Severus Snape and James Potter were both horrible people in their own ways. No arguing I do not want any kind of arguments . I don’t care what any of you say, they were both horrible. People Stan James because he did what?? He fought for the order? So did Snape in the end. You Stan James because Severus bullied people. So did James. James hung Severus upside down and pulled his pants off in front of half of their year. Snape never did that to anyone.

Snape was horrible because he was a death eater. After the prophecy shit happened though he joined the order he put his life at risk every single day because he hoped he could be good he wanted to be better. He wanted to be better for Lily because he believed he loved her.

I think he was obsessed with her but you know what so was James. James asked her out everyday, he harassed her every single day for almost their entire school years. Severus believed he loved lily he wanted to be with her because she was the one person that stood by him, she was there for him when no one else was. She was his escape, his safe place. And James took that from him. James had a safe place to go during his breaks. He had a loving family. Severus didn’t. Severus had an abusive father and a mother who couldn’t protect herself let alone her son. James bullied Severus because Severus wore green instead of red. James bullied Severus because Severus was friends with Lily.

I will admit that Severus was a bully as well but most of the time Severus was simply retaliating against the marauders for something that they had done to him.

James grew and he matured but that doesn’t excuse what he did to Severus.

Severus bullied Harry Potter because he looked exactly like James, though that is no excuse for bullying him and humiliating him in front of his entire class. Severus also protected Harry, maybe it was on Dumbledores orders but he still did it. Severus did so much because Dumbledore told him to.

Severus pretty much sold his entire life to Dumbledore because he wanted to keep the woman he loved safe.



James was a bully. Severus was a bully. Neither were truly good people.

You blame James being a bully on him being a child. That is no excuse for the way he treated people. James didn’t just bully Severus either. James potter bullied any and every person who even dared to wear green robes.

I love Severus Snape. And I also love James Potter. But I can also realize that neither were as good as anyone makes them out to be. They were both bullies. They both started shit. But they both fought for the right side in the end.

Controversial Opinion; Lily Should Have Ended Up With Sirius

Just look at how James is characterised, and his habits. You know that stereotypical love triangle where she has to choose between her childhood best friend whose always been there for her and genuinely cares about what she wants, but then she also has the dickheaded popular guy that all the girls want chasing after her. It’s obvious who she should choose, but we all know she’s going to choose the dickhead. That’s basically what Snily vs Jily is.

Honestly, I don’t think she should end up with either of them. Severus is a better option, however that doesn’t make him a good option, since she just doesn‘t feel that way about him. James … how do I say this in a way that won’t offend his stans…? James is a pigheaded, misogynistic, child sex offender with anger issues, to put it blankly.

James‘ character behaves in a way that if we met any person in real life acting like that, we’d call them out for their behaviour. Hell, I don’t doubt he’d become a tik tok fuckboy in our generation. (Am I wrong?) The issue I always had with his character is that he doesn’t really get a redemption. He‘s just a horrible person that isn’t blood racist, and so in this standard of life that makes him good, and he somehow is the one that gets the girl. If I met a James Potter I would fucking demolish him verbally, until he had to crawl away. Give him a good old fashioned Norse flyting.

He doesn’t seem to have motives for his behaviour either. We excuse his behaviour and chalk it up to immature adolescence, but at that age normally you aren’t molesting your classmates. He fucking took Severus’ trousers, and then his pants, to show an entire class his dick and we’re going to excuse the fact that he sexually assaulted a minor because of what exactly? James joined the Order while Severus only did it for ”selfish“ reasons. Severus was willing to betray Lord Voldemort because he cared that deeply for his childhood friend, who had abandoned him after his assault, because he’s a decent fucking person.

James‘ character is shown to hate Slytherins with no reason apart from “they’re evil”. Um, sir, this is you trying to look for a good reason to treat them like shit. I believe if you had a good reason you wouldn’t need to make up some silly excuse. But you don’t. Why? Because there is no good reason for abusing and assaulting your fellow classmates. If you actually analyse James, he’s doing all of this out of anger at Lily. That is his motive, because he is a psycho.

Lily does anything or says anything that James doesn’t like, and he lashed out by punishing the Slytherins. Specifically Severus for being the one to make her reject him. Because Lily can’t possibly just not be interested, no there must be something else at play. Alright James, whatever you need to tell yourself to boost your ego.

James straight up tries to blackmail Lily into dating him. He doesn’t care what she wants. He doesn’t care what she’s interested in. He only cares that she ends up with him, and doesn’t think for herself. Because he’s a misogynistic asshole. This is canon, I’m not even kidding. I know people like James, and they legit don’t care about what their girlfriends want, because she’s just a trophy to them. It’s ridiculous that more people aren’t talking about this, and yet we’re talking about how Severus once gave Neville some off putting incentive to finish his work.

I think Lily should have ended up with Sirius. Not because I legitimately ship their characters, but I honestly just think he’s the only one that would treat her with respect. Remus and Tonks need to end up together because I honestly love them, Severus needs to keep within his sort of plot line, Peter is Peter, and James isn’t an option as we’ve discussed.

I think it would have made for an interesting plot of Lily had ended up with Sirius. Because Sirius does have a proper motive to lash out and act the way he does, and we do watch him redeem himself. It also would have made for some interesting opportunities, since Harry and Draco would be cousins.

Draco and the rest of the Malfoy’s have an incredible loyalty to family. Sure, Harry and Draco don’t get along, but there’s a mutual agreement that family is family, and you don’t hurt your own family. I think Narcissa would find it more difficult to help Voldemort than Bellatrix, but Bellatrix might be reluctant. This could also be the tuning point for Regulus, realising Voldemort’s victory meant harming his brother and nephew. I imagine Harry would end up with Andromeda rather than the Dursley’s in this AU as well.

At the end of the day, almost the entire Black family would turn their back on blood racism and pureblood supremacy for the sake of family. Bellatrix might be too far gone, with how enamoured she is with Voldemort, but she’d be reluctant to harm Harry.

This would also mean that Peter framed James for being the traitor, blaming it on his jealousy and inability to get over a schoolyard crush. But if James isn’t interested in Lily anymore, I think he has the capacity to grow. He didn’t get what he wanted, things didn’t go his way, so in the end he did mature and realise the error in his ways. He’s not going to pursue Lily, or even a romantic partner, because his time in Azkaban taught him that he needed to reevaluate his life.
