done, the temptation to kiss you had become too overwhelming and boy did your soft lips feel incredible on his own. Fred soon noticed that you weren’t really kissing him back, the ginger pulled away and your eyes were wide as saucers. Did you really still not believe he liked you?
“Do it again…”
Now his eyes mimicked yours.
“Pardon?”
Now ever since knowing you, the expression you pulled was one he had never seen before, and it made him practically go feral. You held a smirk akin to his own when he was feeling particularly confident, like when he knew exactly what he wanted. And in this case the thing you wanted was sitting right in front of you.
“Kiss me again Weasley…”
And so, he did. Oh, Merlin he did.
Taken- JJ Maybank
Request: hi ! I was wondering if you’d be interested in doing 111, 131 & 160 with jj - his best friend gets kidnapped by the two dudes who were looking for the compass at john bs place & he has to find a way to get her back? 💖
Tumblr media
(Not my gif, credit to the owner!)
Summary: You've been taken by the square groupers and JJ is anxious to get you back.
Word count: 2,484
Warnings: Kidnapping, violence, crying, fear, abuse, cursing, mentions of bruises and blood, angst and fluff.
Prompts:
111. “I’ll kill you, you sick bastard. I’ll kill you, you’re a fucking monster who deserves to die.”
131: “If I wanted you dead, this room would be a lot quieter.”
160: “Stop fighting!”
"Hey, has anyone heard from Y/N? I tried calling her to invite her to come surfing with us but she never picked up or texted me back." JJ said to the Pogues, walking back to John B's from the beach. His friends checked their phones, all of them shaking their heads.
"I mean you know her, she's either asleep or painting something outside. But we gotta go get her anyway if we're gonna go eat at The Wreck." John B suggested already walking to his van. JJ sat in the back of the van, an odd feeling in his stomach. Pushing back the feeling, he relaxed into the seat.
A quick five minute drive went by before they arrived at your house. Your car was still in the driveway, your parents not home due to them working. They walked through the front door, they stopped in their steps as they took in the sight in front of them.
The couch and dining room table was flipped over, papers and small objects scattered the floor. There was a hole in the wall next to the front door. Broken plates and bowls were shattered all over the kitchen floor. JJ ran down the hallway into your room to see it completely destroyed as well.
Photos of you and the Pogues were torn apart, your bed was flipped to the side, some clothes were splayed on the floor. JJ stood there like a deer caught in headlights. Pope, John B, and Kie joined his side, all of their jaws fell open. "Holy shit." Pope muttered. JJ walked towards your dresser to see a poorly handwritten note.
'This is your warning.' JJ slammed his fists down against the wood, "damn it! God fucking damn it!" He yelled, his face now red with anger and fear. The Square Groupers had gotten to you, kidnapping you to warn John B and his friends that they were not messing around.
JJ fell to his knees, his hands picking up a ripped up picture of the Pogues, all of them were smiling and genuinely happy. Now, if you took a look at someone in the group, everybody looked desperate and broken.
__________________
You woke up, your mind groggy and your body ached in pain. The last thing you remember was a rag being smacked over your mouth before darkness took over. You attempted to push the hair out of your face, however the tight feeling of a rope was wrapped around your wrists. You turned your head, noticing the dark and abandoned room you were sitting in.
Your mind felt like a static TV, it was functioning however you couldn't focus on anything. Fear flooded your veins as you connected the dots, remembering the square groupers attacked you in your house. You groaned out in pain, the sound being muffled by a piece of duct tape covering your mouth. Heavy footsteps marched down a small staircase, one of the men walking up to you with a water bottle in his hand.
"If I take this off of you are you gonna scream?" You shook your head no. In this short period of time, you had the option of fighting against a man whose way stronger than you, or doing what you're told in hopes that they don't kill you regardless. The man titled the water bottle up towards your lips, your body melting as the liquid hit your tongue.
"Alright. Tell me what you know about the compass." "I don't know." You lied through your teeth. "I said what do you know about the compass?" He raised his voice, making you flinch for a moment. "I said, I don't fucking know!" You fought back however you resisted, making him furious. He hooked his arm back before his fist collided with the side of your face.
You yelped in pain, panting as your mouth began to taste the metallic trait of blood. He crouched down to your level. "You know, if I wanted you dead, this room would be a lot quieter.” He taped over your mouth and marched back upstairs, leaving you to pray that The Pogues would come find you.
_____________________
JJ paced back and forth in the Chateau, his hands pulling on his hair from stress. "Jesus christ, they took her. They just marched right in and took her. I swear to god if they lay a single hand on her I'm gonna-" "JJ!" Kie shouted at the boy who immediately stopped in his place.
"Stop thinking about how she got taken and help us find a way to get her back." John B placed his hands on the blonds shoulders, "we're gonna find her."
"We could try telling Peterkin." JB offered, Pope and JJ immediately shooting the idea down. "You never fucking trust cops, are you kidding me?" JJ snapped. "Okay well what the hell do you want us to do? Wait around until her dead body washes up on shore?" John B raised his voice, getting in his friends face.
"Don't even say that shit dude. Don't even bring it up." JJ stepped forward before Kie stepped between the two Pogues. "Jesus, stop fighting! When we were in her house we couldn't find her phone, right? Pope, do you think you could try to find her location?"
Pope nodded his head, instructing that he would need strong wifi and a good computer. JJ recommended the hotel he works at as a busboy, a kook hotel that had one of the strongest connections in the Outer Banks.
_____________
Your eyes struggled to remain open, both men had walked down stairs to try to interrogate you. However, you remained silent which only aggravated the men even more which forced them to throw punch after punch at your body.
It had been about three days since your kidnapping, the three days felt like four months. Your eyes felt heavy, your mouth was dry but the only thing you could taste was pure metal. Your ribs and chest ached, only imagining how many bruises littered your skin. Your wrists no doubt had rope burn due to every move you made.
You slugged in your seat as you heard footsteps trample down the wooden steps. You closed your eyes and automatically assumed it was the men. "Holy shit, guys she's down here!" Your eyes snapped open to see Pope running towards you. JJ stopped at the foot of the stairs, taking in every detail he saw.
He saw all the dark bruises, the small cuts, the irritation of your wrists, your eyes were red and had dark bags, Tears welded your eyes as you exhaled, the tape trapping your actual breath. Pope reached down and began to unite your legs. John B and Kie joined Pope to help untie the ropes and help you walk.
JJ heard the sound of footsteps above him, signaling that the square groupers were home. He sped upstairs, ready to kill the men who did this to you. You told John B to follow him, Kie and Pope telling him they would help you up the steps. Kie gently pulled the tape off your mouth allowing you to gasp, finally able to breathe normally.
The two helped you stand up, your legs nearly went numb after the blood began to flow back down. Step by step, they led you up back stairs to see one of the square groupers knocked unconscious on the floor. JJ was on top of the other one, beating his face in one punch at a time.
JJ threw a hooked punch directly to the side of his face, grunting with each action he did. Blood covered his knuckles as his face was red from pure anger. “I’ll kill you, you sick bastard. I’ll kill you, you’re a fucking monster who deserves to die. You never put your hands on a lady."
John B ripped JJ off of the grouper, telling him that was enough. JJ took one last look at the man before spitting on his face, "and that was your warning to never mess with a pogue." His eyes switched to see you in between Pope and Kie, their arms around your waist as yours were splayed around their shoulders.
He walked up towards you, "is it okay if I pick you up?" You nodded your head as he crouched down into position. Carefully, he picked you up bridal style. "Is this okay?" He whispered before you agreed. He carefully walked out of the house and into John B's van.
JJ carefully sat you down on the seat, allowing you to get comfortable. The drive was silent, no one knowing what to say that wouldn't upset you. Every bump the van hit caused your aches to hurt. JJ who was sitting across from you, reached forward and held your hand. Without looking away from the window, you gently squeezed his hand.
As soon as you returned to the Chateau, JJ was by your side and ready to carry you. You told him you would be able to walk, but as soon as you took one step your knees almost buckled. JJ and Pope were right by your side to help you stand.
They led you into the house and carefully let go of you, standing back as you stepped in place trying to regain feeling in your legs. "Do you need anything?" John B asked, handing you a bottle of water. You quickly uncapped it and chugged the liquid, panting as you crumpled the bottle in your hand.
"Some food and a shower would be nice. Maybe some sleep." You said before throwing the bottle away. "I can go to the Wreck to get us food." John B offered. "I'll come with." Pope stepped up. "And I'll go to your house and pack some things for you to take here." Kie said. Your heart melted at your friend's offers. "You guys are the best."
John B initiated a group hug, everyone careful on where their hands were. The trio left the house, leaving JJ and you alone. "Do- do you think you could sit in the bathroom with me? I don't really wanna be alone." You whispered, your cheeks lightly pink at your question. Without hesitation JJ agreed.
You walked into the bathroom, JJ behind you as he closed the door. Without you having to ask, he turned around to face the door, allowing you to change out of your dirty clothes. Turning on the water, you stepped in and allowed the cool water to hit your skin. You nearly cried at the feeling as the droplets hit your skin.
You raised your hands up to run through your hair, immediately hissing in pain as you stretched your torso. "Are you okay?" JJ asked from the other side of the curtain. The boy sat on the lid of the toilet, patiently waiting if you needed any help or you fell. "I- I uh can't reach my hair without it hurting." You said.
JJ went silent for a moment, "do you need help?" You muttered a soft 'yeah'. "Do you care if-" you quickly interrupted him. "JJ you've been my best friend for 9 years, I don't care if you see my body."
JJ stripped down to his boxers before stepping through the curtain. His cheeks flushed a light pink as he switched his gaze up to the ceiling. You turned around and faced away from the water. JJ lathered your hair with shampoo and conditioner, his fingers giving you a soft scalp massage.
You melted into his touch, nearly moaning at how good the feeling of soap on your skin made you feel. He stood aside and let the water hit your head, carefully running his fingers through your hair he rinsed the conditioner out. "And you are all clean," he started turning the shower off, "you can dry off and I'll get you a pair of clothes you can borrow." You thanked him as he carefully slid by you, still avoiding looking at your nude body.
You slowly reached out and grabbed the towel, carefully wrapping it around yourself. JJ quickly returned with a set of his shorts and an old band shirt. Allowing you to hold onto him to balance yourself, you slipped on the shorts. "I think I can get it over my arms." You said, your arms out directly in front of you. He helped you slide it on, his eyes continued to avoid your naked chest.
JJ had always been there for you from the day you met. From shoving the 5th grade bully into the wood chips because he laughed at you, to asking you to freshman homecoming after the boy you liked got asked by another girl. He would bring you food or snacks whenever you were on your period. He was the one who took the time to teach you how to surf. He was your best friend and you were his and nothing could separate you two.
JJ led you to his room and watched as you carefully laid down in the bed. You let out a moan of pleasure at the feeling of the soft fabric pressing against your skin. "Can you hold me?" You whispered avoiding eye contact with him. "Of course Y/N, I didn't plan on leaving you alone." JJ went around the bed to lay next to you.
His arm carefully rested at the top of your thighs, the only area near your waist that wasn't hurt. You snuggled into his chest, melting into his touch as he held you close to him. Soft sobs escaped your lips as your body shook in it's spot. "Shhh. It's okay. I'm right here." He whispered, stroking the back of your head.
"I'm so sorry we didn't find you sooner." He mumbled to the top of your head. "Don't apologize J, you guys found me. You guys saved my life." You said, slowly pulling away to look at him. He placed a soft kiss to your forehead. His stare landed at the dark black eye you had gotten. "But you got hurt." He whispered, his fingers holding the bottom of your chin to get a better look.
You held him by the wrist, "but I'm alive. I'm right here J." He shifted closer towards you, holding you in his arms where you were supposed to be. For the first time in 2 nights you were both able to close your eyes and feel at peace. "Get some rest Y/N, I'll wake you up when the food is here." He pressed another soft kiss to your forehead before you shut your eyes.
Snuggling closer to him, you placed a soft kiss to his neck and rested your forehead in the middle of his chest. "I love you." He smiled. resting his cheek on the top of your head. "I love you too."
Part One
Tumblr media
The day started with melancholy. The weather seemed to disagree, not a cloud in the sky as the morning sun filtered into your room through poorly drawn curtains, the warm rays scattering along your faces.
It was your last day together before you moved to the other side of the country for college for the next four years. Hokkaido had offered you exactly what you wanted to pursue, you just had to sacrifice your life in Tokyo to take it. Kuroo had been overwhelmingly supportive when you received your acceptance letter, rambling on and on about how Kenma would make sure he had a decent computer setup so you could video call every day, how the physical distance wouldn't matter in the long run.
You didn't tell him how much it meant to you that he would go to all those lengths to be with you. You didn't tell him how you couldn't ask that of him, how unfair it would be of you to tether him to you like that. You knew he deserved better than that, better than text messages and video calls. He deserved to be with someone that could be physically by his side, and that someone just wasn't you anymore.
You woke up somber, despite the warm, comforting arms wrapped around you like a cage. You allowed yourself several minutes to relish in his warmth, to commit to memory how perfect it felt to be by his side, since you knew you would never have this again.
Usually, you were both slow to wake, indulging in early morning cuddles and kisses, but today you couldn't bring yourself to bask in the little world of happiness the two of you had cultivated over the three years of your relationship. You were going to tear it all apart, but you knew it was for the better. There was no happiness in a relationship that would be held together by loneliness and longing, of staring at phones and wondering when the next text would come, when the next call would come. It would be torture and no matter how much you loved him, you couldn't bring yourself to demand that of him.
So, you didn't roll over and kiss him awake like you usually would. You don't stare at his sleeping face for minutes on end, marvelling at how peaceful he looks in slumber. You already knew every facet of his face, every emotion he was capable of expressing, so you don't need to commit anything to memory.
You pull yourself from his grip, despite him trying to tighten his hold on you as he came to consciousness. Even in sleep, if you tried to wiggle away, he would pull you closer instinctually. He looked up at you bleary eyed, a little confused, but happy to see you nonetheless, a sleepy smile gracing his features. The pure adoration he held for you sent your heart plummeting.
You gave him a tight smile back before leaving the comfort of the bed, the beginning of a bigger departure. You left him to doze off as you mulled around the bedroom, picking out some clothes and heading to the bathroom without a second glance. If you had looked at him again, you would have noticed him watching you with furrowed brows.
He knew you were worried about moving to Hokkaido, he was feeling down about, too. Today was your last day together in person, but he meant every word when he said he would be on top of calling you. Part of him knew your behaviour wasn't off because of the move, he knew you were keeping something from him, but he wasn't about to pry. He knew, deep down, that something was wrong, but he ignored that niggle of anxiety, just like he ignored the space that had suddenly grown between you.
--
It continued in the little actions throughout the day. You could barely look him in the eyes, could barely respond to his numerous assurances that he would call you, that it wouldn't be different, not really. You tried to wear a polite smile and nod, but it felt worn, like a terrible disguise and you knew he could see through it. It caused him to lay it on thicker, that by being overconfident and overbearing in his determination to make things work, it would smother the uncomfortable atmosphere that you had created.
"It's going to be fine," he repeats for the hundredth time, rubbing your shoulders soothingly. "I know you're nervous about the move. Hell, I would be, too!"
You hum, an acknowledgement that he's spoken but nothing more to contribute to the conversation. You're sitting in the living room, your bags packed and ready to go. You get the notification that your ride is here, that will take you to the airport and send you to the faraway island.
"You can call me when you're settled," he continues. "Or when you land. Whenever you want, kitten. I'll always answer."
It's almost sad, how desperate he is to convince you it will be okay. You have no doubt in your mind that he would hold true to his word, that things might even work out in the end, but you also know that would demand crippling loneliness. It would demand that each of you be on each other's beck and call, that when that phone rings or a text comes through, you're expecting to answer or reply. It demands that you're both hanging on the edge of your seat, waiting desperately for that phone call, that text message.
"Kitten?"
You hum again, looking up at him in inquiry. It's a mistake, he's looking down at you with all the love in the world. It wavers your determination, makes you falter in your resolve. You want to reciprocate that love so much, with every fibre of your being, and you do, you really do, which is why the next words out of your mouth are, "let's break up."
The next few moments go by in a blur. You barely register what he's saying, if he's saying anything at all, or what you're saying in return, if anything at all. You know deep down, this needs to be done, neither of you can live happily hanging onto that next text message, that next phone call. He deserves better than that, and so do you.
You gather up your bags in a daze as Kuroo is speaking fervently, questions and compromises falling on your deaf ears. You give him half hearted responses, barely formed excuses that you both know are bullshit. You don't look at him the entire time, knowing if you gave in and looked at the pain you had inflicted, you would cave and take it all back.
You leave without another word. Kuroo is torn between chasing after you and demanding a proper reason, but he knows it would be to no avail. He lets you go, knowing he has no chance to get anything out of you today. He tries to convince himself it's because you're leaving, that your nerves are wound up, that you're stressed and anxious about the move and about the new school, that you aren't thinking properly. That in a few days, you'll realise how silly you're being and you'll take it back.
He lets you go because he's confident he can change your mind.
--
He's calling you the next day.
It startles you out of your light slumber. You'd been going non-stop ever since you left, arranging your new room, organising your college schedule, finding the closest shops and most effective public transport, being thrown way out of your depth at the sudden independence that this new life demanded of you. Thankfully, you had a week to get used to it before college started handing your ass back to you on a silver platter.
You scramble to see the caller ID and your blood runs cold when you see. Everything in you is telling you to answer, to apologise for your actions and to take it all back, to even beg his forgiveness, but you just stare at the phone as the call goes to voicemail. You breathe a sigh of relief, though it's short lived when you get the text that you have a new voicemail.
And then he's calling again.
It goes like this for a solid fifteen minutes. Call after call, your heart desperately wanting to answer him, but your mind knowing you shouldn't. You've repeated it to yourself a thousand times already, that it's better off this way, that you both wouldn't be happy.
You're starting to hate yourself for being so stubborn.
--
The next day you're introduced to your roommate. Which, to your surprise, is someone you recognise. You hadn't expected to know anyone here, and if you're being honest with yourself, you don't really know Akaashi Keiji all that well. To you, he was just the friend of your boyfriend's best friend, who went to a completely different school.
Well, ex-boyfriend.
Akaashi seems to be surprised to see you as well. He introduced himself politely, finishing with, "you're... Kuroo's parter, right?"
It stabs you in a way you didn't think possible. You can feel your heart skip a beat before it picks up in double time, loud in your ears as Akaashi regards you with polite interest. You clear your throat, avoiding his gaze as you say, "ah, n-not anymore."
You find that Akaashi isn't a very expressive person. If he's shocked at the revelation, he doesn't show it. "Oh, my apologies." He doesn't pry any further, his voice devoid of any genuine feelings towards the matter. You don't know if you should be annoyed or relieved that he doesn't ask you about it.
It's then that your phone, from the very traitorous place on the kitchen counter, starts to go off. Akaashi glances at it before you're able to clamber over the sofa to the offending device, Kuroo's face and ID lighting up the screen in an entirely offensive display to your pride.
You hastily hit the reject button rather than letting it ring out, which earns you a raised eyebrow from your roommate. You can see the gears working in his brain as he pieces together the facts, though you're not given a chance to recover as your phone is going off again.
Apologies spill out of your mouth as you escape the communal area, shutting yourself in your room and away from Akaashi's judgement. You clutch at your phone like a lifeline, the feelings of remorse and desperation taking you over as Kuroo tries to call you over and over, the tears falling relentlessly for as long as he tries.
He gives up after ten minutes this time, though he leaves a voicemail for every unanswered call.
--
It's later that evening that you finally emerge from your room. Kuroo didn't try to call again, but he's been texting you non-stop all day. You've been reading them, how could you not, your heart breaking all over as you read the begging. It would almost be pathetic, how desperate he is for your attention, if you didn't reciprocate. You ask yourself for the hundredth time if this is the right course of action.
Akaashi, to your surprise, has made dinner for the both of you. He's still in the middle of serving the meal, his eyes flickering up as you enter the room.
"Are you okay?"
The question throws you off guard. You sputter, "I— what?" like a moron, feeling entirely off balance. You'd expected a lot of things to come from Akaashi, mostly negative, but not concern for your wellbeing.
"I asked if you are okay," he repeats, setting two bowls of food onto the low table by the couch. The apartment made use of the minimal space, meaning it was an open living layout with no dining area.
You gaped at him like a fish, unsure of what to say. He's patient with you, taking a seat and waiting for you to catch up to the present moment. You eventually do, wordlessly taking the floor across from him, staring at the meal like it held all the answers to the universe.
"You don't have to talk about it if you don't want to," he continues. "I don't mean to be presumptuous, but I find myself in a similar sort of situation."
You glance up at him like a rabbit staring down the jaws of a fox. He's regarding you with a carefully neutral expression, his hands busy with his bowl and chopsticks. You open your mouth to speak, but it's dry, and your voice comes out a lot raspier than usual. "What do you mean?"
"A long distance relationship," he says simply. "Bokuto suggested it, but I talked him out of it. We came to the agreement that we could try again once I graduate college, since he's going professional." He arches a delicate brow when he looks back up at you as he says, "I assume you had a similar conversation with Kuroo?"
You feel the knot in your belly tighten. You swallow thickly, willing yourself not to cry. "Not really," you admit, voice laced with emotion. "We didn't... discuss anything."
He studies you in a relaxed way as he eats, prompting you to start on your own meal. You thank him quietly for the meal despite not feeling hungry at all. You eat it all the same.
--
Akaashi is remarkably understanding about your decision. The only thing he doesn't agree with is you shouldering the decision, but he knows Kuroo well enough to know that there would have been no convincing him otherwise.
Kuroo continues to try to call you daily. Usually, its towards the evening, when you and Akaashi are either eating or watching TV to wind down for the day. You ignore it every time, Akaashi growing increasingly more worried about you as the weeks go by.
The two of you talk about your not-boyfriends a lot. The difference being that Akaashi maintains a friendly relationship with Bokuto, the two texting on the daily and video calling every other day. You had been present for one of the video calls, milling around in the kitchen behind Akaashi. Bokuto had greeted you politely enough, but you could tell he was angry with you. You didn't blame him, he was Kuroo's best friend after all, and you were surprised to find him tolerating you at all. Akaashi must have explained things to him, because the next time you accidentally crashed their video call, Bokuto had been much more pleased to see you.
Kuroo's unanswered messages to you deviate from their begging to be more casual, recounting his day in a one sided conversation. Somehow, it makes it all the harder to continue reading them, but you don't have the heart to block his number and you feel like you at least owe it to him to keep reading them. You don't touch the voicemails, knowing that if you heard his voice, your resolve would crumble.
It comes to a head one day, six months later, when you're lying in bed, unable to sleep, when he's texting you again. The frequency has died down considerably, the daily texts and calls turning into weekly ones. You watch with tears in your eyes as he recounts his day yet again, how much college is kicking his ass and how much of a recluse Kenma is when given the choice. He mentions how he's been spending time with Bokuto, suggests that the four of you should all have a video call and how is Akaashi going by the way?
He calls you after he's finished, and you nearly answer. Your finger hovers over the green spot, and you're ready to give up, this clearly isn't working, but for the first time he doesn't call until it rings out to voicemail. It leaves you feeling hollow. You had finally come to terms that you weren't going to hold out, that you were going to answer him and beg for his forgiveness.
He sends you one more text that sends you over the edge. You only read the first line of the preview, "I'll always love you, kitten," before you're opening up your messages with Kenma, begging him to talk to Kuroo and ask him to stop contacting you. You couldn't do this anymore.
And just like that, Kuroo goes silent. You feel your heart shatter at the realisation that you finally got what you wanted, that Kuroo would finally stop contacting you. You aren't sure when Akaashi made his way into your room, but you're bawling into his shoulder as he holds you close, rubbing soothing circles into your back as your heart is finally able to fully break.
--
Things get better. You're able to focus more on your college work and your friendship with Akaashi becomes more than a pair of lovesick fools. It becomes genuine, and strangely domestic. Akaashi's a lot better at cooking than you are, so in turn you handle the cleaning. Usually, you'll watch him cook and narrate the process like you're on a cooking show, and you'll rate the dish and give a critical analysis that's full of bullshit words and terms you don't fully understand. Sometimes, you'll even get into the kitchen and have Akaashi instruct you on what to do. He almost always takes over.
You both prefer to study in the communal area, quietly enjoying each other's company, and you regularly watch TV together. You don't necessarily talk a lot during these times, but you both relish the companionship and how comfortable it feels to be around each other.
You take each other out on platonic dates on the regular, too. Usually just to the coffee shop on campus when you're both run down from a lecture, swapping who pays for whom every time. Sometimes, it's a little more elaborate, a casual night out at the local izakaya.
Friendship with Akaashi comes as easy as breathing and he quickly becomes your closest friend. You confide in him as much as he confides in you, though the topic of conversation deviates from your mutual pining to more substantial things. You find that your original assumption of Akaashi not being very expressive was entirely false. He's just extremely guarded, but he feels at ease around you, almost as much as he feels around Bokuto, so you get to see his rare smiles and listen to his laughter.
There's a day where you're both exhausted from the week, feeling especially touch-starved, when you cross the line. Akaashi is the one to suggest it, his reasoning very sound. You're both craving physical contact, you're both helplessly in love with someone you can't be with right now, so why not give it a try?
"You can pretend I'm him," he says in a low voice as he moves into your space. It sounds so unhealthy, but he would be doing the same with you, so it would be okay, right?
You find out very quickly that your relationship with Akaashi could never be anything but platonic. When he kisses you, and you kiss him back, you both recoil with an almost repulsed expression mirroring back to each other. You're the first to laugh, the small giggle escaping your lips with Akaashi hovering over you on the couch. He sits back and laughs along with you as you trade compliments for your kissing style, but come to an agreement that it felt wrong.
You never speak of it again.
After that, you're somehow even more comfortable with each other. You start calling each other by first name. You often gravitate to his side, whether it be huddled down on the couch, completely invading his personal space, or be it out in public, where he carelessly throws his arm around you.
The two of you could never see each other as anything but platonic friends, but you're still able to satisfy the cravings of the skin, in the form of casual touches and friendly embraces. It becomes the norm for you two to be touching somehow, whether it be hand holding or just standing shoulder to shoulder. It's therapeutic.
Some of your classmates ask if you're dating. You laugh at the questions, there's no way you could date Akaashi. You assure them that you're just best friends. It doesn't seem to convince anyone, but you don't really care. They don't understand and you don't want to make them. It's between you and Akaashi, and probably Bokuto, too.
--
You're at a party, entirely too drunk, when you're being pulled into a bathroom and you're being ravaged by someone you don't know. He's probably a classmate, someone you see every other day, but right now you can't find a name. You find that you don't care, and you lose yourself to his ministrations as he peels back your clothing and presses wet, drunken kisses to your skin.
It's when you muse his black hair into something far too familiar, moaning out a name you thought you'd never say again, that has you scrambling from the sink in a panic. You barely give the man another look before you run, out of the bathroom and out of the building, onto the cold, dark street. You fumble for your phone with ragged breaths, dialing Akaashi.
You're panicking and you're damn near in tears on the phone to him. It takes him no time at all to come to you, you were somewhere on campus, and he's wrapping you up in his scarf and jacket, holding you close as you come down from your hysterics.
You walk home in silence, your hand firmly clasped in his. He sits you down on the sofa, wrapping you up even more like a burrito, setting a glass of water in front of you as he prepares tea for you both. You're dazed, or you're just still really drunk, because suddenly Akaashi is next to you and pressing the warm mug into your hands.
"What happened?"
You shrug helplessly. "I don't know. One minute it was fine, I was about to get the dicking of my life—" You stop yourself, your brain catching up with your words. "No, I wasn't. I was in a fucking bathroom of all places. No, that would have been a shit fuck," you murmur this to yourself, voicing your thoughts. You startle slightly when Akaashi places a hand on your shoulder, bringing you back to the present. "Oh. Um. For a second, all I could think of was Kuroo, so I panicked."
Akaashi sighed, rubbing your arm comfortingly. "I'm glad you're okay. Next time, let me come with you."
You wiggle your eyebrows stupidly. "Why, you wanna get down and dirty with me?" The question barely makes it out before you're laughing. The idea of sleeping with Akaashi has become laughable. You suddenly grow somber as the thought crosses your mind and you look up to him with the biggest eyes you can manage. "Hey, can I sleep with you tonight?"
He snorts, an affectionate smile dancing on his lips. "You are so horny when you're drunk."
"Not like that!" you exclaim, a little too loud, a little too excited. "Just... you know. Sharing a bed. No funny business."
He can barely hold back his own laughter, giggling softly at you. "No funny business," he agrees with a giggle, patting the top of your head. "Alright, give me a minute to make my bed."
--
Akaashi is on a video call with Bokuto when he has to excuse himself for the bathroom, leaving Bokuto to spot you in the background and excitedly hollering your name, calling you over.
"We haven't spoken in forever!!" he whines as you take Akaashi's place on the sofa.
You laugh as you say, "I'm pretty sure we spoke last week, man."
He playfully pouts, but excited all the same. "Yeah, but last week you hadn't kissed Akaashi yet!" You freeze and Bokuto bursts out into mirthful laughter. "Or slept with him!" he adds for good measure, and you feel like your entire existence should just cease to be.
"Well, uh, you see, about that," you try to explain, but you're stumbling over your words and Bokuto is having the time of his life on the other line.
"I'm just teasing," he assures in between bouts of laughter. "He told me all about it, but I've been dying to know your side of the story. C'mon, tell me, is he not the best kisser you've ever kissed?"
You pray for some divine being to smite you on the spot, to spare you the embarrassment of the conversation, but your prayers are not answered and you're forced to go along with Bokuto's asinine line of questioning. "Well, uh, no offense to you or him, but no? Like, objectively he's a great kisser, but like..." you trail off helplessly. "I've kissed better," you end up saying fruitlessly.
Bokuto's eyes shine with glee. "You mean, my best bro, Kuroo? Oh, hey, that rhymes!"
You chuckle at him, ignoring the little pricks to your heart. "Yeah. He's spoiled me for life, I think," you say, truthfully. Neither that drunken mishap nor Akaashi could compare to how it felt when you kissed Kuroo. But, you very purposefully do not follow that train of thought, and you're blessed with the return of Akaashi.
He gives you a quirk of the eyebrow as he takes a seat next to you, very much in your personal space, going so far as to rest his head in your lap as he looks up to the screen with pure adoration. "Are you behaving yourself, Bokuto?"
"Always!" he barks back cheerfully. "Just sharing stories of what it's like to kiss you!"
Akaashi buries his head in your lap and you feel like a furnace, no doubt your face is as red as the shirt you're wearing. Despite it all, you pat Akaashi's head comfortingly, and Bokuto actually squeals, an impossibly high pitch from the man, as he coos at how adorable you two are.
"Is your partner as cool as I am with you being this affectionate with Akaashi?" Bokuto blurts. You miss the narrowing of Akaashi's eyes.
"We aren't together, Bokuto," Akaashi murmurs. Bokuto waves him off with a grin.
"I, uh, I'm not seeing anyone," you announce, forcing a laugh. You nudge at Akaashi ever so slightly, smoothly sliding out from under him. "It was nice to talk to you again, Bo, but I've got some shit I need to do. You kids keep it PG13 in the living room, okay?"
You don't see the stern look Akaashi gives Bokuto, nor do you hear the reprimanding when you close yourself in your room. You aren't privy to the conversation that follows, nor Kuroo meekly poking his head into frame.
"This isn't healthy," Akaashi scolds. "It's been over a year, Kuroo."
"Then tell me with absolute certainty that I don't have a chance," he counters. "Tell me that it's a lost cause."
Akaashi opens his mouth to say just that, but knows it would be a lie. He frowns as he says, "it still isn't healthy."
--
College starts back up with little fanfare. You and Akaashi sign on to stay as roommates for the duration of your courses, which was a no brainer. You couldn't imagine not living with Akaashi, and for the time being, you'll let yourself live in the fantasy. You know you'll eventually have to let him go, when you both graduate and he returns to Bokuto, and you're fine with that. You don't know what you're going to do, but you figure that isn't something to worry about for another few years.
Bokuto comes to visit, though it's barely for a weekend. You try to give the two men their privacy, you know that despite not dating that they would want their alone time, but Bokuto is very insistent that you all hang out together.
Once, you would have said you were better friends with Bokuto over Akaashi. How could you not have been, you were dating his best friend and you all got along. Kuroo would often drag you along to their joint volleyball training camps, and he would often want to catch Bokuto outside of school hours. Bokuto was funny, easy to get along with, and charming in his own way. Akaashi would often accompany Bokuto on those outings, but the two of you just never hit it off.
Funny how things work themselves out.
Akaashi's having a shower when you drop next to Bokuto, throwing your legs over his lap and leveling him with a serious look. "I'm going to ask you something and you're not going to read into it or tell anyone about it," you say as you get comofrtable.
He raises an eyebrow impossibly high. "I can promise none of that," he answers truthfully. "I can't keep things from Akaashi."
You muse for a moment. "Okay, Keiji doesn't count." He suppresses a squeal of delight at you using Akaashi's given name. Something about your friendship with Akaashi really tickles Bokuto's inner fangirl. He schools his face into something more serious when you cock your head to the side. "Right. Um. How is... Kuroo?"
His eyebrows shoot even higher, eyes sparkling with intrigue. You're quick to deny any special interest (lie), you fell out of love with him long ago (lie), you're completely over him (lie). You're probably being too insistent on these facts (lies), but if you repeat them enough, they'll eventually become true, right? (Wrong).
"I haven't even said anything yet," Bokuto laughs, silencing you. "He's doing fine. I think he's seeing someone, but he's so tight lipped about it," he says with a frown while the news causes your heart to skip a beat. "He's still living with Kenma. Oh! Kenma and Hinata started dating, did you hear?" he trails off excitedly, and you find it difficult to pay attention.
Was Kuroo really dating someone? You had no right to feel as upset as you did, it is what you wanted to happen, after all. The whole idea was so you could both find happiness in someone a lot closer. Really, you should be happy that he managed to find it, but instead you feel bitter that you haven't been able to. You've been too busy denying your feelings, denying that you're still hung up on him nearly eighteen months later, but even if you decided to accept them, to take it all back, it seems it's too late for that now. You wouldn't deserve it anyway, not after how you callously threw him aside.
Akaashi joins you a little while later, and he knows something's upset you. He slips in easily between you and Bokuto, returning your legs to lay atop both of their laps, and he rests his hands on your thigh in comfort. He doesn't ask what's wrong, but he manages to steer Bokuto's topic completely away from all your old friends, to what the three of you should do tomorrow before Bokuto has to leave.
--
You start dating.
It's a lot harder than you ever thought. You never really dated in the first place, since it was in your first year at Nekoma High that you met Kuroo and very quickly fell into an easy relationship with him for the following three years. You didn't know how to date, and you were too embarrassed to ask Akaashi for advice. Part of you told you that he would be just as clueless.
Most don't go anywhere after the first date. It's surprisingly time consuming and you'd rather spend your free time with Akaashi. Some see a second date, but things just don't feel right and you don't pursue a third date.
You're walking through campus, on a haphazard video call with Hinata. He's not even in the country, he's in Brazil now, learning how to play beach volleyball. You'd always been friendly with the Karasuno middle blocker, but you'd made an effort to keep in contact since you found out he and Kenma were dating. Next to Akaashi, Kenma was your best friend, which meant Hinata was now your best friend, too.
"Sounds like you're having a wild time there," you remark to his latest misadventure. "Keeping it interesting so Kenma will keep sponsoring you?" you add as a tease, giggling with delight when Hinata gets all flustered and embarrassed.
As Hinata tries to save face, you notice a young man looking at you sheepishly, like a child that's lost their parent. He couldn't be older than you, maybe he's younger than you. "Ah, I'll call you back, Sho," you interrupt, quickly ending the call and giving the stranger a kind smile. "Can I help you?"
He looks about as awkward as you feel as he takes the two extra steps to approach you. "This is probably really weird, but were you just on the phone to Hinata Shouyou?"
That's how you met Sekimukai Kouji, who just so happened to be Hinata's old friend from elementary school. Your world in Hokkaido didn't seem nearly as detached as it once used to, and you struck up an easy friendship with Kouji.
It didn't take long for the two of you to start dating. It felt freeing, for a little while. You felt happy, or at least you had tricked yourself into feeling happy. As the months ticked by, guilt began to gnaw at you. Were you actually happy or were you just using Kouji as a stand in for Kuroo? Should you even get to feel happy after how you broke Kuroo's heart?
It came to a head one day, several months after that fateful encounter, when you were getting hot and heavy with Kouji. You'd invited him over, it wasn't the first time he'd been over, with the intention to study until your brains were mush. Studious as you were, study took a backseat after an hour, when the numbers and letters started to swirl around your head and make even less sense than usual, when Kouji's hands found your thighs and your attention was very much no longer on the nonsense alphanumerics.
His hands gripping at your sides, pressing hot kisses into your neck, your hands in his hair, tugging fervently, when you both moaned different names. Neither name belonged to the present company.
You might have been more upset with yourself for allowing it to happen again, if Kouji hadn't done the exact same to you. You both break away with mortified expressions, apologies ready to spill from your lips, when you both register that you both fucked up. A tense second passes before your chuckle breaks the silence, and the tension with it, and you're both laughing at how ridiculous you both are.
Kouji opens up and explains how he's in love with his best friend from elementary school, has been for countless years now, how he's never had the courage to admit anything, too terrified to lose their friendship, and how he hoped you would have been able to distract him, for lack of a better word.
It's almost funny, if it weren't so damn sad. You were both using each other as a stand in. You recall Akaashi offering the exact same scenario to you almost two years ago and how ridiculous it had seemed at the time.
You explain yourself in turn, and you're both laughing with tears at how pathetic you both are. You encourage Kouji to shoot his shot, that having been friends with Izumi for so long means a confession couldn't possibly ruin anything. Kouji suggests you at least try and talk to Kuroo again, though he understands that your side is a lot more convoluted than his.
You break up that day, but you maintain a solid friendship with him, to the point that you still call each other by first name. You're the first person he calls after he confesses to Izumi, telling you with tears in his voice that he lasted a whole week being single. You congratulate him, just as teary eyed, so overwhelming happy for him, and insist on meeting his new boyfriend.
It's a bittersweet moment when you do finally meet Izumi, several weeks later. You're genuinely happy that it worked out, that Kouji is the happiest you've ever seen him in the short time that you've known him, but you can't help but feel a little bitter regarding your own feelings, on top of feeling like you don't deserve to feel badly about it, since it's all your doing.
You still spend time with Kouji, though the majority of your spare time is dedicated to Akaashi. When you're out on campus, Kouji will join you in a video call to Hinata. He doesn't visit you in your apartment anymore, which is just as well, since you've decided that your home is for you and Akaashi only (and Bokuto on his rare visits).
--
Your last year of college goes by uneventfully. In the final week leading up to your graduation, and your eventual eviction from the college housing with Akaashi, you're reminded that you need to find new housing in Tokyo. Hokkaido was only ever temporary, you loved the lifestyle of Tokyo, you loved the people in Tokyo.
Akaashi already has you covered. He doesn't take no for an answer when he tells you of the apartment he's secured, that the two of you aren't parting ways just yet, that Bokuto is still abroad and besides, you're just as important to him as Bokuto is. It makes your heart feel as light as a feather, makes you even more excited to graduate.
The new apartment is a lot more spacious than what you've been living in for the past four years. You decorate it together, going to the store together to find more space fillers, more indoor plants, to make the space something that's entirely you and Akaashi. Despite how perfect the place ends up becoming, how truly at home you feel in your new home, uncertainty gnaws at you. This isn't really your place, not really, not when Bokuto returns.
"Hey, Keiji," you lean over the island bench as Akaashi prepares a simple recipe for dinner. Bokuto is visiting this coming weekend, and you need to air your concerns before then. "What happens to me when Bokuto moves in?"
Akaashi regards you with a slight frown, as if he doesn't understand why you're asking, as if the answer is obvious. "Nothing," he says with a tone of obviousness that matches his expression. "This is your home, too."
You hum in thought, feeling your heart soar. "Yeah, but... won't it be weird for you? Having me around when you start getting serious with Bo?"
He stops what he's doing so he can give you his undivided attention. "My getting serious with Bokuto doesn't mean you have to leave. We've been living together for so long now, I think it would be weirder if we weren't." He places his hands over yours, giving them a gentle squeeze. "If you do want to move out when that happens, it'll be on your terms. I'm not going to force you out, and neither is Bokuto."
You blink back tears that you didn't know were welling up. You clear your throat and pull your hands back, feeling way too loved. You aren't sure what to say to such brutal honesty, even though you're used to his brand of honesty by now. Despite not replying, he seems satisfied enough with your reaction to continue with dinner, glancing at you occasionally with a soft smile. You can't help but reciprocate.
--
Bokuto moves in six months later, when he's finally released from volleyball hell. You find it isn't as uncomfortable as you first feared, and you continue to live with the happy couple for a following six months before you decide to move out. It pains you to do so, to leave your best friend of five years, but you aren't really leaving, not when you're moving a few blocks away. Akaashi insists that you visit frequently, which you do, and for the most part it's like you never even left.
But, now you have somewhere to go when Bokuto wants to have his friends over. More to the point, when Bokuto wants to have Kuroo over.
Bokuto never said anything about it, never asked if you would be okay with having Kuroo visit for the day, never even suggested it. He would only ever invite Kuroo over if he knew you weren't going to be home, and he would always make sure Kuroo was gone by the time you were due to return. He probably would have kept that up for years, but when you caught wind of what he was doing via Akaashi, you felt terrible. The apartment had become just as much Bokuto's home as it was yours, but you were making Bokuto have to treat his best friend like some kind of sinful secret.
Living alone wasn't bad. It took some time getting used to, and you very quickly had to learn how to cook on your own. You often phoned Akaashi during meal times, asking him how to do this or that, and sometimes he would just come over to help you. It was a good excuse for the both of you, as he missed you as much as you missed him.
As the fifth year ticked over and Bokuto's birthday inched ever closer, you came to terms with the inevitability that you would have to face Kuroo again. It was probably childish of you to hope you could avoid him for the rest of your life, to continue avoiding the truth of your feelings. It was amazing you'd managed to avoid him for over a year since moving back to Tokyo, especially during those six months where you lived with Bokuto. You told Akaashi that you were ready, that you weren't going to miss Bokuto's birthday for something so silly.
"I don't think it's silly," Akaashi disagrees. "Bokuto will understand."
"We're adults," you say with a shrug. "I can’t avoid him forever. I might even be able to apologise.”
I came for Baranski, I stayed for Baranski - a quick Christmas On The Square review someone* actually asked for
Tumblr media
(* thank you, anon)
Disclaimer: I am in no way a professional of any sorts when it comes to film and I'm not a journalist either. The last movie review I've written was probably for a school assignment in eighth grade. I didn't do research for this and I've watched the movie exactly one time, so this is just for fun.
It was a Sunday, Sunday the 22nd of November, nearing the end of the train wreck of a year that is 2020. I woke up on an air mattress around seven am, my head aching, my throat itching with pyrosis and light nausea, it was still dark outside behind the closed blinds in front of the windows, when I slowly realised where I was, one of my best girlfriends sleeping next to me in her bed. I had crashed at her place after a warm, fuzzy evening of mulled wine, tacky Christmas movies I would never watch alone (Christmas Chronicles and Holiday Calendar, which I quite honestly didn't enjoy at all, but the company made it fun anyway), doing our nails, wearing the fun kind of face masks for a change and smoking too many cigarettes, as the soft pain in my head informed me right now. She woke up an hour later and the morning went by with coffee and reheated pizza for breakfast, when we decided to watch another movie and I realised that it was THE Sunday I'd been waiting for through Zoom interviews and Dolly Parton twitter memes and the infamous wig gate that will be briefly discussed in the following, and so we clicked on the small icon in the Netflix menu that said "Christmas On The Square".
And oh boy, was it a ride.
To start off, I should mention that I have a hard time watching most modern day American Christmas movies, as I noticed quite vividly again when I watched the two aforementioned Netflix productions last night. The character development is always foreseeable to say the least, the plot lines are plain clichés hunting each other like they're the kids in The Hunger Games, and the writing is generally so bad that you can join the actors in reciting the entire scripts on your first watch. I watch How the Grinch Stole Christmas once a year while I'm gift wrapping and pause every fifteen minutes to shamelessly stare at forties Christine Baranski (I think we should all turn away from the birth of Jesus and instead count our years based on Christine Baranski's date of birth) in flamboyant nightgowns and short Christmas themed dresses, looking so fabulous that every interpreter of Santa Baby ever could only dream of it, I watch Love Actually at least five times a year to lust over Hugh Grant, cry with Emma Thompson and miss Alan Rickman, I enjoy Bridget Jones, which I would definitely consider a Christmas movie, and that's it. That's my yearly Christmas time entertainment routine and I can barely tolerate anything beyond, because I'm still traumatised from the time when I was around five years old and on a holiday family visit where had to sit through National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, the dumbest movie I have ever seen (my apologies if you like it but also, who hurt you?), with my cousins. I hated it. I hated every minute of it. And it scarred me for life.
But this was a Christine Baranski movie, I knew she was going to play the lead and so I was pretty much as excited about this as I could. And the fact that Dolly Parton wrote the whole thing didn't hurt either. As I said earlier to my friend I was watching it with, I have the pop cultural taste of a fifty year old gay man, a quality I am most proud of, and this simply ticked off all my boxes.
I expected something similar to a Mamma Mia experience that wouldn't cause me to crave packing my bags, give Covid the finger and run off to Greece. Light-hearted entertainment, easy to stomach, uplifting music and so little plot that the simplicity feels like a creative choice. That's what my pained, hungover brain knew it could cope with and that's not what I got.
The movie started and I was immediately in the zone. I saw Christine Baranski's name in the front credits (an experience that never fails to make me scream "Yass Queen" at the screen, regardless of where I am and who I'm with, as if I'm the sobering result that pops out of the package when you order Jonathan Van Ness on Wish), the setting was wonderfully corny (I grew up watching Gilmore Girls once a week, so give me warm fairy lights and a gazebo and I'm perfectly happy) and as my friend wondered whether Dolly Parton, in her exaggerated homeless attire that didn't make her look shabby at all, was green-screened into the setting because she stood out so much (which she was because the background dancers were dancing in slow motion, but to be fair, we were probably still a little too drunk to notice that from the start) and I told her I thought that it was just the natural glow someone who's Dolly Parton simply carries with them everywhere they go, I was happy. This was the movie I was prepared for. A movie in which the most problematic thing would be stereotypical characters and the wig they hid Christine's real, flawlessly handmade by God herself hair under.
And then, around five minutes in, Christine Baranski's childhood love interest was revealed as she pressed her perfect pointy nose against the window of his shop and sang about her unrequited love.
And suddenly, things started taking turns at a pace I was still way too sleep-deprived for.
Suddenly, in the middle of my general amazement at seeing Christine Baranski do literally anything and laughing loud at her impeccable comedic delivery, there were unresolved daddy issues, hanging prominently at the wall in her marvellously designed house (she literally says "Daddy" at one point and I couldn't help but think that only someone with her vocal skills could keep from making it sound cringe-worthily kinky). One moment, I was clutching my chest above my heart while she was bonding with little bartender Violet and munching on pretzels while downing some whiskey in that elegant way only Christine Baranski can bond with ten year olds who had it rough, eat pretzels and down whiskey, and the next she felt responsible for said girl's mother's death (which she kinda was too, but I'm not the boss of her). I was still busy making fun of how the very annoyingly, but when you're snacking on pizza with extra cheese at nine in the morning also highly funny, slow talking pastor's name was Christian, and suddenly there was a cancer scare.
It was a lot, a hasty sprint from major issue to major issue with a hint of comedic relief every now and then, and it didn't get any less until the very, rather poorly resolved, end.
The entire, constant up and down was followed by the movie's peak of suspense, the near death of precious Violet, something I couldn't even get too invested in because I was still so busy worrying about Christine's MRT results (I was truly fucking worried), not to mention that I hadn't even started to really process the sudden revelation of the love child and how it had affected her character's actions until this point. Was her constant tendency of pushing people away, as we've seen most clearly with her angel in training assistant who's name I cannot recall right now, the result of her broken trust in her father who practically ripped her son away from her after she had just given birth to him? Was it a result of her never getting the closure she needed with plaid flannel wearing Carl she was clearly still in love with? Maybe both? And what of the many issues was it that made her so incredibly shaken up when Violet blamed herself for her mother's death? Was it 'just' due to the fact that the closed pharmacy was on her, or was there more to it? Was it because she had grown up without a mother herself? Or did I miss a major piece of information because I was momentarily distracted, dumbfoundedly staring at Christine's very blue eyes? No time to ponder on that, little Silverinia, because here comes unconscious Violet in an ambulance, WEE WOO WEE WOO WEE WOO!
I'm not going to go in depth about what plot lines I thought were especially carelessly handled and why, real standouts were the sudden forgiveness towards her father who had still acted like a shitty asshole even though he might have had his reasons, because giving the baby up for adoption just wasn't his choice to make, and the fact that I kind of didn't buy how quickly Regina managed to forgive herself, especially for Violet's mother's passing, considering how deeply her tall, slim, dare I say angelic and entrancing figure was buried beneath the weight of all her issues. It felt rushed and incomplete, but that's as detailed as it gets because my major point is something else.
I think this movie made the great mistake of trying to be more than your average, flat, happy ending Christmas movie. I think no one involved thought it was possible to make it a big hit if the only real plot would've been great Dolly Parton music, fun ensemble dance choreographies, Christine Baranski's outstanding acting skills, fun settings and costumes and a redemption arch with as little plot as it could possibly take to make Christine likable to those who aren't already lost forever in the rabbit hole of being obsessed with her (poor fuckers, can't relate). They didn't notice that with the legends that were involved, they could've easily gone the Mamma Mia way. And I think that's why they tried to include heavier plot lines than most creators would've chosen, experiencing loss at an early age, struggling to find closure, dealing with sickness, teenage pregnancy, parents forcing their choices on their children when they affect their childrens' lives first, adoption, and the fear of losing your kid.
It was a lot and I don't want to say that it didn't work because my friend was crying, like, pretty hard and I questioned my entire existence all through the movie in not the worst way, and I did enjoy it a lot while watching. The "grief is love with nowhere to go" line was a real standout, for example, where the attempt of complexity DID work. It positively gave me fleabag season two, "I don't know what to do with it now, with all the love I have for her." - "I'll take it. It sounds lovely. You have to give it to me." feels, and that's about the biggest praise I can come up with. BUT (and this is written in capital letters because it's the big but) I'm also totally convinced that I wouldn't have enjoyed it if they hadn't cast Christine Baranski for the lead role. In my humble opinion, the hasty, not really at all resolved plot of this movie only worked because Christine Baranski is just a fantastic actress. She quirks a mocking eyebrow and you laugh. She parts her perfectly painted red lips and you immediately hang on them because you don't want to miss a single breath she, a literal goddess, graces us mere peasants of people with. She smiles and you're happy. She laughs and even while she's still laughing, you can't wait to hear her do it again. Her eyes fill with tears and you feel goosebumps on your arms, her voice slightly trembles, a breath hitches in her throat and you feel your heart shattering to pieces. As Chuck Lorre once said, this woman could read you the phone book and you would end up laughing tears because she just gets the job done. She knows what she's doing, she's an absolute pro in her game, and it doesn't matter, not even a little bit, what she's working with, because the work she eventually delivers with it is always at a minimum of 200%. I forced my friend to watch this movie with me because I adore this woman, and I felt for this movie because I felt for her. It wasn't the plot that sadly brutally overestimated itself, it wasn't the songs that I obviously enjoyed, nor the comedic elements that truly made me laugh a lot, it was all her. I came for Baranski, and I stayed for Baranski. This woman can do anything. She can even look graceful in a terrible wig job.
(side note / unpopular opinion: I actually didn't think the wig was all too bad. It wasn't good, actually far from good, but for me, nothing can match the awful wig game of Mamma Mia 2. I loathed that wig, I absolutely cannot stand it. So this didn't feel all that terrible. It definitely wasn't the most problematic part about the movie.)
I enjoyed watching this. It was a nice distraction from all the bullshit in the world. Watching it today was the first thing this year that actually brought me something close to excitement about the holiday season, even though everything will be very different and probably not quite as jolly this year. But it just gave me good vibes and as someone who did not watch this as a film reviewer, that's the biggest part of what leads me to enjoy a movie.
Will I watch this again? For sure. Will I enjoy it when I'm not hungover, having freshly done nails and munching delicious pizza for breakfast? Probably not as much, but it'll still have Christine Baranski in it. Would I recommend watching this? If you share my obsession with Queen B, one hundo. If you don't, probably not.
Tumblr media
“Did ya hear the rumors?”
“The folks are saying the Nilfgaards want to overrule Cintra.”
“That’s never been a secret, mate. Cintra will fall and we all know that.”
“Got to hell. Our Lioness is strong. Don’t ya ever doubt her skill.”
These were the latest accusations browsing around the village. Cintra, the kingdom Alva was currently staying, was about to fall. The men were right when they're saying that. Even Savilla was under tension these days. She said they could arrive any day by now.
The Lioness was the Queen of this state. Calanthe of Cintra, known also as the "Lioness of Cintra" and "Ard Rhena" called by the Elders. The mother of Pavetta, and grandmother of Ciri. She was known for her bravery and beauty. That is at least what she figured while serving in the tavern. She heard tons of rumors but couldn’t understand what that meant for her.
Sevilla had already started packing the most important goods and she collected all the money she received. Rarely spending anything except for once. She bought two horses. They weren’t expensive she said and necessary for traveling.
When the Nilfgaards want to overrule Cintra the will stop here. Their town was called Walen. It’s close to the capital of Cintra. Where the Queen and the King had their castle. It may be a small village but you will get everything you need in this town. Food, animals, tailors, and a blacksmith.
Overall this village was not a poorly town. It had more than enough money to keep everyone well fed through the winter, which was a rare thing in this century. They didn’t necessarily depend on other nearby villages. They made everything they could need by themselves. Sevilla already had a plan figured out. James was still living in his forest and promised to alert them directly if he’d see something unusual and he would try to save them some time. In the beginning, Alva didn’t understand why the had to take all these precautions until the mage explained it to her. The Nilfgaardian Army was strong and powerful. They raided villages, stole their good, and raped the women. Their goal was to overrule Cintra, which means they wouldn’t hesitate to torture the people living here to receive any information they would mark as useful.
It was horrible and disgusting but it was the way this world worked. You have to protect yourself because nobody else will.
The job at the tavern kept her busy. It was quite fun now that Jaskier decided to stay. She liked his singing and his humor, even if sometimes he’d get on her nerves. He was flirting with every woman he could come across and needless to say, it didn’t stay with flirting if the girl agreed.
Gladly Jaskier understood rather quickly not to tease Alva's patience because she didn’t care about the girly behavior this world was used to. She was quick with grabbing any nearby object and chasing the bard with it. Once or twice even with his lute.
She would consider them both as good friends, which is why she was asking the bard about his plans when the Niflgaards arrive. “They don’t scare me. I’m not scared of anything. I could even get some new stories to tell in my songs.”
The bard was sometimes naive but he assured Alva that he knew what was coming and that he will be prepared.
Another day another workday for Alva. It was all peaceful and quiet, especially in the mornings. She liked that shift a lot. But not today. She was the first server to enter and she quickly realized that. Dozens of mugs were laying on the floor, bear and gin spilled everywhere.
“Was there a party I don’t know about?” Alva let that question settle in the room, soon recognizing that no one was there to talk to.
“All right, fuck all of you then.”
“Why you gotta be so mean all the time?”
The mumbling sound of Jaskier's voice broke the silence and Alva spotted his hat in one of the corners of the room. The rest was hidden behind a barrel. He looked rather ruff. His Jacket was thrown on the chair beside him and his shirt was unbuttoned pretty far down. Thankfully he had his pants still on.
“Because you're sleeping quietly in your corner while I have to scrub the floor that you probably spilled you drink on.” Alva throws her bag at Jaskier, hitting him right in the belly.
“That was uncalled for. And to be exact it wasn’t only me. The men last night were enormously friendly and gave everyone a drink for free. Let me tell you it was fantastic.”
“Glad to hear you had a good time. Did you earn more than usual.”
“Probably. Can’t remember if I shall be completely honest.”
That sounded like typical Jaskier.
Alva grabbed some towels and a bucket, filling it with water and soap. She dipped one into the liquid and searched for her target. Jaskier was standing a few meters away. His back was facing her.
“Don’t you know that turning your back to someone is just plain rude.” And with these words, the towel was being thrown, right on Jaskier's head. But the bard didn’t seem to mind the wet cloth sitting on top of his head.
“What the hell are you doing Jaskier?” The girl made her way over to him, to take a look at the interesting thing Jaskier was concentrated on.
She didn’t like was she was seeing. Jaskier had opened her bag and grabbed one of her leather notebooks, Sevilla gave her exactly 3 of them, so she could keep track of this world and for anything else, Alva wanted to write down.
“You lied to me!” Jaskier let out an offended sigh. “You are a bard yourself and you didn’t tell me? I'm deeply offended, Alva.”
Alva tried to snatch the book out of his hands, unsuccessfully. “Jaskier, I will kick your ass! Give it back!” Jaskier was probably about 1 ½ head taller than Alva. That made it far more difficult.
“Why would I? These are amazing. Why did you hide them from me?”
“I’m not a bard Jaskier. I just like to write songs, get it?”
“You have to sing for me sometime or at least allow me to use some of your poetry.”
“For Christ's Sake Jaskier give me the book or I will kick you in your balls and that is a promise.”
Jaskier's shocked eyes stared her blank in the face. “No need to threaten me. But I've heard worse than that.” The bard still didn’t give the book back. Alva was struggling to get hold of his arm, that he held far up in the air.
“That’s so romantic. May I quote ‘I've been hiding for so long, these feelings they’re not gone, can I tell anyone?’ What a poet you are little girl.”
“Jaskier I’m begging you, please stop!” Alva knew what the next line read. And she knew in which time frame she was captured. This will not end well.
“Why this is adorable! ’Afraid of what they'll say, so I push them away. I'm acting so strange.’ Does someone have a crush on good ol’ Jaskier?”
“Jaskier you don’t want to read further trust me.” Alva stopped reaching for her journal. It wouldn’t change what would happen next, she was too small and Jaskier to stubborn.
“’ They're so pretty it hurts. I'm not talking 'bout boys, I'm talking 'bout’ … oh.” There it was. Would he hate her now? Was she about to be abandoned from this village? She had no idea what would happen next.
“I’m sorry, Alva. I didn’t me to intrude your privacy.” Jaskier looked ashamed. That was a surprising sight. He quietly closed the book and handed it to her. She grabbed it and stuffed it bag in her back.
“You’re not going to tell anyone, are you?”
“No, don’t be afraid. I don’t mind that. It’s just a bummer, I thought you had a swarm for myself. I guess I was wrong.” Jaskier let out a friendly laugh and scratched the back of his head.
“Wait, you don’t hate me?”
“Why would I? I mean I’m fond of women myself so why would I blame you? I’m just a little bit disappointed. I thought maybe I had a chance to win you over, at least for a night.”
Alva punched Jaskier softly in his side.
“You’re a douche. But if you want to know. I still think men are attractive. But in my opinion, women are as well. So why exactly decide?” Alva tried her best to explain Jaskier with the easiest way that she’s bisexual.
“Does that mean I still have a chance of winning you over?” Jaskier's typical smirk was setting and he wiggled with his eyebrows.
“Technically yes, but no thanks.”
“That was disappointing.”
The day went quietly after this. Alva was happy about the fact that Jaskier didn’t mind her sexuality at all. He was indeed a great friend. He kept it a secret as he promised. And he didn’t change one bit.
A couple of weeks later they were walking back from the village that was next to Walen. It was a one-day march but it didn’t bother them. Sevilla sent Alva to get herbs she ran out of and Jaskier gladly announced himself as her companion. He didn’t want her to get lost and a woman should never walk alone, in his opinion.
It was only about a half an hour walk left, they were just arriving in the forest of James when they saw black smoke rising from the direction they were heading. “What the hell?” Alva didn’t understand what that was supposed to be. It was new to her that the village people used smoke signals.
“That’s not good.” Jaskier started to run, Alva behind him. What’s happening? “Why are we running?”, called Alva so Jaskier was able to hear her through the cracking branches they were running over.
“I think Nilfgaard reached Walen! Hurry!”
Anxiety was crawling up her throat. This couldn’t be real. Sevilla warned her but she never took it that seriously. She thought this would never happen.
“Alva!” The familiar voice of James was ringing in her head. The Godling used this method a lot to talk to Alva without needing to be seen.
“What is happening, James?” “Nilfgaard raided the village not even ten minutes ago. You need to run away! Not in the direction of the village! It will be your death!” The Godling was panicking like a child. His voice sounded helpless.
“I have to make it. I need to see if Sevilla is okay. Can you shield us? I beg you, James.” Alva needed to flee with Sevilla, she was not going to leave her there. “I try my best. But there are too many. You won't have much time.”
“I don’t need long, just help us!”
In the far Sevilla's house came in sight. It looked like normal, only the pots and jar outside the house were broken.
“Be quiet. I saw some soldiers not far from here. It's Nilfgaard. We have to leave!” Jaskier was pushing her in a bush, trying to have at least a little bit of cover. Screams and cries became audible. Uncontrolled and painful.
“Sevilla had a plan. I need to get her. We have horses. You can come with us Jaskier. But I need to get Sevilla, do you understand?” Alva was determined.
She was not going to leave her. She was like a mother to her, all this time. She gave her a home when anyone else would have left her to die. The girl pushed the fabric of her dress aside, grabbing the hidden dagger.
“You are crazy! Going in there.”
“You will not stop me.”
“Alright then. Let’s go, you crazy girl. When we die, at least we’ll die together.”
They were slowly approaching the cottage. Trying to make out any sound.
“There is no one around you. You can enter.” James was back in her head. Alva didn’t hesitate anymore, breaking through the door.
It was horrifying. Everything was broken. All of the herbs were ripped out of their pots. All of their clothing was laying ripped on the floor. The fireplace was burning and tons of papers were stuffed into it.
But the worst thing was yet to come. Sevilla was laying on her stomach. The back part of an arrow was sticking out of her back.
“Sevilla!” The girl let out a shrieking scream. Jaskier quickly covered her mouth and held her in his arms.
The was so much blood. All of her clothes were colored in a dark red. She wasn’t moving anymore.
“Alva, you need to listen to me.” Jaskier was grabbing her face and trying to get her to focus. “I know this is hard but you have to grief later. She wouldn’t want you to die here. You told me she protected you, I understand. But we have to leave.”
Alva was frozen, not even noticing her tears falling to the floor. “I can't keep them away much longer Alva!” A panicked voice ripped her out of her trance state.
She wouldn’t want her to die. She has to live for her. “T- The rug. Under the rug.” Jaskier pushed the carpet aside and a hatch became visible.
Jaskier opened it and there were 6 bags stuffed together. Each of them grabbed three.
Alva was still looking at the corpse of Sevilla. She was lost in this world once again. No help to escape it.
“The horses! Where are they, Alva?” Jaskier started to panic like the girl.
“Behind the house in the shed.”
Both ran outside, with a last glance at the mage they left. The horses were still outside, visibly unsettled.
“Help me saddle them. Hurry up!” They fixed the straps and secured the bags. While doing that a not fell out of the pockets attached to the saddle. Quickly picking it up she stuffed it on the inside of her pants.
“You need to ride with this dress. Are you able to do that?” Jaskier wanted to make sure the girl stayed focused. It was the most important thing at the moment.
“N-no, I can't. B-but.” She held up her dagger and sliced the fabric of her legs. Ripping every single part of it off her body. Anger was building up in her body. “Stop that! We don’t have time for one of your outbreaks. Get up! Now!” Jaskier helped the girl on the horse and fastly climbed on the other one.
The horses picked up on speed. They could sense that they were in a dangerous situation. Alva looked back at the small village she called her home. But now she has to travel into the unknown with a bard my her side.
