★ LEE HEESEUNG (0.5k words)
the day was coming to an end and heeseung has yet to find you.
after he had politely rejected karina, he ran after you but to no avail. all of his attempts on trying to reach you was a bootless errand. everytime he had seen a glimpse of you - whether in the cafeteria, library, the hallways, and god even in your shared class - you somehow always found a way to avoid him.
he could've simply gave up and moved on, he could've ran back to karina and date her instead. but he didn't want to give up and move on, he didn't want to run back to karina and date her, because what he wanted- needed, was you.
heeseung didn't want to go home yet, he needed to see you and explain everything. he'd be a fool to let you out his reach especially now that he knows you feel the same for him. he wasn't going to lose you because of a stupid mistake he made.
spotting a familiar figure sitting underneath a tree in the university's garden, he silently walked towards them, his fingers crossed hoping that he's finally found you.
and as if the universe was on his side, he saw you gorgeously flipping through a book with your pink earphones on. heeseung silently sat beside you, hoping you won't run away from him again. he saw how you stiffened and how your fingers stopped playing with the book's pages, and he wanted nothing but to hold your hand. it was your hand he wanted to hold- no one else's. you may not be with him yet, but ever since he realized he liked you, he was already yours before you even knew.
"y/n," he started softly, gently removing one earbud from your ear so you could hear him. you let him and look at him with hesitance, scared that he's here to tell you that he's changed his mind and he likes karina now instead.
heeseung smiled softly at you, "please let me talk and explain everything, okay?" you nodded, feeling your throat clogging up. "karina, you know she's one of my good friends, right? when you saw me holding her hand a while ago, she was the one who took my hand. i was so taken aback by her confession that i completely froze-..
because she's like a sister to me and you're the one i want. you're the one i need.. the one i like." he paused, brows furrowed in worry, hoping you'd understand. "i'm sorry for letting her hold my hand, and i'm sorry for hurting you. i really really like you y/n, please let me redeem myself to you." he finished, a small hesitant smile in his face as he studied yours.
feeling overwhelmed, you burst into tears. heeseung panicked, thinking he said something wrong and brought you to his chest, wrapping his arms around you.
"i thought you'd choose her over me." you cried in his chest, your own arms wrapping around his waist. heeseung didn't know why, but even when you were crying in his chest with your arms wrapped around his waist, he was feeling over the moon.
shaking his head, he pulled you closer if it was even possible and mumbled in your hair, "i'll choose you in a room full of other girls baby. only you."

★  PARK JONGSEONG (0.5k words)
3 hours was enough space right? jay liked to think it was, he was too impatient and just wanted to run to you and explain everything, but he knew you probably didn't want to see him after what you've witnessed.
jay had tried to put himself in your shoe, imagining seeing you holding hands with another boy after confessing to you- by the thought of it alone already made him feel ten times more worse, he hated himself with how much pain he had caused you.
so instead of waiting until tomorrow, jay took his bag and walked out of the cafeteria, ignoring his friends that were calling for him. he already knew where to find you, after all, he's always had his eyes on you ever since the first semester started.
jay muttered a quiet 'good afternoon' to the librarian before making a beeline towards the back of the library and there you were in your element. laptop open, headphones on with multiple books on the table you've occupied.
he liked to think that his type were girls that were a bit dumb so that he could lead the relationship, but when it comes to you? smart, pretty, and soft spoken? if his heart could speak, he's certain that the only word it can mutter is your name, and he's not ashamed to admit that.
the moment you looked up and made eye contact with him almost made his knees give up if it weren't for him holding on to a shelf to stabilize himself, and when you softly smiled at him despite what you saw that morning, it made him yearn for you more. he wouldn't ask for no one else.
call him cliché but you were the only one for him.
"what are you doing there? come sit." you motioned on the empty seat across from you to which he occupied immediately. "have you eaten?"
"have you?" he questioned back, eyeing the papers and books splattered on the table. "i had coffee." was your reply.
jay knew that you were still upset, it was showing in your body language. you were tense, stiff, and your fingers were shaking behind your laptop. he wanted to punch himself for making you feel this way.
"i'm sorry y/n, i really am." the hum you let out made him continue, his eyes studying your pretty face silently. "it's really not what it looked like-"
"everyone says that jay." the way you bit your lip told him that you didn't mean to cut his sentence off and be so harsh.
"yes, i know, it's stupid but i'm telling the truth. she bumped into me and fell, i couldn't just leave her on the floor because everyone saw our collision so i offered her a hand. that was it, i was about to walk away but she introduced herself and insisted on shaking hands.. then you saw me.
i know it looked so wrong from your perspective without context, and i'm sorry for upsetting you. i really had no other intentions, i was telling you the truth when i told you that night that i like you too, so much." he reached out for your hand, sighing in relief when you didn't pull away.
you nodded your head in understanding, squeezing his hand to tell him you now understand. "i'm sorry for jumping into conclusions and not hearing you out the first time."
he shook his head, squeezing your hand back. "it's okay, i understand. we're good now?" chuckling at him, you nodded and smiled at him. "we are, thank you."
★ SIM JAEYUN (0.4k words)
the tears in your eyes as you walked away from him made his heart crack. should he run after you? will you find him annoying? do you want him to run after you or do you want nothing to do with him now?
after arguing with himself on his head, he ran after you and engulfed you in a hug before you could turn around the corner and disappear from his sight. "please let me explain." his own voice cracked, and the weird looks you both received from the other students did not faze him at all.
"jake, not here please. they're looking at us.." he hastily took your hand and led you into an empty classroom, wanting nothing more than to assure you that what you thought is wrong and all he wanted was only you.
after he had made sure the door was locked and no one else was hiding somewhere, he immediately took your hands in his rubbing the back of your palm with his thumb.
you didn't know what to feel, was this how he held that girl's hand too? did he hold hers with gentleness too? with that in thought, your tears were back.
"no no, please don't cry. it was all a misunderstanding i promise." he held your face and wiped away the tears, his eyes held worry but so much love as well.
"she mistook me as her boyfriend, it didn't even last for 10 seconds because the moment she held my hand we both pulled away from each other.. it was just wrong timing that you saw it and we made eye contact, please believe me." he was practically crying with you right now, his own tears cascading down the apple of his cheeks.
you frantically nodded your head - now you were the one panicking at the sight of his tears. "i do, thank you for explaining. please don't cry." his tears were wiped with your thumbs as you hugged him tight.
"i don't want you to ever think i'm lying to you, you're really all i need." he explained further through his sobs, his arms tightening around you more.
there you two were, hugging each other in an empty room, tears falling down from both of your eyes as you comforted each other. and at that moment, no one else mattered - it was just the both of you in the world.
★ PARK SUNGHOON (0.6k words)
to say that sunghoon felt like shit the whole day yesterday and this morning was an understatement. he had desperately contacted you in all your social media accounts - fucking christ he even contacted you through your school's email, but to no avail, he was always left ignored.
he didn't blame you though, if he was to experience and see what you did yesterday, he would act the same - maybe even worse. sunghoon wanted nothing more but to make it up to you, to explain that he was only doing wonyoung a favor to make her crush jealous. i guess you could blame him for agreeing, but did he really have a choice when she just randomly grabbed him and told him to smile at every passing student? maybe.
he had texted wonyoung that same afternoon, telling her- demanding her politely? to explain everything to you, she told him she did but was only left on read by you. the girl apologized profusely to you and sunghoon, she didn't have any idea about the two of you and if she did - she wouldn't have done what she did.
but what's done is done, and now sunghoon is still trying to desperately reach you. throughout the day, he would hear your name coming out of other people's mouth, but not once did he catch a single glimpse of you. sunghoon was running out of options, he didn't want to be that type of guy to show up infront of your door step in fear of crossing boundaries, but he was seriously considering doing it today.
sunghoon mentally chanted your name in his head as if that would help and summon you, and you know what? maybe it did work because now he was seeing you standing across from him, your back facing towards him as you looked at the bulletin board.
not wasting any time, he raced towards you and gently grabbed your forearm, successfully turning your attention from the bulletin board to the taller boy behind you. sunghoon wanted the ground to swallow him whole when he saw how your face dropped at the sight of him.
"let's talk, please?" he whispered that only you could hear, glancing around the corridor before looking back at you. the small hesitant nod was everything he needed before he lead you in an empty hall as everyone was in the cafeteria.
sunghoon took his chance and took you in, loving the way you've dressed yourself today and he wanted to just keep you in his arms all day, but he reminded himself that he needed to clear things up and make you his girlfriend obviously before he could even do that.
"wony already explained everything, i'm sorry for assuming the wrong thing.." sunghoon was taken aback by your sudden apology, and the tightness in his chest grew.
he took your face in his hand, gently bringing your chin up so he could look you in the eye. "i should be the one apologizing.. i'm sorry for making you feel that way, i didn't have any other intentions towards her and i only like you.. so much to the point that it hurts. i'll do anything to prove it to you."
he couldn't understand that someone so precious as you could grow such feelings for him, he couldn't process and believe that he's important to someone he finds important too. should he be punished by the gods above because he finds your teary eyes enchanting? he could see his reflection in your eyes and the love it carries, and somehow he finally understands. sunghoon feels warm as he brought you to his chest, tucking your head in the crook of his neck.
"i'll show you, i'll give you my everything and my forever. you're it for me."

“can you please let me in, baby?"
that was the fifth time bucky had asked the same question, never giving up on his mission to take care of you after learning from jarvis – out of all people... or robots? – that you were sick.
“bucky, i promise, i'm fine. stop trying to break the door,” you answered, your clogged nose not helping as you sounded horrible even with a concrete wall separating you from him. “go and tell steve that you're joining the mission. you can't withdraw yourself just because i'm—achoo!”
your nose began to leak, and you were now distracted with the need to find the tissue box that used to be on your bed. you didn't hear the door clicking open as well as the heavy footsteps of a certain soldier walking towards you.
“just because you're what? sick?”
you jumped, feeling the edge of the bed sink with his weight. you quickly grabbed the tissue box that was mysteriously thrown under the bed before facing bucky with the duvet covering most of your body.
“how did you open the door?”
bucky shrugged. “i broke the doorknob. you didn't say anything about breaking doorknobs.”
you sighed, not winning this argument with bucky. “you shouldn't be here, bucky. you're supposed to be preparing for a mission tomorrow, not babysitting me!”
“and let you go through this on your own? tough chance, doll. i'm your boyfriend for fuck's sake, and don't tell me that you're worried about getting me sick because we both know i'm immune," he argued, reaching out and pulling the blanket down enough to reveal your face. “are you really upset that i want to take care of you? you should be demanding things from me, baby. instead you've been hiding from me.”
“because i don't need anything, bucky. i can handle myself just fine." you huffed, knowing you wanted his attention and care so badly. remembering your face was exposed, you felt insecure again. you dragged the cover back up and turned away. “i also don't want you to see me like this.”
“like what?"
“like a mess," you muttered underneath the sheets. “you've never seen me like this before, and i swear i am the worst when i'm sick. you don't have to see me like this, okay? i don't want you to.”
you felt silly. it was completely normal to get sick, but you hated how extreme your body would act out whenever an illness would attack you. you'd always sound and look like you were fighting a battle in hell alone. the way your mind would take an entire flip and drag you to your lowest point didn't help either. so, not only were you feeling physically horrible, you were also struggling mentally.
“a mess? what mess?” he asked, lifting the cover to join you underneath it which caught you off guard. you were entirely exposed to his eyes now. “there's my girl. where's the mess that you're talking about, huh?”
with the little amount of energy left in you, you brought your hands up to cover your face. he could see how much of a mess you were now, far from the dream you've painted since the day you dated him. now, you were nothing but a nightmare of your reality.
“don't you dare hide from me. i haven't seen you all day and it's driving me insane," he complained, pulling your hands away from yourself. he brought his thumb to your teary eyes, wiping the tears away before they could fall. “i can't believe you're hiding from me just because you think i can't handle seeing you sick. what did you think i'd do once i saw you like this?”
you sniffed, hesitation holding you back from telling him the truth. it's only been three months since you've started dating bucky, and you were still in that stage where you'd constantly try impress him.
you weren't faking yourself, no. however, you still did your best to only show your good side and tuck away your insecurities. unfortunately, you had to get sick too soon and have to risk bucky seeing you this way.
“you thought i'd leave you? won't like you anymore? get turned off or something?”
you nodded, knowing that was exactly what went through your head and a bit pissed that he was able to read your mind without actually having the power to do so.
bucky's eyes softened at your confession, letting out a soft sigh as he saw how badly you were beating yourself up.
“if it's because of how you look right now, then it's true. you do look different," he answered, your chest tightening. “your eyes lost their glow, you're frowning more often, your eyes are all puffy, you are definitely grumpier than usual, your lips are dry and chapped from—”
“okay, i get it, bucky! you don't have to rub it in my fa—”
“but i won't be doing whatever is on your mind. you're sick, doll. it'll affect you. it's normal. hell, i look even worse when i used to get sick, but you? you still look so fucking lovely." he held your face gently, leaning forward to kiss your forehead. “even then, i don't give a fuck on how messy you can get. i'm your boyfriend. i should be taking care of you, helping you feel better, and bringing back the glow in your eyes. please, baby. let me take care of you.”
this time, you were looking back at him. "you mean it?"
"of course I mean it," he replied softly, his voice filled with sincerity. "i love you, doll. i don't care how you look like right now. you could look like a swamp monster and be sick as a dog, and i would still think that you are the most beautiful woman for me."
you giggled softly, his words filling you with warmth and reassurance. you felt so lucky to have a man who truly loved you and handled your insecurities with such understanding and care, and even sillier for thinking he'd leave you for such reasons.
“thank you. that really made me feel better," you told him, your arms slowly creeping forward to hold him. “i'm sorry for hiding. i was just scared to turn you off or anything.”
“are you kidding? i'm trying my best not to hold you down and kiss you all over. i haven't even hugged you for a day,” bucky said, a pout on the verge of forming on his face.
“it hasn't even been a day, bucky. now, who's dramatic?" you said, rolling your eyes playfully. “and you're supposed to be on a mission tomorrow! are you really not going?”
“when i could be here taking care of you?” he asked, as if the answer was already obvious. “the others can handle it. my main priority is to do anything you want and make you feel better.”
“anything?”
he smiled, leaning down to let your lips meet softly. "anything."
( a lil bonus < 3 )
“what is that smell?”
sam, steve, and natasha entered the compound after a quick briefing for their mission tomorrow. they joined tony and clint who were having a casual conversation in the living room about the best burrito in town.
the kitchen was an open space, the aroma of whatever bucky was cooking spreading all around the nearby rooms.
sam didn't hesitate to come closer and inspect the kitchen, finding the entire counter lined up with various spices and plates that bucky filled with his dishes.
“what's the occasion? did i miss something?" sam asked, grabbing a fork to take a little taste until bucky slapped his hand away. "ow! what was that for?"
"hands off." bucky warned, frowning at sam. “that's not for you, wilson."
“not even a nibble? come on, man. it smells amazing!”
their usual bickering caught the attention of the other avengers, immediately joining them in the kitchen which annoyed bucky even more when he saw them eyeing the food he made.
"before any of you try to ask, no. this is not for any of you."
"who's it even for?" natasha asked, the least interested to have a taste, but was curious either way.
bucky answered with your name. "she's sick."
"what? since when?" clint asked, worry flashing across his face. "can we do anything?"
bucky glanced up before hesitantly answering. "well.. she did say she wanted to watch a movie after eating."
clint snapped his fingers and smiled. "i'm on it."
"i'll get jarvis to check on her vitals every hour and create a diagnosis," tony said, already tapping on his smart watch. "assuming she wouldn't be too comfortable letting the entire team know what's going on with her body, i'll just let you receive the updates. just update me with what you can, yeah?"
"i'll talk to fury and let you both have a week free from work," steve offered. "she needs the rest and she needs you."
"oh, i'll handle fury. he can't say no to his favourite," natasha said with a smug smile. "tell her i'll bring her all her favourite snacks once we're back from our mission, and that she better be back to full health so we can go out together."
bucky nodded, chest warming with the genuine concern they shared. he was excited to let you know how loved and deserving of all this you were.

pretty boy. — gojo satoru
Tumblr media
notes: some domestic gojo, because god knows everyone needs it today.
content: no angst, here we just reject canon and embrace fluff. implied non!sorcerer reader, but can be read either way. established relationship. not proofread. this post is leak/spoiler free! this song is the vibe i was going for, if anyone is interested.
Tumblr media
"honey, i'm home!"
the familiar, ever-joyous tone of one gojo satoru rang through the apartment; it was always the highlight of your day. you, however, didn't respond. it concerned him a little, to be honest, but as soon as he heard the sounds of soft music echoing from the kitchen, he knew just where to find you.
you were too busy gently swaying to whichever song the radio station was playing to notice gojo. so, like any adoring boyfriend would, he leaned against the doorframe and watched.
he never thought he'd be lucky enough to have a love like you. with his position in the world of sorcery, and the prestige that his name carried, gojo always thought he'd be alone. hell, he was absolutely petrified of catching feelings for somebody, since there would likely be people willing to hurt the people that he loved in order to get to him. rationally, he knew he could defeat them, but the thought always lingered.
thus, he was incredibly grateful for peaceful moments like this. moments where he could forget that he was the honoured one, and feel like all he is is yours— because that's all he desires anymore.
gojo knocks on the doorframe, not wishing to startle you as you cook. you jumped a little, but immediately settled the very second you saw those blue eyes and messy white locks. he looked so effortlessly attractive, even after a full day's work.
without even saying a word, he saunters over to you and wraps his arms around your waist. his chin rests on the top of your head, and he continues to sway you to the rhythm. as he hums softly, you recognize that he's probably had a difficult day. it's not like him to be so quiet.
you relax under his touch and let him hold you, knowing he needs it right now. "i love you," he mumbles. each words is sincere with him. the tone is more sombre than usual, almost like you'd have expected the words to come from nanami instead.
you get to a point that you can leave the food alone for a moment as it cooks, and turn around to face gojo. his arms remain around you, but you can see his face more clearly now. he's exhausted, and trying to mask that. you move a few stray hairs out of his face, carressing his cheek. "i love you too," you finally reply.
the returned sentiment puts a smile on his face. it's not the regular, goofy grin he displays around others. it's something more real, and it makes you feel like you're one of the few people that gojo really lets in on how he's feeling. if anything, you quite literally are, as his infinity was lowered the second that he stepped into the threshold of your apartment.
since your guard is so far down, gojo begins to move you with ease. he guides your body around the kitchen, causing the pair of you to fall into a rather messy slow dance of sorts. both are content, at peace in each others' arms. there's a blissful silence, a rarity for the gojo household, where nothing but the calming music fills the air.
the two of you remain in this little, serendipitous bubble for a while. the only thing that pops it is when the food on the stove makes a concerning noise, and you notice that you were so caught up that it began to burn.
"shit!" you squeal, leaping out of gojo's arms to try to salvage your meal. he just chuckles, finding your hectic movements amusing.
"baby, don't worry about it," he says, smiling as he pulls out his phone. "i'm ordering in, we can deal with this mess tomorrow,"
gojo then moves closer to you, wrapping you up in his arms so that you can't escape with ease. he waddles backwards towards the living room, not stopping until you're both plopped down on the couch (of course he's on top of you, pinning you down yet somehow not suffocating you with the mess of long limbs that he is).
he flicks on the screen, which is showing some older and kind-of sappy romcom, and presses a few buttons to order your food. the night ends with the coffee table littered in takeout boxes and some movie still playing— you weren't sure what, as you had both fallen asleep in each other's embrace long ago.

Night Shift
Tumblr media
Pairing: Jaime Reyes x F!Reader
Summary: Jaime doesn't like that you work a night shift at a bar, so setting out to get a job at Kord Industries, you're shocked when he comes home with something else....
Warnings: mentions of men being pervs, lots of screaming and a little bit of violence, SPOILERS FOR BLUE BEETLE!
Word Count: 2.4k
A/N: My first full fic in a while? Yes, it is indeed and with my new love, Jaime Reyes. If you haven't seen Blue Beetle, pause and go buy a ticket cause this movie is good! So proud of mi Xolito! Anyway, I'm proud of this, so enjoy! 💕💕💕
I don't consent to my work being copied, reposted, or translated.
“You don’t have to do this, y’know? I’ll get the job tomorrow and work hard to support the family and us,” Jaime stood up from your bed, grabbing hold of your hands to stop you from getting ready for work.
“Jaime, I know you want to do everything you can to stop us from losing the house, but we need the money, wherever we can get it from,” you inhaled.
You moved in with the Reyes three years ago after your parents kicked you out. The details are unimportant and messy but you were happy you ended up in a loving household after all. The only problem now, you’re on the brink of becoming homeless.
“But a job where drunk assholes violate you?” he scoffed and you rolled your eyes, knowing most customers haven’t gotten handsy since you started. “It’s not right,” he shook his head, squeezing your hands. “I don’t want you to have to go through that,” he rested his forehead against yours.
You knew he meant well. It sucked having to work at a bar where wearing low-cut tops and push-up bras made for extra tips. Especially when you worked during the night. But then again, even when businesses are going bankrupt, bars are seemingly filling in at an all-time high. You had to take advantage of the dire situation even if Jaime didn’t like it.
“I can handle my own,” you smirked. “Nana taught me a thing or two,” you winked.
“I bet she did,” he chuckled.
“And besides,” you removed your hands from his grip, smoothing them up his arms until they rested on his biceps. “I have my big strong boyfriend to protect me,” you looked at him finding the blush forming on his face adorable.
He wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you in as he leaned forward to kiss you. His lips moved against yours slowly, one of your hands moving up to tug on the hair of the nape of his neck.
Living in a small house with five other people gave you no privacy whatsoever, so moments like these were cherished. All those stolen glances, hidden kisses, late-night talks—it all meant something.
“I gotta go, okay? I’ll see you in the morning,” you pulled away.
“You’re crazy if you think I’m letting you walk to work alone at eleven at night,” he grabbed your arm lightly, pulling you back into his embrace. “I’ll be there to pick you up at seven too,” he said and you sighed out contently.
“It means a lot, but don’t you have your job interview tomorrow?” you rested your head against his chest as you both walked out of your and Milagro’s room.
“I’ll sleep, wake up, pick you up, then come back and get ready,” he shrugged and you agreed with his well-thought-out plan.
“Ya te vas, mija?” Rocio asked once you both entered the kitchen and you nodded. “Cuidate, y come tu comida, no quiero que te desmayes,” she handed you a paper sack and you smiled, thanking her.
It was things like that which made you grateful for Jaime’s family—your family. The constant protection and worry they hold over you like one would for a daughter or sister. Making sure you had a lunch packed so you can eat and not faint during your shift. It warmed your heart and made you grateful every day.
“Make sure she gets there safe, okay, Jaime?” Alberto pointed to his son and your boyfriend nodded, reassuring the two.
Walking out of the house, you found your hands intertwined as you made your way down the block. You glanced at Jaime to find him smiling at you before he looked ahead. You grinned at the fact you caught him before you too continued your focus forward.
Palerma City was alive at night, even in the small barrio you lived in. The streets were dark, flickering lamp posts illuminating the people who were still up trying to make a living by whatever means. You looked far past, the bright neon skyline of the city, all the rows of high rises where all the rich white folk were fast asleep tucked away in silk sheets.
You would get there one day.
“What did my mom pack for your lunch?” he asked, pulling you out of your thought.
“A torta de jamon, an apple and orange, some Fritos, and oh, a gansito,” you gasped in excitement before you stuffed the bag in your backpack. “I know exactly what I’m eating first,” you giggled.
“My mom literally said we ran out of gansitos,” he said in shock. “She loves you more than me,” he feigned hurt and you wrapped your arm around him, cooing as you kissed his cheek.
“What can I say? I’m lovable,” you hummed.
The two of you turned the corner and you found yourself at “Margaritaville”, the newest establishment where you got paid minimum wage and received great tips from businessmen who got off on a pretty bartender flirting with them before they made their way home to their wives. Or from people who recently got laid off from their jobs and needed someone to talk to.
Either way, you’d put on your best smile, bat your lashes and make sure your top was low enough if that meant being able to pay part of the rent.
“Be safe, okay?” Jaime pulled you in for a hug. “I’ll be awake at 6:30,” he promised.
“I will,” you mumbled into his neck before pulling away. “See you soon,” you smiled, pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
He cupped your cheek before you pulled away, your fingers pulling along his, straining to stay in touch as you kept moving toward the door until they unlinked, his arm stayed hovered in the air for a split moment while yours dropped to the side. He watched as you turned back and waved until you entered through the back door, making sure to stay for a minute before he turned back around.
The lingering touch of you remained on his fingers until he arrived home and made his way to bed. It wasn’t fair you had to become a main stream of income for the house. It shouldn’t be you pulling in the long hours, it should be him.
He needed to get that interview at Kord Industries tomorrow.
~
You undid your apron, shoving it back into your backpack. You let out a sigh as you did a once over to the barely empty bar. The next shift already arrived and was taking care of the customers. Letting out a yawn, you placed your tips in your pocket, opening the back door only to be greeted by Jaime who was waiting at the curb.
“Buenos dias, mi amor,” he smiled and you felt your cheeks blush at the pet name he liked to change out every once in a while. “Made you breakfast,” he handed you something rolled in some paper towels before you unveiled two bean burritos. “How was work?” he kissed your cheek while he took your bag from you.
“Made $150 in tips,” you stated, biting into your food. “Getting paid tomorrow, so it went well,” you nodded. “Customers were more to themselves tonight, except for this one guy who was crying about his wife leaving him. I think he left looking for a prostitute to be honest,” you chuckled.
“Poor dude,” he hummed. “But the money is good,” he said, wrapping his arm around you.
The rest of the short walk was made in silence and it was calming to just have Jaime by your side. The eight-hour shift takes it out on you and you couldn’t wait to go to sleep.
“Hola,” you greeted as you walked through the door.
“Como te fue?” Nana asked and you responded to her before a yawn came out.
“Disculpe,” you pressed a hand to your chest. “I’m gonna go shower,” you said, the family understanding as you made your way to your room.
After a quick shower and changing into casual wear, you felt refreshed as you walked back into the family room. The whole family was gathered as Jaime stood in the middle, hair geled back and his fancy clothes put on.
“Wow, que chulo,” you complimented with a bright smile plastered on your face as you stood behind the couch.
“You see, cabezon? You look fine,” Uncle Rudy told his nephew and Jaime nodded in defeat, clearly flustered. “Y/N wouldn’t lie, she loves you too much for that!” he cackled and you joined in, making Jaime blush even more.
“Let’s go and get this over with, I still don’t trust that Jenny girl,” Milagro muttered under her breath and you sent a glance at Jaime.
You were aware of what happened when Milagro and Jaime lost their job with Victoria Kord. Millie was correct to have a distaste for the older lady, but after her niece offered an olive branch, giving Jaime an opportunity–you weren’t sure if she was in the right to have that distrust. But then again, you weren’t there.
“Descansas, okay?” Nana kissed you on the cheek and gave you the blessing before she walked out and you nodded.
The rest of the family walked out, leaving you and Jaime left.
“Good luck, okay?” you grabbed his face and gave him a chaste good luck kiss. “I know you’re gonna woo them over,” you sent him a sure smile.
“How are you so sure about that?” he held your wrists, running his thumbs over your delicate skin.
“Cause, you’re Jaime Reyes”.
~
“You don’t know what’s inside?” you heard Millie ask.
You were awakened by muffled conversations, your brows furrowing as you checked the time. They couldn’t have come back that soon and if something serious happened, they would’ve woken you up.
About to drift back to sleep, you eyes shot open by shouting. The voices of Jaime, Millie, and Rudy combine together. Bolting out of bed fast, you opened the door and ran into the dining room, finding Millie and Rudy to be playing hot potato with a blue bug, Jaime trying to get them to stop.
“Mira, look what you did! You woke her up,” Rocio gestured to you and the room suddenly got quiet.
“Ay, Y/N, I’m sorry,” Jaime winced, trying to grab the thing from Millie but she held it out of his reach.
“Look what Jaime brought back. That Jenny girl is a total floozy, like what is this that she gave him?” she cocked a brow, holding it clearly so you could see.
“A bug?” you rubbed your eyes. “Why would she give you a bug?” you asked, walking closer.
“She told me to guard it with my life, I wasn’t even supposed to open it,” your boyfriend explained and his words made you uneasy.
“I think you should put it back, you don’t know what it can be,” you turned to Millie.
“She’s right,” Jaime held out his hand and Milagro reluctantly agreed, placing it in his palm.
You watched as he was about to place it back in the box until it lit up, his face inching closer to inspect it. You stared back in amazement, the bug coming to life.
“I think it likes me,” he grinned, glancing up at you with a twinkle in your eyes that made your heart skip a beat. But that smile was instantly wiped away the moment the bug launched itself onto his face.
“JAIME!” you screeched, the family shooting up from their seats as they tried to aid him.
“It’s on your face!” Uncle Rudy screamed before he grabbed onto the bug, attempting to rip it off but it shot out a bolt of electricity, sending him across the room and Jaime against the wall.
Your body began to shake and you wanted to run over to help Jaime but he got up, the bug detaching from his face until it crawled over his shoulder and under his shirt like a spider you wanted off immediately.
“Jaime!” you shouted, his body thrashing around the room like he was fighting with the bug. “Baby, please,” you cried, hands over your mouth as you tried to begin to process what was going on but you couldn’t.
“Oh god,” Jaime stilled, hunched over as he looked at you. “I think it’s inside of me,” his gaze filled with panic and you felt your skin crawl. “It’s inside of me!” he screamed, hand reaching out for yours before he doubled over in pain, the bug poking out underneath his clothes before arms pierced through, sending him up against the ceiling.
Another wave of screams sounded, the love of your life’s agony cries being the worst thing you ever heard. The tears were falling down your cheeks. You wanted to help him but couldn’t. You wanted to know what was going on but didn’t. You were completely helpless in this situation.
Black goo grew over his body, his clothes burning to crisps and you were afraid of what it was going to do once it got all of him. Were you about to lose your Jaime? How did you get to this point when it was just a job interview?
“Y/N!” his call for you made your heart stop and you tried telling him you were here but his cries drowned it out.
Suddenly, he was completely transformed, a suit of armor in black and blue engulfed him. The cries and the screams quieted down as you all stared at him. A split second ago, you thought he was going to die, but now he was fine? It didn’t make sense.
“Mijo?” Rocio called out as Jaime walked over to the photo of La Virgen, his illuminating yellow eyes staring back into the reflection.
“What was that?” he looked back in shock, hands over his mouth. “Did you hear that?” his voice was panicked, his expression hidden with the eyes providing just the tiniest amount of concern.
“Jaime, what’s going on?” you took a step forward.
“That voice, you don’t hear a voice?” he walked forward, standing in the middle of the room, surrounded by all of you. The suit seemed to have turned on, blue light glowing between grooves and you all watched in awe. “Systems check?” he mumbled, looking around the room.
“Jaime?” you asked, noticing the arms powering up.
“It’s okay, everything is going to be okay!” he shouted just as he was flown through the ceiling before he became a dot in the sky.
Nothing was okay.

Summary: Reader gives Colby the cold shoulder for something that happened years ago, only to come to terms with what they want to do about it.
Warnings: SMUT18+, strong language, reader is kind of snippy with Colby, alcohol consumption, slight name calling, use of pet names, hair pulling, choking, oral (f rec), unprotected slightly intoxicated sex, just filth
This honestly did go the way I wanted it to, so might rewrite it later on or something. I don’t know, but there's going do be a point in this one shot to where I add more warnings. You'll understand when you come to it. Enjoy! 🖤

"You rented out a club?" You raise your brows, "Wow, you really do plan on celebrating." You put the straw of your iced coffee between your lips.
"Yeah, well this is a big thing to be celebrating." Sam laughs, "I just.. I know you and Colby don't really get along.. so I just-"
You put your hand up, "I can tolerate him for you, Sam. So, no worries. It's just when he-"
"Well, well, well, look who we have here."
You roll your eyes, pointing behind you, "That."
"Hey." Sam says leaning back into the couch, "Where were you?" Colby sits down on the arm of your chair, knowing that it will bug the shit out of you, "I went down to the club, talked to the owner."
"Without me?" Sam tilts his head, "I figured, since you and Princess here-" he nods towards you and you roll your eyes, "-were busy planning this, I would take the liberty of going down and paying the down payment."
"Oh shit." Sam looks at you and you nod, "I totally forgot."
"See. Don't worry. I'm not just worried about partying." He winks at you and you slowly look towards Sam, "Can I strangle him now?"
Sam laughs, "Can you wait until after the party's over?"
You nod, "I guess I can strangle him with a streamer or something."
Colby laughs, "Don't threaten me with a good time." You scoff, standing up, "I'm going shopping. I need a dress for tomorrow night."
"Oh, can I come, too? I need to find a nice shirt." Sam leans forward and you nod, "You can. But he can't."
"What did I do to be punished by staying home?" Colby raises his hands and you laugh, "By Colby being Colby."
You were actually surprised when Colby didn't follow you guys out the door.
"So what's your deal with Colby, really? You never really filled me in on that. All I know is that you just hate him." Sam asks as he buckles up.
You laugh, "I know he's your friend, brother, bestie, whatever, but he just gets on my last nerve. Every single time he's around me."
Sam laughs, "Have you ever thought that maybe he likes you?"
"Did he say he likes me?" You glance over at Sam as you drive and Sam shakes his head, "No. I'm just asking if you ever thought about it."
"Now I'm thinking maybe you should have joined him." You mumble with a laugh, "No, I mean. I guess I never really thought- no. No. I don't. Next subject please."
Sam laughs, shaking his head, "Oh yeah. You guys like each other. You just don't know it yet."
You roll your eyes, "Yeah, tell that to the multiple girls in his phone."
Sam sighs, "Colby isn't what you think. Now, I'm not sticking up for him when he constantly picks on you, but at the same time, he doesn't act the way he acts with you when he's with other people."
"Other girls, you mean." You smirk slightly and sam nods, "Well, yeah."
You sigh, "It's like he knows he annoys me and he just uses that to his advantage at really getting under my skin."
"You let him."
You look at Sam, "No I don't."
"Yes you do."
"Do fucking not."
He laughs, "Do fucking to."
"I'm done talking." You lay your hand over your mouth, "Actually- no. Nevermind."
Sam laughs, "As I said. You guys like each other. You just don't know it yet."
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
"I think I'm just going to settle with this mesh romper style looking dress." You hang the other dresses up and Sam tilts his head, "Do you like that one?"
You shrug, "I mean it's com-" your phone ringing catches your attention and you roll your eyes when you see it's Colby.
"Out of me and Sam. You had to call me?" You say as you bring the phone to your ear.
"Yeah, because I knew it would bug you." Colby laughs, "Can you do me a favor?"
"It depends." You look at Sam and he tilts his head, "What's up?"
You shrug, holding up your pointer finger.
"Can you pick me up a shirt? Like a nice button up or something? You know what I like to wear."
"Really. Why didn't you just-"
Colby cuts you off, "Now before you finish that sentence, remember who banished me from coming along. So consider this.." he hums, "I don't know, payback?"
You fight back laughter, "Go to hell, Colby."
"Hell with you sounds like heaven to me. See ya when you get back, Princess."
And with that, Colby hangs up.
You look at Sam, "I guess we have to pick up Colby a shirt for Saturday, too." He laughs and sighs, "I knew that was going to happen."
"And you didn't say anything before?" You say as you walk back over to the dress section. Sam shrugs, "I like to see how things play out."
You roll your eyes, "I hate you sometimes."
Sam slings his arm over your shoulder, "We both know that that isn't true."
You laugh, "Whatever you say." You look through the dresses and gasp slightly when you come across a navy blue dress with chain straps that cross in the back, "Nevermind. I like this one better."
You put the other one on the rack, picking up the blue one, "Alright, now to find you and douche bag a shirt."
"You can be so nice sometimes." Sam laughs and you look at him, "I know, right."
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
"Yo Colby. We're back." Sam yells as you walk into the house.
You close the door, looking around to find the house empty, or so you thought.
"Colby?" Sam yells again and you point to the steps, "I'll run up and put his shirt in his room."
You dig through the bag and pull out his shirt. You sling it over your shoulder as you move up the steps.
You let out a sigh as you reach the top, turning to walk down the hall. You twist the knob, pushing the door open and you freeze when you see a shirtless Colby sitting at his computer with his headphones on.
After a few seconds, you blink, breaking your stare and you clear your throat. You throw the shirt at him and he jumps, whipping his head over to look at you.
"Jesus Christ, y/n." He laughs as he pulls his headphones down around his neck. He pulls the shirt off his shoulder and the back of the chair.
"Sam yelled for you twice." You lean against the door frame, "Does that reach your standards?"
Colby holds up the split, two tone skull button up, "I knew I could count on you." He looks back at you and you roll your eyes, "Uh huh. You're welcome."
As you go to close the door, Colby stops you, "Hey, wait a second."
"Yeah?" You blink slowly, looking at him.
"Why don't you hang out with me for a while? I can promise I'm not as bad as you think." He spins towards you and you suck air through your teeth, "Something tells me that sticking my hand in vat of acid would hurt less than being alone with you."
"Um.." he tilts his head, shaking it slightly, "Ouch?" He laughs and raises his hands, "Why do you despise me so much?"
No one knows the real reason, you refuse to tell anyone why. It felt silly, but at the same time.. it felt like it was best to keep it between you and only you.
Younger you, the one that Colby, unknowingly, broke the heart of, was holding a grudge, to say the least.
So you put up a wall.
You made Colby the enemy so you wouldn't fall for him like you did years ago.
"I just.. have better things to do than g-" you stop yourself, "I have plans, dinner plans with friends."
"Yeah? Where at?" Colby smirks and you roll your eyes, "Kris, Celina, and I are going to that new place that opened on Fifth."
"Hmm. I see. Well you three have fun."
You nod, turning around and pulling the door shut, and you mentally curse yourself because Sam was right.
You do, infact, allow him to get under your skin because a part of you, a big part, is still madly in love with him.
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
As you walk into your apartment from dinner with friends, your phone chimes in your purse. You let out a sigh, closing the door before setting your purse on the stand and digging out your phone.
You smirk slightly when you see it's a text from Colby, So, how was dinner? Is that place worth going to?
You kick your shoes off, walking over to the couch and plopping down, I mean.. yeah. It was worth it I'd say.
You set your phone down, switching on your tv, but your mind can't focus on what's playing. Instead, it focuses on what Sam said earlier on in the day.
"You two like each other, you just don't know it yet."
You start questioning everything, Was he implying that Colby liked you? Could you be able to open up to him again? Why didn't he seen that you liked him before? Was there something wrong with you back then?
Colby was the first person you ever felt love for. When you seen him with, not just another girl, but with your friend that knew you liked him - it shattered you.
That first heartbreak was the worst, and since you were friends with Sam, it followed you.
Haunted you for all these years.
You phone dings and you blink, looking over at it. You pick it up and laugh weakly as your eyes scan over Colby's texts.
We should drag Sam there before we head to the club on Saturday.
So now I'm getting radio silence?
Come on, Princess. You can't ignore me, we're so in love, remember?
You bring your phone down, resting in your lap as you type, you know that I hate you right?
You start to type out a message, Actually, Colby. I take that back. I don't actually hate you I-
You stop once you see Colby's message pop up, you know, I once heard that enemies make the best lovers.
You delete your half written text, replacing it, oh yeah? Where did you hear that from? The little voice inside of your head.
You laugh slightly and toss your phone down, getting up to go get a drink. By the time you come back, you have two new messages.
Of course from Colby.
Hey, that man is smart. At times. Don't judge me.
Listen, can we hang out? I think we can get along just fine.
You read his message, debating on what you should do. Of course you want to hang out with him, but that little piece of you wants to keep pushing him away.
By the time you start typing out a lie, there's a knock on your door.
You walk over, looking out of the peep hole and sighing as you open the door, "You're relentless, Brock."
"Yet.. you still open the door for me." He smirks as he walks in, "I always forget how small your apartment is."
You close the door, "You know you can leave at any-"
"Relax, princess. I'm joking." He smirks as he shrugs off his black leather jacket, "So whatcha have good for dinner?"
You watch as he walks over to the couch, sitting down, "Um. I just had.. the pasta."
Fight it.
No, tell him. Tell him how you really feel.
No. You have to fight it. He's your enemy. He broke your heart.
He doesn't know that.
You shake your head, huffing as you get the little angel and demon on your shoulders to shut up.
"What did you say?" You tilt your head, "Sorry. I'm just really tired."
"Mhm." Colby hums, "I asked how fancy the place was."
You walk over, sitting on the opposite end of the couch, "Eh, I mean it's more like a business casual type place? I don't know. We just showed up how we all normally dress and no one batted an eye, so I don't really think it matters."
Colby stares at you and you look at him, "What?"
A smile grows on his face a slowly, "That's the nicest you've ever been to be."
"Oh fuck off." You laugh, "What are you doing here anyway?"
Colby leans back against the couch, extending his arm over the back, "I told you I wanted to hang out."
Your eyes scan over his ring covered fingers, "Yeah, I was going to tell you-"
"A lie." He says cutting you off, "yeah. I figured that's why I didn't give you an option." He laugh, "I know I can be hard to deal with sometimes, but I think if we can work whatever your issue is with me, we can be decent friends."
"It's not.." you sigh, "I just.." you struggle to come up with something and Colby calls you out, "It's not.. you just.. what? What?" He laughs, "Do you like me? Are you nervous and you try to cover it up with being mean to me?"
You laugh, "You're ridiculous." You look at him, "Me.. liking you? Please."
"Would that be such a bad thing?" He shrugs, "I mean, honesty is the best policy, right?"
"I thought you came here to hang out, not interrogate me." You roll your eyes, fighting back a smile. Colby raises his hands, "Yeah, right. Sorry."
"So this party." You lean back and look at him, "Who all is going to be there?"
"Usually the same ones who are at the others. Me, you. Sam. Jake and Johnnie. Tara. Oh." He snaps, "We got the triplets to come."
You raise your brows, "You guys Nick, Chris, and Matt to come? Wow. Look at you. Moving up in the world." You tease with a laugh, "so I'm sure it'll be fun."
He nods, "I'm hoping."
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
A few hours later you wake up, blanket over your body and the end credits to the movie rolling on the tv screen.
You sit up, looking around, but Colby is no where to be found.
You reach for your phone to check the time, but see a message from Colby. You click on it, opening the text to see a picture of you asleep on the couch, you look so pretty when you sleep.
Although it was a sweet gesture, your wall is still up around yourself, you'll look pretty after I stab you.
You set your phone down, standing up to go change into comfier clothes.
As you come back, your phone dings, but it's not who you think.
It's from Sam, So how'd it go?
You instantly respond, Did you tell him to come here?
Sam answers, I'm not telling you anything until you tell me how it went.
You sit back down, laughing, He's alive isn't he.
You go back to Colby's thread and read what he sent, Again, don't threaten me with a good time.
You roll your eyes, laughing slightly as you lay back down to go to sleep.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON
It's been, radio silence, all day.
Nothing from Sam.
Nothing from Colby, which is actually kind of surprising.
"Hey." Tara calls out, "I'm here. Where are you?"
"Bedroom." You yell from the comfort of your bed, knowing that that's going to get destroyed once the door opens.
"What are you doing in bed still?" Tara asks walking over, "Come on! Time to get ready to par-tay!" She walks over, opening your curtains and you groan, "Five more minutes."
You roll over but Tara climbs onto you, "Hey."
You look up at her, "What."
She tilts her head, "What's going on with you?" You roll your eyes, shaking your head, "Nothing. I just didn't sleep well last night."
"Why?" Tara whines, shaking your shoulders slightly and you groan, letting out a sigh, "If you get off of me, I'll tell you."
She moves off, sitting next to you and she pushes her glasses up onto her nose, "Okay. Spill."
You sit up, "You can't tell anyone. I haven't ever told anyone this before, not even Sam."
"Yeah, okay whatever. Now tell me."
"You know how.. I've always given Colby the cold shoulder?" You look up at her and she laughs, "Yeah, I think it's funny."
"Well, it's.."
"Come on, spit it out. We're losing daylight here. I still need to try on dresses." Tara pushes your leg and word vomit spills from your mouth in a non stop string.
"Colby broke my heart a few years back and I don't think he knows and ever since then I've been holding a grudge against him. I basically made him my enemy so I didn't get close to him again and it's all because I love him and I really don't want to feel the heartache I felt the first time around."
Tara stares at you, blinking as she processes everything you just spat at her.
"I haven't said anything because it just felt... silly? I don't know. He came over last night and all I wanted to do was keep pushing him away but that other part of me wants to tell him but I just.. can't. Do. It."
"Well.." Tara leans back and you know something bad is going to come out of her mouth, "what."
She purses her lips, "I think this is a bad time to t-"
"Just say it."
"Colby has a date tonight."
You feel your heart sink, but anger rises up quickly.
Mainly at yourself, but some towards Colby for the way he made everything feel different in the course of a day.
It feels like a repeat of what happened years ago.
"Oh." You purse your lips, "Hmm."
"I don't think it's anything serious, I-"
You just Tara off, "No. it's okay." You get up, "I'm fine. Just.." you sigh, "Please don't tell anyone. I'm serious."
She holds her hands up, "I promise. But you.." she points to you, "..missy, you need to handle this yourself."
You nod, "Yeah. I'll just.. let the alcohol do the talking." You laugh, grabbing your things for a shower.
.·:*¨ ✘ ¨*:·.
You hear the music growing louder as you walk closer to the club from the car.
Your heart racing harder the more you anticipate seeing Colby with his hands all over his date.
You smile to the bouncer as you walk in, laughing as Tara dances next to you. You greet people, smiling and saying hey as you make your way around.
"Oh there's Sam!" Tara waves her hand at him, and as people in the crowd move, you see Colby standing next to a brunette at the bar.
Your jaw clenches, "Can you get me a drink?" Tara looks at you, "Yeah, what do you want?"
"Whatever, just make it a double." You watch as she walks away and you move into the corner of the club, sitting down on the chair.
It's not long after that Sam walks up to you, "That doesn't look like the happy face of someone who helped me plan this."
You look up at him as he sits on the small table in front of you, giving him a slight laugh, "No I'm happy about this."
"But you're not happy about.."
You tilt your head, "You were right."
A small smirk grows on Sam's lips, "Do you want to clarify exactly, or.." he laughs as you glare at him, "Sam."
"Yeah, I don't know why he's hanging out with her tonight. We both agreed to just come together."
"Really? Tara told me-"
"Here you go, y/n." Tara hands you or drink and you immediately suck half of it down, "Oh god, I needed that."
You look back up at Tara but she's gone, already dancing with people on the dance floor.
Sam reaches out, punching your knee, "Do you wanna go somewhere and talk?" You put your straw between your lips and nod.
You get up, following Sam to a room on the side and he closes the door.
Little do you know, you have Colby's full attention.
"Alright, gimme the tell all." Sam rubs his hands together and you laugh slightly, "A few years ago.. something happened with Colby and it stuck with me."
Sam's face falls slightly, "What happened?"
"I.. liked Colby. A lot. Like, he was my first love, basically. I thought he liked me too, and then he got with-"
Sam cuts you off, "Stella. I remember that." He nods, "Why didn't you say anything?"
"I didn't think I had to." You blurt out, sucking down the rest of your alcohol, "God. Now I'm mad that I'm out of alcohol."
Sam chuckles, "Alright. Let's go get you more and you just .. enjoy the party you helped me plan, okay?"
You take a deep breath, nodding as you look at him, "I'm sorry."
He shakes his head, "It's fine. Come on." He walks over, opening the door and the loudness floods in. You walk out, heading straight for the bar.
The bartender points to you and you lean in, "Can I get a double captain and coke please." He nods and walks away to make it.
You tap the bar as you wait and you feel someone walk up next to you, "What'd ya order?"
"Double captain." You say, eyes glued to the bottles of alcohol on the shelf across from you.
"Going heavy from the start, huh?" Colby asks leaning down, "Are you okay?"
You look at him, "Yeah. I'm great." You force a smile and look away from him, taking your drink and bringing the straw to your lips.
"Slow down, you'll get-"
You cut Colby off, "Don't you have a date to worry about?"
Colby cocks his jaw, "Mm. I see."
"See what?" You snap and before Colby can answer, you feel a hand around your wrist and you're pulled from the bar.
"Come on, tiger. Now's not the time." Tara says looking back at you. You bring your drink up, sucking as much down as you can before you stop.
"Dance. You need to settle." Tara starts to dance and you can't help but laugh, feeling a bit looser from the first drink settling in quickly.
You force yourself to not look at Colby, keeping your distance because your anger wants to lash out.
You were pissed all over again from him being so oblivious the first time around.
You were pissed about him coming over last night, making things feel like they could be alright.
You were pissed you even thought about letting your guard down.
"Another double captain and Coke." You slide your empty glass on the bar and look behind you as you hear the music die down.
Everyone starts to cheer when Sam walks up on to the small stage, followed by Colby.
"Thank you guys so much for being here." Sam starts out, "You know, I want to say a huge thank you to someone who's here tonight. Without her, we couldn't have planned this party like this. Y/n." Sam pauses, looking around, "Where are ya?"
You raise your hand and Sam starts speaking, "There she is. Everyone please give y/n a hand because she's the one who made this party happen."
You smile, looking around and you take your drink as soon as it's sets down on the bar.
The music starts to play loudly again and Sam makes his way through the crowd, "Hey. You doing okay?"
You laugh, "Oh yeah. Feeling much better."
He laughs, "I think you should talk to Colby." You take a deep breath, "I've moved past it." He raises a brow, "Have you?"
You groan, "No."
Sam leans in, "Tara made that girl leave, per Colby's request."
You turn your head, looking at Sam, "Really?"
Sam nods, "Mhm."
You found yourself wanting to kiss Sam, but you knew that wouldn't be a good thing, "Um.." you lean back, "Yeah.. I.."
Sam tilts his head, "What's up?"
You shake your head, "N-nothing. I think.. after this one.. I'm done.." you laugh, looking down at your full glass.
Sam laughs, "I see. Well, whenever you want to talk to Colby, just text me."
You turn towards Sam, placing your hand on his arm, "Can you be there? Just in case things.. get out of hand?"
He nods, "anything for you." He winks and smiles before he walks away.
You turn to the bar, staring down at the dark wood and now there's even more questions.
Why do you suddenly feel attacked to Sam?
Why did you want to kiss him?
"Fuck." You groan lowly, "What the fuck." You push yourself from the bar and walk to find the bathroom.
You walk in, taking a deep breath as the loudness drowns out, giving you a moment to think.
You pull out your phone, clicking on Sam's name. You try to type out a message, but nothing seems to sound right.
Your head starts to spin as more thoughts roll in and you lean against the wall.
The only way you were going to get any answers to the questions you have, is by talking to them.
You unlock your phone, sending a text to Sam, Okay, where do I have to go?
You hold your phone to your chest as you wait for an answer, which doesn't take long, Meet me by the stage.
You put your phone in your purse and pull open the door, walking down the small steps and around to the stage.
As you're looking around, you run into someone and when you look up, you see Sam smiling down at you, "Hey."
You smile forgetting all of your emotions for a split second, "Hey."
But it's all brought back when Sam nods, "Come on, follow me." You follow him past the bar, in through a door that leads you to a small corridor with three doors on either side.
Tumblr media
Sam walks you to the last one, pushing the door open.
You follow him in, the room is lit red and Colby is sitting in a chair, chin rested in his palm, "About time."
"Sorry. I gave her time to be ready." Sam says as he closes the door behind you.
Your eyes stay on Colby and he looks at you, "What's up, Princess?"
You tilt your head, a billion things you want to say first racing through your mind.
You feel hands on your arms, gently rubbing up and down, "Just tell him." Sam whispers, "Tell him everything you told me."
If your heart could beat out of your chest, it would be on the floor right now.
"I'm.. so mad at you." You start, "I'm so fucking, unbelievably mad at you for breaking my heart and not even caring that it stuck with me all these years."
Colby nods, allowing you to continue, "You were my first love, and my first heartbreak. How did you not notice that I was head over heels for you?"
You pause, taking a breath, Sam's hands still on your arms, "I built a wall. Treated you like an enemy all because I fucking love you, but you made me too scared to even want to get close to you again."
Colby stands up, walking over to you, "What do you want, princess."
You lean back into Sam, his head resting on the back of yours, "I-I want.." you look up at Colby, "You."
A smirk grows on his lips and he pulls his lower one between his teeth. He brushes a strand of hair from your face, "Just me?"
You stare at him, kind of nervous to tell him about how you felt about Sam just a little bit ago.
Colby tilts his head, "You sure about that? I seen the way you were looking at him at the bar.." his hand travels up and down your bicep, "The way you're leaning into his touch right now."
You think about pulling away from Sam but you don't want to.
"Why do you think you've always been the only girl in my life?" Sam asks as he rests his chin on your shoulder, "Why do you think I'm always asking you to move out of that small ass apartment and into the spare room at our place?"
"Y-You.." you think for a moment, "You both want me?"
Colby nods, "Why do you think Sam was so persistent on getting you to be okay with me?"
"You talk?" You laugh slightly, "of course you do."
"We want you." Sam whispers, lips brushing against your cheek, "Do you want us?"
You bite your lip, eyes staying on Colby's for a few seconds. He leans in, inches away from your face, "What do you say, princess?"
You reach up, pulling Colby in to close the space. Your tongues dance together in a passionate motion before he leans back, "Atta girl."
"Now that we got that out of the way." Sam spins you towards him, cupping your cheeks before he plants his lips onto yours.
Your hands move to the sides of his neck, pushing your body against his. His hands slide down, gripping your waist, "I can wait my turn." He mumbles leaning back, "I wanna watch you and Colby make up."
He spins you around and Colby lifts you off the ground, your legs finding their way around his hips.
"Is that okay?" Colby asks as he walks over to the long couch.
"Is what okay?" You question and Colby chuckles, "That Sam watches me fuck you?"
You nod quickly, "But what about your party?"
Colby shakes his head and lays you down on the couch, "Fuck the party. We're having more fun in here."
You smirk and tilt your head as his lips connect to your neck, biting and marking up your skin with deep, purple marks.
You let out a moan, fluttering your eyes closed as you feel him grind against you through the thin layer of your panties, "Colby." You whimper, "Please."
He lifts his head, "Please what, princess?"
You grip the collar of his shirt, the one you bought for him, "I need you."
"All in good time, my love." He pecks your lips, reaching back to unhook your leg from around him, "I want to see what you've been withholding from me for all these years."
He grabs your hands, pulling you up so your back is now against the back part of the couch. He moves down to his knees, in between yours and his hands slide up your thighs.
You glance over at Sam who's intently watching the scene unfold.
You bite your lip, smirking slightly as you turn your head to look down at Colby. You lift your hips as his fingers hook in between your skin and the band.
He drags them down and you pull your one leg out, letting them hang off your high heel covered foot.
He lifts your legs onto his shoulder and you scoot down slightly, biting your lip as you anticipate his lips on your clit.
You tilt your head back, letting out a moan as he sucks and flicks his tongue over it, groaning against you as he tilts his head down to lick in between your folds.
"Fuck." Sam whispers off to the side.
You reach your arm out, lifting your head to look at him as your breathing quickens and you grip the cushion with your other hand.
Sam moves over, sitting down next to you. His arm goes over the back of the couch, behind your head and he grips your chin to plant his lips on yours.
He swallows your moans that are caused by Colby, "You look fucking beautiful like this."
You smirk against his lips, sliding one hand to the back of Colby's head and the other into Sam's hair.
You and Sam both look down at Colby.
You grip their hair, pulling as you pull Colby closer with your leg, "Fuck, Fuck, fuck." You arch your back, whimpering out as you feel so, so, so close.
Colby leans back, licking his lips before moving up and leaning against your body. His lips attach to yours and you groan at the taste of your pussy on his lips.
You turn your head, connecting your lips to Sam's and he groans, "Fuck, I can't wait to have my way with you."
You smirk, "Good thing I know where you live." He chuckles, nodding as he leans back. He gets up, returning to the place he was sitting in before you called him over.
"Lay on your stomach for me." Colby mumbles as he kisses your neck. You slide over, rolling onto your stomach and you lock eyes with Sam.
You feel Colby push your dress up to pool around your waist and you hear the clinking of Colby's belt being undone.
You look over your shoulder as Colby straddles your legs. His hands caress your ass and he brings one up to drop it down with a hard smack.
You whimper, dropping your head a little as you wait for him to do it to the other.
And he does, leaving matching handprints.
You gasp, whining out as you move your hips side to side, "Colby."
You feel him lean down, one hand on the back of the couch, the other guiding his cock go where you both want it to be most, "I'm getting there, princess."
You hear him chuckle and you bite down on your lip as you feel his cock glide between your folds and into where you both want him to be most.
You let out a moan, eyes rolling closed as you feel his hand slide up and over your shoulder to wrap his fingers around your neck, "That what you wanted baby?"
You nod slightly, opening your eyes, "Y-yes."
Your eyes meet Sam's, moaning from Colby's strokes of his cock, and everything is coming together, quite quickly actually.
You were cursing yourself, wanting to smack yourself around for not realizing how clear the answer to everything really was.
You were so blocked by the walls you built around yourself, and you were consumed by your own thoughts, you left yourself clueless to what they were trying to do.
It was all because I love them both, you think, smirking because you know that it's okay to.
You feel Colby's head rest against yours, his cock thrusting deep into your core, "mine." He groans lowly, "Ours."
"Yours." You breathe out, "So fucking yours."
"Tell him." Colby says lowly, a moan slipping from his lips, "let him hear you, princess."
Colby's grip tightens on your neck as he pulls your head up to look at Sam. Your eyes lock onto his and he tilts his head, "Tell me, baby."
"I'm yours." You whimper and Colby slides his hand around to grip your hair, pulling harshly, "Louder."
"Yours.. I'm.." you swallow, moaning loudly, "Yours!"
"That's our girl." Colby presses his lips to your temple before leaning up to withdrawal his cock from you, "Come here."
You roll over, sitting up and Colby's lips crash onto yours. His hands pull you onto him so you're straddling him.
His hand holds his cock steady and you sink down onto you, allowing him to swallow your moans.
His hands slide down to grip your ass, groaning as you grind your hips into his, "C-Colby." He slides a hand up, gripping the back of your neck as he presses his lips to yours.
Your hands slide up his chest, digging into his clothed shoulders as you moan against his lips, mind racing about what's in store for when you get back to their place.
I love them both, you think over and over again, they love me.
The thought alone was enough to get you off.
Colby's hands slide up to pull the top of your dress down, exposing your boobs. His hands inch up, gripping and kneading as you bounce up and down.
Your head falls back, moans escaping your lips as you're sucked into an orgasmic state.
Your walls squeeze Colby's cock as you lean forward, body melting into his as your hands tangle within his hair and pull to earn a groan.
His hands tighten on your waist and you feel him twitch inside you. He lets out a slight chuckle, "Sorry."
You relax onto him, letting out a sigh, "It's okay." You laugh slightly, "Nothing is stopping it from doing it again."
He slides his hands up your back, "You're right, well.. I mean there's one thing.. we should probably get back out there, people are probably looking for us."
"Is it bad I kind of forgot about that for a second?" You laugh leaning up to move off of him. You stand up, pulling your panties up and he shrugs, "I'd rather be with you, trust me. We both do."
Sam walks up, his arms sliding around to fix the top of your dress, "So does it all make sense now?" He laughs quietly and you look from him to Colby, "oh yeah. It's all crystal clear now."

Bradley strolled out of work with Nat hot on his heels. "She's picking you up?" she asked, clearly surprised by the turn of events over the past few days. When Bradley saw you leaning against the Bronco in the parking lot, Nat gasped. "You let her drive your Bronco?"
"Yeah, I trust her," he replied, taking off at a faster pace to get to you. The expression on your face had him a little worried, and you looked tired, but he was so happy to see you. Because he'd been anxious all day.
"Hi, Natasha," you called out, waving past Bradley as he scooped you up in a hug. "And hi, Daddy," you whispered, next to his ear as he held you.
"Hi, Baby," he sighed, kissing your glossy lips. "I missed you. Did you have a good day?"
You sucked in a deep breath, but then Nat was there, and the two of you were chatting. But your face was pinched and agitated instead of smooth and perfect, and you were playing with your hands nervously. Bradley let you talk to Nat for a few more minutes, and then he softly kissed the top of your head.
"Don't want to be late to pick Noah up," he told you, and then he gave Nat a hug and took the keys when you held them up for him. "You gonna tell me what's wrong?" he asked as he put the Bronco in gear.
"Why do you think something's wrong?" you asked casually, reaching for his hand.
"I can tell something's bothering you, Princess. But I'm assuming since you just grabbed my hand that you're not upset with me.
There was a brief pause before you said, "I saw Meredith when I went grocery shopping this morning."
Bradley nearly swerved off the road. "This morning? You saw her this morning, and you're just telling me about it now?" he glanced your way briefly. What happened? Did you get hurt?"
"I'm fine, Bradley." You squeezed his hand and pulled it to your lips, pressing a soft kiss to his thumb. "I'm perfectly fine."
"I swear, she's trying to ruin my life," he growled. "Won't leave me alone. Thinks it's okay to go after you. I'm afraid I'm going to fucking lose it in the courtroom when I see her tomorrow."
"Bradley, let's just go home and have a nice dinner, and then we can talk about it in a few hours after Noah is in bed, okay? You need to stay calm."
But that proved impossible. Bradley watched you with his son, just as patient as ever. You alternated between making dinner and coloring with him while Bradley silently panicked. He had no idea how he could give this up. Even looking at Noah right now was painful for him. And when Noah asked him to get all three of the paper crowns, Bradley actually started crying.
"Sure, bub. Come help me find yours." Noah took Bradley by the hand and led him down the hallway to his bedroom.
"It's in here, Daddy," he said, reaching for the yellow crown on his dresser and putting it on his own head before giving the bigger green one to Bradley. "Let's get the purple one for Princess."
Noah climbed up on Bradley's bed, but he still couldn't reach it. Bradley pulled it down and handed it to his son. "Why don't you give it to her, but only if she's not trying to cook dinner, okay?" It was hard to speak with the lump in his throat as Bradley carried his son back into the kitchen. He had his nose buried in Noah's soft hair, inhaling his scent and holding back tears. "I love you," he whispered as Noah handed you the purple crown.
"Oh, are we all matching tonight?" you asked with a soft laugh. But your smile didn't quite reach your eyes as you looked at Bradley.
"Yep!" Noah said as you slipped your crown onto your head.
And then dinner was mostly silent. And if you thought it was strange that Bradley held Noah on his lap the entire time, you didn't say anything. The night was going too quickly. Bradley had spent weeks trying not to think about this day, but now here it was, and it was worse than he could have ever imagined. He could barely stomach the food you made even though it was perfect.
"It's going to be okay," you whispered across the table.
"How do you know that?" he asked in response. "How do you know this isn't the last night I get to do this?" Bradley kissed Noah's cheek and took a deep breath to calm his nerves.
You stayed silent after that, only whispering something sweet to Noah before you said goodnight to him. Then you let Bradley have some privacy to give Noah a bath and get him dressed for bed. He read seven books to Noah, and he was already asleep by the end of the last one. But he stayed on his knees next to the bed, brushing Noah's curls softly back from his forehead and kissing him a million times.
"I love you," he said, tears filling his eyes as he wandered back out into the hallway. You were cleaning up the kitchen, but when he found himself in the doorway, you gathered him into your arms.
"It's hitting you hard, I can tell," you told him, and Bradley didn't care if you saw him crying.
"I just feel like... all of this shit is beyond my control. I can only do my best. But that's still not good enough to ensure I get to raise my son, which is completely fucked up."
You guided him to one of the chairs and then climbed onto his lap. Your voice was so soft, Bradley could barely hear you. "I just don't see how anyone could take him away from you."
"Do you have any idea how often judges side with mothers over fathers? It's so unsettling, I don't even want to think about it right now."
You tightened your grip on him. "Then let's think about something else."
"I still can't believe Meredith was at the grocery store this morning," he groaned, rubbing his face.
You were quiet for a few minutes, and then you looked at him with your pretty face scrunched in frustration. "She said the strangest things to me."
Bradley was on high alert now. "What? What did she say?"
"Well, she made a comment about how your car is worth a lot of money."
"It's a Bronco, Princess. Not a car." He realized this was the first time he'd really smiled in hours, and it felt good.
"Yes, I'm so sorry. She mentioned that your Bronco was worth a lot, and she said she was surprised you let me drive it."
He rolled his eyes. "Just because I never let her touch it doesn't mean you can't. She used to wreck up her little sports cars annually and then buy a new one. Doesn't appreciate the classics like you do." Bradley kissed your shoulder and listened to you sigh. "But I guess it's kind of odd that she said that to you. And honestly, I have no idea how much the Bronco is worth. Maybe like sixty thousand? I try to keep her running nice."
You scoffed at him, and then Bradley could practically see the wheels turning in your head. "I looked it up against your VIN number. In pristine condition, your Bronco is worth almost one hundred and fifty thousand dollars."
"It is?" he asked, completely shocked.
"It is," you confirmed. "You didn't know that?"
"No," he said, shaking his head.
"Meredith also mentioned some life insurance money?" you said a little reluctantly. "In an account for Noah?" He watched your eyes go wide as you quickly added, "I'm not trying to pry, and we don't need to talk about it-"
"From my mom," he replied, kissing you softly to let you know it was okay to talk about it. "I have my mom's huge life insurance payout. I never touched a cent, because it was too depressing. After Noah was born, I decided to save it for him. He can use it for college or for a house or.... I don't know, he can sail a fucking yacht around the world with it or something. But it's for him."
You gasped and said, "Bradley, I think Meredith just wants your money."
-------------------------
You watched him slowly shake his head as you scrambled off his lap and went to go get his computer from where you left it charging in the living room. When you brought it back to the kitchen, Bradley said, "Princess, she makes more money than I do. I just don't see how that could be the case. You should see where she lives in Oceanside. It looks like a mansion."
"No," she replied, opening up the tabs she had saved. "She doesn't live in Oceanside any longer."
"How do you know that?" he asked, wrapping his arms around you as you sat perched on his thigh.
You pulled up some property records you had found when you searched Meredith's name earlier. "She went into foreclosure last year and had to sell. She lives in an apartment in San Diego now."
You looked at Bradley over your shoulder, but he was completely silent now.
"What was the name of her company?" you asked, turning back to the computer.
"Coastal Business Development," he said quietly. And a shiver ran through your body. You had been correct in what you found. But now you kept opening tab after tab as he sat there with you. More new information was popping up left and right. She had tried to hide her name by using an LLC, but Bradley knew enough of the missing pieces to help you put it all together.
"She's bankrupt," you whispered, and he gently pushed your hand out of the way to open one last tab himself. You skimmed the court documents and said, "It sounds like she married her business partner, and he left her high and dry."
"Damn," Bradley gasped, going back through each tab about Meredith's real estate foreclosure, business bankruptcies, and personal interviews. You tried to push the computer away, but Bradley kept going back to the same tab, and now he wouldn't even let you minimize it.
"Don't read it," you whispered, pulling his hand away and turning to look at him.
His eyes were void of emotion now as he looked at you. "She was quoted saying she doesn't have any children."
"She doesn't," you insisted, taking his face in your hands. "Not really. But you do. Noah is your son, Bradley."
He let his forehead come to rest on your shoulder, but a minute later, his phone was ringing in his pocket.
"It's probably Nat," he said, shaking his head. "I can't talk to anyone else right now."
He handed you his phone, but you looked at the name and said, "I think you should answer. It's your lawyer."
"Tracy," he grunted, holding the phone up to his face and closing his eyes. You tried to slip off of his lap after a moment, but he held you in place. And then his tone sounded sharp and angry as he scrambled to put the call on speakerphone. "Can you please repeat that last part?"
You heard Tracy's voice clearly say, "You remember how I told you Meredith was in breach of contract with her lawyer? Well, she never paid the law firm. Not a cent. The firm dropped her at the last minute when her funds never materialized. I just found out today. Do you know if she has any sort of history of financial mishaps?"
"Yes!" you said before you could consider if Bradley wanted Tracy to know you were there with him.
Tracy was quiet for a beat. "Are you at home? I'll come to you."
--------------------------
When Tracy arrived after ten o'clock on Tuesday night, Bradley was practically having a nervous breakdown. The hearing was tomorrow. He and Noah were supposed to be at the courthouse in twelve hours. He felt like he was going to throw up.
But at least you were there, touching his hands and his shoulders and trying to make him feel better. You actually were helping him feel better. And then Tracy was in his kitchen with a huge bag, wearing gym clothes and eyeing you a little suspiciously.
Then she looked at Bradley and said, "Ignoring my legal advice, I see."
He sighed deeply. "Tracy, this is my babysitter turned girlfriend."
"Do not call her that tomorrow in the courtroom under any circumstances!" she said hastily. "Promise me, Bradley! I don't want us to end up looking like a pack of idiots when you point her out as your girlfriend."
"Wait..." you said, eyes wide. "You want me there tomorrow?"
"Yes," Tracy said, unloading folders onto the kitchen table along with her computer and a protein shake. "I already have a call in with the judge to have you added as a character witness. So be prepared to answer questions and give a statement if called upon."
"That's too much to ask," Bradley mumbled looking from Tracy to you. "I can't ask you to do that."
You looked at him like he was very slow and maybe a little naive. "You didn't ask me to. Tracy just told me I was. And I want to. If there's a chance I can do anything that might help, I'm doing it."
Bradley pinched the bridge of his nose and tried not to panic too much as you and he showed Tracy what'd you had found online. "Fucking hell," Tracy muttered, scribbling down notes. "I didn't know this was going to turn into a criminal hearing, but here we are." She scrolled through the property records and matched up tax identification numbers, taking everything a step beyond what you and Bradley had been able to do.
"A criminal hearing?" Bradley asked cautiously, but Tracy seemed to be in her own world now.
"Oh... she's slick," Tracy murmured. "Or she believes she is. You would think she'd have known her lawyer wouldn't fall for this. I wonder if she'll even have a lawyer tomorrow..."
Bradley reached for your hand on the table. "Can we just backtrack a moment? What kind of statement will she need to make?" he asked Tracy as he nodded at you. "And what will Meredith's lawyer be allowed to ask her?"
Tracy looked at his fingers intertwined with yours. "You'll just have to answer my questions honestly, without using the word girlfriend! And then Meredith's legal team is going to think it's open season on you as soon as they see your name was added to the docket. If we can even manage to have you added. So if you can't manage to answer their questions calmly and without crying as they try to shred you to pieces, then I suggest you learn how to overnight."
Bradley wanted to put an end to this entire thing, but you cut him off before he could start talking. "Do you honestly think I'll be helpful?"
"Absolutely. Could be the nail in Meredith's coffin, given all this new information."
"Then I'm in. Seriously Bradley, do not argue with us again," you told him, kissing his cheek while Tracy typed away.
"Okay, I need some coffee. And then let's go over everything from the top," Tracy said, clapping her hands.
----------------------------
It was well after midnight by the time you coaxed Bradley into bed. These last minute revelations were something Tracy insisted were good for Bradley's case, but he was looking extremely apprehensive now. He was raking his fingers through his hair nonstop and pacing around.
"You need to try to sleep," you whispered, pulling him down the hallway. "Let Tracy do what she needs to do, okay? She's going to be in charge tomorrow. She's good at this."
But he stopped short in front of Noah's door and let go of your hand. "You go get ready for bed. I'll be there in a minute." His voice was flat and his Adam's apple bobbed as he swallowed before ducking inside the dark bedroom. You were worried, mostly about him. And about how Noah would do when being questioned by the judge tomorrow. You didn't have time to worry about yourself, so that was at least one good thing you thought of while you brushed your teeth.
You were dressed in one of Bradley's oversized shirts and waiting in bed for a while before he came in. You helped him change out of his clothes, and he climbed into bed next to you. He didn't say anything except, "I love you, Princess," after he pressed a soft kiss to your lips. But he let you pull him into your arms, and pretty soon you were dozing off to the feel of his soft breaths on your forehead and his heart beating beneath your palm.
When you woke to a pitch black room, you could tell he was no longer in bed with you. You found him sitting on the floor in Noah's room, watching his son sleep, and when you walked in, your bare feet silent on the floor, he looked up at you. Even in the dim glow from the nightlight, you could tell he had been crying again. But he didn't ask you to leave. He reached for you.
"You're a good dad," you told him with a soft sob as you climbed onto his lap and wrapped your arms around his neck. "Noah is lucky. And I don't believe they could take him away from you. Away from all this love."
He kissed your cheek, and then he smiled softly as you brushed Noah's curls from his forehead with one hand and Bradley's with the other. "I feel like I can't breathe right," he whispered, and you could feel his pulse racing as you pressed your lips to his neck. "I don't know what I'll do if they take him from me."
"Stop it. They won't."
He was silent again after that, and the two of you ended up sleeping right there on the floor. When you woke up as Noah climbed out of bed just after sunrise, your hip was a little sore, and Bradley was still sleeping.
"Morning, Noah," you whispered, standing and scooping him into your arms. You took him to the kitchen, kissing his chubby cheeks on the way.
"Do you live here now?" he asked, yawning as you turned on the coffee maker.
"No. I don't," you said, hoping he wouldn't say anything like that when he was questioned by the judge in a few hours. "I'm just your babysitter." He just blinked at you before asking for breakfast.
About twenty minutes later, when Bradley walked in rubbing his back, he made a beeline for Noah while you scrambled some eggs and made coffee. Even the mug that said My Other Car Is a Super Hornet didn't make you smile today. You burned your mouth on the coffee, and you nearly knocked the pan onto the floor. Because every time you looked at Bradley, you were on the verge of tears. Maybe you weren't capable of being as strong as you needed to be today. Now the idea of standing up in the courtroom was laughable. You were going to ruin everything.
Bradley was calling your name, and when you snapped out of your daze, he said, "You need to eat, too."
"I can't," you whispered, shaking your head. "I can't." You left them alone and went to take a quick shower, happy you'd packed a variety of clothing when you stopped home the other day. You were supposed to have a mock interview with one of your peers over a FaceTime call today, so you'd packed a blazer and some nice pants. You'd just have to skip the interview. Honestly, school and searching for a job had been the last things on your mind recently anyway.
You let Bradley get Noah ready to go, and when it was time to leave, you looked at him, so handsome in his navy blue suit. "Will you drive? Please?" he asked, holding out the Bronco key for you to take. You simply nodded, but a moment later, you felt tears in your eyes again. He was sitting in the backseat next to Noah. You backed carefully out of his driveway and headed to the center of the city and the courthouse and Meredith and everything else that you wished Bradley and Noah didn't have to see today.
--------------------------
The fact that Tracy was chugging a Red Bull and looked like she hadn't slept at all was only making Bradley feel worse as he carried Noah up the stairs in front of the courthouse.
She rushed toward them and pointed at you. "You're on the docket. Get ready. Meredith supposedly has a lawyer, and I'm sure they've seen the docket update by now."
"Okay," you replied. You were nodding, but you looked as nervous as Bradley felt.
Then Tracy was patting Noah on the head. "Remember me?  I'm Tracy. We're going to do something a little different today, okay Noah? It might seem a little silly at first, because you'll be the only kid here! But you'll be allowed to color when we get inside."
You gasped. "I didn't pack him any coloring books!"
"I have some," Tracy said, patting her briefcase. You immediately looked a little calmer, and Tracy added, "But that's the sign of a good babysitter if you usually pack them."
"She brings me coloring books when she babysits me," Noah told Tracy.
Bradley held Noah a little tighter. "Made sure I got you the best babysitter around, bub."
Just as Tracy cracked open another can of Red Bull that she procured from somewhere, she said, "Time to go in." Bradley didn't stand too close to you, and he didn't touch you. He followed you inside the front doors at a respectable distance, and you seemed to understand what needed to be done today.
When Bradley's eyes settled on Meredith, she was already looking at him. And she was standing next to a tall man in a suit. "Well, would you look at that? She does have a lawyer today," Tracy whispered, crushing the now empty can in her fist and throwing it away before walking over to introduce herself to him.
Bradley had to turn his gaze away from his ex, and he walked a little further away from you. The desire to touch you was strong, but he instinctively wanted to get Noah as far away from Meredith as he possibly could. Bradley's heart was pounding, and a wave of nausea passed through him.
"Daddy, can we go home?" Noah whispered, wrapping his arms around Bradley's neck. "I don't like it here."
Neither did Bradley. He held his son and thought about Carole, and how she never let anything scary happen to him when he was a kid. He thought about losing everything by the time he was a teenager and about the fact that Noah had given him a fresh start. A reason to be happy. And it was because of Noah that he met you. When he glanced over his shoulder, you were watching the two of them with a soft gaze.
"Pretty soon, bub," he replied, squeezing his son and pressing his lips to his forehead. "I'll take you home soon. I hope."

know me the way you know your childhood scars, like breathing; i wasn't running but if i was i'm glad it was to you.
Tumblr media
tz11 x reader: a small town, a fresh start, a shared heart.
(warnings: blasphemous filth, unprotected penetrative sex (m on f), hair pulling, thigh-riding (this is newish), dirty talk (if you're new, welcome!), mentions of previous relationship being awful, i know i'm forgetting stuff but all my typical things. (please be warned, don’t read if you’re not 100% sure.)
(a/n: my favorites - i think jd6 getting traded was exactly what i needed in order to write a tz11 character who is actually a nice guy. i call that the best-friend-getting-a-new-best-friend-who-is-named-cam-york effect. anyways, this is long as hell (14k, anyone?), because i have recently been absolutely so over law school guys. i just want a guy who likes to get his hands dirty and actually has friends. too much to ask? okay. obviously, i got so insanely carried away here, as you will be able to tell. we've got about a million side characters, some of which you will recognize, some of which you will not, because i made them up (tell me why i'm so into the matt/bridget dynamic. could write about just them. maybe i will). you guys know that there will be plot holes and dialogue issues and the likes, but you love me anyways, and i love you for that. tz11 should enjoy this, because i know he will inevitably be back in my bad graces soon enough. next up is someone new (!) because i miss when people used to write about tyson jost left and right. hm, what else? tell me what you think, what you'd like to see. my one year anniversary since my first post is feb. 2 (i actually can't believe how fast it went by, and i'm so grateful for you for sticking with me). so, so much love to you and your snakes. go canucks. until next time.
this was probably a terrible idea, you thought, with your suitcases beside you, your head in your hands at the foot of the bed that would be yours for the foreseeable future. one bed of several at a local inn - local to this town, at least, not local to you.
no, you thought, jittery with unknowing and chance and uncertainty, none of this was familiar to you. not this town in the middle of nowhere, hundreds and hundreds of miles from your hometown, your university. not any of the few people you had interacted with, not the uber driver, the inn keeper, the housekeeping staff.
not one part of this place, this experience, not one part was familiar. but that's what you'd wanted, wasn't it? that was the whole point?
you'd wanted to find yourself, wanted to prove that you could take care of yourself, exist on your own, thrive outside of the bubble that was university.
you wanted a fresh start, away from ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend, their betrayal still fresh, a wound scabbing over on your heart. you wanted to breathe deeply and not worry about who was watching you exhale - a place where nobody knew you, where nobody could whisper about the girl whose boyfriend was cheating on her with her best friend. for three years. she's so stupid, how could she not have noticed?
well, here, you decided, that's what you would get. a humble job as a diner waitress lined up to start tomorrow, a booked room with no check-out date, not a laugh you'd recognize for miles and miles.
this is what you'd wanted, you told yourself, now, loneliness settling in your mouth the way the powder on sour candy does. this is what you have.
completely exhausted from travel and emotional havoc, you passed out that night amidst dreams of fresh starts and trees too tall to see you behind them.
such a lovely image did not last nearly an hour into the next morning, the first day of your new job, just a block or so from the inn you were staying at.
this was part of the reason you had chosen this place for your self-discovery journey, after all - the urgent hiring, competitive wage, amazingly low price for room and board.
you had worked in your university's coffee shop for a year or two to help pay your tuition, so, honestly, how different could it be?
very different, you realized, almost immediately. they were hiring urgently for a reason, which meant there was practically nobody there to train you. one of the line cooks, of all people, just threw you an apron and a name tag to wear over your uniform-compliant black skirt and shirt, mumbled something about a welcome, enunciated something louder about table three needing service.
and so your self-proclaimed new life began completely unceremoniously, with a name-tag that misspelled your name, the smell of waffles and western omelets permeating the air like some grandmother's perfume in an old living room.
at the very least, the business made the time pass quickly, as you paced from table to table, only pausing briefly to introduce yourself to the line, the host, the several curious patrons who asked about you.
"new girl," some impossibly old man husked, "they not have hot coffee where you're from?" he grimaced as he took another sip. "cold as a winter's -"
"okay, that's enough," his companion said, a woman, probably in her mid-twenties, with blonde hair chopped short. she gave you a sympathetic look, like you two were sharing some inside joke. you liked her immediately. "he's had about twelve cups already. don't mind him."
you felt your mouth tick up in a smile for what might have been the first time this morning as you introduced yourself to her, and her father, who you learned everyone affectionately called "old man peters." you learned that the young woman's name was bridget, and she insisted on giving you her number, in case you had any questions, or wanted to get together, or needed anything at all.
your day was already looking up, you thought, as you lifted your sulking ponytail from you back, loose strands curling at the nape of your neck, around your ears. bridget and old man peters bid you goodbye, and then the young host, a boy who stuttered so much over his name that you still didn't quite know what it was, sheepishly alerted you that he had seated a group at the booth in your section.
your flipped to a new page in your notepad as you walked back to the booth, your gaze quickly being tugged up by a drawl-ish voice blurting out "dibs! i call dibs!"
such as exclamation was followed by several groans and one "not fair, you're the only one facing the door."
your brow was slightly scrunched in confusion when you stood at the head of the group's table, four pairs of eyes faced to you in a way that made you feel like a politician about to give a speech.
you cleared your throat, not quite looking anyone in the face. "good morning," you said, "can i get you guys started with some drinks?"
you looked up from your notepad, clicking your pen against the surface of it, taking in the table of - well, you weren't really sure. construction workers, maybe? craftsmen? the four of them had on heavy canvas-like jackets, worn and worked in, highlighter-bright shirts underneath, callused hands that your observant eyes took note of immediately. they were young, too, probably about your age, which made you blush, only a little. these were not the kind of guys you had met in college, the kind who you would have taken a class on freud with, the kind who thought everything with a woman's hand around it was a phallic symbol.
"just coffee," one of them said, short. he tacked on a please when one of his friends smacked him lightly on the back of the head.
you motioned with your pen around the whole table. "for everyone?" you asked, but the question stumbled out of your mouth when your eyes caught on the last of the four, the one on the bench on the right, closest to you.
that sharp face, high cheekbones and cut jaw, should have been so serious, you thought, like some kind of statue, the kind your art history friends would have fawned over in a museum you didn't really want to go to. he should have been so serious, angular like that, but he was anything but. mirth danced in his eyes, so bright they almost sparkled. his full mouth was fixed in a sort of perpetual smirk, so ready to laugh that he was already halfway there. he had the lines around his eyes that told you his full smile would tear you in two.
you were probably staring at him, you realized, flushing deeper as his smirk broke free into something wider, all over his face.
"see, guys," he spoke, that goofy drawl you had noticed on your way over, nothing like the pretentious academics who spoke in circles. he leaned back in the booth. "doesn't matter that i called dibs. she likes me best anyways."
your face scrunched up in some combination of disbelief and hidden delight. "wait," you began, "when i was walking over here, when you said something about dibs," you fixed him with what you hoped was a glare, "you were calling dibs on me?"
he shrugged off his jacket, drawing attention to his wide shoulders, arms thick even through his bright long sleeve. you snapped your gaze back to his eyes, which shimmered, telling you that you'd been caught. "what's the big deal?"
you scoffed, blew a stray curl from your eye line. "you don't call dibs on people," you said.
"yeah, trevor," one of his friends teased, "what's wrong with you?"
"where to begin?" one of the others said, almost lost in thought.
"c'mon, sugar," trevor said, tilting his head, "'s a compliment, yeah?" his gaze rolled down your frame, almost gelatinous, meeting your eyes again reluctantly. "only 'cause you're so pretty, hm?"
you rolled your eyes, fixed your gaze on the one across from him, the one who looked the least engaged. "but, trevor," you whined, stretching out his name like salt-water taffy, "what if i wanted-" you paused, looked down at the blonde just below you.
"matt," he said, practically bored. you nodded your thanks.
"what if i wanted matt?"
his posture grew even more relaxed as he shifted his knees wider under the table. "oh, what if, sugar?" he mused, his eyes so expressive, never off of you for a moment.
"she's gonna spit in your coffee," matt said.
"how about we cut out the middle man and she just spits in my mouth?" he chirped, smirk so telling it made you flush pink.
you mumbled something about decorum before walking away in a flurry of annoyance and excitement. you couldn't really tell the difference, you realized, as you gave the poor host a pot of coffee and asked him kindly to drop it off at the back booth.
you were not something to be called dibs on, that was for sure, and you were here to find yourself, not anyone else, certainly not some guy. even if some guy had soft-looking hair and a witty mouth. even then.
you took a stabilizing breath and got back to work, noting that the back booth only got coffee, only stayed for about twenty minutes before making to leave, heavy jackets loud as they shrugged them back on.
three of the guys called out their thanks and headed out, leaving only a standing trevor there when you approached to settle their bill. thumbing through his wallet, he grinned down at you when you finally stood in front of him again.
he was taller than you thought, you realized, as he now stood at full height. you had to crane your neck slightly to look him fully in the face.
"thought you'd be shorter," you said, honestly, hoping to knock him down a peg, however mean that might have been. but of course he only smirked.
"get that a lot," he drawled, selecting a bill, putting his wallet back in his pocket with hands you had to force yourself not to stare at. "been told 've got the personality of a short guy in the body of a tall one."
you shook your head. of course someone had told him that.
you couldn't really ruminate on that, though, as he stuck the twenty in the front pocket of your apron, as well as something with a slight weight to it, urging an angry pink to the tops of your ears, the feeling of his wide hand warm, so close to you.
you peered up at him, sucked on your teeth as he pulled out his hand slowly, that ever-present smirk almost faltering at your gaze.
"thanks for the service, sugar," he said, and you probably imagined the way the end of his words sounded strained. "see you around, yeah?"
you didn't break eye contact, only let yourself smile back at him before turning and getting back to work, letting the push and pull of waitressing lull you into a rhythm during which it was practically impossible to think too heavily about bright eyes and broad shoulders.
by the end of your shift, you had been officially tired out. you were sure your hair reeked of coffee, and your ankles ached from standing all day.
going to empty your apron, however, right before you left, your hand settled on the bill from earlier, but also several wrapped butterscotch candies. your face contorted as you stared at them, wondering why trevor had put them there.
exhaustion won over curiosity though, as you thanked everyone for your first day and walked the short block back to the inn.
this won't be that bad, you were thinking to yourself as you walked up the stairs. you already had the phone number of a maybe-friend, after all, and as far as jobs went, this one could be a lot worse. good money, good way to meet new people, maybe even something pretty to look at -
as if summoned by your thoughts, when you turned out of the staircase to your hallway, there trevor was, standing on a ladder, looking into the ceiling, some box of tools on the floor.
you narrowed your eyes, bag suddenly feeling heavy on your shoulder. the presence of a new figure drew his gaze to you, and you had to scold your heart, the way it beat like a teenager at the way he looked at you, then. you didn't know him, after all, and you weren't here for anything romantic.
"you followin' me, sugar?" he asked, stepped down from the ladder, making his way over to you. his voice was slow and tired, from whatever he had done that day. you were shocked at the fact that you wanted to know what that was. his gaze shone as he gently took your bag from your shoulder and slugged it onto his own, fell into step beside you. you let him. "tell me you're following me."
you rolled your eyes, but the small smile on your face wasn't going anywhere. "this is where i'm staying," you explained, "so, if anything, you're following me."
you stopped in front of your door, leaned back against it, suddenly in no rush to lock yourself behind it, alone. not when he was on this side of the door, looking like this.
almost weary with hard work, but not weary enough to sour him, just enough to make his movements and expressions slightly slower, lazier, more indulgent, like they were drenched in chocolate ganache. not when he was here, looking at you like this, like you were the most interesting thing he'd ever seen.
after years at some preppy, pretentious university, at which ingenuity was the most valuable currency, one you felt you lacked so disgustingly, was it really too surprising that you softened under his gaze? that you wanted to stay in it, just a little bit longer?
"sugar?" he asked, head tilted, and you realized he had been talking.
"sorry, what?" you asked, your voice soft like sponge cake, willing your eyes to focus, your mind to focus harder.
he didn't tease you too badly, though, only let his smile grow sharper with a smirk. "i said that 'm sorry if i hurt your feelings with the dibs stuff," he said, and you were almost confused at his apology. you weren't even upset, and when was the last time someone had apologized to you so quickly after doing something?
your memory cut hazily to your ex, somehow trying to convince you it had been your fault that he cheated on you, that it was something you were lacking that had inevitably led him to do that. you practically shivered, then internally scolded yourself for comparing trevor, whom you had met today, you reminded yourself, to your ex-boyfriend.
"'s fine," you said, waving him off, your back softening further into the door. "didn't really hurt my feelings."
his eyes flashed. "didn't really or didn't, sugar?" he asked, searching your face.
you swallowed, acutely aware of his attention, how it slid down your nose, your cheeks, your jaw, slow and thick as sludge. "didn't."
he gave a nod. "'m sorry anyway," he said, and it came out low. "if you really want to go for matt, i won't stop you."
and part of you wanted to blurt out i don't want matt!
but it was your first day in this place, and honestly, you were still kind of hung up on his apology, and the way it sounded from his chapped lips, and you knew to correct him would be exactly what he wanted.
so you just said "thank you," and were shocked at how gentle it sounded.
"jesus christ, distracted, are we, trev?" the voice of the young inn-keeper called from the end of the hallway. he seemed awfully chipper as he approached, hands in his pockets. "i came up to check on your progress," he said, "or lack thereof, i guess." he looked between the two of you. "now i see who's stolen your attention."
"i'm on my legally-required fifteen minute break," trevor said, half-smiling, turning back to you. "sugar, you know my brother, griff?"
you nodded, suddenly clocking the subtle ways their appearances drew from each other. trevor was taller, griff had a wider face, bigger features. but they had the same eyes, same strong nose, mirroring grins. "he owns my room," you said, dumbly, tiredly.
griff only smiled. "she's had a long day, trev, leave her be."
trevor searched your face again, seemed to find all the proof he needed - your heavy eyelids, drooping shoulders. he gently handed your bag back to you. "i'll see you tomorrow, sugar," he said, as soft as you'd heard him. so soft it startled you. "sweet dreams."
"goodnight," you said to both of them, shutting the door behind you. sleep came easily that night, again, with dreams less so of hiding behind trees and more so of rough hands and laughing eyes.
you were surprised, pleasantly so, at how quickly you fell into a routine in your new home. surprised at how quickly you let yourself call this place that.
maybe it was the way that bridget wasn't just being polite when she had given you her phone number, as she had quickly set up dates to show you all her favorite hiking spots around. your weekly hikes with her became a highlight as she told you more about the town, about her young daughter, about book club, about anything and everything. she was so kind with you that you found yourself so comfortable confiding in her. it felt so easy calling her a friend.
maybe it was the way the town seemed to accept you as one of their own so quickly and genuinely. the line cooks flirted with you in the way only line cooks do (in ways that would not be acceptable outside of a kitchen). they made you food to take home, kept you from starving. the host, harry, began to trust you enough that he asked for your help on homework. the regulars began to recognize you, know your name, ask how you were doing. griff checked in on you, asked if anything was wrong with the room, said you should feel free to use his kitchen anytime (as your room was the simplest kind, and didn't have any cooking appliances). you began to know the names of the streets, the stores, the store owners. your fresh start was starting to feel like just that - a start.
or maybe it was that same group of guys who came in every morning, at the same time, who ordered only coffee and then left in a flush of waves and heavy jackets and called-out salutations. you learned that the one with the curly hair, alex, was the quietest, probably the smartest. his closest friend, cole, was the shorter one, who had the loudest laugh. and matt was warming up to you, you thought. the more you made fun of trevor, the more he seemed to like you.
it was that same group, every day, who came in loudly and left louder, who had paint and dirt smudged on their shirts, their hands. who drank coffee like it was water. who laughed like it was easy as breathing, and maybe that was how it was supposed to be.
and, of course, there was trevor, who, the more you got to know him, the more trouble he became. every day, his "good morning, sugar," would reverberate through your chest, and you would drop a pot of coffee at their table, ask how they were doing, listen for their answers.
some comments about how old man peters' roof is caving in, and he should have told them about it probably a year ago, or about how the police chief's plumbing is fucked, or about how they were going over to fix bridget's sink that day. and, if it was the last one, matt would flush, which would make your eyes widen, would make you pepper him with questions about his crush.
and then, at some point during their morning break, trevor would ask something about you, about how you were, about the way you were wearing your hair, the shoes you were wearing, the book you had been reading the week before. and then, as he left, without fail, he would slip a bill and several butterscotch candies into your apron pocket, each time his hand growing heavier, more significant as it settled so close to you.
it didn't particularly help your small crush that you saw him everywhere. he was always fixing something - in the diner, at the inn, in the park downtown. you couldn't escape him and his deft hands, his working mind, his strong frame and easy laugh and addictive smile.
he was everywhere, so of course he would be here, at the grocery store, after your shift one day. you were roaming the isles, looking for a specific kind of vinegar, your basket hoisted up onto your hip, when a low whistle made you turn. you were met with that lazy smirk, your favorite one of his, the nighttime one, the tired one. he approached you, his work boots heavy on the ground.
"you followin' me, trevor?" you asked, repeating what become something of an inside joke between the two of you.
"maybe," he said, looking down at you, shimmering eyes framed by long lashes. "do you want me to be following you, sugar?"
you hummed, noncommittal, some harmony between the fluorescent lights above, the whir of the fridges the next isle over. you turned back to the shelving, resumed your survey of the contents. "your brother offered his kitchen for me to use while he's out tonight," you said, not looking at him.
"did he?" trevor mused, an almost undetectable bite in his tone.
you nodded, eyes alight with excitement. "been eating pancakes and chicken noodle soup for weeks now," you said, referring to what the line cooks sent you home with. "swear my mouth's watering just thinking about something different." you ran a thumb along your bottom lip, as if checking for spit.
if you had been looking at trevor, you would have see his shallow swallow, the way his eyes tracked your movement, how his gaze hung from your mouth like lacy ribbon. he cleared his throat.
you finally located the vinegar you wanted, on the very top shelf. pushing yourself up on your tiptoes, you reached the tips of your fingers for the bottle, only just out of reach.
trevor only chuckled as he grabbed the bottle easily, took the basket from your hip and into his own hand, dropping the vinegar into it.
"i can carry that, you know," you said, suddenly wishing you had something to do with your hands.
"i know," he said, smug.
you rolled your eyes, huffed a thank you, anyways.
"so, what're you making?" he asked as you led him from aisle to aisle, loading your basket with ingredients.
you explained to him how, in college, this one salad had been your absolute favorite to make when you needed something that made you feel good. something about the combination of arugula, kale, chickpeas, sweet potato, whatever other vegetables you had on hand, sometimes chicken, if you were feeling fancy, something about the simple dressing of oil and vinegar - it was perfect. no meal left you feeling as good as this one did.
and it was how you had made it entirely on your own, too - it wasn't some fancy steak dinner your ex had buttered you up with after a fight, it wasn't boxed brownies shared with your old best friend the night before you found out - no, this was all you.
when you looked back at trevor, there was something molten in his gaze. "sounds amazing," he said, low, like he didn't want anyone else to hear.
you tilted your head, let your smile slant across you face, scrunched up your nose, teasing. "would you want to join me for dinner, trevor?"
his face split into a grin. "i would," he said, "i would want to, please."
and so you found yourself fumbling around someone else's kitchen with an audience, washing kale and peeling sweet potatoes with fingers that twitched towards the figure across the counter, practically irritated that they weren't touching him.
you scolded your hands to behave, which became easier as the night went on, as conversation flowed like cranberry juice, the flavor of it lingering in your mouth just the same.
he might ask you about how the diner was going, to which you would look around as if to make sure no one was there. his eyes would flash. you would miss this.
"harry's been making some real progress in precalc," you would say from behind your hand, speaking of the host, whom you had come to view very fondly. "and you didn't hear it from me, but i think he's going to ask his friend jason to the school dance next weekend."
you would be flushed with excitement and pride, and trevor wouldn't be able to get much beyond that, honestly, the way it lit you up from the inside out.
but then he would clear his throat, and lean forward on his hands, and tell you that if harry needed help asking jason to the dance, he knew exactly the best crew for the job.
"don't tell me you're talking about your rag-tag group of misfits," you would say, cocking a brow as you dressed the kale and arugula.
and he would feign offense, place a broad hand over his heart. "i'll have you know that this group of misfits went 16/16 in high school dance invitations," he would say. "all four of us, all four years."
you might roll your eyes. "real band of heartbreakers, were you?" you would say.
and laughter would shine behind his eyes like christmas tree lights behind store windows, and he would stretch his arms above his head, lazily, comfortably. "'course not," he would say, his voice the sort of raspy that comes with stretching, "only alex."
and this would pull a real laugh from you, as you tossed everything together, the kind of laugh that rung in his ears, that made him pleasantly dizzy.
as the night passed on, time moving altogether too fast and the kind of slow that oozes, you would learn about how he grew up in this town, how he went to trade school, how he had had the same friends his entire life. you would ask questions about if he ever felt the desire to leave (not really), how he got into manual labor (he never really felt like he was that good at anything else), what his family was like (close, but not overbearingly so).
and, in turn, between bites and sips and laughs, you would tell him about how you grew up (humbly), what school was like (hard, but rewarding), how you ended up here (cheap housing, good job, close community). and maybe you would actually tell him about the ultimate betrayal you had faced before you left, why that made you want to be somewhere, anywhere else, somewhere where you had no choice but to make a life entirely for yourself.
at the mention of your ex his jaw might clench, his mouth twitching ever so slightly. he would mutter something about nonsense, and you would smile.
he would ask questions about your family (just your dad and you), your favorite parts of your life here (hikes with bridget, homework sessions with harry, bickering with old man peters).
and he would pout, at that, his bottom lip looking so positively delicious it stole your breath. "'m not your favorite, sugar?" he would plead, joking.
maybe you would really look in his eyes, then, find something hot, tilt your head. "you wanna be?" you would ask, breathier than you intended.
and he would smirk, somehow flipping the dynamic on its head entirely with only a single expression. "you know i do, sugar," he would tell you, low and so loaded you would blush.
it might scare you how easily you let him in, how quickly you were warming up to him. his pretty face might scare you, because pretty faces had hurt you before. there had been no one prettier than your old best friend, after all, and look how that turned out.
so, when the night grew viscous, and the meal was long over, the dishes done, a portion for griff packed up in tubberware on the counter, when he walked you upstairs to your room, both of your steps slow, reluctant, when his gaze lingered on your lips and the smell of him grew distracting, the height of him all-consuming, even then, even though you wanted to, you didn't kiss him. you only bid him a gentle goodnight.
"thank you for tonight," he would say, instead, looping his arms around your neck, hugging you close to his chest. this was so much worse, you thought, as you breathed him in, wrapped your own arms around him and squeezed. the way he held you like he was afraid what would happen if he let go. his hair so messy and his tone so genuine it almost hurt. "sweet dreams, sugar," he said into your hair before pulling away.
even though, that night, you might have dreamed about how his rough hands might feel as they held your soft cheek, how his chapped lips might slot against your glossed mouth. even if you woke up, that next morning, practically sweating. not the sweetest of dreams.
today was your day off. you had plans later with bridget, but you decided to book a haircut and blowout at the salon downtown, since you had the whole morning to yourself. the salon was one place you hadn't been in, yet, and you hadn't had a haircut in months, so you figured now was a good a time as any.
the bell above the door rang when you stepped inside, but no one seemed to notice over the shrill thrum of hair dryers, sinks, and the steady stream of gossip that you appeared to have walked in on.
"she told me her trevor went on a date, julia," one of the stylists said seriously, her eyes expressive as she sectioned her client's head of long curls. "won't stop rambling on and on about her, she says."
your heart jumped in your chest at trevor's name, sunk accordingly. he had been on a date? you weren't sure why you had assumed you were the only girl in his life at the moment, but it stung, nonetheless. you pulled at a thread on your long sleeve, eyes down.
you can't be upset, you told yourself, don't you dare be disappointed-
"oh, honey, how long you been waiting?" one of the stylists called out, making her way over to you and the front desk. "swear you have to throw somethin' at one of us when you come in or we'll never stop talking." she had such an easy way of speaking, a comfortable posture, a genuine face.
"sorry," you said, looking around, still recovering from what you'd overhead.
she just waved you off with a smile. "it's us motormouths who should be apologizing," she said before introducing herself as ginger. "now, what name is your appointment under?"
you told ginger your name, and as soon as you did, her eyes sailed up to meet yours again, wide and bright. she snapped her fingers, getting the room's attention. "you're the doll who stole our baby trevor's heart!"
you blushed furiously, felt the words in your mouth twist and tangle like a toddler's hair. "me? no, that can't be right," you said. there's no way last night counted as a date, you thought. there's no way he's talking about me.
the other stylist just squealed as you were led to a chair. "of course it's you! look at her, julia," she said to the woman in her chair, practically elated, "what a treasure!"
your blush wasn't going anywhere any time soon.
"that boy's been talkin' to 's mama 'bout you, honey," julia said from her chair, her expression knowing. "he's just about smitten, she says."
"and a mother always knows," ginger said, emphasizing her words with hairbrush gestures.
so you spent your appointment getting a couple inches off, hearing about the trouble trevor used to get in when he was younger (apparently alex used to be the biggest troublemaker, though), hearing about how trevor just went around fixing whatever anyone needed fixing.
"swear that sweet boy wouldn't charge a dime if this town'd let him," ginger said as she worked long layers into your hair, "we have to sneak payment into his pockets, and even then he tries to give it back!"
your cheeks burned, your heart heavy with affection as she blew out your hair, leaving it soft and smooth. you paid, said goodbye for about ten minutes, found out just how hard it was to escape salon conversation.
"now go show off for our baby, honey!" someone called out the door after you, making you laugh. you guessed that all the stereotypes about small town hair salons were true.
you went on your weekly hike with bridget, who gave you that understated grin when she saw you. "looking good," she said, bumping her shoulder into yours. "trev doesn't stand a chance."
you rolled your eyes. "didn't get my hair cut for him."
she laughed. "i know," she responded, "but all anyone can talk about this morning is your date last night."
you couldn't help but scoff good-naturedly. "i can't believe people already know about this," you said, "it was literally last night, and it wasn't even a date."
she waved you off. "nobody cares about the logistics. even my girl was moping to me about it. she's got a little crush on her skating instructor."
"trevor teaches your daughter how to skate?" you asked, having never heard of this.
she nodded. "he's the highlight of her week," she said, her eyes soft, picturing her daughter's unabashed smile.
"get in line," you mumbled, covering your face with your hands.
why was everyone so intent on revealing adorable information about trevor to you today? didn't they know he already took up enough of your daily headspace?
"can't somebody tell me he hates animals, or something? or that he's really pretentious about art? or that he has, like, some weird fetish?"
bridget laughed. "sorry, babe," she said, "he's the town's sweetheart."
you were still reeling with all of this information when you got back to the inn, your face rosy from the outside chill, your body pleasantly awake from your walk.
you began up the stairs, humming to yourself, ready to collapse onto your bed, maybe catch up on some reading.
"you followin' me, sugar?"
you looked up, immediately, feeling your pulse in your neck, in your teeth.
there he was, of course, there he was, painting the railing in the stairwell, the sharp smell of paint faint in the air.
all dirtied up from the day, that slouch that only appeared in the late afternoon, that crinkly smile, all of it made him almost too good to be real.
"maybe," you said, like second nature now, after all those times before, his face forcing a tiny smile from your mouth.
you stood just in front of him now, held your breath as he reached up, twirled a strand of your hair around a finger. he let out a low whistle you felt in your stomach.
"lookin' awful pretty tonight," he said, not much more than a whisper as he thumbed the soft ends of your freshly-cut hair.
his words settled like thick caramel on your tongue. "thank you," you mustered, your mind spinning with all of the wonderful things you had heard about him, today.
he bent down to one knee in front of you as you collected your thoughts. "um, what are you doing?" you said, strained, dumb.
he looked up at you through those girlish lashes, smirk heavy on his perfect face. he tugged your foot closer to him. "shoe's untied," he said, gesturing to your sneaker. "may i?"
you blinked at him before nodding, because what alternate universe was this? you tried to imagine any other man you'd known willingly getting on the floor for you, just to tie your shoe. you couldn't.
he tightened your laces with nimble hands.
you cleared your throat. "heard something funny today from the ladies at the salon," you told him, trying to focus on something other than his proximity.
he hummed. "nothin' good, i'll bet," he mused, "ginger loves a good story."
"it was a good story," you said, reveled in the way his expression softened, giving you the courage to press on. he began to tie a double knot. "'bout how you're tellin' your mom we went on a date."
he pulled the bow tight, looked up a you for a second, a guilty, childish grin on his face, caught red-handed. you extended a hand to him, helped him back to his feet.
"oh, yeah," he said smugly, folding his arms across his chest, leaning back against the wall, easy, comfortable. "like how you asked me to dinner, and then cooked for me, and how it 100% was a date-"
you laughed, shook your head. "it was not!" you said, "i never said it was a date!"
he ran his tongue along the inside of his cheek. "call it wishful thinking, then, sugar."
and you couldn't focus too much on what he meant by that, so you just shook your head again. "you're too much," you said, wanting it to come out teasing, but instead there was a breathy sort of desperation behind it.
"yeah?" he asked, that smirk present as ever. you had grown so close to him without realizing it, now just a step away. him leaning back against the wall, you right in front of him, looking up at him.
you nodded, swallowed, your blood hot, your skin prickly, alive.
his eyes fixed you in place, teasing. "too much for you, sugar? can't take it?"
you bit your lip to stop any sound from escaping you, because everything seemed entirely too loud, then. you could hear your heartbeat, you swore you could hear his, the radiator could have been screaming at you. you didn't dare think about just how much you wanted to take.
to stop yourself from doing something much more serious, you simply reached your hand forward, swiped at a spot of paint on his face with your thumb.
your touch against his brow bone felt like an exhale, like melting wax. you could feel his warm breath on your hand as you pulled it back, but then he was looking at you, like that, like you were so, so special, like he would have doused his face in paint just to have your hands wipe it all away, and were you imagining the way his gaze grew fiery?
"trev! old man peters says his sink's still leaking!"
griff's voice rattled down the stairwell, smothering the flames in your eyes, if only just. just enough to break the spell, to pull away, to tell him you'd see him tomorrow for his coffee break, for his hungry gaze to follow you up the stairs until you were out of sight.
and so the routine continued, more butterscotch candies slipped into aprons, more pestering his friends, more slyly asking bridget what she thought about matt (she was deflecting, you'd observed, delighted). more helping with homework and reading in bed and cooking and snapping at old man peters to stop leaving his watch behind.
more stolen touches and longing glances and sideways smiles, backwards hats and work gloves stuffed in pockets, damp hair sticking to your neck, the hem of your skirt brushing against your thigh. more flame and softness and sweetness drenching your frame as he said hello, and goodbye, and sweet dreams, and anything else. that coil inside of you twisted tighter and tighter as you wondered what exactly was holding you back, what exactly you were waiting for.
one day, after work, there was a knock at your door. you'd be lying if you said you weren't a little bit disappointed when you opened it.
"you coming?" griff said, "town hall meeting starts in 5."
you scrunched up your nose. "town hall? what, is it required?"
he smiled, kind. "no, but they're usually a good time," he said, "and trevor's going to be there."
you had your jacket in your hand already. "he's not the reason i'm coming," you said, following him out the door and down the street.
"i won't tell anyone," was all griff replied, his smile understanding and gentle.
you had never been to a town hall meeting before. you'd guessed that the closest thing you could imagine was a student government meeting, which you'd been a part of in college.
this seemed much more laid back, though, taking place in the middle school gymnasium. it looked like almost everyone from town was here. you noticed old man peters, sitting with bridget, her daughter buzzing around from person to person. the salon ladies were talking to pretty much everybody. there was harry, sitting next to his mom. you approached bridget as griff went up to talk to the fire chief, one of his close friends.
soon enough, the meeting began, the first issue on the docket being the prospect of a stoplight on the intersection of drysdale avenue and york street.
bridget yawned, "same issue every meeting," she whispered to you. "always divided down the middle." this time was no different, you observed, the parents in the crowd seemed completely for the stoplight, the older crowd significantly against.
"next issue, a write in from the community, quote," the representative began, reading from notecards, "should the implementation of the 'dibs' rule be observed seriously, unquote." he cleared his throat, looked up to the crowd. "thoughts?"
you stifled an embarrassed laugh, held your face in your hands as bridget rubbed soothing circles in your back. "is this actually a real-life discussion topic?" you asked, incredulous.
"just let them have their fun," she whispered in a way that made her smile evident.
"i think 'dibs' is outdated and juvenile," a woman said, "sets a bad example for the kids."
the man up front was taking notes.
"i think it's cute," bridget piped up from her chair.
"me, too!" her daughter giggled, jumping into her lap.
"alright, i've got two for cute, one for bad influence," the man said, "anyone else?"
"i think it's lame," a very matt-like voice said, gruff, short.
"one for lame," the scribe said aloud.
"well, i think you're lame," that goofy drawl called out, making you pull your head up, look around until you spotted him, near the front. he was swatting matt on the back of the head. "and i learned it from alex, so take it up with him."
his curly-haired friend hid a smirk. "it's a high school move," he explained to the crowd, before turning to face trevor. "we haven't done it in years."
"until now," trevor amended, "but you guys understand. you've seen her. you've talked to her."
ginger put her hand over her heart as if swooning.
someone coughed. your face was burning up. bridget nudged you gently.
"she's here, trev," griff said, to which the fire chief let out a hearty laugh.
"really?" he turned to face the crowd, his voice excited, hopeful, searching. "where are you, sugar?"
you raised your hand, of all things, immediately wanted to smack yourself. "hey," you said, mousy.
"hey," he parroted, mocking, but of course not maliciously. his smile broke you apart.
and then you were having a conversation with several rows of people in chairs between you, on a gymnasium floor.
"you're the only one with the dibs curse on you," he said, "so what's your take on it? should we abolish the practice for good? is it outdated?"
you swallowed, were looking only at him as the scribe sat at the front, pen at the ready. "well," you began, "it works, from what i can tell." his smile put you together again. "so it can't be that outdated."
his eyes shone, only for you. "you heard her," he said, "case closed."
"are we actually still talking about this?" old man peters asked, to bridget, but much too loudly.
the rest of the meeting passed, absolutely delivering on laughs and nonsense, as promised.
"last thing before we go," the man said, "does everyone have a ride to the away game tomorrow?"
you leaned over to bridget. "what's that?"
"the rec hockey team is away this weekend," she whispered.
"rec hockey?" you said, confused, "like kids?"
she shook her head. "like kids, yes, but not kids."
"sugar, do you have a ride?" trevor's voice rang clear against the mumbled chatter of the room.
you looked up, met his eyes again. "uh, i don't think i'm going?" you said.
there was a collective gasp, followed by silence. your eyes widened. "babe," bridget whisper-screamed at you. "everyone goes."
you cleared your throat, realizing your grave error. "well, then i don't have a ride."
"you can ride with me, honey," ginger said, sweetly, with a warning in her eye.
"trevor has to go super early since he's playing," bridget whispered from next to you. you nodded, signaling that you had heard her.
"thank you!" you called out.
rides were sorted, the meeting ended, everyone saying their goodbyes, folding chairs scraping against the waxy floor. trevor and his friends caught up with you and bridget on your way out.
trevor slung a heavy arm around your shoulders that you couldn't help but lean into. he smelled like sawdust and something citrusy. "i didn't know you played hockey," you said, looking up at him curiously, not letting yourself ruminate on how good he felt slotted against your side.
he shrugged.
bridget scoffed. "he's good, too," she said, "i hate to pump his tires, but only the best teacher for my baby girl." she pressed a kiss to the cheek of her smiley daughter, whom she had hoisted up onto her hip. "all of them play," she said, a vague gesture to the group. "lit it up in high school."
"not all of them are as good, though," trevor said, which caused some annoyed groans.
"what about heartbreaker alex, over here?" you teased.
"heartbreaker alex has grown up since junior year," alex said, soft spoken. "and it's not my fault my hair looks like this."
the shortest friend of the group, cole, the one with the loudest laugh, whom you had come to rely upon for book recommendations, put a hand in line with his brow bone, as if blocking out the sun to search for something.
"what are you doing?" alex asked.
"oh, me?" cole said, "just looking for all the girls you must be getting, since you've still got all that hair."
alex rolled his eyes, the group laughed.
"what about you, matt?" you asked as trevor held open the door, all of you stepping out into the night air. "i've heard the team's got a perfect record for dance invites. any high school stories?"
matt didn't say anything for a second, but bridget laughed. "you're really telling people that, trev, as if i didn't ask him freshman year?" she nodded towards matt, who was actually blushing, you thought, but the dark made it hard to tell. "was a tough sell, eh? he was so quiet when i asked i thought he pretending that i wasn't there."
"oh, we remember," cole said, tone alight with understanding. "funny how we grow up, but so much stays the sa-" he blew out a breath when matt elbowed him in the gut.
you smiled to yourself. "i'll see all of you tomorrow, for the game, then?" you said, the inn now steps away.
goodbyes rang out, and you made to remove yourself from trevor's embrace, but he only spun you back into his chest, pulling you close, his arms now wrapped around your back, your nose against his breastbone. you breathed in, melted into him, squeezed him back.
"did you mean it?" he said, soft, so only you would hear him.
you mumbled your confusion into his chest.
"when you said it was working? did you mean it?"
your heart jumped, his words so vulnerable you couldn't look at him. "i meant it," you whispered into his bright shirt. "you're working on me, trevor." you felt his lips brush against your hair, featherlight, before he let you go.
"sweet dreams, sugar," he said, and you walked back to your room with wobbly legs and an overactive heart.
the following day, ginger graciously gave you a ride to the next town over. she, of course, chatted you up the entire time, which you welcomed.
"i know i must be super late to the party here," you said, carefully, picking at your nails, "but what's the story behind bridget and matt?"
ginger tsked. "we're a bad influence on you, honey," she said, taking a right. "you're gonna be a big mouth like me in no time."
you laughed. "it's only 'cause matt's so obvious about it," you told her, "they've known each other forever, and i learned yesterday that she asked him to their freshman dance." you trailed off, hoping that ginger would take your cue.
she nodded, smiled fondly. "our bridget was always such a spitfire," she said, "always going for what she wanted. smart as a whip, too, but you know that."
you nodded. you did.
"and she could have had anyone, but she wanted our matthew, and he wasn't a sight for sore eyes then, like he is now."
is matt good-looking? you'd thought to yourself. you surely hadn't noticed. perhaps you were distracted. perhaps your gaze always wandered.
"but bridget marched right up, asked him to the dance, and the poor boy was so stunned it took him a full minute to say yes." she shook her head, lost in the memory.
"did they ever date, like for real?" you asked, enraptured.
she frowned. "no, i don't think so, at least. bridget was always bouncing around flings, trying out guys for a few weeks, then cuttin' 'em loose." her smile grew wistful. "then she had her darling girl, middle of senior year. dad booked it, never looked back. don't think she's been with anyone since."
you frowned, too, hating the thought of someone abandoning your friend, as lovely and wonderful as she was. what a privilege it would be to be a part of her family.
"and matt?" you asked, as the car pulled into the parking lot. you ran your palms up and down your jeans.
ginger whistled. "that boy's been starry-eyed over her since grade five," she said, "but me and the girls aren't surprised he thinks he doesn't have a shot. his self-esteem's never been the highest, not like the rest of 'em."
"not like cole, who swears he could land a plane, if it came around to it?" you said, grinning.
ginger laughed. "exactly. and not like alex, who was never without a girlfriend, and not like your trevor, who's never needed anyone to tell him how great he is."
you sucked on your teeth. "but we do, anyways," you reminded her.
"that we do, honey," she finished, putting the car in park. "let's go cheer on those knuckleheads, shall we?"
the rink was colder than you thought it would be. the walls were practically made of aluminum foil. you wrapped your arms around yourself, blew out a foggy breath, followed ginger to the away section, absolutely packed with everyone you recognized.
as you settled into the stands, your eyes immediately searched for trevor.
"he's number 11," bridget said, coming to stand next to you.
you rolled your eyes. "and what number is matt?"
she shoved you, playfully, but when spoke, it was bashful. "12," she said. "cole's 22 and alex is 39. police chief is 8, fireman spence is the goalie, and griff is the ref."
you furrowed your brow. "isn't that a conflict of interest?" you asked.
she huffed in a laugh. "if anything, it's a disadvantage for us."
the game started, and you realized very early on that maybe trevor hadn't been lying when he said not all of them are as good. he practically flew around the ice, graceful, mesmerizing. and it was obvious that he wasn't looking to show off, either, that he was just playing to have fun, and if he really wanted to, he could run the scoresheet up into oblivion.
you could feel bridget smile beside you. "yeah," she sighed. "it's pretty crazy."
"he could play professionally," you breathed.
she shrugged. "he's happy," she said simply.
cole scored twice, the other team clawed their way back in. griff threw alex in the box for boarding, which old man peters, even with his granddaughter in his lap, would not let go, keeping a one-man ref, you suck! chant going long after the power play was over.
"does he know it's griff?" you asked bridget.
"of course he does," she said. "he'll buy him a beer after this."
such was small town life, you supposed.
in the end, fireman spence made some crucial saves, keeping it tied late into the third. with about a minute left, trevor made an unreal, practically magical pass to matt, who finished it off in a one-timer that sunk into the back of the net.
the crowd erupted. you and bridget jumped up and down, holding each other as the goal horn sounded.
the team went through the line in celebration, then skating by the away section before the next face off.
trevor blew you a kiss. you shook your head at him, but couldn't wipe the smile off of your face.
the game ended in a win, and the town migrated over to the local bar. you busied yourself with harry's mom, telling her that no, she had nothing to worry about, yes, harry was quiet, but he was kind as anything, and that was most important.
everyone cheered when the team walked in. you clapped along with them, feeling a smile tug at your lips as soon as your eyes locked on trevor.
his eyes found yours immediately, that lazy grin following as he squeezed past people to get to you.
you met him halfway, a hazy neon light over your heads, making color dance in his eyes like starlight. his long hair was damp, curly at the ends in a way that made you want to reach up and tug at them.
"speechless, eh, sug?" he teased, shrugging one shoulder with exaggerated arrogance. "i know, my play tends to evoke that reaction from people. i-"
you scrunched your mouth to the side, smacked him lightly in the chest. "god forbid i try to think of something nice to say to you," you said, smiling. you made to pull you hand back, but his warm, wide palm came up to cover it, holding it against his chest.
you exhaled, looked up at him, unsure.
"what was your favorite part?" he asked, those shining eyes careful. "did you like cole's between-the-legs? or maybe my last assist?" he winked. "always a crowd favorite."
suddenly confidence welled up inside of you, a vault. but we tell him anyways, you had said. that we do.
tell him, the overhead lights whispered.
"when you blew me a kiss," you said, reaching your free hand up to cup his jaw, textured under your touch from his five-o'clock-shadow. "that was my favorite part."
flame crept into his gaze abruptly, suddenly, shockingly. he settled his other hand on your hip, pulled you closer to him, his grip making your breath catch. "was it?" there was a roughness to his voice that felt tangible.
you nodded slowly, speaking to his mouth. you weren't scared. you weren't running. you weren't stalling. your skin was humming, your blood felt hot. he was so perfect against you, his hand over yours somehow the most intimate touch you could remember.
he ducked his head to yours, just a breath away, so you could see the gold in his eyes. "let me do you one better," he rasped, waiting for your single nod before finally crushing his mouth to yours in a kiss that felt like early sunrises, slow and meaningful and only the beginning.
you pushed up onto your tiptoes, looped both of your arms around his neck, tugging him closer, closer, as he kept one hand on your hip, the other grasping the back of your neck, keeping you from collapsing into him.
kissing your ex had felt almost robotic, scientific, stiff in an endearing way at best, stiff in an awkward way in reality.
there was nothing stiff about this, nothing scientific about him. this was all feeling, all malleable, all calloused hands and chapped lips. he kissed like someone who had to work for it, like someone who didn't have to prove anything to you but wanted to, anyways.
just that was enough for you to sigh against him, the fact that there were other people around the only thing stifling your soft moan.
he smiled into your mouth, like a low-spoken secret between the two of you. "taste like butterscotch," he mumbled against your lips, pulling away only just enough to make sure his words didn't disappear unheard down your throat, almost drowsily. "you like those candies i give you, sugar?"
your chest rose and fell against his. the low music in the background roared in your ears, the neon light making him look like some stained glass thing worth kneeling for. "like 'em because you leave 'em for me," you said, your fingertips tracing the top of his spine.
his eyes shimmered. "can i tell you something?"
you nodded.
he hummed, gave a guilty sort of smile. "gave 'em to you because i didn't like the taste of 'em," he started, smirk growing wider. "and i wanted to convince myself to hold off on kissin' you. not to rush you, you know."
you understood, and your swollen lips quirked at the story, but your eyes flashed with something like hurt. "you don't like the way i taste, trevor?" even if it was his own doing, you suddenly wanted to brush your teeth.
"that's the thing." he ran a steady thumb along your hairline. "think my plan backfired, 'cause butterscotch's my new favorite flavor." his thumb reached your chin, tilting it up to his mouth again. "can't get enough of it," he murmured, a man possessed, barely audible as he kissed you again, this time with a softness that cut like a dagger.
you swore your head was still spinning the next day. what was supposed to be just another shift at the diner quickly turned into a flurry of questions, of neighbors looking for a side of gossip with their french toast, of line cooks swearing there was something different about you.
it was hard to answer anyone, to do anything, honestly, when it felt like you were floating, like your head was far, far away, up in the clouds.
harry gave you a fist bump when he saw you. old man peters told you in a stern tone that public bars were no place for fornication, to which an ecstatic bridget patted his shoulder and reminded him that it was only a (sort of) innocent kiss.
she pulled all the details out of you, lit up as you flushed and stumbled over your memories.
the police chief made some joke about that boy being a bad influence when you accidentally brought him whole milk instead of soy milk for his coffee.
ginger and the girls were like some insatiable beast that only let you be when you reminded them that if they kept you much longer, the diner would go hungry.
of course, your heart instinctively fluttered when that tell-tale gust of loud laughter burst through the door, along with the drag of heavy work boots, the shuffling of canvas outerwear, the shoving of gloves into back pockets.
you made your way to the table with their regular pot of coffee, met trevor's dancing gaze almost sheepishly.
"morning, guys," you said, smiling at all of them.
they chimed their chorus of good mornings, pouring their coffee into mugs themselves, as they always insisted on.
"so, what's new?" cole asked, his head resting on his fists. "probably nothing, right?"
alex and matt hid their laughs.
you rolled your eyes, smiled nonetheless. trevor had a hat on, today, making his hair curl out from the bottom of the brim. you tucked a curling lock behind his ear, ran your nails soothingly along the hair at the nape of his neck.
anyone watching would have seen the way his gaze melted like milk chocolate, how his shoulders softened, his posture relaxing completely into your small touch.
he looked up at you, eyes so soaked in affection it spilled down his face like mascara-stained tears. "i missed you," he said.
his friends groaned, as if they'd heard this a million times. suddenly, with a blush, you had a guess as to what his morning had been like. perhaps he had been just as distracted as you.
"i missed you, too," you said, because it was the truth.
"he almost dropped a crate on my foot this morning," matt said, bitterly.
you put a hand over your heart. "how tragic." you looked up, making eye contact with your friend across the diner. "hey, bridge! matt almost hurt his foot this morning. has science found a cure for that, yet?"
she huffed a laugh as she approached, shook her head at matt when she stood in front of the table. she held the back of her hand to his forehead, as if checking for a fever. "are you sure you're okay, sweet boy? this sounds serious," she joked.
matt had paled. trevor pulled you into his lap and you hid your laugh in his collarbone.
"'m fine," matt bit out, to which bridget smiled.
"thank god, that was close," she said. her gaze wandered, landed on something out the window. she squinted. "did somebody dig up some of the flowers outside?" she asked.
"dig?" alex mused, "maybe rip is a better word, eh, trev?"
"right. almost forgot." trevor held you in his lap with one hand, reached the other to the side. suddenly several flowers were being held in front of you, thin, spidery roots still intact. "sugar, will you go to the valentine's day skate with me?"
you smiled, wide and toothy, touched one hand to his face as the other grasped the humble, earthy bouquet. "of course i will, handsome," you said, "what's the valentine's day skate?"
"pta event, tomorrow," bridget said, looking on with interest. "whole town shows up."
"this town shows up for everything," you replied.
she smiled fondly. "heart-shaped balloons and fruit punch and ice skates. what's not to love?"
you turned your neck to look back up at trevor. "'m honored to have been on the receiving end of one of your famous invitations," you teased, "even if it's not for a dance." his delight rumbled into your shoulders, the back of your thighs, firm and warm.
cole yawned, stretched. "duty calls, fellas," he said, making to get up.
you reluctantly pushed up from trevor's lap, quickly pouring his untouched mug into a to-go cup. the team filed out with their typical string of thank yous and goodbyes, matt's extra glance at bridget met with a returning smile.
then it was you and trevor, as the morning break always ended, like clockwork, like a bedtime story that was comforting in its predictability. he tucked a bill in your apron, several candies, the weight of them alone making you smile.
"did i tell you how pretty you look today?" he told you.
"no," you mused, your hands clasped behind your back, shifting on your feet.
he hummed. "so pretty, sugar, never been so nervous to ask someone out," he admitted, that smug smile lazy across his face.
you tilted your head. "don't be nervous," you told him. "you're the easiest yes i've ever had."
at your words he ducked his wide shoulders down to you, flipped his hat backwards on his head so as not to impede you in any way, kissed you with a rough palm on your soft face, your hands still behind your back as you met him up on your toes.
a different kiss, one so lovely, still, soft and beautiful, drenched in daylight.
would your head ever stop spinning, when it came to him? would you ever come down from the clouds, again? even if you did, would there not be cumulus tufts in your hair, wisps of cirrus in your lashes?
he was proving it difficult, especially that next day, the fourteenth of february.
you had the morning to yourself, existing slowly and methodically, reading and running errands, finally starting to get ready for your date in the late afternoon.
before you knew it, there was a knock at your door, just as you had swung your jacket on. you swung it open to find him leaning against the doorframe, the picture of ease, shoulders drooping the way they always did after a working morning.
"ready to go?" you asked, making to close the door behind you before pressing up on your toes to kiss him on the cheek. he caught your face in a hand before you could, though, steering your lips towards his mouth instead. you laughed against his lips. "greedy," you taunted, pulling away, letting yourself lean into his warm side.
"got no idea, sugar," he admitted, voice twinged with a day of speaking. you walked together to the high school ice skating rink, only a few minutes away, the brisk february air biting at your nose, your ears. you caught up on the morning, what book you had finished, how annoying ginger's husband was being about the state of his rain gutters.
when you entered the rink, finally, pushing forward the old doors, you couldn't help but smile, and trevor couldn't help but watch you.
everyone was here, of course they were. balloons hung from the top of the glass, streamers decorating every archway and spare inch. a massive table of themed refreshments was just next to the bleachers.
it looked like something out a ninety's film, mixed with the unique small town charm and wintery love you had come to know so personally.
you and trevor quickly got your skates on, all lingering touches and knowing smiles, and headed for the ice.
you were shaky at first, but his hands were so tight on yours, you knew there wasn't a chance he would let you fall. he spun you around the rink easily, twirling you like a ballroom dance floor, ever the show-off, anything to make you laugh.
"hey, harry!" you called out, at one point, noticing your host-friend helping a taller, skinner kid his age onto the ice. he waved, his eyes glittery in a way you recognized. is that jason? you mouthed. harry nodded, smiled shyly. you gave him an impressed thumbs up, trevor whistled.
you asked trevor how he got into hockey, watched how his mind waltzed behind his eyes when he talked about outdoor rinks with his friends in elementary school, how even piled-on scarves and hats and puffer jackets didn't stop that flying feeling.
significance would gather in your stomach, butterflies morphing into something much more serious, the kind of flame you'd find in a living room fireplace, in the hearts of teenage lovers.
you skated by cole, scooping up the snow he had made with quick starts and stops, and alex, whose neck was becoming the new home of said snow.
alex grunted, immediately breaking into stride to catch a fleeing cole, whose bright and clear laugh echoed under the roof like church bells.
the fire and police departments had started a relay race, ginger and her girls had formed a circle close to the hot chocolate.
old man peters held his sleeping granddaughter in his lap, bouncing his knee gently, both of their smiles blissful.
trevor's hand found your far hip, pulling you into his warm side. you sighed, looked up at him as you let your fingers trace along his jaw.
"touchy today, sugar, hm?" he said into your hair, a rumble to his tone that told you he liked it.
you hummed, nodded. "you just look so..." you trailed off, in thought, thinking about what, exactly, you meant to say. he looked what? practically edible? like an ocean you wanted to drown in?
how could you tell him you'd been avoiding looking at his hands, for fear you'd blurt something out about wanting them around your neck?
you just swallowed, cleared your throat. his smirk was a flash of teeth.
"you feelin' okay?" he cooed. "should i take you home?"
you found yourself nodding, even though you hadn't been at the rink for long.
"yeah?" he mocked, taunting, his hand on your hip suddenly firm, burning.
bridget's laugh cut through the sizzling air like a stream of cold hose water. you both turned to look at where she now sat, having obviously fallen onto the ice. she peered up at matt through her blonde bangs. "some teacher you are," she laughed, "i knew trev was the right choice for my girl's lessons."
matt shook his head, a barely-there smile on his thin lips. he offered her a hand, steadily helped her to her feet, an almost undetectable shake in his breathing as bridget grabbed onto his forearm for extra stability. "alright, smart ass," he mused, "no help for you, then."
he made to drop her hands, to leave her on her own, but she latched onto him tighter. "yeah right," she said, "you're not going anywhere, sweet boy."
cole's laugh sparkled at matt's flush.
you and trevor were already on the way out, bidding your short goodbyes, half-assed excuses about not feeling well given and taken with knowing eye-rolls.
he walked you back to the inn, up the stairs, his hands on you ever-so-distracting, his voice a careless rasp, your heart beating heavy in your chest.
you finally made it to your closed door, your back against it as he looked down at you with that heated gaze, his frame boxing you in.
"well, get some rest, sugar," he said, slowly, smiling. "since you're not feeling well." he twirled a strand of your hair around a finger.
you sputtered. "what? trevor-"
his eyes widened in mock-surprise. "oh, is there something you want?" he asked.
you clutched at his shirt with your fist, pulled. "please."
"please, what, sugar?" he asked, so smug you wanted to punch him. "gotta tell me what you want, hm?"
"you," you whined, but that wasn't enough.
"oh, is that it?" he drawled, ducking his head down to you, so close, but not close enough, not even a little.
you worked your jaw, so frustrated. "just," you tried, "just please, touch me, trevor, i just wanna feel you."
he smiled, held the side of your face in his palm. "am touchin' you, sugar," he said, "tellin' me this isn't enough?"
you ran your tongue along the inside of your cheek, groaned at his feigned confusion. "shut up," you breathed, his mouth an inch from yours.
"make me," he bit back, and then you were kissing him. you swore your lips would be charred, later, as if in proof. you reached a hand behind you, twisted open your door, while the other rooted in his hair, tugged him inside your room as he moaned against your lips.
one of his hands grasped the back of your neck, the other a bruising grip in your side, walking you backwards until the backs of your knees felt the blunt edge of the bed.
you barely registered as he reached under you, flipped you onto his lap, your legs straddling his hips as he sat down on the comforter, far too caught up in this kiss, somehow still so different from ones you has shared before. so charged you felt the air might combust at any second, that, despite his relentless repairs, there was no way this inn could withstand the way he was kissing you, now. surely, the roof would cave in under the weight of your want, water would sear straight through the pressurized pipes.
he smiled against your mouth when you started to rock your hips back and forth across his lap, just so desperate for something, anything.
your exhales came out short, little pants as you reveled in the little friction you were getting against his firm thigh, covered in his heavy work pants, nothing close to what you really wanted, but something, at least.
mercifully, he moved your clothes aside, rocked you more forcefully, making the sensation practically blissful. you dropped your heavy head to his neck, moaned into it.
"oh, sugar," he cooed, and you squeezed your eyes shut. "so greedy for it, hm?"
you nodded into his neck, the tough texture combined with the heavy weight of his thigh catching you in just the right spot, urging a whimper from your throat.
"makin' a mess of me, yeah? could cum just from my thigh?" he said, almost like he felt sorry for you, but you could hear the smile in his voice. you bit down gently on the space between his neck and shoulder, your small retaliation, smiled at his groan.
you slowed your rhythm, picked your head up, let your chest rise and fall as you looked at him in the face, searched his eyes.
his face was slightly flushed, his eyes only just a bit glassy, but he looked at you like you were a wonder, like some divine power had made her way into his lap.
you pressed a feather-light kiss to the corner of his mouth, loved the way you could feel his smile crinkle and widen under your lips.
"please, trevor," you whispered, your touch so soft around his neck. "please just give me what i want."
you shifted on his lap until you felt him, hard and hot and heavy underneath you. his voice came out with a strain. "anything, sugar," he told you, "just tell me."
you lifted your hips up, could feel how wet you were, could tell you had probably left a trace of yourself on his pants. "wanna cum on your cock, trevor," you breathed, couldn't help your sly grin when he immediately began to tug his clothes aside. "please, please let me. i know i'm so greedy-"
he was nodding like he understood as he angled your hips up higher, shifted you so that you sat right above him as he pumped himself up and down, once, twice, so obviously ready for you. "you are, sugar," he said, so eager it almost sounded like a whine, "but i'll give you anything you want, swear it." his hands found your hips. "just promise you'll only be greedy for me, hm?"
you sank down onto him with a nodded promise, bit your lip at the slow, scorching pressure, the pleasant stretch that pulled at your middle, that you felt in your toes. you blinked, trying to get used to the sensation, trying to muffle the groan in your mouth.
"fuck," he moaned, his fingers clutching at the flesh of your hips like you might float away if he let go, "all the way, sugar, 'atta girl." you huffed a short breath when he was all the way in.
words felt far away, suspended in bubbles that whirled around your head.
"speechless, eh?" he teased, and you had a sense of deja vu. "don't worry, sugar. common re-"
and you could have growled at him for alluding to the fact that other girls had felt this, that there were other people in the world who knew what this felt like, so you fitted a delicate hand over his mouth and rolled your hips up and back on him until he was the speechless one, moans falling from his mouth, his brow pinched in pleasure.
"don't worry," you breathed, your mouth an inch from his ear. "common reaction."
you began to move your hips up and down faster as the stretch gave way to something dizzyingly good, as he began to thrust back up into you. so hard and fast, but he held you like something precious. his rhythm built until your mouth fell open, until sweat shone on the high points of his face, until time melted away, until you were reminded of what you'd mistaken him for when you'd first seen him, all that time ago - some ancient sculpture. a work of art.
he cursed as your clit caught on his pubic bone, the friction so overwhelming, and you clenched down on him. "give it to me, sugar," he said, but the strain in his voice made it sound like a plea. "fuck, let me hear you, yeah?" his tone grew gentle. "been wantin' to hear you for so long."
you tightened around him further at his small admission, let your nails rake down his neck, probably a little too hard. he grunted, thrusted harder, shifted you closer to him.
you moaned his name at the new angle, one you felt in the tips of your ears, your hairline, your tongue.
you were so close, so impossibly almost there. "please make me cum," you whined, "please, need you so bad." your exhale was practically pained as you ran your fingers over the red marks on his neck your nails had left. "don't i deserve it, baby?"
he grunted, and it was different. you felt his stomach and thighs clench, his hips sputter as his head spun with the fact that you'd gone right to begging him, skipped the asking part. he pressed his hand to your lower stomach, let his thumb catch against your clit, sending you over the edge in moments. "'course you deserve it, sugar," he rasped, gravelly, in your ear as you rode out your high, his thrusts growing wild. "been so good."
you clenched down on him, forcing his own orgasm, fast and all-consuming, the smell of him everywhere, mixed with your perfume. your exhales were warm and heavy, transparent clouds that settled on the floor of your room, making it every bit the dreamland it had become in your mind.
he held you so close to him as he pulled you to his chest, leaned you both back on your bed. you stared up at the ceiling.
about time, one of the tiles whispered, holding a crisp fiver.
couldn't have waited another week? the losing tile muttered bitterly.
you smiled as his rough hand found your face, tilted it towards him. he was smiling. your stomach fluttered as you felt your own mouth pull wider.
"what?" he asked, his voice rough, drowsy with use.
you shook your head. "nothing," you said, "just you." your eyes crinkled under the weight of your happiness. "i'm callin' dibs on you."
his eyes lit up as he pulled you in for another kiss, slow and overflowing with meaning. he hummed. "butterscotch," he whispered against your mouth. "my favorite."

You didn't mean for it to become a habit.
It began on a whim.
After a strenuous mission, you relaxed in your respective room, curled up in your bed, reading a book. The main light was off, and you relied on the soft glow of the lamp on your bedside table. It was a relatively new book— you were only a chapter or so in— when a light knock at your door made you jump.
You hadn't been expecting it. It was pretty late, too.
You were surprised when Gaz poked his head in, apologising for interrupting. He figured he could unwind in your room, since the rest of the 141 were doing their own thing, and he needed some company.
You accepted, of course— how could you not when he looked at you with those deep brown eyes?
He settled on the bed next to you, sprawling himself across it near your feet. You laughed as he sighed, face buried in your duvet. He lifted his head, peering at you quizzically.
"What are you reading?" He asked.
You held the book up. "I... honestly don't know. It's pretty good, so far though."
He hummed, intrigued, as he scooted closer to you, head now resting parallel to your thighs.
"Read to me?" He asked, long eyelashes casting shadows across his cheekbones beneath the lamplight.
You smiled. "I'm two chapters in."
"That's okay," he muttered. "Just fill me in on what's happening."
You did, explaining the last couple of chapters in as much detail as possible. You then told him what the book was about, reading the little summary on the back. By this stage, his head was now resting on your lap atop the blanket, hand cupping your slightly bent knee.
"Right, okay," he said. "Now you can read from where you were reading."
You chuckled at his enthusiasm for you to hurry up and begin. So, you obliged, reading a couple of chapters before his breathing slowed. You looked away from your book, realising that he had fallen asleep, head still resting in your lap. You smiled, gently patting his head.
He mumbled incoherently.
"Gaz, come on, you fell asleep," you giggled, nudging him. "You need to go to bed."
He yawned, forcing himself to sit up. His eyes drooped, bleary with drowse as he stumbled off of your bed.
"Fine, but I'll be back for the next chapter tomorrow." He muttered, leaving with his eyes barely open.
The next evening, at roughly the same time, Gaz found his way into your room again. This time, with Soap in tow.
"Soap?" You greeted skeptically.
"Gaz said you're reading to him. I like a good storytime, too." He smiled, sprawling himself out on the rug beside your bed. He didn't give you any room for argument as Gaz resumed his place resting against your lap.
"Oh...kay... do you want me to fill you in?" You asked as you grabbed your book from your bedside table.
Soap shook his head. "No, no, don't worry. Gaz filled me in on the way here."
You laughed. "Of course he did."
So that's how you began reading to both Gaz and Soap. That night, Soap did much the same as Gaz did previously by falling asleep— face to the ceiling, stretched out on your plush rug. His soft snores prompted your eyes away from the pages. Gaz, too, was drifting in and out of consciousness.
You closed the book gently. "Okay, you two, time for bed."
Gaz got up without much of a fuss, but he had to shake Soap to get the man to cooperate. Soap grumbled and complained the entire time Gaz hoisted him to his feet. Then, still muttering grumpily under his breath, he let Gaz lead him out of the room.
The next day really confused you.
Both Gaz and Soap turned up, and once they were comfortable in their usual positions, a soft knock echoed through your room. Soap opened the door for Price, much to your astonishment.
"You too?" You questioned as your captain took up position in your desk chair, near the foot of your bed.
He relaxed in the chair, legs spread and arms folded across his chest.
"Got nothing else to do, love." He said simply, imploring you to pick up the book with a nod of his head.
You were in slight disbelief, but nevertheless, you continued with the book. While Gaz and Soap relaxed, listening to the peaceful lull of your voice, Price asked the occasional question. You stopped patiently and replied, ignoring the frustrated groans from Soap on your floor.
"Just shut up and listen, Price."
"Watch it, MacTavish."
Not long later, you managed to finish the chapter before Soap fell asleep. You waved them all goodbye as they filed out of your room, and you forced yourself not to laugh as they did.
Now, if you were confused before, the next day threw you completely.
Once again, Gaz lay sprawled out on your bed beside you, Soap on the floor with his arms behind his head. Price returned, too, taking his place in your chair. Then, just one word into the newest chapter, the door creaked open.
Ghost slipped in, almost silently, and you couldn't help but gape at your lieutenant as he lumbered into the room, cozy black hoodie on and hands jammed into the front pocket.
"L.T, I knew you couldn't resist," Soap beamed from the floor. "You want in on the book club?"
You scoffed, smiling. "This is not a book club."
Ghost just shrugged at Soap. "Lonely outside when I can't hear you lot making a racket."
He stepped over Soap and sunk himself onto the end of your bed, leaning himself up against the wall. He stretched his legs out, brushing your and Gaz's feet, knees cracking as he settled down.
You stared at everyone, slightly dumbfounded. Then, you turned to Ghost.
"You're... here willingly?" You asked him.
"Mhm."
"You... willingly want to listen to me read my book?"
"Mhm."
You took a deep breath. "Right, okay, cool. Um, do you need—?"
"Johnny's given me a rundown." He mumbled.
Of course he had.
And that's how it started, just over two weeks ago. Every night, especially after a particularly rough mission, the boys seemed to gravitate to your bedroom. They'd curl up and listen to your soft voice as you read to them; reading them to sleep on many occasions.
Despite Ghost and Price's lack of enthusiasm compared to Soap and Gaz, you could tell they enjoyed it just as much as the younger two did. It made you smile, feeling all warm and fuzzy inside knowing you could bring these hardened military boys some peace and comfort.
"Okay, so you're telling me, the kid didn't even know he was a wizard?" Price asked, leaning forward in his chair.
You laughed. "No, he didn't. Well, now he does."
"Ridiculous." Price muttered, shaking his head.
Ghost scoffed. "It's unrealistic."
Soap rolled his eyes. "Obviously, Ghost, it's a fucking fictional book about wizards an' shite."
"No, I mean, some big cunt with a beard turned up with a fucking ugly cake and told the kid he's a wizard, and the kid just believed him?" Ghost grumbled. His attitude had definitely shifted since the first time he joined their little, as Soap called it, book club.
"Yeah, basically." You smiled.
You had just introduced them to the Harry Potter series. You weren't even halfway through the first book yet.
"Ridiculous." Ghost said, echoing Price.
"Well, what would you have done, eh?" Soap questioned, sitting up, now cross-legged on the fluffy rug.
"What, if a big cunt called Hagrid turned up on my eleventh birthday and told me I'm a wizard?" Ghost mused. "Woulda knifed him, Johnny."
"Whatever." Soap scoffed.
When they weren't arguing about the book you were reading them, the night's with the boys were really peaceful. Relaxing, too.
A balm for their tortured souls, and a salve for the wounds they had earned during battle.
Dusk would fall, and they would limp into the comfort of your bedroom, warm and smelling sweetly of you. Waves of exhaustion would pin them in place while they clung to the presence of you for stability. Some days, all four would find themselves curled up on your bed— Gaz laying next to you, head on your lap; Soap on the floor, but his head resting on the edge of your bed, a hand resting in the crook of your arm as you held the book; Ghost with his back to the wall, your legs propped up over his, his gloved hands stroking circles on your shins; Price settled next to Ghost, shoulder to shoulder, his legs beneath yours as well, a hand resting warmly around your ankle.
They listened carefully, silently, as you read to them, basking in the comforting warmth of you. Battered, bruised, and bleeding from the cuts of battle, they rested tranquilly at your side. Their ears were no longer ringing with echoes of explosions, nostrils no longer filled with the acrid stench of gunpowder and death. They could hear only you, voice silken with each word you spoke. They could smell only you, the candles that burned and permeated the air, rich and sweet and a consoling sense of familiarity.
Towards the end of a chapter, you could sense a shift in the room. Some time ago, Soap had wiggled in beside you, head in the bend of your arm and shoulder. He breathed deeply, slowly, eyes closed and hair dishevelled against the sleeve of your shirt. Gaz, too, breathed slowly as sleep had overtaken him, hand still heavy on your knee.
Ghost had slumped to the side, somehow managing to tuck his hulking frame between Gaz and the wall. Mask still on, you could see his eyes, closed and smeared with black. Price, too, had fallen asleep; still, impressively, sitting upright. His head tilted forward, hat low over his forehead, snoring softly.
You sighed to yourself, closing the book and carefully putting it back on your nightstand, mindful not to disrupt Soap curled into your side like a cat. You nestled back into your bed, snuggled up with your task force, a sight you had never thought you'd see. As you wiggled to get comfortable, Soap stirred, groaning as he looked up at you, still resting his head near your chest.
"S'all right, go back to sleep." You whispered, angling your arm so it draped securely over top of him.
He didn't reply verbally, just burrowed deeper into your side, reaching a hand around to physically tighten your arm around him. He ran his thumb over your knuckles, before he fell back asleep.
Your other hand found Gaz's head, delicately skimming his hairline, smoothing along the soft skin of his forehead and cheek. You heard him sigh contentedly, still deep asleep.
Eventually, the warmth of the room and powerful bodies around you carried you to sleep.
And it was the best sleep you ever had.

grateful - gojo satoru
Tumblr media
"whatever you're thinking of, save it for tomorrow. go to sleep."
you release a heavy exhale, before pulling your arm from under your pillow and flipping over, eyes meeting stark blue ones.
you've always been mesmerized by how sky-like his eyes are, but even more so when even with the lights off, they still manage to glow. as if heaven itself lied behind those orbs.
satoru is blessed, you think. but you feel even more blessed than him for being the only one who gets to see him like this—so at peace and laid bare for you.
"you're not asleep either," you reply with half-lidded eyes.
you're tired, sure, but there was no way you'd find sleep anytime soon. not with the war waging in your head right now.
"tell me what's going on in that beautiful head of yours," satoru says, bringing his hand up to tuck back a lock of hair behind your ear. he rests his hand there, too.
you suck in a quiet breath, not sure how to proceed.
ever since he came back, you've been holding him more dear than usual, afraid he'd slip past your fingers again. you don't tell him that, though. sure, he knows it anyway, but saying it out loud seems like it'd jinx everything to hell again.
"i'm thinking of you."
he blinks up at you, silver eyelashes fluttering against his eyelid. god, he's beautiful.
"what about me?"
you should be grateful.
grateful that you have the strongest as your other half. grateful that he doesn't need to look over his shoulder. grateful that you never had to truly worry if satoru was going to make it home some nights.
grateful that unlike most other sorcerers, satoru never had to walk hand-in-hand with death. grateful that death hasn't knocked on his door even when the world fell to chaos. grateful that he's still here with you, breathing and warm and alive.
but you're not grateful tonight. not with the battle he's announced in several hours.
you don't want to say it, but you say it anyway, "don't be a hero."
a silent pause, before, "baby, you—"
"no, let me say it, satoru. i have to say it out loud," you whisper.
his hand leaves your cheek and slides down to rest above your waist. you relish the feeling as much as you can, commiting to memory the weight and warmth of it. you wish you two could stay like this forever.
"okay," he nods, shifting closer.
it's quiet enough that you can hear your own heartbeat, maybe even his, and you hope he can hear them too.
"i would never tell you not to go and save megumi," you start. you hesitate for a moment, but continue, voice quivering ever so slightly. "but you have to remember your life means just as much."
satoru's listening, but doesn't say anything. instead, his hand finds yours and he brings the back of your hand towards his lips, pressing a soft kiss to your knuckles.
"thank you for worrying about me, but you can stop now."
"are you hearing me, satoru?" your fingers grasp his tighter, a silent demand for his full attention. he gives it to you. "i'm asking you to please come home tomorrow night."
"i will, baby." he plants a quick kiss on your nose. "i'm the strongest, or have you forgotten?"
you clench your jaw slightly, wondering if you believe him or not.
you decide you don't. not enough.
but you're not going to ask him to promise you anything either. not when he already carries so much burden alone. not when you know how easily promises get broken as of late.
"i just—." you pause to look at him, really look at him. and you pray to god that you remember each and every delicate feature of his. every flaw, every dip, every scar. "i just want you to remember that i love you, always. and i won't make you promise it, but i hope with every piece of my soul that i see you tomorrow. and the day after. and the day after that, too."
satoru huffs out a short laugh, lips pulling apart to form a smile.
"you underestimate me, again." he plants another kiss, to your forehead, now.
"i'm not," you murmur.
"yeah, you are." he raises both your hands, fingers intertwining in the air. "you're underestimating my abilities, you're underestimating how much i love you, and most of all, you're underestimating the lengths i'd go to just to come back home to you."
it's not often that the satoru gojo shows raw emotion, but... here he right now doing so. he's offering you his still beating heart in his hands—and you take it. you swear you'll keep it safe with you forever.
"just—when you're out there, remember i love you, more than anything."
you're holding satoru's gaze intently, before his' drop to your lips, then back up again.
"and i love you even more than that, my girl." satoru presses one last kiss, to your lips this time. “i’ll make it home to you, i swear it.”

Tumblr media
I couldn’t help but sigh for the nth time as I squeezed my eyes shut tightly, chest tightening the longer I stared at my notebooks. It felt like nothing was going my way anymore, like everything was falling apart. I couldn’t define the tipping point of it all, but everything was starting to become too much. The stress, every new day brought more challenges without an obvious solution. The assignments felt like they were only adding up more and more, overtaking every thought of mine and only inducing more stress. Things started to become overbearing, I started feeling like a failure. There was a constant pressure on my chest, threatening, about to burst just at a simple innocent glance thrown my way by a stranger. I ignored it as best as I could, the thoughts and emotions, but it was getting harder day by day. It didn’t help that after a misunderstanding, my boyfriend wasn’t talking to me…everything just felt too much. Like I was overstimulated without a concrete reason, and not even my friends could help anymore. It felt lonely, it felt cold, and it felt downright depressing. It was fine as long as I wasn’t at home, as long as I wasn’t left on my own with my loud thoughts making me feel even more miserable.
It's been three days since we’ve spoken, Mingi and I, and it was maddening. I knew this didn’t mean the end of our relationship, but I never took it well when he was upset because of me. Especially when he was the one to pull away, to give me the cold shoulder. Especially not right now, when all I wished for was to curl up by his side and inhale his familiar cologne, closing my eyes and relaxing into my boyfriend’s arms. I needed him here, and I knew he needed his space when upset, but I felt like being selfish and just texting him. If the tears in my eyes weren’t proof enough that I was seriously on the verge of breaking, then I don’t know what else was. I sniffed loudly and pushed my notebooks aside, blood boiling just at the simple sight of them. It’s those damned notes which were making me feel like this, and the impeding feeling of failure, of failing another important class and never finishing this wrenched course and university altogether. It was frightening, and I didn’t want to be alone anymore. My friends were always a text away, but my body was craving the warmth of my boyfriend, my soul was yearning for his. I didn’t want to be alone anymore, and I didn’t want to drown and wallow in this horrible feeling anymore. I needed the love of my life next to me.
Quickly wiping my tears clean from my eyes, I adjusted my glasses on the bridge of my nose and unlocked my phone, noticing that I had gotten a notification from Instagram. At the beginning of our relationship, which was quite a few years ago, Mingi and I had set each other’s accounts to send notifications when one of us posted, being madly in love and eager to see what the other was up to. Despite the passing of time, and of our emotions only deepening, we never turned the setting off, and I was surprised to find a notification from his personal page. With another sniff, I clicked on the app and was presented with ten images of my boyfriend, out and about, enjoying his day. His black hair was fluffy and not necessarily styled, but the messy look always fit him extraordinarily. His bare face looked healthy, and it had a nice shine to it under the lightning of the place he was at, and I couldn’t help but sniff again as I scrolled through the pictures, trying to ignore the fact that the blue and greyish sweater he wore was a gift from me for his birthday two years ago. And perhaps the tears wouldn’t have sprung free from my eyes if it weren’t for that video in which he was dancing to the music softly playing in the background, locking and popping in tiny as he grinned and chuckled. Mingi was a dance major with a minor in music, and he was living his best possible life at the moment. He was happy and content with where he was at, and it always brought so much joy to my soul, but seeing him enjoying himself while I was wallowing in self-pity certainly set off an uncontrollable amount of tears and ugly gasps for air. It made me happy that he was doing okay, but seeing him made me miss him terribly, and I couldn’t help but close my phone and lay down on my bed, curling up into a ball as I cried into my pillow.
This crying session was really due time, the emotions bundled up for way too long now, but it still felt horrible that I had to try and push the feeling of loneliness away and comfort myself, while foolishly trying to smell Mingi’s cologne since I was wearing his oversized blouse. The only problem was that I had stolen it from him a long time ago and it didn’t carry his cologne anymore, it had my scent, and that just made me gasp for air as my heart clenched more, making me miss him even more. And perhaps if it weren’t for the sobs increasing in volume and the self-wallowing I was so focused on, I would’ve noticed or heard the jiggle of keys and the opening of the front door. But I was too busy ripping my glasses off my head and throwing them behind me, rubbing the heels of my palms roughly against my eyes and trying to calm my irregular breathing as my throat finally seemed to ease up, my chest somewhat lighter than before. But I knew the crying session wasn’t over, it was just a matter of time until another strong wave of sadness and yearning would hit me, sending me into another fit of ugly sobs. I just couldn’t help it, it felt like the world around me was falling apart and I couldn’t do anything about it, just let it ruin me in the process.
But as I pushed myself back up into a sitting position and rubbed the snot off my face with the sleeve of my blouse, I heard footsteps outside of my door, startling me. Very few people had keys to my apartment. Like my parents, bestest friend and…well, Mingi. We didn’t live together yet, we were planning on moving in together soon, but both of us had keys to each other’s apartments. And I knew it couldn’t have been my parents as they live five hours away and never visit on weekdays, neither could it be my best friend as she was away on a two-week business trip with her work colleagues. And that could only mean…that it was Mingi. And almost as if sensing my confused state, the door to my room opened and Mingi stood in the doorway, dressed and looking the same as in the pictures.
“Hey, I—baby?” His raspy voice was quiet and his eyebrows furrowed when his eyes fell on me. I sniffed loudly, frozen for a second, until another wave of yearning and loneliness hit hard, making me cry again as I stared at my boyfriend helplessly, “Oh my God, what’s wrong?”
He rushed inside, almost tripping over his feet, but made it to the bed safely and before he could really as much as reach out for me, I sprung forward and jumped on his lap, wrapping my limbs around him like a koala. Mingi grunted in surprise due to the sudden attack, but his arms were instantly wrapped around my middle as I held onto him tightly, hiding my face in his warm neck as I tried to control my breathing and stop the tears. He was here now; I wasn’t alone anymore. I had him and I would always have him, no matter what. His body was warm and soft against mine, so familiar as it engulfed mine into his, Mingi’s nose nuzzling against the top of my head as I slipped my fingers through his soft hair, sighing contently at the feeling of being held. In his arms, it was always as if the world disappeared, like it was just the two of us, like nothing and nobody could hurt us. He’s been the one and only man to ever make me feel like that, and it made me think quite often how lucky I was to have found such person. And Mingi’s sweet, yet musky scent finally made my sobs settle into loud sniffs, arms tightening around his neck involuntarily as if I was afraid he’d leave.
“Baby?” Mingi’s voice was small, almost afraid, as I felt a kiss pressed against the top of my head as he shifted, bringing us higher up on the bed as he held me close against himself.
“I missed you,” I croaked out, lips trembling slightly, “so much, Mingi.”
“I’m sorry.” Mingi whispered, letting out a heavy sigh, “I shouldn’t have ignored you for three days, that was shitty of me. Why are you crying? What happened?”
I sighed and shrugged lightly, “I don’t know, I just—”
I chewed on my bottom lip, letting the silence stretch on as Mingi carefully cupped my cheeks and raised my head up, our faces close to each other as we stared in each other’s eyes. Mingi’s sharp eyes were soft and filled with so much worry, that it made me pout as I tried to put my jumbled thoughts into words, “I don’t know. Things got too much; I suppose. The classes and assignments, the fear that I won’t finish my dissertation in time, and you then getting upset…I’ve been feeling under the weather for quite a while now, actually. I guess I just broke today.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Mingi’s expression was sour and it made me feel guilty as I looked away from his eyes, following the sharp bridge of his nose, well defined and tall. I shrugged, getting comfortable in his lap as I laced my fingers together around his neck, Mingi’s warm and big hands settling on my hips.
“You worry a lot about me, Mingi, I didn’t want to burden you again with something so insignificant—”
“Your wellbeing is very significant to me, Y/N, and you know that.” His voice had an edge to it as his grip slightly tightened against me, his own lips forming a pout. I stared at him for a few seconds before sniffing again, eyes taking in his tan face, his dark and warm eyes, the mole under his eye and on his jaw, and his plush lips. I had missed him dearly.
“I know.” I mumbled and looked back into his eyes when Mingi pulled our bodies flushed together, leaning ahead to nudge his nose against mine, his breath tickling my face. I couldn’t help the small smile that appeared on my lips, and I averted my eyes shyly as Mingi chuckled.
“I’m not upset anymore.” He said, licking his lips before bopping his nose against mine again, “And you’re too stressed to study more today.”
My lips pulled into a tight line as I hummed, shoulders sagging a little, but Mingi suddenly grinned incredibly wide, his uneven and protruding front teeth showing, a little ‘imperfection’ I adored way too much about him. His eyes suddenly held an exited glint in them and I couldn’t help but feel intrigued, raising my eyebrows in question at him.
“I brought you your favorite cake, as an apology.” He bit his lower lip as his cheeks lightly flushed, “But the weather is really nice today and I think some fresh air will do you good.”
“What are you suggesting?” I asked as I leaned forward, resting my chin on his left shoulder as I hugged him tightly.
“We drive out to our favorite spot by the waterfall and have a little picnic, we can pick up some food on the way, and then drive around aimlessly after the sun sets.” There was a short pause and a low hum coming from deep within Mingi’s chest, “How does that sound?”
New tears gathered in my eyes, but not for the previous reasons I was crying about not even twenty minutes ago. My chest was filled to the brim and my heart was beating fast and loudly in my ears, filling me with warmth and so much love that I felt like I would burst. Mingi always knew what I needed, he was always there for me, he always provided whatever he could best. I chuckled quietly and sniffed loudly again, nodding my head wordlessly before I pulled back and looked him in the eyes, a smile stretching onto my lips.
“I love you.”
Mingi’s giggle was deep and low, rolling his eyes playfully as if he tried to brush off those words, but unable to do so, “And I love you.”
I closed my eyes and leaned forward, closing the small gap between our lips as I pressed a soft, but lingering kiss against Mingi’s soft and warm lips. He tasted like the watermelon chapstick I have given him while we were on vacation, his lips chapped from the salty ocean air. And everything suddenly felt in place, I found serenity within myself as Mingi kissed back eagerly but softly, his lips capturing mine between his as his large palm melted into my lower back. Being in his arms and feeling him against myself brought a sense of security and contentment, of acceptance, and want that only Mingi could provide. His teeth lightly grazed against my lower lip as he nipped at it before just slightly pulling back, pressing his forehead against mine as he nuzzled his nose against the skin of my cheek, making me flush at the endearing gesture.
“I assume that’s a yes, then.” I chuckled and pressed a swift kiss against Mingi’s lips again.
“Yes, love of my life, let’s go.” I knew the nickname always flustered Mingi, making him call me cheesy. But this time he said nothing as he giggled quietly, scrunching his nose and squeezing his eyes shut in a cute manner, making my cheeks hurt from how widely I was smiling at him.
God, I have missed him, the love of my life. Song Mingi.

Joel had to go pick up supplies from Bill and Frank. He had started to prepare his equipment for the next evening, and was waiting for the usual guard to give him the agreed Oxy pills. But another guard showed up at the appointment. A new one, arrived in the QZ a few weeks ago. Joel had seen him some times since then, and he didn't like his smugness.
“John was assigned to another position. He told me about you. You’re gonna do business with me, Miller, if you want to get out of the QZ tomorrow.”
Joel frowned. Annoyed by this unexpected situation, and having to deal with a soldier he didn't know, and whose smirk he just wanted to wipe off his face.
“And John thought I would trust a guy who just got here?”
“John and I were together in Kansas City, before he came to Boston. The KC QZ is down now, and I joined him here so that we work as a team like we did there. There are guys like you in every QZ Miller, don’t think you’re the boss.”
Joel smiled and said “you have a big mouth for a new guy. I'll check if John can vouch for you, and we'll do business if everything’s ok. Your name?"
“Javier Peña. Peña, to you” he said with a smirk. Joel thought Peña was an asshole and the worst part was he totally owned it.
Joel handed the usual ration cards to Peña, who laughed at him.
"Oh no. I'm not a softy like John. You’re gonna have to give me more than that if you want to get out.”
Joel’s nostrils wrinkled at this guy’s insolence.
“Your price?”
“Oh, no worries, it will cost you a lot less in resources.”
“Spit it out.”
"Your girlfriend. Tonight," Peña smirked.
Joel grabbed Peña by the throat and pushed him against the wall, but the man pushed him back.
“I saw you walking around with her in the area. You must be proud to walk around with a woman like that. You see I'm nice, it won't cost you anything in ration cards."
Joel smiled, but it didn't reach his eyes.
“You know Miller, I know enough about you to ruin your life here. Your small domination of the contraband market, if you don't want it to end, you'll have to review your priorities. And your possessions. It's up to you how much you need to get outta the QZ tomorrow night"
Joel was thinking fast. His desire to beat Peña’s face quickly gave way to his concern about rationing. Survival was complicated in the QZ, with Fireflies' bombardments creating a shortage of supplies. He looked Peña in the eye and said, “see you here in 2 hours”
“Sure, Miller,” the man replied with a smirk.

Joel came back to the apartment, you were packing your backpack getting ready to leave for Bill and Frank’s. As soon as he entered, you saw that something was wrong.
“What’s going on?”
“John has been reassigned. A new guard took over. I stopped by at John’s before coming home, the guy is sure”
“Okay, what’s the problem then?”
"His price."
“Damn Joel, we’re almost out of ration cards. How much does he want?”
“He doesn't want cards. He wants… fuck… He wants you. Tonight”
You leaned back in your chair when you heard his words “son of a bitch…”
“We’ll think of something. We'll try to exit through another passage,” Joel said.
"You know we can’t, we already tried. Damn that motherfucker… what did you tell him?”
“That I'll meet him… in an hour now, at the usual rdv point.”
"OK. We’ll go meet him then.” You saw Joel’s look, and you explained to him: “we’ll try to find something else to offer him”
You looked at each other, gloomily. One motherfucker was screwing up your business, asking you the worst possible thing.
Tumblr media
When you arrived, Peña wasn't there. Just as you were about to leave, he showed up.
“You make us wonder if you’re serious, Peña. Will you be that punctual when you have to take us out?”
“When I take you out, we’ll be doing business. Here, we lay the foundations, right?”
He turned to you, and looked at you from head to toe.
“You’re pretty, Hermosa. Ready to do business with me?”
“We can offer you pills. Meds. What do you want instead of ration cards?”
“The problem, Hermosa, is that I don’t need any pills or meds. I'm not some junkie guard you can pressure in exchange for his fix. My offer is non-negotiable. Either we agree right now, or you take another path.”
He looked at you, then at Joel, smiled and said “Oh right… there ain't any other paths”
You looked at Joel who was clenching his fists, furious. And you said, “Okay. My terms.”
“Let’s see if you can be reasonable”, Peña replied, smiling
“Our apartment. Joel will be there the whole time. And it will only happen once.”
“Mmmm… I don’t mind the idea of having an audience. But it will be in my apartment, no way I’m going to yours, what if it’s a trap. And it will happen once, okay. Once per exit. If you need to leave the QZ again, the conditions will be the same”
Peña looked at you, then at Joel. “Deal?”
You answered “deal”, with a crestfallen face. Joel nodded, his lips pursed.
"Perfect! Pleasure making business with you!” The soldier was smiling again.
As you were leaving, you heard him say “Don’t fuck with me Miller”
Neither of you turned around.
Tumblr media
You walked home in silence. Once home, Joel let his anger out “No way. No way we’re letting him win this… that… That’s insane. As if you are a fucking commodity”
“Enough Joel”
“Enough? How can you be so calm?”
"We have no choice. Many women go through… this to get resources. I had to do it in the past.”
Your gaze softened when you saw Joel’s expression.
“I’m supposed to prevent this from happening, sweetheart”
“We have no choice, Joel. This bastard got us. But we’ll get out of this. And we’re gonna grab everything we need so we won’t have to go out before this asshole gets assigned somewhere else.”
Tumblr media
You arrived at Peña's apartment at the agreed time.
He opened the door, a cigarette in his mouth and a smile on his lips, and you saw him for the first time without his uniform and helmet.
Brown mustache, broad shoulders. Tight black shirt that showed off his biceps. Tight black jeans. Quite a handsome man, you thought. Telling yourself that it would possibly be more pleasant that way, before feeling guilty.
Joel’s presence made you hope that he wouldn’t behave like a total psycho.
He let you in, and gave Joel a nod, to which he didn’t respond.
A bottle of whiskey and 3 glasses were placed on the coffee table in his living room. His apartment was clean and smelled good. Turning your head to the right, you saw part of his bedroom. His bed with white sheets. Looking good.
You swallowed your saliva, and said “let’s get it over with, Peña”
He smiled at you, and said “Javier for you. Javi even, if we get along”
You rolled your eyes and placed your hand on Joel’s arm, ready to explode.
Javier filled the three glasses and said "let's have a drink, we're not savages."
Javier was enjoying his drink looking at you, smiling.
Joel finished his quickly, tapping the glass against the table to set it down.
You drank yours in one go, in need of liquid courage.
Without taking his eyes off you, Javier told Joel to go and sit in the armchair in his bedroom, near the bed. Joel looked at you then walked towards Javier pointing his finger at him “nothing twisted. You hurt her I’ll tear you apart”
“Relax man. I'm here for her pleasure and mine. I never hurt ladies. Quite the opposite in fact.”
Joel looked at you again and went to sit in the assigned place.
Javier extended his arm in the same direction, smiling at you - without his usual smirk - to invite you to go to the bedroom.
Near the bed, you turned towards him and began to undress.
“Wow wow Hermosa. No rush.”
You stopped your movements and lowered your arms alongside your body, while Javi moved closer to you.
To your astonishment, he caressed your cheek with his hand, and kissed your other cheek delicately. His mustache brushed against your skin, it was silky and didn't sting. He smelled good.
“You’re beautiful, baby”
You were confused.
“Listen, Hermosa. I’m not a freak. I won’t hurt you. I just want us to have a good time. Not just me, but you too. If you let me take care of you, maybe it will be more pleasant for you, and for me too. And your boyfriend sitting next to you might be able to relax too.”
Your gaze shifted from Javier’s eyes to Joel’s, who nodded. He also thought that it would be more pleasant for you if you could relax.
You thought about the times you had to have sex with men in exchange for equipment, ammo, meds. When you had to look at the ceiling waiting for them to finish, with the urge to vomit at hearing their grunts. And when, disgusted, you did your best to make them cum in your mouth as quickly as possible.
Ok…why not try something else and let him do as he said?
“Can I have another glass of whiskey?” you asked.
“Of course, Hermosa”. He went to get the bottle and the three glasses, which he filled. You bottomed yours in one go, and said “Ok, Javier” using his first name to try to keep him in this rather… pleasant state of mind.
Joel had his 2nd drink.
Javier didn't.
Javier moved closer to you, unbuttoning your blouse, and brushing his hands over your breasts, going down to each button. You couldn’t help but shiver when you felt his touch, which made him smile.
He pushed aside the tails of your blouse and revealed your breasts in a bra. Their soft plus, spilling out.
“your breasts are beautiful Hermosa”
He took them in his hands gently, stroking their roundness, then slipped his hands behind your back to unhook your bra. He took it off and dropped it to the floor, before taking one nipple in his mouth and sucking it gently, your other breast covered by his warm hand. You moaned and closed your eyes under the effect of his mouth and his tongue. He was good at it. You opened your eyes, looking at Joel, who nodded again, and saw him readjusting in his jeans.
Your attention shifted back to Javier, who was unbuttoning your pants and then tugged them down to the top of your thighs. He slid his hand against your crotch and felt your wetness in your panties. He smiled.
He kissed you, first placing his lips on yours, and pressing your body against his. You felt the bulge of his crotch as he slipped his tongue into your mouth, mingling it with yours. You welcomed him with desire, his actions and words made you forget why you were in this soldier's bedroom, with your partner watching you, sitting in an armchair near the bed.
Javier grabbed the hem of your panties and pulled them down, getting on his knees as he grabbed your pants as well, before removing the entire thing from your ankles.
He looked at you and just when you thought he was going to get up, he ran his tongue over your pussy. You tensed and looked at Joel who had grabbed the arms of the chair. You shook your head “no”, telling him to stay seated.
No man you had to fuck for resources had ever eaten you out. They were there to fuck, and didn't care about your pleasure. This was… new. And even if the intimacy made you uncomfortable, the contact of his tongue was already having its effects.
"You're wet, Hermosa. Good"
And you couldn't help biting your lip and closing your eyes, as he continued to lick you gently, parting your pussy with his fingers so he could push his tongue deeper between your folds.
You put your hand over your mouth, holding back a moan. No one else had made you cum, besides Joel, in years. And you were now standing in front of a man who had blackmailed you, and whom you had met a few hours before.
Javier got up, and asked you in a soft voice to go sit on the bed. Then he took off his shirt, revealing his broad, hairless torso. He was handsome, muscular, but not too much. His broad shoulders made you want to curl up on them like a cat.
Then he unzipped his jeans.
He approached you and you looked at Joel, who had a less… furious look than you thought. You looked at Javi’s crotch, he was hard. Before you could think about it further, Javi was in front of you.
“I won’t force you to suck my dick. But I really wish you would, when I see those pretty lips. Would you like to pull down my jeans and see if you like my cock enough to?”
Shit… you definitely didn’t expect the evening to go like that.
You placed your hands on his hips, and looked at the bulge that the jeans couldn't hide. He had a big cock. You started to pull down his jeans. He had no underwear. His cock sprang out, pointing up at the ceiling.
“Fuck…”
He smiled and said “come on baby, don’t tell me that this big guy doesn’t have a big cock too. Everything about him exudes cock domination. The big, strong, man everyone is afraid of”. But apparently not Javi.
You looked up at Javier then rolled your eyes.
You looked down at his cock again. Pink. A few veins, including a major one on the side. He was well groomed, his balls firm and… tempting.
The  thickness and length was equivalent to Joel's cock.
You hesitated for one last second then spat into your hand, before grabbing his cock and starting to jerk him off.
Joel in the armchair, was watching you from the side, then his eyes raised towards Javier who was caressing your cheek. His blood, which was boiling with anger, gradually gave way to the excitement. He never thought that would be the case, but seeing you seduced by another man, wanting another man, excited him. He felt more and more cramped in his jeans.
You grabbed Javier by the hips and pulled him closer to you, before running your saliva onto the tip of his cock. You placed your thumb and swirled it gently before starting to jerk him again. Then you brought your tongue closer, and licked his slit, tasting his precum, slightly salty. You moaned and took him into your mouth, gently sucking and licking his tip. His cock felt…good. The more you had his cock in your mouth, the more you salivated. You lowered your mouth to the edges of his tip, licking them with the tip of your tongue, before taking him entirely back into your mouth, this time encircling him with your lips, and starting a back and forth movement where you took him more and more into your mouth.
“Fuck Hermosa you… that’s so good”  Javier hadn't said a word for several minutes, your effect on him was that big.
Your hand that was placed on his hip came down to cup his balls.
“Damn… you’re gonna kill me”
You were sucking his full length, your nose burying in his pubic hairs. You moaned, having forgotten the situation completely. You moved your mouth up from the base of his shaft to the tip, wrapping your lips around it, then you pulled him out of your mouth.
You couldn't resist tasting his balls. You looked up at him, the tip of your tongue level with the tip of his cock, and gently lowered it down to his balls.
“Mierda…”
You started to jerk him off again, and you licked his ball. Hairless. You felt it rolling under your tongue, before moving on to the second one. You licked them for a long time, moving from one to the other, before taking his cock back into your mouth and sucking his entire length.
Javier’s hands, previously resting on your head without applying pressure, began to press against your temples. He accompanied your movement, moaning, until he said “ok pretty girl, come lie down otherwise I’m gonna cum in your mouth”
You released him, licking his tip one last time, and lay down, looking at Joel. He had unzipped his jeans and pulled out his cock. Hands resting on the arms of the chair.
Javi removed his jeans and came to lie down, his head between your legs. “I can’t wait to have my mouth on you, the taste was delicious”
He parted your folds with his fingers, and without taking his eyes off you he ran his tongue over your wet pussy, from your hole to the clit. You moaned and said “oh god…Javi”, cupping your breasts in your hands. You spread your thighs to give him more access and you heard him say "mmm...you taste so good Hermosa...you're so wet"
You looked at Joel again. He held his cock in his hand and was jerking himself gently. He looked wrecked. He saw your gaze blurring with pleasure, and he gripped his cock tighter, continuing to jerk off.
Javi was still eating you out, running his tongue through your folds, then lingering on your clit. He gently rubbed against the mattress and you heard him moan. You felt his fingers caress your pussy, mingling with his tongue. Then he inserted two fingers into your soaking pussy, focusing on your clit with his tongue.
“I want you to cum on my tongue and on my fingers hermosa. Cum for me, I wanna hear you”
He turned his fingers to find your sensitive spot, you felt an incredible heat and pleasure rising from deep within your insides. He came to place a hand on yours, which was caressing your breasts, continuing to finger fuck you with the other, and to suck your clit with his tongue.
‘Oh Javi… Javi… I’m gonna come. Please continue. Oh my god.. Oh… Javi!!!”
You exploded in pleasure, your stomach tightening in spasms. He continued to suck on your clit gently, then when your twitching subsided, his tongue joined his fingers inside your pussy. He groaned as he licked all your juices.
He then moved away from your crotch, his mouth and chin glistening. He wiped them with the back of his hand, smiling.
"It doesn't surprise me that you want to keep her so much" he told Joel, but without insolence this time.
“I’m gonna fuck you now baby”
He lay down between your legs and took his cock in his hand, before inserting the tip into your pussy. He stopped at the entrance and kissed you languidly, his tongue searching for yours, then sucking it from his lips. While the two of you were still kissing, he slowly pushed in half of his cock, before pulling back and then pushing in again, this time bottoming out.
He groaned and started to fuck you. Slowly and deeply. You felt every nerve rubbing inside you. His rhythm was soft and sensual. He kissed your cheek, and watched you before kissing you again, softly.
Then he said, still looking at you “wanna join us Miller?”
You widened your eyes, before turning your surprised gaze to Joel.
“I can share. I'm sure the two of us would do you even more good. So?" he asked looking at Joel who was looking at you. You swallowed, and nodded at him. Joel waited a few seconds, stunned by the situation. Then he got up and took off his clothes, before moving closer to the bed. Javi pulled out of you, and said “take my place”. You looked at them and felt yourself getting even wetter.
Joel moved between your legs, stroked your hair with one hand, and entered you gently.
“Oh fuck… Joel…”
Joel closed his eyes from the pleasure he felt. Fucking you after Javier woke something animalistic in him. Feline.
His hips thrusts were almost as gentle as those of Javier, who had settled into the chair that Joel had occupied a few minutes before, jerking off.
“Do you like being shared like that hermosa?”
Your eyes locked with Joel's, you nodded “yeah… yeah I love that”
After a few minutes, Javi stood up and said, "on all fours, pretty girl"
Joel got up, and you settled on your hands and knees. Javi came to sit against the headboard in front of you, his cock clutched in his hand.
Joel put his hands on your hips, and thrust into you, picking up a faster pace this time.
You took Javi’s cock in your hand, and began to suck him, to the rhythm of Joel's cock strokes.
“That’s good hermosa… you’re doing so well. Do you like that, having both of our cocks in you?”
You nodded, your mouth full of his cock. You worked hard to suck him deeper and deeper.
Joel groaned as he watched you suck Javi, and he started to fuck you harder. The pace kept you from taking as much of Javi into your mouth as you wanted, causing you to groan at the loss, and you focused on his tip with your tongue.
Joel slowed down and said "you wanna suck him sweetheart? All of him? Go ahead, suck him”
"Come on Hermosa, listen to your man. He wants you to feel good"
You grabbed the base of his cock, and took him back into your mouth, sucking up and down, deeper and deeper each time. Until he held your head with his hand, and told you "keep me warm princess"
Joel stopped and frowned, waiting for your reaction, to see if you wanted to back off or not. You didn't move, and kept Javi's cock deep in your throat until he released you.
“Good girl”, he said.
You resumed your movement, and that time Joel grabbed your neck, holding you down on Javi's cock back down your throat, which made him smile.
Joel released his grip, but kept his hand on your neck, accompanying your movements.
Joel picked up the pace slightly again, making you moan under his thrusts. He slid his hand up to your clit, and brushed it gently, before rolling it under his finger. You moaned, Javi’s cock deep in your throat for the 3rd time.
“Come on, cum for both of us this time hermosa. Cum with his cock deep in your pussy and my cock in your throat”
Javi's words turned you on to the max, Joel stroked you just right to make you cum, and you moaned during the climax of your pleasure, your nose in Javi's public hair again.
Joel slipped out off you and said "fuck him now sweetheart". Javi slid underneath you to lay down, you took his cock in your hand and pushed him inside you. Both of you moaned.
Joel sat on his knees, staying behind you, and he spread your ass cheeks with his hands to watch Javi’s cock sink into your pussy.
“Fuck baby… I never thought it would turn me on so much to see you take a cock other than mine”
“Yeah baby? You like that?”
“Mmm mmm”
Joel leaned over your ass, and dropped his saliva on it. He placed his thumb on the ring, and began to caress you.
He told you “wanna try more baby”?
You turned to look at him, and said “Yes Joel…. Yeah” You looked at Javi, who said “fuck me…” with a surprised but delighted look.
Joel spread your cheeks, and licked your ass. Dripped saliva on it. Touched it with his thumb. Then he focused his tongue on it, working to roll it against your ring to relax it.
“Do you like it Hermosa? Do you like getting your ass licked?”
“Yeah… fuck… yeah i love that”
Regularly, Joel would pass your thumb over your ass, bringing it in gradually, spreading your buttocks as far as possible. The indecent position excited you immensely, coupled with Javi's cock ravaging your pussy.
“You have lube Peña?”
“Yeah 1st dresser drawer”. Joel went to retrieve it, opened the bottle and took a dab on his fingers, coming to apply it on your ass. His thumb went in easily now.
Javi gave you a boost for a few minutes, before slowing down to let Joel settle in.
“You’re naughty, baby… you know that?”
You licked his lips before biting them gently.
Joel opened the bottle again and applied lube to his cock, then he settled between your legs.
“Ready baby?”
“Yeah… go ahead Joel, fuck me”
"You often take it in the ass?" Javi asked.
“Yes… but the double, it will be the first time”
“Ok hermosa, you’re in good hands”
Javi stopped, his cock buried in your pussy, letting Joel manage the pace. Joel pressed his cock against your ass, and began to thrust, your ring gently spreading as he went in.
You felt every inch of your body acclimating to his shaft.
He pushed in slowly, grunting. Before pulling back, and pushing again. He started to move back and forth, until his balls hit against your pussy occupied by Javi's cock.
“Fuck baby… didn’t know you were such a slut.”
Each of them felt the other's cock through the thin wall of flesh.
Your clit rubbed against Javi, you felt your pleasure rising. Joel’s hands were fixed on your waist, Javi’s on your hips. You weren’t moving, letting your body sway according to their movements.
Looking up, you saw that Javi’s gaze was on Joel, watching him with a satisfied smile.
Javi looked down at your jiggling breasts and said, “Cum hermosa. One last time. Squeeze our cocks, make us cum in both your holes”
You kissed him, in a messy way, until your orgasm made you capsize. They gave you time to come back to yourself, then gradually increased the pace, until they were fucking you hard.
Javi said “I’m gonna cum…I’m gonna fill your pussy. You have an after pill, Miller?”
“Yeah go ahead. Fill her up”
Javi kissed you passionately until his moans became grunts, and you felt him shoot the jets of cum deep into your pussy. He pulled out, and you heard Joel's panting speed up.
Joel's hands tightened on your hips, and he froze deep in your ass, sending his hot cum deep into your insides.
He collapsed on your back, while you were lying on top of Javi.
Your breathing struggled to calm down.
Then Joel got up, and Javi followed him.
You laid down on your stomach, and felt their cum dripping from both of your sore and swollen holes.
“Well… you deserve to go out of the QZ tomorrow,” Javi said, smiling.

little blurb about supportive arsenal gf finding out lessi is starting 🥹
two posts in one day, spoiling y'all
debut II a.russo
"lessi did you grab my training top by accident with yours?" you called out as you rummaged through your closet with a frown. "babe?" you called out again a little louder when your girlfriend didn't answer.
"no! are you sure you didn't already pack it?" the blonde called back from down the hall where she was sat in the spare room on the bed, laptop balancing on her knees as she worked on an assignment. your own shared bed was covered with your clothes as you of course had left it to the last minute to pack, your girlfriends own case already down by the front door ready for lotte to pick you both up tomorrow.
"oh. yeah i did, thank you!" you smiled in relief as you searched through your suitcase seeing your training kit folded neatly in the bottom, the taller girl in the other room rolling her eyes with a small smile.
the two of you headed to sweden tomorrow for your first match of the season and the qualifier of the champions league, you were over the moon to finally be playing alongside alessia than against her.
and it finally meant no more hours of travelling on the tube or cross city roadtrips just to spend a day or two together and then weeks apart until the cycle repeated. the distance wasn't easy but with time and communication you made it work, and you had never pressured one another about switching clubs.
but seeing how poorly alessia was treated by her former club, a team she'd supported since her childhood, was hard to bare when you loved her dearly. but you were there by her side through it all, the same way she was when you tore your hamstring early last year.
"i'm packed." you announced with a relieved sigh finally joining the striker on the spare bed, collapsing beside her on your back and resting your head against her hip, scrolling through your phone.
"thank god i was worried we might miss the flight." the taller girl teased, not looking away from her laptop as her fingers flew against the keyboard and you playfully pinched her leg for the comment.
the two you sat together in a comfortable silence, you swapping your social media deep dive for a book as your girlfriend tangled a hand in your hair, nails scratching at your scalp as she read through her study material.
"i'm gonna go start dinner baby." you finished your chapter, marking your page and sitting up. "hey!" you laughed as your girlfriend poked at the slit of skin which appeared as your arms up with a stretch. "what's for dinner?" the blonde asked with a curious smile.
"whatever i can make with as many items as possible, the last thing i'd like to come home to is a fridge full of expired, soggy or mouldy food." you winced in disgust, scrunching your nose at the thought. "do you want a hand?" the striker offered, moving her laptop off her knees and tugging you to lay on top of her.
"hi. "hello beautiful."
you blushed at her words as the blonde kissed your nose with a soft smile.
"no it's okay you said you need to study so you can focus when we're in sweden, i'll come get you once it's done baby." you answered her previous question with a smile, kissing her softly in thanks.
"now hit the books!" you ordered playfully, rolling off of her and standing to your feet as the blonde gave you a salute and picked her laptop back off the bed.
~
"smells almost as divine as you." you smiled as hoodie clad arms wrapped round you, the taller girl pressing her front into your back as her chin rested on your shoulder, kissing your cheek affectionately.
"charmer." you grinned, a slight blush coating your cheeks as you relaxed into her hold. "so, i have news." alessia broke the silence, unwrapping herself from you and taking a step back as you turned round and raised a curious eyebrow.
"jonas called." your girlfriend started, fiddling nervously with the sleeves of her hoodie as you tilted your head, unsure where this was going. "i'm starting on wednesday." she finally revealed, watching as your mouth dropped open, her own curling into a shit eating grin.
"baby! you're getting your debut!" you squealed happily, launching yourself at her as the blonde stumbled backwards but caught you, your legs wrapping around her waist.
"i am so proud of you less. i told you he was impressed at training!" you beamed, kissing happily all over her face as the tall blonde let out a giggle making your heart soar.
"i did smoke you at the wind sprints." "hey your legs are like half the size of my whole body you have an unfair advantage."
"but i can't believe we'll finally be on the pitch together for the same team and in the right red." you teased lightly as alessia spun you around before taking a few steps forward and placing you down to sit on the counter top.
"so long as i'm with you i couldn't care what color i'm wearing."

Tumblr media
you sigh heavily, letting your hand fall to your side. your breathing's heavy and the remnants of an orgasm slowly fade away as you catch your breath.
you eye the bullet vibrator in your hand, wondering when you were last fucked.
too fucking long ago, that's for sure.
you roll out of bed, a groan escaping your lips as you did so. lately, toys and your own fingers just barely got you across. you missed being fucked senseless, you missed the heated kisses, you missed the fingers buried deep in your cunt.
you knew you had your workload to blame for the lack of action. all the pent-up stress and late nights poring over client briefs were getting to you. you needed a release, an actual release, or else you're going to blow.
you walk out of your bedroom, stretching, enjoying the slight chill in your apartment amidst the hot summer day. dragging your feet the rest of the way, you find yourself in the living room. a movie plays on the tv, the lights dimmed for effect.
you turn to the man perched right in the middle of the sofa, leaning forward as if totally enamored with the scene displayed on the screen.
sunoo can get really serious with his movies.
"move," you mumble, squeezing into the plush loveseat. sunoo moves over, not even sparing you a glance. you make a face at him, wrapping your arms around one of his own, face squished against his bicep.
"it's late," sunoo points out, glancing at you momentarily.
"i know," you retort, yawning. sunoo chuckles, tugging his arm free.
"go to bed, _______. you have work tomorrow," sunoo informs, eyeing you with a slightly worried expression.
"can't sleep," you complain, sighing. "couldn't for the last few days, actually."
sunoo turns his attention away from the movie. "is there something wrong?"
you shrug, but you already know what's been keeping you awake at night.
"well, i can see you've been looking pretty miserable lately," sunoo offers sympathetically, running a hand up and down your back.
you groan, rubbing at your face.
"i just—," you begin, bringing your hands down to look sunoo straight in the eye. "don't laugh, okay?"
sunoo throws his hands up as if to say, 'go ahead'. you take a deep breath, thinking of how to formulate your next sentence.
"i think i'm just sexually frustrated," you admit. sunoo nods slowly.
you suddenly get the urge to avoid eye contact as you realize how blunt that came off. you busy yourself with a loose thread on your pajamas.
"oh," sunoo replies. there's an extended pause and you feel your insides churning in embarrassment.
"understandable," sunoo concludes, patting you on the back. you look back at him, a pained expression on your face.
sunoo laughs, pinching your cheek. for a moment, it hurts a little too much but it quickly subsides. you wonder how it would feel to have someone dig their nails into your skin as they grip your jaw.
you blink, trying to rid yourself of that thought. you huff, leaning back further into the couch.
"it just totally escaped me how long i've gone without fucking someone," you explain, mentally counting back the months since your last sexual encounter.
"how long has it been?" sunoo curiously asks.
"like, six months, give or take."
sunoo whistles lowly before chuckling awkwardly. "that is a long time."
"right?!" you affirm, frowning up at sunoo. "i bet you slept with someone lately."
sunoo laughs in disbelief, looking at you with a mix of surprise and indignation.
"how dare you speculate about my sex life?" sunoo says dramatically, elbowing you lightly in the arm.
"no speculation needed, sunoo," you inform, tilting your head towards him. "i can hear you."
sunoo's mouth falls open, eyes flitting momentarily to his bedroom door right beside yours. he looks back at you with a sheepish grin.
"well, i mean...," sunoo trails off, silently gesturing around with his hands.
"...yes."
you burst out laughing, swatting lightly at sunoo's thigh. you notice how short the shorts he's wearing actually are.
"i feel like i have to fuck someone soon or else i'm gonna explode," you complain, leaning back and staring up at the ceiling.
sunoo doesn't respond, joining you in fidgeting with another loose thread on your bottoms. you squirm, pulling away.
"that tickles," you comment absentmindedly.
"have you tried dating apps? how about that guy that you met at one of your events?" sunoo suggests, fingers now running over the velvety material of your pajamas.
"i don't know...guys on those apps are more often than not unsatisfactory," you point out. "and that guy from the event isn't all that good either."
"i see," sunoo replies. you turn to him and his eyebrows are pulled together as if he's deep in thought. he's still running his hand over your pajamas.
sunoo catches your eye and you stare for a moment. his hand stops dangerously close to your inner thigh.
"do you think you're good in bed?" you ask sunoo. he pulls his hand away, laying it on his chest as if to clutch at invisible pearls.
"why would you ask me that?" sunoo demands, seemingly offended, but his sentence breaks out into a giggle at the end.
"i don't know," you admit. "you have a lot of people over. i'm sure some of them are returning participants."
"wouldn't you like to know?" sunoo teases, sticking his tongue out at you before crossing his arms.
you pause. your eyes linger back down to the exposed skin of sunoo's thighs, smooth and seemingly flawless. you observe his forearms next, muscles taut against his chest, which, to your knowledge, is pretty firmed up. you meet sunoo's eyes and they immediately widen.
"don't say yes," sunoo warns, scooting to the end of the loveseat. he holds his arms out as if to ward you off.
you roll your eyes, turning away from him. "please, why would i want to know?"
"no, because...," sunoo begins. you look back at him curiously. "if you say yes, i'll say yes."
"for real?" you ask in surprise. you eye sunoo cautiously, looking for any indicator that this is a prank. you're positive this must be a prank.
sunoo nods.
"you're my best friend," you reason, still convinced he's pulling your leg.
"yeah," sunoo says with a nonchalant wave of his hand. "i'm helping you out. and, like, we both get something out of it."
"what are you getting out of it?"
sunoo gestures vaguely with his hands. "i get my dick wet?"
"that's weird," you deadpan.
sunoo sighs, reaching over for the remote to pause the movie still playing on the tv. he turns back to you and looks you directly in the eye.
"look, if you don't want to, just say so," sunoo says, raising an eyebrow.
"i—," you start.
you would be lying if you said you haven't thought about it before. someone with a dick and someone with a pussy renting a whole space together? when both are single? and in their early adulthood? the mind tends to wander.
sunoo stands from his seat. "last chance before i go to bed."
you bite your lip, giving sunoo a once-over. you're fully aware of the sounds that come from his room whenever he has someone over. the thought of sunoo doing...things to excite them that much stirs something in you.
"promise this won't make things weird?" you ask, standing up to get closer to sunoo's height. not that it makes much of a difference. he towers over you, either way.
sunoo smirks down at you, shaking his head no. he reaches out to you, rubbing up and down your arms.
"okay," you say, nodding.
"okay," sunoo mimics. he pulls you closer to him, nearly pressing your chests together.
"i'm going to kiss you now," sunoo warns, cradling one side of your face.
you nod, hypnotized by just how pretty he is up close.
"you have to tell me that you're okay with it," sunoo whispers, and you think you hear a hint of condescension in his voice.
"please," you whisper back. "kiss me."
sunoo wastes no time in pressing his lips to yours. you gasp against the kiss, surprised at how intense sunoo starts out. he parts his lips and you mirror the action. the inside of his mouth is warm, your breaths mingling as sunoo roughly pushes you toward the direction of his room.
it's a challenge, walking backward the way you are right now, but sunoo keeps a firm grip on the back of your neck and on your waist, steering you where you need to go. finally, he gets his bedroom door open, practically shoving you inside.
the two of you stumble onto his bed, the wind knocking out of you for a moment as your back hits the mattress. sunoo hovers over you, hoisting you further up his bed as if you weighed nothing at all.
"safeword?" sunoo asks, hands slipping under your shirt. you swallow, thinking about what the two of you could possibly end up doing for it to warrant a safeword.
"p-pajamas," you mutter, feeling sunoo's fingers graze your breasts. sunoo nods, cupping both in his hands.
"can't believe you've been hiding these from me," sunoo comments mischievously, kneading away at your boobs.
you inhale, squirming under sunoo's touch. he squeezes, hard, and you back arches off the bed.
"ngh—!" you gasp, trying to pry sunoo's hands off you.
"what, i thought you wanted this?" sunoo questions innocently. he jams a knee to your core, and you mindlessly start to grind down, wetness instantly pooling between your legs at the friction.
"you're humping my leg like some desperate puppy," sunoo says with a chuckle. "you really must be so frustrated. aren't you, doll?"
you look at sunoo and his whole expression is darkened with lust. he's not the sunoo you cook breakfast with on weekend mornings, he's not the sunoo who counsels you on your numerous failed situationships, and he's definitely not the sunoo that cheerily greets you every time you get home from a long day at work.
this sunoo is set on one thing, and on one thing only: to give you what you asked for.
"please," you whimper. "please, i need it."
"need what?" sunoo asks, pulling away. you grab at him in desperation, wanting the feeling of his firm thigh back against your pussy.
"need you," you say in a hurry. "need you so, so bad."
sunoo grins darkly, eyes raking over your disheveled figure on his bed.
"where do you need me?" sunoo asks again, running his hands up and down your thighs. your legs immediately spread, and sunoo laughs.
"someone's forgotten how to speak, it seems," sunoo observes, two fingers pressing into your core through your clothes. your mouth hangs open in a silent gasp.
"pathetic, needy whore," sunoo says with overflowing venom. you shake your head, tears prickling in your eyes from the words. you feel your throat constrict, and you know you're about to cry.
it's a thrilling feeling.
sunoo makes a disappointed noise. "and a crybaby, too."
sunoo roughly grabs at your shirt, hiking it up over your boobs. "off," he commands.
you wiggle out of the garment as best you can while lying down, tossing it to the floor. sunoo dips down, latching on to one of your nipples. his tongue flicks against it mercilessly. his teeth graze it ever so slightly.
"s-sunoo," you whine. "too much, too much!"
"too much?" sunoo asks, pulling away. "baby, i'll show you what 'too much' is."
sunoo undresses, his half-hard cock in full view. you gape at it, unsure of what you were expecting, but you know for sure that it's mouthwateringly pretty.
sunoo harshly pulls your bottoms and underwear down, practically dragging you off the bed in the process. your heart beats wildly in your chest, still unable to comprehend how a gentle being like sunoo is acting this way with you.
"so wet," sunoo observes, toying with your cunt. he runs a finger lightly through your folds and your hips buck desperately.
"like this, sweetheart?" sunoo says lightly, teasing your clit with just the tip of his finger.
"more," you moan, fingers gripping the sheets beneath you.
sunoo increases the pressure against your clit, unwavering eyes watching your every reaction. you mewl and whine pathetically, wanting him to just give it to you.
"jesus, you really are just so ready to be fucked," sunoo says with a laugh. he plunges two fingers into you without warning and you cry out.
"is this what you want?" sunoo demands, grabbing your face so you could look at him. "want me to fuck you with my fingers and cock?"
you nod vigorously, a strangled moan ripping through you as sunoo's fingers stretch you out. he expertly moves them in and out, angling up to hit that one spongy wall in you. you feel pressure build up in your belly and your eyes roll into the back of your head.
"yes!" you gasp, your whole pelvis moving up to meet his fingers.
sunoo's hand moves down to your neck, pressing you down to the bed. you try to breathe in but it proves difficult, and the subsequent lightheadedness feels like heaven to you.
"you really shouldn't go this long without getting fucked," sunoo says with a shake of his head. "it turns you into a greedy slut."
you cry for real this time, all the sensations assaulting you from all sides. you haven't been fucked this intensely before, and it feels so, so good.
suddenly, without warning, you feel the pressure give way in your abdomen, and you feel a gush in between your legs. sunoo lets go of your neck, caught off guard as well by what you've just done.
sunoo's sheets are drenched and you can see your release coating his arm and part of his chest and abs, too.
"you're killing me here, _______," sunoo smirks, shoving the fingers that were just inside you right into your mouth. you obediently suck, tasting the hint of saltiness of yourself.
"gotta find out what else you're hiding from me," sunoo concludes, pulling you closer to him by your waist.
in a second, he flips you over on your belly, your face shoved down onto the bed. you lay there, splayed out flat, fully in sunoo's mercy.
sunoo grabs you by your hips this time, pulling your ass flush against his front. you lift yourself up on shaky arms, your first orgasm rendering your limbs jelly-like.
a loud smack resounds inside the room, followed by a sting on your ass cheek. you lurch forward, caught by surprise.
another spank rains down on you, and another, and then another. you lose count after five as your mind hazes over.
"please," you beg, tears spilling once again from your eyes. "no more, no more, no more!"
sunoo leans down so his lips are right next to your ear. "no more? do you want me to stop, angel?"
you shudder as sunoo's breath tickles your ear. you merely sob in response, the throbbing in your pussy the only thing you can focus on at the moment.
sunoo tenderly kisses your temple. "one last."
sunoo delivers his hardest spank yet, and you wail, burying your face into his pillows. you nearly lose all coherent thought, the only thing on your mind being the need for sunoo to fuck you brainless.
you collapse on the bed entirely, body shaking. whether from anticipation, pain, or exhaustion, you can't seem to figure out.
you're flipped back over onto your back and you see sunoo leaning over before kissing you sweetly. he rubs at your sore backside, trailing kisses down the side of your face.
"good girl," sunoo mumbles against your skin. he pulls away just enough to gaze at your tear-streaked face.
"you okay? do you need a break?" sunoo asks, expression back to the one you're most familiar with, the one that belongs to the person you swear could never do the things he just did.
you shake your head, still feeling the ache in your core.
"please sunoo," you implore. "need you inside. need you to fuck me."
sunoo's eyes darken again as he nods, pulling himself upright. he yanks your legs apart, observing your glistening pussy. he brings his hand down to it, a wet smack echoing throughout the room.
you let out a garbled noise, your whole body jerking in response. sunoo repeats this a few times.
"gonna let me fuck this pretty pussy?" sunoo interrogates, looking at you expectantly.
"yes! yes, please, fuck me!" you say, voice strained.
sunoo pulls you closer to him, smashing your lips together in a messy kiss. you eagerly kiss back, clinging to him as if he might disappear at any moment. sunoo angles his hips and slides inside you in one swift motion.
you groan at the sudden fullness, feeling sunoo deep inside you. he fucks you harshly, pushing you down on the bed and into a mating press. you watch sunoo's face scrunched up with concentration, sweat dripping down his chiseled features.
"fuck, you feel so good," sunoo grunts. "gonna fuck this pussy every day."
you clench down at those words. "please, need you like this every day."
sunoo moans, head thrown back as he continues to fuck into you with abandon. you're overwhelmed yourself, your walls stretching and stimulated from the drag of sunoo's dick in and out of you.
"sunoo!" you cry out, mind blanking with nothing else but your best friend filling your brain. "sunoo, sunoo, fuck yes, sunoo!"
"yeah, let the neighbors hear," sunoo taunts, this time, striking you across the face. your vision blurs for a moment, more shocked than hurt.
"you want them to hear, don't you?" sunoo goes again, slapping you from the other side of your face. you don't even know what you say in response, but you assume it pleases sunoo to hear because he adjusts his angle with a groan and fucks into you even faster.
"dirty whore," sunoo says through gritted teeth. "making your best friend fuck you just because you haven't had dick in months."
you let out a string of curses, the overwhelming pressure building up again inside you. you're positive that this one will be even bigger than the first.
your orgasm seizes your entire body, your limbs tensing up as you're overtaken by pleasure. sunoo moans out your name, sheathing himself fully inside you as he cums, shooting his load deep within your walls. you make a mess all over yourselves again, your juices seeping out and dribbling onto the bed.
sunoo catches himself before he tumbles over, pulling out abruptly. you whimper, the sudden ache of emptiness surprising you. sunoo sits up, watching you intently. you lay there, a gasping, crying mess.
"sshh," sunoo soothes, pulling you into his arms and cradling you to his chest.
"you did so well," sunoo compliments, kissing you on the forehead. you take big gulps of air as you steady your breath, blinking away the remainder of your tears.
"that was amazing, sun," you mumble, words slurring around the edges as exhaustion catches up to you.
"thank you, baby," sunoo says, smiling down at you. "so were you."
you grin sleepily, laying your head on sunoo's chest.
"don't sleep yet, dumbass," sunoo says, laughing. "we made a mess, so we gotta shower."
you whine in protest, curling further into sunoo. your best friend sighs, carefully sliding off the bed, grunting as he scoops you into his arms.
"come on," sunoo begins chirpily. "i'll clean you up."
"thank you," you respond, kissing sunoo's neck. "love you."
sunoo giggles, attacking you with multiple kisses to the face.
"love you, too."

Best Friend Blues
Hi guys! Have my word vomit from today lmao I spat this out over a couple of hours at work and I'm kind of happy with it? So, I hope you enjoy! It starts out angsty and ends happily.
Word Count: 3323
Pairing: Matt Murdock x Reader
Tumblr media
Your best friend was getting married. You should be happy. Elated, even. And instead, you're crying into a bowl of ice cream and doing your best not to think about it.
Your best friend was getting married and you couldn't be sadder.
You knew this would happen eventually. That he would find someone and fall in love with them and you would be left to pick up the pieces of your heart.
You see, you've been in love with your best friend for years. You were always afraid to say anything for fear of losing him. But now it was too late. Far too late. The wedding was in two days. Tomorrow you would have to go to the reception and put your fake smile on and pretend to be happy. But for tonight you were allowing yourself a moment of weakness.
You should have known better.
There was a light tapping at your window and you jumped at the sound. Horrified, you looked to the window to see Matt standing outside of it with a frown on his face. You quickly set the bowl down on your coffee table, wiped your face, and ran to open the window.
“What are you doing out here?!” You hissed, leaning through the window to look him over.
“Will you let me in? Please? We need to talk.” Your heart sunk at his words but you backed away and let him fold himself into your living room. It was silent as he turned and closed the window behind him, staying with his back facing you. You took the silence for a few minutes before you couldn't take it anymore.
“Matt, what is-”
“Did you really think I wouldn't notice?” Your heart stopped before resuming at double time. Still, you tried for nonchalance.
“Notice what? What is going on, Matt? Shouldn't you be at home with Veronica?” Matt stiffens then growls and rounds on you. He steps til he's practically towering over you.
“That. That is what I'm talking about. You keep pushing me away anytime I try to spend time with you. So you tell me. What is going on?” You flinch at his words and open your mouth to reply but no words come out. Which is apparently fine because Matt keeps talking.
“For the last week, every time I pass by your apartment you're either crying or have just finished crying. You're pushing me and the others away. Please. Just tell me what is going on with you. We're all worried and I just want to help you.” He says your name as a plea and it just breaks your heart all over again. Because the way he speaks makes it sound like maybe he could love you too and you know that's not true. You harden your heart and cross your arms over your chest.
“I just don't want to talk about it. I'm fine, Matt. Really.”
He pulls his mask from his head and lets his gaze settle in your direction. His face is desperate and you hate that you've caused him distress.
“Don't. Don't do this to me. You're not fine, I know you aren't. Even if I couldn't tell you were lying to me, I would know that wasn't true. Please, just let me help you.”
Hysterical laughter bubbled up out of you at his words and confusion passed over his face.
“You can't help me, Matt. Not this time.”
“Why not? What is so wrong that you won't even consider letting me help you?”
You don't even get a chance to consider it, the words just slip out.
“I love you, Matt.” A sound of frustration slips out of his lips.
“I love you too. Now will you please let me help you?”
“You aren't understanding me, Matt. I love you. I'm in love with you. You are my favorite what if.” Matt is speechless in front of you, shock written all over his face. You continue on.
“I have been in love with you since college. But I've always been too scared to say anything for fear of losing you. You wanna know why I'm crying? That's why!”
“Why- why are you telling me this now?”
“Because you asked and I am weak when it comes to you.”
“I'm getting married in two days! What do you want me to do? Cancel on Veronica on her wedding day?”
“Veronica doesn't even know you're Daredevil! How long do you think that relationship, that marriage, is going to last when you can't even be your true self with her!”
“It's my choice not to tell her!”
“Yeah, because you know she'll leave if you do! She doesn't love you, Matt. She loves the carefully curated person you've presented her.” Matt steps back, looking like you slapped him.
“That's not true.”
“It is, and you know it! Veronica is not who you think she is either. Some of the things she's said when we've been out have rubbed me the wrong way.” Matt scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest.
“Really? You're going to resort to this?”
“It's true. She talked about making you stop working with Foggy and start working at a big name firm so you could make money. She doesn't understand why you work for the ‘rifraff’ of Hell's Kitchen.”
“Why would she tell you this and not me?”
“You don't have to believe me, but ask Karen. She heard it too. We both didn't say anything at the time because you seemed really happy with her and because we knew she wouldn't succeed.”
“This is unbelievable. You're supposed to be happy for me!”
“I tried! I really did try! Why do you think I never said anything?!”
“You never should have said anything!”
“You asked!! And I can't exactly lie to you so what did you want me to do?”
“I can't believe this. I can't believe you.” Matt pulled his mask back on and turned towards the window. Fear immediately creeped up your throat and you reached for him.
“Matt, wait-”
“Don't touch me!” You recoiled instantly and your heart shattered. You watched as he climbed out your window and paused outside of it. It looked like he wanted to say something but instead, after a moment, he disappeared.
Surrounded by the broken pieces of your heart, you fell to your knees and sobbed.
~
Your phone's obnoxious vibrating woke you from your deep slumber. It took a minute to find it and answer it, not even looking at the caller ID.
“‘Lo?” Your voice was hoarse and sounded scratchy and you winced as the events of the night before came rushing back to you. You teared up at the memories but forced them back as the person on the other line started talking.
“Wow, you sound awful! Is that why you aren't here yet?” It was Foggy's cheerful voice on the other end of the line and you were instantly confused. Foggy was obviously referring to the lunch everyone in the bridal and groom party was supposed to be meeting at today but surely after last night, Matt didn't want you there.
“I, uh, don't think it's a good idea for me to come. Matt probably doesn't want me there.”
“What are you talking about, silly goose? Matt's the one who asked me to call you.” Your eyes widened and you froze, at a loss for words. Foggy picked up on it immediately and you heard the background noise dim as he walked away from the others.
“Are you okay? Matt's been kind of weird all day and now you're acting weird. Did something happen between you two? Is everything okay?”
“I- no, Foggy, everything is not okay.” You felt tears start to fall again and sniffled, trying to get yourself together. “We got into a fight last night. Like the worst we've ever had and I- I screwed up, okay?”
“Hey, hey, it's okay. Whatever you did can't be that bad if he's still asking about you. You wanna tell me what happened?” You hesitated before slowly telling him about the fight from the night before. He was silent the whole time and for a good few minutes afterwards. You winced when he didn't say anything.
“See? I told you. I screwed everything up and I don't even know why he wants me there.”
“Because he wants his best friends around him when he gets married, whether he's mad at them or not. Honestly, he's probably feeling guilty for forcing an answer out of you.”
“I don't know what to do, Foggy. How can I stand there and watch him do something I know he'll regret?” Foggy was quiet for a moment before he sighed.
“You and me both. Look, I haven't wanted to say anything because I thought I was the only one having doubts about this relationship. But Matt's made up his mind and you and I both know he can't be convinced otherwise.”
“But Foggy, his religion doesn't exactly condone divorce. What are we supposed to do, just let him marry someone who he's gonna hate in six months?”
“I don't know. But the wedding is tomorrow and they're looking for you and I to both be there. Hang on.” You heard him cover the phone but it still didn't completely muffle his words. You heard someone asking what was taking so long and him telling them he would be right there. The next moment he was back.
“Listen, I can't tell you what to do. I can tell you that if you want me to tell Matt you're sick and can't make it, I will. Or if you want me to tell him you're just running late, I can do that too. Whatever you decide, I support you 100%.”
You sat there and thought about it for a moment before sighing.
“I suppose I can't let my best friend make stupid decisions on his own. Tell him I'll be there soon.”
“Attagirl. You'll be okay, I'll keep you distracted.”
“Thank you, Foggy. You're the best.”
The two of you hung up and you dragged yourself out of bed and over to the closet. You looked at the outfit you had originally planned to wear and put it aside. If you were going to get over Matt, you needed to catch someone else's attention. So you picked out a black dress that still fit the occasion and slipped it on. It fit you perfectly and you forced a smile at yourself in the mirror. With that out of the way, you grabbed your purse and left the house, heading for the brunch spot. You could do this, you told yourself. How bad could it be?
~
If it weren't for Foggy doing his best to distract you, you would've broken down after 5 minutes. Matt barely greeted you when you walked in, something Karen picked up on easily. She shot you a look and you just shrugged before shaking your head and taking your spot next to Foggy. Then it was like every time Veronica laughed at something Matt said or did, you would feel like a knife was in your heart. You wanted that to be you so badly, but it wasn't and you had to accept that. You were lucky Matt hadn't kicked you out of his life after the night before and you counted your blessings where you could. Midway through lunch, you realized you'd caught the eye of a guy across the outdoor space. When he noticed you caught him staring, he winked at you and raised his glass. You forced a smile back and dipped your head in acknowledgement. All the girls cooed, finding it the cutest thing. They urged you to go talk to him and you finally did as they said. But you couldn't help but notice the way Matt white knuckled his cane as you went by.
After exchanging numbers with the guy, you returned to your table. That was when it got really bad.
“What's the matter? Couldn't seal the deal?” Veronica snipped from her spot. You forced a smile and held up your phone.
“I actually got his number and we agreed to meet up sometime next week.” You said back, a false sugary coating to your voice. Matt cleared his throat and sat up straighter.
“I think it's time we finish up here.” His voice was deep, and you could tell he was pissed off about something but what could it be? You and Foggy shared a look before helping wrap up the last minute preparations. Veronica continued to snip at all of you the whole time and you tried not to snap. The only people she was civil to were her own friends and you, Foggy, and Karen tried not to take it too personally. As lunch finished, you all stood outside the restaurant. Veronica stood with her friends, talking animatedly while the four of you stood back a ways.
“Thanks for coming out, you guys. I'll see you tomorrow?” The lilt he had on the end of his voice made it sound like a question and he was gazing in your direction so you took a deep breath, forced a grin on your face, and assured him you wouldn't miss it for the world.
“Matt, let's goooo! You can talk to your friends later!” You clenched your fists but let it go as Matt smiled, a forced one if you'd ever seen it, and tapped his way over to her. She took his arm and they made their way down the sidewalk. The three of you waited until they were long gone before any of you spoke. Surprisingly, it was Karen who spoke first.
“Are we really letting this happen?” She asked, biting her lip.
“I think we kind of have to at this point.” Foggy murmured.
“You guys wanna get drunk at my place?”
There was a resounding yes and the three of you began the trek to the liquor store and then your home.
Your best friend was marrying someone he shouldn't be, and none of you could do a damn thing about it.
~
“So I just told him the truth! What else was I s'posed to do? He's a human lie detector!” You were explaining to Karen, and Foggy in more detail, what had happened the previous night. They were sympathetic to your plight and it made you feel a little bit better.
“I can't believe he didn't confess to loving you back.” Foggy slurred out. You immediately whipped your head around to face him, wide eyed.
“What?!”
“Yeah. He's been in love with you for like forever. He only ever dated to keep his mind off of it. No offense Karen.”
“None taken.” She piped up.
“So then why…?”
“I guess he just figured it was time to settle down and neither of you were admitting your feelings to the other so maybe he thought it best if he found someone.”
“That idiot!” Foggy snorted at your outburst and Karen laughed too. “What?”
“You didn't come forth either. This is just as much your fault as it is his.”
Foggy pointed out. You hung your head.
“Yeah, I know.” You sighed. “Let's just get tomorrow over with and hope for the best for our friend. Sound good?”
“Sounds good!”
You bid the two of them farewell and cleaned your space up once they left. You checked your phone before going to bed, seeing a text from the guy at the restaurant. You hesitated before texting back and then putting your phone away. You checked to make sure all of your windows were locked, even the one you kept open for Matt usually. Then you finally laid down.
Tomorrow, you would get your best friend married and then you would find a way to get over him.
~
“Oh, Matt…” You whispered as you walked up to him. He was dressed to the nines in a fancy tux that was tailored to him and looked amazing.
“What? Does it look terrible?” He fidgeted with his bowtie, skewing it in the process, and you couldn't help but chuckle. Being around Matt hurt, but you could never deny his presence. You stepped forward and carefully fixed his bowtie back into place.
“You look amazing. Handsome as ever. Veronica is going to go crazy.” You told him. You were standing too close to him, you knew you were, yet you couldn't find it in you to back away.
“Thanks. I'm glad you could make it. Foggy said it sounded like you weren't feeling well yesterday so I was worried.” Ah, so this was his play. Pretend nothing ever happened. Well, you could play that game as well.
“Yeah, sorry. I woke up feeling rough yesterday cause I didn't get much sleep but I feel better today.” You took a step back and missed the way Matt flinched. You turned from him and looked in the mirror at your dress. It was a simple sheath dress but it was bright pink. All the bridesmaids were in bright colors because of what Veronica wanted and you tried not to cringe at the way it looked on you. Not many people could pull off neon pink and you were certainly no Barbie. But you grinned and bared it because this was what your best friend's future wife wanted.
“Are you ready? We should take our places in about 15 minutes.” You told him. You heard him take in a sharp breath and it caused you to turn and look at him. Instantly your heart dropped at the look on his face.
“Matt? What's wrong?”
“I can't do this…”
“What? What is it? Are you feeling sick? Should I get Foggy?”
“I- I'm sorry, I'll be right back.” Matt turned and hurried out of the room. You heard his footsteps, the sound of a door opening, several gasps, his muted voice, followed by a shrieked ‘what did you just say.’ Your eyebrows rose and you heard the sound of a slap which got you moving towards the door. You almost got to it when it was flung open and there stood Matt. His cheek was bright red but he had never looked more proud of himself.
“Matt… what did you do?”
“What I should have done a long time ago.”
“I don't understand, did you just call off your marriage?”
“Yes, I did.” He said it with such confidence that you could do nothing but gape at him.
“Matthew Murdock it is your wedding day and you called it off?!” You whisper-yelled.
“Shut up.” He said, starting to walk towards you.
“Excuse me?”
“I said, shut up.” And then he was cupping your face and kissing you and oh, this must be what heaven feels like. He kissed you for several moments before pulling back.
“I have loved you since the first day we spoke. I never should have let myself get caught up in anyone else. You are who I want.” You felt tears well up.
“Matt…”
“Shhh, you don't have to say anything. Just… nod your head if you want to give this a go.” With your forehead pressed to his, he could feel the way you immediately nodded and he grinned. He pulled you in for another kiss.
“Hey, buddy, what's this I hear about a canceled wedding- whoa!”
Matt and you pulled away from each other guiltily and looked towards Foggy who had his hands on his hips.
“Well it's about time!”
All of you laughed as Foggy rushed forward and hugged you both close.
“So, does this mean no more evil fiance? Cause I was getting worried, buddy.”
Matt groaned, “Not you too!”
You laughed and smiled. A marriage may have been stopped but you couldn't be happier.
After all, you were in love with your best friend and he loved you too. What more could you ask for?

Hello! I loved your Sinclair post about their S/O leaving them. If you would like too could you please write a part 2 where the S/O comes back and the talk it out? Happy ending if at all possible only if you want too, I hope you have a great day!
I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
I hope this is ok, i tried my best but i've been a little bit rusty after my break from writing <3
Part two of this
The Sinclair Boys' S/O Comes home.
Bo Sinclair
Bo had exhausted nearly every option of where to find you.
He knew that even if the chance of getting you back was slim, he had to at least apologise- promise to be better. For once he needed to prove to someone that he was worth the fight.
Most of all, he needed to see you.
And he never admitted it, but a part of himself needed to see if you looked even a fraction of the way he did.
Bo turned up on your doorstep, hat in his hand, face covered in dirt, sweat, and who knows whatelse.
You had to admit he looked awful- worse than you'd seen him in months.
Even when Bo recognises he's done wrong, he doesn't always feel bad and her certainly never apologises for it.
Until now.
~~~~~
You stand there on the porch, staring expectantly at Bo as he struggled to find words. His throat was dry, and all of the things that he wished to say- the large speech he had spent days rehearsing and rewriting- melted into nothing at the back of his throat. He looked at you briefly before diverting his attention downward at his shoes.
"Beauregard, please say somethin'. I don't wanna stand in the cold all day," when he doesn't seem to respond, you more to shut the door on him. He panics and in a moment of adrenalin, sticks his hand in the doorframe to stop you from closing it. He doesn't so much feel it as he does hear the scraping crunch, letting out a hiss when you immediately reopen the door to let his trapped fingers go.
The next thing he knows, he's in your kitchen with a bag of ice wrapped around his hand. The lights in the kitchen are too bright for Bo, making everything but you seem hazy in the sleep deprived state hes in. You can see that hes not in a good state, but it worries you how he got here
"Bo, did you drive all the way by yourself?" you hope he says no, that Lester had driven four hours to get here. However, from looking into his truck, you know it was just him.
Bo looks at you like you're stupid. "I drove. Din't ya see the truck?"
"Don't make that face at me, Beauregard. Why are you here?"
He stares at you a little longer again, his resolve cracking further. It's been so long since he's seen you and now he can barely look at you out of shame.
"Sugar, you know i ain't the type to apologise for anythin'. An' i know you deserve someone who does..." but now he looks you in the eyes like a kicked dog, "I haven't be'n treatin' you like I shoulda."
"Bo-"
"No, please lemme say this cuz i wanna get the chance before you chuck me out." he sighs.
"I know I'm no good for you, and i know i dont deserve the time of day from you but i do love you... Sugar, i love you so much it hurts when you ain't around no more. It's like i'm continuously choking on smoke. Now I ain't trying to guilt you into comin' home- Ambrose. "
"Bo please just say it"
"I'M SORRY- I know that don't make up for how ive treated you- or anyone," Bo shifts and mores to grip your hand, "But i wanna be better for you, i wanna show you i love you, and make you feel loved"
You remain silent for a time and he feels his stomach sink slowly to his feat and he deflates, retracting his hand.
"I-I'm gon' head out soon, get outta your hair for good. I just wanted you to know i was sorry."
"No you're not, you're in no state to drive Bo. Stay the night here. We can head back together tomorrow" at that his face lights up. "You can have a shower before you get anywhere near me though," you tease.
He smirks and scampers up the staircase, "Yes, ma'am"
Vincent Sinclair
Vincent made no attempts to find you.
After all, why would he try to bring you back if you were only going to leave again.
He figured he may as well cut his losses and try to get over it.
So he tried.
For weeks.
Then for months.
But he just couldn't.
He saw you in everything he did.
He could swear that he saw you in his paintings or in visitors' cars.
Hell he thought he saw you getting out of Lester's truck right now.
Until he realised you actually were.
But something was different.
~~~~~
Through the glass he could see you hopping out of the cab of the truck, thick winter sweater consuming your figure. He's sure its one of his.
Vincent rushed through the house to the front door, swinging it open on its creaky hinges. You hardly get the chance to look at him before he's wrapping his arms around you tightly.
Lester stands to the side watching.
"Yer lucky i was drivin' west otherwise she might not've made it t'all"
Vincent turns away to sign to Lester but you dont catch it because he's moving his hands so fast.
"She's tryin' to get back to ya but ran outta gas before i found her"
He was shocked. You were trying to get back to him? Why, he was sure you wanted nothing to do with him this entire time.
He signs slower so you can understand,
'Why did you come back?'
You look at him sadly. In truth you felt bad for running away with no notice- leaving Vincent all alone with no explanation.
"I had to." you started, "Because i love you. And it wasn't fair to run away, i know, but i was scared of what you might think, or do"
Though you cant see, Vincent looks puzzled under his mask, you can tell. he signs again.
'Why did you leave- what were you afraid of me for?'
Your eyes water and you look down, arms wrapping around your torso.
"Vincent, I.." the words get stuck in your throat and he moves to cup your cheeks but you grab his hands before he can. You don't think you can say it. Your trembling hands guid his callused palms to your stomach. His eye widens when he feels the protrusion there.
There was no way. He stiffens and stays like that for what feels like forever until your shoulders start to shudder with sobs. Vincent snaps out of it and panics, trying to calm your cries. He moves to embrace you again before frantically signing to you.
'No please darling, don't cry. I'm not upset- i could never be upset with you'
You sniffle, "I'm sorry i left you. It was only meant to be for one day- to go to the clinic but then i found out i was pregnant and then i got scared that you wouldn't want it so i went to a hotel to try to think about what to do but i never manages to figure anything out."
Vincent feels his heart crack a little bit at your distress. He should've been more intuitive- maybe let you know that he'd care about you no matter what.
He gently puts his hands back on your tummy and looks at you. He doesn't even need to sign for you to know what he was trying to say.
'It'll be ok'
Lester Sinclair
Lester was a good guy, you knew that.
To you, he was perfect.
He never even raised his voice at you, and you're sure that if he even scratched you, he'd feel horrible for days.
And if you were honest, you still missed him.
You knew what he was doing was wrong but you still loved him.
Before you can stop yourself you're calling his mobile, waiting for the beeps.
He picks up after a single ring, like always.
~~~~~
"Heh-hey hun!" he tries his best but you can hear he's happy that you called him. "Is everythin' ok up there?"
You had to admit, it was sweet that even now, he cares about things like that.
"Hey, Les..." you don't really know what to say but he's patient, "Sorry im not really sure why i called."
"It's ok, please, i ain't gonna complain" you can almost hear his smile through the phone.
"I'm sorry about what i said-"
he cuts you off, "No, no you're right. What we was doin' was horrible, i know. But i- i wantcha to know that i told Bo that i ain't doing his dirty work anymore."
That surprised you. You know that Bo's a strong, stubborn character and Lester wants nothing than to impress his older brothers. This was big.
"I'm glad, Lester. Just stay outta trouble." You tease him and he giggles.
"I'm tryin' my best out here." an uncomfortably long period of silence takes over the line before he speaks again. "Jonesy misses ya... she just sorta stares at the door at night, expectin' ya to come walk through it."
It sounds sort of sad when he says it like that, he realises. "Not that I'm tryin to trick ya into comin back, im jus' sayin' that maybe you'd like me to bring her up to you some time." It's a ploy so that he can see you again, he knows.
"Oh no, Lester don't go all the way out here to let me play with YOUR dog, thats unfair." you pout through the phone and he laughs again.
"I don't know- i'd get to see you again, so it seems like a good trade, hun."
You dont know what got into you.
"Lester, I miss you."
The line is quiet again for a few seconds before he replies, "Really?"
"I know you've done some horrible stuff, but i still love you, and i dont know, if you're tellin' the truth about leaving that stuff behind, then maybe we can make it work."
He fights back a squeal of delight when he hears that.
"You stay right there, Huneysuckle, I'll be coming to get you as soon as i can." you laugh at his enthusiasm, "I'm getting in the truck, ill see you soon!"
