hihi! i found your blog a few days ago and to sum it up I FEEL SEEN. i joined the marauders fandom a little while ago and read the powerpoints, other peoples takes on the characters, seen videos, and posts, and am currently reading atyd but, some of the things i’ve seen kinda just irked me?

and then i found your blog and all of a sudden i kid you not a beam of light enveloped the room, LMFAO I FELT SO HEARD AND SEEN and your posts are so well written and outspoken -something i could have never even try to do. i’ve seen people literally be eaten alive in comments if someone disagrees with a certain popular opinion or ship and that was insane to me like, ISNT THIS FANDOM MAJORITY MADE UP??

anyways thank you for being the beacon of hope <3

(also the one thing that really struck me wrong was the obsession of mlm in the fandom? like they’ll pump out mlm ships and characters i’ve never heard of WAYYY before they remember the women in the fandom. like?? i wanna see more dorlene stuff and a canon complaint lily fic from her perspective! women are so complicated and beautiful i just wanna see some representation and justice for them. for a fandom that preaches representation they really do forget all the women they’ve created. they all make them seem like they’re getting in the way of the mlm ships. for example, marlene being sirius, “crazy” ex, lily getting in the way of jegulas “a bitch”, mary never having a personality other than being pretty -LIKE??? anyways id love to hear your thoughts on this)

As for the obsession with mlm thing, I feel like every fandom has their fair share of that, usually it’s just fetishization but honestly, while I could be wrong I do feel with the marauders fandom it’s only partly that(there is definitely fetishization though don’t get me wrong)a part of it I think stems from misogyny/internalized misogyny, but I think a lot of it is a part of this fandom’s inability to write certain things, that being non one dimensional women, and sure sometimes you come across a gorgeously written post, but for the most part, the women, even if they’re not written as cartoon villains, never have that much depth, like Lily for example, she could be a main character aside Regulus in something, but she’d never as developed as Regulus, her flaws are easy to fix/easy to understand(and that’s IF she has any). I feel like a part of the fandom thinks that putting Lily in a different relationship and calling it a day with no expansion on her character besides “hot BAMF queen”, is somehow different that making her a cartoon villain, when they’re both basically the same.

I think it heavily stems from misogyny and just not being able to write women with flaws, (of course it’s not just a problem with the lack of flaws in women but I won’t get into that right now lol)

This fandom loves making Dumbledore seem like the most evil guy around, but he’s just very morally grey, he didn’t know Sirius was not guilty, because Sirius CONSIDERED himself guilty, which, he kinda was, inadvertently of course, but still.

Dumbledore didn’t manipulate Remus into following him, because Remus felt indebted to him due to Albus allowing him to go to Hogwarts.

Dumbledore didn’t want another Grindelwald, so, he did everything to stop it, which meant that Harry would have to be the one to stop it.

Dumbledore doesn’t manipulate people into following him, or blackmail them, because he doesn’t have to. Who would question one of the most powerful wizards in the world?

One for the many and all that.

Obviously not fair towards Harry, but genuinely let’s think about what would’ve happened if Voldemort HAD won?

EXACTLY, it’s quite annoying, I dunno WHO decided to make Sirius weak and stupid but it drives me up a wall.

Current day Wolfstar(let me preface this by saying, you should take liberties when it comes to these character, JKR sucks, these are just my gripes with how the fandom currently perceives these two)

Aka I’m annoyed so I’m making it everyone else’s problem. The “stupid feminine Sirius who’s 5’4 and who’s oh so much uglier than Remus, and he’s basically just a charity case!” STOP IT, stop it stop it, stop it. I have zero problem with feminine Sirius, go wild, my problem is with relating femininity to weakness and stupidity.

Also, I am so, SO sick of “big alpha 6’5 hot Gryffindor Casanova Remus Lupin”, not only does it not make sense, it’s annoying, and it reinforces gender roles. Remus Lupin spent his whole life being told he was basically a big scary monster, who can’t be around other children, HOW do you think he would react to being perceived as this big angry asshole with no regard for the people around him?

ALSO, Remus Lupin was NOT drop dead gorgeous, I’m sorry to say, he was not the hottest guy around(that is still my darling man and I will not tolerate anything against my darling man), he was a scrawny werewolf with scars, and premature lines and shabby clothing, if anything, he looked like an anemic average British man in the seventies, if not below average.

Sirius was literally “Hogwarts’ pretty boy”. I’m not saying this to make Remus seem like a charity case, because, wolfstar is pointless when you make one the “man” or “woman”, or “hot” and “ugly”, i’m saying this because Casanova Remus Lupin annoys me, if ANYONE was “Casanova of Gryffindor Tower” it was Sirius Black. (I also think people forget the negative connotation with the term “Casanova”, which is sometimes annoying to see when talking about Remus, or Sirius)

Also, I could talk about how canonically, Sirius was the tallest marauder, or how a huge part of his character was HOW hot he was, I could talk about how he was hotter than Regulus, i COULD talk about how Remus wasn’t the smartest marauder, I could talk about how Sirius is canonically an overly clever wizard, I could talk about how if anyone is aggressive between the two, it was Sirius, but, I don’t think I will, because that will seem like I’m trying to push Sirius being the “aggressive man” of the two, and Remus being the “ugly woman” of the two, and I don’t believe that,

I’ve seen a lot of people talk about how they don’t like the a lot of the things that the movies changed, which is fair, I’m a bit annoyed about a lot of it too, HOWEVER for the gripes against Bellatrix carving “mudblood” into Hermione’s arm, I’d like to talk about why I personally think that it was a good call.

Sure I understand the “why wouldn’t Bellatrix just use her wand?” but I think it adds insult to injury, Bellatrix, who oh so hated muggles, carving the term into Hermione’s arm in the most muggle way possible.

I understand the “why would Bellatrix do that if she was just going to kill Hermione?” i personally think it yet again adds insult to injury, Hermione is aware she’s most likely going to die, there is almost nothing more insulting than having a term that had been used against her again and again, carved into her arm, right before she dies.

I understand why a lot of people dislike it, but I personally think it also represents just how vile and cruel Bellatrix truly was. In fact, it’s probably one of my favorites things(of the very few) that the movies added.

“Especially if the male character treated the female character like shit and wished death on her multiple times,” everyone cheers again.

“If the only way you can make your ship work is by completely desecrating one or both of the character’s personalities, maybe it’s not that good of a ship” everyone cheers and claps.

About to say something controversial, potentially, Lily cared more about her friendship ending with Snape, then Remus cared about the Prank.

Vice versa too, Snape cared more about his actions against Lily, then Sirius cared about his actions against Remus.

Glorious angst right there on both their parts. Sirius’ vindication in his actions, and Remus’ cowardice stopping him from truly being upset with him(or if you’re a wolfstar fan, potential romantic interest). Snape’s humiliation and venom filled words, and Lily’s exhaustion and hurt.

Also, LET THE RECORD BE SHOWN, that Lily was going to forgive Snape, IF Snape had denied becoming a Death Eater, because he did not deny it, THAT was the official end of their friendship.

LET THE RECORD BE SHOWN AGAIN, when met with his actions against Remus again, Sirius JUSTIFIED his actions and felt ZERO remorse towards his actions toward Snape, potential remorse could have been felt after the prank, but after twelve years in Azkaban, I doubt he felt that bad about it when in a room with the rat that murdered his best friends, and ruined his life.

Oh my God, the angst writes itself people, you could do SO much with that, and I’m not even a Snape fan, and I LOVE Sirius.

This isn’t a slander post towards anyone, but this also is NOT a romantic snily post, not a fan of that. Let Lily be sad about her six-seven year long friendship ending guys :(

The “Romione doesn’t work because they argue all the time” argument doesn’t work because they were A. Teenagers with confusing feelings for the other and B. Their bickering and bantering over a course of seven books is WHY they work so well, bickering and bantering in a relationship are CRUICAL, even more, the differences in their smarts make them work even better, while Hermione is book smart, Ron is street smart.

Ron needs responsibility and control in his life, Hermione needs to let loose and needs LESS control in her life, THEY’RE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER. Even more so, Hermione is career driven and stubborn, while Ron is family driven and laidback, they work so well.
