ZHONGLI is a bit of an old-timer when it comes to dating. To him, dating is a commitment, and he doesn't like the thought of it being seen as anything but less. And with you, he sees it quite well.
He's quite devoted to people that he cares for: in work, private, and even with his friends. In Aether's words, he is the epitome of one of the good men that the app can provide. For ZHONGLI, though, he expects the same commitment as you do.
He does find such hyperfixations interesting, and dare he say, cute. He doesn't mind if you call him one night and start talking about what caught your eye, as he thinks its a good excuse to listen to your voice and note what makes you so interested. For ZHONGLI, what he cherishes is the now, especially after what happened in the past.
The one thing he has that you must follow isー

A year ago, you had left Austin, leaving no trace behind you, not even footprints for those who wanted to remember you. You become a gosht for some, for others a persistent torment.
No letters.
No souvenirs.
No goodbyes.
You just simply left behind every trace that reminded you of Joel. From a chilly winter night, following the gathering of your family’s Christmas Eve party, that used to have people together, when you found yourself waking up under the sheets of your father neighbor’s, and friend's bed.
You couldn’t lie and say there wasn’t anything between you two. Your father had introduced you both at a dinner party for your mother’s birthday. From that moment your paths crossed in an incandescent glow, painting the gray skies in a multicolor universe you hadn’t had the chance to meet before.
And it was that night, at the Christmas Eve party, when you met sin. The exchange of gazes was a secret in a crowded room, with nobody getting the idea about you and him. At that moment, his eyes were on you and he made everyone disappear, building up an electric friction between you. A spark, a connection that transcended the glow of the twinkling lights and laughs around.
He spoke a language that only you were able to understand.
All the months of passing back and forth, blossomed into a romantic interaction that made you understand Joel was just not a passing spark; he stroked the flame of your starved heart and you refused to let it be extinguished.
But when you both disappeared that night, breaking the rules of your illicit affair under the sheets of his bed, you lost him.
When the morning came, you couldn’t face the consequences of what had happened, nor was he staring out the window instead of your face, detached and distant. The gravity followed a blind faith and left you both in broken pieces with neither of daring to face the aftermath of your promise being broken.
Nothing beyond these kisses can happen between us. He said one day.
His voice, the way he said it still echoed in your mind. And you both were crazy to think that something between you both could work when the world around you was against it.
And he knew you would eventually leave this town to follow your dreams, but he didn’t know you would do it too soon.
Two days after no communication, you left him behind.
Without a warning, without a last chance to look at your face or to kiss your lips. You just simply vanished from his touch.
You disappeared with his love as a forbidden secret.
You never were able to break a heart until you broke his.
Now, as Christmas approached once again, you found yourself back in your hometown, nestled within the protection of the walls of your parents. The air was thick with the essence of the spirits you hid in the closet before leaving this town behind, the same now were plotting to escape and ruin your stay in this place you used to call home.
As you entered the house, the scent of holiday pastries and the picture of mixed decorations enveloped you. Your mother with joy, welcomed you with open arms. Your father, a man of few words, gave you a nod, acknowledging your return.
Sitting in the living room, surrounded by the ghosts of your past, your mother couldn't help but sense the heaviness that lingered in your eyes. She looked at you with a mother's intuition, sensing that there was more to your return than a simple visit.
"What's on your mind, dear?" she asked gently, her eyes filled with both curiosity and concern.
Your mother studied you for a moment, her gaze penetrating through the layers of your facade. She could sense the weight of unspoken words hanging in the air, but she chose not to press further, respecting the boundaries you set.
"If you ever want to talk, remember that I'm here," she said, her voice carrying the comfort of maternal understanding.
“Yes, you can start by explaining why you left the city without a warning” your father spoke, a tint of sadness and anger in his words.
You took a deep breath, grappling with the internal turmoil that had led you to this moment. The ghosts of your past, once neatly tucked away, seemed to stir, threatening to break free from their confines.
"It's complicated, Dad," you began, the words hesitant but genuine. "I... I needed to leave. There were things I couldn't face, mistakes I made that I needed to distance myself from."
He sighed, a mixture of understanding and frustration in his eyes. "We all make mistakes, but leaving without a word, without letting us know if you were safe, that hurt, Honey. We're your family."
The weight of your actions settled in, and you nodded, the guilt evident in your expression. "I know, Dad. I should have handled it differently. But at that time, I couldn't see any other way."
Your mother reached out, placing a comforting hand on your shoulder. "We just want to understand, dear. It's been hard for us”
“But I’m here now, and New York has treated me well”
Your mother offered a gentle smile, relieved to have you back within the folds of the family. "We're glad you're here, sweetheart. New York is a big city, and we were worried about you navigating it alone."
You took a moment to reflect on your time in New York, appreciating the opportunities and challenges the city had presented. "It's been a journey, for sure. The city is fast-paced, and there's always something happening. But I've been learning a lot and, overall, things have been treating me well."
Your father's stern expression softened as he listened to your words. "Just remember, we're here for you, no matter where life takes you. Just because you’re an adult doesn’t mean you have to face everything alone."
The warmth in your mother's touch and the understanding in your father's words brought a sense of comfort, a reassurance that, despite the complexities of the past, your family remained a big support.
“Your brother and sister are arriving soon, why don’t you go to rest a bit?” your mom said.
You nodded, appreciative of the suggestion. "Yeah, maybe a short rest would do me good. It's been a long journey."
Your mother gave you a tender smile, her eyes filled with maternal concern. "Take your time, dear. We're just happy to have you home."
As you made your way to the guest room, you couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. The familiar surroundings of your childhood home embraced you like a comforting blanket, and the echoes of laughter from the living room reminded you of the shared joy of family.
Closing the door to the guest room, you let out a sigh, allowing the weight of the past to settle for a moment. The bed, adorned with a quilt your mother had made years ago, seemed to invite you into its embrace.
As you lay down, the memories of New York and the complexities you left behind in Austin played like a film reel in your mind. The warmth of your mother's touch and the understanding in your father's words provided a glimmer of solace, a reminder that, despite the unspoken secrets, the bonds of family remained resilient.
And you fell asleep thinking about how after a year, only a door separated you from Joel now.
Tumblr media
A few hours later, you were gently stirred from your sleep by the soft voice of your niece. The warm sunlight filtered through the curtains, casting a golden glow on the room announcing the darkness of the night was arriving.
"Aunt! Aunt!" she exclaimed; her excitement palpable.
You blinked, adjusting to the daylight, and smiled at the sight of your enthusiastic niece. "Hey there, little one. What's going on?"
With uncontainable joy, she announced, "Mom and Dad are here! Uncle is here too!"
Your grogginess melted away as you realized what those words meant. Your family has reunited together again, a moment you had been looking forward to since you moved to another a year ago.
With your energy back, you joined your nice as she led the way to the living room, where the air was already buzzing with the chatter and laughter of your siblings and brother-in-law. Once your figure emerged in the room, your older sister Emma and big brother Andy greeted you with big smiles on their faces.
"Look who's finally awake!" your Emma exclaimed, pulling you into a tight embrace.
Andy, with his characteristic humor, added, "Thought you were going to sleep through the whole reunion." He spoke, going for a hug as your sister pulled away “I’ve been missing you so much big baby”
"I've been missing you too, big brother," you replied, returning his hug.  All the sadness bubbling inside you melted away with the warmth of the family reunion.
Your niece, still bubbling with excitement, chimed in, "My aunt was sleeping like a bear, but I woke her up!"
Your brother-in-law, joining the playful banter, teased, "Sleeping beauty finally awakens."
“Hi there Troy” you smiled at him, hugging him.
"Hi, you," Troy replied, returning the hug with a friendly pat on the back. The room echoed with the easy banter and laughter that characterized the unique dynamics of your family.
As you settled into the reunion, you all sat around the table eating dinner your mom and dad had cooked for this moment. The atmosphere of the night went back and forth from playful conversation to the serious tone of the real adult life you all were living.  Emma, always worried about you, asked you about your life in New York and the adventures you have lived since you left Austin.
"It's been a journey," you shared a reflective note in your voice. "New York is a world of its own, but I've been learning a lot, both about the city and myself."
Troy chimed in, "I've seen your updates on Instagram. Big city life suits you; it seems."
You nodded, appreciating the support "It has its challenges, but I've found my way. And how have things been here?" you asked, turning the focus back to your family.
Emma shared stories of family adventures, your niece animatedly described the school, and Troy added humorous anecdotes. The room resonated with the warmth of shared moments, creating a tapestry of memories that wove together in the past, finding its way to the present.
As the lively dinner conversation continued, your family members took turns sharing anecdotes and updates about their lives. Laughter echoed through the room, creating an atmosphere of familiarity and connection.
Your dad, sitting at the head of the table, finally chimed in with a gleam in his eye. "Speaking of repairs, Joel stopped by yesterday and helped me fix the leaky faucet in the kitchen. Handy fellow, that one."
The mention of Joel's made your heart skip a beat, causing a subtle shift in your demeanor.
"Oh, really?" you replied, your voice carefully neutral. "That's... helpful."
Your father continued to tell you all about the unexpected repair session, praising Joel's handy talents and charming demeanor. The words hung in the air, and you were unable to ignore your sister, sitting opposite you. Her curious glance briefly met yours, and you could sense her interest bubbling underneath the outer layer.
As the dinner conversation progressed, Emma successfully directed the conversation to more general topics, including everyone in a discussion about Christmas preparation and traditions. Her attentive eyes, on the other hand, suggested a level of awareness that went beyond what was visible to everyone at the table.
Emma's focused gaze, on the other hand, continued to indicate awareness, and you couldn't shake the sense that she was puzzling together the puzzle. The affair between you and Joel had left a mark, and the holiday reunion had become a delicate dance of concealing and disclosing, and you were concerned that your illicit affair would eventually come to light.
Later in the evening, as the rest of the family dispersed around the house, you and Emma found yourselves sitting together with cookies and tea in hand. The festive decorations adorned the living room, casting a warm glow on the surroundings.
Emma's focused gaze hinted at the questions lingering beneath the surface. The casual conversation about Christmas preparations and traditions gradually gave way to a more personal inquiry.
Sipping her tea, Emma finally reached the subject. "So, how's love life in New York? Anything interesting happening?”
You pulled a smile amid your anxious flutter. "Oh, you know, the usual city hustle and bustle. My romantic life, on the other hand, has been relatively quiet.”
Emma raised an eyebrow, a knowing glint in her eyes. "Quiet, huh? I find that hard to believe. What about that guy you were seeing last year?"
Your heart skipped a beat, and you struggled to maintain composure. "Guy? What guy?" you asked, faking innocence.
Emma leaned in, her expression holding curiosity. "Come on, don't play coy with me. I noticed something was going on between you and Joel last year. Don't tell me I was imagining things."
Feigning nonchalance, you attempted to divert the conversation. "Joel and I were just friends. You know how it is people misinterpret things."
But Emma wasn't easily swayed. She raised an eyebrow, a skeptical expression on her face. "Just friends? The way you two looked at each other went beyond friendship, and I'm not imagining things."
You sighed, realizing that you couldn't dismiss her observations easily. "Okay, maybe there was something more," you admitted reluctantly. "But it was complicated, and I didn't want to bring unnecessary drama into the family."
Emma's expression softened with understanding, but a hint of concern remained. "Complicated how?"
“Come on Emma, he is fifteen years older than me and Dad loves him, imagine how fucked up for him to know her daughter was dating his friend who happens to be his neighbor.”
Emma's eyes widened with realization, and she nodded in understanding. "Oh, I see. That does sound complicated."
You continued, your voice carrying the weight of the unspoken challenges. "And there were other factors too. Career aspirations, the age difference, and the fear of disrupting the family dynamic—it just wasn't sustainable."
She placed a reassuring hand on yours. "I get it. Relationships can be messy, especially when they involve people close to home. But, darling, you can't carry all of that on your shoulders alone. We're family, and we're here for you."
You offered a small smile, appreciating Emma's support. "Thanks, Em. It's just been a lot to process."
You hesitated, weighing your words carefully. "We knew it wouldn't work. There were too many obstacles, and we decided it was best to end things."
Emma studied your face, her gaze searching for the truth beneath the surface. "And now? Have you moved on?"
You nodded, a sense of resignation settling over you. "Yes, I've moved on. New York has been a fresh start for me, and I've been focusing on my career and personal growth."
Emma's gaze softened with empathy. "I just want you to be happy, you know? If there's anything you need to talk about, I'm here for you."
“Thank you, Em,” you said, holding her hand.

The following day, with your parent's Christmas party approaching, you, your father, and your brother made your way to the supermarket to buy the groceries. The upcoming celebration was a tradition for your parents and the joy of this day has been filling the air, since your arrival, so the three of you navigated the aisles of the supermarket, filling the cart with the essentials.
When your father and brother went to another aisle, you started looking for some drinks. Your attention momentarily deviated, and you collided with someone. The impact jolted through you, and as you steadied yourself, you found your eyes locking with someone you wanted to avoid,
Joel.
And there, in the middle of the aisle, time seemed to stand still. The echoes of your past encounters resurfaced. Joel’s gaze held a mix of surprise, and for a moment both of you were silent, not knowing how to react.
"Hi," Joel finally said, breaking the silence. His voice carried a weight in his words, and you could feel the venom.
"Hi," you replied, your voice tinged with shame and sadness. The supermarket aisle suddenly felt like a confined space, threatening you.
When Joel was about to say something else, your father and brother joined you in the aisle, noticing Joel standing there in front of you.
“Joel!” your father exclaimed with a smile “Fancy meeting you here, I suppose you’re coming tomorrow?”
"Hey!” Joel greeted them, reciprocating the smiles. “I wouldn’t miss it”
“Great because- “
Just as your father was about to say something, a woman appeared behind Joel, breaking the moment “Joel, love, I found the sauce for our lunch”, she announced with a bright smile.
Love, you thought, the nickname ringing in your ears.
Your heart sank, that meant he moved on from you. Joel’s eyes briefly met yours, and you could sense them burning on your skull.
Before anyone could say something, you excused yourself, stammering, "I, uh, forgot something for lunch. I'll catch up with you guys later."
As you rapidly made your way out from their view, you navigated through the crowded supermarket, you felt a mix of emotions. The encounter had brought forth the reality of Joel's life moving forward, and the endearing nickname from the woman emphasized the distance that had grown between you.
You still feel his, but he wasn’t yours anymore.
Perhaps, he never was.
Tumblr media
When the darkness of the night enveloped Austin, you excuse yourself for a moment to go out and breathe the cold air of the night in the backyard. The air was crisp, and a light dusting of leaves crunched beneath your feet as you made your way to the bench beside the tree. The solitude felt like a sweet balm for you as a temporary escape from the bustling movement inside the house due to the upcoming party.
Settling onto the bench with a mug of warm tea in your hands, you gazed up at the winter sky, the stars twinkling in a vast expanse. The coldness was something you had grown accustomed to in New York, but for some reason, here felt colder in your bones.
As you lost yourself in the eerie night, it seemed like you weren’t the only one with the same idea. You sensed a presence closer. Turning your head, you saw Joel stepping out to his backyard, only the wooden fence separating the two of you. His eyes met yours instantly and you felt how the air felt colder.
Choosing to avoid direct eye contact with him, you shifted your gaze back to the sky, the mug in your hands offering a comforting warmth through your body. The silence between you and Joel felt heavy, laden with unspoken words and the weight of a shared past.
The distance between you was both physical and emotional, and the fence that separated the yards seemed to symbolize the barriers that had grown over a year of no talking.
For a moment, you pondered the complexities of the past, the changes in both your lives and the uncertain future that lay ahead. As the coldness of the night seeped through, you couldn't help but wonder if this unexpected encounter under the stars would be the catalyst for facing the unresolved emotions that lingered between you and Joel.
The silence between you and Joel stretched on, the only audible sounds being the hushed whispers of the night
"It's been a long time," he said, breaking the quietude of the night.
You kept your gaze fixed on the night sky, a silent acknowledgment of his observation.
"I see you’re in town," Joel continued.
You nodded slightly, acknowledging his words without turning to face him. "Just for the holidays.”
A subtle pause followed, as if both of you were navigating the weird stage of talking again. The memories of that chilly winter night and the unspoken promises lingered beneath the surface.
"Today at the supermarket," he admitted, breaking the silence once again. "Didn't expect to run into you like that."
The mention of your previous encounter woke up something within you, you finally turned your gaze toward him, your eyes meeting his for the first time since your return.
"Yeah, it was... unexpected," you admitted, the unspoken tension lingering in the air.
The backyard, bathed in the soft glow of moonlight, became a stage for the reunion of two individuals who once shared something deep. As the coldness of the night surrounded you, the shared gaze under the stars held the potential for understanding, closure, or perhaps the beginning of a new chapter in the journey you both had embarked on separately.
Joel took a deep breath before speaking again. "I heard you are happy in New York," he remarked, his gaze still fixed on you.
"Yeah" you hummed "I saw you have a girlfriend"
Joel's expression shifted, surprise and discomfort clouding his features.
"Yeah," he replied cautiously, "we've been together for a while."
The revelation hung between you like an unspoken challenge, and a heavy silence settled over the backyard. The night, once serene, now felt charged with the complexities of your shared history and the stark reminder that life had moved on for both of you.
You took a deep breath, attempting to compose yourself, to regain the equilibrium that had momentarily slipped away. The night air, however, seemed colder now, mirroring the chill that had settled within you.
"I should go back inside," you said, your voice softer but still tinged with the residual bitterness.
Joel nodded, his gaze lingering for a moment before turning away. As you retreated from the backyard, the wooden fence once again became a symbolic barrier, separating the present from the past.
The door closed behind you, and the warmth of the house enveloped you, but the encounter under the stars lingered in the recesses of your mind. The complexities of the night had illuminated the unresolved emotions that still needed time to settle, and as Christmas approached, you found yourself grappling with the unexpected twists of this unwanted reunion. The echoes of love and loss that remained entangled in the tapestry of your shared history.
Tumblr media
Amidst the festive chaos of the Christmas Eve party at your parents' house, the air thick with laughter and the mingling of guests, you found yourself needing a moment of solitude. The house echoed with the warmth of shared joy, but the weight of unspoken emotions lingered within you.
As you made your way outside carefully, you deeply knew you were doing everything at your had to avoid at the party, and being outside would be a start.
Once you stepped into the backyard, you let a deep breathe escaped from your lungs. The crips winter air embraced your bare shoulders, but you didn’t mind the coldness, the air felt like a breeze allowing you to breathe.
But for your surprise, things not always worked out for you. Joel sat there, a few steps away, seemingly seeking the same solace as you. The silence of the backyard contrasted with the buzzing inside the house, creating a space for reflection and solitude.
It seems like the universe wanted to pull you together somehow.
"Hey," Joel greeted, his voice carrying a hint of the familiar fire that once resonated between you two.
"Hi," you replied, offering a small smile noticeable under the dim lights of the backyard.
The backyard became a silent witness to the unspoken secret story shared between you two. Here one year after you both knew each other in a way that was invisible to others, you stood again, face to face.
The air became thick with charged energy of unspoken words, and for a moment, you stood in a tightrope suspended between what was and what could have been.
As you exchanged glances, a mutual understanding passed between you. The complexities of your history, the unspoken words, and the lingering emotions were present in the shared gaze.
"Mind if I join you?" you asked, breaking the silence.
Joel nodded, and together, in the quiet solitude of the backyard on Christmas Eve, you found a moment to breathe, allowing the weight of the past to settle in the hushed conversations and shared glances under the glow of festive lights.
The cobblestones beneath you felt cold, contrasting with the warmth of the festive lights overhead. You and Joel sat side by side, shoulders touching, and despite your bare arms in your dress, the friction of Joel’s touch against your skin sent a familiar warmth throughout your body.
That silence spoke volumes. The shared secret increased a palpable tension, but in the quietude of the backyard, the beatings of your hearts were the only thing you could hear.
After a while, Joel broke the silence. "It's been a year," he said softly, his gaze fixed on the distant lights.
"Yeah, a year," you replied, the words heavy with the unspoken emotions of the past.
Joel turned to look at you, his eyes searching yours. "I never got a chance to say goodbye properly. It just... ended and you were gone."
Your gaze met his, and for a moment, the echoes of the past filled the space between you. "I know," you whispered, the weight of regret in your words.
The Christmas lights above flickered, casting a soft glow on both of you. In that quiet moment, under the canopy of stars, you and Joel sat in shared contemplation, a bittersweet reminder of where the path of love and love met.
“Your girlfriend?” you asked, out of the blue. Those words slipped from your lips without previous thinking.
The question hung in the air, pregnant with the weight of unspoken emotions. Joel's gaze lingered on the distant lights for a moment, and then he turned to meet your eyes. The pause felt like an eternity before he finally spoke.
"I broke up with her” he began, his voice carrying sincerity and hesitation. "It was never gonna work”
"I'm sorry to hear that," you replied sincerely, even though a part of you couldn't help but feel a tinge of conflicting emotions. The shared history, the unresolved feelings, and the present reality collided in this moment.
Joel nodded, his gaze returning to the distant lights. "It needed to happen. We both knew it. It was just a matter of time."
You nodded, understanding the mix of emotions all too well. The silence settled between you again, the unspoken understanding weaving a fragile thread in the quiet night.
"I never wanted to hurt you," you added, your voice soft with remorse.
"I know," he replied, offering a small smile. The intricacies of your shared history had left scars, but in this moment, there was a sense of acceptance for what wasn’t meant to be. “We’re different”
The last words broke your heart a little, you just wanted to go back to those meeting behind the eyes of witnesses. Back when you were still sharing stolen kisses and glances, tracing patterns on the palm of his hand. Back when you weren’t two strangers without nothing to say.
“Do you love her? you asked, blandly.
“I care about her” he said simply.
“Have you ever loved someone?” you inquired, again.
The question lingered in the air, and for a moment, a subtle vulnerability crossed Joel's features. As if the question found him with no warning. He met your gaze with a certain intensity, his eyes revealing emotions that words were incapable of capturing.
"Yes," he replied, his voice soft, the unspoken acknowledgment hanging between you. The weight of the unspoken love that once connected you both seemed to fill the space.
You have never said those three words before, but the secret language seemed to be doing its job, and the Christmas lights overhead cast a gentle glow on the emotions laid bare in your eyes and Joel's.
Joel's gaze remained fixed on yours, his eyes revealing the emotions that transcended the limitations of spoken language. The unspoken confession echoed between you, creating a fragile bridge that spanned the gap between the past and the present.
"I don’t want to forget," Joel whispered, breaking the silence once again. The admission held a touch of vulnerability.
"I don’t want to forget either," you replied, your voice carrying a mixture of nostalgia and acceptance. The shared understanding between you two seemed to bridge the gap, if only for a moment, allowing the remnants of your shared history to find a place in the present.
You felt the need to break the killing silence that enveloped you both. "I should probably head back inside," you said, your voice carrying a soft tone.
Joel's gaze lingered on yours, and for a moment, it seemed as if time stopped, and as you began to turn away, Joel gently caught hold of your hand.
When Joel finally released your hand, you felt a subtle tug at your heart. It was a bittersweet reminder of the intimacy you once shared, and the reality of the present settling in.
With a final look, Joel nodded, his eyes conveying a mixture of emotions. You turned away, leaving the quiet backyard and the echoes of the past behind.
Once inside, you felt a lump in your throat and air seemed unable to leave your lungs. You felt suffocated.
Emma, being as perceptive as always, noticed you in distress. She approached you with a concerned expression. "What happened?" she asked, her eyes searching yours for answers.
You hesitated, struggling to find the right words. "Just... nothing” you managed to say, attempting to downplay the effect of Joel on you.
Emma's gaze remained fixed on you, her intuition sensing that there was more beyond that answer. However, before she could press further, Joel stepped inside the house. A subtle tension filled the air as Emma's eyes met yours, and in that shared look, understanding passed between you.
The unspoken language between sisters didn’t need more words. Emma realized the weight of the encounter in the backyard between you and Joel, the echoes of a past that had not completely faded. The acknowledgment passed between you two without a word, an unspoken understanding of the complexities that lingered in the air.
As Joel moved further into the house, Emma offered a reassuring touch on your arm. "If you ever want to talk, I'm here," she whispered, her eyes reflecting the sisterly bond that had always been a source of support.
You nodded appreciatively, acknowledging the unspoken offer of solace. The Christmas celebration continued around you, but the encounter in the backyard had cast a shadow over the festivities, a poignant reminder of the intricate dance between love and loss.
You had broken his heart that night, but you also broke yours in the process.
Tumblr media
As the hour passed, you found yourself engaged in polite conversation with some friends of the family and a friend of your father who seemed eager to play matchmaker for his son. The well-intentioned attempts at setting up a date had created a temporary diversion, but once they left you alone, you sighed in relief.
You weren’t really into dating right now, not when you heart belonged to the man next door.
And as if you had called for him, Joel appeared by your side again, his presence unobtrusive but noticeable.
"Can we talk?" you felt a mixture of apprehension and curiosity.
Nodding in agreement, you both found a quieter corner away from the festive chatter. The Christmas lights overhead cast a gentle glow on the space between you, and for a moment, the world outside seemed to fade away, just as if a director were shooting a scene for a movie.
“Can we go to my house?” he rather asked, after a while.
“No..” you said unsure “You know what happened last time I was there” you added.
Joel's gaze remained earnest, and you could sense the vulnerability in his eyes. The invitation to go to his house carried a weight of history, a place where memories of your shared past were etched into the very walls.
"I know," he responded, his voice carrying a hint of regret. "But there are things we need to talk about. Closure, maybe."
The word "closure" hung in the air, a bittersweet promise that tugged at the edges of your emotions. The Christmas lights overhead flickered like stars, casting a cinematic glow on the unfolding scene. You didn’t want this to be the end. You didn’t want to go back to being strangers without anything in common.
After a moment of contemplation, you sighed and nodded. "Okay, let's go."
Tumblr media
You both stepped away from the celebration, the night embraced you with its quietude. The air was cold, carrying the essence of winter, and the soft glow of the Christmas lights seemed to guide you through the familiar streets.
Silent footsteps echoed between you, each one carrying the weight of unspoken words and unfinished stories. The walk to Joel's house next to yours felt eternal surrounded by the silence.
As you reached the doorstep, Joel hesitated for a moment before opening the door. A rush of memories flooded your mind, carrying you back to that pivotal moment a year ago. The air held anticipation, and as you stepped inside, the warmth of his home embraced you like an old, familiar friend.
As you entered, Joel closed the door behind you, and for a moment, the world outside seemed to fade away. The hushed whispers of shared secrets and stolen glances lingered in the air, creating an electric tension you couldn’t resist when you were alone.
Joel's eyes met yours, and a silent pleading between you. It was a dance you both knew well, one of unspoken desires and forbidden affairs.
He closed the distance between you with deliberate steps, his gaze never leaving yours. The air crackled with anticipation as he cupped your face gently, his touch tender yet possessive. And then, in that intimate space, he kissed you.
back against the wall, hands roaming through your body, finger interlocking the curls of his hair…
Back in the present, the door closed with a soft click, snapping you out of the memory. Joel's hesitant gaze met yours, and the echoes of that forbidden night resonated in the silent space between you, a reminder of a love that once burned brightly but had since been extinguished.
Joel led you further into the house, the familiar surroundings triggering a cascade of memories. The living room held echoes of shared laughter, whispered conversations, and stolen moments that were now frozen in the sands of time.
As you both settled into the present, Joel gestured towards the sofa. "Please, have a seat," he said, his voice carrying a blend of nostalgia and present reality.
“Do you want some wine?”
“I quit drinking” you said, a tint of humor in your voice.
“Since when?” he asked.
"Since I left," you replied, a trace of solemnity in your tone. The decision to quit drinking had been one of the changes you embraced in the wake of your departure from Austin. A symbolic act of shedding the old skin, leaving behind the habits that were intertwined with memories of the past. With the memories of Joel.
Joel nodded, a silent acknowledgment of the transformations that had taken place in both your lives.
"I've been thinking a lot about us since I saw you" he admitted, his gaze fixated on a point in the room, as if the walls held the answers to the questions lingering between you.
“You saw me yesterday” you replied.
Joel let out a small chuckle, a mixture of nervousness and amusement. "Yeah, yesterday. And it brought back a flood of memories, you know? The good and the... complicated."
You nodded, understanding the intricacies of those memories. The room seemed to pulse with the weight of shared history, each corner holding fragments of a past that was both beautiful and painful.
"I never got the chance to properly say goodbye," Joel continued, his eyes meeting yours with a vulnerability that echoed your own. "Things just ended abruptly, and I never had the closure I needed."
The word "closure" hung in the air again, a theme that seemed to weave through this conversation. It was evident that both of you were grappling with the untied threads of an illicit relationship that had left wounds unhealed.
"You didn't have to leave like that, you know," Joel said, his voice carrying a note of regret. "It felt like you vanished, and I had no way to reach out." He paused, “I should have stopped you."
The admission hung in the air; skipping a beat in your heart, a confession tinged with remorse. Joel's words echoed the sentiment that perhaps, in the haze of emotions and unspoken words, there had been opportunities missed, moments where the trajectory of your paths might have been altered.
"I should have stopped you," he repeated, his eyes holding regret and longing.
You took a deep breath, the weight of the past and the complexities of the present settling on your shoulders. "Maybe it was for the best, Joel. We both needed space, time to figure things out."
“No” he answered, closing the distance between you. His forehead touching yours, nose touching yours, as if seeking a way to hold you for a little bit more of time before you leave again.
"I've changed," you admitted, your voice carrying the weight of self-discovery. "Leaving was about finding myself, understanding what I wanted and needed."
The room held a charged silence.
"I want us to have closure, Joel," you said, breaking the silence. "To understand and accept what happened, and find a way to move forward."
He still didn’t pull away from you, grasping your face with his hands to prevent you to go away before he got the chance to say goodbye. He leaned closer, almost savoring the taste of your lips again.
“I can't," he admitted, a heavy sigh escaping his lips. The reality of his current relationship had momentarily faded in the magnetic pull between you two.
You gently pushed him away, creating a necessary distance. "Joel. I won't be the cause of hurting someone else."
His gaze lingered on yours, a silent acknowledgment of the boundaries that needed to be respected. The room held a heavyweight, a mix of the emotions that had lingered for far too long.
"I should go," you said, breaking the silence. The room seemed to exhale as you stepped away, creating a physical and emotional space between you and Joel.
As you turned to leave, Joel's voice cut through the silence, filled with regret and a genuine desire to understand.
"Don't go," he implored, his eyes searching yours for a connection. The magnetic pull between you and him seemed to intensify, and the room, despite its physical boundaries, felt like a battleground of conflicting emotions.
You paused, your hand on the doorknob, torn between the longing for closure and the fear of rekindling a flame that had once burned so brightly. Joel's plea echoed in the quiet room, his eyes filled with a mixture of regret and the unspoken desire to break the gap between the both of you.
"I can't, Joel," you replied, your voice carrying a blend of vulnerability and determination. "It's not fair to her, to you, or to me."
Joel took a step closer, his gaze unwavering. "I just need to understand, to talk. Please."
Your internal struggle played out on your face as you considered his words. The desire for closure, for a resolution to the unfinished story between you two, warred with the knowledge that reopening old wounds could lead to more pain.
"Okay," you finally relented, your voice barely above a whisper. The decision seemed to hang in the air, a delicate agreement to navigate the complexities of your shared history.
Joel's expression softened, gratitude and yearning evident in his eyes. The room, once heavy with tension, now held the promise of a conversation that could bring understanding and, perhaps, a sense of closure.
Joel took a deep breath, breaking the silence that had settled between you. "I know there's an age difference," he began, his voice carrying the weight of acknowledgment. "And I know your parents would be disappointed."
The reality of the situation hung in the air like an invisible barrier. The societal expectations, the judgments that might come, and the potential disappointment from your family added layers of complexity to an already intricate web of emotions.
You nodded; your gaze fixed on a distant point in the room. "It's not just about age, Joel. It's about the choices we make and the consequences they carry."
Joel's hands gently cradled your face, with tenderness and longing. The warmth in his eyes sought connection, an unspoken plea for you to give in.
"Let me enjoy this week with you," he implored, his voice a gentle caress. "Before you go back to New York. Before we part ways again”
The vulnerability in his plea resonated with the unspoken desires that lingered between you two.
"Let me call you “baby” again” he asked, his gaze searching yours for permission, a request to reclaim a term of endearment that had once been an intimate part of your shared history.
Your gaze met Joel's, a silent language between your eyes. You found yourself torn between the desire to hold onto the fragments of a love that once was and the understanding that the consequences of those choices were complex and far-reaching.
"I don't know, Joel," you replied, your voice a delicate whisper. "It's not that simple”
Joel's hands lingered on your face, his eyes searching yours for a sign, a connection that transcended the complexities of the situation.
"Let's spend Christmas together," Joel pleaded, his voice carrying a mixture of longing and resignation. "And then I'll let you go, even if it breaks my heart once more."
As you gazed into Joel's eyes, the unspoken understanding between you two seemed to transcend the complexities of the situation. In that moment, under the soft glow of Christmas lights, you found yourself leaning into him, into his touch and caring that echoed the flames of your shared affair.
"Okay, Joel," you whispered, your voice carrying the weight of this compromise. "Let's enjoy this week together."

Solider Boy💌🤍
Tumblr media Tumblr media
parings: 50s!Elvis x female!reader
summary: Elvis has been stationed in Germany for 3 years, but to your love is the only thing that’s keeping you going
songs for the fic: Solider Boy- Elvis Presley, It’s Been A Long, Long Time- Kitty Allen, I Love You For Sentimental Reasons,m- The Righteous Brothers
Tumblr media
The news of Elvis's deployment to Germany weighed heavily on you and Elvis’s hearts. You both sat together in your small living room, hands intertwined, grappling with the impending separation.
"I can't believe it's happening, El," you murmured, with tears in your eyes and your voice filled with sorrow.
"I know, baby. I wish I didn't have to go," Elvis said softly, pulling you into a tight embrace. "But duty calls."
She buried her face in his chest, clinging to him as if to delay the inevitable. "Three years... it feels like an eternity."
You looked up at him, your gaze searching his eyes for solace. "Promise me, Elvis. Promise me you won't forget. That you'll come back."
He stroked your hair gently, pressing a kiss to your forehead. "I promise, darlin'. I'll write ya every day. Call ya whenever I can. You won't feel like I'm far away."
As the day of departure drew near, your home was filled with bittersweet moments. As you were packing your bags tears started to well in your eyes,
“I can’t believe you’re leaving, Elvis”, you say while wiping away your tears.
“Aw, c’mon now. Don’t cry, baby. It’s gonna be alright.” He says to as he hold you in his arms.
“Why do they have to take you away from me for so long? It’s not fair.”
At the airport, your last moments together were a silent conversation of love, spoken through tearful gazes and tight embraces. "I love you, Elvis," with tears rolling down your face as you whispered, your voice quivering with emotion.
"I love you too, sweetheart. More than anything," Elvis replied, holding her as if trying to freeze time.
When Elvis saw you crying he immediately comforted you. “Hey, satnin don’t cry. The last thing I wanna see is a sad lil face as I’m leaving.”
“Promise me you’ll take care of yourself? Please Elvis.”
“I promise baby. I’ll be safe. Take care of yourself too, okay?”
You nodded in agreement. Seeing him board that plane knowing you won’t see him for three years was the most heartbreaking thing ever. But his promises to write you letters and call you any chance he gets was the only thing kept you sane.
True to his word, letters from Elvis arrived regularly, each one a lifeline across the distance. Pages filled with his thoughts, his yearnings, his unwavering love for you. You cherished every word, reading and rereading, feeling his presence in every carefully penned line.
The phone became your sanctuary, the ring signaling the nightly connection across continents. "How's my girl doing today?" Elvis's voice would crackle through the line.
"I miss you, El," she'd reply, her voice filled with longing. "But your letters... they keep me going."
“I know, darlin’. Wish I could be there holdin’ you right now”.
“Me too El. But hearing your voice… it’s comforting.” You say wishfully.
“I reckon it’s the same for me, hearin’ your voice. Makes this place feel a little less lonely.” Elvis says with a smile on his face.
“You’re not causing a ruckus over there, are you?”, you say teasingly.
“Nah, just keepin’ my head down. But I’m countin’ the days ‘til I’m back home with you”
“Can’t wait for that day, El”.
“Me neither, baby. ‘Til then, just hold on tight. I’m right here, thinkin’ ’bout you every minute.”
Your conversation continued, each word spoken across the miles carrying the weight of the love the two of you shared, bridging the gap between them until the two of you could be together again.
Months turned into a year, then two. Yet, your love remained steadfast, growing stronger with each letter, each call, a testament to your unwavering commitment.
The day finally arrived when Elvis returned home. The anticipation, the nerves, the overwhelming joy—they all collided as you stood at the airport, scanning the crowd until your eyes met his.
Your reunion with Elvis was a whirlwind of emotions, tears, and laughter. You both held each other as if trying to merge into one, the both of your hearts finally reunited after enduring the agony of separation.
"You're home, El," you whispered, your voice filled with disbelief and joy.
"I kept my promise, baby," Elvis said, his eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "I'm back where I belong—with you."
His embrace spoke volumes, reaffirming the love that had withstood the test of time and distance. As the two of you walked hand in hand, heading back to their shared home, you both knew that no amount of separation could diminish the love the two of you held for each other.

Sharing some more fic love on Valentine's. Here's my last Tarlos fic rec list with even more wonderful fic 🥰
If you want to show some love too, please comment on fics you read even if they're 'older'. I promise they make authors' days.💌 And my heart bleeds seeing how some fics get so little love. So here's my new love letter to counter that.
I Swear I Love You (Te Juro Que Te Amo) by @never-blooms S: Noche Buena takes a turn when two exes are forced to reunite. The writing is so lyrical I feel like I'm put on waves at times, gently rocking me. Characters that jump off the screen and TK and Carlos as exes having to pretend to be together still is a trope I never ever grow tired of.
balancing act by @reyesstrand S: A study of TK and Carlos sharing meals and falling in love.  My love for food is only paralleled by my love for words and this fic made me so emotional over both. Seriously can't put into words how beautiful and intricate this story is.
The Gift of You by @sprigsofviolets
S: TK Strand and Carlos Reyes have been happily married for five years. They are their own content, happy family. They weren’t looking to have kids, but when TK delivers a baby on a hard call, their family grows when they least expect it. I can't put into short words how very kind and thoughtful and in-character and heart-warming this fic is.
the square root of sixty nine by @liminalmemories21 S: Five times TK asked for consent, and one time Carlos did. So much depth in these intimate moments and also she proves consent is absolutely hot.
The Space in Between by @decafdino S: TK and Carlos are kidnapped, but they're together. A relationship study of Tarlos. It's embarrassing how much comfort I find in the constant re-read of this pretty angsty fic. But it delivers what it promises. It's a great study of their unwavering love intermixed with snippets of their pasts. The Sting by @goodways
S: Carlos is asked to help the FBI in a sting operation where he has to flirt with another man. His husband has something to say about it. Just one of her absolutely hilarious and sexy stories. Can never get over how much her dialogues sing.
Man to Man by @carlos-in-glasses S: In the aftermath of the house fire, Carlos recalls the night he came out to his parents. What can I say but that I'm obsessed with anything cig writes so I gotta praise the first fic I read of hers? Her entire expansive canon universe is outstanding.
A Helping Hand to Hold You Down by @cold-blooded-jelly-doughnut S: Things are not as they seem in the loft, and TK's evening will not unfold as he had planned... It's smutty and it's filled with love and it's a great great great portrayal of dom/sub exploration without it running smoothly.
Sustenance by @cinnaluminum S: TK has a rough shift and comes home to Carlos in the kitchen. Absolute mastery of tension and a lingering fight and trying to work it out. I can't stress how much I admire her writing.
come what may, I'll still stay by @strandnreyes
S: Nearly one year into their marriage and TK finds that life looks a little different these days with Carlos working as a detective. A really beautiful study of circumstances changing and growing and love persisting despite pain and grief.
(Un)professional Services by @rmd-writes and @welcometololaland S: The Tarlos Professional Services AU. Two absolutely great writers bringing us work-place fun and sexiness? Uhm, yes please! I love the dialogue, I love how the humor.

Peaky Blinders letter exchange
Arthur Shelby x Heaven
Letters master list
Tumblr media
💌 So I’m beyond thrilled for this brilliant idea, @raincoffeeandfandoms thank you for creating this project I almost stick to the deadline… not going to lie it was quite a challenge since I’ve never wrote for other than Tommy, but just as in life, I’m always up for a challenge 😉
The first letter was written by @call-sign-shark as the OC, Heaven 🤍 I have to admit this letter made me dream about their encounter, the response as Arthur was written by me, I hope you enjoy!
Summary: After S3c Heaven and Arthur live a peaceful and happy life in their house in the forrest and they are trying for a child. But when Arthur got the mafia’s black hand, he came back to Small Heath. At first he asked his wife not to come to protect her, but their love is so strong, so drug-like, that they kinda withered without each other. So she decides to join him no matter the danger of Changretta’s threats. Arthur receives the letter the day Tommy told him everyone should stick together for safety reasons.
*****
Mon amour, Bleak Winter and brass knuckles, My heart burns in the steel Of your saddened eyes. Night fell upon the city and I’m alone in our house, our big dog lying at my feet and flickering candle lights as sole company. As I watched the moonlight and stars, I felt the urge to write down these words for my heart aches with your absence. I know you asked me to stay away from Small Heath until things are better with Luca Changretta, but I’m becoming crazy between these walls. I can’t stand the idea of you risking your life and not being able to take you in my arms at night to give you comfort, nor to wash away the blood from your face and hands. Admittedly, it sounds like I am writing this in pure emotions and I am pretty sure that’s what Thomas will say, but I have thought the matters for nights and days before taking this decision: I am coming back to Small Heath, and we will fight as we have always done since we have met: together. As long as you’re with me, I know that nothing can happen — and if Death brings its cold and bony fingers around my neck, know that I’ll forever be by your side. But Arthur, I can’t go on without you. Each day without your presence is not worth living: I would rather hold your hand and bath in blood with you than being locked up away from you, safe but decaying. As I impatiently wait for our “retrouvailles” in three days, I keep brushing the golden ring your offered me with the tips of my fingers. Your gravel voice still echoes in my head, the words of your proposal bringing me comfort in my darkest and coldest nights. I remember how pained you looked when Tommy told us to wait for this gang war to be over before getting married but I think this is not a good idea. Quite the contrary, this is one rule we should disobey. Even in the midst of battle, I am ready to wear my white dress and deliver my vows, flowers crowns on my head and razor blade in my hand. If sky fall apart and hell breaks loose, at least we’ll leave this world as husband and wife — but don’t get me wrong, I am pretty sure no one will make you bow. Don’t forget that you’re a strong man. Stronger than you can imagine, stronger than everyone thinks. I believe in you, and always will. In the meantime, keep me in your heart and I promise I’ll soon be in your arms, Forever yours, Your angel Heaven.
-
My dear Heaven,
There’s no more room for sadness for me since the day you walked into my life. Last night I had a dream, it was already dark and I was sitting alone, you suddenly appeared out of nowhere and everything changed; it was a sunny day and we were walking hand in hand around the forest that surrounds our home. I just wish it could be true and you could be by my side, you can’t even imagine how much I dream of you…. Finding your letter early today gave me peace, but the day has been a fucking nightmare and I just got the chance to answer your words in the middle of the night. How I wish it was me lying next to you, feeling your warm body calming my busy mind. Don’t let out dog get used to it, though as I intend to take my spot back once this war is over. If only you knew how much your love means to me… you saved me from the darkness. It’s been lonely nights without you darling, but the sacrifice will be worth it, we will be able to go back to our routine and start the family your heart desires, but your love is giving me the strength I need at this moment, that’s what keeps me going. I need you to stay away from this mess, that’s the only way I have to protect you. Oh no, you bloody what?! Heaven, love that’s the craziest idea, I miss you so much yes, but there’s no way I can put you in danger, Small Heath isn’t a good idea right now… and please don’t even think about it, I’d never let anything bad happen to you. But as I know, once you make a decision there’s no way to convince you otherwise, so just let me make adjustments and prepare the way you’ll get in so it’s the safest, at least give me that peace eh? I cannot wait until we get married, but again if you already decided you don’t want to wait, we’ll do it right away. You’ll be the prettiest bride, you’ll look like an angel…and later after all of this passes we’ll have a bloody big celebration. Don’t worry about Tommy, he’ll understand. Your words mean so much, I treasure it so close to me heart my dear. I’m looking forward to our “retrouvailles”. I just know having you close will give me peace. Always in my head and heart soon to be Heaven Shelby. Always yours, AS.

💌💗VALENTINES LETTERS💗💌
Another amazing Valentine Letters!
Thank you to everyone who commissioned me for them! Also, I will only be sharing the ones I was given consent for so thank you to those who were ok with the share!
Here is the last letter I am able to publicly post for a great friend @dantesunbreaker featuring our favorite gremlin, Dew!
(see below for clear letter content)
Tumblr media
Hey Babe,
I figured I would have Aeth bring this to you for me, since I know you're caught up with things in the office. I would have brought it, but I know that I won't be able to control myself from being a…what do you call it—-a distraction. That being said, I hope that Paps doesn’t have you working too hard. After all, you promised me that you would take things a bit easier remember?
I don’t wanna see you get too worn out on his account. That's my job. Anyways, I wanted to let you know I have been thinking about you all day. Especially this afternoon while we’re all just hanging out in the den. Swiss has been showing us his new tambourine routine, so naturally I got bored and zoned out. Thinking about how long it's been since you and got some alone time together.
Last time was after the movie with Luss and Cirrus. Both of us all cuddled up in the nest of blankets. Your head on my chest and my nose buried in your hair. The T.V. going all static and waking us up after we fell asleep in each other's arms. Do you remember that? Those were good times and I can’t wait for things to get back to that again now that the tour is over.
I know that tonight we have plans with your family for your mom’s birthday and everything…and I am looking forward to it, but it is still Lupercalia. That being said, I was thinking that after some cake, some games—you know the whole family thing. Maybe you and I could sneak away and go make good use of the altar. You know, the one near the south end of Primo’s garden? I am sure the old man won’t mind one bit if something else gets fertilized out there besides the roses.
But anyway. I picked up the stuff to make the buttercream for the cookies and the stuff for marshmallows treats like you asked me. Oh and I double checked with your dad that he didn’t need us to pick up the cake mix—so we are golden!  I love you Babe and I look forward to seeing you tonight.

💌 love letter from jake to his crush that goes to j-high?
[As you leave the school gates behind, you are approached by your friend Jake, who smiles in a rather mischievous way as he hands you a folded piece of paper. "For you," he says, "And I'm gonna be busy for a while, so I wanted to give you a memory of me."
"What, like you're going to die?" you joke.
He doesn't reply, only laughing and patting your head before walking off as he says goodbye.
You wonder what that was about before you open the letter to read...]
Hello my love!
Or wait, I guess I can't call you that... yet [There is a winky face drawn here.]
Anyways, please forgive me for arriving late to our last hangout~ I promise it was because I was busy with my work stuff but when I told you that, you didn't seem to believe me, so I'm saying it again! I even left a lollipop to show my sincerity ♡
Also, like I said, sorry I won't be around much for a while. I hope this doesn't make you feel like someone unimportant to me, because I really do care for you. I'd hate to lose someone as lovely as you from my life, so please understand I've just got a lot going on right now. I'm sure you've got yourself busy with classes as well--make sure to keep doing your best! And to take care of yourself, too~
If you don't, I'd be happy to once I'm less busy!
Yours truly, the one and only, sincerely,
Jake Kim
[Attached to the paper is a lollipop of your favorite flavor, taped on the bottom.]

💌 A messy open letter/life update to my moots, readers and followers (?)
MY LOVES MY ANGELS HI!!!
IM SO SORRY FOR NEGLECTING Y'ALL FOR SO LONG my kitten is just now healed enough (not fully healed yet. she still has sutures) for me to be able to let her walk around the room and play by herself without being too dangerous for her health and I FINALLY was able to sleep more these last 4 days (I didn't talk to ANY of my friends for 3 days bc all I could do was sleep - even during the day, like, a lot - watch movies n read a bit (books, not fanfiction)/study neuroscience and anatomy a bit) so, now, I'm only like 70% recovered from so much sleep deprivation (being an amateur nurse for a spayed kitten and also doing house chores, mostly by yourself, ain't easy) and I've been logging in here for like only 30 minutes up to a maximum of like 1 hour or so, and not even everyday, just editing some stuff on my posted fanfiction/checking my notifications, messages, asks and OMG you guys are AMAZING!!! So much love that I'm receiving, from moots, readers, followers or even people who I don't think follow me but they support my works somehow, even after me being gone for this long while... IM SO THANKFUL AND MOVED!!! I love this fandom SO MUCH! I have no words!! I've been in many fandoms in my life and the Avatar one is by far the most supportive, peaceful - to a certain extent - and full of good energy and love! I PROMISE I will get to answer y'all soon enough!
And about the talk that's been going on about the fandom dying, DONT U WORRY MY BABIES, MOMMA VICTÓRIA AINT GOING NOWHERE! Speaking for me, at least, this tall blue aliens obsession is NOT something temporary! I'll be writing my lil stories for y'all forever, if I'm able to (lol) 🤍 I've loved Avatar since the first time I watched the 2009 movie, back when it was released and I was a child, and now that I'm a grown woman in her 20s, I still feel such a big connection to this fictional universe, in a literal spiritual level. I was a pagan/had a witchy/nature based spirituality for years of my life, tho I'm not pagan anymore, since I slowly realized I never truly believed in the pagan gods and magick, but, instead, I just see God in nature and see it as sacred and something that should be respected and taken care of, instead of destroyed. I also have indigenous heritage from my great grandmother, love my indigenous culture, live in a small town, next to the countryside, always felt crazily connected to nature and the Universe and been deeply fascinated by space, aliens, sci-fi, fantasy, always been called a "hippie" by people, either to tease me playfully or to try to make me feel bad for being a bit too much like Kiri Sully (istg me and Kiri are one and the same) so, this fandom serves me JUST RIGHT 😅🫀✨🌱👽💕 I'm here to stay and I WILL help keep this wonderful fandom alive!!! 💖
Anyways... I feel like I already "talked" way too much lol I'm wordy, sorry 🥲 but that's one of the reasons I can write well, so... it's got its bad and its good side ahaha
Speaking of writing, I have like 6 to 7 chapters of Realize where you belong saved (only need to edit and fill in some gaps) bc, even in the middle of so much physical and mental working, I'VE BEEN SO BLESSED with inspiration and been able to write A LOT lately, in the wee free time I've been having, so... if you're reading this fanfiction, I might be updating it later today or tomorrow!
Hope you're all doing good and taking care of yourselves! I've been trying to! I LOVE Y'ALL TO THE MOON AND BACK 💘
With love, your messy and a bit crazy but honest and caring fanfiction writer,
Victória ♡

💌 to write a valentine's day letter to my muse - reverse: a letter for Adelia from Rick maybe? (TWD verse)
Tumblr media
That’s amore from here @mettleborn
Dear Adelia,
my love, my sun and light. It pains me that this world forces us to spend this day apart from each other and if you might wonder: yes, I’m keeping track of every damn day since I woke up in that hospital cause I wanted to count the days it took to bring everything back to normal. Even if I know now that hope might be a silly thing, I want to hold onto that goal and it was you who made me fight for it again. You may call me naive or a hopeless romantic to imagine how it would have looked like before the fall to take you for a date, but believe me when I say that it already brings a smile to my face simply when I think about you. So yes, we might be apart for now. We might not have what we had before the world went to shit. But when you close your eyes tonight I want to imagine how it would be:
I would take you out for dinner after giving you a bouquet of your favorite flowers. I would tell you to dress up or not, however you would want to and drive you to the nicest places where everyone would look at you in awe just like I do every day. I would hold your hand when we walk through the streets of Philadelphia and kiss you in the rain if it starts pouring on our way back to the car. I would plan to bring you to the theatre just to make out with you in the last row and miss the whole movie cause everything I wanna look at is you. And when we come home I would carry you over the doorstep, drink a wine on our terrace of the house I had built for you with my own hands just to ask you if you want to marry me some day.
I know we are both no fools, Adelia. There are no restaurants. No flower shops. No cinemas anymore. And maybe we will never have a date like that I like to dream of when I think about how it would have been to meet you then. But there’s one thing in that story that’s still there and that’s us and no one will take that away from us. I will not allow it.
I will fight for us to have this date one day. I will fight to see you smile and watch you walk around in summer dresses with that gorgeous smile of yours. And I will not give up until I have you by my side whatever it may cost to get you there. Thats what I can promise.
So instead of flowers and a date, instead of a trip to Hawaii and a dinner in one of these fancy hotels you probably would hate, you get this letter and I know it is not much, but it is what I can give you in this moment now that I can’t be by your side. I hope you know it’s filled with love and heart. That you know my words are true. And that next time when I will see you, we will be one step closer to that goal I just described.
Stay safe, my heart.
I will see you soon
Rick

SYNOPSIS: To Lyney, secrets must be kept hidden. Maybe it's why, in the end, this 'love' feels like a sense of betrayal.
TW/s: Yandere behavior, Lyney becomes a bit of a ‘detective’ lol, toxic sibling dynamic (not inc/st god fucking no, just twisted morals on siblings + family), Lyney is fucked up and deranged. NSFW warnings include mentions of graphic description of violence, puppet moment™, implied trafficking (might not be here but be warned), arson, the whole nine yards.
NOTE FROM HR: A matchup with ties to the background of MixMatch… How curious. Now, this may be tame from some of these entries, but be warned, there may be things that can trigger someone.
Tumblr media
Lyney is one of those that people underestimate a lot more than they’d like to admit. And for one thing, they wouldn’t be blamed… Much.
After all, he looked quite innocent, and wouldn’t seem to be the type to have any malicious intent for those he’s with. Which, if they knew him well, they would see that it’d be the biggest lie they’ve ever been told in all of history.
Including himself, ironically enough.
To Lyney and his siblings, he's a dead man walking. His intentions are not as pure, but his ambitions make up for it. All he wanted was to provide answers and insights for their Father, Arlecchino, and if it meant they had to work in the establishment… So be it.
This led to him speaking to Eros and Cupid—both matchmakers who, in his eyes, never signed up for the changes they were presented in front of them. In Cupid’s case, they were simply hired for the sake of alluding the crowd with the potential of MixMatch, and with who they can be with. Sure, the selection is tight and there’s been shady scandals in the past with Celestia Inc., but it was all fine, right?
As for Eros, he gathered from Freminet when he was speaking to her that he’s in charge of what goes truly with the ‘transactions’ from both client and rented ‘boyfriend’. She even mentioned how Cupid is also tied into it as the messenger, which was an irony, considering the Boss had his days numbered due to such an exploit before both came to work.
Speaking of, he was seeing them both now to see who his match is, and it looks like he got a catfish— courtesy of Cupid telling him and was now apologizing rapidly because the person he was matched it never really existed. It looked like they were groveling on his feet for forgiveness.
What a sorry sight.
How odd, mused Lyney, as he noticed the bandage on Cupid’s left cheek. It looked like something happened there, but he knew he couldn’t bring it up, lest it’d spark up suspicion that he was ‘looking into things he shouldn’t be’.
“No need to apologize,” he told them, watching them frown and shake their head once more. “Please, I must apologize for this mix-up. Eros and I were working overtime to set up these matches for you and everyone, and I feel as though it's my responsibility for what happened. Please forgive me, Lyney. You were meant to be with someone else.”
Someone else?
“Well, what’s done is done, little Cupid,” he says, patting their head. “You’re still getting used to things, so I’m sure I’ll be able to manage who you assigned me to. Now, you were saying that it’s ████████, right?”
“Yes, ████████. We don’t know their full name, but maybe you’d know them better than I do—you did tell us that you knew them.”
“Oh, that I do,” he added, his eyes twinkling as he reached to tilt his hat. “In fact, I met them long, long ago. It’s such an irony that now I’m matched with them. I thought that man would keep them locked shut in his little ‘team’.”
“I’m… Sorry?”
“Haha, nothing! Anyway, where are they? Did they tell you where they’d go?”
Tumblr media
When Lyney managed to reach the venue, he had a few things in mind. Catfishing is never taken lightly in the corporation, and they were taught how to deal with those who pretended to be certain people and ditched when they had to meet their match.
The one thing, though, is that he had additional help.
"So, you're sure that the catfish used a fake profile to try and get into the bigwigs of MixMatch?" asked Lynette, raising an eyebrow as she watched him prepare for the surprise he had. "And here I thought that Father warned us to not be too rash. We still have a few things we needed to keep an eye on while you're working for them."
"I know that, Lynette, but I can't help myself! Having to impersonate someone and even getting my hopes up... Only to strike it down is a crime," he said, but the twins knew that he was merely pretending. With a sigh, he placed his hand on his heart, the other one holding some wire cutters.
"Oh well. It's not like it'll be such a bother, not with the bag of tricks we carried. Isn't that right, Lynette?"
"... You brought me with you, though."
"Ahaha! Nonsense! Besides, it's not just you. Freminet is with us, but he's working on the distraction as we three discussed," Lyney tutted, sauntering to the house and preparing the surprise. "Now, Lynette, would you be a dear and help your big brother cause some mayhem?"
The latter sighed. She knew her brother wouldn't back down for his need of doing something 'fun', and especially when his 'fun' involved committing enough crimes and getting suspicious people back to their... Hideout.
"... Fine," she muttered, donning a mask as she went to the back door. "Don't mess this up, brother. We need to be swift before people catch sight of us 'cleaning' this house up."
"Oh, I know."
When she was in position, he was quick to cut the wires, letting the lights go out inside the house. The voices coming from within were muffled, but he could already hear the anticipation from them. Tossing the wire cutters back to the bag, he grabbed a few things and heard a few thumps— that must mean that Lynette has done her part.
A sound of breaking glass, panicked voices, and he managed to get to the door. It was already unlocked, courtesy of their carelessness to locking the damn door, and he had simply tossed bombs that looked like mice. He could simply relish the screams as they went off, magenta smoke, sparkles, and splatters coming out when its timer reached zero.
He could hear them panic as she done quick work from the inside, the fumes travelling upwards and to the second floor, causing the house to be fogged up. Counting down a few seconds, he grabbed a few more and sent the next batch in.
Their plan was to cause a bit of mayhem as they 'cleaned' up the place. After all, their tricks only served to have cause the illusion, and it was nothing more than that. Although, the crime of impersonation and fooling him, an illusionist, is far bigger than those that the judge would state in the entire expanse of Teyvat.
After a few bombs, some things exploding and the fire starting from the inside and glass smashing, he saw Lynette come out with a body. Seems like she was unconscious too. With a nod, the twins left the house as swiftly as they came, but not without the illusionist tossing one more surprise.
A plush.
Upon making contact with the flames leaking from inside the house, it seem to blow up from the seams, wrecking it even more and urging the flames to consume more than the house as they escaped.
Running down to the streets below, Lynette caught whiff of soot and the special (flammable) smoke they made and scowled.
"Did you really have to use that?" she asked, scoffing. "You smell rancid in that."
"Hah! Like you're one to talk, my dear sister," he taunted back, lugging the bag up as they both saw Freminet coming out from the phone booth. He was carrying a receiver and his mechanical penguin, though his face looked rather grim.
"Lynette, Lyney... ██████ is calling us."
Their faces became serious.
"What is it?"
"I'm... Not sure. She said that we need to come back... Urgently. It's about the suitors and their involvement."
Lynette remained stone-faced. Sparing a glance to Lyney, she adjusted her grip on the body.
"I see. I'll be returning post-haste. Brother, can you make it there in 3 days?"
Lyney seems hesitant, but he nodded. If ██████ needed them, then he had to settle a few issues in the corporation. Turning his gaze to the watch, his brows furrowed at the time they had left.
"I need to return to Celestia Inc. Lynette, Freminet, please inform him that I need to file a leave before I can get there. After all, I am still apart of the corporation, and it'd be bad if the boss caught on."
The two nodded.
"Of course. I'm sure ██████ will understand."
If not, they have their methods to do such a thing.
Tumblr media
It was 3 days too late when the meeting was set, but ██████ didn't mind when the oldest was late. After all, the company he was tied with willingly wouldn't allow any sort of leave unless there was definite proof of such a thing.
"Lyney, do you have any updates for the clients matched with you and the other 'suitors'?"
Lyney bowed, his expression remaining serious as he looked up towards her.
"██████, some of the clients have been killed by them. The others wound up missing, and no one knows where they are. Asking the two 'matchmakers' yielded no results either, as they are uninvolved of the process."
"I see. Lynette, how are the others that we've 'rescued'?"
"They are safe, ██████," she replied, lowering her head as she bowed alongside Lyney. "Some are a bit shaken as they didn't expect it to happen, but the suitors who saved them are cagey. A few have threatened me and Freminet from getting too close to them because of the danger that we 'possess' to them."
How interesting.
"And for those who were killed?"
"Buried 6 to 12 feet under. Some are left in docks and inside wells," Lyney was the next to respond. "There are others who's faces were mutilated. It was troublesome to confirm their faces. And the rest..."
"... I see."
██████ placed down the folder full of evidence she had. Most of it had been from the clients, and it came from one of the two sources itself.
"██████, what should we do? Freminet and I have our matches, but we can't be sure that the boss wouldn't try and assign them with someone else if he catches on."
"No need to worry, Lyney."
Grabbing one of the papers, the three could see ██████ smile.
"After today, that company will be in ruins. All I need is to tip off a few investigators and act as an 'unknown' source, and everything will fall into place."
It was a wonder for the three, Lyney included, for how devious ██████ can be. But they all nodded and bowed once again, concluding the meeting.
If there was one thing that Celestia Inc. didn't took account for, it would be the growing restlessness of their workers and those who managed to 'get in' without suspicion.
Just like in chess, the King is in position. Every other unit is now in place.
All it needs is a scapegoat to start the domino effect.

say yes to heaven, mi amor
dear reader,
maybe this letter transcends from wardrobe to wardrobe, or from feed to feed. maybe this letter’s scent is like pressed lavenders and pink roses on a book. maybe this letter is been sealed, its initials that feel like love, reaching to your doorstep.
either way, i hope the wait is worth it.
i am going to try my best to keep this short and sweet, no promises, unless i can keep them myself.
let me tell you about an adventure i recently went on, even if it was a few minutes walk from here. a friend i hadn’t caught up with in a while, accompanied me.
together we went on a nature’s way of an adventure, and we saw a robin.
there’s something attractive when someone shares a glimpse of their knowledge with you, the passion in the glint of their eyes, the awe hinted at their tone. the sparkle, the grin following suit, and the soft whisper of "turn slowly,"
"i wish i had something to share with the robin. "she said.
the softness of love being shared, the hush of stillness as nature sways to the breeze, the calling of a loved one from heaven, opening their arms with peace, and letting you know that they’re safe.
the warmth of a hug, the scent of sandalwood pasted on faces, nuzzling noses together and linking arms. the sepia film of dances and rhythm, fabrics floating, alluring you to a world where we could be more than what we say. where love is at the tips of our fingertips, where you could steal glances at me and i would not know.
robin’s also represent new beginnings, and i couldn’t help but think of all the glimpses i’m sharing with you right now. and each week (except last week) you’ve been checking in, and it makes me smile nevertheless, a sensation of blooming gratitude.
if there’s one thing I’d love for you to do this upcoming week, is to do something that makes you say yes to heaven.
the universe has got your back, and so have we.
take care of yourself, and (gives you a high five) :)
lots of love,
suhoo 💌

Faculty and Staff Mission Task Board
Small hunting parties regularly venture beyond monastery walls to hunt for additional food to pad out supplies. On one of your patrols, your arrow manages to sink deep between the ribs of a young buck. He flees, alive, but leaving a trail of blood in his wake. Tracking him down will take all night, which is bad news when there’s snow already falling. Even so, you can’t just return empty-handed. [Grants Bow +1] 🏹
The younger members of the clergy empathize deeply with the fearful students. Noticing that it’s the Guardian Moon, one of them decides to show the students how to make a “Saint Seiros charm” from their hometown, a traditional craft for Saint Seiros Day. The bit of Faith magic woven into it gives the trinket a certain comforting aura, something much-needed during these perilous times. Others offer instruction about their own version of charms that, while not for Saint Seiros, offer a sense of togetherness and cultural connection, and helps take one’s mind off the cold. ✨
An overnight outage to the stables’ heating system results in the deaths of several wyverns, personal mounts and beloved lesson drakes alike. In their grief, passionate students vowed to sleep overnight in the wyvern stables to help them keep warm through the night. [Grants Flying +1] ❄
The long, dark nights often lead to despair, but this year seems to have led to a more extreme crisis. Some members of the Knights of Seiros defy their orders and steal away with some crest stones in the dark of night. The promise of power and, most importantly, eternal warmth in a cold winter drives their actions, but they are powerless against the curse. These monsters roaming the hills may have been your allies once, but there is no trace of them here. ☠
Desperation pushes starving villagers and stranded merchants to unscrupulous means to survive. As you finish up one of your patrols, a band of thieves manage to catch you by surprise and take one of your colleagues hostage. Holding a knife to their throat, they demand gold and supplies to help them survive the storm. They are still inexperienced civilians in the end though. An experienced warrior like yourself would cut them down easily, if that’s what you choose to do. [Grants Gauntlets +1] 🤺
NEW! Oddly, the mages notice that Reason magic has been on the fritz lately. Even the most experienced sages find it difficult to control their magic, never mind the practicing novices that keep burning themselves and injuring others. A late-night attempt to study for a Reason exam quickly gets out of hand and sends a classroom up in flames. The Knights of Seiros and other members of the monastery’s facilities must rush in quickly in order to contain the fire and save lives. [Grants Reason +1] 🔥
NEW! Mail arrives at the monastery for the first time in weeks, carried by a brave messenger who dies almost as soon as he arrives. With the break in communication and lingering unrest from the incident with the imposters, friends and loved ones from other continents are desperately trying to reestablish contact. Their frantic letters speak of trouble from home, but there’s no way to get a timely reply back in this weather… 💌
NEW! As you brave the wilderness for more food, you hear the howl of wolves nearby. It looks like they’ve just brought down a massive buck, big enough to feed an entire pack… the hunger pangs return, gnawing at your empty stomach. When was the last time you had a proper meal? Do you have it in you to keep hunting for however many hours it takes, when there is food right here? Trying to steal from starving wolves is a big risk to take—you’ll become prey yourself if you’re not careful. But a deer that size could provide many meals to your friends and allies back in the monastery. You better act fast before the wolves devour every piece of meat. [Grants Lance +1] 🐺
Non-Mission Task Board
The Ethereal Ball is done, but as you’re leaving, you see flocks of people making for a barely-trodden little footpath leading partway down the mountain. Should you follow it, the sound of music and hollering would begin to swell, until you are greeted with a barebones but extremely lively party with a large bonfire and no shortage of entertainment. Dancing, singing – both far more boisterous and free than anything the Ball offered – is plentiful, and it only seems to be getting started. There’s even a fun axe-throwing game set up between the trees. Better take advantage of the party now - those clouds overhead look ready to snow. [Grants Axe +1] 🪓
Certain students concocted their own solution to last month’s shrinking problem: a potion that allows one to add a couple of inches to your height. It’s so potent that the effect remains even after the curse was dispelled, resulting in students noticeably taller than they were before the incident. No one knows what the side-effects are, or how long the potion lasts, and yet demand grows among the student population. Investigate by offering yourself as a guinea pig, or observe from afar. 🧪
A new exercise craze has taken over the continents and has now infiltrated Fodlan’s borders. A group of people claiming to be professional instructors are hosting a class promoting ‘The Askr’ along with other various aerobic, high-energy exercises to keep one warm! If the new wave and synth pop beats don’t get you moving, then maybe the brightly-colored leotards, headbands and legwarmers will grab your attention. (Or maybe you’re just there for the cute men and women in said leotards). [Grants Heavy Armor +1] 💪
Winter has settled in at Garreg Mach, and the long hours of darkness are working their way into the bodies and minds of its staff and students. Shelter from the bitter winds and snows that blow outside soon turn just as suffocating, as the stillness permits too many unwanted thoughts to worm their way into the crevices of your thoughts. A fresh distraction is desperately due, but in short supply during this season. A minor Faerghus noble knows these troubles all too well, and so she offers to Garreg Mach a small donation. A small, vacant building in town has now been renovated into a simple retreat for anyone to visit. Rustic and cozy, it features a host of simple food and drink, a warm fire…and a challenge not for the faint of heart! Participants need to eat a whole bucket of the spiciest pieces of chicken you can imagine or fall over trying. Will you come to cheer or boo the competitors on? Enter it yourself? Or stow yourself away in a more quiet corner to have a drink and reflect? 🏠
Have you ever wanted your own emblem ring? Well look no further! A professor at the academy, who shall not be named, has recently begun forging copies of his Ring of the Avenger, which he promises will grant overflowing power and arcane energies to any who equip it. But, he also warns, it curses the wearer with an insatiable urge for bloodlust! With so many copies floating around, surely these claims can’t be real… Better slip one on and find out for yourself! 💍
NEW! Stir-crazy students, desperate for anything new, have latched onto a new fad. An anonymous student’s ongoing novel, updated with a new chapter every other day with little fanfare in the past, takes the academy by storm! The premise is of a group of students on a frozen planet a grand city, the last bastion of humanity, in hopes of finding others of their kind. Students rave over the gripping plot and complex characters, but when the story begins inspiring reader to set out on an adventure of their own, the administration moves quickly to ban it from school grounds. You ought to see what all the fuss is about. 📚
NEW! This most recent run of the Arena results in more injuries than usual, and with resources scarce as-is, the infirmary turns to lesser-used remedies and ancient herbs to try to treat these wounds. Few people want to try them, for good reason: the list of potential side-effects is almost as long as your final essay in history class. Yet the nurses are in grave need of test subjects willing to test out these new cures. Will you help them out? [Grants Faith +1] 🌱

Receiving an Anonymous Love Letter ~ hq
Tumblr media
this seemed like a meh idea when i first started but now i'm pretty happy with how it turned out LOLLL
this is also a lil reward to myself by writing hq characters that i haven't yet! enjoy, and happy valentine's day 💌
Tumblr media
characters: hinata shoyo, sakusa kiyoomi, miya osamu, suna rintaro, tendou satori, tsukishima kei, sugawara koushi
cw: gn!reader, post-timeskip, fluff because we all need it, the boys being fucking dorks and us being here for it, also the contents of each letter are never specified so good luck using your imagination...
word count: 1.7k
Tumblr media
hinata : 日向くんへ
when he arrives at the gym one morning, meian hands him the envelope, saying that an unnamed someone dropped by and wanted him to have it. shoyo knows what the hell it is—there's a damn heart scrawled on next to his name—but there's no way he's believing that it isn't some sick joke to pull at his heartstrings.
there isn't any other hinata on the team... right?
he realizes it's a stupid question, but he double checks everyone else's jerseys just to be sure.
while bokuto and atsumu insist that he reads it before practice, shoyo puts it off for later. it doesn't help, though, because it puts his mind elsewhere and causes him to make sloppy shots, and receives that are longer than they should be, and an emergency set that he nearly misses, and—
shit. he has to know what's inside.
at lunch, he sneaks into the bathroom to finally focus on the letter. needless to say, the words get him falling harder with every sentence, and he returns to practice with a giddy energy and a determined concentration that seems to stay for the weeks to follow. he vows to himself to thank his beloved Letter Sender-san if he ever finds out who they are.
so when you—you, of all people—reveal yourself to him at the next match that the jackals win, shoyo thinks an ecstatic kiss is exactly what he owes you after all the times your words helped push him to do better.
sakusa : 佐久早くんへ
he immediately decides that he wants nobody else to find out.
unfortunately, a certain someone's "oooh, omi-kun, what's the envelope? ya got a pen pal? a secret admirer?" makes it very difficult, but he manages.
he tries not to think about it, really, but he finds himself keeping the letter in a safe, clean drawer at home to re-read its contents every once in a while. the flowery feeling that settles in his chest whenever he remembers the anonymous confession doesn't seem to leave, either. at this point, it's been weeks, and he's getting a bit antsy.
kiyoomi then decides that maybe he wants... one person to find out. he'd understand, right?
in fact, after being let in on the secret, motoya understands two things: one, that his cousin is dumber at this thing than he thought; and two, that the only possible person to have sent the letter is you.
of course, that's what he tells kiyoomi, which is met with the initial skepticism. because come on, it's you, why would you ever think of him like...
okay. fine. the more he thinks about it, the more open he becomes to the idea. the more he recognizes that he likes it, too.
so after waiting for a response for what felt like forever, you receive a text that says "hey, you free this weekend?"
and knowing kiyoomi the way you do, you're sure it's a good sign.
osamu : 宮くんへ
after finding it attached to the receipt (and tip) that a customer left behind, he calls his brother to tell him, and—just like in any other situation—they proceed to argue about it.
"it only says 'to miya-kun', so it's obviously mine. 'cuz i'm more popular, ya know. like, objectively."
"tsumu, ya dumbass, it was in my restaurant."
"they prob'ly just wanted ya to give it to me, the better choice. think a li'l, samu!"
"say that again, but slower. i dare ya."
twinly support is thrown into that conversation, they promise. somehow.
when you come back to the restaurant, you decide that you're brave enough to write a "thank you <3" on your tissue after last time's stunt. but before you can leave, osamu is already at your table thanking you, until his eyes land on your little note.
there's a brief moment before you think: fuck, handwriting.
it takes less than that moment for him to make the connection, murmuring, "so it was you."
"i—i have to go," you blurt out, heart plummeting into your stomach. the chime of the entrance is close to follow as you rush out the door. you become very close to burying yourself in a hole that night.
but the next morning, there's an onigiri miya delivery at your doorstep, a new envelope folded into the bento wrapping. it's signed with a heart, addressed to your name, and you're very glad you didn't bury yourself in that hole.
suna : 角名くんへ
honestly? he finds it funny.
sure, kinda cute, but mostly funny. after all, it's not the first time he's received a message like that, and it's surely not the first time he's brushed it off easily. he'll admit that this one is sweeter than most others, but that doesn't change the fact he wouldn't spare the stuff a second glance.
but that's only because he's already made up his mind—nobody, especially not some random letter sender, can compare to you.
which is precisely why rin finds it weird when you start to ask him if anything interesting happens at practice other than, well, actual practice. the suspicion only grows as you keep pressing the topic, until "you haven't, like, received anything?" slips past your mouth.
oh.
the second it clicks, he rushes home. while fumbling through the messy stash of letters that he put aside out of pity, all he can think is how there is no way this is actually happening. his heart jolts when he's finally able to show you the very envelope you sent, leaving you no choice but to confess to your crime.
he flashes you one of those trademark lazy smirks. "damn, and here i was thinking it was just another fan mail letter."
you fake a frown. "so i'm only on tier with your fans? is that it?"
"what? no, no." rin is unable to hide the panic that floods his features, quickly slinging an arm around your shoulders. "c'mon. if anything, i'm your biggest fan."
tendou : 天童くんへ
on a trip home for vacation, ushijima picks him up from the airport like the good best friend he is and declares that someone asked him to deliver a "VIP package." naturally, after drinking up its contents, tendou is obsessed with finding out who the letter is from, except...
"wakatoshi-kun, please! i won't—"
"i promised them i wouldn't tell, tendou."
except it doesn't go very well.
the silver lining, however, is that he learns the letter was only the first in a series: the rest are clues that come every few days for him to figure out the identity of the anonymous sender. it's a cat and mouse game being dangled right in front of his nose, and tendou doesn't care that he's falling for the bait.
scattered over the course of a couple weeks are multiple meetups with high school friends, visits to restaurants he's trained at, and playing volleyball at familiar courts. the clues keep coming, too, but his search doesn't seem to get him anywhere.
soon enough, tendou is already back at the airport. he's so close to figuring it out, he swears, and he knows his trip will be a complete failure if he doesn't—
a random number sends him the final clue. everything suddenly makes sense.
and since he's a tad bit desperate to spend time with his adorably precious admirer who went out of their way to do so many things, tendou misses his flight on purpose to pick you up for a spontaneous date night. rebooking is always an option; and frankly, insisting that you tag along is one, too.
tsukishima : 月島くんへ
kogane and kyoutani are right there when it falls out of his locker, so of course he's excessively vocal about finding it weird, maybe even creepy. how the hell did someone get it in there, anyway?
secretly, though, he's mostly just skeptical at the fact someone would even go through all the effort to send him a bunch of sweet, appreciative words at all. really—for him, of the hundreds of other worthwhile guys? definitely a prank.
but there's a small part of tsukki that flutters at the idea that it isn't.
small part, yes, but big enough to make him a little nosy. some asking around tells him that the gym receptionist pulled in a favor for a friend. he then pries some details out of her until it becomes a wild goose chase (that he's able to hide from everyone except maybe tadashi and yachi) where he ends up at your favorite café finding out from another regular about how much you had struggled with the stationary and a thesaurus website.
you get a notification from him saying he wants to meet up, and you almost shit yourself.
"are you out of your mind?" tsukki scoffs right as you sit down. you're about to stammer out a defense when there's a gentle hand on your shoulder. "you could've told me straight-up."
as you reel at him unblinkingly, he stifles a laugh. "do you know what i did just to find out who wrote the damn thing? there's no way you're dense enough to think i'd ever shut you down."
sugawara : 菅原くんへ
he finds it on his desk in the faculty room out of the blue, and none of the other teachers want to tell him who left it there. he ends up thinking about it throughout the day, clinging at the chance to play detective; the tone of the sentences, the choice of words—they just feel so... familiar?
but before suga knows it, the envelope falls. out of his bag. in the middle of class. for students to see.
"oooh, suga-sensei has a love letter!"
ah, well. he's dealt with worse before, he supposes.
to continue with the lesson, he promises those interested in his situation that he'll sit with them at recess to talk about it. and he does, to which he finds out how surprisingly straightforward kids at this age seem to think.
"look, sensei! not everyone writes that phrase like that," one of them says, while another scrunches up her nose: "and this joke isn't even funny. you gotta know a person who would think it is, right sensei?"
oh, right. he does know someone like that. and the someone is you.
after class, he makes plans to see you right away. you agree, but are die-hard disheartened at how quickly he figured it out.
"had some help," suga answers cheekily when you ask how, and he can't help but take your hands to brush your knuckles against his lips. "and now i am so glad to know that these wrote all that."
