Today I told my dad that I need new friends. I’ve been disappointed, upset and frustrated for such a long time now. I needed a breath of fresh air.

Thanks to spring, a few kids from the neighborhood came over to play in the yard with my dog. And I found myself giggling with kids I’ve known since they were born. Pushing them on the swings, asking them what exactly they love about mermaids, hearing, “and do you know what else?!” Watching excited grins split across their faces, and remembering when it was my brother and my neighbors playing, without a care in the world.

I looked at them, remembering when I held them as babies, when I was really still just a baby myself, though I didn’t think so then.

Sometimes I find that I’m too “mature” for people my own age. That emotional intelligence is a burden, and i can never truly be seen the way I desperately want to be.

It turns out I just needed my inner child to wake up. Spring always reminds me that I am not alone, it’s when I go outside and remember that there is a whole world outside of my own mind.

I feel whole now. The little girl that lives in my heart is content for now. Back then all she wanted was a dog. And I watched my perfect dog play with kids who made my heart ache and fill with joy all at once.

That’s what I needed.

Each of the marauders characters as a choir member:

James: He’s definitely a bass, and also definitely messes around on the risers. everyone loves him but he contributes to the director’s passive aggressive shushing

Sirius: tenor, and purposefully moves to stand next to the bass section to muck around with James and harass Remus. Always gets solos

Remus: Bass, could have solos but refuses to try out. Joined because Lily asked him to, but ended up loving it

Peter: tenor, gets angry when people stand in front of him and block his view, cannot solfège anything to save his life

Lily: soprano, her and Remus make faces at each other across the stage, annoyed by James and Sirius but also thinks they’re funny, is the reason everyone else joined

Marlene: alto, tries to get Lily and Mary’s attention from across the room, whines about the songs when they don’t have movement

Mary: soprano, adores choreography, a favorite but very humble about this, knows she’s good, sings all the high notes but has RANGE, soloist with Sirius

Dorcas: alto, hates choreo on the risers, once had to dance with Marlene and decided it wasn’t so bad, has an amazing lower register

I just saw two little boys running and playing together, and one of them fell behind a bit, so the other turned around and gently took his hand to make sure he could catch up and then they just smiled at each other😭 (very James and Sirius of them)

Marlene: A skeleton (and she jumped out and scared everyone)

Dorcas: pink lady from grease (She’s pure blood, and Marlene tricked her into thinking it was a scary costume)

okay I love the “wolfstar telling James they’re together” fluff but this is just too good
