Examine Yourselves
1 This is the third time I am coming to you. At the mouth of two witnesses or three shall every word be established. 2 I have said beforehand, and I do say beforehand, as when I was present the second time, so now, being absent, to them that have sinned heretofore, and to all the rest, that, if I come again, I will not spare; 3 seeing that ye seek a proof of Christ that speaketh in me; who to you-ward is not weak, but is powerful in you: 4 for he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth through the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him through the power of God toward you.
5 Try your own selves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Or know ye not as to your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you? unless indeed ye be reprobate. 6 But I hope that ye shall know that we are not reprobate. 7 Now we pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we may appear approved, but that ye may do that which is honourable, though we be as reprobate. 8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth. 9 For we rejoice, when we are weak, and ye are strong: this we also pray for, even your perfecting. 10 For this cause I write these things while absent, that I may not when present deal sharply, according to the authority which the Lord gave me for building up, and not for casting down.
Final Greetings and Blessing
11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfected; be comforted; be of the same mind; live in peace: and the God of love and peace shall be with you. 12 Salute one another with a holy kiss. 13 All the saints salute you.
14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. — 2 Corinthians 13 | English Revised Version (ERVB) The English Revised Version of the Holy Bible is in the public domain. Stare Yourself Deaf | Eric Gilmour [2 Corinthians 13:5]
The more attention we give to JESUS the higher HE will become in our lives—if you look at Acts 1 this is the ascension of JESUS.
Though this physically took place, HE actually ascended in front of them. There is a spiritual implication, I believe we can pull from this for our daily lives
v.9 it says that after HE had said these      things, HE's lifted up while they were      looking at HIM. They were looking at      HIM & HE was lifted up..
HE was lifted up while they were look      -ing at HIM, I'm trying to tell you that      as we keep our attention & our gaze
fixed upon CHRIST, HE will rise higher      & higher & higher in our lives higher      than all the things around us
higher than all the things going on in      our government or in our nation—      higher than ourselves & others..
This is what is the greatest need is
for CHRIST to be above everything      else including ourselves in our hearts
   •  we don't trust ourselves for guidance    •  we don't trust ourselves for obedience    •  we don't obey ourselves
We let CHRIST be lifted higher than us & others
This is happening in the heart that continually looks unto JESUS. Moses endured seeing HIM WHO was unseen.
1.]  Focus on JESUS, HE becomes Supreme
So number one JESUS is lifted by staring at       HIM, the LORD said to me a couple months       back, HE said stare yourself deaf.
I didn't know that a tumult & a torrential       downpour of voices from the enemy would       come to me & surround me.
it felt like they were in me & above me &       around me—I didn't even know that was       coming. But JESUS said before this enemy       voice attack in my life,
      HE said stare yourself deaf
We can look at JESUS so intently that we       can't hear the voice of the enemy, and I       would say also—the more we remove       our attention from the LORD JESUS, the       more we will hear the voice of the enemy
And as David says
My soul is restless because of the voice       of the enemies. Let us stare ourselves       deaf — this means giving CHRIST the       highest place above everything.
That's going on everybody, around us & express it & especially above ourselves that's the one because the presence of GOD is experienced by those who are not focused on themselves!
In other words, consciousness of GOD's presence
Praise GOD! Consciousness of GOD's presence comes when we're no longer conscious of our -selves
—we forget ourselves that we might see      HIM, oh in order for the bride to come out      of herself—she must forget herself
     O looking unto JESUS
2.] Long For HIS Return
But look what happens next v.10 & as they were gazing intently at the LORD—as they are gazing intently, they hear of the 2nd coming.
The Angels say,
“This JESUS, WHOM has been taken up      into Heaven will come just in the same      way as you've watched HIM go.”
In other words, they receive a revelation of the coming of the LORD by staring at the LORD!
I want to submit to you that the more intently we gaze upon CHRIST—not only will HE be lifted higher than everything else in ourselves
—but also we will feel HIS second coming!
Maranatha pumps through the veins of those who stare at the KING, if the KING has all our attention then we expect anticipate & long for HIS coming! Praise GOD!
3.] Union with CHRIST Intercede for Others
Lastly v.14 when they return home from gazing intently upon the LORD, it says they continually devoted themselves to prayer!
They continually devoted themselves to prayer
So I feel like the life of prayer
a life that is bathed in prayer literally      overwhelmed in unbroken conscious      union with the LORD & soaking other      things in prayer whatever we do
we're doing it all with thanksgiving      unto the LORD & offering it to the      LORD & bathing everything in prayer
it comes from a heart set & fixed upon      the MAN CHRIST JESUS & feeling the      fact that HE is returning
............................................................................. I would say that we are not a people of prayer to the degree we don't recognize HE's returning &
we are not a people of prayer to the degree HE's not lifted above everything around us & ourselves by gazing intently at HIM. .............................................................................
Those who pray are the ones who are looking unto JESUS, is in the life of prayer.
I've defined prayer often as conscious union just literally conscious of my union with HIM established by HIM, sustained by HIM.
I read in valley vision this morning that HIS work is everything--mine is to cling to HIM WHO is everything..
So all this to say:
if we will look unto JESUS & stay fixed      steady staring, we will stare ourselves      deaf! HE will be lifted high above all      other things
We will feel & tremble with the expectation & anticipation of the return of the LORD & this'll make us a people of prayer!
Yes communion with GOD first & communion with GOD is the heart but also intercession praying for those that GOD has entrusted to us--it's just the highest delight!
I've often said that the essence of intercession is when the tears of CHRIST in Heaven come through my eyes on the Earth
or when the voice of the great intercessor in Heaven is echoed in the Earth by our lips!!!
4.] Closing Prayer
So FATHER thank YOU so much for the simplicity of this--that we can look unto JESUS & be saved & live in salvation & experience this wonderful & glorious salvation!
I praise YOU LORD!
I pray LORD, that YOU do something fresh; & every viewer show us where our gaze has been deviated or inconsistent & LORD show us the liberty & joy & peace & fulfillment that comes from just looking at YOU!
In YOUR precious Name, amen
P.S. You know one more thing just popped up in my       mind in 2 Corinthians 13, Paul says this amazing       thing he says examine yourselves!
to see if you're in the faith, he's literally just       said you can look on the inside & see whether       or not you are born again.
He says right here in v.5 test yourselves to see       if you were in the faith, examine yourself..
      •  think & look at your own life       •  look at your internals       •  look at what you are
Then he says this or do you not recognize this about       yourself that JESUS CHRIST is in you. He is showing       us that the evidence of having been born again is       the recognition of CHRIST's Presence!
O the recognition of CHRIST's presence that is not       only salvation itself because HE saved us from a       life apart from HIMSELF,
But it is HIM WHO is salvation!
      possessed
This is something that is perceived, we perceive       our possession of HIM WHO gave HIMSELF to us       that is the evidence & the anchor of our faith.
The MAN CHRIST JESUS, not just theologically       but actually! Praise GOD! Thank YOU LORD for       this in the HOLY GHOST, I pray that those of you       that are watching that you would sense & feel       this reality. JESUS CHRIST is in you!
Praise GOD, hey join us on Tuesday nights at 7 p.m       we sit together & we read the Scriptures & wait on       the LORD & we've been going through Psalm 119
it's been incredible marked by the presence of the       LORD. Join us, I'll put a link down below if you want       to become one of our patreon supporters & joined       the mentoring group. GOD bless you guys

   •  2 Corinthians 13:5 | Examine yourselves to        see whether you are in the faith; test your        selves. Can’t you see for yourselves JESUS        CHRIST is in you—unless you actually fail        the test?
   •  2 Peter 1:10-11 | Therefore, brothers, be        all the more eager to make your calling        & election sure. A Spiritual Check-Up (2 Corinthians 13:5-10)
It’s important that we have regular spiritual check-ups and tests to evaluate the vitality of our faith.
Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine. Test yourselves. Surely you know that Jesus Christ is among you; if not, you have failed the test of genuine faith. As you test yourselves, I hope you will recognize that we have not failed the test of apostolic authority. We pray to God that you will not do what is wrong by refusing our correction. I hope we won’t need to demonstrate our…

2 Corinthians 13, Reed's Version
This will be my third visit. As they say, “Every matter is to be settled by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” I told you during my second visit, and I’ll remind you of it again: when I come visit you, I will not go easy on those who have have continued to wallow in sin or on those who have excused such sin. That should appease your demand for proof that Christ really speaks through me. His power has always accompanied my preaching; he has never been mild with you. True, he was at the depth of weakness when he was crucified, but now he is at the height of power at God’s side. We live with Christ and so share not only his weakness but also his power to deal with you.
It’s not me who needs proving but you! Test yourselves to see if you still hold to the Christian faith. You can recognize that Jesus Christ lives within you, can’t you? Unless of course you’ve failed the test. But I hope you will recognize that we ourselves do pass that test. Now my prayer to God is that you commit no more evil. Not because of how it reflects on us; we just want you to do what’s right, even if we don’t get any credit. You see, we can’t do anything that’s contrary to Christian truth, only what aligns with it. So we rejoice when we are weak yet you are strong! And that’s what we pray for: you being fully revitalized. That’s why I’m writing like this when I’m away, so that when I come I won’t have to be harsh in exercising my authority, which the Lord entrusted to me to be constructive and not destructive.
Finally, my brothers and sisters, be joyful! Mend your ways, comfort one another, be of one mind, be at peace; the God of love and peace will be with you all. Greet one another with a Christian kiss. All of God’s people here send their greetings. May grace from Jesus Christ and love from God and community from the Holy Spirit be with all of you.

Peace and reconciliation are the primary indicators of the children of God
Peace and reconciliation are the primary indicators of the children of God
Believers are taught and encouraged to operate within a spirit of peace at all times. When Yeshua taught his disciples about forgiveness, it was with the idea that they were to be reconcilers, those who promote peace instead of further divisiveness. This was to be true not only among themselves, but with all others, even including their enemies. Matthew 5:44 – “But I say to you, love your…

“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” —Philippians 4:13 (NLT)
“Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” —2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)
“But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed. They will rise on wings like eagles; they will run and not get weary; they will walk and not grow weak.” —Isaiah 40:31 (GNT)
Friend, God loves you, He is with you, He is mighty to save and He is faithful. There is nothing He can't do. May your weekend overflow with breakthroughs and blessings, through Him who gives power and strength! Amen! 🙏🕊️🙌

Power in Weakness (2 Corinthians 13:1-4)
We really have to get this wrongheaded notion out of our noggins, that power and strength are all about an aggressive exercise of authority.
Way of the Cross, by Jyoti Sahi, 2009 This will be my third visit to you. “Every matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.” I already gave you a warning when I was with you the second time. I now repeat it while absent: On my return I will not spare those who sinned earlier or any of the others, since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is…

1 John Bonus: What is Love? (Part 2 of 3)
Probably the best-known passage on love in the Greek scriptures is found Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth, 1 Corinthians 13. #WhatisLove #Agape #1Corinthians13
Expositors will often speak of heavenly love as agape, and probably the best-known passage on love in the Greek scriptures is found Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth, 1 Corinthians 13. 1 Corinthians 13 In this chapter, Paul describes the nature of agape as patient, kind, humble, cooperative, even-tempered, generous-hearted in a way that conveys trust and loyalty, ever…

2 Corinthians 13:11–13
My translation:
11 As for the rest, brothers, rejoice, be functioning properly, be encouraged, think the same thing, be at peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you. 12 Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the holy ones greet you. 13 The grace of the lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Breath be with you all.
Notes:
13:11
The neuter accusative λοιπόν (“rest, remaining”; elsewhere τὸ λοιπόν) is an accusative of respect (“With respect to what remains”) with an adverbial sense: “Finally”. ‘As compared with τὸ λοιπόν, λοιπόν is rather less definite, and perhaps more colloquial’ (CGT).
ἀδελφοί is vocative and gender inclusive (“brothers and sisters”, NRSV, NASB, NIV, NET). What follows are five present imperatives; the present-tense can indicate an ongoing precept and/or the need for constant vigilance in keeping the command.
The present imperative χαίρετε (from χαίρω) could function as a salutation (so CGT; NRSV: “Farewell”), but NIGTC gives five reasons (most significantly, the fact that it stands at the head of a list of imperatives) why it is more likely to be a command to rejoice (so most other translations).
καταρτίζω (13x) is, “I put in order, restore” (BDAG), from ἄρτιος (1x) “ready, complete, properly adjusted”. The present imperative καταρτίζεσθε likely carries the same sense as ἡ κατάρτισις in verse 9. The verb could be passive-voice (NRSV: “Be restored”) or middle and reflexive (NASB: “Mend your ways”; NET: “set things right”; NIV: “Strive for full restoration”; ICC: “co-operate in your restoration”; NIGTC: “work at ...”). HCSB prefers the sense, “Become mature” (cf. v. 9).
The present imperative παρακαλεῖσθε (from παρακαλέω) could be passive (“be comforted”, NASB; “be encouraged”, HCSB, NET) or middle-voice and reflexive (NIV: “encourage one another”). Alternatively, the term could possibly carry the sense, “be exhorted”, i.e., “heed my appeals” (NIGTC; NRSV: “listen to my appeal”; ICC: “accept admonition”), but it strains credulity to imagine that Paul has chosen to express the thought, “take heed to the instructions of this letter” or “continue to accept admonition”, with the terseness of this single word. “Exhort” suggests only action on the part of the exhorter; why would Paul need to command this? He has finished doing so. But “encourage” implies also action on the part of the one encouraged; the passive-voice makes more sense with such a gloss.
The article τὸ substantizes the identical pronoun αὐτὸ (“the same thing”) to be the direct object of the present imperative φρονεῖτε (from φρονέω “I think”), literally., “think the same thing”; NASB: “be like-minded”; NIV: “be of one mind”; NRSV, NET: “agree with one another”.
εἰρηνεύω (4x) is, “I live in peace, am at peace” or “I keep the peace” (BDAG), from ἡ εἰρήνη.
εἰρηνεύετε is another present imperative.
The usage of καὶ, rather than a causal conjunction, suggests that the following is a promise which is not dependent on the preceding imperatives.
ὁ θεὸς is the subject of the future ἔσται (from εἱμί). The single article τῆς governs both ἀγάπης and εἰρήνης, closely unifying the terms; the genitives modify ὁ θεὸς and could be attributive (“the loving and peaceful God”) or subjective (“the God who loves and brings peace”) or descriptive (NIGTC: ‘God is characterized by love and peace in the sense that these are divine attributes and also divine gifts’). The prepositional phrase μεθʼ ὑμῶν modifies the verb (“will be with you”); ‘When εἶναι μετά (“be with”) is used of God’s or Christ’s presence with humans, it signifies the divine favor and aid as supporting some human endeavor or intervening in some human situation’ (NIGTC).
13:12
The direct object of the aorist imperative ἀσπάσασθε (from ἀσπάζομαι) is ἀλλήλους (“Greet one another”).
τό φίλημα (7x) is, “kiss”, from φιλέω “I love” (used of friendship); cf. φίλος “friend”. ἁγίῳ is attributive with φιλήματι (“a holy kiss”). The prepositional phrase ἐν ἁγίῳ φιλήματι indicates means or manner with ἀσπάζομαι above.
The direct object of the present ἀσπάζονται (from ἀσπάζομαι) is ὑμᾶς, and the subject is the substantival adjective οἱ ἅγιοι. πάντες is attributive with οἱ ἅγιοι (“all the saints”; NIGTC: “all God’s people”).
13:13
The nominatives ἡ χάρις, ἡ ἀγάπη and ἡ κοινωνία are the compound subject of an implied verb such as the optative εἴη, present indicative ἐστιν or perhaps future indicative ἔσται. The implied verb is modified by the prepositional phrase μετὰ πάντων ὑμῶν (“May ... be with you all”). The genitives τοῦ κυρίου with ἡ χάρις and τοῦ θεοῦ with ἡ ἀγάπη are subjective. Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ is appositional to τοῦ κυρίου. Some take the genitive τοῦ ἁγίου πνεύματος as objective with ἡ κοινωνία (“fellowship with/participation in the Holy Spirit”); as ICC notes, ‘elsewhere in the NT a genitive following κοινωνία is usually objective, indicating what it is that participants share in’ (sim. NIGTC). But the parallel with the above two genitives lends equal weight to taking it as subjective (“community created by the Holy Spirit”). ἁγίου is attributive with τοῦ ... πνεύματος.
