yelena being aroace in the MCU is so important. it one of the only example of aspec representation in the main stream media and people shouldn’t be trying to take that away from us.

just because they haven’t confirmed she’s aroace doesn’t give people the right to ship her with people. straight is not the default, and neither is allo. especially when we know her sexuality in the comics which the entire MCU is based off of. straight isn’t the default and neither is allo romantic/sexual so people need to stop shipping her with people. it’s aphobic and disgussing.

if you ship yellena with bucky or anyone else because “ace or aro people can be in romantic relationship” but then never talk about the issues aspec people face or help project aspec voices, you aren’t helping the aspec community in any way. you are finding ways that your ship can still work while also finding an excuse on why what you are doing isnt aphobic. even if you aren’t aphobic, which most people who do this aren’t, it’s still SUPER amatanormative and just unnecessary.

the thing people don’t understand about being aromantic is how isolating it feels. like i’m missing a feeling that 99% of people have. not to mention it’s one that most people hold so highly. i would dread every game of truth or dare because people always accused me of lying because i would say i didn’t have a crush on anyone. this and so many other things made life really difficult until i found out i was aro.

i have no problem with people saying that being aromantic would be nice or that it would be easier but i think they also need to recognize the struggle that comes along with being aro.

i love rick riordans quizes i think because his website constantly has new engaging stuff has helped the fandom stay alive. that being said the godly parent quiz absolutely sucks. it is extremely predictable and everyone always gets the same gods. it wouldn’t be a problem if the other quizzes were terrible but the godly quiz one, that’s the single most important. it’s like if on the sorting hat quiz could only sort you into Gryffindor or Slytherin and like half the time it messed up. i don’t think this is rick riordans or his teams fault, i mean they are constantly making new quizes. i just wish as a fandom we could find another one that most people could use so that aren’t all either children of poseidon and athena when in reality we are something else.

i woke up on june to find my instagram page flooded with art and textposts about the queer pjo characters which i was so exited about. but as i scrolled down i started to notice that the only characters there were Nico, Will, Apollo, Piper, Lavinia, and sometimes other headcanons. don’t get me wrong it’s super exiting to see all the gay characters getting lots of attention but there are others who are queer who aren’t just gay. like Reyna has been canoned as asexual yet the fandom continues to ignore this over and over again. i get that it’s a fairly new thing so obviously there isn’t as much content about it but when i see all the queer characters in art, including the new ones like lavinia and piper, yet reyna isn’t there it just shows how people think of asexual characters.

this always happenes with aspec characters where their identity is completely ignored. this also shows what others (sometimes unconsciously) think about aspec peoples place in the queer community and i find this so infuriating

yesterday i was talking to my friends and all of sudden they started talking about love. i asked one of them “what even is love” and the second just looked at me and said something along the lines of “wow that’s way to deep for me.” in my brain i was like no i’m not meaning to be deep or whatever i’m just a confused aromantic who has no idea what the hell romantic love is. that’s the thing allo don’t get is that some aromantics genuinely don’t understand what romantic love is or what it feels like.

wlw Artemis and aspec Artemis can both exist and people shouldn’t be saying others idea of artemis sexuality isn’t valid is stupid. this doesn’t mean you can’t try to explain why you see her as one sexuality and why you don’t see her as another but you shouldn’t be telling others she can’t be a sexuality just because it’s not the one you see. Artemis was created by a bunch of different peoples ideas plus she’s an ancient greek goddess so there is no way to know her sexuality or even if our modern terms can difine it.

i have seen a lot of posts about how making characters, specifically kids, asexual is inappropriate. i have a lot of problems with that but since i can’t go into a bunch of different characters i’m just going to use Reyna from PJO. for those who don’t know Reyna has been canoned as asexual by rick riordan throughly twitter. in tyrants tomb she also went on a long rant about how she didn’t need romance to have a fulfilling life (sounds pretty arospec to me but that a discussion for another time.) she had a whole talk about how she wasn’t broken for not liking people in that way (which i cried through the entire thing.) afterwards a lot of people were really made because Rick Riordan called out a bunch of theyna (thalia/reyna) shipers and a bunch of people called him lesbophobic. this happenes a lot with characters who are canoned as asexual later in a series. it is quite aphobic in many ways. first of all just because a character is asexual doesn’t mean they can’t have a romantic relationship. secondly theyna was not cannoned so it’s not like he was killing a relationship just so he could have them both be hunters of artemis. i have a lot of problems with people saying that they shouldn’t be asexual because they are children and it’s inappropriate. first of all they aren’t children they are teens and second no one has any trouble when authors put two really young people in a man loving women relashionship so why would the lack of sexual attraction be a problem. this has the same mindset as the people who tell acespecs (asexual spectrum) that the only person who should know they are aspec is their partener. asexual people exist and often don’t have any representation so it’s difficult for them to know that they are asexual or even for them to know that the label asexual exists. having aspec representation helps normalize asexuality which is so important and helps people feel seen and not so alone. i just wanted to make it clear that i don’t think Reyna is the perfect example of aspec representation in fact she is actually quite problematic. i will be going into that in another post in the near future.

my hunters of artemis opinions and headcanons kind of based on pjo

1. people of all sexuality’s can join the hunt

that being said

2. the hunt is a no romance area

3. headcanon: Contrary to what was said in the percy jackson books, people can leave at anytime and everyone fully supports them no matter their reason for leaving

4. headcanon: the hunters speak whatever language they want and it’s translated to the language the person hearing it is most comfortable with

5. the hunt is for anyone who isn’t a boy it’s not just for people who were assigned female at birth. it’s for trans girl (obviously) but also for non-binary people, agender, two spirited, genderfluid, and any other gender.

6. not everyone has to be masculin or even physically strong

7. headcanon: when someone is joinging the hunt their families memories are altered so they know where that person is but at the same time don’t if that makes any sense at all

8. headcanon: the hunters have a family and friend visiting day. if anyone doesn’t have any family or friends their hunt friends will take them to meet their family and friends.

9. headcanon: the hunters can be of all ages when they join but artemis will often make them look how they appeared when they were or what the will look at age 12-15 if they are ok with it

10. headcanon: the hunters visit camp half blood a lot to recruit people and to beat them again at capture the flag
