Did some weapon designs for an art challenge sometime ago -- my art style's changed, but out of the rest that I did, these are some of my favorites <3
(And, they were breakthroughs for me and my art journey!)

Reminder to make sure your art files are psds or csps or whatever
Because SOME dummies (like me right now) accidentally save them as a PNG or whatever, and you have to make do with the single layer your art or work in progress or whatever is on. Ugh. At least it's only the rough sketch phase...

AI isn't the future. You know what is the future? Eating ice cream with forks, and I'll stand by that belief until I die And even after I die, I guarantee you'll see my ghost having a delicious forkful of chocolate flavored ecto-ice cream. Because a different utensil makes all the difference (somehow...)

Fun fact about Ancient Egypt: In letters sent to relatives, superiors, friends, and co-workers, it was very commonplace to inquire about how they were
And I do mean inquire:

Sketch I did last night - haven't drawn Lady Catherine in a long, long while ^^ (Renset is just a recolor for a tabletop character that may or may not happen. The REAL one is all maroon and red-tan :) )

Executions are Everything
Have you heard about the saying "A poor strategy well executed is better than a great strategy poorly executed"? Well, hopefully it sounds straight forward enough, because in my belief, sticking the landing is what makes your story or creation work, period.
Don't get me wrong, planning is important, but although you might have a really solid story that will be the poster boy of the Pulitzer Prize, how that project is directed is just as important as how it's written.
Let's say, there's a story about a city or society that's 100% gay, 100% LGBTQ+. There's culture and science and openness galore, but despite there being virtually no room for homophobia by any larger powers, strangely, there's still a degree of infighting. In this case, sexualities have been so politicized that being gay or trans or enby is less of a gender identity and more of a national identity, or political identity.
There's definitely a lot of ways that one can play with this world; you could worldbuild the hell out of it and get a cool tabletop scenario. You could explore the themes and messages of it, and see the correlations. Or you could just make it a place to roleplay in.
So... what if this story just became another soapbox?
What if the lead character(s) just got on a stage and simply told all the gay political groups that fighting is bad and wrong, and they should just get along, despite the divides and apparent issues in this world? What if the story just pushed down straight people, not to show a compare and contrast to our current society, but just because it could? What if the author said "progression" while stereotyping the hell out of the communities shown in the story?
This is getting pretty long, I know, but I wanted to come up with a very clear example for my point. You could have a really great, unique idea, but that idea has to be carried out well.
Think about how you want to communicate these ideas, and trust yourself in carrying them out.
Spend as much time developing the impact of the story, make sure you're pleased by it, but don't forget to take other perspectives into account!

Tropes Aren't Evil
You might've heard in a creative workshop class to avoid tropes like the bubonic plague, or on Tumblr, or maybe even wattpad. Some of these tropes include, but are not limited to:
The magic portal to a different world, where instead of boring old school with homework, it's funyuns awesome m a g i c school with e n c h a n t e d homework
Enemies to lovers, because Eros has an itchy trigger finger and spent an all-nighter making more than 500 arrows for his chaotic ships
Or, the classic "I've gone all this way to kill you for revenge, but I actually don't want to do that, because it's useless/I changed my mind/I forgot who you were" trope. I actually really like this one, if it makes sense.
While it is quite important to be aware of tropes, avoiding them doesn't have to be the solution; because tropes have been present all throughout the history of literature, from Star Wars to Journey to the West.
If you're panicking because there are tropes in your story or your characters, and you don't want them to be unoriginal or boring to you or your audience, find some time to write or type out on a doc on what that trope is, and how you can play with it, roll with the punches, so to speak.
Do you want to subvert it? Make it some kind of mirror or even allegory? Do you want to go all the way?!
You don't have to re-invent the wheel when it comes to tropes. And trying to scour them from your story is especially counterproductive, because think about it...
What's the last thing you can think of that's 100% tropeless?
